The USS Silversides Submarine Museum in Muskegon, Michigan is a spacious museum dedicated to honoring and preserving the military history. Visitors can explore the 2-story museum building, tour the preserved WWII submarine USS Silversides, and visit the prohibition-era U.S. Coast Guard cutter USCGC Mclane. The museum also offers activities such as overnight camping experiences in a submarine, shopping at their store, and attending various events. In addition to its expansion with the Robert G.
It’s been many years since I’ve been here! This museum has changed in a major way. They have an indoor up & down stairs area. The indoor explains submarine function & history also including other service branches & units. The upstairs mentions the US Merchant Marine, a Marine aviator, USGI field equipment, war posters and various ship models. The Silversides could be a better museum. It would be nice to see an indoor exhibit of submarine escape w/ lockout chamber explaining, how SEALs enter & exit a sub. It was also awsome to meet the curator! I do recommend checking this place out. 👍👍🇺🇸😁
Barnacle B — Google review
We loved it! Museum is full of WWII info and related stuff from the Silverside. The sub is still amazing after all these years. Everyone was friendly. Attractions inside are interesting with lots of real objects to see and explore.
Michael F — Google review
For those into history, this is a must see. I toured the submarine , and it was amazing that we had that kind of technology back then in those tight cramped spaces. It's nothing like what you see in the movies. Nothing. If I lived in the area I would go back a few more times by myself. So I could read every little detail and tour the sub again.
Joe W — Google review
We visited the Submarine Museum and ship in October 2025 for a Scouting America campout—and YES, we actually spent the night on the sub! Total bucket list experience. The Museum The museum is really well done and gives a great history of submarine warfare and this specific boat. There’s a short film in a small theater, several walk-through exhibits with artifacts, and a nice gift shop. It’s the perfect warm-up before going on the ship. The Submarine Most of the sub is still intact and you can explore the main areas. Just remember—it’s a real submarine, so the spaces are TIGHT. Very cool to picture 72 sailors living and working in those close quarters. Overnight Experience This was the highlight! We had pizza on the 2nd floor of the museum, then got a few hours to explore before loading onto the sub for the night. Scouts slept in the torpedo room and leaders stayed in the crew quarters. It felt surreal to sleep where the actual sailors once did. If you’re anywhere nearby, take the time to visit—and if you ever get the chance to do the overnight program, DO IT. It was an amazing experience and I’d go back in a heartbeat!
Jody G — Google review
The museum has both indoor and outdoor sections. The outdoor part features a submarine that you can board and tour. The indoor museum displays exhibits on World War II history and the USS Silversides submarine. It has two floors, with most of the exhibits located on the first floor. There is also a theater. While the video may not be professionally made, it is helpful to see a recording of a typical tour guide inside the submarine. Both sections require paid admission. Overall, it is an informative museum and worth a visit.
QL Q — Google review
An impressive museum! It’s self guided and fairly priced. There are a lot of things to read, some interactive exhibits including a periscope to look through and the submarine to tour, a well-stocked gift shop, and theater to watch a short film. They include world history spanning hundreds of years and Michigan and the Great Lakes ship building during wars. I would visit again.
Hannah J — Google review
Who can be the first to get this right: how many gauges are on the USS Silversides? Clocks count (a gauge of time); indicator lights do not. Just ballparking, maybe 300? Subs are highly complex - no wonder they required a large crew. I've toured many historic warships; I don't recall seeing one in better condition inside. Kudos to the preservers of this historic sub! There are a lot of interesting things to notice, like diesel engines that compress the fuel & air mixture from both sides! We enjoyed the museum too; it was like a WWII refresher course.
Ken S — Google review
Excellent museum. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The museum is very well put together and organized to hold your attention. You can even explore the sub too!

The Hackley & Hume Historic Site in Muskegon, Michigan features two Queen Anne Victorian homes that belonged to lumber mill owners Charles Hackley and Thomas Hume in the late 19th century. These homes have been meticulously restored to showcase their original grandeur, with period decor and ornate carvings, stained glass, stenciled walls, and ceilings.
These homes are truly a work of art and an excellent display of midwestern craftmanship. What makes these homes amazing is the care and attention to detail that has been given by the people who have loved and maintained these homes over all of this time and created this rich interpretive experience to those who are lucky enough to stumble upon it. The way these homes were built, the carvings, furnishings, immerse you in immense classical beauty that is hard to describe. Having toured Hearst Castle and several other historic homes and properties, this experience really stands out to me in terms of it's completeness and historical accuracy and amazing example of artistry, craftmanship and architecture. The passion of the staff and the support of the community to offer and sustain these homes is commendable. Bring your camera and if you have any interest whatsoever in history and art take an hour out of your day and just do it!

Enjoyed a interesting historical tour at two beautiful Queen Anne style homes and carriage house. We had the best, engaging tour guide that shared many interesting facts. I'm so glad we made this stop when visiting Muskegon.
Keri T — Google review
Loved this place! So much history and intricate art work, the restoration work shows a lot of care and tour guides are always reaching and learning!
Lindsay N — Google review
All the homes and experiences at this stop were top notch. I've toured a lot of historic homes, all over the country, and these homes were in my top 5. The staff was amazing and they have done a fantastic job preserving these homes. We truly got to tour the entire home and the attention to detail is outstanding.
Katey G — Google review
I LOVED visiting these historic mansions and Terry was an amazing tour guide. Both mansions have been lovingly restored and it was fascinating learning about the families and local history. We also visited the Fire Barn. A must see in Muskegon!
Elizabeth M — Google review
We didn't take the tour but walked around the grounds. Houses are beautiful with very distictve architecture. Easy access via street parking out front.
Rorie M — Google review
We love going through these old mansions. We've been here for Christmas and other times, but this time we took the "backstage" tour that is a guided tour into places the regular visits don't allow. Our guide did a great job on this "white glove" tour showing us things you don't normally see and answering our questions. All the ropes were down, so to speak, and we saw EVERYTHING!
Steve J — Google review
These homes are absolutely a work of art. The tour through the two houses was very informative, I just wish we would have had more time to look at things instead of being rushed through. Understandably they have to keep your groups moving through on the schedule, so we'll just have to go back again!

The Muskegon Museum of Art, established in 1912, is a charming museum showcasing an impressive permanent collection of American and European artworks. Visitors can admire works by renowned artists such as Edward Hopper, Winslow Homer, August Rodin, and more. The museum also boasts a contemporary studio glass collection featuring pieces by Dale Chihuly and Dante Marioni. Originally known as the Hackley Art Gallery, the museum houses original works purchased through the generous Hackley Picture Fund.
Great place to see some art! Visited the Festival of Trees exhibit in 2023! Cost was $5 plus general admission of $10. They also had other cool displays too like Oddities & Delights cheeseburger and cow displays! In addition to the general art/displays they have.

Loved the gift shop! The art work was beautiful! Ended up going there on Thursday by chance and it was free to get in!
Lindsay N — Google review
The museum is beautiful with a diverse collection of artwork! The pieces were stunning and interesting! There were a vast number of techniques and textures, from leather carved pieces, glass, wood etc. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable! One staff member in particular was attentive and enhanced the experience!

There is a beautiful glass collection to view which is one of the best presented I've seen, the lighting is perfect on each object and the totally blacked out room makes every single piece glow. I was there to see this year's Michigan Contemporary Art Exhibition. I have a piece included and am very honored to be in it. Beautiful exhibition spaces and very thoughtfully hung. This exhibition is totally free to view, as is the parking lot behind the building. Highly recommend

“Do you love the world?” I do! So there! - Jeanne Monteagle Julia Child is a cool chick. It’s worth it to pay the extra coinage $8 to see her exhibit. Thursday’s are free - fyi. I would have easily been there 3-4 hours. Nice, well curated exhibits and a refreshing/ enlightening way to spend the day. Love your life. Exactly as it is.

First time visiting this museum. We went to see the Art Nouveau: Age of Elegance exhibit. Didn't disappoint. This museum is expansive and offers many styles and mediums from glass to oil and canvis to sculptures. 12$ entry fee is well worth it.

I have taken my daughter to the Saturday kids art activities and we watched a movie in the auditorium. We have enjoyed our time at the Museum of Art and the updates are beautiful in the Museum. There is a very nice gift shop. Many great community events have been hosted at the Museum of Art and the ones we have attended have been very well organized and nice.

The Muskegon Museum of History & Science, part of the Lakeshore Museum Center, is a family-friendly destination that has been showcasing the rich history of Muskegon County since 1937. The museum offers hands-on exhibits and educational programs for visitors of all ages. From exploring animal food webs to engaging in interactive activities at the STEM Center and Body Works, there are plenty of opportunities for kids to learn and have fun.
My kids (2 and 4) always have such a great time at this museum! It’s definitely more geared toward children, with plenty of hands-on activities to keep little ones engaged. I’ve noticed that older visitors sometimes seem caught off guard by the energetic atmosphere, as kids are often running around and exploring. That said, we’ve always had a fantastic experience — we’ve even met up with friends for playdates here. Plus, it’s free for Muskegon locals, which is a wonderful bonus. Highly recommend for families with young kids!

Great exhibits about Muskegon's history and a good stem room. Love the ancient history of Michigan's environment on the basement level. Free for Muskegon residents.
Amanda R — Google review
Before anything else, I just want to say thank you for having the sensory bags available! They were the reason that we were able to visit your museum with our nephew in the first place. The kids did enjoy the museum overall, but felt that the activity rooms could use an upgrade if possible! Some of the available toys were simply aged or not as accessible as modern toys/usable artifacts. Curation wise, I definitely got the sense that the museum centred around Muskegon's history; however, I don't feel as compelled to re-visit as I do, say, comparable museums such as the UP Children's Museum or Science North in Ontario. Some possible improvements could be updating some of the displays to more accurately reflect the past twenty or so years, create more interactive displays, and perhaps come up with a more unique display to Muskegon itself. Plenty of other local museums feature similar information on WWII and the different ages of our planet, but is there something particularly different or important about Muskegon or the county that could be featured in a new display? Something like this would make me want to come back.
Natalie L — Google review
The Museum offered many hands-on things for kids to learn through, the Science room was a bit sparce due to people taking things I'm sure. The girls I took had a blast and that's what mattered most to me.
Tammy D — Google review
What a great museum for a rainy afternoon! We enjoyed the exhibits and loved the fact that it was all rooted in Michigan history so we could relate and understand a little more. The areas for kids are wonderful and allow for imaginative educational play.

