Park
Koganezaki Park is a stunning coastal spot in Izu with an overlook and small promenade offering breathtaking views of ocean sunsets, Mt. Fuji, and a unique horse-shaped rock formation. The park is also known for Usugu, a popular beach diving site that is relatively shallow and suitable for divers of all levels. As part of a National Park, the area is well-protected, ensuring good diving conditions.
Very calm and beautiful sunset ever I’ve seen in my life. You can enjoy the sunset with your lovers and friends in there. If you travel nearby places please visit the Koganezaki Park too.
Gihan K — Google review
I recommend visiting before sunset. The way Mt. Fuji reflects the changing colors is truly mesmerizing, shifting every few minutes like a living painting. The warm, gentle sunset light also casts a golden glow on the rocks, making the scene even more breathtaking.
Rebecca P — Google review
Beautiful park on the coast. On a clear day you can see Mt fuji from here. Parking is free.and there a small gift shop with restrooms.
Matthijs — Google review
Beautiful cliff tops and a short walk. It’s not far off the main road and 100% worth the detour.
Rohan C — Google review
A very beautiful place to visit if you’re in this area. It has a very unique horse shape and it’s not too hard to walk the steps going across it. There is a beautiful view from the top and I liked the beautiful blue water on the far end. The best part is, it won’t cost you anything to visit so take advantage if you’re around. Not too many people so maybe it’s not too well known.
Kelly J — Google review
Went several times with my friends from gotemba. Takes about 2hrs from the road. The natural view of ocean and mountains are so beautiful. Very peaceful and the natural beauty make you calm there. You can see the horse like structure natural rock mountain in a blue ocean. The sunset is very beautiful. And when the sky is clear, you can also able to see Mt Fuji as well. Very beautiful place to visit.
Santosh S — Google review

Hiking area
Old Amagi Tunnel North Side is a popular spot known for its connection to the novel Dancer of Izu. Visitors are drawn to the small light at the end of the dark tunnel, creating an irresistible allure. The road leading to the tunnel from the north is in poor condition, but still accessible by car. Despite rough terrain and potential bear disturbances, many hikers frequent this area on weekends.
So cool! But be aware the road is bumpy to get out there.
Madison M — Google review
You can drive through it! Looks narrow and is quite long so not sure what you'd do if another vehicle comes th other way. Just do it, you only live once!
See ( — Google review
You would love this place especially if you have watched the movie or read the novel.
S W — Google review
Tunnel is closed to vehicle for repairs (opens end of September 2020) but go walk the tunnel instead of driving. It's nice.
Kami S — Google review
Take care if you drive there, the road is not well maintained
Marco C — Google review
It’s a tunnel.
Frank R — Google review
Quiet calm place!
Kazu Y — Google review
One of the coolest places. Feels like a real lost place. You'll walk up a street that has a little incline for quite some time and end up in front of the old tunnel. The tunnel itself has light inside but there's nobody around and, as far as I could see, no cars pass through it. Quite a spooky experience.

