Burmese restaurant
Restaurant
Rangoon Tea House Golden Valley is a serene spot to enjoy a local breakfast in Yangon, open from 8 am daily. The menu offers classic Burmese dishes and a delightful seasonal fruit plate with various fruits, along with local yogurt and honey. This tea house serves 16 types of Burmese tea and inventive Burmese-inspired cocktails.
Rangoon Tea House in Yangon is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a high-quality restaurant to try Burmese cuisine. The food is absolutely delicious, served in a beautiful and stylish setting. In addition to Burmese dishes, the menu also offers Chinese and other international options, along with a great selection of cocktails. Everything I tried here was exceptional, both food and drinks. The service was a bit slow, but the overall experience was still fantastic. I can wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone visiting Yangon!
Tibor — Google review
5 stars Absolutely loved my experience at Rangoon Tea House! The atmosphere is beautiful and welcoming, with a great mix of modern and traditional Burmese style. The food was delicious — full of flavor and clearly made with care. I especially enjoyed the tea selection and the thoughtful presentation of every dish. Service was friendly and professional throughout. One of the best places to eat in Yangon — highly recommended! There is also a smoking section by the outside table eating area.
Sarah M — Google review
A nice place for all day dinings. Variety of food from Chinese dim sum, Burmese food, and international breakfast. They are famous for tea and tea leaves. Cheesecake is also recommended.
Nuch S — Google review
Probably the best Burmese food restaurant you’ll have in downtown Yangon. They also have Indian cuisine-influenced food including bacon & cheese samosa, which I can’t get enough of, and chicken biryani. I also had crispy pork bowl and it was divine. Finished the entire bowl! Spent ~90k mmk on my meal but that was definitely for sharing! I wasnt able to finish the biryani. Preferably, you visit this place with family or friends and enjoy the food because the portions are definitely for sharing. :)
Janno — Google review
This is a fusion-style restaurant offering a mix of Burmese local dishes, Indian cuisine, and items similar to Cantonese-style tea house fare. They play traditional Burmese music in the background, giving the place a nostalgic and cultural atmosphere. The restaurant is housed in a two-story wooden building with a spacious layout, creating a grand and open feel. It has a classic charm with a touch of local character. Aside from being a bit noisy, the overall environment is quite nice — I would rate the ambiance between 4 and 4.5 stars. As for the food, the portions are quite small and the prices are on the higher side, so the value for money is relatively low. I'd rate the food around 3.5 stars. If the pricing were more reasonable, it could deserve 4 stars. The service is decent. The staff speak English, and there’s an English menu available. However, the Wi-Fi is basically unusable. Service overall can be rated 4 stars. In summary: Food: 3.5–4 stars (due to small portions and high prices) Service: 4 stars Environment: 4–4.5 stars (minus some points for noise) Overall: 4 stars

And incredible restaurant in central Yangon. I had heard a lot about this place in blogs online and it lived up to expectations. I went in the evening and vibe was chill, low mood lighting, art in the walls, wooden decor. The cocktail list was long, I tried several and they were all delicious. Menu was modern take on Burmese food. Highly recommend the pork noodles and tea infused cocktails. Staff were attentive and friendly, service was quick. Learned a lot about the history of the restaurant and of the city while there too!

Cocktails are stunning! Artistic local creations! Ambiance is spot on! On world charm. Perfect spot to visit with friends, family, a romantic treat or by yourself! Food is tasty and staff are friendly!
Cindy N — Google review
As a foreigner in Myanmar amidst some uncertainty, Rangoon Tea House was a comforting gem in the heart of Yangon! The tea and food here are absolutely top-notch — easily the best I’ve had in the city. I especially loved the mohinga — rich, flavourful, and authentic. The ambience is stylish yet relaxed, and the service was warm and welcoming. If (and when) I return to Myanmar, this will definitely be one of my first stops again!

