Bodies of Water
West Lake, also known as Ho Tay, is an urban freshwater lake with an 11-mile perimeter and a 6th-century pagoda in the middle. It's a popular spot for cycling, with bike rentals available for solo exploration around its 15km circumference. Along the way, visitors can stop at various cafes and restaurants offering unique experiences such as war bunker Block House cafe and coffee den Duy Tri.
Should visit around 5:30-6:30 PM in summer time, beautiful sunset view. Nothing today at day time.
Huyen L — Google review
My first destination to Hanoi, Vietnam was to Tran Quoc Pagoda, which we can see that its surrounded by the West Lake. Vendors can be seen selling all kinds of food and souvenir across the sidewalk before reaching the Pagoda. Its a beautiful sight, but due to unbearable heat, some of the fishes were dead and the whole place feels humid. Overall, it was an ok experience.
Carmen L — Google review
Nice lake for a long distance run. Most of the loop can be done right next to the lake with a nice breeze. About 15-16 km in total.
I D — Google review
This beautiful lake is located about 6 km from city center. After visiting oldest Buddhist temple Tran Quoc Pagoda in Hanoi, which is next to lake, we stopped here for some time. It's beautiful lake ideal for photo opportunity. Three were few few vendors around selling souvenirs. We had cold fresh coconut water which was very nice. Worth visiting for few minutes...

West Lake is a peaceful escape in the middle of Hanoi. The view is wide and beautiful, especially at sunset. Around the lake you can find cafés, temples, and quiet spots to relax. It’s perfect for a morning walk, cycling, or just enjoying the fresh air away from the busy streets of the Old Quarter.
Harry — Google review
My friend wanted me to see West Lake, so I went with him. It was such a cool place. It's peaceful and there are many cafes. You can also see some food shops as well. It's much better if you just want to chill out rather than go to the city centre which is bustling with tourists.

ride a bike around this lake was the most chilling thing i’ve ever done. If u go early in the morning, there would be not rl crowd and the scene, atmosphere was so great, the wind,..

Hoàn Kiếm Lake in Hanoi is steeped in legend and history. It's associated with the tale of Emperor Le Loi, who returned a magical sword to a Golden Turtle God after defeating invaders. The lake is home to the ancient Great-Grandfather Turtle and features remarkable architectural landmarks like the hundred-year-old Turtle Tower, Ngoc Son temple, and the vibrant red The Huc bridge.
A very nice outdoor area especially on Sunday as it was isolated from cars. People can walk and jog around the lake and in very nice weather. So lovely to see locals interacting with their loved ones.
Dian O — Google review
We visited this lake as part of a city tour. The stories told by our guide were certainly more interesting than the surrounding scenery and attractions. It's definitely a must-see if you're staying in Hanoi.
Sakban R — Google review
Located at the heart i.e old part of Hanoi near old quarters. In English it is known as lake of returned sword It’s one of the most famous tourist spot for visitors and hangout spot for locals The circumference of lake is paved for joggers. At evening lot of crowd gather at square near lake to enjoy the serene atmosphere with local music bands /individuals playing music. There are lot of vendors selling food to tourist No ticket required to visit here. There is a famous temple located at the islet in the lake reached via wooden bridge that lighted from evening. The lake is habitat to giant turtles ,few bodies of turtles are preserved and displayed in the temple. There is also a old tower at midst of lake. A must visit place in Hanoi.
Gaurav A — Google review
Loved our morning stroll along Hoan Kiem Lake just around the old quarters. Beautiful view, fresh air, and plenty of space to walk as the paths are wider than the streets that most are used to. Came across a few runners, countless walking, and numerous couples, families, and friends opting for photography with this beautiful lake. Can't blame them! There is a bridge that requires some sort of entry fee to receive access but today we simply soaked in the experience. Locals clearly love to gather around this place too. A temple at the centre of the lake is within view. The greenery and garden surrounding the lake is so well taken care of. Saw several locals watering and caring for it during our stroll.
Daniel L — Google review
Such a magic place to visit, perfect for a casual walk after a feed or even to get some exercise in. Seeing the locals exercise around the lake gives you a feeling of happiness and calm. It's truely beautiful ✨️❤️
JohnnieVintage — Google review
To have this lake in the middle of Hanoi is such a respite from the hustle bustle of the old quarters. It's breezy and calm, and seems to absorb all the frenzy within it. Love sitting by the lake on cloudy morning or breezy evenings and chewing away on my banh mi. Highly recommend to stay close the lake, preferably with lake facing views from hotels when visiting as a tourist.
Shreya K — Google review
This is a great site to go for a walk and see some of Hanoi. There are other sites nearby this lake, as well as a plethora of places to eat and drink.

Hoan Kiem Lake is the calm heart of Hanoi — a beautiful place to walk, relax, and enjoy the city’s atmosphere. Surrounded by trees, cafés, and local life, it’s especially charming in the evening when the lights reflect on the water. Peaceful, scenic, and a must-see in the Old Quarter.

