We came specifically for Red Velvet Cupcake and theirs is NOT Red Velvet! The taste is more like chocolate. See photos. The lady behind the counter said they do not use food coloring and that's why it's not red -- I get that -- but the overall taste of the cupcake including the frosting is not true Red Velvet. (By the way, with regards to food coloring, they had strawberry cupcakes with Pink frosting which clearly had coloring). If you're going to call it Red Velvet, make it Red Velvet! Overall, disappointing. ADDITION: The owner responded to my review defensively, stating that "Red Velvet is chocolate" to which Red Velvet masters would disagree. At the very least, the store needs to put a CLEAR description so customers know up front. It was only AFTER I brought it to their attention that they explained their version. There was ZERO attempt to rectify or offer alternative to my disappointment. They showed NO desire to offer a positive customer experience. Defensive and UNcaring.

By far, one of the best cupcakes I've ever had the pleasure of eating. I love this place! It's a small mom and pop business. However, their cupcakes are some of the best tasting and moist. My favorite cupcake is the Vanilla with lemon curd. My wife loves the Boston Creme cupcake. I live about an hour away, so it's a 2 hour round trip. I gladly make the trip for these cupcakes. Highly recommended. BEST CUPCAKES AROUND!!!!

Lavender Moon has been my go-to spot for cupcakes since 2013. There’s something about their cupcakes that are so different that it makes you want to keep returning. Maybe it’s the texture of the cupcake or maybe the unique flavors they offer, but one thing I do know for sure is that they use very good ingredients. You can literally taste the difference. They have a few staple flavors like vanilla bean with lemon curd that you can never go wrong with. However, I always try something unique like pistachio cherry or chocolate bourbon. Sure, I like some flavors better than other but I’ve never had a cupcake I could complain about from them. I would consider this place a boutique cupcake place since their flavors as well their interior design is unique and quite whimsical. The staff are nice but I think they may be nicer to regulars than new customers from my observation and input from my friends when they pick up an order for me. It’s a small place so I wouldn’t suggest bringing a large group here unless it is for take-out. Cupcakes are a priced fairly but definitely way more expensive than the ones you buy premade at the grocery store… but you’re paying for high quality ingredients and the taste is 100 times better. I can’t ever complain about their prices because it is simply worth it.

A definite must try for cup-cake lovers! Over a dozen different flavors ranging from biscoff, lemon curd, chocolate eclair, vanilla bean and lots more. Employee was super helpful explaining what each cupcake was made up of. Can buy a single cupcake or as many dozen as you’d like (in advance). Inside there is limited seating available (~7chairs).

I was surprised on my birthday with the cupcakes. I can't stop thinking about it. The red velvet is unbelievably delicious! It's definitely better without the coloring. You guys are a star! Thank you for making such a remarkable product and staying true to your product!

Friendly staff, quirky decor. Fresh flavorful cupcakes. I loved the density and the texture of these cupcakes. This was the first frosting I ate and thoroughly enjoyed. I did not get the vanilla bean flavor at all and I was looking forward to that opposite the lemon curd. We also bought the dreamscicle cupcake that was enjoyable as well.

I absolutely LOVE Alexandria cupcake. My heart broke the day I was trying to stop By and the storefront was gone. I believe they are working on another location on old town. For any hard fans still looking they have a second location “Fredericksburg cupcake” I believe. Either way the cupcakes never disappoint. Peanut butter cupcake goes CRAZYYY! Red velvet is always a banger and the icing is just to die for. And I’m typically not an icing fan. We need to support this business so they can come back to old town!!!

We were walking around town and wanted to make a quick stop to see what they had before heading home. There's a nice selection of flavors. We started with a small order: dark chocolate and peanut butter cupcake, chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes, and a chocolate cayenne crinkle cookie. Everything was delicious. Now the cupcakes are a little smaller, but the flavors are spot on. The chocolate peanut butter had such a light and smooth frosting, a little peanut butter cream filling, and the cake is a nice balance as the dark chocolate isn't too sweet. Cookie dough cupcake had a bit of the dough on the bottom, vanilla cake, and a denser frosting. Great textures. The chocolate cayenne cookie is pretty large, the chocolate is just right, and you noticed a little warmth of flavor from the cayenne in the beginning and the slightest hint of heat on the backend.

Really not sure how bad reviews even exist here. I’ve been coming here for years and they’ve been nothing but consistently delicious. This place is far better than the famous Georgetown chain. The cakes are moist and I swear I’ve never had icing as delicious as what they make here. I need the recipe! Yes the place is small.. everywhere in Old Town is small. There is still a table or two. Finally, I’ve never been met with anything other than kindness by the employees here. 10/10 please patronize this place.

Really good! I have to say that these are not the best cupcakes I’ve ever had, but if you’re looking for a sweet treat, these are very solid. They are a good size for a treat but not so big that they are ridiculous. Highly recommend!

I've been going to this place a lot over the past few months, and I absolutely love it. The cupcakes are fresh and almost melt in your mouth when you bite into them. I've tried their red velvet, vanilla, strawberry, and carrot cake and have not been let down. I definitely recommend this place and will keep coming back.

