It can be a nice place for a walk by the sea. But there isn’t much shade. It’s very open to the sun which typically shines right in front throughout the day. There are just patches of grass. It could be improved greatly. Also, be aware of people trying to sell you something or asking you for money. It seems to be quite common in this area.

Visited again in the month of November first week. Evening sky look great with sea breeze. The beach is clean and beautiful. Lot of kites on the sky and pleasant to watch. The green grass gone and could see sand everywhere and not sure why no green these days. I could see waves are too close now a days due to the artificial land created inside the sea by Chinese called Colombo Port City. I feel another decade the water will invade to Galle Road and nearby hotels. Few years back there mobile was eatery shops on beach side now shifted to newly built permanent shops about 10’-0 down from ground level so one can see the sea & waves from anywhere in the road side sit out. Nice planning by Colombo Municipal ( hope other cities can follow this in coming years )

Once a hospital built by the Dutch (believed to be the oldest building in the Colombo fort area) it's a gorgeous, old building complex with restaurants, souvenir stores and other shops. The building feels like a time capsule stuck amidst high rises and modern buildings, and is well maintained so that people can enjoy this bit of history even today.

The collection of sculptures is incredible, with so much history and detail to see. Watching the people quietly praying added to the powerful and peaceful atmosphere. Don Bastian de Silva Jayasuriya Goonewardane, a 19th-century shipping merchant who was seeking suitable land to build a temple for the Matara Sri Dharmarama thero, bought a beautiful tract belonging to three Moors, and filled and prepared the land at great expense. The land was bordered on two sides by the Moragoda Ela and the Pettigala Ela was used to build the temple, which was subsequently named the Padawthota Gangaramaya Viharaya. The Mudaliyar, with the assistance of the people built a great 'Chaitya' (Dagaba) of 30 Riyans, and built a great decorative arch (thorana) and a 'Sandakada pahana' modeled on the ones found at Anuradhapura, at the entrance to the temple. A 'Bo' sapling brought from the great Sri Maha Bhodiya in Anuradhapura, was planted with his own hands and nurtured. He also built a three-storied preaching hall, walls, railings and the moat around the temple.

This place holds a lot of political significance and till today whatever political victories happen, the signing of documents are done here in memory of the independence Square. There's a museum too which is on one side of the structure. It is packed with history. One must definitely check it out in Colombo.

Really nice place to get a glimpse of local life and see how people in the city go about their day. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk or some light exercise — super calm and relaxing all around. You can really feel the history of the place too, which makes it even more special. Definitely recommend coming around sunset, the view and atmosphere are just amazing!

It’s a really quiet place to sit and relax. They won’t allow to take pictures of the statues and stuffs, but you can take pictures of you inside the hall. And when I sit and relax for a while then tried to read a book, they said something in Sinhala like I shouldn’t read there or anything, I was confused and had to leave. Anyway the place was amazing.

The independence memorial hall built to commemorate the country's independence from British control on 4 Feb 1948. The design is influenced by the ancient architecture of the Kandyan era. Not being properly maintained. Lighting at night is not up to the standards of similar national monuments. Apparently there's no freedom or liberty to the visitors as per the numerous notices displayed throughout the premises (which destroys the beauty and historical value of the place). No close by toilets, cafes or souvenir shops. This place needs to be maintained well, nicely lit up and opened 24 hours without manned by security (CCTV would do). Being a tourism oriented country, the authorities need to consider taking a more liberal and progressive approach in managing these places of national significance and are tourist attractions.

When I visited the square, it was not very crowded during the weekday. There are guards always on the premises who do not let you take selfies with selfie sticks or any other professional equipment. I don’t know why, but they denied me such a photo opportunity. The square has national monument in the form of the building and a monument to the nations father. There is a pool and a water fountain nearby. parking is also available. What I have not found is the toilet. In general, finding public restrooms in Colombo is a challenge.

Bally’s Casino was an interesting experience. The games and atmosphere were lively, but coming from Canada, it felt strange to see people smoking indoors. The air was quite smoky, which took some getting used to. The experience would have been nicer if the employees were a bit more welcoming. Overall, it was okay :)

My only critique would be that the air can get a bit smoky, which might bother some visitors, and I wish there were more slot machine options for casual players. Its not sri lankan friendly and i was charged an entrace fee of Rs.15,000/- and they said that is redeamable. However the coilns i recived was 3 x 5,000/- and it was not allowed on the ruleatte table and whatever you will they do not give what you won and that time they will change it to the normal chips.. scam. Do not get caught for that. They do serve food and drinks but they watch how much you loose.. 🤭 more you loose more drinke you get. Fair enough as there's nothing comes free.

They have a good zoological and botanical section which they'll exhibit for Universitites and Schools only on request. They have a small, well equipped auditorium for events as well. The director is a very polite and understanding officer. The museum doesn't display all the cultures and traditions celebrated in Srilanka as most of the treasures have been stolen during the colonial period.

This is the main park in Colombo. Security is high, but we can freely walk around, and parking is free, though limited. On a sunny day, staying under the shade is a great comfort. On holidays, people come for picnics, but the park seems to be more popular among Muslims than other ethnic groups. A bike rental facility is also available. they have horse ride,.horse carriage riding which was around 200 per person. And they also had paddle boats for 100/=per person. It was a fun experience. Perfect place for walking or jogging. Amazing atmosphere. They also a small place with gym equipment for anyone who wants to come and work out

This park is truly beautiful and peaceful. Spending 30 minutes to an hour walking around, relaxing, and enjoying the scenery is highly recommended. Be sure to check out the two statues in the park — and take a moment to read about their history beforehand to enrich your experience.

It's a big, green, peaceful space right in the city's heart - perfect for a chill walk or just relaxing under the trees. The park is clean and well-maintained, with many shady spots, walking paths, and benches. There's a cool golden Buddha statue at one end and the Town Hall building right across the road, so it's a nice little area to explore. Families, joggers, and some street vendors were around, but it wasn't crowded. You might catch some local events or kids playing cricket if you're lucky.

Big and beautiful park at the centre of the city. Neat and clean, well maintained with cycle tracks, walking tracks, open gym, huts to relax, pond, police post etc. good place for morning and evening walks, relaxing with family and friends.

Very nice atmosphere and the staff was supportive and friendly. Food was average but presentation was on point . Mango cheese cake was awesome. Yet be careful about the tax ant the end of the menu . Not an expert on how taxation works on these f & b scopes yet expect a huge tax amount added to your bill. Apart from that concern , good place .

Great place to enjoy the sunset with a 180 degree view over Galle Green and the harbor. Cocktails and service were great! Happy Hour from 5-9pm (1+1 drink). Amaretto sour was delicious with a hint of ceylon cinnamon.

Only found this place on our last evening in Colombo. Fantastic evening sitting outside in the Sky Lounge. Happy hour 5-7. Seafood sharing platter, best I’ve ever had. Excellent mojitos!

Sunset cocktails here are great! From 5-7pm they do 2-4-1 happy hour drinks and they had a great live band too. We didn’t have time to grab food but the menu looks good. Mahesh and his team did a great job with our group of 12. Will be back for their Halloween event tomorrow!

Colombo Floating Market is a vibrant and busy shopping spot located right in the heart of the city. The place is usually full of people, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. You can buy almost anything here—from clothes, shoes, and accessories to street food, local snacks, and even electronics. The market is beautifully set along the lake, which adds a unique charm to the experience. It's a great mix of local culture, affordable shopping, and urban street life. Though it can get a bit crowded at times, especially in the evenings and weekends, it's still worth visiting for the variety and vibe. Perfect for tourists and locals who love a bit of adventure while shopping!

