Korean restaurant
Yakiniku restaurant
Yakiniku Seoul is a Korean BBQ restaurant that offers both classic kitchen-prepared dishes and the option for guests to grill their own meat. The menu includes options like naengmyeon and kalbi, with generous portions of banchan. Customers praise the delicious food, attentive service, and ample sides. The restaurant is known for its top-notch quality and reasonable prices, making it a great choice for those craving affordable yet tasty Korean cuisine.
This place is an institution. Been at this location forever. We really enjoy their Yakiniku Seoul Special. There's enough food for at least 3 people, so it's great value! Please note that for the Special, they cook the food, not you. The side dishes are also delicious. The service here was very fast and friendly, even though it was a busy Friday evening.
Lawrence W — Google review
My father took me here when I was a kid and now that I have my own child I take him here as well. When folks describe this place as an institution is really is. The food is absolutely amazing and the service from Christine the owner is stellar. You could blind fold yourself and at random pick a dish and you won’t be disappointed.
Beerye88 — Google review
The restaurant is not pretentious and overpriced, which is perfect when you are craving for affordable and great tasting Korean food. There are a lot of non meat options for pescatarians and vegetarians. The banchan is generous and the sweet servers will give you more if they see that you enjoyed them. The seafood pancake is one of the best I'd had in Oahu and I also liked that they provided options to have bibimbab with meat or not, and to be served in a normal bowl or a stone bowl so you can enjoy the crust that will form at the bottom of the rice. It's great to bring large groups for gatherings so you can take share the bbq or hotpot options.

항상 이곳에 방문할때 마다 갓 지은 밥 😋 주셔서 감사해요. "I highly recommend Yakiniku Seoul - a five-star experience! Despite its old facilities, the cleanliness is impeccable thanks to the diligent owner. The tables are spotless, and the toilets are well-maintained with a noticeable shine. This Korean restaurant prides itself on serving freshly cooked rice with every meal. The food tastes fantastic, making it a must-visit spot!"
至安Shams — Google review
This is the kind of place that gives you strength when you’re feeling down. The food isn’t too salty — it’s like the comforting side dishes your mom would make. Truly healing and highly recommended!
Leanne L — Google review
You can choose to cook the meat yourself or have them cook it for you. The staff is friendly and answers your questions. The menu is in both Korean and English. The food tastes great.
Jennifer P — Google review
I’ve been going to Yakiniku Seoul for over 25yrs and this is the best Korean restaurant in Hawai’i! It’s a very comfortable, clean and friendly place for all occasions. The best part of this restaurant is that the quality of the food is always consistent and delicious!
Unkyongyim — Google review
Very good lunch experience. The Server was very good and friendly but the manager looking lady was not very appropriate. ⁡ She was talking people on the phone followed by video calls as if she was at her home. Very loud and the volume everyone could hear the conversation as a noise. ⁡ She literally threw one set of menu as she walked by without saying anything when we were seated. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, but the call was more important I guess. I would have put five star review for the food and the server if it wasn’t the manager’s attitude

Japanese restaurant
Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar is a vibrant and trendy dining spot that beautifully blends Japanese and Pacific Rim cuisine. Known for its creative sushi rolls, like the Panko Crusted Ahi Roll and the visually stunning Kapalua Butterfly Roll, this eatery offers an exciting culinary experience in a lively atmosphere. The Asian Shrimp Cake with Ginger Lime Butter is another highlight, featuring delicate shrimp encased in crispy noodles.
Sensei will ALWAYS be on our itinerary whenever we’re in Honolulu. We’ve been traveling to Honolulu for many years and have dined at many of the restaurants in Waikiki, without question Sansei is our favorite. Great ambiance, outstanding service (Beigh has been our favorite server) and the food is always incredible!! The Cajun Seared Walu Sashimi is the best Sashimi that we’ve had anywhere in the world. If you’re a fan of quality Sushi, Sensei won’t disappoint!! I would highly recommend making a reservation. Moderately priced, great value!!
Cloyce D — Google review
We were really looking forward to fresh fish during our trip to Hawaii! We were disappointed overall, unfortunately the rolls lacked a bit in flavor and were poorly constructed (they fell apart) and were cut way too thick of slices. The restaurant was not busy but the service was just ok at best, which was a bit hard to understand as there were a lot of people working. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant seemed like it could have a cool vibe, we didn't experience it but my guess is things just weren't clicking when we were there.

Tried Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar for their 50% off early bird special (Sunday & Monday, 5:00pm-5:30pm). Includes everything except dishes with two asterisks. They charge an additional 4% for food service plus 20% automatic gratuity on the grand total. - Edamame ($4.00 USD) - standard fare - Crab ramen with truffle butter broth ($20.00 USD) - lacked depth, disappointing noodles - Nobu style miso butterfish ($22.00 USD) - tender, flakey and nicely roasted - Crispy fried calamari ($7.00 USD) - standard - Crispy brussel sprouts ($8.00 USD) - Negi hama roll ($6.00 USD) - California roll ($7.38 USD) - Scallop & cucumber roll ($7.50) - solid - Unagi roll ($7.50 USD) - standard - Tekka maki roll ($7.00 USD) - ahi was fresh - Ume shiso maki roll ($3.50 USD) - good - Cucumber & avocado roll ($4.75 USD) - Hamachi sashimi ($12.50 USD for 8) - Salmon sashimi ($21.75 USD for 16) - small but good quality - Shime saba ($9.38 USD for 8) - good but smaller slices than the salmon - Tamago sashimi ($2.94 USD)

make sure to get a reservation in advance for the holiday season! sansei is connected to DK steakhouse and both menus are available. they serve a variety of “americanized” japanese dishes, and are famous for their dynamite shrimp — which although tastes good, is definitely not light or healthy. their pickled cucumbers were addictive. while the nobu style miso cod piqued our interest, it was rather underwhelming.
Iris P — Google review
Sansei Seafood Restaurant & Sushi Bar is located within Waikiki Marriott Resort and Spa. Five of us went for dinner. Service was prompt. Allie, our server went over the extensive menu and made suggestions based on our answers to her questions. We selected different Rolls and shared many dishes among ourselves. All were very tasty.
K R — Google review
A wonderful dining experience, particularly during happy hour where some of the dishes are half price. The restaurant shares space with a steakhouse (d. k.) and one can order from either menu, but sitting at the bar and sampling various sushi dishes is where it's at. Service is professional but friendly and speedy. Prices are high, but getting there early and taking advantage of the half-price menu can help make a great meal more affordable.
Michael S — Google review
Great Sushi Restaurant! I enjoyed our dinner at Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Bar! During our stay in Hawaii we dine in here for 2 times, great service, delicious rolls and very clean! Our Server was very attentive and all time was checking on us! The rolls were fresh and fast made, we enjoyed our food! Highly recommend this place! P.S. You have to make a reservation prior, because they are too busy or fully booked!
Sophiettie V — Google review
The Sunday and Monday happy hour is intense. People who lined up for a table at 4:15 didn’t get in. There are two lines, left is table, right is bar. Know this trick!!! Most things on the menu is 50% off which is amazing and the food comes out real quick. Was it good? Yes, was it the best? Probably not. Good savings though.

Brewery
Waikiki Brewing Company is a popular local brewery with two locations, one in Kalakaua and the other in Kakaako. The original location offers a spacious, laid-back atmosphere with TVs for sports enthusiasts. They serve delicious food like truffle fries and wings with their award-winning barbecue sauce made from Black Strap Molasses Porter. Their Hana Hou Hefe wheat beer, infused with strawberries, is perfect for hot summer days.
Last minute choice ended up being a good one! The service was top notch. Lots off good food, in-house draft beers were really good, the food came out hot and was incredible. Seating is plentiful with indoor and patio seating. Try it out when your in town!
Jordan C — Google review
If you’re in Waikiki and looking for good vibes, great food, and amazing drinks, Waikiki Brewing Company is the spot! We ordered the pepperoni pizza and chicken wings, and both were absolutely outstanding—crispy, flavorful, and perfect for sharing (though you might not want to!). To wash it down, we tried a Lava Flow and the Ali Wai Mermaid—both were delicious, tropical, and dangerously easy to enjoy. What really made the night, though, was our server Jazzy. She was full of energy, so much fun, and made the whole experience even better. Her vibe matched the place perfectly—laid-back, friendly, and just a great time. Between the food, drinks, and awesome service, this place is a must-visit in Waikiki. Highly recommended! 🌺🍕🍹🍗
Joey B — Google review
They have a nice selection of delicious cold draft beers. They also make other mixed drinks. We got some lunch here and everything we ordered was delicious. I ordered a nice Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The lettuce was fresh chicken was tender and the dressing was perfectly proportioned. I also ordered a burrito with the egg on top. Amazing. It's easy to hear each other in there. The wait staff are friendly and not pushy. We really enjoyed ourselves there.

