Cafe
Confeitaria do Bolhão is a historic pastry shop located in Porto, founded in 1896 and recently recovered by a Venezuelan family. It offers a wide variety of traditional Portuguese pastries, savory items, sandwiches, and an array of breads. Situated across the street from the iconic Bolhao market, it provides an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in Portuguese food culture.
We really enjoyed the time we had in the café. We came in around 2 o'clock in the afternoon for the sweets and also took a rest a bit. We ordered galao (like latte) and four pieces of pastries like pastel de nata, bola de berlim, estaladinho and folhado de chocolate. Everything tasted good and I was totally satisfied after all. Best of all, it costed 7 euros only! We will come again for sure.

Super authentic Portuguese bakery/pastry shop. Great for take away but also if you want to stay there. It's very lively and there is a constant coming and going of people. The waiters seem busy but are super nice. And the price is outstanding for what you get. Tried to try a bit of everything but the menue is too big for one visit
Jeevan T — Google review
Confeitaria do Bolhão is lively, hectic, and unmistakably local — exactly the kind of place that gives Porto its charm. Around thirty small tables pack the space, and you’ll likely sit shoulder to shoulder with other guests while two energetic waiters manage the entire room with impressive speed. Up front, the counter is filled with both sweet and savory pastries, all fresh and tempting. Be patient — it’s always busy — but the wait is worth it. Closed on Sundays, but on any other morning it’s a perfect spot to start the day, enjoy a proper coffee, and sample local specialties in an authentic atmosphere. If you have the time, it’s absolutely worth a visit.
Siniša M — Google review
Love this place. Delicious pastries, great coffee, open at 6am for early birds, fair prices, classic interior but what really made it for me was the charming service, comfortable helping tourists with limited English and limited Portuguese. Bonus points for providing a water dispenser to wash down the coffee with. The ordering system is okay once you work it out. Order at the counter, take a seat at the back, they'll find you with your order and give you an ID card for the bill. If you want to order more, you go back to the man overseeing the seating area, or the counter, with the same card. You pay on the way out, handing the card to the cashier at the exit/entrance. They don't label the baked goods, so if you're not a native (or even if you are?!), you're best taking a photo, showing it to the counter staff and saying the quantity you want (in English, was fine). I never used the toilets, so can't comment on them. It's a great place to get up early for, charge up, relax and get ready to attack the day, especially if like me you don't like hotel breakfasts (they're all the same and it's one less opportunity to go somewhere new). Also, getting up early in a hot country while it's cooler is a good idea, plus you can avoid a lot of crowds of tourists.

Confeitaria do Bolhao was one of my favorite cafes while in Porto. I visited several times for breakfast and bought many pastries to take home. All the pastries here were delicious. They were flaky and didn't stick to my mouth. The sandwiches were also delicious. The coffee and chocolate were also delicious. The service was excellent, efficient, and fast. The prices were very affordable.
Setiawaty L — Google review
Stepping into Confeitaria do Bolhão feels like stepping back in time. The old-world charm, mirrored walls, and smell of fresh pastries make it a true Porto classic. Staff were kind and quick even during the rush, and prices are fair. It gets busy, but that’s part of its magic. patience will be well compensated.A must-stop for anyone exploring the city! Tried their Bolo Rei, tigelinhas de Bolhao and another one. Loved all of them esp the bolo rei. Their Espresso are mini Espresso though :)
Asia M — Google review
This is a must go when visiting Porto. The place was founded in 1896, it has a very nice traditional atmosphere. We tried as much as we could from sweet and salty pastry. The variety is very vast but everything is good. It is located just across from Mercado do Bolhão which is worth to visit.
Mario P — Google review
Traditional Portuguese desserts disappointed me most of the time😔this passion fruit tart is nth as it should be, the tart is basically some digestive biscuit mixed with butter and not baked, and the mousse filling is just like flavourless milk jelly, with some sweet passionfruit jam on top. Not sure if other stuff would taste better but I saw most of the comments written in Chinese expressed the same feeling🤣⋯⋯

Pastry shop
Manteigaria is a renowned bakery that originated in Lisbon and has expanded to include a second shop in the capital as well as a location in Porto. The cozy and traditional atmosphere attracts both locals and tourists, who often enjoy their natas while observing the pastry chefs at work. While Pasteis de Belem is considered the original and best place for pasteis de nata, some argue that Manteigaria may now surpass it.
This place certainly deserves its ratings for excellent egg tarts. You will never go wrong with these tarts which have very flaky pastry and a soft custard filling, without being too mushy. The coffee is decent to help wet the throat after the pastry crumbles in your mouth! Highly recommend this pastry shop.
Avril A — Google review
OMG super fresh pastel de nata were delicious. Loved watching them make them right in front of you and then they serve them to you warm and tasty. So glad we popped in here for a nice treat. Definitely check it out while in Porto.
P. K — Google review
A lovely place to enjoy traditional pastel de nata. The service is quick, the staff are friendly, and the pastries are a delicious. They also come in cute packaging, making them a great gift option.
Iva P — Google review
Honestly, 11/10 would go again. This lil piece of portuguese deliciousness stole my heart and feels like im being reborn and ready to get baptised again in the church right to next it. I’m not joking when I say I am seriously considering to move to Porto just for these tiny bad bois to be entering my mouth for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and obviously as a midnight snack. If you don’t go here first thing upon arriving in Porto you are definitely missing out, which, honestly, you should avoid at all costs as this is and should be a national treasure and gift to mankind even though we don’t deserve it!!!!
Martin F — Google review
This dessert is incredibly delicate and crispy ❤️ The price is €1.40. İt's the best nata in Porto. We also ordered a cappuccino, which is served with foam and cocoa powder. We really enjoyed it!
Nara — Google review
Manteigaria lives up to the hype—each pastel de nata is a flaky, creamy wonder that’s best enjoyed warm and on the go. You’ll think one is enough… until you walk out with four more.
Noel M — Google review
Delicious pastel de nata in a good location. Quick line up and friendly staff. We also had cappuccino with it. No place to sit but loved the store! The taste was phenomenal.
Mary K — Google review
YUM! Love the Pastel De Nata from here! They definitely have a nutmeg or spice to them that sets them apart! We got them fresh out of the oven so they were super hot and fresh! A must visit when you are in Portugal, you can find this bakery all over!

Pastry shop
Fábrica da Nata is a renowned pastry shop in Porto, Portugal, celebrated for its exquisite Portuguese custard tarts, known as pastel de nata. The shop has gained popularity among locals and visitors alike for its dedication to creating authentic and top-quality pastries. Situated in the heart of Porto, near popular tourist attractions like Avenida dos Aliados, Fábrica da Nata offers a convenient stop for those exploring the city.
One of the best nata I had during my trip to Portugal — incredibly flaky crust and perfectly creamy filling. The texture and flavor were spot on! Besides the nata, the other pastries were also delicious and fresh. Worth trying!Prices are reasonable, and the overall quality is excellent. Highly recommended!
Yuchen M — Google review
We must have tried 5 different places and this place made the best - flaky crust, served warm and the custard was not too sweet but creamy at the same time. We've went back multiple times throughout our trip! Amazing tarts and their breakfast treats are good too.
Clarice N — Google review
One the best pastel de nata that I have tasted so far in Portugal. The place is pretty busy you have to wait a few minutes until you can order but it really pays off, you can also see the making of the pastel inside. Great expierience, great taste:) definitely a must try if you are visiting the city:)
Katarina P — Google review
The Pastel de Nata were still warm and very tasty. Affordable (1.40€ per unit and they also offer à discount if you buy per 6).
Pierre L — Google review
If you’re looking for the perfect breakfast spot in Portugal, this is absolutely the place! The coffee is rich and smooth, the pastries are fresh out of the oven, and the Pastéis de Nata are simply the best I’ve ever had, crispy, golden layers on the outside with a creamy, warm custard inside that melts in your mouth. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it the ideal way to start your morning. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this café is a must-visit for a truly authentic taste of Portugal.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Best Natas in Porto — and a Perfect Spot to Enjoy Them! Fábrica de Natas is an absolute delight! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the aroma of freshly baked pastéis de nata that instantly makes you smile. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always serve with a genuine smile — their great service really stands out. The natas themselves are perfection: crisp, flaky pastry with a creamy, rich custard filling that’s just the right balance of sweetness. Easily the best I’ve had in Porto! Pair one (or three) with a coffee or a glass of port for the full experience. The patio is beautiful — a peaceful, sunlit spot right in the heart of the city where you can relax and watch the world go by. If you’re visiting Porto, do yourself a favor and stop by Fábrica de Natas. It’s a true taste of Portugal at its best! 🇵🇹☕🥧

Natas D'Ouro, located in Baixa do Porto, is a must-visit spot for indulging in Portuguese egg tarts with a twist. This project by Pastelaria Soares offers a unique take on the traditional recipe, featuring variations such as Port wine, chocolate, caipirinha, orange, and lemon flavors. The establishment's innovative approach to custard tarts has made it stand out among other pastry shops in Porto.
A nice place for a morning coffee and pastel de nata. Pastel has a very crunchy base, with us filling that is soft and hot. Pastel literally just came out of the oven when the place opened up at 8:30. Interior is sophisticated looking and very welcoming. 2 espressos and a nata was a very reasonable €3.20
Raymond L — Google review
I stopped by this cozy little coffee shop in the heart of Porto and really enjoyed the experience. I ordered a cappuccino and a traditional natas (pastel de nata) — it was fresh, creamy, and had that perfect balance of crispiness on the outside and softness inside. The cappuccino was smooth and paired really well with the sweet. The place had a warm, local vibe, and the staff were friendly. Definitely worth a stop if you’re exploring the city center. Just missing that extra something to make it a full 5 stars, but overall a lovely experience!
Moataz A — Google review
Amazing and original types of pastel de natas, they also have affordable packs for nata + vine! Amazing place in Porto!!
Defne A — Google review
The Nata was the best I’ve had in Portugal! (My 6th one) You need to get them warm.
Cliff L — Google review
The flavors of Pastéis des natas they have is great and it helps that you can opt for a bottle of wine to go with it instead of your traditional coffee. If I recall correctly they also have a wine flavored nata that was great.
Lorraine H — Google review
This is definitely one of the nicest places in the city to have a relaxing Pastel de Nata experience! So many choices regarding the Pastel de Nata taste! You can have it with Port Wine, Orange, the traditional way, etc… The person who works there is very kind and social, knows how to have a conversation. The place looks really nice, kinda fancy in a way! You can also see the lady doing her job! Baking the Pastel de Nata pastries and all that. A must try! Amazing experience, we always come back here whenever we visit Porto, the lady behind the counter even remembers me from last year, awesome! Coming back again as soon as I set foot in Porto! Thank you for the awesome experience ever since I first visited!
Alexandre S — Google review
We discovered savory pasteis de nata or Portuguese egg tarts and got the 6-pack: codfish; beef; alheira (a type of Portuguese sausage), vegetable, sardine and chicken. My favs are the cod, vegetable and beef. This place also has a variety of unique sweet tarts that we may or may not try on another day. There is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outdoors with the view of the river Douro to enjoy.
Sandra C — Google review
We tried all of their sweet pasteis de nata. Port wine was unique and tasty. It's definitely a favourite. We liked the orange one as well. The chocolate one has chocolate inside as well- not just on top. Traditional ones are easy to have a couple in one sitting. Very mice flaky crust. Recommend sharing each tart with someone for sampling!

