Bodies of Water
Shirahama Beach is a popular destination on the Izu Peninsula, known for its bustling atmosphere and stunning natural beauty. The beach features white sand and turquoise waters with picturesque mountain views. It is a part of Shimoda, a charming beach town that offers various attractions such as hotels, restaurants, and beach shacks. While Shirahama Beach is the most popular choice for many visitors, some opt for the neighboring and less crowded Shirahama Ohama.
Very beautiful white sand beach that was not crowded. You can rent sunbeds and a parasol for the day for a reasonable price. Beach security and a few locals ladies were going around keeping the beach clean. There is a 7/11 just across the street, offering ice cold drinks, snacks and beach necessities. All in all a very relaxing experience.

Nice beach! Water is great but the sand is getting a bit darker. We noticed a lot of jellyfish so be careful! Many dead in the sand, we saw 2 in the water.
Ellen — Google review
Beautiful sand and great waves! Doesn’t have a fresh water shower, but has a creek + at the surf rental shop you can pay for a shower🌊🏄‍♀️🌞
Sunii — Google review
Shirahama Beach — just wow! White soft sand, crystal clear turquoise water and gorgeous views. The beach is well maintained, has everything you need. The atmosphere is calm, especially in the morning. A bit crowded in season, but still one of the best places to relax by the sea in Japan. Highly recommended! 🌊☀️
RiSa — Google review
Beautiful beach. I guess I like it because I will never ever set my foot there in season! Love walking along the shore in October - November when sand barriers has been set up. Parking is a bit of a drag though.
Herr D — Google review
Tattoo Friendly! We saw so many people with them and no one minds. Its an amazing beach! Great quality sand and parking is on the beach. A side note about parking, they close the lots at 1600. We tried to find 24hr parking but had no luck. So try searching before you arrive!
KJ — Google review
Very much worth the hype. Crowded in the summer, of course. Separate space for surfers and swimmers. Multiple shower spots (paid). Busses cone and go, but they're often late due to traffic. Wear sunscreen! Rent an umbrella if no tent!
Richie H — Google review
On July 6, 2025, I visited the beautiful Shirahama Beach with some of my Bangladeshi brothers — and it was truly unforgettable! The scenery was breathtaking — crystal-clear blue water and lively waves made the entire beach feel vibrant and full of life. We spent almost 4 hours enjoying the beach and joyfully playing balloon ball. #There’s no free shower facility. But, coin-operated showers are available near the beach entrance — 10 minutes for 300 yen. #You can also rent swimming rings nearby to enjoy the water and waves more comfortably. #Convenient stores like 7-Eleven and Lawson are also available near the beach, making it easy to grab snacks, drinks, or essentials. It was an amazing tour — full of relaxation, games, and shared laughter. The beach was clean, the atmosphere peaceful, and the memories priceless. Definitely a spot I’d recommend visiting!

Kisami Ohama beach is a popular destination for surfers due to its long, undeveloped white-sand beach. It is considered one of the best beaches in the world and can be completely empty at certain times of the year. Free parking is available but subject to fees during summer season. Visitors should beware of high tides which can sweep away belongings. There are some restaurants nearby and vending machines in the parking lot.
This is literally the best beach in the world. If you come at the right time of year it’s completely empty. There’s free parking available although subject to fee during the summer season. Watch out for the high tide as I’ve personally seen people’s belongings get swept away. There are a some restaurants around and the parking lot has a few vending machines.
Alex Y — Google review
This is quite a nice beach. There is plenty of space, nice sand, and nice ocean. There are only a few food options nearby, though. Also, there is not really much in terms of facilities (toilets, showers, water, etc).
Rainer M — Google review
Great beach, easy access to water, it's shallow for a long stretch so you can really enjoy it. Still has some rocks so you can also take nice pictures. No shower as far as we know.
Blanka K — Google review
Superb Beach. Not much crowded. White sand and beautiful. Easily accessible.
Saurabh K — Google review
For swimming is a little bit dangerous but the beach is very beautiful. I recommend this beach if you have time please visit there
Zaw K — Google review
Lovely beach with white sand. Went on a Friday during the summer so it was not very busy. Quite a few surfers here. Plenty of parking space and you can rent parasols and body boards
Juan G — Google review
Great beach in Shimoda. Wide, clean, and on good days, there are some good waves to do boogie boarding and surfing etc. Tend to get crowded on summer weekends (and Japanese school holidays), but far better than those much closer to Tokyo.

