Greeted with smiles. We had fried rice both chicken and prawns. The isso thel dala was really nice. Spicy but delicious 😋. Also the potato fry was excellent. Service is excellent. The drinks were excellent. Genuine sri lankan culinary experience in the heart of colombo. You got nelum pokuna and the colombo council building for the view. Easy to have a conversation. The watalappan was fantastic as well. I didn't notice any artificial flavors or enhancers. It's a healthy genuine experience. Highly recommend!

The highlight of our short stayover at Colombo before heading to explore other parts of SL. When the 2 of us, ordered the Jaffna Crab Curry we were warned that the portion size is usually fit for 3-4 people. And to be fair, it is but little did they know our capacity to devour that delicious crab and soak in all the gravy into our set lunch menu plate with rice, bread and vegetables. I'm going to have dreams about that crab gravy. There were so many other things on the menu that caught our eye but our stomachs betrayed us by only allowing us to eat so much. Coming back again on the next visit to Colombo to savour more.

Poor food quality. We ordered the srilankan taster plate, they took more than 20 minutes to bring us the dish. String hoopers and hoppers were good, the garlic rice was extremely dry and the whole platter was very average, Unlike the other reviews…. Extremely disappointing. Fish and cuttlefish were average too. Not worth it. Poor service

A huge shoutout to Anoja at the front desk who went above and beyond to squeeze me in even though the restaurant was full — her warm welcome and effort to make it happen set the tone for a memorable evening. The service throughout was excellent, especially from Madin, who was not only attentive but also genuinely friendly and kind, making me feel completely at ease. We had dinner at Ministry of Crab last night as a couple with our 10-year-old, and it was a fantastic experience overall! The atmosphere was vibrant yet cozy — perfect for a family evening out. We tried the clay pot prawn curry with rice, and it was absolutely delicious. The prawns were fresh and perfectly cooked, but the real star was the rich, coconut-based gravy — bursting with flavor! We also had passion fruit juice, which was refreshing, though a bit on the sour side for our taste. Overall, a memorable dining experience with great food, friendly service, and a lovely ambiance. This amazing restaurant lived up to all the hype. From when you arrive you are treated with a first class experience. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, and know the menu off by heart. The food is sensational. The prawns and crabs are delicious. My tip, don’t go for the heavily spiced or strongly flavoured sauces, and let the crab do the talking! Sitting in a 400 yo building, surrounded by history and eating top quality food is well worth the pricing! Enjoy!

What a great dining experience at the Ministry of Crab. On arrival service and welcome by Dilanka was warm and welcoming. He explained the menu and guided us through our choices and sizes. The prompt ongoing service for drinks and wipes and extra touches to make our meal memorable were attended to. The entrees of prawns, clams, oysters were each amazing in presentation and flavour. We had three varieties of crab for our main as a group and each were different and delicious. The fleshy crabs were the best I have ever eaten and the body of flavour in the sauces were rich and delicious. The Sri Lankan bread and rice helped us enjoy the sauces and flavours. It was a beautiful meal experience. We rounded off with perfect macchiato coffees. If your budget can stretch this far, I highly recommend a meal here. Just remember to book as our lunch sitting was fully booked out.

A wonderful place to bring foreign delegates to experience authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The traditional dances and songs add a special cultural touch that guests truly enjoy. The fruit section is impressive, with local favorites like wood apple, passion fruit, star fruit, veralu, gaduguda, mangosteen, jambu, rambutan, and more. The crab and mutton delicacies are also highly recommended!

Will I visit again? 100% yes! This was my second time here—I had visited earlier, pre-COVID. The food is great, though the spice level ranges from medium to hot, so you'll need to choose dishes accordingly. I really enjoyed the live counter serving egg appams, along with the other local dishes I tried. I was especially keen to explore authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, and it did not disappoint! The evening was made even more special with live singing, followed by an impressive fire show and a cultural dance performance. It all contributed to a truly memorable experience. There’s so much potential to reimagine heritage flavors through thoughtful fusion — drawing from authentic local ingredients and turning them into something bold, exciting, and uniquely Sri Lankan. A celebration of our roots and our future. I’m not talking profit margins here — this is a five-star hotel. The infrastructure exists. The opportunity is there. For first-timers and tourists, Nuga Gama remains a five-star experience. But in today’s landscape, where Gen Z drives curiosity, influence, and even family outings, the lack of culinary innovation might miss a golden opportunity. Personally, I was content. But that signature wow I’ve felt in other Cinnamon dining spaces? It just didn’t echo here. Still — massive kudos to the genuinely wonderful staff and gracious service team. Food and service were okaish. Drinks could have been better. Few shows in between, which were quite entertaining. Had buffet but would have appreciated better options in starters. Some drink options should have been put up considering it is a buffet - like juices or coconut water. Ice cream section should be better maintained.

The flavors were off, and rather than the earthy, seafood-rich taste typical of kool, it was overshadowed by an unexpected addition—possibly a tomato or chili-based sauce—that completely altered the dish’s character. This departure from tradition was a letdown. The other dishes didn’t fare much better. The hoppers were underwhelming, I assumed that the batter wasn't fermented enough, and both the kothu and prawn dish lacked the bold, nuanced flavors that define authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The core issue seems to be a dilution of traditional recipes. By trying to appeal to a broader audience, Palmyrah has compromised the very essence of what makes Jaffna cuisine so special. If you market your food as "authentic," it’s crucial to stay true to the original flavors rather than tailoring everything for a "foreign" palate. The service, too, left something to be desired. It took over 10 minutes before our server even approached our table, despite the restaurant being almost empty. There was a noticeable lack of attentiveness, which contributed to the overall lackluster experience. On a positive note, the atmosphere was clean and pleasant, but that alone isn’t enough to redeem the experience. Given the hype surrounding Palmyrah, especially from YouTube videos labeling it a "must-visit," I’d have to disagree. Based on this visit, I’d recommend giving it a pass unless they go back to delivering the rich, authentic Jaffna flavors they claim to serve.

Palmyrah has a reputation for authentic Jaffna-style dishes and hoppers, so I was eager to finally check it out . Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet expectations. We ordered hoppers, their well-known mutton dish, seeni sambol, thosa with sambal, and wattalappam. The hoppers were below average, and the mutton—while flavorful—was served cold and came in a small portion, yet cost 3,500 LKR. The sambols were the highlight—both seeni and thosa sambals were tasty and well-made. The wattalappam was disappointingly small and overpriced, with average flavor. We ended up spending close to 10,000 LKR for the meal, which felt steep for what we got. The ambience was just okay—it’s a downstairs restaurant with no view and nothing particularly atmospheric or romantic. It feels like a place to eat and go, rather than to enjoy the experience. Sadly, I won’t be returning. It seems Palmyrah has lost the charm and quality it was once known for.

if your looking to dine at a cozy restaurant with great Lankan cuisine, i suggest the Palmyrah restaurant at the Renuka City hotel in Colombo. Service is great and the food is a 3.5/5. here are some things to note: For the main course - here are my recommendations: * We love the Egg hoppers and Seeni sambol and the jaggery hoppers :) * Note that all condiments and sambols are priced separately. this includes the chutney for dosa/pol sambol etc. * The Fried fish puttu is my husbands favourite along with an order of Ambul thiyal which is really superb. For Dessert..the favourite was: The Mango Melba which is a generous portion and so tasty. I would not recommend the wattalappam as the portion was tiny and does not deliver authentic taste For fruit juices, the lime juice was the winner. Note that while the prices look reasonable on the menu.. but it does add up as all condiments are sold separately. Cocktails are also quite expensive ( starting at Rs 2000 ++) All menu items are subject to a heavy service charge - please be mindful the bill will be higher than what you ordered.

We visit this place with our Japanese friends. Foods look so good, but need to improve the tasty. It little different than real Sri Lankan quality of the foods. Very nicely arranged and there are so many varieties and you can taste any thing. Cost is little expensive, but in such place it is not possible to run the business. What a lively and lovely spread of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. At SLR 1999 it is a good deal and something that every traveller should experience. The place is well designed and quite spacious but the aircon was little less given the food we were thriving on. Located on the fourth floor and we had gone in a group of about 20 friends. I enjoyed the crab where as several others enjoyed the appams and fish and chicken curry. Food is very tasty and hygienic. Liquor is not served here. Try it and i am sure you will love this place.