Waterfalls
Joren Falls is a captivating block waterfall located along the Kano River, boasting a 25-meter drop into a serene pool. This natural wonder is steeped in folklore and has been designated as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls. The surrounding area offers diverse sightseeing opportunities, including the unique terrain of the Geopark, featuring attractions such as Mt.
Nice waterfall right next to a parking lot. You need to walk a little bit and there are a bunch of steps to take. At the bottom of the falls theres a Wasabi farm which is cool to see. You can also rent angling gear and try to catch some fish.
Matthijs — Google review
One of the most beautiful waterfall sites anywhere on the world. Surrounded by wasabi fields. Plenty of of parking space. Short hike. Interesting shops selling wasabi and rainbow trouts. Very accessible for those travelling with kids. Not packed with people so you can still get a serene atmosphere at the waterfall. Great drive to the location is a plus
Rizal P — Google review
Wow this place is a total GEM and must visit. Not only for the waterfall but to see how Wasabi is made! Try the wasabi ice cream at the end (glad I tried but wouldn't again). This place was a highlight for me fromt he view and all. Go and visit!
Min P — Google review
Beautiful, but too touristy. Can't access the river unless you pay for fishing, which is disappointing. Would have been amazing to sit down on a rock and dip feet in the stream. For those who excuse fencing off the falls by claiming protection of environment from tourists - there are hundreds more waterfalls all over Japan that are open but just as clean, so no made up excuses are necessary.
Herr D — Google review
Go to Izu_Hanto but not stopping by Joren Falls then it is not completely yet. Story of famous Izu dancers by Kawabata, it is here, this location is within the story, the young student with a young girl encounter through out their trips. Parking is large free, right by the way down to Jorell falls is status of the beautiful two famous innocent, light hearts romance standing. The water falls down by 200 more steps but in well maintained and well cared for every one. Down to the falls you will feel the strong of water running and clean air fresh air. Small shop for wasabi, ice cream and sign up if you want to go fishing there. It is one of the main stops in Izu peninsula if you are interested in the beautiful izu Hanto. Going up after visiting the falls then coffee shop Idoriko's coffee shop. Name from the old train used to run at this side. Gifts shops is also carrying many products, fresh wasabi 's available to purchase if you like. This place is good stop and easy to all. We loved to be here. Thank you
Y. Y — Google review
The photos don't do it justice, it was more spectacular than I thought, especially in the rain. The surprising bonus was the small wasabi farm also in the gorge, so you can see the waterfall and get your wasabi hit (including buying fresh wasabi) in the same place. There are about 200 steps and no wheelchair accessibility. No toilets in the gorge either.
Douglas A — Google review
Nice, cold, easy to reach. Try the wasabi cashews sold down at the waterfall!

Waterfalls
Nestled in the mountains above Kawazu Town in southeastern Izu, the Kawazu Seven Waterfalls (Kawazu Nanadaru) offer a delightful forest walking trail spanning approximately 1 kilometer. The trail takes about an hour and a half to complete and leads visitors past seven waterfalls ranging from 2 meters to 30 meters tall.
The hike around the waterfalls was wonderful. It’s well kept and you can take the route from either end. We took a bus to the top of the trail and did it backwards. The falls are various sizes with a couple of them busting very tall and majestic. They had a couple rock throwing challenges along the hike that were fun. You’d pay 100円 to an honesty box and then take three tries to toss the rock into a basket a ways out.
Julian L — Google review
Wonderful walk along the river, gorgeous waterfalls. Mostly easy walking but some areas with lots (lots) of stairs. Can dip feet to cool down, one fall has a spring to help cool down. If you enjoy yourself at a leisurely pace, will take several hours. Or can be done quickly in probably just over an hour. If you find the hidden restaurant, go have barracuda or snapper!
Who O — Google review
A nice walk in the woods past 7 waterfalls. Most of the waterfalls are fairly small, and river access is prohibited in most areas. Not wheelchair friendly, but not a strenuous hike either. It was a nice enough stop, but wouldn't recommend going out of your way to see it either.
C Z — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely breathtaking! Kawazu Seven Waterfalls is one of the most beautiful and peaceful spots in Izu. The trail is easy to walk and perfectly maintained, winding through lush forest and crystal-clear streams. Each of the seven waterfalls has its own charm — from small cascades hidden among mossy rocks to the majestic final fall that feels straight out of a movie. The sound of rushing water, birds singing, and the fresh mountain air make it such a relaxing experience. Along the way, there are lovely cafés and small onsen inns where you can stop and enjoy a break with coffee or soft-serve ice cream. It’s also a great place to visit year-round — vibrant green in summer, fiery red leaves in autumn, and tranquil beauty in winter. If you’re in Izu, this is a must-see destination. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking to unwind in Japan’s natural beauty. 🌿💧
Moe F — Google review
Its very beautiful and serene but its quite a treck. Lovely views overall and quite a nice shift from the busy citylife. The village where the waterfalls are is also quite cozy with a very friendly shop and an amazing udon/soba restaurant serving cheap and amazingly delicious food. If you have physical limitations or similar it could be dificult to treck through but its very beautiful for those who apreciate nature.
Oliver T — Google review
A wonderful series of waterfalls that are very easy to access. The trail is very well kept mostly concrete and very easy for almost any one to complete. There are a few areas with some steep steps and a wooden bridge. The falls and river are beautiful and make this well worth a visit. You can complete it easily in under an hour even if you linger a while. There is a cool area where you can attempt to land some small stones on a rock out in the river for your wish to come true. Each fall has an associated diety a story and a stamp so be sure to bring a notebook to collect the stamps! You cannot get in the water though while we were there a tour group walking the river and going over some of the falls was going by. If you are in Shimoda or any nearby town this would make an excellent trip.
Trey T — Google review
It was nice to walk through the path visiting the 7 waterfalls and the volcanic rocks. I visited the walk from uphill to down starting from north toward south. It seems easier than the reverse.
Luke L — Google review
I read reviews that recommended taking the bus to the top fall and walking the trail backwards/down. This is good advice for most people. The tourist office guide in Kawazu at the bus stop saw my cane. I am 76 and have knee and hip replacements. She told me to get off at the first stop, see falls 1 to 3, backtrack and see falls 4 and 5. I did NOT follow her advice and went to the top fall to walk down. I was wrong: she was correct. The upper trail starts out nice but then there are a million steps down. I spent all my concentration on not tripping or falling. It interfered with my ability to enjoy nature. My wife and i made it. But if you are elderly with mobility issues do what the Kawazu tourist lady tried so hard to communicate to me. You are old and impaired. Accept it and enjoy what you can. Multiply picture by at least 30 times.

