Nestled in the heart of Folkestone, Chandos Premier Hotel Folkestone - Channel Tunnel offers a charming and straightforward stay for travelers. This family-run establishment features cozy rooms, some with shared bathrooms, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere without any fuss. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi and delicious English breakfasts served daily. The hotel is conveniently located just a short drive from popular attractions like Port Lympne Wild Animal Park and Dover Castle, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
We needed somewhere urgent to stay as all the premier inns were full. So we found this one. The door was opened by a man in his dressing gown with his chest and stomach on display, we then walked in and was hit with a horrid smell of wet dog and the dogs were growling and barking. We were then charged £70 even tho the site says £40. The room had holes in the walls, dirty bed sheets, gone off milk in the fridge and mold in the bathroom, the shower was also zip tied on! During the night we were woken up to someone talking to themselves loudly in the other room at 5am this continued until 9am they were shouting and nothing was done about it. Once we decided to leave we left rather quickly because we were disturbed by what was happening during the night. Again as we walked down stairs the horrid smell of wet dog was still apparent. The outside of the building is worn down and in no good state at all. Overall me and my friends were disgusted with it and wouldn’t recommend to anyone even if desperate! Stay in the car! It would be a better choice.
Lucy W — Google review
A short wait after ringing the door bell the door was opened and I was welcomed in. The stench of dog and dog piss hit me like a brick. Made me gasp almost. I was in I needed the room so just took my key and was shown the room. I had a kettle, microwave and switched off fridge available. No tea making facilities. I checked the bed and sniffed it. It seemed clean enough. Then I went out of the evening. Back after a few pints and a meal in bed I had to suffer about half hour of the dogs responsible for the foul stench yapped relentlessly elsewhere in the building. They finally shut up and I slept. Yoy can see the photos of the shower in the morning. The dirty ones are before I used it. The clean ones are after. So not sure if it was just a huge amount of dust or if because I moved the plug hole blocker so the water would drain and not well up. Last week I stayed in Folkestone in a hotel £3 cheaper which was totally fine and brilliant for the money. When I'm back next week I'll be back to the original place.
David B — Google review
Phone line was unreachable, immediately noticed the horrible smell of wet dog as soon as the front door was opened. Good thing we were only staying one night before a channel crossing. In the room, not all the lights worked, the dirty sheets, hairs in the bed, holes in the wall, could hear the room next door snoring, mould in the bathroom. Would rather have just stayed in the car.
Alex P — Google review
The room is not properly clean, some spider webs on the walls, and the toilet is not clean properly as well, the carpet is wet too, but tje care taker is nice very helpful

Very rarely do I use anything like this kind of location, mostly because it was a bit of an emergency booking........... Yes the price and rating were low and a red flag.......... But simply WOW! Like the other 1 star reviews of here mentioned, to be greeted by the kind of person you'd expect to have been grown in middle earth open the door looking like rab c nesbits English cousin......... The putrid smell of urine and excrement was like a dirty wave of "run away now" as a warning! Threadbare carpets everywhere with the DNA of the thousands of potentially missing humans unalived in this place by Rab was shocking! I was shown to "room 4" and given the key to a door that I don't think even locked anyway and handed a clean towel........... Which was as thin as my hope of leaving in the morning alive and having caught something! The dirty carpeted floor was something else! Fluff from socks or dark hair from some of these missing people, I didn't want to check! The accumulated dust around the mattress frame was 100% able to be sent for carbon dating and in amounts that showed me that it had been untouched for a while!! The draws had a used sink sponge in it and other items that should not be in there! A dusty microwave on the floor, cables that will definitely start a fire soon and a TV that has the volume locked at a level that just about hides your crying overnight, praying to see your loved ones again! All this and had to put up with next room 5 arguing after midnight with another room, pillows from 1855 and a bathroom door that only closed with a slap as the handle ceased to work! I did have a shower as I'd been on the road for 12 hours......... But wondered after if I'd done any permanent damage had been done! If "The Hills Have Eyes" was a B&B........This is it!!! I'm sorry team but this place needs shut down!
Mr K — Google review
It is in a very rough neighborhood, bad roads, lot of awful people on the streets. Avoid this area!!! The whole place is very run down and in an awful state. Just icky! The room puzzles me by how many things are totally wrong. Lights in the bathroom don't work. Everything is dirty, run down, awful state, room smells rather bad. Fridge had a bottle of very old milk 🤮 Don't ever go here! Better sleep in your car.
Ramon K — Google review
Possible the worst place I have stayed. The room was disgusting and filthy. Fluid stains running down the wall. Dust everywhere. Fridge microwave and tea making facilities I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. Small flies in the room. Very grimy all over. I gave 1 star because we got a key for the front door (which actually needs a Clean) and the toilet flushed. The owner did come out in his dressing gown and asked if my stay was ok…. So I told him my thoughts and I’m fairly shure it will be nice and clean later on 🤔🤔🤔……. Oh and the bed and breakfast doesn’t do breakfast.
Mark U — Google review
Absolutely shocking excuse for a 'hotel' - stank of dogs, worn out, greasy carpets, lumpy beds and cables hanging out of the wall that were a trip hazard let alone dangerous. Room looked like a jumble sale - I refused to stay and they have refused to refund! Avoid like the plague

Pub
Located on The Stade, The Ship Inn has maintained its name since 1717 and has a rich history of being involved in the smuggling trade. Although it has been rebuilt at some point, the exact date is unknown. In the late 1800s, it featured a nine-pin alley in the cellar where sailors and fishermen would play. Additionally, the nearby village of Sandgate offers various attractions such as wine bars, breweries, restaurants, pubs, and coffee spots.
Very clean and comfortable room. Great view from the window. The location is perfect. Very nice and helpful staff!!!! We were happy to stay at this place.

Can't fault it. The staff were all absolutely lovely, helpful and patient even under pressure. Our room was clean and had great views as the hotel.is on the cliff top. We ate there a couple of times too. Good food and not too pricey. Small but important, big mugs, big towels, great sound proofing. Shower could have done with some umpf

My family and I stayed over the weekend for a wedding, we had a large number of rooms booked. The few days before arriving we found it very hard to book the early check in, and the morning of check in it became available. The suite we used with the bride to get married was as hot as an oven, even with it raining heavily the room and corridors were hot. Thankfully our bedroom was the floor above and had AC but really it wasn’t very cold and we couldn’t change any of the settings. The bed was comfy, the shower worked fine, and the bathroom was clean and we even had a tv! The rooms are a little bit noisy, and the seagulls sit on your windowsill and scream at funny hours. The breakfast was brilliant, and most importantly the staff were lovely. We arrived at 11am and everyone was bright and friendly, and again at 1am when we arrived back the night manager was so friendly and helped us all inside. He told us some very Interesting things about the area before we went off to bed. This morning when needing help the staff on every floor said good morning as we went down the stairs. I couldn’t fault them at all! If you are a colder person the warmth will not bother you at all, it’s just something to note if you aren’t. Parking was quite easy, and although we didn’t drink in the bar it was very nice looking and the windows downstairs looking over the sea was amazing!

I travelled down from London to meet a friend and stayed here for a night, it was a really pleasant experience. The hotel has some really nice views and is located near the beach. I booked a small Cozy room and liked the small touches like free bottles of water in the room the bathroom and furnishing was really nice. The one issue I had was the AC while it was on the max and at the lowest temperature it was really low. I did speak to the chap at reception who took a look and got me a fan to help with the heat. I didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food but would be open to try it when I next visit and I would recommend this hotel.

Hotel is dof Friendly. Ideally located within a short walk to the beach. Parking outside with voucher ask at counter. Bar and restaurant great. Friendly service staff. Food was amazing. Bedroom was large with a comfortable bed. Shower room was good size. Nice hot shower.

Mixed Experience at The View – Lovely Staff but Major Issues We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment at The View, and unfortunately, the experience did not live up to our expectations. Positives: The staff were absolutely lovely—kind, welcoming, and always smiling. However, the check-in process was far too long, with lots of paperwork to fill out. The apartment was spacious, which was a definite plus. Negatives: Terrible cleanliness: When I opened the microwave to heat my baby’s bottle, I found a moldy fish and chips inside—clear proof that it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. I had to clean it myself, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. Lack of responsiveness: I wanted to call reception to report the issue, but the room phone didn’t work. False advertising about the view: For a hotel named The View, ending up in a basement room with a view of walls is simply outrageous given the price. Horrible mattresses: Sleeping was a nightmare—the springs dig into your back, making it impossible to get a comfortable rest. Extremely noisy: It was impossible to get a good night's sleep due to constant noise. If you're looking for a quiet and restful stay, this is not the place. Strange TV experience: It felt like our TV remote controlled multiple rooms, because at one point, our TV seemed possessed, turning on and off or changing channels on its own! Unreliable payment system: The card machine didn’t work, meaning I had to leave my bank card, which felt very insecure. Conclusion: Despite the adorable staff, I cannot recommend their two-bedroom apartments. The cleanliness, noise, comfort, and overall experience were far from acceptable. If you're looking for rest and relaxation, this is definitely not the place. A huge disappointment.
Aline H — Google review
A nice seafront location with parking nearby. Friendly staff and whilst we didn't eat the bar prices were good and clearly popular with the locals. Our room was the smallest on the hotel however was perfectly adequate with a modern shower ensuite and very comfortable bed.
Neal W — Google review
Had a great stay at the hotel, hotel has its flaws but overall it was good. I found the bar staff to be quite rude (two women and the man with curly hair). A little arrogant and gave dirty looks. Hotel Receptionist was friendly.
Sebastian R — Google review
The hotel itself was outdated and sparsely furnished, lacking the comfort and atmosphere one would expect from a Radisson. The rooms were extremely noisy, with poor sound insulation, and the beds were uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the entrance area consistently smelled of cooking grease from the kitchen. Not exactly a welcoming first impression. Overall, a very underwhelming experience. Definitely not up to the standard the brand promises.

