Nelis' Dutch Village is a beloved attraction in Holland, Michigan that offers an immersive experience of Dutch culture for the entire family. The village features fully costumed staff dedicated to showcasing Dutch traditions, including wooden shoe making, cheese production, and traditional dancing. Visitors can also enjoy activities such as making their own Dutch Stroopwafel cookies and exploring the petting zoo. Additionally, the village boasts a small theme park with a Ferris wheel and opportunities to taste local beers.
This place completely exceeded our expectations. Entry was reasonably priced for all that was included. We enjoyed the Dutch Dancers, watching the show carving demonstration, cheese tasting as well as kids’ rides and petting zoo area. Went with our 3.5yo and 1yo, and plenty to do for both of them honestly. Not to mention, the beautiful array of tulips throughout the park! Would definitely visit again in the future.
Katie S — Google review
Nice place, love all the little buildings. The demonstration. The staff are all super friendly and very nice. Lots of stuff to buy in the gift shop. There are plenty of ducks in the river. A petting zoo, and you can even purchase a bunny or two. They have amusement park rides for the kids. It is a nice place to check out and get a glimpse of how a Dutch village looks.
Brenda B — Google review
A fun & educational place to visit with family. They have great demonstrations of how cheese was made in the Netherlands, how wooden shoes were made. There were Dutch dances with the organ playing. The vintage ride were fun for kids of all ages. The overall atmosphere felt very calm, yet fun & different, like visiting a tiny town in Europe. Overall recommend for everyone to visit.
Aishah E — Google review
Very cool, odd, fun and enjoyable couple of hours. I was nervous about taking two young teens due to reviews but they had a blast. Many things for them to enjoy as older children. Being dog friendly was a nice bonus. We only waited for one ride.
Gemma M — Google review
Fun place for kids + parents. I felt that the price was good for everything we did. Admission covers all of the rides/activities. Ideal for ages 3-8, I would say. Staff are very friendly and wear cultural clothing (even clogs). Recommend if you are in the area !
Maritsa F — Google review
Such a fun place for the kids! The petting farm was a favorite, and the rides kept them smiling all day. Definitely worth it—especially if you grab tickets ahead of time!
Cassandra T — Google review
20250708 A very dogfriendly small property jam-packed with so much to do for all ages. This theme park is great for small children with playground, petting zoo, and rides as well as ice cream. Things to do for teenagers and adults such as rides, entertainment and shopping. I did everything except for games, rides and food related because it's not dogfriendly. The gift shop is very large will so many things to buy. It's shopping in Holland without flying to Holland. 🛩😁 I got a little red wooden tulip on a stand for my coworker who covers for me when I'm on vacation, which is quite often. I didn't buy anything else because I didn't really fly to Holland, missing the real meaning and experience of being in Holland.
Tilly L — Google review
A good place to visit when going to Holland. It’s a must visit for first timers in Holland during tulip festival. The tulips and the old European design houses are colorful and vibrant. There is a lot of activities for kids to play around including animal petting barn. Apart from this you can see the live chocolate making and hand made porcelain utensils, wooden shoes and other items that Dutch used. You can spend ~3 hours in leisure.

Windmill Island Gardens is a seasonal park in Holland, featuring stunning tulip gardens and a 250-year-old windmill called 'De Zwaan.' The park offers guided tours of the windmill and manicured gardens, with Dutch-costumed guides providing an authentic experience. Visitors can also enjoy attractions such as a hand-painted Dutch carousel, children's playground, picnic areas, and gift shops. The 36-acre site includes canals, dikes, and picturesque landscapes.
This place was such a cool visit on our road trip back to Indiana from Michigan! I happened to see it while we were driving, and knew my husband would enjoy this sort of thing. It was cheap to get in and the shops had such neat souvenirs to bring back. We got to tour what I believe was said to be the only authentic Dutch windmill in the United States, which was multiple levels, with an outside lookout on the level where the blades were. Everyone was very kind working here and the gardens were taken care of impeccably. Highly recommend this stop as you can spend hours enjoying these gardens (would love to see it during the tulip season as well!).
Rachelle I — Google review
This place is so cool, so well maintained! $16 per adult. The windmill is very neat to explore. Each staff member was very kind and welcoming. The lawn care is spectacular and the flowers are stunning. We came mid July, and no tulips were still in bloom, which is a bummer but I would highly recommend the visit!
Jamie M — Google review
This is a great garden park downtown. I can only imagine the chaos when tulips are in bloom. You can walk up inside the windmill and explore, they have a couple history buffs inside. Apparently it even runs from time to time. There is a small village and gifts shop on the grounds. Its worth the stop. 13bucks a head. Pets allowed.
Tyler D — Google review
I had a really great time here and lots of walking, so wear good gym shoes. The windmill is really beautiful and I walked all the way to the top. Beautiful flowers and trees and a small bridge over water to walk over. Pleasant and really peaceful looking at the artwork. No wait to get in because it's September and the tulips are done blooming. Cute gift shop with free cheese samples. Apparently people also get married here which would be a beautiful wedding. This is a kid friendly place and they have a carousel and small park area. Very clean. I would like to visit again when the tulips are blooming.
Eclipse M — Google review
Enjoyable experience, I wouldn’t rave about it but to be fair we visited towards the end of September so not the best time of year to see flowers in bloom. Highlight for our visit would be the windmill and climbing to the top. There is a good shop selling lots of nice souvenirs at fair prices. There is a mechanical organ that plays at a quarter past and quarter to the hour. And there is a carousel and little play park to keep kids entertained although the former didn’t appear to be open when we visited as the gardens were very quiet and there were no children there. Also check out the flower beds to see the Monarch butterflies.
Brian M — Google review
It was a nice place to visit. Lots of walking, it was neat to be able to climb up to the top of the windmill, sit in the large wooden shoe, the gift shop was awesome, and loved the buildings. It's definitely worth a visit. It was fascinating to see the staff going up and down the stairs wearing their woodenshoes. And a demo of the organ playing.
Brenda B — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful spot in Holland, MI! Entry is only $5 with free parking. There’s a large Dutch-style windmill, open green fields to relax on, and small shops with Dutch snacks and souvenirs. Great for a short stroll or quiet afternoon — free admission if you have an AHS Garden Network membership.
Piggly W — Google review
Beautiful location that houses an authentic old dutch windmill from the 1800s amidst a beautiful and well kept garden. We learned a lot about the rich dutch history and heritage of Holland as well as the inner workings of a windmill. Ticket was $13 per person. There is ample parking on site. Prepare to walk if you are here. We actually walked from downtown to the windmill and it was very doable.

If you're looking for a fantastic way to spend your day in Holland, the Holland Aquatic Center is an absolute must-visit! This affordable water park is easily accessible and packed with fun activities for all ages. Thrill-seekers can enjoy the exhilarating aqua zip line, diving boards, and a floating obstacle course. Families will love toddler time and various events designed to keep everyone entertained.
This is definitely a 5 Star Swim Complex. There are multiple pools, CLEAN locker rooms and bathrooms. Great Hours and super friendly staff.

My wife and I brought the nieces here (6 and 12) and had an absolutely great time! The kid area has lots of fun stuff to do and the deeper lap pools are great for swimming and diving. J at the front desk helped us out if we had any questions and was also super friendly and accommodating. He definitely went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time! We'll definitely be back!
Isaac B — Google review
This was our first time at the Holland Aquatic Center, and we were blown away! The staff is so friendly and genuinely happy to help — they went above and beyond with my kids and made the whole visit such a great experience. Everything was clean, organized, and fun for all ages. You can really tell the team here loves what they do. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend!
Cody M — Google review
We had a great time at the Holland Aquatic Center for a birthday party, and subsequent time in the splash zone, swimming pools and slide. The kids had a great time and the staff was super professional and helpful. The new area was fantastic and it was our first time back since the remodel work. God bless to the entire team and thanks again.