Used to be good before but from my yesterdays (23/06/2019) visit The place was very bad from the food to all the rest. No Mutton only chicken fish and crab They have reduced the price from 2000/= to 1850/= Also no TEA or COFFEE Next earlier they gave free parking facilities but not now So going there for lunch or dinner is not worth........ Food is not tasty as it used to be........

A good introduction to Sri Lankan food as you get to try a little bit of everything. Each dish packs a punch- my personal favourites were the mango curry and crab. The egg hoppers had a nice flavour, but the downside is that they are served cold. Would be a massive improvement if they could have a chef make it at a live counter. Food aside, the restaurant has probably seen better days. It was practically empty when I went for lunch on a Saturday. Several dishes were missing serving spoons and labels. Not a major problem, but shows you that they don't really bother much with keeping up appearances.

The space is simply stunning—a harmonious blend of art, history, and nature. The design feels open and organic, with thoughtful touches that reflect both cultural heritage and environmental sensitivity. You’ll even find select artworks on display, adding to the artistic ambiance. As for the food, some dishes were decent, though I’d suggest steering clear of the beef options—they were overly salty in my experience. Prices are on the higher side, but considering the unique setting and atmosphere, it’s absolutely worth the visit.

Everywhere else, I left half my food untouched… but at The Gallery Café, I cleaned my plate and almost ordered more. Absolutely recommended. Surprisingly artful and decorated in a very stylish way, this place positively welcomes you in a unique setting. Prices are higher accordingly and with exception of the uncomfortable chairs and the alcohol-free Poya day rules which are part of Sri Lanka culture, we had an excellent evening. Definitely recommendable. Especially the champagne and seafood risotto's were great. Our daughters had a sirloin and fillet steak that were very sizable, a shame their vegetables were not so well cooked.

We had an evening dinner in the outdoor area, a little off the beaten track but well worth the visit. Booking was easy via WhatsApp. Service was attentive, and the menu offered a huge range of both food and drinks. The spicy margarita was excellent, and I’d highly recommend the baked crab to share as a starter. The seared tuna and black pork curry were both outstanding. A perfect mix of Western and local flavours—definitely a spot to revisit. Would be fab in large groups. Pricing on the higher side for Sri Lanka, but pay for quality.

So the entrance to this restaurant is one of the best I’ve been to and I’ve been to thousands of restaurants (yes I’m giving away my age a bit) so expectations are already set high. The menu is varied from different parts of the world so there’s plenty to choose from. The food prices are amongst the highest in Columbo so again expectations are growing. The service was reasonable. However, it all went downhill when the food arrived. Salty was an understatement. Not just one element of the dish but two of the three main elements. The third was white rice that was literally glued together! Needless to say the plate of food was returned and I left having just drank water (to wash away the salty taste!) Definitely worth a visit for the entrance but after that turn around and get your food somewhere else!

The staff is friendly, service is good, and the food is consistently tasty. From their current menu, I have to say the mango pancakes are an absolute favorite of mine — highly recommended! It’s definitely a place I’d love to visit again and again. One small suggestion for the management: the outdoor seating area tends to attract a few mosquitoes and flies. Maybe adding some bug-repellent plants could help make it even more enjoyable. Other than that, everything is spot on.

Highly recommended Cafe Kumbuk 🤗 Ten of us had a wonderful breakfast experience at this cozy cafe. Starting from making the reservation to, finding us parking spots to, serving good food to our oveall experience was very good. They have decent spread of food covering meat lovers, Vegans, Vegetarians. Tasty food, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Look a like they are very busy on weekends, better to make a reservation in advance.

food was okay, we got this pineapple rice dessert and it was really good but the pineapple on top did not do any good. we got pancake and it was burnt on the bottom but they made sure to get us a new pancake set and their customer service was above and beyond. i also got the banana matcha and it was okay. but overall really liked their customer service, they were so nice.

What a great little hideaway. I had a great lunch/coffee. Raj waited on me and provided an excellent recommendation when I asked for something unique and refreshing. The island cooler he brought me was perfect for the warm afternoon. The coffee here was also very good. I was looking for a quality afternoon coffee after a very weak coffee at breakfast and Cafe Kumbuk delivered with a top notch flat white. Highly recommend.

Excellent and tasty food using local fresh ingredients, thoughtfully presented. Served with a smile in a delightful plant-filled courtyard setting. We got the savoury croffle (with pork) and the Kumbuk breakfast board which had a selection of delicious treats including avocado toast, granola with fruit and an orange turmeric shot.

Its a bakery plus restaurant. The bakery goods were actually yummy. The cheesy chicken pasta was good however the spicy chicken pasta wasn’t up to the standard. Generous portion. Reasonable prices. Less food options in the brunch hours !

Their brownies and cheesecakes are also worth trying sweet, soft, and perfectly made. The staff are friendly and helpful, always smiling and making sure customers are happy. The service is quick, and prices are fair for the quality and portion size. Parking is easy too there’s enough space near the café, so you don’t have to worry about finding a spot.

We visited the place for dinner. We ordered some cheese hoppers, and they were delicious and worth the money. However, the roasted chicken kottu we ordered was not as expected. It was a little too juicy, and the taste was not good. We were disappointed with the quality of the kottu, and the chili paste served was absolute rubbish. If you’re looking for kottu, this is definitely not the place. I wouldn’t recommend it at all. But the hoppers were good.

At first glance, from the outside it doesn’t look like there’s much here – just a narrow lane with some tables. But once you step inside, it’s actually quite nice. The interior has a cozy vibe with exposed brick walls, stylish seating, and a modern setup. It feels casual but also a bit trendy. The food looks good – classic Asian comfort dishes. Presentation is neat, and portions seem filling. it’s just okay — nothing really special or memorable. Not bad, but not something I’d go out of my way for. The service team was very poor, and I’m not happy with the experience Overall, it’s one of those spots where you don’t expect much from the outside, but inside it’s surprisingly pleasant and worth a try.

The food was all delicious but the portions were on the smaller side. I didnt like how the staff kept pushing us to order more drinks it felt a bit too forceful. Also, they kept checking and trying to clear the half finished bottles which disrupted the atmosphere. Other than that everything was fine.

The one star is solely for the taste of the Laksa and service. Otherwise, the dish I ordered was subpar, with only two prawns. I don’t know of any restaurant that serves just two prawns for the price they charge. While the service was good, food is the main reason I visit a restaurant. If I wanted to eat just a plate of rice, I’d rather do that at home than pay for it here.

Loved the place. In fact I visited twice on my 5 day trip to Colombo. Good food. Good vibes. Live music was a bonus. Do try the mushroom baos. Veg pad thai was overly sweet so can be ignored.

This is the only café I’ve come across that is entirely dedicated to cricket! From the surroundings to the menu card, everything revolves around the game. You can see some amazing historical cricket memorabilia—signed bats, jerseys, wickets, helmets, and more. It truly feels like a paradise for cricket lovers. More than the food, I just love being here for the cricket vibe!

The food we tried was really delicious, and the whole menu is creatively designed around cricket, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. I have never had the same experience at any other restaurant as I did at the Station Restaurant. The service they provided was so poor. I was very disappointed.😑😑 The seafood they served us was so dry that it was inedible🦀. The french fries they gave us were so burnt that they were inedible. 🍟 When we asked the reason, they said it was the nature of this food.🙄🤷 Likewise, the chicken bite they gave us could not be used as a snack at all. It was better eaten with something like rice or bread. They charged us over 23,000 rupees for such poor food and service. However, after we argued with them, they reduced the bill to 15,000 rupees. I am very disappointed in your restaurant. It took hours to complete my order because your menu is not updated. You sent water-based potions in a paper box that leaked almost everything. Don’t you have the common sense to include a lunch sheet in your packaging? Additionally, I only received 10 pieces of cuttlefish for the large portion, which feels very cheap. If you want to be this cheap, perhaps you should reconsider being in business. Overall, I am really disappointed. Do not ever buy from this place

We had a great time at this place! We booked the upstairs dining area for a private function and it was super spacious. They let us decorate it however we wanted, which was awesome. The food was totally worth the price - everything tasted amazing. We could play our own music and weren't bothered at all. The staff downstairs were always on hand if we needed anything, and the manager was really helpful and checked in on us a lot. We stayed till 11:45 PM and they even offered to take down all our decorations afterwards. Highly recommended!

