The pho itself is actually pretty good — comforting and flavorful — though personally, I didn’t find it to be mind-blowingly special. Still, it hits the spot if you’re looking for a classic bowl. They give you the option of choosing the beef doneness — either cooked or half-cooked. I went with the half-cooked one, and the beef was very tender and juicy, which I liked a lot. Pro tip: add some quẩy (Vietnamese fried dough sticks) on the side — they soak up the broth nicely and make the experience a bit more fun. It’s also conveniently located near Hoan Kiem Lake, so it’s an easy stop while exploring the Old Quarter area

It was a good pho!! I am very like it! The broth is so delicious. And you should try pairing your pho with the breadsticks / dough fritters (just dip the breadsticks / dough fritters in pho broth for few seconds). The price is also very reasonable. But the atmosphere / seating area is not a comfy one. You might get your seat at the alley or in someone else house.

The crowd is a mix of tourists and locals. They have a few locations throughout the old-quarters. I would highly recommend to check this place out if you’re ever in Hanoi. The noodle textures were also really good. The service is nothing to rave about as it’s a very casual spot. The prices are very affordable.

No matter what time it is - there’s always a queue! Luckily it goes down pretty quickly. Before trying you must know that the north of Vietnam are known for their light, delicate & traditional flavours, emphasising in clear broths, whereas in the south their food is bolder, spicier & sweeter with a wide variety of fusion dishes. Now it explains why we thought the food in Hanoi was quite plain & “healthy”, was still tasty but totally explains it now! This was a decent bowl of pho but definitely on the lighter side which I appreciate. A super simple & clean broth, barely even a drop of oil. Comforting & homely

The lines go pretty quickly and the food is amazing a very reasonably priced (~70k per plate). You have to be open to the experience though. Most tables are shared, you will often see people blowing their noses or coughing (maybe because of the chillies), and nearly everything (cutlery, napkins, chilli sauce, chilli slices, lime slices) are all there on the table (probably the same across the day(s)). Food come very quickly but don’t expect a full smiling waiter. They are very efficiency-focused and in less than 5 min you should get your meal. I take this as a street food style of experience, which I personally enjoy. But if you are looking for some more restaurant like experiences (own table, more space between guests, a full menu available) this is not the place.

One of many absolutely fantastic Phõ restaurants in this beautiful, romantic, exciting, noisy, and charming City of Hanoi. The broth is mind-bogglingly scrumptious, the meat tender and juicy, the hot sauce is hot, and the garlic is yummy, order some breadsticks/donuts and you have the meal of your life for less than $3. 👏🫰👏

I really wanted to like it, but i had better. Pho flavor was a but bland, meat was (very!) gummy. To be fair though, they are super efficient, despite the constant queue, waiting time is quite short. If you still decide to go, get ready to share tables (which i liked actually)

It is an unassuming stall in an small alley. But the pho bo is highly recommended to be the best from the hotel staff. I went and not disappointed at all. The price is not expensive by local standard. Gone twice to try their different beef for the experience.

Their Pho Bo is so gooood!!!! We had this for breakfast during a rainy morning and it felt like a warm hug in the soul. Their broth and beef slices are more savory than the others we've tried. October 2025: I am a Level 7 contributor (> 400 reviews) on Google and regularly review eateries to provide an unbiased opinion. I decided to check out this restaurant for breakfast. I ordered the pho tai chin (rare and cooked beef) and a serve of fried doughnut. The seating is opposite the cooking area. The broth was amazing. What stood out was the generous portion of beef. In terms of size, this dish is half of the portion typically served in Melbourne but costs a fifth of the price. The fried doughnut was a great add on. This pho is absolutely incredible, no joke the best I’ve had in my life. The beef is tender, the broth has incredible depths of flavor. The additional pickled garlic, chili sauce, fish sauce and Chinese doughnut additions elevate the dish to more epic proportions. Don’t miss out!

A small, family-run restaurant (now by a third generation). It offers only one item: Phở soup. You can also order dough sticks with the soup (I recommend them!). I've tried Phở at several places in Hanoi, and I think this soup was the best. I've visited this place several times. The restaurant only has a few tables, but you can usually find a seat. The restaurant is very popular with locals. It definitely has its own atmosphere: it's reminiscent of old Hanoi.

Best late night pho in the area. Delicious, beef and big bowl here. The broth is healing. Perfect for pho any time of day, especially the late night ones after a few drinks. An outstanding bowl of beef phở! Generously garnished with fresh coriander, spring onion and sweet shallot stalks, every element was well-balanced and fragrant. The broth was light yet deeply flavorful — not overwhelming, just comforting and refined. The beef quality was exceptional — almost wagyu-like in tenderness and taste. We arrived just before the lunch rush, so it was a calm and comfortable experience. Only later did we realize this gem is listed in the 2024 Michelin Guide — and it absolutely deserves the recognition

Best bowl of pho I had in Hanoi. Real beefy flavour from the broth and all the little additions to flavour it to your heart's content. A little more expensive than some of the other offerings but with it imo and you can choose between quite a few different cuts of beef.

