Restaurant
Lepau Restaurant, located in Persiaran Ban Hock, Kuching, offers a unique dining experience inspired by the traditional wooden concept and decorations of the Kanyan community. The name "Lepau" means farm hut and reflects the restaurant's interior design. The menu features a creative fusion of traditional Kanyan recipes that are becoming increasingly rare with modern cuisine. Visitors can enjoy both indoor and open-air seating in beautifully decorated surroundings.
First time trying Sarawakian food — I’d rate the overall experience a 8/10. What truly stood out to me, though, was the service from a waiter named Fendi. He was incredibly attentive and detailed when recommending dishes from the menu. Not only was the food good, but Fendi took the time to understand how many of us were dining, what my kids might enjoy, and whether certain dishes (like fish or vegetables) might be too strong in flavor. I was genuinely touched by his thoughtful service it made the whole meal feel more special. Thanks to him, everything we ordered turned out well. Great job, Fendi!

This eatery place is always packed with customers. I went on Friday night and it’s already fully booked. Then, I made a reservation for 8.30 pm slot. If you are planning to come here and have a short stay in Kuching, make a booking earlier so that you can enjoy the cuisines. We came and ordered at the table. The waiter explained about the menu. Many diners already made their orders in advance, so we missed the chance to their the purple bario rice. But that’s okay. Of course, we ordered the ayam pansuh and fish umai and few side dishes. And also ice cream with tapai pulut. The waiter also recommended calamari and tempoyak with anchovies. I would saya the tempoyak has a distinct flavor because they cooked the durian paste and add onions and fried anchovies. Overall, we are satisfied. We ordered few drinks on the menu such as air bandung, teh C special and wheatgrass. Though I feel that, it will be better to enjoy your menu with a plain water or chinese tea instead. But thats all depends on preference.

This time tried this famous authentic sarawak restaurant. Ordered : 1. Lepau signature itun uvek fried: the fried rice served in green colour because they used tapioca leaves. Fragrant, unique, and tasty 2. Lepau signature spicy bunga kantan fried:spicy and fragrant. I think they used kecombrang on the fried rice 3. Panduh chicken: a little bit bland for my tongue, and the texture not really my type, but its okay maybe its just my preference. 4. Midin garlic: tasty. They midin itself has some crunchy texture, and the spices they used given some fragrant on the dish dish Overall, nice place to come. The waitress is also nice and informative. The ambiance was good, it's like you're coming to the dayak place. The price is so so.
Kenny K — Google review
My favourite dish was hands down the terung asam prawn dish - prawns were fresh and plump, the dish was unlike anything I’ve tried over on the Semenanjung side. Beef was decent, loved the garlic midin which had plenty of wokhei and crunch. Ayam pansuh was interesting but would appeal to those with a milder palate, personally I think it’s a slightly more flavourful version of the Chinese watercress soup with really tender chicken. It seemed to be impossible to get a table without prior reservation (at least over the weekend), parking is easy, and beware of the mozzies as it’s half open. Would be glad to return!
Piyi S — Google review
I really enjoyed the traditional food here — it’s delicious, and the ambience is warm and pleasant. I enjoy service by FENDY 😻 he’s friendly and well manner. But i dispointed with one girl serving the fruit platter, she gives the fruit to fendy with unpleasant expression. RECOMMENDED RESTAURANT!!!
Siti A — Google review
Big thanks to Fendy for the recommendations, i definitely enjoyed my lunch here, very nice and unique Sarawakian food. Just 2 suggestions, this place can get very hot during lunch time I will suggest them to work on better ventilation system if possible especially outdoor. I also hope they can do smaller portion for single pax like me to enjoy more dishes!
YS O — Google review
This was my second visit here, coming with the same excitement and expectation I had during my first visit back in November 2024. That first experience was truly amazing — the food was memorable and left a lasting impression, especially the bunga kantan pusu and ubi tepus. So this time, I decided to bring my sister along to try them. We arrived around 12:30 PM, and I ordered the same dishes… only to be told they were sold out. That was quite disappointing. I also tried ordering the rice wrapped in leaves, but that too was unavailable — and I was informed that such items should be pre-ordered. It would have been helpful if this was mentioned when making the reservation via WhatsApp. We ended up ordering other dishes instead — ayam pansuh, which unfortunately lacked the same flavor and punch I remembered, ikan assam with terung assam that didn’t quite meet expectations, and midin, which I found rather pricey for the portion. To add, we were told the pandan lemongrass tea (served in a kettle) was refillable, but later discovered there was a charge for the refill — which was confusing. Overall, this visit didn’t quite live up to the wonderful first experience I had, and I left feeling a little disappointed. Total bill for the food was rm119. Mahal nak mampui
Tricia L — Google review
Basically is down to your personal preference. Personally for me is above average. Food is fresh & certain food needs to be order in advance. Anyways please make reservation via their WhatsApp number. Don’t walk in ya.

Breakfast restaurant
Chong Choon Cafe, a cozy and nostalgic cafe near the Kuching Waterfront, has been a local favorite since 1958. It's renowned for its breakfast menu featuring dishes like roti canai, nasi lemak, toast, and eggs. However, the star of the show is the Sarawak laksa – a spicy noodle soup made with coconut milk, chicken, prawns, bean sprouts, and herbs.
Got recommendation to try sarawak laksa here. It is indeed delicious. The broth is yummy and just nice. Wish they put the ‘jeruk limo’ on the empty spoon instead to the chilly sauce. We also order chicken kolo mee. Not bad… And claypot porride, which is not too bad… can feel the rice. Not smooth creamy type. the claypot porride has some minced meat, salted egg and centry egg. We need to mix the flavor by ourselves.
Yusnianti L — Google review
Ordered $8 laksa, diluted gravy. Kolo mee $5 no ingredient. Toast too sweet. Prawn cracker decent. Nasi lemak not fragrant. I won’t recommend.
Cheryl N — Google review
Very crowded and need to Q for seat. The laksa is nice with fresh big springy prawn. Not suitable for solo as difficult to order food as no one take care of table
Eugene L — Google review
Nice local breakfast joint. Laksa and Popiah is a popular choice. Order the milk tea with less sugar
Eve's C — Google review
It is known for a delicious laksa, but i tried my best to eat it to not waste food. The strong smell (in negative way) and shrimp is so tiny and dirty, they dont even clean the tail, which i mean i still can see some dirt and black pattern on the tail. Besides, i tried a americano which was a disaster, super sweet and cannot be called a coffee at all. Definitely not come back!!
Trần M — Google review
Found this place near the hotel I stayed. Been wanting to try popiah but a few of the places I went weren't open so I decided to visit here to try my luck. Was just a 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Arrived pretty early before 730 and there was already quite a lot of people. I head about the popiah and toast here and decided to give it a try. Luckily the popiah stall was opened. Ordered an original one and the other with the seaweed skin. From another stall ordered the toast and the teh c special. First came the teh c and the toast. Loved the way the tec c is served here, quite an interesting layering and looks sweet but isn't actually sweet. The toast was quite good, almost blew me away. Loved the crispiness and the rich kaya taste. Then came the popiah. Tasted pretty good though the sweet sauce was quite different from what I expected it wasn't sweet. The taste was quite light. On the other hand, the seaweed one tasted better cause I think the main reason was the seaweed had pretty good flavour which enhanced the taste of the popiah. Regretted ordering 2 I didn't expect it to be so filling, it looked quite small from the ones I saw people eating so I decided to get 2. It was a good breakfast experience here and I enjoyed the food and drinks here. Still quite a few other stalls worth venturing but was too full for that. Cheap and good. Recommended.
Matthew L — Google review
Very local place for breakfast and maybe lunch. We arrived around 0800 and left a few empty table which was subsequently full after which. I got the Kolo Mee and Sarawak laksa. I enjoyed the Kolo Mee which you can get the white or red one. Recommend to try both if you want to know which you like. I personally like the white one as the red one was a little sweeter with char siew sauce. Sarawak laksa was famous but I think I didn’t really enjoy it but it’s a personal preference thing. I think a hidden gem is the popiah! They had crispy biscuit inside which make every mouth so shiok unlike SG ones which can be too nua. Skip the coffee here haha. Maybe get the three layer tea instead.
Kah T — Google review
I came for the laksa. When I order, I did not mention I want normal or special one. So when the order came, judging by the look I thought it was normal but it was actually special as I had to pay Rm10 for it. Tastewise, I personally think it is overrated. The broth is thin. Only 3 pieces of prawns for special laksa & few shredded chickens. Portion is small. Not a definition of special to me. You can find such taste anywhere else in Kuching. Just a small tip for travellers. Travel a bit further if you want to try good laksa. Go to Aunty Cafe at Aiman Commercial Centre in Samarahan. For a normal rm8 laksa, the portion is big and the taste is much more sedap.

Nestled in a prime location overlooking Kuching's waterfront, James Brooke Bistro & Cafe offers a charming experience with its romantic ambiance and picturesque views of the river. Whether you prefer to relax indoors or take a leisurely stroll in the garden, this bistro provides an ideal setting for enjoying afternoon tea or sunset cocktails. With a menu featuring both Western and local dishes, visitors can indulge in freshly roasted coffee from Sarawak plantations while taking in the serene beauty of the surroundings.
It's a pretty cafe, located in front of the waterfront river. The view was fantastic. The cafe itself is surrounded by all the trees and very gardeny. The food was good and the best was the banana fritter with ice cream. Thank you so much to the waitress for recommending the dessert. I love it so much. I'll visit the cafe again for sure.

1st time cuba this place. love the place. Curry laksa was nice cuma sikit manis. Tomyam laksa not so much because it tasted too sweet for a tomyam dish. but we managed to finish our food. in term of price agak pricey sikit lah, restaurant kinda price lah. memang dah dijangka considering it is a bistro and cafe and located at tourist spot. just didnt like the way the toilet was, with the door wide open nampak macam tak proper sikit lah. just my opinion lah hoh.
Siti D — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous interior. Full of Sarawak things. Food was decent, i ordered a vegetarian friendly laksa (can't remember the name) and it tasted good, but my friend who ordered his mee goreng mamak said it was too salty. Prices were on the steep end too. Overall its a good place to dine in every once in a while
Bernard K — Google review
We visited three times during our visit to Kuching, the first was purely because the torrential rain started and it was the closest place to run and shelter. We just stopped for a couple of drinks, however the menu looked enticing enough for us to return on 2 more occasions for food and drink. Cannot fault the service, the food and the prices were more than reasonable. Get the timing right for the evening meal and you'll get to see the evening light show.
Ed H — Google review
Did actually think a lot about whether to dine here because I was actually more interested in trying local food than dine in a western restaurant, but actually in Kuching the options at night are rather limited as most of the local place close very early. I had a look at the menu and saw some interesting options so decided to give it a try. Located along the promenade and a very convenient location, though its quite dark at night you couldn't see much happening at the promenade other than people. Service of the staff could be improved. Was a little slow getting them to take orders. One walked to me to say he would come take my order and he forgot. The other I asked for recommendations and he just said don't know. There were a few different kinds of laksa, and I just went with my gut feel to randomly pick one. The other was the dish which made me sat down was the sweet potato fries. And I also ordered a lemongrass drink. First came the lemongrass drink. Tasted pretty okay but for 15RM its definitely on the expensive side. Then came the laksa and bang, it was exactly the flavours I liked and they really executed it very well with the right taste and the right noodles. Very satisfying bowl of noodles and because it was so satisfying it was value for the money. The sweet potato fries was a little disappointing. Didn't expect them to sprinkle black pepper on top of the fries, which tasted so weird and they gave me tomato sauce as a dip. Looked like they cut a whole sweet potato and it was just too much for me after the bowl of noodles. That bowl of laksa saved the meal else the rating might have been even lower. If you ask me that might be one of the best bowls of laksa I have tasted in Kuching. Hits and misses but overall satisfying meal. It would be worth a 3.5 more than a 3.
Matthew L — Google review
No other customer but I waited half an hour for my order- just a plate of finger food. Came without cutleries, and the server didn't give us any after requested. I ended up using my fingers. Server attitude also not friendly, give me a sour face even though mixing up my order after I waited for 30 minutes. The wash basin is very dirty. The setting is nice, good view and scenery. Good place to hang out if you have a lot of time and money.
Shir T — Google review
A really good quaint cafe restaurant. A good menu selection at very good value. Good views across the river. Lovely setting and well recommend.
Keith A — Google review
This is a great location and the laksa was pretty good. The restaurant itself is somewhat tired and shabby looking. The breakfast, described as 2 eggs and chicken sausage, is actually much more substantial.

Bla Bla Bla is a unique Chinese restaurant with a Bali-inspired natural green concept. The use of wooden tables and chairs creates a romantic and comfortable dining atmosphere. The menu features dishes like Sayur Midin, Ayam Pandan, Itik Peking Pancake, Cakur Manis, and delectable Western cuisine that have received top ratings from visitors.
A hidden gem in Kuching, wasn't expecting much from this restaurant but ended up being super satisfied. We enjoyed each of the dishes we had, and the ambiance was nice. Be noted that the portion size of the foods are quite a lot. Besides, staffs were very friendly and helpful. Great experience overall.

Four of us couldn't finish the big portion of 1-pax fried rice and veggies. The Mango duck was nice and tasty, this dish was served with 8 spoons of mango and duck.
Happy W — Google review
the food is superb, so far the best meal I've had in Kuching. looking forward to be back at this restaurant again in the near future.
Henry Y — Google review
We had originally intended to eat at a nearby Thai restaurant only to discover upon arrival that it was permanently closed. Bla Bla Bla was virtually next door and based on typically good reviews we decided to eat here instead. Access to the restaurant upstairs is via a number of paving slabs set over water, ahead of the stairs. The layout of the restaurant is relatively simple, but airy thanks to the airconditioning. Various alcoholic beverages feature on a very extensive menu that offers all manner of Asian fusion food. We ordered the black pepper beef, Thai style crispy chicken with mango, and a midin salad. The first observation about the portion sizes is that they are quite large. We probably could have ordered just the one main course between us as we struggled to eat everything that was brought out. The black pepper beef had an intense, but not overwhelming, flavour and the beef was tender. The chicken dish had quite a chilli kick to it that was moderated by the mango, and this combination worked well. The overall price of the meal was somewhat higher than in similar restaurants in Kuching, but this was probably more a reflection of the quite large portion sizes.
Richard W — Google review
A rather nice atmospheric spot, although the service could be better and the food as well for the price. The signature cashew nut prawns are unfortunately not worth it. Ask them for unshelled option (and pay 8 MYR more), if you desperately must have them. We could have chosen better in Kuching. 🤷‍♂️
Aleš K — Google review
The stir fried Midin/fern and the Pandan chicken was amazing! The rice/noodle dishes say they are for one person but the portion is huge, so I think they mean portion for one if you’re not getting any other dish.
Wanzhen X — Google review
The food is nice and big portion but the price is abit pricey , don’t expect too much about their service .
Vinie C — Google review
The dining area is a bit different from the photos online, but still nice and spacious. The food is good. When you order, you have to be careful with the proportion as it is very tricky. If you come with two people or a family of three with one kid, you just need to order three dishes maximum for standard (S, 4-5 ppl) proportion. Or you can order more dishes but for one person proportion. Hope you will enjoy the food. And bear in mind the service is very slow if it’s full.

Located in Kuching, Sarawak's capital city, The Junk is a top choice for a romantic fine dining experience. This restaurant is part of the city's exceptional charm and offers an implausible past that sets it apart from other Malaysian cities. The location of the restaurant makes it convenient for visitors to explore nearby attractions such as Kuching Wetlands National Park and Sarawak Cultural Village.
Such an interesting place to visit and have a meal. Food is well prepared and huge portions. Western cuisine. The pizza is really good. Managed to try the chicken chop, fish and chips and pizza only.