Acacia Tea Salon is a sophisticated establishment located in a beautifully renovated historic villa, featuring tea rooms and a restaurant serving both local and Western cuisine. The colonial-style tea salon, patisserie, and restaurant are housed in an elegant whitewashed mansion with a takeaway section offering delectable cakes. Despite occasional service hiccups, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. Overall, it's considered an excellent dining destination that prioritizes customer experience.
The service is phenomenal at this place... I was here today for lunch with my friends and there was a little communication error between the waiter and the kitchen that leads to an extra hour of waiting time for 3 dishes. However, different levels of staff came to apologize for their error several times for us not to get dissatisfied, and deliver our meal fast. Long story short... they value the customer a lot and best place to dine in.

Hello all whitey Acacia. Its One of my favorite place in Myanmar. you can enjoy food(Chinese and European), drinks(as you wish), Pastry(My lovey one choice is American cheese cake), Coffee( I would remind you pour all milk into your Americano cup but no sugar) and tea. One more there is layout, its actually different from other. Since you came in you would feel it. I loving it.

Le Planteur Restaurants & Lounge is a top-notch dining venue located in a colonial mansion with stunning views of Inya Lake. The establishment offers four distinct dining concepts, including private gourmet-dining rooms, a wine bar, outdoor garden dining for high tea, and a bistro for casual lunches. While reservations are recommended due to its slightly out-of-town location, the experience is well worth the 20-minute drive from PARKROYAL Yangon.
"Everything was perfect: the food, wine list, environment, and service. It's unbelievable to find such a place in Yangon, and we're happy to be back."
Pam W — Google review
Very good fine dining restaurant with an amazing atmosphere, we went in the morning and we took pictures of the beautiful lake and the ducks that were there and it was fantastic to take photos, the atmosphere was really vibrant and warm and i was pleased with the atmosphere of the place however the price for the quality of food i feel like its not too worth it, i ordered seafood spaghetti and i felt it was a little underwhelming for the price i was paying but the lamb was good but the portions were lacking though it is justifiable as it is a fine dining restraunt i just wanted to add emphasis on how you guys need a more consistent standard for all the food because i really did feel like the spaghetti was lacking and it was not worth the 50k i paid though staff were welcoming and friendly, i feel like the portion size along with the taste of the spaghetti was extremely underwhelming and i was not satisfied with the taste and i hope you guys can improve it.
Gentle M — Google review
Environment: 8/10 The environment is very nice. You get the view of the Inya lake and there are outdoor seats right next to the lake. But it wasn't as nice during lunchtime because of the burning sun. The decoration was colonial style and was very decorative. Food: 7/10 The taste wasn't extraordinary, the taste felt simple. Nothing too yummy but not bad either. Definitely go there for the nice environment but don't expect too much from the food.
Peam P — Google review
This restaurant is located in an heritage colonial house facing Inya lake, downstairs for casual dining and upstairs fine dining. The food menu is minimal but the dishes are excellent, with a very smooth combinations of ingredients and taste; the wine list is superb and the atmosphere is unique.
Alessandro M — Google review
Place is perfect with the lake view. Although their taste is not exquisite for the best fine dining in town but their price is. 🚨 They will come and fill ur glasses with water from reusable bottle and 1$/bottle🚨 Taste. - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Price. - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Location. -⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service. -⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cleanliness - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kyan T — Google review
This is the premier French restaurant in Rangoon. They have their own private bay on the water. The setting is an old colonial home and gardens. The home is luxurious and the gardens are exquisite. Even the toilets are like stepping into luxury. The food is Michelin-class in presentation, delivery, and taste. The only downside are the mosquitoes that cannot be avoided. So spray yourself or larger up the cream to keep from becoming the main meal. The tables are spaced so that each group has privacy of conversation while not appearing to be isolated. They have ample parking and security in the parking lot.
Srini — Google review
Good location at inyar lake with cool view. Green landscaping and ancient furnature collection has peaceful environment. Dishes are expensive and portion size is small. But worth to spent time and money

Love the vibe here—definitely 5 stars for that. The service was attentive as well, but the bistro menu lacked uniqueness.