Loved it here! First things first, my server was wearing a Yankees hat which almost made me leave…. But I’m glad I stayed! From the moment I was seated, everyone was very kind and attentive. My server provided some great recommendations and I ended up enjoying a strawberry IPA, which was surprisingly good. I then ate the wagyu smash burger and it was huge and delicious. You also have to try the garlic parm fries!!! This was a last minute meal before hitting Cirque Du Solei and it was the perfect option. Everything about this place was good, from the food to the staff. Will 100% come back!
Nicholas K — Google review
Third time eating at this place. Great atmosphere with plenty of room so you won’t feel crowded. Service is good as well. This week I had the classic cheeseburger and it was good but over salted. Great location; they have outdoor/indoor seating so you will enjoy the experience. Give them a try.
B J — Google review
Above average beers, plenty of seating, and I appreciated the helpful staff while sitting at the bar. Food was only okay, but beers were cold!
Jeremy Y — Google review
Very nice experience! Had the BBQ burger and it was SO good and incredibly juicy, but the highlight was the flight of draft beers (which also included an amazing cider). It is really good that you can choose the flavors. They also have incredible happy hour deals not only during normal happy hour hours but also past 9pm, and serve food until closing. It was lively even on a Wednesday. The service was absolutely amazing. Not only was everyone incredibly nice, but my server gave amazing recommendations and knew the menu really well. Great experience!

Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ is a popular spot with generous portion sizes and timely service. The all-you-can-eat lunch specials are a hit, offering a variety of meats and sides. While it's not the most budget-friendly option, the quality of food makes it worth the price. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity, and the friendly staff adds to the enjoyable dining experience.
Absolutely amazing Japanese BBQ experience in Honolulu! My girlfriend and I came here for dinner and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The quality of the meats was top-notch—melt-in-your-mouth wagyu, perfectly marinated cuts, and super fresh veggies. We loved being able to grill everything ourselves right at the table—it made the whole experience really fun and interactive. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere had that cozy, modern vibe. Great music, clean setup, and the staff even checked in to make sure we were grilling things the right way. Honestly, it felt like a hidden gem. If you’re into Japanese BBQ, this spot is a must-visit. We left full and happy haha!
Filip — Google review
The food featured average-quality meat, and I couldn’t believe they charged extra for the kimchi—it was very sour and not fresh at all, costing almost $7! The salad and chicken appetizer were good, and the rice tasted acceptable. However, the service was disappointing, as they forgot several items we ordered.
Lila C — Google review
We went for lunch and it exceeded our expectations. ***20% kama’aina discount at lunch, 15% at dinner!*** The lunch special is 2 items for $18/3 for $23, includes miso soup, Japanese salad, and a bowl of rice. Tons of food! Lots of meat! Lots of upgrade options, but the regular lunch items are delicious. We upgraded 2/3 of our meat options, added a few veggies, and got the garlic fried rice (which comes in a hot pot, so the rice got crispy on the bottom!). Taylor was our waitress and she was very friendly, helpful, and professional. Service was super fast. The restaurant is very clean, comfortable, and conveniently located.
DS B — Google review
Overall, everything was quite good. The atmosphere was fun, especially the idea that you get to cook yourself. The presentation was interesting. The beer was tasty. The pasta was also delicious. The only thing that was really bad was the asparagus – it was old and not tasty. And the dessert, the matcha tiramisu, was half-frozen, which completely spoiled the flavor. The biscuit was just plain and not softened, and the cream was hard to taste because it felt like eating grated ice. Maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be, I don’t know, as I tried it for the first time and really wanted to experience it. And if the front door was cleaner, the place would look nicer.
Mariia D — Google review
Fun spot in Waikiki if you’re craving hands-on Japanese BBQ! The meat quality was solid—especially the kalbi short rib and the garlic shrimp. The marinades were flavorful and everything cooked up perfectly right at the table. We went with one of the combo sets and it was a great value for the amount of food you get. The rice, miso soup, and dipping sauces complemented everything really well. Service was friendly and fast, and the vibe inside was casual and upbeat—great for a date night or small group. Only reason I knocked off a star was the slightly tight seating area, but overall, it’s a delicious and interactive dining experience that’s well worth trying in Waikiki.
Tre F — Google review
I’m so sad we discovered this place on our last day in hawaii, because we definitely didn’t get enough! We got the all you can eat and a beef ramen. I can’t even describe how good that ramen was. The teriyaki chicken and the New York steak are my favorites from the bbq.
Sarah G — Google review
I was hungry and don’t eat a lot but that was perfect for me and my Fiancée. We ordered from the Premium menu first- Great move! The premium sirloin, Harami Skirt steak, Beef Tongue, then ordered from the menu on first page- Umakara Ribeye. Also from the Premium steak again with the Kalbi Chuck Rib, and the Bistro Hanger Steak. 🥩 All very tender and delicious! The Beef Shukiyaki Rice was delicious too. 🤤

Takeout Restaurant
Ginza Bairin Tonkatsu is a cozy restaurant located in the heart of Waikiki, offering authentic Japanese cuisine with a focus on breaded pork cutlets. The star of the menu is Berkshire pork, creating crispy and juicy bites that are complemented by the specialty sauce created by founder Nobukatsu Shibuya. The restaurant also offers seafood and poultry options for those looking for variety.
Authentic Japanese restaurant that serves very well-presented and flavorful food. I've never had katsu that is so juicy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside. Highly recommended if you go to Honolulu! The restaurant is pretty small so I'd recommend making a reservation before going.
Yen C — Google review
A traditional Japanese restaurant with an authentic atmosphere and well-prepared dishes. The food was flavorful and nicely presented, and the service was warm and friendly throughout our visit. Prices are a little on the higher side compared to similar places, but overall it’s a pleasant dining experience if you’re looking for quality Japanese cuisine.
Wei L — Google review
We made reservations for 6:30 but got there a bit earlier and they let us in. Thank you for that, since we're hungry. We had Pork tenderloin set and another one but premium set. The meat was so tender and panto was so light and crunchy. Tonkatsu sauce was delicious. Giant shrimp tempura was so ono! Curry that came with premium set was delicious. Our server was amazing. Very attentive and friendly. His name is Scott. Parking is next to ABC store in the Bank building underground. Make sure to bring ticket to get validation. This is our 2nd times at this restaurant. Will definitely come back again.
Kay B — Google review
Now this was a very impressive meal! In general I am not the biggest fan of Japanese food, but this was one of my best experiences. My biggest dissatisfaction was that I wish I had a little more meat, since I had so many ways to eat it that I ran out of pork before anything else. I tried the deluxe set of the 200 gram pork katsu: Katsu – A nice piece of meat covered well in crispy breading and fried. The meat was very properly cooked, not rare at all and still juicy and tender. It can’t be cooked better. Unfortunately, the bottom side of the breading still ended up getting soggy despite the metal wire stage holding up the pork. The sides and top were very good, crispy but not crunchy, holding up to the addition of sauces but not requiring extra force to eat. The fat cap on one end was a bit rich since there wasn’t much meat to balance it out. The mustard on the side was my favorite topping. I don’t have a high wasabi tolerance and the mustard’s nasal effect was a bit strong, but I really enjoyed the flavor in combination with the pork. Miso soup – flavorful, savory, not too salty Egg custard – sort of a steamed egg with toppings of mushroom, veggie, and a piece of chicken or something. Very light and interesting, egg texture was like silken tofu. Rice and barley rice – not the biggest difference I think, the barley rice has a bit more texture and nutty flavor but the white rice is softer and more aromatic. Sesame seed katsu sauce and curry – deep, savory additions to the pork. I was dunking every other bite in them and still didn’t manage to finish it. I also wish a could have ground up my sesame a bit more fine, but the little pestle was taken from me before I was quite done. Sesame ice cream – this was not listed as on option on the menu but was presented to me as a choice by the server, so I had to try it (I believe the menu options were green tea and lilikoi, but the green tea had run out). It was probably served a little too cold since it was solid and not very fluffy, but still the sesame flavor was strong and it wasn’t too rich or sweet. We also got the edamame appetizer (garlic and anchovy version) even though it supposedly was not available after 6:00p ( we ordered a few minutes after), which was refreshing and had great savory flavors in the sauce.
Thomas Y — Google review
Excellent food and service! Ordered the Kurobuta Pork katsu deluxe set. Was cooked perfectly. Tender with a light crunchy batter. A bit pricey but the quality is there. Free refills of sides (miso soup, rice, lettuce) when deluxe set is ordered.
Cliff L — Google review
Yes, the food is definitely on the pricey side—but honestly, what more can you ask for? I haven’t had tonkatsu this good since my last trip to Japan. It’s not your everyday Japanese restaurant kind of tonkatsu—this one is next level. Crispy, juicy, perfectly cooked… just magical. Totally worth the splurge!
Freddie P — Google review
Delicious, cooked perfectly, crispy. Absolutely must try. I had the signature one which is limited per day. There’s 2 restaurants but they are the same? I went to the one on the right and I got turned away because of no booking, the one on the left let us in straight away. Just FYI
Jimmy H — Google review
We liked this restaurant so much that we went back twice during our 5-day trip. After our first visit, it was easily our top pick of the entire trip. Unfortunately, during the second visit, we were served a fried pork cutlet that wasn’t fully cooked — the inside was still raw. While this was clearly a serious oversight, the staff handled it well and refunded the dish immediately. Luckily, we didn’t have any adverse reactions. Overall, the food is still excellent and worth trying — just be sure to double-check your pork!

