Non-profit organization
Cedar Rapids Museum of Art boasts a collection of over 7,000 works that emphasizes on American art from the 20th century. The museum is cozy and not too large, making it a pleasant space to explore. Notably, the museum features an impressive exhibition of Grant Wood's artwork, including his famous 'Woman with Plants.' Visitors can also enjoy other artworks such as Frieseke's 'Before the Window.'
Beautiful museum with lots of artwork and history to see and learn about! This museum holds the largest collection of Grant Wood works of art in the world, literally! We saw they were offering free admission for a limited time so we took advantage of that opportunity with having a group of people to take. Well worth the hour drive 🥰
Shellby — Google review
Wonderful museum in Cedar Rapids. I learned a lot about Grant Wood. Worth a visit if you're downtown. I appreciate the local artist exhibitions as well.
Jen B — Google review
Highly recommend visiting! I love and appreciate the free admission during the summer months. They have such beautiful and unique art pieces that will rotate sometimes. It is so fun coming back and seeing what is new. The staff are friendly and helpful in answering any questions you may have. The museum is quiet, clean, and spacious. There are plenty of areas for sitting, including a large sitting and reading room. I also love visiting their gift shop that has a wide variety of items for anyone’s taste or preference, even having a kids section. We parked in front of the museum on the street, which is free on evenings and weekends. Looking forward to my next visit.
Megan — Google review
We happened to visit on a day that was free. Parts of the building have a mild mildew smell to it, I’m not a fan of that. That aside the seeing art with the kids was fun. It’s two stories and there’s a gift shop. Be prepared to pay well beyond retail value for everything except a soda at the gift shop.
Sarah S — Google review
I'll go ahead and give them five stars because it was free the day/time I went, and they don't force you to exit thru the gift shop. Otherwise it's a bit small but since I don't know what they charge even I won't judge them for that. What they did have was generally pretty impressive, the Grant Wood collection was surprisingly beautiful. The Roman section had some great historic items as well. There's as a large focus on local Iowa artists, and a lot of landscape works at the moment at least. Plenty of free parking in the area on weekdays, I saw a garage too but don't know the situation. Staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely worth checking out. Building is old and pretty cool.
Joe S — Google review
Absolutely delightful! Warm and welcoming staff. Quiet and spacious - allowing you to absorb yourself in the transcend environment. You really must go!
Terry M — Google review
Clean, friendly and organized. Good selection of local art, just small in size. Good way to soak up 30 min if needed!
Eric S — Google review
I really enjoyed my first visit to this wonderful museum; my primary purpose was to see their Grant Wood collection. I phoned ahead of time to better understand their holdings as well as their relationship to the Grant Wood studio a few blocks away. I was fortunate enough to speak with Sean, the Executive Director, who went above and beyond to not only answer my basic questions, but also to provide many suggestions as to how to maximize my visit, including his recommendation to ensure that I view their works by Marvin Cone, whom I was not familiar with. I am grateful for Sean's guidance, and am now a new fan of Cone. The museum has a well-rounded curation, and features a variety of types paintings, sculpture, and ceramics, to name a few, as well as a fantastic museum store. I highly recommend a visit.

Lion Bridge Brewing Co. is a popular brewery nestled in Cedar Rapids Czech Village, offering a diverse selection of craft beers and delectable food options. The spacious taproom and outdoor patio provide a laid-back setting to savor their award-winning brews and eclectic menu, which includes Eastern European-inspired dishes like Pierogies as well as global favorites such as Arancini and Mexican Street Corn Dip. With its inviting atmosphere, rustic decor, and friendly staff, Lion Bridge Brewing Co.
We love Lion Bridge beer, so we had to stop in on our way through Cedar Rapids. We each had a flight and we shared the soft pretzel with cheese dip (yes, it is cold and supposed to be) and mustard, fries with garlic aoli, and the pierogis. Literally everything was fantastic. Service was good. The patio outside was really nice.
Dakota T — Google review
Came in on a Tuesday around dinner time and was able to find a spot right at the bar. The beertender sorted me out pretty quick and gave me the rundown on the options. All the beers on my flight felt like quality brews. I went with the pierogies as I’ve never had some before, and they were great with the cream and onions - pretty hearty considering. Definitely yummy food.
Frank B — Google review
Wonderful atmosphere along with very friendly people. The morel mushroom 🍄‍🟫 hunt was amazing. Music and food with Czech flare. Picked up some local honey and enjoyed live music.
Carlena P — Google review
If you like beer, there’s plenty to try. We don’t like beer; we just went for the food. Service was excellent. Our server was Rachel. The restaurant was clean, sparse decor (which I prefer). One huge screen with a game on, but plenty of seating far away from it. Outside seating available too. Food and drink: If you want water, you have to get it yourself from a water station. So… almost full-service? Coke products in cans. Hard slushee- flavor was blueberry-something- absolutely delicious Cheese curds- some of the best in town! Chicken salad sandwich- a little odd on pretzel bread. Nothing special. Served with potato chips unless you upgrade the side. Cheeseburger- wasn’t asked how I wanted it cooked. So I assumed it was a frozen patty and would be cooked medium well. This one was so pink I couldn’t eat most of it. Fries- I upgraded to house fries. Seasoned well, but they weren’t fully cooked. Couldn’t eat those either. Glad to have ordered the cheese curds. The rest of my meal I brought home to finish cooking.
Tammy B — Google review
Beer is stellar, but the food menu has changed. All that was available was pizza when we were there. Cool area though. Check out the show when the clock tower goes off. Much fun!
Jason L — Google review
First time here and we really enjoyed it. Nice beer selection, great service and decent food made this worth the stop. We loved the environment the most and the live music was a nice touch. We’ll definitely be back to check out the Czech Village again and I’m sure Lion Bridge will be a stop.
Brian O — Google review
A true gem in Eastern Iowa’s craft beer scene! These folks have been absolutely crushing it for years—consistently delivering top-tier brews and unbeatable service. Their IPAs like Majestic Beast, Off-Grid, and Wolf Shirt are some of the finest around—flavorful, and expertly crafted. Home Baked easily lands in my top 5 stouts of all time, and their sours? Rock solid and refreshing. The recent addition of Ian’s Pizza has taken the experience to the next level. If you haven’t tried their Mac & Cheese pizza, you’re seriously missing out—it’s phenomenal.
Matthew T — Google review
Above average IPAs, some fun sours, and decent traditional style beers. Decent pub food. Fish tacos are good. Chicken sandwiches were decent but seemed like it may have not been the freshest fryer oil based on how the breading tasted. Pierogis are a great snack as well!

NewBo City Market, situated in the New Bohemia neighborhood, is a thriving indoor market established in 2012 to revitalize the flood-devastated district. It features unique stores and eateries supporting local entrepreneurs and artists. The Rotary Hall at the heart of the market hosts independent food and craft vendors, a commercial kitchen, and special events. Additionally, it serves as an entrepreneurial incubator for small businesses.
This market had good food options and some fun shops as well. It wasn't very busy which surprised me during lunch time. However, lots to choose from. We got Pita's and it was very fresh and tasty. There was a lot of seating available on the otherside and this was a perfect place to stop on our 8 hour road trip from Minnesota to St. Louis.

Lots of neat shops!! Witchy shop, CBD shop, lots of good vendors (omg Indian food!!) Coffee djop- pretty awesome!
Maya R — Google review
I'm definitely going to start reading the negative reviews not just the most recent ones! This place is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like the images. Maybe 3 or 4 booths and same with tables. Mostly junk minus an excellent woodworker and a super sweet jewelry booth. Food looked average. If you are traveling through looking for something cool to do, dont bother with this one!
Julie H — Google review
Cool little market place in the New Bohemian distric. It has a selection of food, coffee, sweets and vendors. Was here in a Saturday, but it wasn't too busy. If you're in Cedar Rapids, stop here and check it out.
Brian A — Google review
Love this place for a drop in drink and/or bite. Usually has clean restrooms and good wifi. Great variety of eats and treats. Oja has the best wraps and cake rolls!! Roasters has the best smoothies!
Stacy C — Google review
There's always something new here, whether it be a new vendor, or the temporary vendors. Half sister took the business card of the person selling macarons and I wish I got a photo of it because they were both adorable and absolutely delicious. Can be crowded when they're busy, but it's a must-go for anyone who hasn't been and is looking for a snack or to kill some time walking around
Sarah B — Google review
Nice place to grab a bite and depending on weather, you can sit inside or outdoors. They also have trivia indoors for who may like to participate. I went on a wendsday afternoon not sure how often they do it but its a nice touch to eating and hanging with friends while doing trivia. Something to do in Cedar rapids, IA
Monica M — Google review
Loved this place!! So glad we decided to stop in on our visit to Cedar Rapids. Such a great concept-- wish we had this back home! There are a lot of food vendors, which was perfect because we were stopping by at dinnertime. Everyone in my group was able to get exactly what they wanted, kind of like a food court in a mall. I got a bulgogi wrap and matcha boba from Oja, and both were amazing. My truffles from Lori Ann's Candies were some of the best I've had (highly recommend the maple cream). The non-food vendors had some super cute items, which seemed reasonably priced. Definitely worth a trip in!

The Paramount Theatre is a grand location listed in the National Register of Historic Places that showcases various performing arts productions such as concerts, musicals, and ballet. The venue boasts impressive acoustics and offers a spacious yet cozy atmosphere with good views from all seats. The service staff are pleasant and prices for refreshments are reasonable. It is an exquisitely restored building with stunning architecture and artwork present throughout, making it an attraction worth visiting for any enthusiast of the performing arts scene.
I truly enjoyed visiting the Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids! It's absolutely stunning. We were the to watch Killer Queen. It was a great time all around!
Amanda K — Google review
As most have said this is an absolutely amazingly beautiful theater. It is an old theatre, so the seats are on the small side and being 6'4" the railings are quite low. We sat Row A Loge. Like "I decided against having a beer as I didn't want to plummet to my death" low. Other than that amazing show amazing venue great friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Dave B — Google review
The Paramount Theatre is a wonderful venue, with elegant architecture, and superb acoustics. My Wife and I have been to theatrical plays (such as Cats), concerts, like Mandisa and The News Boys, and a comedy presentation with Preacher Lawson. All events have been very enjoyable and we continue to keep a watchful eye out for future events.
James F — Google review
We are so fortunate to have this gem of a venue in Cedar Rapids. The property is so beautiful and completely restored after the 2008 flood. This a GREAT Place to take in a show. Our party of four attended The Kenny Wayne Shepherd concert they played a two hour non stop show and came back out for two more songs.
Len T — Google review
This is a beautiful place to see a show. It is a smaller, more personal venue. From the old ticket booth as the "Will Call", to the chandeliers, to the beautiful ceilings & interior, the venue itself is a show worth seeing. I saw Blue October in covert there, the sound was great as well. I will definitely go to shows here again.
Trish N — Google review
We went to see Swan Lake. The production was phenomenal! However, I'll say that the seating is extraordinarily tight. There is no shoulder room. If you're on the end of a row, be prepared to step into the aisle rather than just standing to let someone out... very VERY tight. I'm less than five feet tall, and it was uncomfortable for me to sit through the entire ballet. If the seating were spaced more comfortably, I would have quickly given five stars.
Faith W — Google review
The Paramount theater is a nice setting for plays, concerts and different kinds of shows. The acoustics are wonderful. The space is large, however it has a cozy feeling to it. There really are not any bad seats. The service people are nice and the refreshments are okay priced. It is a beautifully redone place well worth a visit. Just saw weird Al last night. Still a great place.
Jeremy S — Google review
Went to a comedy show here. It is a very classical style of theater with attractive features. The seating map online made our seats appear further back, but we were surprised by how much closer we were to the stage.

Cobble Hill is a vintage-chic restaurant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, offering creative New American dishes and specialty cocktails. The city of Cedar Rapids boasts world-class arts and culture, family-friendly festivals, a growing shopping scene, fabulous restaurants like Cobble Hill, award-winning wineries and breweries. The restaurant prides itself on valuing local products and showcasing a deep dedication to craft and technique in the kitchen. It aims to serve food with a story while providing the purest form of hospitality.
Cobble Hill: A Cozy Culinary Gem Worthy of Acclaim Cobble Hill offers a truly delightful dining experience, particularly for those seeking a warm and inviting atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, the cozy ambiance envelops you, making it the perfect spot for a special occasion or a relaxing evening out. The inviting chef's counter adds an intriguing element, allowing diners to witness the culinary magic firsthand. During my visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in the Parisian Gnocchi with lamb. Let me tell you, it was an absolute revelation. The lamb was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, a testament to the chef's skill and attention to detail. The gnocchi, light and pillowy, provided a perfect counterpoint to the rich, savory lamb. Each bite was an explosion of flavor, a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. The lamb leg, cooked to perfection, was equally impressive – flavorful, tender, and simply divine. The service at Cobble Hill was equally impressive. Our server was friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful recommendations and answering our questions with enthusiasm. Their passion for the food clearly shone through, enhancing the overall dining experience. While I can only speak to the dishes I tried, the quality of the Parisian Gnocchi and lamb suggests that the rest of the menu is equally inspired. Cobble Hill clearly prioritizes quality ingredients and expert preparation, creating dishes that are both comforting and sophisticated. It's easy to see why Cobble Hill is a James Beard Award semifinalist. I highly recommend Cobble Hill to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. The cozy atmosphere, exceptional food, and friendly, knowledgeable service make it a true culinary gem.
Trisha D — Google review
We an excellent experience at Cobble Hill! Everything was super tasty, and I really appreciated the seasonal menu. Since the menu changes frequently, it’s probably not worth describing each dish - but my husband and I loved everything we had! My fish was cooked perfectly, the appetizer was delicious, and we liked all of our drinks as well. Our server was knowledgeable and kept our meal right on pace. The building itself is super cute and the ambiance of the interior is perfect for a cute date night!
Kayla G — Google review
What an amazing tasting menu experience! The decor makes you feel like you've walked into a movie set from the 30s. Antique furniture gives vibes of opulence, yet everything is warm and inviting. Seating is comfortable. Reservations were easy, and you can tell they spent time and care crafting the tasting menu and wine parings. I was excitedvenough to trybeach course that I did not get everything written down. 1st course was Carrot, kolrabi, emuilison garlic and one of my favorites of the night. Next was Rice vermicelli noodles lime braised lamb toasted peanuts, scallions-'asian inspired' they said and while good, did not mesh with the rest. 3rd was Green Garlic veloute pork tenderloin, garlic scapes,- deviously creamy and not too strong. Next was Flar iron steak , asparagus in a sauce I'll be talking about for years. Finally ' floating Islands' a marshmellow, strawberry, mint and cream desert that stole the show. Service was impeccable, smart and friendly. Excellent all around. You deserve stars.