We had a great stay at the Rob Roy Guest House. The room was very quiet and clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Sarah is very friendly and helpful. She has a wealth of knowledge of the area. There were plenty of breakfast items to choose from. I highly recommend staying at the Rob Roy!

Very friendly hosts and a good breakfast. Four private parking spaces in front of the house, when full, street parking. Dog friendly. Dogs can run free in the secured rear garden. A small Supermarket is close-by. The rooms are outdated, but very clean.

A lovely friendly welcome to weary travellers. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Perfectly located for Channel Tunnel.

Had a great experience here. I was relocating to Germany with my pet rabbits and needed somewhere to stay near the Euro-Shuttle before the crossing. Was able to bring the rabbits into the room in an indoor cage so they could relax over night. As we left early in the morning, breakfast was set up for us downstairs (lots of choice for food and drink). Very welcoming owner. Price was competitive and place was clean. Don't hesitate to stay here! :D
Maroo — Google review
It was just as described and fully met our expectations. We didnt spend a great deal of time here, as we were attending a wedding. Owners/staff polite, friendly and willing to share local knowledge. We had a twin room, on the top floor. Being 6ft 5 tall, i anticipated havibg to duck down a lot but honestly, it was never an issue as there was ample headroom. We would have preferred ensuite but that was all they had vacant. The room was clean and tidy with a decent amount of space to store things. I didn't get up early enough to have a breakfast (my fault for being a lazy-bones) but dad said "it wasn't bad". The only minor negative i can think of is the lack of parking. However, i blame the town planners for that, not the guest house. We did get a space on arrival. However, on our second day, we returned quite late and had to park a few hundred metres away on a side road. This was merely a slight inconvenience for us but it might have proven a struggle for elderly or disabled guests. I think most guest houses and B&B's have the same issues though. In conclusion, i absolutely would stay here again.
Justin L — Google review
The room was very nice and the bed very comfortable. Had a really good night's sleep. The breakfast was good. 15 minute stroll into town with places to eat ( we went to Wetherspoon's). Good place to stay if you are going on the Eurotunnel. Sarah and Jim were very nice people and very helpful.

What a great welcome from Sue on arrival. You could not ask for more. Lovely room. Nice amenities. Super clean. I will definitely go again when staying on visits to Dover and near the tunnel. Superb croissants and coffee for breakfast. Sue and her husband are excellent hosts.

After a short drive from the Eurotunnel, I was warmly welcomed by Sue and felt immediately comfortable. She showed me around, arranged breakfast preferences, answered my questions I had about my travel plans for the next day, and was absolutely lovely. I enjoyed spending some some time in the lovely garden relaxing and had a restful night's sleep before continuing my journey. I would stay here again. I recommend giving a call to book a room. This helps to avoid additional commission fees.

Folkestone Harbour Arm is a vibrant destination offering a mix of food stands, bars, live music stages, and seasonal events. It is located opposite a pebble beach and beach boardwalk, leading to an eclectic range of small shacks serving cuisine from around the globe. Nearby, there's an outdoor cinema showcasing classic films and sports coverage throughout the year. The renowned Rocksalt Restaurant offers panoramic views over the English Channel.
Folkestone Harbour Arm is such a wonderful place! It has a very cosy and welcoming atmosphere, making it perfect for a relaxing day out with family. There are plenty of things to see and do – from beautiful views of the sea to lovely cafes and little shops to explore. We really enjoyed walking along the pier, soaking up the fresh air and peaceful vibe. It feels so charming and full of life at the same time. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Folkestone – it’s ideal for families and for anyone who loves spending time by the sea.

The Folkestone Harbour along with the Lighthouse is an iconic attraction for anyone visiting Folkestone. The place has a long history dating back in the 1900s. The photos along with the valuable information speaks a lot. The Harbour area was quite windy when we visited yesterday but Sun came out later and calmed the environment. There is an entertaining promenade with live music and food cafes along with good seating arrangements. A place worthy to visit in summer.
Khandker Q — Google review
What an amazing place to spend a few hours (or maybe a full day). Absolutely loved what had been done with a disused railway station. There are some great bars eateries, offering exceptional views across the English Channel.
Aluap B — Google review
The harbour arm has been 'done up' and is very nice. There are lots of independent small market shops and places where you can eat and drink, a bit like Christmas Market huts. There is a big outdoor TV screen fir watching sports etc. Not sure whether all this is seasonal abd just maybe weekends out of season? But there are other places such as the very nice bar by the lighthouse, and a small brewery pub that I should imagine stays open more regularly. There is also a few fair rides. The views of folkestone are lovely from here too.
Marianne — Google review
Enjoyed a lovely walk from Lower Leas car park along the promenade & boardwalk to the harbour arm. Here we stopped at the Champagne bar in the old lighthouse. Well worth a visit, nice cocktails and yummy charcuterie.
Julie H — Google review
I adore Folkestone Harbour. The views are absolutely stunning, if you're visiting Folkestone, you simply cannot miss the Harbour Arm. Plenty of independent traders offering a great range of foods and drinks, there's truly something for everyone. Lots of different events and entertainment on throughout the year... I could go on and on!

Great place for a day out. Try the Ship Inn at the Stade, great food reasonable priced. Usually bands playing on the Harbour arm and lots of food and drink outlets during the summer months

Popped by early morning on 1st May, cracking weather and can't beat the views on a day like this. Great breakfast at Hulas on the beach side (bacon and egg roll, decaf cappuccino but no pictures as wolfed it down!). Good walk to stretch the legs after a quick swim at Mermaid Beach.

The Folkestone Grand Burstin Hotel offers no-frills rooms in a large setting, featuring a cabaret show in the bar, health club facilities, and dining options. The hotel's Salon de The is located in the elegant glass Palm Court, with an interesting historical background involving King Edward VII. Situated right on Folkestone Harbour, it provides great views of the harbor and boats from the bar.
Don’t know why the reviews for here are so bad, this was amazing!, our room was £74 and was more then we could have hoped for, no hot water, room was like a sauna, AND the windows didn’t open far enough to breathe. A great addition to this is the partially working elevators, giving you time to contemplate life decisions whilst awaiting to go to your floor, 10 minutes pass and a queue starts to form so you decide to take the stairs, arriving to your sauna already hot and sweat with no way to cool down. 10/10 misery, would do again

This is a Britannia hotel at this time. It's very busy as two coach loads peeps have arrived. It has a small square swimming pool, a full gym, a bar, a restaurant, and bingo. The hotel itself is nicely presented on the harbour and has a brilliant views. The hotel rooms look like they're freshly painted to a reasonable standard and the carpet looks clean. Some of the electrical fittings ie switches and attachments have cracks in them and the usual paint on them. The bed is comfortable. The TV works and overall very reasonable

Great location, good sized room, within our budget of under £100/nt, nice staff, upgraded to a harbour view with ease and were treated to a wonderful sunrise. Reading other people's negative reviews can be really off-putting but this hotel was totally fine for us for one night while we explored Folkestone at the weekend. Rooms are very old fashioned and tired but everything worked fine. Bathroom was clearly refurbished recently as it was in better condition than the room. We were able to collect keys at 1pm, leave luggage for free, and could access our room from 4pm which worked for us. We didn't try their food, with so much on offer in the harbour and in the town we saw no point. Prepare for a bit of a queue at reception at peak check in times. The fake goods bazaar in the foyer is really not a great look and cheapens the vibe, but that would be our only main criticism. Also some loud people drinking out front of hotel at times, which the hotel should do something about proactively when it happens as it might disturb people's comfort. Would stay again. Thanks for hosting us

We arrived earlier and were told by reception that check-in was strictly after 3 PM. However, when we returned at 3:50 PM, the room we were given had clearly been used, even though it had supposedly been cleaned. Shockingly, even the reception staff didn’t seem aware that the room was not ready. After a long argument, we were eventually moved to a different room. Unfortunately, the second room was no better. • The socket was not near the bed, which made it very inconvenient to charge devices. • The fan’s wire was too short, so the airflow didn’t even reach the bed. • There were no basic toiletries provided. • The room was not clean – furniture was extremely dusty and dirty. • there was no intercom Overall, it was a very uncomfortable and poorly managed stay. Definitely not worth the price. A very short and disappointing day for us

