Best recommendation I got for local food in Kauai. This is a small family hole in the wall restaurant with delicious food. We were the only open for morning to 3 PM. So better get it while it’s hot.
I came here and was recommended to try the pork lau lau and the Poké bowl. My mouth is still salivating and craving this as I’m speaking here in the mainland.
Besides that they also have cookies and other grab and items to go. Definitely recommend eating here if you really want to eat like the locals.

One of our very first food stops when we arrived in Kauai, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. After researching the best sushi on the island, Sushi Station came up again and again, and I can honestly say it lived up to the praise.

The sashimi I tried was freshly caught from Kauai. You could taste the quality immediately, with no lingering fishiness at all, just clean, fresh flavor that made each bite a joy.
I usually cannot finish three rolls in one sitting, but my best friend and I cleared the plate and were both completely at bliss.
The presentation, flavors, balance of ingredients, and freshness of the fish all came together perfectly, and the kindness of the staff made the experience even better.

This was place is the bomb and very likely the best sushi I have had in my entire life.. We got the ginger crazy roll, Godzilla roll, and the softshell crab roll. The fish here is incredible, especially the yellowtail with Jalapeño in a truffle ponzu sauce which is the best thing I’ve eaten in recent memory. It is poolside so the ambiance isn’t really great but is clean and relatively spacious. The breakfast menu has something for everyone but we all decided to have avocado toast. This is probably our favorite restaurant in Lihue and definitely one of the best sit-downs on the island. My family came for dinner after looking for a meal a little different from Hawaiian BBQ and sushi.
Our Katsu and Tonkatsu were tender with a light, flaky, well-seasoned crust. Butterfish was just flaky enough and rich; it was simmered in a light sweet soy-based sukiyaki sauce that was a tasty change from the typical miso marinaded black cod. I've had Tofu Agedashi plenty before, but here I tried their concept of a Katsu Agedashi as part of the two dish combination with Butterfish -- dashi broth is sweet, lightly salted, and a nice light alternative to ordering Katsu curry or Tonkatsu.
Both the authentic food, portions, and friendliness of our table service impressed us a ton. Might just be back for a second visit this trip.

Really good and authentic Japanese food. Really enjoyed everything from the miso soup to the main dish. Even the side plate fries were delicious. Something as seemingly simple as good zaru soba and tempura are amazingly difficult to find in Hawaiʻi in general (the soba is often mushy, and the tempura is more thickly battered okazu style). But, at Kiibo, the soba was perfectly chewy...it, along with the tempura, was basically identical to what I often eat in Japan.
My dining partner ordered the katsu and said it was basically the same what he has gotten in Japan...just a little larger.

I go here for the little cafe in the back- the supermarket part is a joke. Random products in random places. I would never get meat from here. Most shelves were empty. Small little sushi and poke joint hiding inside a small supermarket on the side of the road. There is a small sign outside so it’s easy to overlook if you aren’t paying attention. Parking lot is small and fills fast. All that being said, you don’t want to miss out on this place.
Amazing food. Fresh and delicious. We had the Gorilla Poke Bowl and a California roll. Both were excellent. The poke was some of the best I’ve ever eaten and fresh as can be. The California roll was the same. (See pictures)

But somebody behind the bar needs more practice shaking drinks because we had multiple watery cocktails with ice floating at the top. We are staying at the resort and made our reservation about 12 days in advance of our stay. Based on reviews, we were really looking forward to Stevenson’s sushi. Unfortunately, the strong, fishy smell outside & inside the restaurant put us off of, but we didn’t let it deter us. We had lobster dynamite, ahi, stevenson roll, and a couple other rolls. We requested all on soy paper but received them all with seaweed. Not a huge issue but not how we ordered them. The sushi was not great…fine, but not great unfortunately. Had our last dinner in Kauai here and it didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was very nice and the food was delicious. We had fish and chips and a rainbow roll. The fish was amazing, the fries were just ok. (We had originally tried to order the beyond burger, it’s on the menu but they no longer serve it). Was hesitant on going since seeing the most recent reviews.
However, my mom and I arrived and we were trying to wait for a table with a view. We sat at the bar and the bartender Stevan (I believe was his name) was so nice 10/10 customer service. He recommend a place where we could go and see a waterfall that wouldn’t be too strenuous on her because she has bad knees. He talked to us the whole time gave us recommendations. Needless to say we ended up sitting at the bar and eating. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp and the salmon was super good not dry at all. We also ordered all different types of fruity tropical drinks (good for vacationers looking to have a cocktail). Decided to try this restaurant out after a lovely photo shoot with me and my wife today. The atmosphere in this restaurant is amazing, all the decors, chairs and tables are up to date. Lighting is very soft and not too up in your face. Has a nice view of some palm trees, the road and another restaurant across the street. Hands down the best food and drinks in Hanalei! Edward runs a first class establishment. Evans our waiter was the best. They didn't have cocktail sauce and he whipped it up for us no problem.
The food here was absolutely amazing. We had to order a second helping of the calamari.. perfectly breaded and fried. The fish and chips was also prepared perfectly. High quality ingredients. The fish tacos are also a must.
Drinks were reasonable, the Mai Tai's were strong and only 8 bucks. They also have coconut Porter on tap which is a personal favorite.

Have been here three times and happy with the food, though the sushi prices are double of the East coast. I chalk it up to Hawaii inflation. I rarely write a review on Google maps but cannot help but feel indignant to discourage any prospective customer from trying the food here. We ordered a $20 Tom Yum soup with only mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes in a tomato-soup base. No hint of shrimp paste, Thai chili base, fish sauce, lime leaf, and galangal. Very bland taste of lemongrass. Adding shrimp costs $6 more.
The green curry tasted like just thawed from a microwave. The broth was over diluted with congealed oil floating around. The thinly sliced chicken was overcooked and very tough to chew.
I ordered the “must try” crying tiger which is a steak with a sweet and sour sauce. I ordered it medium but it came well done. The steak had grill char marks on it but looked and tasted like thawed from frozen. No juice came out of it while cutting the steak. The sticky rice that goes with the dish came in a plastic bag hoarding inside a basket.
This is simply the WORST Thai food I’ve ever had anywhere and I paid $100 for it. The service was good and the wait time for food was okay. At this price point you must hire a better chef and make food fresh or the customers will stop coming.

Everything that we ordered was amazing! Must visit when in Kauai. Tuna Tartarte, Carparccio, White sand, creamy scallop and Summer in Chicago rolls were very flavorful and fresh. If I had to choose a favorite in the rolls it would be a tie between the Summer in Chicago and Creamy Scallops. I recommend to try them all!

A friend who lives in Kapaa recommend this place, it did not disappoint! Our meal was some of our favorite sushi we have had on island this trip. The Toro was expertly prepared, the japanese scallop was so nice and fresh. I'm not as big of a salmon fan as my wife, but the salmon lover roll was delicious. Don't miss out!
