Located in Aix-en-Provence, Musée Granet is a renowned art and sculpture museum housed in the former Knights of Malta center. The museum boasts an impressive collection of works by celebrated artists such as Rembrandt, Ingres, and Cezanne. In addition to its permanent collection, the museum also signed an agreement with Fondation Jean et Suzanne Planque in Lausanne to showcase modern and contemporary artworks for 15 years.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t see the Cézanne permanent collection since it wasn’t available during my visit in May 2025. But the rest of the artworks were really cool and worth seeing. The layout of the museum was clear and easy to follow — you won’t get lost. A great museum experience overall!
Deniz A — Google review
An extraordinary Cezanne exhibition covering his early to later works. Tickets only available via online portal and do expect a crowd- but it is a must if in Aix. The museum’s smaller permanent exhibition is also worth a (less crowded) visit.
Søren B — Google review
The temporary exhibition about Cezanne was fabulous however the organisation of the museum leaves huuuuuge space for improvement. The tickets can not be bought in the museum even if the next available slot is in the next 30 minutes. You have to buy online or in tourist office which is 700 meters away. The most ridiculous solution I’ve ever encountered in any other museum. You’re advised to come 30 minutes before just to stand in the queue. Instead of letting people enter on small groups they just put a mass of people to enter small space of the exhibition all together to make the small rooms super crowded. No logic at all. And the worst out of it is the stroller unfriendly policy! Nowhere at the stage of buying tickets online you learn strollers are not allowed. You learn it when entering museum. Parent must carry the child all the time. As I was nowhere before made aware of it I didn’t bring any baby carrier. They finallly made exception for me after consulting their head of security 🤯 the museum has lifts inside but first you need to make two round of stairs in front to enter the building which is a tough barrier for people with strollers or with wheelchairs. This all happens in France and touristic town! Shame and the difficulties they made for people with reduced mobility and first of all not informing the customer on the stage of buying ticket just spoils the whole experience. The staff also is not very helpful as this is a bother to have reduced mobility person as a visitor. Only one woman on the lower floor was actually nice. The rest was behaving as this is such a nuisance. Total disappointment and I’ve been to hundreds of museums before. 2 stars as the exhibition was first class but organisationally it’s a HORRIBLE place.
Culture T — Google review
The Cezanne exhibit is fantastic and well worth the price! They've brought together a fantastic collection and traced it though his life to show the evolution of style and use of light. The price includes the rest of the collection, and it was well organized to get in with timed entry, keeping it not too busy inside. If you're lucky enough - catch it before Oct 16 :).
Kimberly B — Google review
Wonderful space and comprehensive Cezanne expo visited in October 2025. There was a significant queue for the expo, which is reassuring! There are plenty of us still looking for beauty and inspiration in art! Will be back!
Silvana A — Google review
The Cezanne show was a great idea. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to truly appreciate it. We had tickets for the 12:30pm time slot and while the museum staff tried their best, people with other time slots were able to get in ahead of us. The que was in a side street that was partially closed to public but somehow people were skipping the que and going in. Once in, the museum was mobbed and there were large guided groups that monopolized the most significant pieces making it practically impossible for individuals to get close. The guide giving a lecture in front of the piece and the group (some even set up folding chairs!), took over entire rooms so those of us behind couldn’t get close. I’m sure the show was great and the city deserves kudos for a great effort but the museum needs to reconsider whether they can host individuals at the same time as they invite groups. The other issue is not the museum’s fault but a rule about it might help: photography should not be allowed when the museum is this busy. People stand in front of a piece with their phone, one after another, taking pictures of artwork that has been photographed millions of times preventing those of us behind to appreciate the work. No one is ever going to take as good a picture as the one sold in the museum shop post card or found in a book. I’m happy I was able to visit this beautiful exhibit but, unfortunately, it was not a particularly enjoyable experience.
Arnaldo V — Google review
The museum houses permanent collection and temporary exhibitions, in our case Cezanne a Jas de Bouffan 2025. The temporary exhibition was nice, the permanent one was fine but didn't entice me that much.
Johannes E — Google review
We went to see the Sezanne exhibition. It was really nice but unfortunately totally overcrowded although they are already limiting access with time slots. It also would have been great to understand more about the father -son relationship - the explanations were too short/ shallow and seemed contradictory at times.

Parc Jourdan is a charming public park located in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, known for its expansive green lawns, beautiful water features, and statues. The lower level showcases classic French gardens while the upper level offers wide green lawns, perfect for picnics and family gatherings. The park also features a gated playground with various play objects, making it an ideal spot for kids to have fun.
I really liked this park — it was calm, relaxing, and full of life. People were sunbathing, reading, and walking their adorable dogs. I had a little picnic and truly enjoyed my time there. A perfect spot to unwind in Aix-en-Provence!

The park is pleasant, but not somewhere I’d rush back to. The walk around it wasn’t long, just a casual stroll.

A parc with some shadow and good for us to have dinner in the heat of 32 Celsius:) Some people have a picnic and it looks like a relaxing place. Should close at 8 pm but we did not see anyone who closed the place, so not sure about closing time

Paroisse Cathédrale Saint Sauveur Aix-en-Provence is a diverse cathedral that showcases a blend of historical periods and architectural styles. The site holds significant archaeological evidence, indicating its sacredness for thousands of years, with remnants of pre-Roman pagan and Roman temples preceding the Christian church. The cathedral's construction spanned over 1200 years, from the 5th to the 17th century, marked by numerous interruptions such as wars, shortages, and plagues.
Especially from inside this cathedral is looking impressive. Get informed about the history in advance or have a visit inside with a Tour Guide. I am sure you will enjoy it!
Juergen C — Google review
Very old and full of character, a fascinating mix of architecture. This is a beautiful historic site with layers of history. You can see a blend of Roman, Gothic, and Baroque styles all in one place. The stone carvings, wooden choir stalls, and ancient baptistery are especially impressive. Even if you’re not religious, it’s worth a visit just to admire the architecture and peaceful atmosphere. A great spot for photos and a quiet moment in the city.
The Y — Google review
One of the most amazing cathedrals - and you wouldn’t recognize from the outside. Actually hard to find as it is easily overlooked in the dazzling inner town of Aix. The magnificent inside greets you first with a wonderful full-body baptistery on the right, with high columns. Then you walk on until you realize you are in a side wing - and turning to the left exposes a beautiful main ship, with an even more wonderful altar area. We didn’t see the associated cloister as this has a long lunch time break, so check the time tables if you want to visit this as well.
DB W — Google review
Absolutely outstanding church - architecture, artworks, organ, cloisters, and alter. One of the best I have ever seen.
Sharon H — Google review
Amazing visit! No tickets needed. You can visit the church free of charge (except during church services when it’s off limits for visitors). There are spaces dedicated to prayers only - off limits for visitors - which you are asked to respect. The beautiful archway and garden can be visited with a guide only. Make sure to put that on your schedule:) it’s free of charge but polite to leave a tip.
Fel I — Google review
Beautiful cathedral! You can clearly experience how it has grown during the many centuries, from the simple baptism area, through the Roman period, to the Gothic part. The extra gallery of the monastery is also worth a visit, with many icons on the pillars.