Hawaiian restaurant
The Japanese restaurant Asahi Grill Ward features comfort food such as oxtail soup and chicken salad, and is known for its quality. It is located in the Ward at the foot of Waialae Avenue in Honolulu, three months after it closed its Keeaumoku location to make way for a new condo development.
Great hole in the wall! I am giving it 5 stars for its genre. As far as low key catch all cooked Japanese food with breakfast. This place definitely has a cult following to it. Saw a lot of Japanese tourists and locals eating here on a random Sunday lunch. I’d definitely come back. For me this is like a hang over spot where you just need comfort food. They apparently have a good oxtail soup.
Mike C — Google review
I visit Oahu at least once a quarter, and every time, I make sure to stop at this spot. It has a relaxed, casual vibe and consistently excellent food. It’s definitely a local favorite. The oxtail soup with rice and ginger is my go-to—pure comfort food that hits the spot every time. While the menu has plenty of other great options, you really can’t go wrong with this classic.
Annette F — Google review
I was very thirsty later that night. Maybe it was the MSG or just the seasoning, but I really felt it. That said, Asahi Grill was lively with locals, Japanese, and other Asian guests, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Their famous oxtail soup is definitely worth trying – flavorful, rich, and comforting. The portions are huge! I even saw the table next to us packing up leftovers to take home.Affordable prices, tasty food, but be prepared for that extra seasoning!

We’ve been meaning to come here for years and finally happened to stop for lunch about 11:30 am. It was a sizable dining space and half full when we came in, looked like mostly locals so that was a good sign. Only one server handled the entire dining room competently and we got our meals fairly quickly after ordering. Hubby got the chicken katsu, and was surprised at how large the serving was for a mini. I got the cheeseburger meal, which is served with fries and a soda for $13. Loved the homemade burger party, but the bun was just meh - not toasted long enough to get the bread warm and soft, I ended up taking off the bottom off and eating it with just the top. Kept the lettuce and tomato, ditched the fresh onion. Fries were ok. The prices were very reasonable, we’ll be going back to try the ox tail soup, which everyone seems to be raving about. Parking available on the side, may be right for bigger trucks.

Come and check this place out....asahi grill..local good food. Ordered the ribeye, teriyaki chicken and lup cheong fried rice. Was pretty good. Check em out next time your in the area. Limited parking. Go early.

We followed a blogger’s recommendation and tried Asahi Grill, since it is close by. We ordered the Combination Don (tonkatsu and shrimp tempura for $16.95) to go, since the description sounded appetizing. However, to our extreme disappointment, when we got home and dug into the rice bowl, it was so salty we couldn’t swallow a second bite. The saltiness is similar to eating an entire bowl of anchovies. The rice was loaded with the sauce, which was saltier than soy sauce. We threw away the entire bowl without taking a second bite. $16.95 down the drain. @Asahi Grill — your cook should try your food before serving… I’m pretty sure today was the last time we’ll ever try this place. Sura Hawaii is a Korean BBQ restaurant that offers grill-at-the-table yakiniku barbecue, staying open late into the night. The restaurant aims to provide an authentic Korean BBQ experience, catering to both locals and tourists with its warm aloha spirit and friendly staff. Established in 2012, Sura Hawaii has become a popular destination for both Hawaiian locals and visitors, offering high-quality meats and traditional Korean dishes.
Great KBBQ experience! My first time here for lunch hour (~1pm). It wasn’t busy, we got seated immediately. Shoutout to our server who asked if we had our student ID (10% off for UHM students with valid ID!), she wanted to remember to give us discount! My friend and i definitely ate our money’s worth, the lunch special is worth the price! Everything was very clean and vibes were great. Also they have a call button system so no need wait long for them to get their attention—FIRE experience.

I got the steak bowl delivered via uber eats, probably the worst steak bowl I’ve ever had on the island in the past 10 years, the steak was ridiculously over cooked, chewy, had literally no flavor what so ever… (tasted worse than plain hamburger meat which I don’t mind) . It was suppose to come with “pickled vegetables” I got 4 prices of cucumber in a tiny ranch cup, and a tiny ranch cup of Mac salad. Absolute worse value of any meal I’ve ever ordered for that price, $18. Can’t say anything about the staff cause I got delivery but the vibe of the inside always looks really cool. I could understand if this was some small, hole in the wall place but it’s a legit restaurant that has been here since I moved here 10 years ago. Many people warned me that the food wasn’t great here but now I know for sure, would not recommend, have also heard ALOT of people complain about the quality of food as well. Will never order here again.

Cool experience. The steak was the one thing that we really couldn’t eat. It was too chewy couldn’t really cut a knife through it. Shrimp, chicken, and brisket were good.

Solid all you can eat spot with good quality meats and side dishes. Wish they had more options for meat. The 2 hour time limit is strict which I find annoying since they take so long to bring more meats when requested

Just off the plane and in need of food. We asked hotel staff for recommendation and this was it. Our server, Jose, was awesome and over the top! The food on the other hand … more fat than meat, skimpy on the veggies. I didn’t love that our veggies were sitting out in the table when they sat us. It did not speak “fresh” to me. All in all, it was overpriced and lacking in quality.

Super fun eating experience. This was our first time having Korean BBQ. You have 90 minutes to eat and it’s all you can eat too! Very affordable price as well. I think it was $28 or $30 per person. The employees were very attentive, friendly, and they have buttons as well in case you need something before they come back around. My favorite was the bulgogi, garlic shrimp, and the cheesy corn.
Britini C — Google review
This place used to be so amazing. The new changes they’ve made have made the experience not nearly as good as before with a new self serve salad bar and sides and a changed menu. The seasonings are not as good as before and the house salad dressing no longer exists, our server said the shoyu is now the house salad dressing? The changes are just overall not good and I hope they can improve and go back to a better overall experience

Gen Korean BBQ House is a local chain that offers a luxurious yet traditional Korean BBQ experience in a trendy, modern setting. Located at Ala Moana shopping center in Honolulu, it provides a unique dining experience with its communal eating and diverse menu options including fresh meats, seafood, and vegetables. The restaurant's ultra-modern feel and fixed in grill tables add to the authentic atmosphere. Don't miss out on their tantalizing ban-chan (side dishes) that complement every meal.
100/10 I absolutely recommend! First let me say that Corey the manager is a life saver! Our soccer team traveled to HI from CA to compete in the Aloha International Cup. We are a group of 60+ people. I had the hardest time finding a restaurant in Waikiki that would serve a party our size. I was even laughed at and told such a large party would be impossible in Waikiki especially on a Friday. Corey proved them wrong. He not only accommodated us, when we arrived all our tables were prepared, we started with the most popular 4 premium meats, we had the absolute BEST service! Thank you Corey, Joel, Randy & Willy for saving the day and making sure we were not only well taken care of but also made sure we got to experience the delicious variety Gen Korean BBQ has to offer. The location has plenty of parking, the atmosphere was amazing, restrooms were clean. If you are looking for a great place to eat with family/ friends, look no further.

We were only informed after being seated that many menu items were unavailable. The sauce tray was dirty, with leftover oil from previous customers. Compared to locations on the mainland U.S., the differences were stark — the restaurant’s cleanliness, the quality of the meat, and even the fried items (which were served cold) were all disappointing. Staff seemed poorly trained, playing rave music and goofing off during service. Overall, this was a terrible dining experience. It completely ruined my friend’s birthday dinner. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Gen K-BBQ is a great option around the Waikiki area. The price can’t be beat. The food quality is decent, made better considering the price. The selection of items is good, even the regular non premium menu option. Some of the meat options were on the tough side, like the premium steak, pork belly and ox intestines. Our server Lauren was great. Initially she was really busy so it was a slow start but when she wasn’t as busy, she was quite attentive and friendly. I would recommend it and will be back.

