Coffee shop
Cafe Giảng, a historic coffee shop established in 1946 by Nguyen Giang, is renowned for its creation of the original egg coffee recipe. Located in Hanoi's Old Quarter on Nguyen Huu Huan Street, this old-school cafe offers the famous Egg Coffee at a more affordable price compared to larger establishments. The decadent beverage features a sweet topping made of whisked chicken egg yolk, Vietnamese powder, sweetened condensed milk, butter and cheese over strong coffee.
A culinary must-visit during your visit to Hanoi. A deep culinary history welcomes you to Cafe Giang as you sip the delicious , frothy egg-coffee, which had its origins in this very establishment. Prepare to expect a bit of rush, but they have multiple floors. We loved siting on the typical low stools & sipping our drinks. We loved the egg coffee, the lemonade was good too.

This place is easy to miss if one isn't looking properly. A quaint entrance led to the densely crowded cafe which on the inside is made of 2-3 floors. We ordered an egg coffee and a salted caramel coffee. Both the coffees were easily the best we have had in Hanoi so far. Thick, creamy, better than anything we've ever had or imagined. Would recommend to anyone in Hanoi ❤️
Poushalee D — Google review
Café Giảng offers an undeniably authentic piece of Hanoi history, as it is recognized as the original birthplace of the Egg Coffee stepping through the narrow, alleyway into the vintage, multi-level space is an essential part of the experience but its very crowded and noisy inside and not easy to find a place to sit . Regarding the actual drink, while the egg coffee is certainly nice and highly recommended for its creamy, rich texture—often compared to liquid tiramisu or meringue—you found that the taste experience was just "okay" and "not the best," despite its famous reputation. Ultimately, Giảng provides a mandatory cultural checkpoint for coffee lovers; visitors come not just for the best-tasting cup, but for the most authentic and first place to try the unique Hanoi staple. Pro (Authenticity): The original, most historic, and most authentic place for Egg Coffee. Pro (Atmosphere): Vintage, hidden alley setting offers a truly classic Hanoi experience. Con (Taste Subjectivity): The flavor profile is "okay" but may not be the "best" tasting cup compared to modern interpretations elsewhere.

We last visited Café Giang back in 2022, and today’s return confirmed two things. Hanoi’s Old Quarter remains endlessly charming, and this egg coffee is still a heavyweight contender for richest beverage on Earth. The cafe sits in its usual tucked-away corner, all atmosphere and nostalgia. Unfortunately, so does everyone else in Hanoi. The place was absolutely packed, and within minutes we found myself wondering whether the queue was actually part of the experience. The egg coffee arrived looking beautiful, silky, and deceptively innocent. One sip in, and it was exactly as I remembered, delicious in theory, dangerously indulgent in practice. It’s the kind of drink that whispers, “Go on, you’ll be fine,” while simultaneously settling in your stomach like it’s signing a long-term lease. To be fair, it is a classic. But by the time I finished, I was equal parts impressed and mildly concerned for my stomach Worth trying once, worth revisiting if you enjoy culinary brinkmanship. As for me, I’m giving it three stars, part admiration, part survival.

A popular spot among tourists because of its history. It’s located by the main road but tucked slightly inside a small alley, though the sign in front makes it easy to find. We ordered their famous egg coffee. Vietnam is known for its coffee, but I can honestly say that Giang Café serves the best one I had in Hanoi. The coffee doesn’t taste eggy at all — it’s creamy, sweet, smooth, and still rich in coffee flavor. I absolutely loved it! 🫶🏽 The service was friendly and fast, even with the crowd. A must-visit when you’re in Hanoi! 🤗

We visited an excellent café where we tried the famous Vietnamese egg coffee as well as their traditional Vietnamese coffee, and both were absolutely delicious. You can immediately tell the place is highly recommended—there were lots of locals and tourists enjoying their drinks. The flavors were rich and unique, and I personally loved both coffees. Despite how crowded it was, the service was impressively fast and very friendly. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and definitely a spot worth visiting if you want to taste authentic Vietnamese coffee.

A cultural piece of food history. At the birthplace of egg coffee you'll find a small menu a few pastries. It can get quite busy here, and, if you're a tourist, be aware that this place is also filled with tourists. Overall I would recommend going here to for the cultural aspect, but one visit will probably be enough
DM M — Google review
Good coffee known as the home of the egg coffee. The place however was extremely packed. We had no wait but it was like sardines in the place. Also IMO it is a famous internet spot but we had better egg coffee at other places but this one was the thicknest of them all but I felt not the best. Having said that better than any coffee I have ever had in the entire USA.

Cafe
Coffee shop
Cafe Dinh is a popular spot for egg coffee enthusiasts who prefer a more peaceful environment compared to the crowded Giang Cafe. It was established by a member of the same family behind Giang Cafe, offering its own version of the famous egg coffee with slightly different ingredient ratios. The cafe also serves regular coffee, tea, and juices at reasonable prices. Located near Hoan Kiem Lake, it offers a lakeside view and an old-style ambiance with a small seating area.
It was great experience to have an egg coffee at this place. Her father invented the egg coffee and it was great. Once you step in you will be back to an era of 80’s the place is preserved as it was and its great vibe. They only serve the coffees and drinks and no food.
Singh G — Google review
It's must visit place for the famous egg coffee of Hanoi. It is one of the oldest joint almost 80 years old. Infact coffee was so good that we had to visit the shop again during our short trip.
Madhuri S — Google review
Best egg coffee in Hanoi! Went here on an authentic food tour, and the drinks were so beautifully prepared and SUPER delicious! If you don’t want coffee, they can make them with hot chocolate instead!
Adrienne — Google review
Lovely place with authentic feeling located centrally. The egg coffee was delicious, and only costs 30K which is nice considering many other places nearby charge 50-60K. On the second visit we were served by an older man who almost looked proud whilst we first sipped the coffee, which felt wholesome. Highly recommended!
Melv — Google review
Egg coffee? This is the place you should go! I recommend this to those who wants to try or wants to find a good egg coffee. The place is a bit hard to find as it is small and you need to go inside a small area and climbed up the stairs to reach the actual cafe. The place is cozy and feel like a traditional Vietnamese home. The seat and the tables are low profile and it might not be comfortable for some. They serve also other types of coffee if you like but I highly suggest to order their egg coffee.

this year when i came back they opened the ground floor area. but i'm still more familiar with the first floor, not much has changed on this floor. the egg coffee is still fatty and the coffee is delicious. cozy space and lots of old photos of hanoi.

Beautiful and tasty egg coffee. Ordered the hot egg coffee which arrived very quickly. Service was polite and efficient, not pushy. Affordable pricing. Sat upstairs with authentic/rustic atmosphere. Seating also available downstairs.
Elisa R — Google review
A Hidden Retreat for Egg Coffee Lovers Cafe Dinh is a delightful escape from the Hanoi heat, offering a cozy haven to savor a delicious cup of egg coffee. Located on the second floor of an old building, the narrow staircase adds to its charm. The seating is typical Hanoi style – small and low – but plentiful, with fans and a bit of air conditioning providing a welcome respite from the heat. A few outdoor patio seats cater to smokers. While the journey up the stairs might require a bit of caution, the reward is a peaceful ambiance perfect for relaxing with a cup of their renowned egg coffee. A must-visit for anyone seeking a unique coffee experience in Hanoi!

Nestled in a crumbling French-colonial house, Loading T Café is a hidden gem located at the border of the French Quarter and Hanoi Old Quarter. The café's quiet atmosphere and fast internet make it an ideal spot for both work and leisure. Its vintage furniture, patterned flooring, and plant-filled corners exude old-world charm, creating an authentic ambiance.
Tucked away in a quiet alley of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, this cozy little café feels like a step into a dreamy Parisian corner. Soft French music plays in the background, vintage wooden furniture fills the space, and warm lighting creates an inviting, intimate vibe. The star here is the egg coffee — rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. It’s one of the best we’ve tasted in the city. The avocado smoothie is equally impressive: smooth, lightly sweet, and refreshingly unique. A perfect spot to relax, escape the crowds, and soak in the charm of old Hanoi with a touch of French soul.

A hidden gem tucked away in a charming old house, offering a cozy and nostalgic vibe that feels like stepping into old Hanoi. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with vintage decor, wooden furniture, and soft lighting that perfectly complements the experience. Their coffee is amazing—highly recommend the iced coconut coffee! It’s incredibly refreshing with just the right balance of coconut flavor—not too overpowering, just perfect. The yoghurt coffee, on the other hand, is a bit too rich for my taste, but it might be a hit for those who love indulgent flavors. A delightful spot to relax and soak in the charm of Hanoi while enjoying a great cup of coffee!

best egg coffee in hanoi!!!! we had to go back another time within the same day just to satisfy our cravings! the egg coffee is super creamy unlike the others. defo highly recc and not to be missed!! we also saw a cat that was there the both times we were there! its on the second floor opposite pame coffee

This was probably our favorite cafe on our trip to Hanoi food wise. We originally checked out this place because of how many times we heard online that this was the spot with the tastiest egg coffee, which they were not over hyping at all. This place felt slightly hidden since from the street we couldn't see any Loading T cafe signage so we entered a building that looked the most similar to the google photos which required us to climb up some stairs and enter the building before seeing anything indicating this was indeed Loading T cafe. The cafe had a chill vibe that felt like stepping into another time. The staff were very kind and welcoming, after taking our order they gave us complimentary water and tea. And I will confirm yet again the iced egg coffee was soooo good. Walked in for a taste and couldn't leave without buying another one as well as their cacao egg cream. These drinks were truly delicious we ordered them for takeaway and just couldn't help but stay a while longer enjoying the atmosphere while savoring the drinks. We also greatly appreciated how when ordering the egg coffees they give you a paper that explains the best way to experience drinking the egg coffee so that it taste the best. It's also important to know that when drinking the regular egg coffee or the cacao egg cream they are meant to be drunk in different ways which we discovered by having one of the servers so kindly correct us on how to appropriately drink the cacao egg cream. 10/10 very much worth the hype!!
Marisa R — Google review
A lovely tucked away haven in the middle of Hanoi. The building is a reclaimed old colonial structure, with no visible signs outside of the cafe’s whereabouts. It feels like a “if you know, you know” kind of find. After weeks in Vietnam and dozens of egg coffees, I can firmly say this place does it best. The egg cream is also so marshmallow like in texture and flavour with subtle cinnamon to add depth. The servers are always so gracious and kind. There’s just a beautiful atmosphere. I’ve been here every morning for almost a week and I’m still blown away every time!
Rebecca L — Google review
It's located near the Michelin guide Pho. It's kinda hidden in an old building, you have to follow the stairs to reach the cafe. It's kinda homey inside, not too many tables but full of people. Ordered 3 coffees, the Iced Egg Coffee, Yogurt Coffee and Coconut Coffee. The Coconut Coffee is blended, very good in a hot weather. Forgot to take a picture of the Iced Egg Coffee because it's done in like 5 minutes 😂 Overall it's a good coffee. But do bear in mind they're a bit crowded and it's not a lot of table available, so it's not a place to sit around for a long time.
Melody S — Google review
Like a step back in time, Loading T offers a slower pace, that is if you can find it. Look through a rusty gate, go left up a crumbling stone staircase, then at the top, chose to sit left or right, as straight ahead is another shop. The atmosphere is an eclectic collection of furnishings with a hippie feel. We had the egg coffee and the black coffee. And although we've had better, we appreciated the totality of the experience.
R K — Google review
I had this little cafe recommended by a friend who visited Vietnam before. And I am so glad I went there! I do not think I would have found it otherwise,it is a little hidden. I had egg coffee there and it was delicious. My friends tried different things and they were all happy with what they got :) the atmosphere was very relaxed there!