I'm a huge fan of Kilwins — their ice cream is usually top-notch, and I always make a point to stop by when I'm near one. That said, my recent visit to the Old Town Alexandria location was a letdown. I ordered a single scoop in a waffle cone, and the total came to $12.78. That price is steep, even for Kilwins, so I was expecting their usual high quality. Unfortunately, the waffle cone tasted stale, like it had been sitting out for a day or more, and the scoop itself felt smaller and less satisfying than what I’m used to from other Kilwins locations. I really want to chalk this up as an off day — and I’ll definitely give them another shot — but at that price point, every detail matters. Hoping for better next time!

Stopped in for a little treat and picked up a caramel apple and a coconut cookie. The apple was incredibly fresh, with perfectly ooey-gooey caramel. The coconut cookie was coated in toasted coconut and tasted fresh, but I didn’t realize it had an Oreo inside - since I’m not a fan, I ate around it. Most people seemed drawn to the ice cream section in the back. Overall, a great spot with a fantastic selection of treats for everyone!

We always love Kilwin's. My son got Superman ice cream and I got a toffee nut bar. Just going in the store is a feast for the eyes.

We absolutely loved this place! The best tasting waffle cones I’ve ever had with yummy homemade ice creams. Chocolates galore and creamy fudges. Plenty of chocolates for Easter treats! Customer service was top notch. Friendly employees that really care.

We had a white chocolate PB cup here and a Turtle Divinity Ball. I’m not sure that second name is right but it was close to the best sweet I’ve ever eaten. Delicious!!!! It was a mix of divinity and a turtle. I’m still thinking about it the next day! Yumm!!! The PB cup was pretty good too and very smooth. And the young man who took our order was very nice and prompt. My hubs was originally going for ice cream but $10+ for a cone prompted him to buy a small chocolate instead. It looks like they do make the waffles cones fresh there so perhaps it is worth it. I was honed in on the chocolate from the beginning and perfectly happy with that!!

Cute spot for tasty gelato with a bunch of fun, unique flavors! I dropped by Dolci Gelati with a friend on a warm Saturday afternoon, and it was the perfect way to welcome the start of spring. The gelato shop is located in the heart of Old Town right next to the town center, so it's incredibly convenient and perfectly located for a post-dinner (or pre-dinner) snack or to grab a bite to walk along the waterfront with. They have a bunch of fun flavors, but I had to go with their award winning fig and mascarpone scoop -- so good, and with such a fun balance of sweet and tart flavors from both the mascarpone and the fruit. We hung out with our gelato cones on Dolci's cute little patio, and it was the perfect space -- not too quiet and not too loud, with plenty of shade.

I visited this cream shop craving something unique, and they went above and beyond! I mentioned I was in the mood for a Matcha vanilla frappe, and they happily experimented to make it happen. The result was absolutely delightful—creamy, perfectly balanced, and refreshing. I truly appreciate their creativity and willingness to cater to my request. A wonderful experience!

Love their coffee and especially donuts. Lemonade is the must. The guy who served us that day was extremely nice. Really loved it and came back within an hour for the second glass of lemonade.

I might have said before that I'm not a coffee person, but I went with my family 'cause they wanted coffee, and wow, I'm impressed. I personally got the Affogato and loved it, even though it's not really coffee, but still totally worth it. The four of us all liked what we got.

Hmm, gelato or milkshake? Milkshake or gelato? Chocolate Hazelnut would be a treat to eat as-is but I'm craving a milkshake. Yep, I decided to ask for a milkshake. Stir, sip, yum! I meant, yuummm! The thickness and creaminess making my tastebuds happy. A few sips the hazelnuts did not chop small enough to pass through the straw, but that's okay. When you sip on the milkshake to its end you're treated with eating the last bits of hazelnuts that fell to the bottom of the cup. Having the milkshake made this a worthwhile treat 😋 BTW, the staff were nice and attentive too 🙌🏽

I visited Sicily for 2 weeks in September. I wanted to compare some here in NOVA so we checked out this place. I tried the pistachio gelato. We'll I'm glad they said it was pistachio because it sure didn't taste like it. Maybe some other flavors are better but I was disappointed.

The ice cream here is amazing! So many delicious flavors to choose from, and everything tastes fresh and creamy. The staff was friendly and patient while we decided what to get, and the service was quick. The portions are generous, and the waffle cones are a must-try.

No doubt the flavors there are delicious but the 3 stars is for the price of the cone like 18$ for kids cone, even though it had 2 big scoops and I was surprised 2 see these 2 scoops on a kids cone but i was more surprised after i paid. Just ask about prices before ordering!

Best Ben & Jerry’s I have ever been to. Mikael, the worker who gave me my ice cream was so patient with me. I couldn’t decide which flavor to try so I sampled just about all of them. He was so understanding and even told me about his favorite flavor, half baked. In the end, I went with his recommendation. Great service, great ice cream, and great people. 5 star experience. If you’re visiting old town Alexandria you need to stop by this ice creme spot! It is a staple for old town and has been there before I was born (I’m almost 30). You’ll be greeted with a friendly staff and you’ll get some of the best ice creme around. It’s great for kids or even for the boys after a couple drinks. James recently helped me out when I was there and made the experience even better with his great attitude and love for the job.

