Hostel
WeBase is a trendy and uncomplicated hostel in Fukuoka, paying homage to the city's shipping heritage with creative nautical touches. The 164-bed, nine-story accommodation features modern "cabins" for private rooms and contemporary bunk beds equipped with reading lamps and electrical outlets. Its convenient location provides easy access to Fukuoka's top tourist spots, while guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property.
I had a great time staying with them. The public facilities here are wonderful with well-equipped kitchen for anyone who want to cook. The shower room was nice and clean with separated zone for dressing and showering in the booth. Staff there were really friendly and helpful especially Kong and Seunghee. The only con would be the bunk bed room was quite small with little to no space to open the luggage but the bed itself was spacious enough! (They also provide free earplugs which were very helpful for dorm type room and free yukata)

i enjoyed my stay here. the staff were friendly, and the room was comfortable. although it can be a bit tricky to move around after midnight since the room is small and any sound may disturb your roommates. the free breakfast was a nice touch though, with a simple selection of bread, cereal, and fruit juice. the common area had sockets and wifi, which made it perfect for getting some work done. the location is also convenient, just a 5-minute walk from a subway station. overall, i would recommend this place for anyone looking for a budget-friendly stay near hakata station.

I love the concept of having my own pod. It's very cozy. The service was great. I took one star off because they made me pay for a second towel.... come on hahahahaha that's kinda cheap but asides from that everything was perfect. I also had a hard time finding the place but that's because Google map sucks sometimes.
Gabriel B — Google review
We stayed here several times during our travels in Japan and everything was perfect. Definitely a posh hostel as hostels go. Also a little expensive but worth it. The rooms are spotless and there's a roof top lounge area where a complimentary lite breakfast is served. Considering the price of the rooms and the fact you must travel to the second floor to shower I was disappointed there's no butter for toast only margarine which is extremely bad for you. This is where management is being very stingy. Get butter back! Also coffee is the cheapest brand available. Avoid Saturdays as the price doubles. The staff are really nice and go out of their way to help you especially Filipo from Portuguese who has a mountain of information for foreign traveler's not speaking Japanese. A great guy. My main complaint would be charging ¥200 for parking bicycles.....really!!! This is cheap charlie money grabbing and is not necessary considering how expensive WeBase is. We encountered this in only one other place. Nowhere else does that to its customers.
David — Google review
A fantastic place for its location, facilities and cleanliness. It’s also pretty good value—we got a private room with breakfast included. ‘Ship’s Cat’ is a fun art piece welcoming you in and also a handy way to confirm you have arrived at the right place! All the staff were friendly and polite. When I lost my key card, I paid the ¥1000 yen fee at reception—but the key was later found and my money returned. A small but lovely gesture. The lounge on the 9th floor is well kitted out, with a library of books in a variety of languages (mostly Japanese but some English), cooking facilities, utensils and vending machines. Thank you to all the staff at WeBase for having us!
Philip D — Google review
Staff were amazing. Extremely friendly and helped fixed my broken bag. Everything was extremely clean rooms were perfect. The common area was great also have a nice balcony and vending machines.
Milan — Google review
Excellent experience in this hostel. Comfy private rooms, awesome lounge to chill/work and free light breakfast. I tried the mix dorm and it was very noisy due to the big size and configuration (e.g. the washbasins were in the middle). Also, the shower room could be open all the time rather than closing it from 11am to 4pm; and the blanket could be much better.
Claire R — Google review
A very good hostel at a good location. Good amenities close by. We booked a private room which is worth the price as we booked last minute. But if you booked early, probably a hotel would be a better value for the same price.

2Fukuoka Guesthouse HIVE

Guest house
Fukuoka Guesthouse HIVE is a laid-back hostel offering both private rooms and sociable dormitories, featuring a shared kitchen. Conveniently located just a two-minute walk from Gofukumachi Station, it serves as an ideal base for exploring the vibrant city of Fukuoka. The guesthouse provides complimentary WiFi throughout the premises, allowing guests to stay connected.
Can't say enough about how friendly and helpful all of the staff at this hostel were. From restaurant recommendations to sightseeing tips they were top knotch. The bathroom, dorm and common areas were always clean, and the location is in a quiet area conveniently close to the airport train. However, as many other reviews have mentioned, the beds in the dorms are not very quiet or comfortable, far from the worst I've slept in but certainly not luxury. That being said, for the price this hostel is pretty ideal for the budget traveller, and I'd rather have cleanliness, nice service and a good traveller vibe than a comfortable bed when backpacking.
Patrick V — Google review
This hostel was a great experience for me. Basic facilities are all as advertised. The only negative experiences could come from the particular guests there at the time. I liked the fellow guests and enjoyed talking with them. It's a great hostel for foreigners, and I love having air conditioning. The bed is fairly standard for Japan (maybe hard for westerners). The staff I found to be nice. I would definitely stay again.
Aeryn R — Google review
A short 15 minute walk from Hakata station, on a street parallel to the main road, you'll find this little guesthouse squeezed between other narrow buildings. The streets are quiet save for the occasional humming of the coin laundry outside the building during the day. On the wall in the lounge a map of Kyuushuu depicts proverbial as well as literal hotspots (as volcanos have the tendency to be) of the beautiful island. Beyond the enchanting map are the mixed dormitories, with to the side stairs leading to japanese style private rooms upstairs. Once you have soaked enough in quiet of the side streets, a 20 minute walk will take you to the bustling city centre of Fukuoka, where the possibilities are left to your Imagination.
Thagoldensun — Google review
The staff is kind and speaks English well. The position in the city is also great, near a beautiful shrine and close to the Fukuoka station + shops/restaurants. The downside is the dormitory. We are all very close to each other thus, impossible to not be disturbed by noises early in the morning or late in the evening. As tourists are here to visit, some of them will wake up at 5 A.M. when others will arrive at 12 P.M., short window to sleep well. Also, beds could be cleaner as we found crumbs around them and spider webs in the bathroom. If you are a deep sleeper, if you want to wake up early and sleep late, or if you are not bothered by the above: this place is great in terms of position and staff/services!
Dylan M — Google review
We are a family of 3 , we were give a private room. The room is spacious, clean, toilet and shower were just outside. Its a short bus ride to Hakata Station Lots of restaurants in the vicinity. There's a Lawson just round the corner for essentials. You have to pay to rent towels, best to bring your own. The place is relatively quiet for a guesthouse.
Anisah 思 — Google review
This is the worst youth hostel I have ever stayed in Japan. The boys' dormitory is next to the social hall on the first floor, and there were still Koreans making noises until 02:00 AM. People walking on the second floor will also affect the first floor. My friends and I were constantly woken up all night, and we couldn't sleep all night even with earplugs. A large number of Koreans checked in that night. They turned on the lights, took a shower, dried their hair, kept opening and closing the door to get in and out of bed in the middle of the night, and even entered the room smelling of cigarette smoke. It's a nightmare. Due to the poor sound insulation, I don't recommend travelers to come here. The counter staff is also Korean and very friendly, which is the only thing worthy of praise.
H. T — Google review
Reasonably priced and good service. Had somewhat slow and inconsistent WiFi but had a kitchen, blankets and shower baked into the price. Not bad. Checkout is only at 11 though, which is rough Edit after reply: 11am is fine for most people, I was the nutcase with the bike that left at 8AM lol. I got to Singapore safely with 1200km cycled in Japan
Ironboy32 — Google review
I stayed in the female dorm and it was crowded. I had to be careful and not bump my head on the ladder every time I got out of bed. The layout was odd. The shower was attached to the room, the toilet was across the hall and the sinks were in the room. So you washed your hands and brushed your teeth right next to someone who was sleeping. Besides all of that, the staff was very kind and helpful.

