Pho restaurant
Pho Thin Bo Ho is a bustling and lively spot where locals and visitors alike gather to savor the authentic flavors of Hanoi. The restaurant's communal tables are filled with diners enjoying the traditional Vietnamese dish, pho. The rich and high-quality stock, made from an old family recipe, is a standout feature of Pho Thin Bo Ho.
I was almost losing hope, as the phở we’d tried in Vietnam so far hadn’t lived up to our expectations. Having already experienced some of the best phở in Los Angeles and San Diego, we naturally used that as our standard (I know I shouldn’t compare, but Vietnamese chefs in California have done an excellent job representing their country’s cuisine—one of the reasons that inspired me to travel here in the first place). Phở Thìn Bờ Hồ was undoubtedly one of the best bowls of phở I’ve had during our family trip to Vietnam, better if not on par with Phở Gia Truyền Bát Đàn, also here in Hanoi. The portions were generous, and the combination of cuts gave the broth rich depth. The meat itself was tender and flavorful, with just the right balance of textures. I’m really glad we had the chance to eat here. Thank you!
J Y — Google review
Pho Thin Bo Ho is one of those places that often pops up in lists of must-try pho spots in Hanoi, so naturally, I had to give it a go. The pho itself is actually pretty good — comforting and flavorful — though personally, I didn’t find it to be mind-blowingly special. Still, it hits the spot if you’re looking for a classic bowl. They give you the option of choosing the beef doneness — either cooked or half-cooked. I went with the half-cooked one, and the beef was very tender and juicy, which I liked a lot. Pro tip: add some quẩy (Vietnamese fried dough sticks) on the side — they soak up the broth nicely and make the experience a bit more fun. It’s also conveniently located near Hoan Kiem Lake, so it’s an easy stop while exploring the Old Quarter area
Jiacmilia S — Google review
The beef pho here is incredibly flavorful, with a clear, aromatic broth packed with green onions, chopped cilantro, and a generous amount of beef. The location is unique—tucked away in an alley where bikes pass by as you eat, adding to the authentic street food experience. However, for those who are hygiene-conscious or sensitive to strong odors, this spot might not be ideal. The raw meat and chopping board smell can be a bit surprising. Their fried dough 'Quẩy' is firm and oily—not great on its own but pairs wonderfully when dipped into the savory pho broth. A must-try for adventurous foodies seeking authentic flavors!
Logan Y — Google review
Was skeptical with the high number of reviews, thought that it would be a tourist trap. But during my visit there were many locals dining there. Food was great!
Deon J — Google review
My 2nd day in Hanoi and my first try of Pho. This was a good pho. This will be my first reference here and let's see if I can find better than this. It cost 60,000 VND. No wait and quick service.
Rymnd — Google review
It was a good pho!! I am very like it! The broth is so delicious. And you should try pairing your pho with the breadsticks / dough fritters (just dip the breadsticks / dough fritters in pho broth for few seconds). The price is also very reasonable. But the atmosphere / seating area is not a comfy one. You might get your seat at the alley or in someone else house.
Cynthia F — Google review
Today is my first day in Vietnam. I tried beef pho, one of the most famous dishes in Vietnam. The pho is delicious, cheap, and everyone is friendly.

Another iconic Local beef pho place . Unbelievably good beef Pho Just eat and slurp this amazing broth and if you lucky buy a plate of Chinese fried bread super delicious

Pho restaurant
Pho 10 Ly Quoc Su, situated on the bustling Ly Quoc Su street in Hanoi's Old Quarter, is a spacious restaurant known for its delicious pho and hospitable owners. Unlike many other famous pho spots in Hanoi, Pho 10 Ly Quoc Su offers ample seating and air conditioning, making it a comfortable dining choice regardless of the season.
Introduction to the quintessential Vietnamese pho. Specialising only in beef pho with options of variety of cuts. Light and fresh, was advised to try their soup first, to establish a baseline. You then add in the different condiments afterward - lime, preserved garlic n chilis, fish sauce, etc, according to taste. Place was absolutely packed with tourists, it definitely caters specifically to that crowd, the pho is significantly more expensive than the usual beef soup noodles available on the streets. Seems to be a popular franchise. There are also quite a few different branches around town (saw other signature pho10 signboards on our way here from airport as well) Liked the pho. Liked how the staff helped us with our luggage. Also liked the generous condiments.
JR F — Google review
A great introduction to the quintessential beef pho of Hanoi. The broth is very savory. They have lots of options and different cuts of beef. There was a small wait. The crowd is a mix of tourists and locals. They have a few locations throughout the old-quarters. I would highly recommend to check this place out if you’re ever in Hanoi. The noodle textures were also really good. The service is nothing to rave about as it’s a very casual spot. The prices are very affordable.
Dwight K — Google review
✅ Strengths 1. Prime Location The restaurant sits at 10 Lý Quốc Sư Street, Hoàn Kiếm District, Hanoi — a central and convenient spot, perfect for both locals and tourists. 2. Authentic, High-Quality Phở Recognized by the MICHELIN Guide as a “small but renowned restaurant serving rich, flavorful beef pho with tender meat.” Recent (2025) reviews on Tripadvisor note: “No.1 for beef noodles… the broth is very good. Crowded but worth it.” Google and Wanderlog highlight: “Delicious pho, fast service, and a clean environment.” → If you want a true taste of traditional Hanoi-style beef pho, this is a top choice. 3. Variety of Beef Cuts The menu includes rare, well-done, flank, brisket, and beef shank — allowing customers to choose according to their preference. 4. Consistent Flavor and Clean Setup Many reviews mention: “Rich yet balanced broth, large bowl, tender meat,” and “acceptable hygiene and service standards for such a busy place.”
Phu T — Google review
A bowl of pho so beloved it’s earned a place in the Michelin Guide — tender beef, perfectly cooked noodles, and a broth layered with depth and soul. It’s no wonder locals and travelers alike line up here, willing to brave the long queues for that comforting taste of Hanoi done with precision and consistency. The place is often crowded and not exactly the most hygienic spot to eat, but perhaps that’s part of its raw charm — an unpolished, authentic experience where flavor takes center stage over frills.
Maria P — Google review
No matter what time it is - there’s always a queue! Luckily it goes down pretty quickly. Before trying you must know that the north of Vietnam are known for their light, delicate & traditional flavours, emphasising in clear broths, whereas in the south their food is bolder, spicier & sweeter with a wide variety of fusion dishes. Now it explains why we thought the food in Hanoi was quite plain & “healthy”, was still tasty but totally explains it now! This was a decent bowl of pho but definitely on the lighter side which I appreciate. A super simple & clean broth, barely even a drop of oil. Comforting & homely
E L — Google review
The lines go pretty quickly and the food is amazing a very reasonably priced (~70k per plate). You have to be open to the experience though. Most tables are shared, you will often see people blowing their noses or coughing (maybe because of the chillies), and nearly everything (cutlery, napkins, chilli sauce, chilli slices, lime slices) are all there on the table (probably the same across the day(s)). Food come very quickly but don’t expect a full smiling waiter. They are very efficiency-focused and in less than 5 min you should get your meal. I take this as a street food style of experience, which I personally enjoy. But if you are looking for some more restaurant like experiences (own table, more space between guests, a full menu available) this is not the place.
Maurício N — Google review
One of many absolutely fantastic Phõ restaurants in this beautiful, romantic, exciting, noisy, and charming City of Hanoi. The broth is mind-bogglingly scrumptious, the meat tender and juicy, the hot sauce is hot, and the garlic is yummy, order some breadsticks/donuts and you have the meal of your life for less than $3. 👏🫰👏
Captain D — Google review
I really wanted to like it, but i had better. Pho flavor was a but bland, meat was (very!) gummy. To be fair though, they are super efficient, despite the constant queue, waiting time is quite short. If you still decide to go, get ready to share tables (which i liked actually)