The Junk offers a unique dining experience with its interesting and eclectic decorations. The food is delicious, with large portions, so it’s best to share with friends and family. A great spot for a hearty meal in a cozy setting.

The Junk Restaurant in Kuching is truly a gem and one of the city’s must-visit dining spots. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm and inviting filled with rustic charm and a cozy, artistic vibe that makes the whole experience extra special. It’s a place that perfectly combines great food with a unique ambience. The dishes here are outstanding. I was especially impressed with their Duck Mango Salad light, refreshing, and bursting with flavors. The combination of tender duck with sweet mango and a zesty dressing was simply unforgettable. Another highlight was the Lamb Shank, which was cooked to perfection. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, rich in flavor, and paired wonderfully with the sides. Both dishes were a perfect showcase of the chef’s skill and creativity. On top of that, the portions are generous, the presentation is beautiful, and you can tell that a lot of attention goes into every detail. Service was also excellent, the staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Overall, The Junk is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor in Kuching, it’s definitely worth coming here for a memorable meal. Highly recommended and I’ll certainly be back again!

Very friendly service. The portions are quite large. We asked for half portions as not to waste food and Mari kindly did so. Also they have a great wine selection to chose from.

This was the most amazing restaurant experience I've ever had. My family and I travelled around Malaysia for three weeks, and this was by far the greatest place we ate. The service was quick and easy, and the staff were very polite. The atmosphere was beautiful and family friendly. And most importantly, the food was fantastic! The menu was extremely big and offered a wide selection of dishes. I had a smoked salmon pizza which was incredible and the rest of my family spoke highly of their meals as well. Overall, an amazing place to eat, and a beautiful environment to eat in.

Cafe
Black Bean Coffee is a quaint cafe situated on Carpenter Street, known for its distinctive coffee offerings. The cafe specializes in brewing Sarawak coffee beans using modern espresso machines, offering a unique twist to the traditional local kopitiam style. In addition to Sarawak coffee, they also feature a variety of Arabica, Liberica, and Robusta coffees sourced from Java and Sumatra, along with premium oolong and green teas from Taiwan.
Black Bean Coffee in Kuching perfectly blends old-world charm with a modern sensibility. This enduring cafe is a true local treasure. Their Americano is exceptional – a rich, complex, and incredibly smooth brew that stands out. The complimentary peanut biscuit was so good, I bought extra packets to take home! Prices are reasonable. While there's no air conditioning and it can be warm, both indoor and outdoor seating are available. They also offer a fantastic selection of coffee beans for sale. For a great coffee experience that's both authentic and affordable, Black Bean Coffee is highly recommended.

A small café in a quiet alley of traditional shops right in the city. One can buy local coffee beans as well as other varieties. It's nice to sit down and relax to take a sip of the locally brewed aroma.

Black Bean Coffee is an unpretentious Kuching gem. The staff are straightforward and no-nonsense: keep your order simple and you won’t be disappointed. The coffee speaks for itself. I had the best iced latte of my whole trip to Borneo here. Definitely worth a stop for anyone who appreciates good, honest coffee.
Ilke K — Google review
I would say the most decent of black coffee I had in KCH. I got the ice americano and if you like bitter black coffee like me, this is for you. I tried the cappuccino too and it was very fragrant as well. Nice little place for a cup of coffee and they do sell little pastries too.

As a coffee traveller to search about best coffee in whole World, im a bit disappointed with the old lady services. I expected good recommendations but there is no great customer service unless by the young lady who served me was good. Coffee preparation should be not sounds like angry. But anyway the Coffee was awesome and great taste and the ambience was amazing. But only lack of customer services. should be nice for engagement recomendation to customers ass i wanted to know what the best history and best selling coffee here.
Danny D — Google review
The taste was a bit disappointing for me. If you like light coffee, this is a good option. If you prefer a strong and rich coffee, this isn't recommended. The Americano was okay, tastes like a medium or light roast. The Gula Apong Latte tasted just sugary, the coffee was light. After adding sugar and milk, the coffee flavor was almost gone. Besides that, the older Chinese lady’s attitude wasn’t very nice. We actually arrived first, but she insisted another couple was ahead of us. When we walked in, we were the only two new customers. I’m 100% sure, because it’s Monday, not crowded at all. There was only one angmo couple already sitting and having their coffee, besides that there’s no others customer and we were the only ones standing in the shop. A bit later, I saw another couple come in and stand beside us. Maybe the older Chinese lady just didn’t notice us at first, but the way she said it made me feel uncomfortable—like I was the one cutting in line.

Legendary coffee experience that every coffee enthusiast should try. Imagine a quite hidden cafe that serves a must-try coffee with a strong aroma and bold taste. This coffee can be customised to your liking with varying levels of sugar, and it's available as a refreshing iced and hot coffee option as well. For those who seek out exceptional coffee experiences, this place is a gem worth discovering. This cafe also offers other options like tea and chocolate.
Nasha — Google review
This hidden gem of a coffee shop is located along a busy road with little parking spots available, so you'll have to park much further away and walk to it. That said, it's worth the trip if you're looking for a strong cup of coffee, because this place really delivers! The iced coffee proved to be a wonderful respite from the humidity and heat, and was strong enough for my liking. The iced chocolate was a little on the weaker side though, so definitely come for the java. Seats are also very limited as its a small space, so do come during non-peak hours.

Choon Hui Cafe in Sarawak has gained iconic status, especially after being praised by Anthony Bourdain for its Kuching Laksa. This dish is a flavorful blend of shredded chicken, fresh prawns, and bean sprouts in a rich and spicy soup. Another must-try is the mee kolok at Kak Bedah Cafe, known for its Halal version of the dish.
One of the best spots I’ve tried for Sarawak Laksa! The broth is rich, fragrant, and packed with authentic flavor — perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. The prawns and shredded chicken were fresh and generous too. I also had their 3 Layer Tea — super refreshing and not overly sweet, with a good balance of milk, tea, and gula apong. Cozy environment and friendly staff. A must-try if you’re craving true Sarawakian taste!
Kw L — Google review
If you’re into Sarawak Laksa, most people will point you to Choon Hui. In my humble opinion, they make a tasty bowl of laksa but not necessarily the best bowl. Apologies to my Kuching friends but I truly believe the best bowl of Sarawak Laksa is to be had in Petaling Jaya at Lao Mao Cafe in Megan Rise Mall. To be fair, it’s not an apples to apples compare as the bowl of Sarawak Laksa at Lao Mao cost slightly more than twice that charged by Choon Hui. So the quality of ingredients and spices used in the broth are at a different level. For the price that they charge, I have no complaints about what Choon Hui delivers. A simple delicious bowl of noodles. Had the Kolo Mee here too. Think the noodles are too soft and the dry mix is a little bland and needs the vinegared chillies to provide some complexity.

Choon Hui Cafe in Kuching is a popular stop for tourists. The Sarawak laksa here is delicious, with a rich broth and well-balanced toppings that make it very satisfying. However, what stood out for me the most was the popiah — fresh, packed with flavour and served with a tasty dipping sauce that really elevates it. A great place to enjoy some authentic local favourites.
Joseph K — Google review
This place opens and closes very early. We came around 1015 and the place was still packed. The kolo Mee shop was already closed for the day. We got the Sarawak laksa and a porridge. The food was ok. Nothing too outstanding. By the time we are done, the laksa have finished even before their closing time of 11am. Parking is a huge issue as there really was very limited parking.
Sharon T — Google review
The laksa sarawak is nice, took the small bowl and the portion is nice and cost rm8 The only issue we had no cash🥲 They dont accept card and QR. Probably will be more convenient if they have that service. Even the drinks guy-doesnt have QR code Had to run to nearby bank across the road to withdraw money. Nice place to try,but pls carry cash with you.
Shan S — Google review
The laksa wasn’t quite to my liking. The broth was creamy but lacked the strong prawn flavour I expected, so it didn’t feel very balanced. Prawns were fresh, but the noodles were slightly overcooked, and I unfortunately found a strand of hair in the bowl. The kolo mee, on the other hand, was better - a bit on the dry side, but the shallot aroma was fragrant and flavourful. I also ordered Teh C Special, but it came with ants. They did replace it, though the second cup still had ants around the rim. Service was polite, but overall the experience could be improved in terms of quality control. it

I think this is one of the more popular and touristy coffeeshops in Kuching recommended in quite a number ot social media sites. Visited on a weekday morning and didn't expect this place to be so crowded. I was also recommended this place by a friend and decided to come here to try the popiah and laksa. Managed to get a table after a few minutes, but I didn't waste time and I ordered the laksa while waiting for a table. Could see they were busy but it didn't take long for the food to be served. Had a try and it was not bad, I didn't try a lot of laksa here but I thought it was one of the better ones. Couldn't see the popiah stall so I asked someone and apparently it wasn't opened. Disappointed. Then ordered the special teh c and decided to get the toast as well. The teh c was good and the toast was even better. It exceeded my expectations as it was so crispy and the kaya was light. Not a bad place for breakfast do expect crowds and hope I get to visit again and try the popiah. There's a kolo mee stall too if I remember correctly so its a place where you can try most of the local specialties. Recommended.
Matthew L — Google review
Choon Hui Cafe is a classic, old-style Kuching kopitiam serving genuine local dishes cooked by the community. Their Laksa, Kolo Mee, toasted bread, and popiah are all tasty and highly recommended. Despite no air conditioning, the cafe is surprisingly airy and comfortable. The only downside was the 3-Layer Teh C Special, which tasted diluted and lacked fragrance. Overall, Choon Hui Cafe is a fantastic spot for delicious, authentic local food in a traditional setting.

Chinese noodle restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a delightful noodle experience in Kuching, look no further than Noodle Descendants. This beloved eatery has been serving up delicious dishes since 1957, making it as historic as Malaysia itself. The menu features simple yet flavorful offerings, including their renowned mix pork soup noodles that come with a variety of noodle options like mee and bee hoon. Each bowl is accompanied by a savory clear pork offal soup that bursts with umami goodness.
Old fashion restaurant run by seniors (slow steady service). Noodles is fresh, chewy and bouncy. Vinegar flavored mee pok is unique & nice. Soup is homely flavored (not msg imo). Expect to wait 20-30 mins for orders to be filled 😂
Shun — Google review
Is it good? Yeah. Is it worth the off-peak wait? Eh So how this works is as such — you queue for a table, then wait for the old lady to ask for your order. Even though i didn’t rush her (I just kept looking around to see if she had noticed me), she came over to scold me to “Wait” Even though I showed up in the late morning with no queue for a table, I still had to wait for 45 min before my order was taken (soup & kosong), and it took yet another 15 min before I was served. The noodles were incredible but the soup was really only alright, where the liver was definitely overcooked. Skip this unless you’re ready to lose 2 hours; I’m sure there are equivalents that are just as good
Deborah C — Google review
Sorry, it’s really not worth the wait. 30 minutes just to get a seat and another 30 minutes to get the food. If you’re hungry, better not come here, because you might even get gastritis while waiting. When the food was finally served, the konlo mee was indeed delicious, but the mixed soup was just average. Nothing special, just some seaweed added into the soup. Really not worth it. They only speak Chinese, so if you don’t know the language, it’s quite difficult to place an order. All staff are elderly. To improve their service, they need to hire younger workers to handle the noodles and soup section. They should also add more preparation stalls so that the preparation work can be done faster. They also need to wear head covers and gloves when preparing or handlings food. Prioritising cleanliness when handling food is very important. Price is ok. Happy tummy happy customer 😊

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent Authentic Taste! Had breakfast at Noodle Descendants, Padungan — one of Kuching’s true local gems! The noodles were smooth, springy, and perfectly seasoned, topped with crispy fried shallots for that nostalgic homemade aroma. The soup was rich, flavorful, and packed with tender pork slices, fish balls, and seaweed, giving a comforting, well-balanced taste. Despite the queue, the service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere felt authentically local — simple, clean, and full of Kuching heritage.

I decided to drop in at Noodles Descendents, after I was told that this is one of the many famed Kolo Mee houses in Kuching that locals patronise. Depending on what you perceive to be Kolo Mee (the crinkly curly wheat noodle type), in my opinion as a tourist, Noodle Descendants does not serve Kolo Mee. For me, Noodle Descendants serve what seems to be a local (traditional) version of the Hokkien or Teochew Bak Chor Mee 肉挫面... Wheat noodles with pork and pork offal and innards. Regardless, I ordered mine to come with the thicker, wider Mee Pok 面薄 noodle rather than the typical Mee Kia 面仔noodle commonly used for Kampua Noodles or Wanton Noodles. And, it has vinegar too, which if you dislike, you need to tell the chef beforehand. Overall, the noodle and accompanying soup I had is very similar, if not the same, as the ones I had at Kim Joo in Chinatown, Kuching. Although similar, both are unique by their own standards. Both noodles at Noodle Descendants and Kim Joo were simple and traditional (that I was told), but not mind-blowing---with the use of pork lard and fried onion oil combo, black vinegar, soya sauce and probably MSG as the noodle base, with slices of lean pork, minced pork, Char Siew pork, pork innards and offal to accompany. The soup, whether offered as a side or purchased additionally was surprisingly bland... 🤔 The significant difference between Noodle Descendants and Kim Joo was that Noodles Descendants gave slithers of pickled mustard greens, whilst Kim Joo gave bean sprouts (Dao Gey 豆芽). Service was relatively good, although the older lady whom I believe is the co-owner was rather loud when she spoke, but it's simply because she aged and probably now harder in hearing. Overall, although not extraordinary or mind-blowing, I did enjoy Noodle Descendants' noodles after putting in some light soya sauce and cut chillies. If I am within the vicinity, and crave for such type of Teochew/Hokkien noodles, I'll definitely drop in.

Tried this famous restaurant in kuching and ordered their kolo mee. Actually it's good, but not that special for me. And considering the services, which is really slow, and the place itself was really hot, i dont think I will come back to this place again.
Kenny K — Google review
Sorry but really not worthy of the long wait... Don't order the normal in soup in the pic as it's bland and not very tasty although the mee tai mak is chewy. The other soup with kosong is much nicer and flavourful but still I don't think I would want to wait again...

This shop is located in a very crowded place. Parking is quite a challenge. Coz you may need to park far a way. However if your hotel is in surrounding area that will not be a problem. It is within tourist area too. It has established since 1957. It’s a family business, they maintain their technique and way of preparing the noodles in a very special. Most important it is to my liking. It’s like eating at home. Below here are my observation results and things that I like: - the noodle is cooked properly (very hot) so till the end of your meal, the noodle is still warm - the sauce is just right - the soup is to my liking: i don't like internal organs, so mine has only meats, sliced fish cake, fish ball and minced meat. You can have the soup with rice, bee hoon, mee pok or kwe tiaw. Their system is like this: - come and queue for empty table - when it’s your turn, the waitress will assigned you the table. - you wait the drinks waitress to take order your drinks - there will be another waitress who takes your noodle order - then you wait till the food is come. ^_^ it's not super fast but not super slow (depends on the crowdness). - you eat after finish then you can pay directly to the cashier at the back or ask the cashier to come to your table. (better you go to the back)

Restaurant
Topspot Food Court is a beloved dining spot in Borneo, known for its pleasant ambiance and excellent seafood. Located on the 4th floor among various small restaurants, it stands out as a favorite choice. Visitors praise the friendly and attentive service, with one particular server being highly commended for her helpfulness and recognition of returning guests. The menu offers a variety of delectable dishes at reasonable prices, with highlights including the flavorful Thai prawn dish and grilled squid.
This is the reason I love to visit Kuching compared to other state/regions. The seafoods here are cheaper and nice. This is my second visit to Kuching and I dine in here twice in 4 days journey. I gonna miss all seafood and midin! Tips for outsiders, try check out the price of all seafood in every restaurant as everyone offers different price for same item/seafood.