Cafe
Majestic Café, established in 1921, is a Belle Epoque-era coffee shop located in the Baixa district. It is considered the sixth most beautiful coffee shop globally and has been a traditional hangout for artists, musicians, politicians, and intellectuals. The cafe's ornate interior features carved wood, mirrors, chandeliers, marble walls, gilt-framed mirrors, sculptured cherubs and ornate Art Deco decor.
Such a beautiful cafe restaurant. I love it so much. The inside of cafe is so stunning and it’s more like old Hollywood movies, I feel like I’m in a different world. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Their cafe tastes amazing and also the dessert is so delicious. I just wish they could use AC in hot summer days, but overall everything is perfect and for sure next time when I visit Porto I’ll go to there.
Sevda A — Google review
Must see stop in Porto. Interior design is so traditional you feel part of a different era inside. Service is fine and fast. You probably have to wait in line for a table but in my case it was no longer than 20 minutes. The menu has tons of options, tea service and desserts. If you dont want to spend as much money maybe its better to come here in the afternoon for coffee, tea or dessert :). Prices are elevated.
Daniela B — Google review
Majestic Café has a great view over Dam Square, making it a great spot to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The beer is good and reasonably priced, but the food is disappointing and not worth the stop if you’re hungry. Service is fair, nothing special but gets the job done. Best enjoyed for a drink with a view rather than a full meal.
Chadi R — Google review
I had dinner at the Majestic Café in Porto. The café is unbelievably gorgeous — both inside and out — and truly worth seeing. Unfortunately, the service was quite disappointing. I ordered a Francesinha, which was just okay, nothing special. The meal was also very expensive for what it was. Overall, I’d recommend visiting the Majestic Café to admire its stunning architecture and atmosphere, but not for the food. It’s perfect for taking pictures, less so for dining.
Murillo P — Google review
We totally knew what we were getting into with this TOURIST cafe - we knew it would be a wait, and expensive, because of the tourist nature of it. However, that was fine - we were on vacation and it really was quite pretty inside. We actually had a lovely time waiting in line outside in the queue, in fact, chit chatting with other tourists. I think we might have waited about 30 mins on a Sunday late morning. It was a photo oppo for sure, but the food was good too. We only had some tea/coffee and dessert items, but it was served quickly, attractively and friendly and it tasted good. It was a "one and done" for us, but I'm still glad we went for a snack.
C M — Google review
Such a special experience which I will never forget. The cafe really lives up to its name. I had the duck with red port sauce and potatoes which was just perfect followed by a gorgeous ginger, lime and white port cocktail. The service was world class and atmosphere electric. It was the best 50 Euros I've ever spent! Thank you so much to my Portuguese friend who recommended this place to me!
Rouna A — Google review
Very elegant place with a very old, special atmosphere. I highly recommend it. Kind and attentive service and really excellent coffees and food, in keeping with the standard of the place.

You would think that for €12 for pair of okay scones there might be toilet paper in the womens restroom, but no, not possible. The inside is beautiful, but the food does not move the earth. Service was exceptional. Just go inside and take a photo because its worth the trip.

Leitaria da Quinta do Paço is a well-established brand with 9 stores across mainland Portugal, dating back to its foundation in 1920. Initially focused on dairy products, it has expanded its offerings to include delicious cakes and eclairs with various toppings. The café is famous for serving coffee alongside their renowned eclairs filled with Chantilly and milk chocolate icing. The interior is adorned with vintage photographs from the 1920s, showcasing the historical popularity of their Chantilly.
This was recommended by a Portuguese friend. Over the moon that she mentioned it to us. Famous for its eclairs. These celebrity items include classic (chocolate), lemon, caramel and many other flavours. Most of them have soft icing on top, but there is one with a brittle topping. They sell other sweet things like cakes and Berliner (doughnuts) too. We got a menu (Brunch Guloso) which included a croissant filled with Chantilly cream, a sneclair, orange juice and a cafe espresso. The croissant is not like a french one, as it's more like a brioche rather than flaky pastry. We thought it might be odd with cream inside, but we loved it. The sneclair is a savoury eclair and it's was an outstanding invention. We had it with eggs and bacon. It was a light meal, which was exactly what we needed. Then we had 2 small eclairs (so we could try more flavours rather than having just 1 big one). We got a classic and passion fruit and mango. They were nice. It's pretty much like an original (i.e. French) eclair, but slightly wider. We liked them very much nonetheless. In all we spent €10,90 and think it was value for money. Paid by credit card. Plenty of seating inside and outside just before 1.45pm on a Tuesday in September. Definitely worth a visit for tourists! They have other outposts if you can't make it over here. Wow. Wife craving chocolate cake. Honeymoon. Uber eats. Happy wife. I’m not a dessert guy…but we ordered a few eclairs as well and DAMN. Cake was 10/10. Eclairs 10/10. Shop was out of some original order items but they called me directly! Great service, great sweets. Bravo.

Super delicious and freshly made! Eclairs are flaky, with a sweet cream and chocolate topping - I usually don’t love cream filled pastries, but this was so yum. The red velvet cake is delicious, and so light so it doesn’t make you feel too full.

It was okay. I got a classic eclair and it tasted like it might have been old bc the pastry was very dry and the cream was too sweet but a little airy…i wouldn’t have paid 2.20 for it, maybe a euro.

This is my absolute favorite bakery. Everything I get is so delicious. I can’t say it’s the most affordable place but it’s definitely well worth it. Especially the carrot cake is incredible. I would get it every single day if it fit my budget just a bit more. 10/10

Recommend the bakery, not so much the cafe. If you want to eat there, do not make the mistake of ordering from the cafe menu they give you! (Limited options, cold and unappealing pastries). Instead, take a picture of the pastry you want from the bakery and show it to the waiter. I didn’t realize they had this option until I overheard a staff member telling another customer :(
Edlyn P — Google review
Bakery with many options! We ordered a variety of the pastries to eat in. Weirdly none of the savoury pastries are heated up, so everything was cold and honestly not very good. The carrot / ginger cake and chocolate cake were the best things we got. Might be better to order as a takeaway to heat up at home.
KDD — Google review
unfortunately highly would not recommend the mango smoothie. it was 4.40€, but it was extremely bland and did not have any milk or cream (isn’t that what a smoothie means?). it tasted like a little bit of mango and a lot of water. pastel de nata was just ok, can get better elsewhere

Really good place. It is busy all the time... so may you have to wait a bit, but it's worthy. You have to try éclair there. I love it. Prices are reasonable

Friendly staff and nice terrace, the only con was that the pastries were all cold when the salty ones that we chose were supposed to be at least quite warm

Nata Lisboa is a renowned chain of pastel de nata-focused cafes with locations across Portugal and in several other countries. The cafe, located on Rua das Flores in Porto, is celebrated for its delicious Portuguese custard tarts known for their crispy crust and sublime cream filling. Nata Lisboa's cozy atmosphere and ample seating make it a popular spot for freelancers seeking a productive workspace, offering free Wi-Fi and conveniently located power outlets.
Delicious breakfast. Good service. Location is excellent. Also enjoyed sitting on the patio with a glass of port wine. Downside to any patio is that we have to deal with the smokers.

Good flaky pastry, custard wasn’t the best. Service was non existent. Perhaps from the crowds and inefficient order. If you are ordering takeaway you can order at the counter but if you are planning to sit down you need to wait for the waitstaff to come take your order which took like 15/20minutes even though I only wanted 2 tarts. Decided to takeaway instead. Better places in Porto for egg tarts so can give this place a miss

This was an odd experience, with more wrong than right, but some real positives at the same time. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch, liked the location and the look of the menu, and sat down. We both opted for the Lisboa salad at 11 euros 50, including a soft drink and one of the Nata pasties, which is a very good price by UK standards. I ordered a sardine salad, and my wife ordered a Mediterranean salad. The waitress came back and checked if I definitely wanted sardines and I confirmed that I did. We waited around 35 minutes for the food, and when it came I got a tuna salad instead of a sardine one. I really didn't want to wait for another prolonged period for it to be replaced, so I just ate it. Both salads were very good. We then had our Nata pastry, which was spectacular, and a coffee, which was also very good. Despite the very slow service, and the wrong order, I came away with a great deal of sympathy for the member of staff. She was friendly, cheerful, and working hard under difficult circumstances, trying to do everything herself. Since COVID hospitality has been struggling across the world and it's very difficult to get the balance of service, ingredients and price right. This was a nice place to watch the world go by, with a lot to see on a warm day, so it wasn't a great deal of hardship to have a long wait. Everyone didn't feel that way however, and there was some grumbling and complaining from other customers.
James W — Google review
Had to wait almost one hour to be served. I tried ordering directly from the counter but they won’t let you if you are eating in. I ended up having to wait for a waiter who was clearly occupied elsewhere and ignored my table for more than 40 minutes. The Pasta de Nata was nice but I don’t think it was exceptional and worth the wait. I like mine a bit crunchy on the outside and that was personally missing. I also got a Galão, which was good. Overall quite cheap (except the cappuccino which is overpriced). I spent under €4.

This place serves a most generous brunch menu for only €26 for two persons. With bread, jams, ham, cheeses, yoghurt, coffee, and freshly pressed orange juice, it has everything you need before venturing out on the streets of Porto.

Enjoyed having my breakfast here. Very nice croissant with ham and cheese. For sure the Nata is amazing! Surprisingly they have a staff who speaks Cantonese too! So good to see familiar faces when travelling. Will definitely recommend this place to my friends who’re visiting Porto!

As a tourist, this place is a paradise, especially if you're feeling weary from your walking tour. It's conveniently located right next to the Capella de las Almas. However, it's unfortunate that the power outlets for charging aren't functioning. Overall, I absolutely love their pastel de nata and hot chocolate! The toilets are also clean.

Tavi - Confeitaria da Foz is a renowned pastry shop located in the upscale Foz neighborhood of Porto, offering stunning views of the ocean. Despite being a bit distant from downtown, Tavi is worth the visit for its delectable breakfast options including the best scrambled eggs with bacon in town, delicious toasts, and an irresistible plum cake. It's an ideal spot to indulge and take your time, especially on a rainy day or when you're feeling lazy.
The location is super convenient, right by the beach. The staff was friendly and welcoming. While the food wasn’t the most delicious, there was a wide selection of healthy options on the menu, and the prices were quite reasonable. I especially enjoyed the coffee tonic — it was excellent! The atmosphere inside is very cozy, with a beautiful view from the window. Overall, I recommend this place
Ao T — Google review
This place has an incredible view. On the first floor, there's an enclosed area with large windows opening up to an ocean view, and on the second floor, there's a small balcony where you can enjoy the scenery. The girls selling desserts are very pleasant, engaging, and ready to recommend. The service is also quite attentive. However, unexpectedly, we didn't like any of the desserts or coffee. We ordered cappuccino, lemon tart, and meringue. The cappuccino was unimpressive, and my friend said she didn’t like it at all. The tart was overly sweet. Typically, lemon is added to balance the sweetness, but this tart lacked lemon. The jam was too sweet, and the lemon flavor was almost nonexistent. The dessert was difficult to eat because it was too sugary. The meringue was simply dry like a cracker, making it unpleasant to eat. I would say it’s worth visiting for the view, but not for the desserts. The desserts, which should be the establishment’s specialty, turned out to be completely disappointing. So decide for yourself whether to visit or not.