First try Pho in Vietnam. I ordered rare beef Pho. It was quite tasty. You can also have some options to add some flavors to it with hot chill, garlic vinegar or salt and peppers on the table. The owner’s family is incredibly kind and welcoming to tourists. When they heard me order in Vietnamese, they were so delighted! Every time I visit, they even treat me to iced tea. Before going to Vietnam, I thought that the best food I could try there was pho. In this resto, the pho was probably like the third best thing out of four menu items lol. This place is not a tourist trap type of area. It looks to be one where locals frequent it for their regular day to day meals. There were only four meals that they offered: bun thang, pho, chicken pho, and mushroom chicken rice. They include a free bowl of fried dough which pairs well with the soup meals. The best meal of the bunch though? It wasn't the soup meals LOL it was the mushroom chicken rice. Dont get me wrong, they were all good, the rice meal just stood above the rest. Great place to go to for a filling meal. I think we should have ordered one less meal, cause we were super full right after. Budget? Around $2/50000 dong per person. That's 200k dong for a family of four! Would recommend.

Great family run spot, tucked away from the busy Hanoi streets. We had the Xoi Ga Nam which was very flavourful, paired with Quay which dipped in the soup tasted awesome. Staff was very friendly and even gave us a free ice tea at the end.

Found down a little back street so alot less crowded than many other spots I came across. They do a few things and do them very well, with a focus on chicken. Most likely something people have not come across outside of Vietnam so definitely worth a detour.

Such an amazing family owned restaurant that’s been making Bún Thang (a Hanoian specialty noodle) for generations! The noodle is complex and delicious and you can tell they put in great care and detail to make the bowl absolutely unforgettable. Pro tip: add a soft poached egg to the bowl They also sell xôi which is sticky rice with chicken mushroom, also super worth trying! Highly recommend you come here!!

This was my first time eating chicken pho and it was so yummy! I wolfed it down in under 3 minutes and it was just 50,000 VND. This was my second pho in Vietnam on the first day here. I came back for my last meal in Hanoi before going to the airport. I had just 40,000 VND left in cash and they let me eat at a reduced price given my situation! I will forever remember the kindness of the grandma who said it was okay to eat!

Just 3 long tables with seats on both sides. Limited sittings. Initially shop front impression wasnt something to shout about. Its's the broth! Pho (noodle) basically same everywhere but the clear chicken soup is the master piece! If you have already tried beef noodle Pho Bo, Bum cha (pork noodle dip), banh mi (sandwich), definitely can come and try this Pho Ga (Chicken Noodle). 50k VND per bowl, clearly stated.

I had a great time at this spot. You are literally sitting outsides the streets of Vietnam on those small plastic chairs eating local food while looking at bikes pass by. What's more Anthony Bourdain food adventures than that. The pho was very refreshing, the broth impeccable, the beef very tender (not softened with bicarbonate of soda). The atmosphere was also amazing, I think I got a discount on my condense milk coffee but the grannies spoke in their language so I just smiled everything off and said 'thank you' as they gave me some of my money back.

Got here at 9am and they were sold out of the French stew beef. Luckily the owner's son in law was there and helped us to order and the owner put in whatever was left for us to taste! He was very helpful and friendly as it was our first time and told us the history of the shop. The owner was also very friendly and kind to first timers. Very nice broth and tasty meat but I prefer softer noodles. Very good value for money and a nice local spot to try. The orange juice and lime tea were also very refreshing, highly recommend.

Sooooooo GOOD, I came back TWICE. The food, both Pho and Sot Vang are amazing. I had both on two separate days and they are just perfect. You don’t have to add any extra condiments but they are there if you want them. If you don’t know what to order, just let them make you a bowl. Trust me, you won’t regret it. This probably the best Pho and it is as good as it gets here in Ha Noi. Extremely authentic and good vibe. Best time to come is EARLY. Again, please come EARLY. I came around 9:30 AM on my first day in Ha Noi and they were closing down for the day. She opens at 3 AM and she says she mostly feed the locals who go to work early in the morning. Service, this is probably why she is so well loved by both locals and tourists. She treats you like you are family. She reminds me of my mom or a sweet auntie who just LOVES to feed you. Amazing amazing amazing. She started from the bottom (as a street vendor with no store front) and now we’re here (store front with tables inside for sitting.) This lady is super sweet. My friend took a photo with her about 3 years ago and she saw the photo and gave us extra pho broth (the special one that is red and braised with the special meat) for everyone!!!! This place is open from 3am to when they sell out (around 9am) so I do recommend coming after drinking in the wee hours of the morning OR coming when you wake up jetlagged at 5am. One or the other or else you won’t make it. I recommend get the special combo.

