Bakery
Heidelberg Pastry Shoppe is a warm and inviting German bakery and cafe that has been serving up delicious cookies, cakes, pastries, and sandwiches since 1975. Founded by Wolfgang Buchler, who hails from the German city of Heidelberg, this beloved bakery offers a wide range of year-round favorites such as apple, banana cream, blueberry, Boston cream pies and more. In addition to their regular offerings, they also have seasonal flavors like Dutch apple and pecan pies.
Update 26 January 2025: still an amazing bakery. Great options for Valentine's treats as well. Be aware they are super busy on Sunday mornings because they close earlier that day...1pm. Thanks for the tasty pastries! The Heidelberg bakery is everything you could want for German themed desserts and pantry items. This place gets really busy, so be prepared to walk in, grab a ticket, and enjoy looking around or finalizing your shopping list while you wait for your number to be called. Be ready to go when you number is called though because the team at Heidelberg is very efficient, while also being friendly; so do your part by being ready to state the items desired for your order. The desserts I tried were all good. I think my favorite was their éclair, but their cakes with fruit are delicious too. Limited parking is available at the lot in front of the shop and additional parking is available in a lot walking distance down the street. I would definitely come back. Thanks!

Everything here is delicious! We frequent Heidelberg for weekend treats so it was no question this is where we’d order our wedding cake. They set up a formal tasting that exceeded my expectations. We went in thinking we’d just have a 1-tiered small cake for the purposes of photos, but were convinced to get a full 3-tiered wedding cake and we do not regret it! The cake was delivered on time and safely and it looked absolutely gorgeous. Even better in person.

Easy to located. Minimal parking. Greatest section of pastries and sausages around. Fresh sandwiches are delicious. Marzipan treats are tasty. Good hot coffee too. Attentive, professional, friendly and plentiful employees eagerly wait to serve. I'm 45 minutes away so I dont get here often, but when I do, it's always a treat for the whole family!

Variety of choices for cookies and pastries. They taste great so far. Customer service is so fae good
Angelita — Google review
Have been a fairly regular customer over last 10 years. Pastries, cakes, breads and nice variety of deli items tasty. Prices have gone up as mish as 20% on some items over the last few years. Customer service in bakery very good most days, even on busy weekends however for a recent large catering order, items (trays of soft pretzels and dozens of dinner rolls) brought out to car without and plastic covering! Had to request these bakery items be covered....not very sanitary to say the least

I can't say enough about how good this place is! Excellent pastries, cakes, bread, cookies... the list could go on forever( P.S. the cheese sticks are the best!!). Staff is super friendly and always wanting to help can you find exactly what you're looking for. I've been coming here for at least 20 years and now my kids come here. Just awesome.

My husband and I have loved Heidelberg for years, it’s our go-to spot. So we immediately knew we wanted Heidelberg to make our wedding cake when we got engaged! Cake tasting was so fun — the wedding cake coordinator recommended some traditional ones and a unique one. I gave her an inspo photo, and next thing I know, that exact cake was at our reception. It was absolutely beautiful and so tasty. We plan to order a mini version each year for our anniversary.
Alexandra B — Google review
LOVE this German bakery. I gladly drive over 30 minutes to visit here a few times a gear. You HAVE to try the beer cheese dip and fresh pretzels. Their sandwiches are also great. My only suggestion is that they update their decor. It's very 1990s and could use some major updates.

Bakeshop is a cozy bakery with locations in Arlington, Falls Church, and Georgetown. They offer a wide variety of sweet treats including classic pies like pecan and pumpkin, as well as specialty flavors such as apple streusel and bourbon chocolate. In addition to pies, they also have icebox versions available in flavors like frozen hot chocolate and peanut butter Nutella. The bakery also offers bread loaves in various flavors such as pumpkin chocolate chunk and banana pecan.
Absolutely delicious bakery with indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend the oaty chocolate chipwich. If you’re in the mood for a sweet treat, stop here.

Delightful little bakery with cute vibes and a phenomenal selection of treats. I first fell in love with the Georgetown location of Bakeshop for its variety of vegan and gluten-free items, and the Clarendon spot is no different. They offer a ton of standard, vegan, or gluten-free cookies, cupcakes, and cakes; each one is as delicious as the next. However, if you're in the mood for something savory (and distinctly non-vegan), their breakfast sandwiches are also delightful. I passed the Clarendon Bakeshop location on my way to the metro station on a Friday morning and decided to stop to treat myself to a nice, warm breakfast. I got their everything croissant -- which is perfectly flaky and comes studded with plenty of everything bagel seasoning -- and added a scrambled egg and slice of cheese. The egg was perfectly soft and fluffy, and the melted cheese helped to bind the whole thing together. You usually have to wait for a few minutes for the breakfast sandwiches, but the space is nice and cozy, and it's a good opportunity to peruse their pastry selections.
Sonya H — Google review
Bakeshop is such a fun and cozy spot! The desserts are always fresh, creative, and absolutely delicious — you can taste the quality in every bite. The cookies and cupcakes are especially amazing! The coffee pairs perfectly, and the staff are super friendly and laid-back. It’s the perfect place to grab a treat, chill with friends, or just make your day a little sweeter.
Queen B — Google review
The atmosphere and service were great! Also nestled in a cute part of town. I think I would have loved if this place had a bathroom. There are so many drink options and you have the ability to sit-in and enjoy your treats/ drink, but without a bathroom, it’s difficult to give this place a 5 star review. I also wish the gf items would have been clearly separated like the vegan ones were. I felt like I had to struggle to find the items they had since it didn’t match the menu online. But super grateful they had something gf to offer. I’d love a gf biscuit/ scone to add to what you already offer + more macron flavors.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️The sign says "Bakes," but I say "Bliss," A gingerbread witch blew me a kiss! The cupcakes are spooks, the muffins are mummies, With icing-spun webs and sweet, sticky tummies. A pumpkin-spice ghost, a cinnamon fright, They bake all the magic, both day and through night. So five stars I give, with a cackle and cheer, Best Halloween treats of the whole wicked year!
Jordan H — Google review
I’ve been a loyal Bakeshop customer for years as I love their banana pudding and breakfast sandwiches. When it was time to choose a cake for our wedding, I looked into the fancy wedding cake bakeries and the economical grocery store sheet cake options. But in my heart, I knew I wanted a Bakeshop cake. The 8 in 3 layer Neapolitan cake was so delicious and picturesque as our cutting cake. Our guests also enjoyed the chocolate cake and carrot cake. We got so many compliments on how amazing our cakes were all night. We love you, Bakeshop!
Tess M — Google review
Ordered delivery for a co workers birthday. They delivered perfectly to downtown D.C. and everyone raved about the taste and presentation of the cake! Excellent experience 👏
T P — Google review
The place was neat and looks cozy. They have only indoor sittings and mostly people stop-by for takeout than dining in. Staff were eager to help and really help to provide recommendations for your likings. We had their ice cream which is the cookie vanilla sandwich and the Macaron Red Velvet ice cream. For sweet tooth go for the cookies for the mid sweet, go for the macaron. The combination was so good! We will surely go back to this place!

