Cafe
Cafe Kumbuk is a popular spot in the upscale Cinnamon Gardens area, near attractions like the National Museum and Independence Square. It's highly regarded among expats and is known for its great coffee, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere with a Sri Lankan aesthetic. The cafe also features an outdoor terrace and a shop selling ethical Sri Lankan souvenirs. Emphasizing healthy, sustainable living, Cafe Kumbuk uses fresh, local produce for its ever-changing menu.
Gorgeous little cafe tucked away near the museum. Had the prawn taco and a passion-mint tea - the flavours were amazing. They really use local flavours with fan favourite dishes. Harith, who was serving made great reccomendations and was so kind. I really reccommend this cafe for a relaxed lunch or if ypu need to remote work for a few hours.

If you’re looking for a cozy little escape from the city’s hustle, this café is the perfect spot. Tucked away in the middle of Colombo, it blends comfort and nature beautifully while serving up food that truly delights. Since the day they opened, they’ve stayed true to their concept and branding, which I really admire. The menu has something for everyone, including vegans, and the variety is impressive. The staff is friendly, service is good, and the food is consistently tasty. From their current menu, I have to say the mango pancakes are an absolute favorite of mine — highly recommended! It’s definitely a place I’d love to visit again and again. One small suggestion for the management: the outdoor seating area tends to attract a few mosquitoes and flies. Maybe adding some bug-repellent plants could help make it even more enjoyable. Other than that, everything is spot on.
Kalpi S — Google review
TLDR: Ridiculously good food and matcha, and the friendliest staff ever! Cafe Kumbuk is located on the ground floor of a cosy building, with indoor seating as well as a lovely front and back yard. They also have a cool merchandise store. We stayed at Srilax, which is Cafe Kumbuk’s cute accommodation option on the floor just above the cafe itself - super convenient for breakfast and lunch. The staff are extremely sweet and went above and beyond to make our visit comfortable. Huge shoutout to Harith, Raj, and Mr. Buddhika!! If you’re in Colombo, swing by this place, you won’t regret it.

Highly recommended Cafe Kumbuk 🤗 Ten of us had a wonderful breakfast experience at this cozy cafe. Starting from making the reservation to, finding us parking spots to, serving good food to our oveall experience was very good. They have decent spread of food covering meat lovers, Vegans, Vegetarians. Tasty food, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Look a like they are very busy on weekends, better to make a reservation in advance.
Sithari S — Google review
food was okay, we got this pineapple rice dessert and it was really good but the pineapple on top did not do any good. we got pancake and it was burnt on the bottom but they made sure to get us a new pancake set and their customer service was above and beyond. i also got the banana matcha and it was okay. but overall really liked their customer service, they were so nice.

An absolute gem in Sri Lanka! 🌟 It’s only my second day here in Sri Lanka, and I’m already completely in love with this café. The place is immaculately maintained and has such a classy, elegant vibe — you genuinely feel like you’ve stepped into a calm, beautifully curated world. A special shoutout to Anjali and Harith — and honestly, the entire staff — for being so warm, courteous, and attentive. Their hospitality just elevates the whole experience. From the ambience, to the food quality, to the service — everything here is exceptional. If someone from India (or anywhere!) is planning a trip and wants something truly extraordinary, especially for a perfect breakfast experience, this café is a must, must, must, must, must try! ✨ Loved every moment here — can’t wait to return! 💛

You might have choices in cafes but you should NOT miss this place. Tucked away in a little street off Independence Ave, it was a welcomed stop off for brunch on Sunday after wandering around the park. We had the avocado toast served with yummy passionfruit salsa (prepared by chef), great coffee, all served in a lovely lush ambiance set in their patio garden. Very eco conscious with no plastics used and recycling. Friendly and efficient - thank you. Would I go again - yes, yes, yes!

It’s a great place to hang out with friends — very calm with a really good vibe. You can spend your time peacefully here. They offer a nice variety of meals and drinks, and if you’re a food lover, this is a must-visit spot. The staff is friendly, and they even have merchandise you can buy.

Black Cat Cafe + Stay is a charming spot in Colombo, known for its homemade ginger beer and pet-friendly policy. Situated in the upscale Cinnamon Gardens, this establishment is housed in a beautifully restored 1920s mansion. The cafe's interior exudes a minimalist, vintage-cool vibe that patrons love. In addition to serving coffee made from locally roasted beans, Black Cat Cafe also offers bed and breakfast accommodation, making it a convenient choice for travelers looking for a cozy place to stay.
I was looking for a quiet spot to have coffee and unwind after a long day, and this cafe did not disappoint. The service was great, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The coffee was good, and the atmosphere felt welcoming and cozy. It’s a very chill space, almost like a little safe haven away from the chaos outside. Would definitely come back when I need a breather

Wonderful room, AC is nice, very clean. The cafe - absolutely incredible. Very cozy and superb style and food. The lady who manages the cafe was also super nice! 100% recommend
Baldian W — Google review
We visited Black Cat Cafe for a cup of coffee. And flat white was beyond expectations. It was really "hot" (I prefer my coffee to be that hot so I can slowly dig into it otherwise it will be at the room temperature within seconds). Also it comes with a little chocolate cookie which has a white chocolate core. The staff was helpful and friendly. We were treated well. I do not know that boy's name (curly haired) who served us, but I wanted to appreciate his gentleman's gesture that he deliberately passed my boyfriend to serve me first. Felt like a lady. Parking space is limited.

Loved this place. Came here on our first morning in Colombo. Great coffee, alternative milk options. Wish we’d had time to try the food they had lots of options. Also the decor was just lovely and homely and interesting. Could have relaxed here for ages!
Hannah A — Google review
Stopped by for a coffee on a Sunday afternoon and tried their popular flat white coffee. Flat white has a decent aroma and flavour. Service was decent. They charged me an extra 20% for dining in when paying by card, which I found exorbitant and unreasonable. The ambience was cozy and relaxing however, at the time of my visit, most the tables were occupied by foreigners working on their laptops.
Dineshsanth — Google review
We were waiting for our friends in a cafe. Such a chill spot. Great coffee, lots of character, and the vibe was super relaxed. The walls are full of cool vintage posters, there's a shelf packed with books. Perfect for working, reading, or just taking a break. There is also an outside terrace. Definitely coming back.
Galit S — Google review
Very authentic cafe with a vintage-artsy vibe. The menu is surprisingly wide for such a small place, which is good 👍 Coffee is excellent, 5/5. Not a huge selection of desserts, but what they have is good. There’s also a cozy outdoor seating area. Tried the Black beef burger. Not bad, but heads up, they’re tiny. You’ll probably want two 😄

Really enjoy my time here. Great coffee, light music, and the vibe is cosy with attentive staff. Couldn’t ask for more. Will definitely come back.

Cafe
Barefoot Garden Cafe is a popular spot for brunch and relaxation, attracting both locals and tourists. It's set in a charming stone-paved courtyard surrounded by a lush frangipani garden. The cafe offers more than just food, with an impressive bookshop featuring Sri Lankan authors, a fashion store showcasing hand-woven fabrics, and an art gallery hosting cultural events like film screenings and poetry readings.
This place has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with a strong cultural vibe. The food from the kitchen is tasty, and the overall ambiance is pleasant. The staff is friendly, the service is good, and the menu offers something for everyone at a fair price. If you're interested in art, you can also visit the Barefoot Gallery nearby. The place has a nice mix of classic and authentic charm. It's a good spot for anyone who appreciates art and a relaxed setting.

✅ Part of the famous Barefoot boutique. ✅ Food is delicious, wide variety to select. ✅ Easy accessibility and parking available. ✅ Spacious. ⚠️️ Staff need more training on serving the customers. ⚠️️ Price of food and beverage are bit high. ⚠️️ Should focus more on maintenance and cleanliness, specially because the tabels are arranged outdoors. 🟢 Recommended
Randima S — Google review
I visited Barefoot Garden Café in Colombo, and it was honestly one of the best café experiences I’ve had — a true 10/10! I ordered the lamb burger with yogurt and mint, which was perfectly seasoned and so satisfying. The spinach quiche was equally delicious, and the crème brûlée was just divine — rich with the perfect touch of sweetness. What made me especially happy was finding milk tea served with condensed milk — something so rare these days, and it felt like home ❤️ The service was friendly and helpful. It took a little effort to get attention at first, but once I did, the staff gave great recommendations and were happy to find replacements or offer solutions when asked. The ambience was calm and welcoming. The café is part of the larger Barefoot brand, which includes a boutique selling beautiful souvenirs, clothing, and even a bookshop — all high-quality products at fair prices. Some might find it slightly expensive, but the quality truly justifies the cost. The nearby toilet was also clean and well-equipped, which I appreciated. I loved that the café is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city — it’s in an enclosed area, quiet and private, which makes it perfect for a relaxed afternoon. Overall, Barefoot Garden Café is an absolute gem — peaceful atmosphere, wonderful food, and a unique concept that combines culture, shopping, and dining all in one place. Highly recommend this spot for anyone visiting Colombo!

It's been one of this essential Colombo experience! The food here is great, love the ambiance and decorations all around. There is a part where it functions like an art gallery. A part thag sells their famous products made frok cotton. A good selections of books and art works on sales. Do buy their nice stuff toys made from cotton, in various shapes and sizes. They sell clothing too, it bear the iconic look, people can recognize them from this gallery. This is one of the places I get gifts for friends.

Barefoot Garden Cafe is a gem that never disappoints! I’ve visited quite a few times, and each experience has been consistently above par. The food is delicious, the ambiance is warm and inviting, and the staff are friendly. I was pleasantly surprised that they have a few vegan options available that I actually like, making it a great spot for friends with different dietary preferences. Plus, if you’re into art, the nearby Barefoot Gallery is definitely worth a visit. A perfect place to relax, enjoy good food, and soak in a creative vibe!
Kavinda D — Google review
An Oasis of Good Vibes, Great Food, and Jazz Barefoot Garden Cafe is a must-visit gem in the heart of Colombo. Tucked away beautifully within the Barefoot showroom, this cafe is an urban sanctuary that masterfully blends a relaxed, beach-close atmosphere with an artistic, bustling energy. The garden setting is superb—it's incredibly cozy and spacious, with plenty of shade from the lush tropical greenery. It’s the kind of place that instantly makes you feel relaxed and world's away from the city hustle. The food and drinks are truly delicious. Everything that comes out of the bar and kitchen is fresh, flavorful, and a delight. Whether you're craving a quick bite or a full meal, their menu delivers on quality. What makes the experience even better is the attentive and friendly staff. The service is excellent, making sure you feel welcome and well looked after from the moment you sit down. The undisputed highlight is the Sunday Jazz evening. There is nothing quite like enjoying a meal and a drink under the stars while listening to fantastic live music. It transforms the already lovely garden into a magical, unforgettable experience. If you’re in Colombo, do yourself a favor and make time for a visit. It’s the perfect spot for lunch, a chill afternoon, or a lively Sunday night.
Lilantha K — Google review
We visited Barefoot Garden Cafe on the last day of our stay in Colombo and we’re sad we had to leave early to catch our flight! We visited on Sunday, which seemed the busiest day since they have live jazz in the afternoons. It was packed, but we managed to get a seat within a few minutes. They didn’t seem to have a lot of staff, but they were doing a good job of seeing all tables. The cafe’s vibe is very calm - spacious backyard area with greenery, and the jazz totally enhanced the vibe. They have a lovely store and art gallery as well. They sell a wide variety of items - books, handmade clothes and ornaments, skincare, tea, etc. Some are a bit pricey, but their quality is good. Would recommend swinging by for an afternoon if you’re in Colombo!