Poor customer service neither the good noodle. There is a menu with the price on the wall for locals?? but I was forced by the owner to order a beef pho only with more expensive than the menu price for the same noodle. She flicked the menu for me and I assumed it’s for foreigners or visitors only to rip off. The noodle tastes under average. I would not recommend at all.

One of the traditional Pho in Hanoi now open 24/7, free car park. My father had experienced this since long time ago, recommend for all his customer and friends traveling to Hanoi. In the morning you can have Pho and try green tea at Tuan Che next to it. The price is reasonable and located near to the Old town street, must try in Hanoi.

Good beef pho with nicely cooked noodles and a clear broth. We liked the dough breadsticks as well and ordered it twice. If you don’t like cilantro, chances are that you would still need to scoop out some smaller bits that are mixed with the spring onion. There is only one option on the menu (for us at least) but that was not an issue. The staff could not speak English but Google Translate and communication with your hands will bring you a long way. It was a bit odd at first when we entered and didn’t know how and where to order the food, but we just waited in front of them and eventually it worked out.

Upon arrival in Hanoi, this is where we had our first meal for the entire trip which sort of set the bar high for any Pho that we had afterwards. The beef was very tender and tasty whilst the broth was very rich and fresh. There is really no words to describe the culinary experience when it is your first time to taste an authentic Pho at a local restaurant in Hanoi, Vietnam. Service was also quite fast and pretty decent. Overall, it was an authentic and amazing experience.

The best pho I had in Hanoi — even though they didn’t understand English! 😆 No worries though. You just point at the pho, make the ✌️ sign ( for 2 bowls) , and your pho will be served to u soon! I like their broth!

🍲 🍖 🧂 Salty pho! It’s super tasty, saltier than the normal pho, but also has big chunks of meat. This place has pho in the morning then changes to an amazing bun cha place for lunch.

This was a charming spot, but it was a bit hit or miss. I'm not 100% what a "good" bun cha should be, but the texture of the pork was a bit plasticky? The flavor was excellent, the char was excellent, the soup and noodles that went with this were also incredible. It was quite cool to see how they were cooking the meat right there next to the train tracks/under the bridge. I probably wouldn't come back as there's likely other bun cha that I would be just as happy to have that has better seating and a cleaner location, but still happy that I got to try it!

Overall - 8.2/10 - Went for bun cha left with pho, can't say I'm upset 🤷 Food Quality - 8.4/10 - We paid 110,000/pp for beef pho and really enjoyed it. I'm sure you can get better but it's a good option if you are in the area. Atmosphere - 7/10 - Sitting in the street might make the food taste better? Value for Money - 7/10 - Seems to be a pretty standard price.

No idea why it's called pho man but the bun cha there is awesome. Bun cha is grilled pork with rice noodles. I was introduced by my Airbnb host and its the best grilled pork I have had. The soup that comes with the grilled pork is tasty, though I have no idea what soup it is. There's like carrot and radish slices in the soup and a truckload of vege on a plate. I have no idea how much it costs for locals but I was charged 55k VND for bun cha and a cup of iced tea.

Bánh phở (noodle) is good, beef cut is excellent, hành (onion) is excellent, The soup is indeed salty with me, but it is what made the name of this store. Quick service, friendly staff.

Our all time favorite pho shop in Hanoi - Best taste in town, specially for beef-shank lovers. One thing to note: This is "Pho Man" ("Salty Pho"), so if you prefer moderate seasoning, this will not be good choice. But no worry, salty does not mean it's just all about salt. We’ve been in Hanoi a day and this is the best food spot for Pho if you want genuine food. When you go there it’s so unsuspecting because you’re inside people’s homes but don’t let that detour you. Signal to the woman working there how many you want. If the room is full you’ll have to wait but maybe expect to sit with other people and enjoy your meal with the locals. Remember to take your shoes off too! Be warned if it’s a hot day you’ll be warm in there but embrace it. You’ll be served the most authentic beef pho you will ever have. The broth is so clear but also full of flavour from the first spoonful to the last. The beef is sliced very thinly so I was cooked all the way through and was very tender. I like pho this was because it’s minimal in ingredients and really can taste each ingredient cooked well. They definitely made a few bowls in of Pho before. It is served with fried dough which is seen around the place. The condiments on the table are chili vinegar and then a chili/oil sauce. The Pho is gluten free my partner is gluten intolerant and she will eat here every day pretty much. The fried dough is not gluten free Pay in cash and you won’t pay as much as you would in other places. We paid $80,000vnd for 2 bowls!!

This was my first and most memorable meal in Hanoi. Never really liked Pho so I rarely eat it in my country (SG) but this was so freaking good. This must be what a loving grandma hug would have felt like. Warmed the cockles of my heart, super super comforting. It was mind blowing because it looked like a very simple dish with just a few ingredients but somehow the flavours of everything together just made it so incredibly delicious. The setting itself, being so humble and hidden, made the entire experience authentic. I felt like I was eating in someone’s house (I probably was, with the tv on my left and a bed on my right).

