The Musée Provincial Félicien Rops is a museum dedicated to the 19th-century Belgian artist, showcasing his paintings, letters, and sketches. The museum features themed groups of his art, including his time as a caricaturist in Brussels. One of the most famous works on display is the etching 'La Mort Qui Danse' (Dancing Death), depicting a skeleton in women's clothing inspired by Gothic Romantic works.
Fabulous artist, insane to think he dared to paint and draw what he did in the 19th century. The museum itself is really nice, clean, well-lit, and the staff at reception is calm and friendly. Great souvenirs and high-quality prints in the museum shops.

Never heard of this artist until visting Namur. Unexpected, but interesting subject matter. Gallery offered good value. I'm not a serious art fan, more casual/opportunistic, but pleased to add this artist to the list of those I have seen. If you have any interest in art galleries, this is highly recommended.
Richardnoller63 — Google review
A really good museum for art lovers. Great permanent exhibition of works by Felicien Rops. Nicely exhibited with lighting that goes off when there’s no one in the room. The temporary exhibit of work called ‘Hommage a Pan’ was amazing. Beautiful large scale pen and ink drawings. Such detail. Staff very friendly. The appropriate member of staff jumped in to speak English to us.
Paula L — Google review
Felicien Rops is a well known artist for picturing the ladies of the 'houses of ill repute' and a criticaster during his years as a student. But his pendrawings of ordinary people and paintings really shows his talent as well. Due to renovations of the museum of Elsene, part of the impressionist collection can be viewed as well...and even if the permanent collection is nice, this temporary exhibition makes it top.
Bart E — Google review
Very interesting museum with famous arts. It's possible to visit it for free with Pass musées of Belgium.
Nat G — Google review
Lovely museum covering the diversity of the work of Rops, not very large but charming. The painter is well known for his symbolic works and his nudes, but he also produced satirical etchings. Very friendly reception.
Emmanuel G — Google review
The outside of this museum is striking and worth a pass by. The inside houses many sketches and studies for larger works. I found the giant sketch for "British Empire panels" to be very interesting in it's detail and scale.
Jessica M — Google review
Excellent museum of the fin de siècle artist Félicien Rops. I had never heard of him before. Talented and for me surprisingly scandalous for the era.

Located in the heart of Namur, Belgium, Église catholique Saint-Loup is a stunning Catholic church built in the 17th century with magnificent baroque architecture. The interior boasts a beautifully crafted wooden pulpit, a black marble colonnade, and a hand-carved ceiling in white sandstone. This historic church offers guided tours for visitors to explore its ornate design and rich history.
Beautiful renovated church, we liked the massive marble columns, the wooden carved confessions and very interesting ceiling, really nice place with churchian music played, it pays to see...

Beautiful church in the heart of Namur. We could only view the church interior from a small entryway. Maybe later in the day you can go inside?
Brian D — Google review
It is a very beautiful church, especially its columns impressed me very much.
Sîlê — Google review
If you are into old churches and history, you have to add this church in your IT when you are visiting Namur. The pillars inside the church were composed of different colors of marbles. The ceiling is quite more than the usual church ceiling.

If you're hot for Baroque (or even just slightly partial) and are in Namur, then this is the place for you! An amazing space from inside to out with fine examples of Baroque art and architecture plastered everywhere. It was undergoing maintenance when i was here last and I think it may probably still be ongoing. Still didn't spoil the visit.