Cobble Hill is an absolute gem. The food was exceptional—each dish plated like a work of art and bursting with unforgettable flavor. The atmosphere is stunning, striking the perfect balance between warmth and sophistication. Service was personal, attentive, and made the entire experience feel special. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates fine dining done right. Bonus —Vegetarians are not forgotten 💕

My wife and I ate dinner here to celebrate our anniversary, and Cobble Hill did not disappoint! The atmosphere was intimate, the service exceptional, and the food was the best meal we have ever eaten. 1000% would eat here again!
Jason N — Google review
Everything, and I mean everything, was on point. Cobble hill is categorically one of the best restaurants in Iowa and arguably one of the best in the Midwest. The interplay between spices and the play of texture was unmatched. The service was unbelievably amazing. A++

I absolutely loved the charcuterie and enjoyed the pork shoulder. The staff were very kind and attentive. I definitely recommend this place. I also recommend that you get reservations.
Keith W — Google review
First time trying this restaurant. Menu always features unusual food choices that are not on a typical restaurant menu. i.e. Duck, Ratatouille, Venison not my idea of a great meal. However, we decided to try out the dessert menu because that's usually a safe choice. I was pleasantly surprised at the Gelato option. I tried a lemon balm infused with something.... Gelato was creamy but the flavor was so light it was hard to say it was lemony! Warm Cinnamon sugar dusted donuts filled with chocolate cream were served with pot de creme - chocolate cream topped with whipped soy milk. Interesting .

Indian Creek Nature Center, located on the outskirts of Cedar Rapids along the Cedar River, offers an expansive natural environment for outdoor activities and educational experiences. The center's 210 acres of diverse land include prairie, forest, and wetlands with scenic trails suitable for hiking, bird watching, cross-country skiing, and fishing. Visitors can also explore Amazing Space, a sustainable building featuring exhibits such as the Bird Room and interactive watershed table.
We’ve (my family) have throughly enjoyed all of our ICNC experiences. Just last night we went to a film festival. We’ve taken many classes, including chicken keeping, how to raise bees, willow weaving, nighttime hikes. We’ve rented their snowshoes. I’ve even taught a full moon yoga class through ICNC. We look forward to the Maple Syrup Festival and the annual plant sale. ICNC has something for everyone, fulfilling their mission to provide nature education. They have indoor displays and a small but well appointed gift shop, with delightful products, local eggs and honey, and fun stuff for the kids.

Educational, specially for the kids. Trails were nice, parking was good. Recommended for a nice quiet afternoon.

The all-terrain wheelchairs allowed our whole family to enjoy the trails together, for the first time in years! The guide was gracious and helpful in showing us how to use the chairs and pick the best trails-and even loaning us bug repellent to be more comfortable. We’re anxious to come back in the fall for a longer hike in cool weather.
Melissa S — Google review
We were trying to find something to do between drop-offs at the airport. It was a nice day so we were looking for something to do outside. We saw the review which mentioned all-terrain wheelchairs so thought we would try it since my wife needs to use a walker or wheelchair and also really enjoys plants. The staff person was helpful, the wheelchair was easy to use and maneuver and allowed all of us to see parts of the grounds.

This nature preserve and protected prairie meadow is a treasure in Linn County. There are beautiful walking trails through all kinds of terrain; wooded, river side and winding through the meadow. Birds and other wildlife are visible with quiet and patience. The changing seasons here are a delight to the senses. Take the time to enjoy the interactive nature center and event space where you will learn about native habitat, plant identification, and bird and animal characteristics. A very nice gift shop is at the center. Update: The beauty of a nature center and its trails are that it has changing vistas, ever blooming wildflowers, birds, and insects. My favorite season is August, when the many varied prairie meadow grasses are nodding in the wind. Dragonflies are abundant. Update: Once again, a visit to the Indian Creek nature center revives the spirit and calms the soul. The golden meadow of December is just as beautiful to me as the fresh green of spring.

I was excited to see that the old blue bridge was saved and made part of the walking trail! Inside the center was very cool, lots of interactive things and a cool birding room.

Nestled in the picturesque Czech Village of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library stands as a vibrant tribute to the rich heritage and experiences of Czech and Slovak immigrants. This cultural gem features engaging galleries that delve into their history, including a captivating permanent exhibition titled "Faces of Freedom: The Czech and Slovak Journey." This multimedia experience takes visitors through significant historical events such as the World Wars and life under Communist rule, ultimately highlighting their quest for freedom in America.
Very informative and knowledgable staff! Everyone was very welcoming and as we only had a short time to spend there they were able to give suggestions on what to see quickly. Quality exhibits and gift shop with great gift ideas. Worth the stop and perfect location to then walk around an explore more of the Czech Village.

Professionally curated collections including both historical and modern treasures. The museum highlights the Immigrant experience as well as the home country experience. People exploring their heritage will find an abundance of information on Czech and Slovak culture. The volunteers offer valuable insights and personal stories. The gift shop includes authentic pieces for purchase. Additionally, the library has limitless resources and helpful and knowledgeable staff.

The museum represents our history, which should resonate deeply with every Slovak and Czech. It reminds us where we came from, what kind of world we once lived in, and why we should value freedom and democracy. Powerful stories of our ancestors are told here.

Worth the stop. In this era when immigration is pivoting, I am so glad to drop in to this museum; and listen to the VOICES of FREEDOM. This exhibit helps me realize just how grateful I am for the freedom and privileges I have inherited. I live on the backs of those who came before me here in this land, and those who sacrificed for the preservation of our liberties and ideals. Beautifully and artfully done.

The museum also contains a store and library, which includes books and periodicals for research. The staff are very knowledgeable about this overlooked piece of American history. Highly recommended for history buffs.
Jerel J — Google review
As someone who enjoys visiting museums across the US that focus on the cultures and countries from which immigrants came to America, I can confidently say the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library in Cedar Rapids is an absolute gem. Impressive Scale and Infrastructure The size of this facility is truly astounding. This isn't just a small cultural center—it's a comprehensive 50,000 square-foot institution that rivals major museums in much larger cities. The infrastructure is remarkable. Outstanding Exhibits and Experiences The exhibits were superb throughout. Each display thoughtfully tells the story of Czech and Slovak immigration and culture, making it accessible whether you have personal connections to this heritage or are simply curious about American immigration history. A particular highlight was watching the clock tower's on-the-hour display of Czech workmanship—it's a rewarding experience that showcases the artistic traditions and craftsmanship that immigrants brought with them to America. A Source of Pride Having grown up in Northwest Iowa and spent time in Omaha, I've seen how immigrant communities maintain connections to their heritage. The Czechs, both those from the US and from the Czech Republic itself, must be incredibly proud of this museum. It's clear that significant care, resources, and love have gone into creating this institution. Bottom Line This is absolutely a must-visit destination in Iowa. Whether you're interested in immigration history, Czech and Slovak culture, or simply appreciate well-curated museums, the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library delivers an exceptional experience that honors both the immigrant journey and the rich cultural traditions that continue to enrich American communities today.

This is an entry fee well worth spent. You could literally spend two days in this place looking at the exhibits.

My husband and I stumbled in here, the displays were so informative and I love learning about another culture. We ended walking around for a couple of hours, the clothes and music were by far my favorite, the ship was also pretty cool. The gift shop seemed crazy high in prices but worth getting a couple of trinkets to commemorate your visit, the ladies working there were so nice!

Brucemore is a grand 19th-century mansion situated on a historic 26-acre estate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It serves as a tribute to the legacies of three prominent local families. Initially constructed in 1884 for Caroline and her children, it was renowned as 'the grandest house west of Chicago.' The mansion was designed in the Queen Anne style but underwent renovations by subsequent owners, George and Irene Douglas, who transformed it into a simpler Craftsman style.
Beautiful historic home tour. Ticket prices are very reasonable for such a lovely tour. We saw the Christmas display, but wish to return in summer to see the gardens. Staff was very kind and knowledgeable.

I enjoyed the tour and got impressed by the interior. You can learn about the history of the owners. There is a garden as well. There is also a souvenir shop.

A beautiful historic home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The house tour was informative, interesting, and even had a few twists! The grounds and gardens are beautiful and open to the public for a stroll, to walk the dog, or wander with children. It must necessarily be a wonderful and g.j gorgeous backdrop f ou r the many community arts events held there. I am looking forward to returning during the holiday season.
Lynn H — Google review
Only toured the grounds so can’t speak to the inside of the house. Grounds were beautiful to walk around, some paved paths, but otherwise you can just walk through the gardens and hilltop. Free to see the grounds so worth it for a quick stop. They could use some better signage for some of the buildings. Even if we had time to tour the house, didn’t even know where to get the tickets. One staff member we saw was less than helpful and couldn’t even direct us. Google maps may take you to the “exit” to get in, so look for the one small sign on 1st pointing to actual main entrance.
Elizabeth K — Google review
Very interesting and unique historic property. Only $5 to explore the mansion. The organ alone is worth the admission. The Grant Wood porch is a real gem for artistic types. I only wish the interpretive displays and brochures would explain more of how the families who lived here positively impacted the local community and how their philanthropy was significant to the city/region. Talking to the docents, there is a lot of additional information that could be shared. This additional information is what makes a historic property interesting. This alone dropped it one star. Otherwise, it would be five stars for me.

If you live in Iowa this is a must stop to learn about the families behind the biggest industries in Cedar Rapids. The home is filled with an amazing history and I truly enjoyed the tour.

Worth the price of admission. We had a great tour guide and it was just two of us . Tours are every hour. Gardens and property are nice to walk through as well. Very interesting history. Don't miss the basement

Discovered this establishment from a sign on the interstate. Stopped in for lunch. The establishment was very clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was great. We recommend stopping by when you are in the area. We will definitely return when we are in town.

Cedar Rapids — Valentine’s weekend, nice setting, good service, great presentation, tasty. Upscale restaurant, smaller setting(but have additional options for seating). I saw a couple tables that got sandwiches they looked great. It a nice option for date night

This was a great stop on a 1,000 mile road trip. Easy to get to off the interstate and only option we could find find that wasn’t either fast food or fried bar food, but with fresh, classic options. Clean, a bit upscale on atmosphere but we felt fine there being casually dressed. Service was great and food delicious! If we’re ever in the area again, we’ll be back!

Two of us had to send our fillet back we ordered medium rare and they were very well done. They did take care of it. The mashed potatoes were cold. Vegetables were good. The steak texture was off, even though it was done properly the second time. The desserts Were not what was expected. For the price, it definitely was not worth it.

Our server Kale was excellent. Very thorough and attentive. We each tried something different. I had the Cobb salad with Chicken. It had unique corn bread crouton, cranberries, diced sweet potatoes, yummy fresh crumbles bacon bits. The sweet potato were the only part of my meal I was not a fan of. We all tried the salmon Cajun soup. It was good the salmon melted in your mouth. The Class Act burger my son said was easily the best burger he has had. My son's girlfriend had the Iowa omelet and she said it was yummy. My husband had the corn beef hash he said it was a great from scratch hash.

Having a great restaurant at a hotel is such a luxury! We enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast - both were fabulous. The staff was professional and attentive! The manager even taught my son how to make a rose out of his napkin. :) Highly recommend.

I came in there this past Friday for lunch I got the beef prosciutto or whatever and that thing was nasty over salted in my opinion! Sweet potatoes doesn’t mix will with the skirt stake and slimy sauce they used. But I will say the chicken sandwich was juicy but way too small to be considered a full meal. The corn soup was underwhelming but the serve was really nice and did a great job serving me in a timely manner. I paid $36 as a single male. For me brining a family here and spending over $100 is just not worth it for lunch.

This restaurant is located in The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, and is a Culinary Arts Program. Elegant decor. Great service and food at a slightly higher price point than a chain, but the students are learning (and we get to eat the rewards of their education). The sticky pork belly was perfectly balanced between sweet, sour, and savory. The special of the day (ribeye) was perfectly cooked, the pork chop, duck, and steak fries were excellent. Will come back when back in town!

Black Sheep Social Club is a trendy restaurant and bar located in a converted warehouse, offering a unique take on New American cuisine and artisanal cocktails. The ambiance exudes coolness with its brick walls, mosaic-tiled floors, and industrial design. Some of the standout dishes include unconventional options like duck fat fries, PB &J pork belly, gnocchi bolognese, and smoked blueberry veggie burgers.
A good spot while in Cedar rapids for business. Nice location and nice setup. Has a brewery next to it Wait time is not too long. In summer they have a good seating outside. The bar area is vibrant and nice. Tried few appetizers popcorn shrimp, their famous fish style nuggets breaded with Quaker Oats and the crab dip. Would definitely other main course next time I’m in town.

