Gelataria Portuense is a small and unassuming gem in Porto, known for its delectable ice creams created by the talented gelatiere Ana Ferreira. The best gelato in Porto. We tasted over 18 ice cream shops. Gelataria Portuense was by far the best. Their traditional flavors are deliciously creamy. Moreover, they have some random flavors. I had the pineapple and basil sorbet, which was tart, refreshing and aromatic. The perfect combination to offset the richness of their dark chocolate.

A true hidden gem in Porto 👌‼️ 1927 Gelataria Portuense serves delicious homemade gelato with natural flavors and fresh Portuguese milk. The small shop may look discreet, but the line outside says it all. Best to go on foot (parking is tough🚗). Great taste, great value. Don’t miss it ‼️

Phenomenal Gelato! This place was crowded when we arrived, but for a great reason. Their prices were good especially considering how delicious everything tasted. They had a lot of flavors to choose from, but the flavor of the traditional flavors was top notch quality. The staff were friendly and service was fast. This place was place was great for people watching while enjoying amazing gelato.
Found this place by accident and so glad I did. The ice cream was the best I’d had in Porto, coconut which didn’t melt instantly like others I’ve tried. A very generous scoop for €4 served by friendly staff in a clean environment, small queue but lots of seating available.
Ice cream is delicious! So creamy and the flavours are intense. The staff were really nice, probably the nicest I have encountered in Porto and made us feel very welcome!

Honestly Ice Cream was unexpectedly delicious, but staff seem not have any passion for work here. When i visited here I expected something sweet dessert myself, staff ruined my mood.
The ice cream was delightful, and the affogato was a treat even though the seller required assistance from a supervisor to prepare it. (this can happen)
However, the young woman wearing glasses at the entrance who handled payment for the ice cream demonstrated a noticeable lack of professionalism. Her attitude came across as unkind and judgmental, making us feel unwelcome and as if our presence was an annoyance. It's disheartening to witness such a contrast between the quality of the ice creams and the initial customer experience. The first impression is crucial, and unfortunately, it was marred by the unwelcoming demeanor of the staff member. With numerous other ice cream shops in Porto to choose from, it's worth considering alternatives that might offer a more inviting atmosphere. As a suggestion to the owner, investing in staff training to ensure excellent customer service could greatly enhance the overall experience
Great gelato that comes in the metal tins (and isn’t sitting out like normal ice cream). The cream flavor is especially good - would recommend if you’re looking for a sweet treat in Porto!
I really like ice cream, but for the past few years I couldn't find a good one, so I stopped eating it.
This ice cream was really delicious. We tried pistachio, hazelnut and caramel. All of them were nice, pistachio and hazelnut ice cream included ground nuts and it gives smooth nice taste to ice cream.
Just a recommendation to boss, employees were so warm, friendly and helpful. But whenever I visit this shop, I saw them. They need some rest or a shift system.

Gelataria Sincelo is a classic ice cream parlor in Porto that has been serving up delicious treats for over 40 years. With over 30 flavors to choose from, including options like black vanilla and green apple, there's something for everyone. In addition to their wide variety of ice creams and sorbets, they also offer crepes, waffles, and traditional Portuguese pastries to enjoy with your espresso.
We came here after dinner for a dessert and it didn’t disappoint. Served quickly, plenty of seats, great atmosphere and really good brownie with ice cream. Great value for money with good quality food. I would come back again.

Gelato was so-so experience.
It tasted fine but nothing that would totally blow you out. I guess for that price man should get little bit better, maybe more creamy, consistence.
However better than those ice creams full of stiffeners and everything that causes the ice cream to stick in the display case decorated and protruding upwards out of the cooling box.
+ I’ve tried only 3 different flavours but there are many to choose from so others could be different story.
Been here three times this year to enjoy some balls of ice cream. My experience is always good. I am not a fan of sweets, and unfortunately some of their flavours are way too sweet. I advise you to choose natural fruit flavours if you don't like something too sweet.