I visited during my 4th trip to Vietnam after being recommend this pho by a friend who I have give full faith in for food recommendations. Ive had a lot of pho with each trip I’ve made to Vietnam and I live in Hong Kong which also has loads of great spots of Vietnamese food. Having tried many a pho in my life, this pho was undoubtably the best pho I’ve had in my life. I went by myself in the late afternoon, I had the room to myself. I sat down and the food came - no need to order as there is just one thing (the world’s best pho). I ate so mindfully in this special space. Everything about this experience was full of care and love.

It’s the best way to sneak into traditional Vietnamese old city apartment without breaking in 😅 them serving an excellent Pho for very reasonable price. Them actually should rise a cost because it’s worth to pay. For me this is more like an a little experience to learn more about Hanoi and people

The secret hidden GEM inside the deep alley up the stairs. When I got up and caught eyes with a bunch of Polish group, we exchanged eye messages we universally agreed that we knew THE secret. This is EXACTLY how authentic Pho should be. Beat the Michelin star ones for 10 times. I ate two bowls. Might come back everyday 👀 3:30pm to 7pm.

This was a fun dining experience. First, walk through the little alleyway between two shops and you will see white stairs on your right. At the top of the stairs to your left is the kitchen, we went in to tell an aunty we’d like two bowls of beef pho. Then to your right you will see some shoes. Take your shoes off and enter what looks like a dining room. At 40k VND per bowl with a side of fried dough sticks, this was a well valued and delicious meal. Our table briefly had condiments like garlic vinegar and chilli sauce, but that was taken away before I had the chance to use them. It was busy after 7pm. People would come and go swiftly but we noticed the room was very quiet in general. There were more tourists than locals during our time there.

For 40k, the warmth of the location and the overall taste is fantastic. The reason that this pho is different from others is because it is the original Hanoi style that comes with fried “Quay”. I’m thoroughly embarrassed that I had not broken my large notes into small change, yet the blessed old ladies laughed it off and gave me a 3k discount.

Amazing Buncha at this place very close to museum they had extra condiments so you can add the spice level or different flavors and also nice fans and shelter to keep me cool after walking throughout the day. Great service by Dong too!

Stunning food amazing quality and hygene the vermisili look dry but its not, the soup not hot but thats the twist i think since its quite hot in the country the soup have sweet and a bit sour taste that very refreshing the staff also quite helpfull , put the languange barrier aside would be amazing if have some initiative but over all i will definitely comeback especially for the corn tea (somehow can taste the sweetness of pinaple also but cant confirm since i cant ask them :') )

An exceptionally awful tourist trap. I ended up here by accident, following one of the guides. The meat wasn’t grilled, just reheated in a microwave. In the teapots with chrysanthemum tea, there were leftovers of already sour tea at the bottom. Even the garlic had gone bad. The noodles weren’t cut for convenience and were simply dumped in as one big lump. The whole thing was served by two unsmiling staff glued to their phones. Overall, it’s better to look for a more authentic place, where at least the ingredients will be fresh.

I was just looking for a spot to cool off and grab a drink, but the menu definitely made change my mind. I grabbed a plate of Bun Cha and it was a terrific first experience for me! The staff is quick, polite, and responsive. Definitely give them a visit. 👍🏾👍🏾

Really good pho. The menu is in Vietnamese, and the staff speaks very little English, so not sure what else they have but the pho is amazing. We stayed the area so we came three different times. Service is very quick and the staff is friendly.

The special pho is loaded with different types of beef, together with delicious soup makes a very satisfying meal. They put free rice on each table, which you can add to pho soup after you eat all the noodles.

Everything I need from a Pho place is here. Very comfortable seating, condiments, good lighting, spacious enough for a group and good visuals from a glass walled prepping area. The price is same as the restaurants I find from the streets and alleys. If you prioritize comfortable seating, come here.

Worth the visit! It was really busy when we got there, but soon realised it was busy with locals which was a good sign! 40k for a bowl ( almost $3 AUD) perfect representation of North Vietnamese Pho. Don’t be overwhelmed with the atmosphere, help yourself by taking a seat if there’s any available and once you’re ready to order let the waiter know. The cold rice on the table is complementary, they eat cold rice with their pho (it’s not leftover rice from someone else) This place also offers hot pot!

Pho Bo Nam Bo is an amazing dish ever invented. The fried beef , lots of vege, pickled papaya, peanuts. Gives you complex texture and great umami charred taste. I would like to think the "frying" should be longer and a bit more seasoning for better taste. Still recommends it.

A great spot to try the beef noodle salad; fresh, tasty, and well put together. But sitting indoors kind of took away from the vibe. I wish they’d kept the setup a bit more authentic, maybe with some outdoor seating or that street-style feel. It would’ve made the whole experience way better.

We had the noodles with beef, and it was amazing! It’s one of the few places around that’s clean, inviting, and comfortable. The flavor was incredible. It felt like a local experience but VIP hahaha.