Nestled in the heart of Yangon, The Strand Café is a delightful gem that transports you back to the elegance of colonial times. Opened in 1901 by the renowned Sarkies brothers, who also established iconic hotels like Raffles, this café exudes charm with its Victorian-inspired decor featuring marble floors and rattan furniture.
The Strand celebrated Centennial last 2001. Established 1901, it is contemporary to Singapore's Raffles Hotel. A must in Rangoon now known as Yangon.
Sonny A — Google review
We went to the cafe for high tea. The cafe wasn't busy and we were seated right away. We didn't have reservations. The cafe is beautiful and styled more European than Burmese. We tried the Myanmar style high tea instead of the typical high tea. It's more expensive than a traditional meal for Myanmar. This costs us $18 each. The food itself was interesting to try and they accommodated a vegetarian diet. It was disappointing they only provided us with one type of tea. Many other high tea places I have tried lets you try multiple teas. The wifi worked well and the facilities were clean and modern. They accept credit cards as a form of payment. This was a lovely way to spend an afternoon out of the hot sun in Yangon.
K K — Google review
Exquisite modern European & classic French cuisine were lit! I love the plating of our meals. A comfy seating, no stress kind of dining. Great staff! #iamkbonita #labonitaviajera #travellifestyle
Khristine B — Google review
They call it a cafe, but it's both a restaurant and cafe. Or at least, I'm not aware of there being any other restaurant on-site. Anyway, I've had lunch here several times and have never been disappointed. The 2 and 3 course lunch set costs US$12 and US$19 (payable in Kyat) respectively. It's a bit steep to pay US$7 to go for an extra course so I always go for the 2-course lunch. A main (entree) and your choice of the starter or dessert is on offer. Water and plenty of bread with butter are served complimentary, but other drinks are extra. Service is quite attentive but not too intrusive. They take your order and once the food comes, it's delightful. Whether you choose a local or western option, the quality is superb as you would expect from a hotel of this caliber. Surprisingly, the prices are not too bad considering it's a 5-star hotel. Definitely a place I will visit again on my next business trip.
The R — Google review
We had a classic high tea set which cost $20. You can share with your friend if you want. Coffee and Myanmar tea are limited. The other tea like Early Grey and some others are free flow. The food taste really nice and we love it. Although the staff are friendly, there were no one around the corner so we had to go out and call them to order and ask for bill. If they could check on the customers often, it would be better.
Hnin D — Google review
Lovely for high tea. We had one Myanmar tea and one classic tea. The presentation was beautiful and the pot of tea was very large. The service was also very attentive. Four stars because some of the food was just mediocre. The Myanmar tea came with a course of white and black sticky rice, which had absolutely no flavor at all and did not deserve a place at high tea—it was like filler food. The cafe should work to refine some dishes a bit more.
Caroline L — Google review
High tea was entirely adequate but not special. The service was good and the tea was served in a big pot each, which was great. The food came out promptly and was definitely fancy looking. But if you’ve ever had high tea at another very nice establishment, you’ll be disappointed. The scone was very small and crumbled to pieces, so spreading cream was not possible. The sandwiches were good but not very imaginative — one was basically just a plain ham sandwich, and another was a strange asparagus and jelly concoction out of the 1980s. Good sweets overall, definitely the highlight. Perhaps I’m spoiled by high tea at other establishments, but at the price tag ($20 a head + tax/tip, ie 5x what other meals cost), I expect a little more wow.
Jetson L — Google review
Nice space in a grand old Building. But the food was average and beverages only ok. The staff where nice, but not friendly nor unfriendly! We had a set menu, and the food was mostly bland and quite uninteresting. The salmon was ok - good dish. The soup was not good - very bland. The lamb was ok - cooked nicely, presentes poorly and not supported with and sides that would make the dish pop! The desert was ok , much better than I expected, but still not amazing. Maybe the main restaurant is better but I cannot really recommend the cafe at least for a meal. It may be ok for a snack and coffee, but not up to pair with the grandeur of the building for a dining experience.

Breakfast restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Yangon, Lucky Seven Tea Shop (49th St branch) stands out as a premier destination for both locals and tourists seeking an authentic taste of Myanmar. This charming tea shop is celebrated for its delightful breakfast offerings, particularly the iconic mohinga—a fragrant rice noodle soup enriched with fish and lemongrass. The menu boasts a variety of delectable options including flaky savory buns, samosas, and freshly made roti bread, all at wallet-friendly prices.
Great breakfast place. Located in the street. Taste is great and fair price. We ordered 5/6 items and it only costs around 4 USD. Street parking available. Lots of seating both inside and outside. Service is good too.