Absolutely fantastic food and atmosphere. We showed up 15 minutes before the kitchen closed and the service was still fantastic! Simply couldn’t ask for better. A true must stop. The stout was great, what a find getting great food and local brew. We had the lasagna and pork chop. Recommend both.

My first time at Black Sheep, and I was impressed. Great place, so much history. Cool decor. Good variety in the menu. I chose the house salad, NY strip steak, and shared the s'more cheesecake for dessert. The server was very good. Never asked about refilling our beers. Food came out fast and everyone's dinner was great. I will definitely go there again! Oh, and I had the Witch Slap hazy IPA...Great choice!!
Eric E — Google review
My family was eager to visit the Black Sheep Social Club after hearing positive reviews about their culinary offerings. However, our experience did not meet our expectations. Comparing it to my previous experiences at comparable venues, I've had far better quality steaks at a lower price point. I ordered a $65 porterhouse steak, but unfortunately, it was served without the entire filet portion. If I had wanted just the strip cut, I would have opted for the NY Strip at a lower cost. This oversight regarding the cut of meat was disappointing. While the steak initially appeared appetizing, it revealed issues upon closer inspection. There were large portions of fat and gristle that detracted from the overall flavor, necessitating the use of the house steak sauce to enhance the taste. Given the price point, this outcome was quite disappointing. I hope that the establishment considers raising the quality of its offerings, as customers rightfully expect better experiences for their investment.

Roasted Brussel sprouts is an amazing appetizer! Great spicing and combination of flavors from bacon and raisins. New York strip was slightly tough so only reason I am rating the food a 4 and not a 5.

I brought my dad here for lunch because dinner is amazing, but today was beyond disappointing. The food is usually really good, but my dad said he will never come back and that it was the worst steak sandwich he’s ever had. The steak sandwich was basically on a hot dog bun, and my falafel burger was on a stale bun. The fries were delicious, but overall, this was a disappointing lunch experience. Before tip, the bill was almost $50 (1 alcoholic beverage on the bill), and that is sort of pricey for the low quality lunch we had. I was really hoping to wow my dad, but he wanted to leave within 10 minutes of receiving the food. The bartender was nice, but there was no conversation at all. The place was not busy, so a little bit of hospitality would have been nice. I’m not sure if the regular chef was off or what, so I’m leaving 3 stars since I know the food was good at some point. (I’ll remove this review if my bill is refunded. The food sucked today- it didn’t even look good but I did not take any photos.)

Our dinner on November 1, 2025 started off rocky, but it was quickly turned around with amazing service and care. This is a long post, but the recognition is well deserved! Myself and two others arrived about 6p.m. on 11/1. We were on our way to a performance at the Paramount Theater (one of our trio being a performer at said event). Approaching 7p.m. we still hadn't received our food. Jen, the bar manager, heard our concern and immediately stopped what she was doing to get our order secured. She was so attentive to our concerns and offered to comp our meal. The gentleman who had taken our order (whose name I didn't get) also came over, admitted the mistake, and apologized wholeheartedly. They could have easily swept the mistake under the rug, but they didn't. It was above and beyond what we expected and we were so appreciative of their quick action. The food arrived quickly and was DELICIOUS. We also made the show in time! After the show and the dinner crowds had dispersed, we went back to the restaurant and finished the night out at the bar with Jen and her bar staff. They probably didn't expect to see us again, but we couldn't simply brush off the amazing service from earlier. Drinks were in order and we didn't want to have those anywhere but Black Sheep. Jen, a huge thank you to you and your staff for being so caring, honest, and hardworking. You have a great team and we look forward to visiting from Chicago in the future! P.S. We were able to try new drink items for the season and they are exquisite ♡

Zeppelins is a popular restaurant located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, known for its modern grill and New American cuisine. The low-lit brick interior creates a lively and fun atmosphere, making it a great spot for a date night or meeting friends after work. The menu offers a variety of hearty dishes, including the famous Rubin sandwich and Zeppelin steak cooked to perfection. Customers also rave about the Parmesan fries and beet salad.
More upscale eating experience with a quality atmosphere. The burgers were great, salmon was moist and not fishy, parmesan and sweet potato fries were both double fried goodness, and the appetizers are very good.

Service was excellent. We were able to have a nice lunch meeting. Our waitress was so kind when we told her we wanted to chat a bit before we ordered. She kept our drinks full while we talked. Food came out quickly and she brought us our tab quickly upon request. I got the lettuce wraps and they were FANTASTIC!

This place is phenomenal!!! The food is out of this world, our waitress was amazing; she refilled all of our beverages as soon as they got low and checked up on as many times! The manager came and talked to us throughout our visit and made us feel at home! The mangers name is Dom and our waitress was Jenni!! Great great great restaurant! 10000/10, if you get the chance, make the trip to Zeppelins!!! On top of it all, the manger personally gave us a free skillet cookie on the house! What else could you ask for in a company!

The food and service at Zeppelins was excellent. We were seated right away on a Sunday at 5:30. I was happy to see a mocktail menu that was included in happy hour! We had the peachy Bellini and the cranberry splash. I especially like the cranberry splash. The cheese wontons came out quickly and I really liked the mustard sauce. We both ordered variations of the voodoo sandwich. I got the voodoo chicken sandwich and he got the voodoo burger. From the time we ordered to the time were served was faster than I had expected. The food was all excellent and our server was very friendly. I’m looking forward to coming back!

So much to eat, plus a huge salad. I ordered a cocktail, what.....got two for the price of one! This is crazy cool. Our server, Bailey, was absolutely the best!! Informative, suggestions made and lots of follow ups to make sure we we good. She is awesome and added to the experience. If you are at the hotels or nearby or off the freeway or driving through...you best stop here. But have a DD cause the drinks flow so easy!

I'm from out of town and got to enjoy a private event at the Quarter Barrel. The food was fabulous and the staff were really nice. I particularly enjoyed their pinball options and the chips and dip they served (the pizzas, salads, and other foods were also great)!

I called in an order for dinner on a Sunday evening around 4 pm. They told me about 30 minutes to be ready. I ordered the crab rangoonie pizza, garlic cheese sticks, and fried ravioli. I picked it up and brought it home, about 5 blocks. When I got home, all the food was pretty cool. The food was cool, not very hot, though not cold. I think the food was done way quicker than the 30 minutes. The place is very cool, with all kinds of retro games, pinball and the people are very nice and helpful. It's definitely a cool place to hang out. As far as the food I ordered, it was ok. All the things I ordered didn't have much flavor. The cheesy garlic sticks had barely any garlic flavor and the Parmesan cheese was of the bottled variety as it had clumps of it. On both the pizza and the sticks, the cheese didn't get all the way to edges. The ravioli was standard premade frozen appetizer. The pizza was ok, the most flavorful thing on it was the sweet chili drizzle and the fried wonton strips. Overall the food was ok, but a bit bland. The overall bill was $44.xx So I probably wouldn't order from here again unless I was there, drinking and it would probably only be appetizers. The ppl and atmosphere are excellent though.

my daughter and i love this place! recently, it was her 6th birthday and i had inquired about hosting her party there. i was thinking it would be a bank breaking experience but was willing to pay what i needed to because she loves her old school games and with family and friends traveling from all over iowa for the party, we really liked the idea of being able to have fun things for the kids and adults as well as some drinks. i was absolutely shocked to find out to reserve tables for a party we did not have to pay ANYTHING. as a single mother, i was so grateful that a place like this would be so affordable. we placed an order for 3 pizzas before hand and then the guests could open tabs and order anything else they wanted food wise. the service (as always) was lovely. the manager is so sweet and let us know if we ran over our time that it was not a big deal as it wasn’t too busy. our food came out promptly and again AS ALWAYS was delicious. we brought cake and presents for my daughter to open which worked out perfectly. i had so many guests reach out afterwards and complimented the venue choice and said it was so much fun. thank you for providing that experience to my family and friends. i love this place and will continue to refer people to this absolute gem of an establishment in the CR scene.

Impeccably clean, the bartender on shift was wonderfully attentive, and the pinball (for the machines I played) were responsive and a treat to play. Was very excited to see a baby pacman. The wild ale was delicious. Roomy dining area. Food was pretty good!!! Easy (cheap) hourly parking also.

We had a great time here this evening! We are currently road tripping from Ohio and were looking for something that would be fun for us and also our five year old. Our daughter absolutely loved the arcade games, of course, and we all loved the food. We got a Bowser pizza and it had the perfect amount of spice. We also got the Princess Peach dessert pizza, which was very tasty. Between my husband and I, we tried three different QB beers and enjoyed all of them. Service was great! It wasn’t too crazy when we got there around 5, but was packed when we left. Our daughter asked if we could “plllllleeeeease” come back — and we certainly will if we are ever in Cedar Rapids again!

BARI ITALIAN is a hidden gem for Italian cuisine, particularly known for its in-house made fresh pasta. The restaurant offers a perfect pairing of Italian food and wine, making it a great spot to expand your palate whether you're new to wine or an experienced enthusiast.
Went here for a celebration dinner. The seating by the windows was lovely. The server was very helpful answering questions and didn’t rush us. All the appetizers, meat/fish entree’s, and desserts we tried tasted delicious. A bit pricey, but we knew this from looking at their menu online beforehand. Dishes we tried: calamari, caprese bruschetta, focaccia, seafood bake, salmon, and the surf and turf. The appetizers were all tasty and good to share between 4 people. Really loved the crispness of the calamari with the dipping sauce, the caprese bruschetta was my favorite and a plus for it being vegetarian. I liked the spread that came with the focaccia, but the bread itself was a bit bland for me. The seafood bake was light and creamy and served hot out the oven with the right amount of seafood-pasta mix for me. Tasted even better with added parmesan. The pilaf and veggies complemented the salmon well. The desserts we tried were all a decent size for sharing and they all tasted delightful. The salted caramel crème brûlée was so light and creamy, and had enough sweetness with a touch of salt to my liking. Both the blueberry NY style cheesecake and the lemon-raspberry NY style cheesecake tasted so good, not super sweet and the cheese part was just right. I personally preferred the lemon-raspberry topping over the blueberry because of the tangier taste, but they both were great choices. I would recommend adding the dessert menu online for people to see the different options ahead of time. Overall, a great dining experience that I would recommend.

This is a very nice place to take a date and try a new luxury dish. It's a little expensive and it took a super long time to recieve our food. The food portions arnt super clear when ordering. Parking is street parking only. So to have to walk and wait forever to eat, there are just better options for my time and money.

Great restaurant. It's nice to have such a quality restaurant in our area. The pasta was so good, made fresh in the restaurant. Love the atmosphere and the background music. What could have been better? We could have been seated in the dining area with the nicer table locations instead of a part booth part table in the bar area. The restaurant had only a couple of other customers at the time, so there were plenty of tables available, as we were there for dinner. Street parking seemed to be the only option. Based on the owners' reply, I guess my observations and concerns are all my fault since I didn't tell the server to sit us somewhere else. Probably won't return now.

We have been wanting to try BARI for quite some time. We wanted to eat local today and use our BARI gift card we had been hoarding, so my husband called and made a reservation right after work for 8:15pm. We made it right on time, and we were seated right away. The atmosphere was very relaxing and more upscale, but we didn't feel out of place wearing jeans and a t-shirt. The menu was smaller than we had anticipated, but the variety was epic. We had the grilled sourdough with whipped ricotta for an appetizer (I could have just ate a whole plate of this for dinner), my husband had the lasagna (he rated it right up there with his all-time favorite lasagna recipe that his mom makes lol), and I had the alfredo with added chicken. I had originally wanted to try the housemade egg noodle dish, but they were sold out for the evening. Our meals did not disappoint! The flavors were incredible. Tony was very prompt and communicative during our meal as our server. He served us a delicious tiramisu to share for dessert. We are so happy we FINALLY went! We will definitely be back sooner vs. later.

Came for an anniversary dinner and everything was perfect and utterly delicious. Food was amazing and our server was very knowledgeable and even gave us a wine pairing recommendation for dinner that was perfect. For appetizers we got the mushroom Gouda arancini and grilled local crumb sourdough, the arancini was definitely the star of that course but both were delicious. We also got both a pomegranate French 75 and an espresso martini which were both expertly made. For an entree, I gotta the short rib ravioli which was perfection, the sauce was rich and delicious and the short ribs were fall apart tender inside the ravioli. My partner got the chicken Marsala which was also utterly decadent and tasty. If you’re looking for a fine dining pasta experience in Cedar Rapids, this is the place to go! The atmosphere is also spot on.

All around high quality. They call it the cleanest trampoline park in Iowa and it seems true. It's very clean and doesn't stink like some jump parks. The staff are really nice and helpful. There's a lot to do with the basic entry jump pass. We haven't tried the climbing zone or mini golf but they look fun. The cafe is clean and fast and it's a lifesaver if the kids get hungry while jumping and you need a quick bite.

This trampoline park is super clean, well maintained and plenty of staff. We came in a rainy day and expected a larger crowd. TIP: What you need to know is how they charge. You must arrive at the top of bottom of the hour AND get through the line quickly for optimal time. We arrived at 1:30 but by time we did waivers, waited to pay, used the bathroom and started to jump it was nearly 1:50 and our 1-hour wristband ($81 for admission and socks for 4 kids) meant our time was up at 2:30. I also thought I had purchased the top package to do everything in that hour, climbing was not included and is an up charge.

Excellent beer and staff! Bartenders Erin and Brandon treated us very well.

Super cool local brewery and attached restaurant. Can’t go wrong with a place named Black Sheep Social Club. Clock House Tap Room is attached and is a great spot to wait for your table or to enjoy some craft brews and delicious food. Definitely a few steps up from your typical pub fare. All the staff was super friendly and you could tell they aren’t lacking their regulars. Atmosphere was great. Update: Returned 4 years later because we enjoyed this place the first time we were in town. Pretty much same thoughts, nice atmosphere, super friendly staff, but the food quality has definitely gone down. Pub burger was super salty and tasted exactly like a cook from frozen burger you would get at Costco. Couldn’t even eat half of it. Still check them out, but avoid the burger, not worth it for sure.