Lover’s Cape, also known as Koibito Misaki, is a romantic spot in Japan that overlooks the Sea of Japan. It's a popular destination for couples who come to enjoy the breathtaking views and make wishes at the heart-shaped shrine. The cape features a wooden walkway leading to a clifftop observation deck with sculptures, offering stunning views of Suruga Bay and Mount Fuji on clear days.
Views at the tip of the cape are extremely beautiful but be prepared to walk up and down slopes and climb stairs to the observation deck. Overall perfect place to soak into the seaside view! Unfortunately, I was not able to see a clear of mt Fuji again.
Valdeus S — Google review
Absolutely phenomenal view of mount fuji via the sea, and views of the coast all around you. However, check the weather as its not a good idea to come when its cloudy or rainy due to limited visibility. Be prepared to walk 10 minutes on quite steep concrete. Nice walk however.
Teio — Google review
It was the perfect destination to take a couple. Although the place is called “Lover’s Cape,” it’s a wonderful spot for anyone to enjoy. A short 10-minute walk through lush greenery from the parking area leads to a high vantage point overlooking the sea. The area is rich in nature, with the constant song of bush warblers, and the ocean was beautiful.
ITokyoTravel-iTokyoDrive T — Google review
It’s much more than the description on the website, before I came here, I thought the things I can do there are ringing the bell and drinking a cup of coffee. The truth is there is a big garden and a small mountain, you can enjoy the natural views and do some exercise by climbing the mountain. Moreover, the cats there are actually very cute and popular, many souvenirs are based on them! Kawaii
Joya S — Google review
Nice little walk with spectacular views! You should be able to climb stairs, as there are really plenty of them 😀. Most of the time, you can walk in the forest which was really nice, as the sun was really hot when we came here.

Really nice spot. We were there on a warm November day with a nice breeze blowing, and no snow on Mt. Fuji yet. Steep paved hike down and back to a large platform. 10-15 minute walk each way. Gift shop at the top had a few snacks and lots of souvenirs.
Adam L — Google review
Very nice scenic views of the ocean and Mount Fuji. Well worth the trip on a clear day, but may not be worth it on a cloudy day. Steep hill to walk up and down from the free parking lot. Don’t forget to ring the bells with your lover!!

Bodies of Water
Futo Coast is a popular destination for diving, snorkeling, and exploring tide pools due to its clear waters and rocky coastline. Visitors can relax on the beach while admiring the stunning rock formations. Nearby attractions include Koganezakis uma rock in Ugusu town, Crystal Beach, and a campsite with a white sand beach. The area offers awesome scenery and unique geology but is susceptible to strong waves.
2 stone beaches are connected and the water is astonishingly clear & blue. Waves make a calming sound.
Farhan A — Google review
Great rocky beach with swimming, snorkelling, scuba, fishing, SUP. Plenty of parking. Nice cafe. Quite busy in summer even though the access appears deserted. It's not privatized like some beaches around Izu. There's south and west facing areas for more options when the wind is up. My wife loved the snorkelling and saw lots of fish.