This beef noodle salad was honestly the best I’ve ever had! I love this dish in general, so when I found this place I was super excited to try it and it did not disappoint. Had my first meal in Hanoi here as I saw those shrimps cake that I had in Danang. It’s a bunch of various fried local food and some freshly rolled beef rolls. Prices and the place is very local but food is good and I’ve since dine here a few times plus take away (shrimp cakes). Place is really local so don’t expect absolute cleanliness. They give you a menu with the price and a piece of paper and pen for you to write down your order and you give it to them. Afterwards they return you that paper and you keep that to tally your total order and bill. Service can be lacking, as it’s a popular (with the locals and some foreigners) and busy place but just remind them and you can get your food.

Had a late lunch here while on a walking tour of local street food. Convenient central location with street seating. Busy so we sat inside up the back as a group of four. Sampled a range of dishes which were interesting and tasty. Quick service.

Absolute 10/10!!! We were looking for a place to snack, so I looked for nem chua rán and got this place. Every single item that we ordered, 10/10. We got: Nem chua rán, nem cua bể, bánh tôm, bánh gối, and bún to go with all that.

This charming boutique features several levels adorned with tables, with restroom facilities conveniently located on the top floor. The establishment exudes a distinctive character, though cleanliness varies, and the staff's performance is inconsistent. Opting for their unique offerings, I indulged in the specialty pillow cake and fried spring rolls. The pillow cake, though slightly dense with a tough pastry, delivered an acceptable taste. On the other hand, the fried spring rolls stood out with a delightful contrast – a crispy, light exterior complementing a flavorful stuffing. Overall, while the ambiance and service fluctuate, the culinary experience presents a mix of hits and misses.

Loved that the spring rolls and dumplings were fried without being overly oily and were flavourful. The meat bun however were too oily for me and I wished the meat to bread ratio was higher. Also didn’t realised that most of what I ordered had the exact same fillings. If you want to eat more from other shops, I would recommend the spring rolls and dumplings over the others. The shrimp cake too if you haven’t had that dish in other countries/ elsewhere. Didn’t really enjoy the fermented pork despite it being nicely fried. Maybe I’m just too used to the kind I’ve had in my own country.

This is a simple, traditional restaurant run by the lovely owner, HoAng yen, along with a team of talented lady chefs. They welcome you with such inviting smiles that you instantly feel at home. The food is fresh, full of flavor, and incredibly delicious and the prices are unbelievably cheap for the quality you get. It was not just a meal, but a genuine pleasure to eat here and even make some new friends along the way. Highly recommended!

This place is unassuming and a little crazy… lots of peeling action outside. The owner is beautiful and a hell of a sales woman! The crispy spring rolls were a solid A-. They needed more wood ear mushrooms. But still a 5 star. Come here and hang like a local. They’ll heat up your rolls and you’ll be very happy.

This is a restaurant that sell good stired fried fish. The waitress or waiter will bring the fish fried it and then add in the additional greens to the dish and fried further. It goes well with beer and also the sauces provided like shrimp and fish sauses goes very well with the rice noode. The fried rice noodle with fish taste fantastic as well. This is a 3 storeis high building that can house events on the 2nd or 3rd storey.

I found this local Vietnamese pho shop highly recommended on social media. Located in the heart of Hanoi, I personally believe this restaurant is underrated. The price is incredibly affordable, a refreshing change from some of the more famous, overpriced establishments. It feels like a genuinely honest business. The chicken pho here is truly exceptional and unforgettable. The chicken is cooked to perfection tender and juicy, with delightfully smooth and bouncy skin that bursts with flavor in every bite. It's a truly enjoyable culinary experience. The staff were also incredibly welcoming and provided excellent service. I only had two days in Hanoi, but if I had more time, I would have definitely returned. The chicken pho is a must try.

Very simple shopfront by the roadside. Their chicken pho tasted like a nice soul-warming dish. They are very generous with the serving of the chicken breast, thigh and offals. Ordered a side of pork meatballs which seemed handmade with proper pork and black fungus in it - none of those cheap processed pork balls! However, the hygiene of the place didn’t seem to be the best but we did squeeze the lime that was left on a basket on a table and we had no problems the next day. Really wanted to try the chili but decided against it.

This is the kind of place that makes flying all the way to Vietnam worth the effort. It's a typical Vietnamese restaurant with all the prep, cooking and serving done right in front of you, nearly on the sidewalk. I had the "dry" chicken pho, which is the same as pho, without the soup part although you do get a small bowl of it with the meal. It was super tasty. You will likely share a table with strangers, but that is part of the experience.

Juicy chicken breast. If you get the extra meat one, it’ll be a lot. One normal + one extra meat one were perfect for 2 people. I could ask for not putting coriander. Soup with some red chilies is super good. I taste the lime flavor, which isn’t necessarily my favorite taste.