The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long is a remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site that showcases Vietnam's rich history and architectural grandeur. Dating back to the 11th century, this complex features stunning buildings and sculptures, including an impressive tower and a stone dragon. Visitors can explore the remnants of Hanoi's imperial dynasties, including a fascinating bunker used by North Vietnam’s military during the Vietnam War, complete with historical maps and communication booths.
The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in Hanoi is a fascinating historical site that offers a deep look into Vietnam’s imperial past. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the citadel has stood as a political and cultural center for over a thousand years. Visitors can explore ancient gates, archeological remains, and restored halls that showcase the layers of history from different dynasties, most notably the Ly, Tran, and Le periods. The complex is not only architecturally impressive but also rich in symbolism, reflecting the evolution of Vietnamese culture and governance. Highlights include the Doan Mon Gate, the Flag Tower of Hanoi, and the underground wartime headquarters used during the 20th century. The citadel’s expansive grounds make it a peaceful place to walk, offering a balance of heritage, gardens, and archaeological displays. For photographers, the site presents endless opportunities: weathered walls, ancient stone pathways, traditional gates, and the striking contrast between historic structures and modern Hanoi in the background. The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon when the light is softer, adding depth and atmosphere to the ruins and gardens. Overall, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long is a must-visit for history lovers and photographers alike, offering both cultural insight and unique visual inspiration.
Paul P — Google review
A very peaceful historical site with many monuments and beautiful views. There weren’t many tourists, so we were able to fully enjoy the area, explore all the buildings, and even visit the underground bunker. Definitely worth seeing for anyone interested in history and unique architecture, offering both a quiet atmosphere and fascinating sights that make it a memorable experience. .
Radek V — Google review
Honestly, when I think of the many incredible UNESCO World Heritage sites in Asia, this was something of a disappointment. I understand it's cultural importance and archaeological value but it isn't getting very much care and attention. I kid you not when I say that it's a rubbish dump in one corner and a great many of the buildings are in a state of considerable disrepair. I would happily pay more to enter in order that they spend some money on upkeep. Also the garden in front is basically a stage for sports, concerts and events with a stage completely blocking the view of the principle building. It definitely has atmosphere, some interesting artifacts and great history but I am not convinced they are doing it justice.....
Guy B — Google review
Fascinating place with so much history. Between the photos of “then and now” you can see the old majesty of the citadel. As others have said it appears much of the archaeological site is in much need of funding but well worth the visit. Ensure you see the bunkers as well. An eye into a much more recent past.
Mattie C — Google review
The Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long is a truly extraordinary and unmissable UNESCO World Heritage Site that forms the spiritual and political heart of Hanoi. This vast complex offers a fascinating journey through over a thousand years of Vietnamese history, with layers of culture from the Lý, Trần, and Lê Dynasties all in one place. Walking through the magnificent Đoan Môn (Main Gate) and admiring the ancient Hanoi Flag Tower is a powerful experience, making you feel the grandeur of the imperial past. However, the site's real strength lies in its blend of history, from the 11th-century foundations and the famous Stone Dragon Steps of the Kinh Thiên Palace, to the D67 Revolutionary House and Bunker used by the Vietnamese military leadership during the war. The atmosphere is peaceful and offers a wonderful escape from the city noise. I highly recommend taking the time to explore the archaeological excavation site across the street to fully appreciate the depth and complexity of this incredible historical landmark. It is a profoundly moving and educational visit!
Anujith V — Google review
This is one of the must see for those history buff and loves old architecture and green space. Else, avoid this place as it might bored you after taking pictures. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and served as the political heart of Vietnam for nearly 13 consecutive centuries. A lot 2-3 hours to be able to enjoy the whole complex. Bring water and food bites in case you feel thirsty and hungry. Admission fee as follows: a. Adults: 70,000 VND (~2.66USD) b. Children under 16: Free admission
Mostly C — Google review
Though not huge the Imperial Citadel is good to explore. Most of the buildings have been restored, though the North Gate and the Flag Tower are still original. The North Gate is a nice place for people watching; locals come here to do photoshoots with flowers. The bunkers that were used during Vietnamwar give additional historic value. Local schools come to the citadel for day trips. The kids might ask you to do a short interview to practice their English. I thoroughly enjoyed that. I visited here on a weekday and it wasn't too busy. Even though entry is ticketed (100.000 VND), this doesn't seem to be ensured too strictly (as in: you could easily walk past the entry gate without buying a ticket). Also please be aware of a scam that specifically is targeting tourists. I was approached by a man asking me where I came from. I'd considered that he was part of the school trip. First he asked me to fill a questionnaire. Then he indicated he was collecting donations for the Red Cross, even showing me a (fake) badge. He showed me a notebook with all previous donations. It showed big amounts, like $20, €40, 500.000 VND. He proceeded asking a donation from me too. I just gave a small amount (50.000 VND) though he tried to get more. Then he quickly buzzed off and I realized I was scammed. Please be aware of this scam.

Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum is a significant historical site and tourist attraction in Vietnam. It holds the embalmed remains of Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese leader, and offers insights into his life and the country's liberation process under his leadership. Visitors are encouraged to explore Ba Dinh Square, where Vietnam's First Independence Day was celebrated, as well as other nearby attractions such as Ho Chi Minh Museum, House on Stilts, Presidential Palace, and One Pillar Pagoda.
Visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a truly meaningful and memorable experience for anyone traveling to Hanoi. Located in Ba Dinh Square, this place is not only a famous tourist attraction but also a sacred historical site where people come to pay respect to President Ho Chi Minh – the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people. The architecture of the mausoleum is solemn and impressive, built with grey stone and inspired by traditional Vietnamese and Soviet styles. The atmosphere around the square is calm and respectful. When entering the mausoleum, everything is kept quiet and orderly. Security is tight but polite, and visitors are expected to dress modestly and behave respectfully. Inside, visitors have the opportunity to see President Ho Chi Minh’s embalmed body preserved in a glass case. It’s a powerful moment – not just for Vietnamese, but for foreigners too – to witness the lasting legacy of a man who played such a vital role in Vietnam’s history. One thing to note is that the mausoleum is only open in the mornings and closed on Mondays and Fridays, so planning ahead is necessary. There may be a queue, especially during holidays, but the line moves quite efficiently.
Trần H — Google review
A fascinating and respectful place to visit. The complex is well maintained and the atmosphere is calm and dignified. The queue was long but moved quickly, and the guards were very professional. It took around two hours in total, including security checks and walking through the site. It was quite hot and humid, so bring water and dress comfortably. A meaningful and highly recommended experience to learn about an important part of Vietnam’s history.
F S — Google review
Beautiful grounds with the palace and mausoleum. We went right when it opened at 7:30 and there were no crowds. It was easier to appreciate the grandness of it all without tons of your groups. Much of the grounds are blocked off, but guards were friendly and made it clear where to go.
Leslie M — Google review
I'm Anthony, and these are my kneecaps. I was allowed in. My shorts were just touching the tops of my kneecaps. I asked the guard if it was a bit higher, then demonstrated to him, would I be let in? He said no. The security is strict at the metal detector. Ba Dinh Square itself is free to visit. The Ho Chi Minh Museum and the Stilt House area are an additional charge. Viewing the HCM mausoleum from the outside is free. There was a very nice volunteer tour orginazation giving free tours. Definitely recommend reaching out to them.
Anthony G — Google review
I so loved the deep culture of this place and respect the Vietnamese people give to their first president. He is often known as an Uncle too in every Vietnamese family. Good place to visit and see once when at Vietnam
Simon M — Google review
Visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum — a truly respectful and historical site in Hanoi. Entry is *free of charge*, and no tickets are required. The atmosphere is calm and well-organized, with clear security procedures. It’s a must-visit to understand Vietnam’s history and pay respects to their beloved leader. Dress modestly and arrive early as it can get crowded.
Chun — Google review
Nice place to visit - well laid out wide avenues with the parliament building, ministry of defence and then main attraction - the mausoleum are very good. I believe parade happens here on special occasions like independence day and other special national events day. That must be a grand spectacle!
Nandagopal D — Google review
Awesome place to learn and appreciate the impact and contribution of Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam. It is a large complex so be prepared to walk. Note that security is super strict - dress modestly, keep phones in your bags during security check, follow the line, no taking of pictures inside the mausoleum.