Avoid This Restaurant – A Complete Waste of Money Our visit to this restaurant was an extremely disappointing experience. I went with my family for dinner and we ordered the mixed grill, mixed seafood, and grilled chicken. Unfortunately, none of the dishes were worth the high prices they charged. The portion sizes were shockingly small. The grilled chicken looked more like a kids’ meal, yet we were charged full price. The mixed grill and seafood were even worse – the meat was burnt, and all we got were small, overcooked pieces served with basic French fries. I couldn’t believe they charged more than 13000 LKR for such poorly prepared food. The mixed seafood dish was bland and lacked even basic seasoning like salt. It was completely tasteless. When we raised our concerns with the staff, they didn’t take them seriously and showed no intention of making things right. It felt like they were used to receiving complaints and just didn’t care. To make matters worse, the washrooms were filthy and poorly maintained, with broken doors – absolutely unacceptable for any restaurant. Despite showing them the burnt food and expressing our dissatisfaction, we were still charged the full amount. There was no apology or effort to resolve the issue. I honestly don’t know how this place is still in business given the poor quality of food, lack of hygiene, and terrible customer service. Please do not waste your time or your hard-earned money here. Extremely disappointed – I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Excellent food, attentive service in a gorgeous setting. We went for lunch but I’ve seen pictures of the lighting at dinner which is also beautiful. The shade, abundant plants and fountains make it a true urban oasis and a delicious one at that! 10/10 for Colombo. Bring bug spray though, it is an outdoors restaurant. If you forget it, they provide some too.

An excellent restaurant, tucked away down a small road, off Jawatte Road, Col 5. The food and service were excellent and the friendly owners checked on our table twice too. We had beef teriyaki with mashed potatoes, -the beef was lovely and tender. We also had breaded tiger prawns and fried egg in a wrap with cassava chips.

Nihonbashi delivers an outstanding Japanese dining experience in Colombo. The food is bursting with flavor, and I have to give a special mention to the pork belly, it was simply exceptional, one of the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. Every bite felt like a masterclass in how pork belly should be prepared. The cocktail menu is another highlight. Unlike many places in Sri Lanka where cocktails tend to be light on both flavor and alcohol, Nihonbashi gets it right. The drinks here are strong, well-balanced, and absolutely worth the price. It’s refreshing to find a place where you feel you’re getting real value for your money with every sip. That said, there are a couple of points to keep in mind. The prices are on the higher side for Sri Lankan standards, but to be fair, the quality of both food and drinks fully justifies it. Also, like in many restaurants across the island, service can be a little slow at times, especially when it comes to drinks. A faster turnaround would take the whole experience to the next level. Overall, Nihonbashi is a must-visit for anyone looking for top-quality Japanese cuisine paired with great cocktails in Colombo.

Had an exceptional dining experience at Nihonbashi Japanese Restaurant. Food is authentic, beautifully prepared, and has real Japanese flavors. The highlight was the real Wagyu-perfectly cooked, tender, full of flavor. Every dish reflected great attention to detail and quality. Then, after dinner, we reached the stylish and laid-back open-air bar called LIT Lost in Translation. It has creative, well-balanced signature cocktails, plus an impressive sake, wine, and whisky collection. A great place to wind up after a fabulous meal. Highly recommended to those who enjoy traditional Japanese food and a world-class bar experience.

Food was great, very tasty. Service was good. But prices are extremely expensive and somewhat unexpected. The extra charges are not very clear. The total bill for us for 2x people came to 18,527LKR. Of which the food itself according to the menu was 13,800 and the rest are a range of charges (service charge, vat, sscl, tdl...). If you are rich and don't mind the cost, then can recommend this place. But probably not recommendable for most hard working people. The Gyu Saikoro steak was quite nice.

We visited Black Cat Cafe for a cup of coffee. And flat white was beyond expectations. It was really "hot" (I prefer my coffee to be that hot so I can slowly dig into it otherwise it will be at the room temperature within seconds). Also it comes with a little chocolate cookie which has a white chocolate core. The staff was helpful and friendly. We were treated well. I do not know that boy's name (curly haired) who served us, but I wanted to appreciate his gentleman's gesture that he deliberately passed my boyfriend to serve me first. Felt like a lady. Parking space is limited.

Stopped by for a coffee on a Sunday afternoon and tried their popular flat white coffee. Flat white has a decent aroma and flavour. Service was decent. They charged me an extra 20% for dining in when paying by card, which I found exorbitant and unreasonable. The ambience was cozy and relaxing however, at the time of my visit, most the tables were occupied by foreigners working on their laptops.

We were waiting for our friends in a cafe. Such a chill spot. Great coffee, lots of character, and the vibe was super relaxed. The walls are full of cool vintage posters, there's a shelf packed with books. Perfect for working, reading, or just taking a break. There is also an outside terrace. Definitely coming back.

The Lagoon at Cinnamon Grand is hands down one of the best places in Colombo for seafood lovers. The selection of fresh seafood on display is simply outstanding, and you get to choose exactly what you want and how you want it prepared. The baked crab was absolutely amazing, bursting with flavor, and the oysters with cheese were nothing short of heavenly. Almost everything is priced per 100 grams, so it can be a little on the pricey side, but for the quality, taste, and overall experience, it’s worth indulging in once in a while. A must-visit if you’re craving top-notch seafood in the city!

The Lagoon is a wonderful experience! It’s expensive but worth treating yourself at least once. The food is fresh and flavorful and I love that you can choose your protein before it is prepared. You can also choose how it is prepared (i.e.: grilled, steamed, fried etc) and you can choose the sauce it’s prepared in. The staff is so friendly and helpful and they are great about giving suggestions. The sides are all delicious as are the drinks - you cannot go wrong no matter what you choose. I wish I knew everyone’s names because they are all so friendly but our last waiter was Priyanga and he was a lot of fun! Truly a 5 star experience!

This is the best place for Seafood 🍤 in Sri Lanka . Love the Tamarind Cuttle fish , the Fish Roe and the Handella fish and the fish and chips. . The Red curry Modha and Chili Garlic prawn was very flavorful. The garlic rice was not very good but we sent it back and they re did it . It is always better to make a reservation and come . The food is average. We went for buffet lunch. The spread could have been better. Very limited selection. We orderd a grilled lobster, not up to the expectation level. Overall experience good..

I came to The Lagoon as a group , collectively we ordered sautéed scallops , crab claws , sesame prawns , white curry with fish, thick coconut gravy with cuttlefish , fenugreek curry with prawns , fried rice , fried noodles , wok fried veg, Thai omlette and roast paan. The scallops and curries were all delicious along with the fried rice . The roast paan was rock solid and the crab claws and sesame prawns are okay. The cocktails I tried were nice but they did get the order wrong . Also when receiving the bill, they had accidentally added another tables order into our bill which we then rectified.

Prawn & Chicken/Chives dumplings were fresh and good. Xiao Long Bao were made with coconut oil bath. Sichuan Double Roasted were made for Srilankan taste palette. This used to be my favourite authentic Chinese food place. Not any more & I think business moved to match Srilankan taste. Later Tofu with Red-bean sauce was served without red beans & mango sago to complement. Don’t keep high hopes - there are better places in Colombo. Oh yes 3rd left side elevator not working as well.