Always a great time and great beers! Anniversary stout was excellent!

We tried all 12 beers on tap, all of them were EXCELLENT! The only one my husband nor myself cared for were the classified beers but that's just personal preferences. I am usually not a fan of sours but oh my gosh the sour was so good! And the Southern Bound was just incredible! The waiter was also very nice and kept us in beer which is really all you can ask for.

We love coming to Clock House when we make it back to Iowa! The beers are always amazing, the food is great, and the location is fun. The staff is always friendly and service is great. Wish we we lived closer so we could be regulars!

Spare Time in Cedar Rapids is one of the four bowling lanes in the area, offering specials like laser bowling and quarter draws. The entertainment center also features a Luigi's Mansion game that provides a fun experience, although it can be quite addictive. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as laser tag and arcade games. The venue is suitable for hosting events like birthday parties, with attentive party hosts who ensure that both kids and parents have a great time.
Terrific experience! We hosted our family at SpareTime for a fun post-Christmas gathering. Destiny and the team did a terrific job of helping us plan the details in advance and making our experience a memorable one! From bowling, video games, laser tag, and more - the kids aged 4 - 19 had a terrific time! (as did the aunts, uncles, and grandparents!) The food was great and service outstanding. We'll definitely be back!

$1.50 a game for the arcade and a bunch aren’t working Took pics to show how rigged the place is. This game is literally impossible to win because they actually removed one of the pieces so you can never complete it. It’s very disappointing to pay $1.50 per game (lowest priced games) all the way up to $4 a game and not even have a fair chance. Staff were there but not very helpful. After over $100 spent we wound up with 30 jolly ranchers as a prize 😒 Wouldn’t recommend
Sully — Google review
We had a small group of kids just playing arcade games and having a couple appetizers and drinks and we were shocked at how fast the money went on the games and how much the prizes cost. The food was reasonable and adequate, sodas were sodas, but spending a much as we did in the arcade alone was ridiculous. The prices on bowling, etc, were quite high as well. Cool looking place, doubt we will retirn

The plethora of lanes made it easy to get a spot right away without a reservation. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. The staff were friendly and helpful. A great place for kids and parents alike, complete with arcade, food, and a full bar! Definitely will come here again when I'm in town.

Honestly it was fun and all together a good time. Unfortunately this is the second time ive been here and the second time the bar tender was absolutely terrible to us. We were waiting in line for 10 minutes for him to help other people before even acknowledging we were there and to top it all off he told us we had to get in line to get a simple glass of pop. Some Bald guy, he said you can either wait in line or find someone with a black shirt on to help us. Other then his unprofessional attitude I had a experience

We had my daughter’s eleventh birthday party here this year and it was a great success! We purchased the gamer package which included an hour of unlimited games, pizza, drinks, and several reserved tables. We also purchased laser tag which was an additional fee. There a good mix of games in the arcade - both old school as well as newer VR. The kids had a blast, and as a parent I appreciated how thoughtful and organized the staff were.

So they asked me to give them a review.... here it for somebody to set up a party and not get offer the elite room or even know about the elite room for birthday party which was never mention horrible. For them to ask me for a review and say somebody would reach out after a week no call first was force to pay for 10 people when I'm thinking only 5 or 6 people show up which I knew already. Food arrive to us cold. We had a new staff work and was still over charge and even the kids wasn't happy about our experience it felt like we was out place amd the just gave us anything to try to make us happy which is bad customers services and ypu can't used cash everything has be a card which is why I won't go again why should I trust you with my credit card information when you couldn't even do enough to make sure the birthday party was enjoyable only reason they haven't called because they know I want a full refund and feel like they should pay me for the experience I had

Super fun place. Went here for a work holiday party and have been back several times because it is so fun! Video games, laser tag and bowling too. Fun kid type games that dispense tickets for prizes. Was skeptical about the food but it was great. Had wings and sandwiches. Food came out fast and hot and it was surprisingly good. Server was fun and attentive. Nice selection of beers and spirits. For sure will be back

Nestled in the charming Uptown District of Marion, Goldfinch Tap + Eatery is a delightful spot that caters to families and food lovers alike. This kid-friendly eatery serves up a menu brimming with Iowa and Midwest classics, all crafted from scratch in their kitchen. The 'For the Kiddos' section features beloved favorites like cheeseburgers and chicken fingers, ensuring even the youngest diners are satisfied.
We had our rehearsal dinner at Goldfinch, and it was absolutely perfect. The team, especially Ashley and Taylor, were so flexible and easy to communicate with. They made planning simple and stress-free. They were super fun the day of too! The food was fantastic, and our guests couldn’t stop talking about how much they enjoyed everything. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and it was the perfect start to our wedding weekend. Highly recommend!
Ashley M — Google review
First time trying this place and was disappointed. Iowa is known for their pork tenderloins and if one is going to be on the menu I expect it to be bigger and more flavorful than what this place offered. Besides lacking any perceptible flavor, all I could taste was my burnt bun. I'm not talking about a toasted bun, but a burnt bun. The tenderloin was thin and not very big. The coleslaw was soupy and the entire place was decorated like a little girl's birthday party with cardboard cutouts of Disney princesses. While the wait staff was friendly, it was terribly slow.

Loved this spot Downtown Marion! Tons of character, and very nice outside patio area. I ordered the salmon teriyaki bowl, and was some of the best salmon I’ve had! We’ll be back!
Melissa Y — Google review
The wait was a little slow despite it being at less than half the restaurant capacity. I ordered the august burger special which included a generous patty, gooey cheese, lettuce, onion, hot honey, and fried ranch. Yes, you read that correctly. Fried ranch. Yum. My kid had a cheesy macaroni plate with giant spiral noodles and his dad had one of their delicious Benny plates. Would visit again just wish the service was a little more prompt.

Absolutely incredible experience with Goldfinch Tap + Eatery Catering services! Goldfinch Tap + Eatery catered our recent wedding of about 200 guests, and we could not be more impressed. From start to finish, Taylor, Chef John, and their amazing team went above and beyond to make our day unforgettable. We’ve always been big fans of the restaurant, but this was our first time working with them as caterers, and wow, did they deliver! They were collaborative, flexible, and so much fun to work with. We weren’t limited to their standard catering offerings, which was awesome. They worked closely with us to bring our ideas to life and helped design a menu that truly reflected us as a couple. Every dish was executed perfectly, and our guests are still raving about the food. We had countless people tell us it was the best meal they’ve ever had at a wedding! Chef John even brought a carving station for the tri-tip, which was a total showstopper and a huge hit with everyone. The entire Goldfinch team worked together seamlessly and took such good care of us throughout the night. Their professionalism, organization, artistry, and genuine warmth made the whole experience stress-free and so enjoyable. We truly can’t thank them enough for making our wedding meal as memorable as the day itself. If you’re considering Goldfinch Tap + Eatery for catering, don’t hesitate. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Certainly not the best beer by craft beer standards, but they do have a number of decent brews across multiple styles that are respectable enough. The space is cool, and the workers are friendly and very helpful. Would definitely recommend stopping by.

The best beer in Cedar Rapids. This is only a taproom, so you can bring in or order outside food. Happy hour is incredibly cheap and they also offer crowlers and growlers to go. They usually have 20 beers on tap, have some great staples and rotating brews. The Red Thing is my personal favorite. Also has an outside patio and attracts a lot of cyclists. This is a must visit for fans of craft beer.
Adam N — Google review
If you're looking for high quality beer in a pure beer environment while in Eastern Iowa, this is the place to be. No food served but you can bring your own if you'd like; on occasion food trucks rather vendors show up. No less than 15 house-brewed beers, ciders, and hard seltzer variants on tap, plus a few guest handles. Wide range of styles and alcohol levels to please every pallet. I highly recommend the Oja Baltic Porter and the OreOja (chocolate sandwich cookie notes, but not overpowering). It's named in honor of my late brother but even without that family tie, it is uniquely delicious. You might think I'm being a bit partial but they have grown this business from a few dozen barrels to a full production brewery covering all of Iowa and now parts of Wisconsin.

Civil Axe Throwing in Cedar Rapids offers a unique experience for both beginners and experienced axe throwers. The venue provides dedicated lanes and coaches to guide you through the art of axe throwing. In addition to axes, they offer other items like throwing stars and mini axes for added fun. Some lanes even feature black light/glowy effects, creating an exciting atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy beverages from the small fridge while engaging in friendly competitions using the provided dry erase boards.
Went on a 1st date here last Sunday. Neither of us have thrown axes before and it was a great experience. We both had fun and made for a great time. The guy running the place was very friendly. They have plenty of lanes and plenty of different items to throw at the target. They also sell alcohol! We talked to the guy for a while and they also have other things to do there on certain nights like Disc Golf putting . I would highly recommend coming here. It's a fun time.

We went kind of early on a Thursday evening and basically had the place to ourselves. What I enjoyed about this spot over others, is they have a few fun toys like throwing stars and mini axes to have fun with. There were also dry erase boards if you want to have some competitions. They do have a small beverage fridge that has a few types of beer and pop. The throwing bays were well maintained with large tables at the back. The staff was very friendly.

Nice, simple and clean place. We were greeted at the door and were very soon after walked through some basics of axe throwing and right on into games and scoring in our group. It was on a quiet business day, but the place was very spacious and would have been plenty of room for much more of a crowd. Nice place for a first timer like we were. Had a great time and definitely planning to go back.

Fantastic environment!! We loved that not only did they have a lot of places to throw, but 4 of their lanes are black light/glowy, and it just gives it a new experience, plus they let us use their throwing stars also!! Another new element to add, love this place, will be coming back for sure!
Austin D — Google review
This axe throwing place is awesome! We were in the only ones in there. We were able to throw axes, throwing stars and throwing hatchets. The environment was really laid back with music playing. It was a great date for myself and the hubby with many laughs and competitiveness.

My family had an amazing time! They let us stay until we were all able to hit the board. Definitely a lot harder than it looks but so much fun! They have a very nice and helpful staff and we will definitely be coming back.
Lauren E — Google review
I reserved two lanes for my hubby’s birthday party and all of us had a blast! I didn’t realize beforehand that Civil Axe also had knives and throwing stars to use, and it was a fun surprise. I was, however, a little disappointed in the reservation process. I paid for an hour on two lanes to accommodate our party, but another party moved into one of our lanes during the last 15 minutes. Doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, but considering I spent over $400 on the reservation, that 15 minutes was more than $50 of time that we didn’t get to use. When the staff was notified, they did not ask the other party to wait and instead told us to speak to the other party and ask them to move out of our lane. (Which we didn’t, because who does that.) I expected the staff to be more accommodating and take our agreement seriously, but they unfortunately did not. I think they could benefit from providing better signage for reserved lanes that indicate when they will become open for others. Overall it was a great experience and we will likely return, but I wish the staff would have been more assertive on our behalf.

1st time in this place and I loved the jumbo scoreboard above the lanes. I'm a Cedar Rapids native but didn't pickup bowling until I moved away from Cedar Rapids. The state tournament was a blast. This bowling center was great.

Okay experience at this ally. Great company, so location was less important. Though, based on all ally reviews this one seemed to have the best chance at a boring environment for a decent price. The first game bowling was quiet. Perfect. Then, rhetorical Kennedy HS team crowded every ally next to ours. Second game was disrupted often by students. By our third game the teams seemed more focused and less disruptive. Not all staff are the same. One was crass. Other’s personable. Reviews helped warn me to be aware. Balls are fairly gouged and heavily used to pick from. Not a team bowler, so need to use what’s provided. We had no issue with keeping score. Though, wonder how other groups had better screen views on the television viewer than ours in tracking the score. As we prefer seeing all ten frames rather than only five. Other bowlers had a different screen. No biggy. Overall nice ally. Good pricing. Okay atmosphere. Would bowl here again

Used to be a decent league house, lazy staff, and bad management have ruined this place. It's no more than an overpriced entertainment center these days with bad service and worse food. Might as well go to Spare Time for the same price and a better experience.

Penguins Comedy Club is a fantastic venue for an evening of amusement. The establishment operates from Wednesday to Saturday, offering fresh performances each week. If you're interested in attempting stand-up comedy, why not participate in the open mic night on Wednesdays? Despite initially having modest expectations, attendees are pleasantly surprised by the talented local comedians. Open mic nights foster a supportive atmosphere where individuals with positive attitudes can experiment with new material.
We went for the open mic on Wednesdays. We had low expectations but were pleasantly surprised with the local comics. Given that the atmosphere on open mic nights is for people with good attitudes supporting locals trying out new stuff it was decent. Would definitely go back. The weekend shows booked on the website have some guys I really like.

Open mic Wednesday was a great time - and it was free! Arrangement of comics with 5 minutes for their skit each. It felt like an episode of Marvelous Mrs Maisel at the gaslight - Iowa style. Interesting array of characters and funny topics discussed. I already know I'll be back and recommend dropping in!

The comedy act was great! Jeff Dye! Probably not going back again, un fortunately! One of our group made a couple comments to Jeff, which actually gave him some more material to work with, but we were told that we couldn't do that because people came to hear the comedy , not us! On 3 different occasions, we were told to be quiet. We had met Jeff prior to the show and had drinks with him. Others had made comments during the first two comedians and that seemed ok. We were closer to the back where the Gestapo was and some customers who go to Iowa games and sit on their hands. Guess we watch on TV from now on!