Happy time to sit here sipping my favorite drink/local myanmar tea or coffee , there are also snacks, local dishes , outdoor space for sitting by the street or sit smoking with green backdrop wall decorated with traditional myanmar puppets.
Chajchawan N — Google review
Seems like a rip off. There are no prices on the menu. I asked about chapati with mutton curry. The staff showed 3 fingers so I thought 3000. Food was good but very small, it's just a snack. Two pieces of mutton. In the end it was all of a sudden 12000 plus 5000 for a simple Milo =17000. Misunderstanding or scam, I don't know. But for example you can go to a much nicer restaurant like Burma Bistro and get a very big Mohinga set with fresh juice for the same price.
Tobias — Google review
First time in Yangon and had amazing breakfast here. I love the food here especially mohinga and puri with potato curry. Tea was sweet but you can add more water too. Love the atmosphere here as many locals have their breakfast too. Would have come back in future.

Was having breakfast here everyday while in downtown Yangon and they served amazing foods! Everything was cheap & reasonable. Full of choices to choose from the menu. Love the milk tea!! This place is famous among locals, too, so it can get crowded. Just steps away from our airbnb guesthouse. Perfect local experience.

I couldn’t get enough of lucky seven whilst in Yangon and there’s a couple of Venues around. They’re always busy but the tables turn pretty quickly or they’ll find a table to stick you on. The roti and mutton curry for breakfast was a favourite of mine as well as the speciality tea.

Hotel
Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon is a luxurious hotel with various dining options, an outdoor pool, and a spa. The hotel offers stunning views of the sunset from its Lobby Lounge and Sunset Terrace. Guests can indulge in the Western High Tea set featuring delectable sandwiches, burgers, cakes, pastries, fruit mousses, and macarons complemented by freshly brewed coffee and tea.
From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and we were even offered a welcome drink while we waited. Every team member—from the front desk to housekeeping—was friendly, attentive, and eager to help with anything we needed. The highlight of our stay was definitely the pool and the incredible service that came with it. The staff at the pool area were attentive without being intrusive—they made sure we had fresh towels, checked in regularly to see if we needed drinks or snacks, and even helped us find the perfect shady spot during the hot afternoon sun.

Chatrium Hotel Yangon –Afternoon High Tea Set Review I recently had the chance to try the High Tea Set at Chatrium Hotel Yangon, and it was a truly delightful experience. The tea was served in the Lobby Lounge, offering a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful views of Kandawgyi Lake. The staff were very attentive and friendly, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The High Tea Set included a good variety of both sweet and savory items. The pastries were freshly made and beautifully presented — especially the macarons and fruit tarts, which were delicious. The savory bites, such as mini sandwiches and quiches, were flavorful and well-balanced. I also appreciated that the portion sizes were just right, allowing me to enjoy everything without feeling too full. The selection of teas was impressive, offering a mix of classic and aromatic blends. I tried the Earl Grey, which paired perfectly with the desserts. The presentation of the set was elegant, with a classic three-tier tray that added to the afternoon tea charm. Overall, Chatrium Hotel’s High Tea is perfect for relaxing with friends or celebrating a special occasion. The quality of the food, excellent service, and serene atmosphere make it one of the best high tea experiences in Yangon. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to visiting again.
Moethu A — Google review
The hotel breakfast buffet was enjoyable and had a good variety of dishes. The food was fresh and tasty, with options for both sweet and savory preferences. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the experience pleasant, especially Alex, Stella, Mya, and David. Overall, it was a satisfying start to the day.
Maw W — Google review
I just had the most delightful high tea experience at Hotel Chatrium Yangon. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was just perfect—elegant yet totally relaxed. The high tea set itself was a feast for the eyes (and the stomach, obviously!). Everything was presented so beautifully, and the treats were genuinely delicious. Think delicate, savory bites and little sweet masterpieces. It was the kind of afternoon that just makes you feel pampered and happy. But what truly made the experience exceptional was the service, and a huge shout-out has to go to Ma May Thuzar Win. She was so friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. She had this wonderful, genuine smile that instantly made us feel comfortable, and she was happy to answer all our questions about the different teas and treats. She really went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying every moment. Excellent service can elevate a great meal into an unforgettable memory, and Ma May absolutely nailed it. If you're looking for a luxurious, delicious, and utterly charming way to spend an afternoon in Yangon, the high tea at Hotel Chatrium is a must.