Youth hostel
Hostel TOKI is a modern, low-key hostel that provides comfortable timber bunks with power points, reading lights and shelves for storage. Guests can enjoy activities such as Japanese tea ceremonies, Shodo calligraphy and origami lessons with the help of the English-speaking staff.
The beds are comfortable. I was in the 8-person dorm room. Each bed had a full privacy curtain, an outlet, a light, a small safe, two hooks, and two hangers. One down note is there really wasn't anywhere to hang your towel. There was plenty of space under the bed for backpacks and suitcases. The staff is very nice and will try hard to answer your questions! The common area is good for meeting new travelers and there is always coffee (instant) available.
Mathew Y — Google review
Amazing host, very welcoming, kind and gentle and super helpful! The hostel has an incredibly relaxing vibe, it's cozy, warm and clean. All-around a great bang for your buck.
Jeremy C — Google review
Hostel Toki is a great place to stay in Fukuoka. It is located in a great area and close to many bus stops. The employees there are very kind. I accidentally left an article of clothing there and they mailed it to me at my next accommodation. The beds are very comfy and the women’s dorm was very nice. If I am in Fukuoka again I will definitely stay here!
Hannah J — Google review
Location is a mission to get to. Too far from the stations. The room was awful. Smelly and extremely mouldy. No cover on duvet, which is yucky. People checked in after me, and the woman above made so much noise. Kept shuffling and tapping on bed, and messing with bags. A real nuisance. This is not a hotel/guesthouse/hostel, but someone's 2 bed equivalent, which is made into accommodation. Really pokey room, and tiny shower I really did not like the stay here. I prefer the capsule hotels. For the same money as here one can have a proper pod. My bed had curtains which did not close, but just dangled open with large gaps. See the photos for the heavily mouldy walls right next to my bed. I had to keep my body and arms far away. Very bad to sleep in conditions like this. Not at all healthy. Chairs in reception are stained and filthy. I put my papers on the seat prior to sitting. Can hear people on the toilet from reception area. This morning could also smell the guy as well as hear during and after his toilet. Two guys coughing heavily spreading germs today. I was going to leave bags and collect about noon. But yesterday the guy sounded not too keen about me collecting bags at noon. When he asked what time I would collect bags and I said about 12 noon, there was an awfully long pause of hesitance. Anyways, will take them with me now. The comment of reply is a lie. I never complained about Japan. I simply said I did not like Hakata. And, it was all mould. The photos show mould. It's no lie.
Pied P — Google review
We only stayed there for 1 night but very good access to places walking distance
Daniel S — Google review
I enjoyed my stay here, it's a very small hostel, but they really put effort into the small things and that makes the stay better. Most importantly, the bed is comfortable and the place is spotless clean. The common area is nice and the staff very friendly. It might be a bit of a wait for the showers, since there are only two. Location is a bit uncomfortable, it's about 1km from the next train station (Hakata). I'm sure there are would be a bus, but that's difficult to figure out. But I would stay again.
Hogi B — Google review
Stayed here for my duration in Hakata, Fukuoka. Room was comfortable and the bunk has conveniences in there like hangers, plug points, light, tiny mirror, safe deposit box etc. Shared toilet and bathroom which are kept clean. Used the washing machine (which is also a dryer) for ¥300. Had a bit too much clothes which didn't dry properly and I was allowed to use it again with dryer only function at no extra charge. Really appreciate this. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I had left my luggage in the morning before the 4pm check in. During check in, the staff even helped me to carry my large luggage to the room for me. Coffee, tea and hot water available at common area. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner also provided. Note that towels are not provided free so either bring your own or top up for towel.
Ling Y — Google review
Wonderful little hostel in Fukuoka! The staff are all very nice and very helpful and it creates a great atmosphere. It's a bit of a hike from Hakata Station (~18 min walk) but there's a lot of amenities nearby. I would stay here again if I were in Fukuoka!

Nestled in the vibrant Hakata Ward, Common de Hostel & Bar is a contemporary haven for travelers looking to blend comfort with social interaction. Just a short distance from Fukuoka Airport, this hostel features stylish dormitories and private rooms equipped with modern amenities like WiFi and kettles. The highlight of your stay will undoubtedly be Koei Giku, the cozy on-site bar located on the fifth floor, where you can unwind with refreshing drinks while mingling with fellow guests.
Two guys and one girl working at bar were really friendly and cute. They have all amenity towel, earplugs, shampoo, body etc it would be good choice for sure if you stay near center of city for couples days

Common de hostel is a great spot! Pretty affordable, nice staff, and great drinks at the bar! It’s close enough to some cool spots. The beds are cozy as well! Though I stayed in the women’s dormitory on a top bunk and the way the ladder was situated was a little wonky, it made it a bit awkward to get up and down when I needed to. But other than that quirk I really enjoyed my stay! Thank you :)
Hannah A — Google review
I had a lovely stay at this place! It's just a quick 10-minute stroll to the subway and bus stops, making it super convenient to get around. Plus, there are plenty of little kombini shops nearby where you can grab snacks and meals. The staff here are friendly and speak English, which makes everything feel welcoming. The bar and lounge area is a great spot to relax, have some drinks, and meet new people if that's your thing. The beds are comfy, perfect for catching some Zs after a long day of exploring. They even have a bedtime routine where they turn off the lights, which is great for ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep—everyone is informed about it before checking in. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to unwind!
Itlog — Google review
One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at -- very clean, staff is kind and friendly, nice study/work area, extensive book collection, and toiletries and laundry available. Quiet area close to the main subway line for tourists. Everything is of course basic but it's done well.
Andres L — Google review
Can NOT recommend. If you wait to check in for long time or ask for anything else you paid for, you only get ”oh sorry”. But if you miss the check out for some tens of minutes they will charge you extra. Also some other additional charges that are not covered in the booking. Wifi does not work at all, you need to buy own data. No kitchen/anything if you want eat own food
Antti A — Google review
You get what you pay for keep that in mind. Pros -Comfy bed -Reasonable location -quiet -Staff are friendly Cons -Bad sheets -little hot -don’t turn the lights off until 11:30 -bad wifi. The other thing I will mention is that Fukuoka has a accommodation tax, not sure if the hostel could just work this into the fee so your not getting surprised by that in the moment but just keep it in mind.
Harry L — Google review
The staff was warm, helpful, and accommodating. However, it very was difficult to sleep. The walls were very thin so you hear noise from above, below, and beside your room. And beds were dirty. We had allergies from dust from the bed every night.
Benjamin A — Google review
Stayed for a few nights. Staff are prompt and excellent in service. Overall it’s clean. This is one of the most basic hostels I have stayed in Japan. What I have to say below are of no fault of staff but the management. The building requires maintenance. Hairdryer and toilet ventilators are dirty. Doors of the main and bathroom doors need to be changed because guests closed them loudly at night. Do remind guests to be quiet after 10pm.

Embark on a unique and cozy maritime adventure at Fukuoka Guesthouse SHIP. This nautical-themed hostel offers beautifully designed rooms inspired by seafaring tales, providing a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration in Fukuoka. The friendly staff and lively atmosphere create an inviting environment for guests to connect and enjoy their stay. Conveniently located near Kuremonocho subway station, it offers great value for private accommodations during the Golden Week period.
One night stay as leaving on ferry to busan next day. Absolutely lovely friendly staff. Quiet and relaxing environment to be 100% recommend for solo travelers. 👍😁

Very nice hostel! There aren't many of us, so it creates a warmer atmosphere. I found the beds quite comfortable, contrary to what some of the comments might say. The location is great too, I managed to do everything I wanted on foot and the staff are very friendly. The only downside is that the showers are poorly insulated. I was there in winter, so when I got out of the shower I was a bit cold.
Hadrien B — Google review
Boy, this place really made me realize how old and boomer I’ve become. Aside from being mildly overpriced, the building itself is noisy and shaky as fudge, while fellow guests seem incapable of grasping the simple "quiet after 10 p.m." rule. People are stomping all over the tatami mats like an AT-AT, microwaving food, coming in and out of the room 437 times in 20 minutes, fiddling with zippers and plastic bags at 3 a.m., doing laundry, taking calls, doing nothing to minimize the noise of their activities, rendering sleep before midnight a distant dream. Earplugs didn’t help much either, which is not surprising when there’s a microwave humming away just beyond a paper-thin wall. No staff seems to be on-site at night to enforce rules either. The fridge should be slightly bigger as well and I don't mean I wanted to storage Costco-sized stuff. The mixed dorm alone has eight beds and with the female dorm I’d guess there can be ten-plus guests total, yet, the fridge is a minibar-sized cube that was practically full after I put in three oranges. To be fair, the building’s traditional wooden design might feel authentic and cool to younger, first-time visitors to Japan, but if you value peace and quiet — at least at night — your stay here could easily turn into a struggle. On the good side, the hostel had great WiFi, was relatively clean, offers free laundry, but because of the fundamental flaws of the building, I can not really recommend it.
György A — Google review
I spent a few days in Fukuoka Guesthouse Ship and loved it. This is a tiny place in an old traditional house. Don’t expect a lot of space to move around or super fancy equipment (although it is more than fancy enough, it’s Japan y’know? 😅). Instead, come here for the MOOD! I finally felt like I was in a real hostel, not in some kind of cheap dorm where nobody talks to each other. The staff is great and super helpful (and speaks perfect English), the guests are fun to hangout with and you’ll probably leave with new (mostly Korean 🤣) friends! Oh and did I mention the rice straw smell of the tatamis in the dorm? 🥰
Julien F — Google review
Nice and clean place but loud and hefty overpriced. Guests dont care about house rules, very loud at midnight and in the morning.
Harry K — Google review
Horrible employee/owner EDIT: Owner here says he doesnt work there but this is not true as i hear from staff he works there and they also had to walk around their toes around this individiual. Sorry if saying somebody is bold is a bad thing but he had very little hair then i hope that is better to say. I wanted to drop off my luggage at 1045 before I went to explore the city. A guy came out so I took that door and went in. No staff. I waited patiently for someone. A bald man snapped his fingers near my ear like I was a dog and then pointed at my socks that I had to wear sandals. My apologies but I will not be treated like a dog before I could do something another guest stepped in and calmed the situation down. The bald man kept sighing dramatically and saying negative things in a low tone. He looked at me like he wanted to fight me, a horrible man. I almost wanted to give him what he wanted but luckily I could control myself. I left my stuff and when I came back later there was a nice young man Harv who helped me a lot. He told me that I could get back into the hostel in the evening with a code. Perfect I thought. I went drinking and eating in the city and got home just after midnight. I wanted to enter the code but there was no way. The machine didn't seem to work So I knocked quietly on the window. My "good" friend the bald man opened the door and pointed aggressively at his watch. Am I too late? Am I not allowed to come home when I want? What is this a children's school? I didn't say anything so as not to bother the other guests and went to bed. In the morning I was woken up at 0600 by the first other guest checking out and that repeated itself every hour. This hostel is nice but way too small for the amount of people there. It is absolutely not recommended. I also advise the bald man to find another job, nobody wants a grumpy and aggressive man as the face of a hostel. Respect for the other young guys their having to put up with that little man

Great choice if you're planning to take the ferry to Korea or arrive in Japan from this ferry. Lovely interior, very warm welcome to Japan by the staff.

