Aquarium
Nature & Parks
Located in a nature park, Shinagawa Aquarium offers an immersive experience with marine life and animal shows. Visitors can observe living organisms up close and even participate in feeding sessions while learning from caretakers. The aquarium boasts diverse exhibits including dolphins, sea lions, seals, penguins, sharks, and features an underwater tunnel. Formerly known as Epson Shinagawa Aqua Park, it is now officially called Maxell Aqua Park.
Really nice aquarium that's suitable for all ages. It's a lot cheaper than other options around Tokyo, with almost half the price of Aqua park near Shinagawa station. On the map, it looks close to the nearest station, but because of the highway, it takes about 8 minutes. There are posters and explanations in both Japanese and English. But for the shows, such as the dolphins and the seals, the trainer only provides explanations in Japanese (but that shouldn't decrease the amount of fun from watching the performance). There are two floors, with quite the long stairs. Overall, there is a little bit of everything to enjoy an aquarium. While there were a lot of people, it wasn't TOO crowded.
Khaled A — Google review
Good indoor activity for kids. Dolphin show was particularly good, would have liked it to be slightly longer though ( 10 mins show around). Crowded across all seasons, i visited during summers and since the Dolphin show was outdoor, the wait for the show was difficult and draining. No options to eat so better carry your own snacks. Also there are discounts for folks residing or working in Shinagawa area so get your id proofs to avail it.
Toshali G — Google review
A very simple but nice aquarium to visit, tucked away in a park behind some residence buildings. It took about 10-15mins of walking from Omorikaigan station to reach the location itself. The aquarium has quite a number of exhibits but due to the scale of the building, most of them are quite small, especially the dolphin tank. They do get visits from families from around and outside of the area so the place isn't too quiet. However, if you planning to visit an aquarium in Tokyo, there are many others that are more convenient to visit.

🐬 Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa Review Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa is a fascinating and modern aquarium that offers an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. Inside, you can explore a wide variety of marine life — from colorful tropical fish and graceful jellyfish to rare sea creatures and beautifully designed underwater displays. The exhibits are creatively arranged with impressive lighting and sound effects that make the atmosphere both relaxing and magical. One of the highlights of the park is the live dolphin show, which combines music, water, and light in a stunning performance. You can also watch sea lions and other marine animals demonstrating their natural behaviors and playful interactions with trainers — a perfect mix of entertainment and education. Beyond the main attractions, there are seasonal events and themed exhibitions that make every visit unique. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate, with friendly staff ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. Overall, Aqua Park Shinagawa is not just an aquarium but a full sensory adventure. It’s a must-visit destination in Tokyo, especially for families, couples, and anyone interested in the beauty of marine life.

Very toddler friendly aquarium, all the water tanks are at ground level (including dolphins) so it’s super easy for kids to observe. It’s located in a huge community park so a great place for kids to run off energy
Winnie X — Google review
It's a small aquarium and it's crowded but they have many shows including a dolphin show, sea lion show and a diver swimming with the fishes and turtles in the tunnel aquarium. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and we got tickets from the vending machine without waiting in line. There's a ticket office with a person in there as well. The dolphin show was the first thing we saw and we found it very entertaining, comparable to the skill of the dolphis we saw in Lisbon. The trainers don't get into the water, the size of the tank doesn't allow it. After visiting the rest of the aquarium we realised that the tiny show area is the largest space the 5 dolphins have access to. That's shocking. It is so so so tiny compared to European standards. We felt sad for the dolphins and didn't stay for other outdoor shows. The ticket price is reasonable and it grants access back into the aquarium during the entire day. It's a shame that the tanks are so small for the creatures that live in them.
Sorina R — Google review
the dolphin and sea lion show was amazing... I would like to recommend the dolphin show... They're so cute and talented. the aquarium was beautiful yet the sea lion got me intrigued. Does it have a blind eye? ... it has 2 tunnels.
Jacquilyn F — Google review
We loved it, so much to see up close, we did find the dauphine space where they stay a bit on the dusty side, but we don't know if the dolphins had just dirtied it and saw workers constantly cleaning and keeping their space clean

Park
Nature & Parks
Rinshi-no-mori Park, located in Meguro, Tokyo, was originally the Meguro Experimental Nursery established in 1900. This expansive 120,000sqm park features a diverse range of beautiful trees and offers a serene escape from the city with its towering zelkovas, poplars, and camphors. The park's lush forests were cultivated to determine which trees could thrive in Tokyo's urban environment.
We came to this park because we heard that we could get beetles. I guess it was too late at7 in the morning. There were a lot of drone beetles. I was surprised to find such a park near the city center.

Some parts were closed off due to falling trees, but I nice little green oasis when you want a break. There’s a really cool old pond from an old samurai clan as well.

Love the nature. Different from normal parks in Japan, some grounds are not made of concrete but leaf mold. You can enjoy the soft touch and beautiful sound every step you take. 🍁

It’s my first time here the Rinshi no Mori park Great place to spend time with a toddler during summer. There is plenty of shade at the playground and at the splash pad. The kiddie pool was a little bit crowded but there was enough space for an 19 months old to have fun for hours.

This park is wide. Vending machines are available. It's a great place for a jog, walking your dog, or playing with your kids.

The blossoms are in full bloom here with several beautiful trees! The park is huge and has lots of different sports area (baseball, soccer, tennis, etc.) You can easily spend several hours here, enjoy!
Alexis B — Google review
Admission fee: free A lot of wide space. Not crowded, so it's gonna be a perfect place for you to relax yourself. Water fountain and toilet available!
Abkarin N — Google review
The nature is quite wild and jungle-like in this park compared to other parks in Tokyo which looks very artificial and man made. The park is very popular to the locals where they can take slow strolls, have gatherings, small camping areas and grilling areas, and jogging routes. The landscape is very dramatic and 3D with small hills and valleys, and bridges that overpass landscapes and ponds below. This park used to be a protected natural habitat zone that was used for research by 18 different institutions. I come here for slow walks and jogging, it’s simply feels great to come here to get in touch with nature and briefly forget the urban jungle.

Aquarium
Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa, situated near Shinagawa Station, is a top-tier aquarium in Tokyo that boasts cutting-edge technology and captivating exhibits. The venue showcases over 20,000 animals from 350 species through synchronized light and sound shows, dolphin performances with projection mapping, and various interactive zones like Wonder Tube, Jellyfish Ramble, Little Paradise, Friendly Square, and Aqua Jungle. Visitors can also enjoy attractions such as an aquatic animal merry-go-round and a museum.
Family (2 adults + 2 kids) recently. I think this is a good place to see a show in Tokyo for about the third time. The theater type dolphin show venue is just amazing with sound, light, video, and projection mapping! The fountains, water curtains, and lighting changes ...... were like an entertainment show, and I was thrilled from start to finish. I was thrilled from start to finish. The show venue is a fantastic space surrounded by 360° light, and the dolphins' jumps and performances are very beautiful. The show is held during the daytime, and both children and adults were excited by the power and speed of the dolphins' jumps. Depending on where you sit, you may get splashed by water, so I recommend the "soaking wet zone" for everyone.