Brittany is absolutely incredible! From start to finish, she was professional, attentive, and truly went above and beyond. Her positive energy and genuine passion for what she does made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. She was not only knowledgeable but also took the time to listen and understand exactly what I needed. I felt supported every step of the way. [GREEN MOLD ON CAKE] Updated Review: I purchased the cake on 10/7 around 6 PM, close to the store’s closing time. I placed it in the refrigerator and ate a slice around 8:30 PM, where I discovered green mold on middle of the cake (see time and date of pictures taken-along with cake transaction). The next morning (10/8), after experiencing food poisoning. I immediately called the store to request that the rest of the cakes from that batch be removed from the counter, but I was told no manager was available the entire day. Even if the store doesn’t want to take accountability for the mold, it clearly shows a lack of proper food storage or handling, since mold does not develop within just two hours of purchasing a cake. (Original review): I was really disappointed with my order — I found green mold on my slice of cake, and unfortunately, I ended up getting food poisoning after eating it. This was very concerning and made me question the food safety and storage practices. I hope the business takes this seriously and ensures better quality control so no one else has to go through the same experience.

First of all, the young man behind the counter was so friendly and helpful the moment we walked in. His cheerful personality made our entire visit so wonderful! Second, the selection of gorgeous pastries was amazing. We had a hard time choosing! Ended up with a chocolate mousse cake and a raspberry bar and a bunch of macarons to take home. Finally, the decor is so elegant and chic. Such a beautiful spot. We will return very soon!

Ordered a custom birthday cake (sugar free/diabetic) in advance. Joseline responded in email that it would be ready for the event. I followed up twice in email to confirm and they confirmed it would be ready. Day of the event, they didn’t have the cake and staff spent some time on the phone trying to figure out what happened, and I was further late for my event. I emailed saying my cake order was forgotten by the bakery, no response. Emailed again, they said I can come in for a free pastry instead of a free cake, after I communicated before that I can’t have sugar which I reminded again. I’m so glad I didn’t order a bigger event’s custom cake from this bakery, like a wedding cake. Definitely would not risk ordering a wedding cake from here. Disappointed how disorganized this process and outcome was, and how there was no understanding that a promise was broken and that they should make up for it without me asking for them to.

The place itself is cute but it does have a weird smell and the bathroom was kind of dirty. Worst of all though was tts vanilla vanilla cupcake I ordered. Nearly $6 for one. It tasted days old The frosting was supposed to be butter cream but tasted like refrigerated crisco:( the cake itself was dry and stale tasting. Ugh!

Had mild expectations but unfortunately it is not a good bakery. My wife and I ordered cafe au lait, an almond croissant and a cinnamon raisin. This was arguably the worst croissant I've ever had - it was not flaky and had a dough filling inside it. See picture. The cafe au lait was had a burnt taste. Would not recommend. The establishment has parking outside and there's plenty of seating available inside with a small patio setup outside.

Great looking and nice variety of pastries and breads. Coffee options and the coffee itself are good. Only two varieties of Smoothies but the Mixed Berry is tasty. Reasonable prices though, for Old Town anyway. Greeted nicely when entering the shop. The outdoor seating feels too close to the parking. They could better delineate their outdoor seating area with a little wall or fence. Otherwise, will definitely be back.

Very impressed! Pricing was great. Got a ham & cheese croissant which was delicious. Cafe mocha which was rich/tasty and a chocolate croissant which was good but could’ve used a bit more chocolate. Overall would definitely go again, enjoyed very much.

Reasonably priced bakery with a wide selection of pastries, cookies, cakes, and assorted small packaged treats to go. $5 cake slices and $3+ for most individual items. They have outdoor seating but the view is of the gas station and traffic. Decently made treats for the price although on this day the indoor seating felt like it was heated for a very warm day.

My birthday surprise today was the delivery of two bags full of delicious pastries that just had to be shared with friends. All arrangements were made over the phone from Massachusetts, and everything was perfect. Great customer service and made-from-scratch pastries that melt in your mouth.

First time here. Poor customer service. No easy way to see the breads to get an idea of what we wanted. Did purchase the honey wheat bread. The reviews of friendly staff and of the bakery brought us here. Was surprised by our treatment. Was finally happy to discover a true bread bakery besides the Amish and Farmers Market. The Honey Wheat Bread is delicious. Will consider a future purchase to see if it was an off day.

Great service and genuinely lovely helpful staff. I LOVE they're free samples. We always buy their rosemary garlic sourdough. This time, we tried the garlic herb butter, and it's amazing!

I visited the store after hearing rave reviews about their cinnamon rolls, and the experience was underwhelming. The roll, even though it was baked that morning, tasted old. It was super dry, too sweet, and it was so hard to cut even though I warmed it to make it more gooey. It was impossible to eat. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this pastry.

They were so kind as to put their last two cinnamon roll aside so that we could pick them up later. Super friendly service. Interior was a bit confusing as it was totally full of cardboard boxes. The cinnamon rolls were wonderfully loaded with i ing…definitely not stingy with that. The overall taste though was ok, really (too) sweet and the dough of the roll tasted a bit not so fresh. It was nice to try, but I wouldn’t order it again.

The store smelled wonderful upon walking in. Got the Cinnamon Burst and Pumpkin Spice breads. The cinnamon burst is packed with delicious cinnamon flavor in every bit. I'm usually not a fan of pumpkin spice foods, but I tried it. It was very moist and the pumpkin isn't overwhelming. It was the right amount! This place will be added to my favorites.