Was fun but didn't like sitting at a table with people we didn't know. The gentleman complained about people next to us. We didn't mind the people next to us as much as much as having to listen to this gentleman's complaining the whole time. Love Penguins and absolutely recommend to others

Not a very "pretty" place but this was more than made up for by the fact that the staff was super friendly & the service was good. The drinks were good and the prices were cheap. They don't serve food which was a minor disappointment. All in all, we had a great time.

Was thinking of going, but couldn't find anywhere in your website if it was handicapped accessible. I called and left a message and no one ever responded. I only found out the club was in a basement after reading a review. I use a prostetic leg and a lot of stairs are difficult for me. Just my two cents. Glad I didn't waste my time getting to the club to find out it was in a basement. If you have access you should let it be known.

The Dinner Detective Murder Mystery Show in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is an interactive dinner theater experience that combines comedy and intrigue. Guests can enjoy a delicious meal while trying to solve a crime, all while being entertained by talented performers who involve the audience in the show. The event offers great food and drinks, along with top-notch entertainment that keeps guests engaged throughout the evening.
My husband and I went to the show in February 2024 and again last night in May 2024 with our family (7 people). We enjoyed the bar, the service and the food. Everything was delicious! The actors were amazing, they did such a fantastic job at both shows and we were all very impressed by the whole event. We will definitely be going back. If you’re looking for good food, good drinks and great interactive entertainment, this is where you go. Highly recommend!

This was our second time at one of these Dinners with The Dinner Detective! I did recognize some of the actors/actress' but it did not give anything away or ruin the experience. The food is pretty good (Not spectacular), having the bar in the room is nice but I prefer going to the bar in the lobby. It is so fun and interactive. I love that they get the audience involved and they interact with everyone (more with the individuals who pay more to be a suspect). However they do talk with many other individuals as well! Everyone involved is amazing and I have never have a bad experience. It is fun to meet new people and get to know the people at your table and around the room! I will continue doing them! I assume the two individuals who play the detectives are the same every time which is not a bad thing! They tend to have the same demeanor about them no matter the show. They are very funny and adaptable. If you're wanting a light and fun night out with some friends, family, or your significant other then this would be a great choice!
Brittnee D — Google review
The actors are funny, the food is good, remember to bring cash for drinks at the cash bar, cash bar prices similar to hotel cost so higher than just a bar or restaurant. Be ready to have them rush you to decide who did it after you get the last clue. I thought I had 10 to 15 minutes left, but honestly even more, nope, they rush you a ton. I also needed more paper to analyze my notes....if you came to actually solve for the challenge, it turned into a disappointment.

This was our first time doing Dinner Detective Show. It was highly interactive. Watch the clue video ahead of time. Would say there was around 50 people in the Cedar Rapids show. It was perfect for singles, couples, or groups. Food was good, not much to the meal. Would recommend and definitely plan to go again.

My family went to this last night. The food was cold and the people who put it on gave bad information on the set up. We were told online you check in at 530 but it was 6 pm. Caused alot of people to stand waiting for the show/dinner to start. Our group had elderly people and they were made to stand around waiting. Then the actors were impossible to hear. This needs a PA system for those not fully hard of hearing. For something that is supposed to be a nice night out it was frustrating and less fun then expected. Add on top of it the food was served cold.

Had my bachelorette party at one of the shows, it was a blast! The actors were great and hilarious. The food was amazing!! Went to do some family hiking on a somewhat dreary day in March. It seemed somewhat limited in topography, but for our area, that's not shocking. I would like to go back when things are actually starting to turn green as I think it would likely be much prettier. There were quite a few people out enjoying the day. Not as interesting as the Palisades, but worth an exploration!

I love to drive thru with my dog after the dog.park and walk around after he has had time to get more energy out in the park, but they closed off the wooded area =( I do t get that there was no snow on the ground .

The stream formerly know as squaw creek, in Linn co, IA, has been renamed Wanatee Creek. It passes through a Linn Co park formerly named Squaw creek park, now known as Wanatee Park. Reviews here seem to be referencing the park, though this entry is for the previous name for the stream.

Great park on the edge of Marion. Check out the mountain bike trails? Now called Wanatee.

There are two great lodges here and a few great geocaches too. The dog park areas are wonderful.

It's a good park, but it used to be swamp land. That means mud and, in warm weather, lots of bugs.

It's a popular spot for families and friends to enjoy sumptuous dishes like burgers, meatloaf, and pizza. The bar area features TVs for sports enthusiasts while serving an array of draft beers.
The food here was fantastic!!! I had an amazing asian-inspired chicken sandwich with broccoli. We also got the redneck nachos and I have to highly recommend those as well- the pulled pork was out of this world. The burger was phenomenal too. Eclectic and fun menu, but I have no doubt that everything is great.

I went here on a Thursday there was live music outside. The food was great and the service was okay. The menu prices were reasonable and portions were good in size.

This is out of the way of main stream traffic. Definitely need to know it is back where it is. Sure was worth giving them a try. We had big lunches so we just split an appetizer. Was so good, spicy chicken rangoons. We ordered another appetizer, Korean pork belly Burnt ends. So chewwy and buttery at the same time. Fantastic! Then we got a dessert to go for later, Monkey bread, stellar and made to order. Takes a little bit for this but very worth it. The smokey ranch was something new and pretty good as well. The only tiny thing was the maple bacon old fashioned. Neat concept, but serve them wiith king cubes, not rock ice. Can't wait to go back. Our server Adrianne was the best!!! Very informative and helpful, just the best.

I went here on a Friday evening with a friend. This place was highly recommended by a co-worker. I started with the dynamite shrimp and a cocktail. I ordered a half taco salad and my friend ordered a half Asian salad. The dynamite shrimp was breaded and fried and then tossed in a yum yum style sauce. They were very good. The taco salad was a bit small but ok paired with the shrimp. It had greens in the bottom with beans, meat, chips and a few other things. It came with a side of salsa and sour cream. It cost around $30 for my food and cocktail. The hostess was young and kind of inattentive as I had to repeat myself a few times about my table preference. Our waitress was nice and had good service from her. The food came reasonably fast and seemed fresh. Overall a good experience and will be going back to try other things from there.

This place is truly hidden away from the road right next to it, or at least a little difficult to see unless you’re trying to find it. In any case, I stopped by to try their crab rangoons and chicken crab rangoon sandwich. It did not disappoint! Super friendly staff and very little wait time for my order. I was in and out quickly. All in all, it’s a really lowkey, quiet sports bar. I’d recommend it! Only thing I’d keep in mind is, at least for the crab rangoon sandwich, it’s super messy so I’d definitely be sure to ask for extra napkins.
Minespidur — Google review
Emil’s is so unassuming, but don’t let that fool you about the quality of the food! This place never misses. Their wings are a must try, they have excellent burgers, and killer salads! I’ve never had a bad meal at Emil’s.

The burgers were juicy and stacked with flavor, especially the mushroom Swiss, and the fries came out crisp and hot. Service was friendly without rushing, and the low-key, tucked-away vibe made the spot feel like a real local gem.

Probably the best pizza place in Cedar Rapids top notch! The pizza was fresh, flavorful, and a pleasing texture of crispy crust! The staff were so polite & the pizza wasn’t too expensive, a large which is HUGE was $18. And the atmosphere where do I start? They had TVs to see your favorite sport, had beautiful paintings and had an Aquarium! I recommend this place if you are finding good pizzerias in Cedar Rapids

In my books it's a top 3 pizza place for me anywhere in America! The crust is spot on! Thin, crisp and tasty. The sauce is a perfect freshness and natural flavor. I really don't want the to but this pizza is wort twice what they charge.

I did carryout. It does look like a cool atmosphere inside with a nice selection of beer; Staff were really cool. I ordered a small pepperoni pizza which was average to below average and comparable to something you get in a package at a kid birthday party venue or ballpark.

Went with friends on a Friday afternoon. The place is clean, the staff very friendly. The pizza we had was large, red with Canadian bacon, Italian sausage and green peppers. Service was quick, drinks and the food. Great place to hang out and chill. Also notice they have a walk up window to get a slice later at night if you're out cruising the boulevard. Prices were surprisingly good.

Great waitress & service, but very disappointing visit won’t go back. Have had better, but last 3 visits have been increasingly disappointing. Food was very greasy (4 napkins for 1 chicken tender greasy.) Food was slightly burnt, oil needed to be changed. Took 39 minutes for a burger & sampler. Fried pickles were so greasy we could not eat them. Burger had no seasoning it tasted like a frozen patty tossed on the grill. Burger was served with fries. Asked for extra crispy fries, came out not cooked all the way. Was very loud. Waitress was very attentive & kind. On my other recent visit with a group, we reserved the back room. We were told we were bumped into the middle room where we became the walkway for the large party in the back. The doors didn’t stay closed to the back room so no one could hear each other and every 3 minutes someone had to get up and close the door. Food was very disappointing this visit too.

Michelle was fantastic. Great service. Was concerned the fish came as nuggets but cooked perfect, moist. Cheese steak was good, well flavored. Will be back. Onion rings are like the onion straws sold at all the fairs, very good.
Mark J — Google review
Disappointing food quality. Had some takeout. The cheese wontons wasn't good at all. They felt like fried leather and tasted very plain. I wonder if they were freshly made... Then the salmon with whipped potatoes and grilled asparagus. The salmon was cold and over cooked as if it was reheated in a microwave. The asparagus... judge the picture. They looked and tasted gross as if they had been cooked multiples times. Harsh... I never had asparagus this poor! Whipped potatoes were plain. A poor experience. Since I only picked up, I can only say that the place looked like an ordinary bar/eating place. Nothing exciting. I don't mean to be mean or rude, but the food was bad. I'm making myself a sandwich now...

Recently ate lunch at Irish democrat with a group of six friends all of us well over 60. Service was exceptional. Lunch was a perfect time for us to gather, And the food was outstanding. Every one of us was very happy. The onion rings were amazing and thin and crispy- perfection. The fish in the fish and chips was not greasy, but perfect and flaky others raved about the sweet potato fries and the chicken strips. All in all this group’s monthly meal gathering could not have been more perfect.
Christy W — Google review
We’ve been here before and had better food. This time they fell a bit short. Our server was as attentive as she could be while working so hard. Potato skins - tasty overall, although the chicken pieces on their own tasted… odd. Cheese wontons- previously amazing, came out with the centers cold this time and we needed to send them back. Fries - unseasoned and soggy. Burger- tasted good, but so tiny compared to the bun. Upgraded to Garlic mashed with the cheesesteak. They just tasted like mashed potatoes, no garlic. The dirty martini and mules were delicious.
Tammy B — Google review
It was a great place. My ribs were falling off the bone. The coleslaw was perfect for easing the richness of the barbeque. There was one problem with our party of 10. Food was inconsistent even though I loved mine, and I had to hunt down the waitress once. I would definitely come back to this restaurant. There are so many elements that are amazing, and some of the dishes were out of this world.

Bang bang wings - ranch to dip Hope Burger D with fries Corn elote Chocolate cake slice The wings could have been more crispy by over all I would put them at a solid 8/10 The corn elote was absolutely terrible, corn tasted undercooked and they didn’t dress it, they gave me the stuff in the side and it wasn’t nearly enough. - 2/10 Burger was for my wife, she said it was good, liked the bacon relish with the caramelized onion. The fries which i did try were PHENOMENAL, one of the best I’ve had yet. 8/10 Chocolate cake slice - it was so decadent that the plastic fork couldn’t get through it without wanting to bend and break. It was VERY good. 8.5/10

Unexpected roof top bar in this hotel. I came in for dinner after my flight and was able to find a nice spot of my choosing by the window for the views. Picked out this pork belly dish just as a little snack before bed. It was pretty decent bar food, flavorful, albeit a little on the salty end. It might’ve been better had I ordered something else to pair it with. Staff were friendly and it was an easy quick meal. I saw there were quite a few groups of business folks up here late at night talking shop as well. Seemed like a good spot to knock a few back.

A small locally owned sushi restaurant filled with many menu options including sushi, Chinese and Japanese entrees. My family used to bring me here when I was younger and now I bring mine in. Sushi is decent, taking into consideration how fresh you can get in Cedar Rapids, IA. Our family favorite entree would have to be the crispy ginger beef - delicious!

I went in but I didn't stay because there was a really long line of people waiting to be sat down.... and I got a chance to peak on the menu I honesty didnt like what I saw mainly because I'm not a seafood eater and I didn't think I would like it. Also I have a 12month+ old and hasn't been exposed to seafood yet. However, I am sure its a great place considering the fact it was full of customer that's why I rated a 5star.

We came to Brewhemia for a late breakfast and this place is clearly beloved in this area! It was incredibly busy, and despite this, we had excellent service and delicious food. The Southwestern Egg Sandwich and the Huevos Avocado Biscuit were made perfectly. My chai latte was just what I had hoped for -- spicy, sweet, and creamy. The decor includes giant historic world maps that add to the charm.

I can’t believe someone would give less than 5 stars for this cute full service coffee shop. To start, the outside has such a cool vibe and is in a great location. They have a few outdoor tables for outdoor seating which is great for bringing your dog. Their quiche menu is solid and food is really good for a coffee shop. The inside is cute and welcoming and the staff was all very nice!!! We got an iced white mocha and bohemian and they were perfect.