Beaches
Tatadohama Beach, located in Shimoda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a popular destination for surfers and beach enthusiasts. The beach features soft sand, warm waters, and a long coastline with sweet waves that make it ideal for water sports like surfing. Accessible by bus from Izukyu-Shimoda Station, the area offers a casual atmosphere with surfers changing in and out of wetsuits and families enjoying activities like bodyboarding.
A small sandy beach that was virtually deserted, but clearly beloved of surfers. There were a few trying the rather small waves. Either end of the beach holds points of interest - a natural tunnel rough the rock to the sea (used for small boat launching) at one end and some wild rock formations and caves at the other. The area isn't built up at all. I was here early April, so off-season.
Jeremy F — Google review
Great beach, the water is super clear & clean compare to Minami Izu Beach. They also have toilets & you can rent parasols, floats & chairs. The water is a bit cold. BUT one annoying thing : for weather ever reason the beach parking closes at 5PM and the workers starting calling your call at 4:30PM although they know you still have 30minutes to go… Nothing surprising considering we’re in Japan & deinfitely not known to be flexible but weird that a public parking “closes” & that even before sunset! Anyways, at least they allow music & drinking on thsi beach
Aurélie P — Google review
Small, Clean white sand beach with crystal clear water. Swimming accessories rental shops, restaurant, dressing rooms, restrooms available nearby. Parking is available. Best place for surfers. Rocks are too sharp, better avoid going near them in order not to get hurt.
Booban B — Google review
Beautiful beach. The waves was strong this day and many surfers are there. We were sitting on the concrete parking lot, watching the waves feeling the sea breeze.beautiful memory. I could stay there all day. I climb up the rocks and found private beach on the right but then later I found out on google map it was an actual private beach for the hotel.
Nut K — Google review
Had a morning run along the beach, very relaxibg, people also do surfing in winter, must be very crowded in summer
Teddy T — Google review
Very Beautiful and clean beach. Note if it is not the summer season yet, no changing or shower place!
Ghada A — Google review
So far, the nicest beach I have seen in Japan (I haven’t been to Okinawa yet). A little long journey from Kanagawa, but so beautiful. The beach/chair rental places charge a bit too much, but food kiosk has reasonable prices. The beach is awesome, very clean with much brighter sand than other places.

Beaches
Sotoura Beach is a great alternative to the crowded Shirahama Ohama Beach. It's perfect for various activities like swimming, snorkeling, and sea kayaking. The beach offers clear and beautiful ocean water with opportunities to spot marine life such as crabs, hermit crabs, shrimp, and small fish. Restrooms, restaurants, and shops are available nearby for convenience. The waves are gentle here compared to other beaches in Shimoda, making it suitable for families with children.
Good beach with hardly any people however by the time we left, a lot more people were arriving. The water was mostly clear and basically no waves so you can swim/float freely! There are toilets but no showers. Free parking though compared to the main Shirahama beach.
Valerie X — Google review
Not a great experience for our family with young kids—several dead fish and a good amount of trash washed up on the shore. And random pokey things in the sand that hurt our feet. Probably a better beach experience if you’re there to swim and not play in the sand.
Sarah S — Google review
The beach was beautiful and very calm. No waves at all. Also almost nobody in the morning but there is no convenience store nearby. The shower and toilet is dirt and smelly, I think no one used in a long time.
Vitor K — Google review
Calm, clear, and relaxing cove that is not crowded. If you prefer peace, this is the best beach to go to.
Lyndon ( — Google review
Scenic beaches. Absolutely this place is worth a visit! The ocean water is very clear and beautiful. We found crabs, hermit crabs, shrimp, and lots of little fish on the rocks on the beach! Restrooms and restaurants are also available on this beach. The waves on Shimoda's beaches tend to be high. However, the locals tell us that this beach is suitable for small children because the waves are weak. Shimoda Station provides information on some of the beaches to see if swimming is allowed that day. Other beaches were closed for swimming due to high waves, but this beach was still open for swimming that day! Perfect beach for families!
Rintaro — Google review
Not as crowded as Shirahama beach. Out of the beaches in Shimoda, Sotoura is our top pick. It is family friendly and you can definitely have a good time with your kids. Waves are not that strong. They have public showers which costs 500yen per 5 minute and some floaters rental. The parking lot is conveniently located so you don’t have to worry much if you have lots of stuffs to bring.
セノウエプリンセス — Google review
We went in early October and it was still warm. It was easy to park next to the beach. It’s good because you can beat some of the crowds at the surrounding beaches, but there was more trash than is comfortable in the sand and in the water. If I could give it a more specific rating it would be 3.8, but 4 stars because it’s actually a decent beginner-friendly surf spot too.