Seeing this place was interesting to see much of the aquarium animals. The main attraction with the dolphins and whale was awesome. Paying in advance to do the "touching the dolphins" wasn't a waste of time, touching them was actually nice and smooth. Was happy to be up close to see them. Both day and night light shows was cool to watch the skill and training of the dolphins jumping and splashing everyone. More entertainment for other kids to do a few rides was added to the aquarium as well.
Dan W — Google review
One of the best value attractions we visited in Japan! The dolphin show alone was worth the visit – energetic, well-choreographed, and genuinely fun for the whole family. We were also surprised by how enjoyable the rest of the park was. The penguins were adorable to watch, the aquarium exhibits were well presented, and there were even a few small rides we didn’t expect – and they turned out to be a hit with our kids. A fantastic mix of entertainment and education, all at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend for families or anyone looking for a fun half-day activity in Tokyo.

Exciting and immersive aquarium experience! Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa is a must-visit for anyone who loves marine life. The aquariums are beautifully designed with interactive and colorful displays. The dolphin shows are amazing, energetic, and fun for both kids and adults. The park is clean, well-organized, and perfect for a family outing or a fun date. A wonderful mix of education, entertainment, and awe-inspiring marine sights!

We had a fantastic day here. If you are staying at the Shinagawa Prince hotel complex you get discount. It's right next door to the hotel and once you have bought your ticket you can enter again to watch the night dolphins show which was even better. There's quite alot to see and well worth the price. The whole place is Really well maintained with all enclosures clean and look well cared for.

Pure happiness, I enjoyed it greatly to the fullest. Not only is there a dolphin show, amazing animals, and some that you will probably not see if you dont go, there's a terrarium with monster fish and reptiles. Ōmorikaigan Station is an elevated station located near the aquarium, with multiple directions available. It runs parallel to Daiichi Keihin and only local trains make stops there. Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, a former estate turned 144-acre park, was originally created as a recreational garden for the Imperial family. It is an Important Cultural Property and features three types of gardens: English, French, and Japanese. Throughout the year, the park hosts various events such as photography lessons, chrysanthemum flower exhibitions, and traditional Japanese art performances.
This garden is incredibly spacious and beautiful — perfect for picnics, hanging out with friends, or just relaxing. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, with plenty of spots to enjoy the scenery. I really appreciated how convenient it was too, with lots of vending machines available throughout. The highlight for me was the Starbucks inside the garden — not only is the coffee great, but the view from there is absolutely a must-try experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to spend a peaceful and enjoyable time outdoors!

Visiting Shinjuku Gyoen Park was an absolute delight! Right in the heart of Tokyo, this park feels like a peaceful escape from the busy city. The gardens are beautifully maintained, with a perfect mix of traditional Japanese design, French elegance, and English landscapes, offering something unique at every turn. Walking through the park was incredibly relaxing – from the tranquil ponds and tea houses to the wide open lawns and colorful seasonal flowers. Each season brings its own charm, whether it’s the cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, vibrant autumn leaves, or the calm beauty of winter. The park is very clean, spacious, and easy to explore, making it ideal for a quiet stroll, a picnic, or just enjoying nature. It’s also a wonderful spot for photography, with so many breathtaking views. Shinjuku Gyoen is truly a hidden oasis in Tokyo – serene, beautiful, and inspiring. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city!

Wonderful, peaceful gardens to visit both for tourists and locals! The ponds, statuary, trees, and flowers make you feel you are in a faraway paradise. Beautiful backdrops for photo opportunities.

A beautiful and peaceful escape in the middle of Tokyo. Shinjuku Gyoen is incredibly clean, spacious, and well-maintained. The park has lovely Japanese gardens, open lawns, and a stunning greenhouse. Perfect for relaxing walks, picnics, and photography. I went during ___ (spring/autumn/etc.), and the scenery was breathtaking — especially the cherry blossoms! Very easy to access from Shinjuku-Gyoenmae Station. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy nature in the city.

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is truly an oasis amid the bustle of Shinjuku. We visited on a lightly drizzling day and spent about an hour exploring the grounds. Although we managed to see most of the main areas in that time, we easily could have spent another hour or two strolling through the beautifully maintained landscapes. The gardens feature a variety of scenic areas, along with several pleasant cafés and refreshment spots, making it a relaxing place to pause and enjoy the surroundings. The facilities and amenities were exceptionally clean and well maintained, consistent with Japan’s high standards. Admission was 500 yen per adult, and the gardens are open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Overall, Shinjuku Gyoen offers a peaceful retreat from the city and is well worth a visit for anyone spending time in Tokyo.
Robert G — Google review
This beautiful garden is right in the middle of the busy Shinjuku area. Entry cost is five hundred yen and can be accessed via the ic card. It is a combination of landscaped gardens, beautiful ponds, Japanese traditional garden and even a forest. You can spend a lot of time here exploring. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing place to visit and chill, especially in autumn when the weather is sub 20 degrees. Beautifully crafted landscaping and really appreciated the breeze and silence. Always wanted to see the pavilion featured in Garden of Words and it certainly didn't disappoint! Just note they're very strict on the closing time and will go around to chase people out so don't overstay your welcome!

A nice and a bit fancy place. Parts of AKB48's music video Amanojaku Batter were shot here. In Edo period daibas or protective forts were built in Tokyo bay and Tennozu isle later grew to swallow one of those daibas. I enjoy the living history of this place.

Bunko no Mori Park is a spacious and picturesque park located just a short walk from Togoshi Koen Station in Tokyo. It features a large pond with a charming footbridge, as well as benches and walking paths for visitors to enjoy. The park is popular for picnics, offering ample space and scenic views of seasonal flowers. Families often visit the park for leisure activities, while joggers appreciate the designated tracks.
It’s a small park for refreshment, family picnic and spending cool time with friends, pets or bus yourself. You can do jogging as well as free hand exercise if you bring your tools. In this park, you can find a beautiful pond and small bridge over there where you can see ducks. You can enjoy the nature here. Nice place.

Fantastic place to relax and make a picnic. The landscape changes through the year and the wildlife is very different. I recommend it for families!

When the sakura are in season, this was a calming place to see some beautiful scenery without big crowds. Otherwise, visiting here for leisure isn’t too relaxing since there’s some odd folks who hangout on the benches and feed flocks of pigeons which makes it uncomfortable for others who stop by to eat.

A beautiful, thriving park with plenty of shade, open areas for play, and serene spots to relax. The times that I do come here, lots of families are playing, people are jogging, and others are just taking in the nature. This is a very nice park to enjoy with the company of others~