I’m really excited to have my pocket fidget friends featured in the Lakeshore Museum Center! This history and science museum has such a fantastic selection of carefully curated items that spark curiosity and joy. I love that they share our mission of spreading joy through fun and meaningful experiences. Pere Marquette Park is a picturesque public beach located on the shores of Lake Michigan, boasting white sands and stunning views of a lighthouse. The park is home to The Deck, a beachfront restaurant that has undergone significant renovations over the years to offer live music, ample seating, and family-friendly activities. Nearby, Dockers Fish House at Harbor Town Marina provides visitors with delicious dining options and breathtaking views of Muskegon Lake.
We watched the sunset on the beach here and it was absolutely stunning. The sand is so soft and bright. It’s a decent walk from the parking area to the shoreline, but worth it. They have a huge park, a pier you can walk to a lighthouse and great public restrooms. There’s also a cool restaurant chill space that hosts concerts called The Deck. We will be back!

This was my first time at Pere Marquette beach. It was absolutely lovely. I enjoyed the walks along the pier. The scenery was just beautiful! I came at a good time, as there was no paid parking after September 15th. The beach was clean the water was clear. I've been passed here on busy days and I don't think I would want to be here when it's busy but today there was very few people
Twila K — Google review
I love this park. I drove all the way from Ohio just to see this beautiful beach and to see lake michigan. Such a beautiful site to see that words just can't be put into. I visited it most recently and it was really crowded but that's to be expected in summer. My last visit before this summer was when I lived in muskegon and I visited in late fall/winter and that was also wonderful. But just very cold. 🤣
Robert T — Google review
Great beach. The water and sand was clean. They have bathrooms and changing areas. A small café with a small menu and ice cream. Outdoor shower to rinse the sand off. A large playground. A walking mat for easier walking to the beach, this is great if you have a wagon or in a wheelchair. At the end of the walking mat they have tables for family's that have someone in a wheelchair in their group. They even have an area with tools for bike repairs. The restaurant The Deck is also located on the beach. The Deck has great food, drinks and entertainment on certain nights. The only con is that they raised the parking fee to 10.00.
Tammy C — Google review
The beach was great beautiful. Parking enforcement is terrible. You can see by the pictures I posted that there was one meter out (there was also a second one out, not pictured) that had two parking enforcement patrols park adjacent to the meter that was out of order, both actively writing tickets for cars parked near the meters that were not working. What a terrible way to represent the city.
C M — Google review
clean sand with rocks, pebbles, or shells unless you in the water even then it's clear. plenty of parking on both sides of the beach and way more usable beach then in prior years

Nature & Parks
Muskegon State Park encompasses a vast 1,000 acres of natural beauty, showcasing rare coastal plain marshes, dunes and woodlands. In addition to walking the scenic trails on offer, the park also boasts exciting winter and summer activities such as zip lining and luge runs. The staff at Muskegon State Park are exceptional in their speed, accuracy and commitment to safety while making all participants feel welcome regardless of their abilities or age.
Wow what a huge state park. As you drive along there's plenty of sandy beach to enjoy Lake Michigan. Lot's of hilly sand dunes. There's different campgrounds to find your perfect spot. Connected to the channel with views of the light house and the submarine. A must see and stay for day's state park.
Lynda S — Google review
There's a little bit of wonder when it comes to this park... Wonder to be found in the sand, in the lake, in the trails. But really this is just a beautiful portion of Michigan's natural identity. And more than once I've been drawn to its wooded paths or sandy hikes, or even just wanted to find a quieter spot on the beach to enjoy the ever changing views of the Great Lakes wondrous inland freshwater oceans from afternoon to sunset. This is a great place to find all that and more. With the inlet creating a smaller lake on the other side of the park, you can catch a gorgeous sunrise as well, and enjoy lots of local birds singing and waves lapping gently at soft sand beaches. Sometimes you can catch sight of a freighter going through the channel, or sailboats meandering around the lake as they tack back to their slip. And the best thing to wonder about? When you're going to come back next. Because this is a place that takes hold of you and beckons you to return.
Tom P — Google review
Grew up coming to this park, as I get older the dunes grow hard to climb. Great place to spend the family. Not as crazy as Grand Haven and you might actually get beach time without being hit by a kid and their football. Come Make memories for you and your family like I did.
Zachary S — Google review
From the entrance to the exit this park had everything we could want. We got the beach and trails. Then the sunset. We witnessed the monarch butterfly migration and saw the northern lights all in one day. Don't miss the luge park and all of its activities. Winter, summer or fall this place does have it all.
Theresa S — Google review
This State Park has two campgrounds. The North is very wooded and has hills (dunes). There is access to Lake Michigan from this campground. It is also across the street from the Muskegon Spirts Complex. The complex has luge runs, zip lines and walking trails. Pretty nice. They also have a lighted trail for walking at night. We stayed in the Channel Campground which is located by the channel from Lake Michigan to Muskegon Lake. There is only a small beach on Muskegon Lake. The Lake Michigan beach you would have to drive to. Most of the campsites have paved pads for trailers. The rest rooms are good. There is access to several hiking trails which go up into the dunes. These are hiking not bike trails. Overall it has been a relaxing stay.
Richard D — Google review
Beautiful state park went and did the zipline, the rock walls and the luge. Don't pass up the beach here it's one of a kind being quite a beautiful sandy open freshwater body of water.

Very nice, well maintained trails. Excellent maps for direction and distance. Not much cell service. Pretty easy hike to Lost Lake.
Justin M — Google review
This is by far one of my favorite Michigan state parks. When the temps are hot on the beach the shaded campground offers a shady respite. The sunsets do not disappoint. This year the water spigots either didn’t work or were trickles of their former selves. It made collecting water for dishes and drinking a bit challenging. In the Fall you need to be careful because the bounty of acorns are constantly dropping and they hurt if you get beaned in the noggin. We have a vintage metal camper and it scared the poo out of me at night because they sounded like little explosions 😂 Ruth Ann’s is an adorable ice cream store that you can easily access from the campground on foot. One thing I noticed is that there are multiple arc/trailer sites with the fireplace on the right. If it’s not a pull through that makes it hard to position your camper so that the fire pit is on the same side as your door instead of behind your camper/ trailer

The Monet Garden of Muskegon, located at the corner of Clay and Fifth, is a charming community landmark inspired by the famous Monet Garden in Giverny, France. This picturesque little downtown park was transformed from a vacant lot into a peaceful oasis featuring colorful flowers and a small pond with a replica of the iconic blue bridge. Visitors can relax on benches surrounded by well-arranged landscaping or take a leisurely stroll through this artsy garden.
This little garden is sooo cool and such a peaceful little spot, home to a fish pond, butterfly waystation, wildflowers and lots more! Also, benches to enjoy it all! They have quite a few small public gardens like this around Muskegon and it’s awesome to see! You definitely have to check this out!

An unexpectedly cool little patch of color tucked into a quiet neighborhood of Muskegon. Mini reimagining of Monet’s Giverny garden spot, complete with pond and water lillies - and bridge. The flowers are on fire, and there are goldfish in the pond. It’s tiny but very cool.

This is a mini park inspired by Claude Monet's garden at Giverny. There's a replica of the green bridge over a tiny pond and flowers all around. Went here for dance force xpress nationals. Beautiful theatre. I wish we had more like this one. Vintage yet up to date. Clean both inside and out. Echoes of Pink Floyd did an excellent job. Their performance brought a lot of great memories back. Will definitely see again and highly recommend. This theater is great as well. Lots of activities and events (including free). Sarah, front of house lead, was awesome as well. She did a great job in helping with a rowdy guy.

Beautiful theater with kind staff! We appreciate the free kid's movies! A worker responded quickly to clean up a child’s throw-up, though they accidentally missed the correct spot. A volunteer dismissed my polite mention of it entirely, but overall, it was likely an oversight in communication, and at least the clean-up attempt was quick! It would have been sanitary, too, if it hadn't taken place in the dark. The worker was patient with the process and didn't seem troubled one bit, at least. If I didn't read between the lines, I might have assumed the volunteer, and therefore, theater didn't care about health and safety at all based on the volunteers reaction. We were pleased with everything in general and had a really great time! Thanks, Fraunthal! 🙏

Absolutely beautiful theatre. Load in for band was very convenient. Classic Seger rocked. Tornado warning at the end of the night was a unique experience. The staff handled it calmly and with class. We definitely will be back.

Flea market
The Muskegon Farmers Market has made a successful move to downtown and is now managed by the City of Muskegon. It is the largest open-air market in West Michigan and features the Western Market Chalets, which are standalone micro pop-up shops with local vendors. The market is open weekly during spring, summer, and fall, offering a variety of seasonal farm-fresh produce, specialty food items, crafts, and more.
Plenty of stalls mostly hosted by individuals and small businesses selling not just farm produce but lots of other types of food, candles, arts and crafts, etc. Visiting on a holiday weekend it was though very busy.
Brian M — Google review
We enjoyed our visit and made many purchases of cheese, fruit, coffee, and donuts! The parking was easy and there were many vendors, all of them covered against rain. Bring cash- most of the vendors accepted credit card or tap to pay but some were only able to accept cash unfortunately. No dogs are allowed on site and there was a loud live band.
Patrick S — Google review
Went here on a gloomy Saturday, which also happened to be the same day as a Harley Davidson motorcycle festival across the street. The fire station next door also had their doors open to the community. There were lots of people and lots of vendors. We definitely picked one of the best days to go as the weather wasn’t too warm. This market has a nice variety of vendors and food trucks, everything from art, jewelry, baked goods, local meats, and vegetables.
Nabeel K — Google review
First time visiting on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised the market was so big! Great variety of items! I highly recommend checking it out! The vendors were all very welcoming and friendly! Will definitely return when in the area.
Janine H — Google review
Just. Sites off season on Oct 25 and I was pleasantly surprised by how big the market was. I daytripped from the Ann Arbor area, and our market is a lot more expensive. I got several stems of flowers for $1 per stem, a plant, and a few other things. Everything was much more affordable than Ann Arbor. Do bring cash, some of them only accept cash/checks or have a min of $10.