Pho restaurant
Noodle shop
Nestled in the heart of Hanoi, Phở Sướng is a beloved establishment that has stood the test of time, attracting loyal patrons for years. This iconic pho restaurant plays a significant role in promoting Vietnam's renowned Pho Hanoi brand. The secret to its popularity lies in the exquisite balance of flavors found in each bowl—rich and clear broth, tender beef that melts in your mouth, and perfectly cooked rice noodles complemented by fresh herbs and vegetables.
I’m giving this place five star strictly on the delicious beef pho! The broth is rich with a very clean taste. The noodles aren’t soggy and the meets are so tender. The service is fast and so so on the friendliness. It’s basically street food with some seating inside. I ate there right before the dinner rush.
Vu T — Google review
a popular local pho spot tucked away in the alley, pho suong delivers top tier pho at great prices! just sit down and place your order, soaking in the lively atmosphere. ordered the dac biet and enjoyed the noodles, broth and meat!
Andrea S — Google review
It is an unassuming stall in an small alley. But the pho bo is highly recommended to be the best from the hotel staff. I went and not disappointed at all. The price is not expensive by local standard. Gone twice to try their different beef for the experience.
John C — Google review
Their Pho Bo is so gooood!!!! We had this for breakfast during a rainy morning and it felt like a warm hug in the soul. Their broth and beef slices are more savory than the others we've tried. Serving size is a bit smaller than the others but it packs more flavor and fulfilment. Definitely recommendable!
Louie V — Google review
October 2025: I am a Level 7 contributor (> 400 reviews) on Google and regularly review eateries to provide an unbiased opinion. I decided to check out this restaurant for breakfast. I ordered the pho tai chin (rare and cooked beef) and a serve of fried doughnut. The seating is opposite the cooking area. The broth was amazing. What stood out was the generous portion of beef. In terms of size, this dish is half of the portion typically served in Melbourne but costs a fifth of the price. The fried doughnut was a great add on. I highly recommend that you check out this eatery when you are in Hanoi. Follow me for more recommendations of eateries and experiences in Asia and Melbourne.
Justin T — Google review
Decent bowl of pho. The broth was good but not outstanding. Meat was so so. Would come again but don’t understand why it’s constantly showing up on those curated “Best pho in Hanoi” lists

A long-standing pho restaurant tucked away in a small alley of the Old Quarter. The broth is light and flavorful, and the meat is tender and aromatic. Definitely worth trying.

Pho restaurant
Phở Vui - Hàng Giầy is a small, popular pho restaurant located in a busy tourist area. Despite its limited space, it has been a favorite among locals and tourists alike for over 30 years. The open kitchen with large stock pots and wooden tables creates an inviting atmosphere.
I took the first sip of their pho and I gasped. It was so good I couldn’t believe it. Their broth is so flavorful with a balanced hint of spices and ginger! I loved how refreshing it was and the bowl came scorching hot which I love! The meat was a bit hard to my taste, but that broth! Oh my. Perfect pho!! I added a bit of chili and lime, even more flavorful. Just writing this comment makes me drool and want to go back again
Monica F — Google review
This pho is absolutely incredible, no joke the best I’ve had in my life. The beef is tender, the broth has incredible depths of flavor. The additional pickled garlic, chili sauce, fish sauce and Chinese doughnut additions elevate the dish to more epic proportions. Don’t miss out!
Caleb C — Google review
A small, family-run restaurant (now by a third generation). It offers only one item: Phở soup. You can also order dough sticks with the soup (I recommend them!). I've tried Phở at several places in Hanoi, and I think this soup was the best. I've visited this place several times. The restaurant only has a few tables, but you can usually find a seat. The restaurant is very popular with locals. It definitely has its own atmosphere: it's reminiscent of old Hanoi.
Mariusz M — Google review
good Pho Bo. 60k for a normal bowl. no option in menu to choose type of meat but there are semi-rare beef and fatty meat which I prefer. fat is flavour! big portion. silky smooth thin Pho noodle. add a little black pepper and garlic vinegar to level up the taste. always love the fresh onion and spring onion in Pho Bo. tiny shop as with many other places. recommended.
KF L — Google review
Best late night pho in the area. Delicious, beef and big bowl here. The broth is healing. Perfect for pho any time of day, especially the late night ones after a few drinks. Highly recommend and have been coming back. Hit this place up 3 or 4 times already. Good stuff. Small shop though, but that's not a problem. Good food is good food.

Recommended by our local hotel staff, the location is very close to our hotel - just 7 minutes walk. The Beef Pho is very delicious with a lot of beef. Will definitely come again if we return to Hanoi. Super recommended! ❤️

If you're wandering through the bustling streets of Hanoi's Old Quarter, make sure to stop by Phở bò Khôi Hói, a beloved spot for beef noodle soup. This local gem is famous for its rich and flavorful broth that keeps diners coming back for more. Many locals joke about how Uncle Khoi serves up two bowls of pho on Sunday mornings, ensuring you start your day with a smile.
Situated right by the bridge which Vietnamese train passes by, the pho noodles were very rich in flavor and so soft! Recommended by a local staff at the hotel, I could understand why he suggested me to try here! It was amazing to have a local experience and there was one person that could speak English, so we could order without a problem!
Sook H — Google review
An outstanding bowl of beef phở! Generously garnished with fresh coriander, spring onion and sweet shallot stalks, every element was well-balanced and fragrant. The broth was light yet deeply flavorful — not overwhelming, just comforting and refined. The beef quality was exceptional — almost wagyu-like in tenderness and taste. We arrived just before the lunch rush, so it was a calm and comfortable experience. Only later did we realize this gem is listed in the 2024 Michelin Guide — and it absolutely deserves the recognition
Sheila H — Google review
A bit pricey for a bowl of pho, but the broth is rich and flavorful, with a well-balanced mix of noodles, vegetables, and meat. The staff may not be the friendliest, but they are efficient. Be prepared, as street vendors or strangers might approach to sell you things. Overall, it’s a beautifully made bowl of pho and definitely worth trying while in Hanoi.
Danh B — Google review
I was already eating here few years ago, back when they didn’t have Michelin recognition yet. Glad they finally got it! The pho still has the same clear, delicious broth. Well deserved!
Mike V — Google review
This was my first trip to Hanoi, and I found this restaurant through recommendations from travelers on TikTok. It’s one of the city’s most famous "phở" places, even recognized with a Michelin star. I was really impressed by both the flavor and the attentive service here. I’ll definitely come back with my friends the next time I visit Hanoi.
Tuấn N — Google review
Best bowl of pho I had in Hanoi. Real beefy flavour from the broth and all the little additions to flavour it to your heart's content. A little more expensive than some of the other offerings but with it imo and you can choose between quite a few different cuts of beef.
Jake H — Google review
First try Pho in Vietnam. I ordered rare beef Pho. It was quite tasty. You can also have some options to add some flavors to it with hot chill, garlic vinegar or salt and peppers on the table. It was Sunday morning, so tables were fully packed at 9:30am. I highly recommend you to try Pho here if you haven’t decided which Pho to try.
Yoshiteru I — Google review
A must-eat Pho in Hanoi, my favorite one in this city. There were already many people even though it’s just 10:30 in the Morning, not mention it was raining. The soup is so fresh and tasty, this is what I am search for in Hanoi.

Pho restaurant
If you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Hanoi, make sure to stop by "Bún Thang Thanh gia truyền," a delightful eatery tucked away in a serene alley. This hidden gem offers an inviting atmosphere that instantly feels like home. The star of the show is undoubtedly their bún thang, which features a rich and flavorful broth that beautifully complements delicate rice noodles. Each bowl is generously topped with tender shredded chicken and aromatic herbs, creating a symphony of flavors in every bite.
Really like this spot. The family who runs it are all so lovely and sweet. Their chicken broth is delicious. I have had better chicken meat at other places but it is still decent and I really liked this spot. We stayed close by so visited multiple times. It was super hot and humid when we were there but they made a lot of effort to seat everyone as quickly and comfortably as possible with fans etc. It is also located in a very quiet, cute alley
Kirstin J — Google review
I just love everything of this restaurant. It gives the home cook vibe, neat and clean, food is served right from family kitchen. The chicken meat is the star of this restaurant, both tender and crunchy - that's the way Vietnamese eats chicken. The broth is rich and flavourful. What surprises me most is all staff and the owner are super friendly and generous (honestly you couldn't easily find this kind of local restaurant in Hanoi 😎). Air conditioner available inside and more seats outside along the alley. 100% recommended!
Tue L — Google review
The owner’s family is incredibly kind and welcoming to tourists. When they heard me order in Vietnamese, they were so delighted! Every time I visit, they even treat me to iced tea. The food highlights the fresh, natural flavors of the ingredients, without heavy seasonings overpowering the dish’s essence. The place is clean and tidy, and if you want to experience authentic Vietnamese home-cooked flavors, you absolutely have to give this place a try!
Walter H — Google review
Before going to Vietnam, I thought that the best food I could try there was pho. In this resto, the pho was probably like the third best thing out of four menu items lol. This place is not a tourist trap type of area. It looks to be one where locals frequent it for their regular day to day meals. There were only four meals that they offered: bun thang, pho, chicken pho, and mushroom chicken rice. They include a free bowl of fried dough which pairs well with the soup meals. The best meal of the bunch though? It wasn't the soup meals LOL it was the mushroom chicken rice. Dont get me wrong, they were all good, the rice meal just stood above the rest. Great place to go to for a filling meal. I think we should have ordered one less meal, cause we were super full right after. Budget? Around $2/50000 dong per person. That's 200k dong for a family of four! Would recommend.