Floating market is all hype. There is nothing necessary you have to buy or will catch your interest. I don't know why everyone suggests it. But trust me its nothing like a local market. But the place itself is quite beautiful. You can see in the pictures. There is a small lake with green water. And beautifully organized shops inside the market. Its a good place to hangout or goofing around with friends.

This place lies in ruins with most of the shops closed and few remaining struggling to survive. It could be developed into a nice tourist place with little upgradation, proper management and promotions.

It had a classy rooftop bar atmosphere. And the service is top notch. Relatively cheaper without compromising the quality. The pool adds an excellent vibe. You can see the sea at one side and the Colombo cityscape from another. Overall a great experience.

We stayed at Radisson hotel in Colombo, where this lounge is located on the rooftop! Loved the vibes and the view here! When we visited here, there was DJ night going on here! Honestly we didn't eat anything,as we are in the hotel downstairs, but I did see people enjoying their food and drinks!! There is a pool also here,so you get a view of that too! There is an indoor dining area and an outdoor lounge area!

The atmosphere is lively but still comfortable, making it a great spot to chill with friends. Drinks and food are reasonably priced, so you don’t feel like you’re overspending. It is a striking architectural landmark and one of the city’s most iconic attractions. It is easily accessible and very well maintained, offering an impressive sight with its unique red-and-white pattern. If the surroundings had been planned differently it was good. Since it is tightly packed amidst shopping centers and busy streets, the full beauty of the mosque is difficult to appreciate from all sides. If the area around it had been left more open, the view would have been even more majestic.

A truly beautiful and historic architectural building in the heart of Pettah, Colombo. This was built in 1908 by Indian craftsmen and whats unique is the red-and-white candy-striped design. Visitors have a separate entrance, and there’s no entry fee. Inside, there is a free guided tour by staff (note that outside guides are not allowed). Be sure to dress modestly — ladies are provided with a gown at the entrance and everyone needs to remove their shoes or slippers before entering. A shoe rack is available for convenience. There are six floors and if you make it to the rooftop, you’ll be treated to a great view of Colombo’s skyline, including cargo ships at the port and the Nelum Kuluna Tower in the distance. A peaceful and respectful place to visit, rich in culture and history — definitely worth a stop if you’re exploring Colombo!

This is one stunning mosque that was apparently the first one in Sri Lanka. We were late so couldn't go inside the mosque but the outside itself is so pretty that I'm more than sire that the inside too is lovely. If you're coming to Colombo, do give this place a visit. The architecture is beautiful and the red and white alternating pattern makes it just wow.

I visited Barefoot Garden Café in Colombo, and it was honestly one of the best café experiences I’ve had — a true 10/10! I ordered the lamb burger with yogurt and mint, which was perfectly seasoned and so satisfying. The spinach quiche was equally delicious, and the crème brûlée was just divine — rich with the perfect touch of sweetness. What made me especially happy was finding milk tea served with condensed milk — something so rare these days, and it felt like home ❤️ The service was friendly and helpful. It took a little effort to get attention at first, but once I did, the staff gave great recommendations and were happy to find replacements or offer solutions when asked. The ambience was calm and welcoming. The café is part of the larger Barefoot brand, which includes a boutique selling beautiful souvenirs, clothing, and even a bookshop — all high-quality products at fair prices. Some might find it slightly expensive, but the quality truly justifies the cost. The nearby toilet was also clean and well-equipped, which I appreciated. We ate here twice and couldn’t fault the quality of the food, it was some of the freshest we had had across Sri Lanka and it was great to get generous portions of grilled meat and vegetables within the dishes. The food is on the more expensive side compared to other cafe’s, but warranted.

I really enjoyed my visit — the atmosphere is calm and relaxing, surrounded by greenery and lovely décor. It is a small man made lake with a temple and meditation place. There is a ticket for foreign travellors with LKR 400 per adult. This ticket can be used in Gangaramaya temple as well. You can cover this place along with Gangaramya tempe as they are just a road apart

A wonderful green space and water feature with plenty of wildlife. A great place for an early morning walk to enjoy the sights. Wonderful place for kids to see the animals around the lake and enjoy a ride on a swan. The temple and small island with the bridge walkway are enjoyable. I think the city could do more in terms of better maintenance, repairing the walk ways. My hat off and thanks to the wonderful ladies who are busy cleaning in the mornings. Thank you! The Beira Lake is a lake which is situated in the center of Colombo City. It is surrounded by many large businesses in the city. The lake was built by the Portuguese in order to protect Colombo from enemies, especially local kings. The lake gets an inflow of water from the Kelani River and flows out to the Indian Ocean. The lake area includes a park which has swan boat rides, a suspension bridge with a small island in the middle of the lake. It is a great place to spend some quality time relaxing in serenity, especially in the evening. It is home to the Seema Malaka Temple and is located close to The Gangaramaya Temple.

This lake in Colombo is a really nice spot, both for the temple on the water and for the lovely ride on swan boats. You can rent one for 30 minuts and pedal on the water among many smily local people. The atmosphere is great and you will get a nice view of the city buildings surrounding the lake.

There is a passenger boat service from Union Place to Colombo Fort implemented as a solution to ease the traffic congestion. Passengers could use the service free-of-charge. This service is operated by the Sri Lanka Navy. It is possible to travel from Colombo Fort to Union Place in less than 15 minutes.

The Beira lake is situated in the heart of Colombo. Surrounded by sky rise apartments and malls, its just a lovely lake to walk around. There is a little bridge that you can take to walk over into the center and benches to sit and unwind. The walk around the lake is a good 2 km so its perfect for an evening run. There are also little peddle boats that you can rent and use in the lake. The Buddhist Temple is also accessible from here and makes a great visiting spot for tourists.

Great place. 30 stories up, and gives you full view of colombo. Some parts of Kandy, Sigiria and much more. View is breathtaking, def recommend a visit if you have time in Colombo.. Ticket might be slightly higher for tourists. It costed 6100 rupees per person.

It's very nice place to see around the Colombo. Like a view point. Night view is very lovely. Once you finish the view point then after you can watch some historical things in large screen and some enjoyable things also. You can enjoy the meals also.

One of the highlights of the city is the Lotus Tower. Entry fee for foreigner is USD 25 per person to go to higher decks, while you can enjoy the souvenier shop on the ground floor. Since we were short of time and had to reach the airport, we dint go up in the viewing deck, am sure the views would be stunning. There is a revolving restaurant at the top as well, which requires prior booking. You can click pictures from the ground floor, without any cost.

The Lotus Tower is one of the most beautiful landmarks in Colombo. The city view from the top is absolutely stunning, especially at night when the tower lights up in different colors. The place is clean and well-maintained, and the fast elevator makes the ride enjoyable. However, during weekends or holidays, it can get quite crowded, and the waiting time is a bit long. Also, the ticket price feels a little high for foreigners. Overall, it’s a great place to visit at least once for the amazing view and unique experience. 🌸🇱🇰

So all around the world we can see famous towers . For represent our motherland we have Colombo lotus Tower which is located in the capital city of Sri Lanka . it's a National symbol for "The Pearl of South Asia" First you need to get the ticket for enter to the tower. It's only 500 lkr For locals and 200lkr for children (2024 may) the main part of this Tower is observation deck which is in 7th floor. There you can see the 360 view of whole Colombo town,

Since the day they opened, they’ve stayed true to their concept and branding, which I really admire. The menu has something for everyone, including vegans, and the variety is impressive. The staff is friendly, service is good, and the food is consistently tasty. From their current menu, I have to say the mango pancakes are an absolute favorite of mine — highly recommended! It’s definitely a place I’d love to visit again and again. One small suggestion for the management: the outdoor seating area tends to attract a few mosquitoes and flies. Maybe adding some bug-repellent plants could help make it even more enjoyable. Other than that, everything is spot on.