I drive to the Muskegon Farmers market on Saturdays for Kaufman's produce. They are certified organic and actually grow the stuff they sell., Their produce is usually in better shape than the others, many who appear to simply buying from wholesalers, not growing themselves, and certainly not organic. Kaufman's prices are quite competitive with the others, yet certified organic! While at the market I occasionally wander over to laughing tree bakery for bread and scones made from organic flour. They could use less sugar on the scones, they are too Cookie like with all the sugar. Would also be nice if they would buy a gas oven to get their crusts under control 😊 the crusts are a bit tuff due to their brick oven, which I think they fire with wood. But still best in area, gotta go to whole foods for better.

Best farmers market I've ever been to. Abundance of fresh vegetables and fruit. Also a large variety of food, coffee and craft vendors. Something for everyone!!
Cindy M — Google review
Though it is the inside market I feel like the people are friendly and have a lot of fun there. They have everything from fruits and vegetables to crafts. The winter market may be small, but the people there have a great variety.

Hackley Park is a versatile destination offering various attractions throughout the year. In the summer, visitors can enjoy weekly community gatherings with live music at the outdoor stage. During Christmas, the park dazzles with enchanting light displays that captivate both adults and children. The park also provides free WiFi and is conveniently located near several cultural institutions. With ample seating, a water fountain, and well-maintained lawns and trees, it's an inviting space for events like the Muskegon Polish Fest.
Exceptionally beautiful park that we found while road tripping through Michigan. The center monument is quite something. Believe this was all benefactored by Mr Hackley. It was interesting enough that I did some research on him. There is a beautiful library and another building with a magnificent design right across the street from the square. They both deserve to be viewed as well.
Brian D — Google review
I went down to Hackley Park for the Taste of Muskegon event. It was a beautiful day, and I got there just as they were starting the event. The check-in people were fast and efficient checking ID's, the ticket sales people were quick too. I went to the Pigeon Hill tent to buy my first beer of the day, Shandy Jackson, and wandered around the park, bumping into friends and enjoying the free concert. There were many food trucks and booths from local restaurants to choose from. A well run event that was a lot of fun. I also found a booth selling tickets for the upcoming Burning Foot festival in August. They also had a visit by the Miss Michigan contestants walk thru the park.

Should pull the fuses for the horns during the "touch trucks" event, but a lovely venue! Kids had a good time.
Chad B — Google review
Beautiful, clean, shady, 1 square block park with picnic tables and a measured walking route around the sidewalks surrounding the park. Great views of historic Hackley Library, Torrent House, and Hackley Admin Bldg, among others. During the summer, there are numerous public festivals in the park. In winter, there are very nice holiday decorations in the park. It's part of my dog walk most days, especially when it's hot out, since the park is shady and has a drinking fountain.
Carim C — Google review
This park is absolutely gorgeous, such a nice relaxing spot to bring the dogs and lay a blanket out. They have little events here all the time (as seen in the video which is “Taste of Muskegon”) What i find fascinating, is all around the park there is old buildings, and old train station, and old churches that are absolutely gorgeous and really well preserved making the atmosphere of the park go up a lot!

Hackley Park is a nice place to visit for many different reasons. In the summertime, they have good weekly community get together party’s on Fridays and have bands play at the small outdoor stage. Also in the winter time close to Christmas time. They have a nice Christmas light displays with other displays that adults and children alike will enjoy seeing.

Sports complex
Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park, located in Muskegon State Park, offers a range of outdoor activities for visitors of all ages. In the winter, guests can experience the thrill of luge on an 850-foot ice track or enjoy ice skating on a lighted trail through the woods. The park also features cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails. During the summer, a fiberglass luge track is available for those seeking adventure in warmer weather.
Absolutely Worth the Visit — So Much to Do! This was our first time visiting Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park in warmer weather and we had an amazing time! It’s the perfect place to spend the day with family, friends, or kids. There’s so much to do — we honestly didn’t want to leave. We started with zip lining, which was a blast. Dan and the team were fantastic — they made safety a priority and explained everything clearly, which made us feel comfortable and excited. Then we tried archery, and Tim was basically a sensei! He was such a great teacher that now we’re buying our own bows and setting up targets at home. The summer luge was fun — not quite the thrill of the winter luge, but still a really unique and exciting experience. Rock climbing was my daughter’s absolute favorite, and we loved all the lawn activities too: badminton, football, corn hole, and ping pong were all available and added to the fun. The park itself is beautiful — great for a hike or just relaxing in the forest. We decided to get a season pass and will absolutely be coming back. Huge thanks to the staff as well. I wasn’t feeling well at one point, and they were so kind and quick to help — they even brought an ATV to take me back down to the lodge so I didn’t have to walk. That kind of care makes all the difference. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors and try something new.

This place was well worth the money! I went with my husband and 2 teen daughters and we had a great time! The guides were all amazing, super friendly and informative! We could have spent the whole day there with all the the activities but we left for lunch! Pack some food and take your time to enjoy it all!
Aimee P — Google review
Not worth the money in our opinion. Staff was great though. Zip line, they were very helpful to drive us up instead of walking up the 88 stairs. Did get to zip line twice, so that was nice. The wheel luge was extremely short, two turns and you are done. Had to carry our own luge carts (not light) uphill and stairs. If the luge luge was longer, would have been better. Other visitors trying to find their way in the trails, but is beautiful property. Would have liked a bit more for the money.

The first for me and my husband zip lining and it was a great experience. I am glad my friend talked me to go. Thank you Dianne for making me go. I would recommend my family to go to the Muskegon Luge Adventure sports park. 😀

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR. 😭💙 If I could give this place more than five stars, I would. Ten out of ten. A thousand out of ten. There are not enough stars to express what Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park gave me—not just an amazing day, but something soul-deep. Something life-affirming. Something I almost never find in this world as a physically disabled person who craves adventure. I’m not just someone who enjoys movement—I need it. I need the thrill of motion, the emotional release that comes from activity, the grounding that comes with pushing my body in whatever way I can. But finding places that understand that, that welcome that, and that actually provide safe, inclusive access to real adventure is nearly impossible. At Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park, I didn’t have to fight to be included—I already was. I didn’t have to prove myself, explain myself, or justify why I wanted to participate. No one looked at my wheelchair or support needs and paused. They looked at me and said: “Hell yes, let’s do it.” 🙌 And they meant it with their whole hearts. From the moment I arrived, the entire experience was seamless, welcoming, and filled with enthusiasm. Their adaptive setup is thoughtful, professional, and built into the core of what they do—not a side feature, not a half-effort, not a reluctant accommodation. It’s part of the core values of the park. That alone is worth shouting from the rooftops. Every single person on staff showed up with compassion, confidence, knowledge, and pure excitement. There was no awkwardness. No hesitation. No pity. Just celebration. Just joy. They saw me. They treated me with dignity, warmth, and enthusiasm. They didn’t ask if I could keep up—they made sure I could fly. 💙 Their 1400 ft. dual zip line—gliding from the top of a Lake Michigan sand dune and soaring through the forest—was one of the most electrifying, freeing, and healing things I’ve ever done. 🌲☀️💨 I’ve never experienced this level of inclusion and excellence anywhere else in the world. And I’ve traveled. I’ve tried. I’ve faced so many barriers, even in places that claimed to be accessible. But this place didn’t just meet the standard—they redefined it. Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park is hands-down the BEST business I’ve ever encountered for adaptive recreation. They deserve every honor, every grant, every spotlight, every ounce of praise. What they are doing is more than business—it’s a movement. It’s a model. It’s the future of what recreation should look like: accessible, thrilling, inclusive, human. They don’t just make space. They make belonging. They don’t just accommodate. They invite, empower, and celebrate. That kind of environment is revolutionary. I left feeling more like myself than I have in a long time. Not limited. Just me. Laughing. Soaring. Alive. 💫 So if you’re even remotely considering a visit—go. GO. GO. GO. Whether you’re disabled or not, whether you’re local or driving across the state—you will not regret it. The memories you’ll make here? They’re life-changing. To Daniel Bonner and the entire team at Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park: Thank you for giving me a day of joy. Thank you for giving me space without apology. Thank you for giving me permission to live boldly. And thank you for reminding me that my body is still capable of adventure, thrill, and belonging. I’ll be back. Again and again. This place is a treasure. And I will never stop recommending it to anyone and everyone I meet. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our family of 8 participated in the Ultimate Adventure Package Saturday, September 2025. First of all, the weather was perfect! On top of being friendly, fun, engaging, and patient, the entire staff had our safety in mind every step of the way! Each activity area was neat & clean. The staff provided a thorough explanation of each activity, and performed multiple safety checks at each, as well. We felt "safe" and knowledgable on what to anticipate!! The "office staff" was very helpful with registration and communication via email was thorough and timely! We are looking forward to returning next summer, but first, we plan to participate in the upcoming winter activities!!

We had such a great time at Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park! The all-inclusive fall package was totally worth it — we did the luge, zip line, and archery, and every staff member was friendly and thorough. The archery instructor especially stood out for their patience and detail. Loved how accessible the park is too — even offering a wheelchair for rough terrain and help carrying gear. Can’t wait to go back!

Aquastar Cruises offers a unique way to experience Muskegon from the tranquil waters of Lake Michigan. Whether it's a sunset cruise or a special event, the friendly staff ensures an enjoyable time on board. While enjoying the beautiful views and recorded music, guests can also take advantage of amenities such as restrooms and refreshments. In case of any inconvenience, the company goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction by offering alternative options and discounts for future cruises.
I was in town with a group on business and they all had flown out so I thought I’d find something to do on my last night. I came across the Aquastar that was right across from my hotel so I thought why not go and see a sunset on the water! I was pleasantly surprised that they had a phenomenal jazz band and a perfect seat waiting for me on the upper deck. We cruised past a docked submarine and a lighthouse I didn’t know was there. We waved at boaters as we cruised through the channel and out into beautiful Lake Michigan. The weather was phenomenal as well. As the boat turned the sunset cascaded the sky like it was just for us! I asked the captain if it was always like this and she chuckled and says it’s always different! Being from metro Detroit , I had no idea that Muskegon had all these little gems! I will most certainly will be back and next time I’ll bring some friends! Thanks for saving me from another night of staring at hotel walls. Much nicer view ❤️

Aquastar is amazing! From the owner to the entire staff, the service is more than exceptional. Great location, several cruise options and special events, some with live music or a DJ. The dock and boat are clean and very well maintained. My wife and I have been on a few cruises at different times and it's been a new adventure each time. We always have an exciting experience. Taking in the views of Muskegon Lake and out on Lake Michigan is breathtaking, especially the sunset cruise.(Our favorite!) There is a well stocked cash bar on board with snacks and beverages for the kids and the adults. They also do a lot for the area communities. We did a fundraiser cruise for Special Olympics last year and it was a great success, Shout out to Patrick and his staff for helping us pull this off. We had a couple raffles and 50/50's and Aquastar gave a percentage of the ticket money back to our cause! They also gave a captain's hat to all of the Special Olympic Athletes who attended. That speaks volumes for the kindness and integrity of this company. We are so grateful for that. Hoping to do another fundraiser later this year. Much warmer than the Polar Plunge event we always do. Haha! Thank You again Aquastar Cruises! Keep up the great work! Definitely will (and have) recommend you to everyone!