Hi-Tea at Chatrium Hotel – A Lovely Experience Had a wonderful hi-tea at Chatrium Hotel with my mom and child. They both absolutely loved it! The food was delicious with a nice variety of sweet and savory items. The ambiance was calm and elegant—great for a relaxing afternoon. Service was polite and attentive, making us feel very welcome. Overall, a great experience for the whole family. We’d definitely visit again!

Amazing hotel! When visiting Yangon and finding a place to stay, this hotel is the one I recommend. The hotel is similar to a luxurious villa. There is a large area of land with beautiful trees and elegant decor. The entire building, including the rooms, corridors, swimming pool, reception are clean, tidy, and has a nice scent to them. This hotel also has trustworthy security(they'll assign you the card for your room and only by that card can you access the elevator and your respective room). The meals they offer are delicious (they offer morning buffet too!) The service and hospitality makes you feel like a king! Absolutely recommend this!!

Among all the high tea sets I’ve experienced, this one stands out as my favorite. The selection of pastries is generous, the sweetness is well-balanced, and the flavors are delightful. It’s both satisfying and enjoyable. I would highly recommend it.

The Yangon Restaurant is a modern European dining establishment located in the People's Park Compound, near the Yangon art gallery. The restaurant prides itself on offering delicious cuisine, quality service, and a great ambiance. As soon as you arrive at the fancy venue, you'll notice its impressive interior with dangling crystals hanging from the ceiling. Additionally, there is an open patio that provides a perfect view of the Shwedagon Pagoda.
From the service to the food... everything was so good. Kudos and compliments to the chef because we will definitely go back for more! So much of the menu to be tried !! Just thank you for a pleasant evening !! (Just perhaps the piano doesn't need to be blasted though...)

The Yangon Restaurant. Nice refined first class setting. Perhaps the view of the garden is nice but nil visual jt night time. The very limited menu causes a bit of anxiety about the kitchen. Turns out many dishes had pointless salmon roe on many plates.. That kind of place...

This restaurant was an unexpected gem! All of the dishes were beautiful and expertly prepared. Great atmosphere, top notch service, and elevated food. One of the best meals we've ever had while traveling.

One of the best meals I’ve had in 2025. Probably because I was extra hungry but it is certain that it satisfied my cravings for an European meal. The atmosphere was quiet and nice with soft classical piano music playing in the background.

It is located in a lovely area with lots of trees. The restaurant is beautiful and service very good. The food is excellent. Must try their Tiramisu. It is the most amusing presentation I have seen so far. Must try.