Camp des Milles is a museum and memorial located in France, which was once an internment camp during World War II. It is the only still-intact deportation camp in the country, where thousands of individuals from various nationalities were detained before being transferred to Auschwitz. The site provides educational tours and exhibitions, allowing visitors to experience the living conditions of the detainees firsthand. The museum showcases artworks created by artists who were imprisoned there, including Max Ernst and Hans Bellmer.
I visited there on September 1st, 2024. During a weekend of the summer school break there are very few visitors. I believe that it is only because only a few people know about it. It deserves much more attention. I have been to multiple Holocaust museums around the world and this stands right at the top alongside ones like the ones in Los Angeles and in Washington DC. It requires half a day for a visit, or at least a couple hours in a rush. The museum is truly amazing! I took the self audio guide. This is a fully modern museum, with many audio-visual displays, movie rooms with panoramic screens etc - hosted in the original detention camp building. This combination gives the visitor a unique authentic experience alongside the rich educational content. Most of the wall displays were in both French and English (except of the last, new section about the common phases of genocides). The modern rooms contain a detailed chronological account of the major European events leading to the Holocaust; the personal stories of men and women detained here, including poets, artists and scientists; the history of the camp itself within the context of France during WWII, before and after the arrival of the Nazi. The rest of the building is accessible via doors and passages, revealing the original structure and the harsh conditions the inmates were held here - until most of them were sent on trains to Auschwitz to their death. Outside, across the road, there is one car of such a train, at a memorial site. Note: The museum entrance might look like it is closed. You need to approach the security control building and ring the bell to be let in.
A. A — Google review
Such a heavy and impressive place. Their unique approach in three steps makes it a complete visit with history, impact and reflection on the war, it's aftermath and the understanding of how it happened and how it could be prevented in the future. They offer a 2h guided tour but if you go on your own, you might need 3h to thoroughly experience the whole place, filled with small details, proof of the people who were once between these walls.
Pierre-Olivier L — Google review
Well worth visiting. We spent more time in the museum than we were told the visit would take because there was so much fascinating information to learn. We paid for audio guides but wouldn't recommend these to anyone who speaks French or English as most of the information was just a duplicate of what we could read in both these languages on the exhibits. If you speak a different language, the audio guide may be more useful to you.
Jacqueline W — Google review
A must visit for historians and for those who want to learn how to see signs of impending genocide, and be inspired by stories of courageous resistance. The security to get into the site is telling of its importance. *everyone can react, everyone can resist, everyone in their own way*
Benjamin R — Google review
This place is definitely worth a visit, I visited on a warm spring day in March and there really was no line to enter, everything is kept essentially how it was and it is an interesting feel walking through here knowing what went on.
Hugo P — Google review
Definitely worth a visit, especially on a hot summer day. It is a fascinating place to see how history touched this small area. You are able to tour through the entire tile factory with plenty of information about France's role in the war. I particularly loved how blunt they were about the French government not helping. You will go through a well organised path and tour of the factory.
Dylan F — Google review
I’ve previously visited the Dachau concentration camp in Munich and I was expecting to see sth similar, but what I saw was only the inside of the building. There was no even the beds. I’m disappointed and I paid 11 for entry with the teacher reduction which is so expensive!! However, the lady at the reception was noce and helpful.
Yaz — Google review
We took a guided tour, which I absolutely recommend and believe much better than just walking around. After seeing many other well-made museums of this sort (e.g. Auschwitz), I thought the quality of the museum and accessibility were not bad could be better. If you don't have a car, you can easily get there by bus 4 from Aix-en-Provence but be careful about the way back - the bus station for return is about 10 min away from the museum.

Hôtel de Caumont is an elegant 18th-century mansion located in the Mazarin neighborhood of Aix-en-Provence, known for its art exhibitions, courtyard gardens, and a charming café. The mansion showcases Parisian influences and represents a beautiful illustration of French architecture from that era. It follows an architectural design that emphasizes the interplay between courtyard and garden, creating a harmonious urban oasis.
This place is truly unique, with its architecture, art-filled ambiance, elegant décor, and stylish furniture, as well as its beautiful garden. We had a wonderful time sitting in the garden section of the restaurant, enjoying our coffee and delicious dessert in a refined atmosphere with excellent service. If you’re a tourist in the city like us, this is a must-visit spot—you might even come across an art exhibition!
Oguzhan K — Google review
Cute place to visit. You can walk around the ground floor for free, and get to the garden. The exhibition is paid, and there is also a restaurant/cafe which you can visit and enjoy a drink/food in the small garden or inside. The interior is pretty interesting and there were a lot of artworks to be seen all around. We were especially amazed by the small labyrinth (parterre design) in the back garden. 🥰

A gorgeous oasis of peace, style and refinement in the heart of Aix-en-Provence. I loved the 30' film about Cezanne's life showed as part of the visit. The permanent collection is interesting and the layout of the building impressive. The two leveled garden is wonderful in all seasons...and the elegant café adds to the experience. An absolute pleasure and a treat. A reminder that.. La vie est belle...

Always a magical visit to this special space displaying the current art scene in the heart of Aix en Provence. Niki de Saint Phalle exhibition was incredible! The Musée du Vieil-Aix is located in a 17th-century mansion and offers a glimpse into the history and evolution of Aix-en-Provence. Visitors can explore period furnishings, paintings, pottery, costumes, and figurines that reflect the traditions of old Aix. The museum also features wooden puppets in a 'talking crib' and screens used in Aix's annual Fete-Dieu celebrations.
I enjoyed this museum! 4€ for people above 26 and a nice thing to do while in Aix. The museum has a wonderful collection of art made by the owners
Claudia M — Google review
I must be missing something for this to get an average of four on Google. A very sporadic display - no story or theme really linking them. Limited educational text. If it’s pouring with rain and you want 10 minutes out of the weather then maybe, otherwise a waste of 6 euro entry. Also like another reviewer mentioned we were followed around the museum as if we were a group of naughty school children in a corner shop. Weird.
James P — Google review
By my understanding and standards, this place cannot be considered a museum. There are hardly any objects on display. I entered with the hope of finding an ethnographic museum, but it was a disappointment. Moreover, if you don’t know French language like us, you won’t be able to read anything or understand the visual presentations. Even if you consider the entrance fee as a donation, you’d be better off spending your time exploring the historic streets of this beautiful city.
Oguzhan K — Google review
Very limited collection focussing mainly on ecclesiastical themes… no English translations so only go if you are passionate about the history of Aix and can speak good French!
Josie — Google review
There wasn’t much to see, unfortunately. I was hoping to get a look at the mansion’s interior and some original furniture, but it turned out to be a small museum with just a few Cézanne paintings upstairs, and some rather creepy puppet dolls 😂
H S — Google review
The city was founded in 123 B.C. but the museum touches on the period starting from the 17th century only. You'll see a few models and artifacts from that era but you won't learn much about the actual history of the city for the most part. The displayed paintings are mostly related to Cezanne's fellow artists/friends, half of the museum could be regarded as a small extension of Musée Granet which is dedicated to Cezanne himself and many more painters. There's a room with an interesting 3D model for a cupola project of St. Peter's Basilica (Vatican), the video is quite interesting telling the story of the project but the connection to Aix is that a collector bought the model in Italy and brought it to Aix. The museum has some artifacts but it's missing out most of the city's interesting history unfortunately. It can be a nice break for 20-25 min if you are in downtown, entrance is free on the first Sunday of the month!

