Bakery
Coffee shop
Baked & Wired is an artsy bakery and coffeehouse located in Georgetown, known for its signature granola and oversized cake cups. The cake cups come in various flavors such as Pretty Bitchin' peanut butter and chocolate, Karens Birthday chocolate cake, Texas Sheetcake, and Chocolate Doom. Despite the popularity of their cake cups, the bakery also offers delicious normal-size birthday cakes.
A large variety of cupcakes and all are delicious. Favorites are the Vegan Oreo and German Chocolate Cake (both shown). Can be a big line at peak times so would recommend coming earlier in the day. The coffee is good & everyone is very nice! Very limited seating.
Jamie S — Google review
Best cupcakes we've had perhaps in decades. We tried the "Chocolate Doom" and "Razmanian Devil" flavors and both cupcakes were exceptionally moist, light and airy with a perfectly balanced, and topped with a not overly sweet rich, creamy, smooth frosting, which enhanced the cake flavors. Worth going out of your way to try. See my posted photos if you need further pursuasion.
Howard S — Google review
The chocolate peanut butter and dirty chai cupcakes weren’t quoted as best sellers or favorites of the employees, but both were really excellent! The strawberry, dulce de leche, and blueberry lemon are popular choices. Our flat whites were excellent too. The employees were nice enough to explain what a tallat is (a Spanish coffee drink similar to a cortado) despite the long line behind us.
Andrew Z — Google review
We are visiting from Az and never just sit and go to a coffee shop but we were recommended to this place from someone who worked at the Barnes & Noble up the street and we could not be more happy with the recommendation. The coffee & the pastries are out of this world plus gluten free and vegan options are a plus. We have been here 3 times and if we lived closer we would be regulars!
Angela V — Google review
A Sweet DC Icon That Still Deserves the Hype Baked & Wired is a Georgetown must for anyone with a sweet tooth—or a serious love for great coffee. Back in the heyday of DC’s cupcake craze, the debate was always Georgetown Cupcake vs. Baked & Wired. Personally? I think Baked & Wired still wins. The cupcakes are generous in size, super moist with just the right amount of frosting (not too sweet, not too skimpy), and each flavor is paired with a cute, hand-illustrated sign that makes choosing feel like a mix between a gallery visit and a dessert decision crisis. The vibe? Artsy, bustling, and delightfully chaotic. Be prepared: it’s almost always crowded. I don’t think I’ve ever visited when it wasn’t packed. The line moves quickly, but it’s definitely not the place for lingering inside—unless you’re lucky enough to snag a coveted seat. I managed to grab a spot outside, which felt like winning a little cupcake lottery. Also worth noting: the coffee and tea game here is strong. So whether you’re stopping by for an afternoon pick-me-up or a treat-yourself moment, it’s always worth the wait. Baked & Wired is one of those rare places that has stood the test of time in DC—and continues to deliver.
Wendy M — Google review
The cupcakes were really good and so was the coffee. This place deserves all the hype. Good service as well.
Dinesh T — Google review
If you are going to get cupcakes in DC come here! We got the cherry blossom and the German chocolate and both were delicious. Both were soft and moist. Completely different tastes but both very good, and fit their names.
Alex D — Google review
BEST cupcakes in dc! These taste so fresh and delicious. I recommend these to anyone that visits or is looking for a sweet treat. My favorite flavors are the lemon blueberry, carrot cake and red velvet. They also have delicious coffee, biscuits, and their cheesecake brownie is to die for!! They were super helpful when it came to my mom’s allergy accommodations as well

Bakery
Cafe
Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats is a vibrant vegan bakery and cafe offering a variety of delectable treats, including cupcakes, pastries, salads, and sandwiches in a lively and relaxed atmosphere. The bakery creates an assortment of vegan cakes suitable for various occasions, from birthday celebrations to everyday indulgences.
We stopped by Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats in the morning, and while many of the cookies were already sold out, we were lucky enough to snag a Classic Oatmeal Cookie and a Chocolate Peppermint Sandwich Cookie. Both were absolutely delicious! The oatmeal cookie was perfectly chewy, and the peppermint in the sandwich cookie was subtle and not overpowering—just the right balance. My husband isn’t usually a fan of vegan treats, but even he loved his cookie, which says a lot! Parking is definitely limited, but we managed to find a paid street spot right in front of the store. However, if you’d rather skip the hassle of parking, the location is super convenient—it’s right in front of a metro station and bus stop, making public transit an easy and stress-free option. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was cozy, and the treats were worth every bite.

We were searching for a bakery that offered vegan desserts for a very special book-launch event. Our son just launched a book, "Harmony and Light: 10 Meditations for a Peaceful and Purposeful Life," that has a large focus on health and wellness, so, it was very important to us that the sweets be vegan and taste good! After sampling cupcakes at a few bakeries with vegan options, we decided on Sticky Fingers because of their wide selection of cupcake and cookie flavors and because their cupcakes were a good size (not too large and not too small). We ordered three dozen assorted cupcakes and 20 assorted cookies, and we were very happy in the end becuase our guests loved all the treats! The cupcakes were moist and tasty and the cookies were delicious. All the treats were very attractive. Our guests were pleasantly surprised to learn that everything was vegan and nut-free because everything tasted so good. The service was personalized and polite. The bakery filled our order in one day and everything was ready on schedule and in time for our event. We would recommend Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats to others seeking tasty vegan, nut-free sweets, and we will certainly order from this bakery again.

An attractive little shop offering a good number of vegan and gluten-free baked goods. Worth trying if you're in the area. Located very near to Donut Run as well if you're making a vegan pilgrimage to the area and have a sweet tooth!

I enjoyed what I got from sticky fingers. I love the rotating menus, making it exciting to come back and see what they have. I the inside is very small so it's definitely a takeout spot. The staff is excellent friendly and welcoming making it an easy recommendation. I will definitely be returning soon.
Dondré — Google review
A delicious vegan bakery located across the street from a metro station and close to multiple bus stops. Has awesome seasonal options as well as savory treats.

Do not go here. Stale baked goods and worse customer service. I was a regular customer for almost 10 years and due to my last experience I will never return and will no longer recommend this bakery. I ordered a cake for pick up and purchased cupcakes in store and they were very stale. I picked up the cake on Sunday, I called the bakery the next morning to get a refund and I was told the manager would call me back. I received no call back, so I left a voicemail later in the day. Still no call back so I left feedback via email the following day. Still no response. I called the bakery again on Thursday and was told I would get a call back before noon. I received a call back from the store owner, Doron, at 1:30 that day and was on the phone for 10 minutes because I was being questioned if I knew how vegan cakes were supposed to taste and that the cake was fresh. She asked for photos, I texted her photos. She still questioned me about how I served the cake to imply that it was my fault the cake and cupcakes were stale. She asked me to bring the cake in for a refund. I did, and was told by the manager Mel that the refund would be issued once Doron came in at 1pm. I even forwarded my receipt to Mel because they could not find my transaction. I texted the owner to let her know when I was coming in and when I dropped off the cake and received no response. Guess what? Still no refund. The name sticky fingers is fitting: they stole my money and refuse to give me a refund. Do not go here, they want to ignore customers to avoid confronting the fact they are selling old desserts. Edit: After emailing the bakery again and sending another text to Doron I finally got a response. She argued with me through text stating that she issued a store credit that Friday, but sent me a screenshot showing that the email was sent the following Monday to the incorrect email address. Then stated she never agreed to refunding me. I told her that I had evidence proving the opposite. Then she said she would issue the refund once I removed this review which I declined to do. She eventually did issue the refund. Between calls, emails, and texts, I contacted the bakery 14 times and 9 days later the refund was issued. I apologize for the long review but I felt a duty to warn others about this place.
Tatiana C — Google review
Had the chance to check out Sticky Fingers recently, so here’s the scoop! First off, the spot was super easy to find, but parking? Yeah, a bit of a struggle. The moment I walked in, though, the smell hit me—so good! I decided to try the s’mores cookie, and while it tasted great, it was a little harder than I’d like. Still, the vibe of the place was cool enough to make me want to come back and try more. Oh, and their business card? It’s literally a cookie. Genius.
Salomon F — Google review
I'm on vacation and I had heard about this place years ago and wanted to try as I enjoy supporting good vegan establishments. Apparently, the reviews are mostly old and not to be trusted, and unfortunately Sticky fingers does not really post updates on social media anymore so there is no way to know about daily menu items or any other changes. We took a 30 min. train to get here only to leave with nothing because the employee could not answer even the most basic questions. The only answer for all my questions was "I don't know". I was quite put off. And just so people know, there is no breakfast nor are there donuts on weekends in this location, as I had read in the reviews. Maybe they had/have another location, but the employee didn't know. Like I said, most reviews are months old and apparently a lot has changed. Also, the answers from what I assume is the manager to some of the less favorable reviews are appalling. Customer service is definitely not a priority here.

The CakeRoom is a quaint bake shop located in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington D.C. The bakery uses high quality products and prepares everything from scratch, making it a great choice for upscale weddings.
Was looking for something sweet near my Airbnb and found this jewel on a Google search. An incredible selection of baked goods, e.g., cake, brownies, pie and cupcakes. Bought two pieces of cake - Chocolate and Red Velvet - and they were both delicious. Pleasant customer service to go with a cool backstory of its founding. Good pricing and highly recommend.
Yazeed M — Google review
I ordered their dozen cupcakes for my sisters birthday because she loves cupcakes..... There was supposed to be one of each of their cupcakes and we were really excited to do a whole tasting thing in celebration with our kids. My sister loves chocolate and red velvet so I ordered an extra one of each chocolate cupcake. At the last minute they cancelled all of the chocolate extra cupcake orders and sent us a dozen of what must have been what they had left over for the day. They sent (vanilla/vanilla, salted caramel, coconut & another random vanilla looking cupcake. I understand if they got busy and couldn't fulfill the order. However, They never contacted me to inform me that they didn't have the order.... I would have cancelled immediately.... So now I will have to spend more money to buy a cake and the kids are super disappointed 0 out of 0 stars and $50 down the drain.
Thandeka M — Google review
I ordered a custom birthday cake here and unfortunately the entire experience was disappointing. From the start, the ordering process felt dismissive and rushed. I asked for a blueberry lemon cake — a classic and popular pairing — but the staff member insisted it couldn’t be done and that the flavors wouldn’t go well together. Instead, I was steered into choosing a lemon lavender cake, which ended up tasting unbalanced: the lavender was overpowering, and there was no lemon flavor at all. For the price of a custom cake, I expected a thoughtful consultation, where the design could be discussed in detail and the baker could explain clearly what was or wasn’t possible. Instead, with only one employee handling both customers and orders, I felt rushed and not given the time needed to plan properly. The final product itself was no better. The heart-shaped cake came out lopsided. I had provided a reference photo with the popular vintage piping style, but that was dismissed. What I received was messy, poorly executed frosting that did not resemble what I asked for. On top of the design issues, the cake itself was dry and the frosting overly sweet, making it unenjoyable to eat. Overall, the lack of care in both service and execution left me feeling like this was a waste of money. When you pay for a custom cake, you expect quality, communication, and attention to detail none of which were delivered here.

I went to pick up my cupcakes on Saturday and parked near a fire hydrant, thinking I’d run in and grab them real quick—only to realize I had placed the order for the wrong pickup date! Luckily, they happened to have the lemon lavender cupcakes my client wanted. Mikaela was so kind and had them boxed up and ready for me in under 10 minutes. Her customer service was a 10/10, and the cupcakes were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

Ordered with them on Too good to Go. After this experience, I will definitely be back. The person behind the counter was friendly. The atmosphere was super cute and the cake was amazing!! Definitely worth coming from VA for a sweet treat

Cupcakes didn’t have much flavor, my strawberry ones wasn’t as fresh they were stale, red velvet and carrot ones idk my daughter ate the rest. Will give them a try again one day.

i’m pleased with the employees attitudes and all but i just got a cake for my dads birthday & my biggest fear was paying $100 for a cake that consist of frosting and writing that i could of gotten from a grocery story . and to my surprise , it was exactly that. i was expecting alittle more for that price especially because it’s my dads birthday . this cake looks very basic . not worth it …and i’m irritated

We had a dinner reservation nearby so we popped in right before closing. The bakery case we well stocked with huge, beautiful cakes! The jars were full of cookies and everything looked beautiful. We got two cookies and two slices of cake to-go. Service was absolutely wonderful. (Aug 18, 2024)

Nestled in the vibrant Adams Morgan neighborhood, Rose Ave Bakery is a charming hidden gem that offers a delightful selection of classic American treats. The bakery's new location across from the Woodley Park metro station provides better accessibility and extended hours. Visitors can expect a variety of inventive and delicious Asian-American sweet and savory treats, such as passion fruit donuts, spam musubi croissants, matcha chocolate cookies, and mochi puffs.
This bakery offers a fast and friendly service. Their donuts are the best in DC. Unlike other donuts that are sweet and greasy, these are soft and chewy on the inside. I can tell they are freshly made because the bakery is filled with a delightful aroma of freshly baked goods. The sweet donuts remind me of my Taiwanese hometown, so I always order them. It’s not common to find Asian-infused donuts, so I highly recommend this place. Besides donuts, I also recommend their garlic scallion bun, which is similar to Taiwanese scallion pancakes. They also have high-quality coffee beans that they freshly grind for each order. The ube latte is a must-try.

I am so glad I stumbled upon Rose Ave Bakery because their brioche donuts are divine! Since I'm not from the area we had to try the Passion Fruit, Ube, and Pandan Coconut filled donuts. Not only are they visually stunning, but they have the perfect balance of donut to pastry cream. The Pandan Coconut was the fan favorite - flavorful without being too sweet. I hope to one day enjoy more of their Asian-American inspired pastries in the future. If you're in the area, Rose Ave Bakery is a must stop!

The Intern: When I read the reviews I thought that this place was going to blow me away, but in reality it had a smaller selection than most bakeries, and the food was very simple, but trying to be fancy in a way. I’m not a doughnut person and this was a place with a lot of doughnuts, so it wasn’t really my favorite. We got the Strawberry Passion Kouign Amann, Matcha Chocolate Twice Baked Croissant, Sugared Donut, and the Roasted Tomato Sambal Focaccia. The Strawberry Passion was a 7/10, very delicious with a passion fruit filling and a croissant-like texture. The Sugared Donut was very simple, nothing too fancy, just a donut with no filling and sugar on top. The Focaccia was OK, just a little kick of spice. It was a curry bread with tomato sauce. I really liked the decorations and vibe of Rose Ave.

Was recommended this spot. It’s a bakery with a Filipino twist, offering brioche donuts and cake slices similar to other Filipino establishments in the area. We arrived around opening and there was already a line. Service was friendly, and we sat outside. The pastries were fluffy and good, but in my opinion, not quite worth the wait or the price.

Rose Ave Bakery is a super cute and fun spot. You can find street parking right out front or nearby, and I was lucky enough to grab a spot right in front. When I walked in, it wasn't packed at all. I saw they had an ube latte, and I knew I had to try it. I also decided at the last minute to get the scallion, egg and cheese, and I'm so glad I did -- it ended up being my favorite thing. The ube latte was kind of a letdown, honestly. I wished it had more ube flavor and less coffee since the coffee overpowered the ube taste for me. It's a little on the pricey side, but honestly, totally worth it to check out, especially if you opt to get a pastry item!

I’ve heard so many good things about this bakery and it truly lives up to the hype. A favorite for me was the passion fruit donut and the garlic scallion roll. But everything was so delicious! Be prepared to wait in line but they move quite efficiently and quickly. I got the mango matcha and it had really good authentic matcha flavor (rare sometimes in cafes). 10/10 experience!!!

Really good bakery. The selection was good. The quality was good. The food was good. No complaints. We got there at opening on a rainy Saturday and there was a long line but it went quick (10 min). We got the following, with asterisks to indicate what we’d get again: - Pandan Coconut - Passion Fruit - Ensaymada - Saigon Cinnamon Banana Cookie* - Strawberry Passion Kouign Amann* - Strawberry Lychee Rose Donut
Jainif M — Google review
Cute place inside, food looks aesthetic. I got the garlic scallion egg n cheese, thai curry tarty, and a brown sugar latte. The egg n cheese left much to be desired. They do not make it fresh to order and is rather kept under a heat lamp. The egg tasted spongy and microwaved. The pastry was dry. And worst of all, the whole thing was maybe room temperature (hard melted cheese). The thai curry pastry is fine, nothing superb. The latte was good, had a strong coffee taste and was well made. The brown sugar syrup is quite good. Maybe their sweeter items are better, but the savory was severely lacking.

Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery is a casual New Orleans-inspired counter-service bakery and cafe located in Arlington. The funky setting exudes warmth and hospitality with its mini-living room vibe, complete with a playlist of brass band music and plenty of Big Easy-themed decor. The shop offers classic coffees as well as unique drinks like the cajun latte with bourbon, cayenne, and cinnamon.
Food was great here. I got the biscuits and gravy (Louisiana style) and everything tasted homemade and fresh. I followed that by a whole milk hot latte, pretty good. My boyfriend got a avocado toast, he enjoyed it. We shared the beignets and they tasted good they were not to sweet which I liked. We went on a Saturday which you can imagine was busy, but it was fast service. We will be coming here again for Brunch.
Fabiola C — Google review
Great spot for breakfast in my opinion. The prices are decent, but the service is slow due to the FRESH made to order food. This is not a fast food rush type spot. They are quick with some items but the more complex meal items they are making from scratch and you can taste it. Great to grab coffee and beignets or a biscuit sandwich.

This place is busy! Definitely order ahead. Breakfast sandwich was kind of small but perfectly proportioned. Think the bread type could’ve been more inspiring. Iced coffee worked its magic on me. Perfectly sweet but not too much. I’ll need to plan to go back to try their beignets and other treats.

A nice little corner brunch shop. Staff are polite and the food is delicious! Try their Louisiana style French beignets and biscuits! They are delicious! Coffee and hot chocolate are good as well!