I’m a fan of Shang Palace and was happy to discover that they have a well-rated one in Colombo. After a few days of tasty local cuisine, I felt that we could do with a good-quality Chinese lunch. To start, the restaurant was beautifully decorated with a very nice view of the city and the sea. Service was impeccable and friendly, I appreciated the hot oolong tea being served as we were seated. They have a Hakka Chef from Fujian who had on offer an interesting menu with a few signature dishes, but unfortunately my daughter only wanted to eat dim sum so I had to skip them. I would also love to taste one of their many crab dishes, but that would have to be for another occasion. If you were alone they had a simple trolley with 4 types of dim sum where you could order a piece or 2 without having to order full baskets. We ordered a variety of dim sum as well as an egg fried rice and have to say most of them were excellent. The egg fried rice was one of the best I’ve had (and I’ve eaten this dish through Asia and Europe) and it tasted good even cold the next day. The Cantonese-style dim sum (e.g. har gau, siumai, cheongfun) were finely-made, but I have to say that their Shanghai-style items like the Xiaolongbao and especially the shengjianbao (more like a big pork bun) could really be improved. It was a very pleasant and delicious lunch, with great service in a beautiful environment, and the prices were reasonable.

Overall the restaurant was very good and they can provide kids meal upon request, staff are supportive. Crab rice was good and also the chicken But the duck unfortunately was not available

Absolutely phenomenal experience at Shang Palace, Shangri-La Colombo! I've had the pleasure of visiting multiple times for their Yum Cha, and it never disappoints. The dim sum selection is incredible, with a wide variety of options to suit every palate. The service is impeccable, with friendly and attentive staff who ensure everything runs smoothly. The ambiance is elegant and refined, perfect for a special occasion or business lunch. If you're a fan of Cantonese cuisine, Shang Palace is a must-visit. Their Yum Cha experience is truly exceptional. I've been back multiple times and can't wait to go again! 5 stars isn't enough – I'd give it more if I could!

You can take an Indian out of India , but you can’t take India out of an Indian The craving of masala lead us here - and we weren’t disappointed! “Full marks for service” they are so pleasing, hands-on, and prompt. We ordered chicken shorba, the mix veg platter, rotis, aloo parath, daal makhni. What stood out from all of this was the Lahori Koftas! They were delectable, flavourful and melt in the mouth. The interiors are tastefully done, just that it was a tad warm on the evening we went in. Parking is along the restaurant

I’d recommend visiting only if the total bill is under ₨4000. Dear Management: please reconsider your pricing. We are locals, not tourists—such high costs could drive away regular customers. Lovely sea food restaurant for fine dining. Food was amazing. Prices a bit high which is however expected with sea food. You can select your fish from display or pick from the menu it’s fresh and well prepared. The place is family friendly and atmosphere is very elegant and charming with spacious seating areas. Staff was nice and professional, But Sometimes service was a bit slow but maybe can be overlooked if they were understaffed that day. Overall a good experience.

I had the pleasure of dining here while in town for a JW Special Convention, and it was such a great experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was attentive from start to finish. The food was freshly made—you even select your own fish and choose how you’d like it prepared. Every dish was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. Drinks were perfectly balanced, and everyone in our group left completely satisfied. Highly recommend!

The modern aesthetics and the frozen seafood displayed within a cubicle are certainly the star of the restaurant. There is a solid variety of dishes, including beverages to choose from, but the prices are not entirely worth some of the dishes served. It is disappointing to mention that the fish was slightly overcooked as well as the squid. The quantity could be a bit more, but I suppose it's more about the experience than the food itself. However, the other dishes were flavourful and well presented. The customer service wasn't too bad apart from being clumsy twice they are more than happy to assist you. Overall, it was a classy dining experience with good seafood to savour.

Ocean Seafood Restaurant at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo is a wonderful spot to enjoy a relaxed and elegant dining experience. The spacious and cozy setting makes it perfect for a quiet meal or a good conversation with friends. The interior design is tasteful and gives the place a high-end feel, while the surrounding view adds to the pleasant atmosphere. I’ve visited twice, and on both occasions, it wasn’t crowded, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The food is served promptly and tastes great. The hot butter mushroom dish and the strawberry mojito, in particular, stood out – both were absolutely delicious. The service is excellent, with plenty of staff available at all times. They are attentive and quick to respond to any request, making you feel well taken care of throughout your visit.

On August 1, we (a party of 2), arrived at the restaurant at 8:45pm and were swiftly moved to a nice table overlooking the pool. The presiding manager (whose name I forgot) guided me in selecting fresh fish, accompaniments, and style of preparation. When the food arrived, it looked very enticing and the waiter served us the rice, vegetables, and fish to get us started. What an amazing preparation, it was delicious from the first to the last bite, finishing off with amazing desserts. Kudos to the manager, waiting staff, attending staff, and not forgetting the chefs, we walked away fully satisfied knowing we wish to be back for more.

Really nice food. Some of the starter portions are pretty small but it’s starters. Preparation time seems little longer but the outcome is pretty satisfying. Let’s not forget the restaurant located in a 5* property when it comes to pricing. Valet parking cost you lkr 300 bucks as well.

I recently tried the Cherry Blossom cocktail, and it was amazing! I loved every bit of it. This place is always a favorite spot for me. The prices are quite reasonable, making fine dining a lot more affordable without compromising on quality service. The portions are always extra generous, and my favorite, the chicken dumplings, disappeared before I could even capture them in the pics. Highly recommended!

It was a good experience! I wouldn’t say exceptional, but it was good. Expensive with 7k in taxes and service charges, and the total bill came up to 27k for two people. Food is warm and flavorful, ambiance is good with the service being friendly and easy. Go for cocktails, they have some good selections. I enjoyed the Dodola (image attached), it was really good. If you can’t get your order right, you will have a good meal! I enjoyed mine and would recommend it to anyone! Cheers!

Noodles taste really good and drinks are superb. As well as the quality of food, service quality matters too. The manager at the place was not very welcoming when we said we didn't make a prior reservation. The customer who's already at the restaurant is more important than the one that you are expecting.

Have been to Germany twice and this felt like being back in Bavaria. The food was extremely delicious and we went back a second time upon returning to Colombo. They had 2 German beers available, and our waiter even taught us how to get the rest of the flavor out of our dunkelweissen beer. I highly recommend the pork schnitzel jager style and don’t skip the homemade spaetzle. Head’s up, they referred to them as noodles- but they’re legit. The creme brulee was absolutely fantastic. Great value for authentic German fare.

The starters were amazing. The mocktails were refreshing. But we were so disappointed with the main course. The baked crab was soggy and mashed up. The two sirloin steaks were the wrong cut and so chewy. Medium rare is supposed to melt in your mouth but this steak was rubbery, chewy and horrible to eat. Quite disappointed to experience that from a well known German restaurant.

From the road Beach Wadiya looks run down, but cross the train tracks, and you a get warm and friendly welcome from the staff. We just wanted to grab a sunbed and have a few drinks, beers were cold, lime juice fresh and sweet and the view is to die for. We didn't eat this time but the food that came out from the kitchen looked and smelt lovely and no one was complaining. The beach was clean and tidy which was a bonus.

Had dinner at Beach Wadiya, Colombo and loved it. Tried the oysters, devilled fish, and grilled prawns — all super fresh and full of flavor. Cool vibes and awesome beach views. Definitely worth checking out if you are into seafood.

I had seafood soup and fish fillet with mashed potato. Both dishes tasty, but extremely small portions. I got oysters and I didn't like them. Too bittersih. It's laid back atmosphere. But they could clean their part from garbage. Looks filthy. The waiter should gain more language skills. It is pricey the quality of the service. Do not recommend.

It was a delicious seafood dinner of dishes cooked simply, keeping the original flavour of the dishes intact (instead of piling it with a lot of sauces and oils!. We had the Prawn Soup, 2 portions of Oysters with lime and a dash of hot sauce (yum!), 1kg grilled whole fish (from the day’s fresh catch), and a salad as an accompaniment.👏👏 Service and cleanliness was very good. However they need to work on ambient lighting, do something about the cats who try to climb on chairs (!!), and maybe add some light music to enhance the mood. 🙂

Such a disappointment. We went over for dinner. The wait was so long! Over an hour. The food was absolutely awful! So salty! You can’t eat anything! Every single dish was salty. Even after complaining that the food was not good, there was no manager to be seen. When asked the waiter for the manager he said he’s only there during afternoons. Then asked the cashier who claimed to be the manager. They re-served the fried rice, a prawn dish and kangkung which was comparatively less salty yet not up to restaurant standards and was still so bad. When the second set of prawns came in, they weren’t cleaned. Disgusting! Wouldn’t recommend to anyone who has tastebuds.