Followed around the entire museum like we weren't trustworthy. Made me feel pretty uncomfortable. I left after about 7 minutes.

Fondation Vasarely is an architectural center located in Aix-en-Provence, designed by the contemporary Franco-Hungarian artist Victor Vasarely. The building, constructed between 1971 and 1976, houses Vasarely's optical and kinetic art integrated into its facades and internal walls. It reflects Vasarely's avant-garde vision of the artist's role in the 20th century.
It's unique: a massive, bonkers and striking space. Victor Vasarely built this huge 16-hexagon temple to house his own art and it should be at the top of your list for a visit to Aix. The biographical exhibition and large halls are striking, but just as interesting was the smaller exhibition to Claire Vasarely who made have done all the work..
Seiriol D — Google review
Stunning location with mind blowing artwork that is so beautiful and ahead of it’s time. Really enjoyed and felt privileged to see that, but unfortunately maintenance of the building inside and outside really left us a bit sad and disappointed. Everything felt outdated and abandoned 20 years ago. Outside is not that bad really but inside… pictures speaks for itself. And on top of that entrance is not cheap at all I think 16 eur regular and 12 for students, which I’m happy to pay but also expect to be cleaned well preserved and not only that but taken care of with love, which here doesn’t feel at all. Anyways I would still recommend for others to visit and hopefully whoever is in charge should start taking his job seriously and fix this foundation like it deserves it.
Luka B — Google review
Very interesting museum if you are interested in this kind of art. Not many explanations in English. Visit lasts around 1 hour, vrry easy to go with the bus .
Maria D — Google review
Really worth a visit from Aix. Easy to access by bus and a fascinating insight into Op(tical) Art. Also, good views of Mont Ste Victoire and the surrounding countryside. It could do with a decent cafe instead of the Snackerie with a coffee machine and chocolate bar dispenser. Worth it for the art though.

If you have an appreciation for modern art, this is absolutely worth the stop. We spent about 2 hours inside and that felt like a good amount to see everything. Don’t miss the second floor as there is lots to see up there as well. To get the full effect of the galleries, have a seat in the middle and give your eyes some time to take in the full effect

An excellent meusem. Highly recommend. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Great for kids as well as adults. We walked from the museum to the old town which while it won't make much of an Instagram post was fun in it's own way. We saw some poor reviews of the museum which might give more insight to the reviewer than the place.

If you like Vasarelli's art as I do, then this is a 100% must see. The big works of art in the large hexagonal galleries with lots of natural light are amazing. I agree with others comments that it needs more love and care, but the beauty and genius of his art and design still come through in flying colors!

Pavillon Vendôme is a 17th-century pavilion turned art museum, originally built for the Duke of Vendôme. It is surrounded by formal gardens and offers visitors a serene oasis to escape the sun. Aix-en-Provence, known as the city of water and art, boasts numerous fountains dating back to the 15th to 19th centuries.
A gorgeous art museum surrounded by amazing gardens. We arrived 10 minutes before closing and the staff still let us in to explore quickly - really appreciated it seeing how we’d travelled all the way from Australia! ❤️
Angel K — Google review
From the online description, we were expecting to see a 17th century, 3 storey home, filled with furniture. What we saw were sparsely decorated rooms with only a few pieces of furniture and instead a quirky art exhibition. Only the ground and first floor could be accessed. There was a locked door to the top floor. The exhibition looked at interesting ways to portray the female organs as well as scars and reproduction. I thought the exhibition was tastefully executed and interesting, but not why I came here. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The entry price is only €4/person and is an interesting way to spend an hour.

Great and lovely garden to visit, really relaxing and quiet in the morning. Didn’t go inside to get full experience but I would recommend to take a look at least from outisde
Luka B — Google review
Was denied entry with a baby. As they have stairs one has to carry the child but the staff won’t agree to leave the stroller at the ticket counter even if the museum was empty and there was plenty of space. They wrote this is a wheelchair accessible place but this is probably a lie as they said strollers are not allowed because of stairs. This happens in France and tourist destination 😳😳😳 probably the stony entrance is an indication not to proceed with stroller. Aix en Provence really needs to work on their family friendly policy as this is the most baby unfriendly town I so far have visited. It’s not the only place in this town where parents with stroller are unwelcome or thrown away. TOTAL SHAME and this is holiday destination. Someone should train and sensibilize staff responsible for tourism in Aix. I don’t plan to check out other Provence cities and just won’t plan it as holiday destination ever again even coming with adults with full mobility. I will pass my experience around as well to warn other people from such discriminatory cities and museums.

Very beautiful place to hang out and relax - the garden is absolutely gorgeous and the exterior of the palace is as well. I’d suggest to skip the visit of the interior because it kinda ruined the image of the place. Grab a book or plan the rest of your trip laying on the grass and enjoy the nice bucolic atmosphere: the inside is literally 5 rooms with a fireplace and a couple of ancient furniture pieces. It’s nothing special. The art exposition is very… artistic… I believe only true art aficionados can enjoy it

Parc Rambot is a serene English-style garden with expansive tree-lined walkways, lush lawns, and a play area. It's a popular spot for locals to gather and enjoy various park features. However, one downside is its early closure at sunset. The opening hours vary seasonally, but visitors appreciate the friendly groundsman who promptly opens the park. Its beautiful setting near the town center makes it an ideal place for a leisurely meal, wine tour, or walking tour.

One of the nice parks in aix en Provence. It is a great place to relax, yoga, meditation and of course for picnic with family and friends. It has lush green grassland and kids play area too. There’s ample parking space in the vicinity. The parc usually closes at 19h30.

