I’ve visited this place twice for breakfast. Being situated near Besant Nagar beach, it’s very easy to reach and became my favorite spot to enjoy a morning meal. The food is truly delicious, with authentic Tamil Nadu flavours and taste. I have tried Idli, Vada, Dosa, Ghee Podi Dosa, Ghee Podi Idli served on banana leaf with different chutneys and hot sambar. It does get very crowded during peak hours, so service can sometimes be a bit slow. Overall, the experience makes it absolutely worth visiting. A must‑try restaurant if you’re in Besant Nagar and looking for a hearty South Indian breakfast.

We visited Murugan Idli after searching for the best veg restaurants near Besant Nagar Beach. This place is famous for its idlis, and we were excited to try them out. We ordered idlis, dosas, sweet pongal, and filter coffee. The idlis were soft and delicious, served with a perfect sambar. The dosas and sweet pongal were also yummy. The filter coffee was rich and flavorful. While the food was amazing, the ambience could be improved. If you're a South Indian food lover looking for delicious idlis and dosas, Murugan Idli is a great option. Just don't expect a fancy atmosphere.

Quantity is ok. - Servers carry the food items in large trays for the customers to see and pick the items, which I food to be a good and unique practice. - Ambience is just ok. - Sometimes the waiters place more items on the plate/banana-leaf without asking a prior. You'll end up eating and paying more, so we have to be careful and ask them to remove the extra items. - Other take home items that are sold at the billing counter are also good.

Went and ate at Murugan Idli shop at Besant Nagar beach. Food was very good. Had many items like kaara paniyaram, ghee podi idli,sweet Pongal, rava dosa and paneer butter dosa. My all time favorites here are Ghee podi idli and sweet pongal. Bought mini podi idli and paneer jamun as well for takeway. Got the final drink Jigarthanda which was fabulous as well. Bit expensive , but a treat for vegetarian lovers, so worth it. They provide varieties of chutneys for the idli and dosas as well which are so yummy. Other than these, they have snacks as well and sweets. Balakrishnan was very friendly, polite and co-operative. He made my dinner very smooth as well.

Loved the food, except the part uttapam was a little too thick. Like an idli but with things on it. The staff was nice and gentle. The chutneys were amazing.

Seems like a famous place but when I ate their idli, it was pretty average. I mean , there wasn't anything special in it. Just a normal Idli whuch you'd get anywhere. I would rate Sangeetha restaurant better compared to this, taste wise as well as accompaniment (3 types of chutneys)

What a food…! Excellent taste and texture. Idly sambar combo was a must try item. This place is situated near marina beach so while going that way all you guys go there and try it out. I swear it’s been a nice experience.

Best place in Chennai to have proper authentic south Indian food by far! Loved the Sambar here... It was just perfect. I had Idli smbar, Vada sambar, Pongal, dosa for breakfast. Everything tasted perfect and very fresh. The filter coffee was just wow. Also went here again to have lunch. Again.. Loved the lunch here, the proper south Indian food tasted sooo delicious. And the prices are very much affordable. Much much recommended to have breakfast n lunch here if you want to taste heavenly sambar.

I had a very disappointing experience at Ratna Cafe, Triplicane today. We ordered 8 plates of Masala Dosa, and the cashier confirmed the order. After paying the full amount (₹978 as per the bill attached), we were made to wait for around 10 minutes, only to be told "stock over." They forced us to change our order to Podi Onion Dosa, charged extra, and still made us wait more than 20 minutes. To make things worse, while we were sitting, the cleaning lady rudely asked us to move to another place - totally disrespectful! This kind of poor management, lack of coordination, and rude behavior is unacceptable for a restaurant with such a big name. They didn't even bother to apologize for the inconvenience. Totally not worth the hvne. Be careful before visiting.

Ratna cafe located in the midst of Triplicane market. It's a pure veg restaurant serving tiffins, lunch and dinner. The food quality and taste is very good. Went in for lunch around 2:30pm got the table easily , they have AC and Non AC sections in the same level. There is no price difference in the menu for AC, so one can comfortably seat and have their meal. I initially didn't know about it but the manager on duty suggested I can sit inside aswell. AC dining hall was centrally cooled and was pleasant, service boys were also good and took the order properly and served perfectly. Food taste was also good, one can blindly go here for any meals. Prices are a little premium and fine as we sit inside a AC dining hall and hygeine and cleanliness is good. Highly recommended if you are in triplicane and looking for veg food.

Very bad experience here. The roti was fresh but it doesn't taste good. I ordered mix veg curry but it tasted bad, that is really really bad, full of colour, and didn't feel safe to eat. On top of that, the food preparation was not handled hygienically. Honestly, it felt like they dont care about the food or the customers. Definitely not worth the money. Even the road side shop make much better food.

This shop is best for phulkas , stuffed parathas and there budget friendly combo, Don't expect rich taste of gravy, because price is very low here, so it will be typical of moderate taste and quality.

They said they have gpay but as soon as you eat they will demand for cash. They scam you and start shouting till you give them money. Women's not recommended. Don't go solo. They will also not let you out to get cash from somewhere. I had to wait. Finally someone from outside helped.

Good taste late night 11.00pm good panner taste

Not as good as expected. Pav bhaji taste could have been better. A very much disappointment with paneer butter masala. Aloo paratha was good in taste. Rate is quite high with the taste of the dishes.

It's a roadside dhaba. Tables are not available, only chairs are provided with stool. Economical especially for bachelors who can get homely food. For Rs 45 you get 5 phulkas and a cup of dhaal and a subzi. Other delicacies likes jalebi, dahi puri, alu paratha, panner paratha, laasi are to be tried out. It's open till 11 PM. You can also order through delivery apps like swiggy, zomato, uber.

The one of the best vadapav am never forget

We went to Karpagaambal mess first time today and saying we were disappointed is an understatement. We tried the Idiyappam, podi dosai and keerai vadai. The idiyappam was dry, kurma was very average. The dosai was made with pulicha maavu and podi was bitter. The keerai vadai was a big blob of undercooked mess. The sambar tasted like hot water with salt and coconut chutney was like room temperature water with less salt. No tomato or coriander chutney. Can’t believe they even messed up the filter coffee, it was watery and too sugary. The whole place is run down (maybe they are preserving the authenticity??!!) and even the waiters look like they don’t care.

Costly and crowded. Has now lost its charm. You can still try for nostalgia. Located near the temple this is the default food joint for temple goers. Melodious Thevaram is soothing. Another reason why you can visit this mess. Enjoy. Fully vegetarian as you know. So you can safely eat here.

Please avoid going to this highly over hyped place. There is no minus rating in google. The food is not even to average taste... Sambar chutney is so cold... Servers keep their long faces and show high attitude to customers. Check the bill amoumt... A2B, Geetham, Nithya Amirtham are best alternaruves and more cheaper... Pls dont go this place....

This is the 1st time i went to this hotel and disappointed. Took my kid for dinner and bought chappathi for him, it was hard on the edges he couldn't chew it and flour was all over the chappathi, kurma was bland. Not worth for the price. I don't know about others items in the menu. Definitely food inspection must be done in this hotel.

Went at around 7 : 30 pm to this restaurant and at that time there were only two customers inside this restaurant. Ordered their famous adai avial and it was good . Coconut chutney was excellent. Worst hotel I have seen in my life. Just aiming for money. Poor service . 2 poori Rs 150, 1 vadai is Rs 75 worthless. When small shops nearby the temple can give such good taste at an affordable price, a big shop well known like this is cheating people. If you don't want any taste in your food and ready to pay high price for it you can visit this worthless spot. Keeping God name for hotel but cheating people

Not that great for the hype created. Average taste and atmosphere but cost wis higher end! Expect different service experience between normal and AC service area.

On the new year day, we were a gang of 9 people..... we came in very late ... around 2.30 p.m. they were about to close since most of the items were over.... never the less since we requested they asked us to wait and then cleared a few tables for us. Whatever was available was served in the thali... to my knowledge the meals wasn't that great.... I am not a meals person.... my husband and friends liked it. I can understand their predicament when on such holidays to handle the crowd is a big thing.

We were a group of 8. Tried both Thooya Malli Rice and Red Rice Meals. Portion served was enough to meet the hunger levels. Comprised of Rice, Sambhar, Rasam, Butter Milk , a kootu and a Poriyal with Appalam and Pickle. The quality of food served was such that there was no flatulence or discomfort post the meal. Vada and Paneer as starters are a must try. Tasty food, Value for money, customer friendly service. Do try out when in Adyar.

If you're looking for millet based or traditional rice varieties of food then this is the right choice. Had lunch was top notch. Superb service, the dosai was excellent. If you are looking for a fancy one then this is not the right place only great food with excellent taste . Don't miss the Coconut based neera.