Stayed here with coach holiday. Location very good. Hotel ground floor lovely but that's where it ends. Stayed in premier room, heaven knows what a basic room is like. Only positive was it was clean apart from windows, filthy inside and out, tried cleaning ourselves to no avail. Rooms not serviced, not even changing rubbish bin or clean cups. 1 bath towel each, only 1 hand towel between 2, no bath mat to step on when getting out of bath/shower. Bathroom so old and botched together. Food disgusting. Mini fridge but didn't get cold. Considering this hotel is in a prime position upstairs was a dump. Only positive was staff friendly

We were travelling with my husband, son and our dog. We were "welcomed" by an exhausted staff who clearly couldn't be bother to be friendly. We were told there would be a deposit of £50 for our dog, which wouldn't leave the account but would be returned, provided all was OK in the room. It has been 9 days after our visit and the money hasn't been returned, still showing as "pending". The room had two towels, even if it was clear three people would stay. It had no toiletries or tea/coffee/creamer. We even had to pay an additional fee to park our car. Added to this, the vent at the bathroom sounded like a helicopter. The last straw was being woken up at midnight by a loud false fire alarm, including a flashing red light. It stopped briefly and then resumed. There was also a muffled message. We all went out just to be told it was a false alarm. Was no apology the day after. Do yourself a favour and look for an alternative accommodation. You will need to keep adding extra fees to make that room worth staying.

Literally the only good thing about this hotel is the proximity to Le Shuttle and the apple juice at breakfast. Strange smell throughout, staff couldn't be bothered, bacon could have been resuscitated by a good vet, food in general was poor, entire place is grubby and I'm sure the man that got arrested at the front of the hotel would have had a better quality mattress in jail. Glad to only have been there one night

Iconic hotel, with a great location just on Folkstone’s harbour. Decor from original 1980/90s but was ok overall. Room was fair though had the traditional poor mattresses with uneven springs etc. Staff were pleasant enough, sea view from room and the hotel had good parking. Main reason for 2 stars was the pool. It was lovely and warm but had to pay £10 to use it. However, my mine gripe was that the pool area had a very pungent unpleasant smell! Like a major drain being blocked or something significant was rotting. Very off putting!

The Relish is a charming townhouse B&B located in the West End of Folkestone, just a short walk from the sea and various restaurants. The individually decorated rooms offer a clean and tastefully decorated space for guests to relax. The full English breakfast served in the lovely breakfast room provides a great selection of hot and cold options with views of Augusta Gardens. Despite being close to the Leas coastal park and beach, it offers an extremely quiet location.
Exceptional service I seldom give hotels 5 stars, but the exceptional service and friendly staff really made this hotel stand out for me. Raj made us feel welcome and his attention to detail is a cut above the rest. Our room clean and although on the small side, it was newly decorated and lovely. Breakfast was great and the dining room is not overcrowded. We really enjoyed our stay here and will most definitely be back.

I stayed at The Relish for one night. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was great. It’s a little tricky to park nearby but luckily I was able to use one of the hotel’s parking spaces. The room could do with a little refresh but perfect for a night away.

We spent a family weekend at The Relish, booking a total of 4 rooms at this establishment. What struck us at check in was how inefficiently it was carried out. The staff member at the front desk was not new (family already knew him from a previous stay) and acted as if he was just in training. What was absolutely shocking was that he wrote down our credit card details in a notebook instead of entering them directly into the system. He argued that “he was too busy and would do it later”. Breakfast orders also landed in this notebook. Even though we were booked in for a specific time, there were delays or orders had switched times. Best of all, the facility's website asks you to fill in your breakfast order online. As it turned out on site, the only way to order was via this notebook. The same staff member did not even bother to say goodbye to us when we checked out, even though we occupied 50% of the place and knew well that things had not gone perfectly. We were also not informed that there was a renovation in the property so the whole facade was covered with a scaffolding. The room itself lacked shelves for belongings (there were just 2 ridiculous baskets in a cupboard imitating a fridge). As is typical in this type of building loud noises from the pipes when using water. The positives are the central location and access to the internal garden. Also, there is always a cake to enjoy in the afternoon.

I recently had the pleasure of staying 4 nights at The Relish. Yes the rooms are somewhat small and yes it does not have a lift, but this is down to the period architecture nothing else. The hotel manager Raj could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Freshly cooked breakfasts, brilliant.

We stayed a few weeks back for a wedding and had majority of the place. We couldn’t fault the service. The manager did everything and was brilliant and would recommend. He ensured everything was sorted from parking, to the rooms cleaned and breakfast. It was definitely five star service.

The rooms are well-appointed, with some resembling suites due to their separate toilet, bedroom, and bathroom connected by individual corridors.
The host is the most lovely lady I've seen in England Rooms are clean and tidy, the location is extremely quiet, and the house is well decorated. We'd stay here again when there's an opportunity. Thank you for the sandwiches 🥪

Our second stay here and as always, a fabulous place to stay, especially as a staging point to an early morning Tunnel crossing! Very well appointed rooms, facilities and the service from Zoe is top level. Couldn’t recommend this b’n’b highly enough!

Recently spent a lovely weekend at Foy House and couldn’t recommend it more. Quaint rooms, super clean and a wonderfully kind host. The packed lunch was such a unique treat as well!
Charlotte G — Google review
We stayed here on Friday 14th July on our way back from the Eurotunnel. Zoe, the owner, was really friendly and seemed to genuinely care about us. The hotel was really close to the town centre but was in a residential area so it was VERY quiet at night. Our room was more of a suite really- it had a separate toilet, bedroom and bathroom all connected by their own corridor with a lockable door. The bed was comfortable and the room and facilities were generally clean. Zoe gave us a packed lunch each, which was included in the price - the contents of this were very generous - a sandwich each (with our own choice of filling), bag of crisps each, an apple each and a drink and chocolate biscuit each. This meant we didn’t have to plan lunch on our onward journey. We will certainly stay here again on our way to or from the Eurotunnel or Dover Port.

We have stayed at Foy House a number of times on our way to our home in France. Don and Zoe are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are spotlessly clean, with tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast is second to none. Secure parking is a bonus. We highly recommend this B & B.

This place deserves nothing less than 5*. Everything was perfect throughout our 2-night stay at the beginning of July 2018. Very friendly welcome from the owners, a lovely furnished and decorated room equipped with all you may need, including more than well-stocked a tea tray. Spotless clean. Very quiet location granting a good night sleep. Superb home-cooked full English breakfast along with a variety of other choices - fresh fruit, cereal, yoghourt etc. The owners very professional, providing superb service while being friendly as well as very helpful. Likely to use this accommodation again in the future. Would happily recommend Foy House to anyone!

This is a wonderful B&B with private off street parking that we will continue to use when we travel too and from Germany. It's literally a ten minutes drive from the Euro tunnel. Always a warm welcome, lovely bedrooms, comfortable beds, a generous refreshments tray with kettle - toiletries in the bathroom. There is a great breakfast menu too from full English breakfast, fruit and cereal.

Rocksalt Rooms offers boutique accommodations located in a newly renovated house with stunning views of Folkestone Harbour. The rooms feature bare red-brick walls, wet rooms, and original antique beds. Each room provides unique views of the working harbor, free Wi-Fi, and a flat-screen TV. The location is convenient and not far from the restaurant. Guests are welcomed with tea and coffee facilities in the room and can enjoy an escort to their room upon check-in.
The room was very well laid out, it’s not huge but there is enough space for a couple of nights comfortably. The location is good , it’s not far from the restaurant either. You go to the restaurant to book in and they asked if we needed milk (tea and coffee facilities are in the room ) and they escort you to your room . There was a nespresso machine and capsules , tea bags, kettle, mini fridge and still and sparkling water. I liked that they had proper glasses and mugs. They had bathrobes which was a nice touch. We had a sea view so was the top floor which was nice. The bed was curious comfortable . There is an ironing board in the hallway with things like shower caps and emery boards if you need them . The bathroom has a wet room and toilet, but no real space for toiletries because of the size. When we were there the shower was the hottest but it was fine for me. The only minor point was that our room wasn’t serviced (towels changed, bed made up etc ) even though we asked for it, but it was only two nights to not too bad . The breakfast at rock salt is good quality but it does take a bit of time so be prepared. It’s also only for an hours window during the week days , 2 hours on the weekend