Cafe Lâm 1962 is a charming street-side café that captures the essence of Hanoi with its rich history and artistic flair. Renowned for its aromatic coffee, particularly the unique egg coffee, this spot offers a delightful experience for coffee lovers. The café's walls are adorned with beautiful paintings from celebrated Vietnamese artists like Bui Xuan Phai and To Ngoc Van, adding to its cultural ambiance.
First taste of the famous vietnamese egg coffee. You should try it here, they make a really tasty one 😁

I came there early on a rainy morning and I was one of the first customers they have. It gave an oldschool, slow, and quiet vibe amidst the chaos of the old quarter. I researched and learned about the story behind the pictures on the walls (which were all painted by the top famous Vietnamese painters) and was amazed. The coffee was good, but not too special.

This café has a little history according to our guide who says that the owner gave credit to painters who paid him from time to time in paintings 🤔Legend or truth? I don't know. The Note Coffee is a charming café located in the heart of Hanoi's Old Quarter, just north of Hoan Kiem Lake. This quirky spot has gained popularity for its vibrant and Instagram-worthy interior adorned with colorful post-it notes left by customers since 2012. The café spans four cozy stories, each covered in layers of customer-written notes, creating a unique and lively atmosphere.
Very unique concept where you can leave a mark, read others notes while enjoying drinks and cakes and cozy atmosphere, very friendly staffs and taking in the lake view just across the road and Hanoi’s street activity. Also, baked goodies are so good! 😋our favorite is the cheesecake so divine! and the coconut coffee frappe is so creamy and delicious especially if you don’t like very strong coffee flavor. If you’re going to Hanoi this coffee shop is worth the visit!

What a great and unusual place to visit. We loved this cafe with it's quirky gimmick. Order your drinks, climb the winding staircase, find a table on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor, the waiter will find you! Then grab a note from one of the many baskets, and start writing away. Peel the back off, and stick your thoughts, memories, tributes to the wall. The drinks were great and my red velvet cake hit the mark. The atmosphere was tremendous and the location is simply amazing. The window views stretch over the busy roads to the expansive lake. What a spot.

A unique and memorable coffee shop! I talked with one of the staff members and she told me that this place has existed for only 13 years — but judging by the amount of notes on the walls, it feels like it’s been here for 50! The notes come from people all around the world, which makes the atmosphere truly amazing in my opinion. The location is also perfect, just next to the lake, so if you are walking around it’s a lovely spot to stop and enjoy your coffee ☕️ My little son even wrote a note for his own future children, saying that one day he will come back here with them. That moment made the visit even more special for us. Highly recommended!

Cool place to sip a coffee beside the hoan kiem lake. This place is unique for its sticky notes all over the cafe. Tried the coconut coffee which is their best seller. It was just good not extraordinary 7/10 for taste. Egg coffee and egg cocoa were excellent.
Ramdas P — Google review
This place was so great when we visited Hanoi, from the guy outside shouting ‘fresh coffee, fruit juice’ to the decor this place is amazing. I had the mint frappe and my partner had the iced coffee and it’s safe to save we returned at least 3 - 4 times during our stop in Hanoi and would recommend it to anyone. There is about 4/5 floors and I would definitely say it’s worth going up to explore.
Daniel T — Google review
Following IG post, I didn’t expect nice drinks here but surprisingly my orders are. The decorative is unique, all the notes placed there, able to get us a beautiful lake view at night. Staffs are not so friendly.
Khanh L — Google review
The Note Coffee in Hanoi wasn’t exactly about the egg coffee for me — honestly, it didn’t feel like the real deal (and I didn’t even get to take a photo of it). But what stood out was the vibe of the place. There’s something beautifully nostalgic about being surrounded by colorful notes from people all over the world — little stories, confessions, and wishes scribbled on bits of paper. It reminded me of old times, of serendipity, and of how connected strangers can feel through simple words left behind. A cozy stop for the heart, more than the palate.
Mai ( — Google review
a funny concept with all the notes. The interesting part is the building/room’s itself with all the notes of the people. Who is expecting a Comfortable and super clean cafe with best coffee in town is wrong here. Coffee is nothin special, there are better options in hanoi. UPDATE after having some more and different egg coffee: the quality and taste of the egg coffee is really not good in comparison to others. Service was okay, nothing outstanding. Prices are a little more than other normal cafes. It’s a tourist attraction ;)

Cafe
When in Hanoi, you can't miss out on trying the famous Hanoi Egg Coffee, a unique local specialty. One of the best places to enjoy this delicacy is at Giang Cafe, located in the bustling Old Quarter. The exact recipe is a well-kept secret, but it typically includes egg yolks, Vietnamese coffee, sweetened condensed milk, butter, and cheese. Despite initial skepticism about combining raw egg with coffee, many are pleasantly surprised by its delicious taste.
We found their coffee workshop as a last minute activity to kill some time before our flight, and it ended up being one of the best parts of our trip! Our instructor Bella was the best and she made the class so fun and educational! As someone who was new to coffee making as a whole, I walked out of the class feeling confident and excited to make egg coffee for my friends and family at home. We’d love to come back and try their cooking class next time, hopefully with Bella as the instructor as well!

We had such a lovely coffee class with Vy today! It was so informative and so much fun to learn about the different coffee types. Everyone who loves coffee should definitely go there and do a class. We also got a Bahn mi as a Snack and it was so good. Thank you so much vy! 🫶🏻

Small egg coffee shop with lots of range located in the heart of Hanoi. The iced egg coffee was good. The egg portion has good flavour and texture. The consistency was a little runny but nothing to be upset about. A straw would have been helpful. The coffee portion was a little bitter but again, nothing to hate for. Overall, good coffee, good price, about 50K. The staff were very friendly and attentive. First customers of the day and they were more than happy to accommodate us. The shop does have a mould smell and it is cooled by fans primarily. Nothing unusual for smaller Vietnamese shops. Worth a try if you’re close by.

Went here for the famous egg coffee! I'd heard about it but never tried it, being an egg and coffee lover and to see the two combined, fascinated me, and I can whole heartedly say! Yes it definitely works!! I had the rum egg coffee, and it kicked a punch, it was delicious creamy and rum strong, 😋 I'll definitely be looking out for similar cafés to try other flavours, as for Hanoi egg coffee cafe, it's a decent place, staff speak good English are very friendly and definitely serve a great egg coffee

I gave their egg coffee rum a try, and it was quite enjoyable, especially with that unique rum flavor. However, for food, items were bought from other street vendors nearby and served. I heard they also offer cooking classes and coffee-making classes, which could be interesting.

Cafe Năng Tường is a popular spot for experiencing authentic Vietnamese coffee culture. The café is situated in a bustling area and is always filled with locals enjoying their daily dose of caffeine. The traditional Vietnamese coffee served here is known for its bold and slightly heavy flavor, making it perfect for those who appreciate a strong cup of joe. With its affordable prices, this café offers an excellent opportunity to savor local coffee without breaking the bank.
good place for having very cheap local coffee. opens very early in the morning, you can see local ppl enjoying their chilling time with coffee before going to work.

Nestled in the vibrant Hoan Kiem District, Lều Coffee & Bar is a hidden gem that beautifully marries the worlds of coffee and cocktails. The star of the show is undoubtedly their signature egg coffee—a rich concoction that combines robust coffee with creamy egg yolk and sweet whipped cream, creating an aromatic experience that's simply irresistible.
Servers friendly and helpful. We were a couple who wanted to check out Tạ Hiện but also wanted to chat with one another. Lều Bar provided the exact vibe for that - had a few beers on the second floor overlooking busy walking street below and had a great chill time. The top floor is reserved for karaoke. I highly recommend! We went back to it at the end of the night because we enjoyed it that much!
Skye N — Google review
Best bar on this street! Hiding on the second floor bar with a great view that keep you turned into the party but at the same time a bit aside of it, giving the comfort and amazing view. Pho Cocktail is marked as must try and it really is! Perfect show of the cocktail making and trying it at all 3 different stages makes it unique not only for this street, but for the experience in general. Perfect place!
Karina F — Google review
Amazing bar just off the busy beer corner. It's like a speakeasy. You go up some crooked stairs and then it's a beautiful two level bar and a balcony. We sat on the balcony and watched the people walk by which is lovely. It's also a nice spot if you want to get away from the chaos of the street below for a bit. Lovely decor and music. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend a visit.

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS AND VIOLENTS! I entered this bar in the evening, at the end of the evening the barmaid brought me a bill of more or less 170 euros! The great thing is that I have never ordered anything! In the On my account there were 35 air balloons (????) but I refused to pay (if I had really taken all that stuff I would have paid without any problems, but then again I didn't order anything) the barmaid physically attacked me supported by 5 guys from the bar(he put his hands on me at neck) and prevented from leaving the premises! In the end I had to pay because I could lose my health!! AVOID THIS PLACE, THEY SCAM, I HOPE THEY CLOSE SOON!!

Lovely little bar! We went into this lovely little bar so that we could sit on the lantern lit balcony over looking the street. Service was great and the atmosphere was lovely both inside and out! Easy to miss this one in the crazy surroundings of the backpacker vibe at street level but worth the effort. With the quaint staircase and small doorway I would describe the effect as speakeasy like if it was not for the man on the street trying to advertise it! Love :)

Do not go here. This place charged me and my husband 8 times. 5 using both our credit cards, 2 using our debits, and one with cash. They said that it didn’t went through when we literally showed them all the receipts. They keep on saying it still says “Processing” on the app but that’s how all of our credit cards work and after the store claimed the payment, it would go through. Even when I showed them the transactions from my debit and my husband’s business debit, they denied the payment. I do not recommend going here. Edit: Like I mentioned, they charged our debits too and won’t acknowledge the fact that it’s already been deducted from our accounts. (We showed them the transaction history) And now that we’re leaving Vietnam, they’re not responding anymore. It isn’t the $20 they charged us 8 times, it’s the fact that they don’t even see the weight of this matter because what if it isn’t just $20?

Cafe
Nestled on Hang Gai, Cafe Phố Cổ offers stunning views of Hoan Kiem Lake. Finding this hidden gem involves passing through a silk and trinket shop to reach a courtyard filled with shrines and singing birds. Ascend the cast-iron spiral staircase to various floors where you can savor freshly-squeezed fruit juice while enjoying unparalleled vistas above the hustle and bustle of Hanoi.
Such a cool hole in the wall type cafe. Walking through the store and into the cafe feels like a Narnia experience and the cafe has such cool vibes. There are four different levels that you can sit and each of them have a different vibe. We sat on the rooftop, which had a nice breeze and a good view of the lake. The coconut coffee was absolutely delicious and I loved the touch of roasted coconut bits that gave it a nice crunch.
Emica R — Google review
Finding the place was a bit tricky as it’s located inside a shop—you have to walk through it to reach the café. The entrance is narrow, and you need to climb steep steps to get to the seating area, which is in an older building. Once you’re up there, the view of the city is quite nice, especially for tourists. We did face some confusion while placing the order, which was a bit frustrating. The overall experience was just okay. I wasn’t entirely happy, especially compared to visits with family elsewhere. The coffee, including their signature egg coffee, was standard, but not quite like the one I had at MET.

