Bever Park is a spacious outdoor area with various sports facilities such as tennis and softball courts, an ice rink, and a swimming pool. Additionally, it features a petting zoo where visitors can interact with farm animals by feeding them at a small cost. However, some visitors express concern that the pigs and cows' living quarters are primarily comprised of pebbles rather than dirt or grass.
What a cool park. The Old MacDonald farm area is super cool with kids. Many farm animals and exhibit areas available. It is also very well maintained. Parking was a bit full when we visited and lots if daycare kids on field trips, otherwise plan your visit ahead and it shouldn't be too crowded. It's free so can't complain. The duck pond area was surprisingly beautiful. It was unexpected and worth a visit. Cheers!

One of the downfalls about Bever Park is: They still haven't brought the monkeys back! 😁
Trishia K — Google review
Bever Park has to be one of my favorite little hidden gems of Cedar Rapids. It's rather simple but has a lot. From the play ground that was recently renovated, to the swimming pool, the petting zoo, their wonderful trail and lots of room for stretching your legs and getting a breath of fresh air. Located in what I consider one of the most stunningly beautiful areas of Cedar Rapids.
Michael S — Google review
Great park with a cute little farm nearby I recommend a visit
Curious T — Google review
I would leave no stars if it would let me. What is the point of having drive on playgroun Equipment, if that's all there is for accessibility????? There is no accessible swings or any other equipment for somebody that is in a wheelchair. So basically you made stroller ramps for able bodied kids 😞
Melissa G — Google review
Nice visit to the Old Macdonald Farm. It is a small petting zoo at the park. Exhibits were great and well designed. Animals looked healthy and happy! It is not large so won't take a lot of time but you can go in with all the animals so that would extend the time.
Lori K — Google review
Not a lot of animals but they are clean, friendly, and look well kept. Little petting zoo is free but runs off of donations.
Tabitha G — Google review
I took my toddler to Old MacDonald’s farm here and she was obsessed. We were able to pet all the animals and explore the duck pond. We visited right after a rain storm, so it wasn’t very busy. I would love to go back and explore more of what Bever Park has to offer someday.

Nature & Parks
Thomas Park in Marion is a bustling hub of outdoor activities, featuring a disc golf course, ice rink, splash pad, and sledding hill. The expansive playground at the park's entrance is a major draw for adventurous kids. Additionally, visitors can enjoy volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, bike trails, tennis courts and more. The park offers plenty of shade and seating areas for families to relax and picnic.
Excellent walking path located right outside Cedar Rapids!!! Most of the path is concrete closer to the park and crushed gravel farther away from the park. Trails were well maintained and it was a great exercise experience for my walk. Trails meander along a creek with rapids at several locations. Also through woods and frisbee golf course. Very enjoyable!!! Enjoy!!!
William U — Google review
When I went over to Thomas Park, I saw it had plenty of kids playing. The playground was getting plenty of use and no issues came up. It did look like it could use a little more upkeep but the kids seemed happy. I could understand the splash pad being closed due to the season, but seeing the main restrooms closed down was surprising. Fortunately, there was a separate stall for use. The pathways offer a great opportunity for walkers and joggers alike. Whether someone wants to take a relaxing walk or get some long distance training in, the paths are wide enough for plenty of people and offer a reasonable amount of incline. Overall, it’s a nice place to hang out at or to get away from a busy life and relax.
Aaron R — Google review
This is a huge park with a splash pad, 2 playground and a massive sandbox! There are 3 very large covered areas with power and trash cans would be very good spot for patty’s or a family reunion! We love the big playground! Basketball courts and walking trail are great as well! Lots to do for all ages.
Trent — Google review
I love this park!!! Listening to Indian Creek flow is so relaxing. Beautiful area for photos and a picnic. (Due to recent rain, the water in the creek is higher than normal and it's usually clear to see the bottom).
M S — Google review
A wonderful park along first ave on the border of marion and cedar rapids. They have multiple shelters that you can rent. A nice playground with kid swings as well.as swings for older kids. A sand pit to play in or dig in. A splash pad. Basketball courts i believe 4. Disc golf course. Area to play soccer. A paved trail to run and walk on.
Craig B — Google review
Fun place with park, splash pad, covering eating areas, great walking path and all around clean area. Also has a bathroom on site. Wish they had more garbage cans for as large as the area is. Nice parking as well.

Nice park for the kids to run around and enjoy!

