Modern art museum
The Art Museum of South Texas (AMST) is a vital part of the Corpus Christi arts community, located along North Shoreline Boulevard with stunning views of Corpus Christi Bay. The museum houses over 1,900 permanent works including regional fine art, photography, and crafts. Visitors can explore diverse art forms such as paintings, photographs, sculptures, glasswork, ceramics, and large installations that showcase the rich artistic heritage of the Americas and Texas region.
We loved it. It was our first time to visit despite living here all our lives. The art was beautiful and the atmosphere was calming. We will definitely go again. There were even a few pieces by Picasso.
Leslie R — Google review
While we were visiting Corpus Christi, we came across the art museum, it was a building showcasing some local talent, and art pieces from abroad. We had a great time learning about the history of the city. The art pieces were unique and did represent the south Texas and it culture. So if your looking for something to do then this is your place to sight see for easily over an hour.
Abraham M — Google review
This gorgeous space was designed by architect Philip Johnson and is a lovely environment to experience art. The building really harmonizes with its location on the waters edge of Corpus Christi Bay. Although the museum seems to be dedicated primarily to contemporary art, there is a small but very high quality permanent collection of Spanish Colonial art.
Susanna G — Google review
Great deal! $10 for a good chunk of art, SUPER reasonably priced stuff in the gift shop. I was surprised and grateful that the souvenirs were affordable. The staff was really friendly. The place was wheelchair accessible, except the 3rd floor which had loose carpet that made it a little harder to wheel around and a narrow walkway around the conference tables. The wheelchairs they provide for patrons were also unusually narrow so I'd recommend bringing your own or calling ahead to see if they've remedied that if you are large and need to borrow a chair.
Claudia — Google review
The Art Museum of South Texas, in Corpus Christi had their Third Thursday event and we decided to go. A smallish museum it is full of beautiful works of art. Was an enjoyable event.
Genie H — Google review
Small but beautifully curated museum – great lighting, thoughtful layout, and stunning ocean Definitely worth spending 1–2 hours to enjoy the art and the vibe.
Đặng Á — Google review
Excellent art museum. The display of art is very well presented. It is a first class museum.
Laura — Google review
The museum has a beautiful location on the bay. It's a very nice building with kind workers. The museum was smaller than I thought it would be...you can make it through in an hour or so, and the "photography is art" exhibit was a little underwhelming, in my opinion. However, like most arts, it's subjective and you may love it. That said, the permanent exhibits were beautiful...I especially liked the Spanish/Texan/Mexican art area and the sculptures. Upstairs they had work from local school children and some are very talented. It was fun to see what the local kids can do too!

The South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center is a vast educational facility showcasing a diverse range of plant and animal life. Visitors can participate in classes and guided tours to learn more about the local flora and fauna. In addition to this attraction, the area offers other points of interest such as the Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens, Hans and Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge, Redfish Bay for fishing enthusiasts, and the nearby Pharaoh's golf course.
This place is so beautiful and relaxing… the volunteers working there are so dedicated to care for the animals and garden. We met Jorge…a master orchid gardener. What a pleasure to listen to him about the history and care of this exotic species! They have the most amazing orchids plants we have ever seen.🥰 Many are for sale too! If you come to Corpus Christi you have to come here 💯 recommend it.
Miriam O — Google review
We enjoyed our visit. The orchids and butterfly house are beautiful. There is a small reptiles/animal area, the staff is very friendly and you can hold one of the snakes if you want. There is a small loop trail that we enjoyed and a longer trail which we did not have time for. The location is not huge, but it is definitely worth the visit. Our only disappointment was there is a miltary discount ticket price listed but when we asked for it as a retired Army family we were informed it is only for active duty military. However, even at full price $10 is worth it.
Leslie H — Google review
This is an expansive botanical and wildlife center with mainly reptiles. There are walking paths to the wetlands on boardwalks with an elevated birding platform and a butterfly pavilion. The paths have a considerable amount of shade to make walking pleasant even in the heat of summer. Plenty of parking in front of the center. It’s also a part of the American Horticultural Society reciprocal admissions program if you are visiting.
L L — Google review
Very cool place. One of the most beautiful in all of Corpus Christi. would highly recommend. they have some funny parrots and some large tortoise as well.
Jacob G — Google review
This was my first time going here. I was pleasantly surprised. For the harsh south Texas weather this place has all kinds of beautiful flowers with plentiful walking trails where you can experience the natural terrain and the indigenous wildlife that are abundant in this area. Very well kept and maintained. Lots of shaded places where you can sit a while and take a break from the hot Texas sun. Plus I got plenty of ideas how I can create my own little oasis at my own personal property. It's a must see.
Marco C — Google review
Love them. They have literally miles of hiking trails (though I do recommend shoes better than flip flops like we wore, lol) and it's not just pretty flowers, which they have in abundance and I could spend time just on that, but they are also a true nature preserve for both flora and fauna. Truly something to experience for yourself
Gary W — Google review
Beautiful garden, wonderful animal exhibits and a great early morning summer activity. While it was 90+ degrees we had lots of shady spots to stop and rest. Very kind and caring staff, and low cost for families.
Tyler S — Google review
I loved seeing all the different gardens. The birds and reptiles were fun, too. The tortoises were large. My favorite was the orchid house.

The USS Lexington, also known as The Blue Ghost, is a renowned WWII aircraft carrier and naval museum located in Corpus Christi. Commissioned in 1943, it played a significant role in the Pacific War during World War II. In 1992, it was transformed into a naval aviation museum to educate the public about its historical significance and its contributions to national defense.
This was a great experience with so much to see! We went in during the month of July. While some parts are air conditioned, other areas can be pretty warm, so dress accordingly. Admission was very fair considering the amount of time that was spent here and the variety of exhibits. They do have a decent concession area, as well as a few vending machines with drinks spread across the main deck. The photo ops were super fun for the kids, and there are many resting points throughout the tours, too! Definitely worth checking out if you need something to do in Corpus Christi!
Tiffany B — Google review
Visiting the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi was an unforgettable experience. The ship is massive and full of history, with well-preserved exhibits and interactive sections. One of the highlights was meeting Richard in the engine room he took the time to explain how the carrier operated and shared fascinating personal anecdotes. Talking with him truly brought the ship to life and made the visit even more special. If you're in the area, don’t miss this piece of naval history and the chance to meet passionate people like Richard.
Arthur J — Google review
Definitely a must to go see, but plan most of the day if you want to see it all, it's a big ship. They have bathrooms, cafeteria, a movie theater and a gift shop of course. Best if you don't go during the heat of the summer, not many cool spots. But if you don't mind sweating go ahead, they do have a little cooler spots here and there. Fun for the whole family and a big part of history.
Darren L — Google review
My kids enjoyed the tour ages 16 and 11. The tour took about 2 hrs. It’s self guided. In a world where kids are glued to their phones and social media it captured their attention. I do not recommend this tour for toddlers, heels, dressy clothing or people with walking restrictions. Their is a lot of climbing (ladder style stairs). Dont forget to take your free picture, it cost $35 for the print out but the digital versions using the QR code are free. Parking was $5 directly across the street. It’s so much to do in the area so bring beach stuff, strollers etc to enjoy the day in the surrounding area.
Ask A — Google review
This place was super cool. I went in with no expectations and half way mediocre experience. However, this place was a delight to visit. Whether you like big ships, or are a history buff this place is for you. Not only is it a museum with TONS to look at, you also get to explore an aircraft carrier (top deck, below deck through tiny corridors, etc). The only things I would warn about is some of the areas do not have air conditioning and the air is stagnant. So be prepared for some HOT areas during the summer. Some of the stairwells are very narrow and steep (but it added to the experience for me, but some individuals with mobility issues may struggle). All in all, great experience and blew me away. The escape rooms are great too!!! Check them out (they include admission to the ship) and let you do escape rooms IN the ship!
Gage S — Google review
Went here a few weeks ago. Kid friendly. This place was absolutely amazing. They have 5 different tours to choose from and they explain everything about the ship, to the crew, the historical aspects, military honor, they even have a section on here about Pearl Harbor. Be prepared to learn about the history. If you want to get your steps in for the day, this is the place. Spent 5 hours here and walked over 10K steps. Highly recommend this for a day trip.
Scott S — Google review
Great experience! There is a lot to learn not only about this ship, but a few others as well as about the crews that lived aboard. Note that while walking through the below decks, there are a few rooms that are very cold, which I would think would be a good break in between on the hotter days. It does take a good amount of time to walk and to listen/read everything.
Thomas F — Google review
This historic ship is worth visiting, offering a wealth of experiences from World War II in 1943. It contains so much information that no school, college, or even university will tell you in detail for your knowledge if you are as passionate about history as I am. A unique experience to live through, as it shows you what life was like at that time and what the crew was like in combat during those war years. Take your family so your children can see what history is all about.