Nice cafe nestled in the back of a store. It's a thing about the old quarter here in Hanoi, it seems there are establishments hidden down tiny alleys and at the back of shops. Place looks like a done up version of an actual dwelling. Decor and format looks very similar to that in Peranakan culture, probably reflecting the heavy Chinese influence in Vietnamese culture. While ground and 2nd and 3rd floor seating is available, this cafe relies heavily on the roof view of Hoan Kien Lake for it's appeal, and this was not lost upon me. Counter staff quickly escaped however, after seeing me, causing me to be unable to leave my luggage at the counter. Had to lug it up 3-4 stories to the roof. Very narrow steps, so it was awkward to lug my luggage up the stairs. Would have the liked if the staff were more helpful. On the roof, two women who appeared to be cafe staff also hogged the lake view and refused to move. Granted, it was late in the day. Drinks were nice but pricey for Vietnam. With all that said, had a nice time in this cafe, though improvements could have been made.

Finding Cafe Pho Co is an adventure in itself, tucked away behind a "silkie handmade shop" and requiring a climb through a narrow alley and several flights of stairs that feel more like an antique shop. But this journey is undoubtedly part of its charm. Once you arrive, you're immediately immersed in an unforgettable experience. This cafe truly is a hidden gem, offering a perfect blend of rustic charm and breathtaking panoramic views. Perched high above, it often overlooks Hoan Kiem Lake and the surrounding ancient rooftops, providing an ideal escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The ambiance inside is wonderfully traditional and cozy, transporting you back in time with its old-world charm—it genuinely feels like stepping into a piece of Hanoi's history. And when it comes to the highly recommended egg coffee, you won't be disappointed. While many cafes in Hanoi offer this specialty, Cafe Pho Co's version stands out as one of the best in the city. Rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced, it's a must-try.

A hidden gem in Hanoi. I almost missed the place as it’s hidden behind the cloth shop. You can go upstairs to see the view and there is an AC area as well. We ordered iced coconut coffee and avocado smoothie and love both. Not too sweet and refreshing. Recommended to sit and relax here a bit especially during such hot afternoon😅
Sukhumarn ( — Google review
Tucked away down a little alley (as are lots of cafes in Hanoi), this cafe was lovely to sit at after a day of walking around. Very quaint and looks like a repurposed house maybe with lots of greenery to sit and relax especially on the middle level. Top floor had a great view of the lake! Ordered yoghurt w mango & avo (never had this combo before) and was very refreshing. Yoghurt wasn’t too sweet (sometimes yoghurt here is way too sweet especially w fresh fruit). Avo super creamy and mango nice a tangy!

AMAZING hidden gem. This place is nestled at the back of a sewing shop up a set of stairs. There are a few levels bf each is decorated beautifully with art and plants and antiques. If you go the top you get a fantastic view of the lake and over the city. It was so great we went twice in the 2 days we were in the city. Their salt and coconut coffee are amazing. It is a must see if you want a quaint quiet spot in Hanoi. Very reasonable prices for coffees too! Highly recommend!

Hidden Gem Coffee is a charming and delightful coffeehouse that lives up to its name. Tucked away in the old town, it offers a beautiful space and delicious coffee. The entrance may be a bit tricky to find, but once you spot the alley with a dragonfly made of recycled bottles, you're on the right track. As you ascend upstairs, the serene ambiance shields you from the bustling street below. The café's peaceful and relaxing energy makes it an ideal spot for unwinding.
After following up with social media recommendations, we landed at this place for breakfast, & we loved this place, hands down. This is quite a place which has been tastefully curated using various recycled materials & the decor is awesome to say the least. The food here surpasses the expectations. We loved the Chicken Banh Mie, which was delicious, fresh with fluffy breads. The watermelon juice tasted equally good. Service was fast & responsive. A must visit , VFM place & dont forget to click as many pics as you can for your instagram , fb et al.

We visited here twice while in Hanoi. The spring rolls were fresh and tasty. We had egg coffee hot, salt coffee hot and iced and coconut coffee iced and blended. All of the coffee was strong and full bodied. My favourite was the coconut coffee blended. The venues dining area is set over 3 floors with so many small different areas to sit which makes atmosphere was fantastic. All of the furniture and Decor is made of repurposed and recycled items and is so clever.

A true hidden gem in Hanoi’s Old Quarter! You walk through a narrow hallway, head upstairs, and suddenly you’re in this super picturesque coffee shop. The vibe is cozy, unique, and perfect for taking photos — our group definitely took a lot! They also have a small shop inside selling bags and cute souvenirs, which was a nice touch. The coffees were amazing — we ordered the salted coffee, egg coffee, and blended chocolate ice, and all of them were delicious. The only miss was the pineapple juice; it tasted like canned Dole juice with extra sugar, so I wouldn’t recommend that one. Overall, we’d 100% come back here if we’re in Hanoi again. Great drinks, great decor, and such a charming hidden spot! Staff were also very helpful and recommended us which drinks were better served hot/cold. And it didn’t took them long to bring our drinks upstairs!

Found this place on TikTok and it turned out to be the best discovery! The food was delicious — I had a vegan Banh My, vegan spring rolls, an egg coffee, and a lime & butterfly pea flower juice for a really reasonable price. I ended up spending a lot of time here — it’s perfect whether you just want a quick lunch or a cozy spot to hang out. The service was amazing, everyone was so kind, and Sindy and Quan were the sweetest! 💗 Highly recommend this place

I visited Hidden Gem Cafe in Hanoi as part of a food tour and it was such a great experience. I tried the Vietnamese spring rolls, summer rolls, banh mi, and vegan rice noodles, and everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. The coconut coffee tasted more like a milkshake and was surprisingly good, even though I don’t normally drink coffee. What makes this place extra special is that it is built almost entirely from recycled materials, which is really cool. The atmosphere, food, and value make it a spot I highly recommend.
Lydia C — Google review
Cool, Hipster, eclectic cafe store which is much much bigger on the inside then in first look of the small entrance. The place is full with unique furniture that seems like they were made from recycling materials. like shoes as a pot for plants and lighting cover made of water bottle. As for the food they have some vegan option which is nice. I've ordered a vegan banana & chocolate smoothie that was just ok.. the presentation look kinda sloppy and it was messy on the sides, and taste wise it felt more like a banana milk then a smoothie. I guess people mostly visit the place for the cool atmosphere and chic decoration.

Hotel
Nestled in the heart of Hanoi's French Quarter, the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is a stunning neoclassical hotel that exudes elegance and history. Since its grand opening in 1901, this iconic establishment has been a haven for celebrities and dignitaries alike, from literary giants like Somerset Maugham to Hollywood legends such as Charlie Chaplin.
We were blown away by the service from check-in right through to check out. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary in Vietnam starting with Hanoi. Upon check-in I was greeted with a bouquet of roses and my husband and I with a ‘happy anniversary’ and welcome drinks. Throughout the stay we felt accommodated. We stayed on the old side of the hotel which was always kept clean and filled with fresh flowers which is something I personally appreciated. We also appreciated the rich history of the hotel by reading up on famous and notable figures that have either stayed or visited the hotel from their history wall. It was a great location for food and shopping and close to the Hoan Kiem lake. We will definitely return and stay here on our next trip to Hanoi!
Beverly B — Google review
We’ve stayed at quite a few Sofitels around the world, and we can honestly say this one is hands down the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the level of service blew us away. The staff were consistently attentive, not just polite, but intuitive and genuinely helpful. Every small request was dealt with swiftly and with a smile. The butler service was exceptional: it felt personal, seamless and truly five-star. Whether it was arranging transfers, organising in-room requests, or simply anticipating what we might need next, the butler team made a big difference. The hotel itself is an all-rounder: beautiful historic architecture, a superb location in Hanoi’s French Quarter, immaculate rooms and excellent amenities. We particularly enjoyed the sense of calm and elegance the moment we stepped into the lobby and garden courtyard. The breakfasts were outstanding, the dining options top notch, and the ambiance exuded luxury without being overly showy. In short: if you’re looking for a hotel in Hanoi that ticks every box, heritage charm + modern luxury + outstanding service: this is it. We will definitely return. Highly recommended.

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by reception and our butler, Mikey. Our room—upgraded upon arrival—was not yet ready, so we were offered champagne while Mikey entertained us and shared excellent recommendations for the area. He also gave us a private tour of the Path to History and bomb shelter, since we were only staying one night and couldn’t join the full hotel tour. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and attentive. The hotel was spotless and perfectly located. The breakfast spread was incredible. If you’re looking for a personalized, luxury stay, look no further. My only regret is not being able to stay longer.
Emily A — Google review
From the moment we arrived at the Sofitel Metropole Hanoi, we were enveloped in timeless elegance and genuine hospitality. The doormen greeted us with warm smiles and were eager to assist with our luggage, immediately setting the tone for what would be an extraordinary stay. Their attentiveness even extended to our departure day, when they went above and beyond to help our driver locate the hotel and ensure a seamless send-off—an example of the hotel’s impeccable service from start to finish. At check-in, we were warmly welcomed by Ms. Do Thu Ha, the Guest Relations Supervisor, whose professionalism and kindness made a wonderful first impression. She took the time to explain all the details of our stay and thoughtfully offered us the option to have our rooms grouped together or receive a complimentary upgrade to the Heritage Wing. Her attention to detail and genuine care made us feel immediately at home. Throughout our stay, the concierge team—especially Ms. Trần Thị Mai—was unparalleled. She patiently answered all our questions about the hotel and the city, offered insightful suggestions for how to make the most of a rainy afternoon, and even tracked down how to more of the delicious dried mangoes stocked in our room. Her enthusiasm and sincerity elevated our experience and reflected the heart of Vietnamese hospitality. While the hotel itself is a marvel—rich in history, beautifully preserved architecture, and an atmosphere that effortlessly blends French colonial charm with Hanoi’s cultural soul—it is the people who bring the Metropole to life. Every corner of the property radiates warmth, grace, and the quiet luxury that only a truly legendary hotel can offer. Our stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi was not just comfortable, but unforgettable. The team’s professionalism, kindness, and attention to every detail ensured that our experience was as elegant as the hotel itself. We left with not only beautiful memories but also deep appreciation for the staff who made our time there so special. Thank you, Sofitel Metropole Hanoi, for an exceptional stay—we cannot wait to return!!!

Of coz all other girls as well. They all so pleasant. We enjoyed so much here for a night and sure this was one of our best memories.

Great hotel and the history behind it. The courtyard is nice providing outdoor spaces. Pool is rather small. Rooms and wardrobe are generally smaller than others but comfortable. Breakfast is great but during the stay, there are a lot of tour group staying which can be hectic in the morning and at the lifts.
Sunnyside U — Google review
Best hotel I have stayed in worldwide. From the moment we stepped out of our car the service was personal and thoughtful. Concierge gave us a private tour of the bunker below the hotel even though the tours for the day were full. We were also upgraded to a suite at no charge since we were only staying one night. Historical, beautiful, elegant, and a staff to match!
Zach P — Google review
One of the oldest and most consequential hotel in Asia, the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is the only hotel in Vietnam to have its own bunker, constructed during the war to protect the hundreds dignitaries it has hosted since 1901; from Fidel Castro, Trump, and Kim Jong Un, to Charlie Chaplin and “Nick Fury”, its “who’s who” list stretches miles. Today, this living museum continues to deliver the highest level of hospitality. Every staff we encountered strikes that perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. Despite us arriving late at night, our check in and welcome experience went wayyyyy beyond expectations. The only downside to the Metropole is its compact design. Despite the tasteful interior, due to its heritage and historic architecture, spaces are stuffy when compared to modern luxury hotels. But, isn’t it the excitement of living in history?