The name “Watergate Cake” is believed to named after the Watergate scandal involving President Nixon in 1972, which was unfolding at the time the cake was popular, I am getting custom cakes for special schedule and never disappointed and always enjoyed every bit of my cake

Great experience! Easy to communicate with and Fantastic Cake! Ordered an 8” x 8” rum cake for my husband’s birthday. Watergate pastry was super easy to communicate with, their pricing was fair ($50). On pick up day everything was easy, and the employee at the shop was so kind. I’m personally not even a fan of rum cake (it’s his favorite) but we both ended up loving the cake!!! It was creamy, flavorful, flaky, and the perfect amount of sweet! 10/10 recommend watergate pastry! And it’s fun to walk around the old historic building while you’re in the area :)

Spectacular dark chocolate mousse. Probably the best that I have ever had. It was moist, decadent, rich, anything that you want in a chocolate mousse. And the decorations were so professional and sharp, it was a shame to ruin them to eat the cake itself! Definitely would recommend that you try any of their delicious pastries here.
Robert F — Google review
My experience was absolutely perfect! The ordering and pick up process couldn't have been easier. The cake was just what my husband wanted for his 40th birthday. (He couldn't wait to have more for breakfast!) It was delicate and delicious. I can't wait to have an excuse to order again!
Marcela M — Google review
Ordered some custom cookies, adding our company logo to shortbread-type cookies, and they turned out great (and were tasty too!). While picking them up we decided to try their chocolate cake, and it was amazing. Wow. So thanks again to Watergate Pastry, they did a great job for me yet again!!

I ordered a pineapple upside down cake with balloons and paid to have it delivered to a hotel on Capitol Hill. I was told the cake tasted good but the rest of the experience was negative. The balloons were blown up by mouth...no helium and not floating. The icing writing on the cake was lacking. The receipt was ON TOP of the box!! For $65, I expected more, a lot more.

The CakeRoom is a quaint bake shop located in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington D.C. The bakery uses high quality products and prepares everything from scratch, making it a great choice for upscale weddings.
Was looking for something sweet near my Airbnb and found this jewel on a Google search. An incredible selection of baked goods, e.g., cake, brownies, pie and cupcakes. Bought two pieces of cake - Chocolate and Red Velvet - and they were both delicious. Pleasant customer service to go with a cool backstory of its founding. Good pricing and highly recommend.
Yazeed M — Google review
I ordered their dozen cupcakes for my sisters birthday because she loves cupcakes..... There was supposed to be one of each of their cupcakes and we were really excited to do a whole tasting thing in celebration with our kids. My sister loves chocolate and red velvet so I ordered an extra one of each chocolate cupcake. At the last minute they cancelled all of the chocolate extra cupcake orders and sent us a dozen of what must have been what they had left over for the day. They sent (vanilla/vanilla, salted caramel, coconut & another random vanilla looking cupcake. I understand if they got busy and couldn't fulfill the order. However, They never contacted me to inform me that they didn't have the order.... I would have cancelled immediately.... So now I will have to spend more money to buy a cake and the kids are super disappointed 0 out of 0 stars and $50 down the drain.
Thandeka M — Google review
I ordered a custom birthday cake here and unfortunately the entire experience was disappointing. From the start, the ordering process felt dismissive and rushed. I asked for a blueberry lemon cake — a classic and popular pairing — but the staff member insisted it couldn’t be done and that the flavors wouldn’t go well together. Instead, I was steered into choosing a lemon lavender cake, which ended up tasting unbalanced: the lavender was overpowering, and there was no lemon flavor at all. For the price of a custom cake, I expected a thoughtful consultation, where the design could be discussed in detail and the baker could explain clearly what was or wasn’t possible. Instead, with only one employee handling both customers and orders, I felt rushed and not given the time needed to plan properly. The final product itself was no better. The heart-shaped cake came out lopsided. I had provided a reference photo with the popular vintage piping style, but that was dismissed. What I received was messy, poorly executed frosting that did not resemble what I asked for. On top of the design issues, the cake itself was dry and the frosting overly sweet, making it unenjoyable to eat. Overall, the lack of care in both service and execution left me feeling like this was a waste of money. When you pay for a custom cake, you expect quality, communication, and attention to detail none of which were delivered here.
Alaina F — Google review
I went to pick up my cupcakes on Saturday and parked near a fire hydrant, thinking I’d run in and grab them real quick—only to realize I had placed the order for the wrong pickup date! Luckily, they happened to have the lemon lavender cupcakes my client wanted. Mikaela was so kind and had them boxed up and ready for me in under 10 minutes. Her customer service was a 10/10, and the cupcakes were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!

Ordered with them on Too good to Go. After this experience, I will definitely be back. The person behind the counter was friendly. The atmosphere was super cute and the cake was amazing!! Definitely worth coming from VA for a sweet treat

Cupcakes didn’t have much flavor, my strawberry ones wasn’t as fresh they were stale, red velvet and carrot ones idk my daughter ate the rest. Will give them a try again one day.

i’m pleased with the employees attitudes and all but i just got a cake for my dads birthday & my biggest fear was paying $100 for a cake that consist of frosting and writing that i could of gotten from a grocery story . and to my surprise , it was exactly that. i was expecting alittle more for that price especially because it’s my dads birthday . this cake looks very basic . not worth it …and i’m irritated

We had a dinner reservation nearby so we popped in right before closing. The bakery case we well stocked with huge, beautiful cakes! The jars were full of cookies and everything looked beautiful. We got two cookies and two slices of cake to-go. Service was absolutely wonderful. (Aug 18, 2024)

Alexandria Pastry Shop is a bustling mainstay in Alexandria, Virginia, known for its special-occasion cakes, from-scratch pastries, and deli sandwiches. Established in 1988, this patisserie prides itself on using only the finest and freshest ingredients available to create their delicious confections.
We decided to stop here because of the long line at Starbucks. I'm honestly so happy we did. Everyone was super nice and helpful. The prices were pretty decent. The choices were plentiful and everything looked amazing. I got the hot pastrami sandwich and really enjoyed it. My partner got the Italian and liked it but did say the bread seemed a little dry. Update: we made this a weekly stop in our routine. ProTip: always start with dessert

[GREEN MOLD ON CAKE] Updated Review: I purchased the cake on 10/7 around 6 PM, close to the store’s closing time. I placed it in the refrigerator and ate a slice around 8:30 PM, where I discovered green mold on middle of the cake (see time and date of pictures taken-along with cake transaction). The next morning (10/8), after experiencing food poisoning. I immediately called the store to request that the rest of the cakes from that batch be removed from the counter, but I was told no manager was available the entire day. Even if the store doesn’t want to take accountability for the mold, it clearly shows a lack of proper food storage or handling, since mold does not develop within just two hours of purchasing a cake. (Original review): I was really disappointed with my order — I found green mold on my slice of cake, and unfortunately, I ended up getting food poisoning after eating it. This was very concerning and made me question the food safety and storage practices. I hope the business takes this seriously and ensures better quality control so no one else has to go through the same experience.