A small lane that has 4-5 restaurants in it, the place is lit up by lanterns and fairy lights. Each restaurant focuses on one cuisine- Pan Asian, Italian, Middle-eastern, French and Japanese. The place gets very vibrant on weekends. The food is tasty and priced about right.

Went to park street mews on a weekday for lunch. The place has a warm ambiance with a high roof that makes it feel spacious. The staff are friendly and kind. There were a few guests. The place has both indoor and outdoor dining facilities. There's a soothing background score running. The menu has breakfasts running till 2pm. It also has starters, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and mains. The desserts are limited to a few, but good. The smoked chicken burger with salad was really good. Would recommend trying it once. The avocado milkshake was good. The sausage based starter was yum.

Perfect place to hang with your friends and family. Food was great and tasty. But only down side was the pricing. You are look at about 2500+ if you get a main, drink/beverage and share a appetizer with a friend. So yeah expensive!! But i must tell you its kinda worth it. They do give free bed and butter with olive oil, good stuff. Clean and tidy bathrooms. Must try the spicy cheese toast, high recommended. Beverages are average and i hv had better. Overall great experience and would definitely recommend. Better in the night with lights!!

This is one of the famous restaurant in town and contain alcohol. this place is ok and nice views are too there Visited this restaurant with family. We were 7 of us and were extremely satisfied with the service. They have nice comfortable sofas and we had our own dining section which was spaced out. Adds a nice dimension to the Colombo night life. This place has a fair number of eating places. Food was delicious. I highly recommend to try their hand made ice creams specially burnt caramel and chilly mango. Overall an amazing experience!

A nice and cozy restaurant at the heart of Colombo. Ample parking space at front, however due to their parking slot arrangement, getting in and out of the parking can be bit of a hassle. Ambience is excellent. There are good menu options with a much higher price tag with taxes and service surcharge. We ordered mixed sea food platter for 4, which was barely enough for 4 I d say. However it tasted great. The downside of this place is that it is closed between 3.30pm - 6pm which is a real disappointment. They close the kitchen at 3pm so you can't order after that. I don't know the reason for this bizzare schedule but they should rectify it.

Absolutely delicious and affordable Sri Lankan food. It is situated in a beautiful old terrace house, great service and atmosphere. The waiter was helping us decide what to have and it did not disappoint. Cannot go past the crispy rotti for dessert!

Had lunch here and we were very satisfied with the tasty food. We ordered the bamboo chicken biryani and the whole fried fish. The fish was friend so well that you could nearly eat all the bones like chips. It was seasoned so well, you didn't need any dips or condiments. The biryani was yum. Very clean and well styled place. Be prepared that it takes at least 30mins for your food to come out. But it's because the food is all cooked to order and the food is worth it for the wait.

The staff are incredibly humble, attentive, and helpful, making the dining experience warm and welcoming. While the service shines, peak hours especially after 5 PM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday can be very noisy, affecting the ambiance. During busy times, the kitchen gets overwhelmed, and orders may take over 20 minutes to arrive. Despite the wait, the food and service make it worth visiting. Ideal for casual meals with great taste, as long as you’re prepared for a lively crowd.

A group of 3 people visited on a Tuesday night at around 10pm. We didn't see any parking and everyone just parked on the road and went into the restaurant. I'm pretty sure this is not allowed during the traffic hours. They have indoor, outdoor and air-conditioned spaces available. The staff was very friendly. The food was served after about 15 minutes of ordering and tasted good.

Giovanni's is the kind of place you know you'll return to before you've even finished your meal. The pizzas are sublime—featuring a perfect crust, generous fillings, and incredible flavour. Paired with great drinks, it's an outstanding value. We visited on a bustling weekend night. Despite being jam-packed, the service was excellent, and our food arrived promptly and, importantly, piping hot—a rare feat for such a busy kitchen. The atmosphere was electric, thanks to the live music. We loved it so much and wanted to hangout longer but felt guilty lingering after eating, knowing there was a long line of people waiting for a table. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it back during our month in Sri Lanka, but Giovanni's is at the very top of our list for next time. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I love the place the most, and the vibe is great with both indoor and outdoor seating. The food looked amazing, and there were a variety of items to choose from. I didn’t try the drinks, so I can't comment on them. There wasn’t much of a wait time either.

How this restaurant has such good reviews the food was terrible! We ordered a seafood risotto and beef lasagna, and both failed in every possible way: presentation, doneness, quality, and flavor everything was bad. The seafood risotto was served with a tomato-based sauce, which I’ve never seen before. The server didn’t mention this when taking the order. After a long argument, they finally brought a white sauce version, but it had completely lost its consistency it was like rice mixed with corn soup. The lasagna tasted fine, but it was served cold, so we didn’t even bother arguing about it. I’ve visited this place more than 20 times before, but today I’m honestly done with their food and service. I used to think this was one of the best Italian restaurants in Colombo, but today all my trust and expectations are gone. It’s such a disappointment to experience this level of quality, especially when the food is overpriced for what it is.

We ordered food there tonight. The food arrived cold, wasn't particularly tasty, and the portions were tiny. A calzone is something else entirely. Real Italians would throw the food against a wall, disappointing for the high price. The chefs apparently can't read either, and special requests were ignored. Last time for us. If I could give this tea a standing ovation, I would. I asked for less sugar, and not only did they listen, they delivered. It was perfection in a cup! Like the tea gods themselves brewed it. Service? Spot on. The staff was super attentive, nailed the order. Hats off to the person who took my order you understood the assignment. I came for a cuppa and left with a soul soothing experience. 10/10 would sip again.

Pilawoose, Kollupitiya – Night Food Review Pilawoose in Kollupitiya is a good spot to grab food at night. The fried chicken cheese kottu was decent but didn’t quite meet expectations in terms of flavor. The masala kottu was also good, though again, not exceptional. One downside is the waiting time — meals take about 35–40 minutes to be served. There are no service charges, which is a plus. While there’s no dedicated parking available, the staff is friendly and helpful.

One of my best loved cafes in Colombo. The interior and the details are spot on. Cozy little gem of a place serving a variety of drinks and food. A lot of foreigners milling in and out of this cafe. They serve a welcome drink in a tiny mug, which is very thoughtful. I was mind-blown by the mungo strawberry drink today. They’ve used flavored black tea with mango pulp & chucks of strawberry to curate the drink, it was truly refreshing with very very minimal sugar. The spicy chicken crepe was great too, the flavors were on point albeit would have loved more stuffing in the crepe. Staffs are quite friendly and welcoming feedbacks. Very cozy little outlet. Definitely my go to spot every-time I need some me time. Prices are slightly on the higher side plus the VAT and tax is heavy on the bill

I had the chance to visit T Lounge in Colombo and it was a truly unique experience. The variety of teas they offer is astonishing and each one feels carefully crafted. The tea experience itself was superb and the ambiance of the place makes it even more enjoyable. The service was a little slow start but picked up later . The food was also very good and paired well with the tea. The place itself is an experience and I’m glad I found this place . Plenty of variety to try their tea and I’d surely come back Overall, T Lounge is a wonderful spot to enjoy a relaxed tea experience. The atmosphere is warm, the tea selection is excellent, and the food is worth trying. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Colombo.

Dropped by t-Lounge by Dilmah and had their katsu chicken burger and Kandy Lamissi Iced tea – absolutely delicious! The portions was generous and definitely worth the price. The menu has a great spread with plenty of interesting options. Looking forward to my next visit!

Recently hosted a surprise high tea for my wife's birthday here. The staff were very helpful (Chamara) and flexible for a lot of my requests. The event went of very well and it was an overall very pleasant experience. Definitely will come back here again.

These iced teas were incredible. Honestly, they beat every tea or lemonade I’ve ever had in Europe. Perfectly balanced, super refreshing and full of flavor. If you’re even remotely into tea, don’t skip this place.