Sebastian B — Google review
This place was excellent for a roadside stop. There was free parking before 10:00. I found that the southern portion was less occupied and a lot of fun to snorkel. There are lots of caves to explore. Lots of tropical fish that can be seen by snorkelers or divers. There is fresh water to wash your body and equipment off before leaving.
Brenley R — Google review
Clean water, few people, beautiful beach. Can not come here if you do not drive a car. No bus here
Snkparty1 — Google review
Awesome scenery, very cool geology (as pictured), great water but susceptible to strong waves and the rocky shore (no sand beach) make this more of a come-and-go location than a 'spend-an-entire-afternoon' destination. Parking located on the grass lawns just 100 m from the water is not well-managed and is, well, free. Parking right next to the water will cost you about 1000 yen.

Toi Beach is a family-friendly destination with calm waves, making it perfect for a relaxing time by the sea. The beach house offers reasonably priced food and drinks, along with free showers and clean restrooms. While it can get crowded during summer weekends, weekdays are more peaceful. However, some visitors feel that the beach could benefit from better maintenance to keep the water clean and improve facilities for families and children.

(Translated by Google) Visited on a Saturday in August. I stayed at an inn right across the street and was woken up early in the morning by the voices of the lifeguards practicing. Thank you for your hard work. It was a very large beach and the waves were calm. The water was a little murky due to the typhoon, but by the afternoon it was clear enough that you could see the fish swimming. The water was shallow and we were able to go quite far back. It seemed like the kids were enjoying the scenery while floating on their swim rings. There are free showers and changing rooms, as well as disabled toilets and beach huts, so families can enjoy themselves without any problems. There were many lifeguards and a well-maintained monitoring system, so we were able to enjoy swimming in the sea with peace of mind. I'll definitely go again next year. (Translated by Google) My family and I visited Toi Beach. While the water isn't particularly clear, the coast is clean and very pleasant. One of the best things about this beach is the Toi Onsen Maru, a converted boat that doubles as a hot spring bathhouse. Rinse-off in the hot spring after a swim—it was incredibly relaxing. The shallow waters are wide, so kids can play safely. The waves are calm, making it a perfect family destination. The nearby parking lot, which is free for two hours, was also a great help. It wasn't too crowded, so we enjoyed the stress-free experience. What impressed us most was the friendliness of the people, both locals and tourists. They greeted each other, were kind to our children, and the warm atmosphere was soothing. This beach is highly recommended for those looking for a relaxing time or a safe and enjoyable experience with their families. Norihama Beach is a stunning coastal spot with a picturesque view of the surrounding cove. It's an ideal destination for sunbathing, swimming, and unwinding amidst the beautiful scenery. The beach offers a serene ambiance, making it perfect for relaxation and enjoying the sunset, which is particularly breathtaking in late June and early July. The clear waters and gentle waves make it suitable for leisurely swims or simply chilling out by the shore.
This is a really great beach with a beautiful view of the surrounding cove. It's perfect for sun-bathing on the sand, going swimming, and just relaxing and enjoying the scenery, especially so in late-June and early-July before the summer tourists come. The sunsets from here are also the most beautiful I've ever seen! You can see the sunset from various areas around town throughout the year, but according to their website the best times to see it from Dougashima are between September and March. The downsides are that the local shops directly next to the beach don't open until August. Not a big problem though because you can easily walk to restaurants and 7-Eleven nearby. Highly recommended! If the weather is good, this is one of the most beautiful spots in Izu!

Tagosehama Beach is a picturesque spot with limited parking, so it's best to arrive early. The beach has clear blue waters and offers activities like kayaking and snorkeling. It's rocky, so wearing appropriate footwear is recommended. During the summer months, parking needs to be reserved in advance. The area is surrounded by buoys and has lifeguards on duty for safety. Overall, it's a great place for snorkeling with fewer crowds compared to other beaches.
Beautiful beach with a clear water and a lot of colorful fish Great for snorkeling and diving Or just swimming Family friendly In offseason is a lot of free parking lots just near the beach Quite place with beautiful nature