This is an awesome place to begin with. We paid 500 MMK for 2 people to get into the park in a taxi. The architecture is historic and truly royal, surrounded by a tranquil lake. Fantastic for photo- taking. I was here to celebrate my Scottish friend's birthday. Upon arrival at the restaurant, the staff said they never received my booking. I replied their website was not responsive, and I never received a confirmed booking reply. Also they give us a new number as the website is not updated. Even without booking, we can always walk in. On the website, the buffet and ala carte are available. In reality, only ala carte is available. The website also mentioned cultural show and harpist performance but they have stopped all those since they reopened. The food is traditional Burmese food, which you can get better ones anywhere outside the restaurant. We thought we could eat exquisite royal dishes. We have been in Myanmar for at least 3 years and know the foods here. So menu wise, it's a great disappointment. The desserts and drinks are the only thing we enjoyed. The desserts were served with rice forks, not dessert forks!! The buffet hall, which is the ballroom, is grander but closed to the public. I showed them a video clip made by a PRC YouTuber last year. The waiter said that was food testing. They actually reopened the restaurant this year after a long renovation. I suggest the management should expand their menu to include fusion foods in addition to the traditional Burmese foods as the Burmese diet may not suit foreigners due to the high salt, oil and chilli contents. The more varieties can attract corporate professionals. They need to put in more marketing efforts to attract customers.
Josephine O — Google review
This place, though modeled after a royal palace, is much more than just a restaurant. It also serves as a cultural attraction, offering entertainment, traditional performances, and cultural displays that showcase the richness of Burmese heritage. There’s a small entrance fee of 500 kyats, but once inside, you’re treated to a grand environment—golden architecture, ornate carvings, and a peaceful lake with a large traditional boat. The ambiance feels regal yet welcoming, and the entire space is perfect for both sightseeing and dining. The food itself is reasonably priced and earns about 4 stars—not exceptional, but still quite good. While there’s no Wi-Fi, the cool, majestic interior and immersive cultural atmosphere more than make up for it. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot to experience local culture, enjoy a beautiful setting, and have a good meal. I would still give it a full five-star rating for the overall experience. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Yangon.
Lis H — Google review
I recently visited this place located right on a lake, and the scenery was absolutely stunning. The place is decorated like a royal palace dining hall, which makes the atmosphere feel very special. I went with my family, including my mom who uses a walking stick. As soon as the waiter saw her, he kindly came out to help, held her hand, and gently walked her to our table. His service was very thoughtful and caring throughout our visit. The food was delicious, and the plating was done beautifully. Prices are a bit high for locals, but considering the location, decoration, and service, it felt worth it. When we wanted to take a group photo, the waiter happily helped us and even took many pictures with different angles and zooms. Overall, it was a lovely experience with great food, a royal atmosphere, and excellent service. Highly recommended for special occasions or if you want to enjoy a nice meal with a beautiful view.
Thae P — Google review
This place just reopened after being closed for a while. We came with a group and had the set lunch. The food was typical Burmese food eating with rice. Food was average, it's what you'll typically get in an eatery/tea shop. The decoration and architecture interesting, but it's not authentic or old, some might see it as kitsch-ish. I wouldn't go during lunch time if you want to take pictures outside because the sun was very hot. It's also located in a large park complex next to the lake so it's also cool to walk around without coming inside for food.

Meliá Yangon is consistently rated among the top luxury hotels in Yangon. The front office is often praised for helping with extra requests (airport transfer, flight confirmations, upgrades when possible, helping with late check-out depending on availability). The breakfast buffets are especially well-regarded — plentiful, with good variety, fresh food, and high standards. Dinner buffets / restaurant meals are also well-liked. Some guests say the price compared very favorably for what’s offered. The rooms are described as very clean, well-maintained, and spacious. Housekeeping staff often get thanks for keeping things tidy.

The hotel offers the fastest complimentary Wi-Fi in the country and features an outdoor pool and a fully-equipped Fitness and Recreation Centre.
This was one of the best hotel experiences I've had. The service was fantastic. They did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable and did not need anything. The breakfast in the morning was incredibly varied having stations for Japanese, Indian, Western, and more. The rooms themselves were really well taken care of and very comfortable. I will be staying again if I am ever in Yangon.

I was impressed when I received an email before my arrival to assure me that the extra bed is taken cared and ready when I arrived but was a little disappointed when i walk into the room and it was not ready. Informed the front desk a few times before the bed is put in place and additional set of cups, toiletries were set up. However, that said, overall it was a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and helpful and make us feel very welcome. They were also helpful with booking the cabs to our restaurant booking one of the night. Thank you!

We have had a very pleasant experience in general. Excellent service, very friendly and helpful staff. Good sized rooms, clean and quiet. Excellent location. Pleasant lounge area. However, we have major complaints about the bathroom: very difficult to get in and out of the high-rim bath tub (walk-in shower stall preferred), toilet is inefficient, water drains from sink with undesirable noise.

Overall, we enjoyed the service of the staff the most. Our room had lovely views of the city and the Horizon Club did not disappoint. Excellent service quality. Our only concern is that the hotel could use a freshen-up. We stopped in for drinks or dinner at The Strand and Rosewood and their feeling is of luxury is classic, yet contemporary.