Average experience since false advertisement at HostelWorld. I arrived at 8:15am to drop my luggage after my night bus ride (in the description was written, that there is sb at the Rezeption from 8am and that it’s possible to drop it from 8am till check in). However when I arrived nobody was there, instead just a sign „Rezeption open from 11am - luggage drop from 11am. I didn’t expect that since I relied on the information given on HostelWorld. So I wasted my time reorganising my day and I got completely drained. The other thing is, that there was clearly written 9: breakfast included (so technically I paid not just for the bed but also for a breakfast). When I asked about the breakfast starts the staff was shocked that there shall be one. They said they will tell the owner that there is this misinformation, but didn’t do anything else (owner wasn’t there). I paid for it - otherwise it’s false advertisement. Didn’t even get a refund. And I choose this hostel since I had a flight early the next day so I hoped I can save some time having my breakfast there and not having to search for a convini or bakery instead. Besides that staff was great and we had a great time! The hostel layout is a bit narrow so I had to pack may bag for my flight in the common space (which was still tricky since I had to stop every time ab wanted to pass through).

Clean rooms and very pleasant owners. I only have good things to say. My trip to Itoshima was the highlight of my Fukuoka vacation. Thanks to thus guesthouse and its owners. They do offer a tour. Ny family took the tour. It's very personal.

We availed of the bike rental service by sending message via LINE app. Very good value. The bikes were well maintained --- smooth shifting and brakes were pretty new. Down side is one of the saddles was for road bike. Overall good experience renting a bike with explanation on suggested routes around Itoshima facilitated by Nogi-san. 100% will rent a bike from them again.

(Translated by Google) Thank you for staying with us for 2 nights. The owner and his wife were very nice people and kindly taught me a lot of things, which was very helpful. The walls of the room were made of hemp charcoal plaster, making it very comfortable. Although the building is not new, the rooms are all clean and comfortable. The tableware and other supplies were all carefully made and looked great. Although I was traveling with my elderly mother, I had a really good time as I felt like I was at home. thank you very much. Thank you for letting us have a wonderful time! (Translated by Google) Thank you for staying with me for one night. It was a wonderful stay for just one night. If you're alone, it's perfect for multiple nights or a workday. It was a space where you could feel like you were living there. Excellent access from Chikuzen-Maebaru Station along the road. Cross the traffic light in front of the station and go up the stairs of the building to the top. The host, Nogi, was waiting for us when we arrived and showed us around the room. It has a living room, a guest room, and a private room (work room with desk), so it seems to be suitable for multiple people staying. Each of the provided amenities had a pop of "MADE IN" on them (especially those from Itoshima and Fukuoka), and it was fun to use them. The living room can also be used for cooking. It is equipped with beautiful ceramic tableware made by Itoshima artists. Convenience store food when you get back to your room during a trip tends to be bland, but since you can eat on a ceramic plate in your room, it's quite nice to drink just one glass of water. What impressed me most was the hemp charcoal plaster on the walls of the room. When I arrived, I was told, ``You can breathe deeply,'' and I thought that I could certainly breathe deeply, but to my surprise, I was able to fall into a very deep sleep. I don't sleep well and always wake up both when traveling and at home, but I slept soundly until morning. My host, Mr. Nogi, who attended to me, told me about recommended places in Itoshima and people I should meet, so I had a very fulfilling stay. This time I used it as a base for reporting in Itoshima, but since it takes 35 minutes from Chikuzen-Maebaru Station to Tenjin Station, 45 minutes to Hakata, and 50 minutes to Fukuoka Airport, and the first train runs from 5:00 am to the last train until 11:00 pm, I think it is a good place to stay even if you work in the center of Fukuoka city. I would like to use this place for a leisurely workday with a friend next time. Thank you very much.

(Translated by Google) The station is right next to it, and there are supermarkets and convenience stores nearby. The room is made of hemp charcoal plaster and is easy to breathe. I had a quiet and relaxing time. The water used was plain granulated water, the detergent was gentle, and the plates were made by the artist, so everything was very comfortable. I also enjoyed the books they had. When I go to Itoshima again, I would like to stay here again. Thank you very much (♡˙︶˙♡) (Original)

(Translated by Google) I wish the owner had been someone else. He's a typical male chauvinist. His own ideas of what's right and what's right are so rigid that he judges people without really looking at them, and he only does things that satisfy him (although self-esteem and the desire for approval are good things). The more we talked, the more uncomfortable I felt, but I couldn't read the atmosphere and continued to stay... He didn't listen to what people were saying. I think the discomfort wasn't due to the room, but rather to the way he interacted with people as the owner. After my experience, even if I come to Itoshima, I strongly do not recommend this guesthouse. Nestled in the vibrant Nakasu district, Fukuoka Hana Hostel is a delightful haven for travelers seeking comfort and convenience. Opened in March 2013, this lively hostel is just a short stroll from the bustling Canal City shopping mall and offers easy access to public transport with Nakasu-kawabata Subway Station only five minutes away. Guests can choose between cozy dormitories or private rooms, all designed to ensure a pleasant stay.
Outstanding location in the heart of Hakata District (a 20 minute brisk-paced walk from the Hakata Train and Bus Stations). The staff are very friendly and efficient. The facility is well kept. I highly recommend this accommodation.

If you’re very sensitive to smoke, you might want to avoid this place. There’s a tobacco shop next door, and people smoke right outside the front door, which often makes the kitchen and eating area smell like smoke. As a non-smoker, I found this bothersome. The showers were decent, and there were sinks right outside the women’s dorm. The dorm uses a key lock, but unfortunately, the other guests I was staying with often forgot to lock the door, which made me feel a little uncomfortable since there was only a small lockbox for valuables in the bed area. The bed itself was decently comfortable, but I didn’t like that there was only a sheet between me and the comforter—I much prefer hostels that use a full comforter cover. While the dorm and bathroom were clean, the kitchen area was not cleaned as often. A ball of hair sat on the floor the entire time I was there, and I’m not sure how it wasn’t picked up. I also wish there had been a spray bottle or wipes so people could clean their own tables after eating, but I didn’t see any. The location was great—very close to Canal City for shopping and food, as well as Kushida Shrine and Kushida Shrine Station. It’s also in a shopping street, which made it a little hard to find at first but convenient for grabbing food or a snack. If the smoking, sheets, and kitchen aren’t deal breakers for you, it’s a decent place to stay, but personally, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Amazing hostel. The location is unbeatable, right inside an amazing market full of restaurants and shops yet very quiet and cosy. The hostel is clean and quiet and the staff are very friendly. The beds and pillows are super comfortable and the common areas are fantastic. I would stay there again if I came back to Fukuoka :)

It's one of the best hotels for international backpackers in Fukuoka. There's a communal feeling in the lounge area, especially among western tourists, and it feels easy for people to talk and share a We-feeling among themselves. The female staff member is talkative, friendly and eager to converse in English, the guests are quick to warm up to each other too. Of course the room was quiet and the bed was clean. And there's no noise in the room despite the proximity being close to the city center.

I recently got to stay here while visiting Fukuoka. It was an absolute delight. The staff are super friendly and helpful. It’s located near two subway stations, making it really easy to get around. There lots of great restaurants and bar’s nearby as well. The night staff Yas is a superb drinking buddy if you are looking for someone to chat with.

The hostel was charming, and the staff were relatively friendly. Personally, I felt that the atmosphere wasn’t conducive for solo travellers to connect. The location also was overwhelming for me personally - it was dead centre in an “outdoor” mall, so as soon as you left there were people crawling all over. It also made me feel a bit less safe. Thankfully, every room does come with a pretty spacious locked area. It’s not a bad value, I’ve just had better experiences for cheaper.
Zaena — Google review
The location is just splendid, close to three subway stations (and two subway lines). Italso close to MaxValue Supermarket and other various shopping complex. The staff here are very courteous and friendly. Luggage storage is a breeze. I was able to hang around in the comfortable lobby while waiting to go to the airport. I also LOVE the shower rooms where they provided a rack with containers for you to put your things in. I also love the female dorm room, I had plenty of space to put my things, including a large suitcase.