Highly recommend. We had the best little happy hour cruise! Perfect start to a fun evening with friends. The band was fine & the bartender was slow, but it added to the charm! We went to The Deck after our cruise and ended up seeing the sunset cruise later, which spent more time on Lake Michigan and looked absolutely beautiful! 🤩 We plan to book again and check that out.

While planning out vacation, I found Aquastar cruises and knew that was something we had to do. They did not disappoint! The ship was really clean, they have a bar and with snacks on board. Everyone on board was really friendly. We took the sunset cruise and the views were absolutely incredible. It was cloudy so the sun wasn't completely visible, but just before the sun set completely, the clouds moved and we had the most beautiful view! If you are in the area, I would highly recommend the sunset cruise.

Great experience. The Aquastar is a relaxing, early 2 hour cruise, on scenic Muskegon Lake. As a Boat Nerd, I love the history of this boat and the company that owns it. We will be riding again!

A must for all to enjoy a clean, friendly and professional crew!!! Plenty of beverages to enjoy while seeing the beautiful scenes. So easy to park, check in and maneuver around the super clean boat. You can definitely tell, feel the pride from all staff. Thank you for a beautiful evening!

Love the sunset cruise. Music was a little loud at first but that probably was because we were near a speaker!
Sam C — Google review
Cruise was fun, we got to see both Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan, plus the channel view of the Silversides sub. The sunset cruises are a nice touch. The crew knows what they are doing, the ship and restrooms are clean, and Jane, the bartender, was a bonus. We'll go again soon, especially given the fact that my ride was free as a veteran. Of course, we promptly spent more than that amount on a couple of drinks and some snacks.

Unruly Brewing Company is a vibrant craft brewery located in Muskegon, offering a wide range of American ales and an assortment of sandwiches. It's known for its lively atmosphere, diverse beer lineup including seasonal and experimental brews, and the distinction of being the first brewery to brew beer in Muskegon since 1957. The brewery also features an outdoor beer garden, live music events, and free tours.
I am very pleased with my experience at Unruly Kitchen. Did you know that their tacos are only $ 1 on Thursdays? Yes, and their tacos are delish. Staff are personable and attentive - service is excellent. Unruly cares about it's customers, as noted by the yellow safety paint on the step down, front entrance. Well done, I say. Definitely a dive, has bands here, drinks and food are all self service, you order and you bring to your table or chair. A bit no frills but works well here. People are generally friendly and helpful here. These guys make their own spirits and beer, the former I tried for whiskey and it’s very good. The Beer, I has a Tirim and it’s quite good too. I eat the Turkey the Barbadian, and it made fresh and hot, and they give you a tag to signal you when it’s ready - great when it’s crowded and or when it’s loud with a band. The TTB is quite excellent! And with chips too. Well worth it here, will come back again!

Friendly staff at food and beverage counters. Took the time to explain beer menu and what flavors usually compliment others. My gf said she enjoyed all the choices and I enjoyed stuffing my face with some lighter fare of food choices.

We visited Unruly for an event that we paid to get into. Purchasing sub-par wiskey at $10.00 per shot. We were then told by the bartender that they "aren't serving ice water" when asking for a water. She told me to "drink from the drinking fountain " Absolutely ridiculous that you'd want patrons of your establishment to not be responsible while drinking. I WILL NOT drink from a drinking fountain like an adolescent child! If it's a time management issue at the bar then buy bottled water for your events and we'd gladly pay for it! I have NEVER been told at any establishment that they can't serve me a water. This is VERY poor service and doesn't speak well on your business's part.

Found this place on a cloudy, windy day while delaying heading over to the nearby amusement park. Cute little beach with a picnic area on one side and a dog park on the other. The Muskegon Heritage Museum of Business & Industry is a unique destination that showcases the industrial heritage of the community. The museum features an operating antique machine shop, a working Corlis Valve Steam Engine, and a fully functional 100-year-old printing press. It specializes in displaying Muskegon's industries, businesses, and products made in the area. Visitors are drawn to the working bowling alley and the opportunity to witness demonstrations by friendly docents.
Today was my first visit to this gem of a local museum. I did not expect such a rich, lovely experience! Jim was the best tour guide ever. I learned so much about local industry and his stories made me feel transported to another time. It was engaging and fun, and I left there loving Muskegon more than ever. Can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you, Jim! 😁

Did you know that Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls were made in Muskegon? Or that it had one of the largest refrigerator factories in the world? There is one small section of industry highlighted after another. Staff are very excited to share the museum and will eagerly answer any questions. This museum is largely focused on the industries that are or have been in Muskegon. It doesn't have info about its logging history, although I suspect that is found more at the Hackley Home museum. We spent about 1.5 hours here and really enjoyed it. 2 hour parking on the street and other parking on side streets nearby.

The Muskegon Heritage Museum of Business & Industry is located in the historic downtown, right across from the Amazon sign. Don’t be fooled by the name—it refers to the Amazon Knitting Company, which was native to Muskegon long before the existence of the online retailer. The museum is quiet and surprisingly informative, offering rich insights into local history and the manufacturing industry. Exhibits include steam engine-powered "appliances," vintage bowling machines, the lumber trade, and more. It’s truly a hidden gem in the Muskegon area.

Must-see museum in Muskegon. We learned so much! It was really awesome seeing the HUGE steam-powered hydraulic machines. I've been an avid bowler since I was a kid, so of course I loved all of the Brunswick history.

We had a fantastic visit to this museum. Jim gave a wonderful tour and went above and beyond to make it a great experience! You would never guess by looking at the outside of the building how much is in there: a working steam engine, working bowling pin setter, player piano, and much much more!

Experience the rich history of the SS Milwaukee Clipper, one of Michigan's most renowned and oldest passenger ships on the Great Lakes. This historic vessel, which predates the Titanic, is now permanently docked in downtown Muskegon and open for tours. Immerse yourself in its fascinating past as you explore state rooms, a movie theater, a dance floor, and an ice cream parlor during its ongoing restoration process.
Great Fun, Very Interesting, Really Nice Museum, Very Reasonably Priced, Absolutely Love The Soda Bowl, the Malts are Amazing!! The People have done an amazing job of restoring that beautiful Ship!!

Had a lovely breakfast served by the clipper's volunteers for Memorial Day. It's always great to see people so enthusiastic. I must come back for a proper tour someday, but the "Soda Bowl" Cafe was a nostalgic treat.

Been meaning to swing by here for a while and finally made it in. Lots of great details on the ship. Lots of original furniture and dining booths. The tour is self guided with a pamphlet. Weekends it would be busier and they have a little ice cream area that only operates on weekends also. They do have special events and there is a dance floor. On Sunday's they will give tours of the engine area. This ship has quite a history and I would recommend a visit here.
Robin D — Google review
What a delightful afternoon! It was an impromptu break during a long drive so we didn't know what to expect. The knowledgeable guide educated us about the fascinating history of the ship (it is older than the Titanic!) as well as the general industries around the Great Lakes. Several places have been restored to original. It was like stepping back in time. The hour long tour was well worth the cost of admission.

Very interesting ship to see both what it was like and what time does to a ship. A bulletin explains the history of the ship and gives directions for the tour. If you are planning to enjoy some ice cream like we were, call ahead to make sure it's happening. It's all-volunteer, so it may be happening, and it may not. Lots of good places nearby for ice cream. Here's a summary of the ship's history from the organization's website: Commissioned in 1904 by the Erie & Western Transportation Company, the steamer JUNIATA was a luxurious 361-foot passenger and package freight vessel built for service on the Great Lakes. Powered by a rare 3,000 horsepower Quadruple Expansion steam engine, she accommodated 350 passengers in first-class comfort with elegant mahogany interiors, fine cuisine, and grand architectural features. Operating between Buffalo and Duluth, she served for over three decades until 1937, when stricter safety regulations required her retirement due to her wooden superstructure. In 1940, the JUNIATA was purchased and transformed into the S.S. MILWAUKEE CLIPPER, featuring a fireproof steel superstructure, air-conditioned staterooms, and modern amenities like a movie theater and dance floor. She served as a passenger and auto ferry between Muskegon and Milwaukee from 1941 to 1970, with continued use during World War II and year-round service through the early 1960s. After several ownership changes and relocations, she was recognized as a National Historic Landmark and eventually returned to Muskegon in 1997 by a preservation group dedicated to restoring the historic steamer to its former glory.

I stopped by to visit the ship and was very impressed by the museum. I did not have time to tour the whole ship but I look forward to revisiting in the near future. The staff was very kind and informative. This is a great stop for anyone interested in Great Lakes, nautical, or commercial transportation history.

Took a step back in time with a self guided tour with so much history. It was easy to navigate with areas being blocked off so you can find your way across multiple decks. I met the curator, Ray (I believe that was his name...i'm bad remembering names), and he shared so many great facts about the Clipper, including his personal stories. The Soda Bowl was a nice treat to have in the middle of the tour. Our family of six had a great time!