Omg. I don't even know where to start. I've had beignets in New Orleans (Cafe Beignet) and the ones from Bayou Bakery definitely satisfied that craving!!! The mufaletta was everything I could ever want in a sandwich. It was piled high with quality meats, served on a delicious roll, with mayo and yummy olive tapenade. It was bursting with flavor, and definitely one of my new all-time fave hot sandwiches! I was torn between ordering this or the Arm Drip (roast beef Po Boy, looks similar to a French dip). I compromised and ordered the mufaletta with a side of the gravy that comes on the Arm Drip. (They don't actually have the option to order the gravy on the order online menu. I requested a side of gravy in the "notes" section (alone with extra mayo). It didn't occur to me that they have more than one type of gravy, ha! When I arrived to pick up my order, the lovely human who greeted me (Karla) asked me which kind of gravy I wanted, and was able to quickly add a small cup to my order for just $1. I dont expect much as far as customer service, because I know first-hand how rough it can be to work those jobs. You'd never know it based on my interaction with Karla. She was all smiles, extremely friendly and personable. It felt like having a conversation with a friend as opposed to a business transaction. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. I cannot wait to return and try more items. I definitely want to dine-in sometimes as well. The seating is somewhat limited but its got a cute ambiance. I definitely need to try their baked goods sometime. Oh! They sell yesterdays leftover baked goods for $2! How fun! Love that, because not only do you get a good deal with the "old" pastries, you know everything else is freshly baked that day! You can tell a lot of love is poured into this place, and the staff seem happy, so not only is it good for my taste buds, it's a place I am happy to support. Do yourself a favor and go try them asap! What my stars mean: 5 is outstanding, memorable, a place to write home about! A must-experience. Someplace I would love to reccomend to tourists, and visit myself again and again. 4 is great, somewhere I'd love to return again and again. Back-up reccomenation for tourists. 3 is good. A solid option if I am in the area. I may reccomend to locals, but would probably leave it off my list of reccomendations for tourists. 2 is ok, but only because it a great value, unique, and/or convenient. 1 means I would not return

This place is too small. The line wrapped through the cafe and made moving about difficult especially with the extra tables they have. We got a breakfast sandwich with ham and egg on a roll, a sandwich with sausage and egg on a biscuit and a seasonal scone (chocolate cherry). The roll sandwich was good but it was also the size of a slider, which made the price seem outrageous. The biscuit was a typical biscuit breakfast sandwich, we should have gotten some cheese as the biscuit was a bit dry. The scone was like the person that made the filling burnt everything.

My wife didn't love the flavor of her latte (but everybody has different taste preferences). The muffins and scones were enjoyed by all in my family. Service was good! Would definitely come back on next visit.
Jon H — Google review
One of our favorite spots for late weekend breakfasts. Biscuit breakfast sandwich with bacon is tasty, biscuits and gravy are savory, and the "Hungover Hog" is a filling and delicious meal. My fave coffee is the lavender honey latte. And the beignets? Oh my God THE BEIGNETS. All warm and fluffy and generously dusted with sugar. So, so good. Love the vibe, and the staff is always efficient yet friendly. Keep it up, y'all!

Bread Furst is a bustling bakery located in Van Ness, offering a wide variety of gourmet bread, pastries, cakes, and coffee. The team of seven bakers at this five-year-old establishment churns out an array of dark and crusty loaves including corn rye, multigrain, walnut raisin, rye teff, brioche, baguettes and more.
In all honesty, the chocolate cookies are ok. What makes this reviews five stars is the almond croissant. It was absolutely phenomenal. The croissant was flaky and buttery, and there was a plenty of almond frangipane inside. Also, the Cookie Roberts (shortbread with pecans) is very, very good. A lot of other good-looking baked goods and breads as well. We’ve also enjoyed pies from there before, and they were very good (got blueberry and peach). Great location and friendly service to go with their gourmet market, and you’ve got yourself a neighborhood favorite.
Steve C — Google review
Group of friends got lunch here and sat at the outside tables on a glorious weekday. Apparently the fresh loaves of bread are fabulous but lunch is mediocre. My premade beet salad with walnuts and gorgonzola and lots of fresh greens was tasty but the oatmeal cherry cookie was poor: overcooked and dry, zero taste of cherry and way too salty. A friend with the ham and cheese baguette said the baguette was fabulous but the meager portion of ham and cheese left him feeling as if he was just eating bread. Others who had gotten the bagel and lox were not impressed with the bagel nor the lox nor the other items on the bagel such as the mildly pickled red onion slice.
Carolyn F — Google review
Don’t order the runny egg unless you know you like a barely cooked scrambled egg that’s pooling in liquid. The English muffin or bagel gets drenched and soggy. And I like my scrambled eggs not fully cooked, but this is another level. We mentioned how both my wife and I couldn’t eat it to two of the staff and they were like “yeah, it’s called a messy egg, duh.” It’s even worse with the cheese - too salty. And the mashed avocado isn’t good either. Nor is the homemade lox. And the Counter Culture coffee isn’t amazing either. I don’t often write reviews like this, it’s just my 5th time giving these sandwiches a chance because I love this neighborhood gem and hold out hope I might like their breakfast as a treat once in a while. I love the retail options (though expensive) and the baked goods are great, which is why I gave 4 stars. And it’s expensive. And want to warn people away from the messy egg unless you know it’s your thing!

My uncle picked up plain and chocolate croissants for me to try. Place was crowed and outdoor seating is limited. Most disappointed that my croissants were on the burnt side. For a popular bakery I was not happy. From what I can tell seems like a very good quality set of ingredients, but to over bake pastries is just unacceptable. Chocolate chip Cookies were good and chewy. They offer wide variety of baked goods to try.
A H — Google review
Got the Ube Matcha which was very good, but it is on the sweeter side if you like that. I got a bagel with eggs and cheddar and the eggs were literally liquid. Couldn’t finish it because I felt I was eating raw eggs and definitely not my style. The bagel itself was good and the people working there were nice

Bread Furst is a true DC gem on Connecticut Avenue. The quality of everything—from the flaky pastries to the savory prepared foods—is exceptional. My favorites are the canelés and baguettes, which are on par with the best boulangeries in France. They also carry an excellent selection of European wines and gourmet delicacies that transport you straight to a market in Paris. Prices are definitely on the higher side, so it’s more of a Sunday indulgence than a daily stop—but always worth it.
Aari L — Google review
A dry and pre-made sandwich can be yours for $15! You won’t know that when ordering though- prices are hidden for everything. Looking for mayo/pickles/onions? Good luck - no add-ons available! The good news is the service - the cashiers seem to be wise to the fact that this place is a complete tourist trap, if only I had done more research beforehand. Definitely skip!

Un Je Ne Sais Quoi is a charming French-inspired bakery in the Dupont Circle neighborhood, offering a delightful selection of artful pastries and desserts. The stylish dessert shop specializes in cloud-like meringue and whipped cream pastries, along with homemade brioche, flaky almond croissants, and apple tarts. While seating is limited, patrons can take their treats to go or enjoy them at a sidewalk table while soaking in the bustling atmosphere.
This bakery is one of the best in DC. It was a bit crowded on a Saturday morning, but that’s a good sign! The enticing aroma of freshly baked goods filled the air, and the ice lattes were fantastic. Unlike most coffee shops, this one offers a delightful balance of bitterness and sweetness in its coffee. I didn’t add any sweeteners, and I loved the harmonious blend of coffee and milk. I ordered a croissant, raisin bun, and baguette, and each one was worth the wait and the price.

Where do i start… this is THE BEST bakery thats out there!! Amazing croissants.. almond, pistachio and ham & cheese is to die for !! Coffee with oat milk was amazing too. Can’t wait to come back!! I always bring secured bag back home full of goodies!

Update: visited again in June 2025, super impressed as always! This place is hands-down one of the best French bakeries and dessert shops in DC—a true gem right in the heart of Dupont Circle. The window display is always full of freshly baked, picture-perfect pastries, some of which I’ve only ever seen on TV. I’ve never been to a patisserie in France, but judging by the look and unforgettable taste, I’d be willing to bet it doesn’t get better than this around here. On my last visit, the pistachio croissant really stood out—it was flaky, rich, and filled with a creamy pistachio center that wasn’t overly sweet. It may be one of the best pastries I’ve had in a long time, and I’m still thinking about it to this day. Whenever I’m headed to a birthday party, I try to stop here to pick up some desserts, and they’re always a hit. Your friends will love you for this :) It’s hard not to just get that pistachio croissant every time, but I’ll do my best to try something new next time… maybe.

Unfortunately, the service was disappointing — one staff member who is a white female. She was unfriendly with eyes rolling when we ask for forks/knives. Visited 9/7/2025 Sunday 2:40 PM. Feel like I owe her $1 million. Pastries are good that I can give 5/5 if ignoring the negative services (please just let us do self-service order on machine, that will save your business money too) Recommend the pistachio Paris Brest which isn’t overly sweet and works well for Asian tastes. The lemon tart was quite sharp but I like it.

I've been to this French pastry shop many times, but usually, I get my order to go. This time, I came here on my birthday and chose the Chocolate Vanilla Cake as my birthday cake. It was my first time eating inside the shop. I love their desserts, though I haven't been able to try every kind yet. The Pain Au Chocolat, Chocolat Twist, Pistachio Paris Brest, and Merveilleux each have their own unique characteristics. I first learned about and tried the Merveilleux here. It has many layers, and each layer has a different texture. It consists of a sandwich of two light meringues welded with whipped cream, which has been covered with whipped cream and dusted with chocolate shavings. Overall, the desserts here aren't overly sweet and are full of buttery aroma. Even if you put them in the fridge and eat them the next day, they still maintain their excellent flavor. The store isn't big, and there aren't many seats, but the interior is warm and exquisite, making for a very comfortable experience.

Je Ne Sais Quoi: $92 Later and Zero Regrets I walked in planning to “just grab a pastry.” I walked out $92 poorer, clutching a box of a dozen pastries, a cappuccino, a latte, and a mango juice like I had just robbed Fort Knox in reverse. The pastries? Each one deserves its own Netflix documentary. Croissants so flaky I left a crime scene of crumbs on my shirt. Pain au chocolat that could probably start an international conflict over cocoa rights. A raspberry tart so shiny it looked Photoshopped. Almond croissants that should come with a restraining order because I can’t stop thinking about them. The drinks? Cappuccino and latte both hit smooth, no bitterness — the kind of espresso that makes you nod slowly like you understand French philosophy. The mango juice? Bright, tropical, and probably the only healthy thing I consumed, so I pretended it balanced out the dozen butter bombs. The staff were sweet, patient, and didn’t laugh when I pointed to basically everything in the case like a kid at Disneyland. Yes, I spent $92. But honestly? That bought me enough joy to forget gas prices, politics, and my to-do list. Worth it. Verdict: Skip the diet, skip the guilt, and bring a bigger box. Je Ne Sais Quoi has me hooked.

Amazing pastries, almond chocolate croissant was delicious. Wanted to try the pistachio chocolate croissant, but they ran out it. Worth every penny. Highly recommend!
Dobry D — Google review
I visit with my french friend and she loved it, me too!! The coffee is really good, I just had an Americano and added some flavor and it taste really sweet. Then we took a croissant, pain au chocolates and the yogurt puree! All of it was a 10/10! The only thing we would not recommend is the canneles, they were to hard. We do recommend to be here early if you come on the weekend , cause only after 20 min opening it was already super crowded!

Bakery
Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe is a warm and inviting German bakery and cafe that has been serving up delicious cookies, cakes, pastries, and sandwiches since 1975. Founded by Wolfgang Buchler, who hails from the German city of Heidelberg, this beloved bakery offers a wide range of year-round favorites such as apple, banana cream, blueberry, Boston cream pies and more. In addition to their regular offerings, they also have seasonal flavors like Dutch apple and pecan pies.
Update 26 January 2025: still an amazing bakery. Great options for Valentine's treats as well. Be aware they are super busy on Sunday mornings because they close earlier that day...1pm. Thanks for the tasty pastries! The Heidelberg bakery is everything you could want for German themed desserts and pantry items. This place gets really busy, so be prepared to walk in, grab a ticket, and enjoy looking around or finalizing your shopping list while you wait for your number to be called. Be ready to go when you number is called though because the team at Heidelberg is very efficient, while also being friendly; so do your part by being ready to state the items desired for your order. The desserts I tried were all good. I think my favorite was their éclair, but their cakes with fruit are delicious too. Limited parking is available at the lot in front of the shop and additional parking is available in a lot walking distance down the street. I would definitely come back. Thanks!

Everything here is delicious! We frequent Heidelberg for weekend treats so it was no question this is where we’d order our wedding cake. They set up a formal tasting that exceeded my expectations. We went in thinking we’d just have a 1-tiered small cake for the purposes of photos, but were convinced to get a full 3-tiered wedding cake and we do not regret it! The cake was delivered on time and safely and it looked absolutely gorgeous. Even better in person.

Easy to located. Minimal parking. Greatest section of pastries and sausages around. Fresh sandwiches are delicious. Marzipan treats are tasty. Good hot coffee too. Attentive, professional, friendly and plentiful employees eagerly wait to serve. I'm 45 minutes away so I dont get here often, but when I do, it's always a treat for the whole family!

Have been a fairly regular customer over last 10 years. Pastries, cakes, breads and nice variety of deli items tasty. Prices have gone up as mish as 20% on some items over the last few years. Customer service in bakery very good most days, even on busy weekends however for a recent large catering order, items (trays of soft pretzels and dozens of dinner rolls) brought out to car without and plastic covering! Had to request these bakery items be covered....not very sanitary to say the least

I can't say enough about how good this place is! Excellent pastries, cakes, bread, cookies... the list could go on forever( P.S. the cheese sticks are the best!!). Staff is super friendly and always wanting to help can you find exactly what you're looking for. I've been coming here for at least 20 years and now my kids come here. Just awesome.

My husband and I have loved Heidelberg for years, it’s our go-to spot. So we immediately knew we wanted Heidelberg to make our wedding cake when we got engaged! Cake tasting was so fun — the wedding cake coordinator recommended some traditional ones and a unique one. I gave her an inspo photo, and next thing I know, that exact cake was at our reception. It was absolutely beautiful and so tasty. We plan to order a mini version each year for our anniversary.

LOVE this German bakery. I gladly drive over 30 minutes to visit here a few times a gear. You HAVE to try the beer cheese dip and fresh pretzels. Their sandwiches are also great. My only suggestion is that they update their decor. It's very 1990s and could use some major updates.

Bakeshop is a cozy bakery with locations in Arlington, Falls Church, and Georgetown. They offer a wide variety of sweet treats including classic pies like pecan and pumpkin, as well as specialty flavors such as apple streusel and bourbon chocolate. In addition to pies, they also have icebox versions available in flavors like frozen hot chocolate and peanut butter Nutella. The bakery also offers bread loaves in various flavors such as pumpkin chocolate chunk and banana pecan.

Delightful little bakery with cute vibes and a phenomenal selection of treats. I first fell in love with the Georgetown location of Bakeshop for its variety of vegan and gluten-free items, and the Clarendon spot is no different. They offer a ton of standard, vegan, or gluten-free cookies, cupcakes, and cakes; each one is as delicious as the next. However, if you're in the mood for something savory (and distinctly non-vegan), their breakfast sandwiches are also delightful. I passed the Clarendon Bakeshop location on my way to the metro station on a Friday morning and decided to stop to treat myself to a nice, warm breakfast. I got their everything croissant -- which is perfectly flaky and comes studded with plenty of everything bagel seasoning -- and added a scrambled egg and slice of cheese. The egg was perfectly soft and fluffy, and the melted cheese helped to bind the whole thing together. You usually have to wait for a few minutes for the breakfast sandwiches, but the space is nice and cozy, and it's a good opportunity to peruse their pastry selections.

Bakeshop is such a fun and cozy spot! The desserts are always fresh, creative, and absolutely delicious — you can taste the quality in every bite. The cookies and cupcakes are especially amazing! The atmosphere and service were great! Also nestled in a cute part of town. I think I would have loved if this place had a bathroom. There are so many drink options and you have the ability to sit-in and enjoy your treats/ drink, but without a bathroom, it’s difficult to give this place a 5 star review. I also wish the gf items would have been clearly separated like the vegan ones were. I felt like I had to struggle to find the items they had since it didn’t match the menu online. But super grateful they had something gf to offer. I’d love a gf biscuit/ scone to add to what you already offer + more macron flavors.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️The sign says "Bakes," but I say "Bliss," A gingerbread witch blew me a kiss! The cupcakes are spooks, the muffins are mummies, With icing-spun webs and sweet, sticky tummies. I’ve been a loyal Bakeshop customer for years as I love their banana pudding and breakfast sandwiches. When it was time to choose a cake for our wedding, I looked into the fancy wedding cake bakeries and the economical grocery store sheet cake options. But in my heart, I knew I wanted a Bakeshop cake. The 8 in 3 layer Neapolitan cake was so delicious and picturesque as our cutting cake. Our guests also enjoyed the chocolate cake and carrot cake. We got so many compliments on how amazing our cakes were all night. We love you, Bakeshop!

The place was neat and looks cozy. They have only indoor sittings and mostly people stop-by for takeout than dining in. Staff were eager to help and really help to provide recommendations for your likings. We had their ice cream which is the cookie vanilla sandwich and the Macaron Red Velvet ice cream. For sweet tooth go for the cookies for the mid sweet, go for the macaron. The combination was so good! We will surely go back to this place!

Levain Bakery in Georgetown, D.C. is a popular spot known for its cookies, bread, and sweet treats served alongside coffee and tea in a bright whitewashed-brick setting. Established in 1995 by friends Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald, the bakery has expanded from a small bread shop to a nationwide operation.
I love that my favorite cookie was available in DC. I went in around 2pm and there was no line. I bought my favorite: chocolate chip walnut and dark chocolate peanut butter. I also tried their seasonal dark chocolate peppermint. All of the cookies were chewy and delicious! By the time we walked around Georgetown, I finished half of them so I bought another box. At around 5:30pm, the line was long since they were baking new batch of cookies but I didn’t mind to wait for my warm delicious cookies!

I stopped by Levain Bakery in Washington, D.C., and tried their famous two chocolate chip cookies — and they truly lived up to the hype. Warm, thick, and perfectly gooey inside with a crisp golden edge, each bite was rich and satisfying. The bakery has a cozy, inviting atmosphere with the aroma of fresh cookies filling the air, and the staff were friendly and quick. It’s a great stop for anyone craving something sweet and freshly baked while exploring the city.

Hidden gem in Georgetown! The chocolate peanut butter cookie is insanely good soft, rich, and totally underrated. Morning pastries are just as impressive. Do yourself a favor and try the Whole Wheat Walnut Raisin Roll , the smell in the morning alone is worth the visit.