Very clean. I particularly used the Marion HS Track every morning while on vacation. Very nice. Update 1.12.23: Sad to see the Marion Track and historic Football Stadium was razed. I now have moved over to using the beautiful trails from Thomas Park. 4.17.23- I have started to venture into the old Marion Cemetery. What a nice history lesson. Really worth checking out if you are in the area. Highly recommend! 9.21.23- New Parkview Elementary School Construction in place of old HS Football Field/Track

Guthridge Park, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is a sprawling recreational park offering a variety of amenities for visitors. The park features numerous sports courts including softball diamonds, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, and tennis courts. Additionally, it boasts a splash pad and a .8-mile paved walking trail for leisurely strolls. Visitors can also enjoy sitting-style pavilions and an open-stage pavilion along with a mini outdoor amphitheater featuring artwork.
This park is one of our favorites in Cedar Rapids. It has everything that we like in a park. A lit of open space, a variety of playgrounds, and a splash pad for our young family members. Shelter houses for big events or reunions. There is tons of parking for everyone. They have paths as well. The bathrooms are nicely maintained and clean. The City of Hiawatha shows how much they care about this vy how well they keep it. This is a park dog friendly. Walking your dogs is great, with lots of trees and open areas. Which means you can picnic just as much. We've been coming for years and plan to keep on.
Anthony F — Google review
They have a nice playground, soccer court, tennis court, pickleball courts, splash pad. New convenient parking next to the soccer and pickleball courts. Pavilions, grills.
Craig B — Google review
This is a decent mid-size park. There is one sitting-style pavilion and one open-stage pavilion. There's also a mini outdoor amphitheater with three rows with some decent artwork. There are two playgrounds, one for toddlers and another (under renovation) for Elementary-aged kids. A splash pad is also functional, appropriate for smaller children. The two tennis courts are under renovation (as of July 2021). The trail is about half a mile (loop) with adequate shade. There are also two ball parks here (softball and baseball). The park is well manicured and the trees provide great shade for picnics or just relaxing. Note that this park is in the middle of a residential area, with an elementary school across the road on one end. I hope you'll enjoy the park as much as I did!
KanyibaPE — Google review
Just a few minutes off the main Expressway if you need to stretch your legs, eat and use the restroom. The park is well kept, clean, has bathrooms, a pavilion and walking paths all near the parking lot. Stroller and wheelchair friendly. Lots of shade.
Isaac C — Google review
My kids had lots of fun at this park and it was clean. A new playground structure is being built.
Tonya B — Google review
Love the park and the farmers market. Great place to spend time with family.
Hollie B — Google review
The playground part of the park could use a little work. But combined with the splash pad, baseball fields, and volleyball areas.. it really sets the vibe of the park in a good direction.
Sean S — Google review
If Hiawatha wants to level this park up even more, add a small-medium sized skatepark (see Butterfield Skatepark in Marion as example)

We’ve (my family) have throughly enjoyed all of our ICNC experiences. Just last night we went to a film festival. We’ve taken many classes, including chicken keeping, how to raise bees, willow weaving, nighttime hikes. We’ve rented their snowshoes. I’ve even taught a full moon yoga class through ICNC. We look forward to the Maple Syrup Festival and the annual plant sale. ICNC has something for everyone, fulfilling their mission to provide nature education. They have indoor displays and a small but well appointed gift shop, with delightful products, local eggs and honey, and fun stuff for the kids.
Tammy B — Google review
Educational, specially for the kids. Trails were nice, parking was good. Recommended for a nice quiet afternoon.
Paul K — Google review
The all-terrain wheelchairs allowed our whole family to enjoy the trails together, for the first time in years! The guide was gracious and helpful in showing us how to use the chairs and pick the best trails-and even loaning us bug repellent to be more comfortable. We’re anxious to come back in the fall for a longer hike in cool weather.
Melissa S — Google review
We were trying to find something to do between drop-offs at the airport. It was a nice day so we were looking for something to do outside. We saw the review which mentioned all-terrain wheelchairs so thought we would try it since my wife needs to use a walker or wheelchair and also really enjoys plants. The staff person was helpful, the wheelchair was easy to use and maneuver and allowed all of us to see parts of the grounds.
Marcus M — Google review
This nature preserve and protected prairie meadow is a treasure in Linn County. There are beautiful walking trails through all kinds of terrain; wooded, river side and winding through the meadow. Birds and other wildlife are visible with quiet and patience. The changing seasons here are a delight to the senses. Take the time to enjoy the interactive nature center and event space where you will learn about native habitat, plant identification, and bird and animal characteristics. A very nice gift shop is at the center. Update: The beauty of a nature center and its trails are that it has changing vistas, ever blooming wildflowers, birds, and insects. My favorite season is August, when the many varied prairie meadow grasses are nodding in the wind. Dragonflies are abundant. Update: Once again, a visit to the Indian Creek nature center revives the spirit and calms the soul. The golden meadow of December is just as beautiful to me as the fresh green of spring.
Ann M — Google review
I was excited to see that the old blue bridge was saved and made part of the walking trail! Inside the center was very cool, lots of interactive things and a cool birding room.
Cody P — Google review
A great place e for the kids to learn about how we relate to nature and can not be so intrusive to other mammals, birds and other wildlife. They also have lots of interesting camps for time kids