$7.50 for a day pass is pretty steep but then they tell you you need to pay an additional $2 for a towel only to find out on my own the hot tub is closed and the steam room is unihabital because of the overwhelming odor of bleach. I almost asked for my money back. Just thought y'all might like to know up front what I learned the hard way...

Hi there, I attended a swim meet on Sunday with my family and, like other spectators, had our hands marked upon entry — which I understand is part of your process. However, the ink ended up rubbing off on my clothes, and now I have a stubborn black stain on my shorts that won’t come out. I’ve also heard several other spectators throughout the morning expressing similar frustrations. With that in mind, I’d like to suggest that you consider an alternative system in the future — perhaps wristbands or a different type of ink that doesn’t transfer so easily. Thank you for taking the time to hear this feedback.
Stacey S — Google review
The website should have the exact times for the splash pad, since it's for kids and you don't want to get them excited then disappoint them for it not being open..Otherwise it's a great place, nice clean under control, friendly life guards

Go 3 times a week with Silver Sneakers. The staff remembers my name and uses it every time we come. The women in the lazy river introduced themselves and offer help when I use my favorite jet and they don't know why I am standing at the steps. This place is fantastic!

Discover the wonders of nature at the Outdoor Discovery Center, an educational facility located within a nature preserve. The center features exhibits showcasing native animals and offers play areas for children, such as the Imagination Forest where kids can engage in creative play activities amidst natural surroundings. Visitors of all ages can enjoy hiking through the 130-acre preserve, observing wildlife like the Rocky Mountain Elk herd and exploring the De Witt Birds of Prey Center housing various bird species.
The Outdoor Discovery Center is a hidden gem and hands-down one of the best spots around for nature lovers of all ages. The trails are beautiful and super accessible gravel paths, and boardwalks make it easy to explore without getting lost or muddy. I was blown away by how much there is to see: live animals like owls, hawks, and reptiles in well-kept habitats, plus multiple public fishing ponds. It’s peaceful, educational, and just a really well-maintained place to unwind and reconnect with nature. Highly recommend spending a few hours here. You won’t be disappointed.
Kaden W — Google review
This place was fantastic! A hidden gem for sure! We were blown away that it is completely free to visit. The Visitor's Center is so cool with lots of taxidermy as well as live animals. While you can't touch a lot of the things on exhibit, there are plenty of opportunities for hands-on learning! We only spent a small part of the day and mainly wanted to see the birds of prey exhibit. We were not disappointed! It was amazing! So many beautiful birds. I loved how the signs explained each bird's story so you could understand why it is better for them to be in captivity than out in the wild. Most (if not all) have injuries that prevent them from being able to survive and hunt in the wild. I wish we would have had time to explore all of the trails. If I lived in the area and had kids, I would visit often! Highly recommend if you love nature or have kids who do! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it as well as my two teenagers. It's not just for the little kids! The staff was also very helpful and friendly.
Jodi S — Google review
This nature center is located in the southern suburbs of Holland. The facility appears fairly new and is well maintained. The staff at the visitor center are very welcoming and pleasant. The entire area is filled with nature trails, wildflowers, and wildlife. Near the visitor center, there are small animal exhibits featuring rabbits, a porcupine, a fox, owls, and more. In the northern section, you’ll find birds of prey, including eagles and additional owls. There is also a playground with a fun zip line, making it ideal for family activities. Throughout the park, you’ll find modern restrooms and drinking fountains, allowing you to enjoy nature without sacrificing modern conveniences. One area for improvement: I wish there were more shaded areas along the trails. Overall, I’m highly impressed with this place—and best of all, admission is free!
QL Q — Google review
What a great stop! The trails are beautifully maintained. The children’s play area is such a blast. The birds of prey were fun to look at. The zip lines were definitely a favorite. We would definitely go back.
Tammy K — Google review
Beautiful trails, cool outdoor nature playscape, and you’re able to see some birds of prey and other wildlife throughout the reserve. There is pretty decent parking. Not a huge lot, but enough when going during a time when not a lot of people are there.
Aubree M — Google review
Such a nice place to go, great for all ages. Was free during our trip. So many taxidermy animals inside, outside had such nice trails, water features, kids play areas, zip lines, art pieces, birds and wild animals. Picnic area so you can and should bring your own snacks and drinks as they do not sell any food or drinks and only have a few water fountains around the park. Plenty of shaded places between the sunny spots and also benches to sit throughout. You can rent backpacks that come with information, books, binoculars, scavenger hunt items, and writing utensils to make for a adventure if just walking around has worn itself out. They also have fishing ponds that are catch and release, $5 to rent their pole and it includes bait($1 for more bait) or bring your own poles. Clean bathrooms and very friendly and helpful staff.
JC N — Google review
Wonderful nature center for any age. We brought our kids (7 and 9) and they enjoyed playing on some of the structures but we also enjoyed seeing the wildlife as we walked through the park. Fawns, bullfrogs, snapping turtles, a snake and plenty of birds and insects. The taxidermy in the center is well done and the kids liked seeing the live animals. We only had about an hour so we went out to the raptor building and back. What a wonderful, free park!
Amanda D — Google review
Had a great time at Outdoor Discovery Center! We walked some trails and really enjoyed the Birds of Prey exhibit. The birds were injured in various ways, making it difficult for them to live on their own, they shared the information for each bird.

By far the very best farmers market I've ever been to. Beautiful selection of cut flowers, herbs, vegetables, breads, honey, fruits, a couple street performers, plenty of parking, quiche, and lots more. I would go every weekend if I lived closer.

Specialty Museums
The Holland Museum, situated in downtown Holland, is a local history museum housed in a 1914 post office. It offers an immersive experience into the city's Dutch roots and regional history through interactive exhibits, art displays, and extensive archives. With over 90,000 artifacts and archival materials spanning more than 400 years, the museum aims to educate visitors about the past to shape the future.
The Holland Museum is fairly small, but has a good number of things to see. The first floor is about the city of Holland, its people and its history. It was quite interesting to see how the city has changed over the last 150 years, and there was somebody there who was just a font of knowledge about the history. He was able to tell me all about some of the outlying areas I had questions on too. The second floor was primarily Dutch art, and although the artists might not be the most famous names the art is still very nice and easily appreciated. It’s certainly a nice place to spend an hour or two to learn more about the community.
Mateo G — Google review
Cool place! They had interesting artifacts. The staff were extremely fun, we talked a lot. I went with my mom, my grandfather, and my brother. We all had fun! Super cool place. The gallery on the second floor was beautiful. I loved talking with the staff about all the paintings. I do a lot of art so it was very inspiring for me! Beautiful pieces

The docents are so knowledgeable and friendly. With no kids it would take maybe 45 minutes but they do have a kid section that allows them to as creative as they choose called the Spark Lab! Will need to come back to explore the other parts of Holland!
Amanda R — Google review
Very interesting and informative place to visit. One picture was my favorite. But every picture it looked different. Absolutely beautiful.
Mary B — Google review
This place was unbelievably cool 😎. I would put it in the top ten places I've visited and I have lived in the town for more than 40 years. I plan on many more trips here, some with my family my brother's a veteran. He will enjoy that section of the museum. This is a excellent place to visit if you've never been there. If you live in Holland you need to go here.
Dave T — Google review
Wow. Just wow. Unexpected such a beautiful collection of Dutch art. The history line of the city is top notch.
Serge V — Google review
Well worth an hour or so. You get a nice overview of the development of Holland and the Dutch Heritage. The museum is well put together with a nod to the contribution of many locals in various foreign wars. There is plenty about early industry of the area and development of leisure in the area. The flyer has a scavenger hunt worth taking. Don't miss the clock, which was Holland's addition to the New York World's Fair Brought here due to the onset of WWII. The second floor has some antique furniture from Holland. Like hundreds of years ago stuff. There is some other paintings and ceramics from Holland as well. The coolest thing? The dog powered butter churner.
Kevin W — Google review
Very nice museum about the area and the Dutch. Many interesting items on display and a children’s area for them to work on their STEM ideas. Staff are friendly and the cost is only $7 for adults and $4 for kids.