The family sitting opposite us at the table were taking their time to place the order. The children wanted a biryani. The adults were not so sure. Prem's Graama Bhojanam is at one of the cross roads and not immediately visible unless you drive right in front of it. But over the last 10 years, they've built a strong following. It's one thing to say millets are healthy. It's another to make it palatable and acceptable to people. The owner Krishnamurthi is a passionate man. He still talks to all his customers. And I guess he's lost track of the number of times he's told the story - about how he went back to his childhood memories and the food he ate then. At that time, millets were what poor people could afford. All that has changed now. It's become fashionable. And the most beneficial But this restaurant is anything but snooty. Tables are shared, conversation goes in all directions and the person who served us was gentle and attentive. We went for the seeraga samba meal. Simple fare but well made with the standard accompaniments, except for pickles. The buttermilk was cool and soothing. We had not visited the place for years. And it has moved from the first floor location to the ground floor. This harks back to a time when restaurants weren't bothered about decor. Or plating. Or atmosphere. But the food still sings And Mr. Krishnamurthi has more grey in his hair. But his sunny disposition and ability to strike up a conversation and remember people is still intact.

This hotel has moved to a new place. Many years ago it was operating in an old building. Has now a wide space and better atmosphere. Same food tatse that was served earlier. Cost will be little on the higher side only. Millet based tiffin and meals. Normal meals too available. Can try once in a while when in adayar side.

Food was not great. The Chappati and subji were really oily. The keerai vada was very nice. Paneer in some kind of more kozhambu with garlic in it was "different". I think the mini meals which friends ate wee better. The whole restaurant has a dusty old and could-be-cleaned up look.

The food at this hotel was really good in terms of taste and quality – definitely well-prepared and enjoyable. However, the portion sizes felt a bit small compared to the price, so it didn’t feel like the best value for money. Another challenge was parking – it was quite difficult to find a spot, which made the arrival experience less convenient. Overall, a pleasant stay mainly because of the food, but parking and value for money could be improved.

I had veg meals along with mutton kurma, mutton fry, mutton brain fry, vanjaram fish fry, prawn thokku, mutton thalakari, sura puttu, fish curry and an omlette. The meals along with mutton curry was amazing. The piece in mutton curry could have had more meat. The brain fry, vanjaram fish fry and prawn thokku were really good. The mutton fry had long ginger pieces which was wierd. The sura puttu was also good. The omlette tasted good along with rice. It had a good coconut flavor as it was cooked in coconut oil. The thalakari was decent. The fish curry was very bad though. I felt it didn't have enough flavor and it was somewhere in the middle between Kerala style fish curry and South Tamilnadu fish curry. The vanjaram fish fry was ₹310 which felt expensive. Overall around ₹1000 per person is a pretty expensive, but food and taste wise it's good certainly!

Very hygienic and neatly maintained space. Food here is not spicy. We ordered mutton meals, fish fry, prawns thokku, mutton sukka and omelet. Mutton curry was mildly spiced. Meat was tender and delicious. Curry is cooked coconut based masala and tempered with coconutoil. Vanjaram fish fry was fried in coconutoil well balanced and perfectly spiced fish. Very crispy exterior, soft and flaky fish. Prawn sukka stir fried in coconutoil and onion masala. Sweet after taste from prawns and onion was delicious. Mutton stir-fried in coconutoil with a blend of red chillies masala paste was a typical kerala style dish Egg omelet must try fresh and very hot. Bottle water, Rice, rasam, sambar, vegetable stir-fry and kootu is unlimited. Rice and veggies quality was superb, can't get better than this. I must mention the staff here they are very quick and service is top class. Must visit place if your in chennai or traveling to Chennai located opposite to chepaku stadium.

Nair mess is definitely a must experience restuarant. The food was very delicious. The vanjaram fish fry was the thinnest and juiciest one that I have ever tried. Mutton fry and prawn masala were worth the try. The mutton gravy was unique in taste with good and soft mutton pieces in them. The only downside is the ever crowded atmosphere, a bit expensive menu and a lack of proper parking.

Probably the first time I stepped out of a restaurant without a bloated tummy or acidity. The rice served was absolutely comforting. The meal had a mutton gravy which had a solid piece of mutton. As add on, I had omelette and prawns masala. One may feel the portion is little - but at ₹100+, it’s fine. Fish curry was yummy. Overall a good meal, far better than the ones around.

Krishna restaurant - located inside the New Woodlands hotel, takes you back in memory lane, quick service and fast moving place Suggest to avoid North Indian food and go for South Indian dishes which are very good North Indian taste for North Indian is ok ok and to avoid if you compare it from Delhi or other places from the north except for channa Batura which was nice Some dishes are spicy so be careful when ordering South Indian food and the coffee are excellent and a good choice

Visited for breakfast on a weekday. We ordered for idli vada puri and coffee The service was bit delayed despite not much of customers in the restaurant The idli and Vada was ok. The taste of Vada was not that great but ok The puri was oily and the lack salt and the masala was tasteless Even after informing the staff the manager they were so casual and not responding to our complaint Ideally this was one of the oldest restaurants which is premium priced in a premium location however I could see a casual attitude setting in their staff which might affect their image and impact the visitor footfalls The only positive point is ample car parking

We were looking for a good veg restaurant for dinner and ended up here. We need to give names and wait for tables. It took over 20 mins for us to get a table on weekends. The menu has decent varieties of predominantly south indian food out of which we ordered Masala Dosai, Onion rava, kothu paratha, Ghee dosai, Mushroom 🍄 fried rice and Rasam Idly. Food was served within a reasonable time despite the crowd. The taste of Kothu paratha was average and Idly in rasam idly is not great. The rest of the items are good. The service is decent considering the crowd. Pricing is ok. Overall Satisfying experience 😊

I have been eating here for ages. A bit pricey but you get good food. Their range of South Indian food is just gold standard perfect. It keeps you wanting more. Great for breakfast. Service is fast and attentive. The place is clean and does see a fairly large volume of customers. If you like South Indian breakfast this is your place.

Today I had lunch at Royal Sandwich with my colleagues, and I must say it was an amazing experience. I have been eating at this place for the last 13+ years now, and the craze for their sandwiches only grows day by day. Their menu options are the best, and the ice cream sandwich is on a different level. It tastes absolutely yummyyyy! The sandwiches are always fresh, and the bread varieties used are of the highest quality. The ambiance is great, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. I have never had a bad experience at this place. The prices are also very reasonable, considering the quality of food and service. I highly recommend Royal Sandwich to anyone looking for a great place to have sandwiches. I will definitely be coming back soon!

We went here for a quick bite, the food was good and tasty. It was prepared fresh and the ingredients were of good quality. We ordered A chicken burger, a few portion of nuggets and some smilies. All the items were fresh. Parking might be an issue and we had to park on the road. Otherwise highly recommended place.

The Sandwich here are really affordable but I feel the taste is average as compared to the brand goodwill and hypes. I ordered 10 sandwiches at the shop the waiting time was more compared to other shops, the taste of sandwich was okay too. The ambience of the shop was really great and the designs of shop was small and cute. Overall it was a good experience and a nice place for quick meetups with friends.

We ordered 5 sandwiches in total from Royal Sandwiches. Amazing sandwiches and lots of variety at a really good price. We had ordered Mushroom Cheese, Nutella Cheese, Pizza Cheese, Spinach Corn and Cheese and Paneer Mayo Sandwiches. We were absolutely spoils for choice. The delivery was completely safe and the packaging was good. The delivery person had sanitised his hands before delivering the food. The star of the show was definitely the Nutella Cheese Sandwich. If you want a quick bite to eat on a budget, this is your place.

Today, i went to buy Golu dolls in North mada street, mylapore.....for navaratri and I thought of visiting this stall to quench my thirst....and I noticed they do not take upi payments....they accept only cash...there was one customer who was fighting in the shop that he will complain to consumer court for not accepting upi....and shopkeeper responded rudely that it's his wish to keep upi or not....it made me thinking......1 rose milk cost 20 rupees and they sell a lot many rose milks a day due to heavy influencers like youtubers and instagrammers....so if they do not accept gpay or any upi and accept only cash.....they do not even provide any bill or receipt......so where does all this cash go??????? No sitting place or chairs in shop.. customers are treated in the worst possible way and forced to stay on road...... Are we customers fools ?????rosemilk in most of the shops in Chennai taste same.. or even better....so please avoid this Kalathi shop...

Try once to love it. Rare to find such centaury old small shops selling one product based on taste and of course the other factors do play like hygiene ,fresh plastic bottles , filling in front of customer... On the flip side they need to adopt the UPI ,cash only mode is not with the times.

A heritage gem in Mylapore! Famous for its creamy rose milk and paneer soda, Kalathi’s tiny shop still charms amid the bustling Tank Road.

