Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a grandiose hillside park that spans over two-and-a-half square kilometers and took 150 years to complete. It is described as the most magnificent achievement of the Baroque style in blending architecture and landscape.
Really very beautiful park... great spot to go for a walk with your family and friends enjoying the great natural scenic view along with the great view of the castle.. from 1st of May to 3rd of May you'll have a chance to enjoy the water play.. we'll once again visit this spot during this time to enjoy the water play. #familyandfriendspot #hiking #castle

Beautiful place to visit . During summers there will be activity called wasserspiele which means water runs through from top of kassel and its takes almost 2.5 hrs to reach the down of the castle. You can explore self or you can book the walking tour via their website. Please check the timing in there website for more info. This water activity is available only during summers check there website for more info again.

Journey to the castle is great. However once you reach at the top. Nothing much to do! Something creative can be done for visitors.
Nishant C — Google review
Amazing Park with Castle and lots of walking/hiking paths. You could easily spend days here and still not get tired of it. Unfortunately it seems like the day we went they did not have the water on at the Herkules statue. Shame because otherwise it would have been even more beautiful.
Sidra R — Google review
Absolutely stunning park! The views are breathtaking, the architecture is majestic, and the walking paths are peaceful and well-kept. A perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, and take great photos. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!
Stefan S — Google review
It was very beautiful place to visit, would highly recommend during summer time when there is waterfall.
Sakshi D — Google review
Absolutely stunning. A lot of walking but there is a shuttle bus from Hercules to the Schloss. A lot of beautiful statues. Allow a good chunk of the day to visit and best on a dry day.
Vicci J — Google review
Marvelous piece of man made wonder. Gigantic, rusty and majestic. Nice to trek with the family and have excellent opportunity to explore the nature. From HBF, you can take tram 4 to wilhelmspark and from there either ride with bus line 23 untill Herkules or trek the 3 odd kilometers. Also there are parking opportunities near wilhelmspark tram station but it's filled quickly on Wasserspiel days (Sundays, Wednesdays and public holidays in summer). Worth and recommended.

Löwenburg is a late 18th-century castle located within the expansive parkland of Bergpark Wilhelmshohe. This UNESCO World Heritage Site covers 560 hectares and features unique garden art. The castle, once a pleasure palace for landgraves, is an impressive sight alongside the large Wilhelmshohe Palace.
First time in the park, we'll be back in the spring! Stunning views, terrain. We climbed the stone stairs from Wilhelmshöhe Palace, the castle in the haze, very impressive. Restrooms are open The interactive video presentation in the tower is free for everyone and without visiting the museum. Very simple and easy to understand with a child))
Ivan G — Google review
It's a small yet beautiful castle. Sadly couldn't get the tour, because the tickets were sold out and didn't knew I had to reserve in advance. Still it's a beautiful place to visit

Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel is a breathtaking blend of nature, myth, and monumental art. At its heart stands the mighty statue of Hercules, watching over cascading waterfalls and terraced slopes — a UNESCO World Heritage site where history flows with every step.
Ali A — Google review
You have to be ready to walk up and down for at least 3 hours. Good for walking
Ah S — Google review
The castle is very small. It looks bigger in the pictures online. located in the park and within walking distance of the Hercules monument and fountain. for some reason Google maps does not show the route to get to the park. use 1 tram it goes straight from the station to the park. it will take about 3 hours to visit the park

A nice little castle in an area with many walking paths through woodlands. Worth a stop if you need to stretch your legs on a long drive 👌 There's a free bathroom and a restaurant right by it if you need food as well.
Frederikke B — Google review
Visited while on family vacation. Totally amazing place with plenty of beautiful views and tracks to enjoy on the grounds. Definitely well worth a small hike up, now I haven't seen any track or sign for buggies or wheelchair users. As there are a good few stairs to claim up at the final part. But there might be an alternative road, that I'm not aware of.
Bart P — Google review
The castle itself is pretty. There were no signs other than the bathroom with an arrow. We bought tickets to enter. But when we purchased no one told us you had to register the ticket online to do the tour. The tour is only in German. Which is fine. We are in Germany. (Taken German only tours before) However while we were waiting outside the guide who was taking a group brought them to the lockers. No one spoke English so I was under the impression you can not bring bags with you inside on the tour. I very well could be wrong. A few other people on that tour were also confused so they trailed along. I wish we toured it. After the hike down from the monument and knowing we had to do a hike back. It would have been more worth it. I’d contemplate doing it with my kids on a day I’m prepared to walk down the lengthy hill.