Street Food that was recommended by a local. We had and order of the Wet Chicken Pho and an order of the Dry Chicken Pho. Both were very tasty and inexpensive for the amount we received. We also had the fried bread, which was a bit oily, but good. Definitely a local place to eat, right on the sidewalk. Less than 200,000 Dong for our meal with 3 Cokes.

Very good bowl of Pho Ga. The little pork balls you can get as an addition were great, highly recommend. The fried dough sticks were a little on the hard side (even after dunking). I prefer it when they’re fresh so you can do a couple of dips instead of leaving it in the bowl for a few mins. I went for the mixed (breast and thigh). The breast was far too dry (even for breast) it was like it wasn’t freshly chopped. Next time I’d stick with something that doesn’t spoil as quickly. Overall is was good, doesn’t make it into my top 5 Hanoi Pho Ga.

The glass noodles is so so ok, the fried eels a bit oily for me. The fried eels cake is nice, mixed well with the sauce. Staffs and “look like” boss are not so friendly that I wasn’t surprised much.

Discover this place on the morning walks , was Michelin recommended so stopped here for a quick breakfast bit of eel. It’s was full of local who love what’s served . Quality was okay . We tried the congee , Crispy eel with rice vermicelli which was our high light . The fried eel cakes were okay a bit dry but not much flavour . Very reasonable cheap eat - A tourist should try 👍

A Michelin guide street food recommendation that specialises in Eel dishes only. This is something we didn't know before we got there but decided to give it a try anyway. This was my first time trying eel and we got the eel cake. It tasted pretty average; nothing stood out in terms of flavour or texture of the dish. The pricing was street pricing and the place seemed popular with the locals as a quick meal stop.

There is another pho place beside this teeming with foreigners. This place has more locals eating so we bravely approached. The owner had to ask one of the young patrons to ask what we wanted to have. We also noticed lots of locals picking up take out orders or maybe delivery? Love the pho here and I have had tried it at least 3 other places. We will try the stir fried next time!! The menu said order was for 65,000 but was surprised she only charged us 50,000 and shooed as away with a big smile!!

Found this Authentic place by accident We had Pho XAO BO (Beef noodle soup) No1 and Pho XAO TOM CAT (Stir fried noodles with Beef and vegetables) No 2. For sure both as good as we have had on the past 15 days. Well worth the visit and do not be put off by appearance. Pho not clear soup but delicious. Savage looking but great food

I've never had dry pho before so it's hard for me to have a baseline to compare to. However, I can say that this food was delicious. The char on the meat was perfection, the sauce was delicious, the pickled vegetables next to it were light and refreshing, and a cold beer to finish it off was choice. I don't know why, but everything I've had in Vietnam so far has been great and this certainly continues that trend.

The beef pho has a slightly charred smokey flavour which adds a unique depth to the bowl. We both really enjoyed it! The restaurant is small with great service and felt much less touristy than other spots in Hanoi. Would recommend!

Best Stir-fry Pho available in Hanoi, dont sleep on this one if you visit Hanoi. The shop mostly packed with people because the food so good, ice/hot tea are available from the lil shop next by. Atmosphere is decent, all table are clean, staff team are well trained and handle the bikes for parking well. Worth trying!

This place specializes in the stir-fried beef pho, but we opted for the soup version because it seemed too heavy. The soup version was unlike any other pho place we tried in Hanoi, and the beef was pan seared before the soup was added. So the broth has a more savory and charred flavor, and is also more greasy than other pho places. But the flavor was still amazing! A squeeze of lime brightens up the whole broth!

We were heading a place next door to this but it was closed so we ended up here instead as there were lots of locals eating here. The food was simple and delicious and came quickly and very good price. Great little find and round the corner from the Train Street.

If you’re looking for a café with a hotel vibe, this is the place. With calming piano music in the background, it’s a quiet and productive workspace. It gets a bit loud and crowded during lunchtime, but otherwise, it’s peaceful and serene. The coffee is on the pricier side, but it’s worth it if you’re seeking a chill and quiet spot to work.

Went there to do some business and have an interview. Initially, the atmosphere and coffee selection were quite impressive but somewhat expensive. The coffee taste was nice. I needed somewhere quiet for my interview and was informed its fine to use the other room just dont bring my drink. As I was about to enter to do my interview, another staff member stopped me and said its not allowed only for special events. This almost ruined my entire experience. Sorry but if your staff said its fine then you should allow it as it was already agreed upon. You guys need some education in hospitality.

Was looking for a high standing coffee place, not overcrowded with tourists and/or influencers. This is the perfect place - spacious, clean, and their coconut coffee is out of this world.

Nice fancy cafe in Old Quarter Hanoi - egg coffee and coconut coffee were very good. I found the kumquat refreshing, but too sweet. They also have a ton of gifts in case you want to bring things back.

It's located in an area secluded from the traffic noise. Their drinks here are triple the price than what you'll get from the other cafes. Overall it's good but you can get a better value coffee somewhere else.