Cézanne's studio, located on Les Lauves hill in Aix-en-Provence, was designed by the artist himself in 1902. Although he primarily painted outdoors, the studio served as a retreat during cold weather. Preserved as he left it, the studio offers a tangible connection to Cézanne for his admirers. Just north of the studio is Les Lauves, where Cézanne often painted Mont Sainte-Victoire.
Really nice experience. Amazing to step into Cezanne’s atelier and see some of the pieces that used to be there at the time. Lovely tour guide and very friendly staff at the shop. Would definitely recommend reserving a spot in advance on their website. And don’t forget to walk up the hill of painters afterwards for a great view and experience where Cezanne used to create part of his art.
Hannah — Google review
We enjoyed the guided visit very much. The guide spoke excellent English and described many interesting vignettes about Cezanne's years in the studio and efforts to preserve it after his death. We look forward to returning to see the progress on restoring more of the studio.
Jocelyn S — Google review
A lovely place to visit, even though there is only one room to see. The most interesting part was listening to our guide, who is very knowledgeable (and speaks English perfectly)! I hope that eventually this space will be even more interesting, with more things to view and I'm grateful that they do their best to save the remembrances of a great painter.
Anna — Google review
The bright southern French sunlight and sweet air made this place feel magical. Watching a group painting outdoors added to the charm—it was a beautiful and inspiring moment.
Anais H — Google review
Boring tour of women, who can hardly speak English. The content of the tour is irrelevant to the art of Cézanne. Just silly little anecdotes. Complete wastevofvtime. What a shame
Adam M — Google review
The studio I visited itself is one room and oat of some gardens. It's not accessible and it's a ways from the city center. On the way back to our horn we had to wait over 1 hour for the bus (it was a Sunday) and no Ubers / Bolts were available that could fit a wallet on the trunk. So it just wasn't worth it for the mobility aspect given that we saw one room.
Judith S — Google review
Excellent experience, made very enjoyable by the stories and anecdotes from the guide
Jon O — Google review
We tried to book for the museum but that was sold out many weeks before we arrived so thought a tour of his studio would be great. Ticket €9.50 each, says to arrive 20 minutes before your time slot. No idea why especially as only 3 chairs to sit on in the gift shop/waiting area. The staff at the desk weren’t particularly friendly. Our guide introduced himself and off we went through the garden, stopped to warn us about the path (it was very wet and slippery), and we arrived at his house. We entered the first room on the ground floor, stood around and given a background into Cezanne’s life. Then up the stairs to the studio. Stools provided to sit and hear more about Cezanne’s life and approach and then items of interest in his studio. There is his easel, a palette and a few bits and pieces but that’s about it. It’s a very empty space really for a studio and doesn’t give you a feel for how he worked here or how the space was really used. It’s a room basically. And that’s the tour, which a quick read of a website could have provided. Our guide was nice enough. He has perfect English however has a very thick French accent and spoke very fast so made it difficult to understand him ( I work with people from across the globe so very comfortable with accented English but even I struggled). NB. parking nearby is a nightmare so in fact turning up early proved to be a good idea purely to find a place to park. Tip- buy tickets online ahead as it does sell out.

Château La Coste is a futuristic wine producer that offers more than just tastings. It's a place where you can immerse yourself in the world of modern art while enjoying delicious dining options at the café. The summer program at Château La Coste includes musical evenings, cinema nights, and concert events set amidst the beautiful vineyards.
We spent the afternoon exploring the grounds and art and then enjoyed a meal and wine at the Terrace. What a special experience!! Give yourself time to really explore, the staff said 2-2.5 hours of walk and they were not wrong. Wear comfortable shoes! The art is extremely well curated and engaging. We ate the Terrace afterwards and had a wonderful time! Live music, delicious, food and refreshing wine!

We had an incredible tour with Guillaume yesterday. He showed us around the winery and then led a tasting - he was extremely knowledgable, passionate and enthusiastic about wine. Magnificent and so poetic. It reminded me of the open-air museums you can find in the Hudson Valley (north of New York), except even better. Thank you for bringing this concept to France, thank you for letting people have their own journey. Also love that signage is brought to its minimum, this is how art should be experienced. <3

Great visit to Chateau La Coste. Outside walking path of 2-3 hours with grandiose art installations and stunning views. It can get a bit steep but otherwise a comfortable hike. Enjoyed a small lunch on their terrace and a small visit to their wine shop. Highly recommend a visit!
Niels R — Google review
Okay, so there is a disconnect here for me... The spaces are magnificent, they setting pastoral and charming, the architecture modern and somewhat brutalist, and staff extremely kind and knowledgeable. Where there is an issue is the art, the "art-tour" through the grounds, amd how they orchestrate the way in which you view the art, and the absolute lack of basic amenities such as available water, toilette, and basic safety items for guests. The art for the most part left me wanting more, and more of it. The Richard Serra "sculpture" I would say is am insult to hardworking metal and steel tradesmen around the world; overly simplistic and poorly placed. The Foxes by Michael Stipe were very nice, inviting and well placed, well done. The Liam Gillick "Multiplied Resistance Screened" was a lovely addition to his body of work and very inviting and situated perfectly. The shining star for me was the Tadao Ando "Pavillion of Four Cubes..." exterior was stark and brave, the entrance creepy and inviting, the darkness of the path to the interior of 4 illuminated cubes resting inside was sublime. So welll thought out and put into action. LOVELY The Prune Nourry " Mater Earth" was as expected; beautiful and large, and appropriately placed. The Frank Gehry Pavillion was very nicely done, comfortable audience seats in a natural setting, and looks like it has great acoustics for performances, but in a weird way it seemed out of place to me, but i saw it in the daylight, nighttime may have an entirely different effect. Now to some sore points. As a museum and installation fan, I am accustomed to different places and configurations for display spaces. This layout took it to another level. Spread over many acres, on trails that for some would be difficult or impossible to traverse. Couple this with the lack of ANY drinking water, at any point on the entire trail system, coupled with NO bathroom facilities save for those in the main building, these things seemed to scream a lack of respect for the customer who has paid a fee to do the long, and for 7+ months a year, HOT trail walk. I was told I could purchase a 19 Euro glass Damian Hirst water bottle at the shop and fill it up for my walk...my how generous of Lacoste! As someone who has lived part time in France for many years, would recommend this place for a visit, but I myself would not return with them for the visit. Very disappointing, because it seems as though ABSOLUTE creature comforts, and frankly safety, have been eliminated for the profit of the owners.

The Granet Museum, housed in a renovated chapel, is a striking destination for art enthusiasts. It boasts an impressive collection of 20th-century artworks by renowned artists such as Picasso, Giacometti, Mondrian, and more. The museum also features a fascinating archaeological display including a reconstructed Celtic head cult temple from nearby Entremont. Visitors can admire masterpieces by Rubens, Rembrandt, Ingres and Cezanne's paintings including a portrait of Emile Zola.
One of the best-curated museums I’ve visited in a long time. The story of Jean Planque is fascinating, and the museum has an outstanding collection featuring Picasso, Dubuffet, and many others. Each collection is documented with letters and correspondence between Planque and the artists and wallpaper of Planque's original residence lines the museum. While not a massive museum, it’s absolutely worth a visit while in Aix. Plus, free entry for students under 26 and complimentary locker storage!

Could not see the exhibition, not even get a glimpse – at 17:40 it was declared closed. Though the big info poster next to the entrance says it’s opened till 18:00. we would have been happy to get an impression of the place. But apparently this includes the time for the personnel to lock all the doors…

This spin off collection from the Granet Museum is fabulous. It was only by accident that I found out that you get a discount on entry if you visit using the full price ticket from the main museum. Each artist is well explained and the background of how the collection came about was clearly and beautifully explained. Well worth the visit. Entry was not confusing like the main museum, but the discount is not as well advertised as it could be.