The rose milk was well made and balanced with the right amount of sweetness. Seems to be quite popular amongst the residents of the area. Affordable at 20 Rs per bottle and only cash payments are allowed.

The taste still remains the same. One stop place for all rose milk lovers just at 20 rupees. They are selling the rose syrup too - 1 litre at 120 rupees

I really loved this shop it is small and cute, they provide the best Rosemilk in chennai it is located backside of the Kabaleeshwar Temple. You should try the Rosemilk for sure when you visit the chennai. This shop really famous for its amazing Rose Milk. Do try this for sure the price is reasonable 20rs per bottle. The taste is really amazing and cool.

One of the iconic places near Kabali temple in Mylapore that has been serving customers for over 50 years. Their trade mark Rose Milk is out if the world. A great place to quench thirst with quality drink.

After so much hype on social media tried this. Their butter is different and good. Jam is too sweet, may be sweet lovers may like this. Their butter milk is also good. You can try once for their legacy, if u have tasted in Selva milk Depot, Coffee Sahastra, Mamalan balery, more likely you may not like gopal bun. One appreciable thing is they are not using egg in bun unlike others. From having bun, I felt like it's eggless.

Visited around 10:30 AM to try the Bun Butter Jam. Though the shop had just opened, there was already a long queue. The Bun Butter Jam (Rs.40) was fresh and unique with homemade butter and the buttermilk (Rs.15) was decent. The place is very crowded and narrow with no dine-in space.  Overall, it’s a great spot to try Bun Butter Jam, but be prepared for the heavy crowd and limited space.

Been wanting to visit this place for years, but somehow never got the chance. Finally, I had some work nearby and decided to make it happen. Gopaul Diary is a legendary little eatery tucked inside a building, serving their iconic Bun Butter Jam since 1945. They have a simple menu with just two items — Bun Butter Jam and Buttermilk. Unfortunately, the buttermilk wasn’t available on the day I visited, so I went straight for their famous Bun Butter Jam. Once you place your order, it’s prepared right in front of you. The bun was soft, the butter perfectly balanced, and the jam had a subtle, not-too-sweet flavour that made every bite comforting. I loved it so much that I packed four more to take home. If you’re ever in George Town, this place is an absolute must-visit!

This place is as old as I can remember. My mom used to visit this place during her schooling days and she introduced this place to me. They sell Bun butter jam and buttermilk. Their bun butter jam is quite good ( recommended to get double butter jam) and the butter milk is quite refreshing. Have been visiting this place since childhood and taste is still the same. The downside is a slightly inferior location is small and often crowded !!!

Very Quick service. I used to travel from T.Nagar to broadway for Gopaul dairy's Bun butter jam. The bun butter jam is very good and pure vegetarian bun. Recently they have increased the price by ₹5/- and now the bun butter jam costs ₹40/- which I personally feel bit expensive. I would rather prefer to buy the same from the nearby bangalore based restaurants.

This shop is absolutely not clean. They handle the buns, butter, and jam with dirty hands and don't even wear gloves. Even without gloves, they could at least wash their hands before touching the buns, butter, and jam. After touching unsanitary surfaces, they handle the buns directly with their hands. They open the shop without cleaning at all and put the buns in a dusty box. The box for the buns and the knife are never washed. It's a small place with no airflow. The workers are sweating, and the sweat drips onto the buns. They wipe the sweat with their hands and then handle the buns, butter, and jam with the same hands. My humble suggestion to Gopal Diary: ​Please ask your staff to wear gloves and wash their hands. Also, please clean the food boxes and knives. I suggest you ask your staff to clean the shop every morning when they open. If you do these things, your shop will develop even more.

I've tried their famous bun butter jam and it was awesome. It was just few minutes past afternoon and all their buns are sold out. It's been in my list for a long time and finally got a chance to try their last bun of the day. There's nothing fancy but the taste of Bun butter jam speaks for itself. A layer of 'Uthukuli butter' between two layers of jam stays in your tongue for at least some minutes. Priced at 25/- it's advised to call and reserve urs.. Tried their buttermilk as well priced at 12/- was a decent one.. Will definitely visit again.

Awesome experience.. Fantastic service .. Great Presentation .. Although we made our reservation at 7:45pm, the receptionist was sweet to allow us inside at 7:15pm saying we are booked the entire slot from 7pm to 11pm. We chose Bela (9 course meal) and I have attached the menu and the pics of each dish. Needs improvement : There was considerable waiting time (~15mins) just to pay the bill, as they were carrying single card machine for the full bunch !

Had a memorable dining experience at Avartana in the ITC Grand Chola. The lunch menu was thoughtfully curated, with each course meticulously presented. Liked the serene atmosphere and elegant plating. However, the wait staff could benefit from more training in articulating the menu slowly, some of the dishes like the sago curd rice with papad were salty. The 13-course meal felt a bit excessive, taking nearly 3 hours to complete, yet overall, enjoyed the experience.

Yesterday we visited Avartana. This was my second visit (my first was two years ago, which I really enjoyed). Once again, I have no complaints about the food or the ambience both were excellent and definitely worth the money. What disappointed me, however, was the service. When we visit a restaurant located in a prestigious place like ITC, we naturally expect professional and attentive service. Sadly, the table service etiquette seems to be missing nowadays staff looked tired, and that reflected in how they interacted with guests. I completely understand that working in restaurants can be repetitive and exhausting, but as diners we come for the overall experience, not just the food. Service is what completes the fine dining journey, and I felt that part was lacking this time.

Avartana has been open for quite a long time now, and has won numerous awards in its lifetime. So I was rather disappointed to see the sharp drop in quality both in the food and the hospitality. I’ve dined in many fine dining restaurants and had many set menus. And Avartana was quite mediocre in comparison. First off, the overall presentation was rather sloppy. Our cutlery had not been polished well, and one of our glasses still had pieces of coriander stuck on the outside, which is a serious red flag in terms of cleanness. Their staples like their rasam and their fennel panna cotta were plated to perfection as usual, but other courses such as the seafood fritter rice, the cucumber and apple sorbet, and the stir fried chicken seemed sloppily plated, with food not aligned properly or seemingly thrown into the plate with no direction. We got the non vegetarian Bela which our waiter informed us would take 2 hours to complete. In reality, it took about 2.5 hours, the vast majority of which was simply waiting for our food to arrive. The service moved at a snail’s pace, with intervals of 20 minutes or more between courses. Either they did this on purpose to pad out the meal time, or the kitchen was seriously backed up. Both scenarios are a red flag to me. Though the wait time was the least of my concerns with regard to service. The wait staff at the restaurant was some of the most unfriendly and blunt I’ve experienced at a fine dining restaurant. They never asked us how we were liking the food, checked in on whether the pace of the courses was satisfactory, or spent more than a few seconds to explain the food and answer any questions we might have had. They didn’t even offer to refill our wine glasses, despite us paying by the glass and thus incentivising them to make us drink more. These are all bare minimum at a restaurant of this calibre and price point, yet were sorely missing here. You expect a meal at Avartana to be memorable. To be something you think about for years to come because of how unique the food is. But I’m sad to say that the only reason I’ll be thinking about avartana is to remind myself not to visit again due to how much of a disappointment it was. The only saving grace was the drumstick lamb with neer dosa and the fennel panna cotta. Those two were truly excellent, and are dishes worth remembering. Would I pay the full price just to eat those two dishes again? Definitely not.

We visited Vasco’s - Hilton Chennai for my birthday dinner buffet on 23rd March, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! The food was amazing with a wide variety of options, covering both Indian and international cuisines. Every dish we tried was flavorful and well-prepared, making it a memorable culinary experience. A special shoutout to Abhishek, Muthu, and Tharun from the staff who served us impeccably. They were extremely attentive, courteous, and professional throughout our dinner, ensuring we were well taken care of at every step. Overall, it was a fantastic evening, and I’m truly pleased with the service and ambiance. I would highly recommend Vasco’s to my friends and family for any special occasion or even just a great dining experience!

Visited Vasco’s at Hilton for a lunch buffet with family and had an enjoyable time. The ambience was lovely, and the spread was extensive with a wide variety of veg and non-veg options. While the food overall tasted average, the desserts were excellent. We also ordered pasta from the live counter, but it arrived only after we had finished eating. The service was decent, though at this price point I expected a bit more attentiveness. The buffet is ₹2100 per person. Overall, a nice place for a family meal if you value ambience and variety, but the food and service could be better.

It is an extremely costly place with very less vegetarian options, the only positive point is its ambience which is expected as it is located in the 5 star hotel. The buffet is self service, with items from live counters being delivered extremely slow. They have one or two good tasting desserts (majority of them being extremely sweet) apart from them, all the dishes are extremely average. Since, the restaurant is located within 5 star hotel, there was a lot of expectations from the restaurant which it failed to deliver.