Worth to visit as a visitor. Very crowded foodcourt with multiple seafood stalls located at the roof top of UTC building if i'm not mistaken. They missed our orders so few dishes are being cancelled as some ingredients/seafood already sold out and been waited for so long. There's a satay stall, can order some satay and kuih as appetizer while waiting. Ordered their huge size sugar cane drinks with lychee, quite new to me and taste not bad. Must order - cereal prawns (a bit different from the cereal prawn that I had but taste not bad, sweet), bbq prawn (looks like pan fried prawns, simple fresh and sweet) and stir fried vegetables (wow~ Sarawak's vegetables really taste so fresh and crunchy!)
CVC — Google review
Topspot Kuching is a lively spot with tons of seafood stalls, so you can pick whichever you like. The variety and atmosphere are great, especially for groups. But the taste isn’t always consistent. Sometimes it is really good, other times disappointing, even if you order from the same stall. Worth checking out, just don’t expect steady quality every visit.
Low K — Google review
Top Spot in Kuching is a true seafood institution — lively, bustling, and overflowing with the aroma of fresh catches being grilled, steamed, and stir-fried to perfection. It’s a one-stop haven for seafood lovers, offering everything from butter prawns and midin to succulent crab and perfectly cooked fish. The variety is unmatched, and the dishes come out fast, flavourful, and generously portioned. Each stall has its own signature touch, but the overall experience is unmistakably Kuching — vibrant, communal, and full of life. Yes, it has the hallmarks of a tourist trap — bright lights, big crowds, and plenty of cameras clicking away — but it’s one of those rare places where the hype is completely justified. The seafood is fresh, the prices are fair for what you get, and the atmosphere is pure Sarawak charm. You might come expecting a simple dinner, but you’ll leave with a story — and probably a new favourite dish or two.

Tourist famous eating place in Kuching. Seafood paradise. Many people during weekend and holiday. Food is nice and serve quick. Environment a bit hot but drink is cool.

Everything was superb. The price was also not too bad for the amount we ordered. Seafood was quite fresh. Ideally come before 6pm as it will soon be crowded and booking/reservations is also recommended if U come after 6pm
Flanku — Google review
Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are affordable and seafood is available. The place (like Topspot) is more of a basic food area no entertainment, no city view like a rooftop. It feels quite hot, even with big fans. Not very suitable for toddlers or families looking for comfort. No air-conditioned dining area.
Sahrul T — Google review
Awful experience at stall number 33. Had soft shell crab, the order came covered in flour and batter. I could only taste the breading. Why pay so much, when I cannot taste the seafood! Would have been better off at KFC. The stalls having bright flashy neon signs - avoid.

Siniawan Night Market is a lively and atmospheric evening spot in Sarawak, Malaysia, offering a wide array of hawker food stalls and casual eateries. This hidden gem comes alive every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, providing visitors with an immersive experience of authentic local culture and delectable street food.
Went there on Saturday 2.30pm. Still very quiet and most of the shops are still not open. We Still can get some coffee and teow chew Kuey, 肉卷. The store owner said, the street is busy on morning and evening time only. Afternoon is nothing much. Can also see convenience stall to sell groceries, rice, Raw Black chicken eggs and etc. Whole town is still quiet and easy to take pictures. Very nice town. It is good to stop over here if you passby here: We went to the nearer Chinese temple to pray too. The shop houses maintain quite nice. 👌
Jasminelcf — Google review
Siniawan Bazaar has come a long way since 2008 when a grass root movement began documenting this mining outpost for fear of complete destruction by king tide floods. Water line can reach as high as roof top of these ironwood-built shophouses. Theirs and the community's efforts eventuated a flood mitigation and drainage project by the government. Fast forward to 2025, the new Waterfront public space became the newest addition (circa Sept 26th, 2025) to an once abandoned historical place (circa 1840). The Sarawak Heritage Society Executive Committee for 2010-2012 gets a special mention for their work here. Siniawan has two annual anchor events to highlight. The 'chap goh meh' (15th day of Chinese New Year) street parade is rooted in cultural (hakka) traditions. The other is the transplated root in the Siniawan Country Music Festival (since 2016). The main street is now a mall where the pedestrain only stretch teems with street food stalls from Fridays to Sundays. P/S Siniawan Night Market is a misnomer. Save for the odd fruits for additional revenue stream, one cannot buy fresh produce there. A better label would be 'Siniawan Night Food Mall'.

Nice place to hangout or date with your love one or more than one....since i like the vibe or atmosphere of traditional chinese old town and classic. Recommended to be there early before night falls,as very limited of parking spaces and it takes time as well to go around look for foods and ask the shpp owner before sit. Some of the shop owner not allowing outside food on their tables as they have to clean it up which you didn'torder any food from the shop owner. Its better to ask before simply take your seat and bring outside food or other stalls to the table.Be well mannered and ask politely.😉

We drove to this place on a Sunday evening thinking it was a night market. It was in fact a food street market in a cowboy looking town. It was rather small. The stalls were interesting and we had some delicious food there. It is 35 mins from Kuching city so you can only get here with a car. I would only recommend it if you had nothing else plan as it was quite out of the way.

Food court
Lau Ya Keng Foodcourt is a bustling spot located in Attap Street, opposite a Chinese temple. The corner stall is always busy with kitchen staff chopping meat and serving bowls of kway chap. The food court offers pork satay, fish ball noodle soup, and Sarawak laksa. It's recommended to try the pork satay as it stands out among the offerings.
Kueh Chap is one of the Sarawakian delicacies I was told that I must try here @ LYK, before I die... 😂😂😅 I came to LYK twice this weekend---with two wholly different experiences. Even though there were Kolo Mee, Fish Ball Noodles, Sarawak Laksa and Tomato Hor Fun (Tomato Broad Rice Noodles) available, I came, and only had the Kueh Chap the first time, and Kueh Chap again and Tomato Hor Fun the second time I visited. My first experience: It was about Thursday 3PM, but there were at least 30 customers all having dark soy braised pork and offal dishes of different variations offered by the same vendor. I ordered the mixed Kueh Chap @ RM 15, but was told that it is on the expensive side given the amount served, and that tourists willingly pay the higher price without question. Overall, it's a good, decent Kueh Chap served in a small claypot (which I believe is for presentation only). It came with slices of Hun Kueh (meaning broad white rice noodles), lean pork, minced pork, pork ribs, pork rind, pig's intestines, pig's liver and more in a dark soy savoury broth, all cooked to perfection. ⭐⭐⭐ Was it good? Yes. Was it mind-blowing? No. The lady who attended to my order was courteous, and patient with my 20/20 questions. My second experience: It's Sabbath today! So, what better way to celebrate it with pork! 😂😂😂 It's about 3PM (again) when I arrived @LYK. This time, the entire place was packed to the brim, Chinese people mainly, and once again, nearly everyone was having dark soy braised pork and offal, and at least 20 people were ahead in queue. Rather than queuing, I found a seat and ordered Tomato Hor Fun (Tomato Broad Rice Noodles) (RM 10). Although it arrived piping hot (which I liked), it had only 1 tiny prawn, and a few small slices of chicken and fish cake swimming in a dirty reddish gravy. I found the use and taste of tomato ketchup in this dish odd, and hard to enjoy. I know it's wasteful, but l left 3/4 untouched...⭐ Not gonna waste my calories on this. The second experience with the braised pork and offal stall was a gazillion times better than the first. This time, at RM 18, the food was served separately, not in a claypot. Separated into separate dishes, the Kueh Chap meal still tasted great, but for some reason, I felt more satisfied and wanted more this round. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unfortunately, the side order of Loh Bak (Minced Pork Sausage) was disappointing. I only had a bite, and left it alone. Minus points! If I pass by this vendor again, and if I am hungry at the time, I'll probably hit the dark soy braised pork and offal stall again for more. 😁 Worth trying people...

We visited Lau Ya Keng Food Court at Carpenter Street and really enjoyed the experience. We had the kampua noodles and kopi — both were nice and reasonably priced. The place itself is quite special, as the food court is built right in front of a temple theatre stage, giving it a unique old-town charm. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Kuching!
Chee L — Google review
This place was originally a Chinese opera stage performing shows for the temple located directly opposite. Overtime it has evolved to a covered food court with stalls selling food such as Kolo Mee, Kueh Chap, Sarawak Laksa, Pork Satay and Porridge. We have tried out 4 different Kolo Mee stalls and it turns out that this was our Top 3. Most of the stalls today are selling the new version of the Kolo Mee which is the QQ version (curly). The noodle was springy and the seasoning was great. The char siew on top was smoky and delicious. They all served white and red versions where the latter gave a slightly sweeter taste due to the added char siew sauce. As for the Kueh Chap, it tastes Ok but not great. For people that hate “porky taste” you may want to avoid this as they braised the pork organs in the same gravy. The same stall is also selling the home recipe chinese glutinous dumpling that mixed with white rice that makes it less jelak compared to the standard recipe.
WF S — Google review
A bustling place with interesting cultural design of a temple. My favourite stall in this location has to be the satay! Super good - well grilled satay, nicely seasoned, with amazing peanut sauce. There's a kway chup stall where i ordered the kway chup which tasted ordinary. The rice dumpling was exceptional. Tomato noodles from another stall was alright, but it's a unique flavour for me. Fishball soup was below average with nothing to rave about. 3 layer tea was a disappointment, with no delectable taste; tasted like water actually.

This food court could be your one stop center for a few famous Sarawakian dishes. May not be the best in town but it is good enough if you want to have a taste of Sarawak Laksa, Kueh Chap, Kolo Mee. To me the Kueh Chap is really good. The laksa is good (not great) and the kolo mee was decent. Price wise is quite decent as well. Atmosphere is a little warm during the afternoon. Can get quite packed during peak hours. Parking wise is limited, do prepare to walk a little.

Great Sarawak Laksa at Lau Ya Keng Foodcourt. The Kolo Mee was decent but I think there are better ones. Did not get to try the Pork Satay. Also they have great Kway Chap at Lao Ya Keng Kuching (at night only). Must check out the fried pork with garlic and the fried fish eggs sides.
Danny L — Google review
I always saw my friends recommending this spot for its laksa, especially since you can choose your own toppings, that really caught my interest. The location itself seems tourist-friendly, it resembles a temple or perhaps a Chinese opera house, making it quite photogenic. 📸 We ordered the laksa with cockles and added enoki mushrooms, totaling a little over RM20 per bowl. It’s honestly the priciest Sarawak laksa I’ve had so far 😬 While the flavor was decent, the broth was a bit thin unless you mix in more sambal. One thing to watch out for: double-check your order, as ours came out wrong and the seller seemed unsure when we corrected it. 😢 The kueh chap was good and came with a generous portion. Don’t miss out on trying the cakoi too!

Kim Joo is a popular eatery in Kuching, known for its kolo mee, a dry noodle dish native to Sarawak. The restaurant also offers other noodle dishes like char siew noodles and various types of mee/kueh tiaw. Additionally, on weekdays and Saturdays, Kim Joo serves a selection of rice dishes from 9 AM to 2 PM.
A traditional Kolo Mee which is harder to find nowadays. They remain using the home-made straight noodles instead of the new version of QQ noodles. The texture was less springy but can taste the fragrance from the flour. Remember to order the option with added vinegar to the noodles. The seasoning was spot-on and it gives a memorable after-taste. As for the environment, it feels like walking through a time portal. The current owner was the third generation. The shop was old but alive and there’s a quiet dignity in its worn wall tiles, a resilience in the owner’s eyes, and a comforting familiarity that only time can cultivate.
WF S — Google review
I’ve been told that the Kolo Mee here uses noodles that resemble the traditional type used decades ago rather than the curly ones popular today. What struck me most though, was the clever use of vinegar and the tasty pig organs that they included in the soup. Absolutely delicious!

Came here to try their kolo mee. They had the white version including the innards. It was quite nice. Not out of the world though. This shop looked like it has been around for a while. Takeaway is an extra RM0.50 for them to wrap it up in a plastic.

Typical afternoon, parking was packed and got lucky today after 2 rounds looking for parking space nearby. I ordered Char Siew Kolo Noodle & Cheng (a hearty soup with variety of pork meat and organs). To my tastebud it was okay, but I wish they gave me char siew pork that have fat in it 🤭 I like my char siew or pork garnish on the noodles to have fat in it (my personal preference) the one that they serve me is a bit dry. However, the soup or Cheng is just enough flavourful. Inside they put seaweed and taugeh but still i need some fat in my meats 🫣🫣 Anyways, I have tried it and I am grateful what have been served to my order. I will be back here and order different menu 🤩🤩 Please if you guys can just upgrade your drinks quality, the teh c peng I drank is quite bland. Overall is good 👍👍

I have tried their handmade sio bee. You can feel like having a home taste sio bee. Very original, not much added flavor, no msg. For the noodle wise, the pork slice i very like it. It don have very strong pork taste, and it is nicely cut. Not too thin, not too thick. For the soup wise, it is very clear soup, very home taste, not salty. Noodle texture is good, not too try, added with little vinegar in jt, bring a bit sour make it very flavoring

Was brought to Kim Joo to savor their traditional noodles, which was such a delight. This old-school shop has a charming nostalgic vibe. Tried, among our party of 4, their mixed pork soup, braised pork rice and tomato mee. Was impressed with the texture of their mee. Overall these 3 items were generally yummy especially the tomato mee which we will go back again for before we leave Kuching.

The vinegar noodles are delicious. The taste of vinegar is very mild. The pork soup are delicious. This is similar to Noodle Descendants at Jalan Padungan except that you don’t need to queue long here. The kedondong juice is refreshing. The space is very limited and warm, so avoid dressing warmly. Parking is limited at the area so you might find difficulty in getting a parking.

Old Rex Cucur Udang Cafe is a must-visit for those craving the delightful crunch of crispy cucur udang, also known as prawn fritters. These local delicacies are made with small prawns coated in batter and deep-fried to perfection. Served with a side of dipping sauce, they make for a satisfying snack or can be enjoyed alongside other dishes.
Finally made my way back here after more than 2 years — and it’s still as good as I remember! The prawn fritters are the real OG — crispy, flavourful, and perfect when dipped in the chili sauce with crushed peanuts. So addictive! Also had the shaved ice treats — went for the Milo Jagung and ABC. You get two for RM10, which is a good deal considering the generous amount of jagung and Milo powder in the MJ. Sweet, satisfying, and perfect for the weather. I also noticed the owner has set up a strong blower/portable aircon and fans to keep the place cool and comfy — really thoughtful touch for an indoor/outdoor setup! Definitely planning to bring my friends over soon. Gotta make sure everything’s still up to standard before introducing it to my friend visiting from KK. 😄

Old Rex Cucur Udang Café is definitely one of the best in town. Their signature prawn cracker is perfectly crispy, while the fishball has a nice chewy bite that makes it very enjoyable. A great spot for those who love traditional snacks done right.

Old Rex cucur udang always tasty and crispy, not oily. Besides that, this cafe also serves one of the best char kueh in Kuching. Their laksa is creamy and flavorful. Not forgetting the ABC too. This cafe is like the OG of yummy traditional snacks.

Yesterday Tuesday we came at 6pm but it is closed, somehow it stated open online . Today went around 3pm, finally. Cucur Udang is nice and crispy, paired with Laicikang and ABC.

When there to have breakfast and ordered mee jawa with chicken satay. Sad to say and honestly speaking, that mee jawa is beyond par. The mee jawa "kuah" or gravy is almost tasteless, doesn't taste like mee jawa. No condiments like shredded beef meat, fried onion and celery. Mee jawa is one of my favourite morning meal apart from nasi lemak biasa. And the chicken satay are sliced thin, as big as baby fingers, unlike any ordinary satay portion. That place will be my last breakfast pit stop.

