Art gallery
Art museum
Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is located in a historic Victorian building that has been a prominent feature of the city since 1885. The museum boasts an extensive collection, including the renowned Pre-Raphaelite collection with over 2,000 remarkable pieces such as oil paintings, tapestries, stained glass, and ceramics by celebrated artists like Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris. Additionally, visitors can explore artifacts like the Staffordshire hoard.
Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is truly a gem in the heart of the city. The building itself is stunning, blending history and architecture beautifully. Inside, the galleries are well-curated with a wonderful variety of exhibitions, from classical art to fascinating historical collections. Everything is laid out thoughtfully, making it easy to explore and enjoy at your own pace. The atmosphere is calm and inspiring, perfect for spending a few hours appreciating culture and history. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, always ready to guide or answer questions, which really adds to the overall experience. The museum is also very well maintained, with clean facilities and comfortable spaces to sit and take it all in. What I loved most was how the museum offers something for everyone – whether you’re interested in art, history, or just looking for a peaceful and enriching day out. It’s a place that makes you appreciate the heritage of Birmingham while also connecting you with global culture. A must-visit for anyone in the city!

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is truly a treasure in the heart of the city. The building itself is breathtaking, perfectly combining history with architectural beauty. Inside, the galleries are thoughtfully arranged, showcasing a rich mix of exhibitions—from timeless classical art to captivating historical displays. Everything is organised in a way that makes wandering through the museum both easy and enjoyable. The atmosphere is peaceful and inspiring, ideal for spending a few hours surrounded by culture and history. The staff are warm, approachable, and knowledgeable, always ready to help or share insights, which really enhances the visit. The museum is also kept in excellent condition, with spotless facilities and plenty of comfortable spots to pause and reflect. What stood out most was how the museum truly has something for everyone—whether your interest lies in art, history, or simply enjoying a relaxing, enriching day out. It’s a place that deepens your appreciation of Birmingham’s heritage while also connecting you with cultures from around the

The building is really mislabeled. There’s one room with Art which may have 20 canvases. One of them is quite a nice place but otherwise if you’re coming for Art, you’re not going to find anything that you want. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a museum with a great coverage of the history of Birmingham, the top floor of the building has a very excellent series of exhibits on this topic. That’s not why I came here, but I did enjoy it quite a lot. If you have kids, there’s a dinosaur exhibit on the lower floor. I think it’s 9 pounds for adults and free for kids. Otherwise, the museum is free. There’s a nice coffee shop.
Lon W — Google review
The museum was outstanding. Very clean, staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, and very considerate when providing assistance, especially to those with additional support needs. There's portable chairs behind the doors, a great personal touch when you're spending a few hours in there. I visited from Manchester to see the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition, the Made In Birmingham exhibition, and paid in to see Giants whilst I was there. Highly recommend and will be returning in the future. Gift shop was great, with lots of different quirky items connected to the exhibitions.
Hayley J — Google review
really great place, went for the ozzy osbourne stuff but i was pleasantly surprised by the rest of the displays. I like how everything in the museum is relevant to Birmingham or England. I felt like i got to learn tge place’s history. Everything was really informative, interactiv, and the whole experience was beautiful.

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is a true gem in the city! The museum offers a wonderful mix of art, history, and culture, with something to interest everyone. The galleries are beautifully curated, featuring impressive fine art collections, fascinating local history exhibits, and world-class pieces like the Pre-Raphaelite paintings. The building itself is magnificent, with stunning architecture that adds to the experience. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to share insights or help guide you through the exhibits. It’s a great place to spend a few hours learning, relaxing, and being inspired — a must-visit destination for anyone coming to Birmingham.
Michael K — Google review
Great exhibitions. Highly recommend the Giants exhibition. Makes you reflect on how small humans are compared to these massive creatures. Lots of stairs, lifts, and seats, so very accessible. I love the 'The Elephant In The Room'. I wished it was a larger exhibition. Go as soon as it opens on the weekend. It gets very crowded. It's always best when you appreciate art when you have an unobstructed view of the piece.

Library
Library of Birmingham is a modern, 31,000-square-meter building located in the heart of the city. Opened in 2013, it stands out with its unique exterior resembling a wedding cake. The library features 10 floors connected by elevators and escalators. At the top, visitors can explore The Shakespeare Memorial room, a historic wood-paneled space from the old library that is now available for events like weddings.
An excellent and stylish city library, a must see when visiting Birmingham. Lovely top side outdoor seating with great views and garden islands. Well maintained throughout. Lovely atmosphere. Sees many visitors. Lots of study areas. Would have benefited for some cosy seating for a longer stay to fall into a book. Used as a business hub for contacts and resources etc. has clean toilets available. Great location. Its free.
Gtube — Google review
The relatively new library is architecturally beautiful but I’m knocking off a point because the Library closed its cafe. When you send long spells in a library it’s helpful to be able to get a drink. In the British Library there are about four or five cafes on site which enables you to work, take a comfort break and return to researching or studying. Not sure why the second city’s main public library doesn’t have this important feature. I also think the business section could do with more resources and event to support businesses and business start up. That said, staff are helpful and professional. It’s easy to take out or renew memberships. I love the light and airy space on each floor and the statement elevators. The roof top garden is beautiful and a great amenity space on a warm day for us to catch up on phone calls. Again I may have remained there if I could have gotten a drink. Instead we leaf after two hours just to get refreshments.
Mal333 — Google review
I visited the Library of Birmingham today. Last year, there was a lovely water feature just outside the library — a great spot where kids could play and cool off. I checked several times this year, but unfortunately, it hasn’t been turned on at all, which was a bit disappointing. That said, I did discover a small children’s play area at the lower level of the library that I hadn’t seen before. It includes sand, water, wooden toys, and natural materials — a very fun and creative space for children to enjoy. Great to see the library offering more for little ones, but I really hope the water feature returns soon!
Bahareh M — Google review
The largest public library in the UK, Birmingham library is a great place to study. They have a large selection of books- academic, fiction and non-fiction self help books. You can also listen to audio books if you have a membership of the library which is relatively easy to get. The staff is always helpful with information relating to books and other related topics. You can find and reserve a book online on their site. They will find the book in their and other libraries and keep the book aside for you for a period of time. Having a cafe would be good given that you’d want to take a break from studying. Nevertheless it’s a beautiful place and a must visit from those outside the city. The balcony gives an amazing view of the city. 💖

Library of Birmingham – Modern, Inspiring, and Full of Character The Library of Birmingham is one of the city’s most stunning landmarks, combining modern architecture with a peaceful atmosphere for reading and learning. The terrace gardens and rooftop views are must-sees — perfect for relaxing or taking photos of the skyline. Inside, there’s a great mix of study spaces, archives, and exhibitions, with the Shakespeare Memorial Room being a real highlight. It can get busy and the layout takes a little getting used to, but the staff are friendly and the space feels welcoming to everyone. A true gem in the heart of Birmingham — ideal for book lovers, students, and anyone looking for quiet inspiration.
Michael K — Google review
The library is beautiful! As a tourist, it is a wonderful place for anyone coming to Birmingham. On the top 2 floors, there is a beautiful terrace with lots of flowers and benches to sit on. There is an exhibition that explains the history of the library. I recommend taking the elevator up and turn down by the escalators. As a student, it is a great place to study, do your homework, it has internet, very private spaces, you can get your membership card to request books. It is a great place for group study or even to read a book.
Micaela N — Google review
Amazing place to visit I love the design of the facade and interior design, the view fr the terrace this is the best library I been to in the UK
Reem — Google review
Beautiful, grandiose, and modern. I got a bit confused with finding which floor the fictional books where. It has a massive collection of educational books. If you are a student, a researcher, or curious intellectual, it probably has what you need. The spiral floors are lovely to look at. Sit down and admire the view. Read a book and relax. See the secret garden on the 7th floor and admire the view. Go to the top floor and ponder about Shakespeare.

Museums
The Lapworth Museum of Geology, located on the University of Birmingham campus, is a fascinating destination for anyone interested in the natural world. It houses an extensive collection of fossils, minerals, and rocks dating back over 3.5 billion years. The museum's airy Edwardian building showcases local Wenlock limestone fossils alongside colorful gems and crystals. Following a significant redevelopment in 2017, the museum now offers interactive exhibits that capture the imagination of visitors of all ages.
A brilliant place to visit with quality exhibits and welcoming staff. We went on a Sunday afternoon with a two year old and a three year old and they loved the dinosaur fossils, the rock wall and the giant interactive globe. The museum is in the beautiful grounds of the University of Birmingham, parking was free and easy to find and entry to the museum is also free. This place is a gem. We’ll be regular visitors for sure. Highly recommend.
Rahimah — Google review
Free entry to this hidden gem of a museum. Spoke to the person on reception about parking, who advised the parking is paid via RingGo app as seen in the signage and not free as per some Google reviews. Small museum with geological collections over 2 floors, located on Birmingham University campus. It is not a particular big museum, doable within 45 minutes if you read most of the information. It is not an interactive museum. There are toilet facilities on the ground floor. There is the Barber Institute of Fine Arts museum located close by but as of 2025, it remains closed until 2026 for major improvements.
JF L — Google review
Visited recently for an event held by the University of Birmingham and Kidney Care UK... The museum, located within the university, is beautiful and has plenty to explore. The atmosphere was welcoming, and staff were friendly and helpful throughout the event. It was well-organized and a great success. A lovely venue for both events and to visit in general
Rebecca G — Google review
Nice small museum that's free but asks for a donation. A couple of dinosaurs, lots of rocks and some cool interactive displays. Covers evolution. There is a section on geologists from Birmingham and the university. It will keep you entertained for 1 hour or so. Parking is 10 minutes walk but the walk is nice through the university grounds. They have live shows regularly. When I was there they had murder in the museum, an app on your phone to find clues (tricking children into looking at items into the museum). Well worth the £20 because the kids did that, whilst I looked at the displays in the museum.
Ben H — Google review
Small but great museum with lots to see including fossils, rocks and gemstones. There are some free activity sheets and a room with books, colouring sheets and puzzles. Great for an hour or so visit. There are some toilets and an opportunity to buy a souvenir/gift. Parking is £2.50 via the ringo app. They welcome donations but the museum does not charge an entry fee so no need to book. Quite warm on a hot day but we enjoyed our visit. Helpful lady at reception.
Kate P — Google review
What an amazing museum in a fab location on university campus. We used Google maps to get there by bus from city centre. Admission is free & the gem stone and fossil collection was amazing. Very informative & would recommend.
Bonnie C — Google review
We took our 4 yr old granddaughter who is developing an interest in everything such as fossils, insects, dinosaurs, stones. She loved it and so did we. It's not too big, two levels, so she was able to explore the museum fully. A great experience and lovely morning.
Tracey P — Google review
I had a great time visiting the Lapworth Museum of Geology! It’s a fascinating place filled with incredible displays of fossils, minerals, and rocks that tell the story of Earth’s history. The collection is beautifully organized, and there’s so much to see—from ancient dinosaur skeletons to sparkling gemstones. Best of all, it’s free to visit, making it a must-see for anyone in Birmingham. A perfect spot for science lovers and families alike!