BAM! Entertainment Center, voted the Best Family Entertainment Center in West Michigan, offers a variety of activities for both children and adults. From laser tag and monster bowling to an arcade and high ropes course, there's something for everyone. Additionally, visitors can explore historical and cultural attractions such as the De Klomp Delft Factory and the authentic working Dutch windmill, DeZwaan Windmill. For those looking to relax, BAM!
We had a birthday party for my son’s 8th birthday. This was excellent service! The customer service alone was amazing! Manager Alissa and server Taitum did an incredible job! So pleasant to work with and they were so attentive the whole time we were there. Thank you! I can’t recommend this enough!
Amanda L — Google review
This place is awesome! I haven't tried the food yet, but man, the menu looks killer. I'm dying to try the pizza and wings - they look incredible. The arcade is packed with cool games, way better than the ones from when I was a kid. These are like next-level arcade games. The prices are a bit steep, but let's face it, there aren't any cheap arcades left these days. So it's not too bad, just a little above average. The bowling alley might be small, but it's in great shape. The lanes look fantastic. Honestly, there's not much to complain about here. Sure, you might spend a bit more than at your average bowling alley, but this place has it all - a bar, dining area, arcade, bowling, and I think they just opened laser tag too. It's like an entertainment paradise!
Clinton H — Google review
Great place nice lanes, balls were old and chipped, the weren't any servers on duty so long wait for food and quite a few of the arcade games were out of order. Aside from that we had a great time and it was rather affordable.
DJ H — Google review
Wow, this place is amazing! Had a great time bowling and playing Arcade games. I booked a small party online for my grand babies' spring break, and I'm so glad I did! The employees were all so nice and helpful! When we were told what lane we were bowling at, there was a cute display of welcome lite up blocks with cute frogs on one side and dinosauron the other. I also ordered pizza, mac bites, and tater tots with unlimited drinks (not alcohol) all online during booking, plus 20$ credits of Arcade games. Will definitely go back!
R.A.P T — Google review
We had a good time despite the place being expensive . They did overcharge me but were quick to issue a refund for the extra amount charged. However they did say they would give free arcade credits for the inconvenience of having to drive back there to get the refund and that didnt happen 🥲 . Areas of improvement would be better deals on food and bowling and train employees to close out of games when people are bringing up there shoes and done with games. Pros. Arcade deals were pretty good. Food did taste good.
Katelyn M — Google review
Great party package including bowling, arcade, and food. Alyssa and Bailey were amazing! We really enjoyed the small touches of the light up Happy Birthday and number sign. Incredibly kind staff and helpful servers. We will definitely be booking a party again. It was fun for all ages!

My experience was rock at the start, but the night of my event, it was great. Will return! Recently, I hosted a major birthday party for adults, which included items from the catering menu. The pizza was delicious and the same with the cold pasta salad. My third item was a fruit and cheese plate, which I'm grateful that staff onsite worked with me since corporate neglected to tell them that was an item I ordered. The event planner and manager on site were super accommodating to me and my guests by providing us with a more private space in the bowling alley, flexibility with our activities, and allowing some decorations. I had difficulty with Bowlero at the beginning by rushing a headcount nearly a month before the event and not providing photos of the event space. Their prices were also raised to a point that it made it difficult for me to have guests commit, but the Bam! staff worked with me and explained the guest count policy more efficiently. I've provided photos from the night of my event. Be sure to talk to the staff at BAM! Ahead of your event planning so you get clarification before you speak to the Bowlero representatives who are in another state and don't know what their venue looks like or how it runs.

Nature & Parks
Centennial Park in downtown Holland is a Victorian-era park that offers open green space, trails, a gazebo, fountain, and flowerbeds. It also features tulip and tropical plant displays as well as memorials. The park hosts the Holland Oz Project which brings the story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to life with a small Wizard of Oz garden including a yellow-brick road and a giant natural book cover.
What a gorgeous park! The grounds are immaculate. We were here for tulip time and it was way too busy (expected) I’d love to come back when there isn’t any events going on. Beautiful town

On our way to our vacation spot my husband and I stopped at a rest area and I picked up a brochure this was listed as a must see. It was not just a Park it was a wonderland. The Wizard of Oz display was absolutely magical! It brought back so many memories of anticipation waiting to watch it every year. The sculptures of the caricatures and the giant Wizard of Oz book made completely with flowers. You must go and explore this place... it's definitely more than a traditional Park. It was magic.❤️ Follow that, "Yellow Brick Road".

I was in town for the Tulip Fest, and I loved this park so much! It was large enough to walk around or find a spot to settle, and there were a lot of tulip clusters so you could take photos and enjoy them without being crowded or in everyone’s way. It’s a fantastic place to see the tulips for free.

Went to the art and craft fair here. The show was nice but the park was incredible. Gorgeous Gardens! The Moss fountain is enchanting. It was worth going just to see the gardens. I look forward to the next event.

The tulips were gorgeous! I have been to Holland several times but I'm living in Michigan most of my life I had never been to Tulip time. When I was there last year for their road race, the tulips were mostly dead, so I was pleasantly surprised this year! Great! Free place for beautiful photos with the tulips.

The most beautiful park in Holland. Koi ponds are peaceful. Flowers are always beautiful. Tulips are incredible at Tulip Time. Just one of my favorite places to go downtown.

Centennial Park is a beautiful and elegant place, perfect for taking stunning photos and relaxing, while Holland is a charming town, especially enchanting during the Tulip Festival.

This is a gorgeous park. Several flower beds, a peaceful moss-covered fountain, a large gazebo, and a koi pond are just a few of the features we enjoyed while we walked around. Though, be warned, if the koi see you, they'll all swim to you and make you feel guilty for not having any food for them. From the park, it's an easy walk to all the best downtown Holland has to offer, and there's plenty of easy parking too.

Huge selection of homemade and imported candies. The prices are considerably higher than most other stores, but I also picked out 2 candies from Sweden and was expecting to spend more. Everything pictured here cost $24 total 😳

Lots and lots of sweets to choose from, for me it was the great selection of Jelly Belly beans. Helpful and engaging staff. Lots of pennants and flags on the walls. Interesting place to come and shop for your sweet tooth. Highly recommended.

I love this candy store in Holland, MI (downtown). This city has a great downtown vibe !! They have my favorite candy (Chick-O-Stick). What a great selection of candy to pick from !!
Damon R — Google review
A must see when you stop in town. It was really cool walking in through the back and seeing a local hometown pennant for Oregon. Their selection is far and wide varied, and I tried their sugar free options most recently. The flavor is perfect and they taste just like the genuine article.
Jake H — Google review
Walked into this store on Oct. 9th and was amazed with the candy selection. I finally found candy that my niece brought me from Sweden. I had been looking for this candy for at least 15 years. About 9 days later, I called them to order more of the Swedish candy and they were not only happy to fill my order and ship it, but were so thankful for my order (which was not large). I was amazed on the gratitude they showed me in placing my order. I added more candy to the order because of that. Needless to say I will be placing a number of Christmas gift orders as well as an order for candy for our home for the holidays. This store is great, but the people are amazing and wonderful. Highly recommend you stop there if in Holland MI!