I stopped here at the Milwaukee Clipper with my mom, and it was an interesting experience (in a good way). We always come over on the Lake Express, and we wanted to finally tour the ship, so we gave it a try. The service was great onboard, the actual tour was informative, and the price was not bad either. First, the service. All of the volunteers working at the Milwaukee Clipper were kind, passionate, and informative. You could tell they were interested about the vessel, and it made for an enjoyable experience. The only gripe I have with the Clipper is the spotty availability. For a Friday, the hours are 1-5pm and the gate is supposed to be open, so we get to the attraction and it was closed with a posted phone number to call. We called the phone number and it wasn’t even the Milwaukee Clipper that answered. So, that was an interesting miscommunication. My Rating for this Category: 4/5 Second, the tour itself. The tour was fabulous, and the tour guide takes you all around the vessel, explaining everything in detail in the process. Their enthusiasm was appreciated, and she always made you want to know more. The tour took about 40 minutes which was plenty of time. My Rating for this Category: 5/5 Finally, the price. My mom and I paid about $12/piece, and for a 40 minute tour of an extremely historical boat, we found the price to be reasonable. There are other pricing rates available depending on various circumstances. Also, with the great customer service, we had no complaints here. My Rating for this Category: 5/5 The next time that I am in the Muskegon area with friends or family between Wednesday and Sunday, I would have no reservation taking them on the Milwaukee Clipper. The great tour with great service and a nice price makes this a no-brainer when in the Muskegon area. So, I have no reservation recommending the Milwaukee Clipper tour to anyone’s

The Muskegon South Pierhead Lighthouse, built in the early 1900s, offers docent-led tours to the top for panoramic views. Climbing the 48-foot-tall ironclad tower provides a unique experience of traveling back in time. The lighthouse is open for tours from Memorial Day to Labor Day and visitors can walk out on the pier to get up close and personal with it.
Located near the bathroom building. Nice walk on the concrete/stone pier out to the old lighthouse. Not sure it's ever open to go in it. Closed when I was there. Wonderful views of the lake and the Pere Marquette beach. Also views of the newer lighthouse. Paid parking. Lots of parking but went late in the day.
Barry G — Google review
I was excited to visit this lighthouse until I realized how dangerous the path is, especially with kids. It starts off wide and then gets so narrow that you can barely fit two people side by side, let alone walk past someone coming the opposite way. The path has big, broken chunks so it could be easy to trip on an already dangerous walkway. I loved that it went way out. I wish there was at least a railing to feel more secure, especially with younger kids. It gets very windy out there. Its free, so there's no tickets to buy. The path is right next to The Deck restaurant. The lighthouse itself is very old with graffiti unfortunately on it.
Elizabeth J — Google review
The lighthouse can be accessed on foot from the U.S. Coast Guard station. It’s a short, easy walk along a wide, concrete-paved pier. The red paint of the lighthouse contrasts beautifully with the blue lake. I just wish it were less crowded. There is plenty of parking available, but payment is required.

The Fire Barn Museum in Muskegon, Michigan is a tribute to the courageous firefighters of Muskegon County. It houses an extensive collection of firefighting artifacts such as call boxes, ladders, hooks, hose carts, and a LaFrance Fire Truck. The upper floor showcases uniforms, photographs, and a replica of fire fighters' sleeping quarters. Sponsored by Charles H. Hackley, this museum offers a glimpse into the city's firefighting history and the evolution of firefighting equipment.
Definitely check this place out along with the tour of the Hackley and Hume homes. It's all part of the ticket price and so interesting!

What a wonderful small museum depicting firefighting history. We took our 3 year old grandson, who is currently very much into firetrucks. He had the opportunity to sit on a very old firetruck, as well as seeing where the firefighters slept, bathed, and ate. He thought the chamber pots under the bed were a funny object, especially as we explained to him the use of the pots. Outside the museum were two wonderful ladies that gave our little one a basket so that he could gather eggs and put them into an egg carton to sell. They also showed him how clothing was washed before the invention of the modern day washing machine. Beside the museum was a historical home that was open to walk through and learn a bit about its occupants from the past. All in all a wonderful time! I recommend if looking for something to do while in Muskegon, put this little gem on your "to visit" list. *Tickets are inexpensive but must be purchased at the Hackley and Hume Historic site (worth the visit as well) around the corner from the museum.

These historical landmarks are amazing and a must see. To be able to walk through them. With only a couple areas roped off. Because of because of items that are staged You are given a complete tour of the first floor and second floor of these houses. Please note this is no longer free. To get tickets, we had to go one block, hackley/ Hume Carriage barn. I believe you can get tickets for the firehouse and depression House next door separately, but we opted to get the full tour of the Hackley house and Hume house tour, which also included the firehouse and depression house. It was well worth the time in the cost. This was an amazing tour and well worth the time. To be able to walk through each house into each room, paintings and wood craftings of the time. To listen to the events that took place in these homes and what these families have met to the Muskegon area is amazing in itself. For the craftsmanship of these homes I would say there's no other that I've seen.

As a +20yr FF from TX, this the best preserved "1900 era" firehouse I've ever seen. I'm not aware of anything comparable in the US. Simply amazing. The preservation is superb. A true national gem. It should be on the US National Register. The staff was very friendly.

I love going inside the Fire Barn and looking at how things used to be at the fire department. It is set up so the public can walk through it and see how the fire dept used to be set up and an upstairs displaying the living place for the firemen. It even has a public restroom. Very cool place to visit if you happen to be in Downtown Muskegon.

I attended a Baker College Graduation here. I've never been because I'm from Flint, MI. It's a nice Arena. It was to small for this graduation 🎓 commencement though. People stood around the top wall for the entire ceremony. And to acknowledge that many grads I'm glad it wasn't me. They, the arena could have unlocked the private cages that are around the top so that these folks could sit at the bar stools that was a shame no one thought of it. It was interesting that they allowed grads guest to sit in the extra seats on the main floor. That was good but I believe these folks just took it upon themselves to go sit down somewhere. The staff on the main floor accommodated I thought that was a positive. I'm sure they realized the situation. It was a wonderful day and visit. Thank you for being a part. Muskegon was beautiful. Loved this town.

It was constructed in 1894 and now houses the Muskegon County Convention & Visitors Bureau. very nice preserved station. Knowledgeable staff. Info. I had walked by this 19th century Industrial building with "Amazon" on it. No, it wasn't. It was an old fabric factory, upgraded to Condos. A short walk from the station is a World War-2 vintage LST (Landing ship, tank) open for tours. A little further down the coast line is a World War-2 vintage submarine, SS-236 "Silversides". Nice park along the water.

Muskegon Lake is a 4,232-acre freshwater coastal plain estuary that offers a variety of outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy hiking, fishing, and boating in the area. During the summer months, trolley services are available around both Lake Michigan and Muskegon Lake. The proximity to award-winning beaches makes it ideal for bringing bicycles along to explore the numerous bike trails in the city and throughout the county.
Not sure why you would got to Muskegon lake when you can go to lake Michigan but the views are great.
Brock B — Google review
This lake has a lot to offer. There are fish to be caught from many species. From gills, perch, bass, walleye, and pike are a few of the common species that are often targeted. If you can time it right in the fall you can fish for salmon as they start their journey from Lake Mi to the mighty Mo as the locals refer to as Muskegon River. This offers the fishermen with a smaller boat to battle a salmon on the end of the rod. Along with fishing, Muskegon lake can be a great lake to take the sailboat out and “catch a breeze”. With it’s location so close to Lake Mi. there is usually a good breeze to tame your skills on a sailboat.Beware of the shallow area with rocks in the center of the lake towards the west end of the lake. This could be easier to run into if you are boating at night and not familiar with this location. With the size of the lake there is usually plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the water. Even the room for the Lake Express to slide on through as well. If you are just boating through to head out to lake Mi. or spending the day on the lake, there is plenty to do for everyone here.

Fatty Lumpkins Sandwich Shack is a lively and vibrant eatery nestled in a bustling neighborhood. This small deli in downtown Muskegon offers an array of generous classic and innovative sandwiches, as well as salads. The menu features creatively named options like the Patty McFatty, which combines corned beef, pastrami, baby Swiss, and homemade coleslaw on light rye bread.
My son and I had the Fatty, my wife had the Italian and it has been by far the best sandwiches we've ever had. A local recommended the place to us and they were spot on the money with this place. Highly recommend and the staff were super awesome as well.

It’s not often I 5 star a restaurant/deli. This one was earned. The staff were super friendly. I had the pastrami sandwich and it’s the best I’ve had since the one I had at Carnegie Deli in NYC several years ago. The sides were also very good. Pricing was higher than average, but I’m very willing to pay it considering the staff and quality of the product produced. Well done!

We had the Italian sub and roast beef (we split) and both were excellent. The service was fast and presentation was great. The cashier also talked us through the menu and made helpful suggestions. This is a gem that should be protected at all costs!

Fatty Lumpkins is hands down one of the best lunch spots in Muskegon! We tried the K.C.’s Kickin’ Chicken and the Hammy Some Salami, and both sandwiches were incredible. The Kickin’ Chicken had just the right amount of spice with the buffalo chicken, provolone, and veggies balanced perfectly by the creamy ranch—flavorful without being overwhelming. The Hammy Some Salami was stacked with quality meats, fresh toppings, and a great crunch from the peppers and onion. Both came on fresh bread that really made the sandwiches stand out. The portions were generous, prices were fair, and you can tell everything is made with care. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and service was fast and friendly. If you’re looking for a fresh, delicious sandwich in Muskegon, Fatty Lumpkins is the place to go.
Chad — Google review
My husband and I were in town staying at an Airbnb with adult daughter, her husband and daughter. We kept reading great reviews various platforms about Fatty Lumpkins. We wanted to go our first day but it was after 3:00 pm and they were already closed. So we arranged to go a different day. Parking was difficult as it's a small place with mainly street parking with a lot of houses around. But there's a parking lot across the street and down that we parked in. I think it's allowed, we weren't ticketed or towed. When we walked in it was a tiny "shack" just got ordering and a few tables for eating but it was full with very little room. We figured we were obviously getting our sandwiches to go. We had just come from a museum so I needed to wash my hands and there was a sign pointing me to a restroom. Wow, am I glad I needed to wash my hands. Through the door I was led to another building which had lots of seating, was super cute and quaint complete with a chest set and jukebox. Plus the restroom. Between the two buildings there were a few outdoor tables and chairs too. Obviously it's just the newbies who don't know these things but if you are like us and only in town for a quick trip or first time visit, it's nice to know these things. The sandwiches were all good. A great variety to choose from and an option to create your own. The names are fun too. The meat and cheese were fresh and the sandwich bread/bun was some of the best I've had for a sandwich in a long time. I love vinegar and oil on a sandwich and that's how they make theirs. Oh, so good. Now I know why they came so highly recommended.

Stayed at an AirBnB a few houses away and was pleasantly surprised to find this little "hole in the wall" right down the road. We got the Hot Brown Roast Beef, Hammy Salami, Clucky You, and the Turkey Waldorf Salad. Everyone loved their food. We got there about 30 min after they opened and there was already a few cars out front and about 6 people in line inside. This place obviously has a following. Highly recommend and if I find myself in the vicinity again, would definitely go back!