Great park with pavilions, got our money worth with the one we rented for a Gender Reveal party we had. Thought we were responsible for the trash in the cans, but the park guy said that they would take care of it after we left. I would recommend renting the pavilion if you need them.

It's a very nice park next to the river with pretty views, basketball court, swimming pool, Pavillion, playground, horseshoes, and there's a garden that is always so beautiful.

Wanatee Park, located on the outskirts of Marion near Highway 100, offers a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding. The park includes K9 Acres, an off-leash area for dogs to run and socialize within its 11 fenced acres. Campers can enjoy well-maintained sites with amenities like cement patios, firepits, and picnic tables.
Excellent off leash dog exercise area that is separate from the dog park. My dog loves going here. This area is for well behaved dogs as it is not fenced in. Photos are from late fall & middle of summer. There are other trails for hiking but dogs must be on leash on the trails. The park has a very nice, unique playground at the campground.

We arrived at 10pm due to vehicle troubles. Site was easy to locate and hookups easy to find. The next day we departed but again had vehicle troubles. We were able to get our camper towed back to a FCFS spot. I paid for 3 days but later found out our vehicle would be done in the morning. The park ranger was able to change our reservation and refund the extra. My teen children then decided they wanted to shower. They are both picky but gave the showers 5 ⭐️. This park is clean, quiet, relaxing and very serene. Will visit again.
Heather N — Google review
We have stayed at many dozens of campgrounds all over the country, and this campground had the most spacious and well-kept sites we’ve ever seen. The bathhouse was what you’d expect at a county park, nothing special. The location was beautiful with bunnies and the most fireflies we’d ever seen, and it was quiet considering how close you are to civilization.
Laura K — Google review
This park has really nice trails and I love the quiet. The kids park is not impressive at all but the bike ride was nice and smooth. There are camping grounds, gold course, dog park and more. Definitely a considerable option for an event
Avril J — Google review
We’ve camped in 9 states and I think this is the best run, nicest, cleanest, most beautiful campground we've ever stayed at. Full hookup and conveniently located on the pull through campsite all in excellent condition for $35 a night. No wonder the campsites are in such demand.
Martha G — Google review
Excellent place for hiking, walking your dog, riding your bike and enjoying nature trails!!
Alinga G — Google review
Beautiful campground, well maintained and spacious. Bathroom/showers are extremely clean. This is our 3rd year to stay here and our last campground on our trip. Hope to be back next year!!
Lisa C — Google review
We stayed in the park and rented the venue for a wedding. It is a very nice and maintained park but pretty expensive. If you plan on just staying in the RV park, it’s fine. The venue however is a nightmare. We went to look at the venue and they have an extensive checkout list and park rangers that are disrespectful and rude. In one particular situation after the wedding was done and the DJ was picking up their equipment, one park ranger came in yelling at the bride and groom and their family which was very uncalled for. The only saving grace for this venue was the manager himself. Very nice and respectful man. Don’t recommend renting the venue if you’re planning on it.

It's a haven for anglers and nature enthusiasts, offering activities like fishing, ice fishing, boating, hiking, biking, and picnicking. The park features a 1.7-mile paved pathway around the central lake, making it perfect for joggers and cyclists to enjoy the natural beauty.
Great parking and trails, and it looked like there was quite a bit of access for fishing. I was there for wildlife photography, and it offered plenty of opportunities for that as well. There appeared to be a couple different species of turtles, lots of different birds, and while I couldn't find the frogs, I could hear some!

Even though we haven’t been very successful in the fish catching portion of this park, its a beautiful and well kept park with lots of trail to walk around the water. We were able to hook a rainbow last visit so not too bad. My son loves playing in the sand and walking the shoreline.
Brandon B — Google review
I love walking on the trail around the lake here. It is so beautiful and peaceful, especially at sunset. It is a clean, safe, and quiet park for walking or riding your bike. There is plenty of parking in the lot. They even have benches around the park and trail to sit by the water. I will be back soon.