Hoa Lo Prison, often referred to as the Hanoi Hilton, stands as a poignant reminder of Vietnam's tumultuous past. This historic site primarily served as a detention center for American POWs during the Vietnam War, including notable figures like Senator John McCain. Today, only the gatehouse remains and has been transformed into a museum that offers insights into its storied history.
I visited Hoa Lo Prison in Hanoi and paid 50,000 VND for the entrance. I didn’t get the audio guide since many of the exhibits already have clear explanations in English. It was very interesting to see and learn about the history of the prison and what life was like for both Vietnamese and American prisoners. The displays are well organized and give a deep look into an important part of Vietnam’s past. Definitely worth visiting if you enjoy history.
Lydia C — Google review
Stepping into Hoa Lo Prison was like walking back in time. The dark cells, heavy doors, and detailed exhibits created a somber atmosphere that really conveyed the weight of its history. The information throughout was clear and engaging, making the stories of the past feel vivid and real. It wasn’t crowded during my visit, so I could wander quietly and reflect, spending about an hour inside. The entry fee was very reasonable for such a powerful experience. With half the site outdoors and little air conditioning inside, the heat added to the intensity of the visit. A haunting yet unforgettable stop in Hanoi.

Nice place. You will get to see the history of the prison, the way they showcasing the history with the realistic statues will make you feel standing there back then. Well preserved and details written everywhere. Even without the audio guide also you will understand everything.
Birupakshya P — Google review
Definitely worth a visit if you want to learn about Vietnam’s history during the French occupation and the Vietnam War. The displays are eye opening and tell the story really well. It is sad to see how prisoners were kept shackled before execution, but it gives real perspective on what they went through. A powerful place to visit and highly recommended.

HOA LO (HANOI HILTON) prison will be of great interest for anyone who has taken the time to research Vietnam's history, and it's struggles with transient foreign powers. The setting underlines the incredible will power of the Vietnamese people to endure inhuman treatment at the hands of external aggressor's. In recent years the prison was synonymous for detaining American pilots, downed during 'missions'. The facility is well visited by the local citizens and tourists alike. There are audible guides freely available which allow you to comfortably solo guide through the setting. The venue is well maintained, very informative and th staff are helpful. What more can you ask for.
Philly B — Google review
Situated in the city and easy to reach from the old quarters. Only a small portion of the original facility remained. Lots of exhibits showing the history and condition of the prisoners and we were able to walk into the cells as well. Worth a visit if you have never visited a prison.

A powerful and emotional museum that tells the story of Vietnam’s turbulent past. Hoa Lo Prison offers well-curated exhibits, strong visuals, and detailed explanations that help you understand the realities faced by prisoners. A sobering but important visit — highly recommended if you want to learn more about Hanoi’s history.

Very very interesting and informative, definitely a must see if you’re visiting Hanoi. Also the gift shop here has very cheap prices for souvenirs! I regret not buying souvenirs there because I found the same items sold for more expensive at markets.

Hanoi Food Culture Restaurant & Cooking Class is a popular spot for both locals and tourists seeking authentic Hanoi flavors. The menu features traditional dishes like spring rolls and sticky rice, served in a setting that blends ancient and modern elements. Embracing the city's vibrant street food culture, the restaurant offers a comfortable dining experience with street food-inspired dishes. Guests can enjoy a cozy atmosphere with exposed brick walls and wooden roof beams while being served by friendly staff who provide great food recommendations.
Our first dinner here in Hanoi. And did we come to the right place! The facade of the place was easily recognisable, and I lost track of time trying to get a shot of it. Inside, the ambience was welcoming and warm. Despite being in a relatively large group of 14, we were all treated very warmly by our assigned waiter Quang, who answered our many questions and abode by our weird food restrictions and requests. The food here was absolutely amazing. We started with Vietnamese spring rolls - crunchy skin with succulent filling and fragrant pork meat. There’s also green papaya salad, refreshingly appetising. For veg, we had mushroom brinjal, spiced with basil - it went perfectly with fluffy white rice. And stir fried bak choy that was prepared so simply, showcasing the ultimate freshness of the raw ingredients. Topped it off with teriyaki chicken and roasted fish, we really couldn’t decide which dish we liked best. We then wrapped everything up with a cut of fresh fruits. I am glad we stopped by this little gem in an otherwise unassuming corner of Hanoi. And I recommend you to do the same! Many thanks to Quang for our lovely evening 😁

Was recommended the honey grilled chicken which was quite underwhelming and did not feel very traditional. The Nem Lui was good and we were able to get extra veges, noodles and rice paper. The crazy pho cocktail was good however, lychee martini would not be recommended. Did not find this place authentic and was quite disappointed. Service was good however - Trang.

Exceptional cooking class with Chef Trang today. She took us to the market to select the ingredients for the 3 dishes we prepared: green mango salad with tiger prawns, vegetarian spring rolls and grilled land fish. Chef Trang is an excellent instructor and the class was fun, informative and well paced. We loved our delicious lunch after too. Highly recommend everyone try this memorable experience! Much better than the cooking class we had in Vancouver Canada before we came!

So peaceful! Food, desserts, cocktails were really good. Ambience is great. Trang, our server, was very kind and accommodating 💛 Our favorites were the apple crumble dessert, and the lemon grass chicken!

A Perfect Hanoi Dining Experience! Hanoi Food Culture is a delightful hidden gem in the Old Quarter with a tranquil, beautiful atmosphere. The food was absolutely exceptional! We highly recommend the Vietnamese Spring Rolls—perfectly crispy and flavorful—and the Grilled Chicken with Ginger Honey Sauce, which was incredibly tender and rich. What truly elevated our evening was the service, especially from our server, Lily. She was attentive, kind, and professional, making sure our entire visit was flawless. A must-try spot for great food and fantastic staff!

Bùi Viện Street, often called the “backpacker street” of Saigon, is one of those places that never really sleeps. Located in the heart of District 1, it’s a chaotic mix of neon lights, loud music, and a constant stream of both locals and travelers. If you’re looking for energy, this street delivers it in full force. The moment you step in, you’re greeted by rows of bars, pubs, restaurants, and street food vendors, each trying to pull you in with drink deals, live music, and the promise of a fun night. It’s the kind of place where you can start with a cheap beer at a roadside stool, then end up in a rooftop bar or dancing at a club until morning. That being said, Bùi Viện isn’t for everyone. The noise, crowds, and occasional rowdiness can be overwhelming, especially on weekends when the street is packed shoulder-to-shoulder. It’s best enjoyed if you come with the right mindset: open to a little chaos, willing to meet people from all around the world, and ready to soak in the wild atmosphere. Love it or hate it, Bùi Viện Street is an unforgettable part of Saigon nightlife—a must-visit at least once for the experience.

Bach Ma Temple, located in the heart of Hanoi's Old Quarter, is an ancient temple with a rich history. Originally founded in 1010 during the Ly dynasty, it was reconstructed in the 18th and 19th centuries. The temple is known for its unassuming exterior that belies the historical treasures within. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a statue of a white horse, symbolizing the legendary creature that guided Emperor Ly Thai To to this sacred site.
Historical records indicate that although the temple has been renovated many times, it has stood in this location for nearly 1,000 years. There have been numerous fires and bombings during wartime, yet the temple remains unharmed. When you step through the gate of the temple, it feels as though you are entering a different dimension, untouched by the hustle and bustle of the city's busiest area, the Old Quarter.