Aquarium
Nature & Parks
The Texas State Aquarium is a top-notch destination for exploring the diverse marine life of the region. With 18 exhibits showcasing a wide array of sea creatures, visitors can marvel at everything from enormous fish tanks housing global species to recreated habitats like Swamp Tales and Tortuga Cay. The aquarium also offers live shows featuring well-trained dolphins demonstrating impressive tricks and stunts, as well as entertaining bird performances.
A must visit!!! Our whole family loved this. It was a great way to entertain everyone and stay cool during the day. They had plenty of food and drink options, so much to see, and the bathrooms were clean and well maintained. The cost is completely worth the visit. Our favorite part was definitely the dolphins! They were lively and seemed happy. All the animals were well kept and they had so many eels to see (my personal favorite).
Kelsie P — Google review
This was such an amazing visit! It is a bit on the pricy side (+$7 parking) but it’s worth it since the money goes to help the rescue and animals! I went during a weekday so it wasn’t packed at all. I was only planning on staying for an hour or two and ended up staying until close. I was able to catch the dolphin show at 3pm, which was magnificent!! The water is beautiful from there. They have swings where you can relax and watch the water or the USS Lexington, which is right next door! The aquarium itself has so many cool fish and staff who truly love their job! They are attentive and informative! I loved my visit here and would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting!
Neil D — Google review
Beautiful way to spend a very hot day. I'm a total aquarium nerd, and this was a treat! Lots of good info on the various species. Animals are healthy and happy. The dolphin show was so cute, you can tell they are having a blast!
Kym H — Google review
Absolutely loved the dolphins show! Also, the otters are so fun to watch. Very interesting and informative. My grandchildren enjoyed everything. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the price. I understand the animals have needs and I love that they rehabilitate a lot of them. But, it was $300 for 3 adults and 2 children. We stayed 2 hours but we missed an entire side, so I recommend getting there no later than 2.
Colleen H — Google review
My experience at the Texas State Aquarium with my family was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly staff, breathtaking exhibits, and an atmosphere full of excitement and wonder. The interactive displays kept our kids engaged the entire time, and the variety of marine life — from dolphins and sea turtles to sharks and stingrays — was incredible to see up close. The entire facility was clean, well-organized, and perfect for a full day of fun and learning. It was a memorable family outing that we’ll be talking about for a long time. Highly recommend it for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to experience the beauty of the ocean without leaving Texas!
Ivory W — Google review
The aquarium has beautiful tanks filled with happy critters. The birds are beautiful and the layout of well thought out. The staff genuinely seem to love what they do. Like most large aquariums it’s not an inexpensive day, but certainly worth the time and effort to see.
Genie H — Google review
Really cool experience. The largest aquarium in Texas I ever visited. The admission fee was very expensive in my opinion but parking is free. I was impressed by the restaurant/cafe on site near the turtles exhibit. There’s also a very cool water park available to guest.
Ar M — Google review
🌟🌟🌟🌟 Four Stars – A Great Family Adventure with Room to Grow! We had a fantastic time at the Texas State Aquarium! The exhibits were engaging, especially the dolphin show and the Caribbean Journey section – the sharks, rays, and sea turtles were crowd favorites. The aquarium does a great job of combining education with entertainment, making it a hit for both kids and adults. The facility was clean and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. My kids especially enjoyed the interactive touch pools and the splash pad area – great ways to cool off and burn some energy. The reason for four stars instead of five? Ticket prices are quite steep, especially for a relatively small aquarium when compared to similar facilities across the U.S. and internationally. For larger families, the cost adds up quickly. A few areas also felt a bit dated, and while the food options were okay, more variety would be a welcome improvement. Still, this is a gem in Corpus Christi and absolutely worth a visit if you’re in the area. With a few updates and more accessible pricing, this could easily be a five-star destination. We’ll definitely be back!

Nestled in the vibrant S.E.A. District of Corpus Christi, the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History is a treasure trove for those eager to delve into the region's rich tapestry of history, culture, and science. Spanning nearly 100,000 square feet, this expansive museum offers an array of permanent and special exhibits that cater to all ages.
Great museum! There's lots to see as an adult, including minerals, shells, birds, and a historic ship wreck. There is plenty to keep the young entertained and provide exposure to science. A large climbing tower seems to be the favorite. Outside, there are several pieces of playground equipment as well as percussion musical stations. We went in November 2024, and there was no fee to enter. I was told it would be like that for all of November and December. The parking lot is just a short walk away from the entrance to the ship channel. Great place to see the Lexington from a distance and see incoming ships.

Second time visiting this place. Hasn't changed since the last time but my daughter was younger back then. She wanted to visit and see it again now that she's older. As before, she enjoyed the exhibits and interacting with the hands on exhibits as well. Highly recommend for families with children.
Rudy T — Google review
Very cool place, lots of things to look at but staff is very rude. Was rude and seemed like no one wanted us to be there. Was told 3 times when they close and followed us around at times checking on us to see when we were leaving. More than 30 min left telling us they close. If you dont want people here up until 5pm, chamge your hours to accommodate that or stop letting people in. We came at like 3:30 and felt rushed almost the entire time
Brandon W — Google review
This a very well laid out, comprehensive, and interesting museum. The primary areas are: Spanish & French exploration, rocks & gems, fossils, Kenedy ranch family history & possessions, and local history. There were many relics from old Spanish sailing vessels . We read most everything, and were there about four hours. Gave a different perspective on European exploration and all the treasure that were brought back to Europe.

Public beach
Mustang Island State Park spans 3,954 acres and is a picturesque section of Gulf Coast land just a short drive from Corpus Christi. The park features gleaming white sand, light blue waters, and lush green dunes. Visitors can enjoy activities such as swimming, hiking, biking, picnicking, and camping in the 18-mile barrier island.
This is a great place to sit on the beach and enjoy the waves! You can drive your vehicle on the beach, so no having to carry all your beach gear a long ways. We have been here multiple times & we always love it. Don’t touch the pretty blue jellyfish that have washed up on shore! There are portable potty restrooms nearby (at the parking area for those who don't want to drive on the beach). There are also nice regular restrooms and outdoor showers to rinse off sand near the camping area, and restrooms at the park store.
Karen L — Google review
Mustang Island State Park is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. We stayed at Site #3, which was easy to access and offered a great view — perfect for relaxing or enjoying a walk along the shore. The beach was clean, the water was clear, and the park was well maintained throughout. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was calm and family-friendly. A wonderful spot for a beach getaway.
ᗪᗩYᑎᗩ — Google review
Mustang Island State Park is a beautiful spot to enjoy the Texas coast! The beach access is excellent — it’s easy to get to the sand and the beaches themselves are wide, clean, and absolutely gorgeous. It’s a great place to relax, take a walk, or just enjoy the ocean breeze. The RV park, while convenient, is more of a parking lot setup than a traditional campground, so don’t expect much privacy or scenery there. However, the location makes up for it — it’s close to Corpus Christi, with plenty of restaurants and shopping just a short drive away. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to visit for the beaches and convenience, especially if you’re looking to explore the area.
Vikki W — Google review
We probably would not stay at this campground again because it was so humid. You could not see the beach from the campground, but you could walk around the dune about a quarter mile to actually get to the beach. The bathroom facilities were very nice with many shower stalls too. We had 50 amp service with good water pressure and there was a dump site near the exit to the RV campground. There were lots of tents around the RVs, which made it not as nice and there were zero trees. The wind was very strong 100% of the time I was afraid I would have to stake down my truck (just kidding). I can’t believe anyone would camp in a tent here because it’s so hot and so humid you couldn’t possibly have a good night sleep. If you were looking for a place to relax this probably isn’t it. It is very windy and very hot and humid. The people in tents must’ve been miserable. Had we known we didn’t have to buy a $12 annual pass to park on the beach at Aranza’s beaches, not at the state park. You could go on any beach with this annual pass, some people had their RVs on those beaches.
Steve T — Google review
Beautiful, clean beach. We saw lots of marine life. The water was the perfect temperature for me. I'd definitely come back next time we're in the area.
Rhonda N — Google review
We enjoyed camping on the beach all weekend! We have a parks pass so it was less than $10. With clean portatoilets, picnic tables, and waste bins every few feet, the experience was much better than the free beach front down the way.
Kimberly S — Google review
This was an awesome place to spend the night at the beach without crowds. It was very serene and peaceful. The ocean water was warm and calm. The sand was pleasant to walk on the shore and inside the water. This beach is very clean and well taken care of it the park personnel.
Jesús R — Google review
A beautiful and peaceful beach that's clean and soft sand as far as the eye can see. The water is shallow enough you can walk way out into the bay and the crabs all over the beach are so cute!