These cookies are next level! The double chocolate is a chocolate lovers dream. Not too sweet, just sweet enough. The oatmeal raisin is a close second. The muffins are also excellent. They also have soy free options.
J P — Google review
The cookies were good, but the service was really disappointing. The staff were very nice to the people ahead of us, but when it was our turn, they were rude and dismissive, even though we were smiling and polite. It really ruined the experience.
Leen . — Google review
Cookie was tasty, but expensive. Espresso was incredibly bitter and undrinkable. Also, served in a disposable cup, even when drinking in, which I find to be tacky, not to mention, not very sustainable and bad for the environment. The cookie was also served in disposable wrapping, instead of a plate.
Edward B — Google review
One of the best places for cookies i have ever tried. I have lived on the east Coast and west coast and these are hands down the best cookies i have ever had. VERY LARGE cookies that are soft almost undercooked in the inside while a little crispy on the outside. The chocolate chip walnut is the original and is perfectly sweet with not too much chocolate and the walnuts are perfect in the cookie. Ever so buttery and just delicious. Cookies are around 5 dollars per cookie but again they are huge. There are always seasonal varieties but must try the OG. THERE IS NO PARKING and it is in a very busy part of Georgetown so be prepared to either have a lengthy street parking adventure or try one of the paid garage's that is near. There are no tables inside to eat but there is bar style seating on one wall and a couple of benches near the window. I went on a weekend and it was extremely busy. The line was wrapped around the inside of the store several times and out the door. Surprisingly the line moved very quickly and i was in and out in under 10 minutes. Staff was nice and very efficient. Must visit ❤️❤️

Sweet Crimes Gluten-Free Bakery, located in Washington, D.C., offers a wide array of gluten-free and dairy-free treats such as banana bread, cupcakes, lemon bars, and chai-spiced donuts. The bakery is known for its bespoke cake designs suitable for various occasions including birthdays and weddings. Owned by Catherine Lijinsky, who is gluten intolerant herself, the bakery also caters to other special dietary needs.
Made a trip from Maryland to get some gluten free goodies. I am always on the hunt for delicious gluten free donuts. I got one of each flavor and two cinnamon rolls. My friend and I sat on the patio outback and I ate one of the cinnamon rolls - it’s delicious as expected. I’ve since tried two of the donut flavors and they’re great. It’s nice to find gluten free donuts that aren’t too dense! We came on a Saturday morning and there was street parking available. The blue building makes it easy to find. Customer service was great - the person working the counter was very friendly and helpful. I will absolutely be back! I look forward to trying something savory. Thank you for providing delicious gluten free options.

First, this place has excellent service. It is a gluten-free bakery, but there is no sacrifice on the taste. Everyone is friendly and helpful. We were looking for a sweet fix, which is tough when you're both dairy-free and gluten-free. We got warm Chai donuts (yummy, but definitely best when warm) and a mini bundt cake. Also very good. These were so good that for Valentine's I ordered a mini cookie cake for my daughter, a box of mini cupcakes for my guy, a sweets sampler for the in-laws and a mixed bag of donuts for sibling. We loved them. My only request is more vegan+GF options (at least on weekends). We will be back!

If you're around Eastern Market, this spot is just a quick 8-minute walk away. We stopped by over the weekend and absolutely loved it. I am sure that they hear this a lot, but even though I'm not gluten-free, their pastries were amazing. I had the fig & goat cheese scone for breakfast, and it was heavenly. The chocolate donut holes were also a sweet little treat I would snack on them every day. The staff up front were super friendly and welcoming to everyone. Definitely planning to go back soon!

Last minute decided to stop by on my way home, got 3 egg and cheese sandwiches and a pumpkin spice cupcake. Cupcake was fantastic! Egg and cheese sandwich’s were kinda ehh, the biscuit part was amazing, but the egg and the sauce didn’t really do it for me. I’d definitely come back for the sweets though.
Blayze L — Google review
Do not order via delivery service! I received the saddest looking cupcakes that had clearly been on the shelf for a long time (one was even labeled clearance) and looked like they were made by an amateur baker. For $8 a pop after tax that is the actual crime. We’ve been a huge fan of Sweet Crimes for years - they did our wedding cake and I’ve ordered multiple cakes or cupcakes from them for my GF husband’s birthdays but this was exceptionally disappointing. So I don’t recommend getting any treats from here that you can’t pick out yourself.
Allie B — Google review
Sometimes it's hard to ask for the moon when going into a gf bakery as someone who has an intolerance and has visited many places with gf options but I was left pretty disappointed with the options here as well as the execution. Fine and mid if you're needing a gf friendly sweet treat.

Sweet Crimes is my favorite gluten free bakery in the DMV and I love to stop by to see what's on their menu. In addition to their usual sweets, we ordered our wedding cake and desserts from Sweet Crimes. Keri went above and beyond to make sure all of the desserts were gluten, dairy, and nut free to accommodate a variety of food allergies and she took care of the delivery and setup for us. The cake was the best cake I've ever had and we've decided we'll be ordering an anniversary cake from them every year just to relive it. All of the guests remarked how they couldn't tell it was gluten free either!

We ordered banana bread, a "large" cinnamon bun and a smoothie and it was $23. We had higher expectations for that price. The smoothie had a delicious flavor, but it was room temperature and very small. The cup wasn't filled to the top either, and for that price I actually asked her to add more, which she did. The banana bread was VERY good, but very small compared to what it looked like in the picture we saw when we ordered. The cinnamon bun was also very small, even though we ordered a "large." I can't even imagine how small the "small" must be. And, it really tasted terrible. This little bakery could do better. We will not go again.

Cookie shop
Captain Cookie & the Milk Man is a vibrant mobile bakery and dairy bar founded by co-owners Juliann and Kirk Francis. They offer freshly baked cookies made from scratch, creamery milk, and customizable ice cream sandwiches at their George Washington University location and three food trucks. The trucks are equipped with running water, dipping freezers, and bakery ovens to ensure fresh cookie production on the go. With origins dating back to 2012, the business has expanded to include three trucks and five stores.
I recently stopped by Captain Cookie & the Milkman and tried their snickerdoodle cookie. It was so soft and flavorful. It practically melted in my mouth! I can't wait to go back and grab a whole pack of them. The pricing is pretty fair too, at $2.50 per cookie. The location is super convenient. Very close to George Washington University and within walking distance from downtown DC. It's an easy walk, especially on a nice day. 10/10 for me!

Had chocolate chip ice cream sandwich and double chocolate ice cream sandwich. Service was good but lines was long. Guys working were nice. Some sitting area upstairs and additional seating in market. The day we went they were making more chocolate chip cookies so it was a 20 min wait. They were also not making shakes that day. It's a busy location. In walking distance from where we were staying.

The coolest ice cream place I’ve happened across in a while. The general manager was very nice and told us all about the business. Loved learning about the owners and the story. The other employee there was also extremely friendly! Ice cream and cookies were both delicious! Loved the super hero theme!

First time trying this place!! The cookies are stellar, and the ice cream is so savory. Such a perfect combination and perfect place to go for a quick late night snack. The atmosphere was delightful and customer service was next level! His patience, astonishing attitude and knowledge of the menu made me feel reassured about trying something new. On top of that he even introduced me to a root beer float!!! Will definitely try that on my next visit. Whatever you do…you MUST try the snicker doodle cookie. Will be returning soon :)

I had such a great experience at Captain Cookie today! The cashier, Casey, was super friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. she was patient while I decided what to get and even gave me great recommendations. The service was quick, and my cookies came out fresh and delicious. Casey’s positive energy really made the visit even better definitely coming back soon!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Dessert Drop-Kick to the Taste Buds! Captain Cookie and the Milkman is hands-down one of DC’s sweetest hidden gems—tucked in Foggy Bottom like a cheat code for happiness. From the moment you walk in, you’re hit with the warm, buttery scent of fresh-baked cookies that feel like a hug from your childhood. I built my own ice cream sandwich with a snickerdoodle and double chocolate chip, and listen… life changed. The cookies were the perfect balance of crispy edges and soft, gooey centers. And the ice cream? Creamy, dreamy, and ridiculously good. It’s the kind of combo that makes you want to high-five the cashier and then do a slow walk of glory out the door. Bonus points for the fun, comic-style branding and super friendly staff. Whether you’re having a rough day or just want a reason to smile, Captain Cookie is that spot. Trust me: get the sandwich. Add the milk. Become the hero of your own dessert story. 🍪🦸🏾‍♂️🥛

Me and my boyfriend ventured here on a whim after our dinner date on 6/28 around 8pm. Unfortunately, the customer service was poor. We were not greeted which usually I don't think much of, but the man at the front was rather cold and looked unhappy. He was not cordial at all as we asked a question and placed our order and frankly he seemed annoyed while helping us. We are very easygoing people so we had done nothing to incite this treatment. We merely walked in, took maybe 5 minutes tops to view the menu, and placed an order. As for the cookies, they didn't impress me. My boyfriend loves all sweets yet he agreed. They weren't bad at all- very possibly just not our tastes? I felt as though for a place concentrating on cookies, they would be better than homemade, but it's hard for me to say they were by much. All in all, others seem to enjoy this spot and I wouldn't deter anybody from giving it a try, but I did want to make note of our poor customer service experience. Edit: Unfortunately, I'm a smidge insulted from the owner's response. The newest reviews up until a month ago when our trip happened indeed included some 1-star reviews, showing not everyone had great experiences. I'm not sure if this is my own perspective but I do not consider one month ago as a "long-ago visit". If you the customer consider it so, then you may take my review with a grain of salt. I write my reviews in batches, but I validate the request on the owner's part to have preferred to hear about our experience sooner. Yet, I didn't appreciate the indirect request "we think your review is outdated so take it down please", but I do appreciate the wanting to make it right. I've got some mixed feelings here.

Alexandria Pastry Shop is a bustling mainstay in Alexandria, Virginia, known for its special-occasion cakes, from-scratch pastries, and deli sandwiches. Established in 1988, this patisserie prides itself on using only the finest and freshest ingredients available to create their delicious confections.
We decided to stop here because of the long line at Starbucks. I'm honestly so happy we did. Everyone was super nice and helpful. The prices were pretty decent. The choices were plentiful and everything looked amazing. I got the hot pastrami sandwich and really enjoyed it. My partner got the Italian and liked it but did say the bread seemed a little dry. Update: we made this a weekly stop in our routine. ProTip: always start with dessert

[GREEN MOLD ON CAKE] Updated Review: I purchased the cake on 10/7 around 6 PM, close to the store’s closing time. I placed it in the refrigerator and ate a slice around 8:30 PM, where I discovered green mold on middle of the cake (see time and date of pictures taken-along with cake transaction). The next morning (10/8), after experiencing food poisoning. I immediately called the store to request that the rest of the cakes from that batch be removed from the counter, but I was told no manager was available the entire day. Even if the store doesn’t want to take accountability for the mold, it clearly shows a lack of proper food storage or handling, since mold does not develop within just two hours of purchasing a cake. (Original review): I was really disappointed with my order — I found green mold on my slice of cake, and unfortunately, I ended up getting food poisoning after eating it. This was very concerning and made me question the food safety and storage practices. I hope the business takes this seriously and ensures better quality control so no one else has to go through the same experience.

First of all, the young man behind the counter was so friendly and helpful the moment we walked in. His cheerful personality made our entire visit so wonderful! Second, the selection of gorgeous pastries was amazing. We had a hard time choosing! Ended up with a chocolate mousse cake and a raspberry bar and a bunch of macarons to take home. Finally, the decor is so elegant and chic. Such a beautiful spot. We will return very soon!

Ordered a custom birthday cake (sugar free/diabetic) in advance. Joseline responded in email that it would be ready for the event. I followed up twice in email to confirm and they confirmed it would be ready. Day of the event, they didn’t have the cake and staff spent some time on the phone trying to figure out what happened, and I was further late for my event. I emailed saying my cake order was forgotten by the bakery, no response. Emailed again, they said I can come in for a free pastry instead of a free cake, after I communicated before that I can’t have sugar which I reminded again. I’m so glad I didn’t order a bigger event’s custom cake from this bakery, like a wedding cake. Definitely would not risk ordering a wedding cake from here. Disappointed how disorganized this process and outcome was, and how there was no understanding that a promise was broken and that they should make up for it without me asking for them to.

The place itself is cute but it does have a weird smell and the bathroom was kind of dirty. Worst of all though was tts vanilla vanilla cupcake I ordered. Nearly $6 for one. It tasted days old The frosting was supposed to be butter cream but tasted like refrigerated crisco:( the cake itself was dry and stale tasting. Ugh!

Rise Bakery is a charming townhouse bakery located on the second floor, known for its dedication to providing an extensive menu of gluten-free options without compromising on taste or texture. Established in 2014 by Mike Koritko, who was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, this local institution offers a wide array of gluten-free and vegan treats such as cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, croissants, sandwiches, and pizzas.
I had heard good things about Rise Bakery from my neighbors and I wanted to try it. I ordered for delivery the Gluten Free Everything Inside Bagels, the vegan cream cheese and Gluten Free carrot cupcakes. The bagels are absolutely the best I have tasted. The vegan cream cheese is tasty and has the consistency of cream cheese. You don’t need to use a lot to enjoy its good taste. The carrot cupcakes are moist and not too sweet. I absolutely enjoyed all that I bought and I am thrilled about this bakery.

Got the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich, with a chocolate croissant. On the spectrum of gf options that exist, it was average. Bagel was a little hard and the croissant was more of a biscuit, not enough chocolate. $12 for the sandwich, $6 for the croissant. Some things I’d recommend changing: adding more chocolate or some kind of sauce to the croissant so it’s not so dry. Also warming it up and melting it would make it taste better. The bagel was hard so I’d recommend adding more cheese or butter to soften. It was supposed to be an everything bagel but I didn’t taste that, so maybe more of the seasoning as well.

Whenever we're in DC, Rise is a must. They're stuff is good and if you can't get good gluten-free/GF stuff where you live, don't pass this up. We tried a bunch of stuff - the classic breakfast sandwich, mom knows best, chocolate croissant, vanilla donut, eclair, and cannoli. My wife loved the mom knows best and the vanilla donut was the best pastry we had.

Got an everything bagel, sliced and toasted with cream cheese. Great chewy texture, great flavor, I’ve missed bagels for years and this finally hit the spot!! Not usual upholstery foam texture I’ve become accustomed to with gluten free bagels.

Gluten free cinnamon roll was absolutely excellent. Bacon egg and cheese also super moist and delicious. Almost tasted like a Chik Fil A biscuit. Tastes very expensive without the expensive price tag. Would absolutely come back anytime I’m in DC.

The food wasn’t good. The cupcakes are so grainy and inedible, I threw them out after one bite. The cookies are hard as a rock. The pumpkin cheesecake was decent though. I wouldn’t recommend for someone who has to eat GF because it was a major disappointment compared to what you can find at Trader Joe’s.

Baked by Yael is a unique bakery located across from the Smithsonian National Zoo in DC. The owner, Yael Krigman, transitioned from a career in law to pursue her passion for baking. This nut-free and kosher bakery offers an array of sweet and savory treats, including colorful cake pops and hand-rolled bagels. They are known for their dedication to accommodating various dietary needs, offering gluten-free and vegan options such as their famous cookie bar.
We love Baked By Yael! In addition to enjoying the amazing challah and cakepops over the years, this year we had a cakepop birthday party for our daughter there. It was a top notch experience. Very well organized, very kind and child-friendly facilitators, and a cheerful atmosphere. All the children said how much they enjoyed the experience. It is wonderful that Yael opens up her bakery for cakepop parties and is definitely one of our daughter's favorite bday parties!

Snacks were good. Prices are on the high side. Panda cake pops were almost $7 each. Raspberry cake was good. Black and white cookie didn’t have much flavor. Nice place to stop for a special treat before the zoo.

I took a cakepop class here. I’ve taken other cooking and baking classes elsewhere before and was a little skeptical walking in. I shouldn’t have been! It was amazing. Class was only an hour, with short manageable instructions from a super friendly staff. At the end of the class I had a dozen delicious and ok-looking cakepops to bring home to my kids. This would be an excellent team-building or fund-raising activity for a group. Way better than driving two hours outside DC to hang from ropes. No contest. Also, while we were in class someone walked in to the store and ordered a bagel sandwich. It looked so good I almost dropped my cakepop.

I came in and had a visit after the zoo. I saw it and thought it was a cute Bake shop and I love supporting small businesses. The cake pops looked very appetizing and very tasty so if you’re looking for a good cake pop in DC this is a good place. I’m not sure if it was just the panda cake pops- but yeah they were almost 7 dollars ($$$). But they were bigger than the average Starbucks cake pop if I’m not mistaken. the chocolate flavor was really nice! it was not dry at all, and it was very cute. So yeah it’s on the higher end for a cake pop, but it got the job done and made for some great pictures. note it is a very small café so not sure about having a seat or having a large group— but it’s great for a grab and go.

These kind people not only make delicious bagels, pastries, and cake pops, they are awesome humans. Yael donated a huge amount of bagels and pops for the students at Duke Ellington School of the Arts to get them energized and full for our special event "The March for the Arts" this coming weekend. We at school literally asked day-of and an hour later they had the donations packaged for us to pick up. AMAZING!!!!! (Also the food is flipping phenomenal and everything is nut-free and Kosher!) THANK YOU, Baked by Yael! All of the members of the Duke Ellington community are now lifelong fans!

Came out of the zoo and wanted some coffee that wasn’t from a chain. Glad I came here! Had a nice cup of coffee and a raspberry cake pop. They also have panda swag, if your kids are still pestering you for a souvenir from the zoo 😋

Delicious baked goods! I happened to meet the owner when I stopped by who is just as kind and friendly as the rest of the staff. I would definitely recommend. The owner has also been known to go above and beyond to support zoo staff (the store is located just outside one of the entrances to the zoo) during times of hardship such as government closures or the COVID pandemic.
Laci T — Google review
Great place to stop by after the zoo to grab a quick bite. The bagel sandwiches are around $6 and baked goods are around $4 each. Overall a decent place with vegan and gluten-free options. Nut-free and kosher if that’s also a concern for you. They had cute zoo-themed cake pops here and if you want a cute panda pop then this is the place for you. I tried their southwestern sandwich on an everything bagel and it was tasty and big enough that you’re full but not overly stuffed. I also tried their cookie bar and it was okay, though I wish I would’ve gone with their raspberry bar instead (maybe next time).

Great experience! Easy to communicate with and Fantastic Cake! Ordered an 8” x 8” rum cake for my husband’s birthday. Watergate pastry was super easy to communicate with, their pricing was fair ($50). On pick up day everything was easy, and the employee at the shop was so kind. I’m personally not even a fan of rum cake (it’s his favorite) but we both ended up loving the cake!!! It was creamy, flavorful, flaky, and the perfect amount of sweet! 10/10 recommend watergate pastry! And it’s fun to walk around the old historic building while you’re in the area :)

Spectacular dark chocolate mousse. Probably the best that I have ever had. It was moist, decadent, rich, anything that you want in a chocolate mousse. And the decorations were so professional and sharp, it was a shame to ruin them to eat the cake itself! Definitely would recommend that you try any of their delicious pastries here.