Stand by Me is a great place to stay if you're looking for a comfortable and affordable place to sleep. It's located in a great spot, just a few blocks from the metro station, and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. The beds are especially comfortable - even for tall people! Plus, there's a great izakaya downstairs where you can enjoy drinks and eats.
I booked last minute and I was worried because of a lot of bad reviews. But honestly this place was great. I suppose some people expect more than what they are paying for? It’s an unmanned facility. But I think they are pretty transparent about that when booking. The instructions came by line once I prompted them to send instructions, so you may need to do that. But they were responsive and the instructions are easy to follow. There are signs all over the place explaining various things. For a low price, I thought the place was pretty clean. Obviously if you are not paying much money then they can’t hire many staff to clean the place as thoroughly as a big hotel. I had no problem at all with noise, the loudest thing in the place was me unzipperring my backpack in the luggage alcove in the bed space. Obviously if you are unlucky and have some loud neighbours it would (like all hostels) suck. For me it was great. I just needed a place to crash for one night by myself. This was perfect, and the dorm room was ¥6,500 on a Saturday night when every hotel in central Fukuoka was charging at least ¥40,000 a night.

Such a bad place, no checkin counter. Staff will ignore you even you wondering how to check in and stepping back and forth. Tell him didn’t got any email he won’t help you instead keep doing his thing just like it’s not his business. Also he has a broken English can’t not communicate at all. I booked an individual room but he gave me a mixed room. Apparently, he doesn’t know his job, he better not running a hotel, it’s a worst nightmare ever!!!! Don’t come!!!!

I will start from the good things : 1. I think it’s good location , it’s a little bit far from the noisy night life but you can walk 18 min . 2. The beds comfortable, and I slept well and there is social vibe a little bit . The problematic things : Check in from 19:00 I think it’s too late and early checkout 10am . * there is no service here , self check in so it’s not really hostel it’s place to sleep , the team behaviour was weird , I’m not recommending this place for single women , boys looking for cheap , place to sleep it’s good option .

Don't ever go to this hostel. This is the worst hostel I've ever experienced. The only (man)staff has an attitude and was very rude and doesn't want to help out the foreign guests in the hostel. He is only helpful to Japanese guests even though 90% of guests were from all over the world. He discriminated against foreign guests. And the room stinks, the bed wasn't clean. There were bedbugs everywhere.
Mike K — Google review
Unlike an ordinary Japanese hostel, it's not clean & very messy... you can not check in before 7 pm. During 2 days I were here, the hostel seemed to be overcrowed, fully booked but had only one cleaner staff, may these things lead to a such poor service? One more negative point: there are only few toilets so if you're at 3rd floor you might to go down to 1st floor to use toilets or shower rooms. I'll never recommend this hostel to anyone!

Well..location is not bad. Rooms are OK nothing special. A little bit ran down facilities. The staff is rude and don't speak any English. I was using my own charger and adapter and the staff started shouting at me where is the green charger which was plugged in. Even made kicking moves to my charger and ipad I was charging. Then he went to check and found it. Such a rude and unprofessional behaviour.

+staircase of bunk beds r easy to climb up +affordable -it is said on their booking confirmation email they will send pdf on steps to enter the unmanned hostel the night before but on the day of my stay there was no email at all. i had to go through the trouble to download line on my crappy wifi in order to contact them. -i saw a cockroach on the staircase to level 3, ruined my appetite to eat -i saw a spider next to my bed too -there was a loud snorer in my bunk

This was the cheapest place I stayed in all of Japan, and for the money I was happy with it. Had some hitches with the booking because Agoda don't let you see the information properly, but people who worked in the cafe downstairs let me in. Once I managed to get in touch with the person responsible, it was sorted out. 7pm is of course a late check-in but if you're happy to drop your bag and explore, it's a decent place to stay, even if the atmosphere is a bit lacking.

Kia Ora Budget Stay is a functional hostel in Fukuoka, offering understated dorms and private rooms at a friendly price point. It's known for being one of the cheapest budget hostels in the area and provides a more traditional hostel experience. The staff is friendly, and the beds are comfortable, especially in the mixed dorm. Guests can enjoy a fully stocked kitchen to cook in and complimentary breakfast served from 8 am to 11 am.
One of my favourite hostels in japan. The staff are so friendly and the beds were comfortable (I was in the mixed dorm). There is a fully stocked kitchen to cook in, and they serve breakfast (toast/etc) from 8am-11am which is a long time for those who need a lie-in! It’s very conveniently located under 10mins walk from Hakata Station. Hostel is very well laid out with a dining table in the kitchen as well as a separate common room with some tatami floor and tables and armchairs. They also have kimono rentals and an origami station which is a nice touch!

Great place! Very comfortable beds and good pillows. Water pressure was excellent. They accommodated our late arrival and were very understanding. Only downsides were the noise from the street and how hot the bed cubby got at night despite air conditioners being in the room. Great place! Would stay again.

Absolutely loves the place; its fairly close to station (like a ten minute walk) and the staff was ridiculously friendly and outgoing. They initiated conversation and even bought me ice cream, hah. But regardless, extremely nice people! And the rooms are capsule like, but roomy, with a safe and ledge in each one. Also, very clean with an elevator so no need to worry about breaking your back! 10/10 would recommend, would definitely stay again.

The hostel is located near Hakata Station and about a 15 minutes walk from Canal City. The bed was comfortable and the facilities were clean and functional. The hostel was quite calm, but that's expected for this time of the year. The common space is quite enjoyable! Thank you for the stay.

Hostel
Fukuoka Backpackers Hostel is a simple adults-only accommodation with no-frills dorms and rooms. It offers a kitchen, rooftop terrace, and an easy-going atmosphere. While the place may be basic, it exudes an authentic Japanese vibe that appeals to backpackers seeking genuine experiences. The hostel's staff is friendly and speaks perfect English, creating a welcoming environment for guests. However, the thin walls can result in noise disturbances from other guests.
Had a great time staying in this cozy hostel. They have amazing, friendly and helpful staff. When i get to the hostel I was at 10 am before their check-in time they let me leaved my bag and they make sure that my things are secured and be moved at my designated room when they are done cleaning. The front desk clearly explain the rules and regulation of the hostel; this hostel is very strict of no smoking policy. In addition to their great hospitality, they help us navigate and suggests places which truly shines the city. I also attended one of the free tour that they offer the " Asahi Brewery" a tour that takes less than 27min. They also offer a 20%off discount ticket to the Fukuoka Tower. If you want to experience an amazing stay with an affordable price this place will be perfect for you.

You get exactly what you pay for at this hostel: two beds, a shared bathroom (meaning shared toilet with the floor, and shared showers with the whole building), and WiFi. Really, that's about it. But it was perfect for us because that's all that we needed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They emailed us a few days before we got there giving us useful directions and instructions, and then have very clear explanations when we got to the hostel. It's also only a 15 minute walk from the subway station (one stop away from the airport) and a 15 minute walk from the JR station. The only thing you should know is that you have to pay 50 yen for towels if you don't have your own.

Great to stay one night, was with my mother. Make sure to bring your own amenities when you go. Room is perfect size for a place where you obly sleep. Staff spoke perfect english and was very friendly. Other people there were very friendly as well. However, beware. The walls are very thin and if one of the people on the floor is speaking slightly loud you will hear it. A bit complicated to find but close to the terminal and Canal City. Common area on the 3rd floor.
Coleen G — Google review
A place to sleep, but probably for no more than a night. The beds and facilities are spartan, and there isn't much around in the neighbourhood to sightsee. It's about 15 minutes on foot from Hakata Station, but a bus also runs very close by. Staff are friendly but it is not a social hostel.
Adrienne M — Google review
Great staff and location. About a 10 minute walk to the Hakata station which gets you to Tenjin for 200jpy. Check out Isso ramen (voted best ramen in Fukuoka) for 600jpy. I booked my bed in a four person dorm for 2500jpy which is a good price for Fukuoka. Free tea and instant coffee 24/7 and the kitchen and common room don't close. The wifi is free, unlimited, fast (10+ Mbps) and reliable.
Jeremy S — Google review
Relatively nice hostel somewhat spoiled by the constant noise coming from what we assume was some sort of cooling tower right outside our room. Otherwise a clean and centrally located hostel.
Suzana B — Google review
It's clean enough and the staff are very helpful but when you have 2 A4 pieces of paper to read with rules on you sort of get the feeling you're treading on egg shells a bit. Okay place.

