Folkestone Harbour Arm is a vibrant destination offering a mix of food stands, bars, live music stages, and seasonal events. It is located opposite a pebble beach and beach boardwalk, leading to an eclectic range of small shacks serving cuisine from around the globe. Nearby, there's an outdoor cinema showcasing classic films and sports coverage throughout the year. The renowned Rocksalt Restaurant offers panoramic views over the English Channel.
Folkestone Harbour Arm is such a wonderful place! It has a very cosy and welcoming atmosphere, making it perfect for a relaxing day out with family. There are plenty of things to see and do – from beautiful views of the sea to lovely cafes and little shops to explore. We really enjoyed walking along the pier, soaking up the fresh air and peaceful vibe. It feels so charming and full of life at the same time. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Folkestone – it’s ideal for families and for anyone who loves spending time by the sea.

The Folkestone Harbour along with the Lighthouse is an iconic attraction for anyone visiting Folkestone. The place has a long history dating back in the 1900s. The photos along with the valuable information speaks a lot. The Harbour area was quite windy when we visited yesterday but Sun came out later and calmed the environment. There is an entertaining promenade with live music and food cafes along with good seating arrangements. A place worthy to visit in summer.
Khandker Q — Google review
What an amazing place to spend a few hours (or maybe a full day). Absolutely loved what had been done with a disused railway station. There are some great bars eateries, offering exceptional views across the English Channel.
Aluap B — Google review
The harbour arm has been 'done up' and is very nice. There are lots of independent small market shops and places where you can eat and drink, a bit like Christmas Market huts. There is a big outdoor TV screen fir watching sports etc. Not sure whether all this is seasonal abd just maybe weekends out of season? But there are other places such as the very nice bar by the lighthouse, and a small brewery pub that I should imagine stays open more regularly. There is also a few fair rides. The views of folkestone are lovely from here too.
Marianne — Google review
Enjoyed a lovely walk from Lower Leas car park along the promenade & boardwalk to the harbour arm. Here we stopped at the Champagne bar in the old lighthouse. Well worth a visit, nice cocktails and yummy charcuterie.
Julie H — Google review
I adore Folkestone Harbour. The views are absolutely stunning, if you're visiting Folkestone, you simply cannot miss the Harbour Arm. Plenty of independent traders offering a great range of foods and drinks, there's truly something for everyone. Lots of different events and entertainment on throughout the year... I could go on and on!

Great place for a day out. Try the Ship Inn at the Stade, great food reasonable priced. Usually bands playing on the Harbour arm and lots of food and drink outlets during the summer months
Lesley G — Google review
Popped by early morning on 1st May, cracking weather and can't beat the views on a day like this. Great breakfast at Hulas on the beach side (bacon and egg roll, decaf cappuccino but no pictures as wolfed it down!). Good walk to stretch the legs after a quick swim at Mermaid Beach.

Leas Cliff Hall is a historic theatre located in Folkestone, Kent, offering stunning views of the English Channel. Originally built as a concert hall in 1927, it has since become a popular venue for various events including concerts and comedy shows. The theatre is adjacent to the Clifton Hotel and features two distinct event spaces. It also serves as an oceanfront wedding venue, providing a picturesque setting for couples to celebrate their special day with breathtaking ocean views.
A nice small venue for a concert. 1500 people. Lovely atmosphere. Staff where top notch. Shame areas outside of the main entrance or concert hall where not in the best shape. Save our smaller venues!
Phil H — Google review
A nice venue for all sorts of events. Accessible for wheelchair users. Friendly, helpful, and professional staff. The bar prices are quite high, but as expected. How Margate Winter Gardens should have been if it wasn't run to ruin by Thanet District Council!