Sharbat is a bakery in Adams Morgan, Washington D.C., specializing in Azerbaijani treats. The owner, Ilhama Safarova, who hails from Baku, offers a menu featuring authentic Azerbaijani pastries like pakhlava and shekerbura. The bakery has received warm reception since its opening, with customers praising their pakhlava as the best they've ever had.
Absolutely wonderful café and bakery located in the heart of Adams Morgan! This lovely little hole-in-the-wall shop may look unassuming from the outside, but it is home to some of the best baked goodies in DC. I've dropped by several times for dessert, and I've been super impressed by their quality and consistency -- the baklava is definitely the star of the show, and they have a ton of variety. Whether you want to keep it classic with their traditional batu baklava or pistachio baklava, or if you want a sweet fusion twist with their nutella baklava, each dessert is perfectly flaky, nutty, and all-around delicious. Their batu baklava has the perfect level of sweetness and goes wonderfully with a latte or americano; the nutella baklava is a smidge too sweet for my taste, but it's great if you're looking for something with a bit more sugar. Beyond baklava, they have a wide selection of other traditional Azerbaijani desserts, including cakes, cookies, and a bunch of other sweet or savory pastries. The owner is the sweetest woman I've ever met and more than willing to chat through the menu if you have any questions. For their drinks, they serve La Colombe coffee, so you really can't go too wrong with anything. I wasn't the biggest fan of their matcha (it tasted a little more like culinary-grade matcha vs. ceremonial), but it was still tasty and fulfilled my caffeine craving. The shop is super cute and has a good amount of seating, including these really cute benches with an eclectic assortment of colorful pillows. It is super cozy and has a ton of natural light from the large storefront windows, making it perfect for reading, working, or yapping your afternoon away. I also love that they're open pretty late (8 PM on most days).

An amazing Azerbaijani restaurant in Washington DC! The qutabs, dushbere, erishte, plov, dolma, unique pastries, baked goods, breakfast dishes (kuku, scrambled eggs with tomatoes), thyme tea, and homemade döners — everything was absolutely delicious. It truly felt like we traveled back to Azerbaijan. We loved it so much that we came both for breakfast and dinner in the same day. Aunt Natavan’s warmth and kindness make you feel like your own mother cooked for you. For anyone living in Washington, this place is simply irreplaceable!
Aytaj K — Google review
One of the most delightful meals I've ever eaten. My husband and I traveled here on our honeymoon in DC - Sharbat was on my list of places I wanted to visit and I'm glad to say it exceeded my expectations. Before talking about the food itself, it's got a nice atmosphere and kind staff, and there's fresh flowers and pretty art too. We ordered dishes to share, selecting the dushbara and gurza. The dumplings (gurza) came with a yogurt like sour cream and a little crock of sauce that resembled something between sundried tomato and a very mild chili oil. They were beautiful and fantastic - like you hear "dumpling with beef inside" and that seems like it'd be pretty familiar, but the flavor was unique and complex. We also got the most gorgeous soup called dushbara. It was honestly to die for. Beneath the surface are these small dumplings, of a different shape but I think filled with the same beef mixture. I was reading an article about it from natgeo recently and supposedly it's a fine art in Azerbaijan to try to get the dumplings as micro as possible. These fit perfectly one to a spoonful and they filled up with the beef broth which was phenomenally silky with oil. There was a small crock of vinegar which you could pour into your spoonful to cut the fats and also that same sour cream type stuff. Both were delicious with the soup, which was warm and herby and glorious. There was also a flatbread that came with it - my husband dropped chunks in to soak and it made for a decadent bite! We also took back with us a slice of honey cake and pistachio cake. We'd tried something similar at another bakery before (our first exposure to these kinds of desserts) and I think Sharbat's were my favorite. The honey cake has so many layers, and the pistachio cake is coated in extra nuts with plentiful frosting (which I especially like). One recommendation! If you have time in advance and you know you'll want particular dishes, it's worth letting the staff know ahead of time. For example, the dovga soup, creamy manti, and khinkali were dishes I was interested in trying out but they'd need to be requested in advance. I wish I had longer in DC so I could go back and try those out, knowing how good everything else ended up tasting. And there were such beautiful pastries on display which I wish I could have tried. It's a fairly extensive menu with many phenomenal options, so if you live nearby you ought to take advantage of it and sample everything!!

I've been on the hunt for authentic baklava and finally found a spot that hit the mark. The baklava was fresh, flaky, and delicious. I tried the Walnut Pakhlava, Meringue Pakhlava, Kata, and took a Mutaki to go. Each treat was amazing. The service was excellent and the cashier offered me some recommendations for my next visit. Initially, I sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather, but when it got chilly, I moved inside to a cute table by the window with pillows and hanging greenery. There was also space heater nearby to keep the area warm. Overall, I highly recommend this place and look forward to returning for more sweet treats and pleasant ambiance. A definite 10/10 experience!

Nestled in the heart of Washington, DC, Fresh Baguette is a charming bakery that captures the essence of authentic French cuisine. This rustic shop is celebrated for its freshly baked pastries and an array of delightful baked goods. The star attraction here is undoubtedly their baguettes, which are crafted from scratch and emerge from the oven every two hours, boasting a taste reminiscent of those found in Paris.
Fresh Baguette was fantastic! The latte and chocolate croissant were amazing, and we also really enjoyed the lemon meringue tart and the turkey BLT sandwich. Everything was fresh and delicious, the café was clean, and the service was excellent. The sandwich was a bit pricier than expected, but the quality was great. Just be sure to ask for your croissant to be warmed — it makes all the difference!

Located in a nice place. However they didn’t have a lot of collection when we were there but we did tried pistachios orange tart and the blueberry muffin . Both were great. Staff was nice and good to stop by for some dessert when you are visiting the White House.

The bakery looked and smelled amazing. It was very clean. It did seem pricier than it should’ve been. They did not offer to warm up the croissants and we were unaware that was an option. The food would’ve tasted much better warmed instead of cold. It wasn’t until after we sat down that we saw them offer it to other patrons.

Very generous portion size and flavourful and fresh cro’gel (bread that is a hybrid croissant and bagel). The one downside was that the only vegetarian sandwich they offer, Pesto Cro’gul, was unavailable. They did allow for a build your own sandwich which was a nice alternative. The display featuring their cakes and other baked goods was beautiful.

I had the salmon spinach quiche, with the Normandy tart and iced black tea. Everything was so fresh and flavorful! French music made the atmosphere very light and happy. The price I was comparable to what we’re used to in a larger city, like NYC, so it seemed reasonable and appropriate for the food and the area. I want to come back to try some of their other pastries and breads. Very friendly and helpful staff as well. Overall great experience!

I wanted to enjoy this place more but took many strikes. All tables needed wipe downs, bathroom wasn’t as clean as it could be, floors dirty and silverware also not as clean as they should be. Food was good. The two young men working were very kind. Music was great.

Fresh Baguette is one of the most delicious French pastry shops I have been to in DC. I love all of their fresh pastries especially their cinnamon rolls, Nutella croissants and the crogels. I would definitely recommend!

Lala's cakes are absolutely delicious! I have ordered numerous cakes (and won a couple raffles) and I haven't been disappointed. The cakes are always so moist and flavorful. She is so kind and is a creative genius. Ordering with her is a smooth and straightforward process. I will always be a repeat customer!

I am so grateful to have found Lala! I found her on Instagram and saw how beautiful her work was but I figured I would never be able to afford it and had no expectations for taste - I was so wrong! Thankfully, I reached out via email and she replied, and the price was reasonable and the cake was incredibly delicious! Just look at the pictures showing how beautiful this cake is! Do you see that tea cup inserted in the middle?! I mean how detailed and beautiful?! This was my cake for my baby shower tea party and everyone was talking about it, taking pictures of it and wanted another piece because it was so good! I chose chocolate raspberry for one layer and vanilla caramel for the other. It was perfection! I was really ecstatic about the tea cup, fresh roses and baby’s breath on the cake. Everything I wanted Lala made happen, even those pretty little gold flakes. I feel so lucky to have found her through instagram because she’s so professional (not always the case with social media). I would love to order from her again and encourage anyone reading this to order from her also! Thank you so much Lala!

What an an amazing artistic talent cake maker !!! The cake looks stunning and fabulous! Everyone was amazed by this beautiful piece of art work (hot cake) in the party!! The cake exceeded my expectation!!! It’s really tasty and perfect amount of sweetness!! And Lala is really professional and she knows what she is doing! I asked her for a cake topper with “happy birthday with Sicilian symbol”. She did surprise me, it looks perfect!!! OMG !!!! I also got the design what I wanted. I have nothing to complain about this cake. It was perfect !! Lala is the best, I definitely will recommend everyone of you who looks on this review. She is the right one. I definitely will order the cake from her in the future!!!! I really appreciate you.

Lala is hands down the best baker in the dmv. The talent she has to create such beautiful cakes is unlike any other. I have been a long time admirer and was lucky enough to finally be on the receiving end. It was almost too pretty to eat (but I’m glad we did because the inside was just as delicious)! Everyone that saw/ate the cake asked who made it and immediately followed her Instagram page and became a customer themselves. I will be coming back again and again. Thank you Lala!! You are truly amazing.

This is by far the best cake I’ve ever had ! Not only was it delicious but it was so beautiful and exceeded my expectations. My family and I devoured every bit of it and literally left no crumbs. On top of the amazing cake, Lala is such a pleasure to work with! She is the sweetest person ever and her attention to detail is perfect. I’m so excited to use her again for my daughters first birthday in September!

If I could give Lala a million stars I would! Lala’s cakes have become a fixture for my family and friends for years now. Her cakes are what make our special occasions so special. The taste and designs are just the best. She is the kindest and most professional person you will ever meet!

First off, Lala’s cakes are gorgeous, always! I mean so beautiful you don’t even want to cut it, but once you do, the taste is perfection and the cake itself is so moist. Lala made our wedding cake a few years ago and my guest were raving about the cake, literally no crumbs left. This is my family’s go-to for literally any and every occasion. She is our cake queen and just keeps us coming back. She is also very sweet and simply a pleasure to work with!

The bakery offers a welcoming atmosphere with ample indoor and outdoor seating. Customers are encouraged to sample the delicious cupcakes before making a purchase.
This place has AMAZING sweet potato treats! The original sweet potato cake is very moist and has the right amount of sweet. The cream cheese frosting is great too. Definitely try the cupcakes and get AT LEAST a half dozen to try all of the flavors. Bourbon Sweet Potato cupcake is incredible!! I would also recommend the purple banana pudding if you love banana pudding! The best part is chatting with April, the owner. She is very nice and you can tell that she puts A LOT OF LOVE into her bakery. The space itself is filled with local artistry, showcased throughout and has seating to spend time and enjoy the experience. I will definitely be back for more! Thank you April for the experience! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

On Monday, I visited a cake shop in DC for lunch and encountered exceptional customer service from Jeremy at the counter. His kindness and welcoming demeanor were impressive, and the cake was outstanding, prompting me to place an order. Thank you, Jeremy, for your excellent service.
Brandon C — Google review
Response to owner's response: It's more convenient for the customer and good business practice for the business to get the order right in the first place. My time is more valuable than money! Original review: Misleading advertising - I ordered the butter pecan (flavored) cupcakes, but the cupcakes were not as described on the website: 1) The cupcakes were plain without any pecans and certainly were not "folded in" as stated in the website's description. The icing may have had "shavings" from pecans, but nothing more. 2) The icing spread was significantly less than as pictured on the website/advertisements, and it did not fully cover (maybe 2/3 ) the cupcake top. I decided to give 2 stars because the cupcake was moist, BUT overall, the taste was not redeeming enough to overlook the negatives.

Last week, I embarked on a noble quest in a new city for the perfect sweet potato pie, and my first stop was DC Sweet Potato Cake. Walking in, I was greeted by April, a tall, beautiful Black woman who seemed to understand my sweet potato pie addiction—perhaps even share it. Encouraged by her stories of another pie-obsessed patron, I left with six cupcakes and a small pie. Back at my lodging, I gave it the smell test: promising. I took a bite, and boom—the hallelujah chorus erupted. I returned the next day. The rest, as they say, is history.

This adorable bakery is the perfect spot to indulge in a cup of coffee and devour my absolute favorite red velvet sweet potato cupcakes. If you happen to be in DC or work there, make sure to swing by and savor this hidden gem in the heart of the city. Trust me, it's a must-visit!

Finding this beautiful and quaint space was an Happy Accident! I'm embarrassed to say that I stopped to use the ladies room. However, I still wanted Coffee. I was not sure if they were open or not, yet the Queen who opened the door for me was so welcoming and gracious. What a lovely cozy clean stylish space!! Loved the pumpkin cupcake that was perfectly fluffy and sweet!! Thank you for the hospitality!! I will be back!!

Not one was left at the end of the night- such a great addition to our event!!

Amazing macarons! I have tried chocolate, strawberry cheesecake, and lemon and all are my favorite. I have tried other Macarons and the cookie taste really cardboard-ish but these are full of flavor. Sweet Treats DMV is a custom cake bakery in Washington DC that creates specialty cakes for various occasions. Customers have raved about the delicious and moist lemon coconut cake, as well as the amazing wedding cakes and cupcakes made by Tawonda, the talented owner. Her promptness, reliability, and attention to detail have left customers impressed with her work. The cakes are not overly sweet but still very enjoyable and delicious.
The lady who owns this business made my wedding cake and it was absolutely amazing. I was just looking back on the pictures and figured that I needed to come back and provide a review because she really did an amazing job. The request was custom. We sent her a picture to her email and she handled the rest. She was up front with all communication. She had to troubleshoot certain things for our cake to work and we trusted her last skill set. Thankfully, we did because the wedding turned out amazingly. She also delivered the cake on a hot hot summer day and kept it in tact. I can’t say enough about her skill set and I will keep her contact for future projects. Great job!!

The cake that I received for my micro wedding was AMAZING! The design was exactly what I asked for, reasonably priced, arrived on time, and the flavor - wow! Everyone loved the cookies and cream flavor and my now husband is still raving about how much he loved it! Would order again in a heartbeat.
Tia R — Google review
Tawonda does AMAZING work. She is prompt, reliable & kind. This is the 3rd cake that we’ve ordered from her in one year. She also did our rehearsal cake & wedding cake/cupcakes. My family loves her work & her cakes take AMAZING. They aren’t overly sweet (actually enjoyable) but still very delicious. We will continue to book her for every event! For this cake I actually transported it 3 hours for my mom & it held up amazingly. She even provided so extra things & advice to keep it sturdy! You’ll regret not ordering from her!!!
Erica M — Google review
If you don’t want to read the whole review, just know you will not regret having Sweet Treats DMV make the desserts for your event!! Not only is Tawonda a kind person, but her desserts are absolutely beautiful and delicious ! She worked with my budget for a bridal shower and everyone couldn’t stop talking about how amazing everything was. She made a cake, cupcakes, cake pops, macaroons, decorated cookies, brownie bites and chocolate covered strawberries and delivered everything to us at the venue which was a huge help. Sometimes desserts look pretty but lack taste but that is NOT the case here...they taste just as good as they look. HIGHLY recommend sweet treats!!
Carolyn M — Google review
I ordered a cake via sweet treats and the cake exceeded my expectations. The design of the cake was immaculate. The flavor and taste of the cake was delectable. Usually really beautiful cakes lack flavor however, this cake was moist and had so much flavor. I highly recommend. The ordering process was seamless.
Andre B — Google review
My new favorite place! The cake was exactly like what I wanted and it tasted great! They had it delivered on time.
Layla B — Google review
Tawonda was very nice and willing to help me think through what flavor combination would work well. I had a picture of exactly what I wanted for my daughter's baptism celebration, and she delivered. In my research to find a bakery, Tawonda was the only one willing to make a white cake, which I thought would look better with the style of the cake. It was delicious--the cake was flavorful and moist and the icing was light and not too sweet. She also made gluten free cupcakes to go along with the cake for some of our guests with allergies. Those were the best gluten free cupcakes I've ever had! To top it all off, she delivers the cakes, which takes a huge load off if you're hosting an event.
Laura K — Google review
I've been meaning to post this review since the sweet treats Queen made my custom lemon coconut cake for my b'day a couple of years ago. I grew up on the Entenmann's Lemon Coconut Cake and asked Sweet Treats to create a celebratory version for my day. She went above and beyond with the magnificent creation. The lemon was perfect, cake was deliciously moist, and the best part - the coconut. This talented fool toasted the dang coconut milk, y'all - and somehow incorporated it into the buttercream. Just didn't make any sense how she made that cake taste so good. Either way, it was the best lemon coconut cake I EVER had in life. I managed to enjoy the cake for a full month after by vac sealing slices. Still tasted like I got it freshly delivered. I have had other wares from Sweet Treats (like that Brunch Box - goodness; grab you a bottle of bubbles and OJ and you are good to go) and can say that the consistency and quality is top notch. I implore you to try Sweet Treats for your next event (cakes, etc.)...or just 'cause (the online bake shop is the best for little items - quiche is divine). Thank you, Sweet Treats!
Rashidah D — Google review
Tawonda is amazingly talented. My entire family enjoyed the red velvet cupcakes and donut themed cookies and cream cake very much. The cake/cupcakes were some of the best we've had. They were the perfect level of soft, moist, and sweet. Not to mention gorgeous! The OREO buttercream was a huge hit and people were fighting to get more of it.

Breathtakingly Beautiful!” that is how we describe @sweet_elevations cake. The dynamic duo Alicia & Mimi created an exquisite work of art! In the early planning stages of our wedding, we had no idea what cake style, color, or flavor we wanted at all! We were even going to go with a possible, “cookie” table. When I contacted Alicia, she immediately put all our indecisiveness and hesitancy to rest. She directed us to her magnificent website and walked us through what would best work for the day. She had a “cake” board of our thoughts, and she really brought everything to life. When we saw the end result, we were in tears at how unique and amazing it was, not only for pictures, but taste! If you are looking for an innovative, creative and down right, delicious baker, RUN to @sweet_elevations cake!