Highly recommended Cafe Kumbuk 🤗 Ten of us had a wonderful breakfast experience at this cozy cafe. Starting from making the reservation to, finding us parking spots to, serving good food to our oveall experience was very good. They have decent spread of food covering meat lovers, Vegans, Vegetarians. Tasty food, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Look a like they are very busy on weekends, better to make a reservation in advance.

food was okay, we got this pineapple rice dessert and it was really good but the pineapple on top did not do any good. we got pancake and it was burnt on the bottom but they made sure to get us a new pancake set and their customer service was above and beyond. i also got the banana matcha and it was okay. but overall really liked their customer service, they were so nice.

What a great little hideaway. I had a great lunch/coffee. Raj waited on me and provided an excellent recommendation when I asked for something unique and refreshing. The island cooler he brought me was perfect for the warm afternoon. The coffee here was also very good. I was looking for a quality afternoon coffee after a very weak coffee at breakfast and Cafe Kumbuk delivered with a top notch flat white. Highly recommend.

Excellent and tasty food using local fresh ingredients, thoughtfully presented. Served with a smile in a delightful plant-filled courtyard setting. We got the savoury croffle (with pork) and the Kumbuk breakfast board which had a selection of delicious treats including avocado toast, granola with fruit and an orange turmeric shot.

Amazing place! 😍 I enjoyed the night to the maximum. The cocktails are good and if you feel like they are not strong enough for you they will be very generous. The strongest cocktail I have ever had in my life is the vodka- canberry juice cocktail I had here Food taste so good. Especially their beef items. So tender and so juicy. But to be honest I didn't like the prawns much because I think the freshness was gone by the time they started cooking them. But overall quality of food is very very good. And the place! Oh I love it. You can see the metropolitan Colombo with a great view from this place. (Please see the photos.) And it looked so beautiful with all those night lights. I bet this view looks so good when the sun sets too. Perfect for a birthday celebration or a casual night out. The staff is helpful and treated with wide smiles. Really impressed with this place..

Lovely spot. Service was good but the food didnt amaze us as we wished it would. With only a few mains options we thought they'd be well worth the amount we paid for, but it was slightly disappointing. The drinks however much better than the food & they were reasonably priced. Overall we had a good time but perhaps they could master their menu.

The atmosphere is very nice. Decent selection of beverages. However food portions are rather small for the hungry customer. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor. However, indoor is not truly indoor since the bar is open to outside. The AC didn't really work well enough too.

When it comes to fine dining I’ve had many food adventures of my own. But one thing exactly enjoyed is non other than “Botanik” which made me believe it’s almost heaven. I would say this place was more than expectations. 👌🙂

Has a decent view of the Colombo skyline. The cocktails are sad. They are very watered down. It would be advisable for the management to get on board experienced bar men who can create good cocktails instead of the juniors who are manning the bars. The food servings are relatively small when compared to the price charged. They have a live band, which is at times a case of hit or miss, but overall OK.

This area desperately needed a shopping mall and somewhere calm to have a walk. Independence Arcade is a place no one has ever expected. This shopping mall is one of a kind and serves everyone. I remember we went to the place as broke university students and had a good time and after 8 years going to this place to have a good time with having some money in my pocket. Unique and beautiful.

There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafés around, so you can easily spend a few hours just walking around, trying some food, or doing a bit of shopping. The place is also great for photography — both during the day and at night. The lighting, architecture, and open spaces make it perfect for taking pictures, whether you’re into portraits or just want some scenic shots. It’s clean, well-maintained, and has a nice open area to sit and relax. It’s a lovely spot for hanging out with friends, having a quiet meal, or simply enjoying the surroundings. Arcade Independence Square has really stepped up recently! Now they have amazing street food stalls with so many options to try, plus modernized pubs that are calm and quiet – perfect for relaxing with friends. The live music adds a great vibe without being too loud. One of the coolest new things is that you can even play pickleball there! It costs about 4000 rupees per hour, and it’s totally worth it for the experience. Overall, it’s a great place to hang out, eat, and enjoy a nice evening. Highly recommend visiting if you haven’t been in a while!

Excel world was excellent 👌👍. For adults and kids. The kids enjoyed all the playing area outside and the snow world was a great experience for both adults and kids. Bowling, gaming and restaurant area was really good. Clean, near and very well maintained restaurants. Nice collection of items in the food menue and nicely served in hot fresh condition. And it's worth the price. The range of kids meals were good as it gives a good quality and quantity for little ones. Rice and beverages were nicely presented. We spent almost spend a whole day out at the entertainment park with kids. Great place to enjoy with family, friends and with young couples. There's a great range if entertaining activities for adults and young adults as well. The snow world was entirely a great experience not forgetting the great DJ , it was awesome and fantastic for all age groups. And the cost for each activities are reasonable and there's enough park. But we visited the peak hours and almost ran out of parking even though there was a huge area to park. I would recommend it as a good day out to enjoy with love ones once in a while.

But honestly, the rest of Excel World feels outdated — it looks almost the same as it did 4 years ago. The bowling alley is the only thing worth the hype, still fun and enjoyable. Overall, the place really needs a bit of freshening up to bring it back to life.

They’ve got a number indoor and outdoor games for all ages but not at all managed and maintained well. The kids adventure area had only a few rides with poor lighting. Snow world was a huge scam, the price was high, we couldn’t really enjoy well as they’d jammed a huge crowd at a time and it wasn’t snow, huge ice cubes which really would hurt everyone. One good thing I was fascinated about was the food and drink options, there were plenty of stalls in and around the park. Wouldn’t be going again.

Excel world is a blast from the past. They have done the dining area up nicely but the arcade is a hall of relics, half of which are broken down. Still I like the laid back pace of things there, it’s not as flashy and overstimulating as new places. The bowling alley has an old section where half the lanes are closed, and the new side has digital screens and is more modern. They have added a shooting range and archery area too but they are very makeshift, tiny spaces. Overall the place could do with an upgrade, it’s so old and tired. Appreciate that the prices are moderate and not as inflated as most other places.

This place looks pretty peaceful, but unfortunately the bridge was closed and it was in rough shape as well, which is a reoccurring problem within a lot of the facilities in Sri Lanka. Hopefully this and many other good places to visit and spend time in our renovated in the very near future.

Gangaramaya Park is a lovely little spot if you’re in the area. It’s a peaceful place for a stroll around the pond, with plenty of shade and a relaxing vibe. We especially enjoyed watching the pelicans—there were so many of them, and my son was completely enamored. It’s not necessarily a must-see if you’re short on time, but if you’re already nearby—like visiting Colombo City Centre—it’s definitely worth a quick stop to unwind and enjoy a bit of nature in the city.

Gangaramaya Park, conveniently situated in the city center and within walking distance from Gangaramaya Temple, offers a pleasant stroll around its serene lake. The scenic views of the Lotus Tower add to the charm of the experience, making it a perfect spot for a morning walk.

It is a nice place, but I rated it 3 stars only because nothing to do much here. It only took me a few minutes to finish walking around and yet, I still needed to buy a ticket to enter. The view is incredible, the lake view and skyline....You need to get your phone ready!! I clicked many.