If you're looking for a wedding cake that is both beautiful and delicious, I highly recommend Alexandria Pastry Shop!!! Also the best stop for pastry. The moment I step in, I'm greeted by the delightful aroma of fresh pastries that are simply irresistible. Their selection is impressive! Each bite is a little piece of heaven, and I appreciate the quality and care that goes into every treat. The cozy atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a sweet indulgence after a lovely service. If you haven't visited yet, you're truly missing out on the best pastries around! Highly recommend! Mihaela thank you for your service!!!!

First of all, the young man behind the counter was so friendly and helpful the moment we walked in. His cheerful personality made our entire visit so wonderful! Second, the selection of gorgeous pastries was amazing. We had a hard time choosing! Ended up with a chocolate mousse cake and a raspberry bar and a bunch of macarons to take home. Finally, the decor is so elegant and chic. Such a beautiful spot. We will return very soon!

Ordered a custom birthday cake (sugar free/diabetic) in advance. Joseline responded in email that it would be ready for the event. I followed up twice in email to confirm and they confirmed it would be ready. Day of the event, they didn’t have the cake and staff spent some time on the phone trying to figure out what happened, and I was further late for my event. I emailed saying my cake order was forgotten by the bakery, no response. Emailed again, they said I can come in for a free pastry instead of a free cake, after I communicated before that I can’t have sugar which I reminded again. I’m so glad I didn’t order a bigger event’s custom cake from this bakery, like a wedding cake. Definitely would not risk ordering a wedding cake from here. Disappointed how disorganized this process and outcome was, and how there was no understanding that a promise was broken and that they should make up for it without me asking for them to.
Farina Z — Google review
The place itself is cute but it does have a weird smell and the bathroom was kind of dirty. Worst of all though was tts vanilla vanilla cupcake I ordered. Nearly $6 for one. It tasted days old The frosting was supposed to be butter cream but tasted like refrigerated crisco:( the cake itself was dry and stale tasting. Ugh!

Pastries By Randolph is a charming bakery in Arlington that offers an array of European-style pastries and elaborate cakes for special occasions like weddings and birthdays. The shop also features a delightful selection of holiday treats, including Hanukkah and Christmas goodies such as butter cookies, gingerbread houses, yule logs, reindeer cakes, and ginger snaps. Additionally, they offer themed cookies, petit fours, chocolate-dipped strawberries, cupcakes, and heart-shaped cakes for Mother's Day.
Great choices and reasonable prices. Was our first time there. I loved what I chose, which is salted caramel cupcake.
Rahma H — Google review
The pastries and desserts are really good, though pricey. Love that they use custard in eclairs. We bought several cakes and they’re ok’ish, but we weren’t fans of the excessive amounts of cream & frosting used with minimal amounts of actual cake. Def try their desserts and even the bread too. Lots of parking at the back of the building.
BeyondTabu — Google review
Pastries By Randolph is an absolute classic! The desserts are gorgeous and taste even better than they look — fresh, buttery, and perfectly balanced. From croissants to cakes, everything here is top quality. The shop has a clean, elegant vibe, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. It’s the kind of bakery you can count on for any occasion or just to treat yourself. So, so good!

My favorite pastry shop in Arlington. They have awesome cakes as well as many different pastries and yummy cookies. Definitely worth checking out.

This bakery is amazing! The pastries are fresh and delicious and the service is prompt and pleasant. They cater for events (my best friend hired them to cater his wedding), and there is a small area outside to eat of the weather permits. If you're looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth, or just looking for something to accompany your Starbucks coffee, Pastries by Randolph will never disappoint.

My wife wanted a dessert so we tried here. It was great to have plenty of parking in back. Once we went in, we were greeted by friendly staff and they took our orders. While there’s no place to eat inside (bakery), there are three tables outside and the weather was gorgeous. I had the lemon meringue which very good and creamy. My wife enjoyed her creme brûlée. We still have to try the Oreo cheesecake and carrot cake.
Scott W — Google review
Haven’t tried much but my first experience, I ordered the ham and cheese croissants and an eclair. While the croissant was nice and flaky, it had maybe a 1/2 slice of ham on it. I may as well have gotten a plain one. The Eclair was the best I have ever had. Filling in every bite and the chocolate icing was perfectly balanced.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful spot that caters to diverse tastes, look no further than Sweetbites Cafe and Bakery. Founded by Sandra Panetta in 2010, this charming establishment began as a mobile cake truck before blossoming into a beloved storefront in McLean by 2014. Whether you crave scones, smoothies, or savory sandwiches like roasted veggie or ham and cheese, Sweetbites has something for everyone.
I had such a wonderful first visit to this bakery! As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by Erica, who was incredibly helpful in offering suggestions. I decided to try two cinnamon buns—one with pecans and one without—and I’m so glad I did. They were freshly made, still steaming, and absolutely divine! The texture was perfectly soft, with just the right amount of sweetness. If you’re looking for a bakery that serves top-tier pastries with great customer service, this is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back!

First of all I want to mention that the service is always excellent 👌 but the food was not so good as looking. Had coffee there a couple of times- so/so, would not come specially. My Obgyn is in the same building, this is the reason I am stopping by sometimes. Yesterday I tried their breakfast, but would not going to take it again- overpriced for this kind of sandwich.

Please check your food carefully before eating. I bit into an unknown object and also found other foreign items in my burrito. When I brought it to the manager’s attention, she simply shrugged it off.

Everyone is so friendly. I'm vegan and was happy to find delicious vegan soup options and vegan baguettes. However, the pastries are not vegan. But, they are all homemade and look heavenly. They offer gluten-free as well.

This is my go-to spot for whenever I need cupcakes for an event! Sweetbites have made me cupcakes for numerous occasions (birthdays, baby/bridal showers & work gatherings) and they’ve always been a hit! It made my decision so easy to have them make my wedding cupcakes! We did 2 flavors, a “his and hers” - almond funfetti and chocolate salted caramel. People still ask me where they were from! Lastly - whenever I go to the cafe, I always get a latte and a chocolate scone. They are to die for!

This place has it all! Breakfast, Lunch Sweets and ice cream, all specialty made! Everything here is homemade and you can definitely tell a difference. Everything is so good!! It’s a great vibe and I love the outdoor seating.

What an adorable little nook in McLean! Beautiful and clean Cafe. Very welcoming employees. They had the best quiche I have ever had. Everything is made in house. You should definitely stop by for a visit

I love this sweet cafe! Their baked goods are stellar and made on site. They also have delicious sandwiches, quiche and a full espresso bar. Great for breakfast, lunch, or a snack break!