Lickey Hills Country Park is a vast woodland area with numerous walking trails and a sculpture walk. It boasts an impressive collection of over 380 species of flowering plants. Located just outside the village of Barnt Green, this 524-acre park offers various woodland paths suitable for leisurely strolls or more challenging hikes. After exploring the hills, visitors can unwind at the nearby village's restaurants, pubs, and cafes or enjoy a picnic within the park.
Lovely woods with a deep forest feeling! Easy to access from Bromsgrove by bus and Barntgreen by walking. Bluebells are like a magic and have marvellous smell in spring, around beginning of May. Have visitor center with a toilet and car park but doesn't have café so bring your own water and meals for a picnic.
Fatma G — Google review
Very beautiful scenic walk. 3 different trails to follow. Yellow for short walk. Blue trail for about an hour walk. And red for a longer walk. Only downside is no cafe for a hot cuppa. There is about 4 tables and some chairs inside. Lots of space for picnic outside. The playground is not very big but the kids had fun cuz of the zip line.
Msafaa1 — Google review
Lickey Hills Country Park is a lovely place to relax and unwind. It’s perfect for spending quality time with family and friends, whether you want to enjoy a picnic, go for a walk, or simply take in the fresh air. The atmosphere is pleasant and peaceful, with plenty of open space and beautiful natural surroundings. A great spot for a day out.

Excellent space for a long walk, beautiful scenery and awesome if you wanna go mushroom picking for culinary mushrooms and the fun type. I found a massive kings Bolete Mushroom and was able to eat half which was delicious and sell the other half for £40!!!! It's also a great space for wildlife photography and just getting away

Absolutely a must visit space...beautiful vistas and trails.. Courteous friendly walkers and the the lovely duck pond cafe... Love it there at the Lickey's.. Go and decompress and forget everything for a moment 🌲🌳🌳🌲

We had a great time. They have a nice play area for the children, swings, slide and more. Green grass everywhere, great for picnics and relaxing outside. Nice clean toliet facilities, changing room and disabled access. As we were travelling with kids with walked the yellow trail, would advise to wear suitable foot wear, the trail is roughly 45 minutes. If you have a Stroller, I would advice making a sure you have someone with you, as there are afew steps you may need help with. I would definitely go again.

Located in the heart of the city, Ikon Gallery is a renowned art museum showcasing exhibitions by global contemporary artists. The gallery's unique concept involves transforming its space every few months to accommodate new exhibits, offering visitors an ever-changing experience. With a diverse range of mediums such as sound, film, photography, and sculpture, Ikon presents internationally acclaimed artwork and hosts events and workshops to engage with the Birmingham community.
Loved it ! The (free entrance) space is really great with two floors of exhibition including a social space which has that giant drawing social table which is filled with so much of the visitors drawings. Peaceful place. Access by stairs and elevator possible. Nice little souvenir shop at the ground floor. Very friendly staff. The exhibition on at the moment on friendship is very interesting (brace yourself some pieces can be challenging to grasp) with varied media types.

I think that this gallery probably has a relatively small collection and their reliant on visiting artist exhibitions for the majority of what they show. Arts are very personalized and you may really enjoy the current exhibit. It wasn’t a very good match for me. I would recommend that you. Check the website before you make the trip to make sure it’s going to be something that you’ll enjoy. There is a lot of construction in downtown. Birmingham and parking is really a bit of a nuisance. The gallery is free

Donald Locke exhibition at the Ikon Gallery 😁 First time at a his cool gallery 😁 Easy trip getting to and great design with both old and modern architecture 😁 The exhibits really stand out on the white walls 😁 Knowledgeable people in attendance who were willing to discuss the artwork. Fascinating exhibition 😁 Great little bookshop too. Free entry but donations gratefully accepted 😁

This beautiful spot is a hidden gem in the city—lined with cherry blossom trees that create a stunning canopy of pink petals. It’s the perfect place to take a peaceful stroll or relax on a bench while soaking in the vibrant, serene atmosphere. A must-visit during springtime!

I recently visited Ikon Gallery in Birmingham for the exhibition What Did You Want to See? by Mahtab Hussain. The exhibition offers a poignant exploration of Birmingham's Muslim communities, addressing themes of surveillance and identity. Hussain's photographic works, including intimate portraits and images of local mosques, challenge stereotypes and highlight the resilience of these communities. The gallery's minimalist design provides an ideal setting for the contemplative nature of the exhibition. Overall, it was a thought-provoking experience that deepened my understanding of the complexities surrounding identity and representation.

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens is a 15-acre site featuring exotic flora housed in elegant Victorian glass houses, along with a Bonsai garden and bird collection. The surrounding area offers nature lovers a variety of famous parks to explore, including the Birmingham Nature Centre, Cannon Hill Park, and more. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the vibrant nightlife concentrated along Broad Street and in Brindley place.
£9 entry for adults + £3 per car might seem steep but is 100% worth it for these beautiful gardens. With about 15 acres to explore you could easily spend 3-4hrs here! Perfect for a nice relaxed afternoon if you go during the week, I imagine it's quite a bit busier on the weekends and school holidays. Be aware that the hot-houses are very hot and humid! Probably 30-35? so if you go in the colder months make sure you can remove some layers easily. The grounds are broadly wheelchair accessible, with sloping ramps. Although if possible take someone who is able to open doors as one door in the cacti room to an accessible ramp does get stuck and some slopes (while gentle for those walking) could be a little steep for a manual chair. Plenty of benches around, some in the sun and some in the shade as well as a large gazebo-like structure near the rose garden you could duck into if it rains. Perfect for kiddos, if you park yourself in the cafe with a view to the hothouse door you can safely send them off on their own to run around for hours. There is a plat area as well if that's more their thing than running through bushes. Love the little shop, lots of gardening bits as well as cards, pottery and artwork all priced fairly high as you would expect for any garden centre/ public attraction. The cafe seems well enough, again watch out for your wallet as the cakes on display look delicious!
R D — Google review
The botanical garden tour was indeed a captivating experience, offering a glimpse into the beauty of diverse plant life. The carefully curated landscapes and vibrant flowers created a truly enchanting atmosphere. It was a pity that the allotted time did not allow for a more extensive exploration of all the garden's wonders. Perhaps another visit is in order to fully appreciate its splendor.
Zahir R — Google review
Came here with my partner. Pretty easy to book, can do so online. £3 per car parking - would advise not to go at a busy time as the car park will be full. Lovely day out full of various plants and trees. Most of the outdoor plants are British origin with others being housed indoors. Managed to get around in an hour and a half, seeing all of the plants we wanted to see. As per usual, snacks and drinks are a bit costly £1.50 for a can. Overall, would recommend

Hidden treasure!! My first time!! Has to be seen to believe!!The staff wore smiles, friendly & ready to help. The diversity of the plants, the japanese gardens, the water features, tidiness of the place, wonderful trees & pretty roses, incredible hidden corners of solitude & the wonderful cafe staff ‘amazing bakery’. Weekend in Birmingham kicked off with a visit to this beautiful place. Four people, two members and two concessions. Great Japanese section. Beautifully kept grounds. Good indoor and outside spaces. Child friendly. Disabled friendly. Loads of parking. Walkable from town centre. Good toilets. Nice cafe. Great way to spend a couple of hours 😁 Recommended 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Always a pleasure to visit, the hard work of all the team is paying off! Autumn colours are a delight, especially with the sunshine! Worth mentioning that this Botanic Garden is a fully independent charity: 9£ entry is in line with similar organisations (if not cheaper) and all the tickets and donations help keeping this unique Brummie gem open and well kept!

I just love this place. Love the gift shop, the cafe, the botanicals especially the tropical plants section and their carnivorous plants bit as well and the Japanese garden. The outdoor seating is a breath of fresh air and there is plenty of green grass for picnics.

The Barber Institute of Fine Arts is an art gallery and performance venue located in the beautiful University of Birmingham campus. The collection contains works by some of the greatest artists in history, including Monet, Van Gogh, Degas and Renoir. If you're a fan of fine art, then you should definitely check it out!
Definitely recommend it. They have a large collection, many famous artists. The staff is friendly. Nevertheless there is clearly room for improvement. The fact that many artworks are hanging tilted, not straight, that the light reflects on the frame window… not ideal. They could definitely also make it more interactive. Still a must see if you can especially as it’s free and not crowded so you can really wander around peacefully.

Went to see Blind Girl (not at main Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery), and discovered the gem that the gallery is on university campus. Well worth train from New Street to University (but quite a walk on campus).
Clive H — Google review
Absolute gem- was not expecting to see paintings and sculptures by Moore, Degas, Toulouse- Letrec, Rosalli, Monet, Van Gogh.. all without crowds and high entrance fees for exhibits! Well worth a visit and supporting through easy to use contactless donation points. Beautiful art deco building makes this, along with Winterbourne around the corner a joint favourite place to visit in Birmingham. Could do with a dedicated cafe and seating around to pull in the punters and agree with suggestions about poor lighting and tilt on some paintings but overall a wonderful local asset! Interesting scent exhibition at present too

We went to see a couple of the current exhibitions, but one only had 4 paintings, which I would not classify as an exhibition. Entry is free though.

Stunning Art Deco building and lovely staff. The exhibition ‘Scent’ is a brilliant idea and had some beautiful examples from the pre-Raphaelite era. If you get chance do pop in!

Love here so much! I didn't expect inside Birmingham University there is such nice art gallery. More surprisingly, two Monet and Van Gogh's original paintings on exhibition for public. Nice and comfortable environment, a wonderful place you can spend half day in it.

The beautiful St. Philip's Cathedral in Birmingham is a baroque cathedral famous for its impressive stained glass windows by Burne-Jones. It is also home to regular Mass and events/concerts. The cathedral was gutted during a bombing raid in 1940, but was rebuilt soon after and the windows were moved back to their rightful place. This unique church stands out from other cathedrals with its own unique style, making it an interesting destination to visit if you're in the area.
A small but well formed cathedral. Very helpful staff, beautiful colourful windows, a quiet peaceful place to sit and be. Gardens to enjoy outside for a picnic and watch the world go by in this very busy vibrant city.

Birmingham Cathedral is a beautiful and peaceful place right in the heart of the city. The building’s stunning architecture and colourful stained glass windows, especially the ones designed by Edward Burne-Jones, are truly breathtaking. Despite being in the busy city centre, the cathedral offers a calm and reflective atmosphere. The staff and volunteers are very friendly and welcoming, always happy to share the history of the place. The surrounding grounds are well-kept and provide a lovely spot to sit and take in the beauty of the area. A must-visit if you’re exploring Birmingham and appreciate art, history, or simply a moment of quiet.