Best Abba tribute i have seen. Excellent performers and musicians who made sure the audience had a great evening. Venue was clean and staff friendly and helpful.
Jackie H — Google review
Beautiful place with great interior, exterior and surroundings. The seats weren't the most comfortable but the staff was very friendly and helpful (except for an elderly man who was quite condescending and made me feel uncomfortable), especially the security guard.
김채은 — Google review
Venue is really fun, staff are always polite and nice and helpful in every event. Really reccomend using the online parking form after the event if possible as the machines are quite slow to work.
Jack N — Google review
First time visit....have another booked end of year...wish I hadn't. The show was OK....the music was so loud you couldn't hear the singers. All chairs are level so when people in front stand up...you see nothing. The event was such a disappointment, not made any easier when paying top rate prices. There are better locations in the area, but I thought I would give it a go....An expensive mistake and a lesson learnt....stick to where you know!! On a brighter note....there are plenty of bars but not many toilets.
CHRIS H — Google review
We went to see Alan Davies and have never been here before. Staff were super friendly, nothing was too much trouble, location was clean and everything very clearly laid out. Prices were more than reasonable and everything ran smoothly. Parking was clearly marked out and its a short walk to the location. If I had to fault anything is coming out was a bit chaotic but that's because everyone left at the same time and it was a bit squashed, however there is nothing they can do about that! We will 100% be back and so grateful we had such an amazing evening ❤️

Elo experience were amazing, ice cream obscenely priced at £4.50 each for a small tub and drinks expensive to. Venue fair but would have appreciated comfier chairs and leg room.

Restaurant
Nestled near Folkestone's Old High Street, the Folkestone Wine Company is a gem that has earned its place among the 2023 Good Food Guide Best Local Restaurants. This family-run establishment, led by chef David Hart with experience from top restaurants like The Sportsman, takes inspiration from European travels and proudly showcases Kent's fresh ingredients. With a tiny space of just 24 seats, the restaurant offers a select menu of perfectly prepared options, creating an intimate and special dining experience.
Fantastic food and wonderful service from a great team! Had read the excellent reviews online and was excited to eat here and it didn't disappoint! From the moment we entered our waitress was over with a warming reception of the drinks on offer and reccomendend the wines by the glass (the red rjoca was great!) And continued her lovely demeanor throughout evening and even gave us her reccomendendations for around folkestone. On top of this the food was all amazing and such high quality all presented with serious skill! The eels and beetroot salad were a surprising winner and such fresher than anything we have had before. We also had the olives, bread, croquettes, seabass and profiteroles to finish and enjoyed them all. The food was also very good value for the quality and service. Would have a must dine for anyone and particularly foodies visiting folkestone

Cozy environment that makes you feel like a friend has just invited you over for dinner. Fabulous menu that’s simple yet refined. The ladies at the front were a great laugh and made fabulous recommendations. If you’re in Folkestone this should definitely be your first choice for a meal.
Jon D — Google review
Amazing. It's a bit like being invited round to a top chef's house for dinner. Small, homely atmosphere and you're greeted like old friends. Very limited menu of two things per course so only go if you're not picky, in sense that you eat a limited number of things. But do go if you're picky in the sense that you know really good food when you taste it. The food was incredible. Every single item of food was so elevated, it's hard to explain. The best example I can offer is that I've never had a tomato that tasted so tomatey. If that makes no sense, I can't help you. The wine was great, we tried the fizz and the picpoul and both were spot on. And then there was the creme brule. The absolute highlight.
Jo W — Google review
Went with partner last night. Very well-cooked food, presented nicely with generous portions. This is proper cooking by chefs who know what they're doing. A nice atmosphere and lovely front-of-house serving rounds it off. You pay for what you get, but even so it's fair value for money. The other restaurant I know in Folkestone is Rocksalt - that's a good place, with good food, but even so I think Folkestone wine is a cut above, based on last night's experience.
Michael S — Google review
Food was excellent, lovely restaurant and very cosy, but the service felt rushed. The FOA seemed stressed and it rubbed off on us from the get go. The service matters just as much as the food when you’re paying this money for a meal and we felt like a nuisance. Later my partner had to get up and ask for our bread so we could eat it with our starter. This place do a lot of things right so it was a bit disappointing. We enjoyed our meal anyway
Ciara S — Google review
Wow... What a treat. One of the best meals I've had, and we eat out a lot at very nice restaurants. Food was impeccable and beyond delicious. The vibe and service was also excellent and the wine choices fantastic 👌

Had a wonderful meal at the Folkestone Wine Company on Friday evening. It's a lovely little place with friendly service! It's a small menu of locally sourced food which was so fresh and tasty. The wine was amazing too. Would definitely recommend 👌

A gorgeous old church hidden and often overlooked in the heart of Folkestone. The building is beautiful with some stunning glass windows. Also it has a very interesting history.