The center also hosts a weekly farmers market and offers Family Art Time during the GROW Local Farmers Market.
Oh! My dear Loats Jesus. This is a wonderful place to visit. It has a restaurant to enjoy a great meal. Prices on the painting and crafts are at a great price. I took many pictures to enjoy watching. I will share with you all. I hope this helps. We did not have to pay for entrance. It was free. You will need to ask to make sure. Very nice people out there that are willing to help you out.

The Art Center is for artists to display, sell, and learn. It is free, with a simple box for donations. The current main display is the gowns from the Las Donas de la Corte event; usually only 3 weeks displayed. Small side galleries and hallways filled with ceramics, jewelry, inspired pieces and paintings. There is a wonderful, slightly pricey, restaurant connected to The Art Center; great drinks and very good food.

This is my second time to the art center. I definitely recommend when you are in corpus to check out this place. They have many art pieces raining and very surprises as little as seven dollars for some earrings up to several thousand dollars for art piece. I have gotten several small things, but I would say these coasters are my favorite. The food is phenomenal as well. The restaurant that is located inside.

This is our 2nd time visiting this place and we really enjoy it. There is a lot of neat art work for sale from local artists. It looks like they even have added event space and a restaraunt or cocktail bar in the building. This is definitely a unique location and its worth coming to check out from time to time.

Its so neat. It's a place that displays art . It also has resident artists that you may see working on their creations. You can also buy the art that you like. There is a restaurant inside also. The views of the marina are beautiful. And its free
Susana H — Google review
As a tourist attraction, the galleries at the art center are definitely worth a visit and there's no entrance fee if you choose to do so. This review is primarily for those interested in hosting an event or wedding in one of the available venue spaces. The art center is gorgeous and there are wonderful views in the Bay View room. I would be cautious recommending these venues primarily because the communication regarding rental coordination isn't the best. Other venues we reached out to when trying to get information usually provided us most of what we needed in the first couple of emails. In this case, it took several emails to get all of the needed information, as the coordinator would forget to provide certain documents, or answer questions that were asked. Due to the communication issues, we decided to go with a different venue, but it is a beautiful space.

So much amazing and local art here! We had the pleasure of visiting during the week and had the whole place to ourselves to enjoy. I’m not sure who the gentleman was at the front, but I really appreciate his mentality when we asked him how much the admission fee was and he plainly said something around the lines of, “It’s free. Art should always be free to enjoy”. Thank y’all for all the great art and for keeping it free for everyone to enjoy 😊 I believe you can also purchase some of art. We will definitely be back. Below are some of my favorite pieces of art!
Genesis R — Google review
I’ve been to the attached restaurant once at the behest of close friends who raved about it & my experience didn’t align with theirs. This is the second time I visited the gallery portion & found it really awe-inspiring, the unlimited heights of human creativity. Then I had to visit the Men’s room & both trips’ visits yielded disgust & disappointment. The seats of both stalls had feces all over toilets & seats & bowls/urinal almost overflowing with stale urine. This is enough to make me want to not return. I know it’s not easy with an open access facility & lots of transient foot traffic, homeless trespassers, etc, but this problem hardly seems new. I hope they do better going forward.

The Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve and Learning Center in Corpus Christi, TX is a 162-acre nature preserve aimed at educating visitors about the diverse plant and animal life of South Texas. The park features over 4 miles of nature viewing trails, providing an opportunity to observe native flora and fauna in their natural habitat. Additionally, the learning center offers valuable information about wetland conservation.
Has a small park for kids/toddlers, small educational center, trails with gravel, & an observatory look out over the bay. It's also a good place to bring your fur babies, but please keep dogs on a leash. Some dogs are reactive & not as social as others. Beautiful place to visit if you want some peace & quite✌️🐕‍🦺🌳🐍🦩🐦🐢

Amazing place to go birding. If you haven't used a bird identification app before, I recommend downloading the Merlin app, start a Sound ID recording while walking the trails, and watch all the birds that pop up on the found species list. My wife and I did this the last time we went and there were Painted Buntings all over the preserve. Most of them were out of sight but eventually we were able to find a couple.

Awesome place to visit and take the kids, an awesome experience for adults as well if you're into nature & science, amazing playground park and walking trails 👣
Donald L — Google review
Corpus Christi doesn't have many nature trails and definitely no shade, but this is a great family-friendly trail. Kids areas have shade and restrooms, but larger trails do not. There is a small story trail available for littles close to the picnic and playground areas and larger trails, about 2-5 miles, depending on your route. Parking areas are available inside and outside of the park, but check on the hours before considering parking inside.
Korinne C — Google review
Was a nice relatively short walk. Took my dog and he enjoyed the walk too. Saw a rattlesnake coiled up but was a small one.
Jim D — Google review
Often, parks are usually focused on just having more trees and trails, but this one includes many of the natural terrains of the area not often explored or highlighted. There are facilities and information for additional family fun exploring and some walking trails which you can finish the loop in about an hour of slow walking and stopping. There are areas for kids to play, well maintained bathrooms, and one member of staff there when I visited to answer questions. This park is a wonderful addition to many of the parks in the area. My only caution is to watch for ant hills along the gravel trails to make sure you don't step in or near one. Otherwise, this was a nice free location to walk around and see nature local to Corpus.
Marvin H — Google review
I love this place. It's well kept, and trails are maintained. At least there is some nature, native trees, and understory to see here. I try to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes and have seen a bobcat here. Being in nature has been such a needed antidote to workdays inside an office. So, the efforts made by staff here to keep the trails and surrounding area accessible and fairly clean are very much appreciated!!!