We booked Rocksalt Rooms for a wedding nearby and having been to the restaurant Rocksalt several times I had high hopes the quality would have been transferred. First off, in order to check in you need to go to the restaurant itself. They will then show you to the rooms, which are just across from the hotel. This means that there is no front desk and it isn’t 24hrs; this can cause issues if you want to check in late evening. You also can’t check in before 16:00 hours. The offsite staff were helpful and did try to help with a solution so credit to them. The property is access via a small alleyway between Backstreet and The Stade. The front of the property is a disused restaurant. This doesn’t make for the best welcome and looks a bit naff from outside. However, once you enter your room you are greeted with a quaint and well decorated room. The naked brick wall and the white shutters looking out on to the harbour are nice. The metal framed bed looks nice and fits the rooms decor well but practically it’s squeaky and uncomfortable when you want to sit up. The mattress was comfy and the sheets were nice. The pillows however resulted in a poor nights sleep. They’re small and the filling is too firm; one pillow was too high and one was too low. The bathroom is a wet room, large enough and is also nicely decorated, it had a skylight so well lit. The only criticisms would be that there is a shelf over the sink that actually goes halfway over the sink itself. You effectively have to put your hands under the shelf to turn the taps on and wash your hands. When you’re brushing your teeth you need to be careful not to spit the tooth paste on the shelf. Unfortunately there was also a long black hair on one of the towels; I couldn’t blame the other half as hers is blonde. Continuing on with cleanliness; one of the cups in the room was also dirty inside. The windows looking out to sea were dirty thanks to the seagulls. It looked old so would have expected it to be cleaned off between each guest. It is a shame as overall the rest of the room was clean and tidy. The room is a relatively well equipped; TV, coffee machine and kettle. However, one of the bedside lamps didn’t work and there is no fridge. Personally, this then effectively renders the coffee machine and kettle useless; unless you like black tea and coffee. There isn’t any wardrobes or drawers for clothes so you need to live out of your suitcase; for us that wasn’t an issue. Plenty of cups, a complimentary bottle of water, vodka and fudge were welcome additions. If you like to sleep in a blacked-out room the blinds don’t work all too well. A lot of light creeps through the shutters. This means it’s very bright in the morning. The room was very warm and there is no air-con. Although you can obviously open the doors and there was a fan already in the room. Luckily the night time temperature were only in the low teens. I’d imagine it would be unbearable on hot nights. I’m also not too sure on how good the sound proofing is; I was awoken in the middle of the night but a males voice. I’m not sure whether he was outside or in an adjacent room. Breakfast is served across the road in the main restaurant and was a nice cooked breakfast. There is no parking at the restaurant. The closest car park you can only park for 10 hours on the Ringo app. The car park at the end of the harbour by the large hotel is around a 5 minute walk and costs around £14. It’s a very cobblely walk which isn’t fun for wheeled suitcases and ladies (or men, or anyone) in heels. Overall, the room was a nice place to be. If it’s just an overnight stop you probably won’t be disappointed. Think of it more like an Air BnB than a hotel. With a few changes it could gain some extra stars.

Lovely weekend spent with family celebrating my Mums birthday. Shared a twin room with my sister. Our room was lovely, clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. We had drinks and lunch in the bar and then an evening meal in the restaurant followed by breakfast the next day. All the food was excellent, with plenty of choice on the menu. The staff were excellent and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. A lovely relaxing stay, and we will definitely be back, a great place to stay.

Holiday Inn Express Folkestone - Channel Tunnel, an IHG Hotel is a modern hotel offering complimentary Wi-Fi, parking, and breakfast. The bistro-style restaurant and bar provide convenient dining options for guests. Situated in a tranquil area near The White Horse, the hotel offers well-equipped rooms with amenities like an electric kettle, central heating, and TV. Guests appreciate the friendly customer service and comfortable beds but suggest improving shower water pressure.
We arrived at the Holiday Inn Express Folkestone in the middle of the night after leaving our original accommodation due to noise and an unsafe environment. Tired and stressed, we were hoping to find a safe place to stay, and we couldn’t have been more grateful for the experience we had here. The guy who was on the night shift (9. September to 10. September) was incredibly understanding and kind. He instantly turned our awful night around, made us feel safe, and ensured we could finally get a few hours of rest. Please give him a raise, he truly deserves it for the way he helped us! The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the breakfast the next morning was great. This was our very first time staying at a Holiday Inn Express, as we usually go for fancier hotels or B&Bs, but the service here really impressed us. Thank you for turning a stressful situation into a positive memory. We will definitely consider Holiday Inn Express in Folkestone again in the future!

I always stay here before Le Mans as it’s very convenient and has always worked well for the first Eurotunnel train out. Rooms are great; staff are great but unfortunately it’s not as good as it was. 1 parking charges now to stay and also for any cars left for the trip (used to be a real bonus) and 2 hot breakfast roll time has been put back so you can’t get these early. Small things I know but changes to be aware of. It’s still convenient and staff are great but the icing and the cherry on top have been taken away.

One of the best hotel stay experience I have had. I would rate the stay 10 out of 10 (considering the price). Great location, enough parking at a good price. The rooms are a decent size with everything you might need, air conditioning, ironing board, iron, kettle tv etc. The rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. I think the best aspect of the hotel is the AMAZING TEAM, everyone from reception to housekeeping and very welcoming and extremely helpful, espcial thanks to Lee who checked us in and gave us the information we were looking for. I would highly recommend this hotel.

I didn’t stay overnight at the Holiday Inn Express Folkestone, so I can’t comment on the rooms, hence the neutral star rating , but I did stop in to charge my Tesla and briefly speak to reception, and the overall experience left a very positive impression. I popped inside to sort out parking while my car was charging and was greeted by genuinely friendly and helpful staff. Even though I wasn’t a guest, they treated me with the same courtesy and professionalism you’d hope for as a paying customer. No awkwardness, no cold attitudes, just helpful service and clear communication. It’s a small thing, but it makes a big difference when you’re on the road and just need things to be simple and efficient. The reception area and lobby were clean, modern, and well-kept, which gave me the sense that the rest of the hotel is likely to follow suit. It didn’t feel tired or dated like many roadside stops. There are also a few shops and places to grab food just a short walk away, which was perfect for passing the time while my Tesla charged. If you’re doing a road trip or EV journey through Kent, it’s a solid pit stop with fast chargers and easy access from the main roads. What really stood out for me — and what makes this hotel one to remember — is its location. It’s only about a 15-minute drive to the Dover ferry port, which is a massive plus if you're planning to cross to France early in the morning. If I ever needed an overnight stay before catching a ferry, I’d seriously consider booking a room here. It’s far enough out of the madness of Dover to avoid the congestion and chaos, but close enough that you can sleep in a bit and still make your crossing without stress. Plus, the EV charger means you can start your continental drive with a full battery. All in all, while I didn’t get to stay overnight, the combination of great service, solid location, convenient amenities, and EV friendliness makes this a hotel I’d recommend, especially to fellow Tesla or EV drivers passing through or heading for the ferry.

Stayed here for one night. But why we got rooms with wheelchair access is a big question mark. Hope our stay in those rooms didn’t hinder anyone who actually needed it. Breakfast was good. Only the juices tasted like they were watered down a bit. Will probably stay there again in the future.

Lovely staff. They even remembered us from our stay the week before. Good breakfast. The room was clean but not enough charging points. And the lock was broken. Holiday Inn, Folkestone. I've stayed here many times over the years. It serves us well because of the distance to the tunnel. But Wow, I have never felt this ripped off until tonight. Yes, it's cooked chilled food that's overpriced. Yes the bar is expensive. But we put up with it. Never again IHG. On arrival we found that parking is now chargeable. Why? There's nowhere you can walk to from here, it's in the middle of an industrial estate. "Rip off". The room was fine and the aircon actually worked so a plus point there. But for 97 quid? Really. Onto dinner, it was busy on a Sunday night, I get that, were told dinner would be at least 30 mins. Looked at the bar menu, £30 for a cheap bottle of Pinot. Didn't bother, brought 2 small glasses at £8 each. Hubby cut his lip as one of the glasses was broken and we didn't notice. We did get a large replacement for that. Onto the food. Trying to order, no fish, no steak pies, no chicken skewers. The poor lad was mortified as there was hardly anything left. This was 6.30, I feel sorry for the people arriving later. We settled on 2 chicken curries for around £33. Tesco sells better "ping meals" than that. Tough and tasteless. We were tired and just wanted to sleep. But the Holiday Inn at Folkestone is nothing more than a rip off. We won't be back, we will just stay in Calais. At least we can have a decent meal and wine without feeling ripped off. I will say that the staff in Folkestone were amazing. They did everything they could to amend everyone's issues. Its not fair on them, it's not their fault that the upper management thinks it's OK to treat customers like cash cows.

Been here a few times now when we are back in the UK. The rooms are absolutely stunning, and so clean. Staff are honestly hard working and certainly know about excellent customer service. The general manager loves our dog Daisy, she is obsessed with him. The best kept secret dog friendly hotel. All the staff are more than hard working, they make you feel so welcomed.

Overall, the hotel looks really lovely. The interiors are beautifully designed, with the stained glass windows along the wooden staircase. I think we had a pretty decent double bed room. Our room and the bathroom looked really clean. It has the basic things one needs in a good hotel. Also, I wish this wasn't the case (although maybe because I am a clean "freak" myself), but the bed and some of the pillows had this damp smell which affected my overall rating of my stay :( Maybe the mattress or the pillows needed to have a warm spin or something at some point.