Nestled within the vibrant Top Spot Food Court in Kuching, Ling Loong Seafood is a must-visit for seafood lovers. This lively eatery offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying meals with friends and family. The menu boasts an impressive selection of fresh seafood dishes, ranging from simple stir-fries to more intricate options like butter prawns and steamed fish.
Went here with my sister. Very satisfied with the oyster pancake offered. Amazing taste. Would be great if there are more oysters. Parking is easy to find. A bit crowded during dinner time though can still find a seat easily. Would be eager to try out other dishes next time. Price is reasonable.

Came on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year and it was packed as of 530pm. Probably due to it being the only shop open in Rooftop . Food is good despite the crowd, price is reasonable. Drinks are rather expensive but good (coconut water and kedondong drinks).
Ls C — Google review
Went on Friday evening, the place were crowded but don't have to wait for a table. Our orders were taken quite quickly and not too long the dishes arrived. Midin was good a local vegetable, fried oyster pancake was interesting with a few strategic oysters placed around in the batter and deep fried like a bowl. Salt n peppers prawns were fresh but can't be said for bamboo clam. Bamboo clams was overcooked and chewy. Steam fish was OK nothing special. Crabs were nicely cooked and flavours just nice. A once off experience, won't be going back to this place.
Su Y — Google review
Not really the shops fault but the place was pandemonium. So that's ambience out the window. We had a low headcount, so having to order with imposed minimum quantities hampered the variety. We ordered lobster plain grilled, butter prawns and salted egg squid. The lobster was okay. Nothing to shout about. Just okay. But I was quite disappointed by the squid and prawns. Both orders were quite sweet. Perhaps it's regional, but I couldn't get over how sweet instead of savoury the prawns and squid was.
Balee T — Google review
Ling Loong Seafood was recommended to us by our local host. And we were very happy with both meals that we enjoyed there. For our first meal we enjoyed: curry squid; baby kailan; and a luscious bowl of fish lips soup. Price: RM57 (CDN $17) For our second meal we had: outstanding black pepper crab (far better than the spicy crab we had in Singapore); steamed midin; and, an oyster omelette. Price: RM115 (CDN $35). Both meals were very good, and good value. We’ve read a number of reviews that disparage Ling Loong as a “tourist trap”. We run into this criticism now and again in our travels. As we understand it, the characteristics of a tourist trap are: prices higher than the market norm; serving mediocre food that is narrowly focused on what visitors think the local favourites should be before they arrive; and, service is generally superficially friendly, but never genuinely warm. Ling Loong is none of those things. The prices are on market, the food is very good: and the service was brisk but friendly. So, if that’s a tourist trap we’ll consider ourselves happily ensnared. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️🙂 Recommended.
Culinary S — Google review
Went there as it was highly recommended and walking distance from Pullman, where we stayed. It's ambience was nice and service good. But the food was only average. Oyster omelette is novel as it's crispy, goes well with beer but best eaten warm. midin is a local vegetable, nice and worth a try. Sambal pomfret tastes like what we can get in Singapore, nothing special. Prawns fresh but again, nothing to rave about. We did not return after the first night but went to BBQ King for 2 nights in a row after that.
Daniel S — Google review
Overall a decent place for Chinese cuisine. The tomato-sauced kueh tiaw was really tasty, if you like this can try the one here. Sambal sotong was okay, didn't taste really sambal-ish though. The dried chili clams and midin were both alright. We also ordered crabs, big portion with relatively more flesh than usual, but am not sure what flavor was the sauce, tasted like sweet sour, but we still prefer the good old taste most suitable for crabs

A must visit in the Kuching area for delicious fresh seafood prepared in traditional Chinese style. Some of the highlights of the restaurant include MASSIVE Tiger prawns either garlic/ginger sautéed/steamed or black pepper deep fried. Prices for the tiger prawns are a fraction of the cost than when we were in Kota Kinabalu and is a great deal! They also excel at cooking delicious lobster any way you please.

If you're on the hunt for an authentic culinary experience in Kuching, look no further than Woon Lam Cafe 1999. With a rich history spanning over 34 years, this beloved eatery is renowned for serving up some of the finest Kueh Chap around. The owner takes great pride in sourcing only the freshest ingredients, making daily trips to the market each morning to ensure quality.
A cafe (or coffee shop) that serves local delight. Staffs are friendly and atmosphere is good and easy to fins seats. Vedge Veggie serves a variety of vegetarian main dishes such as minced meat rice, nasi lemak, chicken rice, western burger, etc. A pity that i didnt get to try their kolo mee, which seems delicious 👍🏻 They also serves vegetarian char kueh and popiah in this coffee shop. Char kueh is of local flavour and the popiah serves with generous filling.
James A — Google review
Tried that three layer lo bak was quite salty. Just tasted average.
Yalun H — Google review
Came for breakfast. Ordered a popiah and fried cha kway. The popiah was average but it was cold. Realized that this is how people here sell and eat popiah. The fried cha kway is like fired carrot cake but it is not tasty as the kway is luke-warm and dark sauce is uneven spread.
Steven L — Google review
The Kuey chap broth is not that thick and tasteless and price for RM9 (Small) Not my favourite place for Kuey chap and portion too small. Popiah is good and the ingredients are thick. Western breakfast is acceptable too and price is much cheaper. But Char kueh is recommended as it taste good.
B L — Google review
An old coffee shop that has been operating for a number of years but not as what it was in its heydays as some of the stalls have changed hands. But still one of the better ones, where you will be able to find most of Kuching local food for breakfast.

👍🏻 1) Cha Kueh is truly out of this world 2) Friendly services at the Cha Kueh 3) Fast services 4) Kolo Mee also tasty, good services 👎🏻 5) beverage is below par 6) Prices for the beverage, is comparable to the small portion of food price 7) Warm, ideally to dine and leave ASAP

I would say most people come here for 2 extraordinary food. The vegetarian fried carrot cake and the kueh chap. Of course the cafe offers more varieties than the mentioned 2 popular dishes. I tried some of them they are good as well. The only draw back is the crowd, limited parking space.

Chong Chon Biscuit Maker is a renowned confectionary shop in Kuching, located just a short walk from Carpenter Street. The shop offers an array of traditional Chinese pastries such as curry puffs, egg tarts, and siew pau (roasted pork buns). Visitors rave about the delightful experience of biting into these freshly baked treats with their piping hot fillings and flaky exteriors.
Very nice curry puff and siew pau pastries. I arrived on a Saturday noon and they only had these 2 flavours left. Prices were on the higher side but it’s justified as the portions were large and each pastry was heavy and packed full of filling. Taste wise the siew pau is very different from the Seremban variety, and the curry puff is quite unique - the filling reminded me of the Japanese curry pan instead but with local spices. If you want the century pie you need to call them to reserve it. Either first thing in the morning for a noon+ collection, or on Saturday for collection on Sunday. Accepts cash only.

this was our family childhood favourite which was best in Kuching, but we had no longer ate their baked bun for a very long time, I recently came and buy their siew paw which the ingredients inside was totally different from the pass, the meat used now are mince pork which before was small little sliced of pork meat with darker juicy sweet sause in it, now the taste was terrible the recipe has just totally change.
TCS 8 — Google review
Chong Chon Biscuit in Kuching offers a unique experience with their yam pastry and siew pao handmade on the spot by a friendly, chatty old grandma. The size of their pastries is humongous compared to West Malaysian versions. While the taste is alright, I found the pastry skin thick and it’s also quite oily, which wasn't to my preference. Overall, it's worth a try for the authentic experience and generous portions.
M C — Google review
Yam puff but doesnt have yam taste(added meat and taste badly like doesnt fresh). Tried yam puff & siew pao not worth for this price. If you are looking for best siew pao and yam puff i would recommend opposite there(TONG KEE, taste good 100% so the price is reasonable)
Eric L — Google review
The best siew pau in town! I also personally love their curry puffs & yam puffs too ! Love their buttery pastry and fillings. You won’t want to miss it.
Jenny C — Google review
Not the same as West Malaysia's siew pau, this one is Kuching's traditional siew pau with over 90 years history.
Stanley H — Google review
Traditional Siew Pow from Kuching, Sarawak which is different from Seremban Siew Pow. The pork meat is white unlike the caramelized pork from West Malaysia. The meat is well marinated. Tasty with thin pastry. You can choose from original Siew Pow $5, Yam Siew Pow and Century Siew Pow (consist of minced meat, yam paste and century egg) $7. Loving the Century Siew Pow combination. Get to know this store from a local grab driver on the last day of visit. Wanted to get more to bring home but the store already closed at 4.55pm.

Bakery
Abee Traditional Buns is a nostalgic throwback to retro local bakeries, offering a variety of simple buns and pastries with traditional tastes. The shop's busy kitchen churns out different bun varieties every morning, attracting locals who patiently queue up for freshly baked breakfast treats. Customers praise the solid flavored, dense texture buns that are cheap and readily available. While some note a slight decline in quality if left overnight, recent updates indicate improvements in the fillings.
Bought garlic bread - need to toast. Just nice with coffee or mushrooms soup. Might too dry if eat without coffee or soup. The size is huge. Share two persons. Butter milk bun is good too.

Left image: taken in March 2024 Right inage: taken from October 2024 See how much difference the fillings are March 2024: Overall filling given us less compared to last time, ratio used to be more meat compared to now, this is the chasiu & chicken bun
Denise C — Google review
I was staying not too far from this place and I saw as recommendation from social media and decided to give it a try. When I was at the shop, I saw the bread and the sizes were almost double from typical bread, and the price was also almost the same as well! Bought a few to try, hoping there would be a traditional taste to them. To be honest, not really a fan of them, it doesn't suit my personal taste but its different for every individual. In general, the bread and the bun are quite thick and dense and dry, and there isn't much filling in them. Felt hard to swallow had to down it with a drink. The butter bun wasn't how I expected it to be, was hoping it to look more lava rather than being so dry. Same for the red bean bread as well. The one which might be more passable was the char siew soh. Taste of the meat was okay but the crust was quite hard as well. Sizes are big and prices are reasonable, too bad didn't go well with my palate. Definitely subjective for every individual, as can see from previous reviews that many actually liked it.
Matthew L — Google review
They are sells steamed bun and breads. Try the butter and garlic bread just like the other people recommend. The garlic size was quite big and tasted good. But for the butter it's average size and taste. At least the price was right and it's fresh baked.
Ian S — Google review
Love the overall old school vibes of the place. I got a butter bun and a coconut bun - but I wish the buns were a tad more fluffy. Coconut bun was better though with the light sweetness of the coconut!
Melmeleats — Google review
Like the more solid bun here, unlike those soft bun feel like eating air. Chicken & butter milk taste nice. Red bean paste taste super, more dense, not too sweet. The fillings are sufficient for those main focus is to eat nicer bread instead of the fillings.

My first time trying cha sio puff. It's out of this world. It's like curry puff but better. You could actually taste the meat in it. Make sure to come early. Perfect for breakfast or snack through out the day. But the place close just after lunch time. So stock up for afternoon tea time.

cute little restaurant and "art-cafe" with amazing food and very friendly staff. They have very good vegan and vegetarian options, which I loved. (They even had a very delicious vegan chocolate cake!). The food is fresh, healthy and authentic. I highly recommend visiting this place, during your time in Kuching. They also sell some local arts and crafts there and they also have a very nice homemade sambal you can buy, to take with you.

Came across this "hidden gem" when walking at carpenter and gave it a try. Definitely worth it, the place is chill and the food is giving the "homemade" vibe. Flavour is there, seasoned well and good portion. The price is okay maybe around RM30 per per person with drinks. The environment is great, is chill, quiet and tons of arts which i love. But bare in mind they close kinda early. But overall great food and experience there.

I’ve always enjoyed this place and have ordered the cold soba many times. However, this visit (around 2pm today) was really disappointing. I ordered the ubilicious Tempe and cold soba, which used to be my favorite. Sadly, the portion of ubilicious tempe has become noticeably smaller. The worst part — the soba noodles were overly soft and soggy, almost as if they had been sitting in water too long. I couldn’t eat it at all. I gave feedback and was told it was a kitchen mistake, and they offered to remake it. After a long wait, the second bowl came… and it had the exact same issue. Again I gave feedback, and again was told it was a kitchen problem. No resolution was offered besides another apology. Honestly, it ruined my mood for the day. Really hope they improve consistency and kitchen quality, because this used to be a go-to spot for me

My friend and I came here for lunch and got the high protein and low carb vegan sharing dish. Local dishes but with a healthy style. It was absolutely incredible. The food was so delicious. The food was high quality. The staff were so friendly. It was a great place to chill and enjoy for a few hours. We really enjoyed it. They had many food and drink options. There are meat options if one wants vegan and other is a meat eater.
Jarryd N — Google review
This café is run by several ladies as a cooperative, serving healthy, traditional food, while showcasing and selling local artwork. Cooking classes are also offered. The café is fairly small with limited outdoor seating, and half a dozen or so tables in the rear. The modest chairs and tables are clean and add to the charm of the place. When we ate here, we were pleased to see a group of 8 locals enjoying a hearty meal. The menu offers individual plates, or combinations, and caters for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans. We ordered the beef rendang sharing platter and the chicken masak mereh. Both the beef and the chicken were delicious, made even better by authentic home-made sauces. One small negative observation would be the extensive use of microwave ovens to reheat the food. I totally understand that some of these dishes can take hours to prepare and so they need to be reheated prior to serving. In the case of the chicken, though, this led to a number of both hot and cold spots in the meat itself. Reheating gently in a pot instead would likely achieve a more even heat distribution. Other than this, we thoroughly enjoyed the rich, authentic flavours of the food. The overall price of the meal was very modest too and our hosts were really pleasant too.

I tried their minced meat rice and chicken dumplings, and both dishes delivered a pleasant, well-balanced flavor that felt natural and authentic. The minced meat rice stood out with its tender, juicy meat perfectly seasoned to complement the fluffy rice without being overly salty or greasy—just the right balance for a comforting, satisfying meal. The chicken dumplings were equally delightful, with a smooth, delicate skin encasing a juicy, flavorful filling. The accompanying wine ginger vinegar was aromatic and enhanced the dumplings beautifully, adding a fragrant tanginess that elevated the dish to another level. Together, these dishes offer a simple yet refined dining experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Food was outstanding. Great veggie meat substitute meals. Tasty and freshly cooked. Staff were friendly. Veggie Chicken curry was full of flavour as was the crispy chicken pepper. Mushroom started sticks beautiful and the leaves cooked in garlic excellent. Only issue was having to wait for the rice several minutes, very strange... Otherwise highly recommended..👌
Paul A — Google review
I ate here two times, during my stay in Kuching, because i really appreciated their nice selection of vegan and vegetarian food and because the atmosphere of the restaurant is very good. The food is tasty, although a bit on the pricy side. I was very disappointed however, that when I asked the staff multiple times if the mushroom and carrot dim sum are vegan/vegetarian and they told me yes it is, even tho it clearly wasn't. I only realized it when I had already ordered and taken a bite of it, since I trusted them telling me the truth and there's also some very good mock meat options at this place. Maybe they just didn't understand what I was asking them, but if they don't understand they should just say that and not just say, "yes it's vegan/vegetarian". Bad service in this regard, in my opinion. I also disliked that they serve their drinks in single use cups, since they produce a lot of unnecessary waste like this and it also doesn't fit the otherwise very nice and "classy" atmosphere of the restaurant.

KANTIN at The Granary is situated in a historic building, once possibly a warehouse for grains and other goods. It's located near the Marian Boutique Hotel and offers modern Sarawak cuisine. Popular dishes include Rainforest Fried Rice, Nanasi, and Superdry Laksa. The restaurant also serves unique beverages like Kantin Kaffeine and Sarawak Teh C Special. A must-try is the chicken satays grilled with gula apong (palm sugar).
The ambience is lovely and relaxing, and I really appreciate the industrial fans that keep the place cool and breezy even without air-conditioning. I had the rainforest fried rice! It was very flavorful and delicious, their fried cauliflower was super crispy! The honey BBQ wings were just as good, tender, tasty, and perfectly glazed. The space itself is beautiful and relaxing, making it a great spot to unwind over good food. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

The environment is superb. The fried rice with local flavor is delicious. Must try for first timer. Drink perhaps I would recommend a half pint of local beer 1664. Pricing is on high side but I think reasonable with the location located at the center of the city and it's nice ambient environment. I would recommend their pizza for their local taste which can't be found elsewhere.