The Citadelle de Namur is a historic fortress that dates back to the 10th century and has been rebuilt multiple times over the centuries. It dominates the town of Namur, covering an entire hilltop with its ramparts, tunnels, and grey walls. While much of what stands today is from the 19th and 20th centuries, it still retains its compelling medieval charm.
What a tremendous experience. The premises are huge and historically loaded. It’s a real maze, a masterpiece of military architecture bearing the signature of several major military architects like Vauban. The hosted city museum and the 7km long (4 accessible) well preserved tunnels are awesome. Adding a bit of nature, wandering, physical activity and a lot of friendliness, you’ve got a wonderful experience and the need to come back and discover the actual City.
Raphaël D — Google review
Lovely place to go on a day and family trip. The place is enormous. There is plenty of things to do. You could take the telepherique, eat in the top hill restaurant, go hiking, taking photos of Namur from the top, take the touristic train, and more. You can also park in different stages of the citadel and for free.
ALMUDENA S — Google review
Quality family walk here. Views are stunning. We drove to the top to go to the kids play park which is about 10-15 mins away from the Citadelle, so that helped with children and walking up a hill. Worth the visit and the views. Totally recommend it.
Ryan J — Google review
Fantastic walking area in the former fort of Namur city. Entrance to the for and grounds is free, but the museum and underground tours require a fee. It's not really that far to climb, just steep. In return you get wonderful views of the city in the north bank. If you don't fee like climbing, get the Gondola. Tickets are one way or return. One way (up) is fine in my humble opinion.
Chung H — Google review
Interesting. Great view over the city of Namur. We had our lunch on the grass. We did not have enough time to do the paid visits. They need to increase the number of parking spots. It was grossly inadequate and we were in late May. It would also be nice to have more historical exhibit available for free.
Nicolas A — Google review
Very nice place. Can recommend the Totemus game. Fun and interactive way of discovering the citadelle and its history. The panorama has a very nice terrace, overlooking the Namur skyline.
Inge V — Google review
I suggest taking the telepherique (gondola 🚠🚡) on the way up and walk down. There's a large building next to the gondolas with a lot of artwork in it. Some exhibits you have to pay for (the VR headsets for some of the artwork). I wish there was a tour because I had no idea what I was looking at or why the citadel was there. Plenty of places to eat (there's a sort of food court building) below the walking tunnel.
L M — Google review
We bought the full pass online to see the visitor center, the underground galeries and the little train ride. Very complete visit, you leave the citadelle knowing a bit more about Namur and Belgium history. Great tour guide! (Unfortunally I dont recall his name)

The Belfry of Namur, also known as the St. Jacobs Tower, is a historic structure dating back to the 14th century. Originally part of the city's defensive wall, it was repurposed as a belfry in 1746. Despite a fire that destroyed the connected church in the 18th century, this impressive tower has stood the test of time and is now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With téléphérique going up is fun and gives a nice view!

The Sint Jacob's tower is built in the 14th century as part of the city wall. Unfortunately during the 18th century, a fire burnt down the church that was connected to it. After the fire, it became the belfry tower of Namur

Nestled in a picturesque wooded area, Parc Attractif Reine Fabiola is the ultimate family-friendly destination for a day of adventure and fun. This charming leisure park boasts an impressive playground featuring an adventure castle, swings, giant chess pieces, and climbing areas that will keep children entertained for hours. Mini golf enthusiasts can enjoy 18 holes of excitement while trampolines and go-carts add to the thrill.
Visited with friends with kids. Good place for a tourist chill day. You can play all day and then visit the castle. There are lots of activities for the children. It was really good and at a low fee. I think it was €8 for my family of 5. Prices of food and drink are also reasonable. You can also get free parking if you're lucky with the on street parking outside.