Avoid this hotel at all costs!!! Don't be fooled by the external beauty or stunning location. This really is Faulty towers of Folkestone. The first room we were given had a dip in the bed the size of a football, after complaining we were given an alternative room, which had dog beds and a dog bowl in,nobody asking if we had any allergies. We were then woken about 5 am to loud noise outside of the hotel. We don't know if they were having work done or it was the dustmen,it went on for at least half an hour. After finally getting back to sleep we were woken again by loud banging and stomping in the room above. By this point we gave up and decided to have a shower only to discover there was no mechanical ventilation in the bathroom only a very small window meaning the bathroom felt damp and mouldy. This goes against building regulations which states there must be mechanical ventilation in a bathroom with a shower or bath. Once in the shower, I discovered that it was fixed far to low to the wall, meaning I could not stand underneath it. The final straw was when I turned the shower on,water poured from the shower hose ,meaning there was zero pressure from the head. After a terrible shower ,I grabbed a towel from the towel rail,to my horror the rail was extremely unstable rocking back and forth if you touched it. This is extremely dangerous. When we left the hotel we reported all the issues to reception, we were told management would be in touch. After waiting 2 weeks nobody had contacted me. After several emails and being ignored the manager finally responded denying there was an issue with anything. I was offered a 25% discount on a future stay. Which I found insulting. Why would I want to return to a hotel that I would rate 1 star. I was then contacted by the regional manager, I was shocked to hear that he denied everything and basically called me a liar. I have never before come across such terrible customer service and unprofessional management . Unfortunately I have now been forced to go to the small claims court to get a refund.

Very nice hotel and lovely large room (superior double). Had a good nights sleep! Good breakfast. Parking on road safe and easy but extra £7.50 charge. Bit of a walk away from the centre or beach but the area around the hotel is very nice. Would be very happy to stay here again and probably will.

This was a great find - great value split by two people. The room was very comfy, lovely bed - we had a view of the sea too which was lovely. Handy for when you get off the shuttle from France. Night manager was slightly odd and didnt offer to help my mother with her luggage when she was struggling to get up the stairs but other than that 5*****. The building was lovely, big, old and charming which added character to the stay.

Excellent stay, we had to change dates at short notice and they accommodated us, the staff are all really friendly especially the bar and restaurant staff who'd I'd like to mention how friendly and professional they are. Room was clean and comfotable. Thoroughly recommend staying here!

What a lovely hotel. We stayed one night. It is around a 30 minute walk to the Folkestone Harbour, but its a pleasant walk. If you struggle with hills or steps, walk via the town centre. 10 minutes extra, but the slope isn't as bad. We had a lovely 4 poster bed and jacuzzi bath in our suite.

Just a short stroll from the pebble beach and adjacent to the historic Sandgate Castle, this hotel is perfectly positioned for exploring local attractions. Guests rave about the spacious and immaculate rooms that boast stunning views, ensuring a relaxing stay.
We have Sunday roast. Food is very. It’s a buffet like Sunday roast the carvery is nicely roast n fresh. We choose the 2 course of mains n dessert. Dessert selection is good n home made with good portion. Definitely would go again. Would need to book as it’s fairly busy.

Proper pub with good real ale, 9 lagers, and cider on tap. There is a large range of spirits and refrigerated bottles. The decor is tasteful and the furniture is comfortable. The toilets are pleasant and clean. 2 wood stoves and cheer in winter, the one in the pool area being lit most often. Music is normally playing. The snug room is good for conversation. Quiz nights are very popular, and booking is required. A comfortable outside seaing area is found at the back of the pub. The lunch menu has a good selection of lite bites under £10 and 8 main meals no more than £15.50 (May 2025) The evening menu has 11 mains £15.50 or less. The exception is 8oz rib eye at £18.95. Starters and deserts are very reasonably priced, too.

We stayed at the Royal Norfolk Hotel in Sandgate for 2 days and had a lovely experience. The room was cosy and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The hotel staff were very helpful and welcoming. The location is excellent — there's a bus stop right opposite the hotel, and the beachfront is just a 2-minute walk away. The hotel also has a bar and restaurant. We had lunch there on the first day, and the food was delicious and well-prepared. They offer breakfast, dinner, and a Sunday carvery as well, which we didn’t get a chance to try, but I’m sure they’d be just as good. Overall, a great stay — would definitely recommend!

We had a family pre Xmas carvery Sunday. Def need to book. The restaurant is light and airy. The meat was excellent. Chose roast chicken, stuffing and pigs in blankets. Hubby had roast beef also very tasty. The vegetables were fresh and such a big choice. The best roast we've had for ages. Very good value for money. Also good choice of deserts managed one between us after a large roast
Christine M — Google review
Sunday 27th April 4 of us visited to have the Sunday roast. We had pre-booked as it can get busy. It is done in a carvery style, you queue up and have a choice of up to 3 roast meats which are served up for you and then you help yourself to potatoes, vegetables, gravy etc. We all enjoyed our meals very much, everything was delicious! Staff were friendly and attentive. I'd say it was one of the nicest roast dinners I've eaten out in a very long time. Next time I go I'll have to try and leave room for pudding as those looked really good too!

Just back from a weekend (for Skabour in Folkestone) 100% totally recommend this hotel! Alison and her family were brilliant hosts they went above and beyond! the food was good the pub ambience was brilliant the beds were so comfortable I struggle with hip pain knee pain and shoulder pain but did not have any pain at all two brilliant nights sleep! The rooms were clean the shower amazing cannot fault anything about it! We’ll be back next year for sure!
Caroline T — Google review
The veggies were lovely. Meat was too red for me. Waited ages for drinks. Biggest problem was I got very upset as there was a large parrot in a cage looking very sad for himself. I was told he was allowed out of the cage occasionally but it looked like he couldn’t even spread his wings properly. If the owners don’t want him or don’t want to upset their customers why don’t they give him to a wild life centre where he could fly around with others. I won’t go again. It was too sad to watch him just sit there.

. On Sunday 23rd March for the buffet, my food was OK but my friend only eats chicken the chef put a handful of shredded chicken on her plate including stuffing , it was very fatty and with chicken skin that she doesn't eat , we complain to the waitress but had a very disappointing, response. The price is high, and was told it's going up next month. The whole expierence was very upsetting an disappointing... we will not be returning .

Just a short six-minute stroll from lush parkland and sandy beaches, this cozy retreat offers guests comfortable rooms equipped with en-suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and tea/coffee making facilities. The inviting dining area serves an impressive breakfast spread that includes both hot and cold options, along with freshly cooked eggs made to order—all at no extra cost!
Well, what can you say, Leigh and Mark make you feel so welcome from the first knock on the door. Situated in a convenient location, near to the beach, shops and harbour. Only stayed the 1 night, but rooms were spacious, breakfast was great, and the attention to detail made it a superb stay. Thanks.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay, the room was soo much more than what we expected - just fabulous! And the most amazing and welcoming hosts, if you expect a lot, you will get more!!! And Folkestone surprised us so much, it’s absolutely beautiful! It was supposed to be an overnight stay to have an easy access to the tunnel crossing but we will definitely be back 👍

Just had our third stay here, and have to say its the only place to stay if visiting. Leigh and Mike are superb. Very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Hotel rooms are large, spacious, clean with everything you could want. Breakfast is cooked to order and excellent. Its a short walk to centre of town or 15 minutes to the pier. Nice friendly bar underneath. Some nice places to eat locally. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Train station
Folkestone Central is a well-kept and peaceful train station with excellent facilities. The waiting room is adorned with a remarkable painting, and the staff members are courteous. Additionally, the station provides water bowls for dogs, making it pet-friendly. Visitors can enjoy amenities such as a cafe, ramps, lifts, and clean restrooms during their time at the station.
If you love the story of Paddingon the Bear, then try to find a sculpture of this cute character under one of the benches at the station. And I also recommend perfectly clean toilets

Clean & tidy station. Very well maintained with a good waiting room that has an impressive painting on its wall. The staff is polite and friendly. Trains are mostly regular on time. Good & fast connection for London Bridge, St Pancras and dover on high speed trains.

Bad service. I asked for a ticket to Dover on senior railcard. I could not even hear the person behind the counter who obviously wanted something though I could not understand what it was. When the card machine did not show the cost for me to use my card he came out of the ticket office and used the ticket machine to obtain a ticket. Made a sarcastic remark 'if you weren't so awkward'.
Christopher M — Google review
I purchase my tickets before I arrive...... No need to talk to anyone........ The cafe is okay and toilets are not too bad!
Mr K — Google review
8:00am and all ticket and information desks are shut, with only one ticket machine operational!!! Huge line for ticket collection!Open return to London is like 90£ and you can't even provide sufficient infrastructure to accommodate, not mentioning that the train was delayed!
Łukasz C — Google review
The ticket office is always closed for no reason. When the ticket office is finally open the larger man there is extremely rude, I get a discount because of my work and he always has comments as "lets pretend you are an employee for the next day..." I have worked for the company 4 years. One time he insisted on taking a copy of my card which had my personal details on it. I am not a happy customer. The rest of the staff are a lovely and the station is clean and tidy.