(Translated by Google) 3.8 ・Even though a typhoon was approaching, the visibility was better than I expected. ・There were a few large fish, including snapper fish and others, searching the sand with their antennae for food. The snapper fish swam nearby for a while without fleeing, allowing for careful observation. I enjoyed seeing butterflyfish and vibrant blue and yellow fish. Smaller fish were found around the rock face on the right side facing the ocean, while larger fish seemed to be circling the entire area. The most exciting thing was a school of about 30 squids, each about 15cm long. They were very wary and fled when I got too close. ・There were almost no corals or sea anemones. ・Parking is by reservation only. Check availability on the website, print a ticket form from the Ticket Pia machine at a 7-Eleven, and pay at the register. The road to the parking lot is quite narrow. There's an old man at the entrance to the parking lot, so hand over your ticket. The ticket is large, so I folded it up, but it wasn't a problem at all. - The beach is full of large stones, making it difficult to walk on. If you're using a tent, it's a good idea to bring a thick picnic blanket or chair. The nearby kayaking tour took you to the island across the shore, where swimming is not prohibited. It's unclear whether snorkeling is permitted. There are three free outdoor showers, which is very convenient.

Since it was a weekday, there weren't many people, so I had a great time with my family. The beach is moderately shallow up to about 20 meters from the shore, and then suddenly becomes deep enough to barely reach the height of an adult's feet. Please be careful about the depth, especially if you are playing with children. If you are a small child or someone who is not used to water and cannot swim, we recommend wearing a life jacket or floatation device that will help you float. There are also rescues, but parents should always stay close to their small children. There is a man-made rocky area near where the stream flows. The footing may be slippery or bumpy, so please be careful not to get injured. I took my 2nd grade elementary school child there, and the sea water was very warm around 2pm, and the sun was setting in the evening, making it a magical and beautiful place. Parking fee is 1000 yen. Please specify your parking location. Also, you can use the shower for 3 minutes for 100 yen, so you can wash yourself thoroughly when you get out of the sea. Nishi-Izu is such a beautiful place, and it's a great place to go from Tokyo or Saitama in about 3 and a half hours. We recommend leaving a little early in the morning and arriving by around 10am. One of the best and most underrated place of Japan.Full of natural beauty and beautiful oceanic view. There is natural mountain rock whose shape is just like Elephant and tortoise. The parking is huge and free of cost. However its far from main town area like Shizuoka. Access is very inconvenient coz only few local buses runs there. You have to pay a transportation charges in two stops so make sure to bring a changes when you go there. We didn't knew about that but some how we able to manage to pay the road tax. You can also observe the canyons via ships. You have to pay some amount of yen and then you can see the rocks, oceans via ship. The ship takes about 20-30min to complete its trip and worth to its price as well. Really a beautiful place to visit. Highly recommended.

The Dogashima Cave Tour in Japan offers a mesmerizing experience for nature enthusiasts and photographers. The tour takes you on a boat ride along the rugged coastline and crystal-clear waters, providing stunning views of the geological formations. Inside the cave, intricate rock formations and the soothing sounds of the sea create a magical atmosphere. While there are different cruise courses available, the basic tour offers beautiful views from the water and an opportunity to explore the captivating cave.
I go the trip on weekend and no advance buy the ticket. We wait the boat not over 10 mins. We spent time around 15-20 mins. All is good.
Jitsupa K — Google review
We did the 25 min boat rive to the cave - coast was beautiful. You only go inside one cave but it was still cool. We did not have to wait - we bought our tickets and were able to immediately board the boat. I think they run every 30 minutes. Cool way to see the coastline. I don't think they had explanations of the tour in English - it was hard to hear what they were saying over the speaker system.
Shawna D — Google review
I visited this place on a public holiday. Unfortunately it was high tide on that day and as a result we were not able to take a boat ride. Otherwise there are multiple boat ride routes that you can choose from. If the boat rides are not operational, you can trek on the top of the cave to the mountain top for a good view.

You can check the morning of to make sure the tour is happening. There was some rain scheduled for the day I visited, but I was lucky that it didn't begin early and I was still able to go. The tour is quick and nothing about the boat is special, but the views from the water are very beautiful and magical feeling. Being inside the cave was really cool, there were people on the walkway at the top waving down to us. Everyone seemed happy to experience the beautiful nature.

My bar was set low and I was pleasantly surprised. The scenery was enough for me. The audio guide was in Japanese only and I don’t understand enough for it to make sense so all I had was the views and it was beautiful. The way the captain turned the boat around inside the cave was very impressive.