Beautiful, calm and sanctuary like lake. Plenty of stocked fish, abundant amount of wildlife including birds, reptiles, fish and more. Peaceful place to paddle or kayak on your own or with friends. Water is clear (deep in certain areas) and calm allowing a kayaker or paddle boarder at any level to enjoy this fishery. Very large can spend hours if you like touring around the water to see what it has to offer. Highly recommend visiting. Plenty of parking and docking areas. Well kept and maintained!

Nestled in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the Wickiup Hill Learning Center is a fantastic destination for nature enthusiasts and families alike. Spanning an impressive 750 acres, this educational haven features diverse habitats such as wetlands, prairie woodlands, and savanna areas. Visitors can immerse themselves in bird and wildlife viewing or embark on cross-country skiing adventures during winter months.
My best friend and I went for a morel mushroom hunt here this past weekend with the Mushroom Club and had an absolute BLAST. Chuck was such an amazing guide, we learned so so much from all of the wonderful people that we hiked with. My friend and I were more interested in the bugs and wildlife, but we did find quite a few mushrooms! I've always loved coming to Wickiup, since I was a youngster. Whether it's for bird watching, a nice hike, or just a tour of the inside and activities there, it's always been so wonderful. They have a lovely and knowledgeable staff who are always happy to share their wisdom. This is where my love of the outdoors was born and I can never thank them enough. 💚💚💚

We've had the most enjoyable day outdoors at The Wikiup Hill Learning Center, part of the Linn county conservation area, There are Walking trails, a wetlands observation area, an interactive playground area, picnic spots, and more. There are birds in abundance. I imagine that this will be a prime spot to hear the spring peepers in a few weeks. I look forward to attending some programs that the learning center provides. The Linn county conservation newsletter can be found online, which gives details of these events.

I only briefly looked inside, but it looked like a great place to take kids to learn about the area. The trails in the park are awesome and offer a nice variety of ecosystems to explore. The wooded playground area is amazing. I wish it were there when my kids were younger (maybe I'll take grandkids there some day).

Great place to interact with nature. Plenty to do for children in the learning center as well as outside. The playground area is very well done and signs are posted everywhere describing the area.

We had a great time with our 1 year old! He really enjoyed the water table and all the areas to crawl through. We will definitely be back!

We like the nature center and also the outdoor playground. When you come to the nature center, you’ll read 3 chapter and write the last chapter with your own adventure. Enjoy watching the 🐦 while the kids have their own adventures.

Wickiup Hill is a great place for ALL ages kiddos and adults. Well run and organized. Staff is polite and nice and helpful. We've gone there several times in summer and winter and the kiddos were never bored. Discovered the unique playground on today's visit. Neat zipline apparatus. It looked like there is area to eat a picnic lunch outside. Lots of nice trails to explore. We highly recommend Wickiup Hill!

Morgan Creek Park is a vast county park spanning 230 acres. It offers a variety of amenities, including a family campground with powered and watered campsites. The park also boasts an arboretum, butterfly garden, and an extensive trail system. Visitors can indulge in the beauty of numerous splendid trees at the arboretum, although most were not yet in bloom or bearing fruit. The park is teeming with diverse wildlife such as birds and insects, both exquisite and less appealing.
Amazing. The park was absolutely packed with a variety of culture. Everyone played well together, the play equipment was original and unlike any other my kids had ever expiriended. two thumbs up.

We went to the park while traveling for baseball. My two youngest children absolutely loved it. There were a lot of different unique parts of the park, that we had never seen anywhere else before. It's even big enough for adults to climb on and still have room to move. We would definitely recommend checking it out!

Although the sentimental part of me misses the old playground I grew up with along with the trails and the evil tornado slide, the newer playground is absolutely amazing. The kids are obsessed. Many different play options for all ages.

Great park with exceptional and amusing playgrounds for kids of all ages. There’s also picnic spot and campground for family gatherings. I would rate it to be one of the best parks around! Would come back whenever I have a chance!

Nice walking trails, pretty creek, great playground and picnic areas. Update - the park has been redone and is gorgeous. Paved walking trails, abundant green space, different beautiful areas so people aren't crowding one another.

Very nice place with a fun playground. They have a cool metal slide but I couldn't slide down it as there was a lot of friction between my shorts and the metal. Just your normal every day cloth shorts. Same with my daughter. But the playground is very fun and there are nice walking trails.
Joneric W — Google review
My son calls this place “the green ballpark” — and it’s hands-down his favorite place to go. He’s only six years old, but he absolutely loves the playground and never gets tired of walking the trails. We’ve been coming here for the past three years, and every single time, he’s full of energy and ready to explore. One of his favorite adventures is hiking to what he calls “Green Ball Beach” — a little sandy spot by the creek off one of the walking trails. The walk is at least half a mile, and he happily does it every time, usually before and after spending time on the playground. There’s also a non-enclosed off-leash area for dogs, a great campground, and a peaceful memorial tree area. In our opinion, this is the best park in the state of Iowa.