Birmingham Cathedral, also known as St Philip’s, is a beautiful 18th-century Anglican cathedral set in the heart of the city. Despite its relatively small size compared to other cathedrals, it stands out for its striking Baroque architecture and the world-renowned stained-glass windows by Pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burne-Jones. Surrounded by peaceful grounds, it offers a quiet retreat amid the busy city centre. Visitors appreciate its welcoming atmosphere, historic charm, and spiritual significance, making it both a place of worship and a cultural landmark worth exploring.

Birmingham Cathedral is a beautiful and inspiring landmark right in the heart of the city centre. Despite being surrounded by modern buildings and busy streets, it feels like a peaceful oasis — a place to pause, reflect, and appreciate some truly remarkable architecture and history. The cathedral itself is stunning, with its elegant Baroque design and incredible stained-glass windows by Edward Burne-Jones — a real treasure for art and history lovers alike. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and welcoming, with friendly staff and volunteers who are always happy to share the story of the building and its place in Birmingham’s history. The grounds are lovely too — a green open space where people sit, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. It’s one of the few places in the city where you can feel both connected to Birmingham’s heritage and part of its everyday life. Whether you’re local or just visiting, Birmingham Cathedral is well worth a stop. It’s a perfect reminder of the city’s rich culture, creativity, and sense of community.

The Cathedral is a beautiful and serene spot right in the heart of Birmingham. The cathedral itself is historic, with stunning Baroque architecture and incredible stained glass windows. Inside, the peaceful atmosphere makes it perfect for quiet reflection or simply admiring the artistry. Just next to the cathedral is a lovely park where pigeons gather and a Ferris wheel adds a fun, vibrant touch, making the area lively yet relaxing. Its central location means you can easily explore other city attractions on foot. Whether you’re an architecture enthusiast, art lover, or just exploring Birmingham, this is a must-visit spot. The mix of history, beauty, and a lively park makes it truly memorable.

Thats a surprise because its small compare to other city cathedrals. This church became cathedral in 1905. Though its pretty and love the decor. Its the oldest architectural piece that stands high in city centre and still in use. Nice vibes and very calm inside. Beautiful stained glass windows designed by Birmingham born artist Edward Burne Jones are very vibrant and eye catching. Im glad i made my visit.

Cadbury World is a popular family attraction located in Birmingham's southern district of Bournville. It offers a self-guided exhibition tour showcasing the origins of chocolate and the history of Cadbury, the UK's favorite chocolatier. Visitors can explore interactive displays about chocolate-making and learn about Cadbury's legacy as the country's first established chocolate manufacturer. The tour includes attractions such as magical Cadabra rides, a 4D Chocolate Adventure zone, and free chocolate samples for all guests.
An amazing experience at Cadbury World with my family. It was way beyond my expectations, with the price paid, you get free chocolate bars, walked through the chocolate making tour, history of Cadbury, free freshly made chocolate with toppings, 4D cinema, hands-on chocolate tempering, interactive ride and outdoor playground, superb for kids in primary school. Two hours nicely spent and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend and would return again in future! It was a pleasant experience. The price might seem a bit pricey but at the end you will think it is worthwhile for the experience offered.
Raymond K — Google review
Lovely experience. It was a wonderful time, spent around 2 hrs. The best part was the 4D movie which was just wow. And then the avenue was the good experince. If could show more about how chocolates are made nowadays then it would be more interesting. I have seen cadbury making process in a different country and that was more into the process making, so thats what a gap was I feel... rest everything was an amazing experience. It was my best birthday present.
Vignesh K — Google review
Its not a very big place, but informative and there were things to do. We also got a taster cup of chocolate, it was nice. Saw a demo about how the chocolate was made. Unfortunately when we went the rides were not working and my child was so disappointed! The ticket was not cheap, so all the rides should work properly!
Stefani W — Google review
Would be better if you had kids. Overall nice experience if you’ve never been, lots of history and memorabilia but other than that just cinema screens showing animations that you have to que for every section. ‘Free’ chocolates are less than they use to be which used to be the best part. Lots of opportunities to upsell photos, rides, drinks, food, gifts.
Sasha W — Google review
It was heart warming to know the history of Mr. Cadbury, his struggles and triumph. Their design and way of story telling is awesome. Kids will enjoy the rides and play area. There is some for adults too. Don't forget to buy chocolates at a discounted price at their shop.
S H — Google review
I visited Cadbury world in Birmingham on a weekday as I predicted this to be a little quieter than a weekend which it was. I managed to get a few snaps of the factory as you take a trip an a good history lesson of the beginnings all the way to present day. I like the tour and I think it’s pretty cool, especially seeing the chocolate makers on the ground floor making the chocolate fresh and shaping these for souvenirs to buy or for special events coming up. The gift shop is also pretty cool and worth a visit, having some cool novelties you can buy and take home with you. HOWEVER, for being a chocolate tour, the ride was not working when I was there, which was disappointing. Also, you only get 2 free bars of chocolate included in your tour visit, which is a little ridiculous considering that you pay a decent price to go.
Did T — Google review
A place that offers information, fun filled activities and entertainment. Booking tickets in advance is must. It will save you a trip and money. Arrive by about your time of entry, they let people queue and enter in batches. The tour begins with a historic display of cocoa production and evolution of chocolate while it travelled across the world. Then the first chocolate shop and birth of Cadbury, some stories of the family and how they ventured into this business. Followed by the making of chocolate, staffs demonstrating the process and later you get to do it by yourself. Inside they also sell some crazy structures of chocolate. Then you get entertained by 4D movie, dwelling into the world of characters Cadbury has introduced. Followed by a nice exhibit narrating the story of Bournville village and a fun filled ride where you collect the ingredients (virtually) to make your own chocolate. If you may have forgotten to collect something, don't worry you can buy them from their store that has EVERYTHING CHOCOLATE!!! A one of its kind place to engage all age groups. You get some free chocolates on entry and can buy more at exit. There is a cafe inside this building. Parking available. Cloak room is only for large luggage bags. Enough numbers of toilets available in intervals throughout the tour.

The think tank is a great spot for all ages. Whether you're older or younger there is something for everybody. The play area was a favourite on our visit, the kids would love to go back just for that. It's interactive and has so many different things there. It shows so much local history too which we loved. Pricing was fair and the staff were great too.

We visited Thinktank with our 6 and 9-year-olds, and they absolutely loved it, especially the outdoor area. It's really well set up for kids, and you could easily spend 2-3 hours exploring everything. Just a tip: that outdoor section can get hot in summer. Inside, the museum is spread across three stories, so there's plenty to see. A bonus for us was discovering that if you travel by bus or train, you can get 50% off admission! That made it even better value. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a fun and educational day out with the family.

Really great day out for all the family. Can get good discounts if you know where to look which makes it much more affordable. Loads to do. The outside water play part it especially brilliant for your kids. Planetarium comes at an extra cost but was good.

The family had a great time at the Think Tank in Birmingham. Whilst there's quite a bit to see and do, some activities weren't available due to tech issues hence the 3 stars. We parked at the Millenium Point Car Park and it's literally less than a 2 min walk to the Think Tank. There is a cafe which serves hot food, hot beverages and bakery items. The planetarium show is definitely worth seeing and the kids loved it. Lasts 20mins which gives the kids a good break.

3 hours well spent! The exhibitions are interactive and informative. I was surprised to see paper printed information peeling off the wall given the price of the ticket. The Planetarium is OK if you are new to this.

Fantastic and interesting place. Every floor offers a different insight on science, evolution, technology and mechanics throughout human history. I would definitely recommend a visit especially with the kids. The Gift shop is quite expensive though! And finding parking is a nightmare.

Brilliant day out for children, lots to do even with small toddlers. There's something for everyone. Only problem we encountered was the cafe being closed on the ground floor so there was no access to these toilets and we had to go back out the main entrance to use these. The seating area in mini Brum also had no coffee machines like it used to, so we had to leave to go to a coffee shop and then come back. Was just a slight hassle given the cafe was also closed.

A Perfect Sunny Day at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham My wife and I recently spent a sunny afternoon at Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham, and it was truly a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the park's stunning natural beauty – wide open green spaces, beautiful flowerbeds, and the gentle sound of birds singing and water trickling through the stream. It’s the perfect escape from the noise of the city. We took a long, relaxing walk through the park, and every step was a joy. The fresh air, peaceful atmosphere, and scenic views made it feel like a small piece of countryside right in the heart of Birmingham. Along the way, we passed several charming coffee shops and an ice cream van, which added a lovely touch to our visit – ideal for taking a short break and enjoying a treat. One of the highlights is the presence of the historic MAC (Midlands Arts Centre), located within the park. It offers exhibitions, performances, and a café with outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying a drink while soaking in the view. There are also picturesque bridges, boating lake areas, and even a small funfair for families. Whether you’re going for a walk, having a picnic, or just sitting on a bench to relax, Cannon Hill Park offers something for everyone. We truly enjoyed every single minute and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Birmingham – it’s a hidden gem that captures both the beauty of nature and the charm of the city's history. Cannon zHill Park is one of the biggest parks situated in Moseley, not far from the cricket ground. It has all the usual park features, a lake with ducks, tree lined paths, boating area, floral areas, a picnic playground, toilets and an access to the MAC, an arts centre. We enjoyed a contemplative walk through the park after learning of a bereavement. The park appears dog friendly and it has many lawns for picnics.

Sheldon Country Park is a sprawling 300-acre expanse of open grassland, wetlands, and mature woodland offering a variety of trails ranging from 2km to 5km in length. Visitors can also combine different paths for longer walks. The park is adjacent to the airport, providing plane-spotting opportunities. Additionally, the Old Rectory Farm at the entrance dates back to the 17th century and has been fully restored as a working dairy farm.
Absolutely incredible place to spot for aviation lovers. Great for departures out of 33 or arrivals into 15. Lots of open space so you can get a good view. Have experienced Sheldon both completely empty and full but you get a great view either way. Easy access, especially from Marston Green train station which is just a few minutes walk away.

The park itself is well-maintained, with plenty of open space for picnics, walks, or just sitting back and enjoying the view. The combination of natural beauty and the excitement of watching planes makes this place truly unique. And we also got to see a rainbow there. 😍

Beautiful huge park, fantastic viewing area for Birmingham airport, literally at the end of the runway where the planes are taking off soaring just a few hundred feet above your head! There's a stream runs through the middle with an abundance of wildlife and at the far end a small children's farm, with pigs, cattle, donkeys and horses to name but a few. There's a children's play area, a tea room, selling lovely cakes, cookies, hot and cold food and drinks, ice creams etc Best of all parking is free, the farm is free too! We spent a lovely four hours wandering around but is definitely worth a day out to explore the wooded paths that lead off in all directions. Excellent!