🌿 Review for Barefoot Garden Café, Colombo 🌿 Such a peaceful and beautiful spot in the middle of the city! I really enjoyed my visit — the atmosphere is calm and relaxing, surrounded by greenery and lovely décor. I had a refreshing iced tea, a rich and comforting hot chocolate, and a really good rice dish — everything was delicious and well-prepared. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and it’s the perfect place to unwind, chat, or enjoy a quiet meal. Definitely one of my favorite cafés in Colombo! 💚☕🍃

Butter Boutique is a popular destination in Colombo, known for its delectable cakes and sweet treats. What started as a home-based bakery has now expanded to two brick-and-mortar locations. The Tres Leches cake is a standout item, soaked in three types of milk and topped with whipped cream. In addition to an array of cakes, the boutique also offers sweet rolls, brownies, and Australian Niccolo coffee.
Butter Boutique is the perfect place to enjoy Tres Leches and a wide variety of delicious cakes. The food and beverages are not only tasty but also of high quality. The café offers ample space for dining in, and the quiet, pleasant atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to relax and unwind.

Amazing location and atmosphere at this outlet! Friendly staff and very welcoming. The cake selections were really good from various varieties and flavours. The Trés Leches cake was really good. Very well balanced and light. The Biscoff cake was also amazing but a bit on the sweeter side. For the price, the portion sizes were good. Would highly recommend this place for casual hangouts or even dates. Definitely would revisit.

Butter Boutique, Rosmead Place: Nom Nom Navigator Check-in! Keeping it simple today—it was a mixed experience! The place itself is great; the coffee culture is definitely thriving here—it's very nice and fresh. Chicken Lasagna (Rs 1,950.00): 10/10! Absolute winner. Fresh, tasty, and great portion. Would reorder instantly. BBQ Chicken Wrap (Rs 2,450.00): 6/10. Decent size, but way too expensive for what it is. Iced Matcha Latte (Rs 1,300.00): 5/10. Overpriced and but disappointing. If you're seeking the full, authentic matcha experience, I would not suggest this but was a refreshing sweet treat Finished off with the Tres Leches (Slice) for Rs 1,650.00! A perfectly refreshing sweet treat. What's your Butter Boutique must-try? 👇 Nom Nom Navigator |Cafe Reviews | Butter Buttique

Butter Boutique – Sweet Heaven in Colombo! Butter Boutique never disappoints! I tried the banana matcha and honestly, it deserves 1000/10 – absolutely mind-blowing. So unique, perfectly balanced, and just melts in your mouth. The tres leches was also amazing – super soft, creamy, and full of flavor. Definitely a 10/10 dessert. And let’s not forget – they serve some of the best coffee in town. Smooth, rich, and just the right strength. If you’ve got a sweet tooth or just want a solid coffee fix, Butter Boutique is the place to be. Highly recommend!

This café offers a wide range of desserts, coffees, and beverages with an aesthetically pleasing interior. However, I found it a bit overrated and overpriced as the food didn’t meet expectations. It gets crowded, especially in the afternoons, but still worth a visit.

Overall a good experience at the shop. The cakes were amazing. We got the Oreo cake and the pistachio cheese cake both were not too Rich but it was very delicious ❤️❤️. Drinks I dont remember the names in the image the drink with the red straw was delicious it had some fudge name on it 😅..the other with he normally white straw was very very bad it had a artificial flavor to it. That drink had some frostini name. Will go for the cakes again. The atmosphere was great. Loved the deco and the colors.

Butter Boutique is a true treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. Their cakes are absolutely delicious, though slightly on the pricier side—but completely worth it! I especially love the Tres Leches, the Arabian Knight, and the Double Chocolate Fudge Cake. Every bite is rich, indulgent, and perfectly crafted. A must-visit for cake lovers!

Love everything about BB. Their staff are very kid and helpful. They are always smiling and that’s a big win for BB. Their food is really yummy though Iam not a fan of sugary stuff. I tried their matcha rose syrup drink today and I was mesmerized. And not to forget their coffee; they are the best. One of the 2 coffee shops I know that mixes the perfect milk to coffee ratio. Kudos to BB for everything

Coffee shop
London House of Coffee in Colombo is a serene and spacious spot, perfect for those seeking a peaceful environment to focus on work. While the menu may not be extensive, this café is renowned for its excellent coffee and delectable milkshakes. The ambiance is cozy, with ample seating and friendly service. Additionally, the café offers English-inspired dishes such as eggs benedict and chicken pot pie. Although prices are typical for a coffee house, some find the portions slightly pricey.
Have been coming here for many years. It has its moments. Upstairs is quite Cosy with different chair options. Seating is available for couples, groups..etc. (outdoor area is also available. If you are not a smoker like me, you might not like it) Food quality and options vary. They need to get that sorted as it’s inconsistent each visit. Dessert options (cakes, tarts, brownies), savoury options, pasta, coffee, tea, shakes.. and some more options available. I recommend the grilled cheese toast and the egg and cheese pastry, which was surprisingly good. Parking is a bit of an issue.
Thisara T — Google review
We were in the neighborhood and we ended up going to London House of Coffee on 27 April 2025 as we wanted to grab coffee and a quick bite. We went and placed the order and went upstairs as they said that they will bring the order to us. We waited for some time and as the food and the coffee still didn’t arrive, we once again went downstairs to check what was happening and to figure out the reason for the delay. It seemed like they were doing their own work and have forgotten about our order. When we told them that it was getting late for us then they said that they’ll bring the food and the coffee fast. We actually got the food and the coffee some time after complaining about the delay. We ordered one cafe latte and an iced americano along with the food. Both the coffees were burnt and they tasted horrible (actually tasted like drinking charcoal). The taste of food that we ordered was average. Considering the other coffee shops in Colombo, London House of Coffee charge a higher price and it’s really disappointing when you cannot even serve a good cup of coffee to your customers for the price you charge. There were couple of girls working on that day and we clearly noticed that they had not been trained properly and they had no idea of what they were doing either. More than anything they were in a rush to get done with work and to leave. We left the place by leaving the coffees as it was as it was undrinkable. Definitely this is not a place worth visiting again.
Kalpani K — Google review
From my teenage days this is my favorite coffee shop. Last year when I visited Sri Lanka in September, me and my friend visited the coffee place. Still I’m impressed with the quality of the coffee and the food and also the atmosphere. Really enjoyed.

I highly recommend this place for enjoying a nice cup of coffee in a calm and peaceful atmosphere. It’s a great spot for working on your laptop while maintaining a relaxed mindset. The atmosphere is pleasant, the food is delicious, and the service is excellent. I have visited this place two or three times and had an amazing experience each time.. Good place to have business meetings.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ✨ 4.5/5 Stars – Cozy Café with Great Veggie Options & Parking Convenience London House of Coffee is one of Colombo’s more inviting cafés: a serene, tastefully decorated spot with plush seating, dark-wood accents, and a peaceful balcony that instantly calms the mind. As someone who prefers vegetarian options, I was delighted by their Paneer (cheese cottage) puff—a flaky, savory pastry that pairs perfectly with their rich, in-house roasted coffees. The menu offers a good mix of drinks and light meals—everything from velvety cappuccinos and caramel lattes to organic smoothies and veggie quiches. The service is genuinely warm and knowledgeable, and the fact that there’s some roadside parking makes it even more accessible—no Colombo parking stress here. The only slight downsides? The prices are on the higher side (though that’s expected for the setting), and on rare occasions, items may run out or arrive lukewarm. But even with that, the overall experience—cozy ambiance, thoughtful offerings for vegetarians, and excellent coffee—makes London House of Coffee a delightful stop. Ideal for relaxing chats, solo work, or a quiet afternoon indulgence.
Sathieeswaran M — Google review
I highly recommend this place . London House of Coffee is an absolute gem that effortlessly blends charm, quality, and comfort into one unforgettable experience. From the moment i stepped inside, you’re greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels like a cozy escape from the bustle of everyday life. The interior is tastefully decorated with a mix of modern elegance and rustic charm, creating the perfect setting for everything from casual catch-ups to quiet solo moments. The coffee itself is exceptional—rich, aromatic, and brewed to perfection, with a variety of blends that cater to every palate. Whether you’re a fan of bold espresso shots or creamy lattes, their baristas consistently deliver with skill and passion. The food menu is equally impressive, offering a delightful range of pastries, sandwiches, and brunch options that are both delicious and beautifully presented. Service is top-notch: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making every visit feel personal and special. It’s clear that London House of Coffee takes pride in every detail, from the quality of their ingredients to the ambiance they create. It’s not just a coffee shop it’s a place that makes you want to linger, savor, and return again and again.

We really enjoyed our visit today., the coffee shake, iced latte, scrambled croissant, and egg club sandwich were all excellent! The staff were very friendly, polite, and professional throughout our time there.

My visit was on 17th Jan 2024. I loved the ambiance. It really gives the atmosphere of coffee house in UK. The food and beverages are overly priced. Portion sizes aren’t worth the money. Calm and quiet place. Nicely arranged furniture with a reading corner. They provided coffee with sugar to my surprise.

Whight & Co Cafe, situated on Marine Drive with a picturesque ocean view, is housed in a charming colonial building. It has become a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The cafe offers freshly baked muffins and cookies, along with excellent lunch salads at reasonable prices. With friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere, it's an ideal place to enjoy morning coffee or evening meals. The cafe also provides dining options on the first floor and features high chairs for guests' convenience.
The new location has both indoor and outdoor seating options. It has a cozy and a warm environment. Ideal for a person to work. The portion sizes are average, most of the dishes are prepared from scratch hence tastes homely and delicious. Loved the fish and chips. The pancakes and fruit were also delicious. The coffee is authentic and prepared from fresh coffee beans. The hot chocolate comes with sugar syrup on the side, it was the only thing not up to expectations. The staff is friendly and helpful. Offered help when the salt shaker was not working when they noticed it which was really thoughtful.

Went for so long when you guys were at marine drive. Great food. Tasty cheese cake and superb coffee. Now I have been going to Alfred house . Really nice staff there who make everything so pleasant. What draws me there often is the star of the show your peaberry . What a tasty espresso . My favourite .

Whight & Co is a beloved cafe in Colombo, Sri Lanka, famous for its locally grown coffee. The cafe offers an array of beautifully presented coffee options and a menu featuring items like burger sliders, tamarind chilli prawns, and more. Previously located on Marine Drive, Whight & Co. has now moved to Alfred House Lane. I started visiting this place in October 2016 and quickly fell in love with their coffee and English breakfast. The food is excellent, and the staff is warm and welcoming, making it feel like a home away from home. Whenever I return to India, I always carry their coffee powder with me. I would be thrilled if they opened a branch in India. Some must-try items include their cold brew, avocado toast, and seafood dishes.

This was (note ‘was’) a place I enjoyed my daily coffee. (Flat white) I was proud to see local 100% Arabica being roasted and served. The baristas were very friendly, gave great service and knew the job. I love to support boutique businesses rather than big chains. Especially if it involves homegrown produce. The coffee is very good and I had plans to travel back with several Kgs of coffee beans. Then suddenly one day when I went for my usual Flat White, I got a very diluted coffee like a cappuccino. I knew it was a single shot of coffee and not two. When I asked the Barista if he forgot to put the second shot of espresso, very meekly he said “we’ve been told to put only one shot of espresso in the flat white”!! He was very apologetic and said he knew that a flat white is supposed to have 2 shots, but ‘management’ (lady owner) had specifically instructed them to put only one shot of espresso going forward!! Such a shame. Everything was perfect before ‘management’ interference. Secondly, ‘management’ is teaching the baristas to do the wrong thing? Insisting that a flat white should only have one shot? How terrible is that. Being ignorant is one thing, but to force your ignorance on knowledgable and experienced staff is a crime. What a shame. Owners - Your stubborn and ignorance lost a good customer and business.

It’s a small cafe with few tables. Their coffee is nice. But we bought 2 water bottles and it cost 990lkr. Price is mentioned on the bottle as 90lkr. Selling it to an absurd price. It’s just a normal water bottle and it’s absolutely ridiculous. Such a rip off! Also Wifi doesn’t work.

Walked in causally on a Saturday evening. The place had a couple of guests, thats all. Good ambience. I believe they have dining on the first floor as well. They have high chairs too. They had a good tune running in the background. Staff were very helpful, courteous and pleasant mannered. The cost is ok, not that high. The food is good. I had the Crumbed Calamari with Wasabi Aioli and the Chicken Schnitzel Burger, along with a coffee milkshake. Overall the taste is good. The portion size is filling too.