Bakery
Fluffy Thoughts Cake is a beloved neighborhood bakery known for its creative cakes, macarons, brownies, and other delectable desserts. Customers have raved about their exceptional attention to detail and personalized service when creating wedding cakes. The team's responsiveness, professionalism, and ability to bring personal visions to life have left couples thrilled with the seamless planning process and stunning results.
We did a take home tasting with them and ultimately decided on the pumpkin patch cake for our late October wedding. Everything we tried was delicious, but after voting on the 5+ flavors, the pumpkin patch cake was the clear winner. We ordered a pumpkin patch sheet cake to serve our guests, along with a simple, decorative two-tier cake for the cake cutting. We didn't want anything too over-the-top and kept a specific budget. Fluffy Thoughts delivered the cake for us, which was incredibly helpful and made the day even easier. Our guests LOVED the cake!

We used Fluffy Thoughts for my daughter’s wedding and they were absolutely amazing from start to finish! Their customer service is too notch, the cake tasting experience wonderful and fun (you bring home and do it- FUN!) and they were so responsive and helpful down to details up to the wedding. We had a small wedding and they made the small cake and mini cupcakes experience perfect!

We worked with the Fluffy Thoughts Cake team for our wedding this past weekend and had the cake of our dreams! We wanted something super simple and mainly for cutting / pictures since we had a separate dessert bar during our reception. The cake was absolutely fantastic all the way from the design to the flavor. We chose a funfetti flavor which is our favorite and it was super delicious. The team was so great to work with as well from day one. We tried out the take home cake tasting first before we committed to a flavor and it was such a fun date night / added wedding planning experience for us. I can confidently say that we will be using Fluffy Thoughts Cake for all of our events in the future and had the best experience for our big day! Thank you so much for everything and we look forward to working with you all in the future! Here's a picture for reference, we were able to drop off our figurine for our dog, Oakley, who was in our wedding as well!

We are so happy with our wedding cake from Fluffy Thoughts! We initially ordered a few samples to taste and the delivery process was seamless. Then, working with Emma, we were able to pick a design and size for our wedding of ~140 guests. We ended up ordering two flavors of cake, which all of our guests loved! The floral design, which was inspired by a photo on their social media, was also stunning in our venue. We would happily order another special occassion cake from ,Fluffy Thoughts in the future!
Missy R — Google review
Fluffy thoughts is great to deal with and definitely showed attention to detail and care that I rarely find today. The cake they made for my daughter's graduation was very special and made for a memorable day. You can't find a baker like this anymore. The buttercream, cream cheese filling and custom orange cake (Syracuse orange) was delicious! We also had more than enough to feed our party and have leftovers. Highly recommend.
Roseanne S — Google review
We ordered a cake from here for our celebration, and it was absolutely perfect! The whole process was so easy and stress-free - from ordering to pickup, everything went smoothly. The cake turned out beautifully and tasted even better than it looked. We chose the strawberry shortcake filling, and it was light, flavorful, and simply delicious. We truly appreciate Fluffy Thoughts for helping make our event extra special. The cake was such a lovely centerpiece for our celebration, and we’re so glad we chose them. Highly recommend!
D Z — Google review
Fluffy Thought Cakes recently provided an army retirement cake for us and it was stunning. Not only was the cake delicious (carrot cake bottom tier & yellow cake top tier), but it held up as a beautiful decor cake for the entire evening! Emma and Lara were so communicative, really helped bring my client's vision to life and it is clear that they love what they do and are incredibly good at it. Highly recommend!
Christina S — Google review
Fluffy Thoughts did our wedding cake back in May and it nice, the design and flavors were good. I had them do a birthday cake for me last week and while the design was nice, the cake was dry, stale, and no one wanted to eat it. I ended up throwing half of it away. After reading some of the reviews, the problem with Fluffy Thoughts seems to be consistency. It's either good or it's not. I won't take a chance again. Especially with other fantastic bakery options in the area.

At Livin' The Pie Life, a charming pie shop founded in 2011 by the dynamic duo of Heather Sheire and Wendy MacCallum, you can indulge in an array of mouthwatering pies crafted from locally sourced ingredients. This woman-owned establishment is known for its commitment to quality, with every crust and filling made from scratch. As Thanksgiving approaches, they are currently taking orders for pickup until November 17th, encouraging customers to freeze their purchases for later enjoyment.
I came here because I saw someone review the chocolate chip cookie. I can attest that it is indeed an amazing cookie. As you can see, I may have gone a little overboard on ordering. The banana cream pie and the banana pudding were both delicious. The rice Krispy treat was solid but the sambusa was the star of the show. I arrived a few minutes before they came out of the oven and it was fresh out of the oven when I ate it. I would 100% recommend. Perfect for someone who’s seeking something savory. Lastly, the staff were superb. Super friendly and extremely kind. They answer every question you may have, pay attention to detail, and are all genuinely happy to be there. Don’t let your bad day ruin theirs. Edit: now that I’ve tried the quiche, I would put that near the top of everything I bought, even if eaten a day or two later.
Tyler M — Google review
Great dessert spot serving numerous different sweet and savory options. I didn’t even know where to start when I arrived as there so many things to choose from. I ended up getting the rhubarb mini pie and a peanut butter cookie. I really liked the rhubarb pie. It had the perfect balance of tartness and a little bit of sweet. The crust was flakey and I could taste the butter in it. Staff was super friendly and helped me narrow down my options.
Lauren C — Google review
We were excited to try this Pie place because we saw the photos and reviews. We bought a “Turtle Pie” which we were looking forward to because it combines chocolate and Pecan. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. While the filling is very good, the pie itself is non-existent. For instance, you cannot cut a piece without everything crumbling and the bottom Pie crust is “stuck” to the bottom of the box (this somewhat appears in the photo). Moreover, whatever crust we are able to salvage (including the upper corners) was extremely dry and tasteless (tastes a bit stale and zero crunch). The three stars are for the filling and zero star for the Pie itself. If the actual pie crust were to be crunchy and flaky, this could have has the potential to be excellent. Edited after response: Appreciate the response but the Pie above was consumed straight from the store, it was not in the fridge. We had it about 25 minutes after we picked it up. I reached out by email.