I recently went to see Symphonic Queen with my friend Lisa at Symphony Hall and the entire experience from when we walked in to when we left was fantastic. We were able to collect our tickets from the box office speedily, enjoying a reasonably priced drink at one of the many bars at the waiting areas, pre-ordering a drink for the intermission. We had side balcony seats which gave us a fantastic view of the stage and orchestra, the acoustics and lighting were phenomenal. The staff were incredibly pleasant, hardworking and helpful. There’s not a single thing that I can honestly say about Symphony Hall that is negative. I urge everybody to find a show they feel would be of interest and go see it. Only one criticism. Some of the seated areas have very limited leg space, which is more noticeable during longer performances or shows. Due to long lines of seats with limited leg space and no access isles; everyone has to stand to allow someone in or out, after people have sat down. This also makes me question what would happen if there was an emergency requiring evacuation. How would that go? Not well I suspect, and certainly, accessibility for those with walking aids or wheelchairs would not be viable for these seats (though I'm certain that there will be other, specific areas where accessibility has been considered). Also another more minor issue... Drink/snack holders would be nice, though I appreciate this is not always considered appropriate at these types of venue. Other aspects of the venue were exceptional. Spacious, clean, well designed, well staffed. Friendly and helpful staff. Facilities were also of a good standard. Also I should say the crowd were excellent. Everyone was friendly and considerate, and excited or happy to be there. It was truly a joy to experience.

The hall itself is nice, comfortable seats, and the sound acoustics were great. The event itself was good, with a clear screen and an absolutely stunning orchestra. Slight disappointment that they didn't play the cantina band song live, and the queues for the bar at the interval were long which meant we ended up not buying a drink. Regardless, it was fantastic and the orchestra were definitely the stars of the show! I'd definitely go there again for future events!

The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham offers live demonstrations of traditional jeweler's craft and legacy tours of time-warp workshops. This famous area showcases the city's history as a major jewelry manufacturing hub, dating back to at least the 16th century. The Quarter remains an important center for jewelry production, with 40% of all UK jewelry still made here annually. It is a fascinating neighborhood that provides insight into Birmingham's industrial past and its ongoing significance in European jewelry making.
A great little museum. William the tour guide was excellent - very entertaining and interesting. An hour well spent. Lovely and warm as well, which is what you want in February. It was almost eerie to see the papers and machines how the last workers left them in the 80s. It really brought the era to life for me. Good selection of coasters in the gift shop.

I was very happy to hear the museum was reopened and had a gret time there!! A very interesting part of Birmingham's history! Our guide Carl was so nice and explainer things so well. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. I do recommend going!

A truly fascinating visit! Our guided tour (ca. 1 hour) was done by a knowledgable, dedicated volunteer (our guide grew up just a few streets from the museum) and the entire museum and preserved factory space is beautifully presented. You can see the tools, work benches, office and all the steps involved in making a piece of jewellery from order via the raw materials and hand-stamping and tooling to shipping. Some machines still work and the tour guide will activate them to let you experience the workspace. You can ask questions and we learned a lot about the city’s jewellery trade in the industrial age. The little shop also has a neat selection of Birmingham (social) history and fashion history publications. Highly recommend visiting!

We visited for the pop up event. It was great to see the museum and all the equipment used for jewellery making. We wish the visit was a bit more guided, but staff were very nice and enthusiastic. We hope this little time capsule opens up for more visitors soon!

The museum shows the working of a jewellery company in Birmingham, it's is genuine reflection of how workshops functioned. It has also exquisite displays of silverware and jewellery. The top floor of the museum is still being worked on and not yet open however it is well worth the visit. Note that it is guided tour our guide was knowledgeable, had experience in jewellery making and friendly. Well worth a visit.

Great little museum and a very good tour! Our guide, Tim, was excellent and knowledgeable about the history of the factory and family that ran it. Highly recommend.

I visited the Jewellery Quarter Museum with my 10-year-old son for a fascinating tour the outstanding volunteer guides bring to life about this unique manufacturing area. All of the exhibits and demonstrations are fascinating in themselves, but what truly made the tour exceptional was our guide, Carl. His knowledge is incredible, and his delivery was both humorous and passionate. He even picked up on my son's love of rugby and enriched the tour with stories of local Rugby teams, ensuring his young mind stayed fascinated throughout. Highly recommended!

Fascinating: the workshop and the office are full of the paraphernalia of the jewellery-making business, as if the workers had just left the building (which they did in 1981). Interesting and well presented guided tour, well worth visiting.

Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park, located in Birmingham, UK within the picturesque Cannon Hill Park, is dedicated to preserving endangered species through conservation and captive breeding. The park serves as a sanctuary for various animals including lemurs, reptiles, meerkats, otters, birds, wallabies and a diverse collection of monkeys.
Very nice place we were there with the kids over 2 hours! We were excited to see animals we had never seen before and the children went crazy with joy! The price is absolutely adequate, I would even say that it is cheap because for two children and two adults 35£ and seriously worth it. children of all ages will have plenty of fun here. In addition, there are also toilets and a restaurant in this reserve. There is also a souvenir shop. Love it , love it!

Lovely place to visit, especially if you have children or are an animal lover! They have a great range of animals which have lovely, clean enclosures, they look well looked after, and it’s a great atmosphere. We stopped at the little cafe to grab an ice cream, there’s a small indoor soft play area but you need to make sure your children have socks if you want to use it. There’s a lovely outdoor park with a large climbing frame, a large rope seesaw swing and walkways for children. £11 for an adult during peak times, under 3’s are free. Was a really nice afternoon out and my son loved it! Absolutely recommend!

Animal welfare was brilliant and the tickets felt worth the money. We managed to spend 4 hours here and the red panda and komodo dragon were definitely the highlights. I think it can be a great trip if you manage your expectations. Unfortunately, unlike other wildlife parks & zoos, staff were not particularly friendly (except for the staff in the cafe who were lovely!). At the entrance, staff seemed to purposefully ignore us before finally standing up to see to us and we were not met with any smiles or well wishes. When we had to revisit later for plasters from their first aid box, they were completely uninterested again and didn't ask a single question about why my friend's hand was bleeding. Lynx feeding was at 12:30 and we waited at the enclosure opposite the staff hut (and where Nala the lynx was) for around 20 mins. Staff saw us waiting but left us waiting at the wrong side - he walked right past us without a word and fed her on the complete other side of the enclosure so we ended up missing it. I can't understand why he wouldn't just say something - even if just aloud in general or to the lynx, we would have followed but he said nothing! We also saw what appeared to be cockroaches crawling across the viewing area of the komodo dragon and a dead one on the floor of the reptile house (neither in a tank or enclosure but on the floor of where visitors were walking). Hopefully just large beetles (?) but they did look like cockroaches! Map is also pretty outdated and a bit confusing. Despite this, I would come back again as it was amazing to see the animals and they seemed really happy.
Grace — Google review
They don’t have a huge variety of species, and the zoo itself isn’t very big — but it’s well-organized, and you can tell they truly care for the animals. My favorites are the otters and the parrots. I’m pretty sure the parrots are a couple because they’re absolutely inseparable — always cuddling and kissing each other. The otters are just adorable! They actually respond when you call them and sometimes even perform little tricks if they like you. There’s also a massive Komodo dragon — gosh, that beast is terrifying! Another fun spot is the stone bed for fossil hunting. If you look closely, you might actually find a real fossil. And finally, the amazing turtle — last time I visited, it had three tiny babies. Absolutely beautiful. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!

Really enjoyed our visit, although we've been to nearby Cannon Hill park hundreds of times, we had never been to the Conservation park, little did we know how near it was to the park either. Paid on entry and tickets are very reasonable. You can easily spend 3/4 hours here. Onsite cafe, plenty of toilets. We went round the park twice and second time saw different animals. Great day overall

Such a fun afternoon out here! They had so many animals and we loved that they were being well looked after too. Alot of animals come here after being injured and need rehabilitation. It's not like your normal zoo, there's so much for kids and adults to do here. It was such a fun afternoon out and didn't cost too much.

Lovely place to visit. Paid on entry and ticket prices are reasonable. It took us just under two hours to see every bit of the park. A variety of animals to see and their enclosures are quite spacious and seem well equipped. Even though it rained intermittently during our visit which was off putting (wrong choice of day to visit I guess) but a good day overall. Absolutely recommend.

Aston Hall is a stunning Jacobean-style mansion located in Birmingham, UK. Built in 1635, it boasts period rooms that offer a glimpse into the past and has hosted famous visitors like King Charles I. The hall also bears partial damage from the English Civil War. Surrounding the mansion are scenic gardens perfect for leisurely strolls. Additionally, occasional special events are held on the grounds, making it an engaging destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
It's hard to believe this beautiful, serene place is only an eight minute train ride from Birmingham New Street. Its a great historical building; each of the rooms look stunning and the gardens are well cultivated and maintained. I was here on a hot summer Saturday afternoon (the last weekend of June)., and was surprised it wasn't very busy. Yes, there were other visitors around, but it never felt crowded. Maybe the £10 admission fee is off-putting to some? The visit here was definitely worthwhile and felt like a tranquil oasis from the crowded Birmingham city centre. The volunteers are very knowledgably of the building's history and the gardens are a great place to relax after touring the rooms withing the grand hall.

Aston Hall was our wedding venue. It's a fantastic building, full of character and wonderful spaces. While booking was a bit of a faff, the staff on the day were excellent and did everything to make the event run smoothly while still being great fun, including accommodating a harpist and two bands. We had canapes on site that were also superb. If you're looking for somewhere a little different, Aston Hall is highly recommended.

Visited mid-morning on the first Saturday of half-term. Spectacular site, easy to get to using public transport. Entry price was reasonable, leaving you on a self-guided tour of the rooms. Best part was easily the volunteers, they were keen to answer any questions you had, and will take you on tours of parts of the building not accessible to the public without a guide - the attic spaces were particularly interesting, lots of ghost stories! Great for anyone from history geeks (like myself) to casual tourists to families. Can't believe a gem like this is just in the middle of the city!

Nestled in the serene Sutton Park, The Donkey Sanctuary in Birmingham is a heartwarming haven dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of donkeys in need. As a registered charity, it tirelessly rescues and rehomes these gentle creatures who have faced neglect or mistreatment. Visitors can enjoy spacious fields and cozy shelters while interacting with friendly staff who are always ready to share their knowledge about these lovable animals.
Wonderful experience, a beautiful and loving place for the Donkeys to reside. Everything looked so new and well cared for, Donkeys were really chilled out. Keepers were very chatty and informative. We drove over an hour to visit this place and it was well worth it, even adopted Jasper the donkey before we left. Highly recommend and we left with big smiles on our faces.