I returned a small loaf of this store's Honey Whole Wheat bread. It had not been given enough time to raise properly. I spoke to the owner. She said she was aware of the bread batch yesterday, but "sometimes that happens." Yes, that does happen. It happens when the batch is poorly raised, possibly because it's a cold day in the kitchen or the yeast is old. You raise the heat, you give it more time or both. You do not, however, "just bake anyway." That's what separates the GOOD bakeries from places that deliver a "1-star loaf." I shared this with her as kindly as I could, but she did not seem to grasp it. I left the very dense, heavy loaf with her. She didn't offer my money back or to replace the loaf. She asked if there was anything she could do, but I was so shocked that she was rationalizing her poor baking that I didn't ask for a replacement loaf (Would it have been any better? Seems unlikely. It was colder today.) She said I was welcome to look at any loaf before I took it home. In the past, I trusted Great Harvest to bake a proper loaf. That is over for me. I will be looking for a different bakery, which is sad, because I rarely get bread and when I do, I liked their breads. But I can't face another loaf of un-risen cooked dough because the owner thinks that "just happens."

It was good, but I was actually not super impressed! I've gotten their pints at the store before and loved them, so me and bestie went here for ice cream and it was good, but didn't meet the standard of even the store-bought pints! So weird. But, ice cream is yummy. 😋

Good ice cream I don’t eat much sweets but it’s always a pleasure to stop into a Jeni’s and grab a half scoop/kid’s scoop. There is sometimes a line out the door but it moves pretty quick. I’ve been to this location and the one in Shirlington. The service is much better here which adds to the experience.

We love the homemade ice cream here. Lots of unique flavors - we tried the new opaque flavor. It was a hit! Kid friendly, always busy - but we found seats for part of 6. Place is clean staff is great and they offered a military discount. Great value for high quality ice cream!

I was out walking errands today and knew my fav places were closed on Mondays soooo I stopped in Jeni's only because it was highly rated. Let me start with my overall thought before I get into it. SHORT ANSWER: For me, the serving was small, the ice cream was too sweet, the ice cream had ice/frost crunch to it, and it was not a good value. In short, this is kid-style ice cream but the parents should cry at the price they pay. STANDING IN LINE: When I walked up to Jeni's and saw three counters of ice cream from the back of the line I got excited that I would get to choose from many flavors. Uhh, when I got up to the counter I was faked out because each counter had repeating flavors with these fluffy names that market to kids. FALSE LINES: The line was artificially long because everyone stop at the first counter and the staff do not guide folks to move down to accommodate customers in line behind them. The line also gets long because everyone ask to sample several ice creams because the ice cream title tells you nothing of what it is. When I got to the counter I kept asking the staff to tell me what the ice cream were like Texas Layer Cake and Popcorn Butter Brittle tells me nothing. You'd think they would use their signage to describe what each ice cream contains to slow folks from having samples and asking so many questions. Ice cream should not be this hard. MY SELECTION: After 30 minutes standing in line I got one scoop of a safe flavor that's technically Vanilla (I don't recall what they call it), and one scoop of Texas Layer Cake in a waffle cup. For $11 I was stunned how small the scoops were. I am value spoiled because for that price my fav places pack the whole cup. THE TASTING: Now I dig into to see what's the high rating all about. Hmm, well, the waffle was really thin and not much flavor. The scoop of vanilla was small and had ice bits in it. The scoop of Texas Layer Cake was technically chocolate ice cream with a little cake bits in it. I am unsure why they call it layer cake since there was nothing layered about it -- misleading fluff. Both scoops of ice cream were small and really sweet. I say this because halfway eating the ice cream I was getting a headache and my watchband got tight. I had to loosen my watchband and immediately drink electrolytes to offset the sugar. Overall, Jeni's is not for me and I will not return.

Always drive past here for work, but not today! My partner and I stopped in and we weren’t disappointed. The smell of waffle cones hits you before you even walk in the door and is intoxicating as soon as you step inside. It was busy at the time we went, but didn’t have to wait long at all; it gave us time to look at the extensive list of ice creams. The service was just as great as my lemon bar waffle cone. We will definitely be back to try some more dairy free options!

We were underwhelmed here. The chocolate was good but very expensive. Our double espresso, espresso with steamed milk, and 8 pieces of chocolate was $29 before tip. The vibe felt unclear if they were going for a high-end chocolate shop or a casual coffee bar.

These folks make the best (the absolute best) chocolates I have ever had… and I am a chocolate connoisseur. Not only is the flavor unmatched, but some of their designs are perfection. The macarons are also top tier by a landslide. Friendly staff, adorable little shop, great small business. I absolutely need to stop back more often.

After more than eight years this business is closing. The owner let us in even though his open closed sign said closed and he made us good Americanos and was very nice to us. It's always a shame when a small business that survived the COVID pandemic closes and we are sad to see him go.

Had the chocolate gelato and the Napoleon!!! We were craving dessert and we are so happy to find this place! The owner was kind, polite and generous! He allowed me to sample the gelato and at checkout gave us a sample of the hazelnut chocolate treat! The packaging is sophisticated and I’ll be back to purchase gifts for friends! the packaging is perfect for romantic night or to be ready for a gift for anyone with a sweet tooth. I love this place! Also you can ask for a free sample of the gelatos!