Beaches
Nabetahama Beach is a small but popular spot in Shimoda City, known for its calm waters and accessibility. While the shore can be rocky in some areas, it offers clear water and opportunities for snorkeling near the rocks. The beach is relatively quiet and not crowded, making it a great place to relax or enjoy family time. Although there are no nearby restaurants or bathing corners, visitors can still have a pleasant beach experience with swimming and playing in the sand.
Absolutely stunning beach, not too many people when we went. Good vibes
Jason F — Google review
Beach is small and quaint. At the time we were there it had lots of washed up grass and wood. Shallow for the kids which was really nice. Water was clear. We could see fish jumping out of the water.
Kimberly D — Google review
Great small white sand beach near Shimoda. Not privatized by hotels, fishing or diving. Life guards in summer. Toilets and working showers free. Calm water. Good snorkelling around the rocks. Parking is expensive, ¥1500 to 2000 no matter how long you stay.
Douglas A — Google review
Maybe my beach reviews are skewed because I’m Australian, but this beach was just too small for it to be enjoyable! There were a lot of people snorkeling and some with kayaks so we didn’t stop for long. It’s on a skinny road and there’s a parking lot just back the road you then have to walk down. I was there mid morning on a weekday and I personally wouldn’t stay with the amount of people. Again, maybe just cause I’m Australian but when the beach is busy I’m used to just driving down the road to a different one lol.

Izukyū-Shimoda Station is a bustling hub in Shimoda's business district, offering easy access to the city's attractions. Just steps away from the station, visitors can embark on a scenic journey via the Shimoda Ropeway to reach the picturesque Nesugatayamasancho peak. Additionally, a charming guesthouse in Minami-izu is conveniently located just a short drive from the station, providing a peaceful retreat near the renowned Yumigahama beach.
One great hub train station for cyclists with hefty heavy bags. Still, hope the station facilities and service systems get friendlier to bicycle users.
Xiro ( — Google review
Nice station. Last stop for several trains. The station is really the heart of the quiet town of Shimoda. Trains do not run often so don't be late or you'll be waiting forever

Nice station, the shops selling local produce are great. If you want an ekiben from the ekiben shop you need to get in quick as they sell out quick!!
Amanda C — Google review
Take a bus from Bus stop number 10 to Tsumekizaki for daffodil festival. Bus available for Ryugu sea cave also.
Saurabh — Google review
The ropeway is very close to the station. The train frequency to Ito station is less. There is McDonald’s and lawsons outside the station. Also you can catch a bus to the Ryugu sea cave from here. Coin lockers are also available. Waiting room with free wifi is available.
A M — Google review
Best tourist spot to enjoy summer in beach. Small train station but we'll maintained. Izukyo line and limited express trains available from here. Well connected to major parts of Tokyo and Atami. The platform gates open before only 15 mins of the train. Only limited trains are there it's best to plan in advance.
Booban B — Google review
Got to love a classic train station like this. Feels like going back in time a little.
Noam E — Google review
Not covered by Seishun Juhachi Kippu. I only wanted to go as far as the seishun kippu allowed, and for Izu, it's only up to Ito station. Even though the map says this is a JR station, apparently the trainline, the blue one, isn't with JR. Station attendants asked me to pay but I said I didn't know and just went back on the train to Ito without leaving the station. Would have been nice to see Shimoda, but I got places to go with my seisshun kippu, and this is off the list now.