ATMOSPHERE: They've taken over the huge footprint that was Tsukiji Fish Market in Ala Moana Center. By the looks of it, the dining area is about 3/4 of what Tsukiji was, but still gargantuan by any means. It reminded me of a contemporary funhouse inside with dark walls, blue ambient lighting, with plexiglass and mirror design effects. It's quite aromatic inside as not all tables have a hood vent over them, so you will come out smelling like BBQ. MENU: Traditional banchan, meats, poultry, pork, seafood, vegetables. Because we were having lunch on a Saturday, we had to pay the dinner menu price vs. the lunch price, and is probably the reason why we had no wait time. ORDERING: Contrary to older reviews, according to our server they don't really enforce the limit of food you can order (and charge you extra for uneaten portions). Just be civil, I say. We ordered six selections between the two of us which was perfect. FOOD: A trio of seasonings were presented for personal use. Green tea salt for sprinkling, a sweet/savory soy-based sauce, and a sesame oil-based sauce. No rules, just use the one you like best. Included were a spread of banchan for each person, a forgettable Romaine salad with an Asian dressing, steamed white rice (undercooked, unfortunately) and steamed rice wrappers for fajita-like use with the meats. Cajun Shrimp - Heads & legs-on, not spicy, good taste. Nook Gan Sal (marinated finger short rib) - This was my favorite meat in taste and texture (firmer). Garlic Chicken - Sounds boring but was really tasty and cooked faster than expected. Beef Bulgogi - Not a fan as it was too fatty and soft. Calamari Steak - Mistakingly brought to us but we accepted. Chewy, tasteless and boring, just as I expected. Pass. Hangjungsal (pork cheek) - Got this on recommendation by our server. Tasty, thin strips of meat and fat with bacon-like flavor. Highly recommended by my tongue, not by my arteries. Jap Chae - Already cooked and savory-seasoned glass noodles. Very good. SERVICE: Host greeting was quick and friendly. Our male server was also friendly and helpful but had short term memory. We asked twice for more napkins and finally received them on our third try via another worker. TIPS: The conical propane grill at the table cooked food quickest towards the center of it due to the heat source. Workers changed out charred grill pans throughout our meal. You have a 2-hour eating time limit inside which was more than enough for the two of us. OVERALL: Fun concept, pricey lunch menu on weekends, good flavors.

Service was good, YET. The food was not the best considering it was a very PRICEY meal for 2 people. The meats were not the best qualities for what you are paying. I have eaten many Korean restaurants and this place was the worst food I have tasted in a long time. If you want the experience of Korean culture then YES..But, not for the food..

I had a good time eating at Gen Korean BBQ. Everything from the food to the service was good. To start I would say the meats were good but some were not of the highest quality. The selection of different meats were quite extensive which I thought was nice. I enjoyed the side dishes we order such as the cheese corn and cheese tonkatsu which was fresh and crispy. The service started off slow as our waiter was busy but gradually improved as some tables were finishing up. Considering the price of the lunch menu I was very impressed and would come back again.

Everything would’ve been 5 stars and great if our servers service was better… I’m a server/bartender and my sister is a retired server, so we understand and know how things work and the hustle. We always say thank you, and when said there was no response and just a quick drop of the items we ordered and quickly walking away. Our servers name is Megan, I felt like there was a weird tension or something that we did wrong due to the fact that she would talk and give service to other tables around us so differently. I flew from Arizona and this was my last meal with my family so I was hoping to enjoy… but this experience was not great. I was hoping to bless my last server here in Hawaii with a great tip but I’d rather keep it to my self now with this attitude.
Caelyn K — Google review
Disappointed with Cleanliness and Quality I was really looking forward to enjoying Korean BBQ here, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing due to cleanliness and food quality concerns. The grill plate was visibly unclean, with bubbling grease and residue coming up as it heated. I politely asked for the grill to be replaced not once, but three separate times, and each time it came back with the same issue—grease buildup and signs it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned. That alone raised serious food safety concerns. On top of that, the meat quality was subpar—it didn’t seem fresh or well-prepared. To make matters worse, the utensils provided were oily, which made the whole experience feel unsanitary and unprofessional. This place has potential, but cleanliness needs to be taken more seriously. I hope the management reviews their cleaning protocols and food quality standards. Until then, I can’t recommend it.

Sorabol Korean Restaurant is a beloved 24/7 dining spot in Honolulu, renowned for its cook-your-own Korean BBQ and traditional dishes like kimchi and bibimbap. Recently relocated to the picturesque Pagoda Hotel, diners can enjoy their meals while surrounded by serene koi ponds. This local gem offers a variety of favorites such as kalbi, spicy crab stew, and even ginseng chicken soup—though it comes at a premium price.
A great local Korean restaurant with delicious dishes and entertaining atmosphere! We reserved ahead for our party of 8 and were seated in a beautiful stand-alone gazebo surrounded by very many koi fish, which kept my little cousins busy while we waited for our food. My local family members recommended this restaurant as somewhere they have been coming for years and always take visitors like us to and it was great! I highly recommend their meat jun (a local Korean/Hawaiian dish), fried fish, and grilled chicken. Their assortment of side dishes (banchan) was a great accompaniment to the main course, and their rice cake soup was delicious too. I’d definitely like to go back again when I visit Oahu again 😋

This is one of the few places in Honolulu that I could find ginseng chickens soup albeit a bit on the pricy side at $28 a pop. Ginseng prices must have gone up without notifying me. Such is life. We also had an oxtail soup and as well as rib soup (Kalbitang). All the soups tasted good, though not great. The side dishes were very standard and tasted pretty good. The service was friendly and the sitting area was interesting to say the least. It resembled an old time Korean restaurant with artificial lake surrounding the main sitting area.

This is a true gem. It’s honestly the best authentic Korean food I have ever tried in my life. The service is excellent, the food is so hot and fresh, the prices are very reasonable. I would come back in a heart beat. I love how before you walk in the restaurant to my surprise there is koi fish ponds surrounding the restaurant. Overall one of my favorite Korean restaurants I have ever been to. I ordered the Sorabol Special for Two and it came with an amazing assortment of foods including meat jun, fish jun, side dishes, yellow corvina and more. I’m so excited to be coming back to this restaurant.

Second time here and everything was just as delicious as last time. We got a different server today and she was as attentive, quirky, and patient as our last one. We ordered food cooked in their kitchen so that everyone could eat together. The servers brought out our drinks, rice, and sides quickly after we ordered and made sure everyone was served. We ordered BBQ chicken, beef bulgogi, meat jun/gogi jun (pan-fried egg battered beef), seafood pancake, japchae (glass noodles), soon dubu chi-ke (spicy soft tofu pot stew with clam) and two orders of their seasoned sliced pork belly. We had to order lettuce and sliced raw garlic separately--it's not part of the meal. Everything was made/cooked fresh. We appreciated how fast everything came out since we spent the day at the beach and we were all pretty hungry. The kids always enjoy the atmosphere. They love looking and searching for the big koi fish and little turtles. The building is so uniquely structured. Parking is street parking with an option for valet parking. It's an early Monday evening so it was pretty easy to find spots for both of our cars. We ended the night with a sweet rice drink. It was really cold and sweet. All in all we highly recommend this place. We all left happy and full.

Seoul Garden Yakiniku is a charming and trendy venue in Honolulu that offers delectable Korean cuisine, including tabletop BBQ and lunch specials. This rustic-chic spot is renowned for its diverse menu and great value. Located near the Hawaii Convention Center and Ala Moana Hotel, it caters to both local office workers during lunchtime, with prices ranging from $5.95 to $8.95, as well as tourists in the evening.
Went with friends for lunch/dinner with a party of 8. Once we entered, we were greeted and sat at a table. Staff were very friendly and sociable. I found the restaurants aesthetic very homey. We ordered the All You Can Eat with a choice of 3 meat and 3 soups. Plenty of small sides came with it. It was pretty expensive but it’s Korean BBQ, I think it was worth it.

All the meats and especially the soups were good, and orders came out quick. I liked the kimchi, banchan, and sauces. The reviews about the compulsory tipping were concerning, but our server was nice.

A good place for lunch or dinner. The lunch menu offers generous quantity while maintaining the level of quality. Dinner seating available as booths or private rooms for groups of large families & friends. Yakiniku (BBQ) offered as Ala Carte or All-you-can-eat, good value considering the quality and price. Attentive service, the staff is considerate to not over serve guests and they will attend when you're in need, often predicting your needs. Other dishes typical to Korean cuisine are done well and just as one would expect, no shortcuts. Banchan (반찬) included with meal.