Most importantly: Here you can have a cup of coffee with a lovely view of the ocean. Everything else is a bonus. The coffee is reasonable, the cakes are okay, I recommend the English cake; a variety of breakfast options. The bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible (in the basement, lots of stairs), and even older people may have difficulty getting down. The service is friendly.

Tavi in Foz is our house café. We absolutely love this place, with staff who remember how you take your coffee, good manu with traditional and also innovative dishes. It's a place for a light meal, with excellent view of the ocean. They serve also healthy dishes, vegetarian and vegan. With vegan they can improve a bit with protein (like tofu in the salad or cheakpeas), but all in all, they have consistently good light food, and always with a smile. Don't miss the English cake. It's super moist and with good spices.

We stumbled across this place while in Foz and loved it. The Portuguese tarts were the best we've had here ( pastry light and crisp, filling creamy), best cappuccino but a little different to what we're used to, mint infusion with real leaves was wonderful. Delightful service ( the lady in the bakery section had excellent English) and loved the sea view. Not so many people when we visited and the weather was over ast so the balcony not open but that was fi e by us.

Petúlia is a candy store with a charming and authentic vibe, perfect for sweet tooths. The croissants are distinctive and buttery with a lightly toasted exterior, as well as the Bolo Rei (a Brazilian pastry) and artisanal chocolates. It's also popular for its pastries like doughnuts and cake, which are all delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and attentive, making it an excellent place to stop by on any occasion.
I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl, my mother would go the shoe stores next to Petulia and after we would get a chocolate mouse/pyramid. It’s a cake made with older cakes, that I simply love. I tried in other places, but none compare to this. They don’t have it every day, you need to be lucky 😍 I tried other cakes, pastries etc. My birthday as been the majority of my life from here. They also have super delicious savory treats like the very Portuguese Rissol de Carne. It is one of the places of the city, anyone that has lived here would know this place. Today I had an ham and cheese heated croissant and it was delicious, i comfortably sat there reading my book and enjoying my treat. It is a place to visit and taste

I was feeling nostalgic and decided to leave a review. I adore this place. We stayed at the hotel above and headed down for breakfast. Let me begin by saying I do not have a sweet tooth, so I focused on the savoury Portuguese croquettes and snacks they serve. They were simply the best I had in Portugal, I could not find anything better than Petulia's. You can really taste the culture and care they put into everything they do. This place is still one of my highlights of my Portugal trip and WILL definitely go back when I'll be in Porto again.

We had the most amazing breakfast experience here! What really stood out were the pastries, both the traditional ones and their own specialty creations. Everything tasted homemade and absolutely delicious. The coffee was also top-notch — rich, smooth, and served just right. On top of all that, the service was outstanding. Our waiter was so kind, welcoming, and spoke excellent English, which made everything so easy and pleasant. This place is a true gem, highly recommended for anyone who loves a quality breakfast in a cozy atmosphere!

I was referred to by the waiter to taste their Red velvet cake and it's the best I've tasted in Porto thus far. I thought to try the other cakes to, and this chocolate one was absolutely delicious! The waiters are so wits about, ambiance is a phifisticated wealthy feeling. It's not a place to sit for hours on end as the tables are small, and close to one another, and have a high turnover of fast moving heads. Worth it for a quick tea time. Not sure of other menue options. I keep going back to taste other things :) I would like to work there sometimes, but the chair is not too comfortable, for a long period of time.
Mukti — Google review
The atmosphere was pleasant, but the food was practically inedible. The so-called ‘special’ ham and cheese sandwich and the chocolate croissants were a complete disaster, and even the coffee was far below average. Definitely not worth coming for the food

Highly recommended. Definitely in a non touristy area of Porto. Local middle aged clientele. July 2023. The cake pictured was tender and moist. Very nice Cafe!! Very nice decorated and most important of all: the food and drinks were of high quality. The staff were super nice to me and the group I went with. They served us with kindness and a smile. I had a Chicken Burger as main dish, with fries and as desert some cakes. Above that I had a English tea. Also those things were very delicious. Also the cafe isn’t too hot even if it’s hot outside. I highly recommend it.

I rally wanted to like this bakery because it was in a central location with friendly staff, and was popular with tourists and locals. But unfortunately, the baked goods and coffee just wasn’t up to the standards that I came to expect in Porto. Pastel de Nata tasted like it was a bit old, especially compared to other natas that I had in the city. The croissant also was old and had a mushy texture. I think the most disappointing was the coffee. I asked for an americano but they extracted the espresso for way too long so it was a bit too bitter. I would love to try again when I’m back in the city but I can’t wholeheartedly recommend this place to others when I know there are other great cafes and bakeries around

My friend and I saw that there were many people so we went in for a pistachio and chocolate pastel de nata, the tarts were freezing cold and they were super sweet, not to mention that the pastry crust weren’t crispy anymore. Excellent choice of pastries and traditional sandwiches and breakfast treats. Toasted croissant with jam being the perfect start for the day. Mostly local guests hence the pricing is not at all like many of the tourist traps in Porto - very reasonable. A little gem in a gentrified neighborhood.

We were looking for an authentic bakery in Porto for a few days until this place was recommended by our local guide. I have to say it did not disappoint. We ended up ordering many items from pizza to local Portuguese delicacies. Whilst we were there it got busy and there were no available tables so we waited for 10mins. We discovered this place two years ago when we visited Porto. We went there for breakfast most of the days we were in Porto. Clearly a place frequented mainly by locals- normally a really good sign. A lot of banter going on between customers and the lady on the till, so it had a nice atmosphere. We'd been wanting to try the éclairs as the Portuguese variety is quite different from the French, we'd been told. Unfortunately, the pastry was hard and stale, though the custard filling was nice. The chocolate on top snapped easily and too often ended up on the floor: a grievous situation! Altogether, quite disappointing.

Vegana By Tentúgal is a vegan cafeteria and grocery store located in Invicta, open for about 2 years. The focus here is on providing natural products that respect the entire ecosystem, sourced from local producers to ensure freshness. In Porto, this charming dessert shop offers a delightful vegan twist on traditional Portuguese sweets like Pasteis de Nata and Tentugal pastries. It's known for being one of the few places offering truly vegan Pastel de Nata.
We found Vegana by Tentúgal by chance and left super happy! The dish of the day was a delicious homemade stew, full of flavor and made with fresh ingredients. For just €8, you get a starter and a main—an amazing deal for such high-quality, homemade food. Plus, the owner is incredibly hardworking and kind, making the experience even better. A great spot for a tasty, affordable vegan meal in Porto. I highly recommend if you are looking for a healthy meal!

Nice vegan cafe which also sells a small range of vegan groceries (including some frozen food). I tried the francesinha sandwich and also had a camomile tea. I was impressed with the generosity of the fillings - some of the meat alternatives were great but the thicker layers (which felt more like a burger) were a bit dry. I think that's a fault with the product rather than how it was prepared by the cafe. The sauce was tasty, and also paired well with the chips. Staff were friendly and attentive

This review is just for the vegan pastel de nata, which is soy based. I was really impressed with it. The pastry was flaky and the filling was silky and smooth. Price was less than the traditional version I bought earlier today too! Really well done.

Great cafe and shop. The lady that works there is super lovely, very friendly and welcoming! Lots of tasty options, including toasties and a dish of the day (changes daily). They have different pastries by the till and perhaps the best vegan Nata's in Porto (also the cheapest, and yes we have tried a lot of Nata's)! The shop is well stocked with an amazing variety of vegan products, including almost a whole fridge of cheese 🧀 I'd recommend trying the prego (steak in bread)! THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH, AND PORTUGUESE BANK CARDS

The customer service is out of this world. A very cute, quaint and clean shop that offers an array of vegan options. I had the French Fries (cooked to perfection) and the Infamous Francesinha Sandwich (hey 🤷🏾‍♂️ when in Portugal, eat like the Portuguese). The sandwich was rich and tasty, but be forewarned the gravy has almost a fermented or vinegar sent to it however, it’s not sour tasting. All and all it was a great experience and at least nice to taste it. I also had a cup of organic barley! It was great and gave me the same aroma of coffee without the caffeine. Would definitely eat here again!!!

Café Santiago is a laid-back dining spot renowned for its delectable egg-topped sandwiches and hearty comfort fare, along with a selection of beers. The star of the menu is the Francesinha, Portugal's take on the croque-monsieur, featuring layers of cured ham, smoke-cured pork sausage seasoned with garlic and paprika, chipolata, roast meat smothered in melted cheese and sometimes topped with a fried egg.
We had the steak sandwich and had it split into two portion just add €1+. I can’t remember. But you’d get extra eggs and fries as it’s split to two plates. Well worth it as we’re not big eaters plus we then get to order another dish! Service was fast and prompt. We were early so no queue for us.

I visited this restaurant hoping to enjoy an authentic francesinha, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The biggest issue was the service: the staff was unprofessional and overly familiar, calling me "my love" and touching my arm, which made me uncomfortable. I don't know if it is part of portuguese culture but a more respectful and professional attitude would be greatly appreciated as a tourist. As for the food, while I understand that francesinha is a local specialty and many people love it, it wasn’t to my personal taste. However, I respect that this might just be a matter of preference. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience, mainly due to the service.
Caroline ( — Google review
Good afternoon, I had dinner here today. And I am very disappointed. At first glance, the food looked good. But the reality was completely different. The meat smelled slightly off, but more importantly, it wasn't cooked through. I didn't finish my meal and reported everything to the waiter. I was asked if I wanted the meat cooked further. I said no, because there wasn't much left. Then the waiter took the food away and that was it. I find it really outrageous to serve someone raw meat and not even apologise, let alone make the customer pay the full amount. I understand that this can happen sometimes, but the staff's reaction must be different!!!!

Francesinha is a Porto classic, and around Café Santiago you’ll find several places specializing in it. This restaurant, with entrances from both Rua de Santo Ildefonso and Rua de Passos Manuel, clearly takes its Francesinha seriously — it’s offered in several variations. As one reviewer said perfectly: “I’m glad I tried it, but I don’t need to try it again.” It’s definitely an acquired taste, but hearty and filling — arrive hungry. My wife had Bacalhau à Braga, which was nicely prepared, and we finished with Aletria — a dessert made from thin noodles simmered in sweet milk and dusted with cinnamon. Service was friendly and quick, rounding out a solid local experience.

Tried the famous francesinha at Café Santiago and it delivered. Rich, hearty, and indulgent, with a perfectly balanced spicy beer sauce. The portion is generous, the meat is tender, and the melted cheese blanket is pure comfort. Service was quick and friendly despite the crowd. If you are in Porto and want to try the city’s signature dish, this is the place. Go hungry.