So glad I came by to get some dessert. I tried the carrot cake, decadence cake, bourbon chocolate cake, and Oreo cheesecake. All were good but decadence really stood out, must-try for chocolate lovers. I also tried the tiramisu chocolate truffle but that was just ok for me. It was a little harder than expected but can be due to cold weather.

I had an amazing experience at Fresh Baguette! I tried their Norwegian crowgel, which is a delightful blend of a bagel and a croissant, filled with smoked salmon, cucumber, chives cream cheese, and spring mix. It was absolutely delicious and had the perfect texture. I also loved their passion fruit juice, which was a refreshing touch. A huge thank you to John and his team for their warm and respectful service. I can’t wait to come back!

Walking into this shop instantly brought me back to last fall when we spent 10 wonderful days in Paris. I looooooove everything they have to offer! Pastries are my biggest weakness, and I’m pretty savvy when it comes to good baked goods in NOVA — this place absolutely delivers. Thank you for opening one near us… oh boy, I’m in trouble now! But that’s okay — we only live once. The French music, the cozy atmosphere, and the incredibly reasonable prices for such amazing flavors make it a true gem. 🥐🇫🇷✨

Their croissants were so wonderfully flakey and indulgent! I ended up stopping by for breakfast twice during my trip - once by myself and another time with my family. I really enjoyed the seasonal pumpkin croissant and recommend it for anyone that wants to add a delightful seasonal treat to their trip :) I enjoyed my croissant and cappuccino at one of the benches by the river ☺️

Absolutely wonderful. I can't talk enough about how fantastic the pastries were; light, flaky, and full of delight in every bite, AND not only were they delicious, but they were beautiful to look at it as well. The only thing that could have added to this experience would have been some outdoor seating. The area is charming and the weather was perfect, so sitting outside would have put this morning's visit over the edge. I highly recommend coming in!

Even the cappuccino joined the party, frothy and bold, while the staff treated us like long-lost cousins bearing gifts of warmth and flaky pastries. If fate ever plants us here, we’ll morph into permanent fixture —sipping espresso, nibbling sourdough, and high-fiving the dawn at this magical carb sanctuary. 10/10, would carb-load again. This place looks, feels and smells like a genuine boulangerie(bakery) in Paris. The pastries we got all tasted great and were priced alright (Nutella Croissant, Choco Croissant, Spinach & Prosciutto Quiche, Quiche Lorraine).

Nice interior but only okay-ish food. Small meal size for its price, not a good value. Scrambled eggs were tasteless and extra bacons were so tiny they surely didn't worth the extra dollars. Coffee was good so as the french bread being provided. We also tried one of those huge cookies, it was great but a little too dry. Service was a little bit slow but kind. I wouldn't return for breakfast only for some pastry and coffee maybe.

Cute place to come for brunch or to have coffee with some kind of pastry. Portions seem small and there was no “side dish” option. Not a place to come when super hungry but everything was delicious. The Sunny Side Bowl had a fun mix of vegetables. The bread tasted fresh. The coffee was ok and you get your own little carafe of coffee and the cups have no handle. All I will say is...it’s something different. The waffle, although small and expensive for the size (MYO), was like eating a perfectly moist light cake with a crunch on the outside. My friends called it an “old fashion donut waffle.” So good. The syrup was tiny but once you took a bite, you realize that you may even ruin it adding it on. It included whip cream, the texture of a thick and real fresh version of Cool Whip, and sliced strawberries. The mini pancakes were super cute and tiny bite size silver dollar shaped delights that sat under a snow of powdered sugar. I’m excited to return, not as hungry as today, and taste the Turmeric Latte.

Overall: Great place. This price French quinine is well prepared and the ingredients are top notch. The staff is professional... but not warm. French! It’s pricey and the seats by the windows really enable you to take in Old Town Alexandria.

Great breakfast items. A smidge pricey but I think they are well worth it. When you arrive you can just find a table and sit. Plenty to choose from and you can even modify the menu items. Customer service was good too. Try the lemon ginger tea and the turmeric tea. Both were quite phenomenal. Below is a quinoa bowl and steel cut oat meal with bananas. Enjoy!

Was there for a private breakfast event on the 2nd floor. The location was good and easy to park. The breakfast was very good and plenty of food. I would definitely consider hosting an event there the next time I’m in the Virginia/DC area.

This restaurant has quality meals and delicious pastries. I had the pleasure of enjoying a pad Thai zucchini noodle salad, which is pictured, and a mini lemon tart. Although it was a bit expensive for a quick-service style restaurant, the staff kindly informed us of the impending closing time and began cleaning without disturbing us.

Very polite and attentive waiter. Absolutely adorable atmosphere, it was like walking into a French bakery. Food and coffees were delicious and price was reasonable.

Ordered a red velvet cake for a birthday, and it was enjoyable. The birthday girl loved it, so that’s what matters. Maybe a *touch* dry for my liking. I was told I could pick up at any time, and upon arrival the cake had not been decorated, so I had to wait a while. Ultimately the decoration was beautiful, but I wish I was given a specific pick up time so that it would be ready.

