Breakfast restaurant
Chong Choon Cafe, a cozy and nostalgic cafe near the Kuching Waterfront, has been a local favorite since 1958. It's renowned for its breakfast menu featuring dishes like roti canai, nasi lemak, toast, and eggs. However, the star of the show is the Sarawak laksa – a spicy noodle soup made with coconut milk, chicken, prawns, bean sprouts, and herbs.
Got recommendation to try sarawak laksa here. It is indeed delicious. The broth is yummy and just nice. Wish they put the ‘jeruk limo’ on the empty spoon instead to the chilly sauce. We also order chicken kolo mee. Not bad… And claypot porride, which is not too bad… can feel the rice. Not smooth creamy type. the claypot porride has some minced meat, salted egg and centry egg. We need to mix the flavor by ourselves.
Yusnianti L — Google review
Ordered $8 laksa, diluted gravy. Kolo mee $5 no ingredient. Toast too sweet. Prawn cracker decent. Nasi lemak not fragrant. I won’t recommend.
Cheryl N — Google review
Very crowded and need to Q for seat. The laksa is nice with fresh big springy prawn. Not suitable for solo as difficult to order food as no one take care of table
Eugene L — Google review
Nice local breakfast joint. Laksa and Popiah is a popular choice. Order the milk tea with less sugar
Eve's C — Google review
It is known for a delicious laksa, but i tried my best to eat it to not waste food. The strong smell (in negative way) and shrimp is so tiny and dirty, they dont even clean the tail, which i mean i still can see some dirt and black pattern on the tail. Besides, i tried a americano which was a disaster, super sweet and cannot be called a coffee at all. Definitely not come back!!

Found this place near the hotel I stayed. Been wanting to try popiah but a few of the places I went weren't open so I decided to visit here to try my luck. Was just a 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Arrived pretty early before 730 and there was already quite a lot of people. I head about the popiah and toast here and decided to give it a try. Luckily the popiah stall was opened. Ordered an original one and the other with the seaweed skin. From another stall ordered the toast and the teh c special. First came the teh c and the toast. Loved the way the tec c is served here, quite an interesting layering and looks sweet but isn't actually sweet. The toast was quite good, almost blew me away. Loved the crispiness and the rich kaya taste. Then came the popiah. Tasted pretty good though the sweet sauce was quite different from what I expected it wasn't sweet. The taste was quite light. On the other hand, the seaweed one tasted better cause I think the main reason was the seaweed had pretty good flavour which enhanced the taste of the popiah. Regretted ordering 2 I didn't expect it to be so filling, it looked quite small from the ones I saw people eating so I decided to get 2. It was a good breakfast experience here and I enjoyed the food and drinks here. Still quite a few other stalls worth venturing but was too full for that. Cheap and good. Recommended.
Matthew L — Google review
Very local place for breakfast and maybe lunch. We arrived around 0800 and left a few empty table which was subsequently full after which. I got the Kolo Mee and Sarawak laksa. I enjoyed the Kolo Mee which you can get the white or red one. Recommend to try both if you want to know which you like. I personally like the white one as the red one was a little sweeter with char siew sauce. Sarawak laksa was famous but I think I didn’t really enjoy it but it’s a personal preference thing. I think a hidden gem is the popiah! They had crispy biscuit inside which make every mouth so shiok unlike SG ones which can be too nua. Skip the coffee here haha. Maybe get the three layer tea instead.
Kah T — Google review
I came for the laksa. When I order, I did not mention I want normal or special one. So when the order came, judging by the look I thought it was normal but it was actually special as I had to pay Rm10 for it. Tastewise, I personally think it is overrated. The broth is thin. Only 3 pieces of prawns for special laksa & few shredded chickens. Portion is small. Not a definition of special to me. You can find such taste anywhere else in Kuching. Just a small tip for travellers. Travel a bit further if you want to try good laksa. Go to Aunty Cafe at Aiman Commercial Centre in Samarahan. For a normal rm8 laksa, the portion is big and the taste is much more sedap.

Choon Hui Cafe in Sarawak has gained iconic status, especially after being praised by Anthony Bourdain for its Kuching Laksa. This dish is a flavorful blend of shredded chicken, fresh prawns, and bean sprouts in a rich and spicy soup. Another must-try is the mee kolok at Kak Bedah Cafe, known for its Halal version of the dish.
One of the best spots I’ve tried for Sarawak Laksa! The broth is rich, fragrant, and packed with authentic flavor — perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. The prawns and shredded chicken were fresh and generous too. I also had their 3 Layer Tea — super refreshing and not overly sweet, with a good balance of milk, tea, and gula apong. Cozy environment and friendly staff. A must-try if you’re craving true Sarawakian taste!
Kw L — Google review
If you’re into Sarawak Laksa, most people will point you to Choon Hui. In my humble opinion, they make a tasty bowl of laksa but not necessarily the best bowl. Apologies to my Kuching friends but I truly believe the best bowl of Sarawak Laksa is to be had in Petaling Jaya at Lao Mao Cafe in Megan Rise Mall. To be fair, it’s not an apples to apples compare as the bowl of Sarawak Laksa at Lao Mao cost slightly more than twice that charged by Choon Hui. So the quality of ingredients and spices used in the broth are at a different level. For the price that they charge, I have no complaints about what Choon Hui delivers. A simple delicious bowl of noodles. Had the Kolo Mee here too. Think the noodles are too soft and the dry mix is a little bland and needs the vinegared chillies to provide some complexity.
Whisky D — Google review
Choon Hui Cafe in Kuching is a popular stop for tourists. The Sarawak laksa here is delicious, with a rich broth and well-balanced toppings that make it very satisfying. However, what stood out for me the most was the popiah — fresh, packed with flavour and served with a tasty dipping sauce that really elevates it. A great place to enjoy some authentic local favourites.
Joseph K — Google review
This place opens and closes very early. We came around 1015 and the place was still packed. The kolo Mee shop was already closed for the day. We got the Sarawak laksa and a porridge. The food was ok. Nothing too outstanding. By the time we are done, the laksa have finished even before their closing time of 11am. Parking is a huge issue as there really was very limited parking.
Sharon T — Google review
The laksa sarawak is nice, took the small bowl and the portion is nice and cost rm8 The only issue we had no cash🥲 They dont accept card and QR. Probably will be more convenient if they have that service. Even the drinks guy-doesnt have QR code Had to run to nearby bank across the road to withdraw money. Nice place to try,but pls carry cash with you.
Shan S — Google review
The laksa wasn’t quite to my liking. The broth was creamy but lacked the strong prawn flavour I expected, so it didn’t feel very balanced. Prawns were fresh, but the noodles were slightly overcooked, and I unfortunately found a strand of hair in the bowl. The kolo mee, on the other hand, was better - a bit on the dry side, but the shallot aroma was fragrant and flavourful. I also ordered Teh C Special, but it came with ants. They did replace it, though the second cup still had ants around the rim. Service was polite, but overall the experience could be improved in terms of quality control. it
Parsley W — Google review
I think this is one of the more popular and touristy coffeeshops in Kuching recommended in quite a number ot social media sites. Visited on a weekday morning and didn't expect this place to be so crowded. I was also recommended this place by a friend and decided to come here to try the popiah and laksa. Managed to get a table after a few minutes, but I didn't waste time and I ordered the laksa while waiting for a table. Could see they were busy but it didn't take long for the food to be served. Had a try and it was not bad, I didn't try a lot of laksa here but I thought it was one of the better ones. Couldn't see the popiah stall so I asked someone and apparently it wasn't opened. Disappointed. Then ordered the special teh c and decided to get the toast as well. The teh c was good and the toast was even better. It exceeded my expectations as it was so crispy and the kaya was light. Not a bad place for breakfast do expect crowds and hope I get to visit again and try the popiah. There's a kolo mee stall too if I remember correctly so its a place where you can try most of the local specialties. Recommended.
Matthew L — Google review
Breakfast at 645am, no wait of cause, parking was easy that time. Its has very limited parking space, maybe 8-9x max. The laksa was good. Sin Chuan Choon laksa still the best in KCH. At city center.

The portions are generous and perfect for sharing. In addition to main courses, they also have a selection of snacks and interesting drinks like fruit salad and hot honey lemon. The ambiance is great for dining with family or friends.
We ordered Carbonara and Chicken chop, the portion is big enough for 3 girls and worth the price. The staff name Alyson is friendly and services good! Overall very satisfied with the environment and service🥰

This is my first time going here and i love it so much. The workers are very nice and friendly. The service is fast (for me) and the food portions are just so big! Love their mashed potato and the gravy with it. I can see myself going here many times in the future. The taste? Fairly good. The price of the foods are reasonable in my opinion.
Mariella V — Google review
Food was good! Chicken chop juicy n flavourful (mushroom sauce 🔥). Mashed potato so good too. Nachos a bit salty but still yummy. Garlic bread n mushroom soup also nice. Service was great and we were served by Christina who was super friendly! 👍 The sound of monkeys were a lil annoying tho.. 🙉🙉
Sylvia S — Google review
The atmosphere is cozy enough. As their tagline: “Reasonable price, bigger portions”, and yeah they meant it. I had a fried chicken chop. Look at it, its massive. But for me the downside was, inconsistency of each piece chicken. I got 3 pieces, one of it too dry, others juicy. Probably gonna try next menu, next time.
Mohd D — Google review
Kuddos to Sharing Planet for the excellent service and good provided by Nerine and team. Good value with large portions, will definitely come back again

Had a great meal here! Love the chicken chop. It was juicy n tasty (love the mushroom sauce). The nachos can be better, a bit salty for me. Big thanks to Christina for the friendly service! 👍

Cafe
Mi Sapi / Mi Kolok Haji Salleh @ Sepinang Sari is a must-visit restaurant in Kuching, offering authentic Mee Kolok and Mee Sapi. Despite its simple exterior, the food served here is exceptional. The restaurant has been operating since 1996 and has garnered a loyal following for its delicious menu. It's advisable to avoid peak hours as the food may take up to 30 minutes to arrive due to long lines during lunchtime.
I ordered a full bowl thinking o would share with my friend but ended up having to finish it 😅 fortunately the food was light in my tummy and I loved the fact that it was accompanied by cili cina like in Sabah so terubat rindu 🥰 teh panas met with my requirement and price was cheap. We were lucky to get seats for 9 of us, as I heard on normal days it’d be a very long line.
Soraya Y — Google review
A staple in Kuching’s food scene, Mi Kolok Haji Salleh has earned its reputation as one of the best places for this iconic dish. The long queues and packed seating speak volumes about its popularity. The noodles have a familiar Kampua-like taste and meet expectations, while the drinks complement the meal well. Although the hygiene could be improved, the overall experience remains satisfying. With its rich flavors and loyal following, this spot is well worth a visit.
Ken W — Google review
40 mins of waiting atleast. Not sure how the queue is like on weekdays. I came here as it went viral but tbh there are better options out there like Mee Kolok Tang, but they’re only open from 6.30pm onwards. The price for 2 people was around RM31+. The meal was rather bland, the chilli & soy sauce were veryyy diluted and tasteless. Again, Mee Kolok Tang is the benchmark for me 🤣 the best part of this place is sadly just the soup 🥺
Farhana Z — Google review
Sepinang Sari Mi Sapi, better known as Mi Kolok Haji Salleh, is one of those places you check off your Kuching food list. The menu is decent, nothing overwhelming, but you come here for the classics anyway. Taste-wise, it’s decent too, though perhaps not the life-changing bowl of noodles some hype it up to be. Price is a touch on the higher side considering the humble setting, so don’t be shocked when the bill feels a bit more “city café” than “kopitiam.” The environment is alright, but it gets packed easily, so be prepared to share tables or eat with the soundtrack of clinking bowls and chatter. Staff are okay, not exactly warm hugs but they get the job done. The best part is its location in town, though parking can be a little nightmare. Will I come back again? Maybe, if I’m nearby and craving a decent bowl.
Isk I — Google review
Not bad. You need to queue before getting a table. The taste of the mee kolok is quite good. RM10 per bowl is a little expensive for a small portion, maybe because it's a famous restaurant. The normal price outside is only RM7-8.
Ridhwan H — Google review
Unpopular opinion: Overated place with mediocre mi kolok. Daging tak rasa apa pun, bland, tiada rasa manis daging. Price point is expensive compared to others which is far better than theirs.
Razali — Google review
The OG place for Mee Kolok/ Mi Sapi. While locals might think this place is overrated and there might be better option, this place is my go-to option whenever im in Kuching. Expect a busy atmosphere in the morning with the servings running out at around 11am-12pm. It did take a while after ordering, around 15-20mins of waiting after being seated. Price is a little high but not unbearable
S F — Google review
One of spot place must go & try..kawan recommend then yess..tidak mengecewakan..lidah taste Sabahan here & I accept mi kolok as one of my favourite tongue now...& thanks too sebab bagi lolipop to my 3 kiddos...make more big smile🫶

Restaurant
Mom's Laksa Kopitiam is a must-visit spot in Kuching, offering the authentic and delicious Sarawak Laksa. Unlike the laksa commonly found in Peninsular Malaysia, this version features a rich coconut milk-based broth with seafood like prawns or squid, served with vermicelli instead of regular laksa noodles.
Mom's Laksa Kopitiam consistently delivers a top-notch Laksa Sarawak that never fails to impress. The rich, aromatic broth, combined with perfectly cooked noodles and fresh ingredients, captures the authentic flavors of Sarawak in every bite. In addition to their standout laksa, the snacks offered here are equally delightful, providing a satisfying and well-rounded dining experience. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer, Mom's Laksa Kopitiam is a go-to spot for a true taste of Sarawak. Five stars well deserved!

RM15 for small portion Mee Kolok Perut. Lokek dgn mee. Laksa was not available because the manager forgot to make the Laksa. When order Kopi C, not available due to evaporated milk also manager forgot to stock. It is 7.30 am in the morning and everything were not ready.

It’s been renovated quite a while ago, but this is my first time here after the renovation. The ambience is nicer than before — cosy and there’s also an air-conditioned area. Orders are made through the website, and the waiting time for food wasn’t too long. Taste-wise, the food & also the price-wise–okay! Open until 10pm every day except Sunday (until 4pm).
E Z — Google review
Eeewwww waiting takes away so long. Wasting time. Poor service for new management after renovations. Using a computer cashier the POS machine still makes the wrong order. What the heck do. Can get someone who is better to handle for kitchen
Firdaus A — Google review
I ordered my food first while waiting for my friends, but surprisingly, their orders arrived before mine, even though we all had laksa. Unfortunately, the laksa broth was disappointing, it felt like something was missing and had no hint of spiciness at all. I hope they can improve but I definitely won't be back for a second time.
Riley H — Google review
Mom's Laksa Kopitiam is a hidden gem in Kuching, and my recent visit with three friends left us with a delightful experience. We arrived at the kopitiam around 3:30 pm, which turned out to be an excellent time choice as there was no crowd, allowing us to enjoy our late lunch leisurely. The star of the show was undoubtedly the Laksa Sarawak, a local specialty. The rich and aromatic broth paired with perfectly cooked noodles made for a delightful combination. Meanwhile, my friends enjoyed Mee Kolok Sarawak and Sup Tulang, and their feedback echoed my satisfaction – all dishes tasted great. Affordability is another plus point at Mom's Laksa Kopitiam, making it accessible for both locals and tourists. The only drawback was the kopitiam's location, a bit far from our base at Hilton Hotel. We opted for GrabCar services to reach there, which was a convenient solution. Although the kopitiam offers a spacious dining area, the Kuching weather can get quite hot. While the fans were functioning, the heat was still noticeable. This is something to consider, especially during the hotter months. Despite this minor inconvenience, the fantastic food and budget-friendly prices make Mom's Laksa Kopitiam a spot I would definitely return to. I'm already looking forward to my next visit, perhaps with my family to share this culinary experience.
Fakhruddin — Google review
It was newly renovated, and the atmosphere is OK. And spacious. It's just that the inner section is easily full and not many seats remaining outside. If you want to come here please be early or else you have no place to sit down. I came early so no wait.