Lovely place to visit in Sutton park for half an hour to see around 20 donkeys. Great for kids and knowledgable staff are happy to share information. Check opening times as these are limited. Wonderfully educational visit to the Donkey Sanctuary, where a lot of work is done to help look after Donkeys. The Donkeys are thoroughly rehabilitated and nurtured back to full health. Moseley Bog, also known as The Dell, is a nature reserve in Birmingham that is believed to have inspired J.R.R. Tolkien's Old Forest in The Lord of the Rings. This 22-acre woodland area features walking trails, bird watching opportunities, and ancient burnt mounds. It is rich in historical significance and biodiversity, with a mill pond housing several burnt mounds from ancient times.
Been here many times over the years but came today as part of a nature themed walk. There is a small car park at the main entrance with bike racks just further in the site. Such a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year to be absorbed in the natural beauty. Vast range of trees, plants and birds. There is a map of the site at the entrance to help plan your walk and identify places of interest. You need to wear sensible shoes as sections of the paths are muddy, especially after rainfall. Great place to bring children as it really is a wild playground for them. Those in wheelchairs will find parts of the site difficult to access. No toilets here.
Elizabeth B — Google review
Moseley Bog offers a welcome escape into nature within the bustling city of Birmingham. This local nature reserve, once the childhood playground of J.R.R. Tolkien and said to have inspired the ancient forests of Middle-earth, exudes a tranquil and slightly mystical atmosphere. Its diverse landscape of wet and dry woodland, interspersed with patches of fen vegetation, creates a rich habitat for various wildlife, though patient observation is key to spotting them. The winding paths, some wooden boardwalks and others earthy trails, invite leisurely exploration. Ancient, gnarled trees stand sentinel, their twisted forms adding to the bog's unique character. While the "bog" element might suggest a muddy trek, the maintained paths make it largely accessible for most fitness levels, even accommodating buggies in some areas. However, don't expect manicured gardens; Moseley Bog is a wilder, more untamed space, which is precisely its charm. The air is fresh, and the sounds of nature – birdsong and rustling leaves – provide a soothing backdrop. It's a place for quiet contemplation and a refreshing connection with the natural world, a hidden gem offering a peaceful retreat from urban life. Just be sure to wear appropriate footwear, especially after rain.

Moseley Bog is a lovely place to walk. You forget you're in a city. Can't believe I am 64 and never been here, will definitely be visiting again. Car park is very small but you should be able to park near by. The only thing to spoil it was the selfishness of dog owners who leave bags of poo lying around or even hanging from a tree 😡 and the rubbish left in the car park, some left by visitors 😡 some by people who must frequent the car park at night😡. Happily the selfishness of other's doesn't ruin this beautiful place.

Nice woods in the middle of the city. It was good during spring time with flowers in the woods. Avoid this during rainy time as it can get very muddy in the middle of woods. There are some places where wooden board have been laid so it wasn’t that bad even if it was muddy but it’s present only at few places. Pets are welcome. There is limited parking. A good place for a short walk!

BBC Birmingham is a fantastic destination for families and fans of the iconic broadcaster. Although currently suspended due to the pandemic, once it reopens, visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of engaging activities. Imagine stepping into the shoes of a presenter on Newsround or snapping a photo with Doctor Who's TARDIS and an old Dalek!
This is the BBC studios. The public can visit free of charge to see various displays. I saw some of the costumes from the Peaky Blinders series. Good for a quick stop if in the area.

We were walking through the Mailbox and noticed this, so popped in. It piqued our curiosity from the outside but it's nothing majorly special, just like a very small museum of BBC TV artefacts. As a fan of Peaky Blinders, I found items relating to that show interesting. The man on the front desk was very welcoming and friendly, he said it used to be a lot better before covid and there were more things to do in here. We wandered around it for 5-10 minutes before leaving.

Worth it for Dr Who and archer fans alot to see did them. You can also take the chance to record yourself presenting BBC weather reading a teleprompter which was interesting to see. Worth popping in if you have nothing to do.

It is truly lamentable that Japan's Sanseitō (参政党) is being equated with "far-right parties" or even the "Nazis" overseas. Japan has accepted immigrants over the years, but unfortunately, not all of them follow proper procedures—some have entered illegally without completing the required processes. Furthermore, there seems to be an increasing number of foreign nationals who, despite being in Japan, disregard Japanese rules and act as they please. This is a betrayal to those foreign immigrants and overseas workers who have entered the country legally with proper visas, and for many Japanese people, having their country disrupted in such a way is a source of deep humiliation. Let me ask: if a group of immigrants came to the UK and acted without visas or respect for local laws, would the British people simply accept it by saying, "Well, we have immigration policies, so it's inevitable that some immigrants won’t follow the rules"? Japan has its own laws, just as the UK does. I believe most people would not want those who ignore such laws and behave selfishly to come to their country.

This is a must-see for any visitor to Birmingham. It's a modest but seriously good museum, preserving an aspect of Birmingham's (and indeed British) history that is not well known. The displays of pen nibs illustrating the history of their manufacture in Birmingham are fascinating by themselves. But I really enjoyed the second room with the film and the hands-on demonstration of how to make a nib. The gentlemen who guided us through the process was so knowledgeable, it was like stepping back 100 years. The third room where you can try handwriting and use typewriters and office calculators. The volunteers were more than happy to answer our questions.

A fantastic little museum. 3 rooms packed with lots to see. Our guide, demonstrating the presses was incredibly knowledgeable. Some of the information presented was mind-blowing: how can someone make 28,000 nib blanks in a day?!? A multi-storey car is a few minutes' walk away, and the Metro station just a little further. Definitely worth a visit. Recommended. The little souvenir was a nice touch.

Absolutely brilliant! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff that were keen to engage in conversation. The man who showed the pressing of the nib was spot on. I felt bad as I missed the tour and was there alone but he still went through the entire process with me and answered all of my questions. What he doesn’t know about the local pen industry is not worth knowing 🤣 I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in pens or local history.

A really good museums on the pen trade in Birmingham. Across three rooms there are pen displays, informative text and a video with interviews by people who worked in the pen nib factories in their youth. You can also try your hand at different calligraphy forms and pens. The best bit was the middle room which has a workshop full of old tools set up in it. A lovely, dedicated volunteer guided us through some steps of making our own pen nibs. You really get a sense what skill and effort the work was to the people, and the pen nib is a really neat souvenir to take home! It is close to the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter so is a good opportunity to get to know Birmingham‘s industrial heritage.

The Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham, also known as the Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market, is a festive event that takes place around St. Phillips Cathedral until December 22nd. The market features over 50 independent traders offering arts, crafts, food, and drinks in charming wooden chalets adorned with fairy lights and baubles. Visitors can expect a local touch with Brummie artwork and balti bowls from Birmingham-based vendors.
A brilliantly put together market, definitely the best I have ever been to. Delicious food and drink as well as lots of music and a nice atmosphere. Great decorations. Perfect for date night. Don’t come here expecting lots of handmade items however, it’s mainly food and drink. Extremely busy on Saturdays, almost impossible to walk through. I would recommend Friday night over Saturday as they are much quicker.

I went to the Birmingham Frankfurt German Market with my family (and guests visiting from Denmark). Last year it was busy so we didn’t queue for food, but this time there was not specified many people ad we visited early November so we went all in. We spent a small fortune on food and drinks — pretzels, waffles, hot dogs, gingerbread — and everything was disappointing. The gingerbread was awful (£12 for 10 pieces!), the hot dogs tasteless, waffles dry. Only the mulled wine was okay, but £5 for a tiny cup plus £5 deposit is madness. I’ve been to real German markets in Frankfurt and Berlin — this one doesn’t even come close. It looks nice in photos, but that’s it. Total letdown, not worth getting there.
Miroslaw G — Google review
Amazing atmosphere! The German food and beer were delicious. We tried Glühwein for the first time, and it was nice. It’s the perfect spot to get into the Christmas spirit. The evening was much better than the afternoon—the lights were stunning, though it was quite crowded. Highly recommend!
Dilan K — Google review
Great christmas market with lots of stalls selling festive foods and drinks and decorative items. Worth a trip!
Iris T — Google review
Since we could not actually get to Germany for a Christmas market this was definitely the next best thing. Delicious, authentically German food and drink, reasonable prices, and lots of options. The people were friendly and we felt very safe wandering around at night. There were plenty of places (table alcoves) to stop and enjoy Glühwein or a pint. Can't wait for next year.

Mailbox Birmingham is a renowned retail destination in the heart of the city, attracting those with a taste for luxury living and high-end shopping. It houses upscale brands like Harvey Nichols, Paul Smith, Hugo Boss, and Armani Collezioni, as well as offering exceptional dining options such as Marco Pierre White Steakhouse. The district is popular among fashion enthusiasts and interior design aficionados due to its mix of designer fashion stores and interior design outlets.
It is a lovely place with an enticing choice of cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed a coffee and toasties at the Black Sheep cafe. Advertised as 'coffee not just for girls'. It was a lovely tasty blend. It was very nice. Lovely service and plenty of seating .

I hadn't been here in years, as there are much better steak restaurants in the city now. Somebody wanted to see the great views. Adequate service, nice steaks. The food manager needs to check himself. He has some attitude. Lovely views from the corner table. I thought they would have dropped the £10 charge for sitting by the window 😃by now.

This is a stylish canalside hub that blends shopping, dining, leisure, and workspaces in the heart of the city. Once a Royal Mail sorting office, it now houses high-end stores like Harvey Nichols, the boutique Everyman Cinema, and the chic Malmaison Hotel. The BBC studios add prestige, while restaurants and cafés along the water create a relaxed, atmospheric vibe. Its sleek, contemporary design feels clean and welcoming, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The canalside views are especially memorable at night or during events. Whether for shopping, dining, or a hotel stay, the Mailbox offers something for everyone. It stands out as one of Birmingham’s most distinctive and elegant destinations.

Such a lovely spot with a great mix of cafés and restaurants to choose from. We stopped by the Black Sheep Café for coffee and toasties — their slogan, “coffee not just for girls,” made us smile. The coffee was delicious, really nice flavour, and the food hit the spot too. Friendly service and plenty of seating made it an easy, relaxed stop.

The Mailbox is a beautiful place to unwind and enjoy the city. There was some lovely live music playing during my visit, which created such a relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved watching the sunset over the canals—it’s absolutely breathtaking. The area is full of restaurants and bars, so you can enjoy a meal or a drink while taking in the view. Whether for a casual evening or a special outing, The Mailbox is a must-visit in Birmingham.

Lovely drinks and selection of treats always so good. Sticky toffee banana cake was gluten free I think and was insane. Rocky Road also good and matcha was good

The Mailbox in Birmingham is a truly exceptional destination that beautifully combines style, leisure, and a fantastic dining scene. It's a world away from a typical shopping centre, offering a sophisticated and tranquil experience right by the canal. The location is absolutely stunning, with the waterside setting creating a relaxed and elegant atmosphere that makes every visit feel special. The range of shops is superb, featuring a great mix of high-end brands and unique boutiques. However, what really stands out is the incredible selection of bars and restaurants. Whether you're looking for a casual lunch, a celebratory dinner, or just a cocktail with a view, you'll find an amazing choice of venues, each with its own distinct charm. The entire complex is impeccably maintained, and the team members are always welcoming and helpful. The Mailbox is more than just a place to shop and eat; it's a social hub and a brilliant place to spend a day or an evening. It's a real gem in the heart of the city.