Vasco's - Hilton really has shown that they value feedback and they value the people who come and dine here. My earlier experience wasn't so pleasant, to say the least. Service wasn't great , made worse by a rambunctious bunch who came to dine and treated the place like their backyard. I voiced out and they heard it and most importantly worked in it.This time around Food was top notch, every vessel/ bowl was getting refilled, the staff were running around making sure everyone was taken care of and attended to. The head chef Sreerag, Chefs like Ramesh and Nanda and staff like Medha are such warm souls, they took up both the criticism and appreciation with the same smile. Hilton needs to really take care of such good folks, they will make sure people keep coming back to this place for some good food and a good time

Excellent spread and food. Pizza was tasting good at a buffet. Desserts are kind of tilted towards pastries. May be this changes on daily basis.

Each dish was flavorful and well-prepared, showcasing a perfect blend of spices and textures that truly set the tone for the evening. For the main course, we indulged in Ghee Rice paired with Kozhi Varutha Curry. Bisbelabath, Vegetable Curry, and an assortment of Indian Breads. The mains did not disappoint; the Ghee Rice was aromatic and fluffy, while the Kozhi Varutha Curry was rich and comforting. The Bisbelabath was hearty and satisfying. The Vegetable Curry complemented the breads perfectly. The Indian Breads were warm and fresh. Overall, Vasco's offers a wonderful dining experience with an impressive array of dishes that are both delicious and beautifully presented. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine in a sophisticated setting. I look forward to returning for another fantastic meal.

First of all the ambience and service was exceptional, The food options are also good but only this food menu is repeated we could see almost same menu of last visit. Overall good experience, Especially for the dessert options we can visit often. Highly recommended

Anise was a little let down from what Taj usually offers in terms of hospitality and food. Have always been impressed with the impeccable hospitality and astute service in many Taj restaurants across India. Anise compared to them was not clearly Upto the mark. Sad to say looks like the high standards set for service and quality is getting eroded. The lunch buffet has great many options and has variety selection for both the continental and Indian palette. The service was slow and dis organized. Had to repeat the order twice and wait for 10-15 mins before they got the food. They have live counters and you need to ask the waitstaff for details as some waitstaff explain it when you sit down and some don’t Over all this seems to be something that they need to improve. On the food side the mutton gravy was good but the mutton it self was a little hard. The chicken briyani was also a little let down. The desserts hit the sweet spot. You need to reserve the table in advance on weekends as they get busy.

We visited to try their signature gilli biryani which was average to be honest but their service made up for it. We went on diwali night. We were served with complimentary sweet with diwali wishes from the manager i think. Had a nice fine dining experience overall. Will visit again.

Will I visit again - for sure yes Taj is a Taj starting from service to food all is top notch and one can keep coming back for more like I did for the mutton gili biryani which is a specialty for this coffee shop only and not available in any other taj Slightly high on spice levels but I still enjoy its flavours using some extra raita but it’s a must have !!! They also have a veg gili biryani which is also liked by my vegetarian friends and family who come here with me. I rank this as the best Biryani I have ever had in any part of the world and followed up with their cold coffee which also is amazing as it almost gives the flavour of filter coffee in it. Sujan the head chef has been holding the fort forever and it’s always nice to meet him and enjoy the added hospitality from him, thank you !

I had a wonderful dining experience at Taj Coromandel – Anise. I tried the Gilli Biryani, Galouti Kebab, Chicken Tikka, Pasta, and Parathas — each dish was flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The Gilli Biryani stood out for its aroma and taste, while the Galouti Kebab was perfectly soft and rich in flavor. A special mention to Vinoth and Dhanasekar for their warm and attentive service. They ensured everything was served on time and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, a memorable evening with great food and excellent hospitality. Definitely a place I’d recommend and look forward to visiting again.

We went for our anniversary dinner at Anise Taj coromandel. The buffet was good my personal favorite dessert corner. The staff were courteous. Our anniversary cake was really amazing and the texture was so good.

Anise is part of Hotel Taj Coromandel. We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Though we did not have the reservation but the staff gave us a table within 2 minutes. We preferred to go for buffet. The spread was quite big but somehow the veg food was just ordinary nothing great. The desert option was much better than main course, specially sandesh and sugar free chocolate cake. The service was absolutely top class. When we complained about very hard tandoor paneer, immediately they replaced it with a plate of fresh and very soft paneer. Thanks everyone for excellent service.

Spectra from The Leela Palace offers a wide range of cuisines in their buffet menu, ranging from Arabian to Italian. Their starter section consisted of 6-7 dishes, starting from paneer ones to even sushi varieties. The main course consisted of Kari Dosa, a few Indian and Tandoori dishes, Pasta of our choice and Asian dishes. The dessert section was truly a delight - they had a waffle station with assorted topping choices, 12 flavours of ice cream, a variety of cake choices and Indian desserts. The beach view was scintillating and the staff were really nice!! Definitely worth a visit if you like trying out multiple cuisines at once!

Spectra is for sure one of the most luxurious hotels I've ever been. The ambiance is amazing with huge chandeliers. The taste of food is good too.

I visited this restaurant on a Wednesday for team lunch. As you enter, the lavish interiors welcome you giving you a sense of excitement and raises the expectations about the food. As you start relishing the food the excitement will start to diminish. The starter section had limited varieties, especially non-veg sections, which isn't worth the cost considering we pay more than 2000 per person. Moreover, the taste of most dishes is bland. Maybe, to satisfy the foreigner's taste buds. For Indian taste buds it's a strict no. There were few live counters and a sushi counter as well. Desserts section had a good variety, which was the soothing part of the buffet. Loved their ice creams.

Our breakfasts at Spectra had been awesome last few days!. Kudos to staff Shimra, Priya, Chef Vinodh, Kitchen Executive Chef who was kind enough to dish out an delicious fish curry with steaming idlies and making us Chukku Kaapi, which are generally not available. Special mention to all staff at Spectra for their eye for details and speedy service. Thank you very much!

Went here for Lunch on a Sunday. It was peak hours so I wasn't very happy with the service given the price paid. Food was really good. No complaints. The staff were polite but a visible delay in service was seen. The spread is amazing! Chinese was amazing followed by the Sushi section. Desserts were pretty good too

While it boasts a wider variety in lunch buffet,the quality is sub par. Its nice to see so many live kitchens, but the uncooked pasta even after insisting, hard pakodas, vinegar high gaucamole stripped out basic expectation. Sushi were good, some starters were. Kadala curry and ice cream quality were average. I suggest, we can try once for the experience of it. But this place is lost cause for food lovers.

Went for a family dinner and it was my father's birthday. It was a superb dinner the restaurant is completely top notch and the services are superb. The buffet spread was very huge. Taste is something which is very important and I tried many hotel buffet but spectra buffet quality was too good. The services were amazing and the staffs are very polite and humble. They all are very attentive. Sameer the incharge was very caring and always checking for the quality service. Chef Aman also look after on our allergen requests. Especially mentioned staffs Sameer, Aman, Purnima, Geneive, Karthik , Pintu , Icshika , Alienla ,Ruksana and Priti . They all celebrated my father's birthday. I have never seen so many pieces of mushroom in a soup ever as I have in this restaurant! Great value for every rupee you pay! Mushroom soup was awesome. So was Mushroom Fried rice. Paneer biryani was not so spicy but good.

Pros: Great place to dine especially for dinner. The food was of good quality and quantity. As it was near to the place I stayed. There were singers doing a nice live concert and the vibe was pleasant. Service was good. Cons: The cost of the food was expensive. We ordered paneer pulav and it was bit oily. Informed the bearer and he informed that it was olive oil used in the making of the pulav.

Sangeetha is undoubtedly one of the popular veg restaurants in Chennai. They are providing variety of vegetarian dishes and meals with good taste and quality. This place is located on the sardar Patel road and close to Madhya Kailash signal. It’s usually crowded with people and always difficult to find the parking spots. The staff’s are friendly and polite. The wash room and restrooms are small but tidy. We ordered several items like meals, North Indian dishes and mini meals with dishes and deserts There are two floors in the restaurant but still crowded. Overall if you want to experience high quality veg food then you can definitely go there.

Sangeetha Pure Veg is hands down one of the best South Indian vegetarian restaurants I’ve ever visited. Got a takeaway from this Outlet via Zomato. Sambhar had a big plastic thread inside. Its a horrible experience to find this level of quality standard. Never expected it from this outlet.

A regular customer for more than ten years .. now a days.. feel that Standard is reduced a bit ..pls look into this.. .. Yesterday visited for lunch .. not that usual crowd .even got a car parking .. . got a seat in first floor ..outside seating . The service person was lethargic .. starters ..roti n side dish..pulav.. .. all were given at same time .. usually starter is given first n other things one by one.. Veg Soup ,babycorn starters and even paneer gravy everything had a pinch of salt extra and spice level was more .. did not like that much ..not as usual .. Last week due to crowd .. only second floor seating for lunch ..was given.. the handwash area cramped and food did not like that much .. though it's olive oil cooking i think..always noticed the ground floor n first floor food is better .. I don understand how ..certain food is cooked in seperate kitchen i guess ..