Train station
Shinagawa Station is a historic and bustling railway hub in the Takanawa and Konan districts of Minato, Tokyo. It has been an integral part of Japan's rail history since its opening in 1872, preceding the country's first railway by four months. The station serves as a transfer point for various travel options, including day trips to Hakone and long-distance trains to cities like Osaka, Kyoto, and Hiroshima.
Super crowded station since it's connecting to a lot of routes. You can also board shinkansen in here. I came from Haneda Airport, get off in here and board the shinkansen to Kyoto from this station.
Vinny A — Google review
Confusing and Inconvenient Ticket Machine Experience During my recent trip, I had a very frustrating experience with the ticket machines at a Japanese station. The machines did not clearly indicate the specific ticket options they provided, making it appear as though I could purchase Shinkansen tickets, only to find out that these machines only sold tickets for limited express trains within specific regions. After waiting in line, I realized I still needed to search for another machine to get the correct ticket. For non-local travelers, this lack of clarity is incredibly inconvenient. I hope the station improves the signage on these machines to help travelers understand which tickets can be purchased where.
Mark T — Google review
Boarded the Nozomi Shinkansen bound for Kyoto. Thoroughly enjoyed the service, great selection of bentos available in the station also.
Hakujinsan — Google review
Shinagawa is a transit beast in a suit—Shinkansen doors, Keikyū flights to Haneda, and towers full of meetings. Business travelers command the concourse while families chase bento before long rides. Polished, efficient, slightly pricey—but it gets you everywhere fast. Tourist Tip: For Haneda, follow red Keikyū signs; for Shinkansen, JR Central gates are obvious. Grab ekiben upstairs before boarding.
Stray L — Google review
Is it a shopping mall? No! It's a train station. Shinagawa is a major transport hub and where bullet trains (Shinkansen) depart to Kyoto. Everything is pristine clean and there are lots of eateries and shops (tip: buy your food before boarding the train)
Urban T — Google review
Although it is a train station, it is like a shopping mall.. always busy.. there are many train platforms.. even Shinkansen trains are accessible here.. toilets are very clean and there are many.. dydo is everywhere.. There are many famous food outlets..
Praneeth S — Google review
Shinagawa is clearly one of the larger stations in Tokyo, but at least its JR part is still quite manageable thanks to clear signs. Just be careful to not confuse the platforms 1 and 3 for Yamanote Line, which are located pretty far from each other, so it you're like me, you may have to walk up a few extra stairs to get where you actually want to go. The station is, despite being very busy pretty much all time, kept in a very clean state, and it offers a few places to grab a quite bite or something to drink in the summer heat.
Ivo M — Google review
We lived in the area and this is the main station where we can take Shinkansen as well as local trains. It is a very busy place, but it has all the facilities you will need. There are many good food places or Ekiben shops. Also, a lot of souvenirs or gift shops sell iconic local snack gift packs. It is easy to navigate and try to avoid peak hours.

(Translated by Google) Omori Kaigan is the only station in Tokyo that has a coast in its name. In fact, there was actually a beach until the 1950s. However, in preparation for the last Tokyo Olympics, the sea was reclaimed and only the name of the station remained on the coast. Immediately after entering from Daiichi Keihin, I went to the area that was once the sea and found that it was now Shinagawa Ward Citizens Park, the largest park in Shinagawa Ward. A large pond with an area of 6,500 square meters was built there. When I looked at the map of the park, for some reason, there was a character for umi there. In fact, it is made of seawater brought in from the canal next door. There is the sea on the Omori coast. In this sea of population, a new spot was born in July. A part of the pond has been opened up as a beach🏖A cute beach with a total length of only 48m that you cannot swim in. Nestled in the heart of Tokyo, Yoyogi Park is a sprawling urban oasis that spans an impressive 134 acres. This vibrant park features serene lakes, charming fountains, and lush forested areas adorned with mature trees, making it a perfect escape from the city's hustle and bustle. Located just south of Shinjuku and near the iconic Yoyogi National Gymnasium, it's easily accessible for both locals and tourists alike.
A nice park to relax in or go for a jog. Most of the park is tree lined paths and bench areas though it has a few extra sections. There is a beautiful butterfly garden on the south side that I'd recommend. A herb / rose garden. A dog park. And a lake for viewing birds... Though they were hiding during our visit.

Green, expansive, gorgeous. There are so many words that could describe Yoyogi Park but those are my top three. I loved the greenery, art, wildlife, and the First Flight Monument. A newfound favorite park! 🌿 It’s very clean and well-maintained, making it such a pleasant place to explore. I visited in winter (January) and loved that it wasn’t crowded. Just be sure to dress warmly so you can fully enjoy walking around. There are food stalls around, but since Shibuya is within walking distance, you’ll have plenty of dining options nearby. Definitely a must-visit spot in Tokyo!

Visiting at night was a highlight—open paths, soft lighting, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels worlds away from the city noise. Practical win: there are plenty of bathrooms and vending machines throughout the park, which makes it easy to stay longer without planning. Perfect for an evening stroll, light snacks, and unwinding.

Beautiful gem found right around the corner from Harajuku station. Conveniently located & within walking distance of Takeishita street shopping area. I went on a Sunday and it was busy but not crowded. The park is filled with gorgeous big lush trees, giving off such a peaceful vibe. I loved seeing the shrine and all the gates. This is a great place to come if you're looking to get a break from the hustle and bustle, to relax or have a little lunch. At the Yoyogi park main stage you'll find alot of events happening. Filled with live performances to tons of food tents. Highly recommends to stop by and take it all in.

Beautiful and very lovely, at least today (26th October), with many food stalls and musicians playing. If you continue and walk more to the centre of the park, it’s much quieter (it was also the end of the day, so it might me more crowded on the morning or early afternoon). Too bad there’s a lot of construction going on (hence the 4 stars), as I was hoping to come here and relax, to escape from the Shibuya madness!…

Parque Hibiya is a lush, serene oasis tucked right in the bustling heart of Tokyo. Strolling along the winding paths, I felt completely transported by the vibrant seasonal flowers, from the delicate cherry blossoms blooming in spring to the fiery maples of autumn. The peacefulness of the two large Western-style flower gardens, showcased by colorful tulips and roses, provided perfect spots for quiet reflection. The highlight was resting by the pond with its charming bronze crane fountain, watching graceful wild birds while soaking up the tranquility. Nearby, I caught a lively outdoor concert at the open-air venue, blending nature and culture seamlessly. The 400-year-old ginkgo tree stood tall like a proud guardian of the park’s past, a living testament to resilience.

Kiyosumi Gardens, established between 1878 and 1885, is a traditional Japanese garden originally purchased by Yataro Iwasaki, the founder of Mitsubishi. The garden features a large pond with three small islands and a house called Ryo-tei built above it to provide picturesque views. It also includes various stones from all over Japan arranged around the pond. This circular garden boasts a fountain, an artificial hill, and a dry landscape garden.
You must see it to believe it! This garden is all about peace and harmony. Once inside you just want to sit and observe its perfection. It was close to our airbnb so we discovered it by chance but it is definitely one of the best gardens I've ever seen. And it's unbelievable how isolated from the outside world it is while being next to a busy street. Highly recommend!

Kiyosima Garden is conveniently close to my home, and I was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem in Tokyo. The entry fee is just 150 yen for adults, which is very reasonable. The garden is very well maintained and incredibly scenic—I could hardly believe such a peaceful place exists in the city. It’s perfect for spending a long, relaxing time—you can sit, enjoy the view, or even read a book. The garden has many large turtles in the water, and it’s fun to watch their activity. Everything about it feels picturesque and truly mind-blowing. I had a wonderful time there! The garden closes at 5 PM, with the last entry at 4:30 PM. I recommend spending a good 2 to 3 hours to fully enjoy everything it has to offer.