Coco Veranda is a beloved coffee shop in Colombo, renowned for its top-quality gourmet coffee made from Filicori beans imported from Bologna. This popular spot offers an extensive menu of food and beverages, providing visitors with a wide array of options to choose from. It's a favorite among locals and tourists alike, making it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to enjoy delicious coffee and delectable treats in the heart of Colombo.
The best part is that they don’t charge a service fee. The atmosphere is lovely, spacious and inviting with plenty of parking available. Customer service is top-notch, and their menu goes beyond just coffee. I tried the Seafood Mongolian Rice (regular portion) and the Chicken Mushroom Soup, both of which were delicious. The highlight was definitely the heavenly Chocolate and Milo milkshake. However, the Milo milkshake didn’t have a strong Milo flavor as expected. The Lemon and Mint Crush was also enjoyable, especially with the added sugar syrup. Overall, a great place with a unique and satisfying menu!

Place is easy to find. Very limited parking. As you enter the restaurant it's very relaxing. Menu is simple and easy to navigate. Drinks and coffee menu is same as other places, but it's fresh and quality. Ordered the meat platter which was quite filling. Fish and chips was nicely done and pasta was cooked on point. Service was moderate and food made the table within 20min. It's a clean and tidy place. Since it was a weekend it wasn't crowded at all and parking was very easy. I'm sure during weekdays it will be packed. Overall I would give it a solid 8.2/10 & I would recommend this place

Great Food, Great Value, and a Super Smooth Digital Experience! I recently visited Tea Avenue Jawatte and had such a positive experience! The entire staff was super friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in.The new digitalized ordering system is truly a game-changer. It was really easy,we just had to scan the QR code, choose exactly what we needed, and then had the option to pay online by card or pay at the counter with the new digitalized system. The efficiency was amazing; even though it was a bit busy at the moment we walked in, this system made placing our order quick, and our food was ready super fast, landing on our table within minutes.A big shout-out to Ishen and his colleagues for introducing the digital menu to us and ensuring we were comfortable with the process. That level of service, combined with the convenience, really sets them apart. On top of the great tech and service, the food delivered! The portion sizes were really good, and honestly, the food and beverages were totally worth the price. Great value all around. Highly recommend checking this place out!

I recently made a special order for red velvet cheesecake which was one of their best cakes. I tasted the cake, it was not as good as it used to be before, the red velvet cheesecake supposed to have sponge cake with sugar syrup but this time it had normal butter cake, also the cream cheese frosting was quite less, anyway I was half way happy with the frosting. Hope your quality improves. The standard of TEA AVENUE has regressed so much 😕 I felt it was not worth for the price, cheesecakes are expensive due to their cream cheese, but this cake had more of cake and less of cream cheese :(( Compare pic 1 and pic 2 ( pic one the cake that I had before and pic 2 the cake I got yesterday)

Caramel Pumpkin in Colombo is a popular spot for group study or collaborative work sessions. Although it's not the most budget-friendly option, the prices are typical for a cafe and the food quality is highly regarded. The cafe offers a lively atmosphere with ample space, making it ideal for meeting up with study partners or holding brainstorming meetings. Despite being busy, it still manages to provide a comfortable environment for productive discussions and work sessions.
Caramel Pumpkin Café is a lovely spot with quite good food — the “Night in Bangkok” (chicken green curry with rice) was a real highlight. It’s also a great place for group study and discussions, with a calm and comfortable atmosphere.

The ambience is cozy and perfect for hangouts. You're also able to scan the menu and place an order while remaining in your seat without having to visit the counter. The customer service was great. The Blueberry Cheesecake was delicious. The biscuit layer could be eaten just by itself and the cream cheese layer was perfect to scoop up and indulge with the blueberry topping. The cappuccino was pretty good, too, but the portion size of the pasta was disappointing. However, it was worth going and would like to try more of their desserts. Thank you for your service..!

The Perfect Spot for a Get-Together! I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a comfortable and quality spot to meet up with friends or family. First off, the location is incredibly convenient. Being in such a prominent area, you might expect crowding, but it's surprisingly easygoing and spacious. A huge bonus is the ample parking—finding a spot is never an issue, which makes planning a get-together stress-free. The food and drinks are genuinely great; everything we ordered was fresh, well-prepared, and deliciously flavorful. This isn't just a place to eat, it's a place to enjoy what you're eating. What really sealed the deal was the excellent customer service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. Overall, it's the ideal setting for a relaxed and fun hangout. Great food, great service, and fantastic accessibility. We'll definitely be back!

This review is long overdue, since my first visit happened. The photos are a collection from across the years. One of the few places in Colombo where you can find non-fat milk, for which I am really grateful! 🙌🤗 ☕️ The minimalist decor, the variety on offer - on both the beverage and the food menus - is a big plus point. Staff is quick and efficient. However you need some time to get their attention if it’s at peak time. Food is great. Beverages are quite good too. But the roast chicken needs to improve quite a bit (too dry and bland chefs!). If you have an iPhone, WiFi access has a small tweak to set up - get the help of their staff for it 🙂 Ideal for an early morning visit. Keep up the great work 👏

Can’t go wrong with anything you order. I’ve been there so many times now and it’s consistently good! The prices are very steep though. If you grab food and drinks be prepared to drop ~10k for two people. But if you’re just grabbing a coffee or a matcha to sit and work, it’s not gonna break the bank. The food is honestly so good that you can’t help but order.

The desserts need much improving. The chocolate biscuit pudding and chocolate brownie mousse are pretty okay. The red velvet cake on the other hand was pretty bad- very dry and tasteless. Ordered the Pesto and chicken Bagel Burger and Vietnamese Iced coffee. The pesto sauce was drizzled in the plate and not inside of the burger which I was fine with since I'm not a pesto sauce fan. The presentation of the bagel burger was excellent. The burger overall was average. The Vietnamese Iced coffee was good but don't expect it to be similar to the authentic. The seating and ambience was chill and good place to hangout with friends and family. You have to self order and the waiters are friendly and good service. The tax and service charge is included in the menu price of the item. There's enough free parking

One of the best brunch spots in town with absolutely incredible food and drinks! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, vibrant, and welcoming — the perfect setting for a relaxed weekend brunch. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared with obvious care and creativity. The menu is thoughtfully designed, offering a perfect balance of comforting classics and inventive new dishes that make every visit exciting. We started with the Seed of Life Big Breakfast, which was a feast on a plate — perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, flavorful sausages, and freshly toasted bread, all plated beautifully. The Beef Benny Croissant was another standout, with tender slices of beef, silky hollandaise, and a buttery croissant that melted in the mouth. Every bite was simply delightful! The drinks were equally impressive. The Salted Caramel Latte was rich and smooth, with just the right hint of sweetness, while the Dark Chocolate Mocha offered deep, indulgent flavors that paired perfectly with our meal. Overall, this place nails every aspect of a great brunch — from presentation and taste to service and atmosphere. Whether you’re catching up with friends, celebrating something special, or just treating yourself, this spot is an absolute winner. Highly recommend! 🍴

Came here with my friends for a hearty brunch and It absolutely did not disappoint. What we ordered was the beef benni, Pesto & Chicken bagel burger, butternut squash Roti stack with grilled mushroom and Red pepper hummus toast. For beverages we had the vietnamese coffee and the strawberry Matcha Among the main dishes the beef benni was absolutely delish. However if you want a safe option, the bagel is the choice. Regardless it's a Flavor bomb in your mouth. The drinks personally I enjoyed the matcha however the Vietnamese coffee with the a variety of spices really elevated the flavor. That's definitely recommended. Lastly the customer service was as expected. Polite, welcoming with a friendly atmosphere I would however like a minor update to the menu, that is to split the drinks menu where the chocolate and matcha options are together. Adding on Matcha chocolate would be a great addition to the menu.

Brunch restaurant
The Grind Coffeehouse is a recent addition to Colombo's dining scene, offering beautifully presented meals and quality coffee. Their menu features items like avocado on toasted sourdough, omelette with quinoa kale salad, and superfood granola bowl, making it an ideal spot for breakfast or brunch. Notably, they also provide a variety of vegan options in a city where such choices can be limited.
Grind Colombo continues to impress with its vibrant flavors, thoughtful plating, and exceptional service. Every dish we tried was not just delicious it was a feast for the eyes, carefully plated with artistic flair and bursting with color. Each bite offered layers of flavor that reflect the chef’s attention to detail and passion for quality. The coffee? Outstanding. It’s rare to find a place in Colombo that consistently delivers such rich, smooth, and well-balanced coffee and Grind has truly mastered it. What truly stood out was the incredible customer service. Despite facing unexpected power cuts during our visit, the team remained gracious, transparent, and accommodating. They offered thoughtful alternatives and continuously checked in on us with sincere apologies for the delays. Honestly, they didn’t need to we completely understood the situation but their professionalism made a lasting impression. Grind isn’t just a café; it’s an experience. From the beautifully plated food to the warm service and inviting atmosphere, it’s clear that every detail is designed with care. Highly recommended whether you’re catching up with a friend or simply treating yourself to something special.

The food there is out of this world. I loved the peanut rice noodles, so tangy and flavorful. Could have easily eaten three portions. Also their hojicha latte was great. Awesome place for vegans, they serve oat milk and have lots of vegan options on the menu. Friendly and caring staff. Nice atmosphere & fast service.

Been there many times and it's the best coffee spot in Colombo. Very good and quality coffee, amazing and helpful staff (last time they helped me to set my grinder). Food is amazing - lots of vegetarian options which I appreciate, variety of sweet treats and you can buy the beans as well. Sometimes it's very crowded, especially on weekends, but I always found a spot to enjoy coffee here.

One of Colombo's best coffees and Matcha. A palace to meet your friends to catch-up or for a quick coffee break. The food is amazing as well, with a range of sandwiches, pasta and healthy meals for winners. A must try is their Oat milk cold brew and Coconut matcha( thank me later) Finding seating may be difficult during Peak times. PS - it's not a place to work from either

Joined a few colleagues here for an evening snack and coffee — such a nice and quiet atmosphere. The coffee and matcha were beautifully served and tasted great. It’s an ideal spot to have a good chat and spend some quality time. Highly recommend Grind, for anyone looking for a cozy café experience!

Very cozy / modern café. Stoped here before leaving colombo to the airoport and it was great place to unwind. I had poached eggs croissant and coconut matcha foam both tasted really good and I loved the presentation. Special thanks to the friendly stuff who let me in 10 min before opening as I was standing in front of café with my backpack🫶🏻

Kopi Kade, which means "coffee shop" in Sinhalese and Tamil, is a trendy spot in Colombo known for serving top-quality coffee. The owner, who has experience from Melbourne, offers various brewing methods like espresso, aeropress, and pour-over. Each cup of coffee comes with details about the beans' origins.
My latest discovery of decent coffee in this big city. It takes a bit road travel from downtown but totally worth it. Nim the owner is absolutely passionate about coffee and you can tell this from every cup he presents. Menu is quite simple because you can ask for any kind of coffee that suits your taste off the paper. Do try with imagination.

One of the few places you know you can get a solid coffee. The food is pretty good too, we had multiple things which were all so tasty. Except the savory French toast which was a bit meh. Recommend keeping room for dessert! Service was a bit slow. Had to wait an hour to get our food

Nice and Unique This is a nice restaurant /coffee place. Love their unique menu. The good thing about their menu is that they got small portions for reasonable prices, so you do not have to worry about ordering something you dont like and not being able to order something else due to price factor. The prawn slider was delicious ... and the hot chocolate was amazing . That hot chocolate was just like the one i had in Italy. I have never ever had such a delicious hot chocolate in Colombo ever. Te placr is very spacious, comfortable and clean. You can spend ample time . The service was great. Eas access from public transport too. There is ample parking for private vehicles too Average menu price 450 - 800 per dish... there were few.large meals for about 1,100-1,500.