This is a pure vegetarian restaurant. The food was very good and too tasty. The quality was very good and quantity served was worth the price. There are plenty of varieties on the menu. The atmosphere is very good inside the restaurant. There are also multiple other resturants in the same building. There is plenty of parking available but during peak hours it may get difficult to find a parking slot. Must visit when you are in Chennai.

As a new explorer of Chennai, I found out about this place through one of the social media platforms. Their ambience shows that it’s a typical old restaurant and its customers are such. We had their over priced, mediocre filter coffee, decent pesarat and underwhelming rava kichdi. Sides were common for all yet not my opinion. Doesn’t hold up to the traditional name it has built but pure vegetarians might find this place as heaven on earth.

One of the popular places in Chennai for Veg food. They serve North and South Indian dishes along with Chinese. Never tried North Indian food here but have always enjoyed South Indian. They serve the best Rasam Vada, Dosas etc. Their chutneys are just too good. One can order extra Chutney for the sake of its taste. Their filter coffee is good too. They have enough parking for both 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers. Service is very fast and staff is well trained. Almost every staff can speak Hindi. So it becomes easy for non Tamil visitors. Definitely visit if you are in Mylapore area.

Had a good South Indian lunch in a restaurant after a long time. The restaurant is attached to New Woodlands Hotel. 2 more restaurants here are Krishna and Tanjore. All 3 are fully vegetarian Good service and food but a bit crowded and noisy, probably because it was a week-end. There is also a separate ice-cream centre run by Cream Centre

The serving staff should be courageous when somebody body asks for extra food ...should serve rather than saying you will not get this in your thali. I visited the T. Nagar branch of Mathsya today with a friend, and it turned out to be an embarrassing and unpleasant experience. We had booked through Zomato by paying a ₹50 cover charge, expecting a smooth dining experience. However, only upon reaching the restaurant did they inform us that the offer was valid only for buffet customers. Nowhere was this clearly mentioned during booking. We just wanted to try a soup and a few starters, not the buffet. The food itself was a huge letdown. The soup was just about decent, but the starters were an absolute disaster. We ordered Mushroom Manchurian and Golden Fried Baby Corn, and honestly, they were among the worst I’ve ever had — dripping with oil, poorly made, and completely lacking in taste. To make things worse, when the bill arrived, they initially refused to adjust the ₹50 cover charge, forcing us to argue with the manager before they finally deducted it. This whole situation was unnecessary and left us extremely disappointed. Overall, this branch of Mathsya was a total letdown — bad food, poor communication, and unprofessional handling of customers. Definitely would not recommend this place to family or friends, and I will never return here again. Reply to your Response dated 23/09/2025 Okay, I’ll deal with Zomato directly regarding the offer. But what about the food? That was entirely your responsibility, and it was honestly a huge disappointment. The experience for taste buds was awesome!!!! Though the place is crowded on weekends it is worth a try. The north indian spread was good. Their budget friendly buffet for breakfast was splendid!! I had a fun time here!!!

It seems they focus more on buffets. The menu card lacks creativity, with only the usual items featured. Had lunch buffet with friends. Food is Good. Hygiene is maintained well. Price is little high to the food offered here. If you have offers in Swiggy Dine-in/Zomato/District it's better to have buffet. Try with offers it would be worth. But without offers price is high

The Mathsya in T Nagar is nothing like Mathsya, Adyar or other branch. The service was slow and very biased. No much options in lunch. And the food was served cold. Would request to try breakfast which is better than lunch.

They have Sangria and the Sangria is excellent. The service is nice and friendly. Like most bars in Chennai, it's dark and closed. Unlike bars in Bangalore which are bright, open and airy.

Decent place. Being an old place it attracts good crowd owing to its prime location too. But I personally feel this place needs to be renovated or redesigned in some way to stay upbeat with the time. Food, drinks and service are good. No complaints.

It's a nice place for a joyful dinner on someone's bday or a Team event. Food is nice and variety of starters available. Not much options for vegetarians but a nice place for drinks+good. The staffs here celebrate bday's as well.

It's a compact place with good ambience. You can select the buffet with/without Liquor. Non liquor - 1000 & Liquor - 1600 plus tax. I ordered 'Ban the Banana'. The title on the menu says fresh fruit shake but it has ice cream. Upon speaking to the manager, he says that the customers are expected to know the details without it being informed in the menu. How can someone assume that this information is universally known. Also, why is ice-cream added to a product under fresh fruit shakes category. The manager justifies that it is how it is. I empathize with the employee who prepared the food. Also, the employee at the billing section at Nungambakkam branch doesn't understand Tamil and shows indifference to provide the information. I told him less sugar and and that I don't want the shake cold (I can't have cold drinks and have cut down on sugar) Even then he just nodded as though he understood my every word. If only he had warned me just in time, the order would not have to be prepared and it would not go waste. Seriously, they got to improve the service.

I had banana milk shake and lemon and mint juice. They are maintaining the quality and flavor for the past 25 years and it’s no ordinary feat. Highly recommend this place!!

This franchise has grown well over the years and has been pioneers in serving juices from fresh ingredients all the time. This shop is located in the heart of the city and has been my go-to over the years. . Paneer Sandwich - Regular sized sandwich with lettuce, tomato and Paneer; pretty stale since there was zero spice; the filling was still cold which ruined the overall bite; Naaaaah Golden triangle - An amalgamation of Pineapple, sweet lime, grapes; this was almost the perfect combination since the sourness from all the 3 fruits helped hitting the sweet spot like in the center of the triangle; wasn't too sweet but was refreshing Tender coconut pudding - Sticky, jelly pudding with so much of elaneer in it; the gooey consistency was okay but apart from that, this hasn't got much to offer Alphonso mango juice - Mild-sweet mango beaten with ice; pulpy with rich flavor from the fruit; definitely still the King of fruits . Unfortunately, my experience during this visit has been rough and wasn't satisfied to my fullest. Maybe it was an off-day but they still have scope to improve on. The service was decent enough with good seating space and lighting. Parking should be okay with good space along the main road. Perfect for a quick drink on a summer day with the prices too being okayish.

Update / 16/09/22 First visit to this location post pandemic and it was a bit of a let down. Don't get me wrong, the flavours were still brilliant and the location retained the same ambiance but there were some things that were annoying. Starting with the lack of most of the things on the menu esp my favourite falooda was a utter disappointment. We made a list of 13 drinks and of that 7 were unavailable and we all went for other drinks. The tender coconut pudding and jughead were so good. Old Review. Get a Jughead after a Falooda and you'll know what grinning like an idiot looks like 😋 Exceptional desserts and drinks that leave you with a smile, every single time. A haven for the city especially during summer days.

Hi Google users, I visited this place for lunch. Overall it was a pleasant experience. We ordered Jalapeno Poppers and Kathi Rolls for starters. We also ordered a portion of Roasted Pumpkin and Peanut soup. All the starters were fresh and tasty. Chef's Baked Bowl was excellent and they served it with toasted bread. The bowl has many vegetables and mushroom. The cheese crust was baked to perfection. We also had Pesto Fusille pasta. It was very creamy. The last time I ever saw my waist is the best dessert I have had for many years as it mixes icecream, brownie and chocolate sauces. The Apple Pie was a show steller as they served it with whipped cream. If you are in and around Besant Nagar area in Chennai then I recommend visiting this place for a quick bite or big meal. Really, really good food. The Spaghetti Supreme is the best pasta I have ever had!! Milkshakes are also fantastic and their sundaes and ice creams are all very nice too. Quite a novel approach to assembling an aubergine parmigiana, where the chief components, namely the aubergine, the sauce and the cheese weren’t layered but made into a sort of casserole with the eggplants chopped into cubes and tossed with the sauce and the cheese sprinkled on top. I appreciated the flavourful tomato sauce that had fresh torn basil leaves and was a mix of mildly sweet and acidic notes. However, the cheese wasn’t Parmesan to begin with, and to add to the diner’s woes it was a kind of diced cheese sprinkled over the top that hadn’t even fully melted let alone baked to a brown crust. I hope the management takes measures to improve this dish that had come so close to hitting all its marks.

Great food. Go to restaurant for years now. North Indian and continental dishes are of great quality and quantity. Kid friendly as well. Thoroughly enjoy their breads and pasta. Since it's quite a small place, expect crowds during the weekend and it's quite noisy inside the restaurant too. Average food, average service, average ambience. An OG night spot for late night eats. After 11pm this becomes a great place to go, especially for the chilli cheese toast and rasam vada. Having tried almost everything on their menu over the years before and after renovation, this place makes for a decent visit. Don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed. I still go to this place from time to time.