Visited on a quiet Saturday. Some birthday parties so some bbq. Opens at 11am, we were a few families ready to go, wishing it would open earlier! Very affordable cafeteria on site. Several playground structures, giant sandy area for toddlers. Lots of extras (trampoline, go karts, mini golf, etc). It had rained in the morning but none of the structures were wiped (wet slides, jumping castles with water, etc) Would not return on a hot day: all in the sun for young kids, no shade on structure.
Allanah — Google review
We have been there two times. Best place to leave the kids to play and parents to relax. The second time we went we had reserved their bbq area. It's very simple to reserve. You just need to see their available dates on the website and mail them with a number of people details based on which they will prepare the number of bbq pits to use.we went with five more families and had a very nice time.
Varunesh T — Google review
Pros: excellent place to relax and have fun for the whole family, free parking in front of the entrance, free toilets available, nice and clean, a bit small but a very funny area full of children's attractions, the entrance fee is a symbolic 3e, but then you have to pay separately for the go-carts, electric cars, and golf, but only small amounts, the restaurant is also cool and relatively cheap, the attractions were nice and clean and attractive, cars, climbing frames, golf, trampolines, carousels, Cons: the big slide was out of duty, not all the staff knew English, Advice: increase the entrance fee and give the attractions for free, you will definitely earn more...

Perfect Day at Parc Attractif Reine Fabiola Our family had a truly wonderful day at Parc Attractif Reine Fabiola in Namur. This venue has found a special place in our hearts and has left us eager to return for more great times. We had the opportunity to book a grill spot for the day and it exceeded our expectations. The grill area was spacious, clean, and equipped with everything we needed to enjoy a barbecue in the beautiful outdoor setting. The aroma of grilled food combined with the stunning natural surroundings of the park provided an incredible ambiance that will be hard to forget. But what stood out even more was the playground. Our children had an absolute blast! The playground is expansive, safe, and most importantly, entertaining. With a variety of fun structures and games, it kept our little ones engaged and smiling all day. The park staff were friendly, attentive, and highly professional. They ensured we had everything we needed and that our day ran smoothly. Parc Attractif Reine Fabiola is more than just a park, it's a complete experience - a perfect blend of relaxation for adults and adventure for children. If you are looking for a day filled with laughter, joy, and mouthwatering barbecue, then this is the place to be! Visited: May 2023
Ziad K — Google review
The only thing missing is a way to buy ride tickets anywhere but the entry, like somewhere central within the park. But that was a minor inconvenience (that could be worse if the park was crowded) for the smiles the park put on my kids after a long drive.
George H — Google review
Cheap entry, loads of things to do for the kids and for the adults the mini-golf and the giant chess board is cool. The kids love it.
B L — Google review
It's a nice place to go with the family. There are nice things to do for both young and older kids, and also for adults. They have mini golf for 2€, barbecue places you can use, cafeteria, and for small kids are enough attractions so they won't get bored. I would recommend to plan a visit there one day before and go inside earlier, so you won't get caught up waiting in a long line at the entrance 😉. Would and will definitely visit this place again. 3€ for adults, and children under 100cm in hight go in for free. For 1€ you can buy tickets for karts, cars, and trampolines.