Best specialty coffee we found in Sri Lanka in 3 month. The owner absolutely passionate about coffee and real expert. He has numerous sorts of coffee. As we understood he runs trainings for baristas in best coffee places in town. Food is good, has a descent cheeses as ingredients. Croissant is real croissant and made in interesting local fusion way. The portions size is much more European than lankian) The prices are a bit high, but it goes with a territory))

Amazing coffee and wonderful host! Surprised to find a spot in Colombo that nails their espresso beverages and single origin/estate coffees! Tasty savory and sweet treats, but the coffee is the main attraction. Nim's barista experience, wealth of knowledge and passion shines through. It's too bad I visited at the end of my trip. Will be back early and often on my return!

Cozy place with a very pleasant ambience. It's very conveniently located right off high level and surprisingly quite and peaceful given the busy location. The owner is very friendly. Unfortunately I only went there for coffee with a friend so cannot comment on the food, but the menu looked very interesting. Their coffee is great ! Highly appreciate what they are doing to support local upcoming artists by showcasing their work for zero commission. Very impressed by that and will definitely return soon to check out the amazing menu. Keep up the great work.

If you are a real die-hard coffee lover - this place should be in your list. Especially if you really know what good coffee is. They have decent specialty options as far as espresso for single origin beans, like pour over, aeropress. The bites they offer are also decent. Don't expect big fulling portions - this place is not about full your stomach, it's about satisfy your receptors. Also nice local art in design and friendly owner to talk to are the subjects to enjoy this place.

Good selection of pastries and non-coffee options, plus fair prices and reliable Wi-Fi. Absolutely recommend—new go-to spot for coffee lovers.

Restaurant
The Gallery Café is a unique establishment that serves as both a restaurant and an art gallery, providing a platform for emerging talents and established Sri Lankan artists. Housed in a colonial bungalow that once belonged to renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa, the café has retained its charm and original vision.
We had a wonderful experience at Gallery Café in Colombo, especially as we were there to celebrate a special birthday dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and full of rich flavors. The vibe was so elegant, with a warm and artistic atmosphere that made the evening feel truly special. The architecture and design of the space are stunning, a perfect blend of creativity and comfort. It’s honestly one of the most beautiful cafés in Colombo. We also ordered a birthday cake, and it was cute, elegant, and absolutely delicious, a perfect touch to our celebration. Gallery Café is a great place to celebrate special days with your loved ones. We loved every moment and would definitely visit again!
Shanuka R — Google review
Recently, I’ve found myself becoming more interested in art and architecture—largely thanks to my wife’s influence. This café, designed by the legendary Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, is a true gem. As the pioneer of tropical modernism, Bawa’s vision comes to life beautifully here. The space is simply stunning—a harmonious blend of art, history, and nature. The design feels open and organic, with thoughtful touches that reflect both cultural heritage and environmental sensitivity. You’ll even find select artworks on display, adding to the artistic ambiance. As for the food, some dishes were decent, though I’d suggest steering clear of the beef options—they were overly salty in my experience. Prices are on the higher side, but considering the unique setting and atmosphere, it’s absolutely worth the visit.

If there’s one restaurant in Sri Lanka that truly deserves praise, it’s The Gallery Café. This is the only place in the entire country where I actually finished my plate — and trust me, that says a lot! I’ve tried several other restaurants during my trip, but none of them even came close. Most places served food that was bland, greasy, or just disappointing. But here? Every single dish was full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. You can really taste the quality and attention to detail. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive than other restaurants, but honestly — it’s worth every rupee. The food, the service, the atmosphere — everything feels a level above the rest. The staff are friendly, professional, and make you feel genuinely welcome. If you’re looking for real, delicious food in Sri Lanka, stop searching — this is the place. Everywhere else, I left half my food untouched… but at The Gallery Café, I cleaned my plate and almost ordered more. Absolutely recommended. You’ll walk out happy, full, and already planning your next visit. 🍽️✨
Errol R — Google review
Surprisingly artful and decorated in a very stylish way, this place positively welcomes you in a unique setting. Prices are higher accordingly and with exception of the uncomfortable chairs and the alcohol-free Poya day rules which are part of Sri Lanka culture, we had an excellent evening. Definitely recommendable. Especially the champagne and seafood risotto's were great. Our daughters had a sirloin and fillet steak that were very sizable, a shame their vegetables were not so well cooked.
Dries R — Google review
We had an evening dinner in the outdoor area, a little off the beaten track but well worth the visit. Booking was easy via WhatsApp. Service was attentive, and the menu offered a huge range of both food and drinks. The spicy margarita was excellent, and I’d highly recommend the baked crab to share as a starter. The seared tuna and black pork curry were both outstanding. A perfect mix of Western and local flavours—definitely a spot to revisit. Would be fab in large groups. Pricing on the higher side for Sri Lanka, but pay for quality.
George H — Google review
So the entrance to this restaurant is one of the best I’ve been to and I’ve been to thousands of restaurants (yes I’m giving away my age a bit) so expectations are already set high. The menu is varied from different parts of the world so there’s plenty to choose from. The food prices are amongst the highest in Columbo so again expectations are growing. The service was reasonable. However, it all went downhill when the food arrived. Salty was an understatement. Not just one element of the dish but two of the three main elements. The third was white rice that was literally glued together! Needless to say the plate of food was returned and I left having just drank water (to wash away the salty taste!) Definitely worth a visit for the entrance but after that turn around and get your food somewhere else!
D D — Google review
Place provides amazing set of dining options. The presentation definitely match the vibe and architecture of the establishment. Geoffrey Bawa’s unique architecture definitely gives this place an extra flair. Pricing is in somewhat of a premium level. Highly recommended. Will visit again.

The Gallery Café is a beautiful spot with a lot of charm and a lovely ambience. The design and overall feel of the place are very nice, and we enjoyed sitting in such a relaxing environment. However, there were quite a lot of leaves scattered around, which made the place feel a bit untidy. The food and drinks were decent – the carrot cake was delicious, and the coffee was okay. But a big downside was the service time. We ordered two cappuccinos, and it took about 20 minutes for them to arrive. These are simple drinks that shouldn’t take that long to prepare, especially since the café wasn’t even busy at the time. It makes me wonder how long it might take when the place is crowded. Overall, a lovely setting but let down by slow service.

Ok i dont know how to start. 1st the waiter was so bad and SLOW. It took him ages to figure out whats going on. We went in during the happy hour where you get 25% off on cocktails and mocktails.(i have a picture attached below) and the had some error in their Facebook page post and they admitted their mistake. So then we ordered mocktails we toasted more like water mixed with some cordial. It was soo bad. The food was no exception. And they had a card offer and took the card away and came back saying its not working. It looked like that they were faking to charge the full amount. So if i could rate them negative 5 stars, i would. Highly disappointed.

Its not worth the money that we spent here as its very expensive for small positions. Don't think we will visit again as the five stars much cheaper than cloud cafe.

One of the few places in colombo to spend a peaceful Friday night. Rooftop has a nice view in the evening. Place is really calm with live music. Staff is very friendly. Unless you are sitting near the bar, service may take time. The food is good but the portions are relatively small. Vast variety of drinks available on the menu. Cocktails are good, while the spirits are relatively costly. Happy hours(25% off) from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm. It costs LKR2000-2500 per head.
Thushan M — Google review
We visited the restaurant on a 31st of December buying a Rs. 5000/- ticket. The restaurant was little bit busy. Food was okay. But we had issues with the service. They billed us with every order instead of billing the all ordered at the very end. The ticket was redeemable for Rs. 2500/- on music + food + drink. But they were going to exclude the cost for the drinks from the redeemable amount. But after a discussion things got resolved. I had mixed reactions with all the food and service.
Muvindu W — Google review
Nice place. Food is not that great. Calamari had very thick coating of flur and taste is not that good. Beef nachos comes with guacamole and it was too tangy. They gave us a small review questionnaire with the bill. But no pen 😬 Service is really great. Waiters are really helpful and always try to give you an exceptional service. People smoke there. But you won't feel it due to the breeze. There are small ants on the floor and my wife got bitten by few. Menu has very good spread with many vegetarian options. I think owner will correct these once he saw the review. Make sure to give it a try. Will go again when I get a chance.

I recently visited Cafe Mocha by Barista and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The atmosphere in this cafe is really great, making it a good place to work and study. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with comfortable seating and a relaxed vibe. I tried their watermelon juice, but I must admit, it didn't taste as fresh as I had hoped. It lacked the vibrant and refreshing flavor I associate with freshly squeezed juices. This was a bit disappointing as I was looking forward to a rejuvenating drink. On the bright side, the lasagna I ordered was a pleasant surprise. It was really tasty and had a delicious blend of flavors. However, I did find it a tad expensive for the portion size. Nonetheless, the quality was good, so it was worth the indulgence. I also sampled their bagels, and they were a highlight of the meal. They were very crispy and had a delightful taste. If you're a bagel lover, you won't be disappointed. In summary, Cafe Mocha by Barista offers a great atmosphere for working and studying, along with some tasty options on the menu. While the watermelon juice and pricing of certain items were a bit of a letdown, the bagels and lasagna were definitely worth trying. I'd recommend giving this cafe a visit for a cozy study or work session with some delicious snacks.

I'm delighted with this place being small, it feels spacious thanks to its open design. It's clean, and they have a small playground for toddlers (which is wonderful). What pleasantly surprised me was the food and drinks; everything is delicious and very well prepared. The coffee comes in a large cup and is delicious. They also have a wonderful drink, which I just tried, created by Gajan, part of the team that works here: "Maple Sea Salt." It's a frothy coffee with a subtle hint of flavors, and I highly recommend it. I'll definitely be back and ordering this new favorite. On the downside, - the music is quite loud, and for an early morning, I'd prefer something quieter—jazz, bossa nova, something relaxing. -The service could also be a bit faster; that would help. -Also, ordering takeout and being charged for the and box isn't really a good idea. All the dishes we have tried so far are excellent. The beef is perfectly medium rare. Katsu Chicken, Dumplings, Cold Noodles, Fried Rice, Ramen, etc; all tasted really good. Service is also excellent. Will keep going here for great food.

The food here is absolutely amazing, and the street view adds a really nice touch to the experience. But what truly makes this place stand out is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, they really go out of their way to make sure you’re taken care of. I even asked if they knew where I could find a card box to ship some things, and they were kind enough to give me one of theirs. Such a great vibe!

I visited this place on a Sunday, which was a mistake. The noise was incredibly loud, like a market. Despite a reservation, we waited ages, and their seating system was chaotic. We even had to wait after being told our table was ready, and another diner was moved for us. The staff tried their best but seemed overwhelmed. I wouldn't go on a Sunday again due to the noise and seating issues. However, the Western and Japanese fusion food is genuinely good, though pricey. The staff were helpful with the menu, and there are great vegetarian/vegan options. The food quality makes me consider returning, perhaps on a weekday for a quieter experience.

Beautiful restaurant in Colombo. After eating Sri Lankan food for three days in a row I needed something else. This Japanese style restaurant was truly amazing. I got the tofu, shrimp and pork belly skewers alongside six amazing prawn dumplings. The price was quite high considering the prices in Colombo and the pork belly was too hard for my taste. But the rest was amazing, highly recommended it.

The place has such a cute and cozy vibe, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier! We tried the chicken gyōza (LKR 1500) which was incredibly tangy and moist—seriously, a must-order. And my latte (LKR 1000) was completely on point. If you're looking for great food and a beautiful spot to hang out, this is it!

Barista Staple Street stands out as a beloved gem in Colombo's vibrant café scene, known for being the largest café chain in Sri Lanka. With 11 outlets scattered throughout the city, it offers an inviting atmosphere where you can unwind with a delightful cup of coffee without breaking the bank—most beverages are priced under 1000 LKR. The modern espresso bar vibe complements their Italian-style coffee perfectly, making it an ideal stop for java enthusiasts.
I often visit this place to do my freelance work in a peaceful environment, and it also serves as a great spot for business conversations. This location has truly become a favorite of mine, as it is not only excellent for productivity but also carries a sense of iconic charm.