I was intrigued by this place after I saw so many people sitting outside on the sidewalk eating. So I decided to give this place a try for dinner. I was ushered inside the building and had a front row seat to the food prep. The waiter recommended I try the dry chicken noodles since they’re well known for that. The pho noodles comes with a bit of shredded green papaya, peanuts, fried shallots, chicken strips, coriander and mulberry leaves, doused in soy and fish sauce. I enjoyed it. I could see other dishes being taken out on trays - they do cold chicken salads and plates of chicken (no noodles) too. Also it seems you can request what part of the chicken you want - I think I was given breast meat but others seemed to have ordered thigh meat. I paid around 35000 dong, which is a reasonable price. Would come again. Tip: Head over to Little Bowl just opposite for a nice bowl of che (shaved ice dessert) after your dinner.

Our tour guide (Ha Nguyen) from a few nights ago wanted to hang out and took us to this special place. We had the dry chicken noodle, chicken and sticky rice, and chicken salad. Everything was so delicious that we went back there on our own. Highly recommend this place.

This is the 2nd Pho place that I went to during my 6-day trip in Hanoi. Tried the chicken noodle, the boiled chicken (the back part), and chicken glutinous rice. Food was mostly good but something unpleasant happened. Before buying, I asked the man preparing the dishes the price of each individual item. The check with the prices he mentioned should have amounted to a total of 230k VND, but when I went to pay, he claimed that the price of one of the dishes was 20k VND more, for a total of 250k. Not wanting to waste my time arguing, I paid the 250k and left but felt rather unhappy about this dining experience. There is no menu with clearly listed prices where I sat (which is near the kitchen) giving the staff the chance to arbitrarily raise the prices afterwards.

I have tried chicken noodle salad and chicken glass noodle salad at some famous restaurants in the Old Quarter, but I haven't been truly satisfied. Only when I went to Pho Hanh did I find it really delicious because of the balance of the chicken noodle salad sauce and the chicken glass noodle salad. It feels familiar, like home-cooked food. The downside is that the noodles themselves are a bit cold. The sidewalk restaurant opens at 6 PM. The male server has quite a bad attitude. You have to ask for everything yourself, from ordering to paying. If you want to experience eating inside a narrow Old Quarter house, you can go deeper into the alley to sit at a table there; you might receive better service than sitting outside on the sidewalk. However, if you sit on the sidewalk, you'll have nostalgic views when looking across the street. I do not recommend the noodle soup as it is quite ordinary.

Place was a little entrance with tables infront, very local place and 1 guy spoke english pretty well here, he recommended the dry noodle and I can say it's good, can always pour the soup in to change it to soup, hahaha. Great food. Tried a few chicken phos and I can say this is good. Tried the chicken head but didn't really like it, just like cartilage but tastes like pig skin. I wouldn't say mind-blowing but it's good.

I am not a fan of street food but if you need a real Phở Hà Nội at night, phở Thật is a good choice. Starting at around late afternoon until early morning next day, phở Thật is a well-known place for Hanoian in old quarter. Highly recommend phở sốt vang (Vietnamese beef stew) for a winter night.

We landed at 11pm, therefore not much selection. This is one of the few places that serves pho this late. It was mediocre. The Chinese donuts were good cuz my son ate 3. Four people total came to 210k dong. Seatings were very limited since they can't set up tables on the streets.

I've had a lot of Pho here in Hanoi, this is the best so far. Cheap, too. 40k for Pho and 35k for Bun Chà. EDIT: just visited this place again 3 weeks later. It's my favorite pho in Vietnam. Try the Sot Vang.

On a little bustling side street. Sit on small, low plastic stools. Small table. Use napkins. Delicious pork grilled on a stick. Cucumber chunks. Afterwards find Coconut ice cream!

Pretty good nem chua rán but it's too oily and there is no veggie like cucumber that comes with it so it gets a bit too much. My favorite is the one with cheese inside. My least favorite is the traditional one.

So goood that we went twice!! The lady was lovely towards us. What surprised us the most was the amazing butter onion aroma on the fries! Raddish was so juicy and the nem itself tastes amazing! Its a bit oily but its not something you eat everyday. Defo put this on your food list!

The sticky meat rolls are delicious with chili sauce! I don’t like the fries on the soft side but they come with chili sauce! cheese rolls with chili sauce are delicious! so the delicious thing is the chili sauce… My favorite is the jicama with chili salt to relieve the greasiness... overall it is an ordinary snack!

We were staying in a hotel next door and walked past this place and decided to try - really fun! Extremely sweet fries, but tasty savory sausages(?) and a good fun atmosphere. Friendly staff who helped us order.

A local friend brought us here to this hidden gem and boy, it was delicious! Ordered the fermented pork and cheese sticks both of which came sizzling hot straight from the frying pan! Super delicious too. The fried pork was not sour at all and had the perfect chew. Will come back here again for sure if I do visit Hanoi again one day!