TreM.a - Musée des Arts anciens is located in the Hotel de Groesbeeck-de Croix, a historic 18th-century mansion in Namur, Belgium. The museum showcases medieval art, religious relics, and Renaissance paintings from the 12th to 16th centuries. It offers a detailed narrative of Namur's history in three languages and houses a significant collection of religious artifacts including wood carvings and 3D display boxes.
Even though most of the exhibits are in Paris due to renovations- you can still see some beautiful pieces from the area - better than seeing the regular shops on the street which you see the same everywhere in Europe
Adrienne F — Google review
a very nice museum full of treasures divided into 3 parts: the first is a temporary exhibition of the book-making in the monastery, specifically songbooks, the second is a treasury with beautiful relics, in the last there are statues and paintings, the museum is dedicated to Christianity, it is very informative, educational, clean, toilets, coat hangers available, English speaking staff, only minimum entrance fee, definitely worth seeing
Marek S — Google review
This museum of ancient art houses amongst others the treasure of Oignies: thanks to a nunnery who kept this treasure of medieval times save during decades, it was only ten years ago that tanks to the King Baudouin Foundation the treasure can be viewed in a splendid way. Most of the artwork comes from a monk called Hugo who was not only a master in copying manuscripts but also as a goldsmith, a jeweler and emailing artist. The museum houses also some fine wooden artwork and paintings of Henry with the Bless.
Bart E — Google review
Definitely one of Namur’s highlights. It was refreshing to visit this place, most of the city looks abandon or poorly maintained, but this museum is the exception. The collection is impressive, it is considered one of the Seven Wonders of Belgium, the Treasure of Oignies consists of 50 pieces of precious metalwork. Dating mainly from the first half of the thirteenth century, the Treasure is famous for its remarkable technical execution and the precious materials used, its cellent state of conservation, and its history. Definitely worth a visit. I went on a weekday one hour before closing and it was empty so I could just take photos and enjoy the place at my own pace. There’s also a garden on the back where you can appreciate the building a bit more and chill or look at some statues. The staff there was really nice and welcoming, the girl at the counter that welcome me to the treasury was really nice and helpful. Audio guide is included, and offered in multiple languages. The price includes, the treasury, the paintings, garden and temporary exhibition.
Lucas K — Google review
Its very cheap but in my opinion it doesnt offer a lot. Its a bit cool to see old statues of jesus and other bible creatures but I feel like there was just not much else.
Darius — Google review
Small but a nice museum. The guy at the reception by the first part of the museum is friendly and speaks also Dutch. The second part where they have the fix collection could be a bit better presented. It feels like due to lack of space that they put all the pieces together like it's Grand Bazaar.
Murat — Google review
Thus museum tells the story of Namur in a very detailled way in 3 languages. There is plenty of information about Namur from the day it came into existence. Also there is a big collection of religious artefact which is interesting to see. Especially the wood carving and the 3d display boxes are rather original to me. No audio guides to but all info is displayed on the wall. The QR codes do not offer more information than what is mentioned on the tags.

Families can enjoy a leisurely day with children's play areas and a charming rose garden.

Nice place for relaxation beside river. Amazing place to get your kids busy in playground. This parc is named after the first queen of Belgium. It has a lake, children's play area, a rose garden and an ancient bridge. The ancient bridge was built by the Dutch in the early part of the 19th century.
Nure S — Google review
I found this place to be a little piece of heaven. It is serene and large with varieties of plants and trees, a lake with ducks and turtles, a very peaceful atmosphere, a playground area for kids. I often see families, people playing ball, but I sometimes also find people who don't look very reassuring. There's sometimes the smell of weed, but it's also everywhere in Namur. I've been warned about it and told it's not safe, with high criminality and reports of assaults, drug dealing, violence and there was even a report about a murder and stabbing incidents (you can search for them on google). Too bad it was ruined for me, I really love this park. 5 stars but minus one for the murder 😔

We just walked around, I hope this small park is good for short relax especially for the kids because of playground... there is a free public toilet at one corner and at the second there is a small fries and fried food take away shop...

Nice park but it needs maintenance. There is a playground and a botanic garden. The botanic garden really needs attention. Plants are dead, dry or dying.
Lucas K — Google review
Small nice park. For a nice break it's ok. The toilet nearby it's broken and some corners smell like toilets because, well... they are used as toilets. It's ok for a visit with the children at the playground but not for a picnic or a walk, or something similar.
Daniel R — Google review
A beautifully landscaped park, quite well-maintained except for the odd bits of garbage thrown by certain uncivilized persons. There is also a children's play zone, where I saw no children. I did see some shady individuals lurking under the old bridge in the park though.