Your €6.50 ticket gives you access to two art galleries, the Musee Granet and the Granet XXe Collection Jean Planque, which are a 5 minute walk apart. The Jean Planque collection is set in an old church. The collection includes a handful of Picassos, a Van Gogh, a Monet, and more. The entire gallery is probably about 50 pictures, and takes about 15-20 minutes to look round. There is a toilet inside as well, and lift between floors if needed.

We tried to visit this after the Cezanne exhibition at the Granet Museum, where there was a sign suggesting that we do so. We tried on three different days during the official opening hours to no avail - on 2 occasions there were signs saying that the museum had been booked by group tours, on the other no sign and another frustrated visitor said that they had asked at the Granet, but they didn't know why it was not open!

What an amazing little gem of a museum! They have several wonderful Picassos, Monet, Van Gogh and other artists, too. Planque was friends with all the artists and this was his private collection. The museum displays photos of his home with the pieces hanging on his walls. Can you imagine having so many fine pieces of art displayed at home? Wow! Planque himself was an artist and was exceptionally talented. The museum itself is like an art piece too. 5 starts all around!

Nature & Parks
Parc Saint-Mitre is a charming public park located in Aix en Provence, France. It features tree-lined avenues, a large meadow, a waterfall, pond, stream, and various play and rest areas. Visitors can explore an arboretum, greenhouse, and rose garden while enjoying the refreshing ambiance of the park. Additionally, there's a permanent puppet theatre that offers entertainment on some weekend afternoons.
The best part of the park is that there are no dog poops at all. It is the 21st century, we can divide atoms into thousand pieces and answer the most difficult problems for our civilization but hélas, dog owners still live in dark ages, when all the poops were on the streets of cities. And outside of the park you can see them everywhere dragging the rest of us into their darkness. If you own a dog, own your dog's shit as well. If you want to keep your dog but don't want any shit, then what makes you think that anyone else would like to see it on their streets or parks or their doorsteps. Totally irresponsible. Thanks a lot for this park keepers that they forbid any animal walking inside... Yet I have seen irresponsible dog walkers with their pooping dogs inside the park. What to do when a human is more animal than the animal they own.

L'incontournable is a French restaurant with a small menu, which makes the dishes refined in taste. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the location in the heart of Aix-en-Provence with three bottles of roses in the fountain makes it special.
We had an absolutely amazing experience at L’incontournable! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was welcoming and elegant, and the staff was incredibly attentive and professional throughout the entire evening. The food was nothing short of extraordinary. We ordered the sea bass, the lamb, and the daily special, a perfectly cooked salmon and each dish was beautifully presented and full of rich, balanced flavors. The quality of the ingredients and the care put into the preparation were evident in every bite. We also tried the dessert, which was equally impressive, refined, delicious, and the perfect way to end an exceptional meal. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience. We’ll definitely be returning!

A very nice restaurant in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, with outdoor seating and beautifully presented French or fusion dishes. The complimentary gazpacho was refreshing and delicious on a hot summer day, and I enjoyed it even as someone who is not a big fan of cold soups. The fish dish had typical Mediterranean flavors, whereas the beef dish was clearly influenced by Japanese cuisine, both very fresh and tasty. The side salad was great as well. Price is a bit higher compared to other restaurants nearby. Service was friendly but a bit slow as they get very busy in the evenings.

In the centre of town is an amazing market selling fresh local produce, pears, cheese, veg and meat. Given that excellence it’s strange not to find that quality in the restaurants. L’Incontournable was a surprise find. Located in a picturesque square north of the market its menu is diverse and inventive with dishes and wines that are both local and delicious.

A great experience! I dined in the evening and the service was incredibly friendly, and I wasn't made to feel rushed at all, which isn't always the case for someone eating alone. The venue offers specialties like mussels, steak, and duck with set menus and live piano music every day after 6 pm. Visitors praise the fresh and delicious food, elegant and polite waitstaff, as well as the excellent value for money.
Nice place, open 24 hours, with a great variety of food. The seafood was standout, especially the mussels, and I loved my pasta carbonara.

Very good service and open when most other restaurants are not serving food, which makes this a good stop if your schedule requires you to have a meal at an unusual time. I agree with many of the previous positive comments, mussels, large and tasty, and veal also recommended. Fast food restaurant
Five Guys Aix-en-Provence is a fast-food establishment that offers custom-made burgers, fries, and hot dogs. Customers can enjoy complimentary peanuts while they wait for their orders. It is similar to the American chain and delivers consistently good quality food. Additionally, patrons have the option to pair their meal with a refreshing beer.
I really appreciate the service at this restaurant. They helped me a lot and I really enjoy my burger and fries. First, the handsome cashier at the front counter warmly guided me to order at the manual counter since I was waiting by the self-service kiosk. He then thoughtfully introduced the restaurant’s popular burgers in English (as I don’t speak French) and made suitable recommendations based on my appetite. Later, a female staff member helped me enter the restroom password (which I couldn’t find on the receipt) and assisted me with sorting the waste after the meal, as I wasn’t very familiar with the process.
雷晓乐 — Google review
Overall, the experience is similar to what one would expect in America, however the drink costs 4.1 € and you are only allowed to fill it once, yes there are no refills. Additionally the fries are nowhere near the quality of those in America. The staff was somewhat rude to me as an American and insisted to get a person to translate despite somewhat understanding English.

A S — Google review
Great place for burgers. Burgers are higher quality than other fast food restaurants, French fries are good. Totally love how they tell you where to potatoes come from for the fries on a given day. the customer service is pretty good too. Finished a little bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions, lettuce tomatoes, mustard and ketchup rather quickly. Quite filling! Glad I didn’t order the bigger one. The peanut butter milkshake was really good too. Although the milk shake cups are decent size for Europe, my milkshake was slightly less filled than my wife’s. Could have said something but just thought it was too much trouble. Maybe they should have a standard amount that comes out of the machine ? Overall, we love coming to this 5 Guys to get a little American fix from time to time. Do we pay for it? Yep! Drive from Marseille, and the cost is higher than other fast food restaurants. But we think it’s a great little burger date from time to time.
Matthew R — Google review
The burger was delicious in that simple but juicy and decadent American way, and they're not shy with the Cajun seasoning on the very generous fries servings. But our milkshake didn't arrive until well after we had finished our meal (another French family suffered a similar fate) - maybe the French see it as a dessert? Hard to recommend with the slow service given the prices - 10 EUR for a burger and 7.50 for a medium fries.

Best crêpe I've had! So many options to choose from. I had a savoury crêpe with 2x fillings. They are a good price (especially for a tourist), quick, and fulling! Literally the best crêpes in Aix ! It may seem like a sketchy place (since you need to go under the road) but it is totally not. The lady at the counter is always nice. They have an extensive selection of choice and you can even buy raw dough. They have milkshakes in the summer. Completely recommend that place, so worth it!!