I REALLY DO NOT MIND SPENDING MONEY IN A RESTAURANT WHEN IT IS HONEST. WIFE AND I ARE 67 EACH. I ASKED THE WAITRESS WHEN WE FIRST SAT DOWN ABOUT THE ALL YOU CAN EAT $49.00 MEAL. SHE SAID YES. MY WIFE ORDERED SOUP FOR HERSELF I ORDERED THE ALL YOU CAN EAT FOR MYSELF KNOWING IT WAS JUST FOR ME. WHEN WE WENT TO LEAVE AND PAY THE BILL THEY CHARGED ME FOR 2 PEOPLE $49.00 EACH FOR THE ALL YOU CAN EAT EVEN THOUGH MY WIFE ONLY ATE HER SOUP AND NOTHING ELSE. I ATE A VERY LITTLE BIT OF THE MEAL / MEAT AND A FULL PLATTER OF UNCOOKED MEAT WAS LEFT OVER THAT WAS NOT TOUCHED. I NEVER WOULD EXPECT TO TAKE THE LEFTOVER UNCOOKED MEAT. THEY WOULD NOT LET US TAKE THE VERY FEW SMALL AMOUNT OF COOKED PIECES OF LEFTOVER MEAT HOME. WE WAS CHARGED $172.00 DOLLARS. MY WIFE COULD NOT EVEN TAKE HER 1/2 BOWL OF LEFTOVER SOUP OF $46.00.00 WE HAD TO LEAVE IT THERE. I HAVE LIVED IN HAWAII OVER 47 YEARS I WILL NEVER EVER TELL ANYONE TO EAT THERE AND STAY AWAY RUDE AND NOT HONEST.

We came here on a Saturday, noon. There are couple of stalls in front of the restaurant. They have lunch specials for certain dishes and they also have an all-you-can-eat yakiniku. We ordered a bibimbap in hot stone bowl, spicy barbecue chicken with seaweed soup and small bowl of rice, and bulgogi with mixed rice in hot stone pot and spicy tofu soup. To start off, they gave five banchan (small dishes) of kimchi and veggies. They offer to refill two of them, if you ask. The bibimbap was delicious, they give bottle of bibimbap sauce where you can squirt as much of it onto the rice. The spicy barbecue chicken was good as well. Not sure if it is mixed with gochujang and other spices, but the spice level was more mild and sweet. This dish comes with a small bowl and seaweed soup and rice. The bulgogi with mixed rice in hot stone bowl and a choice of either seaweed or spicy tofu soup. The bulgogi dish was marinated well and wasn’t salty. Went with the spicy tofu soup, it came out piping hot! The spice level was a three out of ten, but it was favored well. I think they used half of a tofu. The mixed rice in stone pot came out last cause it is made to order - dip it in the tofu soup to soften it up. They gave a metal pitcher containing hot water for you to pour into the stone bowl and scrape off the hardened rice, if you like rice crackers then definitely do it. Each set was $15 - $20. The staff was friendly and super nice. Really prompted. There is also a call them on the table where to ask for them. They take all major credit cards and cash. Parking might be a little harder to come by at night cause there is a “club” next door.

Inaba's is a popular Japanese restaurant in Honolulu serving soba, tempura and sushi. The food is beautifully plated and the atmosphere is comfortable and casual.
The BEST soba in Oahu! I visited for two consecutive days because I was craving it. I tried the tempura and zaru soba set, as well as the Hana soba. The soba was super chewy, and the tororo topping was delicious. The tempura tasted so fresh and crispy. Come here for a traditional Japanese dining experience :)

Soba here is phenomenal. I got the mushroom one. My boyfriend got the cold dipping soba with vegetable tempura. I think the dipping soba tastes better, because the mushroom broth is very mild.

I came here hoping to try their soba for breakfast, but I didn’t realize it was only offered later in the day. Instead, I went with their traditional Japanese breakfast, and it was delicious. The fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The only drawback was that the meal came at a higher cost than I expected.

The battera sushi and soba here are so good they honestly make me happy. The sashimi’s freshness and the perfectly cooked soba are true Japanese quality. The tables are quite close, so you can definitely overhear your neighbors’ conversations (lol). It’s always packed inside, so rather than a slow, relaxing lunch, I’d say come here to fully enjoy the food — then head to a café afterward to chat. The waitresses are super attentive with that amazing Japanese-style hospitality.🍣🍜🇯🇵

Really busy location. Not only did we reserve a table but had to pre-order the food before showing up. But the food was soooo authentic and good! Don't have to travel to Japan for excellent soba. Yakiniku restaurant
Million Restaurant in Honolulu is a bustling spot known for its delectable Korean cuisine, including bibimbap and yakiniku grilled meats. The restaurant offers late-night hours, making it a popular choice among locals and visitors alike. While the interior may appear simple, the food speaks volumes with its flavorful offerings. Guests can opt to grill their own meats, choosing from a variety of options that cater to different preferences.
On my last day visiting Hawaii I ordered takeout from Million Restaurant in Honolulu, and enjoyed the delicious meal at the airport. I tried their Meat Jun and BBQ Chicken Plate, and it turned out to be a delectable , satisfying experience—especially for a quick meal on the go. Million Restaurant is a solid choice for anyone craving flavorful Hawaiian-Korean fusion food. While I didn’t dine in, the takeout experience was excellent—quick, convenient, and high-quality. Both the Meat Jun and BBQ Chicken Plate were satisfying, but the BBQ Chicken Plate really stood out for its smoky, tender chicken and well-balanced sides. Video Review will be posted on Tik Tok and Instagram soon @Foxyappetite In depth review: Atmosphere (Takeout Experience): Although I didn’t dine in, it’s worth mentioning that Million Restaurant has a simple, local vibe, ideal for those who want a no-frills, homey meal. The restaurant itself is small and casual, which makes it perfect for quick takeout orders. I picked up my meal without a long wait, and the staff was friendly and efficient, even during busy hours. They packed everything neatly, making it easy to enjoy the food once I arrived at the airport. Service: Service for takeout was efficient and courteous. I called and made my order before picking up and given that I was in a bit of a rush to get to the airport, the food was ready on time, and the portions were generously packed. The staff’s attention to detail in ensuring that everything was properly sealed for takeout was much appreciated. Food: Meat Jun: I was pleasantly surprised by the Meat Jun, especially since takeout can sometimes affect the crispiness of fried items. The batter stayed crispy, and the beef was tender and flavorful. The marinade was a good balance of sweet and savory, though I would have liked it to be a little more pronounced in flavor. The dipping sauce was a nice touch, though it could’ve used a little more acidity or spice to elevate the overall dish. Even after the short transit time to the airport, the Meat Jun held up well and tasted fresh. BBQ Chicken : The BBQ Chicken was grilled perfectly, with a satisfying smoky flavor and a beautiful caramelized glaze from the BBQ sauce. Even though it had been packed for takeout, the chicken remained juicy and tender inside, with a nice char on the outside. The BBQ sauce itself was sweet and flavorful, though slightly on the sweeter side for my taste. The plate came with a generous portion of rice and a side of macaroni salad. The rice was perfectly steamed, and the mac salad had that creamy, tangy taste you’d expect from a good Hawaiian-style version. The portions were generous, and the entire plate was filling and well-balanced. My best friend also ordered the fried salmon, and it didn’t disappoint. The salmon was perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining moist and tender on the inside. The seasoning was simple but flavorful, allowing the natural taste of the fish to shine. She was really happy with her choice and even mentioned it was one of the better fried salmon dishes she’s had in a while. Price: For the quality and portion size, Million Restaurant offers great value for money. The prices are reasonable for the generous servings you get. My takeout order was a satisfying meal that didn’t break the bank, which is a major plus, especially when traveling. It’s a good option if you’re looking for something affordable and tasty without the hassle. Overall: If you’re looking for a filling, delicious meal on the go (especially if you’re headed to the airport), Million Restaurant is definitely worth considering. The food is flavorful, the service is efficient, and the price is right. I’ll be back for sure, and I’m curious to try more of their menu next time!

A couple of co-workers and I stopped in for lunch at the Sheridan Street location. This is a regular stop on our rotation of lunch spots whenever my co-workers have their hair cut. I almost always order the Meat Jun / BBQ Chicken plate. The serving is generous and the selection of banchan is pretty good. The service is fast and we're usually in and out in 30 minutes. It's not gourmet, just good Korean comfort food.

Most fraudulent Korean restaurant I’ve ever been to. Their “sesame oil” wasn’t it. When called out, they (with no shame) admitted it was vegetable oil. See picture for difference between real and fake sesame oil. Never coming here again and would not recommend.

Great customer service and set up for cooking your own Korean food. Unfortunately, I didn’t think that the quality of the meats were the best. I’ve had much better here in Hawaii. I would recommend having some friends coming over here and having drinks and eating, I just don’t recommend the food

on Thanks giving day, this morning I arrive there about 1045am, there are so many people waiting for ordering food. I am waiting 45min to get my food. And the service lady is so rude to communicate with customers. I order three kind food, one is orange chicken, one is pork chop salt pepper and one whole roast duck. Chicken and pork is Okay taste. But the roast duck is terrible!! It is over cooked and I doubt it is over-night leftover roast duck!! Can see picture 1. My mom bought another roast duck after me around 1130am. It is better and looks fresh, see picture 2. I never come back this restaurant again!! No recommend!!

I ordered Choy Sum with Garlic for $13.50 as I wanted to eat healthy today and it worked out great. It tasted lot better than eating salad with dressing at other places and they gave a lot so it filled me up pretty good. They were quite busy but the service was quick and smooth and the food was great so I do recommend this place.