Tried out this restaurant because of the hype and ordered quite a spread, Jungle Pasta (RM32), Kambing Asap / Smoked Lamb (RM28), Headhunter Pansuh Set (RM42), Kacangma Alfredo Pasta (RM28), Chargrilled Pineapple Burger (RM35), Hawaiian Dayak Pizza (RM36), Cream of Mushroom (RM15), plus assorted drinks. The food is very much Western-fusion with local touches. Everything was decent, but honestly nothing really stood out flavour-wise. The Jungle Pasta and Kacangma Alfredo Pasta were unique in concept but tasted fairly ordinary. The smoked lamb had good aroma, though a bit on the small side. The pansuh set was interesting but didn’t quite deliver the depth I expected. The burger and pizza leaned more on the Western side, enjoyable but nothing particularly memorable. The cream of mushroom was smooth and comforting but again, standard. That said, the ambience is lovely, cosy, modern, and a nice place to chill with friends or family. The catch? The bill came up close to RM350 for the lot, which felt rather overpriced for what you get. Overall, it’s not spectacular for me personally, but still a place I’d say is worth trying at least once, you might appreciate the flavours more than I did. I did ask about their popular Sponge Cake Prank dessert, but the staff mentioned it’s seasonal and not available at the moment, so maybe that’s something worth coming back for another time.

We heard a lot about this place from a variety of different people. So we had to come. We made a booking via WhatsApp just in case. Do note the lunch and dinner menu is slightly different with more western fusion served during the evening. We had the headhunter pansuh set which came with Ayam pansuh, purple rice, umai jellyfish, sambal paku and pusu bawang. Quite interesting and something to try as it is native to sarawak. We also had the rainforest fried rice and this too was very nice. Very happy that water (ice/warm/hot) is served for free. I couldn’t resist getting 3 different tuak shots and they were delicious. I tried the Sarawak pepper, pandan leaf and lemongrass. My favourite was the lemongrass and I had to buy a bottle home. The ambience in this place was also so lovely. Would highly recommend it.

We had our team lunch at Kantin today. The tastes are unique and delicious. Just that the environment is a bit hot during noon even fans and coolers are running. Luckily the roof is extremely high that makes air ventilation much better, but still a bit warm. Personally, the price is considered slightly higher for similar type of food outside, but they are delicious to my taste. I will visit to try other dishes on the menu.

Cool place, Taste wise it was okay. My mom tried the nasi kerabu and she said it was just okay. I had the nasi pineapple which tasted good, but the portion was too small for the RM25 price. I can easily find bigger portions elsewhere for less and it was really hot inside with no air conditioning, so I don’t get why the price is so high.
Solinski S — Google review
The food here was great! I especially loved the grilled lamb, you’ve got to eat it while it’s still sizzling. The rainforest fried rice was also yummy, and we had the vegetarian version. The superdry laksa, though, was just okay. I wasn’t sure about trying the Dusun set because it looked like it would be too much for an adult and a kid. Price was on the higher end.

On my quest to sample as many sarawak Laksa as possible I cam here for lunch to try the superdry Laksa. Very different, but I can see that it is inspired by the classic Laksa flavour just without the soup. Very tasty and a little spicy in a good way. Price is a little more, Rm24, but you do get a portion of fried chicken included in the dish and a loverly modern ambience. Do recommend

Song Kheng Hai Hawker Centre, also known as a foodie paradise in Kuching, offers a variety of iconic Sarawak delicacies all in one place. One of the must-try treats is the kompia, also called the Foochow burger or bagel. This dish features crusty baked buns with a fluffy texture and can be filled with savory minced pork or other varieties offered by different vendors.
Support local and eat here. No longer Q and food is good and value for money. I saw this place from my hotel window but not sure if is a small football field or hawker food and end up is both. I order alot of food and all tasted great 👍
Ming L — Google review
This market starts quite late in the morning, it meant more for lunch and tea time crowd. Sadly the flavours have deteriorated over time. Gong pia was nice, but the filling is so average. Belachan noodles are so so. Kang kung cuttlefish is also very bland. Crispy oyster pancake flour is nice and crispy, but no flavour. Rojak was way too sweet, hardly any shrimp flavour.
Gary O — Google review
The best nasi campur ever from stall no 15 🩷 my first visit, the chef recommend me this menu, i hesitated at first, but then gave it a try. First bite felt like heaven, haha. Seriously the 'red chicken + the kuah is really tasty! Must try 🙌
Elvira L — Google review
Went to Song Kheng Hai Hawker Centre for a tea break and had the cha kueh with coconut juice. The cha kueh was okay, fried with eggs and had a decent taste, though nothing too outstanding. The coconut juice, however was a bit watered down and not as refreshing as I expected. Overall, just an average stop for a light bite.

A very affordable local food court with many delicious choices, ranging from drinks, snacks, dishes, and desserts. Personal favourite was stall 亞英! (you can even watch rugby races there!)

Song Kheng Hai Hawker Centre is a must visit for authentic Sarawak cuisine. The variety is impressive, with many local favourites. Their famous kong pian - crispy and flavorful. I also like the balacang bee hoon.

We tried this much raved Kompia at Rihga! Was good! Will definitely come back. The bread has a chewy pastry like a bagel . The filling was slightly sweet but I loved it.

A variety of local delicacies, food are great! If you are looking for Sibu’s Gong Pia at Kuching, you can try out stall 7 - Rihga. It’s nice and the stall is run by a young husband and wife. For lunch, do check out stall 15 Midah Food where the uncle is really friendly and nice! The curry rice is superb and there are lots of options to choose from. On the contrary, a very rude boss at Stall 1 Mao Zhong Drink Stall. First time here and he was already instructing for table number in a very demeaning manner. Rather go to the other stall to buy.

Excellent service. Friendly staff. Had fish and chips and chips and curry. All the food was excellent. Fresh, hot, great flavours. Faultless. Good size and reasonably priced. Highly recommended..👌

Came here with the family for dinner while we were vacationing in Sarawak. The food is just okay and the drinks were considered above average. We ordered a variety of dishes and nothing really struck as spectacular. Price per dish is usually RM30 thereabouts. Steaks were double the price. Frankly, we came here because my brother's kids liked the place as there was a hanging mezzanine place where they could play and have fun. I had to make several rounds to get an available parking lot. The only observation I could make is, a lot of foreigners came here for the drinks.
Nicholas ( — Google review
Chill atmosphere n friendly staff. Price is decent. I tried the White Russian cocktail n it tastes different than the one I had at another bar. It tastes chocolatey. The burger portion is just enough, but would be better if served with some pickled cucumbers.

Came here for lunch and tried the burgers. They were quite good, juicy and flavorful. The portion was satisfying, and the price was decent at around RM30+. Overall, a nice spot for a casual meal if you’re craving a good burger.

Haven't been in Kuching (and catching up with friends) for a long time. Originally pinned this place on my map because Greg was posting about it. Ended up absolutely loving the place. We're all older and have much lower tolerant for a noisy pub, this place is absolutely fabulous. Foodie wife loved the food.

Walking by just before lunch time and saw the sign for "fish & chips", love a good fish and chips and I was in need of a Western food fix so in I went. Was not disappointed Chips where perfect, crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside and not oily. Fish was some unknown battered white fisb, again perfectly cooked. The only negative was the mint sauce served on the side which did not pair with either the fish or the chips. A classic tartar sauce would have been much better but this fault was not grounds to reduce the score. Do recommend
Jo B — Google review
I didn’t manage to take many photos during my visit as my phone battery was low, but I’d still like to share my experience. This cafe may be small, but it’s cozy and comfortable — perfect for a casual hangout with friends. The staff, especially the waitress, were very friendly and helpful, which made the visit even more pleasant. The menu focuses solely on Western food, so don’t expect local dishes like rice or noodles. It seems to cater more to tourists, and they do serve alcoholic beverages. I ordered the fish and chips, which were decent, although the food did take a bit of time to arrive — but still within an acceptable waiting period. One small letdown was the juice, which wasn’t freshly squeezed. Also, the food choices are quite limited, so if you're looking for variety, this might not be the place. All in all, it’s a nice spot to chill and chat, especially if you’re after a laid-back atmosphere and Western-style meals.

The venue features a fusion restaurant at the front and a large backroom bar with live music or a DJ every night. While some find the food and drinks to be slightly expensive, others appreciate the fresh juices and friendly staff.
We had a wonderful time here. The location is convenient and easy to find. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming. Food: Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend the fried lamb, tomato kuey teow ! Service: Staff were attentive and polite. They made great recommendations and ensured we were comfortable throughout. Cleanliness: The restaurant was spotless, including the restrooms. Value: Fair pricing for the portion size and quality. Definitely worth it. Would absolutely return and recommend to anyone looking for great food in kuching town area! Relax and live band even comedian talk show.

The foods and drinks are okay. A little bit expensive but its not that bad. The designs and surrounding is quite interesting. But some words on the walls are inappropriate. The staff are friendly and politely. The food came couples minutes after you ordered. They are fast😍 Juices are so fresh that made me fell in love with it 😭😭 I just hope they dont change their songs too often like 3 times in one minute. Lok-Lok is a popular cafe in Kuching city known for its diverse and high-quality skewers, particularly the lok lok and nasi lemak. In addition to these favorites, the cafe offers other dishes like Chee Cheong Fun, curry mee, and braised beef noodles at reasonable prices. Customers appreciate the variety of payment methods accepted and the efficient service provided. Reviews highlight the delicious Nasi Lemak served with Ayam Rendang and spicy chili that enhances the dish.
Top notch service from the staff who is sporting and friendly. A nice place to lepak. Laksa however finishes fast but the lok lok sticks are usually available until they close. There are indoor and outdoor seats.

The late night supper food establishment of Kuching. Characterized by its extended roadside alfresco dining crowd and erratic roadside car parking at the roundabout. Over the years it has maintained its food quality and following, to the point of extending and extending adjoining shop lots. The vibe is very lively and happening in the evenings, catering to the late night crowds. One is spoiled for choice when selecting one's own choice of lok lok and request for deep frying or boiling. There are other selections of food available here, and particularly good is the chee chiong fun, nasi lemak, laksa, ayam penyet and beef noodles. The staff are efficient and polite, even though they are busy attending to the crowd. Opens only in the evening till late at night, one can come earlier to have better chances of getting a car park space.

This is the most famous Lok Lok shop in Kuching, operating for many years and still going strong. It’s a popular spot among locals. They offer a wide variety of Lok Lok items, from seafood to meats and vegetables. You can choose to have them fried or steamed, depending on your preference. Everything is freshly prepared, and the sauces provided really complement the food well. A great place to hang out with friends or family for a casual and satisfying meal.

Lok Lok Restaurant offers an impressive variety of lok lok choices, catering to different tastes with both classic and unique skewers. The environment is perfect for a relaxed night out—casual, clean, and ideal for chilling with friends. One of the standout aspects is their quick service; food is prepared and served promptly without compromising on quality. A great spot for lok lok lovers looking for a lively yet laid-back dining experience.
Guinevere E — Google review
This place is a solid choice for late-night eats. For those not familiar with lok-lok - the setup is simple: find a table and take note of your table number, order your drink, then head over to the uncooked food kiosk. Grab a plate and choose whatever catches your eye - most of the selection includes frozen items like hotdogs, fish balls/cakes and meatballs, but there are also fresh greens, yong-tau-foo, fried meats, and seafood skewers available. Once you’ve filled your plate, hand it to the staff and let them know whether you’d like your food deep-fried or boiled. They’ll cook it and deliver it to your table, along with a sweet and chilli dipping sauce. After that, you just pay for your food and drink. The kiosk area can get pretty crowded, especially with people awkwardly trying to open the kiosk's sliding door from both sides at once - honestly, not sure why it even needs doors! The space is also a bit cramped. Parking can be a challenge with many prople parked their cars by the roadside. Still, with tables set up along the pavement, it’s usually easy to find a seat. There are a few cooked food stations as well—we noticed people enjoying BBQ chicken wings. Prices are fair; my plate (as pictured) came to RM22. Just be mindful - it’s easy to take more than you think! Nothing much to talk about the food because it is just simply boiled / fried. One thing to note, my lady fingers were perfectly cooked. Despite the crowd, service was quick and the staff were friendly. We’d definitely come back when we’re in the area and looking for a satisfying late-night meal.

They are showing the demonstration of making kek lapis. Kek lapis taste great. The layers are thinner and lagi banyak as compared to other kek lapis that we tried somewhere else. We think the craftsmanship is a part of the value been sold. The premium ones cost around RM30. You can try samples of kek lapis before buying. Got some others kerepek, kuih & rencah pastes to buy. Buy 10 kek lapis got 1 for free & free boxes packaging. We shared & combined our purchases to enjoy the free gift 😂Overall a nice experience for us from semenanjung.

It can be super crowded at time especially when the tour group come in. Long queue for payment. However plenty of free parking. They sell variety of layer cake and a demonstration area as well. You can also try different type of cake. The taste of the premium and normal really vary a lot. So far, the premium lumut chess (RM30) was definitely superb good, with rich taste of butter and cheese in it. The best Lumut cheese kek lapis I have try in Sarawak. It's a bit pricy however the they used good quality of butter for the premium cake, so it's really worth to try!

Quite a open space area away from the buzzing places. We're lucky to be there with no tourist bus. Many samples to try and honestly quite difficult to decide which flavour. End up we bought 6 boxes and my relatives bought 13 boxes. If you love eating kueh lapis, this is the right place to purchase not anywhere else in Sarawak. We bought the non premium and cost RM15 per box.

We have been waiting for the staff to prepare premium one because they seems good but the staff refilled the cheaper price food sample first instead of premium Suggest that if you want customer to purchase higher price and increase your average order value, you should start to let people to taste your premium first and ensure that premium food sample are not out of stocks.

If you're a fan of Sarawak laksa, then King Laksa Sarawak at ICOM Square is the place to be. Their steaming hot bowls of creamy, tangy, and savory broth are truly unbeatable, with a hint of seafood goodness. You can try their Laksa Udang Besar for massive fresh prawns on top or their Laksa Ambal Special for bamboo clams and shrimp.
Good Food. Especially Recommend the Laksa Sarawak Ambal if you don't want any prawns. Its so good! The Mee Kolo Daging is good too! I arrived a bit late and the sup special is finished but the Mee Kolo Biasa is good! Recommended and will definitely come again next time I'm in Kuching!

The food here downgraded quite a lot. The rice was too mushy. The seasoning were not that good. I didn’t taste like a quality you would get from a restaurant like this with the price they offer. I don’t know what happened but I wouldn’t recommend getting lunch here if they don’t improve.

KING LAKSA BUT THE LAKSA TASTES BELOW AVERAGE???!?!! I was craving laksa and had to choose between BCCK and King Laksa, so lets give King Laksa a chance but this time I was disappointed. I’ve been here several times and the laksa was good during my last visits. Out of prawn, so I asked them to put extra ambal and that was ok. The kuah tasted salty (rasa macam kuah paling debah dalam periok) presentation hmm meh my main point is, the inconsistency in the taste. The kolok on the other hand was okay, service pun okay, laksa jak sik okay nangis lok 😿

Was scam by the cashier. Bought 10 of layer cakes on 3/6/25 at around 5pm. 9 for the price of RM 12 and 1 RM15 However she said I have taken premium cake so all the price suppose was RM123 but she charged me RM136. At 1st never realised that I have overpaid thought because of packaging she charged extra. When my cousin checked , no charged actually for the packaging (after I have paid). Then she said I have taken Premium cakes. Since it has been packed in the box, I have no chance to check again my cakes. When calculated back home, seem it was not right. Then we checked the video that my cousin taken each of the layer cakes and price and confirmed that none of it was a premium. Nevermind, will not buy at this scamming shop. My daughter cake watery don't know why compared to Warisan cakes that was given free by Tourism Kuching far more better quality.