We bought a challah and a cherry cheesecake pop tart from the farmer’s market and everything is so delicious! The pop tart pastry is so flaky and just melts in your mouth. 10/10

I recently ordered two cakes from Maribeth's Bakery and I couldn't have been happier with my experience. The staff, Nicole and Tom, were friendly and helpful when I placed my order over the phone, and the cakes were ready on time as promised. But what really blew me away was how gorgeous the cakes looked when I opened the boxes. The cheesecake I ordered for my mother-in-law's birthday was decorated beautifully, and the MB's Bling cake for our Au Pair was absolutely stunning. But the best part? They tasted even better than they looked! Maribeth's Bakery has definitely earned my loyalty and I'll be sure to return for all my baked goods needs. Thank you for the amazing cakes!

The cinnamon roll wasn't at all what it looked like in pictures. Dry and crunchy not ooie gooey. Flavor was alright but ended up just throwing it away. Blueberry Pop tart was fine. Too much crust but the filling was nice. The guy taking my order didn't actually respond to questions. It was kinda bizarre, like listen when someone is talking to you? But whatever who cares if the food is good sadly it wasn't.

You can never go wrong with cookies (or any other delightful treats) from Maribeth’s Bakery. We have been placing special orders with them since 2012 for everything from graduations to recitals to baby showers to promotions. The decorated cookies are a great addition to any event.

Most people know Maribeth's through their presence at the local food markets. And I like their products enough that I will go to this location to pick up cookies or quiches for events I'm hosting or attending. This is an industrial environment but it's a quick way to pick up their products if you need quantities.

TEN stars!!!!! Their baked goods are absolutely worth the money!! I love to bake myself (and enjoy it), and many times find when I buy baked goods I am underwhelmed by what I am eating. So far I have had MB's cookies (which are beyond beautifully decorated) and several flavors of poptarts. They are phenomenal!! We visited their location on Colvin street, and Tom (I believe) was so friendly and kind. Next we visited them at the Old Town Farmers Market. Highly recommend. You can order online by 4pm the day before you want to pick up.

I had the pleasure of ordering from this store for my daughters 30th birthday today. We live in two different states. It was important to me for her to have a "birthday (cup)cake - on her birthday. Everyone loves "Nothing Bundt Cakes", as does my daughter. Her birthday cupcakes arrived a little shaken up. However, the general manager, Fatima was so gracious, apologetic, compassionate and most importantly, a problem solver. I did not want another 12 cupcakes to be delivered at all but she sent a consolation gift and a refund. It was more than a consolation gift, it was very thoughtful. I appreciate it! As my daughter said, "they are still delicious". Thank you so much!!!

Looooooooove these Cakes!! They melt in your mouth🎂🎂🎂🎂 the Duke street location is fantastic. Staff are SO nice...and always welcoming. Cakes are SOOOOOOO delicious. Their mini cakes are awesome - you can stop by for a dessert - lots of flavors and not have to by a large cake. The bakery is super cute and colorful. My Raspberry lemon and chocolate chocolate chip were exquisite! Go check them out 😋😋

I cannot say enough good things about Nothing Bundt Cakes! Their cakes are consistently moist, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether it’s the classic Chocolate Chocolate Chip, the rich Red Velvet, or the refreshing Lemon, each flavor has its own delicious personality. The cream cheese frosting is the perfect balance of sweet and tangy—light but indulgent. The bundtinis and mini bundts are perfect for parties or gifting, and the customer service is always warm and helpful. I also love that they offer seasonal flavors, which keeps things fresh and exciting. If you haven’t tried them yet, you’re missing out on a seriously sweet experience!

No one answers the phone at this location! Just horrible all around. I ordered a triplet bundlet tower via DoorDash. The sunflower was missing, the ribbon was tied on very loosely (have no way of knowing if the cakes were tampered with), the bag wasn’t stapled closed, and the cakes look and feel stale. Unable to address the situation because no one answers the phone.

Nothing Bundt Cakes is hands-down one of my favorite bakeries. Every cake is unbelievably moist, flavorful, and perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. The signature cream cheese frosting is truly next level. Highly recommend for birthdays, events, gifts—or honestly, just because. You really can’t go wrong here. They make it such a great experience! Amazing staff!

Lynnie and her team are simply incredible and their product matches from bundtinis all the way up. So delicious!!! We had a huge event with 200 and they showed up and showed out. Our guests are still raving about it. So so good!!

This was my first time visiting Nothing Bundt Cakes. I was welcome with a warm hello. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the store was very clean, neat, and organized. I haven't eaten the bundt cake as yet, but I'm sure it will be delicious.

Very personable staff and pretty solid sandwiches and bread. The muffins are too rich for me, but everything else is tasty. Nothing fancy during the day, but they have excellent Ethiopian food in the evening for a fair price.

A nice coffee shop, with a great selection of Ethiopian and Italian dishes. A surprisingly nice place to have a nice meal. Ethiopian food provides lots of good vegetarian and vegan options, dinner on the spicy side. In the fall or spring sit at an outside table for a nice meal in a nice environment.

Nice quiet space with good service and food. The coffee is delicious (light or dark roast); the breakfast wraps and sandwiches are very good. The only downside (not a deal breaker) is the potatoes, which have a funny taste. Overall a very solid spot for lunch and breakfast.