Historic Walking Areas
Heritage Park in Corpus Christi is a popular destination offering a glimpse into the city's history. The park features several Victorian homes, each with its own story and offering tours to visitors. The grounds are perfect for picnics and host various festivals, including the Texas Jazz Festival. This living history museum spans 21 acres and showcases over a dozen meticulously restored historic homes, buildings, and artifacts from the late 19th century.
Heritage Park in Corpus Christi provided a truly magical backdrop for Natalie's quinceañera photoshoot. Its diverse settings allowed us to capture a range of stunning images, each highlighting the beauty of her lavender lilac dress. Natalie looked absolutely radiant! Located in Port Avenue on Corpus Christis, Hurricane Alley Waterpark is packed with family-friendly activities such as a wave pool, lazy river, slides and thrill rides during peak season. The park has won awards and earned a status as one of Corpus Christis greatest family-friendly attractions.
Our family has been coming here for almost 10 years! The place has been well kept up and hasn't really aged at all. Everything was in working order except the wave pool which they were working on at the time. The lockers are easy to use with a smart phone and no keys to hold onto as the are all electronic. The bathroom was fairly clean and the paint was in decent shape. They didn't smell bad. I always review the restrooms as that is a good litmus test as to the establishments commitment to cleanliness and service. There were 7 of us and it only cost 92.00. Maybe because we showed up at 11:05 and if you get there early it is cheaper? Anyway, I was happy to not pay the $25/ticket. We stayed the whole day and my boys stayed on the wave surfer for hours! The teenagers managing the surf were a little inattentive but nice and respectful. Although the line did move a little slower as they took turns after every surfer to get a run in themselves. The food was delicious for a water park and reasonably priced even though there was not much selection. The corn dogs were huge and tasted good. Get there early to "claim" a table with an umbrella as there are no chairs in the shade, save the bungalow rentals, and those are expensive.
Joshua S — Google review
It's a small water park near the baseball field. You have to pay to park in the lot. There are no outside food or drinks allowed. I made sure to bring water shoes to protect my feet from the heat. There is only 5 slides, but the lady river makes the park enjoyable. I would like a slightly larger adult area but still had a good time. Will come back.

This waterpark is Amazing 👏🏼. This is our 3rd time going with my family. It is a 3 hour drive from where we live. We enjoy it to the max. The lazy river is our favorite. We can be there all day. Just relaxing! Can't wait to go again next year God willing.
Magaly V — Google review
I normally don’t leave bad reviews because I also run a business, but here’s my honest experience. We drove 2.5 hours to visit, bringing our 8-month-old’s float so he could enjoy the water. When we arrived, we were told we couldn’t use it. I understand safety rules, so that wasn’t a huge deal. The park itself is on the smaller side, which was fine—we still made the most of it and had some fun. The real disappointment was the food. We spent over $40 on lunch, and the quality was extremely poor—especially the pizza, I rather have Little Caesars. To top it off, my wife asked for a straw so our baby could drink some Gatorade from a straw, and they refused. I even went up to ask myself, and still got a “no.” That’s just unnecessary. If you’re not going to give them out, at least have them available with the utensils for people to grab if needed. Overall, we won’t be coming back and I can’t recommend it. If you do decide to visit, I’d strongly suggest bringing your own food and drinks.

We were visiting Corpus with our 7 year old grandson. The reviews we read were mixed. We decided that the price could not be beat, so took a chance. And boy, were we glad we did! We all had a blast. The facility was clean, staff were friendly and helpful, and prices for food, lockers, etc were not bad. There were lines for some of the rides, but nothing that was too much of a wait. We ended up staying longer than we initially thought we would because we were all having fun - even the 65+ year old members of our party.
Jody B — Google review
Gets busy on weekends, but it is a great place to cool off. Wish they'd let you bring water bottles in, but they stamp your hand if you go out and want to come back in. 4 slides for tubes, 1 racing slide with mats. Lazy river with wave pool and a swim up bar is nice!
Dustin D — Google review
This was a good choice to enjoy for the weekend. We stopped in July 4th a Friday, and it was only $20 a person, and weekends are $25. Plenty of lounge chairs available to rent. The water was clean. We spent most of the time in the kids' cove, but my 12 year old had fun in the giant slides. There are options to have a small group part and tables available if you're having food with the family.
Erin R — Google review
This is a pretty small waterpark, but the price is appropriate for the amount of activities that are included. They only really have about four decent slides and a decent lazy river. Things seem to be clean and in good working order for the most part. We had a good time generally speaking.

Delightful exploration of an art space. Nice pieces on display and good shopping as well. Space is good for a quick cultural experience and looks like a great place for a small event. The weekly market is small however the vendor selection is nice.

Small art gallery. No admission charge. They always have great exhibits. They’ve expanded into the space that faces Chaparral and relocated the gift shop to that area. Typically they have an opening reception for new exhibits during first Friday Art Walk. There’s also a cool mural of lotería pieces reimagined by south Texas artists on the exterior wall of the building, accessible and visible from Chaparral.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy free concerts on Thursday nights and movies on Friday nights at the park. It’s nice. Very clean. Very good. The park is mainly used for fishing, especially since it has Cole Park Pier. Oleander Point is very good for sailboarding and parasailing. I come here every day, so maybe I’m a little biased lol. But I love this place.

I actually asked an AI chat bot to plan out the best evening walk route for corpus and Cole Pier was the starting point, so this is how we ended up here :) Looks like a great place for locals to hang out. tons of fishing going on, as every table and railing were taken by some local family fishing. We were here on a weekday and around 10:30 PM. It was well lit and it felt safe. The parking was free. There were just some areas of construction near the parking lot and of course there is always a ton of weed stench to be breathed in :/ If you have the lime app, which we use a lot, you can just hop on an e-scooter and ride up and down the coast.
Sharon R — Google review
We were visiting and we stopped at Cole Park. The park has a beautiful play ground which the kids will enjoy. There is a water fountain and restrooms for the public. Besides there are scooters which only adults age 18yrs and older with a driversicense can rent using an app. I tried the scooter and it's was fun. Very easy to use. When you are out there go by the bay in Corpus Christi and take your kids to have fun. Enjoy the ocean view. Just be careful with your kids not to wear shorts and it's hot. The slides are hot. The one thing I liked about this playground the floor is soft.

Decent beach near the city, acceptable if you want the convenience of city dining and access to the water. Sadly there is a lot of plastic, trash, and cigarette butts scattered around. There was even broken glass near the trash can. Would love to see no smoking signs and no glass bottles enforced here to preserve what could be a very nice place for visitors.

The beach here has a lot of clean and fun amenities like showers, bathrooms, playground, motorized scooters, and food trucks on weekends. A trash pick up team is needed to clean up the excessive garbage on the beach. The sand is not soft, so I would recommend bringing a chair and maybe some cushions or blankets if you want to sit on the sand comfortably. Unfortunately I saw a 14 or 15 year old boy, with makeup, long black hair, and about 5 ft 4 in with the voice of a man and body of a boy in the woman’s bathroom with a girl about 14-15 years old in the same stall.

Very short out and back trail with a loop at the end. There’s some desire paths that are not really trails but do look like trails. Trail is a mix of boardwalk, pavement and dirt, very uneven. A large section goes right by the water which was nice and scenic. Partially shaded
Betty G — Google review
Nice little nature area. We only took a short walk down the boardwalk to the water. It's neat with all of the grasses closing in around the route. The water view at the end was peaceful. A great place to just sit and relax for a bit.
Glorkar F — Google review
Pros: one good bird watching spot, one playground area, many picnic benches, long trails, park staff clean up trash frequently Cons: needs repairs, if you don't see birds in that one spot there are no other spots in this refuge to see them As others have said, this is in need of upkeep. The pavement is broken/missing in many places and not suitable for biking on. The boards on the boardwalk are in dire need of repair; it felt like they were close to caving in. The boardwalk is also overgrown with tall grass/plants that rise over the railing. The bird watching spot was crowded when I went, and there really weren't any birds to see. I tried finding another place in the refuge to see birds, but there isn't one. Getting to see the Mexican olive tree drop some fruit and all the white butterflies were neat though.