One of the busiest layer cake house in Kuching, it offers wide array of flavoured cakes. As the house is constantly busy with visitors, chances that you get old cakes are slim as they always restock the cakes due to high sales volume. Numerous flavors are available for purchase starting at RM10.60 per piece. The bigger the cake, the more it will cost you. The best part is that you can take a small boat crossing the river from the waterfront to reach the house.

Nice restaurant in general. Food is good. Portions are ok. Staff is helpful and atmosphere is quiet. Still the place is a bit pricey: Drinks around RM6-10 and dishes around RM20. We had a good chat with the owner. It’s more an Indian restaurant that a restaurant for Indian people. (We missed banana leaf rice, thosai, murtabak, but that’s not fault of the restaurant)

I went there aft reading good reviews of this restaurant! When we went there, we saw the restaurant was empty, since its almost going to be 5 we asked the cashier if its still open or going to be close. He told us its open so we went in. The first impression was gone when he jz came and throw the menu card on the table and left. 2ndly, we ordered this tandoori chicken briyani which was abit costly, when it came the rice was cold, the chicken was hidden with the little bit of rice on the top of it, we can be sure that it was microwaved! Either raita nor boiled egg was included with the briyani! It was Tasteless! We felt its not worth for that price!! 3rdly, the mango lassi that we ordered its jz 90% of it is jz yogurt, they put a big portion of ice in the glass where a small sip of the juice finish the entire thing! It wasnt thick!! They added water! The cashier was rushing us to pay since he had prepared the bill! Overall, we wasnt feel happy for the amount we paid as the food wasnt up to the standard! Im sure the other indian restaurants in kuching serves 100% better then this shop and its cheaper and u will feel welcomed!!

Impeccable service. Our family has been coming here for years and not once have we been let down by the service. The quality of the food is always good! You can definitely tell the difference. I would say it’s the best Indian restaurant in Malaysia! I’ve tried a couple of overhyped & waaaay overpriced Indian restaurants in KL and none rival this, the quality of the dishes in Lyn’s speak for themselves. Just wish this place has more publicity! It’s a shame that the restaurant is always half empty whenever we dine in there. This is the go-to place for good honest quality Indian food. Definitely deserve way more fame!

Ordered lamb briyani... Worth RM30.. Got a what I believe to be a dried up mutton piece with only tendons left..hidden in ghee rice.. And a bit of sweetened curry.. The place looks sadly run down ie all the light fittings, furniture and toilet dusty n damp smelling. To the Lyn Tandoori team, maybe u were good a long time ago.. But definitely not now.. Time to open your eyes and carry out spring cleaning. You strongly replied to many customers complaint and etc but have yet to do to almost most of the complaint.. I got the feeling I got robbed I terms of price and place. And definitely work on your menu.. I don't know how one can cook freshly with that many items on the menu like you proclaimed many comments ago. It doesn't make sense you have all that done daily.. Not cost effective thus I think mostly are reheated. Please2 improve.. Wasted my time coming here.

The food was good but not that great. But I can understand that you can't always compare the taste with the Indian food from India. The range of menu is quite wide. Probably, they can improve on the taste. Pricewise, I won't rate very expensive as others have commented. Atleast there's an Indian restaurant in Kuching for hardcore Indian food lovers. And there aren't any much choices for travellers staying around. Overall rating, Good 👍

When exploring the culinary landscape of Kuching, one cannot overlook Poh Lam Laksa at Chong Choon Cafe, a true gem for lovers of Sarawak Laksa. Nestled in a cozy corner of this bustling coffee shop, this stall may be easy to miss but is certainly worth seeking out. Unlike its counterparts from Singapore and Penang, Sarawak Laksa here boasts a unique flavor profile reminiscent of prawn mee soup.
Have tried several Laksa places in Kuching on this trip, I think this is the best... So far. Price is very reasonable, RM10 for a large although large is not really that big. The prawns are fresh and peeled and the soup is delish. Do recommend.

Food: 5/5 Ambience: 3/5 Service: 3/5 This is perhaps the golden standard for Sarawak Laksa, the Kuching version. Even without additonal whistles and bells, in the absence of fancy ingredients or an attractive venue, this laksa stall shows up consistently as one of the top laksa in town. My usual place for a laksa fix when in town. The laksa broth is rich, prepared from a strong prawn stock, spicy laksa paste, perfectly balanced with the natural sweetness of coconut milk. It is served in small bowls with minimal standard toppings, as authentic as it can be. I usually have a bowl of kolo mee to accompany my Sarawak laksa whenever I can, enjoying the best of both worlds. #foodphotography #foodhunter #foodie #foodreview #foodblog #foodblogger #foodreview #foodiegram #foodies #delicious #deliciousfood #goodfood #singaporefoodie #malaysiafood #kuching #kuchingfood #sarawakcuisine #sarawaklaksa #laksa #pohlumlaksa Check out my food reviews on my Instagram page for more! If you're visiting Kuching and haven't tried Sarawak laksa, you're missing a vital part of the city's culinary soul. And when it comes to finding one of the best bowls in town, Poh Lam Laksa at Jalan Abell should be right among the tops of your list. This local institution is no hidden gem — the secret's long out. When we arrived, the entire kopitiam was packed to the brim, with a snakelike queue weaving its way out the door. Despite the 20-minute wait, the moment we were seated, service was lightning fast. Our bowls arrived steaming in no time, and every second spent queuing melted away with the first spoonful. The laksa itself? A masterclass in balance. The broth is mildly spicy with just the right touch of heat, allowing the complexity of the spice blend to take center stage. Creamy yet feather-light, the coconut milk adds body without overwhelming the senses — a comforting warmth without heaviness. What really makes it shine is the depth of umami. The prawn-based stock, likely enriched with dried shrimp, delivers a bold savoury punch, while a gentle squeeze of lime cuts through with a refreshing tang that keeps each mouthful lively. Topped with shredded chicken, fresh prawns, soft omelette strips, bean sprouts, and herbs, it's a textural and flavourful symphony that lingers in the memory long after the last slurp. Rightly recommended ‘

Poh Lam Laksa is my go-to spot for a Sarawak Laksa fix whenever I visit Borneo, specifically Kuching in the prosperous state of Sarawak Maju Makmur. The stall is nestled among many others inside Chong Choon Café, which was previously located across Abell Street back in the 90s until around mid-2015. This is one of the few stalls that still serves an authentic Sarawak Laksa, with shrimp shells perfectly simmered in the laksa paste to impart a deep, savory aroma of shrimp balanced with the creamy sweetness of coconut milk. The resulting broth evokes a sense of warmth and comfort, making it irresistible and mouthwatering from a hundred meters away. A small bowl of Sarawak Laksa is served with rice vermicelli, generously topped with peeled boiled prawns, omelette strips, bean sprouts, chicken slices, and a sprinkle of chopped coriander leaves. Kudos to the stall owner for consistently preserving the original flavors since I first tasted them in 2011. On that note, the stall owner of deserves a solid 5 out of 5. One of the most famous Sarawak Laksa stalls in Kuching. Locals will tell you about which other places they prefer, but they come here and queue for this anyway. Absolutely delicious and my favourite form of laksa over the Singaporean and Penang ones.
Ryan H — Google review
Must try when you are in Kuching. Small bowl is RM 8, big bowl is RM 10. Close at 11.45am and every Tuesday.
Iwan S — Google review
I would say over-rated as one of the best don't quite get the hype. 3 small prawns, few small pieces of shredded chicken and some beansprouts, no eggs for RM10 (Sept 2023). Mild broth not too salty and small portion. Go elsewhere if it's packed and need to line up, definitely not worth the wait. If this is your first time eating Sarawak laksa as a tourist then you would think it's really good. But honestly go to any other shops/foodcourt they all taste the same, and probably cheaper with more ingredients. Not to mention they give you less than half teaspoon of sambal to go with you laksa!

When exploring the culinary delights of Sarawak, one cannot overlook the iconic Tomato Mee Kampung Stampin Baru. This dish is a delightful twist on a Cantonese classic, featuring crispy pre-fried noodles topped with a rich tomato sauce that makes it an irresistible comfort food for locals and visitors alike. Often referred to as "mee dawai" or wire noodles due to its unique presentation, this dish combines crispy noodles with egg gravy and an assortment of seafood and shredded chicken.
Ordered the Tomato Crispy Mee with Wantan and also tried the Tomato Wantan and both were satisfying. The portion & price is reasonable. The tomato flavour is well-balanced, not too sweet or sour, just nice. The crispy noodles stayed crunchy for a while even with the gravy poured over, and the wantan was tasty and fresh. There are plenty of seats available and ample parking, which is always a plus. The waiting time however was a bit long, likely due to the high number of orders, but the service was excellent~ friendly and efficient staff. They also accept QR pay, which adds convenience. The only downside is the limited drink selection, but the food definitely makes up for it. Recommended if you're craving a good plate of Sarawak-style tomato mee.

One of my favourite hometown foods would be crispy noodles and crispy fried wontons. The best time to come for dine in probably around 630pm-8pm is not too crowded and you may parking front of their house or opposite shoplot parking 🅿️. There’s no menu shown here but you may check it out yourself for the foods that on other customers table. Is extremely hot here without any fan provided for dine in, you can bring your own portable fan if you do have kids together.

The tomato mee and kolo mee are the favorites here at this residential house converted to an eatery. Popular among the neighbourhood families for dinner and you may need to wait for an hour during weekends. They have good fried kuey tiaw with aromatic wok hei too. The house is located below the flight path of planes landing and taking off from the nearby airport. Also, there is no washroom for customers.

Homey (literally) kopitiam at a big corner house with classic Sarawakian dishes. Crispy tomato mee and kolo mee are among their top dishes, but they also have other noodles and fried wonton. The drinks are canned or packed (fruit juice) as they don’t brew fresh drinks.

The food yeah I get it its nice but the customer service super bad. I waited for a whole 1hr and 30min for 3 pack of noodles for takeaway🙄 They priorities all those people who order more even when they came late than me. Keep asking me to wait even when they knew i came first. Really bad service.

When visiting Kuching, be sure to sample the renowned Shirley Traditional Kolo Mee along with other local favorites like Sarawak Laksa and Daun Ubi Goreng. Located near Harbour View Hotel, this food stand offers a variety of Kolo Mee options, including a version with rice noodles. The establishment also serves traditional Asian pulled coffee, although it may be too sweet for some palates. Operating hours are from early morning until around 2:00 PM.
Still opening after 1pm, the kolo mee tasted alright. You can refill the chilli + vinegar if you wanted more. It is not crowded and the environment is peaceful.

Ah lek kueh chap is a delightful Teochew dish that translates to "cake and gravy," offering a comforting experience for those who indulge in it. This hearty meal features flat rice noodles, slightly larger than kueh teow, generously coated in a rich pork stew brimming with various cuts of meat and innards.
The kueh chap served was good. They give quite alot of the kuehs even though I order a small portion. Boss and lady boss was super kind and fast on their service. I went there at 12pm, by then the stall area was not very crowded. Around the stall was also installed some sort of air-conditioning. So the atmosphere was very cool and not hot. Can definitely give this boss kueh chap a try.
Sebastian S — Google review
I came from Singapore to visit a friend here and he introduced me to Ah Lek. Was surprised to find such nice kway chap that's suits my taste buds - the innards and offing all nicely braised. And they even use the broad rice noodles and not the small kway teow used elsewhere in Malaysia. Owner and his wife are very friendly and nice, who chatted in Teochew. Had a great start to the morning

Local stall in an alley between shops. With huge fans blowing, it is not hot at all. Value for money… the best in Kuching.

Come and check it out yourself. A great kueh chap to start your morning. Great coffee and tea too. Ample parking.
St G — Google review
One word, Yum! If you like Kueh Chap that is. Kueh Chap BTW is a popular dish in Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly in Malaysia and Singapore. It is a flavorful and hearty dish that typically consists of several components: Kueh, a flat rice noodle and Chap, various pork parts including pork belly, pork offal, intestines etc. All swimming in an aromatic soup. The sign of a good Kueh Chap is when all proteins literally fall apart in your mouth. Ah Lek's delivers in this respect. It's a little hard to find as it sits in one of the alleys off Padungan in Kuching, and it's not always open. But if you do find, make a point of getting youself a bowl. It's worth it!

Sarawak Private Trips & Cooking Class @ Indah House is a charming cafe in Kuching that offers a unique experience for art lovers and food enthusiasts. The cafe not only serves authentic Sarawak dishes like laksa and mee kolok but also provides cooking classes to learn the secrets of Sarawakian cuisine. Visitors can enjoy the artistic ambiance with local silk paintings and handmade jewelry available for purchase.
It was a few days at the end of a business trip to sight-see and having Lucian around made that short stay really worthwhile. He was very good at listening to our wishes and gave good advice on the feasibility of our requests - e.g. the likelihood of seeing the Orangutans if it was raining (as it did a lot on our days); on other opportunities to enjoy - visiting a Longhouse, taking a cooking course - and he was really patient and guided by wanting to see we would enjoy the experience. The cookery course was with Indah house and we were lucky that places were available last minute. It was great fun meeting the other participants and the chef, chopping and sauteing away together - maybe beer was needed in that warm kitchen - 😉. The cafe itself is a lovely place - small but with a strong sense of community, wanting to promote artists in the area as well as the sights. They sell art created by local artists - pictures, paintings, trinkets, postcards etc, and the staff are very warm and friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Kuching. We were very happy with Lucian's professionalism and his kindness and friendliness. There were other things we weren't able to do - visit the National Park, see the frogs - but I'd be very happy to head back and he'd be first on my list of people to contact when there. Thank you
Richard G — Google review
Lovely people running a lovely cooking class! Were able to cater to vegetarian and non-vegetarian at the same time. Fun market tour learning about all the local produce, then on to the kitchen to make four, and watch a fifth, very flavourful Sarawak dishes. There was great aircon and fans to keep the heat down while cooking, and a cute bookshop and art gallery attached to have a look through after the class. One person in our class had the foresight to bring an extra person to help them eat the banquet prepared. So much food, was a shame to waste all the rest we couldn’t eat. Definitely bring a hungry companion or a container to take your leftover efforts away in!

Excellent tour of Sarawak cultural village. Our guide, Lucian, was both knowledgeable and polite. We had a lovely day, with lots of insight to native culture. The show at the end was fantastic - thoroughly recommend! Had a great day overall!

Lucian picked us up from the hotel and took to the park, he answered all the questions with perfect English, knew al about the culture, frogs, orangutans, Sarawak, history. It was raining 3 times and didn't bother us because of the frogs we saw. He written down all the species names and it was more than 50 frogs we saw. He even knew the sex and age of frogs, but was looking for insects, spiders, lizards and mammals also. We saw the leopard cat!!!!! Seeing how happy he was you can truly see how much this hobby/ job means for him

We felt lucky to be with Lucian for our day at Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary. He is very knowledgeable about the plants and animals of Borneo, as well as the culture. He helpfully communicated ahead of time all the things we should bring to the park via Whatsapp. He took the time to show us around the park, including a nature trail and museum display. He went above and beyond to make our day great!