Hackley Public Library is a historic gem in downtown Muskegon, with a rich history dating back to 1890 when it was funded by lumber baron Charles Hackley. The library boasts stunning features such as an Italian marble mosaic floor, ornate fireplaces, and antique furniture. It offers a diverse collection of books for all ages and provides amenities like private study rooms, computers, and a toy room for kids.
Wow, what an amazing library. This might be the highlight of our trip to Michigan. And we went through 24 different cities on this trip. If you love old buildings and architecture, you'll enjoy stopping here. Our beautiful hackley library of Muskegon Michigan. Yes we are proud. I did not post pictures of the glass floor you're going to have to visit if you would like to see that beauty. I wanted to leave some surprise for you. People take the library for granted. This building has so many resources under One roof wouldn't believe if you didn't see for yourself. I posted some in the photos. Not only is this library full of resources it also has a place for everyone. There is a place for babies all the way up to us Old-Timers. ;) The library is also extremely clean. It's very well kept. Whoever they have for housekeeping is wonderful.
Klaire P — Google review
I have lived in and around Muskegon for half my life, but today was the first time I have ever been in the Hackley library and I am not sure why it took me this long. We had a massive internet outage in Whitehall, so I needed a place to work and I went to the library. It was a great experience. The building is really beautiful. There are enough photos on here that already highlight that, so I am not adding any more at this point. It has Victorian charm that you would expect from a lumber baron era building, but with all the amenities of a modern library. My only knock was there was guy placing bets on a laptop for I guess his buddy who he had on speaker phone. That's kind of what you get around in Muskegon. I would have liked to have looked around more than I did, but it closed at 5PM.

If you have never been to this incredible library, I would say run, don't walk. Their are 2 stories to be discovered here. The top story is for kids. And seriously kids of all ages. They have so many book options for any age group and computers and a toy room for all kids. We love their summer reading program as well. They have so many DVDs, and games to rent out as well. The downstairs area is for teens and adults. They have private study rooms to rent out and they have a great selection of books. Take some time to discover this little gem right in the heart of downtown Muskegon.
Nicole B — Google review
Beautiful building, great staff and lots of tools available for the public like internet and many online apps. They host events for kids and adults throughout the year. Book selection is good, their kids second floor is great as they have things for kids to do and lots of books. Bathrooms are always clean. Only issue is theres no real privacy or separate areas if you need to study, but you can always check out the books and do it at home or use one of the many free online services available.
JC N — Google review
We're such a beautiful building I find that is only okay far as Library goes. There is no rooms that you can use for privacy and studying. They do have an acceptable computer lab but if you want to talk on the phone you have to literally stand in the lobby. There is no area for you to be able to drink or eat while you study or read. So yeah it's beautiful but it doesn't do much for if want to study or read at your own leisure. Plus I find they're collection of books subpar.

We have attended Michigan Irish Music Festival for years. We always have a fantastic time. There are many fun activities for kids and a large playground for them. There are so many tents filled with extremely talented musicians throughout the weekend. You can find so many Irish themed items and food choices to purchase. And, of course they have booze to drink. The one tent we always attend is the Irish Wake tent. A lovely couple explains the traditions surrounding the death of an Irish person, and how traditional customs came to be. The couple is so kind, they are so knowledgeable about Irish cultureand traditions, and they are great storytellers. I highly recommend attending the Irish Music Fest, and be sure to stop and learn about the Irish Wake.

It was an amazing event. The location was beautiful and the food was unhealthy but delicious!!!! I personally loved the fried ravioli and the butterfly chips. The whiskey tasting experience was mediocre with about 6 different types of whiskeys , I don't think the cost was justified. The beers where pretty good as well ....and the Music was just so energetic. The only negative for the entire event was that they use something called as the Barney bucks instead of real money/credit cards. I think it was 1$ for 1 ticket. I highly recommend buying these tickets as soon as you enter cause most of the items can be bought only using these tickets.

Muskegon South Breakwater Light is one of two historic lighthouses in the City of Muskegon. The South Pierhead Light occasionally offers inside tours during the summer and live webcams can be viewed on the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory website. Heritage Landing, once an industrial scrap yard, has been transformed into a lakefront gathering place with a park and community festivals. Visitors rave about the breathtaking sunsets at this beach, which also offers views of three separate lighthouses.
A beautiful view and sunset spot! Easy walk for most. There are some places that people could trip, so watch young children and adults that need walking assistance.
Becky F — Google review
Like many others say, this is a great spot to watch sunset. The path has a few areas that need repairs, though. Wheelchair /strollers could go all the way to the end if repair is done.
Junwoo L — Google review
A bit more than a half mile walk out to it. The first half is wide and smooth, the second is a little crumbly, some concrete missing, but not at all hazardous if you just watch your step. No signage to explain the historical significance, but still pretty cool to see.
Melody M — Google review
Nice walk out from The Deck watching the boats go back and forth and to get a photo or two of the lighthouse itself, as it happened today I also got a few snaps of mink (I thought it was an otter at first) with some fish it had caught.
Brian M — Google review
OMG....Breathtaking sunsets. Best sunsets I've ever seen have been at this beach. You have a view of 3 separate lighthouses. Pier that is nice and wide, runs along beach then curves and angles straight out into Lake Michigan and ends with a fantastic view on lake and 2 other lighthouses across the way for the harbor/channel for ferry that goes to Wisconsin.

Love walking here, beautiful surroundings. Has been pleasantly refreshing break from the warmer inland temps, even just a mile or two away. This is #puremichigan #watchusgomuskegon

Such a beautiful place to visit. I was here during the off season so I did not have to deal with as many people. But, it is definitely a cold and windy walk out to the light, so be prepared!
Justin P — Google review
Nice location right on the lake for a short walk or jog. A great place to view the snow clad lake shore in winter. In winters, the lighthouse maybe partially snow covered which offers a nice contrast to its red paint. Lighthouse is about a 10 mins walk from the parking and generally there is sufficient parking.

This section of the county museum showcases a retail space, the Occidental Hotel telephone exchange, and displays relating to Buster Keaton and Carlson's Grocery Store. Despite initial reluctance, one was pleasantly surprised by the diverse range of local artwork and crafts available for purchase. The store offered an array of products, ranging from custom woodwork to industrial-style items, as well as reasonably priced framed photographs.
First time here. Totally love it. So many talented people in our area. Found a table which was what I was looking for. Definitely will be back to shop here.

The owner is incredibly nice—like the kind of person who makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The prices are reasonable, and she even gave me a free chocolate truffle that was so good it almost made me forget why I came. This is definitely the spot to find a thoughtful gift for a loved one or a friend—or to treat yourself because you deserve it. 4/5—sweet place, sweeter experience!

What an amazing store. It has about 90 vendors selling homemade items, including candy/snacks and clothing that you can't find other places. It's like a craft show that's open all year and the vendors are always making new items to bring in. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I'm so glad I shopped there. It's my new favorite store.

A great place for home and desktop decor, whether a Michigander or a once-was passing through. Wife and I stopped by on way out of Muskegon. There are many vendors (consignment) showing off their craftsmanship. If you're looking for something fun, unique, or interesting, a good chance you'll find an item or three you'll like.

The Hackley-Holt House, located near the Amazon Apartments, was purchased by Joseph Hackley in 1860. Joseph was the father of Charles Hackley, a prominent lumber baron in Muskegon. This historic house is privately owned and not open for tours, but visitors can admire its exterior. While exploring the area, you may come across this charming home with a rich history.
This is currently a privately owned home and no tours are available. All you can do is see the house from the outside. I walked by the house today 5/26/2018 and there was a family sitting on the porch. They must have seen my bright yellow wristband and known I was a visitor. I asked from the sidewalk if I could photograph the house and one of the men said I could. You can go inside the firehouse across the street or the other homes, just not this one. Thanks for reading my review!

The Lake House Waterfront Grille and Event Center is a stylish eatery located on the shores of Lake Muskegon, offering a casual and unpretentious ambiance, delicious seasonal cuisine, and spectacular views. In the summer, guests can enjoy al fresco lakeside dining on the beautiful deck and outdoor bar, while in winter, they can savor a romantic dinner next to the cozy fireplace.
The calamari was delightfully light and seasoned with accompaniment. I enjoyed my first perch dinner that held nice light breading.

The lake house was so beautiful and delicious! I was looking for where to take my family for a nicer dinner on the 4th and this did not disappoint. The atmosphere was amazing, they had nice music playing in the background and it almost sounded live. Our server Brandon was very kind and gave lot of attention despite the restaurant being more crowded. Food took a little while to get to us, but everything tasted delicious! I especially loved the raspberry sorbet — very refreshing!

This restaurant is located in a very beautiful area. It’s designed for great indoor and outdoor dining with beautiful views of the lake and boats with a lovely viewing deck. The staff are excellent and very attentive. The food is good but could be better. We have been here on three occasions and the food can vary. I guess it depends on the day and who’s cooking. We ordered simple this time. The crab cake appetizer with a jalapeño bacon jam and slaw. The jam was incredible. The cakes should have been fried. They tasted maybe microwaved or baked. We both ordered burgers, which were prepared as requested but very dry, no seasoning. The bun was toasted, my husband had a hearty amount of fries, but paid extra for fries because the burger came with chips. I wanted a salad instead of chips and that was extra! We paid over $70 for two burgers an appetizer with 3 crabcakes and a pop! My husband did have a pop. I will say the rolls brought out while we waited were good. They were basil flavored rolls, with a garlic and basil butter. I guess we’re mostly paying for the view and service! We were celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary!
Rene T — Google review
We went to The Lake House for the first time with our best friends, for our wedding anniversaries. The setting is right on the lake, next to the marina, which is nice. My initial impressions were that the restaurant was clean, but felt a bit dated; like being ushered back in time to an 80s/90s movie, which my wife really liked. I felt like The menu was kind of small and the prices a bit high. Our food was very good, but our friends said the gnocchi had way too much sauce on it and the broccoli was overcooked. Our server, Bradley (I think) was phenomenal. We had the best time with him and he attended to our every need. He even hooked us up with free desserts for our anniversaries, which were amazing! We live about an hour away, so I don't think I'd ever drive that far again just to go there, but if you're in the area, it's worth checking out.

I can’t rate the food as I couldn’t get service. We were seated immediately, a waiter and waitress were working the booths in front and behind us but missed us somehow for over twenty minutes. As she passed, I tried to get her attention but was ignored.