In between the busy Colombo located this park near gangarama temple. Very attractive place but the small one . In the lake Board riding also there I think ticket also not much costly . The Bull Frog cocktails are simply delicious. What you should really try is the chicken sausages, they are so soft you think you are in heaven! In the weekends they even have a live band performing. Staff is so friendly you never want to leave.

The place is in a nice place in Colombo. The balcony we dined at faced the Colombo Cricket Club grounds. Nice sunset from there. The margarita flavoured and the Mojito was hreat too. A good place for a Night life entertainment. Rs 2000 is charged for male entries and it can be redeemed. Friday nights are crowded and they have good bouncers allocated to avoid conflicts within participants. Open area together with inside dance floor is availabile. A DJ and a Band will play preferably by the management.

Amazing piece from the past of the colombo, looking over the city itself now. Highly recommended to visit this historic landmark in the evening because it is so calming. Specially during the sunset. This lighthouse is not that tall for a lighthouse. This is more like a space here with unique sri lankan statues and architectural elements thrown around here. Wouldn’t recommend to go to this place middle of the day because there is nothing else to see around and the stones of this place will be scorching hot and won’t be walkable.

Built after independence, Gall buck lighthouse showcases a blend of post independent and traditional architecture.The lighthouse once offered quite magnificent views of the Indian ocean from its considerably higher base which was obscured due to recent land reclamations of the port city.The base once used to perform 21 gun salute on the independence day but not anymore . Yet it offers quite a decent experience to visitors even now.

It might have been a great place to visit in the past because of its historical significance and the view that it had on the Indian Ocean, but the Colombo Port Old Lighthouse has lost most of its appeal when the failed development of Port City blocked the view. It's worth a quick visit if you happen to be in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't recommend a special trip just to see it.

Well maintained lighthouse. Perhaps the only intact lighthouse in Colombo city open to public. Good for a short visit if you are nearby. Built in a 1950s, this place, used to be a nice scenic spir with a beach view and harbour view. But now after they built the port city by filling the sea its landlocked. Lost most of its beauty and appeal. Beacuse its a Navy controlled premises, there are couple of armed security personal present. They will observe you, but wont bother you. Its worth a visit anytime, kids love seeing a actual lighthouse.

Rhythm and Blues is a fantastic spot for an after-party! The best time to enter is around midnight, and the party keeps going strong until 4 AM. We were lucky to get in by about 12:30, and the DJ was phenomenal, playing great music that kept everyone on their feet. The cocktails and drinks are reasonably priced, which is always a plus. The crowd was diverse, with a steady flow of people coming in, creating an energetic and lively atmosphere. It’s not a place with a set crowd, which adds to the fun and spontaneity of the night. Definitely a must-visit if you’re looking for a vibrant nightlife experience!

The atmosphere and vibe was very cool. Once you get in there you will be able to find a super exciting chill vibe there. The pub will be placed at the center. The DJ and the dancing area has much space and you will be able to get a lot of vibe and heat there.

Once inside, brace yourself for sky-high prices: Rs. 11,352/- for two regular Bullfrog glasses and Rs. 3,980/- for two Heineken beer bottles. At these prices, you might think you’ve walked into a luxury lounge, but spoiler alert—you haven’t. Got your drink? Great. Now don’t even think about taking it to the dance floor. The bouncers are there to enforce the strict “no drinks allowed” rule. Their house, their rules. If you’re hoping to pick up a girl, well, let’s just say the odds are not in your favor. The dance floor is dotted with plenty of lonely guys nursing beers and wishing for better luck. The smart move? Eat and drink somewhere nice before coming here. The music is decent, the DJ is tolerable (likely improved by whatever you’ve already consumed), and the lights and atmosphere are inviting enough. But prepare for the overpowering smell of smoke machines—annoying to say the least. Overall, this place is tolerable if you’re arriving after midnight, already drunk, and with your partner (I did went there with my wife). Otherwise, it’s overpriced, overregulated, and underwhelming. Choose wisely before you shell out.

In this case, the lack of courtesy, respect, and professionalism was glaring and unacceptable for an establishment positioning itself as a premier nightlife venue. This is not simply a matter of guest comfort; it is an issue of brand integrity and operational excellence. R&B would do well to urgently review its recruitment and training protocols for security staff, prioritising candidates who understand that firmness and respect are not mutually exclusive. A high-profile venue deserves security professionals who can maintain safety without compromising on dignity and customer relations. Until such changes are made, even the best music and ambiance risk being overshadowed by the unprofessional gatekeeping at the door.

It was empty when we went. The food menu is very limited, but the taste was decent. We did not have much interaction with the staff and left soon.

We went on a Thursday for ladies night and enjoyed the free cocktails. Danced the night away, the DJ was awesome. Staff keeps watch to make sure everyone is safe. We were three girls unchaperoned and had unwanted attention from men but nothing seriously damaging. So much better than most unsafe clubs.

This amazing restaurant lived up to all the hype. From when you arrive you are treated with a first class experience. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, and know the menu off by heart. The food is sensational. The prawns and crabs are delicious. My tip, don’t go for the heavily spiced or strongly flavoured sauces, and let the crab do the talking! Sitting in a 400 yo building, surrounded by history and eating top quality food is well worth the pricing! Enjoy!

We had such a wonderful dining experience at the Ministry of Crab! Before going, we were a little bit skeptical and worried it might just be another tourist trap, but we were pleasantly surprised. The service was outstanding—attentive to every details, anticipating our needs before we even asked, and offering helpful guidance on how to order. We tried only two dishes, the claypot curry and the chili garlic crab, but they were absolutely addictive. The sauces were so good that we couldn’t resist overindulging, especially with all the bread. In short, we really enjoyed our dinner and definitely worth a try when you are in town!

What a great dining experience at the Ministry of Crab. On arrival service and welcome by Dilanka was warm and welcoming. He explained the menu and guided us through our choices and sizes. The prompt ongoing service for drinks and wipes and extra touches to make our meal memorable were attended to. The entrees of prawns, clams, oysters were each amazing in presentation and flavour. We had three varieties of crab for our main as a group and each were different and delicious. The fleshy crabs were the best I have ever eaten and the body of flavour in the sauces were rich and delicious. The Sri Lankan bread and rice helped us enjoy the sauces and flavours. It was a beautiful meal experience. We rounded off with perfect macchiato coffees. If your budget can stretch this far, I highly recommend a meal here. Just remember to book as our lunch sitting was fully booked out.

While I fully respect this tradition, I highly recommend avoiding a visit during the hottest parts of the day. The stone flooring heats up quickly in the sun, and walking barefoot can be genuinely painful. It definitely took away from the experience for us. There isn’t a ton to do besides walking the grounds and snapping a few photos, so it’s more of a short visit—maybe 15 to 30 minutes. While the site is beautiful and culturally significant, I wouldn’t say it’s a must-see unless you’re already nearby or particularly interested in temples. Go early or late in the day for a more comfortable experience.

The staff is friendly, and the area is very clean and well-maintained. Located close to Gangaramaya Temple, it’s easy to visit both together. A must-visit place in Colombo for anyone who loves peaceful environments, architecture, and scenic beauty."

The old Parliament building is a very big historical building facing Galle Beach. They have a very big garden in front. It's quite close to One Galle Face mall. The area is quite quiet.

Being used as the main office of the incumbent President of Sri Lanka. It has been named as the Presidential Secretariat. Most of the meetings by the president are conducted there. Old Parliament premises is still in good condition and used for many events. Most of the schools which have school parliaments dream having at least one of sessions there. And people have also been facilitated to watch it as a historical monument.