Egg Coffee, a popular Vietnamese drink, is made with espresso, sugar, condensed milk, and egg yolks. Some variations may include cheese and other secret ingredients. This creamy beverage can be found in cozy cafes near Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi. While some visitors find it challenging to locate these hidden gems tucked away in alleyways, the delicious egg coffee and delightful ambiance make the search worthwhile.
This place is amazing, coffee was good although took a while to be made. There is about 4 levels to this place including the rooftop with lake views. Definitely worth a visit, I feel like this cafe should be viral on tiktok!

Fantastic place to enjoy an authentic Hanoi egg coffee. Twenty steps into an alleyway and you can hardly hear the beep of a horn. Walk through alleyway of the clothes shop at number 11 and you are here
Brett C — Google review
Me and my partner were recommended to come visit this place. We found it a bit hard to locate as it was down a little alleyway which looked a bit sketchy but as soon as you walked down i recognised the terrace as shown in the picture attached. We had to order what we wanted down stairs and pay for the egg coffee we ordered. We then had to find seating ourselves. We went up a few flights of stairs until we finally found some free chairs in the upper level. About 10mins after ordering they delivered my egg coffee. I was unable to finish my coffee as it was very heavy on the stomach. It was delicious, however it felt almost too thick and creamy. All in all, it’s a beautiful place to sit and relax and enjoy the views.

All Day Coffee is a delightful cafe exuding European charm with its deep red-brown exterior and distinctive domed windows reminiscent of London streets. Inside, the cozy ambiance is complemented by bright lighting, pleasant music, and comfortable padded wooden seats. While some visitors praise the delicious coconut cakes and quality drinks, others express concerns about rising prices and limited parking.
Excellent service and awesome coffee. Enjoyed my brunch very much. Service staff was very attentive and friendly - a huge contrast to other cafes i've visited during my multiple visits to Hanoi. Will definitely drop by again!

Fantastic egg coffee, one of the best I tried in Hanoi. I cannot say the same for the food, the multi grain slices were dry and tasted old, the toast slices were too dry and the eggs too cooked. The staff is nice and very well trained, and the space is big and lovely. For sure a nice space where to work a little while enjoying your coffee.

Lovely and cosy coffee shop. Limited seat especially on the weekends so be prepared. The beverages are exceptional, highly recommend the egg coffee and the coffees in general. The staffs are very friendly and supportive, the rooms are well-designed and decorated, suitable for pictures.

Service is similar to what coffee shops would offer , but everything is overpriced. We had two eggs coffee, one ice americano and one flat white for 320k++ dong. Egg coffee tasted very weird because they added honey I think. Definitely not worth paying 80k dong per coffee on average.

If you're searching for a serene escape in the bustling city of Hanoi, look no further than Tranquil Books & Coffee. This charming café offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere that feels like a warm hug, perfect for unwinding or diving into your favorite book. With an impressive selection of literature to browse through, it’s an ideal spot for both relaxation and productivity.
Totally nice experience. Cozy, chill, and TRANQUIL. I’d say the only thing I missed was music ambience. Low volume but silence is also an option. Price for the large portion of waffles of 90k is more than fair. Absolutely not overpriced. Parking is available. Space is great for photoshooting, especially in the late evenings. The atmosphere is unlike any regular coffeeshops in Hanoi. Def a must visit if you wanna pinterest-style desserts. Not oversweet, just right enough. Complimentary water is there as well. Wish the team success

A Well known café chain, obviously popular with the locals. Good range of both beverages and good options It's not particularly cheap but worth a go. The interior (downstairs )and lighting remind me of those diners back in the 60s. I just cant love the space between tables upstairs more 🙏🫣 Grab a spot upstairs if you look for a chill corner to work in.

In full-on Hanoi, a city not known for peace and quiet, Tranquil Books & Coffee lives up to its name - offering an oasis of calm, fine music and great coffee in a cosy, inviting atmosphere. So quietly sophisticated is this urban retreat one feels like it could be in the Left Bank in Paris. There is a limited, but well-chosen menu, plus a wine and beer fridge stocked with fine IPA craft ales and crisp chardonnays and rieslings. The staff are all unfailingly helpful and courteous. So when you are feeling burnt out and frazzled from the urban noise and madness of the Old Quarter, I recommend a measured retreat to the Tranquil. They have four branches across Hanoi.

I’ve been here many times. This is absolutely my go-to spot whenever I want to work outside. I love their matcha latte most. What excites me the most is how, in the evening, they turn off the main lights and switch on a small lamp at each table. It creates such a cozy and chill atmosphere. Highly recommend 🫶🏻

Chill vibes and atmosphere. At night it turns into a bar with Jpop playing. Ordered a non-alcoholic Pandan Colada and loved the fragrance of the drink.

I have been a fan since 2018. The atmosphere is truly amazing, cozy and welcoming. The drinks are just fine. However, I absolutely love that they have a great selection of books. The tables are well-suited for work. The service here is also nice, with friendly and attentive staff. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great ambiance and nice service. Drink 8/10

Cong Caphe is a popular local cafe chain in Vietnam known for its trademark coconut coffee, which is a blend of coffee, condensed milk, and coconut milk. The cafe also offers other drinks like white coffee, coconut milk with mung bean, and coconut milk with green rice. The nostalgic Communist-era aesthetic of the cafes includes traditional Vietnamese coffeehouse furniture and decor featuring images of Lenin and Mao. Despite being a chain, Cong Caphe's coconut coffee stands out as a must-try beverage.
Excellent cafe The coconut coffee is fabulous with just the right amount of coffee. Excellent service and atmosphere There are three floors so go up and explore if downstairs is busy.

Good place to have tea or coffee opposite the Church. Downside is they don’t have real cinnamon being a world chain. They use Cassia which is smell and flavor like cinnamon but gives right opposite of health benefits. In fact it harms your body. Specially liver. Also research found out that it cause liver cancer as well. So no matter the taste of you are not using real ingredients I can’t give a honest review. Also when I ask them to show me the cinnamon they use they were reluctant to show me as if they also know what they are doing is wrong. Anyway you can have anything else except cinnamon tea I guess.

Cong Caphe, Vietnam Cong Caphe is a highly popular Vietnamese coffee chain renowned for its unique "Communist Chic" or "War-era" themed decor and its signature Coconut Coffee. Signature Drinks and Menu: While Cong Caphe offers a wide range of coffee concoctions, teas, juices, and even some light food items like Bánh Mì and snacks, their Coconut Coffee is the undisputed star and a must-try. This refreshing drink combines the boldness of Vietnamese coffee with the creamy sweetness of coconut milk, often blended with ice to create a delightful slushie-like consistency. Other popular coconut-based drinks include Coconut Cocoa, Coconut Mung Bean, and Coconut Green Rice smoothies. Beyond the coconut series, the menu includes various Vietnamese coffee styles such as: * Cà Phê Sữa Đá (Iced Milk Coffee) * Cà Phê Đen Nóng (Hot Black Coffee) * Cà Phê Sữa Chua (Coffee with Yogurt) * Vina-Cano (Vietnamese Americano) and Vina-Latte They also offer a selection of snacks like spring rolls, croissants with condensed milk, and bánh mì with condensed milk. Pricing: Cong Caphe is generally considered to be on par with Western-style coffee shops in terms of pricing, being slightly more expensive than traditional Vietnamese street coffee, but still offering good value for the quality and experience. Overall Experience: Cong Caphe provides more than just a coffee; it offers a unique cultural experience. The distinctive decor, the authentic Vietnamese coffee (especially the famous Coconut Coffee), and the lively atmosphere make it a memorable stop for anyone visiting Vietnam. It's a place where history meets modern cafe culture, perfect for relaxing, people-watching, and enjoying a truly Vietnamese beverage.

Nestled on Trieu Viet Vuong street, Thọ Cafe is a beloved gem among locals and has been serving up delightful brews for nearly thirty years. Founded by five siblings from a Hanoi family, this charming cafe offers an authentic taste of the city with its rich coffee options, including sweetened condensed milk and aromatic sticky rice yogurt. The ambiance reflects the essence of old Hanoi, featuring cozy spaces like lofts and balconies that invite you to unwind while enjoying your drink.

What a lovely family-run cafe! The owner is a charming Hanoian lady, full of grace, warmth, and hospitality. Don’t be fooled by the small facade, behind the humble front of the house is a spacious, beautifully preserved old Hanoi-style house that feels like stepping back in history. Their coffee beans are pure magic, they give you that euphoric lift without the jitters, and there’s no crash afterward. Just don’t rush it,let the coffee sit for a bit and really feel its depth. I’m absolutely in love with the charm of this place , the people, the atmosphere, and especially their coffee. Visit at different times of day or on different days of the week, and you’ll feel the unique rhythm of local life. Around 9 AM, it’s often a full house with lively chatter, laughter, and big family gatherings. In the afternoon, the cafe quiets down, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the peaceful vibe. Weekends tend to be busier, but every moment here has its own beauty. It doesn’t get more Hanoi than this, and it all comes with a really good cup of coffee.

Really cute oasis for good coffee! Indoor and outdoor seating, and they sell whole coffee beans (arabica and robusta) which I'm planning on buying to take home. If you’re looking for a café with a hotel vibe, this is the place. With calming piano music in the background, it’s a quiet and productive workspace. Went there to do some business and have an interview. Initially, the atmosphere and coffee selection were quite impressive but somewhat expensive. The coffee taste was nice. I needed somewhere quiet for my interview and was informed its fine to use the other room just dont bring my drink. As I was about to enter to do my interview, another staff member stopped me and said its not allowed only for special events. This almost ruined my entire experience. Sorry but if your staff said its fine then you should allow it as it was already agreed upon. You guys need some education in hospitality.

Maison Marou Flagship Hanoi is a haven for chocolate enthusiasts, offering exquisite chocolates made from Vietnam's finest cocoa. The brand, known for producing the 'best chocolate in the world' according to the New York Times magazine, was founded by Vincent Mourou and Sam Maruta after discovering Vietnam's hidden fine flavored cacao. Their bean-to-table bakery exclusively features Vietnamese cocoa and boasts delectable artisan bars and cookies that have left visitors raving about their exceptional taste.
Maison Marou is a chocolate lover’s paradise in Vietnam. The colorful shop is filled with beautifully wrapped bars and tempting free samples — the Saigon Coffee Milk Chocolate with Bac Lieu sea salt is a standout, perfectly balancing sweet, salty, and aromatic coffee notes. The café serves rich chocolate drinks, great coffee, and gorgeous pastries, all while you watch chocolatiers at work. Whether you’re here for a sweet treat, a unique gift, or one of their pastry workshops, Maison Marou is a must-visit for any foodie or chocolate fan!