A mailbox means everything in one at short. Really enjoyed a day out with my friend, just a few miles near walking distance to China town. Many different kind of cuisine available and pubs and bars. They even have a pub with arcade games inside. Luckily they have a dragon boat race and all of the teams are local and it is a 21 degree sunny day, really enjoy it. Free lovely mochi ice cream as well just for today, I think I am blessed.😋😋

Bodies of Water
Edgbaston Reservoir, located in Birmingham, is a 70-acre site with open water that was built by Thomas Telford in 1827 to supply water to the city's canal network. The reservoir features a 1.75-mile path around it, offering picturesque views and a wooded trail that is home to various wildlife such as woodpeckers, newts, and bats.
It's a beautiful place, quite and serene, where you can enjoy the natural beauty and connect with the nature.
Ashish L — Google review
I really enjoy visiting Edgbaston Reservoir. The nature is beautiful and it’s very easy to access. The lake is stunning, and you can often spot lovely swans which always makes me happy. On calm days, you can also see boats gliding over the water which adds to the peaceful atmosphere. Overall, it’s a place I truly like. The only downside is that, since it’s not a very large park, sometimes you might notice the smell of people smoking cannabis. It doesn’t happen every time, but it can take away from the enjoyment of the natural setting. I truly hope that either visitors become more considerate or there will be some rules in place to reduce smoking in open areas, so that everyone can enjoy the beauty of this place without disturbance.

Love this Reservoir. They have park run every Saturday morning. One lap around the reservoir is 2.5k so easy to calculate when running. Also reasonably flat!

Great walk around with a spot of trees in the city. Shame there is a lot of broken glass everywhere, I like to take my dog out there but you constantly have to keep an eye on the floor for glass.

Edgbaston Reservoir is a peaceful escape in Birmingham, perfect for walks, runs, or a quiet afternoon by the water. The scenic views and wildlife (especially birds!) make it a hidden gem. Paths are well-maintained, and it’s great for kayaking or sailing. Lacks cafes/amenities, so bring your own snacks. Can get busy on weekends, but still a lovely spot for nature lovers. #EdgbastonReservoir #Birmingham #OutdoorEscapes

An absolute great day, my children and I had during the holidays. We went on a fairy trail hunt around the park and it was lovely out with nature just exploring. A good few hours is what you need to come here as it is a huge park and has beautiful scenery.. there are two car parks, one as you drive in (no charge) and one over the bridge (charges). The staff are friendly, there is a cafe with seating area, toilets which is all very clean. I payed on arrival but you can buy tickets online. 😊

Had a fantastic visit to RSPB Sandwell Valley recently! It’s a beautiful, peaceful spot that’s perfect for birdwatching and relaxing in nature. The staff and volunteers were really welcoming and helpful. During my visit, I spotted some amazing birds, including oystercatcher, lots of geese, and many other species. The hide is brilliant — well maintained and perfectly placed to give you a great view without disturbing the wildlife. It’s such a calm and relaxing place to sit quietly and enjoy nature. The only downside was a few bike riders passing nearby with very loud engine sounds, which disturbed the peace a little and seemed to unsettle some of the birds. It didn’t ruin the visit, but it would be even better if the area could be kept quieter for both visitors and wildlife. Overall, it’s a wonderful place and I highly recommend a visit if you love nature, birds, and some quiet time outdoors!

We have a fantastic day in the children's Thursday activity, £6 per person. Totally worth it!!! We did pond dipping, we find fantastic creatures there!!! We burnt Marshmallow in the fire, we lit a fire... complicated for adults as well, and there were plenty of craft to get imagination flying. Have a wonderful experience myself!! Child was happy as well!

Plenty to see here 👍. The hide was a bit noisy though as someone was checking what their group had seen from a long checklist. They could have done that back at the visitor center. Anyway there were lots of warblers around, saw a couple of Little Ringed Plovers and the Parakeets were very active. Nice calm oasis.

This vibrant area is home to creative businesses, vintage shops, colorful street art, bars, and restaurants. Additionally, the venue hosts various events throughout the year and provides excellent facilities with clean surroundings and helpful staff.
well worth a visit if you like top quality graffiti murals. good food joints and cold beers sold at various venues. I visit here each time I come to Birmingham. this country could do with more digbeths.

The service is excellent, we were well directed to suitable games and they got us in early. Unfortunately the food was diabolically bad, almost as bad as I've ever been served. We ordered an array of batterred items eg cauliflower and other bits. They were incredibly salty and slightly overdone on the outside with raw batter on the inside. Clearly someone had been heavy handed with the salt then not checked. Also the oil was far far too hot and burned the outside and left inside raw. Unless of course they were done from frozen in a hurry. We tried some of it but even though hungry left it except for our burned popcorn chicken, paid out £76 and left.
DXX M — Google review
I had a walk around here to see the Ozzy Osbourne mural. The graffiti is amazing, the vibe is really urban and gritty but there's also a lot of cool bars and restaurants. It's a short walk from digbeth coach station and a little further from the bullring. It's well worth a visit if you're either an Ozzy Osbourne/black Sabbath fan or if you just like graffiti and cool bars and restaurants! I got some nice photos but I want to return to check the area more thoroughly.

Went here today for the 'Cheese Fest at Custard Factory' and it was really good!! Lots of different good stalls and plenty of cheese varieties. Considering it was £5 ticket it was well worth it and didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was good and food stalls were lush 😍

Attended charity fundraising abseil on behalf of Birmingham Parkinson's Society, using the Custard Factory's Greenhouse wall on Gibb Street, Digbeth. Safety was to the fore, with stringent measures in place on the ground, on the roof & for every abseiler. Abseilers went up the elevator to the roof in small groups, providing enthusiastic support as one by one they went over the edge & down the wall. Excellent training & guidance provided by abseil pros. Fascinating area around the Custard Factory, with many arty cafés, restaurants & shops, the area also famous for its graffiti artwork. Original cobbles cause difficulties for those of us with mobility issues (I changed shoes 3 times) but fortunately found a small car park with a single disabled parking spot (!) on Gibb Street itself. Suggest checking parking prior to arriving in the area, a mix of narrow 1-way streets, broader streets with on-street parking, & larger car parks a little further from the centre. The Custard Factory itself wasn't open. A shame as I'd have loved to explore the history of the area further.

Not very good I'm afraid. Most if not all the little shops and venues didn't open until midday. I was there at 10am I didn't even bother to wait I just left. Its okay if you're a student who ad sent a night on the beer, don't get up till lunch time. There was just not a lot to do. Sorry but a thumbs down from me.

We eat at Sobremesa, a vegan restaurant in the courtyard at the custard factory. This is an excellent place to visit and eat al fresco. Service was the best thing about this bar/restaurant. Spud and the lady with the lovely Irish accent were lovely. The food was nice and really good for both vegan or non vegan customers. I would highly recommend it and we will definitely be returning soon

Quite a small space, which won’t take much of your time. Welcoming greeter. I went on the 'from canals and Victorian's to today's city' tour yesterday and would highly recommend it. Jonathan was an excellent guide, we were told lots of interesting facts and covered quite a lot of ground. Headphones are used, which means that you can easily hear everything that's being said. I'm not familiar with Birmingham and this tour allowed me to see parts of the city that I wouldn't otherwise have seen. The route that we followed was well thought out and passed a good mix of sights. Definitely worth the price!

Very informative and enjoyable experience with Jonathan as our guide. His knowledge of the area was extensive, and his manner and sense of humour made our 2 hours most enjoyable. We learned so much. Really liked how Jonathan welcomed any questions we had and took the time to give considered answers from his vast knowledge and experience of the area. I’d strongly recommend this your any visitor who has a couple of hours to spare and would like to know about the past, present, and potential future of the Digbeth area. 😊👍
Graham M — Google review
What a brilliant tour! Jonathan, the organiser as well as our guide on the day, is a very approachable and knowledgeable person who treated us like old friends, with a group photo to boot. We had overseas visitors on our tour, some of whom couldn't speak much English, but Jonathan kept them involved by relating aspects of Birmingham to their home country. Indeed, along with his wit, Jonathan adapts his narrative to the audience to keep them engaged. Although a walking tour, we didn't find it physically taxing at all as most of the attractions are centrally based. We went on a very gentle amble, and with audio headsets, it didn't matter if we lagged a little behind. We learned both historical and geographical facts about Birmingham that have made it a leading city in the world for industrial and cultural innovation, including references to bands that have achieved wide international fame. Whilst having been on many tours around the world, this is the first one where we have been handed a substantial complimentary tour guide (produced by Jonathan) at the end and where prizes have been handed out along the way.

I was like a bull at a gate when I saw this tour (pun intended). Seriously though, it was great and such good value for money! I learnt so much on it. I had no idea that Birmingham was the no.1 city in the UK for public art, for instance. What's interesting though is that even though I'm Australian there were so many locals from Brum and the area on it. In addition to showing us all the sites, we got a free book and Jonathan also went out of his way to recommend me a great spot for me to have lunch at, at the university. Thanks so much. Would recommend to any one going to Birmingham or any one already there any time! I also did the Canals & Victorians to Today’s City, which I'd also recommend.

Bishop Asbury Cottage is a historic site dating back to the early 1700s and holds significance as the childhood home of Francis Asbury, the first American Methodist Bishop. The cottage is preserved in its original style, offering a glimpse into the past, and features memorabilia showcasing Asbury's life and career in West Bromwich. Visitors can explore Methodist history in the Black Country and learn about John Wesley's legacy while gaining insights into the local heritage.
A little known character from Black Country history lived here in the second half of the 18th century. Little known because his story is "the story of American Methodism". American Methodists today visit to remember him. He was one of very few Englishmen allowed to stay in America during the Civil war. Met George Washington. Never had a home of his own, spent his life on the road, building the American church from 1771. A great Black Country story.

The Coffin Works, located in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, is a unique museum that offers a glimpse into the history of coffin making. Once a thriving firm established by the Newman Brothers in 1882, it now stands as a museum filled with original stock and tools from its heyday. Visitors can experience the restored machinery and witness firsthand how exquisite coffin furniture was crafted for notable funerals throughout history.
It may seem strange and macabre to go to this but it isn't at all. It's more about the manufacturing process and the machines used. The volunteers are all really helpful and informative. I thought I would be in and out in 15 minutes but they made it so interesting I was there for a hour. It is a well preserved factory showing the history of one of the great manufscturing companies that used to be in Birmingham.

Wonderful afternoon exploring this museum. Absolute time capsule within Birmingham telling the story of how coffins were made, decorated and shrouds made. An absolute must for any taphophile. Seeing the sewing machines, working press and shrouds was great however the smaller details really touched home. The worn wooden floor where years of workers tread. The seats with indents of women who sat for years sewing shrouds. The daily tea orders noted down. The glasses and shoes in the office. The owner, staff and volunteers are all friendly welcoming and knowledgeable. Small cafe was lovely with a variety of drinks and snacks.

I had an enjoyable couple of hours at this museum with an informative tour from Andy and a cuppa in the cafe during which I spoke to a number of the lovely staff. It's rare to come across a place with such a vibe so keep it up and thanks for the hospitality!