Great day trip with Lucian. He picked us up from our hotel and first took us to Semenggoh park for the morning feeding. We where we were lucky to spot two orang utan! Then off to Annah Rais long house for a guided tour and a home cooked lunch on site (checked with us for diet restrictions, nice touch!). We finished the visit of the long house with a private masterclass by musician Arthur Borman - a true passionate that carries on the legacy of Pratuokng, a beautiful bidayuh instrument! Super happy with this day trip. I had a similar package few years back when I first visited Sarawak but that one is another level. Lunch and music introduction is a really nice addition to the trip, 100% recommended!

When it comes to laksa, Sarawak Laksa deserves a spotlight of its own, rivaling the more famous varieties from Penang and Johor. The spicy yet tangy soup is paired with rice vermicelli and topped generously with ingredients like peeled prawns, omelette strips, bean sprouts, chicken strips, and fresh coriander leaves.
BY BURNING SOUL!!! The Sarawak laksa is very good. 🍜🍜🍜 For classic laksa kosong (plan) is RM 4 while big bowl is RM 10. 🍜🍜🍜 I ordered a bowl with cheese and chicken nuggets in my bowl is very nice. 🧀🍗 Like putting cheese on top of the instant noodle you can also add cheese on top of your laksa (ADD ON WITH CHEESE IS RM1). 🧀🧀🧀 The owner is very kind and it is now looking for new staff to work for them. 100% recommended for the laksa with cheese. 🧀🍜 We will come back again!

Famous restaurant with most of the time packed with customer. Owner constantly check with customer on satisfaction to the dinning experience. Tried 2 types of food only so far 1, banana biryani chicken rice is good 2, famous cheese naan (not double cheese version, as portion is too big) portion is large, suitable for 2 pax. Full of cheese, in fact too much compared with normal cheese naan. It is not to my taste, too much cheese for me 3, teh tarik and kopi tarik are nice

We tried the lamb shank briyani and the viral cheese naan, both were excellent! The naan is best eaten straight away while the cheese is perfectly melted but once it cools to room temperature, it becomes quite chewy. Friendly staff and a clean environment.

The service is quick, there was only a short waiting period for the food to arrive, which was great. However, during peak hours, be prepared to wait a bit longer for a table. The wait can be quite long, especially on weekends, but once you're seated, the experience is totally worth it. Highly recommended for anyone craving cheesy indulgence!

Gone from good to mediocre. 2 years ago we were blown away by the laksa. Dined in at 7pm on 14th Sept & we experienced slightly undercooked laksa, significantly smaller chicken pieces and prawns that were not cleaned properly (still had its waste tract) hence food @ 1*. Service at 2* was also not its best due to full house. Despite serving my first child's order, they forgot my other child's order (2 sets of identical items). Atmosphere at 2* because the ventilation is poor and children were suffocating due to kitchen fumes.

We love the ambience and the food. Came here twice despite our short holiday as we are in love with the tiramisu with alcohol. Strategic location and a very neat idea for converting the Old Court House into this cosy cafe. Kids love it too!

So there are some meal dishes, some cakes, some snacks, some teas and drinks. There seem 2 types of cafes here and unfortunately, rarely do places nail the both...1. the ones with nice cool ambient spaces to sit and 2. the ones with really, really good food. This place seemed firmly in the former category. I came in the evening looking for dessert...they just had a bunch of cakes. So I decided to try something a bit more unusual: the Lemon Lamington. Have to say this cake was a disaster especially in structural integrity and texture(see pic). One needed two pieces of cutlery to scoop up all the crumbs😝. The flavour was also incredibly "meh" think slightly lemon acid buttery fruit cake sponge with crusty dry sugar crystal icing w dessicated coconut. Blergh. This cake just put me in a bad mood that no amount of cool smooth jazz can shake...I don't know if I want to come back now even though other things might be much more enjoyable. This cake contends highly to win top gong for worst things eaten in KCH, cake or otherwise. It would have brought me far more joy to throw that money down a wishing well🤣 For the nice location, position and aesthetic, this cafe definitely under punches. I was expecting a bit more. Underwhelmed and disappointed. Albeit you can't rate a place on a slice of cake but if it had been me managing, I would not allow something in that condition to still be up for sale...lest it ruin the reputation of my cafe for "having standards".

Ordered the Redang nasi lemak, beef very tough, Don’t recommend. Chicken nasi lemak and Salmon burger are good. The cake is the BEST! Nice and comfortable place. Recommend to come try.

As soon as I stepped in, I saw several adorable cats — they weren’t afraid of people and were very clingy. I hope they’ve all been neutered and vaccinated. Spotted one cat with injured eye… As the door opened, the sound of piano music filled the air. I ordered the aglio olio — it tasted pretty good. The honey cinnamon cake, however, was far too sweet for me. It was the sweetest honey cake I’ve ever had, and I couldn’t finish it.

If you're in Kuching, Malaysia, don't miss out on the vibrant Sunday Market (Medan Niaga Satok). This bustling market is a must-visit for its diverse range of products and lively atmosphere. The market is well-organized with different sections for specific items, making it easy to navigate. Previously located on Satok Road, it has now moved to Medan Niaga Satok and operates on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
There are so many type of fruits that i have not seen before. I try the crystal fruit (biji krystal), green orange and harum manis mango, they r so good. A bit difficult to find the carpark space here.

it a market you smell of fish, vege, perfume, sewerage, long Kang, sound of human and machine. nearby satok old bridge.. beautiful
Jay B — Google review
This place has great potential, but there are several areas that need improvement: Many food stalls are closed – more than half were not operating, which made the place feel quite empty. Dim atmosphere – the lighting is rather poor, giving the area a dull and less inviting vibe. Overpriced food – the prices are high compared to the quality, which is quite ordinary. Attractive location and design – the government has provided a nice and well-planned venue, but vendors need to be more strategic in attracting customers. With high prices and average food, it will be difficult to encourage people to come back. 👉 Overall, Kubah Niaga Medan Satok has the facilities and setting to be a great spot, but it needs better lighting, more active vendors, and more reasonable pricing to truly thrive.

Large scale market that operates on Saturdays and Sundays. Only managed to walk through the building with vegetables and fruits stalls - many stalls, wide variety, prices are inexpensive. Very interesting as a tourist!

Sell many kind of souvenirs, traditional food, local fruits such as buah rotan, terung masam and engkalak, famous for wet and dry terubok fish, price cheaper around RM 10 and expensive around RM35-45...they can help for nice safely packing without smelly without extra changes, got plenty of parking lot, food stall.. In front got nice lapis Sarawak cake store
Dewi R — Google review
If you are a tourist and don't like going to the typical tourist traps, this is a good place to see what local fresh produce are available. Although it is called Sunday Market, it is open on most days. However, there are more stalls on Saturday and Sunday. Fresh fruits are available quite cheap. You may avoid the wet market area if you would like to stay dry. Give the local "pisang otel" a try. It is a local variety of banana.
Lim C — Google review
They start at evening of Friday. I went on Saturday at 7am. For those who never been here, it has 3 main areas. 1. Shaded area near the complex. Normally people buy the ikan terubok masin here. And various fresh seafoods. 2. Local products (kerepek, belacan, cencaluk, flowers, and fresh meats). 3. Sayur sayur, buah and pisang zone. You can find almost everything here. And do bring your own trolley because you will need it. Sakit bah tangan nak shopping but buying fruits heavy but still wanna browsing window shopping around. Advisable to go early morning. You can be done by 8.30 am and wont stuck in a jam. You can park either at Kubah area or upwell area. Most of them are still using cash, so bring your cash. They do have one ATM machine in the building in case you need any. They are open from evening Friday until Sunday noon.

I always enjoy visiting local open markets due the the wide variety of interesting products one cannot find in modern markets. This location is particularly great as the whole place is protected from the rain pouring outside.

Pinoy Fiesta Ihaw Ihaw offers a change of pace from Malaysian cuisine, featuring the underrated flavors of the Philippines. Run by a Filipino family known for bursting into song while serving, this spot is popular for its satay-coated chicken skewers and sour pork sisig. The menu includes unique vegetable dishes with sunny side toppings and tender, crispy pork knuckle. The atmosphere is described as well-lit and clean, with attentive and polite servers.
The food here is pretty amazing. In my opinion, it has the best crispy pata (pork knuckles) in town. The place can be quite full on weekends so if you're going in big groups it's best to make reservations. Also they play amazing songs that makes you burst into singing randomly.
Grace A — Google review
Mabuhay Philippines!! Unique vegetables meal with sunny side topping. Supposedly to mix altogether while it's hot but I'm a rebel. Loathe having runny yoke on vegetables, so yoke goes to mouth. No mercy! Pork knuckle is tender, the skin is all crispy goodness. A must try if you never tried pork knuckle the Pinoy way. The pork satay is tender and tasty, slightly sweet to my taste. Just your normal kopitiam, this place is well lit and clean. The servers are attentive and polite. Boss is friendly too. Do checkout their Facebook page for latest updates. Recommended.

Excellent food and service. The staff were all friendly and smiling. Chicken adobo had the right balance of flavours, including just the right sweetness with a hint of sour. Beans and pumpkin with coconut sauce was delicious and the 4 seasons drink was beautifully refreshing. Price was reasonable given the quality of the food.
Declan C — Google review
Ordered pork and chicken adobo. Had to wait a while. Can't remember the taste of adobo in Manilla, but I think this one OK. Pork was tender. Plenty of sauce. But portions are smallish. Had to order rice with it to fill up. And it tastes better with rice to offset the strong adobo taste. Service is very laid back to say it politely :). There is a small iron ramp from the street to the restoran for wheelchair users. But one would have to call them timely to reserve the parking space at the ramp to use it. There is no accessible toilet for wheelchair users.

Love the pork coconut milk, garlic rice nice, Siseg pork rice 🤗🤗🤗 but not the crispy pork rice. Crispy pork keras even hard to chew.

The cafe is known for its Muslim-friendly environment and serves authentic traditional Asian dishes like Manicai with Eggs, Nasi Lemak Ayam Masak Merah, Nasi Goreng Pattaya Ayam Berempah, and Ayam Pansuh.
Lovely food made from fresh ingredients by lovely people. The owners are super friendly and this place has a very nice and cosy atmosphere. The guest house offers a really good value for the money and has some character. :)

This guesthouse may look good value for money considering its location, but there are a number of serious downsides such as... - Ultra thin walls that allow you to hear almost every single sound from the next door - Super loud music from the cafe downstairs wakes you up every morning - Water supply often stops due to poor water pressure - Mosquito paradise like a jungle

The rooms were very nice and clean, and the beds were very comfortable. It can get very hot upstairs sometimes and if the Aircon is on for too long it will get freezing downstairs. The owner was SUPER nice and very helpful, he even took us to the airport and told us where to go and what to see in Malaysia

I absolutely loved staying at the guesthouse, such lovely staff and owners. They were very kind in allowing me to have a later check out on departure. Room: clean and minimalistic - which I love, there is only what's needed. Shower and loo: within the same space very clean and modern, great shower pressure. The cafe: what a real gem!! - the food is delicious , again I was catered for with a little change plus addition to a meal I had - I'm vegetarian. Drinks: love the vietnamese coffee (I had ice in mine) a is must try, on a hot day check to see what the ice tea options there are - I had an iced lemongrass tea - which was so wonderful and refreshing. Location: excellent walking distance to the waterfront, fun streets to wander down with plenty of food and bar options. Can not recommend this place enough! Thank you so very much for a wonderful experience, will be back :D

Buffet restaurant
Carvery is a buffet restaurant serving traditional Brazilian churrasco skewers. The friendly staff are detail-oriented and provide excellent service. The food is delicious, affordable, and not too heavy. The variety of skewers on the menu makes it ideal for anyone looking for something different to eat.
Appreciate my gf for inviting me to a fine dinner at Carvery Restaurant. The restaurant had an accessible luxury vibe and décor, which created a relaxing atmosphere for us to enjoy our dinner. Besides, the main dishes were quite large in portion and delicious. I also tried the buffet here before as well, it was a very nice experience.
ND O — Google review
I have never eaten such a bad buffet before. Its meat comes in 8.9 courses, including two bad sausages, steaks and other chicken. I really don't understand that I was cheated by the praise. This dinner ruined my anniversary. I have never seen a buffet that has to charge coke fees. Besides, the buffet consists of hot vegetables, Fried Rice and noodles, as well as some assorted fruit and a little pudding. Thailand is much better than Thailand. In addition, I want to say that if the chef doesn't know how to cook steak, he can learn it. It's really worse than the taste I eat in some European restaurants. I never I have never tasted such disgusting beef! I strongly do not recommend this restaurant, it is completely false advertising, and the buffet is simply not delicious.不要被这家店给骗了,网上吹的多么好!
Kevin R — Google review
We just had dinner there. I think the staff Angelina doesn’t understand English. My husband told her we are still full. Want something smaller when she introduced the wahgu. She say it only cost RM1xx. So in another word, she’s saying we cannot afford the beef? Apart from her, all other staff were good. This is my 2nd trip to this place. My lamb shank could have been cooked a bit more to make it softer.
Yvonne T — Google review
The laksa here and chicken chop are pretty great too. But this review comes down to one item and it’s not part of the carvery buffet. It’s the zhou chai mee hoon. This monster foo chow dish has a taste profile so complex and delicious that even ramen pales in comparison. Daringly add all the white vinegar they give you as well as their foo chow wine and find every single mouthful exploding with a broth that should win international food completions, truly. Also, at this ridiculous price point for Kuching standards, they give juicy fish and fat prawns that elevate this dish from hawker to expensive. This dish originally from another hotel (I’m guessing the chef came here), has only gotten more refined and incredible over the years and is my no.1 dish to surprise tourists with. Their expressions of uncertainty from the soup colour usually disappear when they take the first mouthful. It’s almost like a fish/prawn based soup with light alcohol, sour tomatoes, salty prawns and the incredible zhou chai. 5 stars just for this dish. Truly foo chow food at its best.

Vegetarian restaurant
If you're looking for a diverse dining experience, consider visiting Zhu San Yen Vegetarian for a Chinese buffet. This long-standing establishment is popular among locals and offers a wide array of dishes at reasonable prices. The friendly staff, clean environment, and ample food selection make it a top choice for many visitors. You can enjoy fresh and flavorful bain marie "street food" with options like tofu and vegetables prepared by English-speaking staff.
We had just landed in Kuching and were looking for vegetarian options close to our stay and this restaurant came up in our search. The place does provide excellent options. They had a buffet and lot of veggie dishes were lined up and we checked if any of the dishes were having fish oil or shrimp paste just to confirm once if it's pure vegetarian. They do have egg fried rice and are happy to help with queries if we ask them what kind of food we need. The tofu we tasted here was one of the softest tofu we tasted in whole of our Kuching stay. We also got Peach gum along with the vegetarian dishes. We did not know what were the names of many of these dishes, but the owner clarified the dishes are mostly made from tofu, mushrooms, starch and some seaweed or ferns. This is a great place to stop by for a quick and simple lunch.

Haven't been here for quite awhile, menu had upgraded. They served very very very good vongole pasta. I personally rate it 10/10. Pasta cooked to perfection and the clam was juicy clean, superb tasty, and very affordable price. Great service by the team too, better than a lot of hotel's services. Keep up the good work. I give 4.5 stars for the food but service total let down 0 star. It was lunch time when we arrived almost full. I believe they get use to lunch time crowd. We ordered white bait (snack), seabass and dabai fried rice for main. The drink came out fast, waited 10min for seabass. I told my husband not to wait for me because I feel my dabai fried rice is simple to prepare. After 30 min my husband finished his meal, my fried rice still not out. I approached the waitress she told me kitchen very busy. Ok I accepted it waited 10min no sign of my food.....10 min...5 min later finally arrived. Such a simple food dabai/rice, some anchovies & egg it took nearly an hour to prepare & everything on the plate is cold. Asked the waitress why the food is not hot when she sent over the white bait. She said fried rice they done it earlier but kitchen so busy. No apology just excuses it's unacceptable. I feel the staff really need some training, looking around I see all the lunch crowd gone but none of the table is cleared, the waitresses all standing at the corner talking. Also saw the waitresses were talking among themselves with plates of food on their hands. Why is the hygiene? Your customer doesn't want to have saliva on their food. For a restaurant that has won an award it's a shame with such bad service. I saw some great comments on the service I guess we are some of the unlucky ones. I really hope the management should look into what's going in the kitchen and front service staff.