We called this Hidden Gem ! Had this food on my list and we went here when rainy days The owner and staff welcomed us with smile, they are so kind :) We ordered the soup and the sticky rice. The broth is awesome. Warm and tasty . We really love the food they served. Highly recomended to try when you stay in the old quarter area!

Great family run spot, tucked away from the busy Hanoi streets. We had the Xoi Ga Nam which was very flavourful, paired with Quay which dipped in the soup tasted awesome. Staff was very friendly and even gave us a free ice tea at the end.
Lins S — Google review
Found down a little back street so alot less crowded than many other spots I came across. They do a few things and do them very well, with a focus on chicken. Most likely something people have not come across outside of Vietnam so definitely worth a detour.

Such an amazing family owned restaurant that’s been making Bún Thang (a Hanoian specialty noodle) for generations! The noodle is complex and delicious and you can tell they put in great care and detail to make the bowl absolutely unforgettable. Pro tip: add a soft poached egg to the bowl They also sell xôi which is sticky rice with chicken mushroom, also super worth trying! Highly recommend you come here!!

Phở Gia Truyền Bát Đàn, also known as Phở Bat Dan, is a renowned spot in Hanoi that has gained popularity among both locals and tourists. It has been featured in various online platforms and media outlets as one of the best places to enjoy authentic Pho in the city. Despite mixed opinions from locals about its flavor, the long queues outside the restaurant are a testament to its popularity.
Best pho on my whole visit to Vietnam. There is literally 3 things on the menu so you know they do it right. A bit of a line to get on the morning to order. Authentic local favourite. Standard Vietnam style dining with slight step up with timber chairs and tables. Was in heaven from the first mouthful. Don't forget to add the crispy bread for dipping - yum.

Great food, fast service, very authentic Vietnamese experience and meal. Just be careful with the chilis on the tables! I added some to my broth for literally 10 seconds and it made it so spicy! And I love spice 😂 that’s on me though haha 2 beers and 2 mixed pho (rare and brisket) cost 160k. Very good with me.

It’s a beef noodle dish with a decent taste. The shop is small, not very big. The service works like this: you place your order directly with the cook, pay him, then he prepares the food. You wait to receive it and take it to your table to eat.

During my trip to Hanoi, one of the must-try local dishes on my list was the famous phở bò and everyone recommended Phở 49 Bát Đàn. The place was always busy, with locals and tourists lining up from early morning, which already told me it had to be special. When I finally got my bowl, the first spoon of broth was unforgettable clear, flavorful, and rich with the aroma of slow-cooked beef bones. The noodles were silky, and the beef slices were tender and perfectly balanced with the broth. It tasted like comfort in a bowl. The shop itself is small and simple, but that’s exactly what makes it authentic. You sit side by side with locals, enjoy your pho in the warm morning air, and feel the real rhythm of Hanoi life. If you’re visiting Hanoi, don’t miss Phở 49 Bát Đàn. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience that captures the heart and flavor of Vietnam.

Good Pho with a rich flavourful broth. Speciality store with just 3 options. Great broth and dangerously 🥵 hot chillies which is fortunately on the side and you add to your taste.

The best pho I’ve tasted so far! People there eat really fast. We felt a bit self-conscious for taking so long to finish our medium bowls, which felt more like large portions to us. Communication was a bit challenging, so we had to use Google Translate. Tip: Be quick when ordering.

Pho Gia Truyen Bat Dan is a great spot for a quick and delicious bowl of pho! The service is fast and friendly, and the pho options are simple but effective - just 3 options to choose from, but you can't go wrong with any of them. The pho itself is really tasty, with a rich and flavorful broth. If you're looking for a no-frills, get-in-get-out pho experience, Pho Gia Truyen Bat Dan is a solid choice!

We stumbled across this stall while looking for a breakfast place near our hotel. We got intrigued as locals with luxury cars would park on the side of the road to grab breakfast here. They have a single item on the menu—the best beef pho!! You get to choose the doneness of the beef (rare, medium rare, well done)

The most delicious Pho, chicken soup that I'm pretty sure would qualify as a cure to most illnesses! We were recommended this little place by the staff at the train station before getting the night train, they were not wrong, a fabulous little place that only serves Chicken Pho. 50k VND (about £1.40) for a big bowl of deliciousness 😋
Hannah M — Google review
This was my first time eating chicken pho and it was so yummy! I wolfed it down in under 3 minutes and it was just 50,000 VND. This was my second pho in Vietnam on the first day here. I came back for my last meal in Hanoi before going to the airport. I had just 40,000 VND left in cash and they let me eat at a reduced price given my situation! I will forever remember the kindness of the grandma who said it was okay to eat!

Visited by Australia Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Ambassador Robyn Mudie, including Chef Tran. There must be a reason why Chef Tran recommended this place. Just 3 long tables with seats on both sides. Limited sittings. Initially shop front impression wasnt something to shout about. Its's the broth! Pho (noodle) basically same everywhere but the clear chicken soup is the master piece! If you have already tried beef noodle Pho Bo, Bum cha (pork noodle dip), banh mi (sandwich), definitely can come and try this Pho Ga (Chicken Noodle). 50k VND per bowl, clearly stated.

We got recommend by a local friend about this place. They only sale chicken pho here which we don’t see it back at home ( we r from 🇨🇦) the soup is very simple but full of flavour ! The pho is 50k and the Chinese donut is 10k ( you can skip the Chinese donut ~~ )

Phở Tư Lùn Ấu Triệu is a popular morning spot known for its exceptional minced beef noodles served in a rich, 10-hour simmered beef bone stock. The tender beef flank and tendon make the dish hearty and satisfying. Located near the cathedral, it's easy to find and offers quick service despite being packed with customers. The chef owner takes pride in her delicious beef noodle soup, which has been recommended by Michelin.
This Pho shop which I actually visited twice in the few days I was in the city, in my opinion serves one of the best Pho I ever had in my life, and again I've had many many many of them over equally as many years. They use a minced raw beef and beef tendons for a truly delectable and unique and absolutely scrumptious bowl of soup served with the customary greens and some scallions + of course a side of donuts. They are in the Michelin guide this year, so I went very early in the morning + was one of the first customers and absolutely enjoyed this breakfast for the gods. 👏🫰👏

Went in a Sunday morning 7am as it closes around 11am. Essence is the broth which alleged cooked in 10 hours and I could taste the meat in every spoon. After my meal, I found they serve red wine beef noodle at same price. Same price at 65000 VDN (US$2.5).

busy as usual. Servers are too busy most of the times and they maybe rude at times. a young skinny boy there speaks English and friendlier.beef is fresh and tender however the broth is similar to other "overrated shops"; too much fish sauce smell. They use red onions instead of white onion. add some black pepper, garlic vinegar and the broth will be more palatable. at 8am, fried bread stick already sold out. 70k for a standard bowl Oct 2025. Honestly, I prefer other underrated Pho Bo in Hanoi. Not saying here is not good but I personally think it's not the best. I prefer beefy broth instead of "fish sauce" kinda broth. Peace.

Phở Bò Lâm is a beloved gem in Hanoi, renowned for its rich and flavorful broth that boasts a delightful buttery essence from chicken fat. The restaurant takes pride in using high-quality ingredients, with both fillet and thigh meat sourced from organically raised chickens, ensuring each bowl features tender meat with crispy skin. The ambiance is clean and inviting, making it a perfect spot to enjoy their signature dish.
Amazing phở bò at a cant be more reasonable price. phở lõi gân is the best. The broth is sweeter than Phở Khôi. If u want a flavorful broth, this is for u. A lighter and more complex broth will be what Phở Khôi delivers to u. But the price is significantly higher. Both are must try in Hanoi

I had a great time at this spot. You are literally sitting outsides the streets of Vietnam on those small plastic chairs eating local food while looking at bikes pass by. What's more Anthony Bourdain food adventures than that. The pho was very refreshing, the broth impeccable, the beef very tender (not softened with bicarbonate of soda). The atmosphere was also amazing, I think I got a discount on my condense milk coffee but the grannies spoke in their language so I just smiled everything off and said 'thank you' as they gave me some of my money back.