They have many different cuts of meat available and delicious broth here. It’s a regular spot for me to go when I’m in the area. Only want to talk about their vegan noodles. It's been 5 yrs then I can finally have a real good vegan pho without meat. Hanoi pho is better than Saigon and there're okay-ish places around Hanoi selling pho. The broth in pho is different and hard to make it good in vegan version compared to other noodles like bun rieu, mien mang... but here you are, the best place for vegan pho in Hanoi.

A clean and resonable price phở restaurant in the neighborhood, their specialty is vegan phở (phở chay). + very clean, tidy and well organized shop. + low price for it destination. Most restaurants in this area would cost you more than $4 (~100k), this is one of the more reasonable one. + decent phở with clear broth, soft noodle and tender meat. - must order and pay right after you entered the shop. You should be prepared and thinking about what you should eat before coming in or get ready for 5 minutes of akwardness in front of the reception desk. - This is a very small shop so cranking sound of touching utensils or loud noises could be annoying.

It has been a long long time since I had an excellent bowl of phở. Highly recommend this restaurant. We ordered two cooked beef phở, fried dough stick, quick boiled eggs, and tea. Everything single dish was on point!! Phở was very tasty and sweetly flavourful. It is worth trying all. The staff were very courteous and nice, they even wiped the motobike seat for customers as it was raining outside. I will come back to try vegan phở.

I dont think this is a must try Phở for Phở lovers. The soup, the seasoning, the beef everything is so so and nothing special. Pretty cool and interesting pho shop. They have many awards and recognition. They are one of very few pho shops in Hanoi, and possibly all of Vietnamese that still serve pho with rice on the table for those who finish their pho, and want to add a bit extra. The Rice is free, and the concept is new and cool to me. But this concept is old and not common to see any more. Pretty cool place. Came here based off Google maps, a top rated place for Pho near the hotel. As others have said, it's excellent: beef is thinly sliced and the broth was so delicious and filling. Great value along with the dough sticks. Service was fast and friendly, the location is quite calm (for Hanoi) and comfortable to sit there. The total for 2 peoole was 150K VND. I actually didn't have enough cash, so I paid 100K and returned later with the money. The owner turned it down with a smile. Very kind lady. I will definitely return to eat more! Thank you!

Phở Bò Sốt Vang (Pho with stewed beef) It is similar to the Noodle with Stewed Beef or Bread with Stewed beef in HCMC: The bowl was so great with traditional flavor of HN Pho. You may enjoin them with a little fried dough sticks. Furthermore, if you like to dive further into VNese traditional flavor, you might try instant noodle instead of Pho noodle (VNese instant noodle has played an importance part during the war and the time that we win the war and being poor and hungry all the time) to understand a little more about VNese food. Sit next to me is a young boy who has ordered 2 load of instant noodle for a bowl of stewed beef, and a group of men who enjoin drinking beers while eating their bowls.

Had the beef pho here on our first night in Hanoi, and it was immediately satisfying! After travelling around the north for 11 days and trying several bowls, including more in Hanoi, this is still our favourite!

One of the best kept secrets of Old town Hanoi. The current owner is third generation of this family tradition. The Pho at first taste does not seem to be different from many others. But for the Pho lover in me, this is the best of pure Pho. No heavy flavor spice, no trace of MSG, no strong influence of any special technique or clever methods. Just plain old goodness from bone broth and genuine rice noodle. Fressh green onion, red peper, and well prepared cuts of beef. All that for an exceptional bowl of Pho priced at 35k. I can see a lot of hard work going into this bowl of Pho. And for that price, the owner of this place get my genuine respect. Note: this place is known mostly to locals, it has no sign, you just have to know where to find it. An old Hanoi senior took me to this place (I would not know how to find this on my own). A little hole in the wall serving simple but amazing sticky rice. They have a variation of sticky rice and abundance of toppings which make every mouthful interesting.

I ate here 5 years ago in 2015, so things may have changed. But then, it was awesome. In the top 10 dishes I've ever had. (and i haven't limited my culinary experience to the buffet at Denny's.) It's a quintessential Vietnamese dish. Everything is in perfect balance. The elements of Vietnamese cuisine are all there, salty meat, spicy chilies, a light broth, bitter herbs, and sweet and sour nuoc cham. She lays it all out perfectly in this one bowl. It's deceivingly simple. A bowl of noodles, a couple slices of pork, a small ladle of broth, herbs and nuoc cham. Just .... damn.

Cheap eat. Pho, with 2 kinds of mushrooms and some fake beef. She might put some MSGs in the broth. Nothing special but if you have no place so can pass by. She also have the dry version of noodles, but no Thai noodles or “crab” noodles, only one kind of pho.

It’s got to be almost impossible to make a vegan version of phở but this place will get you as close as you can without killing a cow or chicken. Pile some extra chilli, pepper and sauce into the broth and you’ll be in flavour heaven. We saw a cockfight in the park while walking down here