Awesome quick tour.. All you need for the reasonable ¥1500. Going in to the cave wasn't expected.. Captain's skills were impressive.. Make shure of calm weather before you visit.. Cave's sealing is pretty low and waves won't permit boat's entry... It's totally worth doing it.. Strongly recommended!

This is well worth a stop. The cave is spectacular from the boat, great to see all the volcanic rock features up close. Just a 20 minute ride, boats leave every few minutes, tickets from the kiosk nearby, so quick and easy. Longer or sunset trips also offered.

Dogashima Onsen Hotel is a contemporary hot spring hotel located in the southern end of Nishiizu, known for its dramatic coastline and uninhabited islands. The hotel offers airy rooms with sea views, free breakfast, and casual dining. It has a Showa-era atmosphere and vast grounds that make it ideal for a multi-night stay. The hot spring at the hotel boasts smooth and slippery skin after bathing, similar to Bato Onsen in Tochigi.
You can feel the age of this hotel, but the rooms are very clean and well maintained..the view from the rooms is beautiful and the open air Onsen is very relaxing with a great view of the ocean especially during sunset. There are several free amenities included with some free snacks and drinks which makes this place a great value.
Yuri K — Google review
The location is the main attraction of this hotel. They are right next to the Dogashima land crossing and ocean view rooms offer a beautiful scenery. There are very few hotels in this area so they do have the market cornered, so to speak. The properly is old and very much in need of repair. Water damaged exterior, paint peeling interior, dirty windows and rooms smell of mold. We paid the equivalent of a Tokyo/ Osaka 4-star hotel half-board for one night’s stay. The key difference being there there was no service provided by Dogashima Onsen Hotel: you pour your own drinks at happy hour, no meals included or futon preparation service. The pool was closed and the women’s sauna was not working during our visit, neither was mentioned by the front desk at check in. This is two weeks before the start of summer season. There is very minimal non-Japanese signage on the property. I read a little kanji so was able to get around, but it is clear the hotel primarily caters for domestic guests. It felt like we were promised a beautiful horse but received a donkey. I will not be staying here again.

Tombolo Land Bridge is a unique natural wonder located in Dogashima kaigan, a renowned geopark. This phenomenon occurs between massive rock formations in the ocean, creating a tidal island that can be accessed during low tide. Visitors are advised to check the low tide schedule before visiting to ensure the land bridge will be visible. The area offers opportunities for exploration, photography, and wildlife observation amidst stunning rock formations.
Among the many viewpoints in the area, this one standed out due to the great experience of crossing the ridge with waves coming from both directions. You xan either park at the large parking lot on the main road or drive all the way down to the sea level. There are 3-4 parking spots and public toilets there

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Koganezaki Beach, also known as Nego Beach, is a popular spot in Izu Peninsula for diving and snorkeling due to its crystal-clear waters. The beach allows camping, offering visitors the chance to stay overnight near the shore and experience summer in Shizuoka to the fullest. Accessible from various camping sites nearby, it's an ideal place for a complete outdoor adventure. The area boasts warm weather and stunning views of the golden rock surface illuminated by the setting sun.
Clear, calm water. Great for kayaking and snorkeling! Parking is free and people are friendly.

Rocky beach attached to a camping ground at one end and a dive shop at the other (western) end. Basic toilet facilities if you're not part of the camp site. We went there to snorkel and it was good towards the dive shop, but not the best we did in Izu. Check the prevailing winds before deciding to come here.

Small, beautiful and uncrowded beach. Great scenery, great water (when waves are calm) and a good deal of wildlife. Not bad for snorkeling, but not the best either. Free showers available!