One of the four guarding temples of Thang Long, that were built in four directions of the citadel to protect the capital from malevolent spirits. Bach Ma temple nestled in the center of the old quarter and protects the east of the capital. One theory is that the temple was built in the 9th century and named Long Do Temple, to pay tribute to Long Do - an ancient deity that made a huge contribution to the country. It was renamed to Bach Ma Temple by King Ly Thai To. Another theory is that the temple was built by King Ly Thai To after the capital was relocated from Hoa Lu to Thang Long in 1010.

Hanoi Old Quarter is a historic trading district with narrow lanes, a night market, and traditional tube houses. The Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Centre offers interactive displays and exhibitions showcasing the city's evolution from a small trading port in 1010AD. Nearby Hoan Kiem Lake provides a peaceful escape with Ngoc Son Temple on its northern edge. Residents practice tai chi by the lake in the mornings, and on weekends, there's a funfair vibe due to traffic bans.
We stayed in the Hanoi Old Quarter and it was nothing short of amazing! We experienced the people, culture and atmosphere of the Old Quarter. Walking through the busy streets was both exhilarating and quite the adventure navigating people, cars and motorcycles. It was a rush! The people are friendly, kind and welcoming and some became like family. I HIGHLY recommend staying at a hotel in the Old Quarter and experiencing it for yourself.
Jon H — Google review
Hanoi Old Quarter is a lively and fascinating part of the city filled with history, culture, and endless energy. The narrow streets are packed with shops, cafes, and street food vendors, making it a great place to explore on foot. It can get crowded and noisy, but that’s part of its charm. The mix of old architecture and modern life gives it a unique atmosphere that really captures the spirit of Hanoi.
Lydia C — Google review
Grounding experience to visit the old quarters and get a peak into a blend of the old and new in Hanoi. Vibrant streets, bustling with mopeds, and people going about their work. Flocks of people enjoying a meal and beer together. Lots of small plastic stools signature of the area. Just a pleasure to walk through these lanes and discover every nook and corner. You see what you seek!
Shreya K — Google review
Hanoi Old Quarter is a must visit, or even better, a must stay if you’re traveling to Hanoi for the first time. Its narrow, bustling streets filled with cafés, hotels, souvenir shops, and all kinds of local stores will amaze you and make you feel like you’ve stepped into another world. The Old Quarter is still home to many locals, so you’ll see people going about their daily routines alongside curious travelers. At night, the area becomes even livelier, busier, and full of energy; an experience you definitely shouldn’t miss.
Duran N — Google review
Hanoi's Old Quarter is not merely a place; it's a full-blown sensory experience. From the moment you step into its labyrinthine network of streets, you are plunged into a whirlwind of activity that feels both ancient and ceaselessly modern. It is, without a doubt, the historical and cultural heart of the city, and an experience no visitor should miss. Historically, the Old Quarter was a bustling centre of commerce, famously composed of 36 streets, each dedicated to a specific craft or trade—Hang Bac for silver, Hang Gai for silk, Hang Quat for fans, and so on. While the specialisations have blurred over time, this centuries-old layout remains, creating a fascinating maze to explore. The architecture itself is a story, with narrow, deep "tube houses" squeezed together, their façades a captivating mix of traditional Vietnamese design and fading French colonial elegance. The true pulse of the Old Quarter, however, is its street life. This is where Hanoi truly lives and breathes. The pavements are a non-stop parade of commerce and daily life. Motorbikes, laden with everything from passengers to precarious towers of goods, weave through pedestrians with an instinctual grace that is both terrifying and mesmerising to the uninitiated. Food is, perhaps, the district's crowning glory. The Old Quarter is a street food paradise. Forget fine dining; the best meals are served from bubbling pots on the pavement, enjoyed on diminutive plastic stools. A steaming bowl of phở for breakfast, the smoky, sizzling delight of bún chả for lunch, a crusty bánh mì on the go, and, of course, the decadently rich cà phê trứng (egg coffee) in a hidden-away café. Every corner offers a new aroma, a new flavour to discover. By day, the streets are a blur of shoppers haggling in dong-packed markets and tourists navigating the wonderful chaos. By night, the area transforms. The famous Ta Hien, or "Beer Street," becomes a throng of locals and travellers alike, spilling out from bars onto the road, sharing cheap, refreshing bia hơi (draught beer) and plates of fried snacks. Nearby, the serene Hoan Kiem Lake offers a beautiful, illuminated contrast, with the iconic red Huc Bridge leading to the Ngoc Son Temple—a perfect spot for a quiet evening stroll. A word of warning: the Old Quarter is not for the faint of heart. It is noisy, it is crowded, and the constant flow of traffic can be overwhelming. Crossing the road is an art form in itself (the trick is to walk slowly and confidently, allowing the traffic to flow around you). But this chaos is precisely where its charm lies. The Old Quarter is not a sanitised museum piece; it is a living, breathing, brilliantly hectic neighbourhood. It’s a place where you can find exquisite silk, sip world-class coffee, and eat one of the best meals of your life, all within a few square metres. For the traveller seeking authenticity, energy, and a true taste of Hanoi, the Old Quarter is, quite simply, essential.
Grant R — Google review
Hanoi Old Quarter is vibrant, chaotic, and full of charm. Narrow streets, endless cafés, local shops, street food stalls, and buzzing energy at every corner. It’s the best place to feel the real pulse of Hanoi — lively, colorful, and unforgettable. A must-visit area if you want the full cultural experience.
Tiberiu I — Google review
Lots ok walking, very traditional and old fashion. Street food abundance. Gold shops, pawn shops and a small market alley look and feel the culture.
Darren N — Google review
It’s a typical night market like the ones I've seen in Thailand or Vietnam—very lively. They hardly sell any food here (for food, head to the beer street right next to it). You’ll mostly find souvenirs, clothes, shoes, and accessories. *opens on the weekend only

The Hanoi Emerald Waters Hotel & Spa is a 4-star hotel with modern rooms and a spa. It's located close to attractions such as the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre, Beer Corner, and the Revolution Museum. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, making for a great stay.
My friend and I had such a wonderful stay here, almost entirely due to the amazing staff. From the moment we arrived, we were met with such friendly and warm energy, greeted with smiles every time we walked through the lobby. What truly set this hotel apart was their attentiveness. My friend had her arm in a cast, and the team was exceptionally mindful of her needs, offering assistance without us even having to ask. A special mention must go to Lucas. He facilitated our check-in with seamless efficiency, and went above and beyond by highlighting a map of the vicinity and providing us with a fantastic, personalized list of food recommendations. His presence made our trip so much easier. He was also there to help us with our luggage during check-out, which felt like a lovely, full-circle moment. We were genuinely sad to leave. This team doesn't just run a hotel; they create a welcoming and caring environment. We can't wait to return!