Mee kolok was OK for me. RM6.00 per plate, nice portion and made me full.

Bla Bla Bla is a unique Chinese restaurant with a Bali-inspired natural green concept. The use of wooden tables and chairs creates a romantic and comfortable dining atmosphere. The menu features dishes like Sayur Midin, Ayam Pandan, Itik Peking Pancake, Cakur Manis, and delectable Western cuisine that have received top ratings from visitors.
A hidden gem in Kuching, wasn't expecting much from this restaurant but ended up being super satisfied. We enjoyed each of the dishes we had, and the ambiance was nice. Be noted that the portion size of the foods are quite a lot. Besides, staffs were very friendly and helpful. Great experience overall.

Four of us couldn't finish the big portion of 1-pax fried rice and veggies. The Mango duck was nice and tasty, this dish was served with 8 spoons of mango and duck.
Happy W — Google review
the food is superb, so far the best meal I've had in Kuching. looking forward to be back at this restaurant again in the near future.
Henry Y — Google review
We had originally intended to eat at a nearby Thai restaurant only to discover upon arrival that it was permanently closed. Bla Bla Bla was virtually next door and based on typically good reviews we decided to eat here instead. Access to the restaurant upstairs is via a number of paving slabs set over water, ahead of the stairs. The layout of the restaurant is relatively simple, but airy thanks to the airconditioning. Various alcoholic beverages feature on a very extensive menu that offers all manner of Asian fusion food. We ordered the black pepper beef, Thai style crispy chicken with mango, and a midin salad. The first observation about the portion sizes is that they are quite large. We probably could have ordered just the one main course between us as we struggled to eat everything that was brought out. The black pepper beef had an intense, but not overwhelming, flavour and the beef was tender. The chicken dish had quite a chilli kick to it that was moderated by the mango, and this combination worked well. The overall price of the meal was somewhat higher than in similar restaurants in Kuching, but this was probably more a reflection of the quite large portion sizes.
Richard W — Google review
A rather nice atmospheric spot, although the service could be better and the food as well for the price. The signature cashew nut prawns are unfortunately not worth it. Ask them for unshelled option (and pay 8 MYR more), if you desperately must have them. We could have chosen better in Kuching. 🤷‍♂️
Aleš K — Google review
The stir fried Midin/fern and the Pandan chicken was amazing! The rice/noodle dishes say they are for one person but the portion is huge, so I think they mean portion for one if you’re not getting any other dish.
Wanzhen X — Google review
The food is nice and big portion but the price is abit pricey , don’t expect too much about their service .
Vinie C — Google review
The environment downstairs was good with water and stone. The food portion really big. Some of the food taste is good and some so so. What I don't like was that it took them an hour plus to cook me the food. I waited for hour plus, yet the table beside who came later than me already been served. I called the waiter and he was very unhappy and ignore my calling. What kinda service is this? If you're not happy with too many of customers please set the limit of customers to dine in. I can wait for half an hour but not an hour plus. Don't do ur business like this. Never go back.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Kuching, Kopi O Corner is a charming café that beautifully marries local flavors with an unexpected twist. While primarily known for its array of traditional Malaysian dishes and snacks, this laid-back spot has made a name for itself by serving authentic Nasi Arab that resonates well with the local palate. The presentation may differ slightly from what you might expect elsewhere, but it adds a unique touch to your dining experience.
Came here by walking from the kuching waterfront, around 2KM. Kuching is a walkable city and I like it. Ordered Mi Kolok & Laksa Sarawak. Both tastes great! The waiter was friendly. The shop environment was also nice to chill and lepak with your friends.

Worst place to have breakfast. Karen waiter and manager. Laksa sarawak tastes so bad. Roti canai planta is just planta and so bad. Mee kolok is just so so. Slow service. Rude waiters. Nasi goreng ikan terubok took so longgg to serve. Overall is just a very worst and bad experience with worst and rude workers tq :)

Kopi O Corner in Kuching offers a variety of local dishes like Mee Kolok, Laksa Sarawak, and Mee Jawa in a cozy atmosphere. While many patrons appreciate the prompt service and cleanliness, some have noted a decline in food quality and customer service over time. Prices are reasonable, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
Khai H — Google review
The restaurant’s quality has really gone downhill. The service was just okay. I asked the waiter to wipe the table again, but they used a smelly cloth that made the table worse and ruined my appetite. They also forgot part of my order. The food wasn’t great either, it was much better 8 years ago The atmosphere was bad too :) there was dust and cobwebs on the ceiling, walls, lamps, and even the bike decor. It looked messy, like a haunted house, and the dust triggered my allergies. Overall, I was disappointed with the experience this time!

Food and drink was alright! Variety of food but only for limited time (for breakfast) All in all, if you don't know where to eat, you can come here! Mee kolok was okay

We saw this restaurant from the road and decided to try.. we dont regret our visit here as everything was good except for the table that we sat at the back was quite hot.. waiter was very attentive and friendly.. food tasted good and fast service..have few stalls here for you to choose..

Nice hipster + old school style cafe .. many delicious local food that we tried - Nasi Goreng Kambing, Mee Kolok and Mee Jawa (with Satay Ayam). Affordable price.

The restaurant is clean, service was fast. We tried nasi goreng and terubuk masin (must try), laksa (okay2 only), nasi campur & teh ais C (quite nice, I think they are using gula apong). Overall, good experience..price is a bit pricey but it is okay.

Breakfast restaurant
Hi-Bread Kopitiam Petanak is a charming and budget-friendly spot that specializes in breakfast, offering a delightful mix of Western-style dishes. This cozy eatery features an inviting atmosphere with friendly staff, making it perfect for family outings. Their standout item is the Engkabang bread—a round pull-apart loaf that's light, fluffy, and boasts a buttery flavor with a crisp edge. While their breakfast sets are generous and satisfying, some items like the baked beans could use a little enhancement.
For order , need to queue at the counter and make payment first and take your table number n resit. I like the service and environment here . No complains with the food it was 5 /5 😍. Btw it was my first time here. Will come back for sure !! Well done Hi bread!! They accepted cash only btw

Please please please Hibread, make QR and cashless operation. I happened to bring no cash, and forcely ordered by Grab Delivery. Somehow, i cannot buy drink at your store. Out of sudden, your girl cashier was kindly enough to give her own money to me, for buying Green Tea can drink. Many thanks to her, my kid & I was able to eat small portion there at your store. If anyone read this, please bring cash money before ordering to this kopitiam. TQ

If you’re into some western breakfast style, Hi-Bread is the place. 😋😋🥓🍳 Not the same old Hi-Bread as what I had in the late 2010s, pretty much everything has been changed, except for the food. 😐😐😐 I must say that the food is still delicious as before. 😋😋🥓🥓 Really great service. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Good American breakfast cafe with plenty to choose from. Drinks taste great in any of these outlets and everything seems to worth the price you're paying.
Firdaus I — Google review
Ate my breakfast here after so many years, it was a disaster. Waited 20 mins for 2 simple set meals yet it was served cold especially the omelet and sausages. Worst yet, the self services utensils runout and need to inform the cashier only then they go wash it and wipe it and refill it (yet the utensils is still wet after they wipe it with an "unknown" towel lying on the tabletop). Teh Tarik in a paper cup with no sign of foam so obviously not a "tarik" one. Table cleaning also not competent enough. Can see few table of customers are quite frustrated with the waiting time.

You folks really need to learn how to make toast. It was terrible and certainly not a good experience. I had garlic toast bread, it was a mess. First you need to understand that in Kuching we have high humidity. If you toast bread and leave it on the counter for a few minutes it becomes soft and looses it crisp crunch. The fact that the bread is not toasted on both sides and the garlic margerine is too excessively spread, makes for a soggy sickly mushy mess. The flavour of the garlic is good, but putting too much spread on doesn't make it better. You could be saving on food cost by reducing the amount of spread. But learn how to make toast, both sides and crisp.
Borneodaya — Google review
Good bread, their breakfast sets are worth it though they appear on the pricy side. Seriously, the breakfast set is so big you might have to take half of it to go. They take cash only, unlike most other places in Kuching, so don't go unprepared.
Daniella — Google review
Western breakfast menu. I call this place "The bun specialist". The texture of the bun is just right, the taste is not too sweet, it's soft and warm. However, the baked beans can be improved. Instead of using the canned baked beans, maybe they can make with their own recipe.

If you're a fan of Mamak cuisine and looking for a relaxed atmosphere to unwind while enjoying a variety of dishes, then this restaurant is worth visiting. As expected, their menu includes traditional Nasi Kandar with various side dishes. However, what sets them apart and makes them popular among customers is their perfectly cooked Naan bread.
First time visiting, food is amazing, best Pakistani I have tried to date. There are SO MANY options I couldn't even believe some of the things I have seen like Roti Canai Ayam. All delicious and flavourful, service is quick and accurate. A must try if you are around.

BROO aint no way u serve nasty ahh food. THE CURRY WITH THE NAAN? HELLO? the curry is tasteless, like diluted with water. AND THE NASI LEMAK? Worst nasi lemak i have eaten. The sambal taste so baddd! Worst of all the red chicken. RM5 wasted. U guys cannot even cook a simple food. Even a 5 years old can do better. Dont come here yalls

Order Ikan Bawal penyet, fish body missing only left head and tail ! I don’t know is either their seasoning is weird or the fish is not fresh. It taste weird
Jun K — Google review
The Beef Shawarma I ordered was bland, and the portion size was quite small considering the price. One behavior I feel compelled to address is how disrespectful the cashier/manager(?) was. I had asked the waiter earlier about the available payment options, and I was told that card payment was accepted. However, when I went to pay the bill, the cashier claimed that the card payment system was down. I gave him a confused look, at which point he reluctantly turned on the card scanner—revealing that the system was actually working???

Clean, spacious & calm environment. For after dinner or Supper with family & friends. Its a great spot to have a chit chat & enjoy the foods. Wide range of menu options! Recommended for their Plain Nan & fresh mango lassi! Yums! Toilet also clean.

Order for Maggi Goreng Biasa & Teh Tarik Peng. The mee is nice but somehow they cook the mee using other substance rather than using the sachet original of Maggi Curry. It's very weird like I have at the other restaurant. The restaurant is 24 hours operating and convenience store 7Eleven located one row with the restaurant. Parking spaces is limited here. If you have the empty parking space. The luck is on your side! There is also another restaurant nearby "Nasi Kandar Line Q"

Very nice place for pakistani food. However they do also have local dishes like nasi goreng etc. The 'Arab rice' is so good. Menu almost similar to 'mamak' restaurant only that the cooking style is pakistani style. One drawback they should improve: not to allow the the customer to smoke at their premis and be strict on it.

Nestled in the heart of Kuching, The Container @ Simpang Tiga offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience within creatively repurposed shipping containers. This modern cafe is known for its quirky yet cozy atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both casual meals and special celebrations. Guests can indulge in a diverse menu featuring local and Western dishes that are not only delicious but also served in generous portions at reasonable prices.
The food is really good, the portion and price are fair and the service is on point too Hm I've have eaten here twice already

The Container Cafe in Kuching falls short in several key areas. As a customer, I found the service to be inadequate, with staff showing little attentiveness or communication during the ordering process. We waited over 45 minutes for our food with no updates. Additionally, the air ventilation inside the cafe was poor, leaving a lingering smell of cooking oil throughout the space. Unfortunately, the food also failed to meet expectations, and given the price range, I anticipated a much higher quality. This experience was disappointing on multiple fronts.

A few days ago, my fam and I celebrated my nephew's birthday, and the staff was so nice asking us if we wanted the cake to be kept in the fridge while we ordered food. I love the food and the environment here. Good place to chill, too.

We celebrated out father's day there. The food was yummy but the portion is rather small. So, you might wanna order more if you're thinking to share. We were lucky to use the 30% Grab rebate for this, and we saved RM90 for this meal. The smoked duck pizza and chicken maryland were good!

Wanted to go here since long time ago. Today finally stepping my foot into the diner for lunch with my bestie. The foods were AMAZING!! Didn't expect the portion were big, enought for 2-3 people to eat. The taste OMG VERY SEDAP ♥️ will repeat again soon

The Container... an okay place. Located along a very busy road that has a traffic crawl after office hours. So dont plan to go so early in the evening. After 7 or 7.30pm would be better. Ample parking space. Quite clean exterior. The Container interior is pleasant. There is upstairs and ground level setting. Food was quite alright and so were the portions. It helps speed up serving if you pre order. Personnel are pleasant and polite. Quite attentive as well.

Buffet style, special order, special arrangement, great and friendly service. They specially reserve a private space for our dinner booking. The food are good and great environment atmosphere too. Recommend place to celebrate with family n friends.

Great place to chill with friends & planning a party. You can book in advance. I recommend the lower part of the reaturant for private party enough for 20 people. They got 2 big TVs down there. Gorgeous restroom...Really!!! Hahaha!!! Food are delicious and price are reasonable. The portion of food are equal and worth the price. They also provide lunch set menus (1 main dish + 1 drink) that are affordable. Go and try it yourself.

Nam Joo is a vintage-themed cafe nestled in Kuching's Chinatown, offering a blend of local and Korean-inspired cuisine and desserts. Housed in a former grocery store, the cafe boasts an ambiance adorned with nostalgic knick-knacks, creating an undeniable charm. While some find the decor hit or miss, the ample seating and clean facilities make it a pleasant hangout spot.
Great place to hangout, cozy & nostalgic. Foods? Absolute 5 stars. Great portion with great value. My food came late at the time (almost an hour) so they gave me a cake as an apology🥹

Nam Joo Café is a cozy and charming spot in Kuching that feels like a step back in time. The vintage décor gives the place a warm, nostalgic vibe, perfect for relaxing with friends or taking some cool photos. The food is delicious, with a mix of local and Korean-inspired dishes. Favorites include the Dakganjeong Chicken, Smashed Chicken with Rice, and the Tonkotsu Ramen. Don’t miss the Banana Cheese dessert—it’s crispy, sweet, and super satisfying. They also have great drinks like Longan Milk, fruit slushes, and refreshing teas. The staff are friendly and make you feel right at home. If you’re in Kuching and looking for a unique café experience, Nam Joo Café is definitely worth a visit!