1. The location is strategic in Rua de Ceuta in Porto. It is only a few meters from Aliados.

OMG the ice cream here is so tasty. Was walking around and made a random stop here because this place looked different from the standard gelato shops. The prices are a touch on the high side. But the flavors are amazing, I had yogurt and green apple and actually tasted yogurt and green apple, not the overwhelming creamy flavor.
And they even have glass cups and metal spoons!!
We stopped by for dessert after dinner and tried the dulce de leche gelato. While it was decent, it didn’t have the creamy richness I’ve experienced at other gelato places. The flavor was fine, but overall, it wasn’t particularly memorable.
Insane!! We took a waffle and ice cream. Fresh made with a lot of toppings, only 6€. Highly recommend
The impression from outside is a classical homemade ice cream place. Many flavours to choose from (at least 24). We chose 2 scoops of Dulce de Leche and Dark Chocolate. A bit sweet for me but perfect for those who like it a bit sweeter.
Awesome (especially the fruit-flavors) ice creams. Perfect for a break after walking in the center of the city.

Best ice-cream in whole Porto. We came here three times and it was everytime very delicious. I love Oreo-ice-cream the most. It is so nice to sit in the garden behind and enjoying the Italian ice cream bowl with meldted chocolate.
We went back here 4 or 5 times. It's delicious. We loved all of our flavors and the garden seating outside. They have good fruity flavors, but also classics like vanilla and chocolate. We didn't get anything other than ice cream cones, but the smell of them doing waffles was amazing.

Okay y'all, this is my very first time trying Pistachio ice cream, "the real ice cream", it's really quite awesome! The sweet and salt...I get it and I really like it 😀 so, the shop! Come here, they take care of you and ensure you enjoy your selection. It was a little busy, but no wait time. No artificial colors or flavors, it's the real deal! You can sit at the bar, the little lounge area or outside. They serve ice cream, crepes, waffles, and cafe! Nice place!

Great and tasty ice cream with numerous flavours. It is located in Rua de Santa Catarina Porto. They have nice flavours of ice creams and macaroons. Indoor and outdoor seating are available for the clients. The queue was well-organized and made the service quick.
The ice cream was absolutely delicious, no doubt about it. But what truly made me want to leave a review was the incredibly friendly staff—Gonçalo Barros. We had a really nice chat with him this morning. He was the friendliest staff member we’ve met on our trip to Portugal. Great service and great vibes!

Highly recommended organic chocolate one, it's rich with flavor, not too sweet.
Today, July 25, at 3:45 PM, we decided to buy an ice cream cone and a cup. We gave 20 euros. The cashier returned the change in coins and immediately started serving the next customer. My mother looked at the change and realized she had been shorted 10 euros. She loudly said just one word: “Sorry!” The cashier silently handed her the 10 euros. He even didn’t ask a single question what was wrong. It felt like this wasn’t a mistake, but a deliberate attempt to deceive us. By the way, he didn't give us a bill!!
The ice cream was delicious, but we left with a negative impression.

Although having a long line, the ice cream is worth the wait! You can choose as many flavors as you want. The people were very nice. The cones got those beautiful flowers.

Best crepes I have ever tasted, because the dough is thin and tasty. The toppings and the ice cream are also very good. The staff is really nice, even though sometimes it takes a bit too long to get our food. The view is amazing!