Went to this museum spontaneously with a friend and we both came back feeling really awkward... Staff was generally friendly but gave us no clue where to start or where to go. We had no idea. We decided to just start somewhere, only to have someone come after us telling us the 'right order' of the rooms to visit. Volunteers sat in silence, did barely respond to questions even though we were encouraged to ask questions before. We left early because we felt really uncomfortable. I have never experienced this in a museum and do not recommend this place at all.

Went for a 5 K jog on the recommendation of local friends. Wonderful place in the sun. Mostly tarmac paths with some gravel ones. Watch out for the cows. I have heard that there are ponies as well. Parking is free at the moment. However, where I parked, I needed to be aware of potholes in the parking areas. One nasty one on the narrow entrance road. But don't let that put you off. Get there and enjoy it in the sun.

It’s a really beautiful park. Honestly, anyone who visits and gets a chance to try the grilled calamari here will find it worth it. The atmosphere is incredible, and it’s also right by the lake, which adds to the charm. It’s a very scenic spot. There’s a restaurant nearby in case anyone gets hungry, and overall, the park is huge. Behind it, there’s also a forest — as you can probably tell from the photo — where you might feel like you could get lost, but in reality, it’s easy to find your way back. The landscape is stunning and perfect for anyone who’s craving a bit of adventure. If I had to point out something negative, it would be because of animals like cows and others roaming around, which means there’s quite a lot of droppings scattered around. I think it needs to be cleaned more regularly so the park can reach its full potential. Even so, if you live nearby, it’s a great place to visit every weekend, especially since options are limited. In general, it just needs a bit of cleaning — maybe during the week. But overall, it’s a wonderful place to visit

It's a very extensive park. The park is huge and there's a chance you can definitely get lost if you go off the main paths, but there is some signage. Nevertheless, it's a very beautiful park and great for exploring and getting in touch with nature. There was some decent foliage, but I found most off the beaten paths. Managed to capture a few photos on my visit.

I've been coming to Sutton Park for years with it being local to me. Over the last few months I've started getting keen in Wildlife Photography particularly birds. Pictured are some of the birds/wildlife I've seen on my walks recently. There have been many more. Listed are, Mandarin Duck, Blackcap, Song Thrush, Robin, Buzzard. I have seen many other species of birds, although not photographed yet

The best and highlight of my trip to Birmingham! The park is so beautiful and peaceful, it has plenty of entrances, has cows grazing and has a few cafe and restaurants in the park itself.

So much to see here, you can take a different direction and take in all the new sights. Plus there is kids parks, ice cream vans and plenty of parking around ❤️

Kind of stumbled on the nature reserve park while trying to locate another park and ended up loving it. Got to see some ponies which was my first time seeing them and learnt a bit of the British history as at the 18th century and how 'Bowers' were constructed as channels to entice ducks for shooting. It’s a perfect place for hiking and jogging. I almost got lost tho😅 The land space is quite massive. Walked on a river bed which was already dried, knew from the pebbles. Totally enjoyed the walk and kicking pebbles as I went

The Birmingham Repertory Theatre, established in 1913, has been a prominent cultural institution in the city. The venue, which moved to Broad Street in the 1970s, has hosted legendary actors such as Laurence Olivier and Kenneth Branagh. While it no longer maintains an in-house repertory cast, under the artistic direction of Jonathan Church, it became a leading force in Birmingham's theatrical scene.
Such an amazing theatre, because of the shape every seat has a good view. The staff are super friendly, the only downside is the cost of refreshments, a 330ml can of water was £2. Still, I need to give 5 stars though because it's such a good venue.

Visited on a Friday evening for the first time. It was a family visit to watch Hold Onto Your Butts and we had a great evening. We pre paid for drinks and snacks online and collected at the bar which was useful and saved time for sure. Staff were lovely. Seats were comfortable for our visit which was a 75 minute showing with no interval. There is a cloakroom for those wishing to use it.

Fabulous theatre my favourite in Birmingham, staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend the lounge experience when going to see a show worth paying extra to have a place to relax before a show and during interval no queues

I was there for the British Open Squash Championships, it’s a fantastic venue, loads of helpful staff, busy bars and easy access. By far the best pace I’ve watched squash, comfy seats and a fantastic view.

I've walked past and read what's on loads of times however this time stopped and booked a show. We loved Inspector Morse TV show, and this is what caught my eye, booking was so easy and ordered interval drinks. Show time was the afternoon matinee, and we arrived on time to collect the tickets and take the seats. Row E was just about perfect , close enough to hear and see clearly however to be honest the theater is small enough to sit anywhere and have a fabulous view. I will definitely recommend this place and be booking more shows.

Went to see Morse recently , easy to get to ( used the tram ) ,good location plenty of bars and eateries nearby. Theatre is well maintained, some of most comfortable chairs of theatres in vicinity.with good leg room. Sound and presentation excellent, good value for money. Would recommend a visit depending on your choice of genre.

Soho House Museum, once the elegant residence of industrialist Matthew Boulton, offers a glimpse into late Georgian period fashion and style. The beautifully restored house showcases Boulton's exquisite ormolu and silver pieces, reflecting his influence on Birmingham's industrial development. Visitors can explore the nearby factory where Boulton produced various items and collaborated with James Watt to develop the steam engine. This historical gem provides insight into the life and work of one of Birmingham's renowned figures.
Lovely , quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Volunteers were very knowledgeable and I learn about many facts regarding Soho house. There were a tall gentleman with grey hair and a lady with a beautiful flower cord over the hair and they tell us different interesting things about Lunar society , about Birmingham in that time. That make me feel proud of the city I live in.The museum looks great and take us in 17th-18th century. In every room were panels where you can read about what that room shown and other few important informations. Museum are laying on ground and first floor where you can reach by using the stairs or using the lift. On the other wing by the house is a Cafe where you can have a ground coffee, tea, cakes, fruits, drinks. You can serve it in or out in the little garden. Also, anyone can enjoying doing some crafts while having a hit/cold drink. There is a little garden and also parking, including for disabled people. Despite that Soho House is located by Soho road which is a very busy road there was so much quietness and peaceful. I couldnt believe I'm just by the main road and the sounds can penetrate the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere here. I would definitely be back soon and spend more time here.

Only went once back in 2010 around 14 years ago. At the time had to sign photo release form. This was before the Birmingham Museums Trust was formed. Sad to hear it's now closed for maintenance. Used to be a cafe here. Also the Soho House sphinxes was moved back here years ago. Only saw them at BM & AG in early 2010s.

Had a lovely picnic last Sunday. We set off Handsworth choir sang well. An orchestra entertained us while we are. There was arty crafty stuff going on and entrance to the house was free, it was great meeting friends. There was a lovely cake for the 100th anniversary of the civic society. We lazed on the grass, watched people play croquet, dribbling football, having a good time. We didn't go in the hall but some of the guys came out in costume. It's strange that in the way there we asked people who didn't know where it was. They need to leaflet

Our guide, Ali, was very knowledgeable and very interesting. It's great to have a museum dedicated to such a important aspect of Birmingham history. As we entered, it was clear that a children's activity had been taking place, but the house itself had plenty to occupy our attention too, as a much older generation.

We were so disappointed that the house was closed because of a plumbing issue. I have been waiting 3 years to visit during my trips to Birmingham and this time holidays did not block it. With all the birmingham industrial age history crammed into the new museum, this is the only place left to get a feel of the historic importance of bham.

Woodgate Valley Country Park, spanning over 450 acres of parkland, meadows, and woodland, offers a serene escape from the urban hustle and bustle of Birmingham. The park's rural charm is preserved through its diverse natural habitats and small pond that attract nature enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the numerous footpaths and bridleways or engage in pony trekking. The park also features an urban farm with various animals, providing a unique experience for families and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
Quiet place for a walk. Nature beauty, natural rivers, greenery, horse riding, trekking were some of the activities you can enjoy here. Get fully recharged with fresh air and reduce stress.

Overall, it's a quaint and nice country park for walking and cycling. As is visible in the photos, there is a lush field area with horses, followed by a split path through a more densely wooded set of trails. It was a short but pleasant walk. Unfortunately the visitors centre seems to be temporarily closed when I visited. The trails are quite short, so it is more of a nice area for walking pets or light activity. Therefore, it's much less suitable for hiking and more intense trail enthusiasts. To summarise (despite the lack of the visitor centre), it was a short but enjoyable walk with some nice aesthetic points that kept me busy for a few hours. It's definitely worth a visit if it's a nice day and you're local to the area, but probably not worth travelling vast distances to experience.

We adore it here with my little one (18 months). The farm is only £2 to enter with lots of lovely animals to see and feed if you want to, food for them just 50p a bag. If you don't fancy the farm the walk down and along the stream is lovely and flat so ideal for any age (there is a slight incline returning to the car park but is very scenic so can amble along). Play area for littles is also lovely.

Woodgate Valley is a lovely spot for a peaceful walk, especially on a sunny day. The open meadows, winding paths, and wooded areas make it perfect for a gentle stroll. The highlight has to be seeing the ponies grazing in the fields they add so much charm and make the walk feel even more special. With birdsong, wildlife, and well kept trails, it’s a calm and friendly place to enjoy nature close to home. A very pleasant way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Absolutely incredible place to spot for aviation lovers. Great for departures out of 33 or arrivals into 15. Lots of open space so you can get a good view. Lovely open park which is great for walking dogs. Small play area at the one end of the park (by old rectory farm) and some animals you are able to see for free. If you take a short walk (around 10-15 mins) to the other side of the park, you will see the airport and a viewing area for planes. Free car parking by old rectory farm and also a nice flat path/trail that is suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Overall a lovely place for a walk!

Nestled just a half-hour drive southwest of Birmingham, Waseley Hills Country Park is a sprawling 150-acre haven for nature lovers and families alike. This dog-friendly parkland boasts an array of scenic trails perfect for both leisurely strolls and invigorating hikes, allowing you to soak in the stunning panoramic views that stretch from Worcestershire to Birmingham.
Waseley Hills is a fabulous location for those looking for scenic walks, a cosy café spot, or a spacious outdoor play area for children. When you arrive at the Waseley Hills Visitor Centre, you’ll find plenty of parking and very clean toilet facilities. Since I have friends living in Worcester and Birmingham and I’m based in Wolverhampton, we find this location to be a convenient and central meeting point. There are plenty of walking routes, and some that are pushchair-friendly. The children’s play area is lovely and spacious, offering a great environment for little ones to burn off energy. A lovely park to have a walk/hike around. Be warned cows do occupy some of the friends, so be cautious with smaller kids and dogs. The park benefits from clear trails, public toliets, a café, picnic area, playground and a carpark. The carpark costs £3 for the day, which seems expensive, however the park is well maintained. Visitors can explore well-maintained paths and enjoy seasonal bedding schemes around the main house and conservatory.
A hidden gem. Walked through this park recently and was surprised to see it's been very well maintained and beautifully planted (in traditional city council park style). Loads of people using the facilities with families and dogs all having fun. Free parking too and a cafe with facilities.