Folks.. If you find yourself strolling along the waterfront in Kuching and need a little pick-me-up, Nam Joo Cafe is worth a look. It's a perfectly fine spot to take a break. Best Pick: The highlight here, for me, was definitely the Earl Grey Cheesecake. That's a definite yum moment and worth trying if you stop by. The coffee is decent too, hitting the spot when you need a caffeine fix. All in all, it's a good enough place to pop into. Just okay, but that cheesecake really shines!

Really original restaurant with out of the box seating and decoration. Imitating like and old store, warehouse you can seat and eat on a desk or behind the shelves or in a round table with your friends. Food was good, balanced, well-cooked and came fast. Tried the smoked duck rice and the pop-corn chicken nuggets. I would go back to try more.

SO SOOO GOOD MAN . This cafe need to be viral , pls . i want even more people can try this cafe . the food the drinks the service . ughh . loveit ! gonna repeat soon .

The aesthetic of Nam Joo is astounding, not only in selection and eclecticness but too the sheer variance and depth, allthemore evident the further down the narrow but surprisingly deep cafe you wander. Pictures from the average phone camera likely don't do it justice; it's one simply best enjoyed with one's own eyes, with a selection of tabling and seating best chosen upon when set before one. Not to be forgotten, its beverages and miscellaneous servings aren't far overshadowed, and pull well worth their own weight. For the local of or the traveller to central, Gambier-side Kuching, as far as bev joints go, this is amongst the most essential visits.

We had a great time here! The Dakgangjeong fried chicken was delicious—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and had a nice sweet glaze. The tempeh and sweet potato slices were perfectly crispy, and the fried calamari tasted good, though it was a bit chewy. The oolong tea was refreshing and went well with the food. The place was clean, with a calm, chill vibe. The music was great too—they were playing Cigarettes After Sex, which we loved. Overall, we enjoyed everything and will definitely come back!

If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience, look no further than 林記 Ling’s Kopitiam. This charming spot is perfect for coffee lovers, offering a rich brew that keeps patrons coming back for more. The prices are quite reasonable, making it an ideal choice for solo diners or families alike. While the soup receives praise, some dishes like the chicken may not hit the mark in terms of freshness and flavor.
The nasi lemak rendang ayam is pretty flavourful with spicy and sweet sambal and tender chicken. The Portuguese egg tart is decent. The ambience is not cold (perhaps due to the hot weather and glass windows). Good place to have lunch as it is not crowded.

Ordered Iced Hainan Kopi, Salad Fried Chicken Rice & Chicken Fried Rice. The place is crowded, waitied around 30-4t min for the food. The food tastes ok, a bit salty, the sambal given is too little anyway.
SX K — Google review
The coffee is good because I am a coffeeholic. The price is affordable for single person. Depends on your financial condition. I love the soup but no the chicken. It is bland and it felt it has been out for sometime not so fresh. You can try as their service is top notch. I waited less than 10 minutes for my drink and food. Because i love the coffee, i ended up tapau one home. You dont have to take my words as I dont cook nor I am good at tasting but I can say, I love the coffee.
Nguyyyen — Google review
atmosphere quite good, the chairs and tables are comfortable. Beverages are nice and unique like Hainan salted coffee or butter coffee butthe foods got problems, I ordered Ling's breakfast and not the first time already but still no improvement. 1. They don't have baked bean but they won't say it can change if the customers didn't request for. Not the first time I eat this and realised that. 2. Ham inside the Ling's breakfast always overcooked, until it was very tough to bite, need to be aware. 3. The raw salad is Cabbage with Mayo, but have to remain that please always remember don't serve the customers with the hard part of the Cabbage, and tossed with salt&pepper if possible, or not u will always receive bad review from customers. 4. The menu mentioned is Ham and Cheese Egg Pancake, but it's just something like roti canal with egg when it served. Also it serve with Cucumber slice as the side? 5. The foods serving time too long, there is no others customers in shop but still have to wait more than 30mins for a Ling's breakfast and a pancake.
Samuel S — Google review
Roti kahwin and nasi lemak are delicious, but the Hainanese chicken rice I don’t know why even the rice was salty, and the chili sauce was salty too. The whole plate was just too salty. I’m someone who actually enjoys strong flavors, but this Hainanese chicken rice was so salty it felt like I was drinking seawater.
Tillo A — Google review
I personally like the prawn noodles, tastes like home. Butter chicken was equally good. The only thing is the service. We waited about 30 minutes for our food to arrive, even the drink didn't arrive first, and many food out of stock when it was only 6PM. Suggestions for improvement: 1. Update the menu. Certain code doesn't match the code in the photo. 2. Give cutleries according to number of customers instead of giving 1 set at a time. 3. Make sure food stock is available before taking order. Overall I'm satisfied with the food, just upgrade the service and I'll be back for more. Seeing that it's new, I think need some time to improve. Looking forward for the improvement. Update: I went back for the prawn noodles, but they don't sell it anymore. I ordered dry curry noodles instead, and it's nothinf like the photo. I see some fish cakes and fishballs, and some other toppings. I only get a few pieces of taugeh and a piece of chicken topped woth curry gravy. Not to say it has to look exactly like the photo, but at least the ingredients should match. The salad chicken rice was the same. In the photo it looks like brownish fried chicken topped with salad. In reality it's just whitish coloured fried chicken. And, I asked for tissue. She said depan sana, and never bother to bring it. Sorry to say, I'm never coming back. After these years I thought it has improved but no.
Su S — Google review
It’s unfair to see other people who patronized this shop to give such a low ratings. My family and I enjoyed the dinner meal at this place on last Saturday. There are variety of choices and the taste of the food was commendable - above average. The ambience was nice, air-conditioned place and clean. The photos shared shall provide justifications.

After we came in and sat down and ordered our food, almost all the other tables were served and come out with their food & drink. there were only 2-3 tables of customers. We finish eat but the drink still havent come.. rice is cold, curry is warm, feel curry color light yellow, no curry taste, is the kind of water. And then this noodle soup, like MSG got big sale. The salted hainan coffee is nice to drink..

It's a pretty cafe, located in front of the waterfront river. The view was fantastic. The cafe itself is surrounded by all the trees and very gardeny. 1st time cuba this place. love the place. Curry laksa was nice cuma sikit manis. Tomyam laksa not so much because it tasted too sweet for a tomyam dish. but we managed to finish our food. in term of price agak pricey sikit lah, restaurant kinda price lah. memang dah dijangka considering it is a bistro and cafe and located at tourist spot. just didnt like the way the toilet was, with the door wide open nampak macam tak proper sikit lah. just my opinion lah hoh.

Absolutely gorgeous interior. Full of Sarawak things. Food was decent, i ordered a vegetarian friendly laksa (can't remember the name) and it tasted good, but my friend who ordered his mee goreng mamak said it was too salty. Prices were on the steep end too. Overall its a good place to dine in every once in a while

We visited three times during our visit to Kuching, the first was purely because the torrential rain started and it was the closest place to run and shelter. We just stopped for a couple of drinks, however the menu looked enticing enough for us to return on 2 more occasions for food and drink. Cannot fault the service, the food and the prices were more than reasonable. Get the timing right for the evening meal and you'll get to see the evening light show.
Ed H — Google review
Did actually think a lot about whether to dine here because I was actually more interested in trying local food than dine in a western restaurant, but actually in Kuching the options at night are rather limited as most of the local place close very early. I had a look at the menu and saw some interesting options so decided to give it a try. Located along the promenade and a very convenient location, though its quite dark at night you couldn't see much happening at the promenade other than people. Service of the staff could be improved. Was a little slow getting them to take orders. One walked to me to say he would come take my order and he forgot. The other I asked for recommendations and he just said don't know. There were a few different kinds of laksa, and I just went with my gut feel to randomly pick one. The other was the dish which made me sat down was the sweet potato fries. And I also ordered a lemongrass drink. First came the lemongrass drink. Tasted pretty okay but for 15RM its definitely on the expensive side. Then came the laksa and bang, it was exactly the flavours I liked and they really executed it very well with the right taste and the right noodles. Very satisfying bowl of noodles and because it was so satisfying it was value for the money. The sweet potato fries was a little disappointing. Didn't expect them to sprinkle black pepper on top of the fries, which tasted so weird and they gave me tomato sauce as a dip. Looked like they cut a whole sweet potato and it was just too much for me after the bowl of noodles. That bowl of laksa saved the meal else the rating might have been even lower. If you ask me that might be one of the best bowls of laksa I have tasted in Kuching. Hits and misses but overall satisfying meal. It would be worth a 3.5 more than a 3.
Matthew L — Google review
No other customer but I waited half an hour for my order- just a plate of finger food. Came without cutleries, and the server didn't give us any after requested. I ended up using my fingers. Server attitude also not friendly, give me a sour face even though mixing up my order after I waited for 30 minutes. The wash basin is very dirty. The setting is nice, good view and scenery. Good place to hang out if you have a lot of time and money.

cute little restaurant and "art-cafe" with amazing food and very friendly staff. They have very good vegan and vegetarian options, which I loved. (They even had a very delicious vegan chocolate cake!). The food is fresh, healthy and authentic. I highly recommend visiting this place, during your time in Kuching. They also sell some local arts and crafts there and they also have a very nice homemade sambal you can buy, to take with you.

Came across this "hidden gem" when walking at carpenter and gave it a try. Definitely worth it, the place is chill and the food is giving the "homemade" vibe. Flavour is there, seasoned well and good portion. The price is okay maybe around RM30 per per person with drinks. The environment is great, is chill, quiet and tons of arts which i love. But bare in mind they close kinda early. But overall great food and experience there.

I’ve always enjoyed this place and have ordered the cold soba many times. However, this visit (around 2pm today) was really disappointing. I ordered the ubilicious Tempe and cold soba, which used to be my favorite. Sadly, the portion of ubilicious tempe has become noticeably smaller. The worst part — the soba noodles were overly soft and soggy, almost as if they had been sitting in water too long. I couldn’t eat it at all. I gave feedback and was told it was a kitchen mistake, and they offered to remake it. After a long wait, the second bowl came… and it had the exact same issue. Again I gave feedback, and again was told it was a kitchen problem. No resolution was offered besides another apology. Honestly, it ruined my mood for the day. Really hope they improve consistency and kitchen quality, because this used to be a go-to spot for me

The food was high quality. The staff were so friendly. It was a great place to chill and enjoy for a few hours. We really enjoyed it. They had many food and drink options. There are meat options if one wants vegan and other is a meat eater.

This café is run by several ladies as a cooperative, serving healthy, traditional food, while showcasing and selling local artwork. Cooking classes are also offered. The café is fairly small with limited outdoor seating, and half a dozen or so tables in the rear. The modest chairs and tables are clean and add to the charm of the place. When we ate here, we were pleased to see a group of 8 locals enjoying a hearty meal. The menu offers individual plates, or combinations, and caters for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans. We ordered the beef rendang sharing platter and the chicken masak mereh. Both the beef and the chicken were delicious, made even better by authentic home-made sauces. One small negative observation would be the extensive use of microwave ovens to reheat the food. I totally understand that some of these dishes can take hours to prepare and so they need to be reheated prior to serving. In the case of the chicken, though, this led to a number of both hot and cold spots in the meat itself. Reheating gently in a pot instead would likely achieve a more even heat distribution. Other than this, we thoroughly enjoyed the rich, authentic flavours of the food. The overall price of the meal was very modest too and our hosts were really pleasant too.

Warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff and incredibly fresh and tasty food. The cooking class was a delight, I learnt so much about the traditional cuisine and the portions were considerable!

Basaga Holiday Residences Kuching Sarawak offers a laid-back atmosphere with informal rooms, an open-air bar, and a restaurant. The outdoor pool provides a nice spot to relax. Guests have found the spacious and clean rooms to be enjoyable, although some minor maintenance issues were noted in the bathrooms. The hotel is housed in an old structure building with antique floor tiles and walls, creating a serene ambiance despite its central location in Kuching.
Spent the 1st night of a 2 week holiday with The Great Projects here. Thought it was a lovely place, pool area was nice. Rooms are spacious & clean. A little maintenance in the bathroom with a leaky tap but otherwise fine. (stayed an impromptu night here half way through & again on the last night in different rooms & these were higher standard) we had been staying in very basic accommodation in the jungle during the rest of the holiday so it was absolute luxury on the last night! The staff are helpful & very friendly especially the breakfast chef Christine. She remembered my mum & I each time she saw us & gave us a very warm welcome asking about how our trip was. Looking forward to visiting again one day. I recommend Basaga.

To start with the positive, the staff is really nice and helpful the location is superb and the restaurant and bar area have a nice atmosphere and feel to it. However, the room is very very basic, it had mold in the corners, squeaky floors boards, hard beds with old looking sheets. No hanging or drying space. The shower curtain was to short and it was hard to set the right temperature. The TV and night lamp didn't have the right sockets so they couldn't be used at all.

One of the most serene places in Kuching. The hotel is managed in an old structure building with antique floor tiles and walls. Feels home. The rooms are properly situated and the swimming pool is well maintained. The place has a nice ambiance and a silence to it, although it's situated in the middle of Kuching. I loved their bar and breakfast area the most. Friendly staff and great food with cheapest menu! Definately a winner!

This place is magic! Great location. Just minutes from the airport and Kuching City but once you enter the compound its a world away. I stayed in the Main House room and it was perfect for me. The building is an old (1948) school and exudes is own kind of charm. It was breezy enough to not use the air con and having the windows open just allowed the chirping of the birds to be heard more clearly every morning. What a great treat! Don't check in here if you expecting a cold 5-star hotel environment. Check in here if you can appreciate nature right at your doorstep in a place steeped with its own charm, a sense of history and some really good dishes. Can thoroughly recommend the Umai from the kitchen! A local dish for those who like it spicy! I have tried a few hotels in Kuching but this definitely suits me the most. Interesting building, great staff, terrific Umai and Pasta. 😊😊😊

Had a terrible experience at the hotel. We booked a room with private courtyard. Seem like a nice secluded place for relaxing, turn out to be the worst nightmare! Can't even sleep at all due to the sound from footsteps above us, because of the wood flooring, room has no tv, shower has to be done outside of the room, the bed was too small and the room was too far. We are so curious how the hotel got positive reviews? We paid for 3 days 2 nights, but we checked out after 1 hour checked in. Can't sleep nor rest at all. The lady at the counter not helping at all. This place not even worth a star. Our room was room 21.
DALITA O — Google review
This resort is aging, and poorly maintained. Cleanliness not up to standard, never do maintenance of room, garden is well maintained at the entrance only. Swimming pool is looking fine, but leaf were all over the pool. Shower water pressure is low, water mixer tap is difficult to adjust. Breakfast is simple, nothing much to eat, serve with bread, egg, sausages and fry rice. Not enough workers to handle the resort, workers are a bit laid-back, no supervision. Anywhere the room rate is quite cheap and reasonable, which is a plus point.
Fu L — Google review
Casual comfort at its best that is surrounded by shady trees and lush gardens. Affordable decent accommodation that overlook the hotel pool. Breakfasts were good--with eggs to order. We enjoyed the outdoor dining area. This place is close to other restaurants and shops. Brendan, our host, proved to be an excellent source of local knowledge. He arranged tours for us at great prices and was exceedingly helpful. Basaga Holiday Resort is fairly close to Kuching centre. We walked into town on one occasion but it was too hot to walk back. We were advised to download the GRAB app (the Malaysian equivalent of Uber) which was an easy to use form of affordable transport.
Nicole O — Google review
The place there was very calm as the entire resort was surrounded with trees, giving the impression of staying near the jungle while it is not. The only gripes that i have is the room that me and my friends stayed wasnt the one that we booked ( getting a single queen bed instead of single queen bed + one single bed). The place has an alcohol bar for the Halal concerners. Overall the place was great.