Cozy Spot with Great Service – Barista at Staple Street (Lakarcade) I visited the Barista at Staple Street, which is located inside Lakarcade. So you enter through the main entrance of the Lakarcade building. It’s a lovely place with a warm and inviting atmosphere. You can enjoy your coffee either indoors or in the outdoor seating area, both offering a nice vibe to relax. I ordered the Kochchi Chicken Bagel and a café mocha. Both were fresh and delicious. The staff was friendly and provided great service throughout. Definitely a nice spot to unwind or catch up with friends over coffee. One great thing is that it’s also a good spot to work. The atmosphere is calm and comfortable, making it suitable for working while enjoying your coffee. Definitely a place I’d recommend and visit again!

Incredible in terms of food and coffee quality, tried a few other random cafes but nothing came close. The cappuccino was excellent, so was the cheesecake and the tuna croissant. Free wifi is a plus but seating can be improved.

Got it! You want to **submit a Google review** for a place called **Barista Staple Street** (or something similar). Here's a polished example you can use or customize: --- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ **Barista Staple Street** is a hidden gem! The coffee is consistently smooth and flavorful — easily one of the best brews in the area. The baristas are friendly, skilled, and always greet you with a smile. The vibe is cozy and perfect for working, meeting friends, or just relaxing with a cup. Highly recommend their \[insert favorite drink, e.g., "iced latte with oat milk"] and the pastries are fresh and delicious. Definitely a go-to spot for coffee lovers!
Vasana G — Google review
Highly recommended for coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even to work! It is really nice to say Barista is one of my favorite places for me. Literary out of all the outlets I have visited, the best outlet indeed is the Staple Street Outlet. I have been visiting the outlet regularly and despite of minimum parking facility given. (if you know you know the hazzle, Please look into this - kind request to the management of Barista) Anyhow, the staff, including the manager, senior and junior hospitality members, and trainees, are super friendly, and as I have noticed and seen, they have always given their best to satisfy customers. Food preparations are really good and quick, and the services are highly appreciated even in the busiest time of the day, such as early mornings. Since the place is not that big, you might think this is not the best place for office work stuff, but I have to say it is not that difficult with the staff and the service given always. Early mornings, Day time, Evenings, nor Nights, these guys never let us or the barista chain down.

I love love love this place. Barista is anyways known for their amazing service. I usually call them in advance and ask them to keep my coffee ready for pick up and they do it with a warm smile. The staff is an amazing bunch and they make sure the takeaway itself is properly packed and neatly and tidy. One of my favorite places and I will always recommend it.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful coffee experience in Colombo, look no further than The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. This popular coffeehouse chain offers an impressive selection of beverages, including their renowned ice-blended drinks that have captured the hearts of many young coffee enthusiasts. While it may be slightly pricier than other options, the quality is undeniably high, making it worth every penny.
Had a wonderful time with loved ones. The ambiance is calm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The rich flavors and quality of their drinks never disappoint, my personal favorite is the Hazelnut Ice Blend, which is absolutely delicious. A great place with a cozy atmosphere, making it a favorite destination for coffee lovers. The only disappointment is that many items on the menu have been unavailable in recent months. It would be great to see the full selection back soon!
Ashraff M — Google review
Nice place with a lovely atmosphere... The establishment is definitely showing its age and the Coffee Bean seems to have lost some of its quality in the service and the facilities. But nevertheless the food seems to be in par with their high price and it certainly is a treat for your taste buds. A good place to hang and to have a calm and quite cozy environment as well.
Devon P — Google review
I made a quick stop at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for a coffee, and it was a very positive experience overall. The cafe itself is well-maintained, with a spacious and inviting layout that makes it a comfortable place to relax. The quality of the coffee was the definite highlight for me; it had a wonderfully robust flavor that you don't always find. The food I saw also looked fresh and tasted good. A significant plus for some visitors will be the presence of a separate, designated smoking area. The service is a point worth noting. The team is highly efficient, professional, and clearly knows what they're doing my order was taken and prepared quickly and correctly. While they weren't overly friendly or chatty, they were not rude in any way. It's more of a focused, professional style of service, which is perfectly fine. For anyone looking for a reliable spot with high-quality coffee and a great atmosphere, this is an excellent choice. I really enjoyed my visit.
Chanuka N — Google review
I thought of writing a review so they can take necessary action to rectify customer experience. The concern i noticed here is the coffee is not hot enough, which affects the overall experience. I have been to many coffee shops in Sri lanka and US. A great cup of coffee should be served at the right temperature to bring out its full flavor and aroma. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been the case here. I hope the team can look into this and maintain the high standards that made this place a favorite in the first place.

A good place arround colombo to sip a delicious brew with a cozzy vibe. I really liked the expirience here. It has a calm and quite atmosphere and a nice architectural beauty. Of course food and coffee was great too.

A nice and cozy place to enjoy a cup of coffee with friends, family, or even by yourself. The establishment offers a wide variety of coffee, tea, and snack options. Hot chocolate, hot vanilla, and hot caramel aren't on the menu, but they offer these specialties as well. There's an (almost) soundproof meeting room where about 10 people can comfortably sit and have a meeting or small celebration. The meeting room rate is LKR 4,000 per hour (as of May 9th, 2025).

Went to this place for some lunch. First time visiting the place which is located in a pretty good area. Small place but it’s laid out pretty well. The food was really nice. Not much to choose from but there is a lamb dish which I had that I can recommend to anyone. Happy to see that they are using reusable straws which indicates they are thinking about sustainability. I think that’s something everything should think about. Good job Plus Nine Four for taking the initiative. Prices are also reasonable.

Really calm atmosphere here. Small but peaceful place. offers some healthy options and if you go there after noon; you will update the full menu. For breakfast we ordered below shown dishes and there were ok. Not amazing or anything just OK. That doesn’t mean food is bad but the dishes for morning are small in number. But they are healthy which I dearly appreciate but my girlfriend doesn’t 🙊

Such a beautiful and aesthetic place to dine. Very few spots can have both the standard of food being scrumptious and the atmosphere of the restaurant be amazing. The cool forest vibes in this semi hidden gem makes it worth the visit. And every single dish I've had is impeccably flavoured. My favourite was the fried calamari with tartar sauce. Yum!

Easy parking down the road. Casual atmosphere. It's indoor seating is open to the outside and there's some comfy seating available. The menu had quite a combination of dishes. Try the achcharu drink, was quite nice. Must go again to try their variations of food.

The cafe is located in a peaceful environment. Small place but nicely arranged. The food is good. But I feel it is a bit over priced for the portion size you get. Since the place is a big small, it gets congested during peak hours. However good place to have a chat with friends and chill. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Maheshi P — Google review
Good food but they have limited selection until 11.30am , so we ended up having the same dish. Staff was friendly. Can be a little warm outside and not much of personal space due to the small area of the cafe. The brioche looked nothing like a brioche. The ice cream wasnt complimenting as it was to icy. Only plus was the coffee

The food was excellent .considering we had ordered only vegetarian dishes the quality and consistent and the flavours were spot .Kudos to chef Madhu. The dessert cheesecake was a little dry and lackustre an indication that the sweets could be enhanced . Minimal ambiance, seating and parking . The bummer is they close early at 5pm so forget dinner.

t-Lounge by Dilmah – Chatham Street is a haven for tea enthusiasts in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It's the go-to place for an extensive selection of unblended teas, including Exceptionals, Gourmet tea selection, Ceylon Green tea, organic selection, infusions, Elixir of Ceylon tea, and more.
One of my best loved cafes in Colombo. The interior and the details are spot on. Cozy little gem of a place serving a variety of drinks and food. A lot of foreigners milling in and out of this cafe. They serve a welcome drink in a tiny mug, which is very thoughtful. I was mind-blown by the mungo strawberry drink today. They’ve used flavored black tea with mango pulp & chucks of strawberry to curate the drink, it was truly refreshing with very very minimal sugar. The spicy chicken crepe was great too, the flavors were on point albeit would have loved more stuffing in the crepe. Staffs are quite friendly and welcoming feedbacks. Very cozy little outlet. Definitely my go to spot every-time I need some me time. Prices are slightly on the higher side plus the VAT and tax is heavy on the bill

I had the chance to visit T Lounge in Colombo and it was a truly unique experience. The variety of teas they offer is astonishing and each one feels carefully crafted. The tea experience itself was superb and the ambiance of the place makes it even more enjoyable. The service was a little slow start but picked up later . The food was also very good and paired well with the tea. The place itself is an experience and I’m glad I found this place . Plenty of variety to try their tea and I’d surely come back Overall, T Lounge is a wonderful spot to enjoy a relaxed tea experience. The atmosphere is warm, the tea selection is excellent, and the food is worth trying. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Colombo.

Used to be a regular at their old spot near the Colombo court road. Even now it’s same quality, have good parking , menu has lot of options and wide range of drinks and also their desserts are to die for. Went tot his new spot couple of times, burger and the grilled chicken was good and the shake I got. Brownie and cappuccino was good too. If it was situated but closer to a main road would be a great advantage ! Totally recommend visiting this place 👌🏼

Delicious food and a warm, homey place. Prices are a little bit on the high end, but the food is well worth the price. Can get a bit crowded on weekends and week nights. The only complaint I have is the service can be real slow. I've noticed several times that even though there are four or five of the staff behind the counter, but only one person runs around taking orders and bringing the food. So the service is excruciatingly slow when there's a bit of a crowd.
Tharaka W — Google review
Pretty nice place. There’s seating available on the inside for about 12 people, and there’s more seating in the courtyard. The interior is nicely decorated. It has a welcoming feel to it. We had to wait what seemed like a long time for the food to arrive after ordering, but I can say that the wait was worth it. We had a kebab, a chicken run burger, a fudge brownie cake shake and a double cappuccino. The cappuccino was strong but creamy. The cake shake was exceptional, a little too sweet for my taste, but my girlfriend loved it. The burger was juicy and well presented with soft bread. The kebab too was quite well made. The staff was friendly and helpful. Hope to visit again soon.

Used to drop by there for desserts often. Quite nice place and has got a great atmosphere. Except the fact the interior is a bit girlish. Often I've tried the Brownie Bomb and the Giant Cookie. And, some other desserts. Favorite dessert spot so far. Liked the vibe when it's not so crowded. Takes a while to prepare the dishes though. Different kinda seating arrangements are available. Some games and an entire book shelf to kill the time until you get the ordered dish. And, the light music. Recently saw that they've got a lot of flowers. Suitable place for a date too. Has got parking for reasonable amount of vehicles. Air-conditioned, Good customer service. Tip: Try the giant cookie and the brownie bomb (with strawberries) at least once. You won't find that in the regular menu 😎

The ambiance and the interior is classic and so artistic. It gives you a comfortable feeling to just walk around the place. The food is simply delicious. The ingredients they use here is of good quality and as a result gives the customer a mouth watering experience. Completely in love with the Fudge Brownies and the main courses. The beverages are well prepared and soo scrumptious. Recommending this to anybody who are food lovers.
Kavindi J — Google review
Not worth the price. So the food there is incredibly overpriced, and so are some of the drinks. I had the creamy chicken pasta and tbh it didn't taste as good as I expected and the quantity was very little! It barely half of a dish. The Nutella hot chocolate I had was also not up to any standard. The only good thing I liked was the caramel latte. Still overpriced, but at least it was good. The staff was nice tho. They didn't give us cutlery when we got our food and we went to get some before they came and offered us new ones. The atmosphere is also nice, although it did get too hot inside at one point because it was overcrowded for an event that even staying outside was cooler.