This is easily the best coffee/cafe here in Iowa. The food is always fresh and amazing. The lattes are consistently great. No burned shots. They make their vanilla and caramel for the lattes IN HOUSE. Don't pass up the vanilla latte! It's run by the sweetest family who are always positive as are their baristas. I stopped here on a Thursday afternoon around 12 30. I sat at the bar. The place was busy but not overly crowded. I ordered a corona premier and Philly cheese steak sandwich with cottage cheese. The bartender was nice and she easily recommended a few things when asked. I decided to go with the Philly. The beer was fine and the line was large and juicy, not dried out and old like what I have been getting a lot of lately. The cottage cheese was standard cottage cheese. It was good, not clotted or dried out. The Philly was very good with tons of flavor and juicy. When it came, it didn't look like it had much meat on it but had a goodly amount, though it would have been nice with a bit more as I did have a couple of bites with very little meat. However very yummy and the peppers and onions were sauted nicely. The only thing I wish is that they had toasted the bun, little butter and in the fridge for a couple of minutes would have elevated this sandwich to the best level. I would still order it, just make sure I would to ask for toasted bun. The cost was very good for the food and drink, being right around $15 before taxes and fees. I would definitely recommend going here for food as very good with very reasonable prices and very nice people.

I loved the outdoor seating, the view was DQ and a parking:(...). But with my life being work and the hotel I was still so happy to be outside. I ordered cod, chili, fries and a drink. My roommate ordered one burger. It came to about $35... $50 w/tip. The chilli was decent and the drink was strong. The cod pieces or nuggets as they called them where pretty gross and the fries tasted like and had the texture of restaurant fries you take home on left over and reheat. The staff was welcoming and friendly, I gave them a $15 tip. Our food was delivered promptly. Overall it wasn't too bad but the food was not worth any money. Wished I had just sucked it up and waited in line at DQ.... A little while later... I just got done reading through some of the reviews. I travel for work and was looking for a local bar with good food and the reviews were mostly 4 and 5 stars. I am confused. The staff was great. Loved the outside seating but the quality of the food was bad. It sucks to drop $50 and get fried that tasted like day olds and the fish was like Sysco frozen foods.

This is one of those places you go when you want some good food. It's nothing fancy so don't expect that sort of ambiance. But it's like a local hidden gem the locals know about and might share with you if you are lucky. You walk in and someone says welcome and tells you to seat yourself where ever a table is open. Don't miss the opportunity of Zoltar to give you your fortune!! The servers are quick and will bring you a bowl of free popcorn and take your drink order. We started with one of our favorites, the broccoli cheddar bites. Honestly any of the appetizers are amazing. Is it fried food, yes, but this place does it well!! I ordered a 1/4 cheeseburger, you choose your toppings and they make to order. The flavor was so amazing, like when you crave a burger, this will certainly hit the spot! Hubby ordered the Philly cheesesteak and said it was very flavorful, just as he remembered. Again, this is nothing fancy, but it's great bar type food with great flavor and it's always consistent! Menu has a wide variety of items. The Tenderloin Sandwich is also top notch!! It's a hidden gem! Make it a must when in town!

I called and asked about it, preparing to go pick up his food, when the manager hopped on and not only said he would make my son’s order, but that he would also deliver it himself. He was so kind! And when he got here, he gave us coupons to go the extra mile. Amazing customer service and as always, amazing food!

Okay, don't pass on this place just because of the way the outside looks. It is an older place and shows it's age. You need to be hungry if you're going here. Really good sized portions and the staff are attentive. We ordered drinks, and corn poppers as an appetizer. The corn poppers were a little sweet, but very good. Main dishes were the Ruben, and Patty melt. Each item was good, served hot and prepared as asked. Pattymelt came with coleslaw, it's a larger cut of veggies and liquidity, but very good. (On par with that chicken place) Onion rings were light and very good. French Fries were thicker crinkle cut style, very good overall. Pool table, bar and good food.

Leonardo's, an Italian-American eatery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, offers a nostalgic dining experience. Established in 1954, the restaurant exudes retro charm with its vintage ambiance and decor. Adorned with red banquettes and a sunken central bar, Leonardo's takes you back to the lively atmosphere of the 1970s. Coin-operated jukeboxes at each table further enhance the throwback vibe.
My grandparents got engaged here, my parents told my grandparents they got engaged here. My family has been eating here for decades and generations. I no longer live in Iowa but LOVE coming to this preserved gem when I come home Everytime! I love this place, it’s neat and quaint and full of memories for all of us! You can enjoy pizza and great drink options here!

What a cool atmosphere, with lots of history! I was here for lunch on a Saturday, so it wasn’t very busy. The pizza was very good, and prices were reasonable. I will definitely be back the next time I come through Cedar Rapids.

On our trip from AZ to WI to visit family, we decided to get something to eat (instead of eating what we brought with us)...so I looked up places near where we were. Boyfriend who loves Pizza and Burgers agreed to this place. Glad we did!
Jill D — Google review
This is a super cool place!! Highly recommend if you’re in the area! I felt like I was in a 70s mobster movie!! The service was phenomenal and the food was too! My husband and I shared the bacon and cheese fries and an individual pepperoni and sausage pizza! We were super stuffed after eating just those two things! So glad we visited while on vacation! Would definitely come back if we are in the area again! Only critique I have is there was a bit much sausage on the pizza for me, but it was still super delicious…also love how it was crumbled instead of big chunks!!!

Love the atmosphere on the inside, would be a great place for a date night or to catch a game. Service was really good and the pizza was awesome.

Best pizza. Stromboli, beef and onion with fresh diced tomatoes. Always stop if we can on our way through the area.

Everything about this place is perfect. The foods quality is amazing and the staff is great. Luke and Doug in the kitchen provide high quality and consistent food. The most recommended restaurant in the area

A small mistake was made on our pizza and they went above and beyond to make it right with us and to make sure we were happy and enjoyed our dining experience!! The sisters were funny, engaged in conversation and very friendly. I would recommend you go to Leonardo’s for their pizza and the service if you haven’t already been 🤗

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Downtown Cedar Rapids, The Map Room is a delightful gathering spot that perfectly blends comfort food with an eclectic atmosphere. This charming bar offers a menu brimming with globally-inspired burgers and delectable loaded fries, making it an ideal destination for casual dining or a relaxed date night. With its rustic decor featuring exposed brick walls and vintage maps, guests can enjoy their meals in a cozy setting while sipping on artisan cocktails or craft beers.
I’ve been to more burger joints than I can count, and The Map Room stands out as an uncontested favorite of mine. They offer such a unique, fun, and interesting array of burgers! Each one seems to be named after a location, with toppings that correspond to that region. I ordered the Delhi Burger, which came with a flavorful curry sauce, fresh mint chutney, and paneer cheese. I’ve never come across such a creative selection of burgers so hats off to whoever designed the menu. Beyond that, their fries are fantastic, and they offer several exciting variations to choose from. As far as drinks go, everything is very reasonably priced, and their cocktails are excellent. Service and atmosphere are also a clear 10/10. My waiter was pleasant to chat with, and the overall ambiance of the venue is warm, inviting, and enjoyable. All in all, this place deserves more than five stars. I’d gladly travel back to Cedar Rapids just to eat here again.

If you're a fan of Old Fashioneds and you don't get the “Three Flight,” you’re seriously missing out. The standout for me was the banana-flavored Old Fashioned—perfect as a dessert drink with a sweet finish. Unexpected, but it works. For dinner, I had the Marrakesh burger topped with chermoula, hummus, and goat cheese. Not your typical burger toppings, but the flavors came together beautifully. I also upgraded my side to the Mexico City salad—an excellent mix of spring greens and vibrant veggies. Fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully composed. We’re self-admitted food snobs from Chicago, so trust me when I say: this place delivers something special. Unique yet approachable, creative without trying too hard. Bonus points for the inclusive and welcoming atmosphere—something we truly appreciated. If you're in Cedar Rapids and looking for a memorable dining experience, The Map Room is a must.

We were staying in Cedar Rapids for the weekend and wanted to try a place that seemed to have good reviews when we got into town. Was easy to find street parking (Friday, early afternoon). I did love the decor/theme that went along with the name of the restaurant. We walked through the interior but ended up eating outside on the patio. It took quite a long time for someone to serve us. We had drinks and two meals. Server wasn't too attentive even when the crowd got smaller. It did rain a bit but we were luckily under a walkway so we didn't have to move. The fries were great and I would recommend getting the sampler where you get four flavors to dip the fries into.
Abigail L — Google review
Sooo good! The whole family was happy with their meal. The flight of fry sauces was a great way to try several flavors. The seasonal salad dressing was so bright and delish.
Sarah A — Google review
We read multiple reviews that said The Map Room was THE place to try in Cedar Rapids. It did not disappoint!! Try the various loaded fries, and tune burgers are huge!
Carolyn H — Google review
Checked out The Map Room in Cedar Rapids Iowa it was a neat place. Lots of choices for burgers and sauces + toppings for fries. I had the El Paso burger with green Chile gravy, jalapeños, and fresco cheese. April had The Springfield double cheeseburger with Milwaukee Fries which were beer cheese and bacon. Great Service, Quick Kitchen, and Good Food.
Scott M — Google review
I got the marrakesh burger with a veggie patty. It was just okay, not enough goat cheese or olives to balance the other flavors in my opinion. The side salad was standard. Service was good. Paid street parking available nearby (validation offered by restaurant but I couldn’t get it to work).
MunchNCrunch1 — Google review
I visited this restaurant for the first time earlier this week. Honestly, I had one of the best burgers ever there. Food was absolutely delicious. The service was great, and the ambience is wonderful. It’s fun to see all the vintage maps that are framed and hung on the walls. I will definitely return some time.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Cedar Rapids, Bricks Bar & Grill is a charming two-story beer hall that exudes character and nostalgia. Housed in a century-old building adorned with antiques, this local gem offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for unwinding after a long day. With an impressive rotating selection of 60 craft beers on tap, it’s a haven for beer enthusiasts looking to explore new flavors.
Had an awesome experience at Bricks! Our server was fantastic—super friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome. The BBQ Smash Burger was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked with great flavor—and the Lady Killer cocktail was just as impressive. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the food and the service here. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to.
Maegan — Google review
Stopped here for a cold one and some grub. Had a few beers and a decent time. Good music, nice environment. Then the check came. Reference the menu and the check and they subtly gouged a couple extra bucks. Waitress told us fries were $2 extra with our chicken tender purchase. Turns out that’s untrue as well. Then charge us a non cash fee too. I mean come on. Nickel and dimed and lied to. Disappointed. Had a good time, but I’m not stupid. I realize it’s less than $4 but the principle of the matter makes sure I never return and don’t recommend this place. Furthermore, your tip calculation at the bottom should be based off the pretax amount. Even more deceit. Gross.
Chris R — Google review
Super awesome staff! Been here 5 times, different staff member each time and all are the most friendly and fun people making it a very fun atmosphere. Now the food………The in-house smoked wings are the BEST in Cedar Rapids hands down!
Matt M — Google review
Firstly, the wings here are AMAZING. Definitely underrated and the Thursday, all you can eat deals are a really good deal. My only complaint with this place is the volume of the music. It seems a lot louder than most places and makes it really hard to carry on a conversation with people you’re sitting next to as well as the person serving you. Other than that it’s a really cool vibe. Very friendly staff!
Minespidur — Google review
I was there a few days ago and I had a sweet cocktail that had pineapple which was so sweet and not strong and I loved it. I also had the beef tacos which were also really good and the staff here were very polite. Will be on my list of favorites here in Cedar Rapids.

It was ok after a late Iowa game. Pretty good beer selection. 🍺 Didn't eat so cannot say if food was good.

Staff attentive and friendly. Service was on the slower side for a Tuesday night, but they did warn us that staffing was short that night. Drinks were really good, mysic was great, food was very salty (?). Maybe someone had an accident in the kitchen? Great location with a patio in the back.

The Grant Wood Studio and Visitor Center is a must-visit destination in Cedar Rapids. This studio, which served as Grant Wood's personal workspace from 1924 to 1935, is where he created some of his most iconic paintings, including American Gothic. The light-filled loft showcases Wood's unique interior design and offers insights into the artist's life and quirks. Visitors can explore the modest apartment where Wood lived with his family while creating many of his renowned works.
A tour of the studio where Grant Wood created some of his most lasting works. If this is something you are interested in then you will like this.
Sam F — Google review
Definitely wanted to share my positive experience at this amazing place. The free tour starts with a well-produced video that immerses you into the world of Grant Wood: personal history, career history, accolades and awards, and great backstories to many of his iconic creations. I highly recommend you see this video before attending the art museum, because it is great reference to prime you for what you will see in person. The studio tour is great, and as you are shown all of the features of the studio and are told about its background, what truly amazes is that Wood crafted it all out of a simple, primitive hayloft — Everything. Keep that in mind, because your respect for him will multiply exponentially. My hosts, Dan and Kevin, were both friendly, accommodating and very knowledgeable — the passion they both have for the space is authentic and contagious. Extremely pleased I went!
T B — Google review
The Grant Wood Studio and Visitor Center is a wonderful treasure of history that has been carefully maintained by the excellent staff at the Cedar Rapids Museum.
Greg J — Google review
As an art teacher it was interesting to hear a bit more about grant wood but I was more invested in the neat architecture and design of the studio space. That said, my partner was not very happy with how long the visit was. When we stopped into the visitor area we were asked to sit and watch a 25 minute video about Grant Wood and his life which admittedly wasn’t my favorite part. I would suggest, if you have the confidence to do so, that you ask to skip the video.
Audrey K — Google review
Great spot to visit with a lot of really interesting information about Grant Wood’s life! It was so cool to get a peek inside his studio and home. Plus, admission is free! Would definitely recommend a visit.

Fantastic experience. It was so amazing seeing the studio and making connections to some of his art. The staff was so. Ert helpful and knowledgeable!
Laurie T — Google review
Fascinating little place where Grant Wood lived and painted. He was brilliant in converting what was basically just a hay loft into a very efficient living space. It gave me a new understanding of the person behind such famous paintings as American Gothic.