Incredible bowl of pho - the broth is very flavorful, deep, and rich. The beef is tender and plentiful. The noodles are thin and chewy. The quay is light and delicious. Undoubtedly our favourite bowl of pho in Hanoi and it's easy to see why the restaurant is so busy from open until close. We will think about this bowl often.

Phở Bò Lâm, located at 48 Hàng Vải Street in Hanoi, is a well-loved and long-standing institution, a true haven for early risers seeking an authentic bowl of beef phở. Operating from 5:30 AM until mid-morning when its renowned broth and special beef cuts sell out, Phở Bò Lâm offers a traditional Hanoi phở experience cherished by locals for over 30 years. The Heart of Hanoi Phở Phở Bò Lâm's reputation is built on its exceptionally flavorful broth. Simmered for 14 to 16 hours with beef bones, grilled onions, cinnamon, star anise, and other secret family spices, the broth is clear, subtly sweet, and aromatic. It embodies the classic Northern Vietnamese phở style – light and clean, distinctly different from the richer, fattier Southern variations. This traditional cooking method ensures a profound depth of flavor without being overpowering. The restaurant offers various cuts of beef, with the beef heel muscle (lõi gầu) being a signature and highly sought-after choice. This rare cut is praised for its tender meat and gelatinous tendon, providing a delightful chewiness. Other popular options include thinly sliced rare beef, flank, and brisket. The phở noodles themselves are typically thick and slightly chewy, consistent with Hanoi's traditional style. Many locals enhance their bowl by adding quẩy (fried dough sticks) for dipping, a beloved custom that adds a satisfying crunch. Authentic Ambiance and Local Experience Phở Bò Lâm operates from a modest, traditional storefront on Hàng Vải Street. The ambiance is that of a bustling local eatery, reflecting the everyday life of Hanoi. While seating indoors might be limited, additional tables are often set up on the sidewalk, creating a lively and communal dining atmosphere. The constant flow of patrons, especially in the early mornings, testifies to its popularity and the consistent quality of its offerings. Service at Phở Bò Lâm is efficient and straightforward, typical of popular street food establishments in Hanoi. The focus is on quickly serving hot, fresh bowls of phở to a steady stream of eager customers. Despite the busy environment, the staff are adept at managing the crowd, ensuring that everyone gets to enjoy their morning bowl. Phở Bò Lâm provides an authentic glimpse into Hanoi's culinary soul, making it an essential stop for anyone wanting to experience traditional Vietnamese phở as the locals do.

Phở gánh Hàng Chiếu Ms.Thoa is a well-known late-night dining spot in Hanoi, open from midnight until 7 am. Despite occasional early closures due to ingredient shortages, it remains a favorite among locals. The restaurant is praised for maintaining the quality and affordability of its pho over the years. The authentic and rich broth, tender meat, and local patronage make it a hidden gem yet to be discovered by many foreign tourists.
Had the mixed meat, and fried stick as extra order. This is probably the best Pho in my whole stay in Hanoi. Even the Michelin awarded ones can’t compare to this. All other Pho Bo’s tasted mediocre after having this one. Don’t mind their shouting as it is apparently their love language. And use google translate to say what you want since they don’t speak english. Or just point in the Menu. The old man(husband?) was also very accommodating and hands-on in teaching customers how to eat their Pho.

Got here at 9am and they were sold out of the French stew beef. Luckily the owner's son in law was there and helped us to order and the owner put in whatever was left for us to taste! He was very helpful and friendly as it was our first time and told us the history of the shop. The owner was also very friendly and kind to first timers. Very nice broth and tasty meat but I prefer softer noodles. Very good value for money and a nice local spot to try. The orange juice and lime tea were also very refreshing, highly recommend.

Sooooooo GOOD, I came back TWICE. The food, both Pho and Sot Vang are amazing. I had both on two separate days and they are just perfect. You don’t have to add any extra condiments but they are there if you want them. If you don’t know what to order, just let them make you a bowl. Trust me, you won’t regret it. This probably the best Pho and it is as good as it gets here in Ha Noi. Extremely authentic and good vibe. Best time to come is EARLY. Again, please come EARLY. I came around 9:30 AM on my first day in Ha Noi and they were closing down for the day. She opens at 3 AM and she says she mostly feed the locals who go to work early in the morning. Service, this is probably why she is so well loved by both locals and tourists. She treats you like you are family. She reminds me of my mom or a sweet auntie who just LOVES to feed you. You can tell that she is passionate about cooking and she loves to serve the community through food. There is no better way to start your day in Ha Noi than this.

Amazing amazing amazing. She started from the bottom (as a street vendor with no store front) and now we’re here (store front with tables inside for sitting.) This lady is super sweet. My friend took a photo with her about 3 years ago and she saw the photo and gave us extra pho broth (the special one that is red and braised with the special meat) for everyone!!!! This place is open from 3am to when they sell out (around 9am) so I do recommend coming after drinking in the wee hours of the morning OR coming when you wake up jetlagged at 5am. One or the other or else you won’t make it. I recommend get the special combo.

Phở Mạnh Cường is a classic street-side restaurant located in the old quarter area of Hanoi, making it very convenient to access. The restaurant prides itself on serving Hanoi-style pho with all-natural broth, free from any artificial additives like Knorr. While there is no English menu, the helpful staff and minimal English-speaking auntie make ordering easy.
After a month in Hanoi, and trying many Pho places (yes, including the Michelin Guide Pho 10), I can safely say this is the best spot in Hanoi for Pho. Don’t be shy, ask for the doughnuts. If it’s your first time, make sure you add some of the garlic vinegar, pepper, lime, and some of the hot sauce/chilli’s if you like a bit of heat. Really really good.

Pho is really nice! - Soup is flavourful 5/5 (not beefy if you worry about strong beef taste) - Beef is soft and easy to eat 4/5 (not beefy if you worry about strong beef taste) - Dough fritter (dip it in the soup and eat it partial soak!)

Poor customer service neither the good noodle. There is a menu with the price on the wall for locals?? but I was forced by the owner to order a beef pho only with more expensive than the menu price for the same noodle. She flicked the menu for me and I assumed it’s for foreigners or visitors only to rip off. The noodle tastes under average. I would not recommend at all.

One of the traditional Pho in Hanoi now open 24/7, free car park. My father had experienced this since long time ago, recommend for all his customer and friends traveling to Hanoi. In the morning you can have Pho and try green tea at Tuan Che next to it. The price is reasonable and located near to the Old town street, must try in Hanoi.

Good beef pho with nicely cooked noodles and a clear broth. We liked the dough breadsticks as well and ordered it twice. If you don’t like cilantro, chances are that you would still need to scoop out some smaller bits that are mixed with the spring onion. There is only one option on the menu (for us at least) but that was not an issue. The staff could not speak English but Google Translate and communication with your hands will bring you a long way. It was a bit odd at first when we entered and didn’t know how and where to order the food, but we just waited in front of them and eventually it worked out.

Phở Mặn Gầm Cầu, a popular pho shop that recently reopened in early 2024 after a period of closure, has garnered mixed reviews from diners. Some find the noodle soup too salty, while others appreciate its strong flavor. Situated at the entrance of a bustling alley with motorcycles passing by and facing the train track from Long Bien bridge, the location may not be ideal for some. The service is described as inconsistent and relatively pricey for what is offered.
This bun cha is served in an alleyway for the most authentic experience you could ask for. I love the way they cook the pork, it’s charred perfectly, tender yet crispy, and little greasy in the best way possible. Dipping it in the fish sauce and eating it with vermicelli is so good. It gets really busy and they don’t speak english too well, so you need to be confident in getting the worker’s attention to order. I would say don’t expect “service” here or a super clean environment. If you want quick and yummy food, then this is the spot for you.

This was a charming spot, but it was a bit hit or miss. I'm not 100% what a "good" bun cha should be, but the texture of the pork was a bit plasticky? The flavor was excellent, the char was excellent, the soup and noodles that went with this were also incredible. It was quite cool to see how they were cooking the meat right there next to the train tracks/under the bridge. I probably wouldn't come back as there's likely other bun cha that I would be just as happy to have that has better seating and a cleaner location, but still happy that I got to try it!