An Amazing Garden in the Middle of the City: Kiyosumi Garden Wow! Kiyosumi Garden is indeed an amazing gem, a tranquil "green lung" in the heart of the bustling city, and you are describing a particularly magical visit. Here is a text that reflects your visiting experience: An Amazing Garden in the Middle of the City: A Japanese Serenity Experience at Kiyosumi Garden In the midst of the big city's hustle and bustle lies a hidden, breathtaking natural gem—Kiyosumi Garden. This is not just a patch of grass, but a traditional Japanese "strolling garden," offering a true escape and a visual and cultural journey all in one. Immediately upon entering, the silence takes over. The center of the garden is the large pond, which is the highlight and the focus of life. I stood on the bank and admired the meticulously maintained view: the trees, especially the ancient black pines, were carefully and artistically pruned, setting a perfect green frame for the landscape reflected in the water. The pond itself is a whole world teeming with life. Schools of colorful Koi fish, shining in brilliant orange, red, and white, swam beneath the surface like a living painting. The turtles, basking in the sun on the stones or floating logs, gave a sense of a natural and peaceful habitat. And the ducks—what a joy it was to watch them glide calmly, dotting the pond's surface and adding a gentle, pleasant sound to the overall quiet. What is particularly fascinating about Kiyosumi are the stepping stones ("Iso-watari"), those carefully placed and cut stones that allow you to hop across the water and traverse parts of the pond almost at water level. This is a classic Japanese design element that connects you directly to nature and the scenery. Treading carefully on the stones offers an intimate touring experience, as if you are walking inside the pond, and provides a unique perspective on the vegetation and the traditional buildings (like the reflective teahouse). A stroll through Kiyosumi Garden is a meditative experience. The combination of the flawless care by the Japanese gardeners, who emphasize every branch and stone, and the restrained wildness of nature, creates an exceptional harmony. This is a place to slow down, take a deep breath, and remember that there is beauty and perfection even within the urban chaos. If you are looking for a moment of true Japanese serenity, away from the noise and commotion, Kiyosumi Garden is the perfect place to visit. It is an experience of tranquility that refills the soul with renewed energy.

A very beautiful garden. 150 yen to enter, they have a picnic area. I was visiting Fukagawa Edo Musuem and stopped by and glad I did, a nice way to spend about 30-45 minutes strolling in a circle around the lake. Next time I will bring onigiris and tea and relax.
Aki T — Google review
We were honestly surprised when we stepped foot into Kiyosumi Gardens! Our original plan was to visit a few cafés in the Kiyosumi-shirakawa neighborhood, with the garden more of an add-on. But it ended up being the star of our visit! Right next to Kiyosumi Park, this beautiful Japanese garden is absolutely worth the modest ¥150 entry fee. The grounds are just the right size for a leisurely stroll—big enough to wander, yet compact enough to feel relaxed. Best of all, it’s far less crowded than Tokyo’s more famous gardens, making it easier to truly enjoy the peace and scenery. You’ll find picturesque landscapes, calming ponds, and even cute turtles swimming about! If you’re looking for a quiet moment, beautiful views, and a chance to slow down in the middle of Tokyo, look no further.

Kyu-Shiba-rikyu Gardens, also known as Shiba Villa, is a stunning Edo-era landscape garden located in Tokyo. Originally owned by a Japanese feudal lord, the garden features picturesque ponds, bridges, and man-made hills that represent the ocean, lakes, and mountains. The intricate stone layouts and plots have earned it a designation as a place of national scenic beauty in Japan.
Wonderful place in the heart of tokyo to loose some stress. We went for a nice little walk around the park. The staff was very nice and took our trolley into their building while we were visiting the park. The entry fee per person is 150yen, which i think is very fair!

There’s a construction going at the south side. You could not go from there. So maybe north side is the only way to go now. It is definitely longer than the maps suggested. From the south side it would have taken only 3 minutes. The garden is part of 9 metropolitan heritage gardens. It’s not a large garden but still offers beautiful transitional Japanese gardens feel. There are some Sakura blossoms in the back of the garden. You could see from the entrance. And that’s where people gathered sitting under the trees. There are some benches available. There is also another grassy grove where people put out their picnic sitting ware. Many locals turned out. And mostly seniors. Also families with kids. Great place for kids to run around.

Loved visiting this park, especially at sunset, with the golden sunlight reflecting on the water and on the buildings and passing through the pine trees. 150 yen if you did not get the combo ticket for the Hamarikyu Gardens, so just get the combo if you intend to visit both. Very peaceful and relaxing. Perfect.

Located just next to Hamamatsucho station, this Japanese garden is an oasis of peace and quiet and well worth a visit. Yes, it costs 150 yen to enter, so it isn't technically 'Free', but that is incredible value considering the location and history. Although it isn't a big garden, there is a large pond with carp, various sculpted features, and benches to sit in the shade while enjoying the view. Although surrounded by high rise buildings and skyscrapers, these just add to the interesting view, make for interesting photos that juxtapose the old and new, and underscore the feeling that you have stumbled onto a secret oasis. The history of the site is outlined in English and Japanese on information boards, so you can learn more. I particularly enjoyed the various winding stone paths, and making my way to the small central island to get a better view of the turtles sunning themselves by the water.

The park gained fame for hosting wrestling and volleyball Olympic matches.
Very huge park! There were sakura trees too that you can enjoy during the season. Good for hanging out with family and friends. Exercising here looks like a perfect idea too!

Komazawa Olympic Park features a vast area with running tracks, sports facilities, and a playground for children, making it an ideal spot for families and athletes alike. The park also offers scenic walking paths that showcase beautiful nature throughout the seasons, providing a relaxing atmosphere. With cafes and restaurants on-site, it’s convenient for taking breaks or enjoying a light meal.

This place has a walking, jogging and bicycling track around the entire facility with distance markers. I'm not sure how long it is, but it feels like it's at least 2 miles. There were a lot of runners on Sunday when I visited. It's an ideal place to jog without having to worry about car traffic, and the pesky lawless bicycle riders, for the most part.
Leonard L — Google review
Very big park to take your family here to: pinic/ bicycle/ run/ skate/ gym. Sometimes there are flea markets as well. It’s so big that there are several smaller parks inside for kids to play like Pig park, squirrels park… You can spend almost a day here with different activities.
Thủy V — Google review
a very comfortable place to exercise in the afternoon. very spacious and lush garden. Even though it is a bit far from Komazawa Daigaku Station, the journey to get there is very pleasant because it passes through a road that is not too busy. A very suitable if you invite the family to exercise here. If you have pets, you are allowed to come here.
Mabda N — Google review
Big park, lots of facilities. Awesome running/cycling loop ~2.2km long. Baseball field, stadium/gym, basketball hoops, children playground, skating and kids cycling tracks, food and drink stand, and more. Always full of people day and night, especially weekends, but there is plenty of space to sit and exercise, so it never feels crammed.

In this park, there is a basketball ring under the East footbridge, near the Okaidan Kita hiroya.
なめろう — Google review
This park is quite big with a few permanent shops to grab some food to eat at either those shops’ tables or at one of the park’s open areas. Don’t expect the quality to be good though. There are sometimes food trucks that are in the area as well. Lots of people run, bike, or even use the skate park! There’s a lot of open space as well for any other form of exercise that won’t bother other people. We saw some youngsters practicing parkour too!