Art museum
Fridericianum is a historic museum housed in an 18th-century neoclassical building, making it one of the oldest and most significant museums in Germany. Originally established as one of Europe's first public museums in 1779, it was funded by the proceeds from selling Hessian soldiers to the British during the American Revolutionary War. The museum boasts a diverse collection including fine art such as drawings, paintings, and sculptures.
Even though I only had one day in Kassel and didn’t get to go inside, the Fridericianum’s stunning architecture and the peaceful vibe around it really left an impression. It gave me this calm, almost inspiring feeling, like the kind of place where ideas just start to flow. Sometimes, it’s the outside of a place that says it all.

Great museum. Impressive historic building. Great coffeeshop inside. Nice and spatious exposition rooms. Very friendly and helpfull staff.
Ludo R — Google review
I absolutely loved the museum. It feels enclosed, safe, architecturally. Wednesdays are free entries. You also need to carry 2€ coins to use the locker room if you have Rucksäcke. They have a Kino Cinema to watch the short interview films about the artist, whose work is being showcased here. Must go in Kassel.
Wolf M — Google review
It's a very small museum which is relatively pricy. When I was there, the special exhibition was called Inside/Outside and it was rather small and boring. There is basically no permanent exhibition. I'd recommend deciding whether or not to visit the museum depending on if the current exhibition sounds very interesting to you - otherwise just skip it and enjoy the nearby park.
Timo H — Google review
Lovely museum, fairly small, but the exhibition we saw was definitely worth a visit! The whole viewing took about 45 minutes. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and there is a cute cafe inside. Recommended!

Concert hall
Cultural center
The documenta-Halle is a sleek and modern art museum located in Kassel, Germany. It is known for its annual exhibit of contemporary works from numerous countries, making it a must-visit for art enthusiasts. The venue hosts temporary art exhibits, concerts, and various cultural events throughout the year and serves as the main location for the highly anticipated documenta Festival.
I was invited to participate in the Documenta Fifteen Kassel and the Event took place here in the Rotilla Festival & Tania Bruguera space within the Halle. All the staff in the place were very nice and relaxed.
Arema A — Google review
The main exhibit hall for Documenta 14. To my (unsophisticated) taste, the quality of the art work displayed is quite uneven, hence only 4 stars. I include some pictures of the pieces I liked, and of those that I found to be too gimmicky to be good.
Alexei K — Google review
One of the best exhibitions I saw in documenta, the mural from the Bangladesh artists Brita colective is amazing, so they, and the social kitchen and the photograhs about the minerals extractions are very interesting....
Walter G — Google review
Dokumenta was not impressive. Little content in general. Was expecting a lot, lot more. Like a long night of the museums with little added value. Extremely crowded on a Saturday as expected.
Colin D — Google review
The best part of documenta fifteen 😉
Siniz K — Google review
The Doumenta is a great art 🎨 exhibition that happens every 4 years as I was new in town I was fascinated by my first visit. New and upcoming artists from around the world. So I believe it could be of interest to all.
Adean D — Google review
A few nice works there this year
Chan Y — Google review
Worst Documenta in my experience; mismanaged, confused, no curatorial vision... Just including a bunch of third world third rate artists doesn't make an exhibition inclusive. 2017 showed German management in it's worst light as well... what a waste of resources... what a shame! But kudos for the effort and the reach.