Biggest issue: only one ticket machine ! It's been modernized recently however there's almost no seating by the tracks. There is a small cafe/shop but it's really over priced compared to the convenience store down the road. Could use more seating and somewhere warm to sit in the winter months.

The guest house maintains a smoke-free environment to ensure the comfort of everyone. Start your mornings right with a delicious breakfast served on-site, setting the tone for a relaxing day ahead.
Stayed midweek for 2 nights. The host is a lovely lady who was looking out for us prior to arrival as we were somewhat lost. She was very obliging when we needed to add a booking at short notice and requested a larger room for this and also when we needed a taxi. Got a good night's sleep both nights as the road was quiet. Location is great, only about 5 minutes walk to the centre. Lovely and very satisfying full English breakfast with tea and toast. The guest house itself is very comfortable (I would suggest replacing the hard dining chairs in the rooms with more comfortable chairs, especially for elderly guests).

Tremendous. We originally booked to come down in 2020 for the Open (golf) but postponed for 12 months. The staff were fab in accommodating this. The room was very comfortable, cool, well provided for and quiet. Excellent cooked breakfast. Very handy for walking into town.

Perfect little place with friendly proprietors, great location just 3 min walk, from the train station, 5 mins to the shopping centre and the new High Street and about 10-15 min walk to the old High Street and the beach front. 5 mins to a nice local park as well. I had a single room which was actually more spacious then expected but great if you just need a place to stay. En-suite bathrooms that are small but I'd rather that than have to share. Very quiet at night and comfortable beds. Eight across from café Brew which makes great coffee and breakfasts.

Without doubt the cleanest, well executed and best quality of furnishings I've ever stayed in at this price. Probably ever. You will not get a cleaner bathroom. Strode is super helpful and accommodating. The only minor blight on things was that all 4 of us took from the description and photos that we had a communal lounge area, this was the reason we booked. It wouldn't stop us booking again and I have recommended Merchant39 to others.

Such a wonderful little boutique hotel. Perfect location - 2 mins walk from the beach and 12 mins down to the main shopping area. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. Only 5 rooms and a little kitchen which had everything you could need if you didn't want to eat out. The room was spotlessly clean, warm, very nicely decorated and the most comfortable bed I've EVER slept in! We had a very clean en-suite with fancy Scottish Soap company soaps and shampoo so that's a nice touch. The room had a little Krups coffee machine with complimentary coffee, milk and water. Would definately recommend this over a big chain hotel. If we visit Folkestone again in the future we would stay here again! Just worry noting there is stairs up to the rooms so not suitable for those with mobility issues.

Visitors can enjoy picnics or BBQs on the beach and explore the Folkestone Harbour Arm for diverse food, drinks, and entertainment options.
I absolutely adore this place! It's truly a remarkable spot. The beach is one of my favorites in Kent, with its mix of stones and sand and gentle waves. The playground, which is currently being updated, is already excellent and provides endless fun for the kids. Plus, there’s a wonderful café that the whole family enjoys, serving delicious treats and refreshments. It's the perfect destination for a day out!

A lovely path along the coast. It has a nice picnic area with a beautiful garden. It offers scenic views as the water peeks through the trees. Although, some of the steps were closed therefore you might find yourself walking a little further before you can find access to the top. We love the idea that you have options to walk right along the pebbles on the beach, or by the concrete path, or through the linear park lined with trees such as pines.

Very pretty, picturesque place to visit. Parking close to the walk was in short supply so get there early. Beach looked great, sandy part of the beach is by the play park, tide looked like it was in all day. Only reason for not giving it a five is that the play park needs some tlc. Bridge between the main towers is missing, zip lines have been removed, some of the climbing frame near the cliffs are closed off due to risk of land slide. Still a decent park but could be one of the best in Kent if restored. Plenty of toilets available and a small, walk up to the window cafe for coffee, ice creams etc. Take a picnic and spend the whole day.

Nestled in the charming coastal town of Folkestone, the Leas Bandstand is a delightful historical gem that dates back to 1889. This iconic structure, supported by elegant iron columns, serves as a vibrant hub for local music and summer events. The surrounding Zig-Zag path, crafted in 1921 by architect James Pulham from waste materials known as Pulhamite, leads visitors through enchanting man-made grottoes and rocky formations down to the Amphitheatre below.
Perfect spot for a bandstand right next the Zigzag Path. You can sit and enjoy the views around of Folkestone Beach from the top. Many duck chairs there to be used. Wish if there's a bandstand performance so I could enjoy it more.
Win T — Google review
A historic landmark, dating back to the late 19th Century when Folkestone was at its super-chic height. After falling into ruin and nearly being pulled down some years ago by an inept council, this landmark has since been restored. Once again you can hear the summer weekend brass bands I remember as a child in the 70s. It’s also a venue for other local music, and acts as a focal point for various summer events. A true local landmark.

SDB — Google review
Bouverie Place Shopping Centre is a convenient and well-located spot for getting your shopping done in the heart of Folkestone. It’s compact but has a good mix of essential stores, including high-street names like Asda, Boots, and New Look, making it a practical stop for everything from groceries to fashion and health needs. The open-air design gives it a nice, airy feel, especially on a sunny day, and there’s always a bit of buzz with people passing through. The centre is clean, easy to navigate, and well-maintained, with plenty of seating and space to relax if you’re taking a break from shopping. One of the biggest pluses is its accessibility – just a short walk from the train station and near the bus routes, with parking available nearby as well. It’s not a massive mall, but it does a great job of serving the community with the essentials and provides a reliable, no-fuss shopping experience. Great for a quick visit or to pick up everyday items without having to travel far.

Small shopping centre. It has Asda. Good location in the town centre. The car park is a joke. Terrible paying machines. Most off them are broken. You can't pay with a card on every ticket machine. Can't believed this statue of Harvey covered in bird poo. the statue is located in a small garden area that is reasonably well kept. After studying in Canterbury, Cambridge and Italy, Harvey joined the Royal College of Physicians in the earl 17th century. Later Harvey served King James I and also Charles I before his death as a royal physician.

Dedicated to the 16th/17th century physician William Harvey, The statue of this former Folkstone resident stands between Langhorne and Clifton Gardens, overlooking the sea just of The Leas Road in Folkestone Covered in bird excrement, the statue is in a small garden area that is reasonable well kept and looked generally free of litter. A brief history of William Harvey, shows he was once an eminent physician that made contributions to anatomy and physiology, along with the circulatory system for blood. After studying at Kings School (Canterbury) Cambridge and Padua (Italy) Harvey joined the Royal College of Physicians in the earl 17th century. Later Harvey served not only King James I but also Charles I before his death as a royal physician. As well as a number of society's and medical facilities named after Harvey, there is also the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

Folkestone Harbour Train Station, a historic coastal station that operated from 1849 to 2014, has been lovingly restored in recent years. Although it no longer serves trains, visitors can stroll along the tracks and platforms adorned with neon signs and sculptures. The station played a significant role in rail-sea-rail connections to mainland Europe for over a century. Today, it hosts special events like the annual Christmas market and features art installations and dining establishments while preserving its rich history.
Lovely, historical landmark that has been maintained for people to enjoy. They've made it even more special this year by adding a few Christmas reindeer. I love the train carriages turned into restaurants, I can't wait to eat there! A unique gem.
Amy G — Google review
Beautifully restored railway station which opened in 1850 and saw services until 2009. The last train to use the station was a Venice Simplon Orient Express service, and after this the station fell into disrepair. Following an extensive restoration, it reopened in 2018. The curved platforms and canopies capture the spirit of the station in its heyday, while visitor attractions have developed around the station to serve tourists. Information boards are provided, along with sculptures honouring the station's role in WW2. The signal box was repurposed as a café for a few years, and toilet facilities are available. Though trains no longer serve the station, it is one of Folkestone's more interesting sites, connecting the harbour and beach.
Andrew T — Google review
I adore what has been done with this old station - respecting its history but regenerating the area with artwork and restaurant/bars. The branch and station closed to regular passenger train services in 2001 although they were used by the Venice-Simplon Orient Express (VSOE) and railtours until 2009. During the First World War, Folkestone Harbour was one of the main ports of arrival and departure for servicemen and medical personnel. So many soldiers left from Folkestone Harbour that it became known as the ‘gateway to the trenches’. Very sad to think that for those who never returned, the train journey to this station was their last view of home. The area also now hosts a vibrant weekly Sunday market full of independent traders selling an eclectic mix of vintage, retro & artisan goods and produce. Well worth a visit!