Phone in order, apparently they use the phone number as identification because that’s what I use to pick up my order. Ordered Won Ton Noodle Soup, Ginger Sauce Chicken, and Salt and Pepper Prawns. The soup was delicious so was the Ginger Chicken. A few prawns were a little on the soft side (maybe previously frozen?) otherwise good…note: I like the crunchiness of the shells so I don’t bother to remove the shells. They have so much to choose from, I’d like to try. Definitely recommend. Second order shown…Singapore Noodles comes with bbq pork and shrimp but we asked for beef instead, very accommodating. Prawns were very good and tasty. Love the Young Chow Fried Rice. They only do takeaway. Lots of options.

Take out experience. Really tasty good food joint we tried. We will be going back to try few more dish for sure. Ginger chicken and pork char siew on rice was excellent. Good price for the quality you get. One of the best ginger sauce I’ve tried in Hawaii.

Char siu looked old and was super dry. $18 is way too expensive for old meat. That the staff was so rude didn't help.
Patricia C — Google review
Order at door or by phone. Food is good. Very popular. Sometimes long wait for order to come out. Parking at Safeway is convenient. Entree order does not include rice portion enough for 2. Weekly specials in paper but no signage at store

Reviews made me go. So Disappointed. Turned out to be average food with xtra rude service. Chow Fun was oily (over used oil), other order was bleh. They were out of bbq meats & made it seem like customers fault for not coming sooner?! Maybe I missed what people are liking, but this Place has no atmosphere with attitude of ‘make up your mind & order, pay me…NEXT!’. Definitely not going back.

Gen Korean BBQ House is a trendy local chain that offers a unique dining experience with its Korean BBQ grilled tableside and ban-chan in a modern setting. With locations in Aiea and Honolulu, it's popular among both locals and tourists. Despite being located inside the Ala Moana shopping center, it stands out as one of the best places to eat in Oahu.
Atmosphere is okay, but there was some water dripping where we seated, so I was seated a little far from my daughter. Server was awesome. We tried the premium additional $20 per person. Foods were great but it was too much and something not appealing for my kids. They only want plain ones like pork belly, BBQ chicken, calamari steak, etc. The soju in the pitcher was great. I loved it! I'm not sure what the name of this rice but it's tasty! Same thing with the dessert 😋😋😋😋 Will definitely go back!!!

I was so exited to try this place only to be severely disappointed. Only good thing about this place was the put drinks and our server. The food is so gross. Not authentic at all, kimchi is sour in a strange manufactured way. I’m not sure how to describe it besides that. Every sauce tastes like chemicals and the spicy tofu soup tastes like it has tajin for some reason and the meats are terrible quality. “Premium” menu is not worth it, if you want the Waygu just get the beef belly since it’s the exact same cut (through it’s not supposed to be) either way it’s so old paper like . Kimchi rice was so mid and the ramen I swear was instant and they only must’ve used 1/3rd of the seasoning packet bc it was lacking flavor! Drinks were expensive and not bad but not worth their price. Water was good though, the must have a good filter. Also to add to everything we got here at 2:12 pm because we wanted the lunch option and got on the waiting list which the host said would be about a 30-35 min wait. We understood and waited but by the time we were told to come in it was 3:10 pm so we had to do the dinner option. That sucked too but I still had hope the food would be worth it but nope. Honestly it’s the worst food at a restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Overall I do not recommend this place and if you’re looking for someplace seemingly similar and actually worth the price, I recommend Guy Kaku! Good cuts of meat and way better bang for your buck!

So let me start by saying I've been going to this location since it first opened, and slowly by slowly it's been going downhill. Today was the last day I set foot in that location. I was the second group in that day, got in around 10:05. The smell of musk and moldy water permeated throughout the restaurant. The manager (I assume that it was as he was in a collared shirt different from the other people working in black shirts) sat us at a table right next to an empty cart covered in water, riddled with flies. He didn't seem to mind. Our server, who saw my daughter shooing them away from her face, graciously moved us away. The smell still there, this new table the seats were sticky, and ants crawling around the preset plate settings (and banchan left on the tables). Went to the bathroom while waiting for our food to arrive with open doors to what I assume was janitorial closet on the way to the bathroom. Sadly, the bathroom was the best smelling place in that location. Probably because it was never used that day, with the overwhelming smell of cleaner and air freshener that permeated the air. Our server, who was slow, but rightfully so. He was in charge of at least 10 tables, delivering food, refilling drinks, and taking orders. Management is the main reason why this place is failing in my book. While our server was running around attempting to fill orders, (again, I only assume it was management as they were dressed differently) what was management doing? Playing on their phones in the open kitchen. I don't know if they do not realize that it's open, and customers can see, or they just don't care. There were two of them, and I counted at least 6 instances between the two that they were on their phones instead of helping out the servers. 65 minutes into service, they (the managers, yes, two.) finally grabbed a plate and started attending to customers. By that time I had a total of 2 orders delivered and was over it. Paid cash and left. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I'm honestly amazed the health inspector hasn't shut it down. People in the kitchen handling food without gloves, without washing their hands, after picking up dirty plates from peoples tables. Cross contamination at its best. It's that bad.

I’ve always gone to Sikdorak whenever I wanted KBBQ, but this trip to Gen has definitely changed that! I really liked how clean the restaurant was, and I appreciated that the AC was blasting since it can get hot when grilling. Our server was very attentive, even with how crowded it was. The meat quality was pretty good overall, and my favorite was definitely the kalbi. I usually go for the pork jowl and thin brisket, but this time I thought they were just okay. The only downside was that the grill didn’t get hot enough, so cooking the meat took longer than I would’ve liked. But overall I really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back.

I had a way better experience than I expected. They did seat me at a dirty table but the table was meant for 4 people so I sat in the opposite corner. I went for lunch which was $19.99(21.94 with tax) and it was all you can eat with a 2 hour time limit. They can bring 4 meats and 2 sides at a time. They have 4 cold sides just sitting out at the tables(one of the servers grabbed some off another table and set it on mine). Kimchi cucumber, napa cabbage kimchi, I believe one was radish and the last one tasted like pickled onions. They were room temperature(probably from sitting out). They weren’t bad but also weren’t great. I ordered the japchae and mandu as appetizers. I really enjoyed the mandu. For the main part, I ordered spicy bulgolgi pork, garlic chicken, and garlic samgyubsal. Other KBBQ places I’ve been to bring out 2 pieces of meat per order so that’s what I was expecting and it isn’t what I got. The amount of meat served was way more than I thought. I was barely able to power through those 3 choices before calling it quits. The garlic chicken and pork were so delicious. The bulgolgi was good too but the other 2 were my favorite. Food tasted great to me and the server was awesome! She kept dropping by to refill water and check on me. I didn’t feel rushed at any point of my lunch. Definitely worth the price for what you get!!! Music was loud but that might just be because I’m getting to the age where any music in public is too loud for me. Lol. Seriously though, watching the vids you can tell the music is super loud.

Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. I have dined here before, but the quality of service has declined severely. Despite the restaurant not being busy, my party was left waiting outside for over an hour before being seated. When we asked for an update, the staff and management were unhelpful and came across as dismissive rather than accommodating. The lack of professionalism and courtesy was very concerning and made what should have been an enjoyable outing incredibly frustrating. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the way guests are treated, as I would not recommend this restaurant based on my most recent visit.

The food is always good but I think the employees forgot that their jobs insist of customer service. I don’t expect much but at least have some decency. Our first serving of rice literally looked like mashed potatoes. Second one was good The grill wasn’t changed at all during the two hour time frame that is given to eat. A runner who bought us our food stated “I’m not a busser”, after we politely asked if he can take the finished plates, meanwhile more food is being placed onto our table. So at this point we are stacking plates and no one grabbing empty plates. We barely had any room to eat. We left a tip because we are decent and have worked in the service industry before. This specific location seemed very short staffed. Nonetheless We had to ask for water because we weren’t given any. This location has always been good to us but this experience made us not want to go back.

Came for lunch. Horrible Service. Seated quickly but waited over 30 minutes for drinks. Then they didn’t have tequila we got the wrong “soju” drink. Waited over 15 minutes for potato salad and asked MULTIPLE times. Got the premium menu ONLY during lunch and was told we had to scan the QR menu while the table next to us got a full lunch menu. I don’t know if it’s cause how we were dressed or we didn’t order off premium but horrible horrible service. If I could rate the service a negative 1 I would. LITERALLY POTATO SALAD. it is COLD MASHED POTATOES.

Yakiniku Korea House is a popular Korean restaurant in Honolulu, known for its solid menu of meats, including kalbi for grilling and flavorful budachige available only during lunch. The restaurant offers faultless naengmyeon to cool off with and a good assortment of banchan. Located near the University of Hawaii, it's infamous for its Bulgogi & Octopus Soup hot pot dish that serves two. While KBBQ is provided, there's no A.Y.C.E option.
I visited here by one of my friends’ recommendation and it was the most amazing Korean bbq I’ve had in Oahu. The meat quality is comparable to the ones in Korea. The banchans are high quality and delicious. I highly recommend to anyone that wants a legit Korean bbq.