Outdoor Activities
Whitecap Beach, located in Corpus Christi, is a stunning stretch of white sand that offers a secluded and picturesque setting for beach enthusiasts. It's known for its clear waters and peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and picnics. The beach also provides opportunities for various activities such as fishing, surfing, windsurfing, and kiteboarding. Additionally, visitors can enjoy sunset horseback rides and evening bonfires.
Whitecap Beach is one of my favorite spots on the Texas coast! The wide, sandy shoreline is clean and easy to access, with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the ocean without feeling crowded. The waves are perfect for a refreshing swim or just relaxing while listening to the surf. It's a great beach for families, couples, or solo visitors-whether you're walking the shore, collecting seashells, or setting up for a full day in the sun. Parking is convenient, and the beach is well-maintained compared to many other public beaches. Sunsets here are absolutely stunning, and the peaceful vibe makes it an ideal place to unwind after a long week. Whether you're a local or just visiting Padre Island, Whitecap Beach is a must. Bring a chair, a cooler, and enjoy one of Texas's best-kept coastal secrets!
Jack — Google review
Whitecap Beach was a great experience, especially considering that in Texas, you don’t often get much of a tropical-style beach setting. The shoreline was clean and well-maintained, which made for a pleasant first impression. However, it was very busy the day we went, so I recommend arriving early if you want a good spot. One important thing to note is that you’ll be driving on sand to get to your spot, so make sure your vehicle is capable and you know how to handle it. On the day we visited, at least 20 vehicles reportedly got stuck and had to be towed out. A little preparation and caution can save you a lot of trouble. The water itself was fairly warm — expected for the middle of summer — but it does cool down the deeper you go. The main downside is the murky water with low visibility; once you’re past about 1.5–2 feet of depth, you can’t see the bottom, so watch your step. The slope is gradual, so you can walk 150–200 feet out and still only be in about 4–5 feet of water, though the sandy floor does have uneven spots. Amenities are basic: restrooms are limited to portapotties and are located far from the main beach area, and we couldn’t find any public showers. On the plus side, there are roaming vendors selling snacks, drinks, and beach parking passes, which is convenient. Overall, Whitecap Beach is a fun, family-friendly spot if you’re prepared for the crowds and lack of full facilities. Bring your own shade, arrive early, and enjoy a warm day by the water.

We enjoyed our time at White Cap Beach — the weather and views were beautiful, and it’s a nice spot to relax. However, I did notice quite a bit of litter along the beach and even in the water, like plastic pieces and bits of food. It would be great if the area was cleaned more often. Also, there aren’t any proper washrooms, only portable toilets, which aren’t very hygienic. It would be so nice if there were clean water sprinklers or showers to rinse off the sand and salty water before leaving, since it can really irritate your skin. Overall, we had a good time, but I hope they make a few improvements to make the experience even better. 🌊☀️

This place makes me love Texas beaches. The sand is beautiful and the water is clear. It was busy on Saturday—even had a group pull right up next to my car(they couldn’t even open the passenger doors) and then setup in front of me. I thought they couldn’t use a lesson in beach etiquette. I didn’t see any side by sides or four wheelers on my trip. Sunrise is not to be missed.
Wendy W — Google review
Ok, for Texas this is a great beach. Get a permit before parking on the beach. There are free paved lots that are very close if you don’t care about parking on the beach. Being used to Southern California beaches makes it tough to rate this without prejudice, but it’s pretty good. Would visit again.

I love this beach. On our first night we were just looking around and took my girlfriend’s mini dachshunds for a walk on it and they didn’t even bark at people or other dogs. Now to the swimming it was great. I love to just let the waves crash on me and just go with the tide. The current can get strong so make sure you are aware and know your limits. I look forward to many more visits here

What a beautiful beach that you can drive your car for free. This is especially helpful when traveling with a mobile-challenged person. Bathroom is a Port-a-John. Watch out for the Jellyfish.

The Selena Memorial Statue in Corpus Christi, Texas, pays tribute to the iconic Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez. The life-size bronze statue is located near the ocean and serves as a reminder of her transformative career and contributions to music. Visitors can also explore other cultural landmarks in the city, such as the Selena Museum, Padre Balli Park, and the Texas Surf Museum.
Since we went during a weekday and it was around 5pm the parking was no issue and it was perfect for pics. We were even approached by the caretaker who takes care of the statue and talked to us about Selena facts. He told us the lights around the statue would turn on soon and that depending on the holiday the light colors will change to match the holiday. He took pictures of us with the statue as well and my friend and I managed to get beautiful pictures of the scenery around us.

First time visiting. Very peaceful little spot, they play Selena music and tell a little about her as you take pictures. It doesn't really look like her but the thought was sweet. It's free and there's plenty of parking especially on the weekday.

Such a sweet memorial for an incredible Artist. Area is well maintained and well visited by travelers in the off season but plenty of room for photo opportunities. There is a pre-recorded message playing intermittently to tell of Selena’s life and accomplishments with the memorial itself overlooking the bay. Off street parking available.

The Corpus Christi Marina is a bustling hub for maritime activities, offering a picturesque waterfront experience. It is part of the Corpus Christi Bay Trail, which spans nearly 9 miles and connects various tourist attractions. The marina features numerous sailboats and recreational watercraft, with options to rent paddle boats, kayaks, and jet skis from vendors. Visitors can take leisurely strolls along the three T-head piers and dine at fine restaurants located at the end of these piers.
My recent visit to the Corpus Christi Marina was a true delight, offering a perfect blend of coastal charm, maritime excitement, and unbeatable hospitality. Nestled along the scenic shores of the Corpus Christi Bay, this vibrant marina serves as a gateway to endless adventures on the sparkling waters of the Gulf Coast. From the moment I arrived at the Corpus Christi Marina, I was impressed by its welcoming atmosphere and pristine surroundings. The sight of sailboats swaying gently in the breeze, fishermen casting their lines into the bay, and seagulls soaring overhead created a picturesque scene straight out of a postcard. As I strolled along the marina's boardwalk, I couldn't help but be captivated by the breathtaking views of the bay and the bustling harbor activity. The sight of colorful boats bobbing in the water, framed by the iconic Harbor Bridge and the downtown skyline, made for a truly unforgettable sight. In addition to its maritime offerings, the Corpus Christi Marina boasts a variety of amenities for visitors to enjoy. From waterfront dining options serving up fresh seafood and refreshing drinks to boutique shops and art galleries showcasing local talent, there's something for everyone to discover and enjoy. Overall, my experience at the Corpus Christi Marina exceeded all expectations. Whether you're a seasoned sailor, a fishing enthusiast, or simply looking to soak in the beauty of the bay, this charming marina offers the perfect setting for unforgettable moments by the water. If you find yourself in Corpus Christi, Texas, be sure to pay a visit to the Corpus Christi Marina and experience its coastal magic for yourself.

Relaxing, to just sit and enjoy the view. Seems pretty safe to walk with young children. The bathrooms we're locked on the weekend, not sure why. The only thing I disliked was that there were too many broken bottles everywhere. Take your camera, a good variety of birds are in the vicinity. Plenty of restaurants in the area as well.

Wonderful place to get out on the water and admire all of the lovely sailing vessels and water fowl! Absolutely enjoyed taking in the sights and sounds of the fisherman selling their fresh catches of the day! The Brown and White Pelicans were such a treat to see up close and personal! I'll definitely return to the Corpus Christi Marina! There are still so many places to eat and cruises to take here!!!!
El M — Google review
Might be the last nice area left in Corpus. The Marina is beautiful with fishing boats docked and selling fresh shrimp and crabs. The pier side restaurants are very nice and serve great seafood dishes and drinks. There is still a bay tour and even an evening bay tour that you can take wine and drinks on named the Japonica right next to a great floating dock restaurant. Landry's is a very nice restaurant with beautiful views. People fish there at night and you can watch them bring in some nice catches. Small paddle boats and sail boats can be rented for an afternoon of fun. Electric bikes and two seater bikes can also be rented and really fun peddling up and down the bay front to take in the sights. Worth the visit on the weekends.

North Beach is a popular destination in Corpus Christi, Texas, offering white sand and various attractions such as a Ferris wheel, an aquarium, and restaurants. Visitors are advised to obtain necessary permits or pay entry fees before heading to the beach. It's recommended to bring essentials like sunscreen, drinks and snacks (in non-glass containers), chairs, towels, umbrella or canopy, sunglasses/hats, and a trash bag for cleaning up.
I really enjoyed myself today at North Beach. I love how everyone thinks the sea snail eggs are jellyfish lol there are lots of gel sacks along the shore... Please let them be or gently place them back in the water. They're just baby sea snail eggs trying to live! I REALLY enjoyed eating at Blackbeard's. My only qualm would be that it could be cleaner but I wouldn't say it was "dirty" by any means. Great experience - will definitely return!