Shirahama Central Beach, located in Nagata Ward, offers a picturesque promenade along the bay with clear waters and relatively fewer crowds on non-weekend days. The beach is known for its clean white sand and convenient access to restrooms and shower facilities. While it can get crowded during peak times, visitors can still enjoy people-watching and various water activities such as surfing. However, caution is advised due to the presence of large rocks in the water.
Went surfing here recently. Pretty good size head high waves (late April). Great power but a bit beach break. Definitely when overhead a short board riding spot.

The water and the beach are super clean. The toilets around not so much. There’s a 7/11 and a bus stop right in front of the beach. They don’t care about tattoos, so everybody is welcome :)

I generally avoid this beach since it's way too crowded on weekends or obon season. However if you visit it on a non-weekend day, it's not too bad. The water is clear and you can easily get drinks and food from nearby convenient stores. People watching is a scene on its own. :)

Kujuppama Beach is a small, secluded beach located southeast of Shimoda. Despite its hidden location, it's popular among visitors looking for a quieter beach experience. The calm waters make it ideal for snorkeling and swimming, and the surrounding views of mountains add to its charm. Visitors can enjoy ample space for sunbathing and swimming, with facilities such as food stands, rental shops, showers, and toilets available.
This place was by far the most beautiful in the area. I should choose this beach to visit in the first place cause it has a such nice ocean view. It also has structure for long stay, like shower and toilets. I highly recommend it!
Rafael I — Google review
Great for snorkelling. Some of the coolest fish we've seen on the north end of the beach. Quite dense. It's a quiet Sandy beach as well. The showers in the car park are all out of order and the toilets are a bit manky, so getting changed was a problem. Also it's a steep 200m walk/stairs from the car park to the beach.
Douglas A — Google review
Nice small beach! If you go early will be almost empty. The sand in the back is a bit ugly. Walk from the parking is about 8min, there is like 2 ways, get the one close to the parking so you can have some shadow on the way. Also good for snorkeling, we saw a few fish.
Ellen — Google review
A beautifully located beach which unfortunately is spoiled by all the litter lying around. This beach is very quiet and has plenty places to relax and swim/snorkel, however unfortunately there is excessive litter and rubbish along the shoreline and between the rocks. There was also a stagnant pool of water which had some little floating about in it. It made what should be a beautiful beach very disappointing. There really should be regular beach cleans happening here.
Darren M — Google review
I bagged a lot of pet bottles these days than last year. Small tent is available not too crowded and the beach itself is gorgeous parking fee is 1000 yen. Stayed here for a week and I keep on coming back.

Worth a visit if you are in Shimoda. Was here end of September during the week, took a small rental E-Bike at the shop across the main station and rode all the way here. On the right side it's nice for snorkeling near the rocks. Small waves, good for children. Bring drinks and snacks.

Scenic spot
Ryugu Sea Cave is a stunning natural wonder located in Shimoda, at the southern tip of the Izu Peninsula. This round sea cave boasts a large hole in its roof, offering panoramic ocean views from the crater edge. The area surrounding the cave is heart-shaped when viewed from above, making it a popular spot for romantic outings. The cave has been eroded over centuries by the ebbing waves and has become a well-known tourist attraction, featured in commercials and television dramas.
Nice place to visit. The stairs is narrow so it's best to anticipate others movements in order to pass. There's a rope across the cave to avoid people entering the beach area, but still the view is mesmerizing to take a few pics and videos to revive the moment later on.
Juan M — Google review
The Longgong Grotto is a cave formed by natural forces with an expansive skylight of 50 metres in diameter. It is a compact, enchanting spot that can be enjoyed in less than an hour.
Tsukasa M — Google review
Just a few steps down to the beach cave from the parking above (costs ¥500) which also has toilet facilities. There’s no access to the water or beach, as a chain blocks access. On the day we visited, there was a lot of red seaweed. You can walk around the top for some great views of the ocean. Nice for photos but not ideal for beach access.
Adventure B — Google review
The sea cave was a hidden gem and pleasantly unexpected. Walking down the stairs into the tunnel brings you to the beach and the uniqueness of the cave itself. You can also follow the trail up and above the sea cave for a 360 view which only took about 10 minutes and was a moderate hike. This place is mostly for picture taking and not for swimming. Expect to pay ¥500 for parking.
Annie S — Google review
A small cave you can walk to from the 500 yen parking lot. They have plenty of parking available. There are also rest rooms here so it makes for a nice stop on a drive around the Izu coast. You can also walk to the top of a small hill from where you can look into the cave and see the nearby sand dunes.
Matthijs — Google review
It was a beautiful place but the cave was smaller than I expected. A parking lot man told me there is a heart shape spot but I couldn’t find it. I paid 500yen to park my car but I don’t know it’s worth it.