Overall - 8.2/10 - Went for bun cha left with pho, can't say I'm upset 🤷 Food Quality - 8.4/10 - We paid 110,000/pp for beef pho and really enjoyed it. I'm sure you can get better but it's a good option if you are in the area. Atmosphere - 7/10 - Sitting in the street might make the food taste better? Value for Money - 7/10 - Seems to be a pretty standard price.

No idea why it's called pho man but the bun cha there is awesome. Bun cha is grilled pork with rice noodles. I was introduced by my Airbnb host and its the best grilled pork I have had. The soup that comes with the grilled pork is tasty, though I have no idea what soup it is. There's like carrot and radish slices in the soup and a truckload of vege on a plate. I have no idea how much it costs for locals but I was charged 55k VND for bun cha and a cup of iced tea.

Bánh phở (noodle) is good, beef cut is excellent, hành (onion) is excellent, The soup is indeed salty with me, but it is what made the name of this store. Quick service, friendly staff.

Our all time favorite pho shop in Hanoi - Best taste in town, specially for beef-shank lovers. One thing to note: This is "Pho Man" ("Salty Pho"), so if you prefer moderate seasoning, this will not be good choice. But no worry, salty does not mean it's just all about salt. The taste is actually awesome, rich, bold, flavorful, all in such a water-clear broth 8) And the beef? Well, needless to say...

We’ve been in Hanoi a day and this is the best food spot for Pho if you want genuine food. When you go there it’s so unsuspecting because you’re inside people’s homes but don’t let that detour you. Signal to the woman working there how many you want. If the room is full you’ll have to wait but maybe expect to sit with other people and enjoy your meal with the locals. Remember to take your shoes off too! Be warned if it’s a hot day you’ll be warm in there but embrace it. You’ll be served the most authentic beef pho you will ever have. The broth is so clear but also full of flavour from the first spoonful to the last. The beef is sliced very thinly so I was cooked all the way through and was very tender. I like pho this was because it’s minimal in ingredients and really can taste each ingredient cooked well. They definitely made a few bowls in of Pho before. It is served with fried dough which is seen around the place. The condiments on the table are chili vinegar and then a chili/oil sauce. The Pho is gluten free my partner is gluten intolerant and she will eat here every day pretty much. The fried dough is not gluten free Pay in cash and you won’t pay as much as you would in other places. We paid $80,000vnd for 2 bowls!!

This was my first and most memorable meal in Hanoi. Never really liked Pho so I rarely eat it in my country (SG) but this was so freaking good. This must be what a loving grandma hug would have felt like. Warmed the cockles of my heart, super super comforting. It was mind blowing because it looked like a very simple dish with just a few ingredients but somehow the flavours of everything together just made it so incredibly delicious. The setting itself, being so humble and hidden, made the entire experience authentic. I felt like I was eating in someone’s house (I probably was, with the tv on my left and a bed on my right).

Ive had a lot of pho with each trip I’ve made to Vietnam and I live in Hong Kong which also has loads of great spots of Vietnamese food. Having tried many a pho in my life, this pho was undoubtably the best pho I’ve had in my life. I went by myself in the late afternoon, I had the room to myself. I sat down and the food came - no need to order as there is just one thing (the world’s best pho). I ate so mindfully in this special space. Everything about this experience was full of care and love.

This was a fun dining experience. First, walk through the little alleyway between two shops and you will see white stairs on your right. At the top of the stairs to your left is the kitchen, we went in to tell an aunty we’d like two bowls of beef pho. Then to your right you will see some shoes. Take your shoes off and enter what looks like a dining room. At 40k VND per bowl with a side of fried dough sticks, this was a well valued and delicious meal. Our table briefly had condiments like garlic vinegar and chilli sauce, but that was taken away before I had the chance to use them. It was busy after 7pm. People would come and go swiftly but we noticed the room was very quiet in general. There were more tourists than locals during our time there.

For 40k, the warmth of the location and the overall taste is fantastic. The reason that this pho is different from others is because it is the original Hanoi style that comes with fried “Quay”. I’m thoroughly embarrassed that I had not broken my large notes into small change, yet the blessed old ladies laughed it off and gave me a 3k discount.

Nestled in the heart of Hanoi, Ô Bún Chả - 89 Lê Hồng Phong is a must-visit for anyone eager to indulge in authentic Vietnamese cuisine. This cozy eatery specializes in Bun Cha, a local delicacy that features perfectly grilled meat served with a flavorful broth that's neither too sweet nor overly salty. The inviting atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to enjoy delicious food after hours when other places may be closed.
I am from Korea and I rate the food at this restaurant as quite delicious. If you want to try a specialty dish of Hanoi, I suggest you try Bun Cha at this restaurant.

Amazing Buncha at this place very close to museum they had extra condiments so you can add the spice level or different flavors and also nice fans and shelter to keep me cool after walking throughout the day. Great service by Dong too!

Stunning food amazing quality and hygene the vermisili look dry but its not, the soup not hot but thats the twist i think since its quite hot in the country the soup have sweet and a bit sour taste that very refreshing the staff also quite helpfull , put the languange barrier aside would be amazing if have some initiative but over all i will definitely comeback especially for the corn tea (somehow can taste the sweetness of pinaple also but cant confirm since i cant ask them :') )
Andre L — Google review
An exceptionally awful tourist trap. I ended up here by accident, following one of the guides. The meat wasn’t grilled, just reheated in a microwave. In the teapots with chrysanthemum tea, there were leftovers of already sour tea at the bottom. Even the garlic had gone bad. The noodles weren’t cut for convenience and were simply dumped in as one big lump. The whole thing was served by two unsmiling staff glued to their phones. Overall, it’s better to look for a more authentic place, where at least the ingredients will be fresh.

I was just looking for a spot to cool off and grab a drink, but the menu definitely made change my mind. I grabbed a plate of Bun Cha and it was a terrific first experience for me! The staff is quick, polite, and responsive. Definitely give them a visit. 👍🏾👍🏾

Quán Thanh Béo Phở Bò is a relatively new addition to the pho scene in Hanoi, but it has quickly gained popularity among locals and visitors alike. The aroma of beef broth, ginger, and spices fills the air upon arrival, evoking nostalgic childhood memories. Despite being busy with locals, the bustling atmosphere adds to the authentic experience. Priced reasonably, a bowl of pho offers a perfect representation of North Vietnamese cuisine.
Recommended by hotel staff when we asked for pho that local goes to.. good pho.. mostly locals eat here.. clean n cozy place. Very reasonable prices.

Really good pho. The menu is in Vietnamese, and the staff speaks very little English, so not sure what else they have but the pho is amazing. We stayed the area so we came three different times. Service is very quick and the staff is friendly.

Everything I need from a Pho place is here. Very comfortable seating, condiments, good lighting, spacious enough for a group and good visuals from a glass walled prepping area. The price is same as the restaurants I find from the streets and alleys. If you prioritize comfortable seating, come here.
Joe C — Google review
Worth the visit! It was really busy when we got there, but soon realised it was busy with locals which was a good sign! 40k for a bowl ( almost $3 AUD) perfect representation of North Vietnamese Pho. Don’t be overwhelmed with the atmosphere, help yourself by taking a seat if there’s any available and once you’re ready to order let the waiter know. The cold rice on the table is complementary, they eat cold rice with their pho (it’s not leftover rice from someone else) This place also offers hot pot!

40k/bowl of pho + 5k quẩy for 1 person. Damn the broth was so flavorful and yummy. It’s a bit salty and the noodles were amazingly soft. The only problem is the seating area which will be crowded at peak meal hours.

Phở Gia Truyền Bát Sứ is a popular spot in Hanoi's Old Quarter, known for its delicious and comforting bowls of pho. Despite its simple appearance with plastic stools and tables, this hole-in-the-wall eatery has been delighting locals and travelers since the 1960s. The restaurant may not be the most welcoming or accommodating, but the long lines and efficient service make up for it.

(Translated by Google) One of the oldest pho restaurants in Hanoi's Old Quarter. The special thing is that the pho broth here is used for beef, chicken, and sausage, so if anyone likes the typical taste of beef pho, they probably won't like it here. Nestled in the heart of Hanoi, "Bún Bò Nam Bộ Bách Phương" has been a beloved dining spot since 1986, attracting both locals and travelers alike. This charming little eatery may have a modest menu, but it shines with its signature dish: the beef noodle salad.
If you are not a Vietnamese and only knows Pho and Banh Mi, let me educate you with my own limited knowledge of this mindblowing dish; beef noodle salad. Apparently they have it for breakfast, and its a light and refreshing enough to start the day with. There is the crunchiness from the fried onions, then the savory beef and finally the noodles to soak up just a little bit of the broth at the bottom (its considered dry) and give it all a very good mix and boom, energy and flavour bomb to start your day of touring Hanoi! Oh by the way, the fried pork roll damm good also please. Don't order you don't cry when you go home. Ngon!