The Holland Peanut Store is the kind of place that makes you feel like a kid again, even if your knees crack when you bend down to look at the lower shelves. This is not just a candy shop, it is a downtown institution, the kind of spot where memory and sugar get mixed together in equal parts. Classic hard-to-find candies line the shelves, the kind of treats you forgot existed until you see them staring back at you. Alongside them are handmade chocolates that taste like they were crafted by people who care more about tradition than mass production. Each piece has weight, texture, and flavor that stays with you long after it is gone. And then there are the fresh roasted nuts, warm, fragrant, and addictive in a way that makes you buy more than you planned. They are the heartbeat of the store, grounding all that sweetness with something savory. The shop itself feels timeless. You walk in and it is as if the outside world has slowed down a notch. It is cozy, welcoming, and alive with that quiet hum only a family-run confectionery can carry. The Holland Peanut Store is not a stop, it is a must-stop. It reminds you that candy is not just about sugar, it is about joy, memory, and the little rituals that make life sweeter.

One of the very few places that actually counts out your change back! Not just “here’s your change” like most stores, but actually counting up: “The total is $8.75. A quarter makes $9, one makes $10, a ten makes $20.” Thank you! It’s such a small thing, but it shows care and honesty. Everywhere else, I just get a pile of coins and bills and have to wonder if it’s right.

Step aboard the Holland Princess, a charming Victorian-style paddlewheel riverboat that offers a delightful two-hour cruise experience. Indulge in the 'Captain's Feast,' accompanied by soothing music and access to a cash bar. This popular attraction is also available for hosting banquets and special events. Guests have found the boarding process to be hassle-free, with ample time to relax before departure. While initially crowded at the bar, service becomes more accessible once underway.
We had a fantastic time on the Holland Princess! Don’t miss this opportunity for great food and music, spectacular views along the Lake and an awesome crew! Highly recommend this two hour cruise, we will definitely be back.
Donna D — Google review
Booked a lunch cruise as part of our anniversary. Overall, we were happy with the experience. It was relaxing and pretty smooth and well run from start to finish. Pros- 2 large bathrooms located aft (1 male and 1 female), fresh made lunch/meals. Full bar and air conditioned lower deck. Great views and nice breeze flows across the covered upper deck. Crew rotated groups at the 1 hour mark between upper and lower deck and cleaned/reset the dining area for our group. Nice experience overall and well executed. The musician was great too, knew how to play and did a good job keeping the vibe relaxed. Cons- Not much, I wish we could've spent more time at Lake Michigan, the water was calm and the scenery was beautiful. But the cruise across Lake Macatawa was relaxing, even with a massive amount of recreational boater traffic (it was a perfect Michigan Saturday afternoon in the summer, can't blame them). Overall, I'd recommend it. I actually did recommend it to several friends that evening as a nice couple hour break/escape.

What a fun time, 2 hour cruise with music. Dinner was excellent also. Would do it again. The young man singing needs to learn another song, he does Richie Valens and Buddy Holly, he just needs a Big Bopper song to complete the trio.

The Windmill Restaurant, located in the heart of downtown Holland, is a beloved spot among West Michigan residents. Since the 1940s, it has undergone various name and ownership changes before being perfected by Terry McMurry and his family over the last two decades.
Excellent food and friendly service! The Windmill came highly recommended by some local friends, glad we made the stop! The cinnamon roll was delicious, the house bread French toast was phenomenal, and our server took great care of us! Definitely worth the wait.
Taylor H — Google review
Visited during Tulip Time, waited about 15-20 minutes. Food was very good--omelette had a bit too much bacon that made it salty and didn't get the option for a deep fried cinnamon roll but regular was good, chili had a good spice, and Cross the Street salad was delicious, fresh, and had a ton of toppings! Staff was friendly and food was served very quickly!

★★★☆☆ – Tasty food, but tough to relax We stopped in for breakfast at The Windmill Restaurant during a trip to Holland, and while the food had its highlights, the overall experience was a bit overwhelming. The restaurant was very crowded, noisy, and somewhat chaotic, making it difficult to fully enjoy what was otherwise a solid meal. The servers were kind and attentive, doing their best amid the hectic pace and tight seating. On the plus side, the daily specials are priced well, and my wife raved about her cheese muffin—every bite was a win. Our daughter had the Denver omelette with gluten-free toast and was thrilled they didn’t upcharge for the gluten-free option. She also noted the eggs were seasoned just right. Unfortunately, my own meal fell short. The blueberry pancakes were stiff rather than fluffy, and my over-easy eggs came out greasy. It’s clear they have a loyal following and some great menu items, but due to the overcrowded dining area and noise, we’re not sure we’d return. Might be a better pick if you don’t mind a bustling diner vibe.

Our visit was during off season. I ordered a Holland omelette and it was loaded with a lot of cheese and that’s how I like it. I had the side of the huge cinnamon bun to go. Above all, my wait person Suzanne made our day with her excellent service. First ever waitress bringing extra napkins without asking. Kudos to Suzanne! Price of the 3 eggs omelette with a side of huge cinnamon role was under $13. Unbeatable! We will go back for sure.

Came 2.5 hours to visit Holland and was really looking forward to a good meal—left disappointed. We were hungry and excited to try this spot, but both meals had overcooked eggs (ordered over easy) and everything just felt rushed and sloppy. The wait staff was pretty indifferent. Cute little place and busy, but definitely not worth the drive or the wait.
John M — Google review
Had the regular cinnamon roll. It was very big, but not the best I have ever had. The dough was very chewy, not much cinnamon but the frosting was amazing. Had the gluten free cinnamon roll also and it tasted sour. Very ok for gluten free, once again the frosting was great! Restaurant was very busy and you had to seat yourself.

First stop on our trip to Holland. Fantastic omelette, STUFFED with all the fixings, for a very humble price. Waitress recommended their homemade wheat toast, which might have been the best toast I've ever had. Big, fluffy and so soft. Coffee was fresh and piping hot. Lots of Cholula hot sauce varieties to choose from. My kinda place! They also have a big Lunch selection, too! Highly recommend 👍

It features walking and biking paths, a baseball field, and thousands of tulips that bloom during the spring tulip time celebration. The park offers well-laid-out walkways with benches along the marsh and a boardwalk extending over it. Visitors can enjoy scenic views of De Zwaan on Windmill Island from some viewing platforms.
Tulips are gorgeous for this year's Tulip Festival. Free to view. There are 2 different play areas with wood structures for climbing etc. for children. A few picnic tables to enjoy lunch while enjoying being outside.

This is the largest free (to access) collection of tulips we found in Holland, MI during Tulip Time. It’s a great and beautiful place to stop in and check out. We arrived the first Friday right before the festival technically started just before sunset and there were very few other people there. Saturday during the day it was swarming with people, so keep that in mind when planning. This also has a decently large playground nearby for the children.

Very peaceful, serene evening walking path, great views of the windmill and river; lots of green natural landscape and overhead views of interesting birds in flight. There weren’t many people on the path late evening on a weeknight. The trail goes along the river and ends at Central Ave by 3rd street and the water reclamation facility.

Window in the waterfront is a lovely short walk that is completely paved over so it’s handicap accessible. There are water fountains and benches along the way if you’d like to stop and take a break or eat lunch. Every time I’ve been I’ve seen lots of wildlife and the addition to the sunflower/zinnia patches off the path near the children’s play area have made it even more stunning.