Pinoy Fiesta Ihaw Ihaw offers a change of pace from Malaysian cuisine, featuring the underrated flavors of the Philippines. Run by a Filipino family known for bursting into song while serving, this spot is popular for its satay-coated chicken skewers and sour pork sisig. The menu includes unique vegetable dishes with sunny side toppings and tender, crispy pork knuckle. The atmosphere is described as well-lit and clean, with attentive and polite servers.
The food here is pretty amazing. In my opinion, it has the best crispy pata (pork knuckles) in town. The place can be quite full on weekends so if you're going in big groups it's best to make reservations. Also they play amazing songs that makes you burst into singing randomly.
Grace A — Google review
Mabuhay Philippines!! Unique vegetables meal with sunny side topping. Supposedly to mix altogether while it's hot but I'm a rebel. Loathe having runny yoke on vegetables, so yoke goes to mouth. No mercy! Pork knuckle is tender, the skin is all crispy goodness. A must try if you never tried pork knuckle the Pinoy way. The pork satay is tender and tasty, slightly sweet to my taste. Just your normal kopitiam, this place is well lit and clean. The servers are attentive and polite. Boss is friendly too. Do checkout their Facebook page for latest updates. Recommended.

Excellent food and service. The staff were all friendly and smiling. Chicken adobo had the right balance of flavours, including just the right sweetness with a hint of sour. Beans and pumpkin with coconut sauce was delicious and the 4 seasons drink was beautifully refreshing. Price was reasonable given the quality of the food.
Declan C — Google review
Ordered pork and chicken adobo. Had to wait a while. Can't remember the taste of adobo in Manilla, but I think this one OK. Pork was tender. Plenty of sauce. But portions are smallish. Had to order rice with it to fill up. And it tastes better with rice to offset the strong adobo taste. Service is very laid back to say it politely :). There is a small iron ramp from the street to the restoran for wheelchair users. But one would have to call them timely to reserve the parking space at the ramp to use it. There is no accessible toilet for wheelchair users.

Mom's Laksa Kafe - Jalan Haji Taha is the go-to place for those craving a taste of delicious and authentic Sarawak laksa. This neighborhood cafe has been serving up this Bornean state specialty for over 20 years, earning accolades such as the Fabulous Food 1Malaysia award.
Had an awesome first time experience at Mom’s Laksa. The Pattaya Laksa was delicious, prawns were fresh too. The chicken mee sup was good too, the broth was flavourful. Overall a good experience and will be returning.

Our Grand Entourage had decided to come here for dinner on our second night in Kuching. Unfortunately, my wife had too much to eat already, and had decided to skip dinner altogether. Hence, the rest of us went ahead to try out what was said to be the best Sarawak Laksa place in Kuching. My wife is a laksa connoisseur, and she enjoys all types of laksa. If only she knew how excellent the laksa they serve at this outlet really is, she would definitely have a major regret. So for now, let's keep this review a secret from her... Adam my nephew had sampled this exquisite laksa many times over, and had highly recommended this venue. But upon our arrival, we noticed that the restaurant was almost full, and we were wondering whether they could actually accomodate our Party of 18. Looking in from outside through the large glass window, it looked almost impossible. And we couldnt just walk in, as we had to wait to be seated. All of a sudden, I noticed that my other nephew Aliff had bursted inside, and was clearly seen communicating and negotiating with some of the staffs. I didnt know that Aliff had previously worked in Kuching for one year, and could actually speak a smattering of the local dialects. And before I realize it, the staffs were already clearing a few tables for us, and arranging them all in a linear configuration, to cater for our Party of 18. Well done, Aliff!!! Adam had recommended me to try the Prawn Laksa Pattaya, which I fully obliged and never regretted the choice. The taste was easy on my tummy and the portion was just nice for me, as I am not big on dinners. But the winner was definitely the Nasi Aruk, which was served with a whole Ikan Terubuk Masin, rice and vegetables. My two brothers and also my sister-in-law were game enough to try this dish, and ended up speaking very highly of the delicious local delicacy. The other members of our Grand Entourage had tried the variety of other dishes, such as Nasi Lemak Ayam Penyet, Fried Koey Teow, and Mee Kolok, another local favorite. I was quite interested to try it, but Adam had convinced me to wait, and take it for breakfast the next morning... Hence, that would be another review for another day...

Well the food is great, i give full star for the food . But the process of getting the table is crazy….. i’ve been waiting for so long just to get a table. Well actually we’ve been here the before. But we experience the same issue, which is no want attend us, to be seated. So we left. But since today we still want to taste the food, so we just came here and gamble, for the table. Luckily we still got a table, just have to wait,

Dropped by around 1PM and it was almost full, so be prepared for a crowd. Here, you’ll need to grab the menu, paper, and pencil near the cashier, jot down your order, and pay before they prepare it. Food arrived within 10 minutes. Their signature Laksa Sarawak lives up to the hype, rich in flavor, but not overwhelming. The broth is thick, but just right. Portions are generous and definitely worth the price. The drinks were just okay. They also serve pastries and traditional kuih bongkol. Not too sweet, soft, and really nice. I’d definitely get the laksa and kuih again next time I’m in Kuching.
Selvinia N — Google review
Makanan sedap tapi service sampah. Staff are not well trained. 1- People are queueing at the cashier, no one is attending. Other staffs are just standing in groups not taking initiative to help. 2- New customers came in, no one immediately attend or give menu. The same group of staffs still standing talking among themselves. The customers left without ordering for not being entertained. 3- Cashier took order, not bothering to repeat the order to avoid mistakes. Mistake indeed happened. These kids can do better service if they are trained well. If you want to eat here, expect to give these staff a little bit more than a nudge to get them moving.
S F — Google review
The kuah laksa is thick and authentic — really enjoyed it. However, the mi kolok was a bit underwhelming; no sambal kicap was provided, and the overall taste was a bit bland. Service was average. I waited about 10–15 minutes for the laksa and around 20–25 minutes for the mi kolok. Giving 3 stars for the service because the waiter accidentally spilled iced tea near my table, almost hitting my shoes. She apologized but never came back to clean up the mess. 😂
Amelda Y — Google review
Went here to taste their Laksa Sarawak and Mee Kolok. The food was moderate but not bad. Laksa Sarawak - 3/5 For someone who tried it for the first time, the broth was pretty good but personally it can be too much for me. Love that they are not stingy on the seafoods though. Mee Kolok Ayam Blackpaper - 4/5 I personally prefer their Mee Kolok better than Laksa Sarawak. It’s more light and has more subtle flavour. I actually was afraid to eat here cause of many complaints regarding their staff but during my visit the staff was really nice.

Old Rex Cucur Udang Cafe is a must-visit for those craving the delightful crunch of crispy cucur udang, also known as prawn fritters. These local delicacies are made with small prawns coated in batter and deep-fried to perfection. Served with a side of dipping sauce, they make for a satisfying snack or can be enjoyed alongside other dishes.
Finally made my way back here after more than 2 years — and it’s still as good as I remember! The prawn fritters are the real OG — crispy, flavourful, and perfect when dipped in the chili sauce with crushed peanuts. So addictive! Also had the shaved ice treats — went for the Milo Jagung and ABC. You get two for RM10, which is a good deal considering the generous amount of jagung and Milo powder in the MJ. Sweet, satisfying, and perfect for the weather. I also noticed the owner has set up a strong blower/portable aircon and fans to keep the place cool and comfy — really thoughtful touch for an indoor/outdoor setup! Definitely planning to bring my friends over soon. Gotta make sure everything’s still up to standard before introducing it to my friend visiting from KK. 😄

Old Rex Cucur Udang Café is definitely one of the best in town. Their signature prawn cracker is perfectly crispy, while the fishball has a nice chewy bite that makes it very enjoyable. A great spot for those who love traditional snacks done right.

Old Rex cucur udang always tasty and crispy, not oily. Besides that, this cafe also serves one of the best char kueh in Kuching. Their laksa is creamy and flavorful. Not forgetting the ABC too. This cafe is like the OG of yummy traditional snacks.

What would be the best when tried to get some cheat foods during noon time or Sunday, the best in town for prawn crackers and lok lok at the Old Rex Cucur Udang Cafe. Must order their Ice Ice Kacang ABC for chilling down when eating hot foods in hot weather, to avoid crowds you may come during day time on weekday or 11-2pm is also the best time. Price is reasonable and our expenses is around 30-40 for 4person.

Elephant Cafe & Bistro is a charming and cozy spot that's perfect for a laid-back get-together with friends, offering a variety of Western dishes. The cafe boasts spacious and comfortable surroundings, adorned with lovely decor including elephant-themed artwork. While the mushroom soup is praised for its authentic flavor, some items like the French fries could use improvement. The menu features popular options such as Roasted Rosemary Chicken, Smoked Duck Salad, Chicken Carbonara, and Sandwich Combo at reasonable prices.
I almost missed passing by this restaurant! 😂I initially thought it was a place for a casual drink at night! 🍺It turns out it's their 24th anniversary! 🥳Lunchtime here is packed with people, all office workers from nearby. What a hidden gem of a restaurant! Personally recommend their "Aglio Olio" dish, topped with what looks like Honey Thigh Chicken and sprinkled with white sesame seeds. The pasta 🍝 is perfectly cooked, with a great texture ❤️This year happens to be their 24th anniversary, and they're offering lunch sets (Lunch - RM18 Main Dish with Soup) / (Dinner - 2 mixed grill and an extra grilled chicken chop) with some limited edition menus ❤️ The ambiance here is clean and comfortable too!

The price is reasonable. The portion is big but not that you can't finish it. Hasn't change much over the years.. in a good way. The atmosphere is.. how to put it.. quite plain. Not much to look at. But still comfortable. Definitely not romantic but more of a casual place to hangout. Highly recommended to those seeking to satisfy their cravings for western cuisine..

Environment is nice and spacious(not crowded like other places). Thus, have more privacy and feel more comfortable. Lighting is just fine with beautiful decorations around. Love the elephants picture too. The mushroom soup is the taste of real mushroom, not artificial one. French fries need a lot of improvement(tasteless). Salmon and fish and chips are of average. Prices are reasonable with wide selection from the menu. Service is not too bad. I highly recommend this place to everyone...

Yeow Kee Kopitiam is a bustling coffee shop that offers a variety of delicious dishes and drinks. In the morning, it hosts numerous hawker stalls, while in the evening, it serves simple home-cooked meals from its back kitchen. The place is always packed, especially during mornings and weekends, making parking a challenge. However, visitors can enjoy good value for money with their individual dishes like tomato noodles and bee hoon. The staff is known for being friendly and humorous.
This is one of the best non-halal kopitiam chinese style nearby Tabuan Heights. It is always packed with humans & always crowded, so don't try it if you are impatient person. If you still wanna try, don't go during peak hours. It is full of super tasty, fast service and small food stalls. You can find a variety of stalls inside this kopitiam, foo chow noodles, homemade noodle, ding bian hu, popiah, nasi ayam or babi, dumpling etc. The beverages service is a bit messy & unorganized but the service is quick and fast though. A must try menu here are the dumplings, popiah & homemade noodle (front area). They accept cash only for most of the stalls.

Yeow Kee Kopitiam is always bustling with customers and it can be quite challenging to find a table, especially during morning breakfast hours — waiting for a spot is almost expected here. One of the must-try dishes is their pork meat dumpling soup. The dumplings are delicious, with a smooth texture and no trace of pork smell, making the soup light yet flavorful. Another popular choice is the laksa which is rich and tasty, served with a generous portion of ingredients and bee hoon. The prawns and toppings give it a satisfying balance of flavor and substance.

Tried a few dishes from Pang Onn and while most were just okay, the fried rice was a huge letdown. As you can see from the photo, it was way too mushy—almost like sticky rice. Definitely not what we expected. Prices were also on the higher side, which made the whole experience a bit disappointing.

Has a good selection of food but it is often crowded. The chairs are stool style so it is best to dine in quickly rather than lepak for a long time at this kopitiam. The laksa has a huge portion but the flavour is very mild, almost diluted, so it was tough to finish. The dumplings were pretty good and tender, one of the most famous dishes here.

Imperial Duck is a renowned restaurant in Kuching, Malaysia, celebrated for its delectable duck dishes. The menu features an array of options including Roasted Duck Rice and Smoked Duck Noodles, offering a delightful oriental experience. Known for its generous portions and boneless duck meat, the restaurant has received rave reviews from satisfied customers.
Imperial Duck in Kuching is one of those places that’s been around for ages—and honestly, you can tell when you walk in. The décor’s pretty old-school, but somehow that just adds to the charm. The duck here is legit delicious—super juicy and packed with flavour, with a crispy skin that’s just so satisfying. Every bite makes you want more. The soup tastes like it’s been simmered for hours, warm and soothing like comfort food on a rainy day. If you’re a noodle fan, you’ll love their noodles too—nice and springy, and the sauce is spot-on.

Bad service, are they lacking staff or is it a self-service restaurant? When I first stepped into the restaurant, I've already had a premonition. It was dimly lit despite the fact it was late morning. We were not served the menu when when we sat down. Had to ask one of the waiters and instead of bringing it to my table, just rudely handed it to me. Is there no staff training? The table near ours also had no one taking their order of drinks after being sat for 15 minutes . After a few moments looking at the menu, it came to our attention the table was filthy. (How is it A grade??)Place is called imperial duck but everything else we had ordered was better than the duck(it was tough).

Imperial Duck is known for serving the best roast duck in town — expertly roasted with crispy skin and juicy, flavourful meat. The noodles are springy and tasty, complementing the roast duck well. The roast pork has a good crunch and flavour, though it’s slightly firm in texture. Still, a solid spot for roast duck lovers.

Don't forget to check out their cakes & breads, too! Drinks We Enjoyed: The Watermelon was super refreshing. The Chai was great, and Babyccino was a hit too! Exceptional Service: The staff here are incredibly helpful. If you're planning a birthday surprise, just let them know — they're happy to assist!