We love Morgan Creek Park. Even though we usually have to drive clear across town to go there. They have a newly developed playground where kids of all ages can have fun and burn some energy. The restrooms are usually really clean considering they have a decent size crowd. Plenty of room for walking around.

Fun new structures at this park, lots of different areas. Nice walking trail and a cool looking splash pad that we will definitely be back for next summer!! (Too cold this visit)
Casandra R — Google review
This is one of our favorite parks! The playground itself isn't very big, but it has new equipment. I also love that it has a new Mary go round, but they've been able to keep the old one, too. The walking trail is really nice, and well maintained. The splash pad is decent, also, and there are at least 2 pavilions. We always check out the free library by the splash pad, too, and it usually has a great selection of books, activity books, and magazines for kids and adults. I would rate 5, but there were no garbage cans there today, and there was trash all over the ground around the playground.

Nestled in the heart of Cedar Rapids, Daniels Park spans approximately 24 acres and offers a range of activities for visitors. The park features amenities such as a playground, basketball court, splash pad, and expansive open areas suitable for various games. Additionally, there are picnic areas equipped with grills and ample seating capacity. Families can enjoy the well-maintained playgrounds designed with safety in mind, including separate areas for toddlers and older kids.
Great Park. Accessible, clean, in a diverse neighborhood where a park is really beneficial. Ball fields, playground equipment, shelter houses. They've upgraded the ball fields, looks like they have invested some cash in it. It seems much 'neater' today, also, though they do need more accessible trash cans.
Mary S — Google review
Daniel's Park is a vast, fully equipped park and recreation space. There is a picnic area that has a built in grill (bring your own charcoal or heating agent) and plenty of room to host 30+ individuals comfortably. The eating/meeting area has a roof to protect individuals from rain and hail. There is a fully developed park with swings, slides and bridges which are built with child safety in mind. There is a dual drinking fountain for both adults and kids located near a connected bathroom with individual restrooms for both men and women. There is a vast amount of open space for whatever your needs entail along with a basketball court. Last but not least, there is a splash pad for family entertainment as well as keeping yourself cool on warm summer days.
Kory K — Google review
There's an okay playground for the younger children, while the older ones can utilize the baseball field and basketball court. I admit, I struggled, I could only find one entrance, which is off of Oakland Rd.
L C — Google review
The splash pad and playground are fairly nice and clearly popular, which itself is part of the problem with this park. Cigarette butts litter the whole park, and there was broken glass from bottles around any place someone might sit. Given children were running around barefoot, it's amazing there wasn't more bloody footprints.
Jason A — Google review

Large park, with 2 playgrounds, 1 of which is newer, and the other is basically for toddlers and younger children. Also a splash pad, basketball court, 2 pavilions, lots of green space, and a baseball diamond that is only used for kohawks games now. My kids love this park, and it's right by our house. It's a spacious, and pretty area, and there's always lots of other kids there, so my kids always make new friends. The bathrooms and water fountain are horrendous, I don't recommend using them.

Beautiful park right in downtown Marion great place to eat lunch or walk around. Love getting out of the office and visiting this park the old train is very cool as well! They do have restrooms but they are kind of gross. Tons of picnic tables as well even an old cannon kind of neat!

If your looking for a very nice spot for an event. Don't pass this one up. This is my view as a visitor from another state. Beautiful!

I love it. It's amazing how many people love congregating together for an evening outside with family and friends. The band dogs on skies was fantastic. The best one so far. The food is great. The weather has been awesome almost every Thursday evening. Wishing there were a few more food trucks and maybe a funnel cake or two. LoL 😃 thanks Marion for June and August Thursday nights. The Emery's love it
JamesLynn E — Google review
Love the quaint "small town" feel of this park and the free Thursday night concerts in June that we enjoyed there. Only thing keeping it from a fifth star is no public bathrooms in spite of the size of the park and the covered picnic table area there. Hard to believe. Using Porta potties in the dark definitely took away some charm. Otherwise, a nice experience.😊 No play ground area that I saw, but there is an old train car to honor the train depot it used to be, I believe, and the library is currently across the street- though we've heard they're getting a new one? Not sure why as this one looks very nice from the outside anyway... Nice Green space surrounded by great coffee and pizza options, as well as other shops to enjoy.