A pretty church on the edge of the town center. The staff are friendly and are happy to tell you all about the church's history. They have regular concerts there, often with an excellent choir.
Julian F — Google review
Beautiful church, so quiet and peaceful. I was allowed to just exist in a chapel on my own while a few people were attending a service on the other side. I really appreciated them understanding my need to be alone in a safe space.
Neen S — Google review
Although I haven't visited this church for years, it was a VERY special place to seek some tranquillity in the chaos of modern Folkestone. I lived in The Metropole, on The Lee's, for almost 32 months...and regularly sought out this church for quiet contemplation. Wonderful sense of history and you will feel that you are in a precious and beautiful place. The attached picture belongs to another poster. Hellie Reumkens. I have changed the orientation to the correct perspective and have informed Google Maps about Hellie's photographic problem. Quite why it wasn't corrected before is a puzzle?

Basque restaurant
Located at the base of the steep Old High Street, Pick Up Pintxos is a culinary venture by Gianni Modena, who hails from Gravesend. The restaurant specializes in Basque cuisine, with a focus on dishes cooked using an asador, a traditional wood and charcoal grill.
A great selection of foods, specifically offered in the tasting menu on a Sunday. A nice selection of wine too. The waitress and waiters were very attentive and friendly. Highly recommended.
Matt T — Google review
As other people said... Yes, the wait was a little long, but by far the most delicious and fresh food you can get in town, and that's why it takes time. You want food at a different level, you wait to be cooked by people who know. As a Latin person who lived in Spain 4 years this outstands in the old high street. The duck with celeriac and ham was from another world. The priorat wine was perfect too. And it's been years since I have a cheesecake so flavourful. I have a new favourite place in Folkestone. And... 🐕 Friendly too... All day
Darío G — Google review
The food was delicious but the portions are very small vs price and the waiting time for plates is EXTREMELY long. We were waiting at least 1 hour for the main plate. The restaurant was also empty so there isn’t much of an excuse there. If you are keen to wait at least 1 hour for food then you can happily come here.
Catalina V — Google review
Went to Pintxos by chance as it was near to the hotel we stayed at the harbour in Folkestone. Very busy restaurant and booking is recommended. It's Basque dishes and the food was delicious. Would definitely eat there again.

Went there for dinner. Food is amazing, different level. Outstanding food and service. Our host was amazing and welcoming. We were explained everything from the beginning and we were more than happy to wait since we had a great bottle of wine. Again, great recommendations for wines as well. Our host was extremely knowledgeable. You don’t see this very often these days. Thank you for an amazing evening and definitely will be back.