Nature & Parks
Park
Karlsaue Park, located on the banks of the River Fulda, is a stunning 400-acre Baroque park featuring water features, canals, fountains, and artificial lakes. The park is home to the 18th-century Orangery Palace and an island bursting with seasonal blooms. Visitors can explore the symmetrical Aueteich pond and the colorful flower island of Siebenbergen while taking in the beauty of this historical landscape garden.
Karlsaue Park, also known as Staatspark Karlsaue, is a vast historic and botanical park situated in the heart of Kassel, Germany. Covering approximately 150 hectares (370 acres), the park is a magnificent blend of Baroque landscaping, natural beauty, and cultural heritage, offering visitors a tranquil urban oasis filled with scenic water features, art, and lush greenery. Landscape and Design Originally designed in Baroque style in the late 17th and early 18th centuries as a pleasure garden for the Landgraves of Hesse, Karlsaue Park spreads across an extensive area with formal geometrical layouts, ornate fountains, wide canals, and tree-lined avenues. Its crown jewel is the Orangerie, an impressive late-Baroque palace famed for elegant architecture, arched windows, and beautiful illuminated terraces. The Orangerie now houses museum spaces dedicated to astronomy and physics as well as art exhibitions, enriching the park’s appeal for visitors interested in culture alongside nature. Within the park’s boundaries lies the Marmorbad (Marble Bathhouse), an early 18th-century building originally intended as a royal event space rather than a bath, decorated with delicate stucco work and paintings. Numerous sculptures, pavilions, and the scenic Schwanentempel (Swan Temple) enhance the park’s fairy-tale atmosphere and invite moments of quiet reflection. Visitor Experience and Activities Visitors praise Karlsaue Park for its calm, well-maintained paths that are perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling. The park’s large open spaces, flower gardens, and wooded areas provide diverse environments for family picnics, photography, and relaxation. Several water channels and lakes including the Island of Flowers offer picturesque spots where the natural beauty is accentuated by graceful bridges and colorful blooms, especially during spring and summer. The park integrates modern public art and sculptures along the walking trails, providing an engaging cultural layer that complements the historical backdrop. Visitors often take advantage of audio walking tours available through apps, which explain the park’s botanical diversity and artistic heritage. Karlsaue Park is also a frequent venue for events, including concerts, festivals, and the contemporary art exhibition Documenta, which has periodically used the park as an expansive cultural canvas. This blend of outdoor activity and artistic experience creates a dynamic atmosphere that appeals to nature and art lovers. Accessibility and Amenities Open year-round and free to access, Karlsaue Park is conveniently located close to the Kassel city center with good public transport connections and parking facilities. The park is largely wheelchair accessible with smooth, flat paths, restrooms, and seating areas scattered throughout. Onsite cafés and restaurants near the Orangerie and lakeshore provide cozy places to enjoy refreshments while admiring views of the gardens. Visitor centers provide maps and informative displays, enhancing the experience for tourists unfamiliar with the park’s rich history.

The park is absolutely beautiful, the best place to have long walks or jogging. It's more beautiful during the sunset and sunrise and also the ideal for stargazing.
Anand K — Google review
It’s a massive park, that you can do plenty of things. It’s really good place to read a book or have a good time.
Thilini W — Google review
Beautiful park in Kassel. Take your time to visit, it’s worth it. People normally rush to the Hercules and ignore this beautiful part
My G — Google review
Nice place to walk around. Also good to go with kids.
Harikrishanan V — Google review
A large, maintained green space in the heart of Kassel was a welcome respite from the crowds in the public squares. Enjoy the peaceful trails, water ways, and swimming birds throughout. There are lots of places for picnic lunches and benches for seating.
Daeniilanen E — Google review
What a beautiful park, great for a stroll or just sitting on the grass. There is a restaurant in the orangerie building and a playground close to the water.
Vinicius C — Google review
Only a few banks to sit on, so most of the people sit on the ground, still it's really big and looks great with all the flowers plus the - let's call them a little abnormal - trees in the middle of the park.