Excellent tea house. We were looked after by Dinojan and was an insightful visit as we also learnt about the history of Dilmah and were introduced to a delicious infusion of iced blueberry and clove tea. Would highly recommend when in the Dutch hospital area!!!

Tried the prawn rice and curry and chicken biriyani. They were yummy. But, they take away the curry tray too soon, so that it can be shared with other tables too. Staff is very pleasant and friendly. But the service is too slow.

We recently visited the New Banana Leaf Restaurant at its new location in Bambalapitiya. This place holds a special place in our hearts, as we were regulars at their old branch on Galle Road for many years. Naturally, we were excited to try it again and ordered the chicken biriyani—a longtime favorite. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations. The biriyani lacked the signature aroma and depth of flavor that once made it so memorable. It felt bland and uninspired, missing the authentic spices and fragrance typical of a well-prepared biriyani. What was even more disappointing was the use of excessive artificial coloring. All the food seemed unnaturally bright, especially with an intense red hue. After the meal, we noticed our fingers were stained red, which is not only unpleasant but also raises concerns about health and food safety. On a positive note, the restaurant space is clean, spacious, and welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the dining environment pleasant. However, if the food taste and quality are not improved, this may not be enough to retain loyal customers. We sincerely hope the management considers bringing back the original flavor and avoids unnecessary coloring. Quality and authenticity are what made the old Banana Leaf so beloved—don’t lose that.

This restaurant became our go-to when we are in the area ❤️ the freshness and quality of the food is always the same everytime we come back. We got the large Seafood Fried Rice. Absolutely tasty. Food was great. Food took 25 minutes to arrive. Served on an actual banana leaf. Fun experience. The quantity for large is enough for 3 people even though the restaurant suggests that its only enough for 2.

Proud to say this was my ever Sri Lankan meal and it was so good! I got the cuttlefish biryani and I don’t regret a thing! The price was fair and the portion was huge, big enough for 2 I’d say!

I visited Banana Leaf in Bambalapitiya and honestly, I felt the prices were quite high compared to the quality of the food. The taste and portion size were not worth the amount charged. If you’re looking for better value for money and authentic vegetarian meals, I would recommend trying Adiyar Ariya Bhavan instead.

I had a shocking and terrifying experience with my biryani takeaway from this restaurant. While feeding my little son, I discovered two sharp pieces of glass in the rice. This is an unacceptable and dangerous oversight. What was once a favorite dish is now ruined, and for my family's safety, I will never be returning to this restaurant.

Old Dutch building now renovated and converted to a restaurant. Good atmosphere and spacious. However open location and did not have much cooling.. was a bit stuffy. Had limited parking and had to park outside. Not an easy location for parking. We came here just for hoppers, which was really tasty. Worth a visit to have hoppers. Call them before to find out when they have hoppers as it’s not everyday.

We recently ordered from VOC—two chicken lamprais and one mixed meat lamprais. The total came to around Rs. 5,000, and with the Uber delivery fee of Rs. 1,000, the entire order cost Rs. 6,000. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The portion sizes were very small, the chicken pieces were tiny and lacked flavor, and overall, the food didn’t taste as good as it used to. It definitely didn’t feel worth the price, and the quality just wasn’t there. For what we paid, we expected a much better experience. Sadly, this didn’t live up to VOC’s usual standard. Desperately wanted Lamprais for my last meal in Sri Lanka and this place didn't disappoint. Lovely place with courteous staff.. Definitely visit this place again, if you are in Colombo.

It's sort of a love-hate relationship with VOC. Right now it's not so great. We've dined there many times. We keep going back because we have a taste for their food. But it's always a gamble. Their ghee rice and beef smore with mash are our favorites. But the last outing the ghee rice was useless. Going on a day and at a time when they're busy is not a good idea - that's usually when their meals suck. Going after hours - you risk certain dishes to be unavailable. Their juices, though have remained consistent. Their homemade ginger beer and naran juice are out of this world. They claim authenticity of their lamprais, even taking a dig, on their menu, at other restaurants who serve lamprais - but I dunno, didn't seem the greatest, quite dry also. Or maybe I don't know what real lamprais should taste like. Service-wise their waiters are friendly, but takes a while to get their attention once they serve the food - mainly because they're rushing about. The atmosphere is nice, giving off a laid back, a slightly poshish Sri Lankan vibe.

I had the pleasure of visiting this cafe recently and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. The highlight of my visit was definitely the Kalupol Pork Curry, which was a true delight for the taste buds - flavorful and cooked to perfection. The service provided was commendable, with attentive staff members who were friendly and made sure all our needs were met. Additionally, the ample car parking available made it convenient for me to visit without any hassle. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at this cafe and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

25th July 2024 Lunch at VOC, (DBU) Dutch Burger Union, Colombo 4 Ordered Chicken Lamprais with Narang Juice Total Paid Rs.1,965 So, in Colombo,  everyone says that DBU has the best Lamprais. Its a Portuguese lunch meal. I would agree. That is the best in Colombo. The quantity is small, but is just right for me. Flavoursome, and the rice cooked in the stock makes it awesome. Authentic Portugese as I would say.

Ordered the Pesto and chicken Bagel Burger and Vietnamese Iced coffee. The pesto sauce was drizzled in the plate and not inside of the burger which I was fine with since I'm not a pesto sauce fan. The presentation of the bagel burger was excellent. The burger overall was average. The Vietnamese Iced coffee was good but don't expect it to be similar to the authentic. The seating and ambience was chill and good place to hangout with friends and family. You have to self order and the waiters are friendly and good service. The tax and service charge is included in the menu price of the item. There's enough free parking

We were three friends who visited Seed Café in Colombo for breakfast, and it was such a pleasant experience. The place has a really warm and cozy atmosphere perfect to start the day with good food and great company. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we stepped in, and the service was quick and attentive without feeling rushed. We tried a few different breakfast options, and everything we ordered tasted fresh and nicely presented. The food was tasty and portion sizes were just right. The coffee was also really good rich in flavor and served hot, which we really appreciated. The café feels calm and relaxing, with nice music and a clean, minimal setup that gives off a peaceful vibe. Overall, we were happy with our visit. Came here with my friends for a hearty brunch and It absolutely did not disappoint. What we ordered was the beef benni, Pesto & Chicken bagel burger, butternut squash Roti stack with grilled mushroom and Red pepper hummus toast. For beverages we had the vietnamese coffee and the strawberry Matcha Among the main dishes the beef benni was absolutely delish. However if you want a safe option, the bagel is the choice. Regardless it's a Flavor bomb in your mouth. The drinks personally I enjoyed the matcha however the Vietnamese coffee with the a variety of spices really elevated the flavor. That's definitely recommended. Lastly the customer service was as expected. Polite, welcoming with a friendly atmosphere I would however like a minor update to the menu, that is to split the drinks menu where the chocolate and matcha options are together. Adding on Matcha chocolate would be a great addition to the menu.

We had a great breakfast at seeds coffee. Atmosphere is great in a very nice building in a quiet street in Colombo. My highlight was the coldbrew, that was very very fruity and tasty. Food was also delicious with good vegetarian options. Prices I would say are within normal range for western cafe‘s in the area. Would definitely recommend coming here.

We went to a friends lunch out there and we ordered North Indian Thali and South Indian thali . North Indian was LKR 1500, and South Indian thali was 1300 or 1200. The picture here is the North Indian thali and that was delicious and nicely balance the spices. And ordered a gulab jamun that wasn’t a real gulab jamun and it was horrible. Good place to have a vegetarian foods. Highly recommended

Very mediocre food. Almost all side dises taste the same. Food has no authentic taste. Compared to other places this is an average eatary.

I went there to have a cup of tea. That was a worsted tea I ever try. They add much tea power and it’s not filtered much. It left more residue than refreshment.