Cafe Sociale offers a unique experience for both humans and their furry companions. The cafe serves visually appealing dishes with creative names, creating a memorable dining experience. While the food is well-prepared and delicious, some aspects of the cafe's maintenance may be lacking, such as dusty windows, faded wall paintings, and a rusty fan. Despite this, Cafe Sociale provides an inviting atmosphere for pet owners looking to enjoy a meal with their four-legged friends.
When the food arrived at the table you can't help yourself but crave over this juicy burgers and noodles. 😋 Cafe Sociale is so unique because of their unique names for their food mostly based on great old movies which has been matched with the food. 🎥 🍿 This place makes you feel so cosy and it's a great place to hang out with your friends. Friendly and helpful staff. The food they serve are very creatively made. ☺️🙂

It was super food experience... loved about everything but ambience.. the place looks quiet modern from outside but when u go inside it’s not that eye-catching except for the corner with bean bags!!!! Their menu is quiet small but had nice and unique names!!! (Loved the names on it) but was bit difficult to know what’s the dish is since the description was missing important stuff!! But the staff came and explain.. FOOD : we ordered chicken run and the hills have pies and a beetroot juice... food lived up to the standard we expected.. mutton was spot on. Chicken run gave us a flavor punch!! And must mention about the presentation!!! Their PRESENTATION IS JUST WOWW.. loved it and surely instagram worthy.. staff is friendly and really friendly.. service is fast.. negative point i notice is the washroom area.. it was not clean and it was wet.. haven’t had tissues or hand wash ... and toilet was a mess,. Other than that overall was plus plus! ❤️

So I visited this cafe last Sunday. I have heard good things about the place. So I decided to check it out myself. I loved the food, coffee, pricing, staff and the location. The only thing that I didn'y like was the ambiance and set up of the place. See, the walls are coloured in Grey and I personally feel it gives the place a very dull feeling. The decorations were minimal and simple and I think that is okay. But there are other small things like uneven table legs, the glasses facing the road was not very clean. It had a lot of finger marks. I truly believe that this place can and will attract more people, if the owners rework on the decor and ambiance of the place and give it a small marketing push on social media. Again, the food and the staff is brilliant! Pricing is reasonable too and they have a huge car park! So useful for such a location.

It is a simple calm place in bambalapitiya facing to gall road with a different ambience. We ordered a creamy vegetable pie, a classic spaghetti chicken carbonara, a chicken and seafood thai rice, a tuna panini, a chocolate milkshake. Spaghetti chicken carbonara didn't taste any special. Tuna panini was great but it was a small portion. Creamy vegetable pie and thai rice were different items with taste and look. And it was a good different indeed. Really liked their chicken and seafood rice and so much worthy for the price. They have given nice names to their food items on the menu.

Me and 5 other friends visited this place. After a conversation we managed to arrange a place to sit and spend the time. After placing the order, it took some time for the food be ready. The food was well prepared, tasty and also the presentation was great. Seems like the place haven’t been maintained perfectly. The glass windows were bit dusty, wall paintings were faded in some places, there was a rusty fan too. It would be better if this place can be maintained properly.

You could wait inside as long as you want as there is a lot of seating accommodation According my experience, The shop does not serve great food but passable, even though it does not give you the full value for money. Since I am a coffee lover, I like the Cappuccino they serve, If you order food and coffee, The staff serves both Food and Coffee together, so when it is time to have your coffee, it is not hot enough. I find that, a lot of coffee shops do this same mistake :-) The staff member are very polite, very patient and attentive. Further they communicate with customers in a professional manner. I like this place and also the main branch in Horton Place. The Coffee Bean is one of my favourite places to meet friends and sip a cup of Cappuccino in a very relaxed atmosphere.

This is my first visit. My purpose was to have a nice coffee while I'm doing my computer work. This place dosent have WiFi (not sure cuz at that moment WiFi facilities wasn't there). I had a double chocolate latte. It was good. It's better if it's more cooler inside. I didn't see much power outlets.

Tea, coffee and pastries or baked goods are alright but all other food items such as salads & wraps are quite subpar. For example, the Chinese chicken salad had only a very few pieces of chicken, a sprinkle of fried flakes & noodles and a huge pile of lettuce. I mean, Seriously?
Kusheema B — Google review
It's in the new access towers lobby so not much privacy. Good place to sit down and do some work. Have free wifi and can request for a plug point to work on a laptop. Went on a weekend so it wasnt crowded. Half the items in the menu was not available so had to settle for what they had. Had a tandoori sandwich and grape flavored ice tea. The sandwich was nothing special, generous with the chicken and tasted ok. Drink was sweet and nothing special.

Not impressed! From the 6 ice team flavours they had only 1! And it was not very good either. The Chicago cheesecake was dry and not worth its price.

The Barnesbury was a great place to dine-in at. It had a great ambiance and a good interior. The staff were friendly, prompt and courteous. The place was spacious with enough privacy and the food was tasty. Especially enjoyed their The Barnesbury Special Cilli Prawn Pasta and their Mocha Frappe. We had a mini birthday celebration there and had a cake delivered to our table by the staff and were able to get some good photographs with the aesthetic background in view. All in all, it was a great place. We went around 11 am on a less busy weekend so we sort of had the whole place to ourselves which was fantastic. Plus they have a well kept garden outside with a good view! Totally recommend the place for a private outing especially for a mini celebration with your loved ones.

I recently visited The Barnesbury for lunch with a friend, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad along with an iced Americano, while my friend had the shrimp pasta in pink sauce paired with a berry punch. The food was nicely prepared fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without being overly heavy. The ambiance, while clean and well-kept, felt a little isolated perhaps better suited for those looking for a quieter spot. On the plus side, the staff were attentive and friendly throughout our meal, which added a warm touch to the experience. If you're looking for good food and considerate service in a more low key setting, The Barnesbury is worth checking out.

The food was amazing. Worth trying for the price. Good portion size. One portion is well enough for two. Perfect ambience for relaxation. Suitable for couple, friends and family. Must try their other dishes as well !

The atmosphere is absolutely wonderful calm, cozy, and perfect for relaxing after a hectic day. The decor and ambiance make it feel like a little oasis, and the food matches the setting delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful dining experience amidst the city buzz!

My boyfriend ordered the crispy chicken and fries dish, and I swear if love at first bite was a thing, this was it. That chicken? Crispy like it trained in martial arts. Juicy like it had been blessed by the poultry gods themselves. And the presentation? Excellent! We lowkey annoyed the staff (okay, maybe highkey) because we were indecisive gremlins who couldn't pick between half the menu. But the person who took our order? Absolute legend. Patient, helpful, and a total gem even though he had every right to throw a menu at us. Would I eat it again? Yes. Would I marry it? Possibly. Would I recommend it? Only if you’re ready to be forever disappointed by all other fried foods. 10/10 would annoy the staff again for another round.

I thought the vibe was great. With board games and a calm, kid friendly atmosphere, the ambiance is wonderful. The antique furnishings and lighting create a special appeal. Although a bit pricey, the meal is great. It's a pleasant, serene atmosphere. Excellent for workspaces; they offer free wifi. A pleasant spot to chill out, even by yourself. They also have a lovely garden and outside seating. The service was quick and excellent, but please don't stare at your customers; instead, allow them some privacy. It makes embarrass us and they just wanted to clean the table quickly

Simply Strawberries is a cafe in the Cotton Collection Premises in Colombo that serves up delectable desserts and sweet treats. It's popular for its Brownies, Scones, Ice cream and other options, all of which are topped with delicious strawberries. This cosy cafe is well-equipped with a trendy decor and offers a peaceful atmosphere during your time here.
A great place to have desserts... Simply strawberries is one of my go-to places for desserts. Especially when it feels like having some strawberries. I have been there with my family and colleagues too. Recently I went there with some colleagues to have an afternoon snack/dessert. The atmosphere was quiet as usual and very calm. We quickly went through the menu and made our selections. They have a grate range of desserts containing fresh strawberries, natural strawberry topping, raspberry toppings along with ice cream, waffle, cakes, cheesecakes and many more. In the beverage department you have coffee, fresh strawberry juice and milkshakes. Now they offer New York style cheesecake, lemon cheesecake and double chocolate cheesecake where you can have them with or without your choice of toppings apart from the usual strawberry and raspberry cheesecakes. We ordered Meringue sundae, strawberry topping & Ice cream, strawberry tart, classic new York style cheesecake, double chocolate cheesecake. All were pretty good. We liked them. And they were filling too. Be warned that some of the options have big portion sizes almost like a meal. Especially sundaes, waffles. We received a nice and efficient service from the staff. We didn't have to wait longer to get the order. Overall we had a nice time with some yummy desserts. As always we loved it.

This is a small outlet of Simply strawberries. Just two people are working here and only self service is available. However it was almost filled when I visited on a saturday afternoon. Strawberry cheese cake was delicious and worth the price but Strawberry Milkshake wasn't up to the mark and exorbitantly priced in my opinion. Service is fast and waiting time was roughly about five minutes. Ambience is alright.

Visited Simply Strawberries recently and had a lovely experience! We tried the strawberry cheesecake, it was delicious, with fresh strawberries that added the perfect touch of sweetness. The ambiance was calm and pleasant, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a dessert. Definitely worth a visit if you’re a fan of strawberry treats! 🍰✨
Thuvaraka S — Google review
I’ve tried several strawberry dishes at Simple Strawberry by Jagro, and most of them are really tasty and fresh! 🍓 The cheesecake is delicious - creamy and full of strawberry flavour. 😋 But honestly, the strawberry tart was a miss for me - no real taste, so I wouldn’t recommend it. Also, we ordered extra strawberries because the staff didn’t mention that most dishes already come with plenty. A small tip - the shop is a bit hard to find as it’s behind a building, but it’s located right in front of the Cotton Collection store. Once you find it, you’ll love the cozy vibe and sweet treats! 🍓✨

I'm absolutely in love with this boutique. It's a peaceful spot located right in front of the Cotton Collection clothing store, which offers convenient parking. However, it can only accommodate a few people at a time, as there are only four tables available. The menu is exclusively desserts, so if you're looking for hot dishes, this might not be the right place for you. The food is delicious, especially the Waffles with Berries & Cream, which are my favorite. However, the portion sizes are smaller compared to other Jagro locations, so I'm giving it 4 stars.
Arosh A — Google review
Simply Strawberries by Jagro at Cotton Collection is an absolute delight! The strawberries are fresh, juicy, and beautifully presented. I especially loved their strawberry cheesecake – creamy, perfectly balanced, and incredibly satisfying. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. The only downside is the limited seating, but the quality of the treats more than makes up for it!
Kavinda D — Google review
Nice place to sit and enjoy smoothie. However, seats are extremely limited that I had to finish my smoothie as soon as possible so I can let the next people sit. Prices are quite high comparing to the drink quality, it tastes just alright, nothing very special.
Anh N — Google review
My absolute favorites are the strawberry cheesecake, strawberry sandwich cake, and tiramisu; all must-tries! 🍓🍰 Everything’s super tasty and worth trying again and again! 😋 It’s a small open space by Jagro, perfect for groups of around 10–15 people. You can dine in or grab a takeaway too! ☕🍰

Peppermint Cafe has gained popularity among the locals in Colombo, despite some initial controversy. Its 24-hour operation and pet-friendly policy have endeared it to many. While the prices may be a bit high, the generous portions and quality of food make up for it. The cafe offers a visually appealing environment with delicious and fresh food options like Club Sandwich, Fish and Chips, Pasta, and crispy chicken wings. The beverages are also tasty and reasonably priced.
I had a wonderful experience here! The food was absolutely delightful , every bite was satisfying and flavorful. The portion size was generous, making it a truly fulfilling breakfast. I also loved the atmosphere; it’s warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxing meal. From the food to the ambiance, everything exceeded my expectations. Definitely looking forward to coming back again!

Had an amazing late-night experience at Pepper Mint Café! We went around 2 AM with two of my friends, and honestly, this 24-hour café didn’t disappoint at all. The food was absolutely worth it — a little on the pricey side, but every bite proved why. The kotthu was unbelievably good, and the club sandwich was just mind-blowing — genuinely the best I’ve had in my life. The burger completely surprised us too. We thought it would be small, but when it arrived… it was massive! One burger alone could have fed all three of us — and it tasted amazing. The mojitos were refreshing, and their signature tambili with ice was just top-notch. Perfect spot for late-night vibes, good food, and a chill atmosphere. Highly recommend! 🙌🌙🍔🥤
Haseef F — Google review
The food was decent, but it didn’t quite justify the price. The chicken wrap was mostly filled with onions, though the fries were top notch. The atmosphere was cozy and felt homely, but a crow kept wandering in like it owned the place kind of funny, but it did make me question the hygiene even though it wouldn’t have a huge impact. The service was great; only one staff member was working, and the server did an excellent job.
Charitha L — Google review
The variety of food is good but the prices are high. The service quality is good but appreciate if they could come to the table and take the order. The place is not that crowded during week days The spicy friend chicken kottu was really tasty but source sauce didn’t match with this dish at all. The lime mojito was good as well. The monogolian rice was too spicy and lacked flavor.