Finding a delicious cake was at the top of the list for our wedding. Alicia surpassed all our expectations. She was so helpful, accommodating & so patient with us. The customer service was amazing but the cake …. My Goodness!! DELICIOUS! Our guests are still raving about the cake a week later. Thank you so much for making our day so special.
T C — Google review
Alicia is an absolute gem! I was introduced to her just 72 hours before my mother’s 70th birthday celebration, and from the very beginning, she approached everything with care, professionalism, and remarkable expertise. Despite the short notice, Alicia took the time to understand my mother’s dietary needs and made thoughtful recommendations. She even asked about the event’s theme and décor—and matched the cake design perfectly. The cake was not just a dessert—it was a centerpiece of the celebration. Alicia and her team went above and beyond to ensure it was not only beautiful and delicious, but also delivered safely and on time. Her attention to detail, warm communication, and genuine passion for her craft made a lasting impression on our entire family. I would recommend Alicia 10000% and will absolutely be working with her again in the future. She made my mother’s milestone birthday that much more special, and for that, I’m forever grateful.

Sweet Elevations was the only baker I had in mind to do my wedding cake :) I had her cupcakes at a corporate event years ago and they were so delicious and memorable I chose the same flavor as one of my wedding tier flavors! Booking was very straight forward and quick. As far as design went I sent a few inspiration photos and told her to she had creative freedom. My cake was so beautiful and each flavor was amazing. I would recommend Alicia to anyone getting married in the DMV area. She is so friendly, and truly enjoys her craft. 10/10 experience!

Brunch restaurant
Le Diplomate is a classic French restaurant that offers outdoor seating and a cozy atmosphere. It pays tribute to the iconic French cafe culture, providing a comfortable setting for enjoying familiar French dishes, brunch favorites, and drinks. The restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance features comfy booths, extended windows, and a tiled floor that gives it a casual patio-like feel. The menu boasts an array of French classics like bouillabaisse and onion soup alongside international favorites such as burgers and half roast chickens.
My lunch at Le Diplomate in D.C. was truly exquisite. The atmosphere is authentically French and wonderfully charming. It is full of energy, conversation, and a fun vibe. Since it was a gorgeous day in the 70s, I was especially grateful to sit outside on the covered patio and enjoy the afternoon. The French onion soup was a highlight — one of the best I’ve had, it rivals Balthazar in New York City. The champagne was excellent, and the crème brûlée was the perfect finish to the meal. The service was also very good. I highly recommend this wonderful and vibrant French restaurant in the heart of D.C.
Virginia H — Google review
First, it should be noted the atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful and would be the perfect setting for an evening outing. The service was great, and our server was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. But as far as food goes, it was underwhelming. Beautifully presented but in taste and flavor it severely lacked and for the price point of each dish, was disappointing. I would recommend coming here perhaps for drinks and atmosphere, less so for the food.
Hailey C — Google review
Le Diplomate is an incredible spot for date night. It’s right on 14th Street and perfectly captures that classic European brasserie atmosphere. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for a special evening. I highly recommend the steak frites, escargot, and duck. The duck, in particular, has a subtle orangey note that’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted — rich, balanced, and memorable. We’ve also tried the artichokes before, which weren’t really my favorite, but everything else has been consistently excellent. The indoor dining room is elegant, but we’ve only ever sat outdoors, where the ambiance is just as lovely. We love this place and will definitely be back!
Rich M — Google review
They nailed the French bistro/cafe vibe!! It is so cool to sit inside or on the patio and enjoy their food. One of the best burgers in the city! And the mushroom tart was flaky and rich and flavor packed!! Highly recommend!
Daniel L — Google review
My experience at this restaurant was excellent with the food and the service. The decor of the place was very pretty. The food was delicious. The coffee was super delicious, with an intense and tasty flavor. I loved it. The waiter who served us, I have to say this. We had a small incident with the coffee, but he resolved it super quickly. He was very attentive from the beginning, very kind and respectful. We were super happy with the attention from Mr. Amaya. I have to mention him because he gave us excellent service. I highly recommend this restaurant. Everything was excellent: the food, the service, the atmosphere, everything was a very nice experience! Highly recommended!!
M — Google review
Love the aesthetic and vibe of this place moreso than the food or drinks. The burger was good (not cooked as ordered = medium) and the scallops were good. Nothing phenomenal. Old fashioned was good. Just all around a very ok/good experience.
Colton S — Google review
We came on a day that there were protestors outside. You're charging $16 for two eggs over easy and you're trying to convince us you can't afford unioned workers? Yikes. As for the food, I had the Country Dry Chicken Club. The price felt audacious for its quality. The eggs benedict were fine since that's a tough dish to mess up, though through hard work and determination, they managed to do so as one of the eggs was medium boiled (at best). The highlight of the meal was the onion soup, which was perfect in every way. We went to a lot of great eateries while visiting DC, but this wasn't one of them. To be clear, the food isn't terrible, and what a business owner does re: unions isn't my business in the end; that said, this place feels like they are coasting on their reputation, charging higher prices for the prestige while failing to deliver on the quality that these prices should offer.

Midnight in Paris, but Make It D.C. There’s something about Le Diplomate that makes you believe in romance again — even if it’s just between you and your glass of Bordeaux. The lights shimmer like a Parisian dream, the chatter hums like a love song, and every bite feels like it’s flirting with you. The duck ragu? Intoxicating. The steak frites? A perfect affair of flavor and nostalgia. And the chocolate torte? Dangerous — the kind of sweet you shouldn’t trust but can’t resist anyway. Come here on a Friday night when the city feels alive. Order the wine, toss your hair, and let the night do what it does best — remind you that love isn’t gone, it’s just evolving. 💋 Pro tip: Don’t wait for someone to take you here. Go for yourself — Paris is more fun when you’re the main character.

I love shopping for flowers here. The flower department girl who helped me today in the morning with umbrella bouquet thank you! The flowers always fresh and she makes best bouquets! Sorry I don't remember her name but posting her photo with her consent!

I live in Seattle, but my daughter lives in DC. This is the closest Whole Foods store to her apartment. I wanted to surprise my daughter on her birthday by buying a bouquet of flowers and Chantilly cake. My daughter’s boyfriend picked them up. The staff, everyone that i talked to were wonderful. I requested the florist and she returned my call. She made a very beautiful bouquet. Just look at it! My daughter enjoyed it so much. She said it smelled so nice. Amazing staff, impressive customer service! If anyone need a bouquet, order it from this Whole Foods! The florist, she knows her stuff. This is a lot better than the bouquet you get from online florist. The Chantilly cake is also very good. Thank you, Whole Foods! Follow-up: may daughter and BF sent me a picture of the bouquet a week from her birthday. The lilies opened and filled the house with lovely smell. It was a huge bouquet. It lasted a long time so the flowers that were used were quite new and fresh. I am just truly thankful that I bought my daughter’s bouquet from this store!

Whole foods has really become mainstream now. They offer everything you could need and you don't need to feel AS BAD about what you're eating. This location is clean and well managed.

You may find anything here. Amazon fresh delivery here. Easy parking🅿️ you may find even warm food ready to eat. It is interesting to note that you will not find alcool due to local regulations. From meat, fish 🐠🐟 to pastry everything you need. Vegetables very fresh. Everything well. My favorite > the olives that were amazingly good.

I wanted to share an experience that left me very disappointed. I visited your store while sick and spent over $150 on various remedies and groceries to help me feel better. As I was leaving, two employees physically blocked my way and demanded to check my receipt, stating that they “didn’t see me check out.” I told them I was uncomfortable and asked to leave without being checked, but they insisted and acted as though this was a normal process. They proceeded to go through every item in my bag for several minutes, right in front of other customers. It was embarrassing and completely uncalled for, especially given that I had just completed my purchase properly. There was no apology or acknowledgment afterward. I’ve always been a loyal Whole Foods customer and have never been stopped or treated this way. I was shocked that while others walk out freely, I was singled out and made to feel humiliated for simply shopping. I hope this can be addressed appropriately and that staff are reminded to treat all customers with respect and discretion.

Pitango Gelato & Coffee in Penn Quarter is a stylish spot offering handcrafted, organic gelato and locally roasted coffee. Their fresh everyday gelato made from ingredients imported from Italy sets them apart, with flavors like Hazelnut and Local Raspberry that are described as life-changing. The purists at Pitango celebrate the classics done right, offering unique flavors like sesame and cardamom alongside more common ones.
We stopped here last year during a trip and knew we want to come back. 1 year later we walked the extra mile passing several coffee and ice cream stops knowing what a great place this is. Best cappuccino and gelato in town! Kudos to the owner! He knows customer service and has an amazing personality and spirit.
Silvia G — Google review
Pitango Gelato had a delicious variety of all the goodness in all the natural ingredients. After a late dinner around downtown, we stopped by Pitango Gelato and sometimes you cannot pass up on dessert. I had the two scoops in a cup - Hibiscus Blossom and Golden Kiwi flavors. My goodness was it delicious. I can't pick one over the other because both flavors complemented well together. My husband ordered a cup too - black tea and blood orange flavors. Outstanding. If you are an orange sherbet fan - the blood orange flavor tasted how a healthy orange sherbet should be. If we are in the area again, we will return. Staff was friendly and assertive with the busy crowds, all payments are accepted.

Big thumbs up for the chocolate hazelnut flavor – it was absolutely amazing. The place is very small and gets crowded easily. The service wasn’t very friendly — maybe the girl was just having a bad day, but it didn’t feel welcoming. Still, worth a visit for the taste!

I was strolling through Penn Quarter after a late happy hour with colleagues when I spotted Pitango Gelato DC, a cozy artisan gelato shop tucked right in downtown. I thought I’d just peek at the flavors out of curiosity with no plans to actually get anything. Well… that plan didn’t last long. The menu featured some of my favorites like passionfruit, mojito, and a floral hibiscus combo that immediately caught my eye. I figured a few taste tests couldn’t hurt, right? After sampling a few, I was completely sold. I planned to go with passionfruit and hibiscus until Grace, one of the amazing staff members, suggested I try the golden kiwi. It was bright, refreshing, and so unique that I changed my order on the spot. Shout out and thank you to Grace and the Saturday night Pitango team for being so friendly and full of personality. We chatted briefly while paying, and it made the visit even better. What started as a “quick look” turned into the sweetest surprise. If you’re in downtown DC or exploring Penn Quarter, definitely stop by Pitango Gelato for fresh, creative flavors and the best gelato in Washington DC. I’ll definitely be back for more! 🍨✨ They had Summer Course still posted on the door, so confirm before you go.

I stopped into Pitango Gelato after seeing the sign for sipping chocolate and I’m so glad I did. The sipping chocolate was amazing, super rich and delicious. Their coffee was really good too, and the staff were so friendly and pleasant. Definitely worth a visit!

Highly recommend the Sorbets (Strawberry was my favorite, was made from organic strawberries and all natural flavors, not too sweet or sour, but a gentle taste with an almost creamy texture!). The GM was an amazing person, he welcomes everyone. Latte was also good, I always praise those who fill my cup with milk instead of water when I asked for “light in ice” :)

Delicious gelato, but disappointing service The gelato was truly delicious, I had mango and golden kiwi, and my husband had mango and orange. The place is cute and nicely set up. However, the service really let the experience down. The staff was rude, and I left feeling uncomfortable. Sadly, I don’t think I’d return because of how we were treated.
Raissa N — Google review
Friendly, professional service. That said, gelato was served in a very soft melting state where it was messy to eat. Also, although the dish size was the same as other D.C. gelato places we visited, the serving size was significantly smaller.

CityCenterDC is home to award-winning bakery Milk Bar, specializing in quirky, inventive desserts. From cakes and cake truffles to cookies and milkshakes, there's something for everyone at this sweet spot.
Crack pie all the way. Easy to take to go and eat with your hands. I also tried the birthday cake. I prefer the crack pie. I love Milk Bar, what they represent, and the innovation of Christina Tosi but I wish they had a few lactose free options so I could try more of her creations.

I had heard a lot about Milk Bar. It was an interesting one-time taste. My friend and I shared grasshopper truffles $6/3truffles. They were okay. My friend had come before and prefers birthday cake truffles. The staff was friendly. The store is visually pleasing, but poorly designed for lines. There is very little sitting/standing place. It’s not a bad place, but it’s not quite worth the hype either.
Jaye B — Google review
This place is ok, it's tucked away from the main momofuko restaurant so watch for it's actual entrance. Once inside it can get cramped fast on a good day. The people are nice but the prices are gnarly. I guess you pay for the branding on top of whatever you order; personally my milkshake tasted like fruity pebbles + milk + white chocolate toblerone bar were blended together. It was good but I don't think I'd want to pay that much for it as it amounted to the same as a bowl of cereal with milk and a straw. I probably won't be coming back but you should try it at least once.
Raj C — Google review
We came here around the time that they opened and they already had people ordering their delicious pastries. The lady at the counter was kind and answered all of my questions. The crack pie was delicious. We came back and tried three cookies and their cereal milk ice cream. The ice cream was raisin Bran flavored. It was so good and very nostalgic. The corn, compost, and the cornflake marshmallow chocolate chip cookies were good. The cornflake one was probably my favorite, but they were all really good.
A S — Google review
If you like a mix of sweet and salty Milk Bar might be the place for you! A cute little bar-esque store front that could use more standing room and seems to be continuously busy. Counters don’t seem like they get cleaned often and perhaps many people just get food to go - but the inside can be a bit messy. None of the baked goods are baked in house it seems like they mostly just get shipments and serve those so eh. Milk Bars cereal milk soft serve definitely.... does not taste like cereal milk. It’s creamy and a little salty and oddly savory especially with the added “crunch” topping but I actually really loved that. To others it might be a bit off putting. The birthday cake was very standard funfetti. It came out of a freezer so wasn’t moist and fresh but was still good and the icing was pretty great. Not sure if it was worth the price as really.... it’s just a funfetti cake. Overall would come back for very specific cravings but DC is full of amazing bakeries so this is not my first or second or third choice.
Jeff L — Google review
The Cereal Milk Soft Serve tasted really sour. I'll come back and order again to see if it was just an off day when I came. Purchased 5 different cookies, and all the cookies were extremely sweet. If you love really sweet cookies, then these cookies are perfect for you.
Danny K — Google review
YUM!!! First, let me say that another rating was absolutely ridiculous and dramatic. We had a good laugh over the extreme dramatics. Anyway, the chocolate malt cake is real chocolate. If you’re craving chocolate, not the ridiculously sweet chocolate, this is the perfect slice of chocolate decadence. The crack pie is so good. I was born and raised in Georgia where Chess Pie is a thing at every potluck. Christina’s Crack Pie is on the money. It’s a perfect combination of textures with the crumbly crust and smooth filling along with just enough sugar to remind you of a pecan pie. We also tried the compost cookie, the cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow cookie, and the blueberry cream cookie. They are all delicious but our favorite is the cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow. It’s sweet with a hint of salt and crunch from the cornflakes. I’m so glad Christina decided to open a Milk Bar in D.C. just in time for our visit. Thank you, Christina, and your wonderful employees who kept the crowd flowing at 10pm!

Perfect spot for a quick dessert. Crack Pie and the Compost Cookie are an absolute must!! Crack pie has really good flavor but be aware that it is on the smaller side. Worth it though. I should have bought two of the Compost Cookie and its decent sized. Overall A+ Experience

Thomas Sweet is a well-known dessert shop located in Georgetown, serving up small-batch ice cream and frozen yogurt with various toppings and blend-ins mixed throughout. In addition to their frozen treats, the shop offers homemade fudge, chocolate bonbons, and other sweet treats. The classic establishment has been a staple in Georgetown since 1979 and also provides gourmet chocolates and coffee as indulgent options.
Homemade ice cream with plenty of option to choose from. They give like two samples each and are pretty patient with indecisiveness. I recommend to try it. The cones aren’t that good so you can just get it in the cups if you don’t want to be charged extra.
Jasmine W — Google review
Cute little sweet stop in Georgetown. Popped in after a museum visit and grabbed a small café au lait with rainbow sprinkles. Pleased with the generous portion and exactly what I needed on a hot afternoon. It was around $8, so just a heads-up: they don’t accept card payments under $10, so make sure you’ve got some cash if you’re flying solo. The line moved quickly and efficiently which was appreciated on a toasty day. The ice cream totally hit the spot and I will return to try more flavors!
Catie V — Google review
This is a staple in Georgetown. It’s definitely still tasty ice cream (just like I remember it 32 yrs ago!) and sorts but def more expensive. We come here once a month during summer months and I remember paying $38 for 4 orders with extra toppings and waffle cones. It’s a small place but the line is fast. Theres always 4 to 5 staff behind the counter taking care of the orders. There are inside and outside seating. They also serve hot chocolate and coffee. They also sell fudge. I haven’t tried it but it looks delicious. They also have pints and quarts of ice cream to go and they are pricey. The bathroom is small and it’s not for customers.
Lani B — Google review
Took the kiddos into the city, and decided to stop for a nice cool treat. Saw the sign for ice cream and headed inside. The space inside is rather small/tight which is common for most establishments in the district. There were several items to consider and a vast menu. The service was rather “meh” and that was the overall experience. The ice cream portions are big, and the prices aren’t cheap. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, please bypass due to the poop service experience. I don’t spend my money where my patronage is not appreciated.
John I — Google review
There’s always a long line up as this is one of the most popular ice cream shop in the area. Only cash is accepted unless you spend more than $20 (?) The ice cream is very rich and milky. I personally find it too sweet and prefer it to be fruitier. If you like gelato or sorbet, this may not be for you.
Sherman L — Google review
They listed many ice cream flavors on the board, but not all of them were actually available. On the bright side it‘s just interesting to see that so many famous people have visited this place before!! Maybe the staff were friendlier than now?! They are not convinced to help you at all!! We tried Cinammon and Pistachio ice cream. I would definitely not recommend the Pistachio- It was salty, bitter, and had a strange aftertaste. Cinammon falvor was‘nt bad, but it also was’nt anything special. Overall, the experience felt pretty average and not particularly unique.
Arefeh G — Google review
I love this place. It is not super fancy, but they have dozens of flavors, great portion size for the money, and most importantly, really good ice cream. Make sure you visit when you are walking up Wisconsin.

Line can get long but the staff is super friendly and will give you lots of ice cream. Rum&raisins is delicious but pistachio was pretty average. However both had that stretchy, rich gelato consistency and creaminess.