Incredibly delicious francesinha. Came here solo and immediately got a seat at the bar. Short wait for the sandwich. The sauce is delicious and comforting, and the meats with bread are amazing. Step into Café Guarany, a timeless Portuguese café that has been serving patrons since 1933. Located in the bustling heart of Porto, this elegant establishment offers outdoor seating and hosts regular fado nights, providing an authentic cultural experience. The café's interior exudes old-world charm with vintage décor and a nod to South American indigenous Guarany tribes. Renowned for its association with music, Café Guarany is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to enjoy espresso while soaking in the sophisticated ambiance.

We absolutely loved this place! We went there twice after dinner as they have a nice dessert menu + port wine pairing. The place is old with a nice art deco vibe. In the evenings there is a pianist playing as well which makes the whole ambiance very pleasant :) definitely recommend

The atmosphere is straight from the thirties, the service impeccable and often line music is playing in the background. The menu offers classics of the Portuguese cuisine, simply prepared yet tasty.

Let me tell you…. This is a great place to eat, the service it’s great and so are the meals, I had the most delicious tabla with two different tasty cheese and jamón serrano but unfortunately i couldn’t eat bread as the cafe don’t cater gluten free bread which it’s very unfortunate.

So glad we stopped here on our food tour! The decor and ambience was amazing. The torrada (buttered, toasted thick-sliced bread) and the brioche-croissant were both delicious. If you love chocolate, don't skip their hot chocolate! It honestly tastes like a cup of warm chocolate pudding. So good!

Let’s start with the good side of our visit: food was delicious, we had brunch for 15 € which it was great. Soup and Fish was very tasty and the dessert was divine too. What a shame that such a good meal was was served by a bad mannered server. The service was horrible. Our server was mad every time we would ask a question or just ask about the dishes. He was even rolling eyes every time he had to come to our table. Very disappointed.

Incredible coffee shop and roaster. We had great drinks, great croissants, and the service and vibe were incredible. Super kind people and a great place to hang out and enjoy coffee. We visited several times during our trip to Porto!

We stayed here for our last night in Portugal- the room was spotless, very aesthetic, had a small kitchen with stove, microwave and a fridge, washroom was clean with a big shower. When we checked in we told the receptionist that we were sad to miss the breakfast the next day as we had an early flight to catch, they told us they would leave a basket for us. I did not think this meant they would bring us everything that they usually serve for breakfast! We were very pleasantly surprised and were very grateful. We would 100% recommend this place and their cafe, and we would love to stay here next time we come to Porto!

These apartments are close to the river front, just back up an alleyway which makes them quiet enough to be hidden but close enough to be in the heart of the city. We visited this morning to use the cafe 7g roaster. Lovely cafe in a contemporary design. They do pastries, eggs Benedict, royale and florentine. We had Benedict and a granola/fruit yoghurt bowl along with a cappuccino each. Really welcoming staff, and a good vibe. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space. Well priced for tourist centre and pushing a sustainable coffee vibe. Well worth a visit for breakfast in Porto

Review for the restaurant: One of the best coffee shops in the region in my opinion. Also.. An excellent place to have brunch. We had the brunch for two it included 2 coffees of your choice and 2 orange juices, croissants, avocado toasts, cheese and ham, pancakes all for 28 euro.

This restaurant is a true gem! It’s very cozy and tucked away on a charming street just around the corner from the busy riverside promenade along the Douro. The service is excellent, and the staff are incredibly friendly. The coffee is fantastic too. It’s a perfect little spot to escape the crowds and the heat — I love it!

A modern coffee roastery with a beautiful interior. We were here on Halloween, and they had lovely decorations. The coffee was great, and we also had breakfast — eggs royal — which I recommend. A special plus for the waiter, who was very friendly and positive. I definitely recommend this roastery.

We found this outstanding coffee shop wandering around, and we were delighted by our experience. Excellent coffee, excellent food and happy workers with the kind of cheerfulness we love to see from people in the service industry. It’s getting to be rare to find upbeat personalities and smiling faces these days. 7g has this team!! 😎

Castro - Atelier de Pastéis de Nata is a must-visit gem in Porto, Portugal, offering an exceptional pastry experience. The freshly made pastries are served warm and of top quality as they are made throughout the day. Visitors can enjoy watching the pastries being made in the chic and minimalist interior of the shop. The filling is not overly sweet, and the puff pastry has just the right amount of crunch.
This was our go-to place for Pasteis de Nata and we loved it so much! The interior was beautiful, stuff super friendly, and there was decent sitting space 😌✨💙 Loved the coffee too! The only thing is that if you take it for take-away how we did couple of times, they don’t give you cinnamon/powdered sugar to go but you can let yourself out inside.
Karolina P — Google review
Popped in with curiosity after seeing a line out the door. I’d tried the two other top pastel de nata places and enjoyed, but this one - the pastry was incredibly flaky and the filling delectably warm, silky and gooey. Quickly rose to the top as one of my favourites.
Mel D — Google review
Deliciously flaky crust, a bit (too) sweet. Served warm. Less of a set custard and more gooey. The cinnamon powder you can shake on is so flavorful. Expect a queue.
N I — Google review
Castro is a small, lively spot with fantastic pastel de nata ❤️ perfectly creamy and flavorful. The place is usually busy, with a bit of a queue, but the service is friendly and fast. The girls at the counter were very kind and the espresso was excellent. I took mine to go in a carton and warmed it up later - still delicious! A great little place worth the wait!
Manana J — Google review
Castro – Atelier de Pastéis de Nata is fantastic! The pastéis de nata are freshly baked, perfectly crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. Every bite is full of flavor and truly authentic. The shop is charming and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a sweet treat in the city. Highly recommend!
Samira — Google review
Castro was the first place we tried Pastel de Nata, and it did not disappoint. They came out fresh from the oven, and the cream was perfectly warm and oozing. Out of all the ones we tried in Portugal, this was probably our second favorite, right behind Pastéis de Belém. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Lisbon.
Jonathan A — Google review
Absolutely the best Pasteis de Nata! But also the most expensive. My first try of Castro was in Lisbon and immediately I knew it was different from the rest. Just the right amount of sweetness and burnt just right. After trying out other brands, there was no denying that I would still be coming back for this despite the long lines and it being more expensive than the other shops.
Bianca P — Google review
Castro is my and my friends favorite nata place. Its not as sweet as most of these in other places but as crispy as it can be. Very delicious! Its slightly higher in price than the some places however definitely worth it

Stopped for breakfast after arriving in Porto. Tasty snacks at a great price. The Pastel de nata’s were really tasty and bigger than others I tried in Porto!

They have couple of vegan and vegetarian option. Spinach cheese was very tasty and filling one. Coffee was good. During 2nd visit tried empada vegan. It was ok. Need more filling in it.

The espresso and pastries were so good they weren't ruined by the active street fight we witnessed as we consumed them. Even the rock throwing could not deter us. The staff handled themselves with great grace. The coconut pastry (dont know it's name) was especially delicious.

Can't write a review somehow. This was a waffle coffee/speculaas cake that tried to be all but was neither. It lacked a very clear taste. The glass of port we also had was generous and the service good, but the pastry could have been better.

Recommended the Bella Roma for the best Pastel de Nata in Porto, during a winery tour in Pinhão. It didn't disappoint, beautiful flaky pastry, with a deep creamy custard filling 10 out of 10. Simply the best we had on our travels, well worth hunting out.

Really good place. Tasty dessert, they seemed pretty good quality and smiling cashier . What more could I ask for Pastel de nada....🤤

Definitely one of my favorite pastry shops in Porto. They have a vast selection of sweets (desserts, cakes, chocolates, pastries, etc.) and savory options as well (bread, snacks, and even main courses—since it’s also a restaurant). I’ve been there many times and tried a lot of different things. Everything always tastes fresh and delicious. I love the fact that they also have a small version of each pastry (“miniatura”), so you can try more things at the same time. My main highlights are the Glória (puff pastry donut filled with egg custard and topped with caramelized sugar), the chocolate croissant, and the torrada (thick slices of toasted bread served with butter). Service is quick, attentive, and kind, and prices are fair. I totally recommend Nova Real and look forward to visiting again soon! 🧁
Fabio B — Google review
I discovered this place yesterday, tried few pastries and loved everything! Everything seems so fresh and delicious. Their croissants are amazing, one of the best ones I have tried in Porto. It seems busy and you have to wait a little to be served but it’s totally worth it. The Place looks fancy, prices are a little bit above average but not too expensive for pastries and salty snacks. They have very big variety, they even have pastel de tentugal which is not very common in Porto. 10/10, food is delicious, I will definitely come back to try other stuff.
Gamze S — Google review
This place is amazing, it has the best kind of variety in terms of pastry. I love the coffee here and the environment. The staff is very friendly, specially the girl with glasses. Don’t know her name, but she is so quick and that northern friendliness. The only downside is from my personal experience is the table service can be slow some days, I would say it of 10 I had 3 times that happening, I believe there were short staffed and it was rush hour but it would not be something or reason I would cross out the place. Definitely will always come here and truly recommend, just be a bit patient if that happens.

Odete Bakery - artisanal bakery & vegan pastry shop in Bonfim is a must-visit for vegans and dessert lovers in Porto. They offer a delectable range of treats, from flaky French croissants to delightful chocolate tarts, as well as freshly baked bread that's hard to beat. While some patrons found the Pasteis de Nata just fine, others raved about the exquisite tea set and friendly staff.
My happiest place to go to in all of porto. You can really taste the quality and skill that goes into every pastry, and the owner is really kind. It’s the best place to go for a cozy pastry and tea, especially when it’s chilly. Their pastries and savory sandwiches are both fantastic. They’ve really mastered the art of atmosphere, and their soft jazz music perfects the vibe. My one recommendation for change is to allow you to choose the bread you want for your sandwich, since several times they told me they can’t open a new brioche, and I wound up with bread I did not want.

I found this place online for their vegan baked items. I got a pastel de nata which according to my husband tasted like the real one on the inside but with a different shell. I wouldn’t know as I can’t eat dairy but I thought it was delicious! My pastry was a little bit overcooked so I suggest asking to pick the one you would like and don’t pick one that is too dark. I wish I had thought of this before the waiter selected mine. I also got a croissant which had good flavour but the texture was not light and fluffy. The dough was quite heavy and a little dense. The cashier who served me was extremely friendly and we chatted for some time about my dairy allergy so he could recommend some things to me. He was fantastic and extremely nice! The atmosphere was very nice with cute little tables and the glass counter to see the desserts openly. The menus were coffee stained and some of the deco took away from the cute charm. I think the vibe could be changed greatly with a little love for the decoration. Note** They do use a fair amount of soy products. I do generally try to avoid soy when I can but would recommend the pastel de nata regardless. I wouldn’t eat it all of the time due to it being soy (would love if they could do it with oat instead) but would let myself get it as a treat.
Rhilee E — Google review
Good place. Tasty bakery’s. Quite expensive I would say. A small sandwich is 7,5 euros. Other prices are ok.
Martynas N — Google review
I won't fault the employees for my experience, but I am deeply concerned about the management, the management's training practices, and what they consider to be 'good' customer service. I'm also concerned at how is this implemented in practice. I wanted to love Odete, but my experience fell so low below my expectations that zero stars would have been considered generous. In an attempt to expedite my order and leave within 30 minutes for the airport, I paid for my sandwich and the rest of my order. I sat and waited for about 40 minutes while the tables around me received their hot toast and sandwich orders and were given attention. I finally had to walk back to the counter and ask where my sandwich was. After my order was reviewed (to see if I had lied about my sandwich), all I received was an "oh yeah" and what felt like an empty apology. After about 5 more minutes, I received my sandwich and could not enjoy it because I ate it in a rush. It seemed that taking my money was most important; the order wasn't effectively communicated, and I apparently vanished into thin air. I'm simply (and sadly) disappointed.