Very posh place with a lovely ambience — great for a relaxing meal. The mushroom soup was surprisingly cream-free, but still very flavorful and comforting. The smoked duck pasta was the highlight — absolutely delicious! Tried the Shirley Temple as well, and it was pretty good. The chicken panini, however, was disappointing — too much bread and not enough chicken, also quite bland. Despite that, the service was attentive and overall it was a pleasant dining experience.
Zan F — Google review
The taste of the food is always top-notch. Food comes hot and tastes fresh and most importantly plated very attractively which is a bonus. Plenty of parking spaces available at the ground floor. Lovely ambience but the restaurant is slightly warm and dim. Great choice of menu and multiple options are available for vegetarians which is a rare case in Sarawak. The best part of the restaurant is the super clear menu. All allergens are clearly stated. The only downside is the food takes too long to arrive even when there aren’t many customers int be restaurant. So, while food tastes good, the slow service is a deterrent.

to the crews on the late afternoon of 5th November 2022, attending a very last minute booking for a 3pm family birthday gathering, big applause to all of you. From the call operator, to the manager etc, all the way to the server crews, thank you so much for the 5-star experience. we were a family of 8 adults and 4 kids, & the crews still managed to so attentively fulfill all our needs. the pizzas came real fast, and of course delicious too. kids love them. though some menus are not available, it is understandable as we went there for very late lunch on a very busy Saturday. not to mention the price is so much affordable considering the amount of facilities available at the premise and the almost real fine dining experience itself. i must say that I personally find the foods are not that top notch in general, but with such a price tag, I refrain myself from complaining, since all my guesses were so happy enjoying the whole dining experience here anyway. keep it up really, and i do recommend this place to anyone who wants to go for an affordable big dining gathering. p/s = this may be our first big family gathering here, but we actually dined here a few times as a couple, and it never disappoints so far.

All food arrived after 15/20 minutes, we ordered 6 dishes but funny thing is drinks took so long. When being asked to the staff, we can hear how the kitchen staff complained "sabar lok customer ya ada order vanilla shake nak" with a loud voice. How can our carbonara, aglio olio, nasik goreng, mee cantonese prepared way faster than a literal drinks? We only ordered plain water, hot tea, vanilla shakes and ice lemon tea.....

Many food stores but selling the same thing. You just have to try your luck to get a good one. Foods are not cheap, compare to other area. Environment is very hot. Not many fans. Not comfortable to sit and chat. Not easy to find car park if you reach after 6.30pm. BBQ chicken wing, 3 pieces selling at RM10 Taste sweet. Not the savory crispy type. Fried white carrot cake small plate at RM6. Only cai po and egg. Fragrance. Fried Kuey Tiow small plate at RM5. Ok ok.. but sister doesn't like it. Pork porridge normal small bowl at RM10. Tasty but very expensive. Black pepper Chicken chop, the sauce is too much. Like "Banjir" Pineapple pork Burger RM10. My husband said no good. Very sweet and soggy. Patty not firm. Sweet and sour Pork rice.. too sweet too wet the cucumber, pepper and pork look like overnight. Nasi Lemak (plain) rm5.00. Normal Soya beancurd - long queue. Normal Sausages 3pieces at RM12. Quite tasty. Good to try. Fried cockles with Kung Bao style at RM30. Don't ever order. Overcooked and tasteless.

Got many stalls to here. But most of the stalls are selling China's cuisine, more or less the same. But I go for local food, tomato noddle, it's quite flavorful. My friend trys the dishes from Dragon King BBQ Fish 龙王铁板烧鱼, it's quite salty for me. Overall the place is clean and comfortable.

Was introduced by local colleagues to try out at this food court. Go with a group and below are some that I really liked. Kolo mee with red sauce are good. Taste different from what I have in west Malaysia. Fragrant and a bit oily from the charsiew sauce. Noodle are springy and charsiew are moderate. Potion a bit small for me but for RM7 I could not complain. Kuey chap are good too. Lots of organs from pork and braised nicely. They have some noodles that look like kuay teow but much thicker and shaped like pan mee. Overall food are good. Price are reasonable and wide variety of foods to be choose. Will I repeat? Yes when I am here again

The place is okay, but a bit underwhelming for the price. I ordered butter prawns and fried pork which cost RM72. The taste was alright, but the prawns didn’t seem properly cleaned, and the utensils provided were just wooden chopsticks and a plastic spoon, which made eating a little inconvenient. I was also hoping to find more local Sarawak food stalls, but most of the options seemed to be from China instead. On top of that, when I went to the sink to wash my hands, there was no water, which made my experience more disappointing :( It would be nice if they could improve these little details and also include more authentic Sarawak food to showcase the local culture.

I knew I should have taken photos, but I guess I was too excited about the whole place and the really nice fried oyster omelette. Ohhh dear, please do try the soft ones, ask for extra crispy though. Like oh wow! Staffs were attentive and efficient. Till next time 101.

Restaurant
Bukit Mata Seafood 25 Sdn Bhd, also known as Topspot, is a popular spot in Kuching for Halal seafood at reasonable prices. Located in the serene Bukit Mata neighborhood, it offers a variety of dishes such as prawns, fish, crabs, jellyfish, and lobster. The approximate cost per person is RM30 with an all-you-can-eat option.
I was thrilled when they agreed to serve just the ikan bakar sambal—something most places don’t offer. The sambal is simply amazing! All the other dishes were delicious too. The oyster omelette was a bit oily, and the portion seemed more suitable for 10 people rather than 8, just my two cents. But seriously, I can’t get over that ikan bakar sambal! Make sure to visit before nightfall to fully enjoy the experience. And yeah it’s also Halal!

Overrated menu. The oyster is like a hard bug sitting on a thin layer of bowl size crisps. The plain fried calamari is chewy. The fried prawns with oats are chewy too. We ordered 2 versions of Crabs flavour:-Crabs with onion & black pepper lsauce tasted so so with no other ingredients in it whereas crabs in Kam Heong sauce is very different from the one l expected. I.e literally it's cooked with egg and pepper so the dish is a bit eggy. Nothing to shout about for their cooking. At the lift you can just ignore the notice of loc route pasted at the lift as the lift actually brings you directly to the eatery. However only 9 person per lift ride.

This stall had a lot of people when compared to others in the food court. So, we gave it a try. Maybe i had very high expectations of this place from the great ratings and the number of people that were eating here, but the food was underwhelming for me. We ordered quite a variety of items. Only the steamed clams and salted egg crab was good. Everything else, like the veggies, stringray masak asam, oyster egg, and fried calamari/squid, were just meh. Nothing really stood out. They lacked seasoning and flavor. The fried squid batter was oily and not crispy. It was ok when dipped in the salted egg sauce that came with the crab. On its own, the fried squid was not very good. The oyster egg is really just crispy flour with no taste. I would pass on that if i were to eat here again. The ambiance is ok for a food court. This restaurant is pretty much packed with customers. Service is super fast and you get your food within ten minutes of finalizing your order. The food came out in batches and we had all seven dishes and rice in under twenty minutes even though the stall was packed with customers. All food came out hot and fresh. Great service. Just need to work a bit on the taste.

Visited Bukit Mata Seafood at Top Spot Kuching and overall had a good experience. The food was delicious, with the cooks preparing dishes that really brought out the local flavors. The atmosphere was lively and vibrant, especially during peak hours—it’s definitely the place to be if you want to soak in the Kuching dining vibes. On the downside, service was a bit slow for us (just 2 pax), as it took more than an hour for our food to arrive, while larger groups that came after us were already almost done with their meals. Also, not all the seafood felt at its freshest. That said, I’d still come back again when I’m in Kuching—the flavors make it worth repeating, and I hope service and freshness can be improved further.

This bustling Kuching seafood spot truly embodies the Sarawak dining experience. Despite being a simple, no-frills shop, it consistently draws massive crowds—a clear testament to its quality. The seafood is exceptionally fresh and prepared with authentic local flair. Dishes arrive quickly thanks to the fast, efficient service, ensuring minimal wait time even during peak hours. The food is expertly cooked, delivering bold, satisfying flavors and generous portions that offer fantastic value. It’s loud, lively, and delivers some of the best, most sought-after seafood in the city.

We ordered fried oyster cake, steamed white snapper, buttered prawn, salted egg calamari, sambal belacan midin and fried vegetables. All tasted good and the meal costs MYR142 which was value for money. The place was clean too for a food court. Will eat here again.
Christopher L — Google review
Delicious seafood. Havent been here for a while so you need to come with a few friends since the smallest portion is for 2-3pax. That said, try to have a variety of cooking style so you dont get bored, we mistakenly ordered more dishes to be fried. Wish the dip for fried calamari was the Thai chili sauce or at least the Chinese stylr garlic chili sauce.
Shazli T — Google review
At this seafood restaurant, every dish is a taste of the ocean's finest offerings. From succulent shrimp to buttery lobster, each bite is a testament to freshness and quality. It is an open space set up, with many tables and friendly staff who make you feel you are welcome. Whether you're craving a classic fried seafood or steamed dishes, this restaurant delivers flavors that will transport you seaside. With impeccable service and delicious dishes, it is no wonder this restaurant is a favorite among seafood lovers. Dive in and experience one of the best there is.....

Maria Kek Lapis Sarawak is a popular Indonesian cake known as "Kueh Lapis" in most places, but in Kuching, it's referred to as "Kek Lapis." This specialty cake requires a lot of patience to make due to its intricate layers. In Kuching, these cakes are typically sold in thick long slabs and range from RM8.00 to RM15.00.
My favourite place for Kek Lapis at carpenter Street 👍👍 This time bought it for my cousins in West Malaysia, they love it so much! Price is reasonable and staffs are friendly 😊😊🙏

25.6.2025 4.5/5 Kek lapis chocolate and cheese 10. Not bad, not too sweet
Xiang P — Google review
Has a huge varieties of kek lapis, and there’s samples available to try before you buy. You don’t have to buy any particular one if you can’t make up your mind, as you can get a box that has 5 different flavours in it. It’s a little too sweet for my liking though.
M C — Google review
I quite like the cake I bought, even though I didn’t get a lot. I tried the Original and the Cheese. Both were very moist, even after bringing them back to KL, which is impressive. My only issue is the packaging. The plastic containers used are not all the same size, so the cheese one was squeezed into a smaller box and ended up a bit squished at the side by the time I opened it. Generally it’s ok but really could be better. Sweetness-wise, it does have some sweetness, but I find it pairs well with coffee. Also, we don’t eat the whole slice at once, usually just one or two bites - so the sweetness level was acceptable for me. It is not overly sweet to the point of being unpleasant, but yes, you will taste some sweetness. Regarding staff, they were neither friendly nor unfriendly - just doing their job. Not as warm as what some other reviews mentioned, but nothing bad either. Cheese version is RM10 and the Original is RM15. Nov 2025. Credit card is accepted.

RM 5 can purchase a box of mixed flavored cake, which is a good bargain.

I have to say for someone like me who has a sweet tooth and love pastries, walking into this shop is like visiting the wonderland. Never before have I experienced seeing so many colours, flavours and combinations of kek lapis (we call it kueh lapis) in my life. It was also very difficult to make decision inside the shop because there was just so many to choose from. There are so many flavours I liked but I just had to exercise self control. Prices are pretty consistent across all with some slight premium flavours with slightly higher prices. What I loved most was the sampling table, not corner. One can almost try every flavour here before deciding what you want but I be too embarrassed to do that. It was a tough mental fight that I had to narrow down to only getting two. Am quite impressed that the lapis are pretty well made and could last for quite a while if you store it properly in the fridge. I think its quite a wallet friendly shop and the sizes for the lapis you want can discuss with the shop owner. The smallest one is like a slab which is typically 10RM is already pretty big for 1-2 people for sharing. Pretty enjoyable as a snack and good as souvenirs from Kuching as well.

Wonderful local handmade Kek Lapis Maria. We love this down to earth, non super commercialised Baker thats capture our own tastebuds 🤭 Our preference 👍Banana Cheese 👍Lumut (Pandan) 👍 Masam Manis Original Their sampling is displayed hygienically compare to others Big Brands 🥹 P/S: Chat with them to understand the names of the flavours; sometimes the names will shocked you but the actually taste is different

Don't WhatsApp them, they wouldn't reply. Reason being, too busy. So you want to book anything, call them up or go direct to the shop. Was there to redeem my fave coupon for lotus biscoff cheesecake. It is a lovely cake. Taste good but the lotus biscoff biscuits too sweet for my liking.

The warm lighting throughout enhances the cozy feel while perfectly complementing the stylish furniture, making every corner Instagram-worthy without needing flash photography.
A fine dining restaurant that operates years in town. The staff are friendly and helpful and the place is classy. Ps. I love their toilet so much, it is clean yet creative, please visit the toilet if you have a chance 🙈🙈😆😆

The servings seem nice and delicious. By the way, I am more interested and grateful if anyone, especially the owner, can sincerely confirm as to whether the food served at this eatery is halal or otherwise, not just simply by ‘serve no pork’ terminology but in terms of halal source for the slaughtered beef and chicken and also no wine is used in the food reparations ... Even though they might not have a halal certificate, I don't mind that. Thank you in advance.

If you want a delicious, traditional pizza in Kuching, be sure to check out Balkanico. They make all their dough by hand and it's delicious - with just the right amount of toppings without being overloaded. The atmosphere is elegant and cozy, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. It's definitely worth trying!
Balkanico’s pizza is hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had. From the perfectly baked crust to the mouthwatering toppings, every bite is pure satisfaction. Honestly, it’s so good that taking photos felt impossible—I couldn’t wait to dig in. If you’re in Kuching and craving pizza, this is the spot that will ruin all other pizzas for you. Trust me, it’s worth every indulgent bite!

A very³ recommend open-air place to chill out with friends, family, or a 'me time' place. Food stalls selling ranges from local cuisine, Japanese, Korean, Western, Italian & Mexican. All are halal food. The staff and vendors are very friendly. The popular thing about this place is the pizza, but sadly we didn't have the chance to try it, because it's sold out. The price range is very fair and worth it as well. FYI, it's a smoking area. Also, you're able to do reservation. Will definitely come back here.

Delicious, authentic and delightful pizza with thin crust that closes early every day, so be sure to come before 7pm or pre-order your pizza via WhatsApp. The only downside is that the cutting is irregular. But taste wise, it is flavourful and good. Personal favourite is beef pepperoni. Recommended for pizza lovers.
Eva R — Google review
Easily one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. Fresh cheese and home-made pesto, and the crust is perfectly done. Was such a treat after a long hike 👍🏻
Leah B — Google review
There’s no pizza in Kuching like this 😋 Especially not one that’s vegan-friendly 🌱 Just make sure to order the vegetarian pizza without cheese 😉 The one time we did bring vegan cheese they were more than happy to throw that on the pizza! 🍕 It’s actually really good 😋 It’s located at the back of a bar with a bunch of food trucks so there’s options for everyone! 🍻 I’d recommend sending a WhatsApp ahead of time because they run out very quickly. This place is very popular & with good reason!

Great little food ally with many types of food. Pizza is cheap and good.. enjoy it..
Richard R — Google review
This is arguably one of my favourite spots for pizzas. The only catch is that you either have to place an order early to get a chance of having pizza for the day and on some occasions, the place can even run out of stock for the day as early as 7pm. So if you want you share, go early or order in advance! But I love the pizza here so I don't mind waiting if I have to and the crying Italian is my favourite. Great place to bring friends and to just hang on a weekend.