Kollen Park, also known as the Heinz Waterfront Walkway, is a serene and picturesque waterfront park in Holland, Michigan. It offers a range of recreational amenities such as a band shelter, playground, boat launch ramps, picnic areas, and a large group picnic shelter. The park spans 30 acres and features Lake Macatawa frontage with boardwalks and fishing decks.
We visited Kollen Park after dinner one evening on our vacation and it was beautiful! The playground looked fun for families with little kids. There was a beautiful fountain. And we stumbled across a free concert of some kind at the amphitheater. We grabbed our outdoor blanket and relaxed for a bit, listening to the music, before we headed down to the waterfront to watch the sunset. I would have loved to walk more of the walkway, but we didn't have time. If I lived in Holland, I think I'd find myself at this park all the time! Absolutely beautiful. The grass was lush and soft. Lots of places to just sit and enjoy nature.

This park is beautiful. It has a lovely playground area, beautiful walk along the water that is wheelchair, accessible, benches, picnic table, pavilion, large grassy area, restrooms, boat launch, and a decent amount of parking. The park is clean, and well maintained.

Wonderful park with kids area and amphitheatre abutting Lake Macatawa. Abundant (and free) parking. Stroll a large portion of the lakefront on the promenade. Friday nights in the summer offer free concerts (6:30-8:30pm) and often a food truck. Bring your own chairs or blankets, food and beverages (alcohol is forbidden), and plan to sing along or even dance with the locals.

We came on a rainy day & it was still enjoyable. We had a "picnic" under the pavilion. The kids played on the playground. And my husband and son did some fishing; only caught 1 small perch before we had to take off (before the storm hit). Plenty of parking, restrooms on-site. Enjoyable experience.

Parked near the parking lot that was closer to Boatwerks restaurant. Boardwalk clean and plenty of seating for tired feet or those with handicap (walker/wheelchair). View was beautiful! Would go back. Visited on a Thursday in afternoon and it wasn't very busy at the park.

Mostly clean, there were spider webs around some of the bars so watch out for that. Play structure makes it hard for adults to go in without excessive ducking. Still a great view of the lake. Grass is kept green. Free from trash.

The Lost City is a laser tag center with arcade games, mini-golf and more. It's one of the area's oldest indoor attractions, and offers fun for all ages.
Celebrated my birthday today with a spontaneous trip to our local arcade spot and I don’t regret it! We spent a good hour and a half playing Route 66 bowling, arcade and glow in the dark golf for less than 80.00 for our family of 5!! New games have been added and a great prize selection as well!

Fun night for three teens and Mom and Dad too. We were in town for a Midwest vacation and spent an evening here. The guys liked the laser tag and ski ball is always a win. All the games were working, in good condition, and clean. The teens still wanted to turn their tickets in for some swag. They might be teens but still like their tickets. This place is worth a stop and very clean and well maintained which isn't always true of gaming centers these days. Thanks for a fun night!

Went for a birthday party and they didn't seem aware of the booking from a month prior room wasn't set up or ready and initially they tried to act like the total wasn't already paid. Older woman who was working and running events tried to act kind but it seemed very fake and forced. Once tables were set the scissors were left sitting in the room for the kids so we moved those out the way room was small and there's gum on the floors pizza box cut outs covering vents the laser tag over look wasn't available to use to watch kids play. Everything was late because the room wasn't ready first game of laser Tag was 30 minutes late to start pizza was 25 mkns later then we were told making the rest of the games also late. We almost didn't get our 3rd game but we went over and requested it. Also no candy on tables, we didn't get included ice cream dessert until we were literally supposed to be leaving the room. When you pay 500 for a party it's pretty disappointing that it wasn't prioritized and we were treated like a problem for asking for rhe things included. I have 3 kids parties a year and won't really consider this an option moving forward unfortunately. Had parties here before which were much better but its not something you really wanna gamble on.

Today we went to The Lost City arcade in Holland. The staff was exceptional! Ryan was so kind and helpful. He walked us through laser tag and what to expect. We had dinner plans but got a snack while we were there and the "Bosco sticks" with ranch were so delicious! They were hot, crispy and topped with parmesan. And they had our favorite Spindrift water! The prices were super affordable and the games had a great selection of variety for all ages. We all had a blast! Highly recommended!

We were in town for the weekend, hand happened to go in for Thursday Date Night deal. Not only was it an amazing deal for the money, but the food was very good. Played a lot of air hockey and pet some cute animals

My co workers and I love going here! Can't beat the price for laser tag, mini golf and mini bowling. My team are all students from GVSU. So it says a lot I think that we all find it worth the drive. We called yesterday to confirm before driving out and Melanie was so helpful and accommodating. When we arrived there was a guy that helped us all out. Thank you so much for being a fun spot to stop, great price point and a cool break from the outdoors.

Super fun family experience! Beware!!!games cost like 15-40 credited a pop. So 100 won't go very far. Nothing wrong, but it can be misleading if you aren't familiar with the place. We played laser tag too. Super fun, only had my family (5 people) so we did free for all, fun arena. Really big too. The games were in good condition. Some of them were kind of a rip off, but it's an arcade, sooo..... The lady at the counter was super friendly and gave us extra tokens when a game malfunctioned and strained out some pricing mistakes.

Very enjoyable outing with the girls! However, I have to say I felt very rushed. The very first thing that the girl said when we got there at 4:45 was we close at six! Which we knew and we told her we were aware of closing time so we chose smaller items. I have not been to ceramics place in many years and I felt very rushed. We were out right at 6 o’clock but I didn’t feel like I could really finish my item the way I wanted to. I could’ve used an extra 15 minutes. But at 5:40 the girl told us we had 20 minutes. Then she asked us again in 10 minutes if we were about done. And I get that they close at six but I spent $80 there and I feel like I was extremely rushed. Which made the experience a little less pleasant.

Took my 2 kids, they are 5 and 8, first time ever rock climbing. Staff was amazing, helped us so much, and encouraged my kiddos. I would recommend asking and talking to the staff about the training so you are able to belay for your kids, this will give them more walls too climb.

I took my niece and nephews climbing a couple of weeks ago at Scrapyard and we all enjoyed it! There’s some decent routes for all climbing levels and plenty for young kids too. The instructor did a great job going over the safety procedures. We’d definitely go back!

I travelled across the state of Michigan trying every Boulder/climbing gym I could find, and this was my first stop. Scrapyard has been extremely significant to me as it was the first climbing gym I had ever been to. I have taken tons of friends to this spot to introduce them to sport. They all left with a memorable appreciation for climbing and it's all thanks to how welcoming and charming the atmosphere of Scrapyard is. Something that sets this gym apart from others is how amazing the people working here are. Every time I've visited there's always someone personable to chat with at the front desk. They treat all people as friends and are more than willing to help and assist you with any climbing needs you might have. As far as the walls are concerned, Their holds are fairly maintained and set up very well. They have a large range of difficulties to choose from that span from never done this before to "you better know what you're doing or you will find out!" They offer Auto-belay, top-rope, slab, and a ton of overhang. Additionally, they consistently change the routes, so if you're a frequent visitor you'll always have something new to look forward to. They have a small gym off to the side, but I think that there is also another business attached to them that's an actual training facility. They sell a small selection of snacks, and climbing equipment. I don't recall them selling shoes or any bigger items. Bring your family, friends, and loved ones; This is the perfect spot to kick-start your new climbing addiction!

Scrapyard is absolutely amazing! The routes are thoughtfully set for all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned climbers, and they’re updated regularly to keep things fresh. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy help and make you feel welcomed. The community here is welcoming and supportive, making it a great place to meet climbers and make friends. Highly recommend!