NAM-IP Computer Museum in Namur, Belgium offers a captivating journey through the history of computing. The museum's permanent exhibition 'To the sources of the digital world: machines that count' showcases significant advancements in computing that have shaped today's digital culture. With a unique collection of vintage machines, including rare finds like Bull systems, NAM-IP provides an immersive experience into the evolution of technology.
My wife and I stopped in here while traveling around Belgium. This is like traveling back in time. We saw computers and related items we used 30+ years ago. My wife even saw a ticker-tape or punchcard system she had used when in high school in 1980 (yes, we're that old). This is a great place to visit and see just how much technology has changed. I think kids especially would get a kick out of seeing these old computers and reading that these old computers only used 64K of RAM and 10Mb hard drives (yes, MEGAbytes!). They also have a number of old typewrites too, if that's your thing. We enjoyed talking with Robin as well and hearing some of the background of how the place started and finding out that what you see here is only 10% of what they have. They're having a tough time with funding, so our hope is they can find ways to keep this place going. We suggested reaching out to Tom Hanks to have him buy some typewriters (since he collects them). Ya just never know if he'd help. :)
Team S — Google review
Everything was very good apart from missing English translations, it would be so helpful if everything is in English too. Maybe one day ;) Toilet is very clean, people are very helpful, can't really complain, not the biggest museum, but very informative.
Krzysztof B — Google review
a small museum on the outskirts of the city, a bit covered in dust, in the hall near a couple of containers in a couple of rooms there are old machines, despite everything I felt like I was in paradise there, I remembered the golden times, my heart was beating like the bell, I was transported back 30 years and even sometimes cried... my heart was beating when I looked at this beauty, this museum does not need to be promoted in any way, those of us who grew up with commodore, atari or ibm, we will find our childhood there and never forget the times, parking right in front of the door, the first Sunday of the month is for free, very kind staff, toilets and small souvenir shop available
Marek S — Google review
Great little museum! Brilliant use of shipping containers and liked that they should you how they put it together. Lots of cool machines that I had no idea of what they did. All the information was in French but watch out, there are cards in other languages that give some of the most important info. Enjoyed playing Pac-Man and space invaders! Other computers to have a go with too. Did a bit of basic coding. They have a little cafe, little shop and toilets. Lady on reception helped explain to us how to go around the exhibition in English, which was useful. Thank you.
Paula L — Google review
Nice little museum a bit out of the city centre. Extensive collection of large old computers, typewriters and calculators. Sadly all text accompanying the exhibited pieces is in french. At least english would've been helpful. There's also temporary exhibitions, which this time around it was women in ICT. Worth a visit.
George C — Google review
You might not see much tourists or visitors there. The location & the place was like entering into some remote hidden area 😀. Remember the movie wrong turn ? 😄. But the visit is very much worth for IT geeks to get closer to the computer evolution and spark some nice conversations if you go with friends. Note: The guided tour seem only in French. If you are looking for an English gudied tour there is really nothing other than few pamphlets. Use your smartphone to capture and translate.
Sid — Google review
Really nice collection of vintage computer/IT gear, encompassing early mechanical / electro-mechanical devices, calculators, mainframes, 8-bit micro-computers, as well as some more recent history. Displays were well laid out, with translation cards available if your French is not great. Some hands-on stations available, including vintage video-games. If anyone has (let's say) 'unreconstructed' views about gender in the pioneering of computing, they should take a look at the 'women in computing history' exhibition, which was great to see. We accessed the site via a narrow road (bit nervy for a foreign driver), but there was plenty of free parking. We didn't try this out; but there looked to be a coffee / bar area, as well as a gift shop. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Namur / the vicinity - highly recommended.

This indoor amusement center is especially renowned in the town for providing top-notch entertainment options for children. Moreover, Pirouette also offers its space for hosting memorable birthday parties.
(Translated by Google) We had the opportunity to celebrate our daughter's 6th birthday there. We chose the option that included a cake and a bag of candy for the other children. We were very, very happy with the welcome and the service! The cake was delicious and the children thought it looked lovely, the table was well set, and the air-conditioned dining room was a delight! (Translated by Google) I went there on a Sunday afternoon with my daughter who is just over two years old. Prices depend on the child's height (here 9 euros because she is over 80 cm) and 1 euro per accompanying adult. Given her age, I couldn't do "much" apart from the toddlers' corner for 0/2 year olds because for the other games adults can't go into the play area... Too bad because she's not old enough to go there alone and always needs mommy nearby :p ... Otherwise very good, she had a lot of fun, great family time, top supervision in the toddlers' corner too because quite a few "big" ones came to play there :) Great indoor playground.