Great local bakery serving up the best scones, fluffy on the inside but slightly crispy on the outside. We opted for the strawberry, raspberry, and lemon scone and my toddler cannot stop raving about it. Super friendly and welcoming staff.
Adri G — Google review
I visited this place for the first time last weekend, as long as I have been living in Virginia, why I didn’t know about this hidden gem. I went there for an Apple Pie, they informed that it’s not Apple season. I was surprised about their honesty and how they take pride on their ingredients they use. I was there for about 20 minutes, couldn’t decide after then, they were patient, told me to take my time, and it was a busy Saturday morning. I brought a Pecan Pie, slices of Key Lime and a Peace pie. Every one that had a slice was amazed on how good they were. I can’t wait to go back this weekend. Thanks for the best pies I have ever had and the such excellent customer service. The person who was slicing all that butter/not sure if she’s the owner. Her smile and her demeanor makes you want to come back.
Darla — Google review
I’ve been a fan of these pies since before the shop existed, back when it was just two incredibly talented women selling at local farmers markets. Now, nearly a decade into their charming storefront, the selection has only gotten better (and bigger). Their apple and peach pies are classic favorites, but the brown butter coconut is something special. It’s rich, perfectly balanced, and honestly, one of the best pies I’ve ever had. One of the most unexpected hits is the seasonal tomato pie. I’ve been giving it to my tomato-loving mom for years, and it never disappoints. It’s not only beautiful to look at… those layered tomato slices with herbs and cheese are a work of art but the flavor is next-level. Savory, fresh, and unforgettable. Whenever I’m hosting, I stop in for a quiche, they’re always packed with flavor and made with the same care as everything else here. Their crust is buttery, flaky, and absolutely perfect. You can tell just how much attention and love goes into every single item. This bakery is a true neighborhood gem. From the sweet to the savory, everything they make is done with heart - and it shows.
Ray M — Google review
On the plus side, they have the best chocolate pie, chocolate chip cookies, and brownies anywhere so they will make any chocoholic very happy. On negative side, parking is really bad as are the hours. They also ask you to tip which is really awkward. Their prices are high so tipping should not be necessary but also tipping is not customary for counter service. And they stand there and watch you while you select the tip amount which is super awkward. Another thing I don’t like is that they typically sell the Mile High Chocolate Pie as a mini-pie. I don’t like the mini-pies as the filling-to-crust ratio is too low. They sometimes sell that pie by the slice and it is great when they do that but I always skip it when they only offer the mini-pies. EDIT: Responding to the owners, I have tried asking for a slice but was told “no”, that they will not sell slices when they have mini-pies. Too bad because your desserts are incredibly good, no other shop is even close.
Sean S — Google review
As an Asian, I’ve never tried pie before, so one day when I was craving something sweet, I decided to give it a shot. After Googling for the best spot, I found a place with high ratings and thought, “Why not?” I ended up buying six different pies to sample. Let me tell you—they were all amazing, especially the pecan pie. The crust was super thin, crispy, and held together perfectly. Cookies is incredible too. But the worst one? The cranberry pear. Not my vibe at all. A few were a bit too sweet for my taste—like, the key lime was crazy sweet. But overall, the staff were super friendly, the vibe was chill, and everything was super fresh. Definitely worth it! This photo is from the second time I bought it, and this time, I went all out and got a big pecan pie to really indulge.

Milk Bar is a renowned bakery founded by pastry chef Christina Tosi, known for her inventive and playful approach to traditional desserts. The menu features a wide array of treats, including the iconic Cereal Milk soft serve, naked layer cakes that showcase all the moist layers, cake truffles, assorted cookies, and more. Special occasion cakes like the chocolate caramel pretzel cake and famous birthday cake are also available.
I can never seem to time my visits right with the super complicated pie that they make here, I'm not even sure if they're still making it. With that being said, all the pies, cake slices, and cookies I have bought from here have been really good. The compost cookie is definitely a must try but really there's no wrong choices here!

I was excited to try this place as for some reason was on a couple list for best desserts in DC area, but unfortunately this place left me extremely disappointed. I talked with staff for a bit and was convinced to try the “Crack Pie” and it was honestly ok a best, but very expensive especially for the portion size. Staff were friendly. Maybe we just tried the wrong things, but we were disappointed by everything. Overall I’d pass on giving it a chance
Coach T — Google review
It was my first time visiting Milk Bar. The atmosphere of the store great & the staff was really friendly and gave good recommendations. I got the cereal milk soft serve with cornflake crunch. It was good but a bit too sweet and overpriced for the size in my opinion.
Magali K — Google review
I was excited to finally try Milk Bar after hearing so much hype and seeing this on Chef'sTable, but honestly it was a big letdown. Every cookie variety I sampled (6 different cookies in total) tasted almost exactly the same—overloaded with sugar and that same artificial sweetness you’d find in any non-organic grocery store cookie. The ingredient lists read more like a commercial snack than a bakery treat, with nothing that feels fresh or thoughtfully sourced. For a brand with such a premium image (and premium prices), I expected unique flavors and quality ingredients. Even the famous ice cream with corn flakes was a disappointment — it was so sugary I couldn’t even finish it. Overall, everything felt mass-produced, overly sweet, and lacking the depth or originality that’s constantly advertised.

Ana has exceptional customer service. I came in for the first time to celebrate my best friend’s birthday and she took great care of us. These cookies are amazing. I also tried to seasonal apple cider truffles and had to spin the block once more for another 3 pack

Literally the stuff of dreams! I first learnt about milk bar and Christina Tosi after watching her episode on Chef's table years ago, and ever since I had vaguely thought to myself how cool it would be to go and experience her innovative flavours. Imagine my excitement when I bumped into one in DC! I couldn't have asked for a better experience: everything is *objectively* delicious (both the classics and the seasonal treats). Juan was exceptionally kind, warm and welcoming, and made sure I had the most fantastic experience. I left with in a daze, with a full belly and a big fat smile on my face. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)

Pretty bad. I wouldn’t expect a “fresh baked” cookie to be wrapped in a plastic packaging. You can get the same quality of cookies from like Subway….. or Jimmy John’s. Nothing remarkable. Overpriced. Tourist/social media trap.

Nestled in the heart of the Bradlee Shopping Center, BeeLiner Diner opened its doors on February 24, inviting locals and visitors alike to experience a delightful blend of dining concepts. With options like BunPapa, known for its mouthwatering burgers and fried chicken sandwiches, as well as BoomChicky and ALX Pizza, there's something for everyone. The diner embraces a charming bee theme that extends from decor to silverware, creating an inviting atmosphere that's both fun and unique.
What really stood out to me at the Beeliner Diner was the service. Our waiter didn’t just do his job — he seemed to genuinely enjoy it, which made the whole experience feel warm and effortless. The atmosphere was fun, lively, and nostalgic in the best way. We kept it simple with classic diner fare, and I ordered the BLT — but it tasted far from ordinary. The bacon was crisp, and the tomatoes were so fresh they could’ve come straight from a garden. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared and a notch above your typical diner expectations. We didn’t try the famous cake (it was $19 a slice!), but it looked like a work of art — towering and beautiful, the kind of slice you’d see at a wedding. Next time, I might go just for dessert. Overall, I left smiling — great service, fun energy, and food that feels made with care. I’ll definitely be back.

I am now a true 🐝eliever in the BeeLiner Diner. I was welcomed by their friendly staff upon entering the restaurant. I was quickly seated and given a menu. After some back and forth about my meal selection, I landed on the Big Papa Deluxe Burger with crispy French fries and a Diet Coke. Within minutes my food was on the table and I was chowing down. The fries were perfectly prepared and seasoned to my liking. The burger melted in my mouth, leaving me wanting more. My server, David was courteous, professional and friendly. This was my first time ever eating at BeeLiner Diner, but it will not be my last. If you happen to be in the immediate vicinity, please consider BeeLiner Diner, you will not regret it. Enjoy!