Nekokura Hostel is a popular budget accommodation located in the bustling Hakata district of Fukuoka. The hostel features an on-site cat shelter, making it an ideal place to stay if you're interested in helping rescue cats in Fukuoka. The hostel also offers free WiFi throughout the property, and a bar is available on site for your entertainment needs.
Excellent small hostel. Cute concept with the cat shelter, wished we could’ve met them! Only 5 private rooms and a small shared common kitchen space. Very secure using codes for the exterior door and rooms. Self-check in required so ensure you communicate with the hostel via your booking site. We sent passport photos and were given our access code around 2:30pm. Free laundry is a bonus! We loved staying here, it felt like a cosy home. It was quiet so we didn’t have any issues but do note there is only a single shower and bathroom for each gender. Close to metro and supermarket for ease of use.
Alex W — Google review
The room was rather small, check in was uncomplicated and the bed was comfortable. We only stayed for one night, but that was fine. We didn't hear any sounds.
Leon — Google review
We stayed at Nekokura Hostel for 2 nights in March 2025. The staff are kind and helpful and even responded late at night when I’d forgotten to send them our ID photos. It’s like a comfortable shared apartment, and we had fun chatting with the other guests. The size of the room depends on your luck, ours was small but the others looked a little bigger. Please note you must pay Fukuoka accommodation tax (200円 per person per night) in cash and place it in an envelope on the desk. Old reviews decry the uncomfortable futons, but they have replaced these with nice bed pads and we slept well. The shared toilets/showers are clean and they provide one towel per night. There is even a washing machine/dryer combo that is free to use with provided gel detergent pods (full cycle takes 2.5h) and the machine is quite quiet. My only complaint is about the kitchen. The hostel is close to both a Gyomu and a Max Value so it’s possible to do groceries, but the kitchen should be better equipped. There was only salt and pepper, I bought oil and gyoza tare and left it for future guests. There are cutting boards but no chef’s knife. There are no chopsticks. There are only 3 mugs for potentially up to 6 people. There are pans but only the pot is compatible with the induction stovetop. You can't heat the pans. If you plan to cook please keep this in mind. The cats downstairs are adorable, but cannot interact with them. However, the nearby Higashikoen park has some friendly cats if you need your cat fix.

Sadly one of our least favorite accomodations on our Japan trip. The rooms are incredibly small and you won't be able to find a lot of sleep here. You are sleeping directly on the floor (no mattress!) - meaning it is super hard and you will have a lot of pain. There is just one toilet and one shower per sex (men need to share with girls though, girls have their own). The walls are paper thin so you hear absolutely everything which decreases the possibility of sleep even more. There are a fair amount of guests that act kind of disrespectful and are loud all night. Apart from that the hostel is really great. You will find all amenitites and even have a free washing machine (dryer included). The location is good with direct access to the metro system and the next convenience store is not far. The check-in process is a bit tricky because you need to send them your passport copies ahead which you will only know 10min before check-in time and may be stuck in front of the door since it is a self-check-in.

Really great little hostel. Excellent value for the price. Super clean and very well equipped. Our room was much bigger than what we expected from the photos. It's a little bit out of the way but still very accessible by public transit and even by foot depending on where you're headed. The futon is quite thin so this might be a problem for some, but we still slept very well. There is no staff on site but they reply very quickly via messaging. We could not hang out with the cats due to current policies but it was still very fun to watch them through the glass.
Beatrice S — Google review
You can reserve a time slot to help out working with the cats. When I helped out, I was cleaning litter trays. While you do this, the cats will climb on you and try to play with you. They're super adorable, but do get in the way of working slightly :D The hostel was a good price, had a comfortable bed and good internet. There was also free tea and some free cosmetics. The only downside is that the hostel is a bit of a walk to the centre, but there is a subway station close by.
Ste P — Google review
Very tidy, clean place. Unfortunately volunteer work in the cat shelter is currently not possible, but you can watch the cats through a glass wall. Note - read their instructions (via the booking portal of your choice) at least the day before check on or you might be stuck in front of locked doors as I was
Dustin S — Google review
Overall my night’s stay was pretty good but I am confused as to the cat shelter part. In the booking message they said your stay will help the cat. I arrived late and ask if I can see the cats and was told the shelter opens before 10am which is the checkout time. Instead of leaving early I kinda stalled my time because I wanted to have some interaction with the cats but that morning I was told it’s not possible. All you can do is look at the cats. There were 2 that I saw and it was from the window. Lol

The YuRaRiver SUSAKI hotel offers a relaxing environment with stunning views of the river. It is located in the city centre and just a few minutes' walk from the main shopping area. Facilities include an indoor pool, spa, and fitness centre. The rooms are decorated in soothing tones with comfortable beds and excellent facilities such as free Wi-Fi and satellite TV.
The hotel room was extremely clean and comfortable. The owner made sure we have enough towels, toothbrushes and toilet paper in between each cleaning. We had so many questions regarding transportation, locations, and travel plans. The owner answered every single of our questions. He made us feel very welcoming!!! We were also concerned that we would have problems checking in as we were landing at Fukuoka late. But he reassured us that the check in process will be a 30 seconds process as long as we pre-check. Sure enough, it was a very smooth and simple process. Overally, we enjoy every moment of this stay. The hotel and staff were above and beyond our expectations.

Very easy check-in and check-out process - contactless. No problems with met during stay at all. Great room for a family. Lots of beds. Comfortable space. There was a washing machine. Standard toilet facilities (bidet, seat warmer). Good location, as it was not in the centre of town, hence quiet. But a quick walk to centre.

Hakata Station, the largest station on Kyushu Island, serves as a crucial transportation hub connecting the shinkansen from Honshu with the rest of Kyushu and is conveniently located near Fukuoka Airport. The station offers a variety of dining options, including quick in-and-out style restaurants for busy travelers and upscale sit-down restaurants on its 9th and 10th floors.
An amazing modernly designed station with has a good selection of shops, restaurants and department stores all in one convenient location. You could get lost for hours exploring and discovering new things to see, enjoy and buy. The Christmas market at night was amazing with incredible illumination, performances, fun food and amazing atmosphere with people having a great time. Overall I recommend exploring Hakata Station beyond using the trains as it offers so much in terms of shopping, food and fun activities like the Christmas market.

Based on a last visit in July 2025 Fukuoka's version of Shinjuku, Kyoto, or Nanba stations and by far the alpha station the entire metro area. In fact, at a glance the exterior is very similar to that of Kyoto station, particularly the tall facade of the west entrance. Super well integrated with retails, you can find anything in it. One of the metro lines runs to the airport, which is unusually close to the downtown, making it a convenient hub and starting point to explore the area.

I took the Shinkansen straight from Kyoto and arrived at Hakata Station which is the main gateway to Fukuoka and Kyushu. The layout here is surprisingly easy to read for such a major hub, with clear signs in multiple languages and a smooth connection process. What makes it even more convenient is that the station is directly linked to several metro lines, so within minutes I was already on my way to the Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka. It’s one of those stations that feels big but never overwhelming, striking the right balance between functionality and comfort.

Hakata Station (博多駅) is the largest and busiest railway terminal in Kyushu, located in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City. Serving as a major transportation hub, it connects travelers to various destinations across Japan via the San’yō and Kyushu Shinkansen lines, as well as local and regional train services .
Arif A — Google review
The Shinkansen emerges from the west like breath from the sea. Hakata Station hums with laughter, food stalls, and the perfume of ramen broth drifting through the air. Businessmen, families, and travelers share benches, their suitcases reflecting lantern light. Here begins the soft warmth of Kyūshū — a journey not of speed but of rediscovery. Tourist Tip: Final stop for San’yō Line. Transfer to Kyūshū Shinkansen and Fukuoka Metro. Visit Canal City, Tenjin, Kushida Shrine, and Nakasu Yatai for night food stalls. Try Hakata ramen with thin noodles and rich broth. Major gateway between Honshu and Kyūshū. Transfer to Fukuoka Metro, local JR lines, or airport buses.
Stray L — Google review
The station serves as the main transportation hub in FUK. The 2 major metro lines run past this station, hence it’s easy to get around the city. It’s also the base for trains and shinkansens to move around Kyushu and beyond. Despite its size-large, it’s easy to navigate around as its good layout with proper signages makes life easy. I must say most 🇯🇵 major transit hubs are superbly planned, 👍🏻 if you tire of the station, just move out to linked shopping hubs around it. There are plenty of choices. You can practically spend a whole day in the station and its nearby vicinity. Plenty of places to eat and drink.

Stayed Hakata from Dec. 27-Jan.6 & pretty much in & out here plus dined few times in the basement food court. The lighting in front of the station is amazing & glorious. There are many department stores surrounding it. It’s indeed, a modern multifunctional station. Love it very much.

This station is pretty big, but you can somehow still easily find your way around here. It's the main transport hub in Fukuoka where all subway lines, JR lines, and Shinkansen are. I was here in December where the Hakata Xmas Market was going on. Lovely lights and decorations, especially at night!