Hamburger restaurant
Located in the Rendezvous Street area, Lucky Chip is a recent addition to the vibrant food scene. The burger bar, owned by Ben Denner, offers a playful ambiance with Victorian taxidermy and stylish interior decor. Known for its legendary El Chappo and Gus Fring chicken burgers, Lucky Chip is a must-visit for burger enthusiasts. Additionally, visitors can explore nearby establishments such as The Radnor Arms for creative cocktails and The Bouverie Tap for an excellent beer selection.
Great burger... But the star of the menu is definitely the loaded brisket fries with wasabi mayo, incredibly good. Something you'll crave. The lucky chip beer was pretty good too. Service is also good. No complaints whatsoever. 5 stars!
Matteo B — Google review
The food is amazing! The best burger I've had in a long time, and don't get me started on the green sauce. NO idea what's in it, but it tastes incredible!! 🔥 The chicken was cooked perfectly, the fries were so tasty, and the philly cheesesteak was made to perfection. Staff are very friendly and willing to have a chat with you. We asked about where they get their ingredients from, and they were very happy to tell us. £80 for 2 of us, including 2 drinks of whiskey and lots of amazing food, as you can see in the picture. I never heard of this place before today, but I will be returning very soon!!
James L — Google review
Great beers...... Great food........ Great staff! Had this cheeky sour yesterday 30/9/23 and very nice indeed! Still some of the best beers in Folkestone! And their Vault City range has always been great as seen in my added picture!
Mr K — Google review
I'll start with an big positive, the green sauce cheesy fries are absolutely amazing, really good. However, the burgers we had were very mediocre, incredibly soft, all the same texture, desperately needed some sort of crunch or even a toasted bun would help. The beer I had was nice and my partner enjoyed her cider, the staff were very chatty and the food arrived quick. The toilets were a bit grotty with loo roll and paper sheets all over the floor and the bin was overflowing. We will return to give lucky chip another go.
Tammy T — Google review
We'd seen the reviews and thought we'd better give this a try and boy, are we glad we did, as friendly staff and delicious food make for the perfect restaurant experience! We ordered burgers, fries, tater tots and drinks. Gotta say, tater tots are new to us and these were so morish. So whatever you order, grab a side of these, you will be so glad you did. As for the burgers, so tasty, well cooked deep flavours and piping hot till the last mouthful. These are right up there with the best burgers we've had! Will we go again, most certainly!
John B — Google review
I absolutely love Lucky Chip when I was in London but after moving to Folkestone this branch doesn’t live upto the hype. The buns are mostly stale when I have eaten and they never open up ontime. It’s Sunday and trading hours are open from noon but they decided to open later today. I would go to the burger van up the road for a better and more consistent experience
Eli N — Google review
Best. Burger. Ever!!!! I have had many a burger in my life but this, oh my this burger was amazing. I had the Royale Wit Cheese. Sooo tasty. It wasn't stodgy like other burgers I've had. They are served a bit pink in the middle (and they tell you that upfront). I had mine fully done but my boyfriend had his as is and loved it. The fries are crispy and moreish. We had one basket between us and that was enough. We then had Cherry pie for afters. That was extremely tasty too. The staff are very friendly and the service was quick. The music wasn't to my taste but I remember seeing a board outside during the daytime telling you what genre is which night. It is a good job we don't live round here or I would end up the size of a house! Highly recommend! EDIT: One year later. Boyfriend brought me all the way here from Leicestershire so I could go here again 😊 still the best burger ever. (And I've tried quite a few in the last year!) EDIT: Another year later...STILL wonderful!!!!!! Nov 23 EDIT: Changed my burger to a different one (named after an actress, I forget who!) and it was even nicer than my regular!!! May 24 EDIT: New chef but still the best burger ever! Ooh and the cherry pie was yummy with an awesome Chantilly cream 😊
Donna H — Google review
I went there with some work colleagues had a nice time. The food is really good and we went there on Wednesday which meant we could take advantage of the £5 cocktails. The burger was one of the best I've had and I would like to try thier Sunday roast. It would be a 5 star review if only you could hear what others were saying as the music was quite loud.

Went in to have our wedding blessed. I found the pastor to be a little bit reserved and questioning whether we are Christians and which church we attended, the church is on our doorstep and a lovely location. But due to lack of follow up call and being made to question our religious beliefs, we have decided with saddened heart not to renew our wedding vowels , this has left us numb and questioning the whole system 😥

Castle
Nestled along the picturesque coastline, Sandgate Castle is a remarkable historical gem that dates back to 1539. Originally constructed using stones from the dismantled Priory, this fortress was part of Henry VIII's initiative to bolster coastal defenses against potential French invasions. As one of the Device Forts, it showcases impressive artillery fortifications and even features a Napoleonic martello tower added later on.
Unfortunately you can only see the outside, you can not get inside, looks beautiful, curious to visit the inside.