This is a 75 years old Udupi restaurant serving pure vegetarian cuisine at Egmore. It has progressed over the years & offers a contemporary cosy ambience for families. Though well known for udupi varieties, north indian & a few chinese items are also offered. The prices are moderate & facilities such as Aircon, valet parking etc are available. A must visit vegetarian restaurant!

The food tastes really great, no difference in the restaurant experience from other restaurants of this class. The quality of the food is neat and clean. Dishes taste wonderfully the same even after years. Parking is bit hard to find. Bike have different parking entrance vs the car which is just below the main entrance of the restaurant. Overall satisfied with the experience and the food quality and taste.

August 2025 report: Restaurant has free but limited parking for cars Parking is managed by one Hindi speaking guy who doesn’t even know to say “right or left” and uses sign language with Hindi words Visited this place for veg fine dining based on friends recommendation and the management chose to be kanjoos with staffing. Atleast have an English speaking North Indian to guide the parking. We had serious trouble finding parking space with Hindi only speaking staff. Definitely not a great start for “fine dining”. We tried raja raja chozhan dosa and rava onion dosa for main. Chozhan dosa is overrated , it just has tomato chutney and coconut chutney spread inside the dosa with capsicum and tomato bits. Not worth it. The sambar is really good but they are not keen on refilling . The tomato chutney was spoilt and coconut chutney was “cold” like it was just pulled out of refrigeration. They dint have basic courtesy to heat the cold coconut chutney . We already lost the good will of this place and we just wanted to finish it off and walk out We also ordered rasam vada which is good. We thoroughly enjoyed rasam vada and highly recommend it Service: below average service . We were reading menu to check what to order for sides and the order taker just removed the menu book while we were reading the menu. Pathetic . This a best place to have lassi in chennai. We went here in evening to have snacks. We tried their Special kalakand, special lassi, Rabadi, Samosa. We liked everything so much. The lassi was great and perfectly sweet, the kalakand and rabadi tasted awesome! Even the samosa was great. It's a small hotel, you'll have to eat by standing, but the taste is great! Highly recommend this place to have amazing food.

Since we didn't get a table in Kites, we happened to enter Fusilli. The food was good quality with a variety of pasta options. sandwich 🥪 and Nachos 😋 The plates and spoons used here are eco friendly disposable ones. Awesome pink lemonade....and iced tea. Most of the customers were youngsters. They also had lots of takeaway being prepared for 🚚 delivery. The security at the gate is a nuisance.

I recently visited Fusilli Reasons, and while the food was excellent, the overall experience left room for improvement. Their signature pasta was flavorful, well-cooked, and absolutely worth trying. 🍝✨ However, the service was disappointingly slow—it took nearly 10 minutes just to take our order, even though the place was barely full. Another area that needs attention is cleanliness. A more hygienic and well-maintained space would make the dining experience even better. Great food deserves great service and a clean setting! Hoping they work on these aspects because the food truly has potential.

An absolute favorite of mine since 2015! Their garlic bread is unmatched — especially with the three signature sauces drizzled on top. The beetroot one is my personal favorite. Their Mac & Cheese truly has my heart — hands down one of the best in the city. Creamy, comforting, and packed with maggi flavor. The dine-in space is on the smaller side and can get a bit noisy, but the food more than makes up for it. Everything was perfect. Food was awesome. I had masala mac which was fantabulous. And both the beetroot mayo garlic bread and corn and spinach garlic bread was awesome. The Creamy pesto pasta was a bit salty but not bad. The pricing was not high considering the quality and quantity of food. overall experience was great. The order also was prepared in less than 10 to 15 minutes. Even though they have a small outlet they're providing valet parking which is nice. Definitely the best place to have pastas and garlic breads.

I remember when fusilli was a small shop in ormes road and I had a huge plate of pasta with my friends from school , it's been more than 10 years , the location has changed , the quantity had changed , the taste also has changed , but the nostalgia stays the same. I come here and i enjoy eating the food , especially pesto pasta , beetroot mayo garlic bread (my mom's favorite), and the vanilla pot. Some complain it's the same old boring pasta , but sometimes it's the same thing that we ache to feel once again....I hope this restaraunt never goes away, i hope I get to bring my kids here too, I'll let them know I was a kid eating here too just like them. If it wasn't for the unlimited menu, thi place wouldn't really be worth going. The food is not over the top, and all the pizzas don't differ much in taste. Also the dessert, starters menu is not as fulfilling as one would expect. However it's a good place to hangout, when in large groups. The staff is friendly. The buffet service is quite efficient. All said, you probably wouldn't be going to this place more than once. You definitely would have had better pizzas than the ones served in this place.

First visit - it was good. They had some pizzas unavailable in non veg unlimited category. But it was very tasty. So I rated 5. Second visit - really bad. They had nothing. No bacon, no prawns, no eggs. All they had was chicken pizzas available under unlimited pizza category. Taste wise it's a good place to go. Chocolate and banana pizza, chicken keema pizza was really delicious. Really loved it and it became my favourite. But stocks maintaining is really worst. Not visiting another time. The waiter was honest enough to say that previous customer did not like that taste so we stopped it for today. I liked that approach who are considering customers reviews. Coming to food... Cheesy Garlic bread had very less cheese.... it could have been better... Paneer was good... it was a decent taste.... Pasta also cheesy pasta was not available... so i went for a sausy one which was neither bad nor good according to my taste.... PIZZA was so awesome... i really liked that taste although the size of that pizza is very less for that cost. So i would suggest people to choose unlimited Pizza option and eat a lot and have your tummy satisfied 😊.......

I visited Eating Circle Restaurant this morning for breakfast, and while the food was acceptable, the service at the point of payment was truly pathetic and unprofessional. The cashier at the counter processed my order and went straight to the payment terminal without once asking me my preferred mode of payment. When I clearly stated that I intended to use Swiggy Pay, he responded rudely and abruptly, saying I "can't pay" that way because he had already entered UPI into the system and refused to change it. This inflexibility and lack of basic customer communication is unacceptable. A cashier should confirm the payment method before finalising the transaction. Being spoken to rudely and forced to pay using a method I didn't choose is a major failure of service. I was eventually forced to use UPI. Management urgently needs to train their staff on simple customer interaction and payment processing etiquette. Avoid this restaurant if professional service is what you seek. Neer Dosa is very over priced! NB: at the time the restaurant changed the menu pricing listed in Swiggy Dining

If you are looking for authentic and tasty Karnataka style breakfast in Chennai, this place is best for your cravings. I have visited twice and really liked the quality of food here. It's very clean and comfortable place with decent and cool atmosphere. I tried Kesari bath, Rava idli, Masala Dosa, Medu Vada, Mangalore Buns, Coffee - all were absolutely yummy and perfect choice for breakfast. Especially the chutney and sambar were lip smacking. It's a self service and the only issue I felt the prices are literally high. Overall, it's totally worth visiting here.

One of the best place in Chennai try carnatic foods. Their kara bath, ghee soaked podi dosai and filter coffee are must try dishes. The best part is, whatever is in the menu is served throughout the day.

This place is more suitable for those who like Karnataka type breakfasts as their sambar is a bit sweet and dosas are similar to Karnataka. The food is good though.

This place serves simple meals at a cheap cost. They are very organised to control the crowd as well. You pay 10₹ etc for curd and ghee. Rice was more like அச்சடிச்ச சோறு, which I didn't like. The sambar and rasam were good. Kaarakolambu was soso. Worth going if you don't have much expectations.

I stopped by Kasivinayaga Mess in Triplicane. It was on my bucket list, but it did not meet expectations, or perhaps the taste was off that day. To get paruppu podi or dhal, you need to buy a separate token, each costing 10 rupees. Meals were 120 rupees. The sambar was disappointing, but the pappu podi, kootu, and pineapple Rasam were enjoyable. I had pineapple Rasam for the first time in over a decade. The serving of rice was generous. Excellent south Indian food. Few points, remember there is a queue for token, next seating by color of token in turns again from queue, seating based on number of token match to number on table. Rice tightly packed into bubble cylindrical shape.. I thought I could eat 2 but it's tightly packed...one was sufficient. At Rs.90 worth far more. Awesome sambhar, rasam and kottu poriyal Appalam pickle. Dhal podi ghee available at Rs.10. Packing Rs.120 but need to pick on 1st floor. My suggestion to management... please simplify token distribution and seating. Keep people on single queue wanting to have lunch. Give token when table available so that seating is immediate. And packet delivery at ground floor entrance... hard of people with knee and age issue. But once again great Sambhar....please keep the food taste same.