Fine if you want ice cream take away. Unfortunetely we decided to have ice cream an coffee in. Service is very slow on Tuesday evening. We had to remind about our order, at the same time only around 5 table were taken by other visitors. Cup of coffee was dirty.
The worst Cremosi geladaria in Porto. They put less ice cream than in others and when I told them about that they said that they were told to put less (I’m wondering how the management didn’t tell the same to other shops). And the freezer isn’t set to good temperature so the ice cream is too soft.
The cafeteria is located next to the beach and has views of the port. It is located next to a park so the atmosphere is very good. The place has a nice decoration and transmits very good feelings.
The ice creams are very rich and have many flavors so that everyone can find what they want.
The prices are quite good considering the area in which it is located.
The waiters, at least the time we went, were pretty clueless and didn't pay much attention to us. We had a small mistake with one of the things we ordered and the truth is that they didn't try to fix it but resigned themselves to bringing us what they understood we had asked for.
Removing this small punctual misunderstanding, the site is very good, especially for the ice creams.
The cakes, beverages and other dessert dishes are very delicious but the staff rarely speaks English which might could be problematic for a touristic area like the Matosinhos beach with many non-portuguese speaking tourists and they mostly also are very slow. Furthermore the waiters inside the cafe seemed to be confused with some orders sometimes and a little bit unorganized or to let's say lost.
That's sad bc I strongly believe this cafe would be a better place if the service can get improve about the upper mentioned points
There's a considerable range of ice-cream flavours, and the crepes are rather tasty. It's in a nice area, in front of the beach, good for a stroll after dinner or a break after a working day or a beach day.

But not the atmosphere, the top floor with three half-dead plants full of thirst and the napkin tables full of dust. I spoke kindly to the waitress about it and she teased me, asking if I wanted an ice-cream to shut me up.

Tried the tiramisu coffee drink,iced Americano and the apple sorbet. The iced Americano came in the smallest glass possible and the green apple sorbet was way too sweet. The tiramisu was odd..felt like I soaked and lost my digestive biscuits at the bottom of a milky coffee .
i personally really enjoyed the passion fruit gelato! it was so delicious and they also gave us a sample of the passion fruit chocolate which was also so yummy!

Despite the high reviews, we struggled to find any pluses to this ice cream shop.. other than the fact that we enjoyed having a bench seat outside the store that oversees the street on a slope, the ice cream was really bad. The dark chocolate one wasn’t sweet, but nor did it taste like dark chocolate at all.. Stracciatella wasn’t great too, very bland once again.
This might be one of the blandest ice cream we have had, can’t find any positives to this.
Great vegan options, mostly sorbets but they are very creamy and not icy at all. Man behind the counter was very knowledgeable on which ice cream cones are not vegan and offered great alternatives for me. Thank you 🍦

The flavours in this gelato shop were the best and one of the best pistachio gelato I've ever had.
They had some great flavours but one we loved that was a bit different was their pineapple and mint, so fresh, so tasty, I wish I had more now.

It sits up a little street it was actually the other ice cream shop across the street that caught our eye and made us want ices cream but a few more steps we seen this place and rated as no.1 gelato place to visit on TripAdvisor 3 years running, well there was no chance we were missing out and going in to find out if they hype was real.
Not only is the hype real, but they have the most unreal staff, so friendly, helpful and chatty. They even remembered us on the 2nd visit (even if we looked like weirdos running in and fist pumping the air and the delight it was still open (Google times were wrong and website times are correct
The gelato place closed but a delicious ice pop place took over the spot. They have vegan and delicious dips for your pops. Try it out.
The popsicles were so refreshing especially on a hot day. Definitely a place to come with kids. They had sorbet as well and vegan chocolate for dipping. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous ice cream, great selection of flavours and generous scoops. I had the pistachio and caramel and they were both amazing. Slightly pricey as this is within the main tourist area but totally worth it!
I ate here every day during my week-long stay in Porto and I really enjoyed it.
I highly recommend the pistachio, it’s the best pistachio ice cream I’ve ever had, and I’ll go to Porto again just for this pistachio ice cream.

I ordered the pistachio and chocolate flavors. Both tasted a bit too sweet for my liking, and the portions seemed small considering the price of almost €6.
The location is great, in the middle of bustling Porto Street, with a good terrace.