Keeper’s Ground is a gem of a restaurant that delivers on both food and atmosphere. I’ve visited several times, and it never fails to impress with its delicious menu and cozy yet vibrant ambiance. The service is generally attentive, and it’s a great spot whether you’re dining solo or with friends. However, I did encounter a small hiccup during one visit when I invited a group of friends. Some of them are big guys, and unfortunately, on a busy evening, we were seated at an area with their default chairs, which were quite small and uncomfortable for some of them. While this was a minor inconvenience, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning to dine with a diverse group of guests. Perhaps offering a mix of seating options would make the experience even better. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Keeper’s Ground to anyone looking for a great dining spot. Despite that one issue, it remains one of my favorite restaurants, and I’ll definitely be back!

My dirty chai and earl grey chocolate cake were fairly bland tasting, no wow to my palate but grateful to not be overloaded with sugar. Will have to try the food meals another time...a good range of choices on the menu. Presentation was beautiful and the space has a lively but cool, casual, comfy and chill vibe. Staff are attentive.

I had the pumpkin beef lasagna, flavourful and unique. A lot of cake selection to choose from for desserts, red velvet cake was delicious. The interior design is pretty and comfortable environment. Always packed with customers during peak hours but the captain there is always attentive and lead the staff team well. Maybe if he can put a smile a bit on that handsome face. 🙂

Oriental Park Kolo Mee is a renowned dish in Sarawak, featuring springy egg noodles tossed in pork lard and shallot oil, topped with minced pork and char siew. The price has increased over the years, but it remains a popular choice for locals and visitors alike. While some find the char siew slightly dry, others appreciate its strong garlicky flavor.
Whatever bad juju recent reviewers encountered at OP, I did not experience it. As a matter of fact, it was the total opposite. Where's the rudeness and impatience? None. Nada. Zilch! 😉 The older couple, probably in their late 1970's or early 1980's (and probably set in their ways as well) who prepped and cooked, and the younger attendants attending to orders and serving, were all welcoming and polite, and even took time to explain to me the differences in the types of Kolo Mee they offer. I had no trouble taking photos of my food and the OP, and the owners didn't eke a whimper of discontentment. Where's the lack of hygiene? None. Nada. Zilch! 😉 Tucked in the back alley and car park is the dilapidated Oriental Park frozen in its 1960's or 1970's glory. Inadvertently, the old, rugged environment accentuates OP's focus to tradition, especially in the Kolo Mee that OP serves. Therefore, please don't expect the wazoo of a refurbished spick and span eatery or restaurant (which seems to be a trend these days), coz you won't find it at OP. Tables were cleaned the moment the previous customer had finished and left. The cleaning attendant went beyond wiping my table down the second time with a newly washed cleaning cloth. The chopsticks are disposable ones enveloped in plastic. The spoons, together with the disposable chopsticks are contained in a plastic container. So, what's so unhygienic about that? Where's the bad, average Kolo Mee? None. Nada. Zilch! 😉 This being my third Kolo Mee experience in Kuching, it's by far the best one I've had. The passion and artistry the old couple permeated into making my 2 small bowls of Kolo Mee were nothing short of amazing---and given their age, they should be retired, basking in some 5* sea resort over their accomplishments and contributions to the Sarawakian cuisine, and this Sarawakian delicacy called Kolo Mee. I had the small white and small red Kolo Mee. The noodles themselves were unique---crinkly, curly and al dente, dressed in fragrant, silky and savoury deep-fried lard and shallot oil combo, and topped with a few slices of lean but porky Char Siew (BBQ Pork), and a small amount of smoky minced pork. The overall sheer simplicity of OP's Kolo Mee truly makes it one of the "Foods of the Gods" of Sarawak... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I preferred the white over the red, simply because the red Char Siew oil/sauce mulled the quintessential fragrance brought by the deep-fried lard and shallot oil combo. My only gripe is that there's no accompanying small bowl of broth. I love broth! 😅 I'll return to OP when I visit Kuching again, hopefully I'd be fortunate enough to re-live the same wonderful experience that I had today. Thanks everyone, at OP for my Kolo Mee experience. 👏👏👏

"A Bowl of Flavour, a Side of Hostility” Tucked away in a quiet lane near Limbongan Brooke and the Kuching mosque lies Oriental Park Kolok Mee — a humble, no-frills coffee shop that many food lovers seek out for its famed Sarawakian noodles. The kolo mee here comes in two portions - RM8 for a small and RM10 for a big - and delivers on flavour. The noodles were beautifully fragrant, full of that signature nostalgic aroma, and paired with generous slices of tender, savoury char siew that impressed the palate. However, while the food might draw you in, the hospitality might drive you right back out. Despite respectfully explaining that I discovered this hidden gem through online posts - just like many others I was harshly stopped from taking any photos or videos. The owner went as far as to threaten police action, a truly baffling and unacceptable overreach. As someone who has contributed to Google Reviews for over a decade, this was hands-down the most insulting and hostile reaction I've encountered. Great food should be celebrated and shared, not shielded behind fear and intimidation. Sadly, despite the quality of the kolo mee, I won't be returning after this shockingly unpleasant experience. Some places forget that hospitality is just as important as what's served on the plate.

Heard it was a hit and miss spot. First time coming here and i find that that the red one is the best. Most flavourful. Black was quite bland. Charsiew for all of them was pretty nice. Will come back for the red kolomee Ranking: Red White Black

If there’s one food mystery I’ll never understand, it’s Oriental Park Noodle. So many people rave about how delicious it is — some even call it legendary. But for me? Every time I go, it’s like my taste buds vanish into thin air. Today was my third attempt, and just like the previous two, it disappointed me again. The noodles were below average — no fragrance, no depth, just bland. I kept asking myself, What am I eating? Where’s the taste? Even the soup, as simple as it is, didn’t help. And I know we’re supposed to go there for the noodles, but sorry — the soup completes the package for me, and this one just didn’t cut it. Like always, I couldn’t even finish the bowl. I ended up crossing the road and saving myself with a better one elsewhere. That’s why I say it’s a mystery — everyone seems to love it, but I just don’t get it. Maybe it’s just not for me. One man’s meat is another man’s poison, after all. I really can’t force myself to like something I don’t.
Liam W — Google review
This was my second visit to this shop — my first was two years ago, and the food was delicious back then. Unfortunately, when I visited again yesterday, it was a complete disappointment. The noodles were stuck together, and I had ordered the red kolomee… but as you can see from the photo, there was no red at all. Even after mixing well, the noodles still lacked the signature color and taste. On top of that, the service was poor and lacking basic courtesy. I won’t be returning — there are plenty of better kolo mee options in town with far better service.
Leona L — Google review
Above average Mee Kolok. Basically mee Kolok is a staple food in Sarawak so it can't go that wrong. But a few places are exceptionally better. Oriental is one of em. Char Siew is slightly more chargrilled. Weirdly, not allowed to take pictures of the establishment but it's fine. Was there to eat. Not photograph. So you only get a picture of the noodles from me :)
Prashan X — Google review
Like many other reviews, this Kopitiam is a hit or miss for Kolo Mee Eaters. The noodles and char siew are slightly dry and the soup is oily yet slightly fragent. Although some may say this is the "best" kolo mee, it is quite ordinary. As other reviews has mentioned, the auntie cooking the noodles can be quite rude when being approached. Yet, the waitress is hospitalible and kind with her smiles and cheerfulness. For future encounters, find a seat and wait to be serve (or as the auntie says). Parking is a hassle as it is located right in the centre of town, with the current KUTS construction going on, accessibility is difficult but may improve once the construction is completed (fingers crossed). You may need to park further than expected. Overall, a moderate experience but not recommended for usual kolo mee eaters or even first time eaters.

Sushi Zanmai at Vivacity Megamall is a pricy establishment, but the quality justifies the cost. While there may be a slight wait on weekends, the service remains efficient and friendly. The portions are reasonable for the price, and the food is excellent. I particularly enjoyed the unatama don (L size), kaisen nabe + udon set, salmon zanmai set, and ice peach tea. The seafood is fresh and delicious.
Sushi Zanmai at Vivacity Megamall is a reliable choice for Japanese cuisine. The sushi is fresh and well-prepared, with a variety of options to suit different tastes. From classic rolls to specialty dishes, there’s plenty to enjoy. The service is attentive, and orders are handled efficiently. I’ve been eating at Sushi Zanmai for years, and it’s always been one of my favorite sushi spots. The food is still good, but I do feel like it tasted better in the past. I’ve been a Saba fish lover for years, so I think I know it well. Unfortunately, today’s Saba was the worst I’ve ever had — bitter, overcooked, and far too fishy. 😅 My main dish was the Spicy Ramen… err… sorry, not recommended. On the bright side, the Salmon Mentai Roll, Zaru, and Chicken Karaage were decent. 👍🏻 But overall, it’s my first and last time here.

We booked a special room at this place and tried the Spicy Ebi Ramen (I think) - though it wasn’t spicy at all, it tasted decent. I’m usually not a fan of sushi, but I have to say, the sushi was absolutely bussin’!

We understand that weekends can be very busy with many customers. But even during off-peak hours when there aren’t many customers, the staff’s attitude is really poor. They have no patience with us as customers. We are paying service tax — so why are we being treated this way? Even something as basic as tea, which is supposed to be refillable, wasn’t refilled. We had to ask several times, and when it finally came, it was given reluctantly. Your food is delicious, but every time we experience such service from the staff, it really creates unnecessary stress. This is not the first time. Try myself to give few chances, but still no improve.

Rojak Rasid Batu Lintang is a must-visit culinary gem in Kuching, renowned for its delectable rojak ayam. This delightful dish features crispy fried chicken generously coated in a rich peanut gravy, complemented by an assortment of fritters, tofu, and bean sprouts. The stall is particularly bustling on weekends when it also offers rice biryani.
This popular Kuching eatery is famous for its delicious rojak, especially the Rojak Kucei (Vege fritters, fried chicken and gravy), though prices can be slightly high to some. I first visited this place in 1996, and it has become one of my favorite joints ever since. It is usually crowded with long queues, so arriving early is advisable. Despite the limited parking and seating, the prompt service and friendly staff make it a must-visit spot for anyone in Kuching. A must try! Bon Appetit!

1. Taste Average but It has a subtle sweetness, just enough to balance the flavors. 2. Texture & Mouthfeel The mouthfeel and texture are acceptable, nothing extraordinary but satisfactory. 3. Presentation & Appearance The dish is presented well enough to maintain a positive impression. 4. Aroma The aroma is moderate, neither too strong nor too faint. 5. Creativity & Uniqueness The creativity and uniqueness are okay, with nothing particularly remarkable. 6. Temperature The food is served at an acceptable temperature, neither too hot nor too cold. 7. Value for Money With the portion and price, this dish is definitely worth the money.

As long as I can remember, it’s the most famous place for decades to have Indian rojak growing up in Kuching. Honestly I can’t remember how it used to be after a long hiatus of not being around. They also serve other dishes like Mee Jawa etc.. During my recent visit, I still like the taste of the rojak, but the quantity has shrunk considerably and one serving can be rather small. Maybe it’s inflation and the rising cost of everything… but still worth a try if you’re in the area! I’ve read negative comments on the waiting time and bad service. I’m unclear what happened, but during my visits there the service was always smooth, quick and efficient. If you waited too long, your order may have been forgotten so just remind them as it’s always pretty busy for them. Parking is rather difficult to find, so a little luck and patience is needed before you this rojak in your tummy !
Katherine Y — Google review
Tried the rojak ayam based on the many great reviews, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations. The sauce was thick but lacked flavour, and the fried chicken tasted quite bland. I also noticed the fritters had a slightly sour taste, which was off-putting. On the bright side, service was fast and efficient.
Iman I — Google review
The one and only rojak kucei at Batu Lintang, loved by locals from all walks of life. I'd give it 5 stars if their dhall and biryani was better tho 🤔 had this odd thick spiced up taste to it and not in the one you'd expect, also biryani is only biryani when it's made with basmati rice. But all things considered this is still the one and only beloved rojak kucei

This is a very popular rojak stall run by Malay stall holder. I went at about 8.45am and the wueue is already quite long, 7 queuers in front. It seems tgat more of tge serves are for those sit in customers as the queue tgere moves faster. It seems that they only serve 2 dishes, rojak ayam or rojak biasa.

For those from outside Kuching or from o, do try this place if possible. But come early before 9.00am as this place is very popular with locals. Compared to similar food offered in other places, the fritters are crispy and the gravy is spiced adequately with a hint of palm (nipah) sugar sweetness.
Norwin N — Google review
I went because it was highly recommended by my friend but find it quite disappointing. The sauce is too bland and tasteless, and the portion is too small. Chicken is good, though.

A cosy and calming cafe serving mostly western dishes and cakes with freshly roasted coffee. The atmosphere is homely with warm wooden decor, soft acoustic music and golden hour lighting. The menu is only located at the front counter near the cake display, tip jar and assorted biscuits for purchase. You can also order drinks and pick up outside. The food is expensive. Expect to spend up to RM 50 for a meal, a drink and a cake. I tried the RM 13 matcha Crepe cake and it had a very strong matcha flavour but at least wasn't too sweet. I had RM 20 carbonara and RM 14 Passion Soda. The carbonara was creamy and nice. Portion was just right for me but it may not be satisfying for big eaters. The passion soda was sweet and refreshing like regular passion fruit. I liked the music and ambience but the meals were quite expensive. Do prepare your wallet if eating here. Nothing mind-blowing about the food but I received fast and friendly service. I would come again for a rare treat or to read at the lovely tables. Have attached menu for reference.

I can easily say that this place really isnt it. Took the “Scrambled Egg Mushroom Avocado Toast” and was extremely dissapointed about the amount of food. I can literally eat this 4 times and then I might be satisfied. They asked 25 RM for this. Went to the bathroom afterwards and found a little snack over there. If you ask high prices, make sure the quality of the food and hygiene are high as well.

For many years I’ve not visited them, but decided to check them out again after seeing some FB posts about their new menu. To my disappointment, the food was so underwhelming. I ordered the Avocado on toast: the toast was the smallest and thinnest slice I’ve ever had in Kuching, the avocado slices were super thin and not fully ripe, the scrambled eggs were sad too. I also ordered a caramel macchiato latte Extra Large, too sweet and coffee was just not nice. In total i paid RM41 for the avocado on toast and coffee. After that meal we went to Secret Recipe for 2nd round cause we were still hungry 😂 Looks like it will be another few more years before I visit them again 😅😅

The seafood is fresh and juicy, personally think it’s better than Top Spot. Price also reasonable. Love the giant squid the most and they cooked the squids just nice, not over cooked or still raw. overrated seafood. Waiter was very rude as we took our order, showing her displeasure when we chose not to order what she “wanted” us to order. They also didn’t care when we reflected issues of food flies and a stray cat (which seems to have been adopted by them) jumping onto us. Food flies were a huge issue the moment we sat down. The hygiene is concerning. Food was mid at best but with quite premium prices compared to other seafood shops. Also note that you’ll be charged a parking fee of 5 ringgit to park within the vicinity.