The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, located on the inner east grounds of the Imperial Palaces in Tokyo, offer a vast historical landmark reminiscent of New York's Central Park. Despite being near bustling Tokyo Station, the gardens provide a peaceful oasis with large landscaped areas and remnants of Edo Castle's defense structures. In a city where green spaces are limited due to urbanization, these gardens serve as valuable outdoor space for urban residents.
There are extensive grounds, that are well maintained, that you can walk through. You could easily spend an hour or two just walking the entire grounds. That being said, there are not a lot of flowers in this garden. Our group was kind of looking forward to seeing some flower gardens, but there were no major ones. There are some benches. There are some rest areas near the bathrooms.
Jim C — Google review
It is a historical garden in the Tokyo Imperial Palace. The gardens were first used by the Tokugawa shogunate. The garden was built on the grounds of Edo Castle. The building of the modern gardens began in 1961. The garden is over 210,000 square metres. The garden was completed in 1968. Gardens are well maintained and lovely blooms and manicured trees. Popular place, lots of tourists and locals. Picturesque place. Must see place. Uneven terrain, lots of walking. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen. Great place for photography
S V — Google review
So well manicured. I’m guessing the gardeners here are an elite team working for the palace. Both my hubby and I loved the trees, the lawn, the fruit trees to name a few. Never fail to amaze us. We spent a total of 3 hours there and forgot the sun existed. We were hot, sweaty and exhausted when we finished. But…we were very happy.
Teresa Y — Google review
Very beautiful! It was closed certain areas but we walked around the palace and still can enjoy it. There was a lot of security which I noticed with the imperial palace throughout Japan to enter they do inspection on bags, very nice. There is also a very pretty stamp inside a souvenir shop :)
Angelica C — Google review
Only the garden around the palace is accessible to the public. It is a very large area, extremely nice to walk around. There are fish in the water surrounding the palace and fruit trees everywhere around the grounds. The whole area is immaculately maintained. On the day of my visit, it was not too crowded thus the long walk was very enjoyable. A bit of a distance from the subway, so prepare for a lot of walking!
G D — Google review
Maybe we were here during the wrong season, because i was not very impressed with the park. It was nice, and peaceful, but also felt bare and empty. We were lucky because we got to hear, and sort of see (by peeking through the bushes) that there was a police training in one of the buildings of the park. What I like about this park is that it reminds me in certain aspects of Central Park in New York. I say this because the park is in the middle of the city.
Rosalie C — Google review
Expect lots of walking especially since we just went to the free entrance after security. Very serene, but lots of tourists. The shops were cute and there are enough bathrooms everywhere. Overall, if you’re looking for a place to just look at nature amidst this concrete jungle - this is it.

Meiji Jingu Gaien Ginkgo Avenue, located in Tokyo's Minato ward, offers a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle. This picturesque avenue is lined with 146 ginkgo trees that create a stunning golden tunnel during autumn. The trees were strategically planted to create a unique perspective as visitors stroll through this vibrant canopy of yellow and orange leaves. Nature enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the tranquil atmosphere while admiring the vivid colors of fall foliage.
At the last 2 weeks of November , should be the best time to go to the Meiji Jingu Outer Garden to see the yellow leaves of the Ginkgo trees . One of the best place to see the yellow leaves in Tokyo . Thousands of people came to see the yellow leaves. both the yellow Ginkgo trees & the flows of visitors became part of the Garden. It's really beautiful to be surrounded by the yellow leaves. To go there is easy, only a 4 minutes from the subway station " 外苑前 " G 03.

Went there on the weekend at 2pm was expecting to see cool cars. Seen several and had snack at the cafe. Stay for the view of the Gingko trees and hope to see when it turn yellow in autumn

We were too early to see the yellowish leaves of the Gingko tree. There were some yellowish already but I think it will be more pretty mid November. Unfortunately we wont be able to go but we're already happy to see some of it. I also got a picture on my polaroid and it was pretty good!

We were fortunate to visit this sight during the autumn peak of gingko trees. The trees were yellow aligned along the street and were absolutely phenomenal! Day time was not enough, so we revisited this sight within their time allotted for autumn leaves illumination. It was spectacular! It was a sight to behold. They close half of the street within the period, where it would last until 730 in the evening. It was a great experience! Definitely highly recommended to visit during autumn. 😊

More of a local shopping area so the prices are more reasonable. This one shop for readymade takeaway sushi was amazing. The seafood is so fresh and prices are lower than in touristy areas like Shinjuku!!

The shopping center that I like the most, because I think many of the shops that I often visit are here, such as KFC, Gyoumu Super, Kaldi, Muji, and many more. The location is very strategic because it is close to Musashikoyama Station. Big and beautiful ! Too bad some of the tennis courts are getting old. It’s a mix between greenset and carpet (kind of). I'm usually an all around player but it took me quite some time getting adjusted. Also, not sure why there isn’t a separate barrier to avoid the balls wandering around between the courts. Otherwise, it’s a very atypical atmosphere. If you want to have big buildings all around your court and also planes flying just above, then this is the perfect spot !

This place is beautiful. I couldn't believe it was in Tokyo. It's a little tranquil haven amidst the chaos of the bustling city. Clean public toilets, and a bird sanctuary walking trail made it a real winner. Come spend an hour here and unwind on your lunch break!

Spectator seating area at both pitches. Very well organised :) ;)

One of the best hanami I have ever seen. There is lot of construction going on as compared to last year for olympic 2020 but beauty of this place is not reduced a bit. It was amazingly bloomed in Spring season. I have seen Hanami (cherry blossom) many other places as well but nothing like it. All the flowers create a beautiful flowers turnal. It is always amazing to do Hanami there. Best thing is because it is are resendential area, not commercialized like Yoyogi, or ueno park, very few people go there even on peak time (full bloom) Best even in that time if you visit early morning then you will find few people only and you will get the best shot.