The Strand is where Yangon’s colonial past quietly lingers in polished teak floors and hushed hallways. It isn’t flashy, but it doesn’t need to be — it’s all about calm, discreet elegance. My stay was made memorable by people like Thae Thae at reception, whose warm welcome set the tone, and Yadanar, my butler, whose quiet attentiveness made everything effortless. Rooms are spacious and timeless, with high ceilings and old-world details balanced by modern comforts. Breakfast in the café is unhurried and refined, while the Strand Bar is perfect for an evening drink as the city’s humid dusk settles in. In a city changing fast, The Strand remains reassuringly steady — a small, enduring corner of grace and history.

🗝️ The Strand Yangon • Myanmar 🇲🇲 Always a nostalgic feeling when staying in an awe-inspiring Colonial landmarks. ‘Past Meets Presents’ if you are into luxury and old-world charm type of staycation. Built in 1901, this hotel is famed for likes of Raffles Hotel Singapore and Eastern & Oriental Hotel. In which, all these three famous hotels were built by the Sarkies Brothers. And yes, we have been to all of them. On top of that, The Strand Yangon is the 27th historical building in Yangon commemorated by a blue plaque or a historical marker by (YHT) The Yangon Heritage Trust. Our suite room comes with a personal butler, right in the middle of the building on the second floor. The staff were attentive to our needs. The only hiccup was the hot water in our room, understandable with the old building but can be better surely. So ecstatic to stay in one of the listed ‘Most Famous Hotels in the World’ — Checked and unto the next! #labonitaviajera #thegrumps #travellifestyle

The pool side and spa area are awesome. The salty pool just puts crown on top :) Original pieces of minimum age of 70 years gave us goose skin.. Have to thank to Grace, Mark and all of staff in hotel... They were absolutely great support during out stay on this hotel and without them it wouldn't be complete. Thank you for having us :)

I will start by staining I cannot comment on the rooms as I have not stayed there but was there for afternoon tea and also drinks in the bar. The drinks were great and I can highly recommend it but the afternoon tea was extremely disappointing. The food was dry and it felt like it had been frozen and defrosted. The bread was stale and one of the puddings was off. For such a highly rated hotel I would expect a lot more l, especially as for that price you could eat for a couple of days in a local good restaurant. We tried both the Myanmar and English versions and neither was great.

Excellent hotel, fantastic staff, breakfasts were delicious, everyday we had something different from the menu (this isn’t a standard buffet breakfast), the pool as like a heavenly retreat at the end of a hot day. Had a wonderful massage, therapist was excellent. Loved the decor, the rooms and personal Butler service, this was such a nice touch to have fresh pot of coffee or tea delivered 24/7.Only down side is the air conditioning unit was noisy, management might need to review this. Otherwise perfect stay.

Interesting facade that screams cool space and coffee... And it lives up to the expectations. I believe the simple test for a proper coffee shop is it's Americano (hot or cold). I can just recommend this place! The Cappuccino was very good, the Beef Burger comes along with Fries and Salad also very good. Perfect place to work, wifi is quite fast and nice atmosphere! 👍👍

Lounge
"The Vibe" and "Brave Bar" are popular party spots among affluent young people in Burma. Both places are free to enter and attract a lively crowd, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. The Vibe features DJs, while Brave Bar plays EDM music. Visitors have had positive experiences at both venues, with attentive security staff and reasonable prices for entry and drinks. The partying continues until 4 AM on weekends.
Experiences so far is excellent. The securities really take care of you in case any issues happens. Lively DJ and nominal rates for entrance and drinks... Gets going till 4 AM in weekends.
Harish K — Google review
Good DJ, Spacious place except when it gets crowded. Especially on Friday (That's normal right?). Four stars cause they asked to pay me back for a glass that I accidentally broke.
Mann K — Google review
I used to be here all the time, DJ is not that good and space is not that wide. Place to good to dance cos people going there is often good peoples.
James C — Google review
Nice place to have a weekend dance. Music is good Not too upscale Entry for stags is 10k Ladies as always get free entry
Jayesh P — Google review
Nice place to hangout with friends. DJ plays best song and didn't expect additional foaming party. So much fun
Nyein C — Google review
Too small place and dancing floor. I don't like this place. But if you want to tour night life of Yangon, you need to come here.
Pho L — Google review