This ensures there's something to satisfy any craving, no matter how specific or general, after a long evening. The quality is consistently good. We visited Peppermint Cafe and were extremely disappointed with the overall experience. After being seated, we were asked to move to another table because of a supposed reservation, though no one ever came to that table during the entire hour we were there. Later, when we went to place our order, another staff member asked us to move again, and shortly after, we were asked to move a third time!!. It was frustrating and completely ruined our mood. The staff didn’t seem familiar with their own menu, and communication was poor throughout. Our food took about 40 minutes to arrive, and honestly, it wasn’t worth the price. Because of how unpleasant the experience had become, we decided to get our food packed. When we asked for takeaway, the drinks were handed to us without a proper simple seal like how are customers supposed to carry drinks like that, especially if driving? To make things worse, the cleanliness was terrible. The seats had hair and stains, and no one seemed to care about cleaning them ,this is basic hospitality knowledge. Charging a service fee for this kind of service feels unacceptable. We spent nearly Rs. 8,000, and it was not worth it at all. Please improve your service quality and staff training.

Milk & Honey Café is a charming spot known for its delightful ambience and delicious vegetarian cuisine, with some meat options available. The café offers refreshing drinks and an all-day breakfast menu, along with wholemeal wraps, salad bowls, and intriguing mains like miso vegetables with tofu and sticky rice. It has gained popularity in Colombo for its healthy offerings including sandwiches, wraps, smoothies, cakes, and brownies.
This place has the perfect ambiance to relax and unwind after a long day. Absolutely love the atmosphere and the food! A hidden gem in the middle of the city! The ambiance here is super cozy perfect for winding down or catching up with friends. The aesthetic is on point, both inside and out, with some nice outdoor seating under umbrellas too. It’s calm and peaceful despite being in a busy area. The food is impressive fresh, well-presented, and mostly healthy. I really enjoyed the wraps and sandwiches. They’ve also got a good range of smoothies and vegan options. Drinks could be a bit cooler, but still enjoyable. One thing that stands out is the adjoining bookstore such a vibe! It’s filled with novels, puzzles, and cute stationery. Only downside is there’s no air con. Overall, this spot is perfect for a laid-back hangout with good food and good vibes. Definitely going back!

Cafe Colombo, located in One Galle Face, offers an unmatched dining experience with exceptional service and amazing food. The restaurant is known for its mouth-melting dishes and a wide selection of cocktails, beers, and whiskey. It's a great spot to hang out with friends and loved ones. In addition to their food offerings, the cafe also provides various coffee-related items for purchase such as French presses, Chemexes, espresso machines, and a collection of coffee beans.
Food was so delicious & the service was really great, too!

While we enjoyed the pleasant ambiance, our dining experience was disappointing. The staff seemed unfamiliar with the menu, and the hot batter cuttlefish was poorly prepared—filled with onions and missing batter. The waiter’s explanation, attributing the issues to a water problem, felt unprofessional and added to the poor service. Additionally, the Passion mocktail was made with cordial instead of fresh ingredients, which was also disappointing. We hope these concerns can be addressed to enhance future experiences.

The view from the outdoor seating area is breathtaking. It overlooks port city and the vast sea. Unfortunately, the food was a let down. The pizza rather dry and flavourless. The ingredients listed in the menu were lacking on the pizza itself. We also had cocktails, the classic margarita… was not lacking something I can’t really specify.

Hilton Colombo is a modern hotel situated in the heart of Colombo's business district, offering bright rooms and suites with some featuring ocean views. The hotel is conveniently located near popular tourist attractions such as Dutch Hospital shopping mall, Galle Face Beach, and Gangarama Temple. Guests can easily explore the city with local tuk-tuks available outside the hotel.
I have visited the Hilton Colombo many times, yet my most recent stay was simply extraordinary. From the wonderfully warm and personal welcome to the flawless service throughout, every detail was handled with impeccable care. The Executive Lounge staff were a particular delight, and the thoughtful floral arrangements, generous fruit basket, and sweets added a truly special touch. I was utterly delighted by the incredible room upgrade – a gesture that went far beyond expectation. My guests and business partners were equally impressed, and the evening meals in the restaurant were exemplary. Sincere thanks to Mr Manesh Fernando and his remarkable team – their dedication, professionalism, and warmth set the Hilton Colombo apart. I look forward immensely to my next visit.

All in all, a pleasant stay at Hilton Colombo. While it didn’t quite feel like a full 5-star experience, the front of house staff were a real highlight. Bakhti and Daniel, in particular, stood out — friendly, attentive, and professional. Bakhti even arranged a lovely cake and decorated the room for my parents’ anniversary, which was a really thoughtful touch. The breakfast was a bit chaotic, and the food and drink quality could be improved, but despite that, the hotel is a great base for exploring Colombo. It is very safe, secure, and gorgeous, with a lovely courtyard featuring a water feature and swans. I’d happily recommend it for a comfortable stay.

Special thanks to Security Pradeep, Host Fiona, and Receptionist Noah for making our stay truly memorable. Highly recommended

I made a reservation for 8 people for Oktoberfest on 9th November 2025, & I made the payments on 02/10/25. Made the payment early Hoping to reserve a good table , Some one called Kavindya (table reservations) took the booking. Called her few times requesting for a menu (for few of my foreign friends) she never got back to me.. We managed to arrive on the venue around 7:15pm again to grab a good spot & 98% of the tables were empty, she said there was a change of tables, and she took us & ask us to sit in a corner table so far away from the stage. Like on the last row, when we asked for a table near by she said “All the tables are reserved! & if you want she can refund the money” I asked for her manager & a lady call Natasha clams to be the manager came & said the same.. they couldn’t explain when I asked them on what basis you reserved the other tables. I argued with her saying if there is a table resavation or a table number why didn’t take responsibility to mention it on the ticket it self when we make the booking. It’s very disappointing to see how these women (your staff, so called managers ) act to ruin the good will of this international hotel, they make Favourations for people they know & treat other guests poorly. I hope the management will take action towards these people & look in to this issue without ignoring these situations. People spend money & come there to have a good time enjoy. Don’t make it a habit of running it for others so because you want treat your own special. We won’t be tolerating these kinda behavior from Colombo Hilton. I need a feedback regarding this or I will be contacting who can assist to this.

Review: Oktoberfest VIP Experience So, what can I say? I decided to splash out on a VIP ticket for Oktoberfest, thinking it would offer something special, a bit of extra comfort, service, or at least some recognition for the higher price. Unfortunately, it really wasn’t worth the money. There was absolutely no difference between the VIP experience and the standard ticket. No perks, no extras, and the staff seemed completely unaware of what the VIP option even included. I actually had to go and ask someone what was supposed to be “VIP” about it, and even then, no one seemed to know. Honestly, if you’re thinking of going, save your money and just get a regular ticket. You’ll have exactly the same experience without paying the premium. That said, the food was quite good and the atmosphere was lively enough for what it was, festive, a bit chaotic, but fun in its own way. Hilton Colombo offers an outstanding hospitality experience right in the heart of the city. The staff are warm, professional, and always attentive to every detail, making guests feel truly cared for. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, offering great views and modern amenities. The restaurants serve excellent food with a wide variety of local and international dishes, and the buffet is always a highlight. A perfect blend of comfort, class, and genuine Sri Lankan hospitality — highly recommended for both business and leisure stays!

Restaurant
Upali's by Nawaloka is a top choice for those seeking traditional Sri Lankan cuisine in Colombo. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes suitable for vegans and vegetarians, from soups and salads to main courses and desserts. Once the childhood home of businessman Upali Dharmadasa, this establishment provides a homely atmosphere while serving mouthwatering rice and curry spreads during lunch hours.
I tried the Sri Lankan mixed flavors platter and one of their desserts (photos attached). Both were delicious! The waiter was very kind, friendly, and attentive — he even gave us information while chatting with us. One small note: if you don’t want spicy food, make sure to mention it in advance. Overall, it’s definitely a place where you can comfortably enjoy a meal if you’re around. Highly recommended!

Greeted with smiles. We had fried rice both chicken and prawns. The isso thel dala was really nice. Spicy but delicious 😋. Also the potato fry was excellent. Service is excellent. The drinks were excellent. Genuine sri lankan culinary experience in the heart of colombo. You got nelum pokuna and the colombo council building for the view. Easy to have a conversation. The watalappan was fantastic as well. I didn't notice any artificial flavors or enhancers. It's a healthy genuine experience. Highly recommend!

The highlight of our short stayover at Colombo before heading to explore other parts of SL. When the 2 of us, ordered the Jaffna Crab Curry we were warned that the portion size is usually fit for 3-4 people. And to be fair, it is but little did they know our capacity to devour that delicious crab and soak in all the gravy into our set lunch menu plate with rice, bread and vegetables. I'm going to have dreams about that crab gravy. There were so many other things on the menu that caught our eye but our stomachs betrayed us by only allowing us to eat so much. Coming back again on the next visit to Colombo to savour more.

The service was exceptionally friendly, and the staff took the time to guide us through their extensive menu and explain the dishes. The food was delicious as well. We had roti paratha, veggie curry, prawns, milk hopper and buffalo milk. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a sri lankan experience in Colombo! :)

Recently visited Upali’s by Nawaloka. We tried the mix fried rice which was quite flavorful. However, the cheese chicken kottu was a bit disappointing, as the cheese was just placed on top instead of being mixed in. We also ordered a cheese roti but it didn’t meet expectations. The dishes overall were not very spicy. We tried the watalappan as well, but it tasted like it had been refrigerated for a long time. Service was okay, nothing to complain about, but nothing special either.

Fantastic Sri Lankan Fare in Colombo Upali's by Nawaloka is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in Colombo. From the moment you walk in, you'll appreciate the trendy, welcoming atmosphere—it's a chic spot to enjoy traditional food. The location is excellent, too, right in the heart of Colombo and conveniently close to Viharamahadevi Park. The menu truly delivers. Whether you're craving comforting staples like roast paan or looking for perfectly cooked meat dishes, Upali's has you covered. The flavors are genuinely authentic and utterly delicious. If you want a taste of real Sri Lanka in a vibrant setting, make a stop here. Highly recommended!

Food was extremely disappointing and disgusting. We went for lunch. Ordered a devilled chicken, pictures attached, its more bone than actual chicken. The fried rice isnt made of basmati, the rasam (pictures attached) is a disappointment. Who in the world add so much oul in a rasam. Its basically chicken or fish curry that they made that they served saying its rasam. The kottu is the best. Pictures attached. It smelled bad, they served us foul food. Added alot of sauce to cover the taste and smell. Soooo disgusting. Made with uncooked bread and made with old veggies and meat etc. Basically everything is bad, don’t waste your time. Please please try your food before eating. The manager apologized profusely which i appreciate but it’s his job to check everything
Dilly K — Google review
Firstly, we witnessed a rather rude exchange between the manager and another guest. The customer had been waiting over 20 minutes for a bottle of water and called out several times. When the manager finally came over, his response was shockingly dismissive — “Was it me whom you ordered from?” Regardless of who took the order, such an attitude from management is unacceptable in a restaurant of this standard. Adding to the concern, we were served banana leaf plates with dead spiders on them. When we raised the issue, the manager attempted to shift the blame to suppliers, saying the leaves are steamed and cleaned before use. But that misses the point — where is the hygiene control and quality check? What if someone had eaten without noticing? Overall, both the attitude of the staff and the lack of basic hygiene were extremely disappointing. This is not what one expects from a restaurant with such a reputed name. Never again.