Had lunch here with family. I didn't get pictures of all the dishes with ordered. Just the hot stone pot bibimbap and all the sides. My family liked the mandoo soup, the miso one, and the purple rice one. We liked the combination plate too (it had bbq chicken, kalbi, and beef on a bed of onions on a hot plate). The sides were not bad. Nothing stood out as good or bad. Kim cheese was fresh, instead of sour (my preference), salad was sweet, japchae was okay. Restaurant is very cold. However, it was clean and had decent ventilation for people who wanted to cook. Ventilation is directly over each bbq area and is adjustable. Downside no matter what, your clothes will smell like bbq. The servers were patient and helpful. They were attentive and for two people running around with the number of people in the restaurant. It went smoothly. Note: The only thing that bothered me was the price of the lunch specials. Hot stone pot bibimbap cost difference between lunch and dinner was only $2.00. Looking online, size and content in both are the same. Lol apparently few other dishes were similar...so I suggest coming at lunch time, instead of dinner. You'll save a few dollars.

I got to try their beef combination stew and it was great. The broth was thick as boiled with the bone for a long period and it clearly showed by taste and feel. The service was very pleasant and efficient.

We were promptly treated and got our drinks quick, we ordered our food and the side dishes came out super fast. My husband loves their tradition kimchee, I loved their cucumber kimchee/salad, we both got second orders. My husband got the kal bi and I got the beef bulgogi, the kal bi was incredible. The beef bulgogi was also pretty good. We loved the fresh vegetables that were cooked with our food. Great service and great atmosphere.

We came to try this place for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised. There were two parties waiting ahead of us when we arrived but we got seated fairly quickly so that was really nice. This place was super busy. There was a great variety of parties eating here. We felt it was a bit pricey but all of us pretty much enjoyed our meal and we left happy. We were recommended a meat plate to share and we also ordered Bulgogi and a seafood pancake. The servers were very attentive and they turned over tables really quickly. Even still we didn't feel rushed at all I would recommend coming here if you're in the area. I think it's definitely worth a try

I was not expecting this place to be below 4.5 stars at time of writing. Sure, it isn’t all you can eat, but the banchan is all very tasty and the meats are great too. Their grill vents are great at capturing the smoke and smells. Service was good, our grill got changed often.
Robert E — Google review
We went for dinner, but from the very beginning the experience was chaotic and unpleasant. The side dishes, including rice, were placed all the way to the right side of the table even though the person was seated on the left. When setting the food, the staff placed everything in front of us in an inconvenient way, despite there being plenty of space. It might be understandable if someone was new, but the staff dropped food while serving, and when pouring water, it spilled into the side dishes. Even though they saw it, they didn’t replace them. The food itself was far too salty to enjoy. We asked for containers to take leftovers home, but even though our dish had broth, they gave us a basic lunchbox container that wasn’t suitable at all. On top of that, the service was extremely unfriendly. I sometimes like to take my parents out to enjoy a nice meal together, but after this experience, I don’t think we’ll ever return.
Jinnys P — Google review
A solid choice for delicous Korean yakiniku. The 2 person meal is my go to every time we come here. My wife and I can't eat all of it due to their generous portions. The photo shown is actually of what we had leftover. Side dishes are great and the staff is attentive. Comfortable seating for a casual dining experience.

Went here for some acai bowls, totally did not disappoint! The highlight was definitely the Ramen, super thick and tasty. Just the right amount of spice. Cacao Bowl was also my favorite! Try it out when you visit. Shout out to the staff too, best location!!

ALO at SALT is such a gem! The staff is incredibly warm, welcoming, and eager to serve. The interior of the café is thoughtfully decorated with the cutest bohemian-beachy style interior. The food at ALO is plant-focused with tons of flavorful, nourishing options. I highly recommend the Firecracker Tantan Ramen for a spicy, satisfying meal and the Sunrise Iced Tea for a refreshing drink. Theres seating indoors as well as a few little tables outside if you prefer to dine outdoors and soak up the vibe of the neighborhood. Definitely a go-to spot for a light feel-good meal! Highly recommend! We’ll be back!

The quality of the food is incredible: all organic, made from scratch, and the employees take the necessary time to prepare it properly rather than just churning it out. The recipes are incredible. My parents are obsessed with their açaí bowls! I love the ramen! The environment is also really lovely and very friendly staff.

We really wanted to love this as much as the five-star reviews that we now question indicated. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. There are kinks to work out. Service was very nice. Shoyu ramen was too salty and way over the top with onions. Very off. The breakfast wrap was okay but nothing special. Nice ginger drink.

Beautiful! Light, airy, beachy vibes! I’m staying in DT Honolulu from San Francisco & have been coming everyday for the latte with added Lion’s Mane & Cordyceps. Very good for focus. Also got a lot of editing video work done on the comfy couches, they have extension cord outlets for your laptop & phone. The music is very mellow & nice too. On the days there, the guy was very nice & offered me a cold water & a sample of coconut protein energy bites. I recommend.

My new favorite place to visit. It’s so inviting and calm when you first walk in and it’s one of the places I look forward to visiting during my work day. Han Yang Restaurant is a long-standing family-owned Korean eatery situated in Kalihi. It's a popular spot among locals for its affordable all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ and traditional dishes. One highly recommended dish is the chung gook jang, a healthy fermented soup served with rice and side dishes. The restaurant offers tight parking during peak hours, but off-peak visits are more manageable.
They brought us what we ordered first for all-you-can-eat. After that, we wanted to add a little bit of something else, all of them said, “finish your food first”. Not an agreeable experience! Besides, they offer very limited items for all-you-can-eat. Their meat is not tastefully marinated.

Long time family owned Korean Restaurant tucked in the corner of a strip mall across from Kikuya restaurant in Kalihi. Parking is tight during lunch and dinner but if you go off peak its not bad. Service is typical for a Korean restaurant, flag down the waitress if you need service. Most times i just order off the menu, but they do have the ayce option which isnt bad. My usuals consist of the 2 or 3 choice menu or if im hungry i get the Han Yang Special which has all the meats. Banchan is good, again you gotta flag em down if you want more or a refill on your water. The food and prices are what keeps bringing me back here, so if you expect more quality and service, town is where you want to go. 4 stars🤙

Modest place, nothing extravagant but delish! Everything we had was yummy and the service was great. if u finish ur ban chan and want more, they will bring. My fried squid was absolutely perfect from the tasty sauce to the proportion of squid to veggies. This could easily feed 2. The special my brother had was enjoyable and he ate the entire plate by himself. I will def come back for that squid!

This was our first time here and I must say...We really enjoyed ourselves! Even though we came during the Sunday dinner hour and waited a bit to be seated, we enjoyed our first time here. First, since it was busy hours all the auntys working were working hard on all the tables. The uncles cutting meat in front seated us once he saw us waiting patiently. Even the guys cleaning tables made sure we were helped. And of course the aunty to waited our table, had great energy [specially on a busy night]. So their customer service was good to us. The food...my husband order the "Kalbi KimChee stew" and I had "KimChee stone pot mixed rice" 🤤🤤 along with all their sides!!! The food was so ono, we will be making this spot a more often place for us. We live within walking distance of the resurant and look forward to Goin back. The food really hit the spot after a long week at work. ThankYou Han Yang Restaurant!!!

Han yang good its the mcdonalds of yakiniku to me decent meats and cuts pretty fast and ok service from the older Korean aunty's always the same 3 or 4 working and 1 of the 4 really nice the other ones kinda intimidating for ask for anything as they always look busy doing stuff with there head down and look grouchy bit they really not. Located at new diners kalihi . Price point wise 29.99 all you can eat meats, free bowls of rice and sides and seaweed soup bang for your buck gets the job done. Rather want something more quality with a hint of better customer service and better Banchan but not all you can eat hit up millions.
Laule'a R — Google review

first time went to this restaurant, very bad service, take a 29.99 all you can't eat, want to order more beef tongue, but they mad, also they will charge you 15% tips even they don't have any service, anyone see it don't go this restaurant, same price or even less price same food from other restaurant(Sik Do Rak, Gen Korean BBQ, Sura Hawaii) and get much better service. want to give no star, 1 star is the lowest i can give.
Zheng J — Google review
Always a great place to get good, authentic Korean food at reasonable prices. Service is good and the environment comfortable. It can get a little Smoky in there if multiple people are cooking their own yakiniku (you can either cook yourself or order off the menu and have standard table service). You may want to sit in the "table service" side instead of the yakiniku side of the restaurant if the smoke bothers you. I, myself, love the smell of good food cooking even if it gets a little Smoky. Meals come with the usual side dishes of Kimchi, Bean Sprouts, Cucumber, potato and a rotation of other prepared vegetables. Standard meals also come with a seaweed/fish soup (not included if you order a soup for your meal). Portions are generous and have lots of flavor. A little hard to find but a great "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant. Definitely worth finding this place.