What a delight to see the regeneration of Folkestone. The pedestrianised old train station has been wonderfully preserved leading you towards the beach!
Charlotte W — Google review
This was our first visit in a long while. Our visit was on a cold Monday morning in January, so all outlets on the harbour arm were closed. We did manage coffee and cake in the former signal box, but that cafe is now closed. It really was TOO small for a cafe!

It's great that this station is still here and preserved
Malcolm B — Google review
What a wonderful job they have done converting the old station into a lovely walkway. In the summer months I would guess it be buzzing with the local coffee shops near by

The Southcliff Hotel is a charming seaside accommodation with simple rooms, some featuring balconies and sea views. The reception staff, particularly Chloe, are described as welcoming and friendly. The hotel's old-style decor adds character to the rooms, although some guests found it a bit overwhelming. Despite this, the spacious rooms are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Guests also enjoyed the quaint residents' bar and basement bar. The hotel's convenient location allows for easy access to the beach and town center.
Beautiful stunning location right by the sea. The views and sound of the ocean waves outside our window were truly magical. The staff were so very understanding of our needs and catered kindly to them. It's a charming traditional old style Bed and Breakfast, even from a distance we were blown away by its soft white and blue exterior and how warmly lit it is by night. Clean rooms, bright happy chatty staff, it was a truely lovely stay. Highly recommend

Just went back to the hotel for four nights. The staff were very pleasant and helpful they couldn't of done anymore for us. The room we had was bigger than last time and had a bath. We also had a sea view with a small balcony facing the sea. It was clean. But if you want your room cleaned while you are there you have to let them know at check in. Tv a little small but overall a pleasant stay.

Total disaster — staff mistake, awful room, and unreachable owner. Absolutely shocking experience. The receptionist (Satish) told me to cancel my original booking and rebook a more expensive room through the Booking.com app, promising I’d be refunded for the first room. He even helped me do it. Then another staff member (Julius) came on shift, saw what happened, and said it was totally wrong — I should have just been moved to another room. He agreed it wasn’t my fault and noted everything in their handover. So basically, I ended up paying for two rooms in one night because of their own mistake. To make it worse, the second room was just as bad — it stank of smoke, people were shouting and smoking in the hallway all night, and we felt unsafe and couldn’t sleep. When I asked for help, the staff gave me the owner’s phone number — which didn’t even work. There was no follow-up, no refund, no compensation. I’ve never felt so let down by hotel staff. Avoid this place at all costs. Terrible service, poor communication, and zero accountability. One of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever had.
Saif K — Google review
The hotel had drunk , unsavoury characters outside on the verandah. The reception guy julius ,shouting at a young woman very aggressively. The inside was closed off tables and chairs were in a row a barrier blocking some kind of storage loads of rubbish and pieces of furniture showing in a shambles , nitemare noise all night at the hotel. One see for your self not impressing
Joseph S — Google review
Very, very bad hotel the rooms smell very bad of tobacco. The beds are uncomfortable broken mattresses the bathroom is tiny there is no mirror in the bathroom I absolutely do not recommend to anyone. But their a glass of beer is almost £5 they are the best at that.
Nikola K — Google review
A run down, decrepit hotel that is in dire need of an overhaul. It was undergoing renovation when I was there so maybe that is happening, but there was little sign of that on the inside! The location is excellent though and the frustrated staff were as helpful as thy could be with all the things going wrong in rooms... It was cheap, so you certainly get what you pay for.

The hotel needs renovation as it is old, but importantly for me, every room is spotlessly clean. Poor room equipment (few sockets in the room) Great service. Girls ‼️‼️ You're doing a really fantastic job 👌

Loved it here!! Lovely large room, clean and airy, amazing staff, easy parking on road outside, quiet street very pretty, 5 min walk to town, promenade and beach. OK it's not posh (reflected in price!) but it's got a real charm and quirkiness and you feel very welcome by the building and all the staff. Would 100% stay again!!!

We stayed 2 weeks ago in x2 ensuite double rooms and one family room overnight. This hotel was the cheapest in the area and if people read the information before booking they will realise that the VERY cheapest budget room says private bathroom and specifies that it is seperate (hence why we didn't book it) I have given this hotel 5 stars because although it is not a 5 star hotel it met all of our expectations in the following areas. Cleanliness - all our rooms were spotless with nice bedding and exactly like the photos - the views with seaview were lovely, the rear room was too - we were all on the 1st floor and we liked the extra personal touches - mini shampoos, conditioner and a chocolate each. Customer service - booking was easy and communication with manager prior to arrival - we called 20 minutes before arrival to ensure someone was there and a nice young man booked us in and was very helpful. Location - the hotel is easy to find and close to/within walking distance of the sea front, shops and cafe's etc. it was also only a 10 minute drive to the Euro tunnel. This hotel is perfect for a 1 night rest before travelling and amazingly has a large family room that sleeps x6 plus a baby with no extra supplement. I would recommend this hotel in a heart beat. It's not modern and sleek but it is an old large victorian house with many original features and character. Thank you for a pleasant stay!

Beautiful location Wonderful staff, a cooked breakfast would have been lovely but we were very well looked after, I would definitely recommend and will return xx
Wendy C — Google review
I recently spent 5 nights here and I enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a beautiful location, close to the sea, and the rooms were tidy and quiet. I felt very comfortable and safe there. I have no major complaints of the hotel. There were only three small issues. One was that we called to tell them we were checking in and would be there in about 15 minutes but when we got there and rang the bell, nobody came. Eventually we were let in by a handyman who randomly opened the door and didnt realize anyone was standing out there and checked us in which just seemed a bit weird to us. Everytime we went in or out of the building we never saw a single staff member. Regardless, when we did they were all really lovely. The only other small issue I have is that the breakfast is a bit disappointing as its just pastries however they do state you can have a different breakfast upon request. Similarly, the housekeeping didnt change our towels or bedding in 5 days. They just tidied and cleaned and remade the bed. However similiar to breakfast you could ask upfront. Minus these small issues the place is really lovely and peaceful.

The Wycliffe Guest House offers comfortable, clean rooms with private bathrooms and free WiFi. The guesthouse is located within walking distance of Folkestone town centre and the Leas beaches. There is also a bar and restaurant onsite, as well as a garden where guests can relax.
We had stayed at the Wycliffe guest House in June 2023 when visiting close friends who live in Folkestone. Our visit this year was, however, on a sadder occasion to see the same couple one of whom since one of them had unfortunately passed away and it was his funeral. Having enjoyed our stay last year, it seemed appropriate to book rooms again at the Wycliffe, this time in early October. We were not disappointed. Sharon and Trevor are very friendly managers of the guest house and made us feel equally welcome. The breakfasts and service provided guests with excellent choices and prompt service because we were asked to make our choices and leave them on a table by 10pm to be collected the night before. The breakfast room was a good size with several tables and had an interesting quirky and creaky ‘dumb waiter system’ which sparked a great amount of conversation! There is a slight issue with parking – space is sufficient if you arrive early although there is space close by on the main road. The location of the guest house is within walking distance to many facilities and to the sea. The whole house and bedrooms were spotlessly clean, neat and tidy and had a very hospitable atmosphere, We would highly recommend it to others!

Had a great stay for two nights at the Wycliffe Guest House. Our room was nice, clean with comfy beds and pillows. On the ground floor they have an honesty pub, lounge and dining room for breakfast, the latter you can book up until 10pm the day before. The very friendly owner and staff were sincere, kind and helpful with any queries we had. Thank you! :) Will definitely be back next time!

We stayed last night on our way to France. Lovely place, we arrived a little later than anticipated, room was nice and warm, immaculately clean. Was welcomed by a lovely lady, again, in the morning, greeted by the owner, beds were a little on the softer side to what I prefer, but would definitely visit again, great experience, thank you.

We spent a night here on our return journey from England to France. There are many kind words written in the reviews. Unfortunately, I can't necessarily agree with them. After 14 days in England, this was unfortunately the worst accommodation, but not the cheapest. The room was very very small, leaving 2 suitcases on the floor is difficult. The bathroom is tiny. The shower head is a special water-saving device... it takes about 5 minutes to get your whole body wet. Before that you have to wait 5 minutes for hot water. Bonus: stylish old English house, free private parking, everything clean, staff was friendly, 15 minute walk to town centre. I would still look for other accommodation the next time I stay in Folkestone.

We stayed here last weekend whilst visiting Folkestone for the weekend, it was perfect. Tea and biscuits in the room were lovely to come back to after a long day walking up on the cliffs, and the full English breakfast in the morning was delicious! Will definitely be visiting again next time we're in Folkestone.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Wycliffe Guest House in Folkestone. The building and rooms are very charming, relaxing, and clean. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and healthy. Our room looked out over a lovely field and the Holy Trinity Church. The Guest House is located a short walk from the seaside and from several very good restaurants. The seaside itself was lovely as well, and we enjoyed swimming and sunbathing. We'd recommend a stay at the Wycliffe to anyone!