In Namur, visitors can encounter the striking sculpture of a man seated on the back of a large bronze turtle, overlooking the River Meuse and the city. Created by artist Jan Fabre as part of an exhibition in 2015, this artwork is located halfway up the stairs to Namur Citadel. Another notable sculpture in Namur is 'Djoseph & Françwès,' which depicts the popular cartoon characters from local newspaper 'Vers l'Avenir.'
Jean Legrand’s cartoon characters, please see the snails, it does represent some slow pace lifestyles in local culture Namur.
Hua T — Google review
These obscure characters were the creation of cartoonist Jean Legrand. I must confess that I didn't know anything about these characters, but they were prominently placed on Place d'Armes, just outside the entrance of La Bourse. The sculpture depicts two individuals who seem to have a snail for a pet. The two seem to be trying to usher the snail into it's cage. Very Amusing.
Chung H — Google review
This interesting sculpture is in Namur's Place d'Armes. It was created by the Belgian artist Suzanne Godard based on the cartoon characters, the inseparable friends Françwès et Djoseph, popularized in the local newspaper "Vers l'Avenir" in the mid 1900's by the painter and caricaturist Jean Legrand. Françwès and Djoseph epitomise the laid-back attitude of the Namur people - les Chwès - whose main concerns are the weather and watching the boats go by. The snail is the proud symbol of the city and the snails in the sculpture are respectively caged and tethered - just in case they should try to do a runner: HA! Note that the larger snail's leash is actually attached to its own shell.
Robin I — Google review
If I have to go by what locals say, the people of Namur as so lazy and so slow, that, Djoseph (Joe) and Françwès (Frank) need to put a leash & cage on their snails, while they negotiate, so it doesn't run away! Well.... You need to visit the city for yourself and find out how fast or slow the people are. I'm not going to comment on that! Haha.
Mitr F — Google review
(Translated by Google) Beautiful bronze statue by the artist Jean Legrand, next to the congress palace (and within sight of the belfry), in the heart of Namur. They are two cartoon characters ‘Djoseph et Francwès’, and personification of the people of Namur. The people of Namur are said to be slow, they have plenty of time. That is why the snails in the foreground are tied up and caged, so that they cannot escape during the conversation between Djoseph and Francwès 😆 (Original) Mooi bronzen standbeeld van de kunstenaar Jean Legrand, naast het congrespaleis (en onder de rook van de belfort), in hartje centrum Namen.

(Translated by Google) Joseph and François are characters created by the cartoonist Jean Legrand for the local newspaper "L'Avenir". They have also appeared in local puppet shows. This duo represents the supposedly slow nature of the inhabitants of Namur, nicknamed "les Chwès". The snails that often accompany these characters (although in this particular sculpture the snail is not the main element) symbolize both the slow pace of life in the city and the culinary specialty of Namur. The sculptures of Joseph and François, created by the artist Suzanne Godard, were installed in 2000 on the Place d'Armes in Namur.

The mansion's exquisite architecture and splendid decorations are complemented by an impressive art exhibition showcased in various rooms. Furthermore, the gardens provide a charming ambiance, accompanied by multilingual brochures. This museum is highly recommended due to its free admission and the unique cultural encounter it offers.
The place has been nicely preserved and the staff showed us the details of the place enthusiastically. Really enjoyed the beautiful and quiet atmosphere here.