North Beach is a nice beach. It’s close to USS Lexington museum and Texas State Aquarium. There are a few ways to access the beach: 1. Drive on the sand and find a parking spot with direct access to North Beach (which is what my family chose)… although it will be a rough ride due to the huge mounds in the sand 2. Park near the museum or aquarium for $5 and walk to the beach after you visit the other attractions 3. Street parking (pay via meter) 4. Book a hotel or rental home with direct access to the beach (there are many) Jellyfish ruined our beach day (my toddler almost touched one and there are no signs posted) Bring your own tents and chairs. There is a cute shop nearby with reasonably priced beach items in case you forget. Bring your cooler and snacks. There are food trucks posted at the beach if you forget that too. I would definitely visit again! But I’d prepare a little more so we’d have a better experience.

Really enjoyed the constant breeze here! The beach was quiet and there was plenty of room to post up with my chair and music... Even have a couple of cocktails with my sweetheart! Waking distance from our condo and simply wonderful to watch the tugboats and carriers come in and out of the bay. Wonderful time there☺️!
Moniq — Google review
Don't waste your time going here. I honestly don't get the appeal of going here. Is it because it is free? Construction all around so took awhile to get to. The sand is filled with seaweed, rocks and broken sea shells, they have no bathrooms or showers, and the parking is very small and in a dirt lot with holes that make it hard to drive around. The water was impossible to enjoy. The waves were massive and pounding against you and knocking you over. Within a matter of a few feet from shore you are in water up to your chest. Hundreds of jellyfish also around. My kids were scared to swim there because of all the jellyfish and huge waves. Was disappointed that the other reviews suggested this beach. We drove a few miles away to the Island and the beaches over there are a night and day difference. The sand there is gorgeous and soft. The water is crystal clear and can walk a hundred yards out and still be touching. Didn't see any jellyfish on the Island. Can drive right onto beach and eat, drink, camp and have fires. Also have adequate bathrooms and showers on the Island. It's worth the extra time and $12 permit to go to the beaches on the Island.
Greg R — Google review
We really enjoyed this beach! Great parking, just feet from the water! It was a Thursday, so it wasn't too crowded. It is a great place to spend family time. Also, the hotels near the beach are very reasonable! ☀️

The jellyfish were so bad we didn't even get in. At one point I counted 7 jellyfish close to shore. Jellyfish were washing up on the beach. We used a cup to put several back in before we left.

With nearly 100 paved campsites perfect for RVs and designated areas for tent camping, it’s an ideal spot for those looking to immerse themselves in nature while enjoying modern amenities like electrical hookups and accessible facilities.
I parked my Jayce Jay Flight at the Padre Balli RV Park over Christmas break. The park was clean, quiet and well maintained. The office staff were very helpful upon check in. It was my first time camping and I could not have selected a better location. Cherlyn V — Google review
Stayed for about a week with an RV - April 27th to May 4th 2025. ‘Premium’ spots are very pretty; non-premium is, at least when I visited, a parking lot next to a construction zone. Ultimately, I would stay again, but the park is owned by the city which caused issues, primarily around power. Paid for a power RV site, but the island lost power for something like 24 total hours over the course of two separate, non-consecutive days. No power - no A/C when it’s 85 degrees outside and you’re trying to get a good night’s rest. No power - no reliable internet. Inquired about a partial refund, but was basically told that would be difficult. Understandable - city budgets, paperwork and all that. So, idk, pretty park, nice staff, but not without some headaches.

Went about a week ago, all the camp sites were spread out plenty of privacy, it was clean, my 2 wheel truck did get stuck and was a minor pain getting it out the sand. But didn't stop me from having an awesome beach experience.

We were not camping there; our family was. We just went to hang out a couple times. The campground was quiet and clean. Their camper spot was very nice, with an extra-large concrete area for a picnic table and chairs, and they even had room for their large dog fence. The bathrooms were decent. The beach was pretty clean, too. Very nice; I'd definitely camp there myself in the future.

This was our first time here at Padre Balli Park. It was nice and clean. There weren't too many campers so they had slots open. We were less than 5min. walking distance to the beach. The water was brown on the first day and very windy. The second and third days were very nice 87°F for the high and humidity was low. So very comfortable weather. The water started returning to it natural color and by Wednesday it was there. We went fishing and caught a few fish and released them back. The bath/shower house was clean and the laundry room was in working order. I wish they had more washer & dryers. The price for the premium sites are very reasonable. They do offer tent camping and have electricity to most spots. I would recommend getting a beach parking pass from the office at about $14.00 so you can drive on the beach ⛱️ and set up for the day. The pass is good for 1yr. It was really nice and we look forward to heading back there before the year end.

I'm going to say some things that I don't see anyone else saying. This place is starting to fall apart and I know the city knows because the items are removed. Even when I was there they were removing one of the basketball backdrops that had broken glass. Come on guys ...can you not have nice things? This is one playground that has equipment that is more motor driven and helps the kids practice their balancing skills. It's not like all of the other playgrounds in town that's just slides and some climbing places. If you want to get to the slide you have to work for it. There's also more benches here than a lot of the parks and if you know how to use it..some stationary adult exercise equipment. The main feature of course is the bay breeze and view. Though items are breaking, it is being actively maintained. There are also restrooms nearby which is not a common feature with most playgrounds.

We love coming to this park to feed the birds. We really enjoy seeing the mama birds carry multiple pieces of food off to their youngin's. Of course, before the bigger bully seabirds come & usually haggle the food away from them. There needs ti be pooper scoopers for people with pets. Like one of those trash bag things you can get when your dog poops in the grass. When this happens I'll change this to 5 stars. Overall, we have a great time here, there's a cute little park for children as well along with places to sit and eat or have a picnic at. A public bathroom Would be nice too, I know there's some at the next park over tho.

Nestled in uptown Corpus Christi, Blucher Nature Park is a serene escape from city life and a haven for birdwatchers. Despite its small size, the park offers beautiful natural scenery and well-maintained trails. It's a peaceful spot for couples to unwind and immerse themselves in nature. The park's lush greenery creates an urban jungle atmosphere, providing ample opportunities to observe wildlife and test your knowledge of plants and birds.
Wow! It was a very unexpected hotspot for so many birds! From the outside, it didn't seem very promising. Once inside, though, I was in paradise! I saw my first ever Green Jays, Great Kiskadees, and Monk Parakeets!

I came here alone to maybe walk the trails and get some exercise. I was afraid. It was very overgrown. No one has mowed this place in a while. There were some homeless men there. That might have been OK if I wasn't a single female by myself in an overgrown wilderness. I was kind of afraid because all of the unsloved mystery TV shows came to my mind, so I just got out of there fast. I was kind of hoping to see some trails, but I didn't see any near the entrance. I don't know if there are any farther back. I was kind of afraid to go any further than I did. I talked to my coworker, who said it used to be a really nice park. I'm not sure what happened. Hopefully, they can get the vegetation under control and landscaped. I wouldn't come here as a single female. Maybe come with a group of people or something. It just didn't feel safe being a single female at this park.

Good wild place in the city to be with nature in a real life setting. It was clean and semi manicured enough to walk around freely. There are hidden areas that are allowed to become overgrown, which are great for wildlife. I will return to this place as a regular stop on my birding adventures. I did not feel in danger despite the aloneness, there were not any homeless people sleeping there, or hanging out. I think the police do a good job of keeping it free of vagrants. This is more like a green space than a city park. There are no picnic tables, play sets, or bathrooms. There are trails that wander through the space under trees, so it's good for a little walk. However, if you like watching birds, it is a *great* place especially during spring and fall migration!