I had an amazing stay at Hotel Emerald Hanoi! Everything was just perfect — the location, service, room, and food were all excellent. But what truly makes this hotel stand out is the incredible staff. Their attentiveness, kindness, and those small, caring touches really make a difference. Big shout-out to Tracy, Kim, and the rest of the front desk team (sorry I don’t remember all the names) — every single one of them was helpful, polite, and always smiling. I’ve stayed at several hotels across Vietnam, but honestly, none come close to the warmth and hospitality I felt here. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Hanoi — you won’t be disappointed!

Visited Hanoi from 18th to 22nd October 2025 and I had a wonderful time at the hotel! The staff were amazing and really friendly towards us! They would always greet us with smiles and help us to open the door whenever we want to exit or leave the hotel! As much as possible, they also tried their best to accede to our request whenever possible. The location of the hotel is really good. It's in a centralised location and you can easily access tourist spots. There are many massage parlours, coffee houses and food options nearby too. There's a pharmacy and convenience store within the area too. Overall, I had a great stay and would recommend anyone visiting Hanoi to book their accoms here!

Our stay at the Hanoi Emerald Waters Hotel and Spa was nothing short of perfect. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty. The hotel itself is beautiful, with comfortable, clean rooms and a fantastic location right in the heart of the Old Quarter, making it easy to explore everything. The spa was a wonderful escape after a long day of walking. What truly made our stay exceptional, however, was the staff. I have to give a special mention to Kim and Lucas at reception. They were incredibly helpful, always greeting us with a warm smile. They went above and beyond to help us book tours, recommend the most amazing local restaurants, and assist with all our questions. Their professionalism and genuine kindness really stood out. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. If you're looking for outstanding service and a perfect base to explore Hanoi, look no further!

We stayed here for 2 nights. We were greeted by a grumpy, middle aged concierge. When he brought our bags to our room, we didn’t tip him because of his attitude. He seemed upset and ignored us for the rest of our time there even though we tried to say hello. The rooms are spacious. The lights are difficult to work out and don’t make sense based on their location to the lights themselves. The bed is hard. The pillows are soft. I like it the other way around. The shower was blocked so the water leaked all over the floor.

Recently stayed at The Ann and the staff were wonderful. Always helpful, friendly. Please go see Ba in the cocktail bar, drinks were sensational as well as his service! 30min walk to the old quarter, flat but in the humidity it felt like an hour... The only negative was the bath/shower. Yes it's a shower in a bath, we knew that when we booked but it's tiny and the hot water would not come through the bath taps. Just a heads up if your a bath person.

I stayed here on a business trip and booked a single deluxe room for its great location — right in the Old Quarter but pleasantly quiet. It’s within easy walking distance (10–30 minutes) of major attractions. To my surprise, the hotel upgraded me to a premium apartment suite, which was an incredible bonus. The suite felt like a mini luxury home — beautifully designed, with a cozy living area, compact kitchen, and thoughtful touches like a coffee machine, washing machine, and dishwasher. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom featured both a bathtub and a walk-in shower, plus an automatic toilet — a real highlight. Everything was spotless and well maintained, and the staff were polite, professional, and genuinely friendly. Overall, a wonderful stay that far exceeded my expectations.

Extended stay hotel
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Hanoi's Old Quarter, Little Charm Hanoi Hostel is a trendy haven for travelers seeking comfort and style. This hostel features simple yet tastefully furnished dorms, complete with amenities like complimentary Wi-Fi, lockers, and additional bathrooms to enhance your stay. Guests can unwind after exploring the city in the indoor pool or lush garden area. The on-site Italian restaurant adds a delightful culinary touch to your experience, while the 24-hour reception ensures assistance whenever needed.
Stayed here for 4 nights in total during my Vietnam trip. Very clean, staff are friendly, rooms a decent size with big lockers and hooks to hang stuff up on. Laundry service was good. Friendly staff and nice/welcoming atmosphere in communal areas. Will definitely stay again next time I'm in Hanoi.

Great hostel. The beds are big and comfortable(feels like a hotel room really), very very clean and a lot of storage space. Toilets are also nice and clean. I wouldn’t recommend it for partying, but more for a nice quiet place.

I stayed at Little Charm Hanoi Hostel for three nights and had a good experience overall. The staff were wonderful and the hostel itself is very nice with a full restaurant. Unfortunately they didn’t have many vegan food options and the included breakfast had no vegan choices. Another downside is that there is no place to refill drinking water, only bottled water for sale at 10,000 VND for small and 15,000 VND for large. They do offer laundry service for a fee which is convenient. Other than the breakfast and water issue, I have no complaints and enjoyed my stay.

The room price is excellent for me and I highly recommend Little Charm Hostel. The location is convenient and it's right inside a restaurant. Their staff is strict for those who want to check in early, but luggage storage is allowed. There is a 200k VND deposit if you don't want to give up your passport. I was surprised that there is a working indoor pool! They offer basic shower amenities, hot water, towels, a locker and key pass, and comfortable beds. The toilet has a bidet and the rooms have good air conditioning. The only disappointment I had was the rude short-haired woman at the check-out counter. She yelled at me when I didn't understand her at first. It's very awkward after that. I mean, if you have personal problems, I suggest to just leave them at home and stay professional at work.

I stayed here for three nights and it is a great, quiet little hostel with staff who are always willing to help you. The breakfast they offer in the mornings was convenient as well. Well-maintained, safe and clean and I really liked the firm beds (very good for your back). Plenty of storage and your room key card opens up your locker which I found was pretty cool. Only cons are the bathrooms and common areas can be get a bit hot, I also wish they’d put the bathroom hooks on the back of the door in the shower stalls. The lounge area is also a bit small but overall, not major issues for me. Highly recommend staying here. Excellent value for money and very conveniently located in the Old Quarter.

Hanoi Aria Central Hotel & Spa offers a no-frills stay with simple, down-to-earth rooms and essential amenities like 24-hour front desk service, complimentary bottled water, tea, and fruit upon arrival. The hotel provides a variety of private room options to accommodate different needs. Guests appreciate the helpful and friendly staff as well as the efficient air conditioning. While some maintenance may be needed in certain rooms, the overall value for the price is considered worthwhile.
We were switching accommodations late at night and came across this hotel. Even though we booked around midnight and wanted to come straight away, they responded super quickly and let us check in right away. We got a room without a window - which we knew in advance - but I’d probably recommend choosing one with a window if you want some fresh air. We were still happy with ours, but we stayed only for 3 nights. The rooms were really clean, with tea and coffee provided every day, and the shower was great. The staff were incredibly sweet - super helpful and kind to us throughout our stay. The location is pretty good, lot of things around, and it’s within walking distance to the central. Thank you for a nice stay! 🫰🏻

Very comfortable room at a reasonable price. Everything was clean and well laid out. It was nice to have a comfortable bed, as most hotel beds in SE Asia tend to be on the harder side. The service at the front desk was exceptional. Very friendly, helpful and professional, particularly Quynh.