The Museum für Sepulkralkultur houses various artifacts and relics from the Middle Ages to present day, showcasing global rituals of death and dying. The museum features a powerful exhibition on suicide and offers student discounts for certain events. The layout is well-designed with beautiful views, providing a quiet and comfortable atmosphere. While English translations are not available throughout the entire museum, it is still an informative destination that sheds light on death rituals around the world.
Great museum / gallery. The suicide exhibition was very powerful. I'll be sure to return for other events. Thank you for the thoughtful display. Beautiful views, nice layout, quiet and comfortable. Discounts available for students for some events so be sure to look into that before going.
Henry M — Google review
I honestly was a bit disappointed in this museum. I think they could do so much more with the topic. Besides a few interesting artifacts, much of it was what you can see in the various cathedrals and other religious sites around Germany. Also, the artifact descriptions were not in English, either (though general signs for each area were). The museum is slated to relocate in the coming years and they are asking for suggestions. I gave some! ;)
TreborMalaya K — Google review
A wonderful place with a very specific yet natural theme: death. Whether Christianity or Islam, many details and stories give you a truly wonderful insight. There's also a library and children's books on the subject. In terms of culture, I would have liked to see more diversity from the distant countries.
Heddi R — Google review
The museum itself is interesting, we went last year for the museum night and there were a few creepy things, interesting though. This year we went for the Dia de los Muertos fest and this chaged completly the enviroment of the place, with colour decorations, mariachis and typical Mexican food, colourfull altares. Trully another vision of this moment to come, more aceptance and to see it woth a different eyes.
Silvina T — Google review
Never expected such a mueseum exist for death and Rituals. Very informative. English Translation exists but not everywhere. Still worth a visit. Special exhibition on suicide Was good too.
Aravind K — Google review
I loved this museum! I visited during Documenta 15, so my impression is colored by the additional temporary exhibits. It's on the smaller side and quite divers in regards to the passing rites and beliefs, super visuals, no grotesque depictions. A highlight is the Café. Don't miss having a cup next to a coffin and hearse. Memento mori , indeed!
Silvy C — Google review
A nice museum with a lot of information about how dead people were- and are, handled through the years and in different areas/religion. A little bit hard to take in but the historic aspect is amazing. One of the positive sides was the staff who were eager to talk about the exhibition. And I recommend Google lens for translation of info. 🙂

Marmorbad, located in Kassel's Karlsaue Park, is a remarkable 18th-century Baroque bathhouse and the last of its kind in Germany. This masterpiece of Late Baroque design features exquisite marble sculptures and colorful wall reliefs created by the French-Italian sculptor Pierre-Etienne Monnot. The interior houses twelve life-sized marble statues and ten wall reliefs depicting scenes from Ovid's Metamorphoses.

(Translated by Google) The *Marmorbad* (Marble Bath) in Kassel is an important building built in the baroque style in Germany and is a historical monument from the 18th century. This impressive structure was built as part of the Wilhelmshöhe Palace in Kassel and was commissioned by Landgrave Karl, who ruled the Hessen-Kassel region of Kassel between 1720 and 1728. Marmorbad takes its name from the abundant marble used in its interior. This place is not actually a bathhouse, it is almost like a "baroque art gallery". The interior decoration is decorated with marble walls, statues and reliefs. These reliefs, featuring figures based on ancient mythology, are the works of sculptor Pierre-Étienne Monnot and reflect the artistic approach of that period. With its historical value and artistic richness, Marmorbad is one of the most eye-catching buildings of Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel and offers its visitors the opportunity to get to know the aesthetic understanding of the baroque period.

The sculptor Monnot's work is phenomenal and of exceptional quality. We were pleased to leave a contribution in the designated collection box upon our departure, but admission is free and the visit was a delight. I highly recommend it. Hercules is a monumental complex located at the highest point of Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, featuring a towering copper statue of the Greek demigod Hercules. The surrounding area offers various dining options and cultural experiences, including street art in the Schillerviertel and remnants of documenta exhibitions. Visitors can also explore Grimmwelt, an enchanting museum dedicated to the Grimm brothers, before enjoying a stroll through vineyard terraces.
Hercules Kassel – A Great Family Spot! A wonderful place to spend the day with family and kids. There’s lots of walking involved, so wear comfy shoes, but the scenery makes it worth it! It’s peaceful and perfect for a relaxing Sunday getaway. Some areas could use a bit of maintenance, but it didn’t take away from the experience. Overall, a beautiful place to enjoy nature and history at your own pace.
Aswarth S — Google review
The Hercules monument in Kassel is absolutely breathtaking and truly one of Germany’s most impressive landmarks. Standing high above the city in the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, the sheer size and presence of the statue and the pyramid it rests on is awe-inspiring. The panoramic views over Kassel and the surrounding hills are worth the trip alone. What makes the experience even more special is the unique water feature system – when the cascades are running, you can watch the water rush down step by step through the entire park, ending in a dramatic fountain. It’s a spectacular show of Baroque engineering that still feels magical today. The walk up can be a bit demanding, but the combination of nature, history, and architecture makes it unforgettable. Whether you come for the view, the history, or simply to enjoy the peaceful park, the Hercules monument is a must-see highlight of Kassel.