Shawnee Park is a charming and serene destination that offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. While it may be small in size, its peaceful atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for leisurely walks or simply unwinding in nature.
This park provides a quiet, peaceful hilltop experience. I noticed that the wading pool has been removed. That provided lots of refreshing entertainment for the neighborhood kids and their parents. The city decided they were a health hazard! It must be healthier for them to sit at home in front of the TV or on their phones?!? Are they going to close all the creeks next? SHAME ON THE CITY!!!

This park is also awesome in the winter. A valley through in is the perfect place to go sledding. You go down one side up the other and back again. We like it better than Jones Park because there's not a parking lot at the end of the hill. Yet that is nice too. You can have someone pick you up and go back to the top without climbing the hill.

Mount Trashmore Hiking and Flow Trails in Iowa offers a unique outdoor experience. Despite its name, it's not an actual trash heap but a landscaped hill with well-maintained trails leading to the summit. The staff is attentive, ensuring hikers' safety and trail upkeep. While the nearby landfill may cause occasional odors, the views from the top are rewarding. Hikers can choose from two different trails to reach the summit, offering great views and opportunities for wildlife sightings.
The only thing I can take issue with here is the smell from the nearby landfill. However, that’s to be expected and it doesn’t always become apparent depending on where the wind blows. The staff here is very diligent about keeping the trails well maintained and the hikers safe. They have friendly and helpful demeanors that make this place worth coming back to. Hikers have two different trails to take to the summit. While not the most strenuous of trails, the incline can provide a challenge to those unused to moderate exertion. On the other hand, it’s great training for those preparing for running competitions. The view at the top is pretty cool, being able to see lots of downtown Cedar Rapids, particularly the Alliant Building. It’s also the site of the relatively new Mt Trashmore Challenge (climb to the summit 140 times within the season). The challenge offers prizes that can be redeemed in the Czech Village and Newbo Market. Whether you plan to enter the challenge or just want to see Cedar Rapids from a different angle, the trails of Mt. Trashmore can provide a great view.
Aaron R — Google review
Best view of the Cedar Rapids skyline and a unique hiking experience. Limited access hours, check website to confirm the hours of operation or closures. Short, easy trails that work for all ages and ability levels. Flow mountain bike downhill, great for beginners. Nice seating area with city view at the top of the hike. As this is an old landfill, there is no shade from trees. Plan the time of your hike and attire to feel comfortable in the full sun.
Katy S — Google review
A little bit of something different to do in cedar rapids. Go climb a 200 ft incline of a mountain that was the city's dump for about 50 years. Great views of downtown the river and other parts of the city from the top. You. An choose to take the trail or the road to the top. There is also a path for bikes.
Craig B — Google review
Best views of the city from here. I really love that they have opened this up as a trail. It’s a fairly easy inclined trail that can be done multiple times if you really want more exercise. There’s a trail for bikes which I wish I had a mountain bike to hit.

First time visiting. Very nice walk, not technical, gets your blood flowing. Nice view of the city and a great use of land, very interesting.
Paul K — Google review
This was a clever idea, to turn a former landfill into a recreational spot. I was there while visiting my 88-year-old father, and since he has a handicap tag, we took the easy way and drove up (you have to have such a tag in order to do so). You get a breathtaking view of the city from up there. It also has trails that you can walk or bike on, which I would probably do once in a while if I lived in CR myself, and I believe there is also a picnic area.

Went to do some family hiking on a somewhat dreary day in March. It seemed somewhat limited in topography, but for our area, that's not shocking. Not as interesting as the Palisades, but worth an exploration!

Manhattan/Robbins Lake Park in Cedar Rapids is a sprawling 140-acre nature reserve that's a haven for sports fishermen. The park offers an ideal setting for family get-togethers and fishing excursions, with various species like Bluegill, Channel Catfish, Common Carp, Green Sunfish, and Bass available to catch. Additionally, the park hosts an annual fundraising event called Fish-a-Rama in August.
Pelicans were spending a beautiful day on the Cedar River. Nice area for a picnic, walk along the river.

We walked the perimeter of the lake at just the right time to watch the sunset. Pretty. It is loud with the roads right there, all the geese and lots of people and traffic in this area, but it's a nice scenic place to chill by water or go for a little urban walk.

Great for family get together and if you love fishing it is a great place to take your kids to do some fishing and every year the first weekend in August they have a fundraising event for the Boys&Girls club fish-a-rama it is a great event for the whole family which you purchase a wrist band and for the 2 day event you fish and try to catch fish as with colored tags to win prizes and full of fun well worth it and for a great cause!!