My favourite place in Porto for breakfast, lunch, brunch and dinner. Everything here is very nice. The food, atmosphere, piano music or jazz, staff, location and price. We absolutely loved this place! We went there twice after dinner as they have a nice dessert menu + port wine pairing. The place is old with a nice art deco vibe.
In the evenings there is a pianist playing as well which makes the whole ambiance very pleasant :) definitely recommend

This is a great place to eat, the service it’s great and so are the meals, I had the most delicious tabla with two different tasty cheese and jamón serrano but unfortunately i couldn’t eat bread as the cafe don’t cater gluten free bread which it’s very unfortunate.
So glad we stopped here on our food tour! The decor and ambience was amazing. The torrada (buttered, toasted thick-sliced bread) and the brioche-croissant were both delicious. If you love chocolate, don't skip their hot chocolate! It honestly tastes like a cup of warm chocolate pudding. So good!
Let’s start with the good side of our visit: food was delicious, we had brunch for 15 € which it was great. Soup and Fish was very tasty and the dessert was divine too. What a shame that such a good meal was was served by a bad mannered server. The service was horrible. Our server was mad every time we would ask a question or just ask about the dishes. He was even rolling eyes every time he had to come to our table. Very disappointed.

This is diagonally up the hill across from the mall Via Caterina and is always busy, since it's in the hub of activity. With a 4.6, we decided to wait in line to order. The line moved very quickly.
With VERY LIMITED Portuguese vocabulary words, I knew I could point and smile at this cafeteria-style cafe.
Our cashier was so friendly and fluent in English, so when I ordered a small bacon quiche with a side salad, she asked if I'd like to get the menu (fixed menu), which included soup, fresh juice, quiche and salad.
We both ended up ordering the same thing and enjoyed the very tasty cream of mushroom soup with toasted almonds on top, the lightly dressed salad with fresh greens, tomatoes and almond slivers, the mango juice and the bacon, cheddar, ham mini quiche that was so flavorful and filled with meat. The crust was especially good.
We enjoyed all that, plus a coconut Brazilian treat and an Iced Tea for 15 euros. It was ready as soon as we finished paying.
As soon as we finished, my husband chose two types of gelato to enjoy in a cone. So creamy and good.
The whole experience was so good, enjoyed in their lovely and quiet back patio that I returned for lunch again today.
I ordered the same fixed menu and enjoyed the hearty and very tasty meal out front this time, watching the activity on the pedestrian-only street. Today, they gave me a buzzer after I paid and my lunch was ready in just a few minutes. All for 5,80 euros.
I highly recommend this friendly place and I know we'll be back again.

Red velvet is awesome. Pastel de nata cream is more dense than in other places and with a strong taste of vanilla. Americano is very strong. They also have other sweet and salty stuffs. A lot of seats inside and a little terrasse at the back.
This is an awesome place to not only get gelato, but also great tasting crepes (sweet and savory), as well as salads and coffee. The staff is very friendly, helpful and does everything with a smile. And, for us tourists, they all seem to speak excellent English, making ordering a breeze!

This cute little cafe is right next to the beach. At first glance it might seem like any other gelato shop, but very quickly I saw that they actually make the gelato there, with real ingredients and they had a really creative variety of flavors. It doesn't cost more than any other gelato in the area so why get inferior gelato somewhere else? I highly recommend the salted pistachio and the cinnamon.

Some people should not work with customers, if you hate tourists too. Our young lady was impatient and annoyed when we requested a sample each. And then had the nerve to correct my sister when she said she wanted the “mango one” referring to the Cheesecake Mango. I replied, well it’s got mango in it. The gelato was good but not stellar and the portions were not discernible between one or two scoops. But personalities are.
Still opened at 23h on a Tuesday, good for us. Staff was nice and friendly. But ice cream weren't good. Hazelnut was bitter and "odd" flavour. Lemon cheesecake wasn't creamy, very hard texture and the flavour was meh 😕, nothing enjoyable..... 9 euros for 2 medium size cups. I wouldn't recommend it .