Yanagibashi Rengo Market, also known as Hakata's Kitchen, is a traditional marketplace with over 100 years of history in Fukuoka. It offers a compact setting where you can find an array of local meats, seafood, and produce. The market is famous for its fresh seafood caught daily and a wide variety of local products.
Let's be fair and not compare this small market with the big ones. While waiting for our turn at one of the eatery, I managed to venture 80% of the market, sans the small alleyways. As Hakata is famous for mentaiko, there are many stalls that sells them. Lining the main alley are packaged seafood, ready to cook food, sweets, eateries but most importantly, one of my favourite slimy vegetables beside nameko which is 順菜 can be found here! So quaint!
Alvin L — Google review
We visited on a Saturday around 2 PM and noticed that only a few stalls were open at the time. The market is relatively small and can be explored in about 30 minutes or less. Compared to larger markets like Kuromon, this one is more compact, but it does have its charm. There are a few small restaurants offering chirashidon and sashimi rice bowls. During our visit, there was one stall serving fresh sashimi for immediate consumption, with a small table set up where you could enjoy it with soy sauce and wasabi—it was fresh and tasty. We also tried the stall selling assorted fish cakes. If you mention you’ll eat them right away, they’ll warm them up for you on the spot, which was a nice touch. The market includes a small lounge area with seating, a vending machine for drinks, and a restroom for convenience. While it may not be a must-visit if you're tight on time, it's worth checking out if you're nearby and in the mood for good quality sashimi at an affordable price.

A small market not far from the subway station. The market sells a variety of fresh produce such as seafood and fruits + dried goods including tea leaves. There are also several stores that sells seafood bowls which are really fresh and affordable.

Quite a short street but full of mainly shops selling seafood though there is a shop selling tea and teapots while there is another selling seafood and mushrooms. There are also three main restaurants selling seafood don with soba noodles or miso soup. Worth a visit for a quick and unassuming meal.

A little market street that makes for a short exploration into a market with both locals and tourists. Stalls here sell mainly fresh seafood and sashimi, and vegetables (some quite large!). It's not big in any sense, but perhaps that's part of its charm.

Atago Shrine, dating back to 72 A.D., is the oldest shrine in Fukuoka and one of three major shrines in Japan dedicated to the god of Atago. Perceived as having healing powers, it attracts millions of visitors annually seeking good luck and fortune while banishing negative influences. Situated on a 60-meter hill, this Shinto shrine offers stunning views of Fukuoka and Hakata Bay, especially at night when Fukuoka Tower is illuminated.
One of my favorite shrines to visit in Fukuoka! Nestled on top of a hill, it provides a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of the city by providing you time to relax and reset your mind. The main highlight was the beautiful panoramic view of the ocean with the buildings below surrounding the coast. You could also get some regular and limited edition goshuin here as well. Overall, highly recommend spending some time here to soak in the peace and tranquility with an epic view of the ocean and breather in the fresh air without being overwhelmed by tourists!

Vitalii C — Google review
Atago Shrine, located in the middle of Fukuoka City, promises to be a magnificent retreat. Atago Shrine is a magnificent example of how history and modernity can be harmoniously combined. It is situated on a hill in the middle of Fukuoka City, which is a bustling city. The most recent time I went to this cultural paradise, which offered a mesmerizing combination of Japanese history and a stunning panoramic view of Fukuoka's shimmering city lights, I was completely captivated by something that I saw. As I made my way up the stone-paved route that led to the Atago Shrine, the loud and chaotic mood of the city gradually dissipated, and it was gradually replaced by a calm and peaceful feeling. A place where time appeared to slow down was indicated by the torii gate, which stood towering and imposing as it marked the entrance to the area. A symbolic change into a domain where old traditions live happily with the modern urban was represented by the climb up the hill, which was more than simply a physical rise. When I arrived to the highest point of the temple, I was met with the breathtaking sight of the Atago temple. The structure of the shrine reflected the grace and elegance that are typical of Japanese shrines. Both the precise architecture and the tranquil atmosphere contributed to the creation of a perceptible feeling of spirituality, which invited guests to connect with the cultural wealth that is characteristic of Japan. One of the most memorable experiences I had throughout my trip was being able to see the transformation from the daytime to the breathtaking sight of Fukuoka City lighted into the nighttime. At the moment when the sun was sinking below the horizon, the contemporary skyline of the city came to life with a magnificent exhibition of lights. From the vantage point of the Atago Shrine, I was presented with a breathtaking panorama that harmoniously combined the lively energy of modern-day metropolitan life with the centuries-old customs that have been practiced for millennia. The contrast of the ancient temple against the shimmering background of Fukuoka's new buildings was a sight to see. There was a beautiful tapestry of hues that was created by the city's glittering lights that reached all the way to the horizon. This created a feeling of awe and appreciation in the viewer. At the same time, the Atago Shrine offered a tranquil setting for silent contemplation. In addition to the well-kept gardens, traditional lanterns, and old trees, the general peacefulness was strengthened, providing a much-needed break from the frenetic pace of the city. It has become abundantly clear that the Atago Shrine not only functions as a cultural beacon but also as a sanctuary for those who are looking for peace and quiet in the middle of the hectic life of the city. Atago Shrine is a secret jewel that elegantly knits together the threads of Japan's rich cultural tapestry with the current vitality of Fukuoka City. In conclusion, this shrine is a hidden gem. A trip to the Atago Shrine is an absolute need, regardless of whether you are a fan of the arts, a devotee of the natural world, or just looking for a breathtaking panorama that will capture your spirit. Visitors will leave with a strong respect for the beauty and resiliency of Japanese culture as a result of their experience at this charming retreat, where the past and the present are in perfect harmony.

Great views over the city and on good day you can make really nice photos. We had plenty of time in Fukuoka and visited this shrine twice to make some photos and to enjoy the scenenry. This is one of Japan's most potent deities is the fire deity, who lives on mountains, they serve as the residents' guardians as well as the cities' protectors. Both in the past and the present, fire has been used for cooking and lighting, the god Atago-Sama, as he is sometimes called, is the subject of the Atago Shinto Shrine. One of Japan's three principal shrines is called Atago Shrine.Tokyo and Iwana are where the other two are situated, the Washio Shrine was its previous name. This shrine was constructed in the seventeenth century.

“Very satisfied” (May 27-May 29) I can hardly find anything inconvenient or uncomfortable during my 3-night stay. We had a great stay at this hostel! The amenities are really convenient—there’s a laundry area and even a space in the lobby where you can cook, which is perfect for longer stays. The staff are amazing and very friendly, always ready to help with a smile. Everything is kept clean and well-maintained, making it a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. Highly recommended!

This was our hotel. The staff were accomodating. There was unlimited coffee in the lobby. The staff let us hold our bags for 4 hours after check out while were in Dazaifu. The toilets were so good and they even had a bathtub. A room could easily fit 4 people but we were 5 so we booked another room. The elevator was quick. It was also cheap. There was also a view of another building and a parking lot, but I thought that was amazing because it was a Japanese parking lot and a Japanese building. There was also typical sort of stair for putting shoes. There is also a refrigerator. The location was a bit unfavorable (10 minutes is a long walk for me, I do not like to exercise that much.) but it was still close enough to some restaurants, vending machines, and the Higashi Hie metro station.

Please praise the front desk! Also the rooms are nice and clean. It is quite loud the doors when people just let them slam in the middle of the night. I wish guests would be more mindful! But that’s not the hostel’s fault. Bathrooms are clean and hot water plus pressure was perfect. Will recommend!

UNPLAN Fukuoka is a stylish hostel with modest accommodations and a charming rooftop terrace offering scenic mountain views. Situated near Ohori Park and close to the station, it provides easy access to local attractions. Guests can enjoy socializing in the lounge, where they may encounter travelers from various countries. Despite some negative feedback, the hostel is generally clean and well-maintained, with friendly staff members who ensure security even during nighttime hours.
The rooms were nice and cool which is a relief during Fukuoka’s unbelievably hot days. Guests were really considerate about keeping quiet and gently closing doors late at night and early in the morning. The staff were kind, and the breakfast was great! I also appreciated the relaxing lounge area which is perfect for unwinding after a long day out. The location is amazing too, right across the road from Ohori Park and just a short walk from the station, with great connections to the city centre. Would definitely stay again!

I really enjoyed my stay at UNPLAN Fukuoka! The rooms are modern, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet which made it easy to relax after exploring the city. I had previously stayed with UNPLAN in Tokyo and loved the experience, so I chose them again here in Fukuoka—and I’m so glad I did. The social dynamic here felt a bit different compared to Tokyo; guests in Fukuoka were more low-key and less social, but it didn’t bother me since the atmosphere was still very welcoming. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, which makes the hostel feel even more inviting. I’ll definitely be back—UNPLAN is quickly becoming my go-to hostel brand in Japan!