Amazing place. My son is 8 and LOVES to climb so we decided to take him here to see if he'd enjoy something like this. He fell in love almost immediately. The young man at the front counter was super helpful and friendly. Turns out my daughter wanted to try it too, so there were lots of questions. He was so patient with them and made them feel super comfortable. We were able to rent shoes and harnesses and even got some quick instruction. They had plenty of areas that were within the kids skill levels and even gave them a quick lesson in falling properly. The other climbers and staff were also very friendly. This is definitely an all inclusive environment. Go check them out!

Down town is really nice except for the smell, smells like an out house. Must have a lot of people urinating in the streets.

I was downtown Holland with a friend for tulip time, and I tried to capture the generational sharedness as well as the worth and goodness of the Dutch people, as well as their openness to diversity, inclusion, and togetherness. The streets were filled with people and families. Coming together from many different towns and cities for the individual area and schools in the streets. The young child was dancing, mirroring the older boys as she was a sign of the much-needed participation that our parents and grandparents deeply want to give to us younger generations, and the next.

Sundae Sundae Golf Golf offers a seasonal mini-golf experience at Pirates Landing and Craigs Cruisers. The course may have some maintenance issues, but it is still playable and enjoyable. While the front 18 holes are better maintained than the back 18, the shaded areas make it a great place for kids to have fun near the beach. It's recommended to check their website for exact opening dates and times before planning your visit.
It's a fun stop if you have a little one that wants to play mini golf. There is a 18 course, "front" side and a 18 course, "back" side. You can pay for one or both. There's also a mini playground also tailored to young toddlers, and options for sweets if you want a treat.
Phi D — Google review
Great coarse! Challenging and very fun. If you're not wanting to climb too many stairs the back 18 is what you wanna play. Definitely recommend playing all 36 holes though! $12 for 36 holes or $9 for 18
Nate W — Google review
Pretty chill mini golf course. Lots of holes and not a bad price. Some were more difficult than others. Some holes at the beginning of the front half smelled a little interesting. Other than that, it didn’t seem bad. There weren’t many people when we went. Pretty sure we were the only group there.
Zoe : — Google review
We had noticed some work being done on this course so thought it had to be improved from the last ti.e we were there. NOPE. It should be totally shut down until all repairs are made. My husband tripped over a loose brick. The walks over the creeks were crooked and a huge step up at one point. The steps needed to climb were loose and crooked. Several more bricks were very unsafe to walk on. Again it is not a safe place for people to go to. Shut it down until all repairs are done. We will not be going back.
Sue M — Google review
Will never go back. Place needs a lot of work. Bricks uneven, instead of putting new grass down in some areas, they patched it. REALLY??? stairs and bridges were absolutely dangerous to walk on. Our balls were hitting the bricks that were out of place in the greens. Should have looked at the property before playing. Lesson learned 🫤
Deb W — Google review
Don’t waste your money… Major water hazards ON the GREEN!!!! Bricks falling. Ripped turf. Animal poop! On the fairway’s. Went for a good time so disappointed. Holland could do better!
Marjorie M — Google review
Course is "playable" I suppose. The price isn't bad for 36 holes. The three of us played 36 today and every hole had either a rip in the felt, missing bricks, fall hazard, or an exposed nail where the wooden perimeter barrier had rotted away. We were nervous that our toddler was going to hurt himself more often than not. Back 18 hole #2 has 2 "holes" that drop to a different level. One of them I assume didn't work, because it had a large stone stuffed in it. I wouldn't know if it worked or not because there wasn't any signage. All in all, feels like a mini golf course that was built in the 90s and hasn't been touched since. Much rougher condition than similarly priced courses.
Jim H — Google review
2023 update: (stay away, see photos) $50 for 6 Worst of all they give you free ice cream for a 5 star review. This place is a hazard. You're always tripping (physically not mentally). The holes are impossible, have creases where the ball is a dead stop. Missing side stops (bricks) next to the water. Original review 10 years old: Greens are coming off, sticks ect on every course. Bathrooms made us feel dirty just by looking inside the room. Service was good and the ice cream was a good price

The center is wheelchair and stroller accessible and provides educational opportunities for visitors to learn about the local wildlife and geology. Additionally, the preserve features trails suitable for walking, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
This place is fantastic! We were visiting from out of state and found this on the map. The nature center itself is really nice to see and the young lady working was very friendly, knowledgeable, and told us about the main Outdoor Discovery Center location (also worth exploring if in the area). They have turtles, snakes, frogs, a bunny, and a rescue owl! Very clean facilities too. The trails are beautiful and fun to explore. This was an awesome find and definitely will return again when visiting this area of Michigan.

The services and buildings are closed for COVID-19, but the trails are still accessible and very enjoyable. Most of it is boardwalk, so you can even take a stroller if you like. There are a few offshoot trails to make it a little more of an adenture. There are a couple of stop offs at a small pond where you are bound to see a bunch of turtles (some fairly big) and some small fish. At a slow pace, you can go through the whole thing in about an hour. I have taken my kids here a couple of times and they really enjoy it.

I've been happily visiting here since I was a kid. There are beautiful trails through wooded areas, a replica settlers house to explore, and much to learn about local wildlife conservation. Inside the learning center you can find many live, local animals. The best part is it is all free, but be sure to buy something from their cute giftshop to support conservation.

Good place to stroll with the spouse. Good for groups. If your children are misbehaving , dont bring them here........ Theres posted signs with fees about damaging the preserve and taking animals or anything that disturbs the wild life. Lots of bench's to relaxe on the trail. Very nice place

The Nature Center is closed right now because of the pandemic, but you can still walk the trails. It's not a big place so it makes for a great quick stop, especially if you're doing a daytrip like I did today. There's a lot of birds hiding back here too!

We had my daughters birthday party here (over a year ago and we’re considering coming back!) and we absolutely LOVED it!! The owner was so Lovely, we went on a hay ride and all the kids were able to feed the animals. The kids were also able to go in the hay maze. Inside their little out building (that we rented out) was a ping pong table the kids enjoyed as well. The owner even had the fire going inside before we got there to decorate! It was the best experience ever!! My daughter still talks about her birthday party we had here and I know it’s one she will never forget.

We go once a year and the kids LOVE IT. They get to touch animals, fish, hay rides, feed the animals and play in the barn with a hay maze. My children have a great time every year and I feel extremely comfortable with them running around and doing there own thing, they feed the animals, pet them, ride them and just get comfortable around animals that we don't see every day. Thank you Teusink's pony farm. We can can't wait until the next time.

We went there on a sunday when we were in town to see the tulips. Even though it was not open to public, the owner was super nice to us and let us see the farm. He showed us the animals and answered all our questions. He told how it is a family run farm and they have been so for 100+ years. The really cute farm animals and the beautiful birds (including stunning peacocks) are a must see for anyone in town.

I was disappointed to see the way they cage their rabbits. When their cages consist of wire floors that cause sore hocks and their all caged separately which prevents the ability for them to cuddle together for warmth. I would like to see them Change their cages and provide a comfortable place where the rabbits have enough room to roam and are given the right nutrients.

I spent a week visiting my then-girlfriend on campus a few years ago. Even now all these years later I still recall the campus with fondness, Really a beautiful setting, delightful architecture, and plenty of cute shops and cafe's all in biking and walking distance. Really felt safe and comfortable spending time here. The parts I remember most were the friendliness of the students, such as being loaned bicycles to get around campus, and the friendliness of neighborhood residents who were more than happy to take time out of their to give directions or advice on places to go. All in all, the town is wonderful and idyllic, like a neighborhood from a 1950's film. And the campus further strengthens that safety and natural beauty.