Tried this vegan bakery on my first day and wasn't able to find a better matcha in town. The plant based milks are home made, and delicious. I had the blueberry matcha and I was obsessed. Also the pastries were so yummy, and the owner is so friendly, she helped me find vegan restaurants in Porto for my stay.

I recently visited My Green Pastry in Porto and was genuinely impressed. The place has a fresh, welcoming vibe — you immediately feel at ease the moment you walk in. The pastry chef explained the ingredients and the process with genuine enthusiasm, which added to the experience. We tried the flan (a standout!), which was beautifully balanced and full of flavour. The coffee was excellent as well, the visit feel thoughtful and inclusive. Everything is vegan, fully from scratch, and uses local fresh produce — so the quality is clear. The staff were super friendly and attentive. We asked quite a few questions and they answered with patience and warmth, which is always a plus. If you’re in Porto and looking for a dessert-place or café that goes beyond the usual, My Green Pastry is definitely worth a stop. I’ll be going back.

Delicious pastries and the owner is so sweet! 💖 (Always dreaming of going there again to eat their croissants)
Yanxi E — Google review
My Green Pastry is one of the places in Porto where I'm the happiest. The incredible tasty and artisanal french pastries are only possible because Marthe is a force on nature that makes everything from scratch. Some cakes take three days to be done, so if you ever go to MGP, please don't ask for pasteis de nata and don't be a Karen about the price, that I'm certain that does not pay the sleepless hours Marthe spends in the kitchen. The atmosphere is another factor I love at MGP. In a city crammed with instagrammable and tacky coffeeshops, this Parisian corner full of *real* plants and romantic furniture really takes back me to the city of love. If you have the chance to meet this gem, don't skip the quiche, the flan, the croissants and the amazing pain au chocolate.

Very cute small backery with many nice glutenfree desserts! She even makes the vegan milk herself! You really see and feel the love the owner puts in her store! The best neighborhood restaurant/Cafe in sight. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous. Great value for money in the middle of Porto! Menu rotates everyday for lunch and there's a great selection of baked goods including birthday cakes!

My amazing local Confeitaria. Fresh, delicious pastries, cakes and daily dishes for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Now seating 25 people inside during Covid, with similar outside space for warmer days with table service. Always popular, always busy, always welcoming. A great local asset.

One of the best pastel de nata that I had in Porto. Prices overall good, maybe a little more than the average price outside the center. All their pastries are SO good, try their brigadeiros and you won't regret it. Edit: after three months of eating their sweets, I can confirm that it is one of the best confeitarias in porto.

This was our fav spot in Porto to eat breakfast and get some Pasteís de Belem, what a wonderful place, the food was absolutely amazing. We used to order sandwich , multi fruits juice and coffe, for 5€, the staff is super nice, I love this Confeitaria and I’ll come back ASAP.

Fantastic pastries here. Everything on the counter looked too good and we almost couldn't decide. Really well baked and delicious. Get anything with doce de ovos in it. The pastel de Tentúgal was brilliant. The lady who served us was really lovely and accommodating.

The top spot around to get bica, chat with locals and eat your croissant (Portuguese, not French, mind you) and have a great time feeling like you are welcome. Every one soûl working here will make you feel like you are valued, take time to serve you perfectly and make sure you are satisfied. The great manager made my children stand on stoop so they could see, even came up with our same drinks on second day. Really, this is the kind of place that makes you feel welcome when you really are a stranger! I wish I could come back soon. Oh, did u mention the code is just perfect and the pastries…. OMG!!!!!

Went here for breakfast two times and one time for the chocolate croissant. Everything tasted soo good! The orange juice was fresh, the bread crispy and warm and the coffee was really good. The chocolate croissant very good too! Really recommend this place! Good prices.

Nice bakery/Cafe with good selection of pastries and dessert at reasonable prices. Staff at this bakery are pleasant most of the time and understand a bit of English. We've visited this bakery and many others in our two months stay in Porto and have found out that in order to get adequate service at the counter for take away items you have to be aggressive. Being polite and patient and waiting for your turn doesn't work here in Porto as the locals/regulars don't want to wait for their turn and push their way through. Not necessarily the fault of the store employees, but they should pay better attention.

Everything is great, in good prices! Huge variety of pastries, sandwiches, sweets. Excellent service, too!

I love how welcoming the staff is. I forgot to ask her name but her energy is shining as she gave me some good recommendation. If you are traveling and want to try some local pastries or bakeries, go to this place! They have loads of options so don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations. The pastel de nata is my fav, as well as the carrot tart if you are not into something that is too sweet 🥕 Orange juice is fresh and sweet, a good choice for the beginning of the day.

We are from Ireland and we were staying near to the bakery in Porto for a week. We loved all the pastries we tried and were treated very kindly by the staff. One man in particular (unfortunately we didn't ask his name!) was really kind to us and made our visits enjoyable. Be sure to stop by for a coffee and pastel de nata as they were delicious especially with a little cinnamon on top ;)

Brites Padaria Artesanal & Pastelaria Artesanal is a popular bakery in Porto known for its delicious and diverse pastries. Customers rave about the tasty products, including Manku Bread, Danish pastries, cream croissants, cinnamon rolls, and "cruffins." While some find the pastries heavy and sweet, many appreciate the fair prices and friendly English-speaking staff. The bakery's open kitchen allows customers to see the baking process firsthand.
the best bakery in Porto. we’ve been there several times. the best place for breakfast or having a coffee with heavenly dessert. yumm
Elsa H — Google review
This bakery and pastry shop has an excellent quality. I ordered a capuccino and a pain au chocolat, both delicious. Unfortunately I can’t give 5 stars because the capuccino was served in a glass (not aesthetically pleasing), instead of the cup, which is really important to preserve the right temperature and to maintain the proper balance of espresso, milk and foam. The cup size and shape are also important for showcasing the drink's layers and allowing the aroma to be appreciated. Thank you.

The coffee was good.. the croissant not really and my seating was the worst. Soooo good! A proper pain a chocolate, a cool place to hang out around and seriously good focaccia! Mind that it’s huge!!! I wish they can sell it in a 1/2 portion. It’s hard to stop eating it, too, because it’s simply delicious but it’s a heart-attack-size-big 😅

Absolutely exceptional. The pastry at Brites is nothing short of outstanding — possibly the best in all of Porto. Everything we tried was incredibly fresh, perfectly baked, and full of rich, authentic flavor. The attention to detail, the texture, the balance of sweetness — it’s clear that real craftsmanship goes into every item. Whether it’s a classic Portuguese pastry or something more unique, every bite feels special. This is not just a bakery, it’s a true gem. If you’re in Porto and appreciate high-quality baked goods, this place is an absolute must. Easily one of the culinary highlights of the city.

Bread&Brunch is a delightful fusion of traditional baking and contemporary brunch vibes, making it the perfect spot for leisurely mornings. With its sleek design and relaxed atmosphere, this artisan bakery invites you to savor some of the finest bread in town, including their renowned cheese bread that’s simply irresistible. The use of filtered water, organic yeast, and natural sea salt elevates every loaf they create.

Delicious quiches - both the spinach and the chicken/mushroom ones, generous with filling and the texture is pleasant. Also, THE BEST CHEESECAKE I’ve had in a long time - creamy and egg-y, but not too little and not too much
Anna A — Google review
The bakery itself is beyond excellent. Some of the best bread in town, and a few food items that might be the very best (for example, the cheese bread). The atmosphere is very peaceful, with adequate decor. Sole exception is the overhead lights at night, that are rather aggressive and migraine-inducing, especially over the central tables. The space could be greatly improved with upwards instead of downwards lighting. The service is... bad. I won't say terrible because the staff is rather lovely. Seriously, they're really nice. But not very competent, or perhaps rather inexperienced. You'll easily wait over half an hour if ordering at the table, which is acceptable at a restaurant, but not at a place that has no complex preparations (at least none that I have ordered over a dozen visits, I'm talking about meals comprising a glass of milk and two pieces of cheese bread for example). The staff looks slightly puzzled over what they must do and how to use their tablets. They constantly double movements and wander around, there's zero economy of movement. I'm starting to wonder if there's someone in charge or if they were trained at all. Worse, they try to be both a cafe and an order-at-the-counter bakery, with different request lines, when they're clearly not prepared for that. If there's a waiter exclusively assigned to each of the services, it's not apparent. This results in people at the tables being served well after several people who entered after them, but who ordered at the counter, and all of it while some staff wanders around doing something else. The clients really don't seem to be the priority. I'm not sure if they're trying to emulate traditional cafes, but if they are, it should be kept in mind that those only work through the incredible efficiency (and often brusque manner) of Porto's traditional waiters. They'd be better served through a model where everybody orders at the counter, like the bakery next door (which has equally inexperienced and slow staff, but whose model compensates for it). I ended up writing a lot because I wanted to leave advice for improvement. For potential future costumers: Tl;dr the food is excellent, but either order at the counter or prepare to wait.

The yogurts are amazing! Their Pao de Queijo are also some of the best I've tasted in Porto. This is a solid choice for a weekend breakfast, if you don't mind waiting a little bit for your food (it's usually full during weekends).

Bakery
This bakery is widely considered to be some of the best in Portugal, and their bread is definitely worth trying. The barbela, seeded, and brioche are all extremely tasty, but the sourdough wheat bread is particularly exceptional. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food on offer, so you'll definitely want to add this bakery to your list of destinations when in Porto.
I think this is the best bread I've ever had in my life. I haven't had sourdough in EVERY country, but certainly a lot of artisan bakeries in a lot of places. Please see if you agree with me. I accidentally ate half a loaf before I realized it. I have eaten the sourdough with olives, plain wheat sourdough, and sourdough with sesame and sunflower seeds. The crust is crispy yet tender, the crumb of the bread is the perfect density with the sourdough lightness and moisture, and the flavor! Excellent all around. I hope that you get to the shop before I do, because I will clear the shelf every time.

Definitely one of the best 'trigo' bread in town. They sell all kinds of sourdough bread but I also occasionally saw different types such as rice bread. My favourite is its Brioche and my partner likes cinnamon rolls. To me a smile always doubles the taste and sometimes they are lack of it. But overall this tiny bakery gives us joy of bread. And as it is a small bakery, you cannot eat in (just in case)

Their banana bread is amazing with whole walnuts. Great with coffee. Focaccia with ham and brie was divine. Salmon and cream cheese toast was also very tasty. They have a bakery section with great selection of breads. Also have granola, milkshakes and hot and cold drinks. Simple and tasty.