Beautiful place...as everyone knows it has 500 steps...that you have to climb slowly because you arrive out of breath...you can have a picnic at the bottom...but I went in the summer and the castle was horrible. And it's under renovation. Don't go inside the castle to go up and down for at least two hours while you walk around. If you have more time, even better. The fountains do not have water like in the videos for these dates and the heat was 33 degrees....

The waterfalls and fountains are operated on Wednesdays and Sundays on the afternoon. It’s a wonderful and quite unique spectacle being a UNESCO cultural site. To follow the path of the 5 stations you have to walk over 2 Km, mainly downhill.

Stunning views! Came the first week of November (so naturally the fountains/water were not running), but got some beautiful autumn colours and some blue sky. There is no fee to wander around the monument. I believe there's a museum there, which costs money. Unclear on if anyone is allowed to climb further up the monument (able to walk around the base at the top of the stairs), but there were locked gates blocking off when I went (around 1500h on a Monday). Helpful hint, I took the bus to the Herkules monument and then walked down through the park. It's a lot of stairs to walk up to the top, but really enjoyable walking downhill.

Very bombastic venue, however it is being repaired and not a nice visit ( as of Nov 2035). I wouldn't pay the €8 to go up, unless you wish a wonderful view only, the the construction is rather hideous really. The cascade is worth a walk up and down. Wear good footwear; 535 steps. You can access the staircase cascade free. Chech the timings as the water is only switched on during the summer months, around 14:30hrs. Still worth a visit.

The Natural History Museum is a former theater that now serves as a museum featuring the Goethe Elephant Skeleton and the Schildbach Wooden Library. Despite its small size, it offers excellent value at 4.50 euros per adult with interactive exhibits on various levels. The first floor is dedicated to live animals while most of the exhibits are in German only, but still enjoyable for non-German speakers. It showcases a great exhibition with interactive displays and has a permanent collection worth checking out.
A very nice and interesting museum! It shows a lot of fascinating aspects about our evolution. There are many models and skeletons

We came here with a toddler and had a great time. Keep your expectations tempered as the museum is on the smaller side, but for the price it can't be beat (during our visit it was an excellent value at 4.50 euros per adult). The museum is made up of a few different levels, with live animals on the first floor. There are a number of interactive exhibits that are fun for kids and adults. Quick note: most of the exhibits are in German only but it's still enjoyable even if you don't speak German.

The Naturkundemuseum in Kassel is an interesting place to visit. The exhibits cover a range of natural history topics, and the building itself is historic and charming! Some sections are a bit small or outdated, but it’s still a decent spot for a casual visit or a quick educational outing!
Eldar B — Google review
There are 2 floors. The history of the earth (fossils, botonics, animals and more) was exhibited in both floors. Most of them are handmade also. I support their words about the museum; "you can get in many elaborately designed habitat staging much information about nature in Northern Hesse." I think that this museum has more regional focus. You should visit.....

Schloss Wilhelmshöhe, Weißensteinflügel is a neoclassical palace located in Kassel, Germany. It was built in the late 18th century for Landgrave William IX of Hesse and served as a summer residence for Kaiser Wilhelm II.
Fantastic place! A neoclassical palace in Kassel, Germany. The palace houses an art gallery with a fine collection of art including works of Rembrandt and Rubens. The palace is situated inside a beautiful landscape park named Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe (which means mountain-park) that has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 2013

The GRIMMWELT Kassel is a spacious museum housed in a stone building that features exhibits highlighting the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. It provides an abundance of information about their life and works, making it an ideal destination for those seeking knowledge on this subject. The presentations are uniquely designed with creativity and cater to children's needs, ensuring family-friendly fun. Outside the museum offers captivating views adding to its charm.
A great place to spend the afternoon with the family. The museum is divided into two main sections: 'Imaginarium' and the 'GRIMMWELT'; the first is a complete interactive tour of wooden games and interesting classical figures. It is highly recommended for a family visit, children will surely love it! On the other hand, the 'GRIMMWELT' amazes with the extensive collection of pieces they have on the life and work of the Grimm brothers. Curious facts, signed letters and photographs take up the first part of the tour, then it ends with an interactive section where it is even possible to ask the classic question: "Mirror, mirror, who is the fairest?". At the end, do not forget to visit the terrace and walk around the museum, because from there it is possible to see the famous Hercules of Kassel, and enjoy a beautiful view or sunset.