Took my daughter to dinner here after her gymnastics competition. This place did not disappoint. Staff was super friendly. Food came out quickly. We had nachos for an appetizer, amazing. My daughter had the kids burger and fries, yummy. I had the Ahi poke bowl and that was to die for! We had the chocolate cake for dessert and oh my gawdddd it was spectacular!!

My husband and I decided to try something different do we went to 30 hop. Reviews were good so why not. First I ordered the house hot wings. Now these were great, all but the ranch. There was absolutely no taste in the ranch. Next I ordered the cheeseburger/fries and got a side of potato soup. I can say I was absolutely disappointed. The fries were caked with salt and pepper in one area. The cheeseburger was overcooked and the soup wasnt too bad, but it did taste like mashed potatoes instead of potato soup. Now the service wasnt as bad, but everytime we looked over to find our waitress she was sitting down talking. I sat there for about 10 min not eating was just waiting on to-go containers. Waitress only noticed us because I got up. No it was not busy.

The 30hop burger was very good, juicy and flavorful. I’m not sure if it was the cheese or the aioli, but this burger was one of the most flavorful ones I’ve had. I was also pleasantly surprised that it’s a double patty. The fries were great too, super crispy and well-seasoned.
Tikki — Google review
We’ve been twice, once for dinner and once for lunch, and enjoyed everything both times. Bre was our server again both times, and was amazing. Great in-site and knowledge of the menu. The buffalo cauliflower was too spicy for me but my husband loved it. The Brussels are a great choice for an appetizer. I’ve tried the house salad, nachos and the turkey pesto sandwich; all were delicious. My husband had the Korean beef sandwich, the wings and chips with salsa and said all were really good. I love the clean lines and the relaxed vibe. Plenty of TVs with so many choices to watch. Kid friendly and wheel chair access. Definitely give them a try. They are also open later than most places.

Fantastic little caffeine hot spot with artistic industrial flair, nice two hour parking, plenty of space and well spaced outlets, I noticed music at a good level. Staff was great and patient as I looked over the menu then found the specials. Hummingbird it was! They didn't give a personal cup discount oddly but walked away with a nearly fully tumbler of almond milk and espresso tuned with sweet well balanced flavors. Wifi was quick and I was comfortable for my hour before heading back to Indiana, always a fun treat to find another top notch coffee dip in the wild!

This is a cute coffee shop with a nice atmosphere. I was able to study here for a couple hours. The el ranchero breakfast sandwich was a delicious surprise. Their scones looked amazing and a lot of flavors to choose from, I regret not getting one. I had a latte with their homemade maple nut flavor. The latte wasn’t my favorite but everything else was great. Latte art was amazing :) I’d be back to try another coffee drink and a scone!

Nice indie coffee shop with friendly service and better than average food options. I had an Americano & The El Ranchero. The chorizo was only middle of the road spicy. I didn’t get a scone, but they looked great.

I don't know why it took so long to rate this local coffee shop but it's definitely a vibe. The place is cozy and minimal. It's a great place to kick back and do some work. Cappy hour is such a nice perk and a deal. The staff is always friendly, shout out to Ann for being so accommodating of special requests. The coffee is delicious, I've gotten some beans that rival some of the stuff I buy from specialty roasters like Proud Mary or Little Wolf. I appreciate the incorporation of local art and their support of it.
Brennan G — Google review
After today's experience I will never come back. I have been a supporter of this coffee shop for quite some time. I enjoy the updates on social media and the people. Today was quite different. I didn't appreciate how I was treated. Starting with my order I have been getting matcha lattes here with almond milk for quite some time. Yes I'm aware as with every place there is an upcharge for that. Here the way they make them you can barely taste any matcha so I would make it a point to ask for a little extra. I always asked if it was an extra charge and was always told no even by people who have worked there a long time. I was told today asking for extra was a 2 dollar upcharge. I was told it has been like that since June. I was told the upcharge was due to people asking for extra over time. I kindly explained to them that people are asking for extra because they can't taste it. I provided feedback in a calm manner. I was not rude. It was just constructive feedback which businesses should be receptive to. I was told to have a nice day which sounded a bit condescending considering the circumstances. Not an I'm sorry they haven't been charging you or we will take your feedback in to consideration and hope you come back. None of that. There is a coffee shop in Iowa City that carries ceremonial grade matcha which I assume is expensive and even with almond milk, I'm not paying well over 9 dollars for it. You can also taste it very well so there is no need to ask for extra. Since customers have mentioned to you that they ask for extra because they can't taste it, my hope is that feedback is listened to in an open manner rather than a customer feeling a bit dismissed today. My hope is whoever left the Face Savoring emoji wasn't an employee as that is pretty sarcastic.

Found this while looking for coffee shops during my drive. Convenient spot with a parking lot on the side. Benches out front if you want to enjoy your coffee out there. Can't wait to go back and try something else!

With numerous TVs scattered throughout the venue and an outdoor patio perfect for soaking up the sun, it’s an ideal place to catch your favorite game while enjoying good food with friends or family.
Really good sports bar, and by what I mean by that is they understand what a sports bar is supposed to be! If you are looking for a game they will do their best to actually find that game for you and put it on a screen! Food is not bad, their chicken is absolutely amazing, the only slight critique I can say is there could be a little better selection but overall the food is good!
Steven K — Google review
First thing I thought was that the place could use a little renovation. Bushwoods looked kind of worn and the parking lot has a couple of potholes that need filling. The place was pretty busy when I got there; no surprise since it was Saturday evening. If you go there on a weekend and you order food, expect to wait. The service was fine but they could really use some extra employees to help manage the orders better. The server who went around my area was pleasant and helped out promptly when a guy accidentally spilled his drink. Props to her for efficiency and courtesy. I only ordered some cheese fries and they were quite tasty. The ranch sauce was a welcome accompaniment to the dish and the fries didn’t skimp on the bacon. I had considered getting the chicken nachos but the sheer size drove me away (something like that ought to be shared among several people). I’m not big on bars but all things considered, the service was respectable and I enjoyed the food I ordered.
Aaron R — Google review
Local place with great food. I think this place gets forgotten about because of its location and its been around for awhile; it should not be overlooked. They have a large menu with pizza, salads, burgers, chicken, apps etc. My "go to" are the Chicken wraps, my husband is a burger or rueben guy. We also really enjoy the cheese curds and the broasted potatoes you get as a side option are old time delicious. The employees are always friendly. The building is not as fancy as some of the newer places in town and the parking lot is a bit rough, but don't let that deter you from getting great food. Support local!

I haven't been here in about a decade. I recalled it being more restaurant and less bar back then. Therefore, it was louder than I was expecting for carrying on a table conversation. Otherwise, good food, great service.

The service was excellent. Server came to the table within a few minutes of us being seated. We ordered our drinks, got them within 3 minutes. We ordered an appetizer and our food. The appetizer came out within 10 minutes and the main course came back after we got done with the appetizer. We got refills without asking. The food was priced right on. Right place to watch a game and have a conversation.

After talking with people after a Cedar Rapids Kernels game I decided to go with them to this sports bar. It was right around when they stopped serving food but it was not terribly busy. Great smaller outdoor venue. Well maintained, security was polite but effective in keeping folks from blocking aisles, plenty of open space, & good restroom facilities for an outdoor venue. Beautiful area by the river, plenty of places to eat nearby. Parking is on the street, but it's free. Overall good experience!

Went to seether first time at this venue. Great layout, nice bathrooms, and seating was nice. Parking may be an issue we did get in the ten dollars to park lot 2 blocks away.
Chad G — Google review
The outdoor experience and the music was fantastic. The restrooms smelled so bad, everyone was commenting how bad it smelled. There were plenty of drink options. If you wanted food at the food court, options were very limited. We parked on 3rd Ave past the bridge by the Paramount theater. On exiting, we walked there and took 8th st exit to I-380. Super easy exit, no traffic! We would go again, especially for the entertainment, not the restrooms.

+ POSITIVES: clean, spacious, helpful staff, quality drink concessions, proper bathrooms - NEGATIVES: poorly labeled seats, third party ticket purchase cite I was super impressed by the amphitheater. It was our first time and we will be returning for sure! High quality facilities, cold drinks, and great seating. The staff through the entire venue was great. Everything moved smoothly and efficiently with their help. There was plenty of room for everyone, even with a full show, so you were never jammed into a tight line or waiting forever at concessions. The drinks were super cold even on the 100 degree day. (Of course expect to pay show concession prices, but at least they weren't lukewarm.) Luckily the venue was shaded for most of the late summer show. The seats were clean and spaced enough to actually enjoy your experience with leg room to spare. The seats weren't labeled very well, but I'll take the extra bit of room for a tiny bit of inconvenience in finding my seat. The bathroom building was way better than most shows I've been to where you have to use porta-potties. Even during the intermission between bands the line moved quickly since they had so many stalls. In order to get tickets to the show, you had to pay a significant processing fee in a different website. I would have gladly driven to an office to purchase tickets in person or ordered them on a website directly from the venue, but that was not an option. I would love to see that middle man cut out for our next show. Over all it was a wonderful experience and I won't hesitate in going again.

Really neat venue on the river downtown in Cedar Rapids. Great viewing from most of the venue, and sound is great including up front without being muddled. They have real bathrooms which is nice. There are not enough concessions/drink stands and they are a bit unorganized. I would definitely return to a show here.

Awesome experience. First time there, and it definitely didn't disappoint

First time.. Stumbled in on a meander... looking forward to an event someday. Lovely riverfront amphitheater
Michele H — Google review
Nice venue but the sound was pretty disappointing. We were in the chairs on one of the sides and we could barely hear the opening band and the mix was not very good in our area. We walked to the back center and the sound was much better there. For what we paid for tickets, sound should have been good everywhere. If you get tickets here, make sure you get them in the center section.

My family and I had a great time. Veterans Memorial Stadium was awesome. Walking up to the stadium, there were displays for each war, old tanks, and much more. Great ballpark, with awesome food, and BOGO drinks on Fridays. There is lots of stuff to buy in the souvenir shop. Loved every moment!

Great place for a date night or hangout with friends, to have some wine & delicious food. The pretzel bites were a perfect texture, paired with a rich cheese sauce. A charcuterie board is a must have!

Tried this place for the first time with the wife while out shopping. Cute and clean. Well laid out with lots of options. Draft beer, can beer, and of course, lots of wine. Sydney, the bartender, was wonderful and super helpful in making selections and giving samples. Will be back for sure.

I have been a handful of times and have had nothing but a positive experience! I recently went for a winery spotlight wine tasting and they were experiencing technical difficulties when I first arrived. However, they promptly fixed the issue and offered complimentary tasting to make up for it. Totally unnecessary but amazing customer service!! They have amazing food, wine, and beer-HIGHLY recommend the crushberry beer and the pizzettes. Overall, 10/10 atmosphere, service, and products. Great place to enjoy great company!

Went to Wine Styles today for a glass of wine after lunch, and it was wonderful! Had great service from Stacey. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wine. The wine selections were varied, and we loved the wine we had there by the glass today. Such a fun atmosphere where you can shop for wine to take home while having a glass in the shop. Good prices on wine bottles to take home. Perfect place to add to our afternoon today! Thank you for the excellent service, Stacey!

Thai restaurant
Nara Thai Cuisine is a small, family-owned restaurant that offers authentic and delicious Thai dishes. The menu features a variety of options, including the popular Tom Kha soup. Customers have praised the friendly and helpful staff who are skilled at guiding diners through their flavor preferences. While some may find the prices slightly higher, many appreciate the generous portion sizes and overall value for money.
Just experienced this great restaurant with a wonderful friend! The food, service and atmosphere were outstanding! Holdor was our waiter and he was very professional, friendly and gracious. Can’t get any better than that! I give them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Naser S — Google review
I will preface by saying I came for lunch the day they first advertised their fluffy donuts. There was a surprisingly massive line so I skipped the donuts though they offered mini strawberry donuts which I got. I expected them to be a smaller version of the donuts from their post (see attached pictures) but they were actually just small pieces of fried dough with sugar coating with a container of strawberry sauce on the side rather than a filled donut. This was not explained (nor the cost which was a bit much for the small portion, I think $5 or $7). I ordered the drunken noodles with tofu extra spicy. The flavor was very good and portion large though it was not spicy at all. I asked if they had extra hot sauce or chilis and was given sriracha. Service was very slow. It took about 15 minutes to get seated even though I was the only one dining in. The server never checked up on me and was hard to flag down. The food was prepared quickly which was a plus. I still gave Nara Thai 4 stars because I am assuming some of my negative experience was due to them being overwhelmed by an unexpected crowd of people wanting their donuts. Hopefully it’d be better if it was a non-donut day (though the Facebook post made the donuts look incredible).