Nice setup for the place as it is just located beside river. Tourist spot. Crowded during lunch hour. Unfortunately the serving is very slow, next dish only serve after finish the 1st one so can't really have the flow to enjoy our meal. Taste is ok, prawn is fresh.

Thoroughly disappointed. Food standard in terms of freshness & taste has dropped. (1) The stir fried belacan fern/midin was way too oily with no belacan taste. (2) The salted egg yolk prawn tasted as if it has been kept frozen for quite some time. Had a frozen taste & not sweet. (3) Fried malicai/changkuk manis seafood beehoon was equally disappointing. The squid & prawns weren't fresh. The sweetness of the malicai/changkuk manis was camouflaged by some salty condiments & pepper powder the "chef" had added. Not returning to the place...EVER!

When in Kuching, a must-visit spot is Sin Lian Shin for their famous Sarawak Kolo Mee. This eatery has been dishing out authentic kolo mee for over 50 years, drawing crowds of eager customers as soon as they open. The springy egg noodles are tossed in pork lard and shallot oil, then topped with minced pork and char siew.
Took a trip out of Kuching downtown to Sin Lian Shin for the locals' choice for Kolo mee, and I didn't leave disappointed. Normally I would have preferred the OG white version but here I liked the Red Char Siew sauce version better. I thought the OG needed just a little more kick from some pork lard or oil but overall it was very good for me compared to others in Kuching. The noodles were springy, al dente, and tasty, coated evenly with the seasoning. Be prepared for a 30 minute wait during busy periods due to the constant flow of locals and regulars.

This place serves hands-down the best kolo mee in Kuching, especially the red version—which is my personal favorite. The noodles are perfectly cooked, flavorful, and always hit the spot. The coffee shop is often packed, and you might have to wait a little, but it’s always worth it. A must-try for any kolo mee lover!
Joseph K — Google review
This is the legendary kolo mee shop in Kuching. More known among the locals, and less hyped up for tourist crowd. Judging by the daily crowd, it bears testament to their legacy of preparing one of the best kolo mee in Kuching for so many years already. It only serves up kolo mee, kiuh tiew, bee hoon and wantan . It is so packed that they have 2 cooking stations on weekends to cater to the demand. Even then , one has to be prepared to wait.....but it is definitely worth the wait. The kolo mee here has that distinct pork lard aroma and flavour to the aldente cooked kolo mee. The single shoplot coffee shop has maintain that nostalgic old coffee shop charm despite the crowd, rush and heat. But at least the front staff , especially the young man who is part of the shop family, are all still friendly, patient and cheerful to serve you.

Went to try thr famous green road Kolo Mee. Paid at counter and need to wait for more than 30 mins. The food is great and authentic. One of my favourite place for Kolo mee when I visits Kuching.
Brandon W — Google review
Came about an hour before closing, the noodles had sold out, so I try the kuey teow version, surprisingly tasty! The fragrant pork lard added great flavor, and the red sauce had a subtle sweetness to it.
Angela W — Google review
First of all, i think is the owner's son? The one that take orders, he such a nice guy. The kolo mee on the other hand, definitely one of the best, is in my top Top 3. Will put it 2nd place! I recommend order the big size, the cha sau is not the bbq type but is the thick type. The red kolo taste slight sweet cause of the cha sau sauce, and the Q mee damn springy. Might have to wait awhile cause their business is very very good. It is worth the wait for such legends kopitiam!
Odell A — Google review
This Kolo Mee is simply perfect. Perfect texture and the flavour is spot on. A must-try!
KIL — Google review
This was recommended to us over another famous stall in Sarawak. Got a shock when we arrived, whole place is full and bustling even though we were relatively early. Staffs were very friendly especially leng zai at the counter, waiting time can take quite long due to their popularity. Ordered the red option, tastes sweet and savoury with a strong hint of lard, the good Hallmark of every good kolomee. Ingredients and portion are considered generous too, but come early, was sold out at around 11am+ while we were there

Nestled on top of a hill surrounded by lush trees, The Tree Top offers a secluded and tropical dining experience in Kuching. Despite its name, the restaurant is not actually perched on a tree but provides a warm and homely atmosphere with a beautiful balcony overlooking nature. While some find the food to be average and in need of extra seasoning, others appreciate the reasonably priced menu featuring dishes like pork spaghetti and wraps.
Nice place to chill with loved ones, and have a dinner. Cool atmosphere, Love the shikiliki drink, so refreshing together with delicious food 😋 their Crispy chicken is my love. Will plan to revisit this place

This restaurant is nestled on a hillside, offering a stunning outdoor dining experience at night that feels like dining among the treetops. The rustic charm of the decor, paired with excellent maintenance, creates a 5-star atmosphere that’s perfect for a relaxing evening. However, the food doesn’t quite match the ambiance—it’s decent but nothing extraordinary. The chicken skewers stood out, being tender and juicy, but the kedondong juice was just average. The setting would be perfect for Asian cuisine, especially Chinese or Japanese dishes, which would complement the environment beautifully. A great spot for the vibe, though the menu could use some refinement.

Quite cozy but hidden place. Authentic in its own way. The pasta was quite delicious. The grilled lamb shoulder portion was very big and worth it. The grilled pork is just perfect with the sauce. Overall, the price is reasonable. Fully recommended. I gave it 4 stars because of the location.

It’s a nice place to hangout with your loved one. But be prepare to have patience when waiting for your food. Price of the food is bit too high. The place could do some cleaning as it’s quite hazardous with lots of Moses and algae overgrown in the way up.

The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor surrounded by lots of trees. It was a very good experience to eat very much alike inside the forest. The food is also great !

Food is ok, slightly higher on the price side due to the atmosphere. Do make reservations as seatings are limited.

The environment is pleasant, the food is acceptable, but the French fries were served cold.
Bryan — Google review
The atmosphere/the place is extremely aesthetic; suitable for taking pictures and dating for couples. However the food is a bit disappointing, the spaghetti is cut cut one, the garlic in the spaghetti is a quarter clove of a garlic. The french fries is very salty. The chicken, well-marinated. The smoke duck, it's alright. I have to wait for the food for almost 40 minutes! The beverages has a very unique name and unique design. It's pretty and it's quite refreshing. Service is okay. Moreover, as a customer, I expect a better version next time. 6.6/10

Zero O'Clock Cafe is a charming spot to enjoy breakfast or brunch with a diverse menu at reasonable prices. The cafe offers both indoor and outdoor seating in a cozy environment. Visitors highly recommend the tasty waffles and affordable, delicious menu items like sandwiches and light cheddar cake. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is peaceful, making it an ideal place for a relaxing meal with friends.
The place is nice. It's above the Thai food place. The food is good, well prepared. Got some free water given for customers near the cashier. Now let's talk about the food - is more towards the pricier range. However, the taste helps it. Matcha latte - RM 16. 50, pricey but the portion is good (got too many nightmares of nearly RM 20 matcha for just a small cup). The taste, above average, still refreshing. I give it - 3.7/5. Ice lemon tea - RM 9, quite big cup, pricey too but my brother are quite satisfied, so it's good. 4/5 Fish and chips - RM 21, a little bit small portion, but the taste seems ok. My little brother enjoy it. He recommended it. 3.8/5 Aglio olio - RM 18. It's ok, i wish it's a bit spicier. The chicken is nice. 4/5 Cheesy ramyeon - RM 14.50. Pricey might be the most disappointed one among the other dishes. It's ok, just not what i expected. 2/5 Chicken sandwich - RM 18. Good potion. Recommended. 4.5/5 The place is comfy, really good toilets. I will say, I recommended this place. Will repeat, and try other stuff. It's halal too (already check jakim website).

Visited Zero O’clock Café recently and completely fell in love with the atmosphere. The space feels calm and welcoming — minimalist decor, soft music, and a really cozy vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. Tried their signature drinks, main course, snack and a few desserts — everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing! 🍰💛 It’s one of those cafés where you can unwind, get some work done, or just chat with friends over a good cup of coffee. Staff were super friendly and attentive too — really added to the overall experience.

Only here for the laksa, which has a unique taste to the broth, different from all the others. RM18 for the special which comes with sizeable juicy prawns

The shop used to be bigger: relegated to the corner shop after the pandemic. Laksa is good here - spicier than other renditions and price may be a bit steeper. Anyway the beef noodles here are good old Kuching style and tasty too. Coffee and tea is alright.

their laksa is one of the famous one in kuching, taste consider ok nice but just ok ok only for me, a bit pricy small portion can't even make your tummy happy

Came here for breakfast and found a variety of Kuching breakfast items. Had the fried fritter to go with my tea. And the Heng Hwa Noodle which is interesting and delicious. The most interesting ingredient is the handmade fish meat or what the stall holder called fish ball. Made of mackerel and well marinated. Definitely a good ingredient to the whole bowl.

Laksa was Rm18 for special! It is still great, with a decent prawn aroma (though not as good as before) but very overpriced - not necessarily affordable for locals. Other traditional kuehs were ok. Gong Pia (not pictured) barely had any filling - it was just enough

Ken Salad Chicken Rice is a popular dish served in Malaysia, particularly at a long-standing shop. The meal includes heirloom tomatoes, seasonal fruit, and kale salad with a local vinaigrette dressing made from soy sauce, kulim, and black garlic oil. Customers can also enjoy fried chicken skin and tofu as accompaniments. Those who opt for the Special Salad Chicken Rice are treated to an extra portion of crunchy and flavorful fried chicken that pairs perfectly with the rice.
A very good taste of chicken rice.. taste like the old times. Original taste. Will come again soon. The price is acceptable. Peak hours maybe busy and hard to find table. Have to wait if during peak time which is 11.45 - 1.00pm. Parking also limited. Overall conclusion, the food is nice. Sarawakian taste
Uchiha G — Google review
Accidentally stumbled upon this shop while looking for a place to eat. Was surprised at how big the chicken is for RM12.50 as they serve you the whole chicken quarter (thigh only) to you. That alone is tough to beat in terms of hawker shop pricing. Photos are showing the special (quarter thigh portion) and normal (either drumstick or thigh part alone). The chicken skin is very crispy while the meat still retains its juiciness. The rice itself leans more towards lemongrass/serai flavor- some may not favour it as theres people out there who prefers it to be more umami/oily chicken flavour. But nonetheless it complements well for my liking. We came at 1130am and the crowd was not there yet. The shoplot area can be very crowded so parking is actually very hard to come by. Managed to get 1 slot right infront of the shop during my visit there. Will definitely come back again as it's worth every penny you pay for and I'll let the photo do the talking instead.

Scrumptious Salad Chicken Rice and it's their signature dish here. There are lots of other choices including chicken, fish and pork. They have a stall of Kolo Mee too and the prices are affordable. The seats are limited and always crowded.

Joo Seng Cafe is a popular spot in Kuching, strategically located near a busy traffic intersection. It offers a wide range of dishes, from simple toasts to Sarawak delicacies like Sarawak Laksa and the famous Kolo Mee. The Kolo Mee is known for its mouth-watering lard and can be customized with additional side dishes like wantons.
Lurve the kaya butter toast. Their signature I'd say and it's very very nice. Would come here again for more ><

Come here during Ramadan/Puasa so not crowded and good time to visit. Will try other dish next time. I ordered the most basic fried noodle, Kolo Mee Goreng Kosong. However the cashier keep insisting to add telur goreng although i say no a lot of times for the sake of sales. The noodle arrived not yet cooked, chewy, oily and not appetizing at all. 1 ⭐ for Kolo Mee Goreng Kosong.
Solomon B — Google review
Their coffee and butter toast is to my liking. Glad they are generous with the butter unlike some places. The Mee Jawa is value for money but could be less sweet and hotter.
Laurence K — Google review
Joo Seng is a decent coffee shop for a simple local breakfast and lunch. Their teh-c peng is quite good — smooth and not overly sweet, which is just right. The toasted bread stands out, with a generous full slice of butter that melts perfectly into the crisp toast. The mee jawa is also quite tasty with a flavourful gravy, though the experience could be improved as the attitude of the stall’s lady boss and staff leaves room for improvement. Still, it’s a decent place for a quick bite if you’re in the area.
Joseph K — Google review
The service is great,we have to order at the counter which is in my opinion easier. Their signature food is definitely toast bread and teh C peng. Their Teh C Peng is not the 3 layer type(unless you order that) but is more like a teh tarik kind. It is nice, you can taste the balances of both teh and milk. I ordered the tomato mee/kueh tiaw. Surprisingly the mee is the straight type( I assume can request Q mee) which is nice. The sauce is kinda sweet, it doesn't wow me much but taste was decent. Some people went for the malay food which i haven't tried yet, i heard it was also famous. Will sure dine here again!
Odell A — Google review
The roti bakar is absolutely delicious—crispy with rich kaya and butter. The pan mee soup was too salty, and the mee jawa was a bit too sweet. The fried chicken rice was decent and still acceptable.
Valyn K — Google review
I had a disappointing experience this morning at Joo Seng Cafe, which I feel compelled to share. I went there for breakfast with friends, and unfortunately, the meal was far from enjoyable. 1. The fried noodles, kuey teow, and yellow noodles were unacceptably oily, making them completely unappetizing. It was hard to enjoy the meal when everything was drenched in so much oil. 2. The presentation was bizarre. I ordered the fried noodles, and logically, a spoon and fork should have been served with the dish. Instead, they were placed deep inside a small bowl of clear water. At first, I assumed it was hot water for hygienic purposes, but when we asked the staff, we were shocked to find out it was actually soup! This was an unprecedented and strange way of serving utensils, and while I wasn’t expecting fine dining, it just felt odd and unprofessional. (Forgot to take photo but you guys can try and see) 3. The pan mee soup was incredibly salty, which completely spoiled my mood. Overall, I can only describe this meal as a "cholesterol meal set" to start the day, and I sincerely hope the management takes these points into consideration for improvement. This was definitely not the standard I was expecting from such a popular kopitiam. However, to be fair, the roti kahwin and teh tarik were worth a try and quite nice. They were the only redeeming qualities of my visit.
Brian — Google review
Superrrbbb coffee. Best coffee we've had after trying a couple of famous coffee shops. Teh tarik was nice too. We also loved the toast the most, out of the other coffee shops we've visited. The wanton soup was a miss - will skip this because it was extremely salty. Overall, will recommend this breakfast spot for its toast and drinks :)

The portions are generous and reasonably priced, making it a great choice for those with hearty appetites. However, the seating may not be ideal for older individuals due to shaky stools.

Incredible claypot lamb soup in Kuching! Super interesting flavours they have in their menu. I tried one curry lamb version. Inside got 3-4 pieces of big lamb meat with bones, which is the perfect lamb part to enjoy with curry. The bone really brings up the flavour to another level. Thick and creamy. Yet not too spicy, good to enjoy with rice. The another flavour is the milky kind, which I believe is the original lamb soup with Sarawak white pepper.