Great museum about Grimm brothers. If you’re a fan of fairy tales this is the place to be visited.
Alexandre S — Google review
An enjoyable experience. For the few negative reviews I’ve seen, I would recommend that you do some browsing about the brothers Grimm so you have some idea of what they did besides collect fairy tales before arriving. We enjoyed working our way through the exhibits. I saw a review noting that conversations with a security guard was a highlight. I think we meet him, and that was fun talking to him.
Arthur ( — Google review
Very interesting and knowledgeable exhibitions ( including the special exhibition event). I thought it was going to be about the fairytales of the Brother Grimm. But it was a lot more than that! It was about the development of the German dictionary and much more!
J. — Google review
The permanent displays focused a LOT on the German language and the Grimm Brothers contribution to it. Despite a rather bland topic, the displays were neat, and I appreciate the German language a little more from it! There was also an area for the fairy tales, and a "forest," more geared towards kids. There was a special exhibition when I was there called "Imaginarium" - the extraordinary world of Czech traveling and puppet theatre. This was actually pretty AMAZING! I've never seen things like this in a museum, they were interactive, and it really made me feel like a big, happy kid, turning all the wheels, handles, and levers and seeing what each display did! This could be a very popular museum by itself and I hope it finds a permanent home! In any case, visit Grimmwelt while Imaginarium is there, if you can! Finally, the cafe was EXCELLENT! Lots of kuchen (cakes) to choose from and, quite possibly, the best cappuccino I've ever had! I tried to tell the barista, but I don't think she understood my English. Hopefully, she'll read this!
TreborMalaya K — Google review
Grimmwelt Kassel tells the Grimm story very well — the curators have done a fine job with the exhibits and scholarship. However, the layout and rooms could be made more people-friendly. More interactive elements, child-friendly spaces, and immersive storytelling would make the experience warmer and more engaging for all visitors. Still, a worthwhile visit to understand the Brothers Grimm in depth.

Inside the palace, you can explore a remarkable collection of Dutch, Italian, and Spanish paintings.
A nice castle in a wonderful setting. The park with its other monuments is UNESCO-listed and a must-visit. The castle hosts a nice selection of paintings (Rembrandt, Tizian, Dürer, you name it). Don't simply pass Kassel when traveling in Germany, it's a hidden treasure that not too many know about.

The museum is good enough to enjoy the stories of the Greeks. However, it has no ancient monuments as it contains prototypes for statues, vases and temples. However, It contains some nice art work and it is the only place in Kassel to buy souvenirs as postcards and magnets 🧲 😀. A bit expensive souvenirs, but it's okay..

Wasserspiele im Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe is a must-see attraction in Kassel. The 250-meter water cascade, which operates on specific days from May to October, showcases historical mechanisms used during the time of the Margraves and Electors. The park's main highlight is the 350-meter Grand Cascade leading from the Neptune fountain to the Octagon with Hercules statue at the top.
Absolutely stunning! When we visited the fountain wasn’t working (it was in April) but this absolutely did not diminish our experience. It was still impressive! The complex is quite a way up, so if you would like to avoid a climb and a hike, you can take tram 1 and then a bus to the top, and then walk down :)
Natalia F — Google review
The place is beautiful and high and you can see the area from the castle. It requires a lot of tiring walking and there is no transportation at the end of the place within a short distance. It is recommended to take water and food.
Hassan K — Google review
It was spontaneous visit and exceeded my expectations beautifully place. I recommend to check theirs website before visiting as the water features fully functioning can be seen only on Wednesday and Sunday from 1st of May to 3rd of October.
Radoslaw S — Google review
Probably the most prominent feature of the park and the main attraction to visitors! This 350 meters long water Grand Cascade stretches from the Neptune fountain at the bottom all the way to the Octagon with Hercules statue at the top. It's quite a hike with many stairs to reach the peak, however there are plenty of features, such as fountains, statues and sculptures, on the way to stop and admire. Platforms and observation decks offer nice views of the surroundings as well as of the cascade itself. I had a little bit of an issue with the cleanliness and the maintenance. Unfortunately a lot of cigarette butts, broken glass bottles and plastic trash were omnipresent, taking my focus and joy away. As for a world heritage site I would expect a different level of presentation. This is the place where the water show starts, at 3:30 PM every Wednesday, Sunday and some public holidays. It's a slow process if you are watching this at the Neptune's fountain at the bottom of the cascade. It takes approximately 10 minutes until the water reaches the pond and covers the cave. It gets very crowded here, and I mean CROWDED, therefore I recommend coming early (I secured my place right in front nearly 45 minutes prior to the start). It's quite a unique experience to see this extraordinary water spectacle! The roaring water adds a completely different atmosphere to the whole place! Visited on a Sunday in August 2022.