We came here for Bingo night one Thursday evening. This was something we were looking forward to all week and BeeLiner did not disappoint. From the colorful interior and wide variety of menu. They greeted us as soon as we walked in and provided great service through and through. The food was ok. There were huge portions and was more than enough for the 3 of us. it filled the gap while we played bingo. The milkshakes however were great and we still daydream about it. Definitely a fun experience to do with friends and family. Highly recommend!

Rating breakfast only: was surprised at how good it was. I was here for dinner when it opened and before they updated the menu, and it didn't impress. But this breakfast was absolutely spot on. Everything was fresh, seasoned just right, and a bigger portion than expected for a DMV restaurant. Overall impressed and would come back again.

Great spot! I had the breakfast burrito, and my wife had the country-fried steak. We also ordered some cheese curds. The coffee was tasty, and the rest of the food was delicious. The country-fried steak and fried cheese curds were fried perfectly. :) The breakfast burrito was also well made and a pretty significant portion! Finally, the home fries were well seasoned. We will be coming back to try more items on the menu.

I am so grateful to have found Lala! I found her on Instagram and saw how beautiful her work was but I figured I would never be able to afford it and had no expectations for taste - I was so wrong! Thankfully, I reached out via email and she replied, and the price was reasonable and the cake was incredibly delicious! Just look at the pictures showing how beautiful this cake is! Do you see that tea cup inserted in the middle?! I mean how detailed and beautiful?! This was my cake for my baby shower tea party and everyone was talking about it, taking pictures of it and wanted another piece because it was so good! I chose chocolate raspberry for one layer and vanilla caramel for the other. It was perfection! I was really ecstatic about the tea cup, fresh roses and baby’s breath on the cake. Everything I wanted Lala made happen, even those pretty little gold flakes. I feel so lucky to have found her through instagram because she’s so professional (not always the case with social media). I would love to order from her again and encourage anyone reading this to order from her also! Thank you so much Lala!

The cake exceeded my expectation!!! It’s really tasty and perfect amount of sweetness!! And Lala is really professional and she knows what she is doing! I asked her for a cake topper with “happy birthday with Sicilian symbol”. She did surprise me, it looks perfect!!! OMG !!!! I also got the design what I wanted. I have nothing to complain about this cake. It was perfect !! Lala is the best, I definitely will recommend everyone of you who looks on this review. She is the right one. I definitely will order the cake from her in the future!!!! I really appreciate you.

Lala is hands down the best baker in the dmv. The talent she has to create such beautiful cakes is unlike any other. I have been a long time admirer and was lucky enough to finally be on the receiving end. It was almost too pretty to eat (but I’m glad we did because the inside was just as delicious)! Everyone that saw/ate the cake asked who made it and immediately followed her Instagram page and became a customer themselves. I will be coming back again and again. Thank you Lala!! You are truly amazing.

As I entered, I was greeted by the inviting aroma of freshly baked goods. The kitchen is open and faces the shop area at the back. Improving ventilation could enhance the overall experience as the smell lingers inside. The lighting is soft, creating a warm atmosphere. The central counter features the cashier and various baked items on display. The coffee was decent, and while the chocolate orange scone was acceptable, it wasn't the best I've ever had. The breakfast bread with zucchini was moist, while the red velvet cookie was impressive. There are several seating areas with tables and chairs available.

We had our first experience over the weekend and were thrilled. The cookie was delicious and ice cream was yummy! The cookie sandwich was big enough to split after dinner but our kids devoured their own!! Highly recommend

I've been a huge fan of Captain Cookie since frequenting their Foggy Bottom location, so I was thrilled when they opened up a location closer to my home in Arlington. The cookie quality and variety is always fantastic. I enjoy when Aaliyah is managing the shop in Court House because she always has a positive and welcoming spirit/customer service and great cookie recommendations!

I was in Arlington location. I told her chocolate ice cream in cone. She said yes what about it! Funny conversation we had, I left the store. Well thank you so much for your respond. I appreciate that. Maybe it’s miss communication, I understand it happens. I wish you good luck in your business.🙂

Ice cream was fine. Not outstanding but not disappointing either. The one scoop ice cream is more than enough. Our server was a young man; he was very sweet and provided excellent customer service. Choices of ice cream were limited but nothing too crazy.

So good! My daughter LOVED the cherry blossom flavor. My son really liked hos chocolate ice cream as well. Kids haven't tried the cookie just yet so I'll try to come back & review on that later. The employee was super nice & helpful. Love the design & vibe of the store!

Cookie were soft and ice cream was amazing! Everything was delicious. The worker was awesome. She was very attentive, funny, and fast even with a line of people waiting. I will be recommending Captain Cookie to my peers!

Love! I treat myself to their shakes often, the coffee one is my favorite. Also, my son won their cookie cake from their game event they had recently, it was delicious 😋.

I contacted this wonderful lady to get cookies for my daughter's Sweet 16 Birthday Party. I requested samples before I placed the order. When my daughter saw the samples, she was over the moon. Our baker for the cake contracted COVID-19 and was unable to provide the services. I called my cake saver and she saved the weekend. The cake was beautiful and the taste was phenomenal. I am VERY particular and she is now my #1 Baker! She is a jewel and I will use her for ALL of my special occasions. She made it very easy to meet to pick-up my goodies.

Ted's Bulletin is a bustling eatery in Capitol Hill that serves American comfort food and offers breakfast all day. The place is popular, so it's best to arrive early to avoid the brunch crowd. The restaurant has a cozy 1920s/1930s vibe with leather booths and old school movies playing on projection screens.
I had a great experience at Ted's Bulletin. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the blueberry tart, it was the highlight of my meal! The service stood out the most; the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcomed throughout our visit. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to coming back soon.

Can’t say about other locations but this location is great! The staff here have such good vibes, they made you feel welcomed! Food comes real fast despite the busy lunch hour. We enjoyed our food a lot. Ordered some tarts to go, they are amazing!! Flaky texture and fruit stuffing are so good together. There’s a 5% surcharge, I hope the staff actually get the full amount! If they don’t, they totally deserve a raise!

Amazing Cinnamon Roll. We just stumbled upon this amazing restaurant and ended up coming here 3 days in a row. Their breakfast is great all around. If you’re lucky enough to visit when cinnamon rolls are being served order two ;) they are huge and packed full of flavor, the amount of icing could be more but it’s truly delicious. They have a tasty bakery section and everything I tried was top notch. Service was fast and friendly. Their prices were good and huge portions. Overall if you’re looking for a great meal give them a try or two!
Coach T — Google review
It was a pleasant experience, the atmosphere was nice and welcoming. I really recommend making a reservation. The host and waiters were super friendly, super nice. Thank you Mr. Mabi (Sorry I'm winging the spelling). The restaurant was tidy and clean, unfortunately there was some sticky parts on our table, I'll give them 7/10 on that. Talking about the food: I ordered, ● Crispy Calamari: was dilecious but could be crispier. ● Ted's Tomato Soup: dilecious, but also could be better. ● Stovetop Chili Soup: dilecious. ● Steak and Cheese Eggrolls: dilecious ● All American Burger: good but really heavy. ● Szechuan hot chicken sandwich: good but really heavy. ● Steak frites and NY strip: dilecious. ● Ragu Lasagna: was dilecious Food quality was great, survise was really good. Thank you all. Would I come back? Yes, I would.