I was super happy with the pod dormitory room! It has everything you need — plenty of storage space, hangers, and a small locker with a key. The lounge on the 5th floor is spacious, and most guests quietly eat or work there. The first floor is better for socializing and chatting. The hostel also hosts various activities on weekdays, like movie nights and live DJ events, so even solo travelers can have some fun. The location is excellent — less than a 5-minute walk to the subway, and both Ohori Park and the Fukuoka Art Museum are within walking distance. There’s a Charichari shared bike station right outside (you’ll need to register on your phone first). The roads toward Tenjin are wide, so it’s a comfortable ride if you avoid rush hour.

In July, the average temperature is 34 degrees. This hotel is conveniently located, just one minute's walk from Ohori Park's "Exit 4" (there are no elevators or escalators at Exit 4). The room is opened with a password, the room and shower room are very clean, a simple free breakfast is provided, and cooking equipment such as microwave, induction cooker, refrigerator, oven, etc. are available on the fifth floor. (Washing machine and dryer need to be paid). There is also a cafe in the lobby on the first floor. The capsule room has sufficient air conditioning and is not too hot. Large luggage can only be placed next to the door. The staff is very friendly. It is a place I would like to come again.
Pk S — Google review
Location is lovely. Breakfast won’t be accommodating if don’t eat bread or dairy. Pity that an hour before breakfast ends coffee was gone. Don’t even think about using the lobby where you ate breakfast between 11am and 6 pm unless willing to pay for coffee. If you like dimly lit slave ship quarters with a curtain door at very high prices this could be your jam. Cleanliness of the bathrooms and bedrooms could use improving. The human experience as a guest was that greed is the name of the game. Particularly disappointed with the number of fellow travelers male and female who seem to cough continuously with no regard to others ie covering their mouths. Total sick bay hospital ward coughing orchestra at times. Yikes! Luggage storage area is not secure : multiple occasions I saw the door wide open and zero staff on the ground floor.

Modern with good community vibes. Beds were clean, though the capsules did get a bit stuffy and hot at night. Well-run facility that offers many social nights and activities (though I didn't have time to partake). Liked that they had Adidas trainers for rent (again, I didn't partake). When I arrived, they had a Halloween DJ party until quite late. I could hear the music while in bed, but I managed to block it out with earplugs. Breakfast was decent. Lots of breads with jam & butter, yoghurt, cereal, hardboiled egg, coffee and tea. They have limits of how much you can take. Very close to Ohori Park. Right on the subway line, so convenient to get placed. Lounge had a good layout and vibe. People hung out there very late. Filtered water available at the sink. Would stay here again.
Kathy L — Google review
It's a trendy capsule hotel. The capsules themselves are quite diy and seem to have been just thrown together. You don't have to step up in to the capsule though which is nice. Also each floor is split in to separate rooms with about 8 to 10 capsules in each which theoretically minimises disturbance. There are signs everywhere asking people to be quiet which is good too. I had a good nights sleep. There's also a decent lounge area but it was very crowded when I stayed. I didnt try the showers as I just went to the local sento instead but the sinks where I brushed my teeth looked like they could do with some additional tiling and extra cleaning. There's a parking lot next door which was a few hundred yen for the night. For me it was well located and cheap place to crash for the night so it got the job done.

Great service—staff were polite and helpful throughout my stay. The amenities are solid and make the place comfortable. Shared rooms were fine. I didn't find them as hot as other reviews mentioned. Yes, it gets noisy when people come and go, but that's just hostel life. Good value overall.
Mario — Google review
The location is convenient, situated between Tenjin and Hakata, both of which require a walk of about 15-20 minutes. The bed is modern, very clean, and features a remote control to raise it into a sofa position, making it quite comfortable. The common area is equipped with a table, sofa, and chargers, and there is free tea and coffee available (though the coffee machine was not working during my stay). However, no cutlery is provided, and the microwave was quite dirty, although the other areas were fine. However, the female toilets and shower areas are not well maintained. There is often hair left in the sink or on the chair due to infrequent cleaning. Additionally, there is only one female toilet for over 20 rooms in zones D and E. However, you may use the female toilets on the ground floor, which are even nicer.
Anna — Google review
While the location was convenient, my stay overall had quite a few issues. The pod itself felt very hot at night and it was fairly noisy, which made it hard to rest. Cleanliness was the biggest concern — there was leftover hair and clothes in the bathrooms which weren’t checked regularly enough, bins hadn’t been emptied, and there was a lot of dust under the beds that I noticed when moving my suitcase. The whole place could really use more regular upkeep and a refresh. On the positive side, the check-in process was excellent. Using mobile check-in ahead of time meant I could simply enter my PIN on an iPad at reception and pick up my key instantly — no waiting in line, which was a breeze. However, the common areas and the laundrette were poorly maintained. The washing machines were grimy, some with visible mold, and overall the shared spaces just didn’t feel clean or welcoming. It left a poor impression despite the convenient location. As far as “hostel” type accommodation I guess this does the job and I would pick it over bunk beds in a shared room.

Chose to stay here as a last minute booking because of a schedule error, and I'm glad I did. Not only is it close to the station, but I really loved decor in the lobby. It probably has the biggest and most comfortable beds that I've ever been in for a capsule hotel. Also, free coffee is also a plus. Would def stay here again.

Convenient location, right beside a subway station and a 7-11; good vibe, good service ,personal space is a bit bigger than other hostels/capsule hotels I've stayed, but the under-bed storage space is not big enough for my suitcase, that was a bit of a hassle ; and shower/toilet wasn't always clean during my stay, overall it's a good value and I'd stay again.

A comfy capsule hotel with a big and comfotable bed. Do not expect room space (or a door) but if you just need a safe and secure place to rest after going around, this is great. Minor issues: The bedsheet can dislodge from the mattress after repeated changes in the bed position The fan is a little weak so it can be uncomfortable for people who run hot. It eventually cools the room down enough to make it comfortable during the night. The luggage undertray can fit at most a medium sized luggage, maybe less

The accommodation was perfect! Well located, very comfortable! And I loved the bar—the cocktail menu was excellent, good, and not very expensive. Many thanks to the wonderful American/Japanese bartender who made my stay in Fukuoka so enjoyable!

comfortable, technological hostel. very convenient capsule control from the iPod. the fan works well. convenient that you can set the alarm clock without sound, the light in the capsule turns on at the appointed time. storing things under the bed can be difficult if you have a large suitcase. I solved this by simply opening the suitcase and in this form it fits perfectly in height. there is also a safer on the right under the bed, where you can put valuables and a laptop fits. cleaning in common areas is only in the mornings, so in the evenings the shared areas get a bit dirty. the coworking area on the second floor doesn't have many seats with outlets, so it may happen that there aren't enough for everyone. this only happened to me once, I had to sit at a table without an outlet, but later I was able to move.

Guests can choose from unfussy dorms or private sleeping areas, all designed with comfort in mind. The shared facilities, including clean shower rooms and toilets, ensure convenience without compromising on hygiene.
Great hostel!! The staff here was so lovely and friendly. They spoke many languages including English, Japanese and French. Great atmosphere. Very clean and great price! Would absolutely stay here again.

Stayed at Bed Stock and it was very near the Akasaka train station. Just a mere 1 min walk away from Exit 2. It's a budget hotel, with small individual bedroom ie better than capsules. Shared cubicles of shower rooms, toilets but are very clean. Only downside, noises could be heard from snores, opening of doors. At the ground floor, there is the food and beverage section. Great place to hang out. A great place to stay at a very affordable price!

Some of the good things are: They already have beds made unlike most places in Japan. That was a huge plus. They use actual mattresses unlike other hostels that just use some sort of mat/padding. I felt like the staff were decent overall. Literally right next to a station exit. I feel like the hostel tried in many ways but there were definite flaws in the way it was designed that didn't make my stay as enjoyable. First, the first floor/reception area is so.. dimly lit? For what reason? Actually I think they may have been going for a certain retro/hip vibe but I personally think it gives off an unwelcoming vibe for new guests who first enter. There is an elevator except it only goes up to the 4th floor. My dorm was on the 5th so after the elevator I had to take another flight of stairs. Eh, not a biggie for a backpacker. But for people with huge luggages? I think that can be a problem. The dorm floors were not very sturdy/concrete so when people walk you can hear and feel their footsteps. It's a bit hard to describe exactly but it was pretty distracting especially late at night when people came in late. The dorm beds aren't designed as capsule style but more randomly sorted around the room. I guess they just tried to fit as many bunk beds as possible in the rooms. It was kinda annoying sleeping from the top bunk when the light was turned on it shined in your eyes. The sinks in the bathroom were metallic and all connected together. Kind of like the sinks you find in commercial kitchens? I feel like that was just oddly placed. And when people use the sinks at the same time their water kinda gets into your space and such. But whatever it's just a sink not a big deal. Overall it was an ok stay for one night.