So many options - sweet or savory. Highly customizable. I like the ham, cheese, and egg one a lot - very filling too so perfect for lunch on the go. Service is fast and you can watch the master crêpe-maker (?) at work. Plus you can eat and walk around at the same time... not very french but very efficient. Amorino Gelato - Aix Foch is a popular spot in Aix-en-Provence for delicious and Instagram-worthy ice cream. The gelato is crafted into beautiful flower shapes, and despite being a bit pricey, you can enjoy up to three flavors in a small cone. The staff are friendly and accommodating, even allowing for multiple flavor choices. Whether you visit in the hot summer months or during the cooler seasons, the smooth texture and wide variety of flavors make it a delightful treat.
We went after dinner and it is way less crowded than the other branches. We had a lovely relaxed time and we were able to sit. The Inimitable + Vanilla + Tiramisu Macaron is a winning combination. I don’t even like macarons but this one was so good. They don’t sell in scoops here. I stead you choose the size of the cup or cone and they try to fit as many flavors as you like in it. For example, if you get the small cup, they can try to fit until 3 flavors if you want.
UnDiplomatic W — Google review
This gelato shop was absolutely delightful! I got to choose six different flavors, and they crafted the gelato into a beautiful flower shape—such a lovely touch. I don’t speak French, but Isabella, who helped me, was incredibly kind and spoke great English, which made the whole experience even better. Unfortunately, before I even had a chance to taste it, the macaron on top fell to the ground. Later, when I went back inside to grab some napkins and throw away my trash, Isabella greeted me with a warm smile and asked how I liked the gelato. I told her her recommendation was perfect, but sadly the macaron had fallen. Without hesitation, she gave me a new one for free! Excellent service, kind staff, and great communication in English—Isabella truly made this place stand out. Highly recommend

Lovely ice cream, even in November I couldn’t resist it! One of the particular reasons why I like them is because you can have a few flavours in your beautiful flower not the standard two flavours! Amazing pizza! The chevre et miel pizza is incredible. Nice chewy crust that doesn't get soggy, large size pizza, nice fluffy outer crust. My husband really enjoyed his salami pizza.
Marcia S — Google review
The pizza is good. But that’s about it. Luckily there was a table for 4 that was not reserved for the next 1.5h. We figured we can eat quickly. We wanted to order only three pizzas since I prefer not to eat late and the kids wanted pizza for our last meal on a French soil. It turns out they have a policy of a mandatory plate per person. We had already ordered two glasses of wine (not good at all) so I suggested to order two desserts instead of the forth pizza… but no - it needs to be a plate. Fine, now we ended up not drinking the wine, eating desserts elsewhere and leaving no tip… Not sure if that is a french thing or italian or a combination of both. I would not recommend the restaurant.

Gulli Parc Aix en Provence is an indoor adventure playground located somewhat out of the city center, making it a great option for bad weather days. The park offers areas for both younger and older children to explore, with clean facilities and somewhat air-conditioned spaces. It's a popular spot for birthday parties and provides food and drinks for purchase. While some visitors note that the plastic cutlery provided may be flimsy, overall it's well-equipped and clean.
Amazing indoor jungle gym for kids! Everything padded, the only place to get hurt is walking on the rope net to go up a floor. Youngest kids area is maybe a bit lacking as ours didn't want to stay in that area too long. The best part is that parents can accompany their kids everywhere (did another place like this in France, much stricter rules, Gulli is far better). Will definitely return on our next trip to France!

A great place to have a birthday party for young children! My daughter attended a 9 year old party and said it was one of the best parties she had attended. There appeared to be a shop which sold food and drinks. The toilets appeared to be clean. The park itself is within a large building and was somewhat air-conditioned. There were areas for the younger children (3-5 years of age) and areas where the older more able children could explore on their own. Lots of objects to climb, run through, hide and generally have lots of fun! My children want me to take them back so it must have been lots of fun for them!

I went to order some lunch around 13h19 only to be told that no hot food was served after 13h15 , i replied saying sorry but i did not see this on the web site ( I may have missed this ) nor anywhere written here! Or I would have ordered as soon as we had entered!! The person behind the counter proceeded by placing a small board from under the counter on the side ,they forgot to put up earlier!! Other than this inconvenience the park is very big plenty to do for young children, they had fun for hours, it's clean enough staff are friendly.

Very nice close park. My 2 years old loves it. The opening hours are perfect. One minus is the stairs in the entrance how are people with babies are spouse to claim that?
More — Google review
Great for kids.. Bring earplugs for yourself..lol... tho they do have quiet room double glazed so you can see out for adults and tiny Babies. Well equipped, clean. Average snack food. Only gripe is the plastic cutlery is too cheap.. bits break off fork tips... And if you are not careful you can swallow them unknowingly. Dangerous as quite sharp.. I know because I ate some bits of fork unknowingly... So advise bring your own stronger disposable cutlery.. other than that 5 stars..!!
M — Google review
Dirty place all over. The toilets are the worst. So smelly that you can smell them from far away. Inside a mess from a floor till washbasins. Some of them are out of order. Little toilets for kids are not seperated which means when one child makes poo all other must see it! Re play areas: they are surrounded by slippery floor. Kids are obligated to wear socks and this makes folor more dangerous. A floor at football pitch is very slippery also. My 6 years old daughter just slided while she was there, she hurt her nose and she was bleeding. No first aid kit in a place! A receptionist gave me an ice in a plastic disposable gloves wrapped in a tissue! No air condition all around. In a relax room for parents there is one but doesn't work. It is not only hot but stuffy place. Awful food. Almost all frozen. Pancakes and brownie are frozen. Imagine this in France? A service lady responded to my surprise 'It's not a resturant'. Of course, isn't but you ban to bring food!

Le Ramus is a charming Franco-Thai family restaurant in Aix-En-Provence that offers traditional Thai recipes alongside original creations. The venue boasts beautiful decor and a spacious outdoor seating area. Guests can expect delicious food with generous portions, an extensive wine and beer list, and attentive service. The menu features a wide selection of French local specialties, including perfectly executed dishes like beef tartare and Caesar salad.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely one of the best meals we’ve had in Provence! Every dish was beautifully presented, made with fresh ingredients, and cooked to absolute perfection — flavorful, generous portions, and just hit the spot. Both indoor and outdoor seating were charming — cozy, thoughtfully decorated, and full of character. But the highlight of our lunch? Yori! He was wonderful — spoke perfect English, incredibly patient and kind, and made us feel genuinely welcomed and well taken care of. His service brought a true sense of warm, authentic hospitality that made our whole experience even more special. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a place that combines great food, lovely ambiance, and heartfelt service.