The Neo-Baroque style of architecture and the garden around it that houses bronze statues of eminent statesmen, make for a beautiful, warm picture of substance. The grandeur and national importance of this building makes it the perfect venue for many state events. Since it is a high-security zone, it is always patrolled by the armed forces and entry for general public is prohibited. However, it is worth a visit, even from a distance.

A well maintained colonial era building

The In… on the Green Pub at Galle Face Hotel has a peaceful and relaxing ambiance, perfect for unwinding. The happy hours from 5:30 to 7:30 PM every day are a nice touch. However, the food was disappointing. We ordered the grilled pork with potato salad, but it lacked flavor and was quite underwhelming. On the bright side, the setting was great, and the atmosphere was cool and pleasant. Hopefully, the food quality improves to match the lovely location!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting “In on the Green,” and it was an experience worth sharing. The first thing that strikes you upon entering is the wonderful ambience and aesthetically pleasing decor. The place has a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for hangouts and social gatherings. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the stand-up comedy special. It was a refreshing and entertaining addition to the evening, and it’s great to see a venue offering such events. It adds a unique charm and keeps the patrons engaged and entertained. The food at “In on the Green” is truly a double-edged sword. On one hand, the taste is extraordinary. Every dish we tried was packed with flavors and beautifully presented. However, the portion sizes left much to be desired, especially considering the price. It would be wonderful if the management could revisit the portion sizes to ensure they provide better value for money. One area where the establishment could improve is in their billing. While the service charge is understandable, the addition of a heavy tax on the bill is a bit off-putting. It’s not common practice for all restaurants to charge taxes separately, and this feels like an unnecessary burden on the customers. It would be more customer-friendly if these charges were incorporated into the menu prices. In conclusion, “In on the Green” is a fantastic place with a lot to offer. The ambience, events, and food quality are commendable. If the portion sizes and billing practices are adjusted, it could elevate the experience even further. It’s definitely a place I would recommend for a fun night out, especially if you enjoy good food and live entertainment.

Nice, cosy place.Although we went to see the match, audio was not available. Drinks are reasonably priced. Yet food was nothing but ordinary. The portion is covered by over fried French fries. They have good deals for drinks.

Went in at happy hour. There was no prior information given to us about "government taxes" which was added to the bill to our surprise They added 10% service tax + 24% government taxes which we had no idea about. Upon enquiring,no one was able to show us any official/ government notice where it is mentioned that 24% government tax is mandatory. Very disappointed with the entire experience. Made us feel deceived. Would recommend to check with them about taxes prior to placing orders.

It a small cosy pub & has a old bar feeling. The best part here is the music, there's always some or the other live band playing & they are all so good. The cocktails were a bit of a disappointment but I liked the 'make your own drink' concept. The food's a little expensive here but it tastes fine.

One of my best loved cafes in Colombo. The interior and the details are spot on. Cozy little gem of a place serving a variety of drinks and food. A lot of foreigners milling in and out of this cafe. They serve a welcome drink in a tiny mug, which is very thoughtful. I was mind-blown by the mungo strawberry drink today. They’ve used flavored black tea with mango pulp & chucks of strawberry to curate the drink, it was truly refreshing with very very minimal sugar. The spicy chicken crepe was great too, the flavors were on point albeit would have loved more stuffing in the crepe. Staffs are quite friendly and welcoming feedbacks. Very cozy little outlet. Definitely my go to spot every-time I need some me time. Prices are slightly on the higher side plus the VAT and tax is heavy on the bill

I had the chance to visit T Lounge in Colombo and it was a truly unique experience. The variety of teas they offer is astonishing and each one feels carefully crafted. The tea experience itself was superb and the ambiance of the place makes it even more enjoyable. The service was a little slow start but picked up later . The food was also very good and paired well with the tea. The place itself is an experience and I’m glad I found this place . Plenty of variety to try their tea and I’d surely come back Overall, T Lounge is a wonderful spot to enjoy a relaxed tea experience. The atmosphere is warm, the tea selection is excellent, and the food is worth trying. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Colombo.

Dropped by t-Lounge by Dilmah and had their katsu chicken burger and Kandy Lamissi Iced tea – absolutely delicious! The portions was generous and definitely worth the price. The menu has a great spread with plenty of interesting options. Looking forward to my next visit!

Recently hosted a surprise high tea for my wife's birthday here. The staff were very helpful (Chamara) and flexible for a lot of my requests. The event went of very well and it was an overall very pleasant experience. Definitely will come back here again.

These iced teas were incredible. Honestly, they beat every tea or lemonade I’ve ever had in Europe. Perfectly balanced, super refreshing and full of flavor. If you’re even remotely into tea, don’t skip this place.

Excellent tea house. We were looked after by Dinojan and was an insightful visit as we also learnt about the history of Dilmah and were introduced to a delicious infusion of iced blueberry and clove tea. Would highly recommend when in the Dutch hospital area!!!

Whight & Co is a beloved cafe in Colombo, Sri Lanka, famous for its locally grown coffee. The cafe offers an array of beautifully presented coffee options and a menu featuring items like burger sliders, tamarind chilli prawns, and more. Previously located on Marine Drive, Whight & Co. has now moved to Alfred House Lane. I started visiting this place in October 2016 and quickly fell in love with their coffee and English breakfast. The food is excellent, and the staff is warm and welcoming, making it feel like a home away from home. Whenever I return to India, I always carry their coffee powder with me. I would be thrilled if they opened a branch in India. Some must-try items include their cold brew, avocado toast, and seafood dishes.

This was (note ‘was’) a place I enjoyed my daily coffee. (Flat white) I was proud to see local 100% Arabica being roasted and served. The baristas were very friendly, gave great service and knew the job. I love to support boutique businesses rather than big chains. Especially if it involves homegrown produce. The coffee is very good and I had plans to travel back with several Kgs of coffee beans. Then suddenly one day when I went for my usual Flat White, I got a very diluted coffee like a cappuccino. I knew it was a single shot of coffee and not two. When I asked the Barista if he forgot to put the second shot of espresso, very meekly he said “we’ve been told to put only one shot of espresso in the flat white”!! He was very apologetic and said he knew that a flat white is supposed to have 2 shots, but ‘management’ (lady owner) had specifically instructed them to put only one shot of espresso going forward!! Such a shame. Everything was perfect before ‘management’ interference. Secondly, ‘management’ is teaching the baristas to do the wrong thing? Insisting that a flat white should only have one shot? How terrible is that. Being ignorant is one thing, but to force your ignorance on knowledgable and experienced staff is a crime. What a shame. Owners - Your stubborn and ignorance lost a good customer and business.

It’s a small cafe with few tables. Their coffee is nice. But we bought 2 water bottles and it cost 990lkr. Price is mentioned on the bottle as 90lkr. Selling it to an absurd price. It’s just a normal water bottle and it’s absolutely ridiculous. Such a rip off! Also Wifi doesn’t work.

We used to visit your restaurent when it was on marine drive and enjoyed coffee and bfast very much and was disappointed notice it was no more .. we just happen to randomly find your new location odd duplication road and was turned off by the server as we had just ordered 3 amaricanos and a couple of cakes , but we were told by the server that there is a “problem” as they will closing be closing in 30 mts !!! Walked in causally on a Saturday evening. The place had a couple of guests, thats all. Good ambience. I believe they have dining on the first floor as well. They have high chairs too. They had a good tune running in the background. Staff were very helpful, courteous and pleasant mannered. The cost is ok, not that high. The food is good. I had the Crumbed Calamari with Wasabi Aioli and the Chicken Schnitzel Burger, along with a coffee milkshake. Overall the taste is good. The portion size is filling too.