A wonderful hotel with very polite staff. I have never seen such service anywhere in Vietnam. The girl at the reception was incredibly polite, helpful and smiled the most beautiful smile. When I did not leave the room for a long time, they just brought me snacks and fruits for me to eat, it was free. When I left, the whole hotel saw me off and helped call a taxi. I am very glad that I chose this hotel!

The staff were very friendly, especially the female manager, who was incredibly helpful. The other staff were also very humble. The room wasn't particularly clean, probably because it's an older building, but it was still within reasonable price range. The noise wasn't too bad, and the location was convenient, with easy access to the train street. Laundry service was also available, so you could drop it off in the morning and pick it up in the evening. The price was 50,000 VND for two nights. Thank you for a wonderful trip to Hanoi!

We booked this accommodation because it is 5 minutes walk from Hanoi Train station, close to Halal restaurant (D’Lions restaurant), and old quarter (15 minutes walk). We booked a family room which located at 7th floor. I prayed hard that nothing will happen 😂. 7th floor for family is really insane. The room is quite spacious for 3 adults & 2 kids. I think there were few furnitures that are not required such as the sofa because the area a bit limited to place your luggages. The accommodation is very kind. They gave us a plastic bags contains mineral water, bread, and fruit. We got it for 2 days as we stayed for 2 nights. We were really sad that we can’t eat the bread as it is non-halal. We just took mineral water & fruit. They also helped to bring our luggages to the room while we go out strolling the old town (waited for 2 PM check-in). The staffs are very friendly and helpful. The women staffs can speak English quite well while the men staffs only can understand English but can’t speak back. I think the only downfall of this accommodation is the cleanliness. The toilet is slippery. The room is quite dusty. I was sneezing whenever returning to the room. Yes I’m allergic to dust. Hence, sneeze. I even get unwell after returning back to my hometown. If you plan to stay in a short period with affordable price, you may consider this accommodation.

The station is just one stop away from Hanoi Main Station and offers a 15-minute ride for Vnd 25k per person.
Famous railway station near the infamous long bien bridge! The atmosphere in here is nice but if you want to get a greater look at the bridge itself - i'd recommend you to find a Serein place nearby! I love the raw urban atmosphere there!

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel! The room was clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out. All the amenities were fully provided, the Wi-Fi was strong, and the breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices. The location is convenient and easy to access nearby attractions. I will definitely come back and recommend this place to my friends and family. Truly deserving of 5 stars!

We had a room with a window on the top floor, room 401. The room was clean, towels changed every day and also water and tea and coffee replenished. The reception staff were friendly, Mrs Mai and Ms My. We had breakfast one day with nice omelette. The WiFi sometimes cuts out for a while. The Aircon worked well. Great location and we could leave our bags once we had checked out and collect them later. Mrs Mai also arranged an airport transfer for us. Id recommend this hotel but check and book a room with a window if possible.
Rachel A — Google review
We booked 3 nights in the hotel When we arrived in the morning, the receptionists took pictures of our passports, put our luggage in storage and told us to come back at 14:00 while they arranging our rooms. When we came back, they told us they overbooked our room. Their alternatives where not good and they left us hanging with no place to stay.

This is a small hotel situated in the Old Quarter, right among the hustle and bustle of this busy area. Given the relatively low cost of the room, we think it is great value. Our room, with balcony, was lovely, had effective AC and a straightforward breakfast was included. Perhaps the highlight of the stay has been Miss Mai. She has advised upon and arranged tours for us which have been great fun, safe, and good value. She can arrange so much for you and is very conscientious about the weather and how it might affect your plans.
Nigel J — Google review
Bad management, extremely rude - a lady with short hair. Only the staff Mai and another guy was nice and hospitable. Breakfast was below average though you can order food like omelette and scrambled eggs which were fine. Location is good not too loud and busy yet still couple of shops in the area within 1, 2 mins walk.
Nathan D — Google review
I have travelled a lot and have stayed in different hotels around the world. My room was average. No elevator. I had to ask and pay the bell man to carry my 20 Kg suitcase up to the 4th floor.
Zohreh N — Google review
We just spend one day at this place, the bed it was not really comfortable, when we arrived we did not have hot water but the lovely girl on the reception came to help us and it works after couple of minutes (she was really efficient). The breakfast wasn't bad, but the Eggs Benedict are not eggs Benedict, the miss the sauce and the persil that they propose, so little disappointed. But they have fruit options that are good. I just need to remark the service of the young girl at the reception she was really lovely and sweet.
Jonathan E — Google review
Honestly our overall experience was seriously affected by the staff’s attitude. The older woman at reception was extremely rude and dismissive, making us feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived. We also ran into an issue before taking our night bus: we asked to use a courtesy shower, which is common in many hotels, but instead they charged us $5 for a dirty, smelly bathroom. The shower was far from clean, and the bathroom had an unpleasant odor. We also had a very uncomfortable situation where some of our belongings went missing. When we asked, the staff lied to our faces, insisting they hadn’t taken them, which was both frustrating and upsetting. Unfortunately, this poor service and lack of basic hospitality completely overshadowed the hotel’s otherwise decent qualities. We cannot recommend this place and would suggest looking for other options in Hanoi, where you can find friendlier staff and better treatment for a similar or even lower price.

One of my worst hotel experience of my life. First of all when I arrived after 22 hours travelling the room, the shower was fully dirty. Then 1st night the receptionist was insulting my girlfriend. Both nights there was some constant strange noice from the corridor at night which didn’t let me rest at all. Second night I fall asleep at 5:30am because of that. We were back to room at 12:30am ready to sleep. 2nd night I had a food delivery the same receptionist was swearing to me why he has to wake up at open the door (I dont know why they close it btw) and after all that they offered me the last day an airport ride as an apology. I asked it if it was free after all these miseries, they said no and I got a same offer as a grab taxi. So I refused to take it. Stay away from this hotel, dont believe the high ratings

The Diamond King Hotel & Restaurant is a convenient choice for travelers looking to explore top attractions, shopping, dining, and nightlife. The rooms are equipped with modern amenities such as air conditioning and wireless internet. Guests can also request laundry service during their stay. While some guests found the room comfortable and clean, others noted minor issues like stains in the shower and weak air conditioning. However, the staff received praise for being friendly and helpful, offering valuable advice on local dining options and sightseeing.
We stayed for three nights and had a pleasant experience without any issues. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of most tourist attractions in the Old Quarter. Note that the elevator only operates from the second floor upwards, and our room was on the second floor. The staff were attentive and kindly assisted us with our luggage.