Guests can enjoy a range of amenities including an outdoor pool, fitness center, sauna, and a private beach area.
We loved staying at the Culvert! Rooms are exactly as shown in the pics, with space under the bed to store your bags. The interior is much more modern than I expected, there is a smart TV, and the AC works well. Bed also very comfy. The surrounding area was lovely, and we relaxed at both pools, the sauna and went down to the beach to watch the sunset. It was such a lovely stay for 1 night. Thank you!

Great location for a weekend getaway. 1. Good room, a bit stuffy at first, but once you settled in, it's quite comfy inside a culvert. 2. Service was a bit lacking. There're some facilities for guests to use, but it would seemed staffs are not too eager to assist in. Staff are actually quite friendly, just some part bit lacking. Experience: - Our room door & bed may need some maintenance, squeaky bed if moved too much & door that's a bit jam (Easy for me to open, but hard for my wife to open) - There's a giant swing for guest to take for a ride & take pic, however the front desk on the morning wasn't really helpful, had to even ask the housecleaning crew to look for someone, in the end, the front desk did manage to send 1 of her colleagues to assist us, but could improve more on her hospitality. Suggestion: - Turn on aircond if have guest coming in soon, especially during a hot weather. Room was an oven when we put out things in, had to wait for the room to cool down before going in for a short rest. Overall: - A good stay and a good experiences. If improve better hospitality & facilities, wouldn't mine to come visit again in future.

Something quite different and a pleasant surprise, culverts expectedly tight on space but comfortable and did the job, we actually stayed 6 nights and no ncompliants. Staff friendly and helpful, when busy buffet breakfast and when quiet a set menu but equally as nice with good variety. Pools both good to chill and you can grab a beer and drink it in either...be aware of getting to the beach, I estimate about 100 steps, beach quiet and private, water clean but there are jellyfish. To mix it up we pre booked a grab to Damai just north and ate/ drank at the Esco beach bar - lovely and quiet

Cute little capsule-like rooms. There is are private bathrooms in the rooms itself but because the size of the capsules are small, you'll need to crawl across the bed to reach it. Unless you upgrade to a premium suite, then the space is extended and the bathroom is outside the room (comes with a bathtub) and the bed is king-sized. Staff are helpful and friendly, great place to unwind from city life. Would be visiting again, gladly.

Best place for vacation! 🥹 I’m a local who loves exploring new places and I’m finally here! It’s been a dream of mine to visit here. Room was okay, just have to crawl to the bathroom 😂 but no problem! Service here super amazing and attentive but please pay attention to customer’s orders during dinner 😓 we have to wait 30-40 minutes for just noodles but breakfast was amazing! For the dryer service, please do small maintenance to it as we put our clothes in wet for an hour but it’s still wet 😭 Overall, amazing place! ❤️
Michelle K — Google review
A cool concept for the resort, however the rooms could use some better upkeep. Toilets are partitioned behind the bed headrest with just a curtain as separation. Be warned there are so many mosquitoes that those swatted have left their black marks all over the curtains. If you're not from Kuching, I'd recommend arranging transport in advance to and fro from the resort. Staff however were very accommodating with catering to our dietery needs and cooking local dishes off the menu :)

Stayed at Culvert Kuching recently and overall had a really good experience. Pros: • The bed (tilam) was super soft and comfortable — had one of the best sleeps ever. • Surrounded by nature, calm and peaceful. Definitely a place I’d love to return to for some quiet time. • The restaurant food was delicious, although slightly on the pricey side. Cons: • Do bring mosquito repellent — being close to nature means you’ll need it. • The room I stayed in (Seaview Queen) was quite small. After swimming, you’d have to pass the bed to get to the bathroom, so if you’re still wet, it’s easier to shower at the unisex toilet outside instead of risking wetting the bed. • If you’re bringing food, be cautious — the monkeys are always on the lookout! Overall, Culvert Kuching is unique and relaxing, perfect if you love nature and don’t mind some quirks.

My wife and I are staying in Kuching for seven days. We discovered this place on the sixth day. We felt bad for not knowing this place earlier. Anyway, talk about choices of great Malay dishes. Their fish head curry, spicy skate wings sour soup and yes a dipped sauce, sambal belacan for varieties of vegetables just to name a few. Nice atmosphere, clean place and very reasonable priced. We loved it!

Warong Nusantara is a fantastic food center for anyone craving local and Indonesian-style dishes. The menu is extensive, offering everything from roti canai to flavorful beef noodles—both of which I highly recommend! If you’re a fan of mixed rice dishes, you’ll find plenty of variety here as well, making it a perfect spot to try different flavors in one meal. Despite being busy, especially during peak hours, the service is impressively fast. The staff does a great job of keeping everything moving smoothly, so you’re never left waiting long for your food. One of the best parts about Warong Nusantara is the outdoor seating area. It’s spacious and has a nice, airy environment, making it a comfortable spot to sit back and enjoy a meal, even with the crowd. All in all, it’s a solid choice for tasty food with efficient service!

I've already drunk half of the drink. I just realized it. But then I decided to finish it. This kedai once got warning, closed cafe for 2 weeks. Hopefully can improve and dont repeat.

For a dish that costs RM 11, I expected it to be worth it. It has no vegetables, no decorative ingredients and overall just bland. I'm honestly disappointed and dissatisfied, and it looks so unappetizing and unappealing.

Duduksama Kopitiam is a popular spot offering a diverse range of meals suitable for all, including Muslim-friendly options. It's particularly known for its breakfast menu. The restaurant serves various dishes such as chicken curry, mee kolok, roti bakar, laksa sarawak and nasi lemak along with an array of hot and cold drinks. The ambiance is clean and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal.
To be honest, I will nickname this place as the modern place of Joo Seng number 2. The crowd is amazing, with the harmonious environments having all types of races having breakfast together at 1 place. The food is amazing as well as for the presentation of it. Various to choose from, and I am honestly speaking, I would like to try every dish from time to time. The service is very friendly, fast, and felt welcoming. I hope they will maintain their service standards and food taste as well.

Breakfast at Duduksama, Kuching 🤍 Service tiptop, food was sooo good — especially the Laksa Serawak! We loved it so much we even packed 6 to bring home 😋✨ You should also try their Teh C Special Mables and nasi lemak — both are a must! Definitely a place to come again next trip 😍 - sincerely from Penang.

i love their lava curry toast. Kaya toast taste good but a little bit to sweet for me. Nasi lemak chicken curry quite ok but kolo mee taste like Instant noodle the one in the kopi tiam taste much better. Coffee taste so so. Friendly staff. Fast services. Cashless. Near KPJ hospital

The last time I came here was a year ago because I didn’t really enjoy the food (just personal preference) and found it quite expensive for something so common. But last week, I decided to give it another shot. I ordered the Mee Siam Chicken, while my friend had the Mee Siam Curry. The dish was a bit dry, so I asked for two portions of curry kuah since there was no option to add it as a side — I assumed it would be free. But the waiter only gave me one… and to my shock, it was just a tiny cup of kuah (like the kind you use for sambal or chili sauce). Omg! When I asked for another one, the waiter said the kitchen refused. LMAO — so stingy! It’s just kuah, bro, not like I asked for a full meal. My friend even said they used to serve it in a proper mangkuk… but now? Just this? Lol. And not to forget — the kopi O was super expensive. I got the kopi peng version, but it was sooo bland and a total fail. The ice melted really fast too… maybe it’s the weather’s fault la, ho?

This is the second time I got kolo mee merah that looks pale and unappetizing. For a well-known place, please maintain the quality — people come here with expectations.

Cove 55 is a stylish seafront hotel located just a 10-minute drive from Damai Beach and approximately 40 kilometers from Kuching. Originally an Iban family's holiday home, it has been transformed into one of the finest boutique hotels in Kuching, offering only 13 rooms, 2 suites, and 1 villa. The hotel has received international recognition for its elegant design and warm Sarawakian hospitality.
Family of 5 stay in early August for 3 nights. This place is exactly as advertised - a quiet peaceful luxury retreat. We got the 2 bed ocean villa and loved using our own pool. Staff here are all lovely - so friendly and warm. Food in kechala is awesome - the breakfast laksa is particularly good and it is great to see local Iban dishes on the dinner menu (try the jungle fern). We booked the wetlands river cruise for the middle night and this was maybe the highlight of our two week holiday - the guide was clearly an expert and even got us to within 10 feet of a large crocodile! This is the perfect place to get you closer to nature whilst still staying in luxury. Definitely recommend it.

I cannot remember the names of a particular member of the team, but that's because EVERYONE was so consistent with the level of care, hospitality and attentiveness. The 2 at the front desk assisting with our check-in, check out and questions in between were extremely helpful - advised on how to go about an early check out and made sure that our meals were all settled prior to departure. The team at the restaurant came sweeping in with toddler friendly tableware and food placements, and gave us a really pleasant time during meals. The concierge team who showed up bright and early to help us with our bags, also giving us space and time to huddle everyone out of the room before they escorted us to our morning ride. Thank you Cove55 team! Keep up the good work and effort.

Where to start with Cove55, from the moment I booked our small break over there I knew we were in safe hands, talking to them over emails was easy and informative. We booked a package and we were picked up on time from the driving team who were so lovely from the airport and looked after straight away. The rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated in a traditional style we adored and were well equipped with all that you needed to make your stay comfortable. I loved the beach bags especially and the history. The setting of the complex was idyllic and so tranquil, it felt like we were in paradise and the peace that comes with that. We loved looking up at the mountain every day and looking out to the sea every single day and surrounding fauna and flora. The pool area was just calming and I loved having a dip whilst listening to the sea lapping up on the shoreline. The complex was kept pristine and clean. The food was absolutely delicious, we as vegans find it difficult to find places to eat but they have such a vast plant based menu we never went hungry and the waiters and waitresses were just lovely and welcoming and quickly knew who you were, so everything felt so personable. All of our tours were planned to precision timing and we were so well looked after. I want to say a huge thank you to the whole of the Cove55 team for making us feel so welcome and cared for, I really didn’t want to leave. Can I stay permanently?! Sharmin & Simon.

Cove 55 was the perfect way to end our time in Kuching. The moment we arrived, it felt exclusive and peaceful—like a hidden retreat away from the city. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. The infinity pool was stunning, with breathtaking views that made it hard to leave. Breakfast was just as impressive—delicious, beautifully presented, and served in such a relaxing setting. Everything about Cove 55 felt thoughtful and personal. It’s not just a hotel—it’s an experience. Can’t wait to return.

My stay at Cove 55 was absolutely exceptional — a perfect blend of comfort, style, and tranquility. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the serene atmosphere and the warm hospitality that set the tone for the entire experience. Nestled by the water, Cove 55 offers a peaceful escape surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. The setting is stunning — lush greenery, gentle sea breeze, and beautiful views that make every moment feel calm and rejuvenating. The architecture and interior design strike a lovely balance between modern elegance and tropical charm, creating a space that feels both luxurious and relaxed. The room I stayed in was spotless and thoughtfully designed. The décor was simple yet sophisticated, with soft tones, natural textures, and all the little touches that make a stay feel special. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and waking up to the sound of nature and a view of the sea felt absolutely magical. The staff at Cove 55 truly made the experience memorable. They were attentive, kind, and genuinely cared about ensuring every guest felt welcome and looked after. Every interaction felt sincere — from the warm greetings to the personalized recommendations about what to do around the area. Breakfast was another highlight. It was fresh, beautifully presented, and served in a calm open space overlooking the water. Enjoying a cup of coffee there in the morning felt like the perfect start to the day. Overall, Cove 55 is a hidden sanctuary that perfectly captures the essence of relaxation. It’s intimate yet refined, and every detail — from the service to the surroundings — is thoughtfully curated. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a peaceful retreat, or just some time away to recharge, Cove 55 is an experience you won’t forget. I can’t wait to return. 🌅💛

We are so embarrassed yet grateful to Azrin, the Duty Manager for being such a hero for our trip. If you are planning to travel around here, please drive. We learnt it the hard way and Azrin went the extra mile to send us for our river cruise, and even picked us up when we didn’t request for it 🥹 He also offered to pick us up after our seafood dinner as it was unsafe to walk back. Super grateful and thank you to Azrin - true hospitality at heart. We booked the Family Villa which was lovely but there are signs of wear and tear. The infinity pool was the highlight and you gotta spend the sunset there. When we woke up late for breakfast, they offered to delivered to our room. I am super grateful and will be back!

From what I experience from this restaurant, it's decent, the food is really good. Taste delicious. Drinks are also ok, plus many varieties to choose from. However, 4 stars only cause the one problem which is very obvious is the service when customers come in. Some of the waiters and waitresses really take a long time to take our order and at times don't really be alert with customers. That can be improved. The place is clean btw.

Very friendly service by employees here. Good SOP. Tables are cleaned each time customers leave, spray spray~ 👍👏 I had my first Nasi Aruk here. As it's my first taste, I can't judge well for you but from my first experience, I sort of like the rice. After googling I came to know that the rice is actually the main part of the food, not the salted fish 😅 because of this, I felt I had to eat another round to actually feel like I had eaten. 🤭

Restaurant
Go Fun Kee Bak Kut Teh (Ban Hock) is a well-known local Chinese restaurant chain with several branches in Kuching. The branch has a beautiful and vintage design, offering ground floor and 1st-floor seating. It serves signature dishes like Bak Kut Teh, curry fish head, clay pot dishes, and vegetable/cold dishes. Additionally, it offers a special menu featuring Braised Pork Belly with Fried Bee Hon for 3-5 people.
Preferably this type of Bak Kut Teh as you can choose the items that you want to be in, be it the just the intestine/ stomach/ meat & etc. The taste is really delicious, presentation wise can be accepted and serving portions is adequate. Service is good and the staff is friendly.

Ordered the Bak Kut Teh soup set. Comes in claypot with rice and a few side dishes. Quite a big portion for 1 person meal. The soup is very tasty with lot of meat. The claypot was quite shallow, hence not much soup. I asked if i can get additional soup and was given without any hassle. Overall, a good place for a meal.

Came here and ordered the 双色凉粉,tasted very nice. Would definitely recommend it. Tried the stir fry cabbage also, probably won't order again next time. Would like to try out the bak kut teh next time when the 油炸鬼 is available, looks appetizing with plenty of meat.

This is a famous local Chinese Bak Kut Teh chain with many branches in Kuching. I think the design of this branch is the most beautiful and vintage among them. There are ground floor & 1st floor seats, the ground floor seats are quite limited, and mostly full. Apart from the signature the Bak Kut Teh, curry fish head, clay pot dishes, and vegetable / cold dish, they offer a special menu in this branch which is Braised Pork Belly with Fried Bee Hon that portions for 3-5pax. The place is clean, service is nice as well. Food quality and the price are in line with the other branch.