Great place to put in for a nice easy kayak float- we usually put in on the Cedar, paddle south along the shore & turn left in to the pond. If the river's running fast, you can go in on the NE side of the pond. It's small, but generally quiet and peaceful.

If other people would pick up their trash when they leave it would be a lot nicer. The fishing here is pretty good.

Beautiful park on the river. Something for everyone to do at the park. Great place for a family outing or to come to alone to sit and think about things. One of the best parks in Cedar Rapids area. Squeaky clean restrooms. I was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended this park!

It'd be a 5 star if people would take the trash out that they bring with them. Overall peaceful place to fish early in the morning.
Dominic R — Google review
Definitey not a bad spot for picniking, fishing, or just walking around hanging out. As far as swimming goes I'm not 100 percent sure you can swim here. So you may want to look for signs before you enter the water here for a fun day in the sun. Kind of a difficult spot to fish. I have most certainly caught bluegil, bass, and channel catfish. But it is my opinion there are many better places to fish in and around Cedar Rapids.
Elgin C — Google review
Wonderful place to kayak, paddle board or jet ski/boat. River is open and wide allowing you to have almost limitless distance. Beautiful in the morning and afternoon. Would be careful kayaking pst sunset due to limited visibility. Was able to rent a perfect paddle board at SOKO Outfitters who also provided a large variety of kayak rentals as well. Staff setup the board on top of my car extremely helpful and nice. All equipment was top notch and clean. Including life vests something that’s usually a rarity.

Mohawk isn't a busy park. It's a good spot to just look out at the water, or sit quietly away from people. It's right across the water from Ellis, in a sort of industrial area, so the water is pretty much it. There's a Pavillion and boat dock for later this season when people are coming out more but there's not much here except quiet.

Not a huge place not a bunch of amenities ,but by golly if you want a walk that says forest ,creek with running water, maybe a squirrel barking out orders oh yeah and let's not forget a deer or two or three. Yup all that in town within a block of food, gas, beer, prescriptions, hardware. Not bad at all.

Cherokee Park is a lovely recreation area gently tucked behind Walgreens. There is a long, wide road that runs from Johnson Ave to the other end of the park. There is a parking area by the park sign and several dirt cutouts on the shoulder of the road, parkside. Running through the center of the park is a rainwater channel with natural foliage and intermittent barriers to protect anyone from slipping down the hill. The park has looping trails around the spillway. There is a mix of gravel and paved paths loosely separated into 3 distinct areas. The paved trail follows the outside parameter completely. The gravel paths connect various recreation areas and lead over the bridge on the western end of the park. Near the parking area, there is a calisthenics space with instructional plaques on the various movements with a focus on their benefits for flexibility and mobility. Cherokee Park is covered in natural foliage and is the perfect escape from Edgewood.
Zack K — Google review
My son and I enjoyed the walking trail at Cherokee Trail Park. The few people that were there, were very pleasant to be around. The wide open area in the center of the 1/2 mile trail, made a nice area to launch my new drone. I would recommend this area for a place to relax or to get up and run the trail.
Don J — Google review
This was my first exposure to this lovely park. I have visited this Fair community to see my sister on many occasions, but I have not been to Cherokee Park until today. It is a very attractive scene with a wetlands area in the middle set aside for the overflow from the rainfall that is sometimes abundant in nature. The only correction I would make is that the trail, being gravel and not paved, can be dangerous or at least hazardous for a senior citizen. You have to be on the lookout as you walk to avoid tripping and that is especially true if you are carrying a small child. All things being considered Cherokee Park appears to be a wonderful addition to a fine community. I hope many people have a chance to go there frequently and walk. They even have a station where you can exercise with various outdoor machines that have been placed there. The only other point I would like to make, that is slightly negative, is that you must be sure to guard small children from falling into the creek that runs through this beautiful Park. The city of Cedar Rapids is to be commended for allowing this beautiful part to exist and maintaining it for the community.
Darrell P — Google review
Cherokee Park is very fun to walk around at, and it even has a fitness station in the center of the park that anyone can enjoy! As of recently a lot of the natural scenery is gone from the derecho so its not as beautiful and it has yet to be cleaned up but even still Cherokee is a great place to hang out and walk around!