We had a generally good stay at the hotel. The staff were excellent—friendly, helpful, and attentive throughout our visit. The room itself (Junior Suite) was clean, spacious, and had its own balcony, which was a nice touch. The location is very convenient, with a great spa nearby, making it easy to relax after exploring the city. That said, being in the heart of Hanoi, the street noise is part of the city’s charm and energy—you can really feel the essence of Hanoi right from your room. While this is acceptable and adds to the local atmosphere, it did make it hard to take quiet afternoon naps. The main issue was the hallway noise; unfortunately, the door didn’t filter out sound well, and we were woken up several times at night by other guests being rowdy in the corridor. We had to call reception to address this, and they kindly assisted right away. Overall, it was still a good experience, with excellent service, clean and comfortable rooms, and a prime location. Just something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper.

Me n family very enjoy staying there. we had very good sleep and easy access going every where in old quarter area. You can try "May De Cuisine" with Michelin Star guide just 40 mtr away in-front of the Hotel, walk about 200 mtr to the right, there is Giang coffee for the famous egg coffe /coconut coffee, and 200 mtr away to the left from hotel you will find the hottest & crowded alley for clubbing, have fun n dancing all night long. They spoke great English. They arranged airport pick up for us too and transport to our next destination. The beds were comfortable and clean. Our room was serviced while we were there and tidied up nicely. This is the old quarter so it can get noisy at night which is no fault to the hotel. We used ear plugs for one night but didn’t need them for the second night. Great massage place across the road which we got 10 percent off through the hotel. Beautiful Christmas decorated foyer and a lovely porter who opened the door for us everything and took our bags to our room. Get what you pay for - good on a budget, if you can afford another $10 i would go elsewhere. We stayed 4 nights, they were able to extend after one member of our party was sick which was nice! The location is great, close to cathedral and the “times square” water puppet show etc. Hotel does laundry which is nice and can just pay when you check out. AC was strong, room was larger than others in area. Cons: The bed was horrible!!!ended up asking for extra pillows and sleeping on top of those. Have had to get 2 massages to fix the kink in the hip from sleeping like this. The safe didn’t work, we asked to get it fixed they never did. The towels and the bedding (if you get some that don’t smell try not to get it changed) smelled so strongly of smoking we had to get the towels changed out a few times because it was making us feel sick. Staff were kind and helpful. Lots of good food close by :)

We having the family room for 3pax, room size is spacious but the toilet seat is next to the shower glass which are so compact if your body size is bigger then the seat you might need to squeeze in and out after settle your business. There’s a lift in the building so no worries to big luggage but the hotel is at the narrow alley so taxi can’t reach in front of the hotel and may need to walk about 100m, there’s many shops along the way. There’s construction (Mid Mar 2025) next two buildings so when you walk into the hotel you may need to pass by them first cause this is the only entrance to the hotel.

Location of the hotel is tricky ,you have to walk inside the narrow streets to find out as it’s located in the corner . Services are good. Staff is helpful in every aspects. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. If you are looking for some nice views around the hotel then this place is not for you, as it’s located in the central part of the city. The best thing about the hotel location is that the famous places are just walking distance like st. Cathedrals church, Night market, old quarter, Ho Chi Minh muesoleum, train street, temple of literature. The market is also just 10 min walking distance from the hotel. You can get various shopping and local food options around the hotel. Overall it was a good experience.

The hotel is a little old with all the basic needs. The bathtub is old and worn out, and the room is quite spacious. Location is prime, but be aware that if you are coming with a heavy/big trolley bag, the alley is so small that no taxi can go in. You have to drag in for about 100m. Breakfast is ok. Overall, it was a good stay with lots of eateries just within 100-300 meters.
Namcham T — Google review
Very okayish hotel. Rooms need some maintenance. Breakfast is very basic, if not to say poor. Location is great because the hotel is right in the center. At the same time it's not accessible by cars and you need to carry your luggage for 130 m through narrow and dirty street.

Great budget hotel. We spent 3 nights here and for the price we paid it was really a good choice. The room was ok, maybe slightly dirty but nothing too much disturbing. Good position close to city center and St Joseph cathedral, but it was still a very quiet area. The employees were kind and helped us with our questions. Good laundry service. I will recommend this place if you don’t want to spend too much.

O'Gallery Premier Hotel & Spa, located near Hanoi's iconic Saint Josephs cathedral, offers a dramatic and sophisticated ambiance in its rooms with dark wood decor, moody lighting, and touches of royal blue and green. The hotel attracts both stylish holidaymakers and business travelers who appreciate the private terraces in the rooms and the restaurant serving delectable dishes like mango salad and barbecued pork shoulder. The front desk can assist guests in arranging tours to Halong Bay or Sapa.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was great value for the price and was centrally located in the heart of Old Quarter. The rooms were very spacious and clean. We enjoyed the breakfast options, especially the made to order dishes. It was easy to walk around the area. The rooms can get a little loud as people enter/leave the adjacent rooms, but it does not happen frequently. We enjoyed our stay here and thought it was well worth the money. I would stay here again and recommend this place to others.

I stayed here a few weeks ago but forgot to write a review. But here I am because it's worth commending the team at the hotel. Check-in was fast and friendly, the staff (shirt haired girl) was very welcoming and helpful, and the hotel gives a sheet with travel tips, which is a really nice touch. All throughout my stay all the staff were friendly and went out of their way to help with anything. That day there were rehearsals for the parade, and a guest who was checking out couldn't get a taxi due to road closures. I overheard one staff saying that he will take his motorbike and drive the guest to another area where he can find a taxi. This is above and beyond any service I've witnessed at five star hotels.

This is one such hotel that we will definitely come back and stay for any number of days. The staff is super friendly and funny. They will help you through everything you required during the stay. The food is really amazing especially their breakfast buffet with a lot of options. We even tried their spa and it was really good. Their service is 10/10 and no complains.

BOOK HERE NOW! We loved our stay here. Its perfect for a quick night in the city! The staff went above and beyond, letting us check in early and use the spa showers. We caught caught a stomach bug back in Thailand, they brought us fresh ginger tea and beef pho broth, and even let me take breakfast upstairs to my wife. Truly amazing service! Our Premium King Suite had a cute little balcony, comfy bed, and was spotless. The location is ideal close to shopping, great food, and Train Street, with a Circle K right across the street. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were kind, attentive, and professional. We’ll definitely be back!

Our stay at Hanoi was seamless & amazing because of the top notch hospitality received at the hotel. The staffs were helpful, polite & warm. The property is very aesthetically appealing, rooms are cozy & comfortable & the location is almost at the heart of all the bustling places that you have in Hanoi. Look no further if you want a warm & welcoming experience of home outside your home.