This was the first time we had stayed at the Wycliffe Guest House and we were not disappointed. The location is ideal for visiting the area or for a one night stopover. There is private off road parking and the Guest House is located in a very quiet area, very close to the sea front and within easy walking distance from at least two pubs for an evening meal. The hotel is very clean and the rooms comfortable. We were warmly welcomed along with our dog. The choice and quality of breakfast in the morning was excellent. We will be returning next year for a stay on our way to France as it is so convenient for the Shuttle terminal. Thank you, Sharon for your hospitality.

Absolut stunning location, spacious room .... Loved the walks through the cliffs. But unfortunately cleanliness isn't the hotels priority. Mattresses are so old that you nearly can't sleep on them. Pub just opened in the evening for a few hours and while the day literally no service for hotel guests. Anyway I will come back as the location is so unique and the owners are very kind that you can enjoy your stay under any circumstances.

Stayed here in May and cooked breakfast was supplied. Room rates now only provide you with a continental breakfast. However the rooms were spotlessly clean even if they could do with some updating. I loved the soft bed but my partner did not so much. Service with a smile and great value for money. Despite some of my negative points I would definitely stay here again. I've stayed here a few times now. A base for a night out in Folkestone before getting the chunnel to Europe the following day. Love Folkestone , the old town. And finally the local council seem to be getting more funding. The old station and railway is cool, with lots of bars etc. The Hotel is exactly what you'd expect. Old fashioned. Has that old time feeling. I have to book a hotel with secure parking. And at the rea is a small enclosed parking area. Its not secure, but out the way. The owner always promises me its safe.
Nigel C — Google review
The receptionist didn't consider that two men might be a couple, made us all feel very awkward. Then he argued for 10 minutes about the booking website, saying he didn't get paid. We had paid in full, I don't know if he was just complaining or trying to get more money, either way it wasn't our problem. The rooms were dirt cheap and looked it. Not updated in decades, people yelling in the corridors keeping us awake all night. I would never go back.
Adam M — Google review
The location is amazing and staff were friendly, however the room was a great disappointment. The bunk bed made a very loud squeaky noise every time our daughter made the smallest move so we did not sleep throughout the night. Balcony door was bolted shut so we could not open it even a little bit to get some fresh air. The room was not clean especially around the balcony door and on the side of the bed, some of the areas have not been cleaned in a long time so it wasn't just a one off error in the last cleaning of the room. Around 8am door banging has started just outside of the room and continued throughout the night. It was very expensive for what was on offer, but to be honest would not stay again in the room free of charge.

It's near to the Harbour arm and other pubs and supermarkets , which is quite good. Pics of the room that we stayed in and of the vicinity are attached for reference.

I didn’t make it as far as my stay because the hotel manager, Josie, contact me to say that they have double booked and that I should cancel my booking. She was incredibly rude and made no effort to solve the issue until I said that I would complain. She then offered us a sea view room (something that the original booking had anyway). When I questioned why she hadn’t just done this in the first place instead of telling me I had to cancel, she then withdrew the offer and claimed that that room was also now gone.
Rick H — Google review
Great location, beautiful sea view. And that's all from pros. £80 rip-off for stinking something called "room". Heavy smell of damp everywhere. Quirky lift. Cold night - no heating. Shower door broken. Tinny toilet door damaged. Squeaky floor. I was looking for tribal mural painting, because furniture are from Iron Age. No parking place. Breakfast not available. And the most important: almost missed ferry because couldn't wake up staff!!! Hotel doors were locked and we couldn't get outside!!! OK, it was owner's dog in reception, but not very helpful. Recommended for desperate customers only!

I had booked a late check in (between 00:00 and 01:00) just after midnight on Saturday. I arrived before check in opened (14:00), about 12:30, and spoke to the owner. I asked about early check in - they confirmed my details, checked the room, and advised it was still being prepared so would be a late check in as planned. I visited my friends room on the top floor (they checked in the day before) - it was dirty, cracked plaster, radiators hanging off the wall...not a great start - but it was what I'd booked. So ran with it. I went off to the wedding, and then received a voicemail at 21:08 advising that my room was no longer available. What?!? No offer to find something else. No help. No room. My mate told me the overheard the staff saying the day before "someone's sleeping on the street tonight, we've overbooked again!" Absolutely disgraceful, and no remorse.

Zig Zag Path is a picturesque walkway that leads from The Leas Cliff to Mermaid Beach in Folkestone. This path features secret grottos, seats carved into the rock face, and blue and white pottery shards embedded in the Pulhamite, a cement made from waste material. Built in the 1920s by unemployed men, it offers stunning views of caves and rock formations along with beautiful trees. Visitors can enjoy resting spots while taking in the breathtaking scenery.
Such an interesting point to enjoy walk down to the beach specifically for kids. It stretched over an area approximately 160 feet high and just as wide. It provides you a platform for very scenic views while going down. After the First WWI, many soldiers returned from the battlefield and faced unemployment in Great Britain. British government attempted to deal with this problem was to develop a number of public work schemes across the country and one of them was construction of the Zigzag Path in the leas area. It began in 1921 and mobilized hundreds of local war veterans to build a new ornamental feature in the Lower Leas Coastal Park.

A Refreshingly Different Experience at Zig Zag Path, Folkestone This was one of my more unique experiences. While there isn’t much in terms of attractions or activities, the walk itself — through the zig-zag path — offers a new dimensional view that makes it quite special. The design of the path is a beautiful piece of functional art, filled with informative plaques and thoughtful architecture that blends into nature. The real highlight is the view from the top — it’s peaceful and scenic, especially for those who enjoy slow, mindful walks. It's a great spot if you're looking for something quiet and offbeat to explore in Folkestone.

Gorgeous walking path down to the shoreline. It felt like walking through a botanical garden with all the different plants and flowers around. There is a coffee stand at the bottom, as well as public toilets. There are also benches carved into the rocks along the way which you can stop and rest on.

The Zig Zag walk in Folkestone is a fantastic scenic walk placed between the Leas Cliff Hall and the Band Stand. It offers wonderful coastal views and consists of different paths with caves and grottoes leading down to the seafront and the Lower Leas Coastal Park. Originally built in the 1800s to ferry bath chairs between The Leas and the beach, The Zig Zag path has been restored beyond its original beauty as part of the Award Winning Coastal Park Development.

I love this path! It offers great scenic views of the mermaid beach as well as being very green with plenty of plants and trees. The man-made grottos and archways add interest and provide some seating and shade when it's hot. It's a steady climb and might be a bit challenging for those not used to walking uphill, especially in the heat, but going down is lovely!

Loved it here great little walk from the seafront to the roads above both interesting and a fun walk. Added bonus was a street fair at the top. Worth a visit.

Guest house
Lennard House is a newly refurbished vacation home located in Folkestone, offering a convenient stay within walking distance to Sunny Sands beach and the town's attractions. The house provides well-equipped communal areas for cooking and laundry, making it suitable for transitions and contract workers. Guests can enjoy spacious en-suite rooms with basic but good facilities, including a lovely shower room, microwave, toaster, kettle, and fridge.
My children and I were the first guests to stay at the newly refurbished Lennard House and we really enjoyed our stay. The owners have worked very hard to raise the standard of the hotel and the results were great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and the spacious en suite was great. The location is fantastic too, close enough to the town and harbour yet quiet at night when you want to sleep. When in Folkestone I will only stay here now.

I arrived in Folkestone 2 months ago and Dino and Thelma and my housemates really went out of their way to make me feel settled. 5 minute walk to Sunny Sands beach ⛱️ and parking for a car I hardly use because everything is in walking distance. Such a lovely concept. I have an ensuite, fridge, freezer microwave, and then do my laundry and cooking in the well equipped general areas. It's perfect for transitions and contract workers.
Penelope C — Google review
Great location, very close to the harbor, food shops and pubs. Also, very easy access to Dover and Channel Crossing for a day trip to France or Belgium. Parking is also ample. Would recommend 100% and I will definitely be visiting again.

This place isn't a hotel, it's a hostel at the most. No check in desk, no staff to be seen. I was shown to my room by a tennet who rents a room at the address. The room was absolutely filthy, I do hate to say it but I have to be honest. I literally couldn't get the smell of garlic out of my clothes and had to throw them away. I had to use most of my clothes to make a make shift bed as the bedding stunk and hadn't obviously been changed. They don't deserve any star, the audacity of this make shift hotel to charge me 100 pounds a night is disgusting. STAY AWAY.

Excellent location, very friendly staff. Clean and nice basic rooms. Large kitchen available (however COVID-19 measures at place now). Quite thin walls, sounds travel easily.
Ruth S — Google review
Basic but good facilities. Lovely shower room. Microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. Table, chairs. Coffee, tea, milk, sugar and biscuits provided. Friendly and helpful staff.
Beverley E — Google review
An extremely disappointing stay - offers the absolute bare minimum. Basically an extremely expensive hostel. Communal areas are not clean at all and no staff was present for the 3 days that we were there.
Alex L — Google review
Perfect setting near the harbour, walk into town, super markets all nearby. I lived here for 8 months. Friendly staff . Thelma & Dino. Peace and quiet .