A Must-Visit for Dark Chocolate Lovers: Our Maison Marou Review Maison Marou has quickly become our absolute favorite chocolate brand. While their bars are certainly not cheap, the quality, combined with their transparent commitment to ethical sourcing and farm sustainability, makes every expense completely worthwhile. The Chocolate: We have tried about six different dark chocolate varieties so far, and haven't found one we didn't like. What sets them apart is the incredible complexity of their single-origin flavors. Our personal favorites are those with the subtle, naturally sweet fruit notes. We highly recommend picking up one of their multi-packs of different dark chocolates. It’s the perfect way to sample the range and find the ones we like most. A True Standout: While all the bars are delicious, the Roasted Buckwheat Bar was a true standout. Not necessarily "the best" (as they are all phenomenal), but the taste difference was striking. It has a unique texture and flavor profile that makes it instantly and wonderfully distinguishable from the others. Beyond the Tasting: Don't just grab a coffee and a snack! Make sure to take a stroll past the café seating and into the back of the store. We got to watch a few different bean-to-bar chocolate-making stages. We were genuinely impressed by the focus, attention to detail, and passion of the chocolate makers. Final Verdict: We will 100% be back to a Marou store anytime we see one. We’re about halfway through the stash we brought home, so a return trip to Vietnam for a restock might be sooner rather than later!

The Hanoi location stands out for its unique prison-themed interior and comfortable seating, offering strong Wi-Fi and a selection of refreshing beverages like honey kumquat mountain tea and mountain milk tea with jelly.
Amazing coffeeshop. Full of tourists and locals, the drinks were perfect and tasty, I ordered the coconut coffee which was amazing, not too strong if you’re sensitive to caffeine (I mean the less strong). Seating inside and outside, though I suggest sitting inside, it’s beautifully decorated!

I enjoy the atmosphere and decor here, and the upstairs seating area is nice for sitting and enjoying a coffee. I specifically came here to try the peanut butter coffee I saw on the menu, but they said they did not have it when I was there, so I tried coconut coffee instead. The coffee tasted ok, but I don't think it was good enough to make me want to come back compared to other places we've tried in the city.

Interesting themed café that offers the usual range of drinks. Except here for example, instead of using real ginger and honey in the tea like most places, they serve a cup of hot water with a sugar sachet and a tea bag!! Cheap, tasteless and nasty. Sadly the staff are disinterested which makes a visit even less enjoyable.

A popular local coffee chain packed especially in the evenings. I tried their local coffee with coconut milk and it was delicious, a tad on the sweet side, so be sure to ask for less sweet. The design is very rustic, vintage and cozy and a definite hit if you are into patriotism. I thought the service staff was especially outstanding and helpful. They have a small food menu but their primary focus is coffee. The alfresco vibe here is strong as you see most cafes offering outdoor low stool seating.

The employees didn't give me change. I didn't want to take it if they didn't give it to me, but I got annoyed because they didn't give it to me until I left, so I took it. The customer decides the tip, not the employee. Nestled in the heart of Hanoi, Tranquil Books & Coffee is a delightful escape that coffee lovers and bookworms alike should not overlook. This charming local chain boasts several locations throughout the city, each offering its unique ambiance while sharing common features: inviting spaces filled with an extensive collection of English and Vietnamese literature, delectable pastries, and expertly brewed coffee.
If you’re exploring Hanoi’s cafe scene, Tranquil deserves a spot on your list. It’s a cozy, book-filled space that perfectly blends creativity and calm. The entrance can be tricky to find — look for an alleyway across from their bar. I happened to visit on a weekly public event night, which you can join with or without a reservation. I would recommend checking their Instagram for event schedules, and book beforehand since they get crowded later during the night. During events, they only serve non-coffee drinks, cold brews, and alcoholic options. I tried their matcha latte and tea fog, both tasty and fairly priced. Im in love with their interior. Warm lighting, wooden shelves, and an entire wall of books that makes the space feel like a haven for readers and music lovers alike. Overall, great ambience, friendly vibe, and perfect for anyone who loves a mix of coffee, culture, and creativity.

This place stood out to me on Google maps when I was finding my location in the area. I was imagining it much differently in my mind as more spacious and larger but it’s definitely more compact and less seating area than I thought. The inside is a bit cold with a/c on blast while outdoors it’s possible people smoke. You must take your shoes off on the upper floor and it has a room with some table and a couch and another balcony like seating area where you sit on the floor or a more spacious seat that was already occupied. Def yummy goodies and drinks here and the inspiring display of books and dark wood combo. Overall smaller than expected and could not feel totally at ease. Outside space would be better if they didn’t allow smoking. Staff come by to offer water now and again which is nice.

Very homey vibe inside with a western low volume playlist. Perfect to relax , grab a book, work or just simply chill in hanoi’s busy streets. Ordered The orange - lemon tea - it was light and refreshing. I usually dislike hot drinks but this one was good and refreshing to drink. Mango waffle with coconut ice cream. - the waffle was good and crisp despite eaten slowly. It paired well with the fresh mango slices and coconut ice cream. The waffle also did not sog despite being soaked in melted ice cream.

A cozy and aesthetic book café with a great atmosphere — perfect spot to impress your girlfriend 😉 Sure, sipping coffee on those plastic stools by the street is classic Hanoi, but when it’s hot out, this kind of chill, air-conditioned vibe is unbeatable. Great value for money, too. If you're looking for a relaxing escape with good coffee and ambiance, definitely check this place out!
Se M — Google review
Delicious coffee and a lovely vibe. The whole café is decorated with Beatles memorabilia, with good music and mood lighting. The service can be a touch slow for food as it’s just one person working, but I don’t mind that much.

There are a few stores in the old town area, make sure u are heading to the one u’d like to. This is a smaller one I think which is next to the Long Waits Jazz Bar. It’s Cozy and comfortable, and has 2 floors which upper floor is like an attic one, a bit squeeze. The brunt cheese cake tastes good. Overall, the vibe is chill at which u can enjoy the afternoon.
Anita C — Google review
Cafe dedicated to quiet working or reading, so if you're looking for a place to drink and chat, this is not for you. But it has a muted jazz cafe vibe, and I especially loved the mezzanine floor seating. Sunny kombucha was the winner for me.
Sarah L — Google review
Bit too cozy and too tight a space for me, it’s very difficult to have a private conversation here without eavesdroppers present, but it’s very popular and my pandan coconut drink was excellent. Free parking tickets issued and staff are really kind.

iSushi Triệu Việt Vương is a Japanese restaurant located on Trieu Viet Vuong street in Hanoi. The restaurant is designed like an old Japanese house with private rooms and bamboo curtains, creating an authentic dining experience. In addition to enjoying the food at iSushi Triệu Việt Vương, visitors can explore nearby streets such as Trieu Viet Vuong, Ly Thuong Kiet, and Nguyen Huu Huan for a taste of traditional filter coffee.
The restaurant also features Hot Pot (Lẩu), Salads, Soups, and various Japanese desserts. They offer different buffet packages (such as Hasu, Sakura, and Kiku) which vary in the selection and quality of ingredients, such as different cuts of beef or premium sashimi sets.🍱🍣🍜🥗🍙🍤🍘🍢
Lê N — Google review
The food at the restaurant was amazing, and the service was good, so overall, I had a great experience. However, I found it odd that they charge for a wet towel. In my opinion, it would be better to either offer it for free or not at all.
Karolina G — Google review
This is my first time visiting this iSushi branch, but I’m a bit disappointed. First of all, the sashimi wasn’t that fresh — both the color and texture were noticeably different from other branches. Also, the tempura shrimp was surprisingly underwhelming… Golden Spoon really needs to improve its brand quality control.
Vader L — Google review
I might come back. Food: 4/5 (The kimchi soup is very flavorful, but the price is a bit high. The sushi and California roll are quite fresh and delicious. The fried rice and seafood noodles have a good taste. I wouldn’t recommend the scallop carpaccio and kanimiso crab shell (it taste is decent, but not worth the price)). Atmosphere: 4/5 (The space is cozy and comfortable. Since it's a place that offers both grilling and buffet options, it can get crowded) Decor: 4/5 (The warm tones combined with wooden or faux-wood design create a friendly feeling) Price: 4.5/5 (As I mentioned above, most of the dishes are reasonably priced for their quality. However, some are not worth the price, so I would rate it 4.5) Service: 4/5 (The staff are polite and courteous. However, since the restaurant is a bit crowded and serves a buffet, they seem quite busy, making it a bit difficult to call them at times.) If you need more details, please check the image as some of my reviews seem to have disappeared.

Extensive all you can order sushi, hotpot (and BBQ) buffet. Price is 389k(449k VND for BBQ +tax) and okay given the options. Taste and quality was okay but definitely not exceeding expectations. Sadly several dishes where not available/sold out (e. g. Sashimi Tartar), though we did not dine late. Staff could also be more attentive. Best available dish and really standing out was salmon tartar.
Peter B — Google review
This meal was excellent. ISushi is an all-you-can-eat sushi and BBQ place. I ordered just the unlimited sushi without the BBQ for 389,000 vnd. The price includes nigiri, sashimi, sushi rolls, steak; many appetizers to choose from, various salads, hot pot, and dessert. It’s not a typical buffet where you go to a bar and serve yourself but rather you order from a menu then they prepare for you. The fish was very fresh and everything that was cooked was cooked satisfactorily. Staff was friendly and helpful. Because the menu was in Vietnamese I had a server that spoke English who made sure that I choose the right items. I was more than pleased by the outstanding service, especially considering that we were there during peak hours on a Saturday evening. For 2 meals with drinks plus tax the total was 1,050,000 vnd (~$45) Great value.
Burry X — Google review
the staff over here was very attentive which I was very impressed by I think this is better than other branches that I have been to in terms of quality of service. in terms of the quality of the food I think it could have been improved I was generally disappointed that the sashimi was served warm as opposed to cold which it should usually be served cold.

Hanoi House Cafe, situated in a French-style house from the early 20th century, offers a nostalgic escape to old-world Hanoi with its high ceilings, art deco tiles, and tall windows. The cafe's unique style and creative decorations make it stand out among the ancient cafes in Hanoi. It is known for its cozy ambiance, friendly staff, and flavorful coffee blends.
Such a hidden gem! Hanoi House Cocktail & Cafe is tucked away in an old "ruins house" that’s full of charm and character. The moment you walk in, it feels like you’ve discovered a secret garden in the heart of the city — cozy, a little wild, and super atmospheric. The space is full of vintage vibes, soft lighting, and lots of plants. It’s peaceful and quiet, perfect for unwinding, reading, or chatting with friends. The ruined architecture gives it a unique, nostalgic feel — like a mix between an art house and a storybook setting. Their drinks menu is super creative! So many fun, interesting cocktails with local twists and great presentation. Whether you're into something floral, fruity, or bold, there’s something to love. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a laid-back, artsy spot to relax in Hanoi. Can’t wait to come back!
Murali G — Google review
I real like this this place. The ambience/atmosphere is what makes it. They have a lot of enticing cocktails on the menu, although I chose to have some wine while here (lovely Spanish red). The inside is dark and romantic with a comfortable temperature, and they have a long balcony outside with a nice view of the cathedral and the option for some potential people-watching. The bartenders/staff were quite friendly and accommodating, and the whole mood of the place is enveloping. If you’re staying in the area, this is a great place for a casual afternoon, evening, or nighttime drink!
Michael M — Google review
What a beautiful little bar! One of those places that makes me glad for Google Maps, because it’s a place I’d never have found otherwise. It’s located on the first floor inside a 150-year-old house, and it feels like you’ve entered a different world. Highly recommend going here if you like a vibe-y ambience and some delicious cocktails. Definitely on the pricey side, but worth it.
Nainika A — Google review
It’s a small upstairs bar with an interesting cocktail menu and great coffee. They also have a balcony with limited seating where you can see the cathedral and people watch. It’s open pretty early. The bartenders are really knowledgeable and friendly. Probably one of my favorite cocktail experiences in Hanoi. It’s not pretentious at all. The atmosphere is very welcoming. I would recommend coming here in the early afternoon. And try some of their delicious cocktails as well as their coffee.