They've been operating since 1972. Highly overrated mess. Price (110) didn't justify the quality of food or service. A very very small table where even the banana leaf was jutting out. The rice was below average and hard. It's moulded in whatever dish and looked real sad. The other dishes were also below average. The service was also poor. The staff weren't looking trained. I was expecting homely food and a decent atmosphere. Both zero. With so many mansions nearby, they really need to look into the price, quality and service.

This Food Establishment is situated at Fountain Plaza, opposite Co-optex , Pantheon Road. The name captures the essence of the oldest North Indian Chaat shop featuring their own factory made healthy snacks and flavorful masala, pickles & sweets. This shop offers a wide range of chaat, samosa, cutlets, sandwiches, aloo Paratha combo and chole baturee. I can suggest this place for providing snacks and chaat at a very nominal cost starting from Rs.35 INR maximum of 200 bucks. I tried their cutlets, chole bature, Pav Bhajii, Vada Pav, Dahi Papdi Chat and Samosas. This place definitely offers a taste of Gujarati !

It's a small chaatwala kind of place. It was one of the cool places to hang around in 90s. Fountain plaza was the" happening" place back then. Pantheon road was also much much better. It's almost 50 yrs old but still retains the nostalgic taste of the then " north indian chaat" which was available in very few shops. I felt the rush today of those days when entering the shop. Even today it's a favourite joint for many people. Food 4.5 ( had tawa paneer pulao, the raita was slightly less in qty). Service was fast. This place has one of the best sweets and snacks (north indian). There is no better place in Chennai than kakada for milk based sweets. The price is a bit High, but it is definitely worth for the taste. Badam milk, rasamalai is a must try in this shop.

We have been regularly visiting here . Yesterday we got a ghevar which turned out to be a old product fully dry . We did not expect this from Kakada Ramprasad... Once they get famous this is the issue. Will advise to check everything before you take delivery if not you'll will be in for a surprise and it will be a shame especially if you gifting it .

If you like pizza toscano is one of the best spots. They serve sourdough pizza all of them are very very good. I have tried them in Bangalore and Chennai both have the same excellent taste. Would highly suggest for people to try once. It is costly from POV but worth a try. They had live singing too which was really good. The voice was so pleasant would visit again for both food and the singing

Extremely small yet amazing momos. It might be difficult to figure out where the place is at first but you can check the images I have attached. I tried fried veg momos and my friend tried chicken. It was so damn different the filling was so good. I read over Reddit and found this local place. Must try momos place. I would not recommend noodles until you are looking for some street style noodles.

The Restaurant is located in the ruin, hard to find. They have only 3 items on the menu and I tried all of them. The momos and chowmein were okay but not wow. The cold noodle was a disaster, I don't what they are selling in the name of DHANGTHUK. It is supposed to be a traditional Tibetan dish and I tried it many times in northern parts of India such as Himachal, and Darjeeling. The Restaurant itself was so filthy and unhygienic that it felt like they hadn't cleaned the bamboo sticks for decades. The entire food was incorporated with red chilies which is not good for health so I neither recommend nor I'm going back to this place. POS-: they don't have anything like Thuppa on the menu which they have displayed on Google.

Tried this place after hearing about it for long time about their momos. Very small space but their chicken steamed momos tasted good and fried chicken momo was a bit oily i felt. The chowmein wasn't authentic but more like a normal street style noodle, the taste was so good and i loved it. the best part is the dip they give along with the momo which elevates the taste of the momo.

The main highlight of their place is the sauce they serve. It is a must try spot for savoury lovers. The only drawback is the atmosphere and their parking facility. They in lack both of them. There's no parking space, you may have to skip it, if you're here through your bike/ car. Food was warm and fresh, tasted divine. The service isn't that great. Even though there are about a dozen people, just 2 are managing the whole floor. The wash are and the floors are all in need of some deep cleaning.

We went to this outlet for evening tiffins. Very quiet and not much crowded - as we chose that time for have a peaceful time. Ordered Idly, Karam Dosa, Sambar Vadai, Kuzhi Paniyaram. All were served sambar and 2 types of chutneys. Dosa was ok types. Sambar Vadai was soft, however the sambar was not that hot. Idly was ok. They served 4 pieces in Kuzhi Paniyaram. Not so great. Ambience was quite good and even the service was ok. Food (taste) could have been better. Given a chance, would go to this place due to the proximity to the Guindy Metro and Railway station. Otherwise, this won't be in my top list.

Had a good meal at Sangeetha Veg, Guindy. The Ghee Roast Dosa was a bit too crispy for my taste but still flavorful. The Thayir Saadam was simple, fresh, and comforting, and the Limited Veg Meal offered a nice mix of well-made dishes. Quick service and reliable quality make it a solid spot for South Indian veg food.

Size of the idly is very very small, it is almost similar to papad size. It's cost around 25rs each. And bonda is having less stuffings inside it. Waiters won't care and all, if we ask anything about the size. They simply walk away from us 🤬🤬🤬. Planning to give a complaint to the food authority. Manager told us that they got a complaint already regarding the size, but they didn't even take action of this.. Worst management. *NOT RECOMMENDED TO EAT HERE..* *NOT WORTHY FOR THE PRICE*

South Indian Eatery is known for serving about 30 varieties of Dosa alone along with with other regular tiffin items like idly , vada ( they are really big and sumptuous) , curd vada with boondi, pongal etc. Their usp is quick delivery and fresh items. But the only issue is no tables are available to keep the plates for standing and eating. Must try Gobi Fried Rice , Thatte idly and Butter Paneer Dosa.

A vegetarian tiffin outlet quite close to Tirumangalam metro station offering various varieties of dosa, idlis, rice, vada, kuthu Porotta, etc. Often gets heavily crowded but the service is quite quick with not much delay in delivery. Does offer take away and stand and eat options. No tables or seats can make it a bit tough. Definitely a great place to try various dosa, the masala in masala dosa can be quite heavy and vada quite big.

Today I brought Mixed fried rice, the price was revised, I couldn't find any information on that. After checking the bill it was charged Rs 160 + GST then checked with the cashier he said yes revised 2 months back. Not Value for the money towards taste, quality, hygiene & service. Felt the quantity also much lesser than earlier. Definitely not worth it for that parking search and standing in the queue to get billed and stand in the road to get that food by paying such a premium amount. 1 Mixed Fried Rice & 1 Gobi Manchurian bill was Rs 300 took almost 40min not at all worth it.

Good place to catch pure veg tiffen items for dinner. Varieties of dosa available and pretty fast service considering the crowd there. No dine-in seatings and you have to take the corner of the street to eat what you bought. They have very average tasting juices on their menu but the main courses like masala dosas are loaded with the masala and very heavy. Think before you order two for yourself.

We visited Indiska Magic on a Friday evening. The store is located on Harrington road and it has limited parking and it's tricky (due to the access). They offer a variety of sweets and savouries. They also have a restaurant attached where they serve chaat, starters and main course. We ordered a bunch of items on the menu. We got pani puri - they serve it with regular puri and sooji puri. The sooji puri was a little soft and crumbled, but the staff fixed it when we told them. The pani puri comes with 3 types of pani. Apart from the regular sweet and spicy water, they also offer a chilli garlic pani. Special shout out to their paneer tikka. It was exceptional. The soya chaap was good too We also preferred masala buttermilk and badam milk. Both were good. Overall, it's worth trying and I'll be coming back here.

Came to this place after so many years, since pandemic it’s my first time, I used to have sizzling pav bhaji and today I didn’t try but some other table, where trying and the aroma is still the same of that sizzling pav bhaji. I came here and tried their Lucknowi galouti wrap, it took a bit of time to serve due to making it fresh, so it got delayed and apparently the taste was worth off a wait, it was kind of romali roti or refined flour roti which was galouti tiki kebabs which was stuffed within the wrap and served with green mint chutney and salad at side, it was awesome 🤩 it was great 😊 I mean, it’s worth the try honestly and frankly speaking from my opinion, it was the experience and make sure that this item is still not in permanent menu card, they have this till September end, so anyone going post September end, you may not get it, because it is an food festival item, in which they have in separate temporary menu which is available on the table. Although I requested them to make it permanent on the menu, which was absolutely tasty 🤤 and fantastic, and even tried masala chaas, it was refreshing and light to beat the heat or having such a hot food, it was great.

Had some kebab cravings so tried this place. Food was decent tried their combo tikka &chicken fry with their soft rumali rotis. Taste was nice but nothing like very special, service was quick and good, chicken fry was a tawa gravy kind, it was very salty. After having the food thirst was like killing me.

I did enjoy their Achari Tikka and Tandoori, though. Their rolls are good as well. I wouldn't recommend it for a family dine-in as it has no seating or parking space. Hey there! I’ve been a regular here before, and this time, I decided to give the make-your-own wok a try. I loved the idea of customising it and ticking all the boxes while ordering. At first, it was a bit too salty, but they made it better for me. The green mojito was okay, but the brownie was absolutely delicious! I could have easily eaten two or three more. The service was super quick and friendly. The place is clean and hygienic, and you can see right through the kitchen. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, but it’s just right. I’ll definitely be back!