Clean dorms and bathroom. Comfy bed. Main floor public space is acutally a bar, inconsistent hours, very loud parties at night time. Could hear music on the 3rd floor. Possilbly a good place to meet locals? If a good nights sleep is a priority, this place is not for you. Tiny locker in room. Poor lightingn in the single room. No real luggage storage, the just a bike lock attached to stair railing by the main door.

Cool 'secret base' bunk bed concept. The bunks were roomy and comfy. I felt like I had a lot of privacy. The staff were great. I was really happy to have the free wifi. The kitchen and dining space on the top floor was also a real plus.

A great place to base out of Fukuoka. Its not to close to main metro lines but close enough for a nice walk. The shared amenities are great for a hostel. It's very clean and well operated. I would recommend to friends and family if they ever visit this amazing city. Thank you for the hospitality!

The Hostel is good to spend view night's here. The atmosphere just felt a little bit cold. You'll get a band as a sign if you want to talk to other people or not. Not very necessary. Otherwise the bed's are comfy.
Denis N — Google review
The decor is modern and the bed is comfortable. Showers are decent and the toilets are reasonably clean...however the bed is a small double so be prepared to spoon! The staff are very unhelpful and knew little to nothing about the area. One of the staff couldn't even estimate a taxi price to the main train station... amoungst serveral simple questions I had the common answer was, I don't know, with no intention or interest to help. The dorm is large and with almost 20 double beds gets stuffy. There is no one to put your bag and no lockers available. The hostel is about a 10 mins walk from the subway and 25 from hakata station. And 20 mins from Tenjin and 25 mins walk from the port. There are definitely better locations. But good price. Would not stay again.

Nestled in the heart of Fukuoka, Tabicolle Backpackers offers a serene retreat for adult travelers seeking comfort and convenience. This charming hostel features simple dormitory-style accommodations, complete with access to a well-equipped kitchen and a delightful rooftop terrace where you can unwind after a day of exploring. Guests are treated to complimentary breakfast items like bread and butter each morning, adding an extra touch to your stay. While it may be slightly tucked away, finding this hidden gem is worth the effort.
Though a little obscure to find if you aren't looking correctly, it is a fantastic gem of a hostel. The owner is incredibly friendly and very efficient at keeping things relaxed. You get access to a locker, which is great for keeping things safe, and full access to the kitchen appliances. Bread and butter is supplied for breakfast in the mornings which was an added surprise. Everything in the hostel is to a good standard and would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area. Booked very last minute and they were very understanding of the circumstances. All in all, very happy customer :)

There is only one shower but everything is clean. I don't recommend going with heavy luggage as it's on the second floor with no elevator. This was a quieter hostel, less social. The staff reserved an early morning taxi to the airport for me. The beds are creaky and have no privacy/light blocking curtain. Also the air conditioner wasn't on in the common room/reception area in late July, I was really uncomfortable in the heat. The room had AC though.
Alex F — Google review
It was a cozy place for a short stay. The receptionist spoke English quite fluently and clearly told us about everything. The alley was small but the bed was clean and comfortable. I also must say, the bathroom was small but efficient. It was close to 7 eleven and about 15 minutes to the station in case you want to run to the airport using mrt. Oh and there's a reataurant downstair where they sold ramen!
Lutfianna D — Google review
Very quiet and clean hostel. Fully booked when I was there but only accommodates 20 people. Bed was wide and comfortable and staff had good English and were very helpful. Only concern was there was only one shower but it didn't end up being a problem.

I visited in February 2025. An incredible shop with heaps of cute merchandise with maps of all over Japan. I bought 2 eco bags; 1 with a Map of fukuoka and 1 with a map of tenjin. Coins Hostel天神 is a conveniently located accommodation in Tenjin, Fukuoka, just a 5-minute walk to Nishitetsu Station. The interior resembles a beautifully renovated apartment with amenities such as shower, toilet, body soap, and toothbrushes provided. While there's no parking or breakfast offered, the fairly cheap price makes it suitable for an overnight stay without meals.
(Translated by Google) Used on March 2024. It took about 40 minutes to get there from Fukuoka Airport to Tenjin Minami Station. 🐱I'm traveling by plane from Tokyo with my cat. When we arrived, we were greeted by the young female owner who politely guided us to our room. This time, I stayed in room 8 with my wife and cat. I travel to many places with my cat, so I was talking in the guest room with the owner, who loves cats, about hotels in the area. The owner is working hard to gather information. The room has been renovated and is beautiful. There was a unit bath, refrigerator, and Airdog, and cleaning supplies were placed in the common area in the hallway. My cat is nervous and nervous, but the room was clean, so she was able to use the toilet in her room with peace of mind. I'm concerned about the smell of other animals, but in this room, I didn't have to worry about the smell and was calm and urinating as usual. At my house, we have a habit of wiping our bodies thoroughly after defecating, so even if we lay them on the futon, they are clean. It was a pet-friendly room where you could lie down on the futon and relax. The cat seemed satisfied too. A cat was constantly looking outside from the window of the room, and was ignored by its owner. There is a dog run on the rooftop. It was raining so I didn't take any photos. There are many delicious restaurants nearby. We went to Issho, a Japanese fresh fish restaurant along Watanabe Dori, for dinner on the advice of the owner. Sashimi and straw-grilled mackerel are recommended. “Kitaro-san” is also recommended. For breakfast, we had a breakfast buffet at a nearby hotel. Since you are not a hotel guest, it will cost a few hundred yen more, but you must make a reservation the day before. Since I stayed for 2 nights, I was able to enjoy breakfast at a different hotel. The location is close to Tenjin underground shopping center and Canal City. From tourist spots, you can take a bus back to the bus stop right near the hotel. There is a bus stop 🚍 about 1 minute walk. To the owner There is no breakfast here, so I thought it would be good if you could reserve a breakfast buffet at a nearby hotel through the hotel. Owner, please do your best to collaborate. When you stay at a hotel in Hokkaido, you will receive a map and information at the front desk where you can eat with your pet. Isn't it good? There is an Airdog in your room. Airdog cannot sterilize, but ozone O3 can sterilize the source of odors and cover hygiene issues. Since there are many guests (animals) at the hotel in Nikko Kinugawa, there are various animal smells, so I recommended ozone. Of course, we also use ozone at home to clean and disinfect cat litter boxes and cat litter. Ozonated water is also kept on the dentist's examination table. It's effective for rinsing your mouth.

(Translated by Google) After looking at the website, location, reviews, etc., I made a reservation for a couple and two dogs on the same day and decided to go for the 1st floor. When I was guided into the room, the atmosphere was almost different from that of HP. And with that quality, the price is 31,000 yen. Seriously, the quality is below 8000 yen. The water system is terrible, especially in the shower room, where you only have a shower and the smell from the narrow drain is so disgusting that you don't feel like you're taking a bath. The floor is dented and peeling, and there's mold near the door. The walls are thin so you can hear voices from outside and inside. There are no electrical outlets. No pajamas or face wash. I read that it's dog-friendly, but I have no idea what they think about dogs. There are no dog supplies in the room. Above all, it's too narrow. The worst thing was that the dog run was poorly maintained. It's on the roof, so there are nets and other measures to prevent it from falling, but there are holes that a small dog can easily fit through, or they're torn, the net is so old that it's falling apart, and pieces of it are falling out, and the sand bags are torn. It was the worst dog run I've ever seen. I was able to get a car, but I was directed to a parking lot that was not affiliated with the parking lot and was told that it would not cost more than 1,800 yen to park there for a day, so I parked at the nearest parking lot, but was told that it would be 2,300 yen for the return trip, which I seriously didn't understand. It was. I don't usually make reservations on the same day, so I don't have any mistakes, but this time I really regret wasting my money. I regret what I did to the dogs. crying I really don't understand why it's rated so high I'm sure the store has written a highly rated review. If I were to recommend it For young children who just want to sleep, and for people from overseas. I really don't recommend it, especially if you are bringing your dog with you. It's not as per the reviews. The good thing about it is that it's close to central areas such as Tenjin.

The building (especially the water area) was old, but the interior was kept clean and I could tell that it was well cared for. However, even though there is a pub on the first floor, the part that looks like a ventilation fan is large and open, so you can see the outside. I was a little worried about security, but as expected, just as I was about to go to sleep, a cockroach appeared next to my bed. In addition, mysterious black insects appeared on the floor and inside the comforter, so we had to change rooms. I could hear everyone coming in and out of the pub on the first floor. However, the female staff member did not give me a single unpleasant look and let me go to a 6-person room in the new building. The room there was very new, including the plumbing, and I didn't hear any noise or insects, so I was able to spend my time with peace of mind. I was grateful to the staff, but I don't think it's normal for a reservation for 2 people to be put in a room for 6 people, so I might not be able to recommend it highly. Also, you can use the shower freely, but shampoo, body soap, shaving, etc. are not provided. Towels are available for a fee of 500 yen. Now 5000 yen is too expensive. It's better to stay at an internet cafe. I have never stayed in such a bad guest house. Definitely not a second time.