Pho Bo Nam Bo is an amazing dish ever invented. The fried beef , lots of vege, pickled papaya, peanuts. Gives you complex texture and great umami charred taste. I would like to think the "frying" should be longer and a bit more seasoning for better taste. Still recommends it.

A great spot to try the beef noodle salad; fresh, tasty, and well put together. But sitting indoors kind of took away from the vibe. I wish they’d kept the setup a bit more authentic, maybe with some outdoor seating or that street-style feel. It would’ve made the whole experience way better.

Quán Gốc Đa, located near St Josephs Cathedral in Hanoi's Old Quarter, is known for its specialty dish called Banh Goi, also known as Pillow Cake or Fried Dumplings. These miniature pillow-shaped dumplings are made with a rice-flour pastry filled with finely-chopped glass noodles, wood ear mushrooms, minced pork, and steamed quail eggs.

Had my first meal in Hanoi here as I saw those shrimps cake that I had in Danang. It’s a bunch of various fried local food and some freshly rolled beef rolls. Prices and the place is very local but food is good and I’ve since dine here a few times plus take away (shrimp cakes). Place is really local so don’t expect absolute cleanliness. They give you a menu with the price and a piece of paper and pen for you to write down your order and you give it to them. Afterwards they return you that paper and you keep that to tally your total order and bill. Service can be lacking, as it’s a popular (with the locals and some foreigners) and busy place but just remind them and you can get your food.

This charming boutique features several levels adorned with tables, with restroom facilities conveniently located on the top floor. The establishment exudes a distinctive character, though cleanliness varies, and the staff's performance is inconsistent. Opting for their unique offerings, I indulged in the specialty pillow cake and fried spring rolls. The pillow cake, though slightly dense with a tough pastry, delivered an acceptable taste. On the other hand, the fried spring rolls stood out with a delightful contrast – a crispy, light exterior complementing a flavorful stuffing. Overall, while the ambiance and service fluctuate, the culinary experience presents a mix of hits and misses.
Jamie P — Google review
Loved that the spring rolls and dumplings were fried without being overly oily and were flavourful. The meat bun however were too oily for me and I wished the meat to bread ratio was higher. Also didn’t realised that most of what I ordered had the exact same fillings. If you want to eat more from other shops, I would recommend the spring rolls and dumplings over the others. The shrimp cake too if you haven’t had that dish in other countries/ elsewhere. Didn’t really enjoy the fermented pork despite it being nicely fried. Maybe I’m just too used to the kind I’ve had in my own country.

The PHỞ is delicious, with tender noodles and a light, delicate broth. The chicken is sweet and flavorful. The staff work quickly with professional movements. I found this local Vietnamese pho shop highly recommended on social media. Located in the heart of Hanoi, I personally believe this restaurant is underrated. The price is incredibly affordable, a refreshing change from some of the more famous, overpriced establishments. It feels like a genuinely honest business. The chicken pho here is truly exceptional and unforgettable. The chicken is cooked to perfection tender and juicy, with delightfully smooth and bouncy skin that bursts with flavor in every bite. It's a truly enjoyable culinary experience. The staff were also incredibly welcoming and provided excellent service. I only had two days in Hanoi, but if I had more time, I would have definitely returned. The chicken pho is a must try.

Very simple shopfront by the roadside. Their chicken pho tasted like a nice soul-warming dish. They are very generous with the serving of the chicken breast, thigh and offals. Ordered a side of pork meatballs which seemed handmade with proper pork and black fungus in it - none of those cheap processed pork balls! However, the hygiene of the place didn’t seem to be the best but we did squeeze the lime that was left on a basket on a table and we had no problems the next day. Really wanted to try the chili but decided against it.

This is the kind of place that makes flying all the way to Vietnam worth the effort. It's a typical Vietnamese restaurant with all the prep, cooking and serving done right in front of you, nearly on the sidewalk. I had the "dry" chicken pho, which is the same as pho, without the soup part although you do get a small bowl of it with the meal. It was super tasty. You will likely share a table with strangers, but that is part of the experience.
Alex Z — Google review
Juicy chicken breast. If you get the extra meat one, it’ll be a lot. One normal + one extra meat one were perfect for 2 people. I could ask for not putting coriander. Soup with some red chilies is super good. I taste the lime flavor, which isn’t necessarily my favorite taste.
Seokyung K — Google review
Street Food that was recommended by a local. We had and order of the Wet Chicken Pho and an order of the Dry Chicken Pho. Both were very tasty and inexpensive for the amount we received. We also had the fried bread, which was a bit oily, but good. Definitely a local place to eat, right on the sidewalk. Less than 200,000 Dong for our meal with 3 Cokes.
H K — Google review
Very good bowl of Pho Ga. The little pork balls you can get as an addition were great, highly recommend. The fried dough sticks were a little on the hard side (even after dunking). I prefer it when they’re fresh so you can do a couple of dips instead of leaving it in the bowl for a few mins. I went for the mixed (breast and thigh). The breast was far too dry (even for breast) it was like it wasn’t freshly chopped. Next time I’d stick with something that doesn’t spoil as quickly. Overall is was good, doesn’t make it into my top 5 Hanoi Pho Ga.

Discover this place on the morning walks , was Michelin recommended so stopped here for a quick breakfast bit of eel. It’s was full of local who love what’s served . Quality was okay . We tried the congee , Crispy eel with rice vermicelli which was our high light . The fried eel cakes were okay a bit dry but not much flavour . Very reasonable cheap eat - A tourist should try 👍
Topman B — Google review
If you come here, make sure to order the dry eel vermicelli. It’s served with a small bowl of soup on the side. The dish is a unique combination of various toppings, including cucumber, peanuts, fried tofu skin, and crispy dried eel that gives a satisfying crunch. The accompanying soup has a light, clear flavor, and it pairs really well with the dry noodles. However, the service was poor—staff showed attitude and spoke quite loudly to customers. Great food, but the service definitely isn’t.
Duong L — Google review
A Michelin guide street food recommendation that specialises in Eel dishes only. This is something we didn't know before we got there but decided to give it a try anyway. This was my first time trying eel and we got the eel cake. It tasted pretty average; nothing stood out in terms of flavour or texture of the dish. The pricing was street pricing and the place seemed popular with the locals as a quick meal stop.
Sugandha S — Google review
First time eating eel. First time with eel soup. And man—what a revelation. The broth had that deep, soulful punch you only get when someone’s been doing this for decades, maybe generations. The eel itself? Crisped up just right, none of that limp, slippery nonsense people imagine. It was alive, honest food—the kind of thing that makes you stop mid-bite and think, yeah, this is why I travel. The staff? Warm, no fuss, the kind of hospitality that isn’t about service so much as letting you into their world. If you’re in Hanoi and you want something outside the usual suspects—this is it. Ten out of ten, no notes

There is another pho place beside this teeming with foreigners. This place has more locals eating so we bravely approached. The owner had to ask one of the young patrons to ask what we wanted to have. We also noticed lots of locals picking up take out orders or maybe delivery? Love the pho here and I have had tried it at least 3 other places. We will try the stir fried next time!! The menu said order was for 65,000 but was surprised she only charged us 50,000 and shooed as away with a big smile!!

Found this Authentic place by accident We had Pho XAO BO (Beef noodle soup) No1 and Pho XAO TOM CAT (Stir fried noodles with Beef and vegetables) No 2. For sure both as good as we have had on the past 15 days. Well worth the visit and do not be put off by appearance. Pho not clear soup but delicious. Savage looking but great food

I've never had dry pho before so it's hard for me to have a baseline to compare to. However, I can say that this food was delicious. The char on the meat was perfection, the sauce was delicious, the pickled vegetables next to it were light and refreshing, and a cold beer to finish it off was choice. I don't know why, but everything I've had in Vietnam so far has been great and this certainly continues that trend.

The beef pho has a slightly charred smokey flavour which adds a unique depth to the bowl. We both really enjoyed it! The restaurant is small with great service and felt much less touristy than other spots in Hanoi. Would recommend!