Not open to the public so you can only walk past to look at it. An old battery fort built during Henry VIII's reign and a couple of later monarchs stayed here/rested for a while. Whoever owns it clearly looks after it as it's very picturesque. I would like to see what its like inside but that's a privilege for those who are close to the owners I suppose.

I kissed a really fit girl outside the castle. It was fantastic. One of the great kisses. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended.

We had an enjoyable walk along the seafront to Sandgate Castle. It was very early in the morning so we were unable to go inside. It was very interesting to see the Martello Tower number 5 which is surrounded by the old castle walls. The views are amazing and there is so much history attached to this building.

Comfy room, nice walk to seaside, but better ride by car to seaside, two hours walk on the Cliffs Coast will be enough

Very interesting to see Sandgate Castle from the sea path. One of the Device Forts, artillery fortifications built to defend the coast of England and Wales by Henry VIII. A Napoleonic martello tower added later. It is a private home but the owners must love the history as they have replica cannons on specific places and the date is clearly marked 1539. Amazing.

We attended a funeral here. The place is beautiful, traditional. The stained glass and the building are gorgeous. There's a lovely courtyard that will be even more beautiful when spring flowers start blossoming. But even midwinter, the hedges and trees made it a calm, soul-restorative place.

SKCC – A Place of Love, Support, and Spiritual Growth As a new Christian, my experience at South Kent Community Church (SKCC) in Folkestone has been truly life-changing. Led by Pastor James Combes and with Vincent Oliver as an elder, this church provides a warm, welcoming, and spiritually enriching environment. One of the most significant moments of my faith journey happened here—I was baptized at SKCC, a deeply meaningful experience that strengthened my relationship with Christ. The support and prayers from the church members made this moment even more special. From the very beginning, I was met with unparalleled kindness and care from the congregation. They not only helped me grow in my faith but also provided practical support in my daily life. They arranged transportation for me, invited me to their homes for Bible study and fellowship, and even gave me a New Year’s gift —demonstrating how much they care for their community. The atmosphere of worship and church services is deeply spiritual yet modern, creating an environment where people from all backgrounds can connect with God and with one another. I am deeply grateful to the amazing people I met at SKCC, including Vincent and his wife Julie, Peter and his wife Cynthia, Kehinde and his wife Toyin, Paul, Lesley and his wife Peter, and Tom, who joined our house church meetings online from Rwanda and always prayed for me. Their encouragement, prayers, and kindness have had a profound impact on my journey of faith. If you are looking for a church where you will feel like family, grow in your faith, and be surrounded by God’s love, I highly recommend SKCC. Farshid

Redeemer Church Folkestone is a vibrant community that welcomes individuals from all walks of life. Nestled in the charming coastal town of Folkestone, this church emphasizes connection and fellowship among its members. With engaging services and various activities, Redeemer Church fosters spiritual growth while encouraging meaningful relationships. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it an ideal place for both newcomers and long-time attendees to explore their faith together.
I have found this church to faithfully teach the bible chapter by chapter. Their pastor Jonny is welcoming as is the congregation. Being a small church they are unable to have a worship group but have found an initiative way of being able wo worship with Ising software. Childrens ministry's has proper age related teaching in rooms dedicated to their learning. They also have a Crete for pre-school children and babies, with an audio feed so parents can listen to the sermon of the day. The church is welcoming and the congregation is dedicated to God and making the church as family friendly as possible. Coffee is good as well