Ordered the Pesto and chicken Bagel Burger and Vietnamese Iced coffee. The pesto sauce was drizzled in the plate and not inside of the burger which I was fine with since I'm not a pesto sauce fan. The presentation of the bagel burger was excellent. The burger overall was average. The Vietnamese Iced coffee was good but don't expect it to be similar to the authentic. The seating and ambience was chill and good place to hangout with friends and family. You have to self order and the waiters are friendly and good service. Came here with my friends for a hearty brunch and It absolutely did not disappoint. What we ordered was the beef benni, Pesto & Chicken bagel burger, butternut squash Roti stack with grilled mushroom and Red pepper hummus toast. For beverages we had the vietnamese coffee and the strawberry Matcha Among the main dishes the beef benni was absolutely delish. However if you want a safe option, the bagel is the choice. Regardless it's a Flavor bomb in your mouth. The drinks personally I enjoyed the matcha however the Vietnamese coffee with the a variety of spices really elevated the flavor. That's definitely recommended. Lastly the customer service was as expected. Polite, welcoming with a friendly atmosphere I would however like a minor update to the menu, that is to split the drinks menu where the chocolate and matcha options are together. Adding on Matcha chocolate would be a great addition to the menu.

Prices are on the higher side ($$$), but totally worth it for the quality. There's no air conditioning, but the natural ventilation works well enough to keep things comfortable. Overall, a 5-star spot for anyone who enjoys great food in a place with character.

The food there is out of this world. I loved the peanut rice noodles, so tangy and flavorful. Could have easily eaten three portions. Also their hojicha latte was great. Been there many times and it's the best coffee spot in Colombo. Very good and quality coffee, amazing and helpful staff (last time they helped me to set my grinder). Food is amazing - lots of vegetarian options which I appreciate, variety of sweet treats and you can buy the beans as well. Sometimes it's very crowded, especially on weekends, but I always found a spot to enjoy coffee here.

The only planetarium in Sri Lanka with dome projection is truly worth visiting at least once. It offers not only a unique experience but also great educational value. The visit includes around 1.5 hours of engaging activities, featuring three short documentaries and live briefings. These sessions are especially beneficial for school children as they are well presented and informative. However, it’s important to note that infants should not be brought along due to the dark environment. They may cry and become restless, which can disturb others. If this happens, parents are required to leave the auditorium. The planetarium has seating for approximately 500 people. While the seats are not particularly comfortable, the affordable ticket price of just LKR 250 makes this a minor issue. Public Shows are held on Saturdays at 10 AM and 2 PM. It would be great if an online ticket booking system could be introduced as it would make the process more convenient for visitors. Overall it’s an excellent experience that’s highly recommended especially for students.

I had a good experience visiting the planetarium. Because I never visited before. It’s a nice place with a pleasant atmosphere. The shows were interesting, but there wasn’t much to see outside of the main exhibits. The ticket price for adults is 250. For more information, you can check their website. One downside is that the content in the show felt outdated— it mainly covers old space exploration topics with simple animations, and there’s no mention of modern advancements or recent discoveries. Additionally, the seating was uncomfortable. Since the projections are on the dome, you have to strain your neck to watch. Overall, it’s a solid place to visit, especially if you’re interested in astronomy, but don’t expect to find a ton of exhibits.

Modern Reservation System Needed Currently, the reservation and ticketing process seems outdated. Introducing an online ticketing and reservation system would make the experience much smoother and more accessible, especially for tourists and younger audiences who rely on digital platforms. 2. Language Accessibility and Video Content Quality The video presentations are still in an older format, and unfortunately, the Sinhala-only narration makes it difficult for non-Sinhala speakers to understand. Providing multilingual options or subtitles (e.g., English and Tamil) would make the content more inclusive. Also, updating the projector system and visuals would make the experience more engaging and up-to-date. 3. Outdated Seating and Air Conditioning The air conditioning system and seating arrangements appear very old. Many seats face at awkward angles, making it uncomfortable to watch the show, especially for long periods. Investing in comfortable, adjustable seating and a better cooling system would greatly enhance visitor comfort. 4. Limited Educational Content on Planets While the information about rockets and space missions is interesting, the focus seems too narrow. A planetarium should ideally focus on planetary science, the solar system, and cosmic phenomena. Adding updated content about planets, stars, black holes, and space exploration would align better with the expectations of most visitors. Final Thoughts I am sharing this feedback not as criticism, but as a suggestion to help improve what could be a fantastic educational space. The Planetarium is an asset to the country. It's awesome that the general public is given the chance to enjoy this place on Saturdays. It is best to give them a call the day before and confirm that there will be a show and it is recommended to reach there by around 8.45 am to stay in the queue to buy tickets. The show starts at 10 am but the place gets all crowded and the tickets are issued at first come first serve basis. Inside the theatre, it is best if you get seated at the North side. However these sides are not indicated when you go in there first. From the entrance to your right side would be the North and that's the best place to sit since most of the movie is displayed at the South of the screen. Unlike the good old days when we visited the Planetarium from school, they have improved a lot now and the picture quality is also very good with the sounds as well. Overall, the experience was really nice and they have areas for kids to play and to take pictures as well.

We visited Black Cat Cafe for a cup of coffee. And flat white was beyond expectations. It was really "hot" (I prefer my coffee to be that hot so I can slowly dig into it otherwise it will be at the room temperature within seconds). Stopped by for a coffee on a Sunday afternoon and tried their popular flat white coffee. Flat white has a decent aroma and flavour. Service was decent. They charged me an extra 20% for dining in when paying by card, which I found exorbitant and unreasonable. The ambience was cozy and relaxing however, at the time of my visit, most the tables were occupied by foreigners working on their laptops.

We were waiting for our friends in a cafe. Such a chill spot. Great coffee, lots of character, and the vibe was super relaxed. The walls are full of cool vintage posters, there's a shelf packed with books. Perfect for working, reading, or just taking a break. There is also an outside terrace. Definitely coming back.

This place has surprised us with an amazing time. The vibe is over the top and karaoke is fun as well. We had to pay 2000LKR per person as an entrance fee which can be redeemable by any drink you buy. Also we got free cocktails per person as well. Vibe is amazing and this is a reminiscent of a classical European pub. Interior is great it was always lively. Service is amazing too. I’ve had better cocktails in Colombo than this but these are decent as well. Maybe I’m too young for these fancy cocktails. When it comes to the crowd, most people were seniors who are here to have a good time. I assume most of them are club members and regulars here. As new comers it was a bit foreign for us. But an enjoyable one. So if you are a young single looking for a sugar daddy or something, this could be a good place. Overall a great experience. One of kind in Colombo.

Great vibe for over 35s to hang out. A gathering place for Colomboites who sing to their hearts content. Great mix of 80s, 90s DJ music in-between sets. The best time to go is a Friday after 1am.

With access to an impressive song library, music lovers can choose from a wide array of genres. When the system is working smoothly, it's easy to queue up favorites and sing with confidence. That said, peak nights can bring technical hiccups, mic waits or delayed song plays, which can disrupt the rhythm a bit. The bar serves a broad selection of alcohol, including crafted cocktails with flair. Light bites accompany drinks nicely, though this isn’t a full fledged dining destination. Service quality seems to vary. Many nights feature friendly, attentive staff who add to the warm vibe. Other times, slow mic handling or communication barriers have interrupted the flow, pulling focus away from the entertainment. Still, if you're in the right mood and at the right time, it's one of Colombo’s best places to sing your heart out.