Nestled on a hill, Shimoda Park, also known as Shiroyama Park, is a picturesque destination that offers breathtaking views of the bay and ocean from its three observatories. This scenic park is particularly famous for its stunning hydrangeas that bloom in vibrant shades of purple and blue each June, attracting flower lovers and photographers alike. Beyond its natural beauty, Shimoda Park serves as a historical landmark reflecting the town's significant role in Japan's relations with the Western world.
hydrangea is in full bloom in the Ajisai park in Shimoda city now. The market in the plateau has a good selection of specialty coffees and in-season local summer orange juices that satisfy different sizes of purses. A statue of a good American is fondly remembered among colourful blossoms.

Shimoda Castle Ruins, also known as Ushima Castle, was originally built in 1588 by the Hojo clan for coastal defense. Although it was extensively renovated and later turned into a park, it is now closed to the public. The castle's location on a peninsula offers stunning views of Shimoda Bay and features remnants of earthworks and trenches. Despite its closure, the site remains an intriguing historical landmark with ties to Japan's founding.

Depending on the season, it can be very rewarding. The ruins of the castle tower are at the top, so although the path is well maintained, you will have to climb quite a bit to reach it. (Translated by Google) Information about Shimoda Castle can be found at the Shimoda Museum. Shimoda Castle was a mountain castle built by the Gohojo clan in the late Sengoku period to protect a naval base in preparation for a confrontation with the Toyotomi army, and was also known as a pirate castle. It is a natural fortress that makes good use of the terrain, with earthworks and a dry moat that has no water, giving it a different atmosphere from other castles in Japan. As a result, it seems that the Toyotomi army was overpowered by the overwhelming number of soldiers. The Shimoda Castle ruins are located on top of a hill in Shimoda Park, where the Monument to the Founding of Japan is located. Even though it was a sunny holiday, there was no one else there when I visited in the afternoon, and I was afraid that a bear might come out while I was walking, so I couldn't calmly look at the earthworks and dry moat. There are reports of bear sightings in Minami Izu in the fall of 2023. The view of Shimoda City from the Shimoda Castle ruins was quite nice with the pointed hat-shaped Shimoda Fuji giving it a peaceful atmosphere. Hirizo Beach, located near Tokyo, is a popular spot for snorkeling and observing vibrant marine life. Accessible by a short boat ride, the beach boasts crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. However, it can get crowded during peak season. Visitors recommend arriving early to secure parking and space on the boats. The rocky beach offers excellent visibility for observing various coral fishes but may require bringing your own chairs or air mats due to limited sandy areas.
Superb... Excellent snorkling site outside Okinawa. During peak season this tiny beach will be horrible crowded but at the end of season (September) this tiny beach almost like private beach. Rocky beach has Crystal visibility, plenty various of coral fishes. Marine boot is mandatory, except rock and other sharp objects the beach also has many poisonous Stone fish. Absolutely recommend
Pieter A — Google review
The snorkeling area is nice as it's an enclosed area surrounded mostly by rocks. You need to get quite a bit out to be deep enough to swim. You will definitely need some shoes for the water as there's sea urchins and sharp rocks that I would not suggest walking barefoot on. Once you're further out though, the water and marine life is really nice. Biggest negative is how crowded it is and having to arrive super early in the morning for parking. Most cars started waiting as early as 3am to get a parking spot. Then there's a lot of waiting until the boats start running at 8am with a huge queue of people waiting to board it. After arriving at the beach, everyone sets up their massive tents so it's a bit of a pain to walk and get around the rocks.
Bryan C — Google review
Hirizo beach is a very nice “beach”, just made out of only rocks everywhere, very small and so easily crowded. The view is very nice and snorkeling activity is ok, but too many staffs yelling at you not to swim here or there . Include also 2000¥ boat trip for one person and 2 min transportation to the beach.
Bonjour T — Google review
Probably the best spot for snorkeling around Kanto area. However, you need to get to the port really early like 5am to get a parking lot and put your stuff to secure your spot in a line for a boat. Also, there will be so many people in a small area. A sand area is very limited. Other space is stones and rocks. You must take your chairs and/or air mat. Japanese people like to stay in tents so they’ll block your view.
Hiroki I — Google review
That's incredible that you can find such a tropical place so relatively close to Tokyo. Arrived at Nakagi Port you can purchase for 1500 yen (as of 2018) a return transfer ticket, and boats are linking the bay every 5 minutes. However, beware the crowd of midsummer weekends. If possible go a little off season (like in mid September) and on a weekday.
Davide C — Google review
Secluded little beach with a small cove for snorkeling. Lots of fish and coral. The beach is very small and can get crowded. It's made of rocks so foot protection is a necessity! Unless you bring folding chairs don't expect to lounge comfortably either. There are no facilities but the boat to the harbour goes every 10 minutes orso. Recommended if you're in the area and a little out of season!