Holland State Park - Macatawa Campground offers a picturesque beachfront setting with paved bike trails, sunset views, and convenient concessions. Visitors can explore the iconic Big Red lighthouse and indulge in dining experiences at nearby Saugatuck. The campground provides spacious sites with amenities like fire rings and picnic tables, along with modern restroom and shower facilities. While the lighthouse may be small, the stunning sandy beach, snack shack offerings, and expansive parking make it a worthwhile visit.
This was our first time staying at the beach campground at Holland State Park. We usually book at the other campground, but decided to try something new — and we’re so glad we did! The location is perfect, just a short walk to the beach, which makes it super easy to catch a sunset or spend the day by the water. The campground itself has a really nice vibe, and the facilities were spotless — probably some of the cleanest bathrooms and showers we’ve seen at a state park. It’s definitely a great spot if you want to be close to the beach while still enjoying the camping experience. We’ll definitely be back!
Dan P — Google review
Holland State Park is a decent spot if you’re looking for a quick beach outing. The view of the iconic Big Red lighthouse and the sunset over Lake Michigan are definitely worth seeing. However, the park gets very crowded, especially on weekends, making parking and finding a quiet spot on the beach difficult. Facilities like restrooms and concessions could be maintained better, and sometimes the cleanliness of the beach is hit-or-miss. Overall, it’s nice for a visit, but not the most relaxing experience if you’re hoping for peace and space.
Prashant D — Google review
The bathrooms and showers were filthy. The bathrooms stunk and they were not kept up. We were here in 2024 and thought they were great, but no longer. The plastic shower benches that were gray in color were almost black as they weren’t washed all season. I don’t know what was smeared on wall. Green mold, lots of spiders and webs. They were really gross. Come on folks, you can do better.
Cynde M — Google review
Website is deceptive. On the official website it says that it has a dog beach, and that it is pet friendly. When I arrived, however I found out that their signs all the way across the beach saying no animals and their so-called “dog beach.” is nothing more than a spot with sand with no apparent water involved. They do have a bathroom with flushing toilets that is right by the beach, which is nice however, it has these stalls that have benches that would seem to be a changing type area only there’s no curtains or doors or anything on them for any sort of privacy. In the same building as the bathrooms they do have a little gift shop place that offers some limited food and drink options. I got the soft serve chocolate ice cream, single scoop and let me tell you they don’t give you very much for what they charge for it. One thing that was nice though is that they do have I think there was two spots with those beach sand walk runners that make it much easier to get further down on the beach. I used Google maps to direct me to the beach and instead it directed me to the campground parking. I found that if I didn’t turn into the campground parking, I just kept driving eventually I did get to the beach.

This was our first visit to Holland State Park, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. We stayed at the beach campground, where the campsites were generously sized and the utility hookups were well-maintained and easy to access. The bathhouse was impressively clean, well-lit, and conveniently located. One of the highlights was the stunning night sky — with the campground set away from the city lights of Holland, the darkness allows for incredible stargazing. We enjoyed breathtaking views of stars and planets that made the evenings truly memorable. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we’re already looking forward to our next stay.

Since it was Labor Day, the park was very crowded to say thw least. But the beach is great overlooking the Lake Michigan. Crystal clear water is enchanting to just sit and watch. One can take nice walk on the pier that extends well into the water. Lots of boat activities were taking place. Excellent location to spend the day!

It's absolutely beautiful. Campsites are very close and not much or any separation or privacy from one campsite to the next. It's very obvious that it is mostly "seasonal" campers/families. Which is nice, but that without separation between campsites is a little awkward, giving an "out of place" feeling. The beach, the park, and bathrooms :) are truly great. Definitely would go back.

Tunnel Park is a charming 22-acre gem that offers visitors a delightful blend of natural beauty and recreational fun. The journey through the tunnel is an adventure in itself! Once you emerge on the other side, you're greeted by soft sands and breathtaking views.
Came here with my wife last weekend. She had found out about this place about two months ago and wanted to take me here 😊 I'm glad she did because this is a really cool park! The tunnel taking you to the beach is cool, and its very well maintained, there's not sand everywhere like we were expecting. There's also a beautiful overlook with benches and picnic tables with a little pollination garden. And lastly, they have an awesome playground! This is why I love Holland, this is just one of the many amazing places here!

Gives you a wholesome experience of Lake Michigan from the top. Very clean beach however walking down the sand dunes up to the beach is very challenging and so is getting back . You can see the red lighthouse very clearly. The beach is less crowded & the sunset is breathtaking.

This place felt like the best kept secret of Holland! We went to a few places with beach access, but this one was hands down, the best. A lot less crowded. Just bring your blankets, your water bottle, and your chairs so you can enjoy the water and the sun. Restrooms have a soda machine if you want something sweet. There’s also a play area for the kids near the parking lot. You do pay for parking and you can do this with your phone, so make sure it’s charged up before you go. There are two entrances to the beach. Straight in, and a set up stairs you can climb up, then climb down to the beach. There are 68 total steps, so try that if you are adventurous ◡̈ Otherwise, do the tunnel. When it opens up to the sun and water, it’s breathtaking.

Cutest park with great beach access! Going through the tunnel feels a little bit like entering a beach in Italy. Parking lot is gravel but has lots of spots and offers a short walk to the tunnel. Public restrooms are present. Pay station is located by the bathrooms. Has a nice grassy area to picnic as well if you don’t want to go to the beach. there is also a great lookout after up quite a few stairs that overlooks lake michigan. Beautiful park!!

Beautiful Michigan beach. A little smaller than many of the others beaches, and a small staircase to get onto the beach. Clean bathrooms with flushable toilets. Kids playground.

Cross-country Ski Areas
Saugatuck Dunes State Park is a dog-friendly day-use preserve in Michigan, offering 2.5 miles of pristine shoreline, bird-watching opportunities, and scenic trails through coastal dunes and woods. The park features various trails of different lengths, although some visitors suggest that clearer trail markings and maps at the trailheads would be helpful. The shortest trail to the beach is approximately 1.
Hiking to the beach is much more satisfying than driving next to it. First about parking, since it is a state park, you need to have a state park pass or you can buy it at the gate. There are 4 trails, north trail about 1.25mi (one way), not too bad. The trail will turn away some families so it is more private. Not too many people even in the summer.
FriedChicken — Google review
It's about a 10 minute walk through the trees to the beach from the parking lot. There are other trails as well. People around but not crowded. The water is a little cooler than in town. Perfect for a walk down the beach, climb up the dune, and then cool off in the lake.
Lewis L — Google review
Beautiful and very clean beach. A little hike (or long one depending on trail you take!), but it was well worth it. Smaller parking area, but it did fit our truck with trailer nicely and has a u shaped drive. (FYI, basically no cell service here once you get past the parking area!). There are a couple areas with latrines, and the parking lot has a nice pump to wash feet and other sandy gear afterward.

Wow, what a gem of a place in Saugatuck. We were staying very near at the Fern Valley Cottage just 5 minutes away. Our Airbnb host highly recommended Saugatuck Dunes State Park and we were very happy we visited. Well-marked trails to this beautiful, secluded beach after a 10-minute walk out of the State Park parking lot. Not overcrowded and plenty of beach line to explore. No bathroom facilities on or near beach, only ones available are at the parking lot when coming into the park, so plan accordingly. Entrance fee collected at the entrance to the park. We just loved this quiet secluded beach and the walk to get there.