6 stars, very well hidden gem. There’s a balcony you can see from the street, but the shopkeeper underneath had no idea how to get up. Soon enough we found a dimly lit alleyway a few doors down . And some crumbly stairs. Adventurousness repaid as up on the first floor Hanoi house is as cool as you can get , great vibe, music and cocktails. The balcony looks out over the church square, but it’s bit and sticky up there so better inside on the iron mezz accessed via spiral stair. The barman mixed a seasonal special for us. No idea what it was, except delicious. 6/5.
Andrew L — Google review
rather on the expensive side but very good cocktails. Nice view from the balcony on the buzzing street below in the evening. staff very friendly too, you also get a water with every order they have a 5% service surcharge
Nico — Google review
Top quality, creative cocktails. Many of them capture the flavors of Vietnam. The balcony has views of the main street and church. Inside, you can talk to the bartenders who speak English quite perfectly.
Krystal L — Google review
Favourite cocktail bar in Hanoi. Loved the experience - we sat on the balcony then moved inside upstairs playing good music. The signature cocktails all have a unique Vietnamese touch and are very creative. If you are into inventive cocktails definitely try them out! (Also happy hour 30% off!)

Café Pho Co is a hidden gem nestled atop a rooftop in Hanoi, accessible through a charming silk clothing shop. While the journey may require navigating some stairs and an alleyway, the experience is undeniably rewarding. Once you reach this serene courtyard café, you're greeted with stunning views of Hoan Kiem Lake. The star of the menu is their renowned egg coffee—fluffy and creamy, it's a delightful treat that has garnered much acclaim among locals and visitors alike.
One of the best cafes in Hanoi Old Quarter. Drinks are really good, coffee tastes strong with excellent smell. The owner is very welcoming, kind and generous. Great place to sit and watch lives go by in Hanoi.

One of the most unique Egg coffee i have tasted. Espresso Coffee was well made with condense milk and a rich thick warm egg sabayon sits on top of the coffee. best drank all mixed well. Dessert restaurant
Lutulata Desserts & Drinks is a delightful haven for those seeking to indulge in the rich flavors of Vietnamese dessert soups, known as che. This charming spot offers an array of these sweet treats, featuring ingredients like coconut milk, beans, and fruits that create a nostalgic experience reminiscent of traditional Hanoi. The atmosphere is serene and inviting, with decor that transports you back in time—think vintage bathroom sinks and classic loudspeakers enhancing the ambiance.
A perfect place for nostalgia. Nice peaceful atmosphere, nice drinks and desserts which are hard to come by nowadays (the snack noodles is one example), and if you like the tranquility of Hanoi old-time styles, this is the place to go. Everything here is done with purpose: even the bathroom sinks remind you of Hanoi back in the days. Oh and don't forget the loudspeakers on the walls, it helps create a very nice atmospheric feeling. Great place to chill and relax, and perhaps make some small talks with friends.

3rd floor outdoor seating is great. Nice atmosphere, cute furnishing, friendly service, and perfect place to try out Vietnamese desserts. A bit pricier than most other dessert joints, but worth it for the ambiance and very friendly/quick service. Recommended for visitors looking to try out Vietnamese dessert soups.
Annie P — Google review
Loved the vibe of the place. We had 2 desserts (i can’t really remember the name but 1 had corn soup and the other was beancurd with jasmine infused something). They were both really good, even better in the summer i suppose, since we had it in the winter. We sat on the top floor. The place is really cosy. Would definitely come back when i’m in Hanoi again.

Best che chuoi (banana tapioca pudding) we’ve had in Vietnam. We went back 3 times in the 3 days we were in Hanoi. Their yogurt with jelly and jackfruit was also delicious. Inexpensive and tasty!
Anh D — Google review
This is a lovely cafe with diversed menu, they serve different kinds of drinks as well as deserts (kinds of sweet soups, tofu). I order a sweet soup and tofu, it's very nice, not too sweet and suitable for any weather. Decoration is typically traditional. The staff can speak english quite well.
Thúy C — Google review
I made a research on where to eat dessert in Hanoi and a blog took me here. The place is cute and it’s nice to take the table by the window if you wanna people (and scooter) watch. I tried the che and the tofu jelly. I appreciate the jackfruit of the che I ordered. However, these are not the type of desserts that I would usually crave for since I am more of an ice cream or cake kind of person. It is nice to be able to try the country’s traditional treats though. P.S. I also tried the coffee and it is quite strong.

Starbucks Reserve Nhà Thờ is a popular spot in Hanoi's Old Quarter, conveniently located near St. Joseph's Cathedral. The coffeehouse offers its signature roasts and light bites, making it a favorite breakfast destination for many visitors. Despite being crowded in the mornings, the second floor provides a quiet retreat during the week.
This Starbucks Reserve location is quiet and relaxed. Perfect for a peaceful coffee break. The staff were incredibly friendly and greeted me warmly upon arrival. Everything was clean, from the seating area to the restroom. I also enjoyed browsing the well-stocked shelves of Starbucks souvenirs. A cozy and pleasant spot in the heart of Hanoi.
Gazella I — Google review
This Starbucks is always extremely busy and getting a seat can be hard to find. Even with plenty of seating up stairs it still can be hard to find a seat for one person, let alone a group of people so have that in mind. Still your classic Starbucks options for food and great coffee and friendly staff, just be warned about the seating situation.
Caleb V — Google review
Starbucks Nha Tho is usually buzzing with people, especially given its great location and cozy atmosphere. However, when we visited yesterday, it was surprisingly quiet — a nice change of pace! The service was quick and efficient, and the staff were friendly as always. One interesting feature about this branch is that it’s a cashless store, so all transactions are done by card or e-wallet, which makes the process smooth and convenient. Overall, a great spot to enjoy your coffee — whether you’re looking for the usual lively vibe or happen to catch it on a slow day like we did.
Gopi D — Google review
Starbucks Reserve Nha Tho, located at 6 Nhà Thờ Street in Hanoi’s historic Hoàn Kiếm district, offers a distinctive coffee experience that sets it apart from standard Starbucks locations. As Vietnam’s first Reserve store, it specializes in premium, small-lot coffees and manual brewing methods like pour-over and siphon. ☕ Coffee Quality & Menu Many patrons praise the high-quality coffee, particularly the Reserve selections such as Costa Rica and Nicaragua beans. One reviewer noted, “The coffee at the Reserve area is more than you can ask for. Highly recommend” . However, some visitors have expressed disappointment, especially with sweetened beverages like the Mocha Frappe, finding them overly sweet and lacking in coffee aroma . 🪑 Ambiance & Design The café’s two-story layout provides ample seating, making it a comfortable spot for both work and socializing. Its location near St. Joseph’s Cathedral adds to its charm, offering a serene environment amidst the bustling city. The interior design aligns with the Reserve brand’s upscale aesthetic, featuring elegant furnishings and a warm atmosphere. 👥 Service & Staff Customers frequently commend the staff’s friendliness and professionalism. The baristas are well-trained in various brewing techniques, contributing to the café’s reputation for quality service. 📸 Photo Opportunities The café’s proximity to notable landmarks and its stylish interior make it a popular spot for photography enthusiasts. Visitors often highlight the picturesque setting as a perfect backdrop for photos. 📍 Location & Hours • Address: 6 Nhà Thờ, Hàng Trống, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội • Hours: 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM In summary, Starbucks Reserve Nha Tho offers a premium coffee experience in a charming setting. While the Reserve coffees receive high praise, some of the sweeter beverages may not meet all expectations. The café’s ambiance, service, and location make it a worthwhile visit for both coffee aficionados and casual visitors.
Patrick P — Google review
Excellent location with perfect service next to the cathedral. We even had a quiet and private area for meeting on the 2nd floor. Americano is always amzing. Will comeback more.
Thuha N — Google review
Starbucks Reserve Nhà Thờ feels like a small piece of global café culture tucked right into the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. With its elegant, wood-accented interior and wide windows looking out toward the iconic St. Joseph’s Cathedral, it’s a spot where locals, travelers, and digital nomads all blend in effortlessly. The space feels both refined and lively—perfect for an afternoon coffee or a quiet pause in between the city’s rush. The highlight, as expected from a Reserve location, lies in the coffee itself. Their brews are rich and balanced, with the signature smoothness that makes Starbucks dependable worldwide. The pour-over and cold brew options are especially worth trying, offering layers of flavor that feel more crafted than commercial. Still, with its cathedral view, consistent quality, and cozy ambiance, Starbucks Reserve Nhà Thờ remains a solid stop for those seeking a familiar yet slightly elevated coffee experience in central Hanoi.

Really nice Starbucks, managed to get a seat upstairs by the window despite it being very busy. My partner got an iced vanilla oat latte and I tried the maple cocoa nibs oat milk iced shaken espresso (what a mouthful!) both drinks were delicious. We had to get some vanilla syrup added to the latte but that wasn’t a problem. The staff were very happy to help :) highly recommend.
Leo G — Google review
I had an extremely terrible experience with the Starbucks Vietnam app. On August 9, the app was down from morning until night. I wanted to place an order and link my Starbucks Rewards account with Grab, but couldn’t. I even thought my device had an issue or my account had been hacked, because when I checked Starbucks’ official pages, there was no announcement from Starbucks Vietnam. It was only when I went to a store that I learned it was a system error. If it’s a system error, Starbucks should have an official notice so customers are aware. You’re holding customers’ money but didn’t give any notice, not even an apology. Meanwhile, you’ve already taken that money and are earning interest on it. The Starbucks stores are not at fault here. The ones at fault are the operations team, marketing team, and IT team. For issues like this, you might as well shut down the loyalty program—don’t take customers’ money in advance and then not let them use it. How is this not a scam??? In a professional environment, you need professional people who know which cases are urgent and must be handled. Don’t just take customers’ money and give them the silent treatment. That’s unacceptable behavior.

Oriberry cafe is a well-known working spot in Hanoi, renowned for its excellent Vietnamese coffee and quirky ethnic-style gifts. The cafe also has a great little shop on site, so you can purchase your favourite beans before heading out to work!
4 1/2 stars: SEE OWNER REPLY to original review. I have re-visited at their invitation, and was received quite graciously, and accepted my complimentary double espresso, which was definitely sufficiently served this time. I only take off a half star because location is great, but ground floor view not as wonderful as nearby two-story shops with view of the Cathedral and plaza. There is limited seating outside the front window with a slightly better view. Great selection of their original roasts of coffee plus Vietnamese Teas (original review follows)Clean with nice decor. A/C works and English is spoken by very pleasant staff. Location good near Cathedral. Average pineapple juice. Decent espresso, however, I ordered the large (called "double shot" on receipt) and--at best--received 1 1/2 shots in my cup. I confirmed with smiling waiter that I was indeed looking at a double shot and he said yes. I'm staying a few doors down for a month, and I'll likely not return here. Restaurant "La Place" down the street has an open view of the Cathedral and plaza full of people, they don't scrimp on serving sizes and their espresso is comparable.

Katina ✅ Amazingly good. I usually avoid sugar completely but on this one the balance is really good. Cheesecake ✅ Slightly lemony. Good fit in term of sweet and acidity balance. Egg coffee 🤔 Nice texture but way too sweet for a man. Water✅ Important element for coffee. Well filtered. Can be improved a little bit. They promote local beans only. That's a great way to promote Vietnamese excellence. Not a place to do laptop work. Tables are too low for that.