Same cuisine, different flavors. I am thinking of my recent visits to NaRa Thai and Siamville Thai Cuisine, both in Cedar Rapids, Iowa I am not sure if it is a regional style or the individual chefs interpretation of the cuisine, but the two restaurants taste quite different from one another to me. I am planning a head-to-head comparison soon, I'll order dishes from both to go and try to taste the difference. But for now, individual reviews, the first being NaRa Thai. I have visited a couple of times recently, both in the later evening after strenuous pickleball matches. **I only mention the pickleball because I find that my hunger and attitude sitting down to a meal just have a definite effect on my perception of it.** I enjoy Thai cuisine in general, and NaRa did nothing to dispel that. The restaurant is of the strip mall variety. I found it clean, comfortable, and not overly ornamented. The service was excellent! We were seated quickly and attended to just as quickly. And the food was delivered, you guessed it, quickly😅 A specific note on our server: sadly, I was too hungry to remember to ask his name. But one can not miss him as he looks very much like a superhero in civilian clothes. My visits were a week apart, and on the second visit,he called me by name, which I feel is a lovely and welcoming touch. Friendly and charming, he definitely set the tone for both visits. On to the food! I have eaten (or sampled) six dishes; Green Curry Garlic, lemongrass, Makrut lime, and Thai basil, green and red peppers, eggplant, basil and pea leaves, cilantro, and coconut milk. This is the dish that really made me think of the difference between the two restaurants. I enjoyed it very much. The flavors were very bright and pronounced, with the dish being savory and rich, but also fresh. Basil Fried Rice This is a rich, hearty fried rice dish, totally suitable as a entrée. Unfortunately one of those I just sampled, but the rice is flavored with that scrumptious, salty, and savory combo of dark sauces, I can't pick them all out individually, but the likes of fish sauce, hoisin, oyster sauce, soy sauce and so on, delish! It contains veg and the aforementioned basil and is really very good. My next visit I feel like I would order it for the table. Mango Fried Rice Thai fried rice and mango, with eggs and broccoli in a sweet sauce with a hint of spice. **This from their menu** Another tasty concoction, but I think that this one is far more suitable as a side dish. Another of those I sampled, but I felt that it flavors were far more subtle, and although delicious, would be better paired with a more flavor-packed dish. Drunken Noodles NarRa's version of Pad Khee Mao. Noodles with fresh peppers, onions, carrots, and basil, all stir-fried with a savory sauce. I ordered it at a "5" heat level and was happy that it had some actual heat! Quite often, I find that chefs in the Midwest hold back on the spice to accommodate local taste, and I am always pleased to get a dish with an authentic level of spicy heat. Of course,it can also be ordered mild, and that certainly is a personal choice (I would go for at least a little heat, tho😁) Delish!! I love spicy noodle dishes, and this one is a winner! And lastly, two appetizers, Fried Shumai & Hagao I have had a zillion servings of shumai. It is a go-to starter for me, super consistent and always tasty. This is the very first time I have had them fried, and they are fantastic! The flavor is familiar, but the fried exterior completely changes the complexion of the dish. This is one of those that all I can really say is, try it. Hagao, one of those dishes firmly in the family of dim sum dumplings. These are shrimp in a salty soy-based sauce and were gone in seconds! I would like to describe their flavor in more detail, but Big D and I were hungry, and I barely had time to snap a pic before the dish was empty. Yum! I will definitely be returning. It might take me several tasty tries to figure out the differences😋 ...and I will make sure to get the incognito superhero's name🤩

Just got back home from dining. The food was wonderful the service was excellent. Normally we get our food to go. Tonight we dined in and the experience was great. We have been wanting to have an order of the Fresh Spring Rolls for a while. We placed our order and were told after we ordered them that they were out. So we ordered the Hagao. It was very good. We got our entree’s and a couple minutes later, they brought out an order of the Spring Rolls. Our server. I wish I could remember his name. ( I am very bad with names) somehow got the kitchen to make us an order. We would have come back another time to get them. Now we will be back another time just so we can continue to support this local business. Will recommend this establishment to all. Thanks for the wonderful food and service. We will be back.

The owner is incredibly talented (check out her pictures up front about some local achievements!) and the food is so good! We tried dumpling sampler, drunken noodles, basil fried rice, Racy pad Thai, pad see u and another thing I can't remember what it was called (& I'm sure I didn't spell everything right).. but they were all delicious! Even our pickier kids enjoyed it (even if they avoided some of the veggies.. I enjoyed those! Haha)! We finished off with some mango sticky rice & ice cream - so yummy! We were passing through while traveling on vacation, but if we could go here all the time, we totally would! If you are ever in the area or local to the area, you should absolutely give them a try! You will not be disappointed!

The food was excellent. Heat level was light for me had a 3 but chilis provided where perfect to boost the heat level. Our server Holden was great. Would highly recommend. Had the drunken noodles and drunken ramen. Very good experience

I got pad Thai. It was a super large serving and the noodles were real good. The sauce was overly sweet to me. I would not order it again for that reason. I brought a lot of leftover home and I'm going to add a jar of peanut sauce to it and see if that helps.

Hidden Gem! My husband and I had a kid free date night when I randomly found The Hip-Stir so we decided to check it out and it didn’t disappoint. Service was fabulous, food was delicious, but the atmosphere is what sets this place apart. It’s unique with many adorable little touches throughout. Super energetic atmosphere with creative decor. The salmon was cooked to perfection! The Ramen seemed suspiciously like spaghetti but the sauce was fantastic. Super flavorful, spicy without being over the top. Saturday night and the place was packed but we were seated within a few minutes and the food came out in a reasonable time. Nice variety on the menu too.

Fusion American-Asian restaurant and cocktail bar with an eclectic atmosphere. The food is almost French in its buttery richness. -Le Shmashburger is a buttery double smash burger with cheese that requires the banana peppers to cut through it. -Macaroni and cheese is creamy buttery goodness. -The Sacred Cow is a marinated beef and cheese Philly of a masterpiece. -The ramen is very good with marinated grilled pork belly in a thick rich broth.

We have wanted to try this place for a while. We made a reservation on Open Door for 530 on Friday night. Their happy hour discounts include Friday night were so many places do not. The place was pretty much full when we got thier and full by 6. I ordered one of the weekly specials, Cioppion. Fantastic! Have not had any better since we were in Boston. Mary got the fish and chips, again, cooked perfectly and plenty! Luis, our server was, was fantastic. Explained all of the specials and discussed the many delicious options on the menu and was very attentive to any of our needs. I do not generally give all 5 star reviews, but the hip-stir hit on all aspects. Oh, they also have a ramen around the world options. We look forward to those rotating options to try.

Wow! This place is amazing! Walked in and waited just a bit to sit down but the staff were very friendly. The bathroom was clean and so was the entire restaurant! Cool vibe, private and great for a date night with my wife. Small menu but what’s on there is finely prepared. We ordered the pretzel as an appetizer. HANDS DOWN THE BEST PRETZEL YOU WILL EVER HAVE. She ordered the Cajun Cavatapi and I had the pork belly ramen. Both were delicious but we both liked hers more. There was an Impossible amount of food to finish and at a decent price. The vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by original artwork adorning the walls, creating a colorful backdrop for your meal. I’ve been here twice so far and love the food. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and Mac n cheese while my mom tried the Rachel sandwich with chicken and wild rice soup. I’ve also had the turkey club with their kettle chips and a lemonade. Everything was delicious and high quality. I love the shops they have on site, as we shopped after we ate. They have indoor and outdoor seating with a good amount of space. It’s a great area to visit. I will be back soon to try more! Highly recommend!

Such a cute place and great vibe! We ate inside, then finished our coffee on the patio. Great music playing. Food pretty good overall. Had breakfast and had a scramble, avocado toast and biscuits and gravy. While my scramble was good, the avocado toast looked awesome and I saw someone with the breakfast sandwich, which looked awesome. You order at the counter, which isn't what I was expecting but it worked out well and food came out quickly. Highly recommend!

Charming ambiance, but: Depending on the day/random whim/alignment of the stars, their menu might not be the menu they're offering. We walked in to find that the menu on their website, and more importantly the menu on the TV on their wall, wasn't the menu they're offering. Instead they had an extremely limited offering of a couple dishes (and none were vegetarian or easily made vegetarian.) One would think that a restaurant with a TV menu displaying the words "Breakfast all day" would either 1) actually offer breakfast all day, or 2) turn off the TV.
Karen K — Google review
This is my go to breakfast spot, i usually just order for myself since it’s close to work. This time I ordered to go for the family. 3 orders of the eggs, bacon, toast, and home fries with queso ON the home fries. Asked for over easy eggs and got fried hard eggs, the toast was burnt, and they put the queso on the side instead of on it, which would be fine but they specifically asked and did the opposite. The home fries weren’t cooked long enough and were cold and soggy. West end is usually pretty busy so I would understand somewhat if that was the case this time but they weren’t busy at all when I was there and had my order done very quickly, probably a little too quickly this time unfortunately.

If you're looking for an exhilarating experience in Cedar Rapids, look no further than Dragon's Lair! This vibrant venue is perfect for birthday parties and group outings, offering thrilling activities like laser tag and immersive VR escape rooms. Guests rave about the friendly staff who are always ready to assist, ensuring a seamless experience from planning to playtime. The laser tag here is not your childhood version; it's a high-energy adventure that keeps you engaged and on your toes—just remember to wear comfortable shoes!
We planned a party for our son here to play laser tag. Honestly was super worried it wouldn’t be worth the money, cause let’s face it it happens. JOKES ON ME! We’re already planning our next trip for family and friends and cannot wait to do laser tag again. Usually I’m not the one to jump into games, however I did here. And I can’t say a single negative thing. The boys has a blast! The fact there is a story line and more than just running around being crazy is great! Aaron and Blaze were so accommodating and helped explain things wonderfully. Seriously best ever. We loved that the space was so large, and that there were different guns to choose from. It was great that there were rooms to put our things in and then essentially we had the building to ourselves. Which for a bday party with a bunch of 8-10 year old boys was so great!

We had an amazing time with 2 adults vs 3 kids, age 12, 11, and 8. We had an hour and a half of several different missions, they explained everything so well, and one of them even jumped on the team with the kids to help them have the best time. They let us choose some of the games. We have trouble getting all the kids to enjoy the same activity, this was magic. Absolute hidden gem.

This is the best place to have fun in Cedar Rapids hands down! We went for a birthday party and so much fun playing laser tag! The staff is amazing greeting you instantly. We had a party room with some arcade games in it. We chose laser tag. Oh my this isn’t laser tag from when we were kids. Choose the laser gun wisely! We were in there for a long time I have no idea how long it was I was not keeping track of time. Wear good shoes and be ready to sweat. We are still talking about it days later. Book birthday parties or grab your friends and their friends. It holds like 22 people. Thank you Dragons lair!

Another great session! Every year when spring break happens for our 3 kids, we let them each plan a day of activities and they always pick Dragon's Lair. That is a testament to the quality job your staff does. Very patient staff dealing with excited kids from birthday parties and younger players, they make everyone feel welcomed. Great variety of games, also new game types that I have never played before even from prior sessions! Keeps it fresh and new! You can feel the pride and joy in this business which is a rare thing in today's world. Keep doing your thing and having fun!

We had our kids’ birthday party here and it was awesome! Having the private room included some arcade games that my kids loved almost as much as the laser tag! Aaron and his team were amazing and answered all my questions when planning and booking the party. The kids had so much fun and even the adults got to play and have a great time with the laser tag. The missions were really detailed and engaging but also challenging. I’m so glad we had the party there and hope to come back soon!

Employees were so nice and fun and we just had an all-around good time. Thank you Dragon's Lair!!! Edit: Fiance adds this would be a sweet place to have Magic the Gathering events :)

This place is absolutely amazing! We come here often to do VR escape rooms. We completed the three escape rooms and the technical engineering and the staff make it feel like you really are apart of an intense mission. We have done escape rooms at other places and the introductions were always bland and it made the experience is hard to get into. Not only the amazing escape rooms, but the laser tag is unmatched. The games that they have give it a different kind of feeling. More than just collecting scores, but involved individual games, makes the teams learn how to work together and this place is HUGE!! Spare Time cannot touch this laser tag, not even close. The most important part of a facility that is made for kids and families is the staff. From Aaron to the dedicated employees. You can tell that they love what they do. We had my sones birthday here and we have talked about having it there again because it is a place that makes you feel welcome and gets you excited for the experience. 5 stars is still too few. This place is one of our favorite places to spend an afternoon.

Friday Night contest for Best comedian in Iowa. We didn’t have any expectations on how funny the comedians would be. I am awed at anyone who can get on stage and put themselves out there. Almost a dozen stand ups performed and everyone was extremely funny at one point or another. You get a ticket to vote on your favorite one but judges also vote so I’m not sure how that worked. Some of them were hilarious their whole set others seemed to still be working on theirs. This is NOT G rated so be warned. Parking is next to the taproom. This place like any other bars is crowded on Friday nights so get there early. I do not enjoy hoppy beer so I was fine with a coors light. Only one bar tender so order at the bar.

5 stars for the comedy, 5 stars for the bartender, 0 stars for online ticket experience and attempted refund experience. I tried to buy a ticket online but never got an email or saw a charge on my account. I tried to buy a ticket again a couple days later and no luck. I went to the show and paid 20 at the door and the next week both charges appeared on my card. Tried calling, but phone number is out of service. Tried submitting online form twice, no response. Had to go to the venue after a week of no response. I explained (multiple times politely and patiently) that I was trying to get a $30 refund for the two online tickets. I was told I would be refunded but only got money back for one ticket. Emailed twice, no response. I saw someone else left a review of a similar experience and finally got their refund. I'm hoping maybe I can get the same.

Went on 2/9/24 for the David Collins 30-minute Half Hour Show. We were thoroughly disappointed. We didn't really find any of it funny. We stayed hoping the stand-ups after his show would be better. However, that was not the case. The 1st stand-up wasn't even prepared to perform, saying he didn't know he was going. We didn't laugh at all for the 2nd stand-up and ended up walking out. The tipping point was when someone started smoking behind us.

Great atmosphere to hear a comedy show! The entertainment was great, and the bartender was nice and helpful. Decent selection of drinks. This was a great place to have a Friday date night! We will definitely be going back sometime in the future

What a wonderful comedy venue! It’s great to have a spot for comedy again in Cedar Rapids. We came in for the Queer Stand Up Night for CR Pride this year and it was an incredibly welcoming and warm atmosphere. The drinks were delicious and the space was intimate and small feeling while still accommodating a crowd.

Wonderful experience here! The crowd work night was my first live comedy experience and it exceeded all expectations! Jameson hosted, and his line-up was perfect. Also loved the bartender, she was funny too! - Katertot Casserole

Great little venue! The bartender was friendly, the prices were reasonable, and we got to have a few laughs. It's a pretty good way to spend an evening!