A Baked Joint is a spacious bakery and cafe located in Mount Vernon Square, run by the same owners as Baked & Wired. The bakery offers a variety of artisanal breads, including country sourdough, multigrain, polenta, sesame semolina, and more. They also feature a rotating selection of specialty loaves like quinoa-turmeric flavored with black pepper and zaatar.
This coffee shop is truly delightful. On Friday nights, they host live music, making an afternoon pick-me-up extra special. In addition to their great coffee, they also offer delicious pizza and desserts. The atmosphere is perfect for unwinding after a long day at work. The service is impeccable and efficient, and there are plenty of tables available for seating. I highly recommend stopping by here for an afternoon visit or for breakfast during the day.

Went here for a quick bite and a cup of coffee and was very impressed with the coffee. Never mind the beautiful design in the cream, it was delicious coffee. The biscuit sandwich was very flavorful as well. We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful day as I sipped my coffee. Love the look of this place.

I came here because this place was highly recommended. The food was good, but I wish I had been given a heads up about the limited seating and the long wait for my order (25 minutes). I ordered a bahn mi and a salted caramel latte and they were good.
Angelica L — Google review
The desserts, yes, the coffee, yes, the food, maybe. We came to a baked joint after a busy day seeing the monuments. We were hot and tired and cranky and ready for something tasty and refreshing. The breakfast sandwich was small, but flavors were good. The goat cheese gave it the perfect tang. The Caesar salad was very, very ... very lemony. Not bad, but def avoid if you dont like sour. The yogurt bowl was a bit lackluster. The yogurt could use some agave or honey. The tuna salad was probably everyone's favorite entree. The coffee was great, and the desserts were good. The cupcakes were delicious. We especially loved the strawberry one.

Phenomenal experience from food to staff to ambience. Can’t wait to visit DC again just to try their other menu options. Avocado toast and salted caramel iced latte are divine

We had a great experience visiting this bakery coffee shop! After finding the menu on a piece of paper in front of the register we got some egg biscuits, pastries and coffees. I especially liked the almond croissant and the salmon on baguette. The coffee was a bit underwhelming but their main focus seems to be the food. I will add this: the name of the place (a baked joint) seemed really weird to me. I almost didn’t go because of it. I’ve lived in Colorado for some years and going to a place with any marijuana theme is not a place you want to take your kids to. That being said this place did not have any marijuana theme at all and the atmosphere was really nice. Especially loved the dried flowers on display

Love this place. Service was great and the food was outstanding. Their bread lived up to the high expectations. Fig jelly with honey on sourdough was so good we went back for a repeat order. The other items - Nutella, peanut butter on toast with banana was great as well. Chai was awesome too!!!

We like this charming place, our go-to spot for good coffee and freshly baked treats. The atmosphere is delightfully bright, with plenty of seating options. Nestled in the heart of Bethesda, Praline Bakery & Bistro has been delighting visitors since 2006 with its charming ambiance and delectable offerings. This inviting venue is a haven for lovers of French cuisine and artisanal pastries alike. Guests can indulge in a variety of sweet treats like macarons, un feuillete aux pommes, or une mousse au chocolat, all crafted to perfection.
At first glance, Praline Bakery & Bistro, located in The Shops at Sumner Place in Bethesda, may look like just another storefront. But stepping inside reveals a hidden gem that beautifully blends French charm with warm, neighborhood hospitality. On the first floor, you’ll find an elegant bakery filled with colorful macarons, beautifully crafted tarts, éclairs, buttery croissants, fresh breads, and other pastries that could easily belong in a Parisian patisserie. The staff are welcoming and attentive, making the experience feel both personal and refined. The real surprise awaits upstairs, where the bistro offers a spacious, inviting atmosphere perfect for a date, family lunch, or a relaxed gathering with friends. The menu is distinctly French, featuring traditional dishes such as French Onion Soup, Escargots, Steak Frites, Poulet Grand-Mère, Salmon Paillard, and savory buckwheat crêpes, all carefully prepared and elegantly plated. Even the desserts—like Crème Brûlée and Tarte Tatin—stay true to their French roots. While there are a few contemporary additions like the Praline Burger, everything is crafted with a French culinary approach that keeps the menu cohesive. In addition to the cozy indoor dining area, the second floor features an open-air terrace with tables and umbrellas—perfect for enjoying fresh air in a more relaxed setting. Personally, I would suggest adding a few plants for increased privacy between tables, but overall, the space is lovely and well thought out. One of the key advantages of this location is the free parking available on-site, a major plus in the Bethesda area. Whether you're planning a full meal or just stopping by to pick up pastries, it makes the visit even more convenient. In short, discovering Praline Bakery & Bistro was a delightful and memorable experience. What looks like a simple shop from the outside reveals a true culinary oasis inside, rich in flavor, tradition, and heart. Don’t hesitate to visit, especially if you’re craving a little taste of France right here in Maryland.

Our group enjoyed a delicious lunch on their patio on a glorious day in late May. The place had the staff to seat and serve a group of nearly twenty, and to provide excellent service throughout. My mushroom, spinach and cheese omelette was delectable with a good size spring mix salad accompaniment. Others enjoyed their Nicoise and Praline salads, the baked salmon with ratatouille, and their Lorraine and veggie quiches.

Absolutely love this local gem. Brought a number of friends who had never been there, to eat outside on the patio on a lovely night - everyone was very impressed with the service and quality of food. They said 'What a find!' Shout out to our delightful server Stephanie, who was so polite, patient and just charming. We all will be back ! PS - and you will not find a better pastry anywhere !

I’ve eaten here more times than I care to. Why? Because since they opened, my mom, grandma, and MIL like Praline’s proximity to their nail salon. So, for the sake of convenience, we patronize Praline (I’ve recently gotten them to drive an extra 5 minutes down Mass Ave for a more enjoyable dining experience). The Quiche Lorraine is okay (it’s edible but so is the frozen one from Trader Joe’s) but EVERY entree I’ve ever tried has been a disappointment; from the pot pie (runny filling), to the grilled shrimp (overcooked), to the scallops (overcooked), to a hamburger (you guessed it, overcooked; and I don’t mean by a little bit, I mean going way past medium rare to well done). The 2 stars are for their pastries and apple tart. Service almost always comes with a pretentious attitude too (host/hostess too).
Piko — Google review
This is mainly in regards to one item. The chicken tenders at the bakery used to be super good. Hand breaded and all perfectly irregular . Last Friday however, there was a dramatic change ! They were now from bagged frozen. Not sure what’s going on, just hope the quality of other things doesn’t go down. Oh also, some days the croissants are pretty awesome. Days like Sunday and Saturday they don’t seem to be as good .
Nathan N — Google review
Terrible place!! Stay away!! This is a popular spot among locals but it’s aged and service sucks. The Bistro upstairs might be better but it’s full service and doesn’t open until 11am. Until then, you’re left with weak coffee, fridge cold & not fully baked quiches, mediocre pastries and hopeless staff. Don’t expect to get a plate (even a paper one) for your “breakfast” or even a cup of water after you shell out almost ten bucks for a crappy “quiche” that’s inedible as is. If this is meant to go, why have seating?! Confusing! I’ll not be going back! Ever!
Misha K — Google review
The food was good but they said they didn’t have water for paying customers, only bottles for purchase. Then after a while someone begrudgingly brought water for our toddler but not for the rest of us. The heat index outside was over 100 degrees. Very strange. We didn’t just walk in and ask for water, we ordered and paid for our food order. Either they’re desperate for the additional $3 per bottle, were trying to get a bigger tip, or just lacked basic customer service skills. They’re only getting 4 stars because we used to be regulars and this was atypical a few years ago, otherwise it would be 2 or 3 stars.
Liz B — Google review
We tried the bistro part for the first time for a quick early dinner on a Sunday evening. They have a small patio upstairs which we enjoyed (but had to move indoors due to mosquitoes!). It was quiet and the service was good. Onion soup was delicious! We also ordered two caesar salads (salmon and chicken), which were very big portions and delicious as well. We paid 10$ for soup, 22$ for salmon caesar salad and, 17$ for chicken caesar salad. I’d like to try the bakery part soon. Overall, it was a solid 4-4,5 star. I recommend this business.

One of the best bakeries to pop into for great coffee and amazing selection of bakery. The variety is what’s mind blowing, so many great and interesting choices. They have both savory and sweet things as well as other breakfast food they prepare. The two gentlemen sitting next to us were eating a shakshouka that looked and smelled delicious. The labneh pita was delightful. My friend didn’t care for her croissant as much. While fresh, she said she had better in smaller places. She expected this to be better. Matcha was superb, well made and not sweet like it ought to be. The ambiance is nice and it’s a very busy location. It’s bustling with locals and tourists; we heard French, German, and Portuguese spoken at nearby tables. Fun people watching spot. For a very busy spot the service is quite dialed in. Our food and drinks were provided within 5-7minutes. Staff is helpful and friendly. Go, linger, and enjoy your cafe time!

This place is absolutely stunning—like stepping right into a Pinterest dream café! ✨ With minimal crowds, it’s the perfect spot to slow down and truly enjoy every bite. Here’s what we ordered this time: • Shakshuka: A bit too watery this round—not quite as impressive as my last visit 😅 • Latte & Matcha Latte: Both solid choices for a cozy café moment • Cheese Boureka: Flaky pastry filled with cheese, brushed with bacon fat for that smoky, indulgent flavor—dangerously good! 🧀 For dessert: • Pistachio Cherry Tart: A little dry, and the cherry flavor was too subtle. Might’ve been better with blueberries or strawberries for a brighter pop. • Pear Tart: Surprisingly delightful! A poached half pear with just the right amount of crunch, nestled in a buttery tart crust—definitely recommend! 🍐 Looked it up while walking and turns out this spot is originally from Israel 🇮🇱—no wonder it has that unique Mediterranean-meets-American vibe! The whole aesthetic totally feels like it belongs in NYC already. Time to expand, please! 💥

The food was delicious! The chicken sandwich and the salmon sandwich were really good. The coffee was also great. However I recently ordered delivery from here and tried the caramel coffee mousse. Unfortunately, there was a strong spice added maybe nutmeg or something similar, both on top and inside the mousse. It didn’t taste like caramel or coffee at all. I couldn’t even finish one bite. I’ll forgive them this one dessert because I really love all their breakfasts and lunches😂 Still, I do think they should mention this spice in the name or description, because it’s definitely not for everyone.

This bakery was pretty good. It was very busy for a Saturday and the people there were on the rude side for my taste. The staff and servers were great and the food was tasty. The outdoor seating was nice but because of their location full of pigeons and birds. The price point is kind of high, just an fyi.

I’m so sorry to leave this review. My score is only for the pistachio croissant, since I didn’t try the other food or drinks. I’ve had amazing pistachio croissants in Washington, D.C. and Georgetown, but this one was very disappointing. It was dry, didn’t seem fresh, and had no cream inside. I went on Sunday at 11 a.m., when there were plenty of people, so it wasn’t like I came too late and couldn’t expect freshness. I’m sorry, but I left very disappointed.

Unfortunately had a miserable experience here. The manager and other workers did their best to turn it around, and i genuinely appreciate them. But the takeaway here is that the food was mediocre at best. The meals came with a gnarly store bread instead of the “sourdough” that was advertised. The replacement bread was still not their full sourdough that was sitting in the display window. The breakfast patties tasted like slimy frozen meat. The shakouka must have been sitting in the window for a long time (see picture). The biggie here is that after being extremely clear about my severe anaphylactic allergies, I ended up drinking a latte that had sesame paste in it (under a different name). They kindly refunded us entirely, but I was itchy and then stomach ill for the next 24 hours. It really set me back as I was visiting the city. The refund was nice, but really not enough given how much of a setback this was. :-/ it’s really lucky I stopped drinking early on, because if not I would have been in the emergency room. So yeah, although the space is really nice, given my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this spot to anyone. And be extremely careful if you have allergies!!!

Nestled in Bethesda, Fresh Baguette is a delightful bakeshop that exudes modern charm with its playful atmosphere and cozy patio. Since its inception in 2013 by French baker Florent de Felcourt, this bakery has become renowned for its exceptional baguettes made from organic flour and leavened with sourdough starter. The meticulous process includes a 24-hour fermentation period, resulting in four distinct varieties: super seed, traditional, sesame, and rustic.
I loved it some of the best pastry I have ever had. The “croissant bagel” breakfast sandwiches were game changing. I tried the Norwegian and pastrami ones. The mini tarts and pastries are lovely. I wish you would open in Los Angeles or even better Ventura County!

Wow! Everything we ordered was delicious. It’s a small bakery but very nice and clean and the smells of fresh baked breads and pastries hits you as soon as you open the door and makes you smile. Strawberry croissant was really good and the Kouign Amann was perfect. A little too much ham on the Parisian Sandwich but still very good. Highly recommend.

This fresh Baguette french bakery is a discovery: we were totally unprepared for the deliciousness of the food there. They have proposed a new sandwich approach that we immediately felt could revolutionize the sandwich field. Yes, it is that unbelievable in taste , in appearance. You owe to yourselves to drive there and order one CROGEL sandwich. A palate revolution !!

The Cro’gel was amazing, great balance of the ingredients. The almond croissant had some filling inside, made it unique and delicious. Definitely need to try!

Nice little bakery in Bethesda. Their baguettes won awards! We parked free at the garage 1 block away on a Sunday.

My daughter and I are thrilled that Paris Baguette has finally opened in Bethesda. We had been eagerly waiting ever since the “Coming Soon” sign went up. Their cakes are truly unbeatable—every one we’ve tried has been delicious—and we especially love the sweet rice ball. We find ourselves coming here almost every day, not only to enjoy the wide variety of drinks but also to study. The beautiful ambiance and lighting make it a perfect place for both relaxing and getting work done.
Jackie K — Google review
A gem in Bethesda! An experienced baker makes the French pastries and bread here, e.g., the croissants are tasty, laminated, fresh, and well-baked. The Kouigan Amann is crunchy, flaky and sweet. An assortment of novelty/seasonal pastries (in different sizes) are always fun to try. The coffee is good, but oat milk is the only milk alternative. The lighting is bright. There is plenty of seating (indoor and outdoor). Closes early, six o’clock.

We were looking for a source of fresh sourdough bread while in town! Fresh Baguette and Mia delivered! I called from an hour away to confirm they had loaves of bread and Mia was very helpful and gracious. She described the various types they had which there were many! We selected ancient grains and sliced! Yum! We found a rare parking spot right out front and Mia greeted us! Bread was ready! Latte for my wife! Thank you Mia! We made delicious sourdough toast that evening and I have sandwiches for today. Life is good with fresh baked sourdough!

Pie Sisters is a cozy bakery run by three sisters, offering a variety of sweet and savory pies. Their selection includes dozens of flavors made with seasonal ingredients, such as the standout pulled pork barbecue pie on the savory side and the delightful key lime pie for those with a sweet tooth. Customers can enjoy their pies by the slice, whole, or in single-serve portions. The establishment also offers refreshing drinks to complement their delicious pies.
After walking all around Georgetown in the heat, we stopped by Pie Sisters to cool off...didn't realize how great the pies were! We went for the mini pies and got one peach and one other (I think it was strawberry rhubarb). Packed with flavor and the right size for a quick snack. The price was also good, too. We also ordered a side of milk that was ice cold...the perfect pairing. The folks working were also super nice and chatted a bit. If you can sit by the window, it gives a nice view of Arlington and the bridge. Really enjoyed it and looking to go back again for a few more of the mini pies. Definitely worth checking out if you are in Georgetown.

Absolutely beautiful. The pie bites were smaller than i'd expected but they were sooooo goood that i bought them in slices too. The pumpkin was great, and the cookies and cream was the best pie ive ever had. Not too sweet and the cream was perfect. Finished them on the spot!

This is a little cute place away from other crowded spots in Georgetown these days. Their Pies taste very good and are fresh. Better than that their pies taste home made without a lot of sugar. The quality of their coffee and drinks however is another story and not the best in the area.

We ended up here accidentally as we were waiting somewhere else for cupcakes but it was taking too long. Somebody that saw us at the cupcakes' store told us to try the amazing pies from Pie Sisters... they are delicious! I might find the pic in order to repost it. Paradise and orgasm for the senses.

Ordered 4 dozen pie bites for Pi day for the office. They were a delicious hit, eveyone loved them. Delivery was on time, and they were nicely packaged. They even have dairy free. Highly recommended!

Ordered chicken slice and bbq pork slice. Have to say the pork was very overpowering but the chicken was well balanced. Not sure if it’s worth coming back. We also got a sweet mini pie to go and they gave the box to us with it upside down. We never got to try it.

Cute to stop and relax for a few minutes. However Pies crusts are too hard for me and the fillings are either tough or not sweet. The Jumberry Pie was good though

Shouk is a stylish, fast-casual eatery located in a small brick building with a commitment to serving exclusively vegan Middle Eastern-inspired dishes. The menu is influenced by the flavors of Israel and Palestine and features a variety of sandwiches, dips, salads, and snacks. Customers rave about the roasted cauliflower dish and the selection of pita and dips, including hummus, beet hummus, and cashew labneh.
My boyfriend and I visited this place while in town for the weekend from RTP, and hands down, it’s the best pita and falafel spot we’ve ever had! Ordering was a breeze with their self-serve iPads, and we were able to seat ourselves right away. We both got falafel pitas, and they were packed with flavor and generously filled with crispy, delicious falafels. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, adding great texture to each bite. The spicy fries were incredibly crispy and stayed that way—never getting flat or soggy. One of the coolest touches was how the pitas were served in a mini box with a built-in pierce feature, making them super easy to eat. We’re so sad this spot is only in DC and Maryland because it would absolutely thrive in NC. Honestly, we’d make the trip back just for the food. Easily a 11/10 experience!
Imari S — Google review
The entire menu seems delicious and I can’t wait to go back. We got a couple of different things off the menu and loved every single thing. The produce was all fresh and crisp, the flavors balanced each other well, and everything was cooked perfectly. The staff were very friendly and quick with getting everything out. They have a nice indoor seating area, the AC just seems to struggle a bit so it might get a bit hot for you.

Wow! Shouk was incredible 😋 Everything that we tried was absolutely on point 👉 The Falafel was crispy yet soft and delicious inside. The Schwarma was filled with perfectly seasoned mushrooms 🍄 The sauces that we tried were quite good as well. This is our new favorite Vegan spot in DC. Well done ladies of Shouk!