Visited this place on 25 Oct Taste: I would say average, ordered Bao , Dumblings and Make your own noodles. Bao and Dumplings are good and noodle was so bad we couldn’t complete. Quantity is relatively less for the price. Service: Pricing is on higher side, dishes don’t feel value for the cost it has. Area is self served, No free drinking water served. Ambience is neat and clean. Cooking place was displayed transparent and it was pretty neat. One time Eatable 👍🏻

I go to noodle theory a lot, and absolutely adore the food and ambience! I love their tempura sushi and their playlist is amazing!! i come here all the time with my friends and family, and it’s truly a great place- but a recent encounter urged me to write this review. recently, i went to noodle theory on a very crowded night, and there was a long queue so we waited outside after adding our name to the waitlist to be seated. Outside, there were 2 girls in front of us, and a family behind us. once the 2 girls had been seated, we went inside to check if our turn had come- since no one had come to update us for the past 10-15 minutes. we saw an empty table, and thus sat down as we assumed it was our turn after the 2 girls. Unfortunately, a few minutes later we hear the owner yelling at us from across the room to get up, he said and I quote that ‘I will not serve your table’ as he had not seated us. Now while I agree that we should’ve waited to be seated, the mode of communication was very impolite and I think that the staff should’ve approached us personally and explained the situation. They then proceeded to make us get up and give our table to the family who came after us. I do agree that we should’ve waited to be seated, but the owner yelling at us from across the room in that way was very impolite and not the way he should’ve treated us, whether or not we waited to be seated- and this could’ve been handled more efficiently in a diplomatic way, keeping customer service in mind. It was sad to see this happen because I truly adore the food and this place overall- definitely one of my favourites; but service should be better.

Vegetarian Dim Sum The vegetarian dim sum at Noodle Theory was a delightful treat. Each piece was beautifully crafted, offering a variety of vibrant colors and flavors. The fillings were fresh and flavorful, and the accompanying sauces added an extra layer of taste that complemented the dim sum perfectly. The presentation was impressive, making it a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Spicy Paneer Dish The spicy paneer dish was equally satisfying. The paneer cubes were cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The dish was well-seasoned, with a spicy and tangy sauce that had just the right amount of heat. The addition of fresh vegetables and garnishes added a nice crunch and freshness to the dish. Overall, both dishes were delicious and showcased the culinary skills and attention to detail at Noodle Theory.

I ordered lotus stem in my noodles, and was initially told it would be added. However, when my order arrived, the lotus stem was missing. On confronting the staff, I was informed that lotus stem was out of stock. No reduction in price or any compensation was offered, and I was told nothing could be done about it. This was disappointing and reflects poorly on the service. Despite this, I must say the food itself is excellent. I hope the service is improved to match the quality of the food, because it's otherwise a standout experience.

Decent taste, felt overpriced for it , when compared to the taste &price of rameshwaram tiffins, varalaxmi tiffins& chennapatnam tiffns etc which are in hyd , overall decent experience

Murugan Idli truly captures the authentic taste of a traditional South Indian breakfast spread. The podi idli was outstanding, perfectly spiced and flavorful, while the paneer uthappam was soft and delicious. I especially appreciated the variety of four chutneys – each one unique and absolutely marvelous. The sambar idli was pure heaven, and the tea was decent to round off the meal. Prices are reasonable considering the quality and authenticity of the food. A must-visit for anyone craving real South Indian flavors!

Do try their karuveppila podi idli, garlic podi idli & onion podi uthappam. The sambar & chutneys were fantastic, heaven on earth for chutney lovers. For some reason they don't list the garlic podi & karuveppilai podi idlis on their menu, saw a photo of it on someone else's review and asked if it was available and then ordered it, maybe it's famous enough to not even have to be printed on the menu. 100% recommended 👌

Decent food served with 4 varieties of chutneys and sambar . Their Jigarthand is good for it's price and overhyped. Staff is polite and friendly.

Murugan Idli Shop is a must-visit for authentic South Indian food in Chennai! Atmosphere was not my type but I liked the food and service the dosa tasted incredible I think they should change the name Murugan dosa instead

Crispy Bajji and vadai is super. Ended with there coconut sweet pyssum kind of drink, it was like cherry on cake.

Ordered chilli bajji and madala poori. Vhilli bajji was very spicy, the coated masala was spicy. Got a raw chilli powder taste in masala poori. Photo says its greenpeas masala poori in swiggy. But actually it was channa. It was too spicy, even chutney was spicy. Got burning sensation in the mouth after eating.. please reduce spice..

One of the most famous and happening spots around Triplicane! Known for their wide variety of snacks, this place attracts people from all over the city. On my couple of visits, I’ve tried their Bhajji, Samosa, Kachori, Bhel Puri, and Cutlets — all made to perfection with subtle flavours. Loved their menu and the hot, piping snacks. From readymade pastes to quick bites, it’s a one-stop place to taste all the flavours in the spectrum. They serve good variety of snacks. A very cramped place but the owner is trying to keep the customers as cozy as possible. They serve freshly made vadai's and bajji.

I visited this place on recommendation and its worth. The snacks the you get here is authentic..You get a feel like you are somewhere in a circle surrounded by brahmins. It's a very small outlet where they have 3 side wall mounted table.It can accompany maximum of 10 persons. Taste- I would give 4/5 I had different types of Bajjis, Masala bread bajji was the best out of all. Vaazha ilai kolukattai is just perfect as I expect, less outer layer Maavu(I don't know how you call in English), and correct level of stuff inside.Not too sweet. Coffee was okay as triplicane is famous for filter coffees.so no wonder. Pricing- Every bajji starts with 12Rs.which seems to be a bit high for each dish. Masala bread bajji costs 25Rs which us worth for the food we get. So 3/5 Parking is bugh headache here.We hardly get 2 wheeler parking as the outlet is always crowded.If you are traveling by car ,then be ready to walk a mile or don't visit.Bcoz the outlet is located in a congested street.

This place is super crowded always so much so that they have a token system always and they also serve juice to the people who wait. Ambience is very nice and good. I started with their ghee Pudi Dosa. Thin and crispy. Their variety of chutney is very thick and nice. Totally loved it. South Veg meals came with rice , papad , 2-3 veggies , sambar which was crazy and nice and some kheer. They also served a palak poori which was good. The north indian meals are considered more famous. Ended with their Geetham Special Falooda which was very good filled with nuts , figs and a lot of dry fruits but it's definitely not worth 360 bucks !!! Fine for a one time visit as I felt the place is over hyped and way tooo expensive.

Hotel Ambience offers a pleasant dining experience. The service was good and quick. Tried their mini tiffin — it’s definitely value for money with a decent variety. The taste was okay overall, and the rava dosa was just fine. A good option for a simple, budget-friendly meal

Visited on a weekday for lunch and the place was quite packed. However, we got a table quickly. Their curd rice is tooooo good. It has small onions and they serve it with maavadu. They also give some thovayal on request. This dish is heavenly. Honey chilly potato tasted okayish, with a slight sweet domination. Ghee roast was really nice.

Had a quick lunch at this place today. It was pretty crowded quite warm inside because of the crowd, the weather outside, and they kept the door open all the time! I had tomato soup which was quite good. Puri with potatoes and kurma was ok. Chikku lassi was pretty tasty. Service was good.

Geetham Restaurant located at T Nagar Chennai. Place is crowded always but we got table within 5 mins. We ordered below mentioned dishes: Paneer Pav Bhaji Ghee masala dosa Bajji Filter Tea Muskmelon juice All the food and drinks wer delicious, it was worth for every penny spend .

I went to Geethan Veg Restaurant in T. Nagar for lunch and it was quite busy, so there was a waiting queue. They’ve introduced a new system where you scan a QR code to join the queue — it worked smoothly and was quite convenient. Once I got in, it was a bit crowded and I couldn’t immediately find my table number shown on the screen, but I managed to settle in after a few minutes. A staff member came over about 5 minutes later. I asked for “variety rice,” and he said only “lunch” was available — which I later realized meant meals. He then asked if I wanted South Indian or Executive meals. I chose Executive, though he didn’t really explain the difference. The food arrived fairly quickly and tasted really good — simple, well-balanced, and flavorful. The service was attentive; the waiter checked in often and made sure I had everything I needed. Even the water service was excellent. At the end, they served mouth freshener at the table, which was a nice touch. The total came to ₹221 for the South Indian Executive Meals, which I felt was worth it for the quality and experience. Overall, good food, decent service, and a neat new queue system — just wish the staff gave a bit more clarity on menu options.