Gotenyama Garden is a historic hillside garden in Shinagawa, Tokyo, known for its seasonal foliage and cherry blossoms. Once belonging to the powerful Tokugawa clan of Japan, it offers intimate spaces and vast expanses that make you feel separated from the world. The area also features former homes of influential figures and a Western-style residence designed by British architect Josiah Conder. Visitors can enjoy the osmanthus fragrance, quiet atmosphere, and various dining options nearby.
A beautifully maintained park with a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. The two waterfalls—a large one and a smaller one above—create a soothing background sound, adding to the serenity. With plenty of seating, neatly trimmed gardens, and well-placed trash cans, the space feels clean and inviting. It’s not crowded, making it an ideal spot for a quiet moment. Ramen restaurant
Homemade Ramen 麦苗 is a cozy, small ramen spot with an open kitchen where traditional noodle soups are served. Despite the long wait times, the food is great and worth it according to visitors. The staff is courteous and kind, allowing last-minute entries into the queue. It's recommended to visit only if you have enough time to spare due to potential long waits. Additionally, note that taking photos of the kitchen area is not allowed.
Hands down one of the best bowls of ramen you can get in Tokyo. So many details here that set the bowl apart - all the meats were top notch and executed to perfection. The shoyu broth brought an end to end smile to my face as only the best bowls of ramen can do. Truly a place that warms the soul both through the noodles and hospitality, which is rare for ramen shops. Absolutely worth the trouble to get a seat.
Charles C — Google review
The queue system can be a little confusing (and maybe even intimidating) for first timer visiting this popular ramen spot. There was a note outside explaining that we should just wait outside until our number is called - but there’s no numbering system for those that reserved online. The chef just calls out the names of guest instead. Also, don’t be surprised if your booking time isn’t super precise. The time keeping is off so even when we reserved 2:15, we were only seated at 2:50. In between, no one comes out to tell you that you are not forgotten so all the tourist outside were sitting around wondering if we didn’t do something right. Food wise, the attention to detail was great. The food was delicious but the travel and the hassle to get to eat here really kills a lot of the enjoyment. For more details of the food, I have a blog post about it.
Ah R — Google review
Took an hour travel and wait but not even able to get a reservation. Because the system changed and the notice is not clear. Even local Japanese were misled by the system. So bad for your customers traveling all the way to queue. You should have at least the first 40 minutes open to in person visitors if you are transferring to online reservations. or you can come out and tell us to book the time-slot before 9 am, so we can try to make a booking and not wasting all our time. 8 people spent so much time to try your food and got kicked away. Should show more respect to your guests.
Ron N — Google review
Shoyu Ramen: The broth is consistent from start to finish, with no strong chicken notes, offering a stable flavor. The chashu tastes like high-quality meat. It’s a pity the noodles don’t absorb the broth fully. The umami is excellent. Iriko Ramen: The anchovy flavor is extremely strong. The umami is good, but it’s not to my taste. I recommend sticking with the shoyu ramen.
Sungmin L — Google review
This is honestly one of the most amazing bowls of ramen I've ever had. Personally I was never a fan of shoyu broths as I prefer heavier broths. However this ramen changed my perception on how deep and umami shoyu broths can be. Although a lighter soup, the flavour was so good. I've added additional wagyu topping and it compliments the ramen very well. If you are ever in the area do give it a try. Do note that reservations start at 9am. You have to be early to get a timeslot that you desire, Especially if you want to eat at 11am as the earlier timeslots fills up fast. It has 8 seats per seating and each seating is 40minutes long. This main store is limited to 100 bowls per day.
D Z — Google review
I've been trying to go to all of the Michelin ramen restaurants and this is my new favorite of the bunch! (Nakiryu will always have a special place in my heart too.) The steak in the deluxe toppings is some of the best steak I've had in my life. Everything is delicious and so carefully prepared. They have a sign up sheet everyday, so you have to get there early.
Kelly N — Google review
The most delicious shoyu ramen I have had in my life! I recommend you to order 上醤油 (Joushouyu), which is a shoyu ramen with special toppings, because the toppings here are extraordinarily delicious. The bowl comes with 3 nori (dried seaweed), 2 pork chashu, 1 wagyu beef, shiso-flavoured chicken, pork wonton, and menma. The shoyu chicken-based soup is not too strong and refreshing, and most noticeably, it's very clear, indicating that the owner delicately controlled the temperature very well when extracting the umami out of chicken. The noodle (men) is a thin type and perfectly cooked. The toppings are extraordinary, especially the chashu, which they said to use 林SPF豚, a specially-breed of pig from Chiba prefecture. The chashe has a perfect fat and a heavenly flavor of roasting, which is so mellow and enhancing the bowl itself. Expect the long waiting (at least one hour) when visiting despite during COVID-19, I went the at 13:00 and got the reservation of the last queue at 14:15. There are only 8 seats inside, so the owners need to manage the queue by letting the customer write their name in a time slot and come back again when the time comes.
Panus S — Google review
We live quite near this ramen place, but since it always has a long queue, it took us a while to try it. They start giving out tickets for the first batch at 10:45AM, so many people were already lined up at about 10:20AM when we arrived. We were asked to go back at 12:45PM. We ordered 2 kinds of special ramen: niboshi (left) and shoyu (right). After all the anticipation and expectations, this place only gets 3 stars from me, because, uhm, well, it was overrated. We have tasted a lot of other better ramen joints than theirs and waiting in line for so long doesn’t do justice, haha! Their soup stocks were too salty. It would have been better if we ordered rice on the side, but they ran out of maguro gohan at that time. Also, the rules that they hand out while you wait in line had English translations BUT their ticket vending machine inside didn’t have English translations, so the foreigners who were next in line to us didn’t know which to order. (They were Filipinos and so I am, so I was able to help them though.) Anyhow, the owners were kind and polite and the shop was clean. However, maybe I wouldn’t spend an hour of waiting again just to eat shoyu ramen. But this is just me/us. Hee hee.

If you find yourself wandering the streets of Tokyo, make sure to stop by Ramen Doraku, a cozy little spot that serves up delicious bowls of ramen noodle soup. With toppings like tender roast pork, fresh leeks, and nori seaweed, this place is a must-visit for any ramen lover. I had the pleasure of visiting late one night after arriving in the city with my son. We were greeted by a warm atmosphere and friendly staff who made our experience even more enjoyable.
My son and I just arrived in Tokyo and staying at an airbnb just across this ramen house. I just wanted to give a try right away because it was almost midnight. When we got there, there were a few people still having late ramen supper. My son went straight into the ordering machine near the front door. He ordered the no.1 choice (I forgot its name; but it has one slice of char shiu meat and a half-sliced egg). I chose the char shiu ramen (which came in with 6 or 7 generous slices of roasted pork meat) Man, I am telling you... this is the best by far the BEST ramen I've ever had. The broth was flavorful but not too strong. The ramen/noodle texture was just about right. And the generous portions of the meat was beyond my expectation. I'd easily give a five star for taste and its serving size. Water comes as a complimentary. The atmosphere was quite cozy with friendly staff. Highly recommended if you are in the area! Price was around ¥1.100 each bowl. Will definitely come back.

The Meguro River Cherry Blossoms Promenade is a picturesque riverside path adorned with cherry trees, making it a popular spot during the spring bloom season. The river is around 160 meters wide at this point, offering a better experience on foot than from a train window. Visitors can stroll along the wooden plank path and even find glass panes embedded in the floor for viewing the river below. In late March to early April, Tokyo celebrates cherry blossoms with various events and festivals.
April 10th, 2025. There are a number of locations to see the beautiful Cherry Blossoms but the walk along the Meguro River is surely one of the best. So peaceful! You walk in amazement and take SO many pictures because, as you walk, the next tree SOMEHOW looks even more amazing than the last one. You REALLY just get ‘lost in time’ because there’s nothing else in your sight or mind other than what’s directly in front of you.
Geoff L — Google review
A beautiful spot to enjoy cherry blossoms, especially during peak sakura season. The promenade along the Meguro River is lined with hundreds of cherry trees, creating a stunning tunnel of pink flowers. The atmosphere is lively, with many visitors strolling, taking photos, and enjoying seasonal treats from nearby stalls. In the evening, the illuminated blossoms add a magical touch. However, it can get extremely crowded, making it difficult to walk at a relaxed pace. Best visited early in the morning or on a weekday to avoid the biggest crowds.

Meguro River is one of the most beautiful and iconic spots to enjoy cherry blossoms in Tokyo. During sakura season, the riverbanks are lined with hundreds of cherry trees in full bloom, creating a breathtaking tunnel of pink petals. The reflection of the blossoms on the water adds to the magical atmosphere, making it a perfect location for photography and leisurely walks. The area also features charming cafés, restaurants, and street vendors, allowing visitors to enjoy seasonal treats while soaking in the view. Whether you're visiting Tokyo in spring or simply looking for a serene escape in the city, Meguro River offers an unforgettable hanami experience.