Italian restaurant
SHARKY'S, with two locations in Yangon and a new one in Bagan, prides itself on serving food sourced from its own farms to minimize waste. The restaurant's emphasis on locally sourced produce reflects over 20 years of dedication. At the Pansodan Street location in Yangon, SHARKY'S specializes in top-notch steaks, grilled meats, and rotisserie dishes.
Perfect spot for bread meat and dairy

Had a chicken salad, worst I’ve eaten, an absolute joke - for 38,000! Sad chopped lettuce drowning in too salty dressing, with a few pieces of shredded chicken that tasted awful. Would normally have sent it out, but due to important table conversation I chose not to, as not to distract. Our friends had a pizza that they deemed tasty, and it looked decent, increasing to two stars. Joining other disappointed long time customers, mourning Sharky’s plummet to mediocrity. At best.
Timo M — Google review
Everytime we went to Yangon, Sharkys was our go to place. Many fine memories of eating the roast chicken, sharing a gluten free pizza (yes back in those days). And now this time we went to Yangon we invited friends that never had been to Sharkys before, so that they too could enjoy this gem of local Artisan food. But the chock of the disappointment!! We ordered a salad (which we have had many times before even as a take away when attending conventions in Yangon , they served crispy micro greens and a beautiful edible flowers with all their salads) to share and I am not exaggerating when I say this is the worst salad I had in my entire life! And for 38 000 kyat on top of that!!! We also asked for no bread and no croutons because of allergy, both in English and Burmese but we still got that. But that's ok, we live in Myanmar and are used with those kind of things. But we are not used of the name of Sharkys being humiliated with this tragic salad! Drenched in vinaigrette and salt! No freshness, no crispiness. The roastef chicken was more of a marinated mess... I actually do not have words enough for this disappointment. Thankfully our friends pizza was ok. The gelato was ok. But still not as it was "back in the day". And while things might not go back to how it was before, we understand that, they should adapt their menu. Don't lower the quality and higher prices. Instead offer fewer choices but whatever you do keep the famous quality! (After our disappointment we mentioned this to several of our expat friends who all said the same thing, that they've gotten so disappointed with Sharkys, so sad!) After a decade living in Myanmar, I think this was our official last time to eat at Sharkys😭 we might come back to buy the delicious Brie food in their shop👍🏼
Amanda M — Google review
The food was very average, and the pasta was too salty. French fries were thick cut, approximately 10, but very greasy. Service was relatively good, but given the restaurent wasn't busy, it was still quite hard to attract their attention. Overall the atmosphere wasn't very good, a failed lounge feel but with no background music.
Bryce W — Google review
Great quality food as always but the extremely bad service makes me not going there anymore after 10 years
Carl L — Google review
Good quality food but on the pricey side... Roast chicken is very tasty and good quality burgers. Main downside is there are always mosquitoes in the dining area upstairs. Not comfortable place to dine if you don't like mosquitoes.
BK B — Google review
Pricey but low quality food. Hygiene is really concerning, signs of moisture on the fridges where they store meat.
Mambo — Google review
Dirty in shop Only bread take away is good.

Cafe
Yatha Tea Shop offers a vibrant Muslim culinary experience with a variety of delicious dishes and classic tea. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with an array of sweets like samosas, mutton pastries, and coconut pastries to enjoy alongside hot milky tea. The friendly staff creates a welcoming atmosphere where visitors can relax and observe the bustling street life outside.
AMAZING food and tea. The very friendly owner (or manager? -- who looks like Inigo Montoya from "The Princess Bride") brought us platters of chicken and mutton pastries nearly as soon as we'd sat down at the table! We also had samosas, parantha (with chicken curry for dipping), and the delicious (Indian-style) tea, and walked out out of there entirely full and with smiles on our faces for 4,300Ks (just over $3 USD). Unbelievable. It's worth noting that the pin in this map is slightly wrong--it actually has its front on Mahabandoola Rd., slightly to the WEST of 39th St.
Evan I — Google review
Small tea house with a focus on fried delights such as paratha and samosas. Quick service and tasty plates but they lack tissues and the vibes could be better
Rovik R — Google review
Traditional Burmese tea shop with many snacks influenced by Indian cuisine. Very recommended place for tourist for knowing Burmese people daily activities.
