Had a very warm welcome when we arrived. We booked a standard double Room which included breakfast.. Room was very clean, we didnt hear anything or see anybody on our floor(5th) Room was quite dark but that was its style. Bed was comfy and had no issues with the bathroom, we soon worked out how to flush the toilet!! All the staff we spoke too were freindly Breakfast had a lovely choice, nice to have hot food cooked to order and not sitting under a hot lamp with hordes of people getting in the way. Location was really good, short walk to museums and liverpool one. A bit further to Liverpool Lime Street, but the receptionist kindly offered to book us a taxi which turned up on time for our return journey. One tip get some taxi numbers from Reception. Try and avoid getting in a Black Cab we think we were ripped off big time. Thoroughly recommend this hotel. Much better than the experience we had at a well known chain of hotels where we stayed 2 years ago. Would not hesitate to stay at Malmaison again. Also fantastic hotel to stay if going on a cruise ,right oppisite cruise terminal.

Cristina and the team were on top of everything and made things so easy for us to organise, all communication was really quick and everything was just so easy. We were there for one night just because we wanted to experience the spa. The spa is okay, including a sauna, steam sauna, ice room rasul, a quiet room and launge room if you want ti have a brew. What we didn't like is the level of noise as the windows are very old and you can hear the noise from the cars. We have struggled to close a window and we were surpised to see that on the hallway near the elevator a window was open as it didn't have a handle. The room was clean but you can easily notice that the hotel needs a serious upgrade as everything looks old. The location is a little bit isolated so you cannot do much. The rooms and reception were lovely. Reception staff very friendly. We did have some issues -the hair dryer didn't work [we reported] - we booked a twin room but we're given a double and had to move rooms 3 times, meaning I went back and forth around 4 times and we didn't get to check in whilst 3.30pm when we got there at 3. - I would say I think it was just bad luck though, the staff were shocked at the error and were incredibly kind and resolved the issues quickly. But what let it down was the food area. We were sitting for nearly 20 minutes without service, and then when it finally came the food was extremely bland and my stew was actually not heated correctly leading to issues the next day. If I were to go again, I would not recommend the food place. It brings the whole hotel down from 5* to 3/4* which is significant. The hotel staff were lovely though. But the bar and restaurant staff 100% need either more workers or more training. One was very unfriendly and told us to "seat yourself". Me and my mum had come here as I'm unwell and she doesn't get to see me often so the special moment of having a meal with my mum was kinda sullied by the dinner and evening. Staff are kind and friendly. Breakfast was decent and enough choice for fry- up and continental. Good range of plant-based milk and some vegetarian options available which was a plus. I’ll start with the positives the hotel room was nice, decent parking, breakfast was fine. Upon arrival they had no booking for us to use the spa which the staff member made known that they squeezed us in but no availability for any treatments. The spa experience was basically steam room, sauna and a pool everything else advertised closed. Changing rooms high potent urine smell and filthy. Foot spa out of order and looked like it hadn’t been used in years, jacuzzi was closed for cleaning and according to a family who had been there a couple of days advised it had been shut for 4 days. Coffee machine they promote in the relaxation room the hot chocolate was out of use and the mocha and the cups looked like they had never been washed. The ice room had no ice insight and was practically a room with air con on. Me and my partner had travelled an hour to get here and we could have got a better spa day at our local gym who provides the exact same amenities. Very poor experience and wouldn’t recommend it.

Both mornings the breakfast staff were so helpful and polite, Helen was especially excellent with my little one everytime he said hello, smiled or spoke to her she took time to respond to him with a caring, patient attitude. The hotel is incredible, modern, spotlessly clean and comfortable, my room on the 15th floor was huge and had the most amazing view of the city. The drawback I suppose is that rooms are very noisy- stayed over weekend and loud music from club/bar venue below until 2am. We have stayed in a number of hotels over the years, but never in a room this size. We were on the third floor and had open beams and some of the biggest lights I have ever seen! The beds are top quality pocket spring deep mattresses. The spar in bathroom was fun. The rooms are quiet great installation in the walls as we didn't hear our neighbours which was great. Bar service & choice great. Breakfast was well presented & had everything we wanted. Definitely stay here again. Many thanks to a well ran hotel.

Reception and bar area is poorly lit. Initially we were given a huge room with 3 double beds but on complaining we were moved to a smaller room much more suited to a couple. Air conditioning did not work nor did the bathroom extractor so we notified reception but unfortunately this was not fixed during our 3 night stay. There was a lovely jacuzzi bath but when we tried to use this black limescale deposits were ejected from the nozzles. Clearly the bath had not been serviced. Only positive was the very good breakfast and location of the hotel. Unfortunately this hotel is not worthy of its 4 star rating.

The shower was impossible to temperature control. When we complained we were told we could only do it via email! In other words don't annoy us, just go away so we can ignore you more easily.