We came here on a Wednesday night around 9pm. No cover was requested. It was just my wife and I there at the time. But that didn't stop us from singing our songs and the KJ did not hesitate to save up our songs. He even picked one for us to sing. He noticed a trend of our love of hip hop and played hip hop songs when we were singing. They use Karafun so will likely have an extensive collection of songs. Our server was also excellent and we chatted for a bit. Unfortunately I forgot his name but he was the one who spent time working in Romania and the Maldives and is also well versed in mixology. All in all a good time.

Great music selection. The owners are super nice and the food ain't half bad. The regulars are always happy to provide back up vocals! The only downside is that the DJ is a complete turd who doesn't pass the mic in the order of requests received and plays favorites.

I tried the Sri Lankan mixed flavors platter and one of their desserts (photos attached). Both were delicious! The waiter was very kind, friendly, and attentive — he even gave us information while chatting with us. One small note: if you don’t want spicy food, make sure to mention it in advance. Overall, it’s definitely a place where you can comfortably enjoy a meal if you’re around. Highly recommended!

Greeted with smiles. We had fried rice both chicken and prawns. The isso thel dala was really nice. Spicy but delicious 😋. Also the potato fry was excellent. Service is excellent. The drinks were excellent. Genuine sri lankan culinary experience in the heart of colombo. You got nelum pokuna and the colombo council building for the view. Easy to have a conversation. The watalappan was fantastic as well. I didn't notice any artificial flavors or enhancers. It's a healthy genuine experience. Highly recommend!

The highlight of our short stayover at Colombo before heading to explore other parts of SL. When the 2 of us, ordered the Jaffna Crab Curry we were warned that the portion size is usually fit for 3-4 people. And to be fair, it is but little did they know our capacity to devour that delicious crab and soak in all the gravy into our set lunch menu plate with rice, bread and vegetables. I'm going to have dreams about that crab gravy. There were so many other things on the menu that caught our eye but our stomachs betrayed us by only allowing us to eat so much. Coming back again on the next visit to Colombo to savour more.

The service was exceptionally friendly, and the staff took the time to guide us through their extensive menu and explain the dishes. The food was delicious as well. We had roti paratha, veggie curry, prawns, milk hopper and buffalo milk. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a sri lankan experience in Colombo! :)

Poor food quality. We ordered the srilankan taster plate, they took more than 20 minutes to bring us the dish. String hoopers and hoppers were good, the garlic rice was extremely dry and the whole platter was very average, Unlike the other reviews…. Extremely disappointing. Fish and cuttlefish were average too. Not worth it. Poor service

On a main road near seaside, very good selection of fresh food, amazing cocktails, kind and friendly staff. Always again a pleasure to stop over for a bite!

One of the more hip restaurants in colombo located at Crescat. Ambiance is welcoming and has a very unique touch to it. We visited the place for lunch and were not disappointed. For parking u can either use the Crescat parking or the Cinnamon hotel parking which u will have to pay a fee for. On food we tried the fettuccine prawn and tomato pasta and a Javanese sea food fried rice of which both were tasty and full of flavor. The churros which we got for desert was yum! You need to eat it while it’s hot and dip it in the sauce they provide. The cookie and cream milkshake was nicely made. We also got a coke which came with a orange piece in it which seems to be the trend in most places now and it was good. The service was good and the staff was very supportive and friendly. Overall a pleasant experience and would definitely revisit. Only comment is may be make an upgrade to the menu as this doesn’t seem to have changed over time.

I will be honest I missed the vibe of the Sugar Bistro that we used to frequent at Odel … but the food here at this branch also tastes the same - filling, delicious & simple soul food !! Will always be our go to cafe in Colombo… wherever they are … as long as they can be consistent on the food quality!! Recommended: the burgers :)

Good food, excellent service, but i was surprised to see all prices are before taxes and don't include service. Other than that it was a good experience. English breakfast is worth it - and it comes with onion bhaji instead of mushrooms which is a nice touch - and so are the Eggs Benedict. The Mango and Pineapple fresh juices are excellent. Good coffee as well. We were also served with complementary fruits whilst waiting for our order. Would definitely return to the place!

And there is a separate menu for burgers. Excellent customer service. Prices in the menu is excluding taxes and service charge. When you get the final bill including the taxes and service charge price is bit high compared to other places.

my family and i have been going to london grill for over 15 years and after our last visit we will not return. they recently changed the menu and all the food is now far below the standard we know and love. 1) the mushroom sauce had no mushrooms in it 2) they no longer have the lobster bisque 3) nor the gelato between dishes 4) nor the chocolate popsicles 5) potato side dishes are now an additional charge 6) the side of vegetables comes with a mere 4 slices 7)without the sauce on it the fillet was absolutely tasteless. zero seasoning and marinate. 8) they used to give a wide array of breads to choose from, now it’s only 2

Anniversary Dinner at London Grill – Cinnamon Grand We celebrated our anniversary at London Grill, and it was truly a memorable evening! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was outstanding — warm, attentive, and genuine. The staff members Gayan, Maheshika, and Janith went above and beyond to make our night special. The ambience was elegant and perfect for an intimate dinner, while the food was a delightful new experience — beautifully presented and full of flavor. Food is good. But service is very poor. It took about half an hour to serve a black label double shot. Liquor need to be served quicker, maximum within 5-10 minutes. Otherwise it makes the crowd dull.

The steak is too salty, and the black pepper sauce tastes a little sweet. Finally, a tax of 8,000 rupees (excluding service charges) is also charged. This restaurant is highly unrecommended unless you have extra money to do charity, 叕貴ㄡ難ロ乞，叧リ粜！

The food was delicious but definitely more on the expensive side. They started off with complimentary garlic bread and buns with a trio of herbed butters for the table, followed by a fresh lime palate cleanser prior to serving the main meals. A complimentary chocolate covered ice cream was served as dessert. The food was tasty, the plating was done well, and the ambience was romantic. The only issue I had was the high price of the food. There were not many options for my husband in terms of gluten free items but the staff were able to put together a basic salmon dish with an olive oil dressing for him. The staff were attentive and we enjoyed the live piano music as well.

After all these years, London Grill is still able to keep up all the food quality, taste. Service is marvellous, staffs are so attentive to all of their customers. As I don’t eat beef, I can’t comment on that. All these 5 - 6 years, I stick with the Tasmania Salmon, don’t know how they do that! The taste didn’t change at all, so good! That Tempura Prawn is a highlight. Then the lobster soup, cooking in front of you. I almost asked them to cook faster and serve as the smell is so so so good when they were cooking the lobster. All the staffs are with friendly faces, and very attentive. You don’t need to look up where they are for anything. They see what you need and come to you right away. Very comfortable environment. So relax for you to enjoy a good meal! Thanks for keeping all these up!

Palmyrah claims to offer "authentic" and "traditional" Jaffna flavors, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of that promise. The flavors felt diluted, seemingly modified to cater to a Western or non-native palate, which diminished the authenticity that one would expect from such a place. The odiyal kool starter, advertised as one of their signature dishes, was particularly disappointing. The flavors were off, and rather than the earthy, seafood-rich taste typical of kool, it was overshadowed by an unexpected addition—possibly a tomato or chili-based sauce—that completely altered the dish’s character. This departure from tradition was a letdown. The other dishes didn’t fare much better. The hoppers were underwhelming, I assumed that the batter wasn't fermented enough, and both the kothu and prawn dish lacked the bold, nuanced flavors that define authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The core issue seems to be a dilution of traditional recipes. By trying to appeal to a broader audience, Palmyrah has compromised the very essence of what makes Jaffna cuisine so special. If you market your food as "authentic," it’s crucial to stay true to the original flavors rather than tailoring everything for a "foreign" palate. The service, too, left something to be desired. It took over 10 minutes before our server even approached our table, despite the restaurant being almost empty. There was a noticeable lack of attentiveness, which contributed to the overall lackluster experience. On a positive note, the atmosphere was clean and pleasant, but that alone isn’t enough to redeem the experience. Given the hype surrounding Palmyrah, especially from YouTube videos labeling it a "must-visit," I’d have to disagree. Based on this visit, I’d recommend giving it a pass unless they go back to delivering the rich, authentic Jaffna flavors they claim to serve.