Manteigaria – Fábrica de Pastéis de Nata, a renowned custard tart shop from Lisbon, has expanded to Porto. The Porto branch offers a captivating view of chefs crafting buttery pastry into crispy wheels filled with cinnamon-spiced custard in a kitchen with glass walls. Visitors can savor their tarts at the minimalistic canteen with a glass of port or enjoy an espresso at the counter.
I tried these pastries and the coffee today and I loved them. This is a perfect spot to try a Portuguese pastry and enjoy a coffee. The espresso was delicious. It was so fun watching them make the Pastel de Nata. They make these fresh so when you’re eating them they literally have just come out of the ovens. I highly recommend this place if you are visiting Porto!
Andrew C — Google review
I’m a big fan of pastel de nata and came here knowing it’s considered one of the best in Porto. It’s definitely good, crispy and fresh, but a bit TOO sweet for my taste. If they toned down the sugar just a little, it would be perfect! 👌🏻 The price is great too, almost like supermarket prices. Compared to other popular spots, it’s much more affordable. Definitely worth trying! 👌🏻
Bie — Google review
The pastry is very very crispy. The filling has mild cinnamon flavour, quite surprised. The outer is a bit burnt, which I can taste it and i quite like. However, it’s just warm when I get it. I would prefer a hotter or warmer one. €1.4 per one. Not expensive as it is so famous.
Wing L — Google review
Crispy, flaky pastry with a perfectly creamy custard filling — fresh out of the oven and still warm, which made all the difference. Just the right balance of sweetness and texture. Definitely lives up to the hype. If you're in the area, this is absolutely worth a stop for a quick and satisfying treat.
Mohamad G — Google review
ChatGPT recommendations strike gold again! We randomly sampled a few natas near the ribiera area of Porto after getting here as our starting point for the portugal trip and we were not really sure about how we felt about Pastel de Nata and the hype around it. So I asked ChatGPT about the best spots in town where I could grab one and this place was the top recommendation. And, OMG, was out perception of Pastel de nata set straight right after the first bite we took of these beauties. They are made very fresh apparently and you can see that visually as the bakers are prepping these which can be seen through the windows of the place. This was the crispiest Pastel de Nata we had in our stay in Portugal on the outside and not the thickest in terms of custard consistency on the inside but I personally thought their custard density was perfect! A tad bit on the sweeter side as far as sweetness goes but for Indian taste buds used to jalebis and gulaab jamun I don't think any Indian tourist would complain on that front. The freshness of the nata was very evident in every bite I recommend trying it both with the cinnamon sprinking on and without. Both have their own charm. The price point was very very reasonable for such excellent quality. A few days later we were in Lisbon, and we tried the famous pasteis de belem next to the Jeronimos monestary , this was the birthplace of pastel de nata and where every google, tripadvisor, instagram and other reviewer told us we would find the best pastel de nata on the planet. Well, I can't complain about the nata I found there, but the crown of "best" , based on my limited experience, goes firmly to Manteigaria in Porto. QED. Enough said. :)
Tushar P — Google review
i went there thrice this weekend and the guy in the take out section was always (a bit) grumpy. Too bad he is cute 😋. anyway, no doubt one of the best pasteis de nata or probably the best. i love their crunchy crust which compliment the creamy filling. Tried manteigaria in Lisbonne and Paris but what made it différent this time is that they had ginja shots! My friend love that part of the expérience and the pasteis de nata or course

Traveling to Porto for the first time (and to Portugal in general), I decided to try this famous local dessert. I have to say, I fell in love with this sweet, delicious treat. I’d give a Nobel Prize to the person who invented it!🫢🤣 But be aware: it is like a drug — once you try it, you can’t stop eating it all day long. The cozy outdoor seating area with comfortable couches and delectable coffee make it a great spot to relax. Their phenomenal smoothies are not only delicious but also nutritious. We tried the other hungry bikers place, we don't want to miss this one. They have similar choices of food and drinks but this one is more special with a backyard garden and more space. visited this brunch place twice while I stayed in Porto and I have no regrets about it! the salty pancakes were unlike any other breakfast food i’ve had and filled with spinach making it nutritious!! since i visited twice, the second time i tried the salmon salty waffles. both dishes were my all time favorite breakfast meals I’ve had in my lifetime. i visited their sister restaurant, Floresta cafe, and since i brought this up they gave me a complimentary smoothie when i went back to this place! they are extremely kind and welcoming to tourists such as myself! other than the free smoothie, i got the ginger latte iced , and a peach matcha the second time which was a seasonal drink i believe. would recommend to anyone visiting porto.

A delicious brunch spot. The atmosphere is fun yet cozy. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, we felt taken care of. And the food - wow! So, so, so delicious. We enjoyed the mango smoothie, strawberry banana smoothie, the Do Norte French toast, and the breakfast burger with roast potatoes. The crispy choriço on the burger - yum! The fruit on the French toast was so fresh and flavourful and the orange port sauce/syrup was great. 10/10.

Wow. I think that the menu over explained things such that we were truly wondering about what to order. My suggestion is to just say - best breakfast bun a biker could hope for”, and “tell us if you have allergies”. As the texture was like a soft cloud, and the favour was a storm of beauty. Their “Good Local Wine” was great for 5€. Good pour. Worth trying to find this place. We went at 3pm on a Sunday. Seating was available.

First of all, the staff was very attentive, friendly, and polite. We explained we were in a hurry, and the service was very prompt. Both the French toast and the salmon royal toast were delicious. Prices were average: 8.95 for the French toast and 12.95 for the royal toast. The portions were quite filling. There's a line of people out the door, but you don't have to wait long; they're immediately attentive and let you in. I'll definitely be returning.

We visited Do Norte Café in Porto for breakfast and overall had a lovely experience. The café is cozy and welcoming, tucked away on Rua do Almada. The décor is relaxed and warm, with a pleasant mix of indoor seating and some natural light. What we liked: The portions are generous — we left satisfied. Food was fresh and flavorful (smoothies, toasts, eggs, etc.). The staff were friendly and attentive, and service was fairly prompt even when the café was busy. It’s pet-friendly, which is a nice touch if you’re traveling with a dog. Things to be aware of: It can get crowded, especially in the morning, so you might have to wait a short while for a table. Some menu items are on the pricier side for Porto, though the quality helps justify it.

The place boasts a beautiful view of the Douro river and an interior resembling a garden, adorned with greenery and neon-lighted quotes on the walls.
Camélia’s was great! My husband and I went for brunch and the drinks and food were awesome. I got the chicken toast and my husband got fried eggs and bacon. I would definitely recommend coming here!

Stopped by spontaneously and were greeted by genuinely friendly, polite staff. We went with a few of their most popular brunch dishes – and every single one delivered. Presentation is simple and unpretentious, but the flavors speak for themselves. The standout? The French toast – absolutely next level. Sweet, rich, and perfectly balanced – a must-try if you visit. Added bonus: sitting outside offers a charming view of Tram 1 and 18 passing by – a peaceful, almost cinematic touch to the experience. Definitely recommend for a casual yet memorable brunch in Porto.

Seriously Amazing food. I went here 3 different days on our 5 day trip. The food was priced low but the flavor was top notch. Get the “Egg and Limiano Cheese Sandwich” it’s absolutely delicious! Also the Scotch Egg, both were an orgasmic experience of flavor! Overall their food is amazing and the prices are perfect, this was my favorite restaurant in Porto.

Stopped by on our way from the center to the coast. Good properly made food but nothing blasting you out of orbit. Wanted to order mojito with strawberries and was informed there are no strawberries while another lady brought pancakes with strawberries … so couple mistakes here and there Nothing really severely wrong here but also nothing extraordinary which in my opinion would deserve a solid 4 or 5 like in other reviews. Sitting outside is very noisy with cars trucks and tram going just by the terrace. Sitting inside you have to listen to the radio classic hits … I think there could be more of a chill jazz or reggae ambient music instead. Overall decent refueling pit stop.

This is likely among the best food and coffee we had in Porto after visiting Porto for the more than five times. The place is absolutely extraordinary in terms of the presentation and taste of the food and their coffee. Also, the excellent matcha latte is prepared freshly without any sugar. My personal favourite were the Ovos Verdes de Alheira: 3 boiled and battered eggs filled with a sausage on a mustard mayonnaise. We often choose a restaurant from the Michelin guide and this place inspired us on a similar level in a more relaxed atmosphere and more affordable prices. Fully recommend visiting Camelia Brunch Garden.

Tasty and quick. The place is busy, and the cappuccino is delicious. The chicken in the salad was juicy. I recommend visiting — a nice spot overall.

Great place for brunch or light snack. Quite during the week but it can get busy at the weekends so I would say be ready to wait. The food is good and not very expensive.

We enjoyed our lunch at this restaurant. Please excuse the photos as we had already started before taking them! The chicken bowl with cashews, mashed sweet potatoes, beets and greens was absolutely delicious. The Nutella pancakes with strawberries and bananas was also very good. The hot chocolate was rich and very good, thick like an Italian hot chocolate without being over thick like pudding that some places serve. The staff were helpful and friendly and we found the prices fare for what we received. We highly recommend this restaurant!

O Diplomata, located in downtown Porto, is a popular brunch spot known for its wide variety of pancakes and other breakfast options. The menu offers endless combinations of pancakes with different toppings, fruits, and ice cream. In addition to pancakes, the restaurant also serves brunch menus until 4 pm daily, featuring items like bacon & eggs and acai bowls.
We visited Porto this week and went for brunch twice at O Diplomata—a place recommended to us by ChatGPT. It was absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and despite being super busy, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The pancakes were amazing, and we loved the wide variety of toppings, ice cream, and extras they offered. We were so happy to return a second time, and when we told the staff that the recommendation came from ChatGPT, they were delighted and genuinely touched. A wonderful place we’ll definitely come back to!

Food was pretty good although the matcha special was a bit on the bitter side (I think because of the lime cream) but my friends loved theirs. Nice little breakfast/brunch spot with a variety of options and customisable pancakes! I would definitely stick to the pancakes rather than the savoury things if I were to come back.
Senan K — Google review
Pancakes were fresh but we should not have opted for the hot chocolate sauce, it felt too heavy (and cheap). Portuguese biscuit was a nice touch. They could have put more fruit pieces - there were way too few pieces for that price. Savoury pancakes were nice, but the oregano was not mentioned in the ingredients list and to be honest it was completely unnecessary. They also forgot we ordered them with maple syrup and when we asked they gave us a small pot. The smoothie bowl was nice, but way too runny. Their special coffees are more like desserts. Loose leaf tea is available, but the diffuser left a metallic taste. Friendly staff, but being a cash only place makes it hard for tourists nowadays. Was expecting a better overall experience to be honest.