Outdoor and indoor space available, coffees were really nice. I had cheesecake and it was so good ✨ not too cheesy, much more the sweetness from the caramel. Sipping my morning coffee ☕️ with a view 😍. Can't beat this coffee shop in the heart of the city! The energy here is buzzing, and the aroma of coffee beans is heavenly. Seriously, this coffee is next level 👌. So perfectly brewed, it's like a little taste of heaven in every sip. Definitely my new favorite spot to relax and recharge. #coffeelover #citylife #travelgram #vietnam 🇻🇳

Everybody came here to have coffee and an air cond room. The weather was extremely hot outside. The coffee was nice, many selections. Clean toilet, fast wifi, fast service, but too crowded both in the day and evening. Nice town and lake view.
Grace H — Google review
Good location for someone who wants to see the lake view. You may either order downstairs at ground floor or come up to third floor to order and dine in here and enjoy the view. They have outside seating areas for you to be closer to the lake, or you may stay inside and enjoy the cool temperatures while outside is more than 36 degrees. The coffee might be a bit overpriced since it’s franchised, but with the lake view you can still take it. Not recommended if you just want to try out their coffee either here or other locations.

Highlands Coffee is a popular chain of coffee shops in Vietnam, but this branch is not one of their best. The staff is very slow and orders can take up to 20-30 minutes to be prepared. The coffee is decent though, but not worth the wait or the price. The only redeeming feature of this place is the amazing view over the Hoàn Kiếm Lake and busiest junction in the old quarters. You can watch the traffic chaos and the people walking by from the third floor balcony. It's a great spot for taking photos or enjoying the breeze. However, if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, you might want to avoid the outside seating. There are always smokers there, and the smoke can ruin your experience. The inside seating is not much better, as it is often crowded and noisy. Overall, I would not recommend this branch of Highlands Coffee to anyone who is looking for a relaxing and satisfying coffee break. There are many other options nearby that offer better service, quality, and atmosphere. Go only for the view.

There are too few fully air-conditioned cafe in the Old Quarter. The 3rd level is fully covered with glass now and is always full and noisy like a primary school canteen. Try to sit at the ground level but the place is small. The cashier girl who took my order is good in English. Wonder why no one else operate air-conditioned cafe in such a touristy place.

the ambience cool.. coffee perfect, at level 3. many customer. good to take a break after long walk during the day. best is the price very reasonable as compared to laika at the most top cafe. anyway everything depends on your choice

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Train Street Coffee – Unique Hanoi experience Train Street Coffee is one of the most iconic and exciting places to visit in Hanoi. It’s a small, cozy coffee shop located right next to the railway track — yes, literally a few steps away from the train! The atmosphere is lively and full of character. Locals and tourists gather to enjoy drinks and wait for the train to pass just inches away. It’s thrilling and unforgettable! The drinks are affordable (around 4-5USD), and the staff are very welcoming. Many places even help remind you when the train is about to come so you can get your cameras ready. ⚠️ Note: Be respectful, follow safety rules, and listen to the locals. Some parts of Train Street are restricted, so make sure you’re visiting a legal café. Must-try: Egg coffee or coconut coffee while watching the train go by. Best time: Late afternoon or early evening when the lighting is great for photos.

Warm Hospitality and Great Experience! RAILWAY TUAN CAFE (The ORIGINAL) is a must-visit spot in Hanoi! The hospitality here is second to none — service was incredibly quick, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The owner is a wonderful guy, super friendly and accommodating. It was a real pleasure chatting with him and learning more about the area. A fantastic place to enjoy the train street experience. Highly recommended!

If you are visiting the railway street, this cafe is the one. The food is great , the coffee is solid and the owner is a legend. This place was that good we visited twice , he remembered us and accommodated us on a crazy busy night. He took time to take candid photos of me and my wife which we weren’t aware of until we were leaving and he got my what’s app to send them. They genuinely care about their patrons and the safety of those around and deliver on everything they should .

Had my first egg coffee here and it was very tasty. The timetable hung up on the wall said the train had finished running for the day but actually one came through so that was a nice surprise. Toilet is located across the tracks from the main shop and had no soap

The highlight of the restaurant is Tuan himself 😁 had a great chat with him and was lovely to meet him. Has veg options on the menu! And I tried the mint coffee which had an amazing flavour - I never tried this flavour in vietnam before. This place has very special coffee flavours 😋💜

Phuc Long Coffee & Tea is a renowned coffee shop chain in Vietnam with around 50 locations. Their mooncakes have gained popularity for their delicious taste and quality, appealing to all age groups. The tea offered here is highly praised for its exceptional quality, and the service is top-notch. While some minor cleanliness issues were noted in the bathroom, the overall experience at Phuc Long's beautifully decorated shops with great city views was delightful.

A franchise of coffee shops that deliver decent coffee and tea hot and cold drinks. We bought black tea and coffee beans to make our own drinks. We recommend their Culi coffee. It was a bit difficult to communicate with staff, but they were quite patient.

The name has a funny English rhyme but that is the end of the fun. The coffee is very ordinary and almost impossible to order without sugar. There are lots of staff but they don't clean the tables when a customer leaves. It's disgusting. Look at the pictures.

I personally did not liked Oolong tea- it was not hot nor it was sweet. Red velvet cheese cake was very hard and not at all yum. It is a self service cafe and can sit and do office work.
Ankita G — Google review
My experience was nothing compared to the 1-star review. The staff was very helpful, they spoke basic English and understood my order. The waiting time was normal, although only 6 people were waiting before me. I really like the tea and I had the best seller, Phuc Long Milk Tea. It was properly boiled, and I could taste the bitterness of the tea, and the caffeine as well. I bought the tea bags for souvenirs. They have various selections of flavors, lotus, lychee, black, oolong, jasmine, and peach. I'd recommend you to go here if you love tea. The price is standard like any other coffee shop, Phuc Long Milk Tea regular is 45k VND.

I feel giving a star is already over rated for this place. Went in today (14/9/25) at about 1:45 pm to have a drink but decided to walk out because of 3 reasons as per below:- 1. It was so stuffy and I dont know why they are not turning on the A/C. Saving electricity? 2. The toilet is extremely dirty. 3. The counter staffs looks so sad and unfriendly. Decided to walk out immediately due to the above 3 reasons.

I finally found a place with really good juices! Super recommended pineapple, orange and carrot juice! Peanut butter and avocado toast with poached egg, delicious, just like coconut coffee. The entrance is a little hidden and the stairs are a little bad, but it’s definitely worth the place! Very nice staff with a very good level of English! Very good price and highly recommended to go to breakfast

WOW - 12/10 – What an absolutely amazing experience! I can hardly put into words how incredibly kind, friendly, and attentive the staff was. Both Tué and Dang were simply the sweetest and made us feel so welcome, always quick, caring, and exceptional in their service. The food was fantastic and arrived super fast. We went for the avocado toasts, which were not only fresh but also really delicious. The cappuccino came with such a beautiful design that made it extra special, and the passion fruit tea was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. Great coffee and brunch placed tucked away in the heart of Hanoi! You have to walk down a small side alley and go up some stairs to get there which is nice because its a true Vietnam experience! We came here for our first breakfast after arriving from Bali as we missed some western food and it was really good! Would really recommend to the smoothies bowls as we particularly liked that. Staff are really friendly and the place has a good vibe (plus many western customers) Thanks!

We were craving a western-style brunch 🍳 for a change during our stay in Hanoi, and this place totally delivered! We had to wait a bit to get a table, but it was absolutely worth it. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and the staff were super friendly. In the 1990s, Hanoi was home to a unique cafe experience that offered more than just good coffee. Situated along the train tracks, visitors could enjoy their drinks while trains passed just inches in front of them. The location provided a hassle-free view of passing trains and friendly staff who helped patrons capture memorable photos and videos. Additionally, the cafe's proximity to Train Street allowed guests to easily witness this exhilarating spectacle.
A lovely café with the best spot to watch the train pass by—right in front and incredibly close! The coffee is good, the staff are friendly, and the experience is so unique. The fun part? Just before the train arrives, they fold all the tables flat and lay them on the ground to let the train pass through. Bonus: the waiters are well-trained photographers and can take amazing photos for you. A must-visit for a one-of-a-kind experience!

the experience is new. first I did not know that we will be so close to the train. However, the staff are very nice, they told us what to do and how to experience it in best way. they also very helpful for tourist. I ordered coconut coffee, the coconut is not really tasted but it’s okay for 50k vnd + the experience. I came on Monday and directly got table for 4 people. At the road, the staff was waiting then they will guide us to the cafe and train street. Nice experience!

One of the most unique food spots I’ve ever been to! Located right along the famous Hanoi Train Street, 1990s Train Street Food gives you that classic local vibe — small stools, cozy lights, and the sound of the train rumbling just inches away 🚆💨 The food was surprisingly good! I tried their egg coffee, bami, pho, and fried spring rolls — all flavorful, fresh, and reasonably priced. The highlight? Enjoying your drink while waiting for the train to pass just a few feet from your table — such an unforgettable experience! Staff were super friendly and made sure everyone stayed safe when the train came. Perfect mix of local culture, good food, and adventure in one spot. Definitely worth visiting when in Hanoi! 🌃🍜 ⭐️ Rating: 9/10 💸 Budget: 50,000–100,000 VND per person 📍 Location: Train Street, Old Quarter, Hanoi

Probably one of the best spots for train spotting and snacking on Train Street. I've been here twice, and Hanoi 1990s really stands out for both service and food. From a simple message to follow-ups and warm hospitality, everything was spot on. Lily and her team go beyond just serving snacks-they make sure the entire Train Street experience is memorable. The food was tasty, and drinks like beer and juice are reasonably priced, similar to other places. Highly recommend this café, and a big thanks to the team!

Friendly service to help us see the train street safely, we turned up a little early as this cafe offers balcony seating. We bought just beer, Bia Hanoi served cold. We were recommended to put the cap on the track as a memento. We moved downstairs and outside for the second train, there was no pushiness to sell, just warm and friendly service, I'd recommend here for anyone visiting the Train street

This is small coffee and snake shop situated right next to railway of Hanoi city. It's pretty interesting place the railway. The tables and chaires are right beside the railway and when train pass you to your leg toward the side and they remove tables. For sure it's a tourist spot and the coffe and drink are ok. However the staff are friendly and nice. It's good to have the experience if you are in Hanoi. There are lots of coffee shop both sides of railway which are more or less in the same range. Some of them are really small and people leaving there. They got the smart idea to get advantage of their situation to do some money. Oh BTW if you drink a.beer a.beer, put the capsule of the bottle on the railway and the train passes make it flat ...as souvenir.
Aslan H — Google review
They have a really good spot for a great photo - round-the-bend! Instagramable spots all around 🤩 Staff are friendly and plenty to take your order. But that’s all you’ll be paying for, food and drinks were nothing to shout about, i think the best is to order a cold bottled beer since you can even crush the cap with the train for a personalized souvenir. ⚠️ There are no safety instructions and some of the staff only speaks enough English for ordering food. When the train comes your table will be removed so you have to choose between holding your items or your camera. Your seat is the only safe spot, so stay seated and keep your limbs within your seat to avoid losing them - yes it’s that dangerous! Be cautious and you should be fine though!
Dan — Google review
We arrived extra early at 8 o’clock and it was empty so great opportunity to take pictures. The staff greeted us shortly after and for food we got the beef noodle and chicken rice. Drinks we started off with the mango coffee and salt coffee, and later got the avocado smoothie and lime juice while waiting for the train to come. The food was 4/5, drinks were 5/5 and service was 5/5. Great view of the morning train and loved that it wasn’t too busy!