So good, we went here twice. An amazing chicken sandwich and lobster roll, fresh and delectable. The dessert options are not an after thought like most restaurants and nearly everything is very worth the calories. And yes, the cinnamon roll is worth showing up early for brunch, it’ll blow your mind.
Stefan K — Google review
I've tried this place twice now and both times, the atmosphere, the meal, and the service have been excellent. My last visit was on September 1st, and Zack did a fantastic job, even during their rush hour. The food was genuinely great, the portion size was satisfying, and I enjoyed every bite. Thank you for the consistently great experience.
Mariam A — Google review
Zach the ginger was a good server. The food was good, but not necessarily great. The gravy had a vinegar taste to it. Biscuits were amazing. Cheese grits. Nope. Stop making them. They taste weird. Prices were reasonable too.
Raymond S — Google review
Amazing place to have breakfast! From walking in, I loved the feel. The large, brass and glass revolving door was so classic. Then, walking in to the hostess, upon looking around, the overall vibe had a very 1920s/30s look and they kept it well preserved. We were sat across from the bar, very classy, which offered a view of tasty looking drinks we weren’t having prior to a race the next day. I was in town for the Marine Corps Marathon and a buddy, who is local, took us here for day-prior carbohydrate loading. Ted’s did not disappoint!! I ordered Orange juice and coffee, both as to be expected. For breakfast, I chose the Norway Benedict, it sounded so good I couldn’t pass (carb loaded a little later haha). The eggs were perfectly poached and very finely presented, and the crème fraiche hollandaise was amazing, right amount, and not at all watery. The salmon was a nice touch, well prepared and tasted great. The tater tot was really good, although tater tot sounds like an injustice… It was more of a fried shredded potato cube—ok tater tot haha. Looking back, I didn’t even eat the Dijon frisée salad, I thought it was just garnish oof. But it looked very fresh. Next time I am in DC, I will be returning to Ted’s Bulletin to try the rest of the menu.

The Cheesecake Factory is a popular American chain restaurant known for its extensive menu and signature cheesecakes. It's a family-friendly dining option with generous portions and a wide variety of choices, making it suitable for everyone. The restaurant offers not only delicious food but also an enjoyable atmosphere. Customers often find it challenging to select from the diverse menu due to the numerous options available. Some patrons particularly enjoyed the lemon garlic shrimp and angel hair pasta during their visit.
Super busy for a 4:30 pm time. Their avocado egg rolls were as good as I remember. Their Jamaican shrimps has always been my favorite. Got a chicken pasta that hit so well! Very well fried. Crispy and juicy!

We had a great meal tonight. We started with the chicken and jalapeno fritters. I had the green Chile enchiladas and my spouse had the chicken costoletta. We finished with the peach cheesecake. A plus was that we could make a reservation. Our server took good care of us. Checkout the photos for the atmosphere. We liked the experience.

We had an amazing lunch, I had the Mac and cheese burger, I asked for it medium rare and was pleased with the amount of pink. The verity of cheesecake was impressive, I chose a slice of pumpkin cheesecake and was surprised by how light it was, it was just the right amount of sweet, although the whipped cream was a bit too sweet for me. Overall a great place to eat, will come again.
Declan H — Google review
The Cheesecakes are always spot on. Can't really say anything negative about them. Decadently delicious. Flavors listed on the menu always pop. Serviceable staff. Ambienceis a little loud. Wheelchair accessible. I highly recommend the roll sampler. Interesting. I wish they would experiment like this dish and their cheesecakes with more plates.

The food was okay, but unfortunately the customer service wasn’t the best. Our server seemed to be rushing us and wasn’t very friendly, which affected the overall experience. Here are my ratings: • Buffalo chicken strips 7/10 • Baja shrimp tacos 7/10 • Beet and avocado salad 10/10 • Cajun jambalaya pasta 7/10 • Mexican chicken and tortilla 8/10
Leen . — Google review
Pasta Carbonara is mediocre, too much cream and oil. The Pasta Da Vinci is much better! Some servers are nice while sometimes the service is quite slow and hard to approach. Edited: Louisiana Chicken is good
Tianling W — Google review
The service was great. The food wasn't the best this time. The appetizer was cold and hardly any chicken in my salad but lots of avocado.
J R — Google review
Food is on time and it hits every time. I just wish they had more cheesecake options. Sounds weird but all of the flavors and flavor combo cheesecake seemed to all be similar and lack variety. Servers are professional and communicative. No complaints for this location and how its run. Great spot for continued business as well

Love the setup in the restaurant. Wait time was a little long, but definitely worth the wait. The croissant was flaky, soft and buttery I might add. The bacon and eggs were cooked to perfection.

Truly some of the best buns as they supply bread to so many different restaurants around the area. Even from outside, one can smell the bread being baked and we couldn't help but go outside. Later in the day, one's options are more limited, but they still had a great selection. The staff were incredibly kind and helped provide suggestions on what to get. I opted for a whole loaf of monkey bread and it was sublime, but next time I'll be trying one of their massive cupcakes!

I went to get cupcakes and baguette. Sat outside, my friend got a chai. It’s her favorite. I think the cupcake was delish! I got redvelvet cupcake, too bad they didn’t have the big cupcake but I was happy with the small one :)

Really good taste. Cinnamon Rolls pack alot of flavor. The biscuits are top-notch and flaky. Just like Grandma used to make. Quite delicious.

Best Buns has been in business since before I discovered it in 1997. They are the real deal. The quality, consistency and value of their products is unmatched in this region. There are other bakery cafes that may have a couple of good products but at Best Bens every item is amazing. They seem to retain staff for years or decades and are always pleasant and kind. They were especially thoughtful when my spouse’s father passed and their kindness will always be remembered. Highly recommend for breakfast, lunch, takeout, holidays or catering. Thank you for being a highlight in NOVA.