Wonderful experience for a birthday dinner. Excellent service provider by a friendly team who could answer every question about the menu or wine. Allowed us to taste various wines before choosing just the right ones for us. Each of our meals were exquisite. I had the fish special and loved it. A bit cramped but to be expected in a popular place.
Joe C — Google review
We stopped for a family lunch at 1.30pm on Monday, 4 adults and 4 kids aged 1 to 7. There were plenty of seats both inside and outside. The waiter showed us to the table and helped us with the menu. The kids’ plates arrived very quickly within 10 minutes, since we ordered the dish of the day, namely fries and beef cutlets; for the starters the adults had a very tasty focaccia with truffles, but then we had to wait for another 30 minutes since the other guests came and were served ahead of us but we were just being ignored , the kids went bananas and the adults were on edge until we literally intercepted the waiter and demanded our meals to be served. The shrimps were tasty, the fish was very soft and melted in the mouth, the steak was also delicious, however the fries were extra dry. Then my husband found hairs on his plate and we complained to the waiter but he didn’t even apologize!!! Instead he just took the plate away and disappeared. We paid 200 euros!!! For 3 kids plates with fries and cutlets, focaccia, 1 fish with sweet potato, a plate of shrimps with rice and a steak with fries. We left zero tips for such a poor service. The food was ok but the service was awful. We are definitely not coming back

Came for the squid! The portion for the squid was so big totally worth it! I can only say i wished they went a little heavier on seasoning as the salmon tartar and squid lacked flavour. Otherwise really fresh ingredients! I saw someone get the fish which was later deboned looked so good, would get that next time. Ambiance was great!
Yvonne Q — Google review
Absolute perfection, the best meal we had in Provence. The beef, creamy polenta, risotto, cod, burrata, rose wine - all of it was so delicious. The interior decor inside is gorgeous and service from our waiter was the best. If you can only eat in 1 restaurant in Aix - make it this one!
Jill M — Google review
This place surpassed any expectations I had. The maitre’d knew who I was from the time I walked in. They catered for me (coeliac) so well, right down to understanding that the sauce that came with the fish had flour in it and made the appropriate adjustments. I was hesitant to order a Negroni coming from the capital of Negronis (Melbourne) but the waiter assured me that if I didn’t like it, he’d arrange a new drink. It was fantastic. The food was so, so tasty and the creme brûlée was enough for a family. Can’t recommend this place more highly.

Amazing atmosphere under the shaded trees with a view on a hotel particulier. We had a beautiful lunch served, fresh and perfectly cooked sea bream with beautiful vegetables, seasonal and locally sourced. Wine was really good. They have chefs on rotation - we had a chef from some of London’s best (and favourite) restaurants. We fully recommend this!

Amazing ambience with restaurant essentially in a court yard. Beautiful for nice weather and a glass of wine. The food was okay too, portion sizes slightly on the smaller side but to be expected for the ambience
Winnie S — Google review
Very nice location, beautiful garden - horrible service at the restaurant. We had reserved a table 6 weeks ahead with additional confirmation 2 days prior. Upon arrival, there was no table prepared, most of the main dishes sold out. The entrées were forgotten, resulting in 3 main courses being served first. The staff seemed unbothered! When we ordered bread, we received a small basket with burned bread that looked like coal. We were offered a discount on the final bill, once we payed, the missing entrées were still added. Apparently "by mistake"(???) It is truly disappointing that our experience went so wrong. The location and the food were amazing - to blame is the unprofessional, unorganised and clearly unbothered staff, that seems to have no understanding of creating a pleasant experience for their customers. Edit : After our guided tour we received a personal call from the owner who dearly apologised for the inconvenience. He invited us to a friendly discussion on the lunch faux-pas and we ended up having a very nice conversation about art! This added a pleasant touch to the unpleasant lunch.

Stumbled across this cafe after stopping into the Chapelle Granet exhibition. Service was exceptional, my grilled cheese came out promptly with a delicious side salad and atmosphere was very relaxed. Cappuccino was 3,50 euros and grilled cheese was only 5,00 euros! Recommend for a mid day break :)

This is my favorite spot in all of Aix-en-Provence. Highly recommend for students and those in a study abroad program. The staff is all fluent in English and very friendly, but they will let you practice your French if you’d prefer to challenge yourself! The coffee is also some of the best had here. The food menu is small, but consistently good. Beyond that, you will find a lot of things that other cafes don’t readily offer such as complimentary water, wifi, outlets, and public restrooms. They also have a loyalty program if you become a regular like I did.

Best coffee in Aix in my opinion. Cappuccino always come nicely. 2nd floor space is nice to work with wifi and plug but when it gets more crowded it can be busy and loud (just on the weekends) Staffs are all sweet and attentive. Highly highly recommended 👍🏽

I was here all of 30 minutes before being thrown out. Owner maintained there were people downstairs waiting to eat. Nobody came up to look for a table or was ordering downstairs. Person two rows behind me had also ordered a drink and was studying there long before I was. I would at least merit an apology or an explanation that wasn’t a blatant lie. Really not worth visiting. I find the staff to be generally unfriendly each time I visit but needless to say I won’t be back after I was targeted today.

Really great frappe (3,50€). You can choose how much milk and sugar you want (less milk is very similar to a refreshing iced coffee) and if you take away it's served in a nice recyclable cup. They have several other beverages and the employees are very friendly. There wasn't an outside sitting area when we came but we just sat down on the stairs of the church just across. Definitely recommend this place!

Parking lot
If you're planning a visit to Aix-en-Provence, Parking Aix-en-Provence Krypton - EFFIA is an excellent choice for your parking needs. This modern, round-shaped garage offers ample space and a hassle-free experience compared to the often chaotic street parking in European cities. For just 3.50 Euros, you can park your vehicle securely without worrying about tight spots or damaging your car.
Best parking experience in Europe so far! Parking in any major city in Europe is a nightmare. For 3.50 Euro in Aix, I got to park my car in a large modern structure without fear of hitting the wall with my SUV or trying to squeeze into a tiny space. Also used my entry ticket with a barcode to go roundtrip to Centre Ville next to the Tourist Office to get my maps, advice, and free WiFi. Was able to get another free ticket for my guest. Plenty of charging points for EVs. There was a public bathroom also. Needed to use my Google translator, but everyone here in Aix are friendly and helpful.

€3.50 for me and partner to park in a clean car park without trying to squeeze the car into the smallest space possible - nice big bays, and the price includes return bus journey the the city centre for both of us. When we saw the traffic in the city we knew we’d made the right choice, what a stress free cheap way to enjoy a city, top marks!

Easy to reach, easy to park, easy to charge (if applicable), easy to reach city center by free bus (tickets offered with the parking place for all car passengers !!!) awaiting a the entrance of the parking with a very short waiting time and easy to leave. All this for 2,5€, you can’t find any better parking spot for such price with all services proposed !

Easy place to park and take a bus into town. Lots of spaces available. Your parking ticket serves as the bus ticket for both legs of the round trip. Pay at one of the machines when you return and use the ticket to exit.
Jordan S — Google review
Relatively clean bathrooms. Almost always helpful attendant to get bus pass for second person. Always found a spot in March. Much appreciated the 2.5 euros daily rate that included two bus passes.
Candace M — Google review
The parking is very conveniently located and well maintained. There are buses that leave every few minutes to the city center.
Sasha — Google review
If you are looking to visit downtown Aix en Provence, this is the place. Clean large spaces at reasonable prices (2.50 Euros for three hours). Also, when you leave for town, you call the attendant on the ticket machine and they will issue free bus tickets for #6 line for the center. The parking ticket also works on the bus. We got off at Rotundo in front of the office of tourism and were in the center in minutes. The return was on the opposite side of the street. This was best experience we had in France with parking. So parking for three hours plus tickets for four people, round trip to the center was 2.50 Euros. Best place to park in Aix en Provence.