Dwarka Indian Restaurant on Marine Drive, Colombo, is a gem for Indian food lovers in Sri Lanka. The ambiance is simple yet welcoming, and the service is prompt. We(2 of us) went for night light meal... ordered parotha with kurma and masala dosa, plain tea and filter coffee. Of the 2parothas served, one was ok and the other was very bad and had to be left. Upon detailed discussion it was revealed that the parothas were made in the afternoon 😭😭. The dosa was good. Masala chai was served instead of plain tea and when we brought it to their notice, we were met with a blank stare and a little later an angry look..since we didn't want to create a scene, just had it and ended the matter. Outside the hotel looks posh but inside interiors are very sad and ordinary. Cutlery are not clean. And sambhar was served in a cracked steel katori 😳 So if you enter , be mentally prepared, don't expect too much

Tasty and authentic Indian vegetarian cuisines. I loved their Parata, it had an authentic touch. Prices are bit high compared. Enjoyed their food. Service was good. They charge a 10% service charge. Should really consider improving their interior, no decorations and the seating was not so pleasant. Would visit again for their Parata.

Food was really really good; wish there were more options. We went everyday for 3 days for lunch and dinner. Thaali was really good and so was poori. Really wanted to try the tiffin but this wasn’t available for the time we went. Service was amazing. Really good customer service. Place to wash hands was clean, air con in the restaurant.

Mushroom biriyani was so good Chapathi set also fine, masala dosa average . Chatny no salt . We ordered Paneer butter masala but it’s Not butter masala it’s paneer spicy masala.

There is parking space available and a good amount of seating space too. The restaurant is clean with little to no decorations. There's a good amount of options in the menu but the prices are a bit expensive compared to other vegetarian restaurants. They also have some Indian sweets displayed at the entrance. The food was satisfactory as well as the quantity. However, the customer service was great, and their fresh juice was remarkable. Overall, it wasn't too bad, but not sure if I'd visit again. Air-conditioned vegetarian restaurant in the Sea Street area frequented by a decent crowd. They do have a wide variety of North and South Indian options to choose. Whenever I am in Colombo, I generally take meals from this place.

The portion size was adequate for an average adult, and the pricing was reasonable. The Prawns red curry was decent, but it felt slightly overpriced. I'm not entirely sure about its authenticity. ◇Service◇ The service staff were friendly and attentive. There was a slight delay in issuing the bill, likely because they were busy at the time. ◇Ambience◇ This is probably the most colourful restaurant I've visited so far in Colombo. The lighting and decor were fantastic, and the dining area was clean and well-maintained.

Absolutely fantastic, authentic Thai food for a great price. They have indoor seating - but a wonderful little courtyard too, where you can sit outside and still avoid the humidity, with a dedicated standing fan, for each table. For dinner, I had the Papaya Salad with Prawns, which was an incredibly generous portion, with a good quantity of large shrimp, and an excellent spice and flavour; and also the Seafood Omelette which was crispy, fluffy and fabulous. The staff too, were all incredibly attentive - even the chef came out to ask how I found it! Nice restaurant and the service was rather good. The food was tasty even though I ordered a pad thai and got stired fried noodles instead. But the prices are way too high... more than USD 40 for 1 entrance, 2 main dishes and 1 desert. Be careful the prices you see on the menu on Google are not the ones you end up paying.

This Thai place can easily customise vegetable options to be vegan and some of the vegetarian options are accidently vegan like the red and green curry we got the Kang Kung and tom yum. the tamarind juice was really nice too, is recommend it if you like wood apple, they're very familiar the tom yum was very flavorful and reasonably authentic, the Kang Kung would have benefited from the garlic being more lightly fried I feel

It was my first experience in a Thai restaurant. It was pretty good. We ordered batter-fried calamari and prawns as appetizers. Those were fried to perfection. For the mains, we had fried rice with different kinds of meats. Also ordered red and green curries. Those were pretty good too. And the tamarind drinks were the best in the night. We all loved it. Apart from the meals we had parking was a tiny problem since the premiss had lack of space for parking.

Stopped by for a Saturday lunch and tried the Pork Katsudon. The dish had decent flavors and tasted good overall. The portion size was adequate for an average appetite. However, I felt that neither the taste nor the portion size justified the Rs. 3700 price tag,even by Colombo 07 standards. The staff were friendly and welcoming, whic I was told the dish would be ready in 10 minutes, but it ended up taking around 20. That said, the ambience was fantastic, and there was plenty of room for parking, which was a definite plus point.

Went in for dinner with my husband and absolutely loved everything about the place! The ambience was warm and inviting, the staff were incredibly attentive, and the food—wow—just hit the spot for my sushi cravings. The ramen was light, flavorful, and extraordinary. The Mexican maki was out of this world—truly a must-try. Even the soya sauce had a unique depth that stood out. The dumplings were super fresh and light, leaving us wanting more with every bite. The food there is out of this world. I loved the peanut rice noodles, so tangy and flavorful. Could have easily eaten three portions. Also their hojicha latte was great. Awesome place for vegans, they serve oat milk and have lots of vegan options on the menu. Friendly and caring staff. Nice atmosphere & fast service.

Been there many times and it's the best coffee spot in Colombo. Very good and quality coffee, amazing and helpful staff (last time they helped me to set my grinder). Food is amazing - lots of vegetarian options which I appreciate, variety of sweet treats and you can buy the beans as well. Sometimes it's very crowded, especially on weekends, but I always found a spot to enjoy coffee here.

The food is amazing as well, with a range of sandwiches, pasta and healthy meals for winners. A must try is their Oat milk cold brew and Coconut matcha( thank me later) Finding seating may be difficult during Peak times. PS - it's not a place to work from either

Very cozy / modern café. Stoped here before leaving colombo to the airoport and it was great place to unwind. I had poached eggs croissant and coconut matcha foam both tasted really good and I loved the presentation. Special thanks to the friendly stuff who let me in 10 min before opening as I was standing in front of café with my backpack🫶🏻

Great food. Honestly incredible flavours. I could not recommend it enough. The coffee is delicious, however, they only do oat alternative milk and it would be good if they did another alternative for people with gluten allergies. Albeit, the coffee was still lovely as an americano. Thank you!!

This café offers a delightful menu featuring a variety of cakes, brownies, and coffee. The pricing is more affordable compared to similar spots. The cakes I tried were exceptional in taste. Customer service is friendly. However, it’s worth noting that there doesn’t appear to be an indoor dining area.

Update on Jan 2024: the frosting recipe seems to have changed lately. It’s been a while since I came here, so I don’t know when it started. The cupcake frosting is extremely sugary, and the butter flavor isn’t present at all. Some new essence has been added too which is unexpected and not very pleasant. Original review: Been buying little treats from here for years and just realized I haven’t reviewed it! It’s a lovely little cake shop, and their cupcakes, cakes and brownies have been consistently delicious over the years. No dry brownies here! The pack of mini cupcakes is the perfect treat for our kids’ impromptu little tea parties at home. The meringue cups are a tad too sweet for my taste but my kids love them. A tiny suggestion would be to mark prices on the name tags of the cakes.

The best cakes in Colombo. I love their cakes and desserts (CBP and Belgian Chocolate Mousse are top tier!). The Ultimate Chocolate Bliss is probably the best cake I've ever had. Their chocolate eclairs also are excellent. They are a local business. Their products are fresh, tasty and great value for money. The new location has proper parking and it's in a great location now. The Cake Factory is definitely one of the best places to buy cakes. I've visited several times and also ordered online, and I've always been pleased with the taste. The cakes are rich and flavorful, though I noticed they have more of an natural flavor than the artificial, fresh ingredient taste you’d expect from high-quality cakes. The price is a bit on the higher side, but considering the quality and the experience, it’s still quite reasonable. Overall, it’s a great choice for special occasions, just be aware of the slight difference in flavor compared to cakes made with purely natural ingredients.

One of the few places you know you can get a solid coffee. The food is pretty good too, we had multiple things which were all so tasty. Except the savory French toast which was a bit meh. Recommend keeping room for dessert! Service was a bit slow. Had to wait an hour to get our food

Nice and Unique This is a nice restaurant /coffee place. Love their unique menu. The good thing about their menu is that they got small portions for reasonable prices, so you do not have to worry about ordering something you dont like and not being able to order something else due to price factor. The prawn slider was delicious ... and the hot chocolate was amazing . That hot chocolate was just like the one i had in Italy. I have never ever had such a delicious hot chocolate in Colombo ever. Te placr is very spacious, comfortable and clean. You can spend ample time . The service was great. Eas access from public transport too. There is ample parking for private vehicles too Average menu price 450 - 800 per dish... there were few.large meals for about 1,100-1,500.