Simply gorgeous! The north trail takes you to the beach. It’s about a 30 minute walk with about 200 feet of elevation change. Take it and you’re rewarded with a beautiful beach front view as you exit the forest onto the sandy dunes. Dogs are allowed on leashes.
Tony T — Google review
Surely enjoyed my visit here. The park is beautiful and well-maintained, and visiting while the fall colors were still on was a bonus. It’s nice that it’s pet friendly as well. Overall everyone in the area was nice too, with one exception (probably someone having a bad day). All in all, I definitely recommend.

Beautiful, beautiful shoreline! Worth the 3/4 mile walk. Walk is hilly and sandy, so be prepared for that, but not super strenuous. The view at the end is spectacular. Such a lovely place and perfect for watching the sunset.
Rebekah D — Google review
The hike through the wooded, we'll maintained trails was nice. There are several connecting trails. The path to the beach is great. Lots to explore. Pets allowed but on leash only.

Mt. Pisgah in West Michigan is a hidden gem that offers a blissful experience for nature lovers. The ascent to the top involves climbing 239 stairs, providing a good workout and rewarding visitors with stunning views of Holland. While dogs and bicycles are not allowed on the official paths, visitors can park their pets and bikes near the entrance. It's important to maintain the park's cleanliness by picking up any trash left behind.
Theres a few steps to climb 240 to be exact But we'll worth the view, there's a bench every 25 steps to rest lol
Mike A — Google review
Great place for a walk in the woods and at the top of the stairs awesome view of most of Lake Mac and the lakeshore. You can continue on well marked trails after the stair climb. Be prepared for a fair amount of stairs. If you're in reasonably good condition it should be easy, otherwise take your time there's plenty of landings with benches to rest. Beach access as well.
Titus S — Google review
If you can find the parking its worth the stop! Parking is .15 miles west of the trailhead, past the souvenir shop. Well maintained trail with great overlooks of both lakes. There's a healthy set of stairs, oil up the knees. It connects to a larger loop trail as well.
Tyler D — Google review
Great views after hiking 237.... And some very nice hiking trails
Hoddy W — Google review
Fall is a perfect time to visit. Beautiful trees, cool weather and very quiet
Warren B — Google review
Mt. Pisgah was a great place for short but steep hike. We parked about a quarter mile away and started at the trailhead near the campgrounds. After a brief walk in the woods, you are met with some pretty steep steps. It's then a straight climb up 200 steps or so to overlook both the bay and Lake Michigan. The leaves were just starting to change colors, so the views were beautiful! I wouldn't say this spot is much for a long walk or if you're trying to hike but more of a quick trip up to see a good 360 view of the area. The steps were well kept too and none of the boards seems to be overly broken or decaying.
Eva H — Google review
My spouse and I enjoyed this trail hike immensely. The stairs will kill you, that’s for sure. But the views are worth it :-) just FYI the maps are not drawn to scale at all so the stairs will take the longest and the actual hike does not take very long.
Lily A — Google review
If you are looking for paradise, look about you. West Michigan is a gem hidden in plain sight. This is just one of many places of bliss in the state. Come see for yourself! You will not regret, unless you don't like stairs (There are 239 of them!). No dogs or bicycles allowed, though you can park your dog and/or bike just after the main entrance. Stay on the official paths and be a bro' by picking up any trash you or others leave behind. Keep the parks great!

Beaches
Laketown Beach is a small public beach located along west Michigan's Fresh Coast. It offers stunning views and clear water, making it worth the effort to visit. However, visitors should be prepared for a challenging climb due to steep slopes of loose sand on the way down to the beach and back up to parking. Additionally, bug spray is essential as flies can be bothersome.
A bit difficult going back up and to the parking lot. I did use the green rope that is tied to the poles at a certain point to help me get back up! Beautiful, private, & great views
Candy G — Google review
Totally beautiful beach and powdery sand, but my god, bring the stairs back! Climbing that dune should be illegal! Beach itself is pretty small with private beaches on either side. Waves were too big to enjoy the beach unfortunately. Climbing back up the huge dune did not make it worth it to me, sadly.
Libby W — Google review
There's a small area for limited parking at the entrance to Laketown Beach. After climbing up the wooden stairway, you get to the top of the sand dunes where you can catch a beautiful view of the sunset over Lake Michigan. Great photo opportunity for sure. Important note to keep in mind: to get all the way down to the beach, there's a fairly steep long winding sandy slope, an easy run/walk down. However, this also means that at some point as it's getting dark and much cooler, you'll need to climb back up the sand dunes again!
Caroline M — Google review
It’s a nice small beach which felt private. The kids enjoyed going up the steps. I will say going back up the dune took some effort. Sunset was amazing!
Raghad H — Google review
Well we found the entrance and climbed the stairs...and then we saw we had to go down this huge sand dune 😂 and we had to climb it on the way back, they put ropes to help you hold but wooow that was super hard and cool to do it...100% will do it again haha
Yllka G — Google review
So the beach is pretty small, but decent. There are no stairs down to the beach, and let me tell you this dune is no joke, pictures don't do it justice. Maybe I'm just old and out of shape but climbing out of here is quite a lot. I even saw teens in good shape stopping to catch their breath lol, so be warned.
Steve S — Google review
It is absolutely beautiful. Just be warned that it's like walking up Sleeping Bear Dunes. If you're out of shape and asthmatic like I am, the journey back up the hill will take some effort.
Eva T — Google review
Beautiful and quiet beach. As with the dunes anywhere, make sure you can make it back up before you go down lol. Quite steep and 200+ stairs. Beautiful views, especially if you need to stop every 50 steps or so on the way back up to rest :)

Nature & Parks
Sanctuary Woods Preserve is a stunning natural area with beautiful old trees and hidden treasures like an abandoned car from the 50s. The trail features a lot of stairs at the beginning, so it's recommended to take it slow if you're not used to that many flights. Good walking shoes and water are essential for this gorgeous preserve, and bug spray may be needed.
The coolest part was the wooden trails slightly above the path, making the views even better because you could see the top of the trees at some points. Be ready for a workout though, getting up that first flight of stairs will get your heart pumping!
Amanda K — Google review
Top notch. It's not a long trail, but it's a great place. Be ready for some serious stairs. The park benches and picnic tables are very thoughtfully placed too. Just a nice little place to hike or relax in the woods.
Marcus D — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous. The stairs are a little challenging but worth it. It's a short trail with beautiful views. Our dog's enjoyed the stream. The outhouse at the parking lot was very clean
Barie F — Google review
Id recommend. Its a short loop trail with some views. There are stairs in several places, one is moderately sized. The little river crossings are great, and the chipmunks are everywhere. There werent super great views of the lake, but the woods are always beautiful. Great find.
Tyler D — Google review
Moderate hike with long stairs but nice views of woods and nature
Abdel T — Google review
Gorgeous preserve. Good walking shoes and water are nice to take along. We went on a slightly chilly day but I imagine bug spray is usually needed. Do not skip leg day if you want to straight thru the staircase. That said, they have at least 2 benches built into the sides and at the top is a nice lookout spot to sit before continuing the upper trail. Look forward to visiting again and again.
Sarai — Google review
Beautiful wooded park with nice trail system. Be prepared to do the 170 stairs (with landings to rest) going up to great views. The good thing is that the 170 stairs going back down are quite easy!
KP — Google review
Quality for a 30 minute walk in the woods. Lots of quality stairs for a good calf workout. The trees have become quite tall and you can no longer see the water from the trail. Lots of epic benches to rest. The park signage was very informational. We learned about barred owls and caspian terns. We saw a black squirrel, a grey squirrel, a chipmunk. Lots of bridges and a big circle