This is Japan! Too bad they didn’t have marucho but they had shimacho (tecchan/ large intestant) and I was happy. Wish they had liver sashimi cuz I don’t know anywhere else where you can get those here. I loved the tongue with green onions with lemon juice, washugyu short ribs, harami, yukke (raw beef sashimi with egg yolk), uni and wagyu, the 3 sets of washugyu was great too. I’m from Japan and I like japanese yakiniku so I can guarantee that sizzle is authentic food and experience if you are looking for the same. Highly recommended!

**Title: Hidden Gem in Honolulu - Yakiniku Sizzle Review** I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yakiniku Sizzle, a hidden gem located just a 10-minute Uber ride from Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. This unassuming "hole in the wall" restaurant turned out to be a delightful surprise. **Reservation Recommended for a Reason** Upon arriving, I quickly realized why reservations are recommended at Yakiniku Sizzle. The place is cozy and intimate, with a limited number of tables. We were fortunate to find a few open tables not marked for reservations, but I would advise calling ahead to secure your spot, especially during peak dining hours. **A Local's Paradise** Yakiniku Sizzle seems to be a well-kept secret among locals, and it's easy to see why. The owner, who is incredibly friendly, made us feel right at home. What sets this place apart is the personalized attention he provides to each guest. He offered invaluable advice on how to prepare and cook each type of meat, including recommendations on cooking times and the perfect dipping sauces. **A Conversation with the Owner** After our meal, we had the privilege of speaking with the owner outside the restaurant. He encouraged us and anyone else who would listen to venture off the beaten tourist path to experience his culinary creations. His passion for his craft was evident, and it was heartwarming to see a local business owner so dedicated to sharing his love for food with others. **A Feast for the Senses** The highlight of our evening was undoubtedly the food. Yakiniku Sizzle offers a variety of cuts, but I highly recommend splurging on the Wagyu and premium options. The quality and taste were exceptional, making every bite a true delight. Don't miss the garlic fried rice; it's the perfect accompaniment to the grilled meats and bursting with flavor. **Fair Prices for Outstanding Quality** What truly impressed me about Yakiniku Sizzle was the affordability considering the quality of the dining experience. The prices were more than fair for the delicious meal we enjoyed, making it accessible to both locals and visitors alike. In summary, Yakiniku Sizzle is a must-visit for anyone in Honolulu who appreciates exceptional food, personalized service, and a cozy dining atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a curious tourist, make the trip to this hidden gem, and savor the flavors that only a local treasure like Yakiniku Sizzle can offer.

*Disclaimer: Does not have parking. You would have to park in the streets. One of the few places on island where you get to experience single person yakiniku on island. They serve delicious wagyu beef at a reasonable price. Ordering a “Yakiniku Set”, will come with a personal grill, which you can cook your meat to your personal liking. The “3 Choice Yakiniku Set” that was ordered came with 4 slices of beef tongue, 2 slices of Prime Short Rib, and 2 slices of Harami. At first glance the portion sized seemed small, but it was filling if you get a refill of rice and soup. $19.95 (without tax) was a reasonable price for delicious wagyu beef that comes with free rice and soup refills. As much as the free refills and meats were delicious, the only down side was the side dishes. Especially the kimchi and bean sprouts tasted stale. Overall this restaurant receives a 7.8 out of 10. A fresh side dish or better parking spots would definitely increase the rating of this place. This restaurant has other delicious looking dishes such as 1/2lb of “Wagyu Roast Beef Bowl” for $22.95 (without tax). A restaurant you might want to try out at least once to rate it for yourself.

Nice restaurant for the bbq evening! The service is great, and the menu is wide with a great selection of the high quality meat. We ordered Wagyu Sampler and Pork Belly, and it was enough meat for two. The bibimbap was tasty and served in stone pot.

First things first, the restaurant is no longer BYOB as they got a liquor license recently. Great selection of meats to grill! Interesting choices from US and Japan. You can't really go wrong trying different things. The sake dipping sauce was my favorite as it didn't mask the flavor of the beef. The hosting was great and the server (owner?) was giving helpful hints along the way.

The Brewseum is a one-of-a-kind destination in Honolulu that seamlessly blends the charm of a microbrewery with the rich history of World War II. This vibrant watering hole showcases an impressive collection of memorabilia, including model planes and even a vintage jeep, making it perfect for photo opportunities. Guests can enjoy a selection of craft beers on tap, alongside bottled options, all while munching on complimentary popcorn or indulging in tasty snacks like soft pretzels and pizzas.
I love the decor in this place. It is like walking into an aviation museum. There is an actual small museum next door. 6 beers on tap with a whole range of cans and bottles. Make sure you try their brews before you try the rest. Great place for photos as well. You can jump in the Jeep and props (helmets, sailor hats) are available as well. Food is available as well.

People who say the islands do not have a good brewery have obviously not been here! This is legit! If you are trying to find a beer that actually tastes like the style it was meant to be brewed in you will love this place! The place is super small in terms of Barrel Capacity which means your favorite beer will probably be gone in a week or two but you will find something else you like almost guaranteed! PS - The service was great as well

Awesome place to hang out with friends. Great service and reasonable prices for local brews. On Thursday they play Battleship Bingo and give out prizes when you are the first to sink a ship (battleship, cruiser, destroyer, submarine or aircraft carrier). Last man/woman standing that has at least one ship not sunk also gets a good prize. The MC for the bingo game made the game interesting and interactive 😎 Off the beaten path but well worth it. Go on Monday, Wednesday or Friday and take the museum tour!

This is a great place for a drink. But this is so much more than a speakeasy or a bar. This is a living and breathing museum. Beautiful and accurate artifacts

Such a solid spot! History buffs, cocktail lovers, and craft beer fans unite. There’s a little something for everyone. Part interactive WWII museum where they encourage you to pick up piece up, sit on and wear pieces of history, part speakeasy, part brewery. They also do battleship and trivia! It’s a must to check out- for locals and visitors alike. The individuals who run it, the Tomlinson’s, are such sweet people. Their love for the era and drive to keep this part of important world history alive is incredible. Go check it out- you won’t be disappointed l.

Absolutely the coolest place I've ever had a brew. Drop yourself into the 1940s and enjoy the ambiance. Attentive staff, unparalleled experience.

Good craft cocktails and friendly service. Off the beaten bath. Bartender worked hard and was knowledgeable. Worth supporting for the history of Pearl Harbor.

Korean barbecue restaurant
Yakiniku Jang Su, also known as Jang Su Jang, is a popular spot in Pearl City that offers Korean BBQ without an all-you-can-eat option. Locals rave about the Chitterlings Pot Stew and the Lunch Specials available from 11am to 4pm daily. Visitors praise the authentic Korean cuisine, including favorites like Kim Chi jiggae and kim chi Jun.
We accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant when we were looking for a Thai restaurant—good thing they were closed and decided to eat here. I’m glad we did. The lunch plate was good and their japchae was delicious.

It's authentic Korean food, but the waitress' service is rude. She tried to take away my plate when I wasn't finished and gave me a takeaway box. After I paid and had a drink at the table, she strongly told me to go elsewhere because I was done paying. If the restaurant was busy, I would understand, but there were many tables available even at lunchtime. If you want to have a leisurely meal, I don't recommend this restaurant.

I love the food here so much. In all honesty, if I could pick somewhere to eat for the rest of my life, it would be here. My favorites are the Kim Chi jiggae (kimchi stew), and the kim chi Jun (kimchi pancaje). I always get the same things when I come, because why change greatness?

We had cold noodles (Nang mien). Horrible experience. That was the worst in taste. It was shame on me to bring my Hawaiian friends to show Korean taste

I lived in Korea for six years. It’s hard to find that perfect beef and leaf joint you remember from your Sam gyup sal days in Korea, but this place can do it. #1. The staff is great. I enjoy seeing them every time I go. #2. They have the soju, the Korean beer, the makgeolli. #3 The BBQ is on point, the sides are delicious and the kimchi is always great. If someone doesn’t like this place, then they don’t like real Korean food. Plain and simple.

Upon arriving, you are greeted with a sign that says you've got 90 minutes before you have to leave. It wasn't busy, and at the 90 minute point they did let us know that it was time to go. Service was okay, food was okay as well. I stress okay, and not great. The restaurant was cluttered with chairs stacked up, boxes stacked up along the wall containing food supplies and soft drinks. One member of our group had steak which was plagued with gristle. The sushi was fine, nothing special, and my chicken dish was okay as well, again nothing special. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon but not ruling out a visit again in the future. I think if you were at the sushi bar it might be more enjoyable since it seemed more like a festive atmosphere.