This is a must visit brunch or breakfast spot on your trip. The pancakes were so incredible and I would have gone every morning I was in Portugal. Get the hot chocolate as it was so cute and delicious. I got the chocolate pancakes with the coffee cream topping and it was light as well as perfectly chocolate-y. The banana/ biscoff pancakes were rich and and are recommended to share with a side dish. The service was friendly as well and made the experience so much better

Dined here in October of 2022 (just getting around to posting a review now) - Such a good meal! The Nutella cappuccino was delicious and both the meals we ordered came with generous portion sizes for the price. Also the waitstaff was fantastic and helped us navigate the menu (it was easy to navigate, we just had questions :)) overall a 10/10 experience!

Amazing food 😍I love the idea to be able to choose everything - from the dough to the toppings. I really loved the food and the place until I went to the toilet and it was extremely dirty and the doors for the girls bathroom is broken so you can’t even close it. So then I started wondering how is it in the kitchen but I preferred to not think too much about it and focus on the food that really taste good, I would have gave 5 stars if the whole place/experience was amazing ! Ps: we went around 3pm so we didn’t queue at whole :) and the person who served us was really nice 👌
Caroline M — Google review
Good breakfast/brunch spot with large portions. The mimosas were really nice, the iced latte didn’t taste much coffee and it wasn’t that cold (it could have had more ice). The sandwich was good, but the chips that came with it wasn’t that good, but they seem pretty common as a side thing here in Porto.
Lidia — Google review
The food was excellent! I ordered more than I could eat. Particularly loved the orange juice, the dragon fruit sauce for my pancakes and that breakfast sandwich my friend ordered. The music was acustic versions of some of my favorite music

Miss Pavlova is a charming spot in Porto, offering a delightful dining experience. The highlight is the all-day Mr Brunch, which can be ordered at any time and features an extensive a la carte menu with a wide variety of egg dishes. Guests can also indulge in the signature pavlovas, colorful macarons, and other delectable pastries. The vibrant ambiance includes a Pink Bar serving creative cocktails and a Sala Arte hosting cultural events.
Perfect Spot for Breakfast - Miss Pavlova Pavlova is a true gem by the port and the perfect place to start your day. The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and beautiful view of the water make it a standout choice for breakfast. Their signature pavlova dessert is a must-try, but the real highlight for me was the fresh, high-quality coffee—it was the perfect morning pick-me-up. The café has a relaxed vibe that makes you want to linger and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. If you’re looking for a charming spot to enjoy a delicious breakfast with a view, Pavlova Café is an excellent choice. Highly recommended!

I was looking for a quick brunch spot and happened to stumble upon this charming little place. From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by how unique and cozy it felt. It had a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing brunch. Since I was craving something sweet, I decided to try some of their treats. The macarons were perfectly made – delicate and chewy with a burst of flavor in each bite. But the cakes were the real stars of the show. They were absolutely delicious, rich and decadent without being overly sweet. Each slice was a perfect balance of flavors and textures, clearly made with high-quality ingredients and a passion for baking. Of course, no brunch is complete without a good cup of coffee, and theirs was excellent. It was rich and aromatic, the perfect pick-me-up to complement the sweet treats. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a delightful brunch, especially if you have a sweet tooth. The unique and cozy atmosphere, combined with the delicious macarons, cakes, and coffee, makes it the perfect spot to satisfy your cravings and enjoy a relaxing meal. I'll definitely be back!

We had lunch here but it was a bit disappointing. The place is pretty and modern but not well maintained. The tables were sticky and the chairs were dirty. Also I ordered some tea and the cup had tea stains in it… I had the Turkish eggs and my husband the savoury croissant with Parmesan. It was not so bad but nothing special. The quantity were quite small too for the price. However, the pavlovas were very good and generous. I think they’re better at desserts than savoury food. Service was quick and good although the waitress was a bit absent minded. She forgot a lot of things. It isn’t a big deal as she was really nice.

This is a great spot for a mid afternoon break. My husband and I were anxious to try their pavlova. The place is beautifully decorated and the staff is very welcoming. Unfortunately, there was not a single item in the menu that is vegan, except for the avocado toast. Due to the time we arrived, the kitchen was closed (5pm). Therefore, I did not eat anything and my score is zero. However, my husband ate a slide of pavlova and he loved it. If you have a sweet tooth and you have no restriction with dairy, eggs and refined sugar, this place is for you.

Cute little pastry shop in Ribeira! The pavlova (with passion fruit) was really good. We also had the croissant with scrambled eggs and the sour dough bread (which was unfortunately a bit tough) with avocado and tomatoes - both could have used a little garnish but the taste was good. The staff was very friendly :)

Went for breakfast and we were able to find a table right away. Mind you, we were a little early. It started to fill up and tables were limited. They had tables downstairs but no one went down there. It wasn’t the most comfortable of seating and the atmosphere was ok. A little bright for my liking. The food was good though and our server was really nice. We would go here again.

So glad I saw the cute pink signage for Miss Pavlova. The staff is nice, the little shop stays busy. The beautiful Pavlovas on display are eye catching. The ham & cheese sandwich was really good. Quality bread, quality cheese melted and ooey gooey and the ham was fresh and flavorful. I also enjoyed a glass of their rose'. One of my favorite finds while in Porto. I'd happily return. I can't forget the brownie Pavlova was devine.

A lot of good stuff here. My personal preferences: chocolate mousse or pão de ló. During weekends the place attracts a lot of people for a quick (and quality) breakfast. Good amount of staff to handle customers and a fast and friendly service. Just stay away from their orange juice, as the oranges used are somewhat bitter.

Love the menu and the broad selection of healthy food! Also love the coffee menu, we had an amazing charcoal latte and Chemex. However service is slow so this is a place to chill and wait for your coffee unless you put down your order ASAP! Not crowded so good for groups and they also have a second floor.

Nice atmosphere with a young friendly staff. The musical selection contrasts well with the “posh” interior design. Great place to cool down after Porto’s tiring hills.

Not only is the coffee great, they feature it in odd ways on the menu (coffee butter, coffee lemonade, etc.) which are both innovative and surprisingly good. Everything is housemade. Our server, Ana, was the best server I've had in years. She answers any amount of questions about the menu warmly and patiently. If I had a restaurant, I'd clone her. We ended up here because the line at Zenith was ridiculously long, and we were very happy with the discovery.

The past reviews are completely accurate. This place was just fantastic. Fantastic service, kid friendly, awesome breakfast and even better coffee. We had the charcoal latte which was interesting. I would do that with a double shot of espresso next time though. We also had the creme brulee latte which was so amazing. The coffee butter and their jams are unique and so good. Kids had pancakes with Nutella. Highly recommended. Would definitely go back.

Stopped in for breakfast just after 9 on a Wednesday. I wish cafes like this (and the culture of it) were more common in NYC, but New Yorkers are always just Go, Go, Go! My family and I had a nice leisurely breakfast and the prices were inexpensive. I like that all of the pastries/sandwiches are in the display case because then you can truly see what you want to eat. I had some sort of ham and cheese panini. They use some kind of egg bread, which I didn’t love because it has a sweetness to it, but it wasn’t bad overall. They give you a card to order at the counter and they will heat up the food and bring it to your table. For drinks, you order at the table, and you use your card as well. At the end, you bring this card to the register, which has tallied up everything you ordered. Pretty efficient!

Great spot for a quick snack that catered for both vegan and non vegan. The Bacon sandwich was delicious amd so was the vegan mushroom. Vegan pastries, including the famous pasteis de nata, croissants, pies, hot dogs and more! This is not an all vegan place but during our 7 days stay in Porto we went to Tupi 3 or 4 times for breakfast or lunch. The service is very quick although the coffee shop was mostly full every time we went there. A lot of non-vegan options of course that I did not try but by the look and taste of the vegan ones, they cannot be bad :)

Oficina dos Rissóis is a cozy eatery known for its deep-fried patties filled with a variety of ingredients, including meat, seafood, and veggies. Customers can also enjoy draft beer with their meal. The establishment offers quick service, making it an ideal spot for lunch or dinner. Visitors have praised the flavorful fillings such as ham and cheese, chicken, red curry chicken, slow-cooked veal, shiitake and shrimp.
I visited Oficina dos Rissóis in Porto and had rissóis for the very first time. I didn't know what to expect, but I chose the veal option—and it was surprisingly delicious! Perfectly crispy on the outside and full of flavor. I also tried the mini pizzas, which were absolutely tasty and just the right portion. To finish, we had the chocolate mousse with hazelnut crumble, which was simply delightful—rich, smooth, and with a perfect crunch. Great place, cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Porto. Highly recommended!

I had dinner here and both waiters who helped me out were very friendly and helpful. The rissois are perfect - flavourful and perfectly crispy on the outside without being oily. I also tried the tomato rice, which was unlike anything I’d had before. It tasted fresh and well seasoned and cooked. It was a bit oily for my taste but somehow not in a bad greasy way. I highly recommend this place for its food, atmosphere and people!

We had the cesar salad and veal and caprese rissois. Everything was delicious. The cesar salad dressing was so good and definitely generous with the cheese. The rissois were perfectly cooked without feeling oily. Meat was tender. Prices were reasonable so great value for money all in all. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We would happily eat here again.

I heard this place is one of the best places in the city to try Rissois, and this place did not disappoint. This is a small place with limited seating options and this place is always full. The ambience of the place is very modern with its bar counter just out in the front. The server here was very helpful and suggested the food that I can try based on my taste. I ordered red curry and shrimp Rissois and both were delicious and stuffed with cheese. I also had fruit juice of the day which was fresh. The pricing was also relatively modest and overall the experience was great.

This patisserie is known for its wide variety of French pastries, including the Kouign-ammann and chocolate fondant. It is also popular for its sunsets, which are considered to be some of the most beautiful in Portugal.
Stopped off here for lunch and ordered the smoked salmon and cucumber baguette which was excellent. The baguettes are made fresh in their bakery and quite popular with the locals. They also serve various pastries and macarons.

A little slice of French mood with an ocean view “Mademoiselle” is an absolute gem. Everything here is genuinely delicious, and it’s one of the very few places in Porto where you can find real French croissants—both the classic ones and the almond-filled kind. Flaky, buttery, and perfectly baked—just as they should be. They offer both sweet and savoury options, so whether you’re in the mood for a light breakfast or a more filling bite, there’s something for every taste. The staff are lovely—warm, helpful, and always welcoming. The space itself is cosy and bright, with large windows that fill the room with natural light, making it a perfect spot to relax with a pastry and coffee. Highly recommended if you’re craving authentic French flavours in a calm and charming setting. I’ll definitely be back!

I believe the Portuguese croissants must have an acquired taste, they are more like sweet bread rolls. I was very happy to find this place after being disappointed in traditional Portuguese croissants. This place is amazing. I was told they get all their ingredients from France and everything is traditional French bread and pastries. Nothing beats French pastries! It is my favorite place in Porto!