Dama Restaurant and Pastry is a delightful family-owned gem nestled in Arlington, VA, serving up authentic Ethiopian cuisine alongside an array of delectable pastries. Established in 1998, this eatery has become a beloved spot for locals and visitors alike. The vibrant atmosphere buzzes with the chatter of patrons enjoying traditional dishes while sipping on rich coffee.
This was near my hotel, so I walked over. I was greeted by a delightful woman. She explained some of the menu items. I decided to try the vegetarian buffet. It was very good. In retrospect, I'd probably try one of the meat entrées, but the buffet was good! I also had the tiramisu and hot tea. The tiramisu was really good!
Jonathan C — Google review
Amazing food! This was my first time trying Ethiopian cuisine. The service was great—our waitress was very attentive and helped us choose dishes based on our preferences. We ended up sharing a meat and vegetable combo, as you can see here. The bread, paired with the hearty meat and vegetables, was very satisfying. We were only able to finish about half of it between the two of us! This is a great restaurant, and I’d most certainly come again.
Lead S — Google review
What a spectacular restaurant set in the Arlington-Fort Myer, and Pentagon footprint! I was incredibly fortunate to have stumbled upon Dama Pastry and Restaurant while I was in town for work and want to share my experience here with other inquisitive diners wishing to experience something novel. From the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel, Dama Pastry and Restaurant was no more than a stone-throw a way which made it an ideal dining choice for me. After arriving to town that day and settling in at the lodging accommodation, I soon found myself rather famished. Not the one to simply settle for the dining options and venues at the hotel, I wanted to explore the local cuisine. Almost immediately, Dama grabbed my attention when I did a quick search using Google maps. The restaurant sits off of Columbia Pike (Rte 244) at the corner of South Oak Street. The parking situation at the establishment is limited, with 4 spots in the front of the restaurant, while the side of the restaurant has several spots (definitely consider this if you're coming here with a large party). Dama Bakery and Restaurant has 3 distinct sections. There is the bakery (left; make sure you don't walk into the extreme left of the building as it is a salon), the market (in the middle), and the restaurant (right); you can also walk freely from one section to another as they are all connected on the inside. I happened to enter through the bakery from which the staff happily guided me to the restaurant section. Here, I was met with a welcoming host. The setting and ambiance were fairly modest with some portrait hangings that shed light on the history and culture of the establishment and cuisine. This along with the plain-straight forward menu was a refreshing change to the colorful, extravagant decor and menu pamphlets that can sometimes be overstimulating. Although not my first time having Ethiopian food, I still required some assistance and recommendations from the host. Again, the menu descriptions were straight forward and to the point however it contained culturally named items that I was not familiar with. The host was more than gracious and patient to explain these items and make her recommendations based on my preferences. After relatively quick deliberation, I submitted my choices and eagerly awaited the entree. The dish I ended up ordering was the Awaze Tibs. As I waited, I reflected and attempted to recall my previous experience with Ethiopian cuisine. Whilst I remembered the occasion and venue, I did not specifically have any take aways from the meal other than the fact that I simply enjoyed it. When the meal was delivered, my eyes were the first to feast on the platter. While simple in plating and presentation, the notion that the meal was infused with flavor was immediately apparent from the colorful notes that coated the beef cubes and slides while chopped green jalapenos added another splash of color. On the side was a freshly prepared house salad. All of this sat over the injera that met with the circumference of the aluminum plate like a perfectly sized placemat. The meal was paired with more injera that was carefully folded like a crepe ready to be unfurled for enjoyment. Followed by my taste buds, I could have not asked for anything more exhilarating to kick off my work-visit. The spice and aroma paired perfectly to provide a beautiful symphony that played out in my mouth. Eating with just my hands (this is the way), I enjoyed every bite of the beef as it paired with the delightfully sour-y injera. Having some bites with the fresh jalapeno, and some with the house salad, I ate until my belly could no longer - and even then I craved more. I continued to eat the injera that soaked up the juices and stew of the Awaze. Finally, after I was physically and spiritually satisfied, I surveyed the completed platter in a victorious gaze. What a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend to anyone staying at the Sheraton to give this place a try - there is no reason not to - as well as anyone in the Arlington area. It is a 100% must!

We had the meat combo with lentils, yellow peas, and cabbage as our veggie options, and it was perfect for sharing between two people. The food is delicious and authentically Ethiopian, and the service was great! Our waitress was attentive and happy to help, especially if you're new to Ethiopian cuisine. The restaurant has a casual vibe, making it a great spot to enjoy a relaxed meal. We were missing Ethiopian food, and Dama definitely hit the spot. After our meal, we stopped by the bakery for a slice of double chocolate cake, but I would pass on it next time. The cake was a bit dry, and the chocolate flavor didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Overall, I highly recommend Dama Restaurant for anyone craving authentic Ethiopian food!

I've been to Dama a few times and honestly it's the best Ethiopian food in the DMV. The service is always quick and the food is so delicious. Pro tip since you won't have room for dessert: make sure to visit the bakery side before dinner to grab some pastries to take home. You'll thank yourself later.

Located on the ground floor of a busy hotel, Corner Bakery is a casual cafe chain serving sandwiches, pasta and pastries. Their menu features standard fare such as salads and breakfast items, but both reviewers agreed that the food was excellent. The cafe is well-lit and spacious, making it comfortable to eat inside or outside on the pleasant streetside patio.
I appreciate how the restaurant is consistent in quality across visits.

Nice place around the corner, the name is quite well-suited! Spacious and clean interiors and the big windows add plenty of light. The food was OK for the most part, nothing disappointing but just regular. Nothing in particular stood out to me, at the same time the stuff was clean and fresh. The hot coffee is good! The eggs were alright too. The fruits were a bit too cold for my taste. The staff is pleasant and courteous and overall the place has a nice vibe to it so definitely pay a visit.
Sagar V — Google review
For ten American dollars, Corner Bakery will give you a chicken “pesto pasta” (which tastes more like plain butter than real pesto), and which contains no more than two tiny pieces of very thinly-sliced chicken. These portions suggest that the restaurant might be able to stretch a single chicken breast enough to serve ten separate orders. The bread isn’t bad. Overpriced and unimpressive food, however.
Corey V — Google review
Excellent service, delicious pastry and latte. The sandwich was good, too, — if you like spicy food, I highly recommend it with Asian Edamame.
Anna P — Google review
I had a Cesar Salad, my husband had a full-on breakfast, and we both agreed the food was excellent. We ate inside but felt safe as there was plenty of room between tables. Best of all, Corner Bakery was only a few minutes' walk from our hotel.

I eat here a lot. The food is good and the service is friendly. If you sign up online for their emails, you'll never pay full price. Their lemonade is not too sweet, which I really like. They also have Diet Coke on tap, which I also like.
Tyler L — Google review
Wayyyyyy to slow service, I was more than patient while waiting for my food but I started to ask where my meal was because I am on lunch break. My office is a block or two down and I didn’t even get to eat my food because it took 45 minutes just to be given to me. I order a half sandwich and pasta come on!!! And the food was mediocre at best, my sandwich was greasy and wet and the bread didn’t taste fresh at all. The cashier was rude and disrespectful, I was waiting in line and she took someone else who was behind me just for the fun of it. Never coming back
Rasha — Google review
Good place, I mainly just get coffee here. The coffee is good, but it tastes like your standard coffee. I'd say Panera's coffee is probably better, but it's still good. Edit: Thank you for starting to use paper straws! Paper straws are so much better for the environment and seeing this change makes a huge difference. This definitely puts Corner Bakery above their competitors in this area.