Very nice restaurant right by the lake and look into the marina! Great selection of wine and beer with great lunch and dinner menu! Most impressive thing is the kitchen or chief can twist or alter the dish to your liking which was amazing! We have our perch cooked the we like and they accommodate it! Five stars just for that!

They have a lot of different aspects of the military on display and different wars! They have done a great job of restoring and preserving the history of this ship.

As a navy veteran I felt right at home exploring the ship. I highly recommend watching the video to the right of the gift shop because it shows how the LST approached a shore, unloaded its cargo, and then was able to exit the shore. I was amazed how much cargo a LST could carry. Do be advised the ladders (stairs) are very narrow and steep.

Capone’s Speakeasy and Restaurant is located in the Northtown 794 building, offering an intimate dining experience with chandeliers and tufted leather booths that pay homage to the prohibition era. The restaurant features a full-service bar specializing in period-correct cocktails and serves a classic Italian menu including Chicago-style pizza, sandwiches, appetizers, authentic Italian entrees, and salads.
Staff was really nice. Cocktails were really tasty. Service was a bit slow at first but the food was so worth the wait! For starters I highly recommend the cheesy garlic bread and the marinara sauce. Then for entrees, so many great choices. You cannot go wrong! Everything is really tasty. Portions are big, so there's a high chance you will have leftovers to bring home. Highly recommended!

This place is a hidden gem. Literally good luck finding the door. But that's all part of the atmosphere. You will feel transported to another place once you walk through the door here. The service is great. Atmosphere is quiet and cozy. Great for a few drinks or a hearty meal. Took my in laws here and we all tried something different everyone enjoyed their food and the portions were huge so be prepared to walk away with leftovers. Two of us tried pizzas. I had the Alphonse. It was delicious, as was my husband's shrimp and chicken vodka pasta. My father in law tried the shrimp scampi and loved it. The cheesy bread and calamari are so good. They had specialty drink there at the time called Al's Gone Bananas. It was amazing. Would partake again.

AMAZING. I was taken here for a surprise birthday dinner and man what a place. I ordered a pizza and it takes a little bit for the deep dish, I was watching other people's food come out and my mouth was watering. My pizza was so decadent, it felt high class. There was a dinner rush and our waitress was so nice and kept everyone topped up through it all. I dont care if I end up "sleeping with the fishes," Im telling all my friends about this excellent pizza.

😍😍😍 This restaurant is absolutely PHENOMENAL!!! FOR STARTERS, upon entering the restaurant, the Maitresse was dressed professionally and she had a friendly demeanor that was ready and willing to assist us. Also at the entrance, there was another woman sitting on a bar stool, and she also had a very friendly demeanor and was incredibly inviting. When we entered the actual restaurant, I immediately was taken back to a time period of history that reflected the 20's and 30's which was breathtaking! I absolutely LOVE history as well as visiting historical landmarks and this was a treat. Moreover, as a millennial, it was great to travel back in time based on the decor alone. The restaurant was strategically designed to reflect a time period in Chicago where Al Capone ruled the streets as a Mobster. In fact, his picture was hanging on the wall at the bar area due to the fact that the restaurant is named after him. The restaurant was small, but beautifully decorated to reflect a speakeasy coupled with class and elegance. The waitress was fabulous, friendly, professional, patient, and her demeanor was excellent overall. It took us awhile to figure out what we wanted because everything on the menu made our mouths water, but we eventually decided on MEATBALLS as a starter and we ordered a Deep Dish Pizza. 🧆 THE MEATBALLS WERE FANTASTICALLY-DELICIOUS, AND WE DEVOURED EVERY BITE that was delivered in a cast iron skillet!!! 🍕 THE PIZZA WAS MADE WITH FRESH INGREDIENTS AND THE TASTE WAS BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS...the chef nailed Chicago Deep Dish Pizza! 🌟 IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT in Muskegon Michigan that closely resembles the decor and TASTE OF CHICAGO, look no further than Capone's Speakeasy...you won't be disappointed I GUARANTEE IT!!! 🌟 ✅ Here's a word of advice...make sure that you make reservations if you plan on attending during the busiest time periods. The restaurant only has a select amount of available tables and booths plus a bar area...please keep that in mind.

Great service, vibe, and amazing food!! Tried a little bit of everything and it was all so good. Definitely will be a go to favorite when visiting the area. Highly recommend!
Noemi M — Google review
Great experience!! The restaurant can be quite busy with a bit of a wait time but its definitely worth it. We were seated right away the last time we went. Our waiter was excellent, always kept our drinks full, cleared our dishes & asked several times if we had questions about the menu or if we needed anything during our meal. There were three of us, we ordered a deep dish pizza which was perfectly done... it takes a bit longer to make but again, well worth the wait. We also another pizza but this one was Detroit style on foccacia bread... this pizza consisted of a lot of bread but it was mostly hollowed then stuffed with toppings, so delicious. Lastly, we ordered the famous Capones lasagna. Such a masterpiece dish! Unbelievably fantastic flavor with layers and layers of noodles, meat, cheese & tomatoes with lots of sauce. I highly recommend the food, service and pricing at Capones Speakeasy! The cost for the three of us was $84 without alcohol but with an appetizer and three fountain drinks. I believe the quality of the food, service and atmosphere justifies the cost. The atmosphere is calm, quiet with dim lighting... nice decor for the theme, tables are nicely spaced... we didn't feel as if we were dining too close to other groups. You won't be disappointed with a table at Capones Speakeasy in downtown Muskegon.

The Coffee Factory is a charming spot located in an old industrial building that has been repurposed into apartments and an event center. The place offers a cozy and inclusive vibe, with friendly staff who are accommodating to special orders. They are known for their killer almond dark chocolate mocha, although some customers were disappointed to learn about changes in their non-dairy chocolate usage.
Coffee was great as was the breakfast sandwich. Delicious options of pastries. One of my favorite is the peanut butter chocolate bar, much like the one they served at school lunches when I was a kid! Love the quirky eclectic decor, found a dreamy vintage jacket for sale. Good place to find a book for yourself or as a gift.

The coffee factory is a very quaint little spot. I love when coffee shops double as bookstores I think it's a terrific pairing! A cozy café in a renovated section of a huge old factory! Gluten-free OR gluten-free-friendly snack options are available every morning while supplies last (they're very good!) The prices are fair and basically the same as every other café I've been to-- it really feels like you're getting your drink and food AND the amazing experience for no extra cost. Vibes and music is always perfect for reading or working, or talking/chatting! The staff is always friendly and chill. Genuinely LGBTQ+ friendly, usually feels like a really safe and chill space. I would highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

Ryan G — Google review
This place is a favorite. Not only do they serve MadCap Coffee, but they have such interesting drinks and foods. I love this place because the delicatessen options they offer are not the same BS past and potato salad and boring sandwiches. I feel like I am back home in Colorado in a ski resort town with the options they have. They do vegan and gluten free baked goods, which is very important to me (multiple food allergies) so I can still get a sweet treat every so often and not have to bake myself a dozen cupcakes when I only want one. They also have fresh made antipasta type salads, the olive one is a favorite, but vegan beware, it has cheese. I love that there are other vendors from locals also set up in the shop, a vintage clothing store, a book store with gifts and books, a soap maker's shop, its all very "village chic" and community oriented. The furniture was all made by a local artist with supplies sourced from the very factory the shop is in. The outdoor patio is on the north side of the building which is great in hot summer days. I take friends here when we meet up for a quick lunch while shopping or scheming since everything is counter served. They also have sun lights at the booths to get some vitamin D when the weather wants to give you Rickets and Brittle bone disease. I love this place. I think it is one of my favorite places to frequent in Muskegon; such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. OH! AND they always have some sort of on season decoration up around the shop.

Muskegon Lake Nature Preserve offers a pleasant paved path with rustic trail offshoots for fishing access and multiple boardwalks with fishing decks, although some are affected by flooding. The property features two lookout decks providing beautiful views of the lake. It's a great spot for a quick hike, offering paved sidewalks through the treeline and turning into a boardwalk/bridge with benches and fishing spots. Visitors should be cautious about securing their vehicles due to reported theft incidents in the area.
We spent a lovely afternoon here spotting lots of wildlife despite it not being the best time of day. Sometimes you have to look hard but it’s there! Trail is well marked and the access is easy from the gravel park which was still quiet on a Sunday afternoon in early July.

The nature preserve is beautiful. We saw beautil plants, sand hill cranes, blue heron, green heron, etc. We followed the trail from Whitehall Rd to the end. Take water if it's hot, there aren't many water fountains. The trail runs through Lakeside so there are opportunities to leave the trail for lunch, ice cream, cold drinks.

Great little place for a quick hike! I'm sure there were other paths that you could take, but I went on what looked like the main path - it's a paved sidewalk that goes through the treeline at the edge of the lake. Very beautiful! Turns into a boardwalk/bridge with benches and spots for fishing. It's fairly short, probably only a mile or less and would be great for kids or strollers. The area is dog-friendly, but there are lots of bikers and joggers and few points to pull off to the side if your dog is excitable.

Great place to walk the dogs and enjoy nature! They have a pavilion, various picnic tables, various benches, various garbage cans, port-a-potty’s (including some handicap accessible on a cement slab), 2 outlook towers, boardwalks, various fishing spots, free entry (donation box at trail entrance) free parking for about 10-20 cars.

Going to be nice, but lots of work being done & more needed. Part of the paved path was under water, and a portion of the walkway on the other path was washed out. Boardwalk is in poor condition in places & shoddily repaired. Park is being restored, so lots of heavy equipment, downed trees, bare dirt & dirt piles. The work being done is to remove invasive species, concrete, debris, etc, so I am glad they are doing it.

The layout is easy to navigate, with four massive screens showing double features, so there's always something for everyone: action, horror, family flicks, or comedies. The staff is always friendly and efficient, especially during busy nights. The concessions stand has solid options: buttery popcorn, nachos, and classic movie candy—fair prices and quick service. The sound through the FM radio is surprisingly crisp, and the screens are bright and clear even from the back rows. What makes Getty special is the vibe: families with lawn chairs, couples curled up in blankets, kids laughing between movies. It's pure summer magic. Whether you're here for date night or family fun, this place never disappoints. Just bring bug spray, arrive early for the best spots, and settle in for a beautiful night of cinema under the stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) A Muskegon tradition that’s still going strong. Long live the drive-in! 👆👇🐥🥰⚡⚡💙😗😉.