Palmyrah has a reputation for authentic Jaffna-style dishes and hoppers, so I was eager to finally check it out . Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet expectations. We ordered hoppers, their well-known mutton dish, seeni sambol, thosa with sambal, and wattalappam. The hoppers were below average, and the mutton—while flavorful—was served cold and came in a small portion, yet cost 3,500 LKR. The sambols were the highlight—both seeni and thosa sambals were tasty and well-made. The wattalappam was disappointingly small and overpriced, with average flavor. We ended up spending close to 10,000 LKR for the meal, which felt steep for what we got. The ambience was just okay—it’s a downstairs restaurant with no view and nothing particularly atmospheric or romantic. It feels like a place to eat and go, rather than to enjoy the experience. Sadly, I won’t be returning. It seems Palmyrah has lost the charm and quality it was once known for.

if your looking to dine at a cozy restaurant with great Lankan cuisine, i suggest the Palmyrah restaurant at the Renuka City hotel in Colombo. Service is great and the food is a 3.5/5. here are some things to note: For the main course - here are my recommendations: * We love the Egg hoppers and Seeni sambol and the jaggery hoppers :) * Note that all condiments and sambols are priced separately. this includes the chutney for dosa/pol sambol etc. * The Fried fish puttu is my husbands favourite along with an order of Ambul thiyal which is really superb. For Dessert..the favourite was: The Mango Melba which is a generous portion and so tasty. I would not recommend the wattalappam as the portion was tiny and does not deliver authentic taste For fruit juices, the lime juice was the winner. Note that while the prices look reasonable on the menu.. but it does add up as all condiments are sold separately. Cocktails are also quite expensive ( starting at Rs 2000 ++) All menu items are subject to a heavy service charge - please be mindful the bill will be higher than what you ordered.

Honey Beach boasts a wonderful location for spending time with friends and family, offering private seating areas and tables around the pool. The staff are pleasant, though service could be improved; we experienced a 20-minute wait and had to call them over while they were assisting other guests. Food prices are somewhat higher than comparable establishments. While this might be acceptable if the dishes were exceptional, the taste was only average. Our grilled chicken pizza, meat lovers pizza, and crab koththu were unremarkable; the crab koththu, in particular, lacked sufficient crab meat. Beverages, however, were delicious, despite the higher prices, and they offer a happy hour for alcoholic beverages from 5 pm to 7 pm. A significant drawback is the addition of taxes and a 10% service charge on top of the already higher menu prices. Aside from this, the venue is clean, parking is available, and the atmosphere is pleasant. However, those seated in the private areas should be aware of the loud music from the DJ, which makes conversation difficult.

I really liked coming here, but the service from the staff is very poor. Whether it’s food, drinks, or shisha (hookah), everything is served very late. Once you place an order, no one comes back to check if you need anything else. The food quality is also very low considering the place and the amount of money they charge. I paid a bill of 25,000 Sri Lankan Rupees, but it was a waste of money. Both the food and the shisha were absolutely disappointing.

I visit this church almost every first Tuesday, as it's a special day dedicated to St. Anthony. Even though it's a Catholic church, you'll see people from all faiths and backgrounds coming here to pray. There's a deep sense of peace and spiritual connection that draws everyone in. If you visit with a pure heart and true intention to pray, you'll feel something truly special. Many—including myself—believe their prayers have been answered here. It's a place of grace and ongoing miracles. Highly recommended for anyone seeking peace, healing, or blessings.

It is a Catholic church in the Archdiocese of Colombo in Sri Lanka. On 21 April 2019, Easter Sunday, the church was one in a series of targets of a string of suicide bomb blasts across Sri Lanka - at least 93 people were killed in the blast. It has been renovated and open to public. It is a popular church in a busy area. Getting there by foot is the best - limited parking. Security is tight nowadays. You can see a preserved pock marked floor area that that was affected by the blast as a reminder. There is a free tour guide of the area but you are expected to donate to the church at the end of the tour. Area inside is mostly level and under cover. Interesting historical place to visit

The church stands as a testament to faith, perseverance, and religious harmony in Sri Lanka. The church dedicated to St Anthony of Padua holds the esteemed title of the national shrine and a minor basilica within the Archdiocese of Colombo.

Had a great meet-up with friends at Giovanni’s Pizza. We went for the thin crust options — I can’t recall the exact names, but every slice was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was calm and cozy, making it a perfect spot to relax and catch up. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the mood for quality pizza and a chill vibe.

While the service shines, peak hours especially after 5 PM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday can be very noisy, affecting the ambiance. During busy times, the kitchen gets overwhelmed, and orders may take over 20 minutes to arrive. Despite the wait, the food and service make it worth visiting. Ideal for casual meals with great taste, as long as you’re prepared for a lively crowd.

A group of 3 people visited on a Tuesday night at around 10pm. We didn't see any parking and everyone just parked on the road and went into the restaurant. I'm pretty sure this is not allowed during the traffic hours. They have indoor, outdoor and air-conditioned spaces available. The staff was very friendly. The food was served after about 15 minutes of ordering and tasted good.

Giovanni's is the kind of place you know you'll return to before you've even finished your meal. The pizzas are sublime—featuring a perfect crust, generous fillings, and incredible flavour. Paired with great drinks, it's an outstanding value. We visited on a bustling weekend night. Despite being jam-packed, the service was excellent, and our food arrived promptly and, importantly, piping hot—a rare feat for such a busy kitchen. The atmosphere was electric, thanks to the live music. We loved it so much and wanted to hangout longer but felt guilty lingering after eating, knowing there was a long line of people waiting for a table. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it back during our month in Sri Lanka, but Giovanni's is at the very top of our list for next time. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I love the place the most, and the vibe is great with both indoor and outdoor seating. The food looked amazing, and there were a variety of items to choose from. I didn’t try the drinks, so I can't comment on them. There wasn’t much of a wait time either.

How this restaurant has such good reviews the food was terrible! We ordered a seafood risotto and beef lasagna, and both failed in every possible way: presentation, doneness, quality, and flavor everything was bad. The seafood risotto was served with a tomato-based sauce, which I’ve never seen before. The server didn’t mention this when taking the order. After a long argument, they finally brought a white sauce version, but it had completely lost its consistency it was like rice mixed with corn soup. The lasagna tasted fine, but it was served cold, so we didn’t even bother arguing about it. I’ve visited this place more than 20 times before, but today I’m honestly done with their food and service. I used to think this was one of the best Italian restaurants in Colombo, but today all my trust and expectations are gone. It’s such a disappointment to experience this level of quality, especially when the food is overpriced for what it is.

We ordered food there tonight. The food arrived cold, wasn't particularly tasty, and the portions were tiny. A calzone is something else entirely. Real Italians would throw the food against a wall, disappointing for the high price. The chefs apparently can't read either, and special requests were ignored. Last time for us.