Very nice park which is well maintained and tidy. Park has access to a garden centre which is a lovely touch and also has toilet facilities on site too, which is always a plus! Park is flat and has a clear path so is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs which again is a massive positive. Overall a lovely park which is worth a look if you are in the area. The only downside is car parks are small. The park has two, which is excellent but both are narrow and if driving a moderately sized vehicle, you may find it a bit fiddly to get in and out! Just something to keep in mind.

A popular park, deservedly so. Well kept with very varied areas. We love the woodland walk, the bird song was beautiful. The pond area is lovely, we sat there having a take away coffee, listening and watching the water birds. So much to enjoy. Two childrens'areas, very popular. Lots of seasonal flowers, starting with carpets of snow drops, followed by crocus, daffodils etc. Our only regret is that what used to be called 'The T.V. garden" is not open to the public.

Such a beautiful park when it is looked after by the locals, unfortunately the last visit wasn’t very pleasant as there was litter quite literally everywhere you took a step, more shockingly around where the kids play area is although adults were present but happily sat around mess, we need to make the changes and encourage but more importantly to lead by example, show the future generations the expectations of cleanliness

It's a beautiful park but sadly with Birmingham council not paying the poor Noble bin men and rubbish cleaners their wages after taking 40% of our salaries as taxes, the whole park has become rubbish tip despite local residents trying their best to collect rubbish themselves in and put it in the bags atleast. I'm seriously disappointed with incompetent management of our council, it's very shameful. They take full taxes from us, then terrorise the poor union with job and pay cuts and then don't provided public with rightful service. Council has gone too far 🤧 in not carrying out its duties properly. Children are playing in such unhygienic environment. Is government going to take responsibility if illnesses and plague spreads due to their bad action plans? Rats the size of dogs and cats are running amok and chewing our car wires in the car park.

Nestled just a short 15-minute journey from Birmingham city center, Handsworth Park is a stunning 63-acre green oasis that beautifully marries history with modern leisure. Originally established in 1888 as Victoria Park, this Grade II listed gem underwent an impressive restoration in 2006, thanks to significant lottery funding. Visitors can wander through its meticulously landscaped grounds adorned with vibrant flower beds and majestic mature trees.
I want to write an extensive review of this park because there are so many features worth mentioning. I had the pleasure to spend a windy but sunny winter morning in this expansive park, which is a haven for nature enthusiasts and families. It is well-maintained with plenty of litter bins and dog waste bins scattered around. The park offers clear walking and running paths. Numerous benches are scattered throughout, providing perfect spots to relax and a welcoming escape. The family-friendly environment is evident, with easy access from multiple entry points and a fairly big car park by the Holly Road entrance. The lush greenery and big lake by the Hamstead Road entrance, populated with geese and other birds, enhance the park's natural charm. There is another, smaller, lake by the cricket ground. For children, there's a well-equipped playground that promises hours of fun. Sports fans will appreciate the basketball, football, and cricket grounds available. Additionally, the park boasts vibrant murals that add a splash of color and creativity to the surroundings. There's also a mile-long blue walk line, designed to help and encourage people to lead a healthy lifestyle, perfect for a leisurely stroll or an invigorating jog. There's one drawback: the lack of public toilets. This can be a bit inconvenient for visitors, especially those with young children. I believe there are some in the leisure centre but if it is close, you won't have access. Overall this park is truly a place that enriches the lives of the local communities and reminds us of the beauty and tranquility that nature provides.

The park doubles up as a Local Nature Reserve, with plants brook running through the middle.
This is my favourite local place. It covers 198 acres of green belt countryside, through Pype Hayes, Walmley, Wylde Green and Sutton Coldfield. It is an important nature reserve consisting of historic wetland grazing meadows, Plants Brook stream and a number of listed buildings, including the first moated house built in England and a fully functioning water mill. Plenty of well kept paths to enjoy and lots of nature to see. Been visiting here for many years but 2020 is the first year, I have been able to see the fish so clearly, swimming in the brook. Wonderful ❤

We love our new walking spot- quite often can get parked. Sadly, lots of litter at times but says more about the few who do - as most don't. Will pick it up at times when possible. Friendly dog walkers (most of the time 😂) can be very muddy in parts but to do expected this time of year

Nice area and place, easy access to the location and parking was available also. Lovely place for dogs and casual walks. Would definitely recommend for dog walking. Also accessible for those in wheelchairs or with pushchairs. Only downside was park was not maintained as well as could be, lots of long grass, muddy verges etc which could be better looked after.

Such a lovely place to walk around with family and the dog. We still have so much left to explore there.
Stella C — Google review
Beautiful place to go for a walk especially with your dogs, enjoyable walks and trails, plenty of bins for rubbish and dog poop, clean and tidy area kept well, also good for children and cyclists, nice stream to follow and paddle in for the dogs on warm days
Tony — Google review
This park is beautiful and pristine, it is good place for a long walk. There were lots of friendly local families, couples and dog walkers getting their steps in! Will definitely be revisiting and exploring further 🤗

I've recently been traveling to many of the green spaces around North Birmingham in search of wildlife. Although this is a small country park, the abundance of wildlife is there to see. Today I have Blackcap, Long Tailed Tit, Buzzard, Whitethroat, Parakeets, Chiffchaffs (all in my photos) other birds I have seen on my walk include, Goldfinches, Robins, Wrens, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Magpies, Crows and I heard that a muntjac deer was seen today as well. Newhall Valley Country Park is a hidden paradise in an urban area.

Beautiful place, plenty of walks and scenery. I feel very lucky to have this place on my doorstep 😊

Nature & Parks
Cofton Park is a 135-acre green space that offers expansive grassy areas, a central woodland, football fields, and a play area. It provides opportunities for various recreational activities with its hills, diverse terrain, ancient oak trees, and scenic views of Warwickshire and Worcestershire. The park is clean and frequented by dog walkers and children enjoying the play area. Football matches and other sports clubs also utilize the pitches. The only lacking aspect is the absence of toilet facilities.
Such a nice and peaceful green field, we just wanted to have a walk in the nice weather and this is absolutely beyond our expectations! Gorgeous view and it’s very good for dogs. I’m planning to have a picnic here in June.

I visited the Pride of Longbridge event. It's a lovely place to visit summer or winter.
Bernard R — Google review
Lovely open space good for mini or large events. Nice place to sit relax and get some lovely sun in with View that stretch far and beyond. Quiet and also good for dog walkers also parking available around the park also

A very big park which is great for walking the dog, there is a wooded area and a playground for children also. The playground includes a small zip line. My dog loves it here as there is so much space, you can do a long walk round here. They sometimes hold events here also like the pretty muddy fun run and sometimes the fairground is here also.

Lovely park with huge open spaces. Great for picnics or dog walking. Very close to the lickeys as well which is a lovely country park. I visited while the pride of longbridge car show was on. A great venue for this being opposite the old Austin works.
Michael R — Google review
Beautiful park ,you feel as if you are out in the country we went to the pride of Longbridge show , but we have been in the past just to walk around the park . They have a nice children's playground to keep the little ones occupied. They have toilet facilities but they are not always open . Nice place to walk your dog or for exercise yourself .
Ann P — Google review
Great Park, lots of beautiful trees to provide plenty of shade. Great natural pathways to follow especially if walking a dog.
Michelle W — Google review
We've done pride of long bridge in 2016 and 2019 and really enjoy the day you cant beat showing off some of the amazing British cars that were built here. Would be even better if mg would allow us to park in the factory grounds for the show. But the park is always lovely and tidy.

Manor Farm Park is a local gem located in Birmingham, UK, and was once part of George Cadbury's farmland estate. The park boasts a picturesque lake, woodlands, and waterfalls for visitors to explore. While there are currently no toilets or refreshment facilities available, plans are underway to provide these amenities. The park offers ample space for walking, cycling, and play, with a playground for children to enjoy.
Great park for all ages! Ideal for a walk, run, or just relaxing. There’s a lovely playground for kids, plenty of space for dogs, and a large lake surrounded by big trees and greenery. Peaceful, clean, and perfect for a quick visit or a longer stay. Highly recommend! Follow more of my reviews and activities on Instagram: @h_bermani

Lovely park. Wish it had a cafe and community hub though. There are buildings that can be used for such and it would definitely attract more people to the park. Playground is nice and is a very good park to walk your dog

Lovely local park, family friendly. Always clean lots of dog walkers the vast majority responsible and pick up after their dogs. Nice pond with plenty of wildlife. On the 25th Mar 21 spotted a deer in Manor picture added.

It is our local park and we love it because it offers a variety of landscapes and areas. It is very well maintained, so it is a pleasure to go daily with our dog.

Nice park. Nice to see some wildlife around. Has a small car park. A small but nice play area for kids.

A good local park. No toilets or refreshments (yet - plans are in progress) but parking, plenty of space to walk, cycle, and play. There's a playground and a lake with ducks and geese, and an orchard as well as wooded and open areas.

Lovely park with lots of open spaces, a large pond with woodland walk and a children's play area. Lots of dog walkers around and activities for families. No toilets or cafe.
Deb L — Google review
A little oasis of calm by the busy A38 with a lovely children's playground and a little pond fed by a little brook that crosses the park. Perfect for a little stroll or walking the dogs. There's a dedicated car park just off the A38 but there's also street parking available on the roads next to the park.

Park
Ward End Park is a large park located in the heart of the city with many activities for all ages. It has a lake with fishing and two playgrounds, as well as gardens and an amphitheatre. The park is well-maintained and often used by the community, with cricket games, volleyball, cycling casual and serious walkers trekking around at different times of the day. The pond suffers from neglect at times but is generally clean.
A great park for walkers, dog walkers, cyclist, kids and all ages. Some kids were playing cricket, some of them playing football and some of them were busy in exercise. Clean and well maintained park. There are some charges for parking. Luckily I got space outside the park.
AJMAL K — Google review
Lovely park for both children and adults. On Sunday mornings 9am the Children's Park Run takes place. Makes a great alternative activity morning for the kids to build healthy habits, run, meet new people and play. Not given full 5 stars as the rubbish and public tipping is getting out of hand and harming the local wildlife. If someone from the council is reading this please do something about it. 🙏
Bushra A — Google review
The work undertaken at the park is brilliant. Much more welcoming. Cleaner,.better. dolphin centre is coming out of the dark ages. Can't wait for the park to be fully completed. Very excited.

Nice and big park. Have water, ducks 🦆, greenery, walking track and swings for kids

Very impressed at the recent improvements....like the dolphin House and an amazing hidden pathway to walk down, you wouldn't think it's waswhood heath.

Nice park. Haven't had the chance to walk round it fully but what I have seen is okay I guess. Its definitely not maintained. Rubbish left Iying around everywhere. Not many bins nor benches. Dog walkers seriously need to learn to pick up after themselves. Besides that it's somewhat okay for what it is. But it needs improving.
Cass P — Google review
Beautiful park I have previously walked through the park on a couple of occasions but today there was a bug fair and festival type thing going on so I went over to have a look and spent the best part of the day here had a great time.

It is a nice park however its quite dirty and messy and also stinks near the ducks , the water definitely needs cleaning