The highest praise!!! We stayed a total of five nights at this wonderful hotel at the beginning and end of our trip to Vietnam. We loved this hotel and the staff. Thank you to everyone, the reception staff, the bellboys, the breakfast staff, the cleaning ladies and the spa staff. (We had 8 spa treatments between the two of us, which is not like us at all… they were all amazing… enchanting… wonderful!) The location is perfect and we walke our feet of exploring the old quarter. Though in the beginning I was disappointed not having a street view, I realized that very first night that the quiet of room with a neighbour view was much much better! When we returned to the hotel after travelling about the country we wanted just such a room again. (We had in fact booked another hotel in a different part of town… but we cancelled and came back here) The breakfast was magnificent! My wife and I have very tastes and we both looked forward to the breakfast as there was such great choice. We hope to return to Hanoi and this is the only hotel we would stay! Thank you to all the people who make it a memorable place to stay.

We were delighted with our stay at this gorgeous boutique hotel in the heart of Hanoi. Our room was fabulous particularly as we were upgraded to the very spacious family suite. The staff were attentive and helpful making good suggestions about places to eat and to visit. The breakfasts were sensational, particularly the quiches which were dainty and delicious. The coffee was superb and plentiful. We were appreciative of the generous and authentic care for every aspect of our stay at the hotel and with the excursions. The overall experience was 5 star for their reasonable rates. We would highly recommend staying at this hotel as the location, service, decor and price were very very good. I have been to over 20 countries. This hotel is so far the best. You wouldn't believe how sweet those staffs are unless you come to this one. The breakfast was perfect with French, English, Thai and Vietnamese style food. All you can order for free. ~ so delicious and those lovely staffs! Thank you, guys. I will go back again~ room is big and the bed is super nice.

This hotel is just fabulous! Rooms are big, clean and very nicely decorated, breakfast is good with a big and tasty variety of both vietnamese and western dishes, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is very good as well- in the old city, very near the lake, and still quite as there are double windows. Would definitely recommend and come back anytime.

Great boutique hotel right in the heart of old Hanoi quarter. Excellent staff, very good breakfast, very competitive night rate, and cosy, well appointed room with large balcony overlooking the picturesque street below. A bit more lighting in the bathroom (too dark) would do good and earn this place a full 5 stars rating. Highly recommended.

Staff are excellent Rooms can differ in quality level 10 was awesome. Breakfast is off the hook. 20 min walk to the old quarter so pretty close to all the shopping hotspots Really nice restaurants only 2min walk from hotel.

Nice location, a bit of a walk to the downtown - like 25-30 min to the famous train street. The stuff speaks great English and everyone is BEYOND friendly, from the receptionist to the sweetest boy ever who was opening door for us. The rooms are tiny, but pretty clean. The breakfast is weaker, would expect a bit more there but overall good stay :)

Me, my wife, my father and my mother, stayed here for a reason of fulfilling the condition of Australian Government of leaving the country for three business days, to grant 173 visa, that was applied eight years ago, and we have booked the travel, from my father’s sister’s daughter-in-law’s workmate in Military Hospital, who is a X-Ray technician and her physiotherapist workmate’s husband is a travel agent, earlier my mother’s sister’s son’s gym mate, who is a travel agent, booked the travel for us with this travel agent. It was a good experience and also the food was good, as well and reception was helpful.
HARMEETPAL B — Google review
Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was a letdown. The bathroom was a major issue - it had a persistent, unpleasant odor that made it uncomfortable to use. To make matters worse, I faced water problems early in the morning, which added to the frustration. Given these unacceptable conditions, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. In fact, I would say it's the worst hotel in town.

Its a nice place to stay specially because of the location. All the main areas, train street and beer street very near near to the place almost walkable. The staff is very polite and gentle and very cooperative.

Great hotel however little distant from local market. Breakfast is amazing and the rooms are very maintained. Staff is very cordial and friendly.
Pravin D — Google review
Location is good in the Old Quarter but everything else leaves something to be desired. The rooms are small and tired. We had a leak into our bathroom which was fixed the following day. Our children's room permanently smelled of drains. The breakfast was distinctly average. We were there as part of a tour group, but if you can choose and can afford more than this place then I'd strongly suggest you do so!

Tonkin Homestay is a budget-friendly and uniquely decorated accommodation located in a quieter area of Hanoi. The homestay offers amenities such as air conditioning, washing facilities, and a great balcony. Guests can enjoy the lively neighborhood with plenty of coffee spots nearby. The spacious rooms come with various amenities including a small balcony and ensuite bathroom. Visitors praise the caring host who provides local insights and assistance with bookings. Overall, it's described as a hidden gem offering warmth and authenticity in Hanoi.
Home sweet home! The perfect place to stay in Hanoi. Hong and her husband really went the extra mile to make me feel looked after and cared for, especially when I had back pain. Hong often prepared fruit, hot drinks or soups for me when I left my room and took the time to have a conversation with me. She's such a warm-hearted, kind and wonderful person! As a solo traveller staying here made Hanoi feel more like a home than some strange city. The room was excellent too: so much character, beautiful collectables and paintings. Lastly, the neighbourhood is also great: it feels much more authentic Vietnamese and real than the Old Quarter, which has so many tourists and is quite commercialised - don't be put off that Tonkin Homestay is not in the centre. It has great food spots and shops nearby. Make sure to try Phở Gà Bà Lộc ( Phở gà 18 ) right infront of her house. Lastly, my flight got cancelled and Hong sorted me with a last minute room, which was really kind.

The place is sooo beautiful. The decoration is amazing and super cool. But by far the best thing about the place is Hong, the owner. She’s incredibly kind, a great person, helpful, and respectful. She helped us with everything, all the time. She gave us recommendations on where to go, made us free coffee and tea, and was always there to help with any problem. She’s awesome. I 100% recommend this place.

Highly recommend staying here. Very hospitable and helpful hosts. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Everything you could need and want on your travels is within walking distance or taxis are available too. Tom makes a delicious beef pho and Janet has the best ice coffee to get you started in the morning.

A great homestay. The owner is so sweet and helpful. She organised a taxi to the airport for me. The location is close walking distance to the main attractions and away from the busy/loud centre. The room is super spacious and everything was very clean and tidy. Really loved my time here.

What a charming place! Hong is the most welcoming host you could imagine. She stayed up til 2am for my arrival and made me tea and fruit. She constantly brought food and drinks to my room and sat with me both mornings for a lovely chat over breakfast. The decor is very eclectic and homey.

We had an amazing stay. Stayed longer than planned and celebrated Tet together. Hong and her husband are super nice people. Room was very clean and big and also the toilet. It was a bit cold outside and we were given extra blanket even if we weren't cold in the room. I'm surprised for the bad reviews in Google. Does not look like the same place.

After 6 weeks cycling from Ho-chi-minh to Hanoi - this was our last of many stops. It was the best!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I cant praise the family enough, they are wonderful, caring, attentive, generous. They create such a wonderful environment and this is without even mentioning how great a house it is, super cool and interesting, feels like home.