(Translated by Google) This cove is a mecca for diving, where you can meet lots of fish, and the regulator air bubbles up from the water. (Translated by Google) The beach is about 3 minutes away from the parking lot. There is a toilet on the way and a water source in front of the beach, which is appreciated. However, although the toilet and water source are close, the rocky slope of the beach is a little difficult to walk with luggage because of the loose stones. The beach is small and the waves are gentle, and although there were not many fish, there were blue fish and cute fish, and the water was clear, so it was fun to snorkel leisurely. It gets deep quickly, so be careful with children. (Translated by Google) Visited in July 2023. I moved from Ukishima Coast. There is a large free parking lot above the Koganezaki campsite near the coast, and you can reach the coast in less than 5 minutes. There is a drinking fountain and shaded bench by the entrance toilet. There are no showers or shops, so be sure to buy food and drinks in advance. The coast is a stone beach similar to Ukishima Beach, and there is no sandy beach. Be careful of small children by holding their hands to prevent them from falling. The sea was so beautiful! ✨ I went snorkeling, and there were spots where there were hundreds to thousands of beautiful fish, depending on the location, so it was a great experience. Waterfalls
"Nature Village Otaki" is a hidden gem in Nishiizu, offering an epic waterfall and a thrilling adventure. To reach the waterfall, visitors can park at the wasabi farm parking lot and embark on a hike along the river. The trail involves walking through tall grass and crossing a small metal bridge before reaching the magnificent waterfall. Although the trail is considered dangerous, it's worth the effort for nature enthusiasts seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience.
Epic waterfall. Dangerous trail. Park at the wasabi farm parking lot. Walk up the river. Walk through the tall grass. Cross the small metal bridge. Walk up the river. The river will be on your right side. You will find the waterfall. Don't give up.

(Translated by Google) As you head towards "Nature Village Otaki" from Prefectural Route 59, the road will split into two. Take the unpaved road on the right, cross the bridge, and it will turn into a concrete paved road. If you continue further, you will be near the waterfall. I was able to go all the way. There was originally a parking space for 2-3 cars, but there was a fallen tree and there was only space for one car to turn around. I had no choice but to turn the car around, reverse it up to the top of the forest road, and park the car. If multiple cars are parked, the car above you won't be able to get out until the car below you leaves, so it's best to arrive with plenty of time to spare. Also, the forest road is narrow and there are many falling rocks, so please be careful when driving. If you are not confident in driving, I think it is a good idea to park your car near the fork in the road and walk. You can walk from the parking space to the waterfall for about 5 to 10 minutes, but please be careful where you step. It took a little effort to reach the waterfall, but it was worth seeing (*´∀`)♪ (Original)

(Translated by Google) Shoreizan Tofukuji Temple is a Rinzai sect Kenchoji temple whose principal image is the Amida Buddha. It was founded in 1233 as Tenpuku-ji Temple of the Shingon sect, and is said to have been relocated in 1309. When it was rebuilt in 1395, it converted from Shingon to Rinzai. It was later moved to its current location and renamed Tofukuji when it was rebuilt. The main hall's coffered ceiling is decorated with a plaster painting of 500 arhats, and on all four sides are placed dolls of celestial maidens, depicting the heavenly realm in which they are dancing. This celestial painting was created in the late Taisho period by Tamura Toshimitsu, a local craftsman known as Donbeiyasu, who spent five years creating it. (Translated by Google) Tofukuji Temple 500 Arhats This is my second visit. I came here because I wanted to show the plaster watermark to a different companion than last time. I paid an admission fee of 200 yen and a stamp of 300 yen. You can listen to the explanation from the old lady and enjoy as much as time allows. It is said that the family commissioned Toshimitsu Tamura, a plasterer from Gunma, to complete the work, which took about five years, for the purpose of holding a memorial service for his parents. I felt the power of the dragon's work, the imagination of the three-dimensional plaster work, and the descriptive power of the watermark. If it's for a memorial service, we can't help it, but it's a bit of a shame that it's kept in a place where it can't be seen by many people, but we hope it continues to be kept with care. (Translated by Google) This is a compact temple located in Nishiizu Town. I visited on the middle day of a three-day holiday in October 2024. When I went to the entrance, I was greeted by someone who appeared to be the wife of the temple, and she opened the main hall. The dragon and 500 arhats made of plaster on the ceiling of the main hall are a sight to behold. It is made three-dimensionally in places (reminiscent of a picture book), making it very impressive. The wife explained in great detail the origin of the product. People will be more interested in something if they have knowledge about it rather than looking at it vaguely. When I asked if it was possible to take photos, I was told that it was OK to take a few photos as long as I didn't use a flash on my smartphone. In addition to deterioration over time, due to the characteristics of the building, it is easily damaged, so it seems that efforts are being made to preserve it. There are some spots that look amazing in photos but aren't as good when you go there, but this one was even more amazing than I had imagined. Admission fee is 200 yen. The parking lot is free, so even large vehicles can park there without any hassle. If I had a chance, I would definitely like to visit again.