Wanting to visit the Old Post office Clock tower , we decided to stop by lunch at this shouk location Washington DC. Having tried Falafel and Shawarma bowls we wanted to try the sandwiches this time. We Picked fried Shouk'n and Shouk Burger. Fried Shouk 'n - Oyster mushroom schnitzel was more appetizing visually but little oily as the mushroom soaks oil but I was expecting it. Didn't taste bad though . The Shouk burger was HEAVY , it was huge heavy patty made form various lentils and was very filling. We even got the Malabi dessert which was a pretty bland , NOT SWEET, pudding . It was like eating creamy pan yogurt with a flan texture. Definitely wont order again . Overall its cool place and good food .
Gaurav B — Google review
Fresh food at reasonable prices. We enjoyed our shwarma bowl and felafel bowl. Liked the just-spicy-enough jalapeno-cusbara dressing. Clean place with fun street market stall atmosphere. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Wheelchair accessible.
Adina K — Google review
I love Shouk! This is my go-to spot whenever I travel to DC. My goal is to try everything on their menu, but it is hard because everything I've had has been spectacular! Everything is fresh, vibrant, and flavorful. The fried mushrooms are nicely seasoned, and the fries are one of a kind. The sauce flavor profile is unique and has you craving more.
Denzel R — Google review
One of my favorite places to go. Shouk'n is my favorite with dried mushrooms and love the kraut and pickles. Used to go to other location before it closed. Right next to convention center. Fast service and fried foods best eaten fresh.

Mushrooms felt burnt, but wrap still good… atmosphere and service ok… I wanted to like this place more but there are other options nearby that I think are better in the same price range. Chaia Tacos, also vegan but I feel is better taste and choice.

Nestled in the heart of Georgetown, Washington DC, Dog Tag Bakery is more than just a place to indulge in delectable baked goods. This non-profit establishment serves as a supportive space for veterans through its fellowship program. The bakery offers an array of freshly baked treats such as breads, cookies, and cakes while also providing employment and educational opportunities for wounded veterans.
At little pricey, but standard for Georgetown and it’s nice to know that you’re helping a good cause! It has a nice environment, lots of space to sit, delicious pastries and great customer service! Overall, really impressed and will definitely be back!

One of those hidden gems in Georgetown. Great place to sit and relax with a drink and a snack. Clean, quiet and plenty of seating. Great food too. The spicy hot chocolate cookie is spicy but not overly so..just enough to add a little bit of heat. Their brownies are rich and delicious (and they're already cut in half so you can share with a friend). Friendly staff too.

Dog Tag Bakery is a cute bakery and cafe in the heart of Georgetown. They serve baked goods and sandwiches, along with good coffee. The bakery is owned and run by veterans with all proceeds going to support vets. It can be found right between Water Street and the Tow Path. Street parking is available and there’s also Georgetown Parking a block away.

Cute little bakery, right off of Wisconsin Avenue. Very good selection of baked goods, sandwiches, and beverages. Honey rosemary biscuit is to die for! I have visited this bakery about 10 times, and they are always quick and friendly. Extra bonus is supporting our veterans and military families through their business. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Very cool spot in Georgetown with a great mission. Plenty of room to sit a ton of different treats to eat. I only had a black coffee which was lovely but I’m not going lie the baked goods looked out of this world

My thoughts are mixed , I ordered red velvet cake which was really bad. All I tasted was dye & super dry cake & the frosting in the middle layers was almost like a sour taste I dont know what or why this cake was so horrible but Im extremely disappointed however the chocolate covered brownie was a 9/10 it was very delicious & fresh. I also ordered the cinnamon bun which was out of stock which I didn’t realize that until I rec my order from doordash...So that was a big disappointment as well.

Love this non-profit bakery and their mission. Stop by for baked goods and coffee in the morning and know you’re supporting a good cause. Some evenings Dog Tag hosts open mic comedy and story-telling events in partnership with Armed Services Arts Partnership, another awesome veteran and family focused community non-profit that provides free arts and comedy classes! Give this place a try on your next visit to Georgetown. P.S., the house blend coffee is a solid performer.

Their experienced pastry chefs handcraft every treat with the freshest ingredients, offering a variety of mouthwatering cake flavors and miniature French pastries. Known for their authentic and aesthetically beautiful French tartes, this bakery is popular among sophisticated palates. With locations in Baltimore and Washington D.C.
Pâtisserie Poupon is one of the best bakeries I’ve been to in the US. The pastries are top-quality, and their chocolate eclair is the best eclair I’ve ever had. Their selection of coffee and pastries is wide and very authentic to France. The coffee is well-priced, and the prices of the pastries well-reflect their quality. The staff was very down-to-earth and left a great impression on me. I would highly recommend trying this at some point instead of the more popular chain French cafes in the area!

Hi Buttercream staff. I ordered a cake a few weekends ago. A 2 tier cake with two different flavors. I hosted a surprise party for my boyfriend. The cake was the part I was the most nervous about. When I saw the cake, I almost cried. It was beyond the most beautiful cake I had ever seen. It was beyond perfect and beyond what I was looking for. After I saw the cake, I immediately took a deep breath. When I saw it, I knew I made the right decision. I can’t thank the staff at buttercream enough. Seriously. My boyfriend loved it, and was amazed when he saw it. All of our guests loved it, and brought pieces home. We’ve multiple people from our party continue to ask us about the cake. The flavors were beyond delicious. Every person commented and was staring at their plates while eating this cake. It was perfect.

We couldn’t get enough! We will continue to order from Buttercream for special events and hope they reopen the shop so we can try more of their delicious treats! Can’t wait for our next special event that we need a cake for!

These cream puffs were THE HIT for our small backyard wedding reception! We had a cake (not provided by Buttercream), but, it was overshadowed by these delicious puffs. Everyone asked where we got them, and kept going back to get more or try to choose one with a different flavor (we had mocha and vanilla). These are unlike anything I've had from anywhere else - just absolute perfection. Having something fancy and unexpected like this really made our unconventional wedding feel a little more special. I even had a friend sneak several into my car so I would be sure to have a few as we drove away (because you can be sure that there were no leftovers!) Thank you Buttercream!

I ordered a Best of Buttercream Box back in August. Just catching up with my review now. Quarantine inspired me to try a lot of local businesses and discovering pastry boxes was a fun twist on ordering takeout. Buttercream's Best of box is offered every few weeks in advance online and you don't know what's in it until a day or two before pick-up. You know there will be 6-7 pieces and it costs $37. Check out my photos to see what I got. All of the pastries I got were high quality, rich, and delicious. For me, however, they were too sweet. I split each piece with my Mom and I still couldn't finish any of them in one sitting. I would have preferred a lighter touch. I think other people would be completely in heaven, though. The ordering and pick up process is super quick and I loved that the chef actually handed me my box with some tips on storing.

Seylou Bakery is a minimalist bakery located in the Shaw district, offering a variety of artisan breads and pastries made from locally grown grains. The bakery, opened by baker Jonathan Bethony and his wife Jessica Azeez, prides itself on using whole grains sourced from local farms to give each loaf its unique character. All flours are milled on-site, and the breads are baked in a large wood-burning oven.
Absolutely amazing pastries with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. We ended up getting what she called the french onion soup pastrie (but i think it's real name was something else) and it was wonderful. Super rich with strong cheese and layers of well cooker onion that were just underneath. The bread itself was fluffy and a bit chewy as well. The staff was super friendly, great with recommendations, and was able to heat up our pastrie pretty fast. The atmosphere is bright with lots of natural light coming in and a sleek design. The seating fills up fast but the line wasn't too long.

Amazing fresh pastries made from their in-house whole grains. No white flour! Loved everything I tried! They also make their own coffee and tea syrups from scratch. BlackBerry, vanilla bean, lavender, etc, etc. Coffee is fresh group and wonderful. Sophia is a delight. You can tell she loves what she does! Have come everyday I have been in DC. They are closed on Mondays so I stocked up on Sunday…. I am smiling as I post this and savor every bite and sip…

If you think you’ve had good bread, Seylou will change your mind. A Must-Visit in DC Friendly staff, incredible bread, and pastries that look as good as they taste. The rye sourdough is outstanding fresh, flavorful, and made from grains milled right on site. A real gem in the nation’s capital!
Noam I — Google review
Great bread, but nothing too special about the pastries. They claim very novel flavors but you can't taste those ingredients. Their muhammara danish tasted more like bell pepper paste than the tang of muhammara, for instance. The kale/cheddar scone wasn't balanced and more bitter from the kale than it should have been. Corn breton was great, but in that it was basically a southern corn cake, not a twist on the classic. The cinnamon roll is nothing special. Plus: 1) They don't list their prices in the store. You just are charged what you're charged 2) If you want your pastry warmed, it's a whole song and dance
Anagha U — Google review
I've been to Seylou at least seven times now. Always enjoy the pastries and ambiance. First two times I ever went the lattes were great! Lately, I find coffee grounds at the bottom of most iced lattes I've ordered there. Coffee itself is great, but the grounds getting in one's mouth ruins the experience. Please don't let your coffeeshop go downhill -- more extensive training for the baristas would be great so that coffee grounds stop ending up in the drinks. Thanks for your consideration.

This place is like a warm hug every time I go. Their pastries and delicious, clearly made with great care. My all time favourite are their savoury scones, I take as many as are available because they ran out fast! Pizza night is a delight as well and you should def try it! The staff is very kind and there is a family feel to the atmosphere 🥰

This place offers a wide variety of breads and breakfast pastries—everything looks delicious. The coffee service is quick, even though the space is small and always busy. I tried the cheddar scone and a cappuccino, and both were excellent.
Akif S — Google review
High quality and very creative offerings. I appreciate the use of local ingredients and the clear thoughtfulness behind each of them in a pastry; their placement, what they’re paired with and how much. Everything we tried was perfectly curated and balanced but the flatbread in particular was herbacious, floral, soft and buttery - perfection! The prices are very reasonable, too. I would greatly encourage anyone reading this to ignore the reviews complaining about this. Seylou is a one of a kind bakery that mills their grains, goes above and beyond in their offerings and their staff is well looked after - you can tell this by their gracious customer service, how they speak and present themselves. Seylou is worth the consideration of swinging by and every praise already given! What an incredibly special piece of DC ❤️

The amazing reviews of Nino's Bakery are spot-on! We went based on the google reviews, and I'm so glad we did. My husband and I both said that the only better croissants we've ever had were in Paris itself. We ordered two almond croissants, a pistachio croissant and a chocolate croissant, I seriously don't think I could pick one as my favorite - each one was out of this world. Light, flaky, buttery but not greasy, just sweet enough - really spectacular. We got there on a Saturday morning around 8:50am (they open at 9am) and there was already a line which I now realize is totally justified. The actual store is tiny inside, there's really no where to sit and eat, so I would consider this a to-go place. They do have a couple of tables outside, but it gets a bit awkward to sit and eat at one when there's a line of people waiting to get inside. All in all, if you're considering a visit to Nino's, I would say RUN don't walk!

During my visit to DC I wanted to stop by Nino’s after reading the positive reviews. Nino’s does not disappoint! You know it’s good when there is a line before they open. Their croissants are soft and flaky, and comparable to the ones in Paris. The gruyere was my favorite! Highly recommend checking them out.

I went on a weekday morning around 9–10 am, and there was already a line. The shop is super cute, adorable design and cozy vibe! I ordered the pasticho croissant, the sesame croissant, a scone, and a coffee for takeout. The coffee and scone were pretty standard, nothing special. But the croissants? So good! Both were filled with cream and packed with flavor. The pasticho one especially was amazing! Definitely recommend stopping by to try the croissants.

hands down the best croissants in dc! the bakery is rather small so seating is very limited but i tried various bakeries in dc and nino’s croissant was outstanding, and fresh off the oven. the bakers were also very sweet!

I’ve been searching for good bakeries in DC ever since I moved from Korea, and I finally found one. The croissants here are so soft and not overly sweet! it’s the first time I’ve had this kind of flavor in DC. I went twice just last week, and I really hope this place stays around for a long time.
Taeri B — Google review
They offer a unique blend of pastries that are quite unique and serve La Colombe coffee. They don't have much indoor dining space but they do have a few tables outside. I appreciate that it's named after the owner's dog and they have dog treats as well.
James — Google review
Nino’s Bakery is incredible and has the best croissant in DC. Make sure to go early because they sell out quickly. The pistachio croissant is comparable to ones I’ve had in Italy, it was fluffy, sweet, and full of flavor. The seasonal raspberry croissant is also amazing and deserves a permanent spot on the menu. I’ll be dreaming about these pastries for a while.

Milk Bar is a renowned bakery founded by pastry chef Christina Tosi, known for her inventive and playful approach to traditional desserts. The menu features a wide array of treats, including the iconic Cereal Milk soft serve, naked layer cakes that showcase all the moist layers, cake truffles, assorted cookies, and more. Special occasion cakes like the chocolate caramel pretzel cake and famous birthday cake are also available.
I can never seem to time my visits right with the super complicated pie that they make here, I'm not even sure if they're still making it. With that being said, all the pies, cake slices, and cookies I have bought from here have been really good. The compost cookie is definitely a must try but really there's no wrong choices here!

I was excited to try this place as for some reason was on a couple list for best desserts in DC area, but unfortunately this place left me extremely disappointed. I talked with staff for a bit and was convinced to try the “Crack Pie” and it was honestly ok a best, but very expensive especially for the portion size. Staff were friendly. Maybe we just tried the wrong things, but we were disappointed by everything. Overall I’d pass on giving it a chance
Coach T — Google review
It was my first time visiting Milk Bar. The atmosphere of the store great & the staff was really friendly and gave good recommendations. I got the cereal milk soft serve with cornflake crunch. It was good but a bit too sweet and overpriced for the size in my opinion.
Magali K — Google review
I was excited to finally try Milk Bar after hearing so much hype and seeing this on Chef'sTable, but honestly it was a big letdown. Every cookie variety I sampled (6 different cookies in total) tasted almost exactly the same—overloaded with sugar and that same artificial sweetness you’d find in any non-organic grocery store cookie. The ingredient lists read more like a commercial snack than a bakery treat, with nothing that feels fresh or thoughtfully sourced. For a brand with such a premium image (and premium prices), I expected unique flavors and quality ingredients. Even the famous ice cream with corn flakes was a disappointment — it was so sugary I couldn’t even finish it. Overall, everything felt mass-produced, overly sweet, and lacking the depth or originality that’s constantly advertised.

Ana has exceptional customer service. I came in for the first time to celebrate my best friend’s birthday and she took great care of us. These cookies are amazing. I also tried to seasonal apple cider truffles and had to spin the block once more for another 3 pack

So happy we finally came to the DC site. Milk is always our go to place in NYC, and we didn’t know there was one here. Customer service was also amazing!! Great variety.

Literally the stuff of dreams! I first learnt about milk bar and Christina Tosi after watching her episode on Chef's table years ago, and ever since I had vaguely thought to myself how cool it would be to go and experience her innovative flavours. Imagine my excitement when I bumped into one in DC! I couldn't have asked for a better experience: everything is *objectively* delicious (both the classics and the seasonal treats). Juan was exceptionally kind, warm and welcoming, and made sure I had the most fantastic experience. I left with in a daze, with a full belly and a big fat smile on my face. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)

Pretty bad. I wouldn’t expect a “fresh baked” cookie to be wrapped in a plastic packaging. You can get the same quality of cookies from like Subway….. or Jimmy John’s. Nothing remarkable. Overpriced. Tourist/social media trap.

Mah-Ze-Dahr Bakery is a stylish and well-maintained establishment with a somewhat high price point. The bakery offers around ten tables for indoor and outdoor seating, and the staff, while generally friendly, may come off as slightly aloof. The coffee menu is conveniently displayed on a screen, but the pastry options are not as readily visible before ordering. Despite this, the coffee is of high quality.
I had the prettiest and tastiest pain au chocolat at this place. 😊 Great morning vibes and I was there early enough that it wasn't crowded. I do also notice that some customers picking up their orders block the bike lane with their cars, that not much to do with the cafe, more on the city to enforce.
Joi W — Google review
This place used to be good when it was new. Service has gone downhill over the last few months and just has different feel now with newer staff who don't really brighten my morning with their blah energy. I still stop by here to pick up either a croissant or a donut + cappuccino, with no expectation to be wowed. But if time allows I'll go elsewhere.
Nola — Google review
A great, casual, local cafe and bakery with amazing pastries. We keep trying new things on the menu every time we go and everything so far has been delicious. There are good savoury and sweet options such as the smoked salmon croissant and the brioche donut. You can also grab whole cakes and small gifts if you’re entertaining at home. The staff have always been friendly and helpful whenever we have been there. The cafe has a laidback atmosphere - I often see people working or catching up in there.
Haj A — Google review
Ambience 5/5 Staff friendliness 4/5 Cost 2/5 very pricy Portion sizes 4/5 Efficiency 2/5 I had excellent espresso here and perfectly steamed milk for a vanilla latte. The size of Illinois latte was a little small considering the price I got a breakfast sandwich and a latte. The cost was $18. The flow for pick up of your food items was very confusing. When you order you’re supposed to pick up your drink at the to go counter, but if it’s something quick, they hand it to you over the register if you order food you pick that up right in front of the register unfortunately unless you order a dessert or something box to go then it’s at the pick up window. So they might call your name but your order could be at two different locations and it’s very busy and you have to walk through the line of people to get to the front again so it’s just very congested. The latte was exceptional and you can tell the syrups are made from scratch. However, the breakfast sandwich was very satisfying, but the texture was a little off for the biscuit. If you’re going to do a thick, large biscuit, that’s not flaky, it should be pretty crumbly. This was a little dense and a tiny bit dry on top. I would probably stop here again. If I had a very slow morning, I would not stop here if I was in a hurry for a full breakfast.

I like to come here to study or work on my laptop ✨ it's not a spacious coffee shop but pretty clean and bright. I usually take the window seats👍🏼 Have been here several times, and the below was what I tried before: The portion of quiche was generous and it tasted really creamy I like it 🥺 Banana bread and chocolate tea bread were not too sweet 💓 (this is a big praise of mine for desserts hahah) Coffee or other tea beverages are all enjoyable!

This place used to be my go to for the sweet tooth fix. My favorite item is the almond chocolate croissant. I was coming regularly (probably weekly at minimum) for this item until I had a burnt, way overcooked one. It's been a few months and I tried it again. Just as bad. A croissant shouldn't crunch all of the way through and not be so baked that you don't taste the chocolate or almond. I won't be back. I hope they get better.

I stop at this location almost every morning for my Oat Draft Latte and dessert. The people are always polite and amazing. The atmosphere makes you feel important and the baked goods are always delicious. I love that they change up in the season time for certain pastries

Great bakery, wish I went there sooner. The inside is nicely decorated, and the outside patio is very nice. Pastries are delicious... tried the croissant, a couple cookies, and a cinnamon bun. Will need to go back to try some of the other treats on the menu. Prices are decent considering the quality, and staff is friendly.