One of the best area for snorkeling in Kanno area.. There are very clear water and tropical fishes. Boat access only from Nakagi. Boat fee is 1500yen/person, parking 1000yen/vehicle. Once you paid boat fee, You can take boat many times for toilet, food... Because beach don't have anything. It takes 5min from Port to beach.

Kawazuhama Beach, located in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a serene and less crowded spot that offers a peaceful retreat. Visitors can enjoy the stunning Kawazu zakura blossoms along the Kawazu River before reaching the beach. The breakwater ensures gentle waves and a tranquil atmosphere. While not a typical sandy beach, it boasts natural beauty with its unique coastline featuring rocks and pebbles.
Not a swimming beach but i enjoyed my time dipping my feet there. There are quite a lot of items getting washed up Shore including junk, seaweed, wood shreds, shells, dead sea lives, Corals, etc... can go on a treasure hunt and you may find something you like

After a leisurely 3-kilometer-walk of enjoying the cherry blossoms along the Kawazu River, we reached Kawazuhama Beach where the breakwater offshore ensures a peaceful beach with gently lapping waves. Kawazuhama Beach (Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan), is not well known, which helps keeps the crowds to a minimum. The beach itself is not that big, but offers a chance to take some nice sunrise photos or maybe even have a barbecue during summer. Although driving to the beach offers opportunities to see more of the local area (162 km southwest of Tokyo), you can easily reach the beach within a 6-minute walk of Kawazu Station on the JR Izukyuko Line.

I went here the first week of march and so many people are here. They enjoy the Kawazu zakura and then enjoy lunch at the beach. Saw many family bring their picnic basket and mat and enjoy the sun and breeze at the beach while enjoying lunch and the kids run around playing with water. The scenery is okay. The water is blue but it is not a white sand. I hope people (especially foreigners) are more conscious about leaving trash in here since the cleaning staff looks so tired picking up trash. Anyway a great place and deffinitely want to visit here again!

(Translated by Google) There's nothing here. Although it is supposed to be a beach, it is only a dirty sandy beach full of garbage. There are no rocky shores, just artificial wave-dissipating blocks. You can enter from the side of the entrance to the hot spring hotel Kaiyutei, but there is no fence at the mouth of the Kawazu River, so please refrain from testing your mettle in groups with flashlights in hand in the middle of the night. If you fall two meters down the cliff, you will die if you do something wrong. You just become a ghost. When you look at Kaiyutei from the coast, you can see the guests eating. It's very awkward. The impressions of people who visited during the cherry blossom festival are generally as follows. In the summer, it might start to look a little more like a beach.

I went during the weekday so not much people were there. (And during the hot days lol) So we got some amazing pictures and were able to take our time to check out the shrine (make sure to visit the seaside torii towards the beach) To get to the torii there’s a path on the right as you’re heading towards the main shrine. Kawazu Nanataki Loop Bridge, also known as Kawazu Nanadaru, is a picturesque series of seven waterfalls nestled in the Izu inland mountains. The well-maintained walking trail connects these stunning waterfalls, which have inspired famous poetry and are depicted in statues along the trail. The bridge provides a spectacular view of the loop and offers convenient access to the steep mountains of Amagi and Kawazu on the east coast.
The Kawazu-Nanadaru Loop Bridge is a double spiral bridge with a height of 45 m (148 ft), 80 m (260 ft) in diameter, and a total length of 1,064 m (3,491 ft). From the direction of Shimoda/Kawazu Station, it goes uphill counterclockwise, and from the direction of Izu/Amagi Tunnel, it goes downhill clockwise. It loops 720 degrees (or 360 degrees twice). The carriage is one lane on each side, but the speed limit is limited to 40 km (25 mi) per hour to prevent the danger of vehicles passing through this bridge, and overtaking is prohibited. In addition to cars and motorcycles, bicycles can also pass through. Wiki