Located in Folkestone, the Holy Trinity Church is a Grade II* listed Gothic Victorian building with an impressive octagonal tower. The church is known for its fine acoustics and hosts high-quality concerts by Kent orchestras. Visitors can also enjoy Monday Music classes, which provide a great opportunity to interact with locals and practice spoken English in a friendly environment. Additionally, the church offers various items for sale such as jams, cards, and books.
Fan of historical heritage of Europe (and other continents), and it's countries with England in particular. I spotted the church, for the first time when attending musical exams. Have been too young to appreciate the beauty of it then, after a couple of years upon return visits I noted the beauty of the architecture, and of the service held outside musical events. Superior structure of the octagonal dome, with the gothic motives of middle ages, mixed along late Victorian tendencies - makes the building stand the glory of one in its kind, and stylistic scope drawn upon comparison with all the rest of the British islands!
Viktori1 C — Google review
Beautiful church built in the western Folkestone at the time it was the playground for the British aristocracy, including King Edward VII. The church inner style and decoration reflect this association: it is much more elegant than could be expected from a small fishermen town such that Folkestone used to be. The church is popular for weddings and concerts (its restored organ in one of the best in the Southeast England). And it has a lovely community of regular congregation who participate in choir, hold art fairs and always share tea and cake after Sunday morning service.
Inessa C — Google review
Absolutely stunning building. We went to the folkestone symphony concert, which was absolutely amazing. The way the sound fills the church takes your breath away. Singing christmas carols accompanied by a choir of children and the orchestra with mulled wine and mince pies has definitely put me in the christmas spirit.
Moondust S — Google review
On my first visit to Folkestone, I looked for a suitable B&B. I managed to find one near a local church and thought, this is ideal, as I wont have far to walk to worship. I have since discovered that the Holy Trinity Church Folkestone is a Grade II* listed Church. It is a vast Gothic Victorian building with an unusual octagonal tower. I suppose that it was this tower that made it so striking, and was what initially caught my eye. Nevertheless I had the joy of worshipping there the first Sunday that I was in town. I was warmly greeted and welcomed by the vicar and immediately introduced to fellow congregants who made me feel at home. I can highly recommend the church for anyone wanting to engage with the community, develop new friendships and draw closer to our Lord and find an answer to the universal question of where to find eternal security.
Charles F — Google review
In this church I love Monday Music  classes, which are not only rhythmic and singing exercises, but also a great opportunity to communicate with local residents, not to be afraid to speak English, to practice spoken English with people who are very friendly. At first it was difficult to learn the lyrics of songs unfamiliar to me, but thanks to Grenville , every lesson takes me one step further, it’s hard to assess how tremendous the classes on Mondays are for me! I hope we can be able to have the opportunity to meet at The Holy Trinity Church every Monday again and again!
Marina V — Google review
Holy Trinity Church is a lovely building and I liked the stained glass windows. I found the atmosphere very calming. You are assured of a warm welcome and you are able to visit for prayers in the mornings and afternoons. There is a choir and they lead the services. The church is a popular place for weddings and other events. There is a hospitality area in the back of the church which serves as a community centre. There is a wheelchair accessible entrance.

I am not completely comfortable about church reviews as I do not practise any religion. I visit churches as a tourist, mainly to read plaques and gravestones. In this case however, as a frequent visitor to Folkestone, I visit to see concerts. The church has fine acoustics and often has high quality concerts by Kent orchestras. It is a fine traditional CofE 1866 high spired building with a magnificent organ. The church helpers also sell jams, cards and books. I rarely come away empty handed.

Visitors will find an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, making it an ideal spot for both locals and travelers seeking solace on their spiritual journey. An inclusive, pleasant Anglican Church with a variety of worship but true to the tradition. An engaging and thoughtful, inclusive parish priest . A good church to attend if local or a visitor to the area or just need a 'safe space' for a time on one's spiritual journey.

The serene environment is perfect for enjoying the picturesque views adorned with blossoms and butterflies. With wheelchair access available, everyone can appreciate this lovely church's peaceful ambiance.
St. Peter's Church is steeped in history and it is beautiful. The brickwork is fantastic and the renovation work is amazing. I received a warm welcome today and the atmosphere was great. The views are stunning and there were so many blossoms to admire and butterflies. Just to say there is wheelchair access. I really enjoyed the organ recital. I took part in their Summer Fayre and had a wonderful time. (Had an unexpected visit from a ladybird) The children certainly enjoyed the painting session, throwing the wet sponge at the Church Warden ( great person) and the Bouncy Castle.

Beautiful Mariner's church overlooking Folkestone harbour. Don't be put off by the Anglo-Catholic "bells and smells" - the people are not at all stuffy but friendly and down to earth. Worth a visit to savour the calm and serene atmosphere.