A nice little place to eat, something for the Vegans and Carnivores in your group. Some of our party had European some of us had Italian, we were all happy with the food. Leave room for dessert you won't be disappointed. The chocolate ganache is particularly good.

Surprisingly delicious and fun! Our waiter was friendly and helpful and the food was excellent! My friends and I all loved our food and we all chose from the Ethiopian menu. Chicken infillay, Beef Alitcha, Zilizil Tibbs, and the Doro Watt all delicious! We had samosas for appetizers, excellent!

Usually friendly and usually very good service - and, to management's credit, an honest attempt to reach out and make up for a less-than-satisfying experience recently. The food is very good, as is the coffee. All told, a very nice place run by good people.

Wound up here for brunch when our first choice was way too full, and we were not disappointed. The california omelet was delicious, and the organic Ethiopian coffee was a wonderful surprise.

We've loved everything we've ever gotten from here, but I want to give huge kudos to Chef Miguel at the Slaters Ln location. He took over for Chef Kate on the order of our daughter's smash cake and did SUCH an incredible job!!! It turned out even better than I had hoped! He was very thorough and professional over the phone, and even invited me to meet him in-person to discuss my design ideas. He clearly listened to everything I said because the end result was just so perfect! I can't recommend him and the whole shop here enough. They continue to be the place we go for all of our family's special occasions and this experience reminded me of why. My sincerest thanks to Miguel and team for your expert care and craft.

Buzz Bakeshop provided the wedding cake for my and my husband’s reception, and we could not have been happier with it! I’ve actually been going to Buzz for years, so I knew early on I wanted them to provide the cake for my wedding. They provided us with a beautiful coconut cake with raspberry buttercream filling and vanilla frosting, and my sister-in-law, who’s a professional baker, even commented on how delicious it was! My only regret was not saving a piece to take home for me and my husband before our guests devoured it!

I’ve always had a good experience with Buzz - friendly staff and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS baked goods. However, my recent experience takes the cake (😉). I ordered a custom cake through their online ordering service (which I’ve used many times). When I received The text that I could go pick it up, the bakery had zero record of my order and did not have a cake prepared. They had a cake ready within three hours for me with not one percentage point less in quality. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, calm, and so helpful. This is a small business… This is community… Shop local.

I had the BEST experience with Buzz Bakeshop! I was having a book launch party and wanted a cake with the book's cover image on it. The staff was super helpful (and friendly!) over email explaining my options, and when I picked up the cake, I was stunned by how gorgeous it was! Also (perhaps most important), it was DELICIOUS and everyone at the party loved it!

I ordered a birthday cake online because they were the only bakery I could find with a dairy free and gluten free option. BEST CAKE EVER. It wasn’t just a good gluten free cake - it was a fabulous cake! I’ll order again when I am next in town undoubtedly. That no-dairy buttercream is amazing!

The Hello Dollie bar was delicious! I love a good dessert, so I tried this place out on my way through. We loved the Hello Dollie. We also tried a red velvet, mocha, and carrot cupcake. They all tasted pretty good, but thought the frosting was a little buttery and very sweet for our liking. The staff were quick to greet us and very helpful.

Really great bakery! Desserts are exceptional. Unfortunately my biscuit was burnt so giving a lower rating but egg and cheese alone still tasted good!

I am super excited to finally find a place that offers so many appealing gluten free options that it will take several visits for me to try them all. Recently on my first visit, I enjoyed the peach-mango turnover & took home a chocolate chip cookie & lemon sugar cookie. All exceeded my expectations! Even my husband who is not gluten free enjoyed his vanilla with chocolate frosting cupcake so much that he ordered another. I cannot wait to visit again, dine in for breakfast & take more goodies home :). Oh and Dylann who served us was such a pleasure to talk to!

I have always loved the happy tart, it’s been my gluten free haven for years. The new owners have made it even better! The atmosphere is friendlier, they’ve made this amazing kids corner, they’ve expanded the menu. The coffee is delicious instead of always burnt like it was before! They’ve also extended the hours which is amazing! Definitely worth a stop!

They did an excellent job on the cookies for my wedding! They were a bit pricey and they did need a good amount of lead time, but they turned out perfectly.

We ordered our wedding cake through The Happy Tart bakery, and it was absolutely stunning! It looked gorgeous, well beyond our hopes and dreams. And it was delicious, too! Our guests couldn't tell that it was gluten-free; many of them said it was the best wedding cake they'd ever had. There wasn't a single piece left at the end of the night! If you're looking for a beautiful, delicious gluten-free wedding cake, work with The Happy Tart -- we cannot recommend them highly enough!