Kuwazu Station in Shizuoka is a charming rural railway station that offers a nostalgic and authentic Japanese countryside experience. As a traveler seeking off-the-beaten-path destinations, I was drawn to this quaint station, and it left an indelible impression. Nestled amidst lush green fields and picturesque landscapes, Kuwazu Station's tranquil setting immediately transported me back to a simpler time. The station's traditional wooden architecture and well-preserved vintage appearance exude a timeless charm, making it a delightful sight for both history buffs and photography enthusiasts. The station's limited train service schedule added to its rustic appeal, reflecting the unhurried pace of life in the countryside. Despite its small size, the station staff was warm and welcoming, embodying the spirit of Japanese hospitality. Adjacent to the station, I discovered the "Yui Rail Walk" pathway, a scenic route that meanders through the picturesque countryside, providing an opportunity to immerse myself in the natural beauty of Shizuoka. Kuwazu Station is more than just a transit point; it serves as a gateway to the traditional rural life of Japan. The unspoiled surroundings and peaceful ambiance create a perfect setting for contemplation and relaxation. In conclusion, Kuwazu Station in Shizuoka is a hidden gem that offers a glimpse into the timeless charm of rural Japan. Its serene and nostalgic atmosphere, combined with the beautiful countryside, make it a must-visit destination for travelers seeking an authentic and tranquil experience. Whether you're a railway enthusiast or simply seeking a peaceful escape, Kuwazu Station promises an unforgettable journey through the soul-stirring landscapes of Shizuoka.

Get extremely crowded in the sakura season. The station is a bit old and there is no toilet inside the gate. You can find toilet outside. The IC Card charge machine can only accept ¥1000 each time so if you need to charge your IC card more than one thousand yen, you need to do it several time. The scenery from the platform is beautiful. The staff is extrmely helpfull. Odoriko train finish at 17.00 but local izukyu train run until 21.00

The main station for the local cherry blossom viewing called "Kawazu Sakura(河津桜)". Every year in this town, it holds the cherry blossom festival during February 10th to March 10th.

A place to enjoy early Sakura blooming in February and you can walk to the beach not far away from the station

(Translated by Google) I always stop by when I go to Shimoda 😆 This time I stayed at a rental villa for 3 nights and 4 days, so I went there every day! ️100 grams of Ise shrimp were on sale for around 750 yen, so I bought them every day😱 You can buy the biggest spiny lobster for around 3000 yen👍I think it's probably a good deal! ️ There's a conveyor belt sushi restaurant on the second floor, but it's full as soon as it opens 😨There's a lot of toppings you can't get anywhere else, so I think you should definitely go there 🎵 When the parking lot is full, you can park a little further away, so you don't have to worry about it 👍By the way, I don't know if it's Kinmedai⁉️, but 😅There's a restaurant where there's a long line ❗I'd like to try it someday, There's always a line...💧The souvenir shop also opens around 8:30 in the morning, so it's pretty good🙋 (Original)

The fresh fish corner is not very large, but you can buy golden sea bream, spiny lobster, abalone, and their processed products. You can also buy ice packs to take home at the register, so you don't have to worry about bringing your own.

Yumigahama Beach, located in the Minato Area, is steeped in legend and history. According to local lore, quarried rocks were transported via canoes and rafts along the Aono River to reach this picturesque beach. From there, they were loaded onto larger ships bound for Edo (Tokyo). This fascinating tale is commemorated through a mountain trekking tour known as the Kano Legend.
(Translated by Google) There is a vending machine nearby. A pine tree blocks the view of Yumigahama from the rooftop to the sea. (Original) 近くに自販機あります。 屋上から海側は、松の木が邪魔していて、弓ヶ浜が見れません。