Lermalermer, located near Van Mieu temple in Hanoi, is a charming cafe that offers a unique experience. The name itself is a playful take on the Vietnamese word for "dazed," and the space reflects this dreamy vibe with cream and yellow as the theme colors. Tucked away in a small alley, it's an ideal spot for solo coffee enthusiasts. The interior boasts vintage furniture, colorful artwork, and quirky ornaments, creating an eclectic and inviting atmosphere.
Came here for the cocktails. Refreshing, but also quite strong. Would suggest not coming with an empty stomach. Cute illustrations on the menu. Liked chilling on the beanbags. The no bake Lemon cake was nice. Ordered Deja vu and honeymoon. Honeymoon was refreshing with a yuzu fragrance. Would have preferred a different balance with the deja vu, found it too sweet.

This cafe is far from old quarter, not a lot of tourist when I went so it was nice. It has old architecture and the old style of Hanoi. It was peaceful, I love their choice in music. Although, I didn’t really like the drink I ordered, it was hot salted caramel. It wasn’t really hot at all. I feel it wasn’t the right temperature. Anyway, I still recommend this place cause its chill

Tucked away behind an alley like many cafes in Hanoi, this one is equally beautiful and super cozy, with great food. Lermalermer is the kind of café that feels like a warm hug from the moment you walk in. The mood is effortlessly chill, the playlist is calming, and there’s just something about the atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer. Their coffee leans on the sweet side – so if you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’re in for a treat. It’s not the most complex brew in town, but it definitely hits the spot when you’re in the mood for something light-hearted and comforting. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the design. Every single corner is picture-perfect. Whether you’re an Instagram enthusiast or just someone who appreciates good aesthetics, this café has you covered. Every seat, wall, and window has its own charm. Not one for selfies? No worries. Bring a book instead. Settle into a cosy spot by the window, sip slowly, and just soak it all in. It’s a peaceful little escape in the middle of the city – and honestly, that’s worth its weight in gold.
Surakul — Google review
Lermalermer is one of Hanoi’s most distinctive coffee spaces — a creative hideaway that feels equal parts café and art installation. Tucked away from the city’s usual bustle, it’s a place where design, mood, and taste blend seamlessly into one sensory experience. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by abstract shapes, playful colors, and furniture that feels like it belongs in a dream. Every corner seems made for both quiet reflection and quiet admiration. The drinks here are as imaginative as the space itself. Their signature coffee balances richness with subtle sweetness, while seasonal drinks often surprise with unique flavor pairings — think citrus, cream, and hints of spice done with precision. Even the presentation feels intentional, as if each cup were part of the gallery. Lermalermer attracts a thoughtful, creative crowd — artists, designers, and people who simply enjoy beauty in small details. The atmosphere is calm yet inspiring, filled with soft music and just enough conversation to make it feel alive. It’s not the place you rush through; it’s one you linger in. Lermalermer invites you to slow down, sip, and let your thoughts wander among its artful chaos — a café where coffee meets curiosity, and every visit feels slightly different.

Friendly service, free wifi, many drink options, spacious seating, tasty drinks! Would come again 🤩 Highly recommend the salt coffee and creme brule egg coffee! ☕️ We were immediately greeted by the owner bringing us 4 FREE cups of iced tea and a sunflower seed packet on the table (not free). Strong recommend. Tried their best seller "creme brulée egg coffee" and their iced coconut cream coffee. They were both well done, the texture creme on the egg coffee was smooth and blended nicely with the coffee. Coffee used tasted strong, very enjoyable. The coconut cream coffee was good but could have tasted more like coconut, slightly disappointing hence the 4 stars. Prices are very reasonable for the area, cheaper than most other well-known competitors or brands. Service was very quick and the atmosphere is great, lovely tiled floor, pictures of Old Hanoi on the walls and glass windows ideal to people-watch. Would come again for sure.

Nola Cafe, it's good to be back. It's been years and things have changed. Good, dramatic shifts. Tucked away down a narrow alley at 89 Ma May, it feels like a secret garden within a bustling city. Nola is particularly known for its charming and hidden location. One of the precious, hidden gems of Hanoi. It preserved its vintage, French-Indochina charmand it feels as though it has always been there. Now Nola cafe is adapting to trends while rooted in tradition. I'm proud to see a diverse menu beyond traditional Vietnamese coffee, including smoothies, cocktails, best seller and must try dishes. I particularly enjoyed the Nola granola and roasted chicken with bechamel sauce. Payments through QR codes, cash and cards.

One of the most unique cafe shop i’ve ever went to. Very modern and colorful. You will feel young when you get into the shop. They offer art daily walk in workshop at affordable rates. The place is very cozy, the clover tables and chairs are very cute. I love the rice straws - very organic. Worth the visit!

Super cute and trendy little cafe, the cafes is a few floors up but there's a cute Crafts floor and they've got interesting drink flavours. Also an outside seating area. I got the bamboo charcoal tea drink.

Super cute cafe and friendly staff. I am totally down for the view yet, they have tasty drinks as well as diy craft workshops. Even I come at night during the pouring rain, the cathedral is still stunning from their 4th floor balcony. Don't miss hip hup if you come to Hanoi.💗

My friend and I stumbled upon this cafe and she got the Mango fruit tea with peach jelly. I wasn’t gonna get anything, then I tried a sip, and my eyes widened with AMAZEMENT and I got up and ordered the same thing. The ambiance is also so cute and there’s an amazing view of the cathedral! You can taste the oolong tea and the fruits so clearly in the drink YALL NEED TO TRY!!!
Jessica Y — Google review
Located in the heart of Hanoi, this spot is truly unique, especially with its stunning view of the Cathedral from the fourth floor. I found the gift shop and flower shop on the ground level to be particularly eye-catching. As you make your way up, you'll come across a small yet trendy bookshop and then a spacious cafe. If you're in need of a place to work on your laptop, the third floor is the perfect spot. For those looking to snap a photo with the Cathedral as their backdrop, head up to the fourth floor balcony. I had the pleasure of trying the pandan tea, which was surprisingly delicious and completely new to me. They even have a night bar that opens at 8 pm, which I plan on checking out during my next visit. If you find yourself in this area, this place is definitely worth a visit!

We came here for a quick coffee break and were primarily attracted by the balcony seatings. Walking in, we immediately appreciated the very cozy and artsy atmosphere. The service was also really friendly and welcoming. What really stole the show was their smooth coffee (the first item on the menu), it's absolutely incredible and probably one of the best coffee drinks I've had in Vietnam so far! I'd recommend this place for a great coffee and great views.

Coffee shop
Oriberry Coffee is a popular coffee shop located in Hanoi's historic center, offering a cozy atmosphere and delicious coffee. The cafe provides limited seating, so it's advisable to opt for take-away and find a nearby scenic spot to enjoy your drink. Oriberry's arabica-robusta blend is highly recommended, providing a delightful experience while people-watching near St. Joseph's Cathedral.
My favorite cafe, been coming here for years. The coffee is delicious, the owner and staff are very enthusiastic and friendly. Having a shot of espresso or an iced Americano in the morning is just fantastic. The first floor is open and spacious, perfect for those who enjoy people-watching while sipping their coffee. The second floor has indoor seating as well as a balcony with a view of Đống Đa Mound. Highly recommended!

Just another Oriberry. Quality stays the same. Simply good without flashy or aesthetic packaging. Staffs are professional and friendly. But preferable Pham Su Manh than this shop, personally.

Oriberry Coffee is a delightful haven for coffee lovers, particularly known for its unique egg coffee. This special drink combines fresh eggs, milk, and robust coffee to create a frothy concoction that balances sweetness with rich aroma. Beyond this signature beverage, Oriberry Coffee offers an inviting atmosphere that remains consistent over time. Regulars appreciate the reliable service; even during busy morning hours, baristas remember their usual orders and serve them promptly with a smile.
Small cozy and friendly coffee shop. It does have a crafty feel to it with the long table. Coffee was good.

Simply love this places. They have been well-known for the beans. It was just so good on an autumn morning, enjoy the cool breeze outdoor with a nice cup of coffee. This street is quiet all the time. Some seatings inside and a little dark but somehow cozy but me, love to sit outside on the street. Quality is good with reasonable prices, fast serving time. Coffee and non-coffee, different sizes offered.
An H — Google review
Creamy froth on my latte. Reasonable price. Got a little smoke inside from those sitting outside.
Sandra L — Google review
This palace has always been one of my favorite spots for a reason: IT NEVER CHANGES. 1. My order never changes. A simple small ice Americano can lift up my mood. Even though the shop is always crowed during peak hours (7.30am - 9am) and I always wear masks, the barrista never forgets my usual order. They served in a prompt and positive manner. Never heard a shout nor conflict happened in the store. 2. The coffee quality is consistent. There wouldn't be a day I find the taste is different. 3. The atmosphere has always been the same. I like the decor of small green around the table and small fishes in the glass tank. Sometimes, while drinking coffee, you look through the glass window to find a squirrel flash running pass the roof of the opposite building. During autumn this place is the best to enjoy a corner of Hanoi without getting to crowdy and noisy. 4. The menu is varied with both caffein and non-caffein selection. Non-caffein people may get the chance to choose seasonal drinks such as mulberry juice... Other than that, there are plenty of tea 🍵 and smoothies. Cakes 🍰 are available for sweet tooth. Lemon 🍋 cakes are a bit dry. Banana 🍌 cakes are good but not as outstanding as apple 🍏 pie which most of the time sold out. Muffin size is quite reasonable comparing to its price. 5. I find the place is friendly with families and kids too though it doesn't offer a large space for kids to run around. 6. During quiet time, it may be a perfect spot for working with a laptop. One thing that minus: the shop closes quite early (around 2pm) or after lunch time.

Wanted to try the Oriberry Coffee for a while, so had to visit once I was in the neighborhood. The cafe looks big on the outside, but it’s actually only the ground floor. The atmosphere is great nonetheless. Staff is friendly and it was nice and quiet inside. Bac Xiu XL was well worth the upsize. It’s more on the milkier side, which I like. Banana bread was a decent size for the prize and very yummy.

Established in 1952, it has become a gathering place for students and artists, earning a reputation as a gallery of famous paintings in Vietnam. The café's pleasant aroma of roasted coffee and unique flavor have made it an enduring favorite.
It's always been my favourite place for a coffee and a smoothie. Definitely one of Hanois best smoothies and cheap. A Vietnamese coffe and a smoothie for 45000 dong is really good. I like the view over the lake. And I've never had any problem parking my motorcycle.

When you find yourself in Hanoi, the Old Quarter is a must-visit destination that perfectly encapsulates the city's vibrant spirit. This historic area is not only famous for its bustling streets and rich culture but also offers a delightful culinary experience, especially with its unique egg coffee served in charming shophouses and lively cafes along the railway.
Great place! Spacious, illuminated, clean and modern apartment with kitchen and seating area. Exactly like the pictures. Fast WiFi and convenient location. Would definitely stay here again. They have elevator. Be careful with hotels in the Old Quarter they can be old, noisy, smelly and you’ll be paying just a few dollars less. You may hear some people talking on the street, but you are in Hanoi City and this is almost inevitable unless you are in a windowless dark cave type bedroom (which I hate). Choose this place and you will be happy.