Must see. I started from the bottom of the hill and it was quite a climb. There was no water on the day otherwise it would have been even better. I went inside the castle and up to the pyramid. It costs 6euro but the ticket is also good for you to go into the museum.

Easily one of the best experiences in my life. If you are to visit Kassel, DO_NOT_MISS_THIS! It is best to follow the water as it goes downstream. The exbition is very professional. But I would love to see for example a more interactive museum. That there is the possibility to actually wear some of the tradional clothings of the area. An interesting museum if you are interested in the cultural history of Hesse. The main exhibits are from the princely collections of the Hessian Landgraves. It contains pieces from the treasures of Wilhelm IV (1567 -1592) like gilded silver objects. - The two rooms that presents objects from the present documenta 15 are not worth visiting. The Aschrottbrunnen, located in front of the town hall of Kassel, Germany, is a unique and often overlooked fountain with a poignant history. Unlike traditional fountains that rise upwards, this one appears flat and is built headfirst into the ground. To truly appreciate its design and significance, visitors must step onto it. Kassel's cityscape differs from others due to the absence of a historic center following its destruction in World War II.
Powerful commemorative "inverted fountain" that pays homage to the original fountain once placed here by a Jewish benefactor. Nearby is a plaque recognizing the deportation of the Sinti and Roma.

Important point to remember what size on Nationalsocializmus in Germany 1939 was. Original fountain built 1908. by Sigmund Ascrott, 12 meter tall and beautiful was 1939. deatroyed to the ground only because of the builder origin. 1987, for a strong message, original one was rebuild - but opposite, burried to the ground and in negative - to remind how wrong and negative all that happened was.

(Translated by Google) A silent memorial with powerful meaning. The Aschrott Fountain lies inconspicuously in front of Kassel City Hall – yet its significance is profound. It commemorates the destruction of the original fountain by the Nazis and today serves as a striking symbol against forgetting. The sunken fountain inspires reflection. Not a place for spectacular selfies – but for quiet moments, remembrance, and respect. Anyone visiting Kassel should pause here for a moment. (Original) Ein stilles Mahnmal mit starker Aussagekraft. (Translated by Google) There was once a fountain at this point, which the entrepreneur Sigmund Aschrott gave to his adopted home of Kassel in 1908. In 1939 this building was torn down for no other reason than that its founder was Jewish. A replica is now in Yad Vashem. In Kassel today you can find a "negative" fountain in the same place, built as part of one of the first documenta exhibitions, in which the water flows together in the middle and falls invisibly into the depths instead of being visibly shot upwards. A visually remarkable reminder and reminder of the loss - including of cultural assets of all kinds - that occurs again and again in human history due to hatred and intolerance.

Unlike when it was first built, it doesn't rise upwards but rather downwards. It's worth taking a closer look. It's worth looking at history. It tells a lot about the city and the wounds that our history has left behind. (Original) Man sieht den Brunnen und sieht ihn wieder nicht. The saunas were not very pleasant, we really wanted to breathe aroma oils and enjoy the atmosphere, but we didn't notice it at all. ( just a small glass room with barely audible music, which shouted all around, with low temperature and without a pleasant smell. ) In the restaurant the check came out to 50 euros, portions are large and hearty, you take away and relate the dishes, the choice is not particularly large. There were very tasty cocktails. The atmosphere in the pool outside - wonderful, beautiful lighting, if in the evening - looks mesmerizing.