One of the best almond croissants I’ve ever tasted. It was a great choice to visit this patisserie situated just off the boardwalk, which is the only French patisserie in the Porto Area. I came here for the croissant - and they are indeed delicious. Typical French and not to be compared to the traditional Portuguese croissants. The plain croissant was great but the almond croissant filled with a light marzipan cream was divine! Not too sweet and not too heavy. They have great variety of home made jams, such strawberry or apricot. They serve Italian Illy coffee and as a milk alternative they have soy milk. A had a nice conversation with both the owners Janik and Carol (both French) and they love making customers happy with their traditional pastries. croissant without eggs or gluten are and will not be on the menu any time soon.
Daniela D — Google review
The place is cozy and comfortable. I was trying to find a french desserts shop, so it was nice that in the end we found this place. All the desserts we tried are really delicious and beautiful. And the price was really fair for the amount and quality. It is a bit said that they only open from Thursday to Sunday, otherwise I would visit more times when I am in Porto. One cake is around 2.9 euro and one coffe is around 2 euro.
Evan M — Google review
The almond croissants are very good. Coffee leaves much to be desired, and the price almost 3 euros for a cappuccino that doesn’t taste well is a little bit exaggerated

Beautiful cafe with fantastic french food, especially the macarons are perfect. The only downside for me is that service in english is not the most fluent, but with portuguese or french it is perfect. Good coffee as well!

Such a great café! Love the vibe in there. It is so cozy and has tasty snacks! And well priced right next to the metro

Amazing spot in the Boavista area. Great for brunch or even a light lunch. It is going to start serving pizzas soon, and we heard it was going to become a board game café. We have been organizing there lot´s of board games events and we are happy to be part of its story!

Horrible experience! Waited +40 minutes for a croissant and a coffee that I needed to ask three times for it. When it served first the croissant was totally dry, I ordered at 10:30 am so it has ti be form the day before. I mentioned to the waitress but she did not care, she just took it out from the table and did not offer any kind of solution, not even asked if I wanted to eat anything else or offer the menu again. After 15 minutes I had to remember again for my coffee, when it came expectations were right and it was tottally a lost of time and money, it wasn't any good. I ordered a coffee with oat milk, and clearly that was not even drinkable. Hope they train their staff and take mkre care on how procedures should be arranged on taking orders, writing them on their system, customer service, etc.

Great place to have a lite breakfast/brunch that appeals to all your morning senses 😀! Price to quality ratio is perfect, had 2 coffees, 1 buttered toast, and the Serrano ham sandwich (with fig jam..sandwich was to die for!!!)for around €8. Inviting environment with the service to match!
Clent J — Google review
The place looks cool, is well located, and had full potential for delivering a great experience. That was the size of the disappointment, however. Food was not made with any care for taste, dry and unseasoned. The coffee was ok but you could expect more given the setup. The service was not exactly welcoming and, even though the place was empty, it took an unreasonable amount of time to serve a simple coffee and a (very dry) toast with scrambled eggs. In essence, the customer experience is not worth the price they charge.
Raul M — Google review
Great breakfast! Took my whole family while visiting Porto for breakfast and everyone enjoyed theirs. Freshly products and bakery, great coffee and juices. The service is super friendly and fast. The concept from layout to decoration is really cool and it has outdoor area on the back
Pedro M — Google review
Good for a cheap lunch. Prepare to wait for service and your order might not be correct when it comes. Nice area to sit outside. Only one toilet was working at the time, so might be awkward queues.
Paul M — Google review
Service is really good and fast! Stuff very attentive & polite. There is a plenty of spaces , so you can consider working from here… there is a music in case you have conference call. Good for breakfast it’s ok, I had it better, or maybe I was not luck with a quality that day. Cappuccino is quiet big :) and you can see on the photos below.. I asked my lanche mista to be tosted, but honestly I prefer normal - this can be a case with any other place . Both croissant & lanche are with yellow/sweet bread /taste.

The cafe Negra Café Boavista is a great place to enjoy a good meal and relax in an atmospheric setting. It has seating areas for both adults and children, as well as areas where you can work on your laptop or read a book. The food is excellent and the service impeccable. I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone visiting Porto.
What a vibe this place has! It's a corner cafe with a lot of light, the decor is gorgeous, and food is delicious! The lady that served us helped with the menu and explained that the pancakes are big enough to share. So we ordered savoury first to share and then pancakes. Yes! Yes! 👍🏼 So good!

Beautiful place with amazing people. It was a 10/10 experience from every aspect. The respect for the black culture and diversity was also a huge bonus. Would love to come back next time I am in Porto.
Nihat D — Google review
Walked into Negra Café Boavista thinking we'd just grab a cute brunch. Instead, we had a spiritual experience. I ordered the eggs Florentine and a detox smoothie—because balance, obviously. The eggs were so perfectly poached I considered introducing them to my parents. The smoothie? Green, glowing, and suspiciously delicious. Honestly, if health always tasted like this, I’d be a better person. He had orange juice, but somehow it tasted like it was hand-squeezed by a joyful sunbeam on a mountaintop. We locked eyes mid-bite and said nothing… because we were both too emotionally overwhelmed by spinach and citrus. The vibe? Laid-back cool. The food? Illegal levels of good. The aftermath? Full belly, happy heart, mild addiction. Would brunch here again even if I had to climb a hill and fight a seagull to get in.
Erik S — Google review
The best pancakes I’ve ever had! I got the banana and oat pancakes recipe, with plain yogurt, a variety of fresh fruits with honey and cinnamon. Simple, Delicious and not too sweet or heavy! Also tried the eggs with sweet potato which is fantastic. Went here multiple times while in Porto. Nice staff and really nice vibes!

Confeitaria da Lapa is an exceptional local cafe in town, known for its delicious baked goods and friendly staff. This non-touristy gem offers a variety of menus with options like fresh orange juice, bread, and cake. The cappuccino here is absolutely delightful. Notably, their Pao Lapa (bread rolls) are a must-try; they have won a prestigious national competition and are renowned for being chewy and flavorful.
Excellent pastele, good local atmosphere. Recommended if you want to feel authentic Porto.

One of my favorite breads in Porto? Confeitaria da Lapa sesame roll—hands down. It’s the kind of bread that doesn’t try too hard but still ends up being the star. While Porto has no shortage of incredible bakeries, some places are worth visiting just for one specific thing—and for me, it’s this. Everything else here is lovely too (the pastries, the vibe, the bread), but that sesame roll? That’s the reason I keep coming back.

The bakery Molete Bread & Breakfast Saint Lazarus is a great place to get breakfast in Porto. The food is delicious and there are a variety of choices. The cafe is clean and tidy and the staff are very kind. The price is low, which makes it an affordable option.
We stopped here one morning for pastries, sandwiches, drinks, and espresso, and everything was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the person we interacted with spoke exceptional English, making the experience even better. They were also very attentive and informative about allergies, which we appreciated. There was both indoor and outdoor seating, and it seemed to be a popular spot, with many locals stopping by while we were there. A great place for a quick and tasty bite.
David P — Google review
We visited Molete Bread and Breakfast and had a really nice experience. The 6 euro breakfast combo was a great deal. It came with freshly squeezed orange juice, regular coffee, a warm croissant sandwich with ham and Swiss cheese, and a small bun with butter inside. Everything was fresh and satisfying, and the portions were just right to start the day. We also tried one of their pastries, which was light, not too sweet, and clearly homemade. It paired perfectly with the coffee. The place has a relaxed local feel and the staff were friendly. It's an easygoing spot that offers good food at a fair price. If you're nearby in the morning, it's worth stopping in for a comfortable and tasty breakfast.

My son searched this out online, and what a find it was! A fifteen minute walk from where we were staying but was well worth it. A very popular establishment with tourists and locals alike the server's English was excellent so no problem with the order. Great value, the best orange juice I have tasted 😋 great looking, tempting pastries and cakes but I always went for the pastel de nata, the best !!! We ate breakfast there for three consecutive days, highly recommend it !

Lovely cafe adjacent to the Jardim Marques de Olivier’s park, great prices, kind and prompt service. Espresso was good, freshly-squeezed orange juice was a treat and the Pasteis de Nata were crisp and delicious. Indoor seating and lots of outdoor seating.

Nata Sweet Nata is a popular spot in Porto for its delicious pasteis. Visitors rave about the perfect balance of sweetness and freshness in their pasteis, which are not overwhelmingly sweet and have a slightly thicker dough compared to others. The friendly staff and fantastic river views add to the overall experience. Some find these pasteis to be the best they've ever had, with an irresistible flakiness and just the right amount of cinnamon dusting.
Delicious pasteis de nata in the cutest setting, with arched stone ceiling and tables out on the sidewalk. Great coffee and fresh orange juice. And everyone is so friendly!
Diane C — Google review
The riverside café offers a delightful experience with its Portuguese egg tarts, or "pastéis de nata." Each tart features a flaky crust and a creamy, caramelized filling that melts in your mouth. Enjoying these treats while overlooking the beautiful Douro River adds to the charm. The serene atmosphere is perfect for relaxation, and the friendly staff enhances the overall experience. This café is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Portuguese flavors paired with stunning scenic views.
Michelle — Google review
I was afraid this might be a tourist trap (it’s the only pastel de nata spot on the waterfront), but it was fantastic and reasonably priced! Their pastel de nata was the best that I tried in Porto 🇵🇹
Nicholas A — Google review
Holy cow, the lady working tonight during sunset had an ATTITUDE! We came to try different pastel de nata from different pastries. So I came and saw they were selling it and I asked for 2, and she gave the most unappetizing ones. It didn’t even look like it was baked properly. It tasted bad and the egg flavor was so weird. The crust was so chewy. Just please look at the photos.
Eugene S — Google review
Stopped by on Friday evening on my last night in Porto (travelled alone on business) and had a lovely time! The traditional Nata cakes are amazing and a glass of 10 year Tawny port made it even better. The views are also Spectacular as right under the bridge! Would definitely return :)
Sasha B — Google review
We had a bite to eat here and it was delicious. It isn't super expensive if you get a menu and it is filling. The pastel nata are served slightly warm and you can add cinnamon. It was so good!
Bente M — Google review
Love this place. Came here several times during my stay in Porto.offers quick service at an affordable price plus many options. The Pastele de Natas were among my favorite here in Porto. You have to use the Bathroom to understand how European places maximize there space.😎. I highly recommend a stop in this place to just unwind a little and relax and watch people while enjoying some great food.

I was looking for a place near the Douro river to work remotely for a-couple hours with a view and came across Nata sweet nata. I asked if it would be okay if I did some work here and the gentleman in the front was so sweet and welcoming! He shared they also had wifi to use, which was great! The pastel de nata was perfect with my coffee. It was just the perfect amount of sweetness! If you’re walking along the river and want a sweet treat, definitely stop here to grab some pastel de nata.

While waiting for our tour, we stopped in for a quick snack and drink. I am not sure of the name of the pastry we had, but I will say that it was absolutely amazing. In my opinion, it was better than the Pastel de Nata. I went back for seconds and know that we will stop there again before flying home. Definitely give it a try. (The one we had was a small tart with powdered sugar on top and filled with some sort of fruit.)

The savory bread rolls with meat/cheese or veggies are particularly delicious, and the francesinha is highly recommended.
Looking for a place to eat and drink something like real Portuguese? Search no more - just go there. The coffee is great, the food is fresh and tasty, and the atmosphere - simply wonderful.