Best Stir-fry Pho available in Hanoi, dont sleep on this one if you visit Hanoi. The shop mostly packed with people because the food so good, ice/hot tea are available from the lil shop next by. Atmosphere is decent, all table are clean, staff team are well trained and handle the bikes for parking well. Worth trying!
Hyperbeats — Google review
This place specializes in the stir-fried beef pho, but we opted for the soup version because it seemed too heavy. The soup version was unlike any other pho place we tried in Hanoi, and the beef was pan seared before the soup was added. So the broth has a more savory and charred flavor, and is also more greasy than other pho places. But the flavor was still amazing! A squeeze of lime brightens up the whole broth!

We were heading a place next door to this but it was closed so we ended up here instead as there were lots of locals eating here. The food was simple and delicious and came quickly and very good price. Great little find and round the corner from the Train Street.

The cafe Trung Nguyên Legend Café is a large and chic place with a dark dungeon feel. The toilets are located up the spiral staircase, which makes it a bit spooky. However, the drinks are fine and the surrounding area is nice.
Really cute oasis for good coffee! Indoor and outdoor seating, and they sell whole coffee beans (arabica and robusta) which I'm planning on buying to take home. Had the coconut coffee here which was super refreshing and delicious- the coffee shot was strong and flavorful and well balanced with the drink. Can't wait to go back and try something else!

If you’re looking for a café with a hotel vibe, this is the place. With calming piano music in the background, it’s a quiet and productive workspace. It gets a bit loud and crowded during lunchtime, but otherwise, it’s peaceful and serene. The coffee is on the pricier side, but it’s worth it if you’re seeking a chill and quiet spot to work.
Mary C — Google review
Went there to do some business and have an interview. Initially, the atmosphere and coffee selection were quite impressive but somewhat expensive. The coffee taste was nice. I needed somewhere quiet for my interview and was informed its fine to use the other room just dont bring my drink. As I was about to enter to do my interview, another staff member stopped me and said its not allowed only for special events. This almost ruined my entire experience. Sorry but if your staff said its fine then you should allow it as it was already agreed upon. You guys need some education in hospitality.

Phở Hạnh is a popular spot in Hanoi, especially among the young and trendy crowd. It opens only in the evening, attracting many visitors who don't mind sitting on small plastic stools along the sidewalk. The menu offers traditional beef pho as well as a modern chicken version. In addition to the classic soup-style pho, diners can also savor a delicious dry version of the dish.
We found this shop when passed by the place while looking for local food. We felt intrigue when a lot of ppl are having noodle at the road side. Not like other shops, food preparation is not on the road side and cannot see the place where prepared. Food is tasty and reasonable price. It can get soup and dry noodle with chicken only. Chicken salad also nice dishes. Price is around 50,000 don but it has big portion.
Han O — Google review
I’d give it a 4.5 if I could but Google won’t let me. Great food! Small alleyway for indoor seating (limited) , service is ok, some waiters are nice others not so nice. Pretty local place and good tasting dried chicken pho.
Richard W — Google review
I was intrigued by this place after I saw so many people sitting outside on the sidewalk eating. So I decided to give this place a try for dinner. I was ushered inside the building and had a front row seat to the food prep. The waiter recommended I try the dry chicken noodles since they’re well known for that. The pho noodles comes with a bit of shredded green papaya, peanuts, fried shallots, chicken strips, coriander and mulberry leaves, doused in soy and fish sauce. I enjoyed it. I could see other dishes being taken out on trays - they do cold chicken salads and plates of chicken (no noodles) too. Also it seems you can request what part of the chicken you want - I think I was given breast meat but others seemed to have ordered thigh meat. I paid around 35000 dong, which is a reasonable price. Would come again. Tip: Head over to Little Bowl just opposite for a nice bowl of che (shaved ice dessert) after your dinner.

Our tour guide (Ha Nguyen) from a few nights ago wanted to hang out and took us to this special place. We had the dry chicken noodle, chicken and sticky rice, and chicken salad. Everything was so delicious that we went back there on our own. Highly recommend this place.
Darren L — Google review
This is the 2nd Pho place that I went to during my 6-day trip in Hanoi. Tried the chicken noodle, the boiled chicken (the back part), and chicken glutinous rice. Food was mostly good but something unpleasant happened. Before buying, I asked the man preparing the dishes the price of each individual item. The check with the prices he mentioned should have amounted to a total of 230k VND, but when I went to pay, he claimed that the price of one of the dishes was 20k VND more, for a total of 250k. Not wanting to waste my time arguing, I paid the 250k and left but felt rather unhappy about this dining experience. There is no menu with clearly listed prices where I sat (which is near the kitchen) giving the staff the chance to arbitrarily raise the prices afterwards.
Harriet D — Google review
I have tried chicken noodle salad and chicken glass noodle salad at some famous restaurants in the Old Quarter, but I haven't been truly satisfied. Only when I went to Pho Hanh did I find it really delicious because of the balance of the chicken noodle salad sauce and the chicken glass noodle salad. It feels familiar, like home-cooked food. The downside is that the noodles themselves are a bit cold. The sidewalk restaurant opens at 6 PM. The male server has quite a bad attitude. You have to ask for everything yourself, from ordering to paying. If you want to experience eating inside a narrow Old Quarter house, you can go deeper into the alley to sit at a table there; you might receive better service than sitting outside on the sidewalk. However, if you sit on the sidewalk, you'll have nostalgic views when looking across the street. I do not recommend the noodle soup as it is quite ordinary.
Khue H — Google review
Your no 1 trusted reviewer is here to save the day! Place was a little entrance with tables infront, very local place and 1 guy spoke english pretty well here, he recommended the dry noodle and I can say it's good, can always pour the soup in to change it to soup, hahaha. Great food. Tried a few chicken phos and I can say this is good. Tried the chicken head but didn't really like it, just like cartilage but tastes like pig skin. I wouldn't say mind-blowing but it's good.

Phở Thật is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese noodle soup in Hanoi, especially during the late-night hours. This bustling eatery comes alive as darkness falls, with the enticing scent of simmering broth wafting through the air and drawing in eager diners. Open from late afternoon until early morning, it has become a beloved spot among locals in the Old Quarter.
I went here based on a locals recommendation on the topic Streetfood. So far, it was one of the best Phơ I tried in Old Quarters. Get the Wine-vinegar beef phơ. Price is 50k ~2USD. Service is super fast. Bit noisy, but it's street food, haha.

Decent pho but the Sot Vang (red beef) was stringy. The broth was okay, in the evening , close to midnight there was not many options anyway.

5 stars for the PHO.The soup was very fresh, with plenty of meat, and the noodles were chewy. Perfect for people who don’t like coriander. I came to try it because of DPRIAN, and it was really delicious. The young male owner was also very friendly. Because it is near the street, the sanitation is not very clean. We went there in the early morning, still need to wait for a table.

We landed at 11pm, therefore not much selection. This is one of the few places that serves pho this late. It was mediocre. The Chinese donuts were good cuz my son ate 3. Four people total came to 210k dong. Seatings were very limited since they can't set up tables on the streets.

Was recommended to this sausage place from our local guide and BOY WAS IT SO GOOD. I regret ordering so little of it thinking I’ll just “try” a few. I could eat at least a 100 of these… The road side dining experience was elevated from the exhaust gas that goes into marinating the sausages further….

Pretty good nem chua rán but it's too oily and there is no veggie like cucumber that comes with it so it gets a bit too much. My favorite is the one with cheese inside. My least favorite is the traditional one.

If you're on the hunt for an exceptional bowl of pho in Hanoi, look no further than Phở Sướng cô Mười. This gem stands out with its rich flavors and generous portions of tender beef, perfectly cooked to enhance your dining experience. The onions are blanched beforehand, ensuring a milder taste that complements the broth beautifully.
The best Pho that we tried in Hanoi. The atmosphere is perfect, it's not touristy, prices are super affordable, and the food is simply delicious. The staff speaks English and is super nice and helpful. Love this place! Definitely recommend!

Only want to talk about their vegan noodles. It's been 5 yrs then I can finally have a real good vegan pho without meat. Hanoi pho is better than Saigon and there're okay-ish places around Hanoi selling pho. The broth in pho is different and hard to make it good in vegan version compared to other noodles like bun rieu, mien mang... but here you are, the best place for vegan pho in Hanoi.