Ice Cream Jubilee is a DC-based ice cream shop that specializes in unique flavors and seasonal offerings. The shop stocks flavors in local grocery stores and online, as well as special flavors for local occasions like the Presidential Inauguration. Ice Cream Jubilee is a favorite place for sweet indulgence for all ages.
The staff was super friendly and greeted me when I walked in the door! They allowed me to test some of the ice cream before making a purchase, And I have to recommend the banana pudding one if you’re a fan of bananas. Perfect ice cream shop in Georgetown and a great way to beat the heat!

Immediately upon walking in, we were excitedly greeted by the most amazing person!!! She happily answered every question, offered samples, and even correctly guessed which flavors we would land on. She made the experience! We chose cookies and cookie dough, coffee toffee, mint brownie, and even tried the donuts made by their friends. Every bite was delicious!! And truly, our experience was made spectacular by the employee!!! We will return again in the future.

This is a cute and quaint little ice cream shop , conveniently located on M street in Georgetown. When we went, they moved the line efficiently and fast. There’s outdoor seating, which is perfect for a nice day. We had the pistachio and the peanut butter cookie flavors - both were ok. Next time I’m there, I will try the donuts and the chocolate chocolate ice cream. The team member working was super nice and working fast to get everyone through the line efficiently.

The ice cream was delicious, but unfortunately the customer service was disappointing. The staff member working at the time was rude and not friendly at all. I really hope they consider improving the service or replacing the person working there, as it took away from the overall experience.

We happened to be walking around Georgetown and stumbled upon the cutest doughnut and ice cream shop—Jubilee! What an experience! 🎉 Jhamell was so friendly and helpful, and the doughnuts? Absolutely delicious! 😋 The perfect mix of soft, fresh, and flavorful. Thank you for such a fun and memorable morning. We definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area—you won’t be disappointed!

The banana pudding and salted caramel flavors are so good 🤤 I also like that they have the option to order 5 flavors at once in little scoops. That’s a great way to try a lot of flavors at once if you're here for the first time like us
Anastasiia S — Google review
We visited on Saturday afternoon. I’ll start off with the positives: this place, reminds me of a mini Krispy Kreme, where you can watch fresh miniature donuts being made. They also sell ice cream, floats, and milkshakes with a variety of flavors. Donuts are sold in sets of 6 (1 flavor), 12 (2 flavors), and 24 (4 flavors). We ordered 12 donuts which were soft and decent. Here is where the experience went downhill for us. I asked Jay, the employee helping us, if I can get 8 donuts with the hot cinnamon flavor and 4 donuts with sprinkles. He replied, “Yes, only if we leave him a review,” with a straight face. His request came off more abrasive and demanding as opposed to friendly. When we looked confused, he repeated his request which made the interaction uncomfortable. We decided to get 6 of each flavor instead. To make it worse, he picked up 6 plain donuts then walked to the back area out of sight with the donuts, then came back to the area by the donut machine to add the cinnamon mixture. What Jay didn’t realize is that I enjoy leaving reviews when service enhances my experience, and I had every intention to leave a positive review of this experience had it been gone smoothly. My recommendation: please don’t fish for reviews, they will happen organically because your work speaks for itself. I’m willing to give this place a second try, but I’m unsure when I will be back…

Dauphine’s is a refined restaurant in downtown, managed by Long Shot Hospitality. It pays homage to New Orleans with classic dishes like duck jambalaya and roast beef po' boy. The covered courtyard offers a blend of New Orleans and Chesapeake flavors, featuring buttery and bearnaise-laden dishes. The bar serves inventive drinks like the frozen Grasshopper and Tequila Roffignac.
I made a reservation at Dauphine’s to enjoy both happy hour and Restaurant Week. While waiting, I grabbed a seat at the outdoor bar—and ended up staying there for the entire evening. The atmosphere was vibrant, the weather perfect, and the real highlight was Jeffrey, our bartender. The food exceeded expectations, with generous portions—especially for a Restaurant Week menu. But what stood out most was the service. Jeffrey was not only attentive but genuinely seemed to enjoy what he does, creating a welcoming experience that felt far beyond a one-off event.

One of the best places I’ve been so far. The atmosphere and attention to detail were immaculate. You can see that every detail in this place has been thought of and represents the best of NOLA. I spent three years living in NOLA and this place just transported me back there. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautiful. The same could be said for the live music and overall feel and service. Can’t wait to be back.
Nikolay M — Google review
Went there around 4pm on a weekday, we came early for our reservation and they happily seated us. We tried the frog legs- felt like an exotic dish to me, though I know they may be quite common for others. The flavor and texture were unique and definitely an interesting experience—something different from what I usually eat. I really appreciated the service—when I asked for a little pick-me-up, the server gladly brought me a Latte. Oyster spaghetti- I really liked the taste but it had a generous amount of sauce—so much that it felt a bit overwhelming. A side of bread would have balanced it nicely and helped make the dish more enjoyable.
Mar A — Google review
We had a great time at Dauphine’s. Shared a few small plates and had cocktails. The service was very good, the vibes are jazzy, and the food is above average! My two favorite small plates we ordered were the fried artichokes and the bbq shrimp. Everything we had was cooked well and flavorful.
Meredith A — Google review
Overall, I was so excited about this placr after reading great reviews, but the experience was a bit disappointing. We went for a special occasion (made a reservation in advance), but our main dish came out nearly over 40 minutes after ordering, and there were several mix-ups with the orders. (Without any explanation, different servers kept coming to my table and bring and take foods...) Fortunately, our server (I believe his name was Sam) was excellent—kind, attentive, and professional. His whiskey cocktail recommendation was fantastic and made the wait much more enjoyable. Thanks to him, what could have been a frustrating night ended on a positive note.
Mika K — Google review
The bread board was meh, The artichokes were really good! I wouldn't normally get chicken, but the GF wanted it & it was delicious. The presentation of the chicken gave a weirdly produced look tho. The peach salad was a bit disappointing. The entree menu wasn't to exciting but the small plates were. I'd make sure if you're wanting an entree to see if they even offer something you'd like.
Stacy E — Google review
Dauphine’s exudes an incredible ambiance and atmosphere that transports you to New Orleans. The French and Spanish influences in its architecture are evident, and the artwork complements the ambiance perfectly. We visited during restaurant week and made an evening reservation. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly gentleman who informed us that our table was being cleaned. However, the restaurant was understaffed, and we ended up waiting for about 10 minutes to be seated. We started with two delicious cocktails: a French 75 and a tropical rum drink. For appetizers, we tried the oysters and spicy coppa, which were both excellent. However, the entrees were a letdown. I had the blackened catfish creole dish with grits, which lacked flavor and had an unappealing presentation. My partner’s pork steak Milanese looked like a heap of Jinga blocks submerged in a yellow pond. Both dishes failed to impress. On the bright side, the dessert was good. We had the Neapolitan layered cake and chocolate peanut butter tart, which were both delicious. If you’re looking for a good dessert, I highly recommend both. Overall, Dauphine’s stunning decor and ambiance overshadow its food offerings. It’s a tempting spot for a date, but be prepared for a disappointing dining experience. Rating: 3.6/5

Nestled within the vibrant La Cosecha in the Union Market District, Taqueria Las Gemelas is a trendy eatery that beautifully marries an industrial aesthetic with elevated Mexican cuisine. The culinary magic here is crafted by master tortillera Yesenia Neri Diaz and butcher Rogelio Garcia, who create mouthwatering tacos using housemade tortillas from Oaxacan blue corn. This dynamic duo ensures each bite bursts with flavor, thanks to their meticulous preparation methods.
First things first. The horchata is really good. The tacos are fancy not really classic but they are pretty good. I love that inside it's a cool venue especially the garage door. That will be so nice in the warmer months. I got takeout and the staff was phenomenal. I'd recommend this place if you're in the area.

Within a Latin American food hall is this new taco shop beautifully designed and ready to welcome in-person diners post-pandemic. The menu is large with tacos, other entrees, dessert and drinks. We ordered for safe pickup and the order was ready to go right on time. I found the food good. The tacos comes on corn tortillas and each one was tasty especially the el pastor and carnitas tacos. My marg was just okay and the arroz dessert tasty. If you like authentic tacos full of flavor, give this place a shot.
Austin G — Google review
We tried several tacos and my favorite was the al pastor. Sweet pineapple, pork and onion. Lengua y cachetes was a combination of beef tongue and cheek with salsa verde. Barbacoa was a smoked and braised lamb taco with charred tomatillo. A bit gamey for my husband. Pollo was an adobo chicken with mole rojo and radish. Taco de hongos was a mushroom and kale taco. The lightest of the bunch. We also had the chorizo y papas quesadillas. It had green chorizo and crispy potato. A bit greasy but tasty. They were short handed and we had some service and ordering issues, but as they hire more people, hopefully things will improve.

Las Gemelas is a Mexican restaurant serving up tacos, quesadillas and chili rellenos inside La Cosecha food hall in the Union Market District. Our group shared the guacamole with salted blue corn chips. The tastes of the al pastor (pork and pineapple) and choripapa (chorizo and potato) tacos were well balanced, the breakfast taco less so. A bit pricy for takeaway tacos but worth the trip and beautiful interior.

Every now and again I'd be eating somewhere that had the Uncle Chips cake cookie, and I'd always get it. Shoot, sometimes I'll even stop through and grab one from their brick and mortar location. The other day I was walking past and popped in to grab that cookie but this time I decided to order a sandwich. I ended up getting the Embassy of Turkey and chips, plus two cake cookies (one for now and one for later). Now I've been known to disparage ciabatta bread but this sandwich changed my mind. The ingredients were fresh and it is a lot of sandwich. The bread wasn't as tough as other ciabatta's I've had. The sandwich was delicious and the price is right. I can't emphasize this enough. It can be hard to find a well priced meal in this city but Uncle Chips fits the bill. I'm looking forward to trying a different sandwich on my next visit. You should check them out.

Was looking for a spot to grab a quick breakfast, and ran across this spot! While I wasn't expecting them to have many breakfast options, they surprised me! This review is about a year late, but I cannot recommend Uncle Chip's enough. They were essential for me and my family to survive having a baby in the NICU at Children's National down the road. While it sucked majorly to have a baby in the NICU, Uncle Chips was one of the redeeming and daily joys I was able to experience. They also delivered to the ER room at Children's so we didn't even have to leave the hospital to get our food. The food, staff, and overall experience with Uncle Chip's still brings tears to my eyes over how great they are. The NICU nurses recommended this place and I'm so glad they did.

As a boutique business owner and event producer myself, my goal is to support other locally owners, small businesses as well. I’m so glad we found Uncle Chip’s Cookies! I can’t say enough about how amazing Shannon and her team were. I was panicked and they helped pull together a huge order for a client within a week. The cake cookies were absolutely delicious. I didn’t know what to expect and trusted that Uncle Chip’s knew what they were doing. We crushed a lot of cake cookies in a week. I would definitely recommend this bakery and order that yummy cake cookie! Thanks Uncle Chip’s for making this happen!
Mollie C — Google review
I am very disappointed with my experience at Chip’s, unfortunately. I ordered Polenta; I was informed it was equivalent to grits. It sounded good; on the menu, it was 6 dollars. The cash register rung me up at 7 dollars. I inquired and pointed to the menu, but the clerk insisted that’s what the computer system had. The food was no where worth the cost. When I saw her make it, I was instantly overcome by skepticism. It looks like these are basically instant grits with a microwaved egg and cheese on top. The egg was rubbery and when I got to the bottom of the bowl, the grits weren’t cooked all the way. Not salted enough. I really wanted to try out this place because it’s a local business; I am doubtful I’ll be returning again. There’s nothing like getting ripped off to ruin a good Sunday mornin’...

Wings & More Wings is a beloved spot that has been delighting patrons for years, especially in Northeast. Known for their consistently crispy and fresh wings, the restaurant also offers a unique mambo sauce that strikes a perfect balance of sweet, sour, and slightly spicy flavors. Diners rave about the delicious fried rice packed with vegetables and other menu highlights like smoked salmon and chicken tenders. The atmosphere is casual; many enjoy sitting at the front window bar while sipping on cold drinks.
First time ordering wings with mumbo sauce (momber sauce on their menu). Wings were crispy and fresh. Sauce was warm, sweet, sour, and slightly spicy. Fries were crispy. Good value for the price. I sat at the little window front bar to eat my wings and enjoyed a cold Rock Creek, too.

Souk is a charming bakery and market located in Capitol Hill, offering a delightful array of globally inspired sweet and savory treats. Partnered with local roasters, Vigilante Coffee Company, it serves an excellent selection of coffee drinks to accompany your pastries. Additionally, the marketplace features exotic spices and oils for purchase, allowing visitors to bring home a taste of international flavors. Created by Dr.
Souk was such a delight! The pastries and coffee were wonderful! There are only a few barstools for dine-in, so it’s easiest to order to go.

Not the best croissants I've tried, but not the worst either. Rather mediocre. If you live next door it's worth a walk, but it's not worth a trip. My biggest surprise/disappointment was the fact that prices are not posted. Why not to let people estimate how much they going to spend? Unclear what is the reason for that. Is it even legal?

We picked up a dozen birthday cupcakes, and also got a few treats from the case. The chocolate chip cookie was soft and had a great balance of flavors. The service was out of this world. The person who compiled our order was kind enough to wrap it so that it wouldn’t get wet as it was raining and we had quite an outdoor trek to get home. Looking forward to trying the cupcakes tonight!

I was intrigued by the name, so I Stopped by and picked up some pastries. They left something to be desired, and the price was high. I know that’s common for the city, but at least sometimes, the quality makes up for the price. I was impressed by the fact that they make everything in house. I would give them one more try.

Unfortunately, really disappointed with this almond croissant. It was extremely hard and dense with the only flavor being from the paste inside. The powder sugar was over powering and it reminded me more of a almond shortbread cookie. It was also extremely overpriced at $5. For grocery store quality, prices should match. Thought I would check this out before work, but not a hit. Still on the look out for a good almond croissant in DC.

If I could give this place -5 stars, I would. The girl working at the counter had zero functioning brain cells and gave me and charged me for the wrong item. After I corrected her multiple times on what I wanted. She charged me for a more expensive beverage than what I ordered. My friend then proceeded to order her iced coffee & the girl proceeded to say "so an iced latte?" which, mind you, is $4 more. And my friend only got her iced COFFEE not latte after correcting her twice. Also, the coffee is disgusting. Quite literally ruined my morning.

My girlfriend just picked a sorted box of goodies from Souk and we are in heaven. They are practicing social distance, and their baked goods quality remains high (more like amazing). *edited review - take out If you are looking for an amazing bakery in DC, look no further. From the flaky layers of a well made croissant, to the deep and foamy taste of a perfectly made americano - this place has it all. It really is an experience worthwhile.

I ordered two of Souk's pastry boxes and they were truly spectacular. I felt like I was getting what people eat at Michelin Star restaurants for a more affordable price... Creative pieces baked with careful thoughtfulness and high quality ingredients. I have since recommended these boxes over all of the others I have tried during quarantine! Bonus bc they brought me to the Capitol Hill area when I hadn't been in what felt like a year.

Bakery
"My Cake Theory" is a boutique bakery in DC that has been creating custom confectionary creations since 2008. With over 12 years of professional experience, they specialize in crafting unique and delicious cakes for special celebrations. Customers have raved about their cupcakes, praising the flavors and presentation. The bakery is known for its accommodating service, making last-minute orders and providing beautiful and tasty treats for events like baby showers or office celebrations.
I visited this cute but quaint establishment and purchased 2 cupcakes. One strawberry and the other banana pudding. The favorite was the strawberry. The flavors were on point and loved how they used the cookie & dried strawberry to garnish. The banana pudding cupcake was yummy however, it may have been more flavorful with a cream cheese like icing. The presentation was pretty. The ladies at the counter and register were so adorable and greeted us with a smile. I will visit again when I am back in D.C.

I've had cupcakes from this bakery and loved them. The idea that I can construct my own cupcake and insert filling and pick my own toppings is genius and delicious! I called and put in an order for my husbands 40th birthday party. I gave her free reign to make the cake in any way she wanted as long as it was gold themed. She hit it out of the park! She made the cake itself the gold ball and it was beautiful! I can't thank her enough for how beautiful and tasty the cake was and would recommend everyone to order their cakes and cupcakes from here.

I called last minute (4pm) to have cupcakes delivered to my son who lives in DC for his birthday today. The staff was so helpful and accommodating! They even put a personalized Happy Birthday note in the package for me. He sent me a pic and they look amazing! I cant wait to visit DC soon to not only see my son but to try your cupcakes myself. He and his friends now have something delicious and amazingly decorated to make his day extra special! Can’t thank you enough for your hospitality and service!

Opened during the pandemic, My Cake Theory is a Black woman-owned bakery in Eastern Market with lots of style and flavor. When you walk in, the friendly staff walk you through the menu. You can buy one of their seasonal cupcakes or create your own. I opted for creating my own. Here's how it works: 1) Pick your base. I went with their rich vanilla cupcake. 2) Choose a filling. I opted for cream cheese. 3) Pick the frosting. Chocolate was where I landed. 4) Add toppings. Sprinkles and a little more chocolate syrup for me. The cupcake itself was well baked and so good!

Best cupcakes ever! My daughter passed away at the age of 7. Every year I buy cupcakes to celebrate her birthday. This year she would have been 14 so I decided she might have like fun unique cupcakes. This place was very accommodating. I walked in last minute and they made me 20 cupcakes. It was a huge it at the office! Everyone loved them and we will definitely be ordering from here from now on for company events. Thank you so much for making a sad day a little happier.

We ordered several dozen cupcakes from here for our daughters 5 year old birthday and we’re so happy with them. They made them all custom ordered and had such a diversity of flavors. The kids were over the moon. The cupcakes were light and fluffy and the frosting was sweet but not overly so. Would highly recommend!

They have many kinds of cupcakes, so we had a hard time choosing. We especially love their banana pudding and the chocolate peanut butter one which the male clerk recommended us (sorry we forgot the cupcake name). If we go around Eastern Market, we will drop there for those cupcakes. And also they decorate really nicely inside.

First timer, was pleasantly surprised by my cupcakes. Service was great, the flavors were explained in detail. I selected a lemon crumb, chocolate galore, coconut cake & turtle flavored. Sorry, I devoured the coconut one. It's flavor was outstanding. Supporting a women, black owned business is literally icing on the cake, lol. Please stop in you won't be disappointed. It's definitely not my last trip.