I went on a grey drizzly Sunday. Consequently, few people walking the length. I limited my time in Tokyo as I prefer smaller locations and natural sights. However, this was beautiful even on a grey day. The blossoms do not let you down. On a sunny day, it would be breathtaking. I walked the full length and was all magical. I tried to arrange kayak trip down, but they cancelled due to inclement weather shame. The walk you can take your time or if in a hurry go fast or cut out. Paths go down both sides. I swapped sides to get different perspectives on different sections when passing bridges. Highly recommend that you will not be disappointed.

It’s the kind of beauty that makes you want to see in person. Though the peak of sakura season passed just a week ago, the charm of the spring lingers in the air, fresh green sprouts now peek from the branches, quickly whispering that the season is still alive. Cold night wind dances through the trees, it stirs the petals sending them down the river. The flowing water once a quiet blue, is now blushed with soft pink – a fleeting canvas of nature’s poetry. The scene, though touched by time, remains utterly enchanting.

The cherry blossoms make the promenade absolutely beautiful, but it can be difficult to enjoy due to the sheer volume of tourists that are always present. We went early on a weekday and it was still difficult to avoid large crowds, especially in the busier areas. Would recommend coming at maybe 6am if you want to get pictures with fewer people.

One of the famous Cherry Blossom spot in Tokyo. Rows of the Sakura tree’s stretching along the Meguro river. During full bloom the beauty is next level, the beauty of the Sakura petals floating. I visited here around April 12, it’s almost full bloom & end of Sakura season. It’s cost around 1hour max to max 1.5hour for enjoying viewing. Really enjoyed, must visit here.

Today was my first visit: Spring 30 March 2025. The sakura trees are 87% full blooms. It was as magical as expected. It’s can get very crowded, but everyone was polite and shared the view. Go there as early in the day as possible to have more space for photo.

Meguro History Museum is a place with a rich history. It was originally established as Shimura Church dedicated to St. Joseph the laborer, with support from Catholic individuals in West Germany. The church's land was purchased with assistance from Cardinal Joseph Frings and later transferred to Tokyo Archdiocese from Franciscans juristically.
(Translated by Google) This is a historical museum in Meguro Ward, but it is located in a corner of a large, nondescript building that looks like a school. I had lower expectations for the building, but it was amazing. The exhibition is divided into rough corners that show the changes in Meguro against the backdrop of Japanese history, up to modern times. It's a very smart exhibit, as sophisticated as if it had been cut out from the National Museum or the National Museum of Nature and Science. In particular, the exhibit that recreates the part of the Shin-Fuji Ruins' Wainai Cave is a replica, but it has the power of a real-size exhibit. I don't think it's a very large space, but the space is cleverly divided and the exhibits show each era, so you won't get bored. It's free, and I recommend it to people in your area.

(Translated by Google) 20251024 I came here to learn about Meguro's history, but it was pretty light. The idea of utilizing classrooms in an abandoned school is great, but it could have been expanded a bit more. However, there were three things I found interesting. 1. Aerial photographs of the entire Meguro ward. 2. An exhibition of Mount Fuji and its ruins in Meguro, a popular day-trip destination during the Edo period. 3. A comparison of social history and the history of Meguro ward during the same period. Point 2 was particularly useful, as it gave me the opportunity to visit the site where Mount Fuji and Mount Shin-Fuji once stood. Point 3 was informative, as it helped me understand that Meguro's population growth was due to the Great Kanto Earthquake and the opening of the Mekama Line, which coincided with the earthquake and resulted in the supply of residential land in the suburbs, even as the city center was reduced to rubble.

I went to learn about Meguro's history, and learned that it developed not as a standalone ward, but as part of the Ebara District, encompassing the neighboring wards of Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ota. Among these were villages like Kamimeguro Village and Nakameguro Village, and these names remain in the current place names. What I found interesting was how rapid development occurs when a station opens nearby. This may have been obvious for a long time, but I now understand why railway companies buy up land near stations and develop it themselves, building buildings and condominiums. This is particularly evident in Urayasu, Chiba, where I learned that as access to the city center becomes closer in terms of train time rather than distance, farmland rapidly disappears and is replaced by housing. In Tokyo, Nerima, and the Tama region, if access improves to a 30-minute train ride or so, farmland will likely disappear, and I'd like to see what that looks like.

Togoshi Ginza is a charming local shopping street that’s perfect if you’re looking to escape the busy crowds of central Tokyo. The atmosphere here is warm, relaxed, and very local—great for a slow stroll, casual bites, and soaking in everyday Japanese life. The street is lined with family-run stores, cozy cafes, and street food stalls selling everything from croquettes to yakitori. It’s clean, walkable, and surprisingly peaceful. It’s super accessible too—just a short walk from Togoshi Ginza Station or Togoshi Station. Whether you’re visiting solo, with family, or a partner, this place is definitely worth a few hours.

(Translated by Google) Although Omori Station is only on the Keihin Tohoku Line, it is highly regarded for its calm atmosphere and high convenience for daily life. There are plenty of shopping facilities such as Atre, Tokyu Store, Seiyu, Ito Yokado, drug stores, and 100 yen shops directly connected to the station. It is convenient for everyday shopping and lunch. There is a wide range of restaurants, from chains to local set meal restaurants, ramen, and izakayas, and weekday lunches are also popular for being reasonable. In terms of public safety, the area is generally safe, and many people say that it is safe for raising children and women living alone, and the presence of street lights and police boxes around the station is also reassuring. However, there are concerns about troubles such as drunk people and shoplifting at night in the downtown area of the east exit, so people who do not like drunk people or crowds at night should be careful. If you go further into the residential area, you will find quiet slopes and residential areas that are popular with families, but the structure of the area without slopes and escalators makes it inconvenient for the elderly and those with infants. Some people also say that there are restrictions on where you can walk your pets, and you may be particularly concerned about the conspicuous no-pets signs in parks. Transportation convenience is excellent, with Shinagawa only about 6 minutes away and Tokyo about 20 minutes away, and buses and bicycle sharing are also available, so you won't have any trouble getting to the city center or Yokohama. However, delays and congestion on the Keihin-Tohoku Line are commonplace, and rush hour can be a bit stressful. Overall, the area is excellent in terms of "convenience for daily life," "safety," and "good transportation," and is popular with a wide range of people, both families and singles. However, please note that there may be some inconveniences for people who value entertainment and nightlife, the elderly, families with small children, and those with pets. Makimura is a well-known restaurant celebrated for its kaiseki dining experience, showcasing traditional Japanese courses prepared with seasonal ingredients. A standout dish is the Taichazuke, offering two delightful ways to enjoy sea bream: first as sashimi and then as ochazuke by adding dashi to the rice. The chef, Akio Makimura, is highly regarded for his expertise in crafting visually stunning kaiseki dishes that highlight the flavors of each carefully selected ingredient.
You can experience the best Japanese food restaurant. Makimura has 3stars in Michelin. Usually 3stars restaurant will be too formal and make you feel a little tired. But I don’t know why Makimura has special magic they will make you feel really comfortable, they still has local restaurant mood. (Translated by Google) [One dish to soothe the soul] Enjoy Japanese aesthetics in Makimura, Tokyo As a reward for my 30th birthday, I visited Makimura, a famous Japanese restaurant in Omori, Tokyo. From the moment you step inside the store, where the quiet and dignified atmosphere flows, you feel as if your everyday life has completely moved away. Here, I was able to experience the beauty of Japan with all my five senses. my favorite is [White fish tempura and mullet] A luxurious dish consisting of white fish tempura wrapped in a crispy and light batter, sprinkled with plenty of mullet. When you put it in your mouth, the delicate sweetness of the white fish and the rich saltiness of the mullet roe combine so well that you can't help but close your eyes. It went perfectly with champagne and was truly a ``quietly gorgeous appetizer.'' [Crab shinjou bowl] The moment you open the lid of the bowl, the aroma of the soup stock rises up. Inside is the plump length of a crab. Moist and smooth with a relaxing texture. The scent of spring greens and the discreet addition of tree buds accentuated the dish, and it soothed me from the inside out. [Firefly Squid] A dish full of seasonal flavor. Plump firefly squid was carefully placed on top of the fluffy tofu. There's food underneath too! It has just the right amount of acidity and a mellow taste that is reminiscent of spring, and the flavor of the sea spreads with every bite. It was like a story was packed into each small bowl. [Sea bream with sesame sauce and white rice] To finish off the meal, the elegant fatty sea bream with sesame sauce. Although it is rich, the aftertaste is light, and it goes without saying that it goes well with fluffy white rice. With each sip, happiness seemed to permeate through my body, and I couldn't help but smile. Every dish is a dish that quietly listens to the voice of the ingredients and is inspired by the seasons. I feel as if I have been given time to carefully prepare my mind through food. It was a night that went beyond "delicious" and truly felt "beautiful." The underpass here, for the railway line above is not Disabled Friendly. Minato-ku should be ashamed. If you follow the instructions upon the ground - you will find that at the Tamachi side, you are blocked from passing, and have to return back somewhat, cross over to the incoming side and exit there.... it's simply non-sensical, and does not reflect well upon Minato-ku. I would hope someone with influence, reads this and prompts them to take action. It's so sad, that I have to write this here.