I had an outstanding experience with CarJager. Buying a used car on the Internet is not something you do every day, and it can create some anxiety. Especially when the deal includes purchasing the car in one country, and sending it to another one - which was the case for me (from France to Spain). The people at CarJager were incredible, extremely responsive, willing to help... they were there for me at each step of the process. They managed the entire transaction in an extremely professional way, and also very friendly. Even after the transaction was completed, they followed up and were in touch to make sure that everything was ok. CarJager is doing a great job at providing transparency in a traditionally very obscure and complex market. Keep it up, team!!

Downside: no one cleans the machines 😠😠😠 and on TV, they only show stupid shows or cartoons, no news channels 😡😡😡 It's a change from American gyms. It's a shame because I hate watching the news on my smartphone and I rely on the gym in the morning to do my session and keep me informed. Bus stop
AIX en Bus offers convenient transportation options to reach the city center of Aix. Bus 50 departs every 10 or 20 minutes from the adjoining bus terminal, providing a half-hour journey to Aix bus station for a fare of 6. For an alternative route, travelers can take various Eurostar trains to Lille and transfer to a high-speed train bound for Aix TGV station.
AIX EN BUS Horrible organization. Be prepared to wait at least 4 hours to create a bus card. Only one desk open for about 50 people in line at a rate of 20 minutes per consultation per client. It would have of course been more convenient to treat my dossier on line but the website is also saturated. I wish that there was a more suitable way to spend my day off. And to think you actually have to pay for this « service « . Sad for the underpaid employees working here and the impatient citizens waiting. Plus the new system is a nightmare. Bad example for the education of our children. I can only hope it would get better, but seems to be getting worse each year... bon courage Update ! After receiving our bus cards and using the new Flexibus system, I have to say we are quite pleased. The system is proving itself. Last week a family member lost their telephone on the bus and I reported is lost with Flexibus. I was happy to receive a call from them informing me that they found the phone ! So after some ups and downs, I can say that I’m quite satisfied in the end! Edit. Mauvaise service et mauvaise communication interne. Malheureusement pas d’autres choix pour la transport publique. Safe traveling !

If not a "real (not possible to reach work morning)" strike as this week their is always bus deleted or not coming during the all year. I understand that driver want more money but when you put in a impossible situation people that earn less than you it is not fair at all in my opinion. They should be be happy to have a fixe job even if i totally understand that the working hours are not easy. Person at the cassier are nice and helpful and most of the drivers too (if not on strike)

If you are on a bike, be careful, they honk at you when you are sharing a lane (rue de République) with them or when there is no lane and you are on the right, arriving on a 1 lane roundabout, they honk at you and pass at full speed 50cm from your bike: experienced at the moment between the La Sed and Castor stop on the coast. FYI I'm on a bus 3 muscle bike. For a city that advocates omnimobility, you are far from the mark and you are putting cyclists in danger (Original) Si vous voulez prendre un bus, arrivez 5 minutes avant : eh oui, ici ils ne sont pas en retard mais en avance et n'attendent pas. (Translated by Google) I lived in Reunion, Bordeaux and Montpellier and it was in Aix that I encountered the worst bus line I have ever known. I take bus 8 about ten times a week for my work and I can say without exaggeration that 6 or 7 times out of 10 the bus is late, will not pass, will leave in advance; it happens quite regularly to wait for an 8 bus then to see two arrive one behind the other literally stuck together, without further explanation, perhaps one of the drivers got lost and was guided to the depot by the other? It’s a disaster and it’s a shame. Whether it is the timetables on the cards printed at the bus stops or the timetables announced and supposedly updated in real time on the application, it is the bus of chance, of good fortune or of you who will wait 45 minutes for no reason without seeing one pass. Call the dedicated telephone number? You will be told that exceptionally the stop is not served today, you hang up and you see bus 8 arriving which stops at your stop, although not served but again difficult to know if it is really the fault of the driver or if the other on the phone is a master in the art of not blaming anyone and in fatalism. It's really pathetic and we would almost have sympathy for this poor 8 bus which seems to have difficulty navigating along its own line, if it didn't make us late for work three days out of five.

I understand who's doing the roadworks, but he doesn't even stop at the bus stop when there was a bus in his car. He stops further away. I'm working, and because of him, I arrive late. Thank you very much. I got a telling-off. And what's more, he tells me that I stopped but without saying anything. Pffffff, long live the Daix drivers. Buses late, canceled, you absolutely must not rely on the network and the announced timetables, even with flashing the QR codes, the information is never valid. When a town hall wants to eliminate cars from the city center, the corresponding public transport must be made available. Avoid if you can! This ancient fortified village, which thrived around 180–170 BCE, offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the Celts and Ligures. As you wander through its expansive fields dotted with oak trees, you'll encounter remnants of low stone walls that once defined small rooms within this historic settlement.

Interesting place. There were 2 large boards with detailed explanations (in general for the site). On a Monday morning in July, there were no employees, no security, not one soul. If you are afraid of being alone in a vast area with no sign of human company, you shouldn’t go alone. Closed between 12 - 14:00. Also, the bus 11 takes you from the city center to the site and back, but the driver I had was a bit careless. The bus stop was obviously only for number 11 and I was waiting at the bus stop, looking at the time table. He just drove so fast and passed by that I couldn’t even make a sign for him to stop. The road looks like intercity, definitely not residential. I had to walk another 8 minutes downhill through the park (by the highway) to get to another crossroads.

This site was wonderful. We almost didn't go, but I am so glad we did! The woman who works here with the Ministry of Culture gave us a tour and she knew so much about the site and was so engaging! The ruins themselves were very cool as well, but it was the wonderful tour that made this a great afternoon trip - if you're limited on time this fit well in an afternoon when we were all worn out from days of busy tourism and it was super fun and educational. Recommend calling ahead to see if she can give a tour. Tour was in French but she was really willing to work with us and out limited vocab (native English speakers).

In ancient times, Entremont was the capital of the Celto-Ligurian confederation. It was inhabited from 180 BC to 170 BC, which corresponds to a late settlement compared to other protohistoric oppida in the region, such as the Saint-Blaise oppidum (7th–2nd centuries BC). With the capture of the oppidum by the Romans in 123 BC, Around 90 BC, the plateau was abandoned, and the populations of the oppidum came to populate the new Roman city created at the foot of the plateau: Aquæ Sextiæ[5]. Around 90 BC, the city was completely uninhabited. Its period of occupation was therefore extremely short: approximately 80 years. A site worth visiting for its history!!!