Collier Pool is one of Corpus Christi's year-round pools, offering a great family-friendly environment for all. The pool is well-maintained and features amenities such as a big water-dropping bucket, swim lanes, and attentive lifeguards. It's an ideal spot to take the little ones for some fun in the sun. Additionally, the pool is heated, making it suitable for swimming even during colder months.
This is the best pool I commute to from the island just to lap swim and love how the lap swim times are right and the staff is awesome (lifeguards) and the lap swim peeps are super cool. I am getting back into lap swimming 🏊 after moving here, missed it so much, and I love how clean the pool is and how it very well taken care of. I'm willing to drive here 3-4 times a week! Thank you to the staff who takes pride in their job and keeping up with the pool and times for lap swim and open swim! Y'all rock! PS: If more lap swimmers show up on the weekend, they always provide an extra lane for us to swim. As it's not so busy in the morning for general swim, but busy with lap swimmers.
Amanda — Google review
They need to change lap swimming to fewer hours and open up the whole pool to the public that’s coming with their families to play. The majority of the pool is closed off for “lap swimming” when no one is even there for lap swimming. The other side of the pool is so crowded while the other side is empty.

La Retama Downtown Park is a beautiful downtown park that offers great views of the city and is a popular spot for people to relax, eat lunch, and enjoy the sunshine. It has a lot of benches, tables, and chairs, making it perfect for taking in a nice view or catching some sunlight. The park also has a cool underground tunnel connecting the upper business district with the market area below, which amplifies the music from the Art Walk events happening in the park.

Have lived around the corner from this park and it has been going down hill. The last 6 months the homeless population has grown In the park and due to that, the park has become a public rest room they bath in the drinking fountain and the just squat and relive their bouls every where in the park. It's disgusting used needles and broken glass everywhere. Hope the city can do something about it.

Packery Channel is a popular fishing spot located in Padre Island, Texas. It's known for its excellent trout fishing and is a favorite among kayak fishermen. The jetties are frequented by birds working the bait, making it an ideal location for fishing. The smooth concrete top with railing provides a comfortable and safe environment for anglers to fish in the surf or the channel. Additionally, visitors can enjoy watching surfers, dolphins, and sea turtles at this pleasant beach.
Great place to fish. Smooth concrete top with railing. You can fish in the surf or the channel. Don't forget to buy a vehicle pass prior to entering the beach. $12 at Stripes or the park office.

Watch out for the scam! I went there and with all of the construction parking is not clearly communicated. I parked my car in line with about 6 other vehicles. My wife went back to car and there was a woman in one of the White Trucks that says Island patrol. She looked at my wife and did not say a thing. After a great day of fishing I find a parking violation on my car. The fine is $40! I don’t mind paying when I clearly don’t follow the rules but this is a scam! Whoever is in charge needs to address this. Please post signs that give your customers clear directions on do”s and don’t”s. Remember, taxpayers are the customer. Please watch where you park so that you don’t just become another way for the city to make money. Good luck everyone. I hope this saves someone the aggravation!

I had one of my best fishing days here for trout, it was awesome! I am from Baytown and an avid kayak fisherman in the Galveston bay. I Decided to go fishing for the evening at the Packery Channel Jetties for my first time. Since I was in town working for a few days I did not bring my kayak, but did bring a couple of poles and gear. I pulled up and the birds where working the jetties. They stayed working bait the whole afternoon until dark. I could not throw my lure in without getting a bite at least every 5-8 cast. I limited out on keeper spotted trout and caught to many to count. All on artificial lures. I also caught 8 - 24" + skipjacks and let me tell you what, they are a good fight! I will definitely be back to fish here again.

Driving by we almost missed it. Stopped to use a restroom and decided to walk through the nature walk. There was not much to see but no one was there which made it feel like a little hideaway. When leaving, saw there was a little road and google maps showed it went by the water. So glad we went down that road to take a look. There was plenty of parking and a few people fishing. While it is not a swimming beach there were people walking along the beach and we joined in for awhile. The waves were similar to what you might see on a freshwater lake. Some of the small sea shells actually had crabs that crawled across the beach. You will need water shoes since there is glass from broken (beer?) bottles. I was picking up a few pieces until I realized how much there was and found even more buried in the sand.

Jen M — Google review
It was like going to the wild feeling. I enjoyed lots of artists depictions and photographs supposedly sitting in front of plants or birds shown on the boards. After each piece, I wondered how much creativity the artist/photographer showed to capture the image at that quality. Their names are below each image for copyright protection. Still, people fail to acknowledge or think in the direction of the Originator of these marvels, Jehovah. It is easily accessible. I parked free. There is a walk board with two parts showing different species. It is a place to visit, if you like nature and want to know some species native to Texas/America. Its maintenance seems on the decline. Visit while it last.

Beautifully maintained waterfront park. We visited Corpus Christi on a day trip from Houston specifically to try out the Zagster bike share program and this is one place in town where the bike stands were plentiful. It was January but there were still quite a few people out. Some on bikes but many more on cool looking motorized scooters. Both are available for rent and the riding area is very good including the really clean bathrooms. There's even a spot where you can get air for your tires or need a tool to adjust something on your bike.

Visitors can enjoy convenient amenities such as clean restroom facilities, coin-operated showers, and picnic tables perfect for family gatherings or quiet meals by the beach.
Unfortunately, the weather was a bit chilly and the fog rolled in on this day. But, the beach was clean, the food is great in this area and it was the perfect little family getaway. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a nice getaway. Also, it was peak Spring Break and there weren't that many drunk college kids, that's always a plus.

Padre Island Seawall, a 1.5-mile-long protective barrier, was constructed in response to the devastation caused by a hurricane in 1919. The seawall offers an elevated and paved path for activities such as biking, rollerblading, and leisurely strolls while providing stunning views of the beach.
This is a clean and beautiful beach. The tide was low when we visited and the water was shallow for at least a 100 feet out from shore. We went early and it was quiet, then busy later. There is parking on the beach with a $12 yearly permit. There were private restrooms and plenty of outdoor showers to use as well. We saw beach rentals such as canopies and chairs for those looking to spend the day there. I priced them and the canopy alone was $40, or with the chairs included it was $65. The gentleman said that they do the set up for you too. It was a wonderful place to visit and I can't wait to return!

The Padre Island Seawall is absolutely breathtaking! The views of the Gulf are incredible, with miles of coastline to enjoy. It's the perfect spot for a walk, bike ride, or just to take in the fresh ocean air. The seawall is well-maintained, with plenty of space for everyone, and the waves crashing against the shore create the perfect soundtrack for a peaceful day. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy nature, relax, and appreciate the beauty of Padre Island.

If you're looking for a beach that offers all the goodies - crashing waves, sand, fishing and expansive views - The Beach in Corpus Christi is a great option. Located off Highway 361 and Park Road 22, these Gulf beaches offer plenty of space to soak up the sun or take in some waves. Whether you're looking for something relaxing or want to enjoy some quality time with friends, Corpus Christi's beaches are sure to please.
The city provides trash cans and port a potties close to the beach markers that are spaced every 10th of a mile . Bring toilet paper with you! (It is stocked once a day) every fuel station and grocery store has parking passes- you can drive the beach without one but you can not stop with out it! In Port A proper there are wooden bollards that separate parking from pedestrian only beach . Once you get past the Texan the bollards don’t exist you can then park at the tide line ( handy if you are fishing) Get yourself some polarized sunglasses so you can see the fish in the wave swells and crests! Each main beach access point also has open air no private (keep your bathing suit on) outdoor showers to rinse off the sand. Sun rise is on gulf side and set is on Laguna side. The WIND! If you have never been to a gulf front beach… check your weather app to know for sure … most days 10-13 mph wind with gusts up to 20-39 mph ! Shade structures meant for soccer games to cut it at the beach! Mangled pop canopy frames are dumped next to the teas cans daily!!!

Nice selection of local art for sale as well. A big fan of supporting small businesses such as these where customer service and personal touch still matter!

Nestled in Padre Island, the Grasslands Nature Trail offers a serene two-mile trek through sand dunes, grasslands, and marshes. This popular spot for birding boasts over 400 bird species during peak seasons in early spring and fall. Visitors may encounter jackrabbits, coyotes, and various bird species along the paved trail. The area features shaded rest areas with information about local flora.
Im a person who appreciates walking, I love walking. I also appreciate a prairie field so I completely enjoyed this trail. Just being outdoors somewhere different and new that is a beautiful enjoyable experience for me. If you are someone who wants to be constantly seeing something new and different everywhere you look and doesn’t truly enjoy walking a trail then this might not be the trail for you. I only mention that because of someone else’s comment I read. The trail is a good length not to short but a good amount of steps if you take your time and just enjoy your walk.