The Decorative Arts Museum is a lovely house museum of the home of the Counts of Groesbeeck. The rooms are decorated as it would've looked in the 18th century. The grand drawing room is the most impressive, the Madame's Boudoir the most intimate and the Red Drawing Room the prettiest.
Chung H — Google review
Based on the reviews not everybody enjoys this type of museum...but I certainly did. We were welcomed by the most friendly staff as if we are the only visitors. The rooms are decorated as if we would still be on the 18nd century. It is still all intact from the beautifull wooden flooring, the tapestries, the wall paintings and chandeliers in venetian style. The enclosed garden in French style gives you en excellent view of the museum building. And you finish your visit with an authentic kitchen again as if the cook only just left. The entrance is free just be aware it is closed between 12 and 13h. A must if you like authentic decorated time travels...

Terra Nova is a section of the citadel in Namur, Belgium, which has been occupied since prehistoric times due to its strategic location at the conjunction of Meuse and Sambre. The Terra Nova Visitor Center offers a multimedia journey through the history of Namur, with a collection that includes artifacts from different periods. The center also provides information about the city's military history and features a sound and light show.
Historical place to visit. The tour guide was well informed, she had a passion about history.
Krisztina S — Google review
There's two main things museums here at Terra Nova. One is the museum and the second is an underground tour of the tunnels beneath the citadel. The museum is mainly the history of Namur. Virtually all of the exhibition and description is in French only, although there is an audio guide that includes an English narrator. The breadth of the exhibits is incredible. There's an entire section covering geology, including the formation of the landmass through geologic timescales. Then there's several sections covering the period when modern Namur was part of various European great powers. The last sections are on modern Namur and the future of Namur. My favourite parts of the museum were the fantastic documentary of the Siege of Namur and a scale model of medieval Namur along with narrations of various people who would've lived at the time. I also did the underground tour. The English tour is at 2.30pm, so recommend booking in advance and doing the museum and tour in the afternoon. The tour is pretty entertaining and it's always nice visiting archaeological sites in-situ.
Chung H — Google review
Very interesting place to visit, a lot of History involved in underground tunnels, thanks to the guide. Tour visit, sound and light show presented with video projection, that helped. Beautiful Citadelle with great view from the top of the castle where you can have a nice walk around. The visit was wonderful, i will really recommend it.
Sushil S — Google review
Terra Nova is the place where a few tourist visits start. These are, - the visitor centre showing the history of Namur - the little tourist train taking 20 minutes with an audio description of Citadelle highlights in French, Flemish and English. - the visit to 495 meters of the 4 kms of underground galleries illustrated by animations and projections. There's also a self-service café and tourist shop. All 3 activities are well worth seeing. We went with an English visitor who was amazed by the rich and amazing history of Namur and the Citadelle. We did the English tour of the underground galleries with a really excellent guide that brought the past to life for us. Tickets can be booked on the internet or bought at the visitors' centre.

The museum will soon move to a new location at the heart of the new cultural district of Les Bateliers. It mainly showcases prehistoric and Gallo-Roman artifacts. Visitors praise its well-presented exhibitions and empathetic staff.

There's several video demonstrations of ancient techniques were very enjoyable. At the entrance of Pont des Ardennes, a striking bronze sculpture captures the essence of "Public Art: Stilt Walkers." This artwork honors the fascinating tradition of stilt walking and jousting that dates back to the Middle Ages. Each September, this vibrant heritage comes alive during the Wallonia festival, where visitors can witness thrilling stilt-jousting events held outside the Cathedral. It's a delightful celebration of history and culture that you won't want to miss!

(Translated by Google) Stilt jousting is a 600-year-old tradition in Namur, Belgium, the birthplace of stilts. It is a jousting tournament in which teams of costumed stilt walkers try to knock each other off their feet. The stilt walkers are divided into two teams: the “Melanies,” who compete on yellow and black stilts representing the old city, and the “Avres,” who compete on red and white stilts representing the new city and suburbs. Both teams use stilts for the jousting tournament, a type of stilt developed in Namur. The knight’s goal is to knock down all the knights on the other team. (A player who falls cannot get back on his stilt.) In 2021, UNESCO officially recognized this tradition as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