Love how the theme of this children's water play area is a firestation!! There is a fire hydrant to turn on the water, fireman cut-outs to stand behind for a water fight as well as hose nozzles! Lots of fountains and even a small bucket on top of the roof that spills over. Well maintained & so much fun for kids of all ages.
Lucy M — Google review
Very cute splash pad. Just like any other splash pad water is freezing! There are 2 benches and 2 picnic tables, so not very much seating for parents to watch their littles from. But you can easily set up a blanket or something on the grass. There's a bunch of open space. Parking lot is very very small. Only one trash can that is not close to the splash pad. My kids enjoy coming here. Its not very busy which we like.
Elizabeth N — Google review
Dandy little place to host picnics and such for a few guests. 1 Picnic table but lots of lawn space. No trash/recycle receptical and limited parking.
Keri S — Google review
My 3 and 6 year old love this splash pad. Decent playground too, everything is well-maintained. The bummer is that so many trees went down in the derecho, so it's a lot sunnier than it used to be. Luckily, our favorite shade tree to the west of the splash pad survived and offers enough nice shade for a few families. Also, the parking lot is small and the only restroom is an accessible (larger sized) porta potty next to the parking lot, although it's well-maintained too.
Lindsey F — Google review
I'd read reviews about how great this was, so maybe my expectations were too high. It wasn't as big or offer as many different things as I was thinking there would be, but it was good. The kids all seemed to be having a blast, but it seemed best suit d for kids four and up maybe...? Our 21 month old granddaughter was a little intimidated by it and didn't really run in the water much. Nice grassy area around it with trees for shade and a playground next to it, with our granddaughter seemed to enjoy the most. For a free place to cool off on a hot day, hard to beat though! (Son in law did note the temp seemed about 15 degrees cooler than one they'd just visited in Indy...he thought the temp might be part of her avoidance of the spray...?)
Susan P — Google review
This is a great place to take the kids and grandchildren to in the summer on those hot days. The splash area has about a half dozen different areas where they can play until their hearts are content. There are plenty of seats for the adults to use while watching the kids have a ball playing. Best of all it's free. The rest of the park has large open areas perfect for those large area games like frizzby or soccer or baseball or bocce. There is only a single picnic table though.
Perry C — Google review
Small parking lot, limited seating and tables, few trees for shade, port-a-potty for bathroom. This is a highly used park by locals because the splash pad itself is so nice, but bring your chairs and whatever you need because there isn't much. Located on the edge of a golf coarse on a busy street. It needs a pavilion and walking trail.
Lucy J — Google review
Fantastic place for young and old children! Multiple squirt guns and dump buckets. 3 picnic benches that can be moved in the shade and 2 stationary blue benches. On top of all that, there is a medium sized park 50 feet away. I highly recommend this area.

Tomahawk Park is a charming and serene destination that offers the essentials for a delightful family outing. With its swings, slides, and jungle gym, it’s perfect for kids to burn off some energy while exploring the surroundings. The park features picnic tables and benches, making it an ideal spot for families to relax together. Although parking can be a bit limited, the well-maintained grounds create an inviting atmosphere that feels almost private.

This is not actually a good park for toddlers. The smaller slide that is toddler appropriate is not toddler accessible because there are no steps leading to it and the ladder is too widely spaced for small feet. Even older kids might have trouble climbing the equipment as several of the ladders are hard even for an adult to climb.

A walking trail, picnic areas, multiple places to sit, opportunities to learn bird identification and the history of the area. At the parks entrance is the unique and striking piece of sculptural art. There are carefully tended new trees planted among the established growth that survived the 2020 derecho. The playground has multiple play areas and varied equipment for fun. While we were there, a few dog walkers made their way around the trail. A restroom is available close to the parking area. 33Sokol Park

10 Jun 2023 — We were in the NewBo area and wanted to find a trail to walk along the river. We checked the map and saw this green space called Sokol Park that has the Cedar River Trail going through it. Having a defined access point with nearby parking is really nice. We entered the trail on the river side of the levee and returned on the path that goes over the levee. It's unusual to have someone set aside a park in a potential flood area — but Cedar Rapids is known for being unusual... as in "unusually amazing" and in this case unusually thoughtful. What's more common in such areas is to let them be untended and unusable - filling up with weeds, trash, rocks, sticks, and spray paint on any available surface. With Sokol park, there are nice clean trails for walking and biking. The grass is maintained which helps reduce bugs for those enjoying the space. We saw some geese roaming around. There is a store near the park called SOKO Outfitters which is worth checking out if you're in the area. Also, explore the Czech Village. Congratulations to Cedar Rapids for creating nice outdoor spaces and interesting neighborhood destinations.

The splash pad was great for my granddaughter but when we went over to the playground I was very upset to see someone had drawn inappropriate things on the playground equipment and unfortunately my 7 year old granddaughter seen these things and pointed them out to me 🤯 and she was upset by them I was furious. There was a man there who had his dog in the splash pad and he was drinking the water and walking through it 😮 there should be signs posted that say no dogs allowed in the splash pad!!