Nice easy walking trail. You see lizards, butterflies and as we did a pack rat. Nice scenery. There is one sand dune that you can climb and see 360 degrees.
Andrew — Google review
We saw several different bird species and an abundance of lizards

This paved trail can be walked through in about 20 minutes. There are multiple covered areas along the way for shade and postings about local plants. It's fun to see what padre island looks like naturally.

Its a great place to have a walk, and breathe fresh air.

Cemetery
Old Bayview Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in Corpus Christi, has a rich history dating back to the mid-19th century. It serves as the final resting place for early settlers and soldiers from the Texas Revolution and Civil War. The site also witnessed the Battle of Corpus Christi during the Civil War. Despite minimal signage, it remains a gem of historic significance. Visitors have been pleasantly surprised by its hidden historical treasures and informative displays organized by local groups.
Stopped by today after learning of this cemetery through "googling" what to do and places to visit in Corpus Christi. I was not disappointed! In fact, as luck would have it, I met up---quite coincidentally---with a woman that was there who is quite involved with the care, advancement, and historical information about this cemetery: Miss Karen. She made my visit extra special by telling me about the individuals interred in this cemetery, even relating details about the families buried there---their shared histories, and so forth. I was very grateful, and even more intrigued about the cemetery and those that were laid to rest in it. I cannot wait to return!
El M — Google review
If you’re into history this is worth checking out. Park and take a walk through the cemetery and you’ll see stones from pre-1900 as well as historical markers describing some of the people buried on site. Area around the cemetery is a bit run down so be aware of your surroundings.
M S — Google review
The cemetery is great, for the most part undisturbed, we went last year in the wintertime as the Voices of South Texas did a great informational display for all to see for free, what is really cool is all the history of this place that most dont know about, i have lived here my entire life and never knew it was even here, we explored the whole place and look forward to this years event.

It is very sad that the city does not keep up with this historical landmark. I went there this weekend and was very disappointed in its appearance. I loved it for the history but I would love to see this maintained and respected.

Michael J. Ellis Beach is a popular beach in Corpus Christi that's located just a mile from the Padre Island Seawall. It features both showers and restrooms, making it convenient for the families. The seashore overlooks Corpus Christi Bay and has great views of the cityscape and Padre Island National Seashore.
My favorite place to go to reset! During off season you can walk the beach without the craziness.

Sun, Sand, and a Great Time Near Corpus Christi! On a grand family vacation adventure in San Antonio, we decided a day trip to the beach was in order, and this gem near Corpus Christi hit the spot! The water here is ridiculously shallow for a long ways, which was a blessing, especially on a blustery day when the wind warnings basically screamed, "Stay where you can touch!" It meant endless splashing fun without anyone accidentally becoming a new part of the Gulf ecosystem. The sand is like powdered sugar, perfect for serious sandcastle architecture (my 13-year-old was impressed, and so was I, a 51-year-old who still takes sand construction very seriously). Now, it's not the blindingly white, postcard-perfect stuff, and the water isn't that Caribbean turquoise – my guess is you'd need to charter a private yacht to find that around here. But what it lacked in magazine spread aesthetics, it more than made up for in pure, unadulterated joy. I channeled my inner aquatic beast and did a lot of body surfing. It wasn't exactly Pipeline, but my personal fun meter was redlined! We loved that it wasn't too crowded, which, for a weekday, felt like a small miracle. You can drive right onto the beach! Parking was free – always a win for a family of seven! – and they had plenty of clean-ish bathrooms and outdoor showers that saved my car from becoming a mobile sand dune. I've been to beaches that make you gasp with awe, and frankly, some that make you gasp for air (in a bad way). This one falls squarely in the "loved it, would definitely frequent if I lived here" category. It's the kind of beach that promises simple, delightful fun and delivers. We had a truly fantastic time, soaking up the Texas sun and making memories.

Lots of clean sand and shoreline. Attentive lifeguards. Plenty of parking. Extremely clean public restroom. Excellent signage.
Jessica P — Google review
Good facilities. Free parking. Clean beach. Bad crowded. Polite visitors though (except this ego parked there deep and wouldn’t let people out). Bring your own shade. Be careful about leaving things on the seawall, sand blows into everything. Good shallow water access. Good for little kids. Positive experience. Was a yes.

The Watergarden is located in the center of Corpus Christi’s arts, cultural and science museums. It is FREE to the public and open 6a to 10pm. The entrance and parking lot are wheelchair accessible. There is handicap parking nearby. Beautiful area, very relaxing and serene. This is the perfect place for a family picnic or just to walk around. If you visit at night, you can enjoy LED lighting.

They turned the water back on so the wife and I took the motorcycle down there one evening and checked it out! It was dusk so we saw it come alive with lights flickering it was pretty impressive. Also a night ride of lighted bikes was leaving and they did a lap around the water garden on the way out it was pretty neat! Totally recommend this local sight!

Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve and Learning Center in Corpus Christi, TX offers a delightful escape with its beautiful grounds and natural areas overlooking the Oso Bay wetlands. The preserve features a great playground with unique features like a small waterfall for kids to enjoy, as well as lovely nature trails that allow visitors to observe native wildlife. The learning center provides classes for children of all ages and has clean, well-stocked bathrooms with stools for children.

We stopped here a few times during our Texas stay. The trails are nice and well maintained. It’s a good place to take a walk, but we didn’t see much wildlife. We went to Corpus Christi, and the Preserve, when the weather was bad and there weren’t any birds where we were staying. So we weren’t really expecting to see much here. It seems like there were many things for kids to do and learn. We enjoyed taking pictures of the pond and statues, and some of the views from the trails.
Linda — Google review
Amazing place to go birding. If you haven't used a bird identification app before, I recommend downloading the Merlin app, start a Sound ID recording while walking the trails, and watch all the birds that pop up on the found species list. My wife and I did this the last time we went and there were Painted Buntings all over the preserve. Most of them were out of sight but eventually we were able to find a couple.
Jason ( — Google review
Awesome place to visit and take the kids, an awesome experience for adults as well if you're into nature & science, amazing playground park and walking trails 👣
Donald L — Google review

Hazel Bazemore -Calallen Park is a 77.6-acre park known for its exceptional birdwatching opportunities, particularly for migrating hawks. The trail loops around the park and features boardwalks that offer great views of the birds. The park is situated at the convergence of multiple migratory bird flyways, making it a unique spot for birdwatching. Visitors can also enjoy picnicking, swimming, and fishing in the area.
Love this place so.much to do. Abundant wildlife. Great fishing.

There are a few neat spots around this park as far as hiking and walking go. The hawk observation deck gives a great view of the area. There is a small observation deck that looks out over the pond. A bit further down, there is a boardwalk near the river that has some gorgeous trees covered in spanish moss. There isn't much in the way of actual trails though. You're mostly just walking on the road. Lots of water around, so be sure to bring bug spray. The mosquitoes are fierce. And watch out for fire ants too. While we were reading the sign for the Boy Scout trail, our feet got covered in them!
Glorkar F — Google review
Lovely place! There is a deck for hawk observation, but there is also a handicap accessible ramp to do some bird watching. I've seen cardinals, green jays, hummingbirds, deer, turtles, ducks, a family of javelinas and a bobcat. There are walking trails, a river for fishing and if you just feel like taking a relaxing drive it's definitely the place for that too!

We live in Corpus Christi which is fairly close by and we visit alot. Sometimes just for a relaxing drive, sometimes for a hike and sometimes to play at the park. Feels like your way out in the middle of nowhere when your actually near the hubbub of the town. I have even take my kids there for driving practice sometimes.

We need more nature spots like this. It’s sad that some of the trails get so littered, people bring fast food and dump it there without using their abundant trash cans. It’s a nice shady spot and there’s kayak launch spots too.

Such a nice peaceful place to do a little fishing or just pass time. Only wish they had restrooms that were closer to the river side.