great place to relax and soak in warm water, good prices. i would have enjoyed more places for sitting in the water or perhaps even reclining, and a sign that shows there are lockers beyond the labyrinthian changing rooms, not just the eurocoin operated ones at the entry
Cordea R — Google review
A very pretty place to just calm down and relax for a couple of hours, the slide was also cool.
Creeper336 — Google review
You get a token that is used for entry, locking a locker of your choice, and accessing the sauna part if you paid for it. The main section has a big pool that connects to the outdoors, where there is also a cold pool. The upstairs sauna section has a bit more to it with saunas and relax areas. No swimwear is allowed in the saunas (i.e. nude) and you need to bring a towel to sit on. The parking lot was overcrowded so I had to find parking elsewhere but while busy inside, it didn't feel crowded.
Robin L — Google review
Traumwelt = Naked part (requires big towel) We were not informed of this and ended up paying for something we couldn't use. Other than that, the place is very nice and good for relaxing.
Barbara B — Google review
We had a wonderful time there, it is really big, so much to discover (and easy to get lost). Great decoration and atmosphere, maybe a little kitsch but it's part of the charm, especially when night falls. Try to pick a time with less people if you can, is really worth it then.
Nomadist M — Google review
We had a great family day! I would like to compliment the policy to allow children under 12 years of age for free on Mondays (family day) in swimwear in the textile-free sauna and dream world. Vegetarian menu option available. A day ticket including sauna and dream world is value for money. The interior design is dated (decades ago), but that doesn't hinder; it’s clean and recently renovated.

Dönche Nature Reserve, nestled in the city of Kassel, offers a serene escape from urban life. The park features walking paths that wind through pastures and woodlands where visitors can encounter horses, sheep, deer, field rabbits, wild rabbits, roe deer, foxes and buzzards. Despite being lesser-known than Wilhelmshoehe, it's a great spot for biking or leisurely walks with its diverse flora and fauna.
Amazing nature reserve. It's a great place to bike through, or go for long walks. Definitely worth visiting. Surprising that it's not really mentioned anywhere, Wilhelmshoehe definitely takes the scene in all tourist guides and recommendations. Very calm and pleasant, also the view over the city is amazing as well. Overall, a great park to spend your day exploring and hiking.

Bismarckturm Kassel offers an enjoyable walk through the forest, with a great view and benches in front of the tower. Cemetery
Künstler-Nekropole is not your typical cemetery. Situated in the forest near the Blue Lake, this unique site is where artists have secured a place to create their own sculptures during their lifetime, which serve as their gravesites. As you stroll through the woods, you'll encounter these artistic tombstones that convey various expressions and emotions. The city of Kassel has provided Documenta artists with the opportunity to depict their idea of a final resting place in this serene setting.

Auebad Kassel is a versatile aquatic facility that offers both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as saunas, swim lessons, and aqua-fitness classes. The swimming pool has an impressive 10m jump tower in its outdoor area which makes it perfect for summer use. Additionally, the integrated restaurant provides visitors with an excellent dining experience. The spa area is surprisingly diverse, and guests can enjoy free water toys while using the pool facilities.
There are options for both leisure swimming and training. There are enough showers, lockers and changing rooms. The staff is also friendly and can communicate in English.
Thraiye S — Google review
Absolutely great. The outer area is super. Lots of jumping towers, various pools and possible to borrow sun chairs for free!

Long que at the entrance! Beaware that the cell phone reception is very low here. Would would have difficulty connecting to the internet. Beter use the Auebad free wifi. Or have the screenshots of your e-tickets beforehand comeing here. There are mainly two outdoor pool area. One for driving and other one of low depth.

Quite a good and cheap swimming pool. I usually buy the tickets online, in advance. The ambient is quite nice, pools are spacious, clean and of every size. There's a slider as well. Toilets and showers look clean. Definitely a destination when in Kassel, either be it in winter or summer.
Ermir B — Google review
Cool swimming pool. Great to bring your kids (do pets allowed). Indoor pools for all season use, outdoor pools for summer. 10m jump tower in outdoor pool. Integrated restaurant. Usually very clean. Free use of water toys. Spa area is surprisingly diverse.

They have a nice full Olympic swimming pool, which is nice. On the other hand, they are not familiar with the term "closing hours". They say they close at 22:00 during weekdays, but when I went there at 21:10 they said they were closing at 21:30 . If they are already closing at 21:00 then maybe they should write that on the website , and if they are ACTUALLY closing at 22:00 then they should stay open until that time, in order not to confuse and upset people.
Ka G — Google review
Great pools and facilities. Fabulous day out.
Leanne C — Google review
Meanwhile Iam not sure if there is a heating. Perhaps the ambient temperature depents on the number of customers who are present. If so, the best time would be the rush hours and the red bar in the time diagram represents the room temperature. If not, there is always body fat.