Train station
Ōimachi Station is a well-positioned transportation hub in Tokyo, providing easy access to many main lines and transfer options. Despite being busy during rush hours, the station flows well and offers various amenities and shopping opportunities. Additionally, it serves as a central point for the Ōimachi area, making it a great place to gather. Nearby, visitors can enjoy Ofuro no Osama spa which is just a short walk away from the station.
A family district wrapped in golden light. Markets sell grilled fish beside high-rise condos, and the evening breeze carries laughter from shopping streets. Oimachi is comfort itself — a neighborhood that welcomes travelers with simple, genuine warmth. Tourist Tip: Transfer to Rinkai and Tokyu Oimachi Lines. Explore Atre Oimachi mall or the local Sun Park shopping arcade. Great place for casual dining or family-friendly walks.

You can transit from JR line to Keihin Tohoku, Tokyu Oimachi and Rinkai line without stepping out and getting wet in rain. Transit to the Rinkai line is troublesome as it is in the basement of the station (continue to steep down the escalators) and it is quite confusing. There are cafes, restaurants, Ito Yokado in the vicinity.

Well positioned station providing access to many of the main lines in the city or easy transfer access. The station can be very busy at rush hour in the morning and evening, but flows well enough to keep things reasonably easy to navigate. The station has a decent amount of amenities and shopping options, and acts as a good centre of the Oimachi area to congregate around. Lovely area for a chill night out.

Just a normal train station with all the usual stuff you find in a train station, you wanna know which train and Subway lines go through here ? Just check on Google maps. Around the station there is the usual choice of shopping Arcades, convenience stores, restaurants and bars. With all the charms of a shitamachi of Tokyo including the snacks and the weird massage parlors.
Manuel H — Google review
Spacious and with proper guide/ direction instructions. Also have some food stores just beside the entrance. Easy transfer from JR Keihin tohuku line. Restrooms are available inside the station.
Anika ( — Google review
It's a humble yet extremely convenient station. You can access the JR, Rinkai and local Oimachi lines, with Osaki, Shinagawa and Shinagawa Seaside only a station away. You can go shopping for electronics, mobiles, laptops and home appliances at the 5-storey LABI, and buy furniture, beds, toys, ... at Seiu (both are connected by sky pathways). There's the rather-big Ito-Yokado mall on the opposite side of the street where there is a food court, and pretty much anything you need at home; groceries, cosmetics, clothes, bedding, etc. There's also the higher-end Hankyu supermarket next to the station. We buy bread here. For children, go to SEIU fourth floor for a nice play center for only 500 yen, also there are small play pens on the first floor of Seiu, and fifth floor of Ito-Yokado. Last but not least, there's Atré on top of the station where there are mini branches of Uniqlo, Loft, etc. Plenty of restaurants too in the whole place! You can also find two Docomo Bike Share stations just next to the place. So you have a great example of Japanese station-centered community around Oimachi Station.

Shiokaze Park is the largest park in the Tokyo maritime sub-city center area, divided into north and south sides by an underground expressway. It features a promenade along Tokyo Bay, a BBQ area popular for outdoor entertainment, a playground, and an open grassy center. Despite being located in central Tokyo, it offers a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful views. The park has recently reopened after being closed for the Olympic games and is still undergoing some reconstruction as of December 2021.

One of my favorite parks! You can find adorable Miffy, the whale slide and flower gardens 🐰🐳🌸 The flower beds and rooftop garden are always beautifully maintained. It’s a wonderful place both for a relaxing walk and as a play area for kids. In summer, kids can enjoy water play and even handheld fireworks, making it perfect for creating memories. It’s not too crowded, the atmosphere feels safe, and it’s very family-friendly. A truly charming park that I hope will stay just as it is for many years to come. 😊

In the middle of the garden lying a pond, where you can find a beautiful small stone bridge and lantern, Japanese style, and some Koi waiting for you to feed them (Don’t feed them! It’s prohibited). In the plaza area, children are having fun playing striders and jumping rope. The park used to have a dark and dark atmosphere because it is surrounded by apartment buildings on all sides and because of the large zelkova and cherry trees. Perhaps some of the trees were pruned during the renovation, and it looks brighter now than before. There's a fair amount of shade left by the trees, so it's helpful for those accompanying children to have a place to escape. Winter can be cold. It is often used by young children, from toddlers to lower grades, and there are fewer blind spots, more eyes around, and more adults to accompany them, so if something happens, someone will probably notice, which gives them a sense of security. On the other hand, there are a lot of cars and bicycles on the roads surrounding it, so I'm a little worried that there will be an accident if a small child jumps out, so that's a negative point. (Translated by Google) I visited at the end of December 2024. This is a park commonly referred to as ``Danjiri Park'' on YouTube by Farewell Seishun no Hikari. I went there on a Saturday at the end of the year, so there were a lot of families with small children, and I thought it looked like a lot of people to be taking pictures among them, so I took a few pictures and headed home right away. Unless you are using it for a pilgrimage to a sacred place, it is a good park where you can spend a quiet and relaxing time in the middle of the city. Tennōzu Park is a pleasant, small park situated alongside the waterfront, providing a tranquil atmosphere with minimal city noise. It offers an ideal spot for outdoor activities such as picnics and reading. Adjacent to the park is a baseball field that may occasionally host games, resulting in potential increased noise levels. Additionally, conveniently located near the train station, there is an impeccable soccer and baseball field featuring artificial grass that was recently replaced.
One of the best parks in Shinagawa especially if planning to play soccer ⚽⚽🏆