BEST GLUTEN FREE BAKERY!!!! Do not miss out on this amazing place!!! The pumpkin rolls are absolutely unbelievable. I went back day two and got more because I couldn’t stay away. The biscuits and gravy was the best I’ve ever had and my non gluten free friend agreed. The cinnamon twist was good and the crepe. Going back I’d order the pumpkin roll and biscuits and gravy over and over again. Nutella strudel also amazing. I’d had it at a cafe in the city and didn’t realize they bought from this place. WOW. Prices were reasonable. Employees were kind—the cashier offered to refrigerate my rolls while I ate my meal. There’s a sit down area inside, be aware it gets busy on the weekend and the line can be out the door. Can’t wait to be back on the East coast to go here again!! I have been going to Happy Tart since they opened their location in Falls Church. I work nearby, and as a gluten-free person, it's always been a treat to have them so close. The sweets are good, the food is tasty (especially the crepes), and the staff is friendly. HOWEVER, the prices have gotten out of hand. I was charged almost $11 for a 16oz matcha the other day. Everything is extra... dairy-free alternatives are $1, flavors are $1, even having your drink iced is an extra 25 cents, not to mention a service fee and the Falls Church meals tax on top of regular tax. I understand some of these charges are unavoidable, but it's hard to support local businesses when I could go to Starbucks or DD for half the price. Even a Rare Bird matcha up the street is $2 less. Just watch what you order here because all the fees really add up.

Spent time picking out cake and cupcakes. sent several pictures and was told it could be done not an issue. Paid extra for design and cake was nothing like I ordered. No name, no decorations, no 1 for first birthday as ordered. Cake was rust colored when it should have been white with sesame street decorations. Total embarrassment for a children's party. Cupcakes were rust colored Elmo's not red, RUST. Not sure how you could have won cake wars. Buyer beware!!! Go elsewhere. I wouldn't have done this review if call or emails were answered.?

Called the night before my daughter's 13th birthday to inquire about ordering cupcakes. Were informed that there was no need to order that we could pick up the cupcakes on the day of the birthday. When we arrived, we were greeted by no cupcakes, no new orders and the place was closed. Not exactly what we were told 24 hours prior. Certainly won't go there again.

UPDATE 12/5/2017: Sabrina, the owner, posted on FB that Occasionally Cake is permanently closed. I stopped by yesterday and today, and both days, the CLOSED sign was on the door with no explanation. I even tried calling before stopping by today. Fortunately, the woman there told me that they are closed due to change in management, and that she doesn't know when it will reopen. I asked if she could update on Facebook and their website to inform people of their status. She said to send them an e-mail to check on the status, and that they are pretty good at responding to e-mails. It doesn't make sense why they can't do it. My first experience with Occasionally Cake was not great. It was this past Summer. I purchased 2 Groupon certificates for a dozen of cupcakes each. I was surprised by the very limited cupcake selection – 3 to choose from and all were made with chocolate cake. I was surprised that the decoration on 1 flavor of the cupcake was very unprofessionally done. The cupcakes were very dry, and nothing special. I wrote a negative review on their Facebook page, and Sabrina’s response very professional until she commented that it is people who leave negative reviews that could put them out of business. I have always thought selling bad products and/or services is what put a business out of business. I decided to give Sabrina another chance. After all, I have 1 more Groupon certificate left. Yesterday, Tuesday, I arrived at 3:30 and found a CLOSED sign hanging in the window. Today, I tried calling a couple of times, no answers. I decided to try my luck, and the store is still closed. This time, at least there was a woman there who could told me what is going on. If the store is closed indefinitely, communication is extremely helpful, especially, when they are still selling cupcakes and cake decorating classes on Groupon. The cost, even with the Groupon Deal, is not cheap. Not knowing when they will reopen, I am losing time on using the Groupon certificate before it expires. I will notify Groupon and post this review on their Facebook page so that people can at least be informed. My feedback for the new management is – improve the quality of the cupcakes, be available during store hours, and improve communication.

GROUPON BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!! I purchased a Groupon for the cupcake decorating class back on September 3rd. I've called several times trying to reserve a spot for a class with no luck of an answer during any "Business Hours". I've left messages and never heard back from anyone. I finally called Groupon and was told that they had received many complaints and it was being investigated. Thankfully, I was able to trade-in the $55 value and use it towards a different Groupon. Save yourself the hassle and give your money to a business that actually cares about their customers!

DO NOT buy a Groupon for the cake decorating class. After difficulty setting up a date, seven of us showed up on the morning of the class and not a single person from Occasionally Cake came. The shop stayed closed. We didn't even get an email or call of apology.

I bought a groupon deal for a cupcake class for two, planning to bring my little ten year old sister for her birthday. We called OC and got an appointment in Old Town, Alexandria and she was really excited to go. When we arrived at OC in Old Town Alexandria, we stood in front of an empty store. OC forgot to call us ahead of time and did not tell us that they just closed the store just one week ago. I called them. The woman on the phone was shocked, because someone was suppose to call us which DID NOT HAPPEN. The only thing she could do was to apologize, I was so upset. She didn't even try to help, she just said that we could use the money we spent on the groupon deal (55 dollars) for cupcakes. As if someone wanted to eat that many cupcakes?!!! After I asked for it, she offered me to send us a coupon for free cupcakes. We never received it. Mistakes can happen, but that they did not even sent us the promised coupon, I think they are horrible people. With a sad and disappointed 10 year old I had to drive home. If you want to get disappointed ,go ahead and visit this store. No wonder, they had to close the store in Old Town. If they keep that behavior, I am sure the second will be closed soon, too.

One word to sum up Occasionally Cake is Amazing. The cake is absolutely delicious, the cakes are beautiful, and the classes are phenomenal. The owner actually won 'Cake Wars' on Food Network. It is a must try!