Best specialty coffee we found in Sri Lanka in 3 month. The owner absolutely passionate about coffee and real expert. He has numerous sorts of coffee. As we understood he runs trainings for baristas in best coffee places in town. Food is good, has a descent cheeses as ingredients. Croissant is real croissant and made in interesting local fusion way. The portions size is much more European than lankian) The prices are a bit high, but it goes with a territory))

Amazing coffee and wonderful host! Surprised to find a spot in Colombo that nails their espresso beverages and single origin/estate coffees! Tasty savory and sweet treats, but the coffee is the main attraction. Nim's barista experience, wealth of knowledge and passion shines through. It's too bad I visited at the end of my trip. Will be back early and often on my return!

Cozy place with a very pleasant ambience. It's very conveniently located right off high level and surprisingly quite and peaceful given the busy location. The owner is very friendly. Unfortunately I only went there for coffee with a friend so cannot comment on the food, but the menu looked very interesting. Their coffee is great ! Highly appreciate what they are doing to support local upcoming artists by showcasing their work for zero commission. Very impressed by that and will definitely return soon to check out the amazing menu. Keep up the great work.

If you are a real die-hard coffee lover - this place should be in your list. Especially if you really know what good coffee is. They have decent specialty options as far as espresso for single origin beans, like pour over, aeropress. The bites they offer are also decent. Don't expect big fulling portions - this place is not about full your stomach, it's about satisfy your receptors. Also nice local art in design and friendly owner to talk to are the subjects to enjoy this place.

Worst customer service in the entire world. Food is great but the lady at the counter has zero customer service experience. They are not on Uber eats or PickMe food even though they say they are - i have had to call them manually and ask them to update the app and they still say they can’t. Just now when I ask them to make an order that I will come pick it up the lady on the phone says she can’t take orders from the phone and can only do it when we come there. She always gives some sort of excuse and is it’s honestly the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced - as someone who genuinely liked the food there I have made a conscious effort now to never go there and have told many people about this because this woman has zero customer knowledge and therefore they just lost a customer who was willing to even come there and pay for a meal because they don’t offer delivery 😂

I stopped by here on a whim after visiting Geoffrey Bawa House and am so glad I did! The staff were very friendly, service quick, drinks refreshing and the home made cakes delicious! There is also a beautiful large outdoor garden space - when I visited there were two peacock guests. It was the perfect cool green oasis for a short break between walking around the city.

We went at a less busy time so was very quiet and calm. The food needs to be ordered from the counter but was served to us. The meals were super. And just the right portions, definitely worth the price. I appreciate the efficient and attentive service. The menu has a variety of options. Thank you

Ideal place for a meet up with friends or to have small celebrations. All the food we had there were great, delicious. They have vegetarian options and the mushroom waffle I had was amazing. Variety of food and coffee items were available. Loved the cafe macchiato. Service was also good and they have pretty clean washrooms. This place is highly recommend.

Away from the urban hustle , it’s a very nice place to meet your friends, chat and chill.this place can be recommended as a chill place to do your own office work too. The staff is very friendly and gives your own space. Food is average but nothing to complain of tho. I personally recommend the brownie ice cream (can’t remember the exact name). Prices are not too high and have space to park 4,5 vehicles

Nice place to hangout. Got a calm vibe and situated at a not so noisy place. Not so easy to find out if that’s your first time (no pun intended). They’ve got outdoor seating as well which is a plus if you want some natural air. Well maintained washrooms and the garden behind is a perfect spot to be seated on a not so sunny day. I visited Beira Kitchen for their dinner buffet during the September offer period. The appetizers were excellent, with a great variety and nice presentation. The sushi corner was a highlight for me – fresh and delicious! However, the dining area felt a bit cramped, with minimal space between tables, so we didn’t have much privacy. The selection of mains was a bit smaller than I expected, possibly due to the offer and high demand for reservations. The desserts were good, and I enjoyed them. The view from the restaurant is lovely, with a nice pool outside, adding to the ambiance. Overall, a good experience but could improve in terms of spacing and mains variety.

Their dine two offer is great. That makes them one of the cheapest buffets in town. It is value for money because the buffet spread has a good variety. Although it doesn't offer seafood dishes which are more expensive, there were meat and fish dishes. The salad and desert spreads were good but the soups were not tasty at all. Service was very attentive.

We went for dinner at the Marriott Hotel to celebrate a friend's birthday. Beira Kitchen's restaurant was well prepared and very Nice place to take a meal .It was a very good experience because of the friendliness of the staff. Also, the food was very tasty. All the desserts were very delicious. All the desserts caught our fancy. A small drawback here is that the food is a little late in filling. Overall this dinner was very good. Our special thanks go to them. Chamethya who took our reservation and gave a very kind service .Ms. Sachini Narada ,front office staff -Maneesha, chef -Sewwandi, Kasun and all . Every employee provided very good service.

We visited Courtyard by Marriott Colombo for a buffet dinner recently, and unfortunately, the overall experience left us quite disappointed. To begin with, the buffet spread was underwhelming, especially when compared to other luxury hotels in Colombo that offer far better variety and quality. The selection was minimal, with only a handful of meat items and a noticeable absence of seafood like prawns. Most of the meats were served without appropriate sauces or accompaniments, which made the dishes bland and lacking flavor. For a hotel operating under the Marriott brand, this was a huge letdown. Another major issue was the seating arrangement. We had made a prior reservation for a table for two, but when we arrived, we were placed in a very congested area. We politely requested a change of table, as there were several visibly empty tables around, but the staff refused, citing all tables were reserved. The response was not only unhelpful but also came off as quite rude and dismissive. It made us feel very unwelcome and certainly not like valued guests. What was most disheartening was their lack of hospitality regarding a simple birthday request. Since we were celebrating a birthday, my fiancée asked if they could bring a small slice of cake with a candle just to mark the occasion. We were told that it had to be ordered through their coffee shop at the time. In our past experiences at other hotels, this was always handled with warmth and generosity – a small gesture that makes a big difference. Sadly, that warmth was missing here. If there was one saving grace, it would be the dessert section. The variety was decent, and the pannacotta, in particular, was excellent. However, that alone doesn’t justify the rest of the experience. Overall, we left feeling very disappointed. The poor buffet spread, unwelcoming service, and lack of basic hospitality make this a place we wouldn’t recommend or revisit. Compared to how other five-star hotels treat their guests—especially on special occasions—Courtyard by Marriott Colombo fell far below expectations.

I got two paper dose with wade & two marakkari rotti. Dose - burned or over cooked Wade - un cooked Marakkari roti - has a hair My friends & relatives highly recommended me this place but am highly recommending not to visit their place. We can see the grill from hand wash area- masala dose masala has no lid. Grill - has burned in to dark black Road side shop grill is better than this grill. In front they keep statue vibudhi and pottu But back side is opposite of it. Funniest thing is server forgot to tell my order to kitchen. I was waiting for more than 15 minutes for my order. I show the waiter in my vegetable rotti has a hair- his reaching like I put it and throwing in front of me to the garbage bin

I especially loved their paper dosa 👌it’s one of my favorite dishes here, with an absolutely amazing taste.🤩 However, I was quite disappointed with their customer service😕The waiters didn’t seem to know how to interact with customers properly, which was very upsetting. This is just my honest opinion taste-wise, it’s definitely a five-star experience⭐️, but the service really needs improvement.

I've visited Hotel Amirtha several times over the years, hoping for consistency, but the experience has been quite mixed. While it's a vegetarian hotel with a decent variety, the food quality often doesn't meet expectations. A few times the meals were okay, but most of the time, the taste and freshness were disappointing. One particular incident really stood out — I once bought some sweets that tasted completely off. When I called to give feedback, the staff (especially the waiter who responded) was quite rude and unprofessional. This kind of customer service really puts people off from coming back. There is potential, but consistency in food quality and better customer service are much needed. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve.