I was looking forward to giving this a great review because we enjoy going to drive-ins so much. But one small slip can make a big difference. We went Monday night to watch Twisters and everything was great until the climatic final where things are settled. While people were being blown about, water tower tumbling, the sound had change to soft music that just didn't match the destruction. And it just kept going! Finally I went and told the concession stand that someone hit the wrong switch on screen 1 sound. It was fixed quickly then but not soon enough. Little things make big impressions.
Bradford K — Google review
Great place, no drama, a playground up in front of movie screen so you can entertain littles. Lots of snacks. You can rent a radio or use yours. & if you're car battery dies the theater employees jump your veichal. Lots of memories from childhood too. Sentimental place for me. Definitely plan on returning soon.

It had been a while since I had been to a drive-in movie theater. The Getty brought back many fun memories. Nothing bad to say. Well maybe one thing. The mosquitoes were pretty thick the night we went. Okay they were real thick. Bit my legs up bad. Wished I had brought insect repellent.
Jevon P — Google review
Such a cool experience. We went as a family and it was my 4yr olds first movie experience. It went so much better than going inside a theater. We were able to bring our own food/drinks and then for the 2nd movie my kiddos fell asleep so mom and dad got a little date night. We will absolutely go again!
Tyler H — Google review
The wife and I always love driving to Getty, setting up the back row of seats with blankets and watching a movie together! Staff is amazing here as well, always helpful and didn’t mention half off hot dogs after first movie finishes?
Dave D — Google review
It’s Fourth of July so I figured I’d take my kids just me and my two kids to see Elio and stitch. So we got here when the gates opened thinking we would need to get here early not the case. It was very open in fact for 45 mins I was the only car here. Now in that 45 mins I was asked to move closer to marker so we can fit two cars in between. Keep in mind now I’m the only car here. Then about 15 mins go by they wanted me to move back over where I was so I’m not blocking the un marked fire lane. Another 30 mins go by and they ask my kids to move those chairs more to the front of our car now there is only a total of 15 cars here at 930. Then now it’s we need to check your cooler. Ok sure I’ll let you search my imaginary cooler I have that’s not a cooler it’s a Milwaukee radio. Want to search my trunk for dope to or just harass a handicap man for trying to enjoy a a show outside. Finally I asked them why they are harassing me and they all never even checked my car or cooler 6 of them one of me and never checked my cooler ( aka Milwaukee radio
Tristen G — Google review
Fantastic, as always. The movie pairings were a little weird this time, but that's bound to happen sometimes. I'd recommend the Getty to anyone and everyone. Be sure to bring bug spray, just in case!

Nestled within the scenic Muskegon State Park, the Muskegon State Park Block House stands as a unique historical landmark that piques curiosity. This intriguing structure, although a replica and somewhat of an architectural folly, offers visitors a glimpse into the past. A short but steep hike leads you to its entrance, where you'll find it surprisingly quiet despite the nearby beach's bustle. While inside may not offer sweeping views due to surrounding trees, it's still worth exploring for its charm and history.
Short little steep walk up, the house is pretty neat! The trail by the parking lot was a little iffy, didn't want to go much further as it gets steeper
Shelby G — Google review
Seemed to me to be a strange place for a fort to be as there would have been nothing to defend here and as it turns out the block house is a bit of a folly and built as a replica. I rode out here on my bike just to see it and up the little steep climb to the entrance. Even though the road and car park were busy it appears that everyone was at the beach as the block house was deserted. It’s an interesting looking building but unfortunately there is no view whatsoever given the canopy of the trees. It’s also a shame the some have resorted to some vandalism writing their names on the inside and even worse an attempt to set a fire with some serious scorching in the roofline.
Brian M — Google review
Pretty cool structure, easy to get to as well, definitely worth the trip.

With easy roadside access and ample parking just steps from the water's edge, it’s perfect for families looking for a safe swimming environment thanks to its shallow waters extending far out. The beach provides plenty of space to find your own quiet spot even during busy summer weekends, making it less crowded than other popular beaches like St.
Very big, clean, well maintained! Be sure to pay for parking, they are issuing tickets regularly.. Have restrooms and change rooms. Picnic tables! Awesome beach

Beach (City Beach) Sands & shoreline: A sweeping 2.5 miles of soft, golden sand right on Lake Michigan. Clean, certified, and wide enough for everyone to find space. Facilities & features: Playground, volleyball courts, scenic walking trails, easy access to two historic lighthouses and the “USS Silversides” submarine, plus the lively “The Deck” BBQ bar/restaurant with live music. Crowd & atmosphere: Family‑friendly yet vibrant—popular without feeling claustrophobic. One reviewer on Tripadvisor says it’s “very safe and not too crowded as it is more family‑oriented”. Sunsets & scenes: Faces west—it’s known for those epic Lake Michigan sunsets. 👍 Highlights: Clean sand, amenities, culture, sunsets. 👎 Drawbacks: Can get busy on weekends; less ideal if you want solitude. 🏕️ Muskegon State Park Beach Expansive dunes & shoreline: Combines nearly 2 miles on Lake Michigan and 1 mile on Muskegon Lake, framed by sweeping dunes and trails . Natural ambiance: A quieter, more rugged beach experience. Users say it’s “quiet beach, nice and natural with dunes and grasses—no fudge shops here”. Camping-friendly: Adjacent to dual campgrounds and trail systems. One camper praised the proximity of parking and tailgating culture. Sport & adventure: Offers hiking, fishing piers, paddle sports on the lake, and even a winter sports complex. Excellent for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Considerations: Campsites can be tight and buggy for tent campers; cabins and RVs fare better . Some campers complain it’s crowded in summer. 👍 Highlights: Natural beauty, multi‑use park, camping, state‑run amenities. 👎 Drawbacks: Crowded campgrounds, limited privacy, occasional bugs in bathhouses. 🐕 Kruse Park (Dog Beach) Pet paradise: The go‑to dog beach—no time restrictions. A friendly, off‑leash haven for pups and people alike . Access: Open sandy beach with parking, restrooms, and picnic shelters. 👍 Highlights: Fantastic for dog owners, spacious vibe. 👎 Drawbacks: Not ideal if you prefer no pets at the beach. 🌿 Duck Lake State Park Wilder atmosphere: Smaller beach north of Muskegon with a calmer feel. Reddit users praise it for "warmer Duck Lake water" and serene stretches . Easy escape: Great for those who want quiet and a walkable escape from busy shoreline crowds. 👍 Highlights: Tranquil, fewer crowds. 👎 Drawbacks: Minimal facilities; more rustic than urban beaches. 📝 Community & Local Flavor Muskegon is trending as a premier beach-and-culture town—vibrant arts, breweries, and events mix with lakeside leisure . Additional Muskegon County beaches include Lake Harbor Park, Meinert, Moore, Pioneer Parks, etc., offering everything from camping to fishing and nature trails. 🔍 Reddit Voices “Second Duck Lake! The bonus is the (sometimes) warmer Duck Lake water and ever changing channel. Adequate parking without a sticker.” “Muskegon State Park is wonderful! Lots of variety of beach scenes to choose from.” 🧭 Final Breakdown & Recommendation Beach Vibe Best For Pere Marquette Energetic + convenient Families, culture, dining, sunsets Muskegon State Park Natural + varied Campers, hikers, bucolic seekers Kruse Park Canine-friendly Dog owners, pet lovers Duck Lake Quiet & serene Solitude seekers, peaceful outings ✅ My Overall Review: Pere Marquette Beach is your go-to for a lively, clean, and well-facilitated beach day with lots to do. Best beach in the area and I always come to get beautiful sunset pictures.
Chauntel A — Google review
Huge beach area. Parking is right off the road directly in front of the beach, and there is also a parking lot further down where the portable bathrooms, volley ball courts, kite sailing rentals, etc. are located. Be prepared to walk in fairly soft sand to get close to the water, but definitely worth it. The only downfall is the location of the portable bathrooms from this part of the beach, which is quite a ways away. Very clean and lots of room to roam.
Joanne D — Google review
There are so many options for nice beaches along the west Michigan coast but the Muskegon beach has to one of the best. Not only does it not as crowded as some others (like St. Joseph) but the shoreline is really wide and the sand is clean and soft. You can easily find a quiet spot even on busy summer weekends. The water is shallow quite a long ways in, so kids can easily play in the water. Thankfully, the beach is also pet free.
Mansoor N — Google review
Beautiful, clean beaches. Red sunsets. Parking is paid during the season. Great bar on the beach.
Kasia W — Google review
Good stretch of beach, easy access from the roadside, no amenities, no bathrooms, not ultra wide but decent to lay on. Clean ish and has trash cans. All in all it works and the sand is pretty good. Soft enough for a beach experience.

The gentleman hosting was extremely helpful, gave tips, and encouragement that really made the whole experience that much better. In addition, I really like the atmosphere they are building for downtown. They had foosball, chess and other boardgames available to sit and play for those not throwing. The Muskegon Lakeshore Trail is a picturesque destination that beckons outdoor enthusiasts to explore its scenic beauty along the shores of Lake Michigan in Muskegon, Michigan. Ideal for both walking and biking, this trail offers an enjoyable experience as it winds through stunning landscapes and vibrant areas. Starting at the North Muskegon trailhead near Rite Aid on Lake Street, cyclists can embark on a delightful journey along the boardwalk that runs parallel to the causeway past the power plant.
The trail itself is actually pretty nice. It's great for a leisurely ride or walk. The areas it goes through are what it make it what it is. You get a lot of great scenery and great places to stop. The only downsides, it can flood over after rains and has several blind corners. So if you're flying on your bike you could come smack into someone. Worth checking out the entire trail!
Adam S — Google review
The bike trail in Muskegon is beautiful ! I would recommend that you launch your bikes at the North Muskegon trail head located across from the Rite Aid store on Lake Street. Then proceed to the boardwalk that parallels the causeway past the power plant. The trail will take you over rail bridges to downtown Muskegon and Heritage Park. You can make stops along the way for lunch and drinks at places like the Tipsy Toad .Then , on to the Lakeside area where we often visit the Marine Tap Room for a pizza or Prime Rib sandwich. The trail continues to Pete Marquette Park where you can stop at The Deck or at Dockers for Sustinence ! Views of Muskegon Lake, Lake Michigan and the sand dunes with abundant wildlife including the other bike riders will keep you amazed ! See ya on the trail !