Garden Cafe by bing! Coffe is a charming spot that offers a variety of delicious dishes and delightful treats. The beef lasagna and panini are popular choices, along with the ice blended tiramisu drink, brownies, and exceptional chocolate nut cookies. While the oreo cheesecake was slightly disappointing due to its texture, the nachos were a pleasant surprise. The tiramisu is highly recommended for its rich flavor.
It is a great cafe for a light lunch or to get some drinks. This is a hidden spot for a date or drinks with friends. The vibe is exceptionally good with greenery, music and good food. You can choose where you want to sit either in the indoor space or outdoors (i recommend outdoor if you got the chance), but you need to order the food at the counter. Both spaces are equipped with AC. Their cake and lasagna is highly recommended. but, the coffee and chocolate drinks they got are just okay, and the selection is plenty. The cafe has a walking space at the back with orchid farms and shops where you can buy the tree shop next door. On a busy day, you might have a bit of difficulty getting a car parking as it is limited (it is free parking).

Garden Bing Coffee offers a cozy atmosphere, surrounded in nature plants, excellent coffee, and friendly service. It’s a great spot to relax, catch up with friends, or get some work done. Their pastries, salads and light meals complement the drinks perfectly. Highly recommended for coffee lovers and travellers. Is such a nice place to take photos when gathering with your beloved friends and family or honeybee. But the parking spot is quite small, you may take the grab together with your friends or just drive one car together to avoid plan spoil when going there without parking space.

We dropped by Garden Cafe for an early dinner because my brother's kids were hungry. It was one of the better decisions we've ever made. The place was so cool. It blended greenery with cosiness and, most importantly, great food. We practically ordered almost everything on the menu. We even ordered the Beef Lasagna twice! The cakes were not sweet, superbly dense and still very moist. Superb ambience. You will fall in love with this place even if you don't like greens. The entire vibe invokes calmness and peacefulness. The place is huge. Kids can run about and have fun and be kids. And my brother's kids ate so much as well. It is a pleasant suprise. One of the hidden gems of Kuching. I'm giving it a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

A café with a green house at the back. But seatings rather limited especially during peak hours like Friday afternoon or weekends. Can’t reserve in advance even if you plan to come with a big group. Drinks so so. The matcha latte was not strong, not flavourful and not aromatic enough. Mainly tasted milk. Nachos were standard. The panini and bambini bread were standard. Nothing standard or fancy. But the grilled chicken filling was horrible. Too hard too dry and lack of flavour. Parking was also limited especially if during peak hours. Overall, not a very fancy cafe. Food was subpar for the price. 18 MYR for a panini sandwich. There are other many nicer cafes with quality food and drinks in kuching.
Ky Y — Google review
The ambiance and concept were quite pleasing. I ordered the chicken pot pie and Oreo cheesecake. I understand the chicken pot pie is pre-cooked, but while the crust was crispy and flaky, the filling was cold. Perhaps preheating or cooking it longer in the oven would help.

Song Corner is a popular spot for delicious breakfast options, including the lesser-known kampua mee. This eatery offers a variety of mouth-watering dishes such as mackerel fish noodle and American breakfast sets. The kampua mee here stands out with its use of shallot oil and soya sauce, giving it a saltier flavor compared to its counterpart, kolo mee.
Decent laksa and kampua noodles. Yu char kueh also not bad. Can get quite busy during breakfast time. Drinks a bit diluted but it's par for the course.

Song Corner is a food court with plenty of good choices to start the day. Among the highlights is Ah Gan Kampua, well known for serving some of the best Foochow food around. Their kampua noodle is tasty and the pork liver soup is especially enjoyable, with the liver cooked just right and not overdone. Another stall worth mentioning is Sharon Handmade Noodle. We had the chicken mushroom and chicken chop noodles, both of which were delicious and comforting. For something hearty, The Breakfast Factory serves a giant breakfast set that is filling and very tasty.

120230618 My first visit here. Its quite a small lot, luckily its a middle corner lot. When i was there, its about 11am and the place is already pack. wifey go for the mackerel fish noodle 1st and to our surprise , it is really good. The fish paste is fresh and not much starch added. for the pride RM12 per bowl, i would say it value for money. I order a kampua over my favourite kolo mee as i saw more kampua on the table of the patrons than kolo mee, so i trust the crowd and i am so right, it is good. The noodle is seasoned perfectly, and the portion is just nice. Love it. so good that we order another set to go. The kolo mee , i ordered as well, not the best but acceptable. As for the laksa, also so so. Its not easy to find a good laksa in Kuching nowadays.

Nestled in the heart of Kuching, Mei Mei Food Court is a delightful culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This vibrant spot offers a variety of local favorites, with standout dishes like their renowned clay pot noodles and Sarawak Laksa. The clay pot noodles are generously portioned and expertly crafted, featuring tender pork organs that are surprisingly flavorful.
I recently tried the Sarawak Laksa at Mei Mei after a recommendation, and it was surprisingly good! We ordered the small portion for RM9, and it was the perfect size—neither too little nor too much. Interestingly, they use evaporated milk instead of the conventional coconut milk, which added a unique twist to the dish. It retained the fragrant smell, although the coconut fragrance was notably absent. A must-try tip: make sure to squeeze the lime over your laksa – it really enhances the flavor and adds a refreshing zest. The combination of spices and fresh ingredients made for a memorable meal. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious Sarawak Laksa!

A random stumble and a good experience with this wanton soup snack. Meaty and aesthetically wrapped. The crinkled edge! And seaweed for garnish. A simple snack yet presented and prepared well. A tad oily for me however. Sometimes locals need foreign competition to up their hawker food game. -1 for coffee shop for female waiting staff. Surly looking face. Cats can't smile but they are pleasant to see eye to eye with. 😼

The local coffee here also my favorite.

The renowned clay pot noodles beckoned me, but during my initial visit at 10 am, the place was fully occupied. The wait was worthwhile on my return, as the clay pot noodles turned out to be the best in town—generous portions and skillfully prepared pork organs without any unpleasant taste. Another standout was the laksa, it was great as well. The service was good too, with attentive staff promptly catering to us upon arrival. However, the drinks left something to be desired; they were a bit lacking in flavor, presenting a somewhat bland taste.

The Coffee Garden in Kuching offers a serene and calming atmosphere with its garden-like furniture, fresh flowers, and lush hanging gardens. The cafe provides a peaceful retreat for patrons to enjoy light bites such as sandwiches and pancakes or heartier options like burgers and nasi lemak. Despite some feedback on portion sizes and saltiness of certain dishes, the cafe is praised for its cozy ambiance, friendly staff, and beautiful decor with a nature-inspired vibe.
Really good decoration on flowers and forestry touch. Had the chance to breakfast here; 1. Caramel macchiato, really awesome taste and flavour. 2. Burnt Cheese Cake, homemade cake and very very delicious. The waiter here even said that seen me from somewhere, haha..

It was our 1st visit to Kuching & we didn't have any expectations when we chanced upon this café which was not far from the Hilton. We were just looking for good breakfast with coffee. Although there was nothing really outstanding, the café's setup was intimate & cosy, decorated with lots of plants & wall memorabilia. It has another small seating area upstairs. There were 2 other couples besides us. Only when a mother & daughter who ordered bf us cancelled theirs did we realise that our order actually took a fairly long time to be served. Our food was served close to 30mins later followed by another 10 mins for our drinks. Nevertheless they came piping hot & tasted real good. The portions were good too. I would recommend this café for their food & ambience. It could probably improve on the time management though.

Nice atmosphere and deco. The staffs are friendly, the place is cozy and comfortable. I ordered a waffle breakfast set that comes with black coffee or tea at RM16, it was overall okay, just the waffles and scramble eggs are a bit too salty to my taste. The food combination is great, though it would be perfect if it's less salty.

My dad and I had the Pancake Deluxe (RM17) and French Breakfast set (RM16) this morning. The price for two of us is not bad, almost around the same range if we were to choose MCD next door. Fullfilling and yum but my maple syrup was very little, had to ask for refill for my thick 3 pcs pancake. The cafe is decorated beautifully with plants and has that nature vibe. A little small in the inside. You can sit outside too but its hot and too close to the road so.

Best place around for coffee and a bite. It's a cosy café to work or just relax. Often went here to have late breakfast. Espresso is very nice. Only the cakes are bad, sadly. People are very friendly.
Jurjen — Google review
Cool ambiance: garden like cafe. Comfy for catching up with buddy or having sip of coffee. Price is above average. Limited choice of snacks and drinks. Nevertheless, tasted average. Overall would say just so so...

Sukha Cafe is a charming spot that offers a fusion of local and western cuisine, featuring dishes like the savory Spaghetti Rendang and the traditional Sarawakian Ayam Pansuh. The cafe's rustic decor includes unique elements such as tables made from sewing machines and bicycle wheels hanging from the ceiling. The cozy ambiance makes it a great place to enjoy their standard hot and cold coffee, which pairs perfectly with their delicious desserts.
I love love.love the beef salad with sesame oil dressing. Korean fried chicken sooo yummy! Mushroom carbonara pasta? Licking finger man.. Churros..when dipped with choc sauce...ohh just mouthwatering.. U might order it twice i bet😜. So tasty all the food in Sukha Cafe. 5🌟

Nice place to catch up, grab some food and drinks. Food are well prepared with good flavours. Try out some of their whacky menu for different experience. Although certain ingredients can be repetitive so make sure u try something different if ordering lots. Try the waffle chicken. Overall nice place, quiet and cosy. Good for children and group. Price are moderate.

I've been here a few times now. Previously had the fried chicken and waffles and some coffee. Fried chicken waffles was good. Ambiance is nice here but it's quite pricey. This time round, I ordered the Ayam Pansuh (Bamboo Chicken). I think it's just an average. Nothing you would go crazy about. It wasn't a Dayak restaurant so I didn't expect it to be exceptional either. This place is definitely very pricey overall. Food and drinks. Service isn't amazing for what you pay for either. I can think of other places with better service in Kuching.

Salted egg fried chix ✌✌✌✌ but for nasi lemak with rempah ayam ✌✌, the rempah chix is dry and burnt. Im not sure why the Teh c peng rm7?? But i didnt order the teh c peng. The waffle is soggy and taste floury.

The cafe is cozy but with very limited electrical plug to do work. Have free wifi. Tried the mac and cheese and the portion is very generous. Tasty, but too much for me. Still, it was tasty. Hehe. The iced chocolate peppermint is tasty too. The price of food and drink is rather high but maybe thats just me as i am just a kampung boy. 😂

This restaurant always have something new in their menu list, which is a good thing. The concept of the food they served were mostly a mix of western dishes with local ingredients. Have you ever heard about their Sambal Nasi Lemak Burger? They have it on their menu list.. For those who love spicy flavour on their taste bud, this should be on your list. UPDATE : 24 August 2019 I still can say the food was fantastic. This time I had ordered Ayam Pansuh and Ayam Bento (fusion meal). They still retain their fusion dish concept which is good. Another thing, they serve one of the best nasi lemak ayam butter as well.
Bob D — Google review
Love the decor The food is fairly nice, ordered the buttermilk fried chicken burger. The added thyme is a tad unnecessary IMO, it just becomes twiggy after being fried. I do however like the fact that the burger bun is well made, and generous amount of butter lettuce. And the kedondong juice would be better without the fibrous pulp being 50% of the drink itself. Otherwise, would still come back for sure :D

Ah Kheng Belacan Bihun is a delightful culinary gem that showcases the unique flavors of Sarawak. This dish features rice vermicelli generously coated in a rich belacan gravy, which is made from shrimp paste and offers a distinct nutty taste. Typically accompanied by fresh ingredients like beansprouts, cucumber slices, century eggs, and tender squid, it presents an intriguing blend of sweet and savory notes that may surprise first-time tasters.
im sorry this is the best dish for me in my entire life. My number ONE dish. The sauce is AMAZING and different (something like love durian taste like that). The noodle bihun really goes together with the belacan sauce and the chillies and the salty of the centaury egg. For me words cannot describe, only can go can try the equisetic taste. If im in Kuching again, i will always come back here again.

You can get many fried foods here! I like the shrimps cracker and Sotong Kang Kung. The shrimps cracker is crispy at the outside and soft at the inside. The rojak sauces of Sotong Kang Kung taste good and the Sotong is very soft and easy to chew! The fried potatoes tastes exactly the same during my primary school. You can order their drinks too. The read bean soup tastes okay too.

Manage to get ABCs at early evening 😄 with sotong kangkung, deep fried tofu, crispy shrimp & vege fritters.. 😋👍👍
Philemon Y — Google review
Fried stuff, ie prawns crackers, tofu etc. Reasonable price. Didn't try the others. Order ABC from next stall. Lady boss is nice and reminded customer to check in.

It is a new taste experience for a visitor like myself. Wonder how would a dried version taste like if there is one? The gravy has the distinct belacan taste. It should be mild enough for most. Of the two versions available, preferred the one with century eggs. The century eggs offset the taste and aroma of the belacan gravy. I am used to having firm cuttle fish slices. The version served here is soft. We like the fried fishball and fries. The fries were nicely done and crispy. It is definitely worth a try, at least for the belacan flavour mihun.

👎🏻 1) the taste is unique, strong after taste leaving in one’s mouth for some time 2) not the most friendly service, ok, understand that this is not fine dining stall, but at least help the non-regular on suggestions 3) got the wrong order, the aunt made it like the mistake was ours 4) seats and tables are by territories or zones, no cross ordering from other stalls, which should be communicated upfront to avoid misunderstanding
Samuel T — Google review
Small stall with very friendly staffs. Ordered the fried prawn and vegetable fritters. They were crispy, crunchy and delicious with the sweet chili sauce. Definitely order that when wanting a simple snack. This stall is popular for their Belacan Bee Hoon, but didn't manage to try that. They also have Kangkung Sotong and other local dishes.

Loved the belacan bihun here! Had it preserved egg. The gravy had a good balance of sweet and savoury flavour. The bihun was well cooked. Definitely recommend!

Hainan Village Beef Noodle is a small restaurant located in the Sin Sin Park neighborhood of Kuching, offering a delightful dish called lui cha, known for its health benefits. This dish consists of stir-fried greens, preserved radish, bean curd, and nuts served on rice with an aromatic green broth made from herbs and tea leaves. The beef noodles are highly recommended for their flavorful taste and are best enjoyed with bean sprouts and the accompanying soup.
The beef soup is heaven. No air con place. Love it as it is like old times.

It seems the the place is open in the the evening. Two stalls; one serving Kolo Mee, while the other Beef Noodle. The Beef Noodle comes with a choice of Braised Sliced Beef and Tripe. Soup is quite good.
Swee C — Google review
Just saw facebook posted this place and try it. Beef noodle tasted average and got something is stuck in my teeth. Really don’t know what that’s… For Kolomee, take the first bite is delicious. After that, starting to feel a little nauseous. The wantons are too salty. Hope them getting improvement.
Yalun H — Google review
Beef noodles is on point. You don't get plenty ices but the flavour gets the job done! Finish up your beef noodle with the bean sprouts (taugeh) then wash it all down with the soup. Shame it doesn't have a plenty seats or parking spots so choose your hours.