A clean and resonable price phở restaurant in the neighborhood, their specialty is vegan phở (phở chay). + very clean, tidy and well organized shop. + low price for it destination. Most restaurants in this area would cost you more than $4 (~100k), this is one of the more reasonable one. + decent phở with clear broth, soft noodle and tender meat. - must order and pay right after you entered the shop. You should be prepared and thinking about what you should eat before coming in or get ready for 5 minutes of akwardness in front of the reception desk. - This is a very small shop so cranking sound of touching utensils or loud noises could be annoying.

It has been a long long time since I had an excellent bowl of phở. Highly recommend this restaurant. We ordered two cooked beef phở, fried dough stick, quick boiled eggs, and tea. Everything single dish was on point!! Phở was very tasty and sweetly flavourful. It is worth trying all. Pho restaurant
Phở Nhớ is a well-known vegetarian pho restaurant in Hanoi, having earned the runner-up position in a local Pho cooking competition. Initially unnamed, it gained its title when a visitor described their bowl as 'a bowl of pho to forever remember.' This led to its popular moniker and recognition among locals. The restaurant offers quality beef noodles with tender slices and flavorful broth. Additionally, they serve excellent fried Pho and top-notch fried rice.
I'm obsessed with Phở Nhớ! The flavors are incredibly rich and authentic, with a broth that's both savory and slightly sweet. The noodles are cooked to perfection, and the various toppings add a wonderful depth to the dish. What truly sets Phở Nhớ apart, however, is the love and care that clearly goes into each bowl. You can taste the tradition and heritage in every spoonful. If you're a pho lover like me, or just looking to try something new, Phở Nhớ is an absolute must-try. Delicious, authentic, and utterly unforgettable!" 5/5 stars

Pretty cool and interesting pho shop. They have many awards and recognition. They are one of very few pho shops in Hanoi, and possibly all of Vietnamese that still serve pho with rice on the table for those who finish their pho, and want to add a bit extra. The Rice is free, and the concept is new and cool to me. But this concept is old and not common to see any more. Pretty cool place. Phở Bò Sốt Vang (Pho with stewed beef) It is similar to the Noodle with Stewed Beef or Bread with Stewed beef in HCMC: The bowl was so great with traditional flavor of HN Pho. You may enjoin them with a little fried dough sticks. Furthermore, if you like to dive further into VNese traditional flavor, you might try instant noodle instead of Pho noodle (VNese instant noodle has played an importance part during the war and the time that we win the war and being poor and hungry all the time) to understand a little more about VNese food. Sit next to me is a young boy who has ordered 2 load of instant noodle for a bowl of stewed beef, and a group of men who enjoin drinking beers while eating their bowls.

One of the best kept secrets of Old town Hanoi. The current owner is third generation of this family tradition. The Pho at first taste does not seem to be different from many others. But for the Pho lover in me, this is the best of pure Pho. No heavy flavor spice, no trace of MSG, no strong influence of any special technique or clever methods. Just plain old goodness from bone broth and genuine rice noodle. Fressh green onion, red peper, and well prepared cuts of beef. All that for an exceptional bowl of Pho priced at 35k. I can see a lot of hard work going into this bowl of Pho. And for that price, the owner of this place get my genuine respect. Note: this place is known mostly to locals, it has no sign, you just have to know where to find it. An old Hanoi senior took me to this place (I would not know how to find this on my own). Google can help: Pho Bo Oanh, 03 Ng. Thọ Xương, Hàng Trống, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội, Vietnam. Another note on service and atmostphere: The people are polite and welcoming, and they remember you and your order. I gave the place atmosphere 5-stars because it is authentic of old town atmosphere. This place is a local eatery for working people (many working in the big hosital nearby, e.g. doctors, nurses, etc.). Bistro
Xôi Xéo Lập thủy is a beloved comfort food in Hanoi, Vietnam. It consists of glutinous rice cooked with mung bean and turmeric powder, resulting in dense, vibrant yellow sticky rice. Typically wrapped in a banana leaf, it can be found at markets or street corners. When served in restaurants, it comes with various side dishes such as Vietnamese sausage, pate, and egg.
I ordered the basic ingredients with Sticky rice plus one egg. Sticky rice is only 20k VND and egg is 5k if I m not wrong. So so delicious. Totally my fav
Myo H — Google review
A little hole in the wall serving simple but amazing sticky rice. They have a variation of sticky rice and abundance of toppings which make every mouthful interesting.
Joshua V — Google review
One of the best sticky rice for breakfast in town. High recommended for local and foreign. Minimum price 20 thousands Dong come with onion fry and green bean slice. All ingredient wrap with banana leaf. Full option come with extra silk pork rolls 25 thousands Dong. You can try with green tea drink or soya. Totally raw food street experiences no fancy chair like restaurant

Great breakfast. Hard to order but very friendly people
Nam T — Google review
Dirt cheap (15k vnd) for a very satisfying breakfast. The seller does not speak English but will understand you're there for the signature dish. Heads up, this is not a restaurant, it's a woman and her husband selling sticky rice on a street. There are stools to sit though.

Pho restaurant
Phở Tự Tráng A Trà is a hidden gem in Hanoi's Ba Dinh neighborhood, away from the bustling tourist spots. This charming family-run eatery specializes in northern-style chicken pho that has quickly gained popularity among locals and visitors alike. The tender chicken served here is so delightful that you won't even think about spitting out any chewy bits!
Best Chicken Pho in town. Made their own Pho noodles in store. The true meaning of good food in unexpected place.
Perry N — Google review
They close much earlier than 1pm. So i would advise if you to go at least an hour ahead as i was turned away. Extremely disappointing as i travelled to that area to try their food. Anyways there are other excellent choices closer to the old quarter.

(Translated by Google) The shop is located in a slightly hidden corner so it's easy to pass by. Crispy chicken, delicious broth, ordering other toppings like soft eggs is also ok, poached eggs are top notch. The only criticism is that the dough is dry and the self-rolled cake is a bit hard for me 🥰 (Original) Quán nằm hơi khuất góc nên dễ bị đi qua. Gà giòn, nước dùng ngon, order thêm topping khác như trứng non lòng cũng ok, trứng trần đỉnh cao. Điểm chê duy nhất là quẩy sấy khô và bánh tự tráng với mình hơi cứng 🥰

Visitors can enjoy this unique street food amidst the bustling market atmosphere. The dish is highly recommended by locals for its delicious flavor and satisfying quality.
Great street food. Top three of best noodles in Vietnam. Great portion size. A bowl costs you 35K. I wanted to try this for lunch, but they seem to only be open at night.

Very fresh, and very tasty. They have 2 locations, at day they sell nearby Dong Xuan Market, in the afternoon the Hang Chieu stall opens.

Very good noodles. Generous portion of barbeque pork / char siu and nuts.
Catherine C — Google review
This place is very crowded and really a neat experience. The food is delicious and not like any Pho you have ever had before. There are motorbikes creeping past and the hustle and bustle of the market all day long. There are lots of types of cheap and delicious street food here to choose from!!!

The three sauces along with fresh herbs and perfect pork makes this noodle dish perfect. I had two bowls in one sitting.

Pork Pho type soup. They do one dish and they do it well. Sitting in stools in an alley by the market, very authentic feel.
Daniel P — Google review
I ate here 5 years ago in 2015, so things may have changed. But then, it was awesome. In the top 10 dishes I've ever had. (and i haven't limited my culinary experience to the buffet at Denny's.) It's a quintessential Vietnamese dish. Everything is in perfect balance. The elements of Vietnamese cuisine are all there, salty meat, spicy chilies, a light broth, bitter herbs, and sweet and sour nuoc cham. She lays it all out perfectly in this one bowl. It's deceivingly simple. A bowl of noodles, a couple slices of pork, a small ladle of broth, herbs and nuoc cham. Just .... damn.

It’s got to be almost impossible to make a vegan version of phở but this place will get you as close as you can without killing a cow or chicken. Pile some extra chilli, pepper and sauce into the broth and you’ll be in flavour heaven. We saw a cockfight in the park while walking down here

When you find yourself wandering the vibrant streets of Hanoi, don't miss out on trying Ốc Luộc, a delightful street snack that may not sound appealing at first but is truly a culinary gem. These snails are sourced from the countryside and undergo a meticulous cleaning process in rice-soaking water to ensure they’re fresh and ready for cooking. They are then boiled with aromatic ingredients like lemongrass, ginger, and lime leaves, resulting in a dish that's bursting with flavor.