Cafe Shaze is a newly opened establishment in Colombo that caters to various dining needs, from quick coffee breaks to family meals and even business gatherings. The cafe offers an authentic and diverse selection of dishes on its A la carte menu, along with a wide range of Italian Coffee made from 100% Arabica beans. While it serves typical Western cuisine, mocktails, and coffee, the quality is comparable to other cafes in the area.
Recently had dinner at Cafe Shaze and it was amazing. They have an extensive and creative beverages menu. Everthing we tried was fantastic but the Mango Coconut was unexpected really good. The masala fries and the parmesan herb fries are some of the best fries I've had. Had some pretty good vegetarian options. Would recommend the hot butter cuttlefish, spaghetti carbonara and the seafood noodles! The service was really good and loved the ambiance and interior as well. Definitely would come back ❤

Yesterday, we celebrated my husband’s birthday at one of our all time favorite places — a spot that holds so many beautiful memories from before we got married. And now, even with our little one, it still feels just as special to visit. Their new location is absolutely stunning the ambiance, the lighting, and the overall aesthetic create such a cozy and vibrant atmosphere. The food was beyond amazing, with an expanded menu that’s full of flavor. My top favorites have to be the seafood Nasi, seafood rice, Mongolian mixed rice, calamari, and of course, the garlic bread simply delicious! A big thank you to Madushanka for his exceptional service and warm hospitality — truly one of the friendliest and most professional staff members we’ve met. They also have a lovely private party area, and the upstairs space can be arranged to suit any occasion. Even their washrooms are spotless and well maintained, which shows how much care they put into every detail. If you haven’t checked out their new place yet, make sure to visit Shaze at Bagatalle Road you’ll absolutely love it! Wishing the entire Team Shaze all the very best keep shining and serving smiles as always! 💫

The cafe had an overall nice ambience, and the interior was comforting and peaceful. Very good service, good menu.. and very friendly service. Food was very good quality all around. They know how to prepare it and serve in the good manner. This time I visited with my sister. She loved the Oreo milkshake and the chicken lasagna. I love how flavorful this pasta is with all the fresh spices in it.

Good interior and food was delicious. But the attitude and service of staff was extremely disappointing. 1. Refused to serve hot water to a person with cough. Agreed after negotiations. Went to counter and asked for a second hot water and bottled water. It never came. 2. Crab served. But failed to provide cutter and apron even upon request 4. Short and staff and not equipped to handle weekend rush. Better limit customers according to resources.

I went to Café Shaze with my friends, and our experience was a mixed bag. We booked a private room for 12 people, but later 14 of us showed up. They refused to give us even two extra chairs, saying it would mess up the table layout. When we asked for another place to sit, they said it was reserved but we stayed there until closing and didn’t see any big crowd 🤷. Now about the food it’s overpriced, and the portions are too small. The taste was just okay, nothing special or worth the price. I don’t mind paying more if the food is really good, but this wasn’t worth it. Quite disappointing. The service okish, and the ambiance was excellent. Overall rating: 3/5.

We use to consume food from shaze since 2022 , those days they situated in col -07 Horton place. We use to get their signature dish fried full fish , roast paan, sambola , dhal curry and prawns curry. Those days this combo was superb and worth for money. 15th Aug again visited them by that time they have moved to col 05 Bhagathale place. This time i didn’t get the same quality of goods as those days. In my option not satisfied with the food & not worth for the price. only the friend fish and prawn curry has somewhat same taste. Dhal curry was like ordinary dhal curry u can get from road side hotels lack of coconut milk & i got kind of smell as well. Roast Paan is not soft. Those days they use to have perfect soft roast paan’s. Sambola also ordinary nothing special.

The selection includes croissants, muffins, cookies, sweets, chocolates, cheesecakes, and fruit tarts filled with delectable preserves.
A very well known coffee shop in the the colombo city limits. Crowded always. Foods and beverages are truly above the expectations. However have to work to improve the service levels of the staff and reduce the customer waiting time to attract more. Can recommend to any one.

A Timeless Charm: A Heartfelt Review of The Cinnamon Grand Coffee Shop Our recent stay in Sri Lanka was beautifully punctuated by our mornings at the Cinnamon Grand coffee shop. Walking in was like stepping into a cherished memory; the elegant ambience has retained its classic charm from yesteryears, offering a wonderfully familiar and comforting consistency that is so rare to find. The experience was anchored by the fantastic food—the rich, aromatic coffee and the perfectly flaky, buttery croissants were a daily highlight. However, what truly elevated our visit from excellent to extraordinary was the exceptional staff. Upon my wife casually wondering if pesto sauce could be added to her croissant, Chef Anuja didn't hesitate. He personally went to the kitchen and prepared a fresh batch from scratch just for her. This act of genuine, above-and-beyond hospitality was unforgettable. As a Sri Lankan who spent nearly 15 years in Russia, returning to the legendary Cinnamon Grand and being welcomed by such authentic, warm-hearted service felt incredibly special. It was a powerful reminder of the legendary grace of Sri Lankan hospitality. This sentiment was echoed by our wonderful waiter, Maheshika, whose attentive and courteous service ensured we felt well-looked-after throughout. The Cinnamon Grand has certainly not lost its lustre; it continues to shine brilliantly. The food is fantastic, offering remarkable value without being overpriced. Our only minor observation was that the temperature in the seating area felt a bit warm, and the air conditioning could perhaps be adjusted for optimal comfort. That small point aside, our experience was flawless. We left feeling not just satisfied, but truly valued—a testament to a hotel that has perfectly preserved its magic. On a delightfully unexpected note, our cappuccino even had a special guest appearance! By sheer accident, we managed to capture Sri Lankan cricket star Kusal Mendis photobombing our coffee shot. We certainly have no complaints—it’s not every day your morning brew gets a celebrity endorsement.😂

Delifrance at ODEL mall in Alexandra Place offers a luxurious shopping experience with a terrace featuring various eateries. It's a great spot to watch affluent Sri Lankans while enjoying a vegan lunch. The place is known for its delicious croissants, both sweet and savory, and you can even customize your own filling. They also serve coffee and other drinks. The watermelon juice is highly recommended, but the baguette may be too hard for sandwiches.

We visited the place on 28th March 2025. We bought a caffe latte, cafe mocha and a tres leches cake piece. It was around 3000/=. Service is good. Place is expensive. Good to have a coffee on the go. Since it’s inside the ODEL building, air conditioned. Recommended.

Absolutely loved the Delifrance at ODEL! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, it really makes a difference. If you’re a croissant fan, this is the place. Their almond croissant is perfection, melts in the mouth and they somehow manage to make everything better with croissants. Also tried their egg mayo sandwich on baguette bread, delicious and filling, especially when paired with their combo of tea or coffee and a muffin. Although it’s located in a mall setting, it wasn’t too crowded when we visited, so it was surprisingly relaxed. Great for a quick, tasty bite and excellent service. Highly recommend! 👌✨

Excellent food! The continental breakfast and tandoori chicken sandwich were so great. Would definitely recommend. They also do great coffees. Super efficient service within 5 mins of ordering! Fast and very fresh food!
Sandunika B — Google review
Quality of food has really gone down. The filling to bread ratio is pretty sad and the croissants are super oily. The chocolate croissant was ok. We also tried the quiche which was totally underwhelming.

The food was delicious as usual. We had the High tea platter for two and couldn’t finish it between the 3 of us. All items were served fresh and they were delicious. The service was excellent!
Harshani T — Google review
Located within the ODEL Promenade Mall, Délifrance continues to deliver on its core promise—exceptional French-style pastries with thoughtfully balanced flavors. However, while the food shines, there’s one clear change that’s dimmed the experience: the relocation indoors. 🥐 Croissants – 5/5 for Quality and Craftsmanship We tried both the Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Mayo croissants, and they were absolutely top-tier. Flaky, golden layers that crackle just right when bitten into—these croissants are clearly made with care. After chatting with the manager, we were impressed to learn that each croissant is baked from scratch on-site, a rare gem in Colombo's pastry scene. The fillings were both perfectly balanced—the tandoori chicken had just the right amount of spice, while the chicken mayo was creamy and subtle. Our only suggestion would be to slice garnishes like tomatoes more finely, as chunkier cuts slightly interrupt the otherwise smooth texture of the bite. For items crossing LKR 1,000, we feel the croissants could be a touch larger or packed with a bit more filling, but overall, the quality justifies the price. ☕ Coffee – 4/5 Smooth, consistent, and satisfying. The coffee was well brewed and a strong companion to the rich, buttery croissants. A slightly deeper roast profile or stronger note would earn that final star, but it’s a solid offering as is. 🍫 Chocolate Croissant – A Sweet Hit Served warm, the chocolate croissant was a delight—the chocolate inside was perfectly melted, and the exterior retained its flakiness. Simple, satisfying, and a must-have for those with a sweet tooth. 🪑 Location & Ambience – A Step in the Wrong Direction Here’s where things take a slight dip. Délifrance was previously located outdoors, with a breezy, open-air setting that added immense charm and comfort to the overall experience. Unfortunately, their move indoors into the shopping mall area has stripped away that cozy, inviting café vibe. The current setup feels cramped, lacking natural light and ambience, and frankly doesn't do justice to the quality of food being served. We strongly urge Délifrance to reconsider moving back outside—the food deserves a space that matches its standard. 🛎️ Service & Promotions – Needs Attention During our visit, there was noticeable confusion between the team and management regarding ongoing promotions. Customers were left waiting as staff scrambled for clarity. A bit more coordination and internal communication would make a world of difference to the overall experience. 🌟 Final Verdict Délifrance at ODEL Promenade Mall gets it right where it matters most—the food. From beautifully flaky croissants to warming coffee and indulgent desserts, it’s a standout for pastry lovers. But to truly elevate the customer experience, attention must be given to ambience and internal coordination. Overall Rating: 4.5/5 ✅ Flawless croissants made fresh ☕ Quality coffee 🍫 Chocolate croissant a must ⚠️ Ambience and staff communication need work 📍 Please move back outdoors—your food deserves better A must-visit for the pastries—just wish we could enjoy them with a view and a breeze like before.

2023: I stopped in today for a Coffee and decided to order a Cappuccino and it was great. They still don’t have any pastries like they used to have when they were located inside Odel. Staff were friendly and nice. Their Cap Art was cool, not that it matters. 2022: I used to love Delifrance when it was located inside Odel and they had lots European food. I have not been to Sri Lanka for the past three years due to Covid, so I was surprised to see they have their own location just outside the Odel. It made me happy to see this but unfortunately, after going inside I found they no longer have the Cinnamon rolls and other European food. The only thing I saw was pretty much the same Sri Lankan short eats the Fab and P&S serve. They should rename the place DeliLanka. We ordered a iced coffee and iced latte and they were good. We also ordered some mutton rolls and those were good as well but the fish roll we ordered was so bad I couldn’t take more than two bites of it because it was so fishy tasting. I won’t be going there again since the Sri Lankan short eats at fab are much better than this. Bring back the original Delifrance! The staff are friendly and nice, no issues with them.

Geek HQ is a popular spot for comic and Star Wars fans, with an array of characters on display that bring back childhood memories. The ambiance is great, making it a perfect place to unwind after work. The staff are friendly and the majority of items are reasonably priced. While parking may be limited, the food doesn't disappoint in terms of flavor, portion size, and presentation. A fantastic place to have burgers. They don’t have a very big variety of burgers. Yet the available ones are superb. Service, presentation and the taste is terrific. They didn’t let us go to the upstair dining area because we didn’t have 5 people. Ambiance in the ground floor is superb. BOYB is also available😉.

Pros: The place was awesome (ambience), the food did not disappoint when flavor, portion size and presentation was considered, probably the best place for geeks to hangout in Sri Lanka and the customer service was satisfying. Cons: lack of parking space and food seems to be a bit over priced. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone who wanna try something new. This place definitely got a lot of potential.

New cafe not just for geeks, but for foodies too. Their menu is simple, yet varied so it's got something for everyone. They have a massive burger that looks like it'll prove to be their most popular item. They've also got a very extensive list of beverages, both hot and cold. Prices are reasonable and service is on point. Don't forget to gawk at the awesome artwork on their ceiling.

I was hyped about the burger they are promoting but it was disappointing. Not worth the money. Nothing "extraordinary" Way too much mayo and sauce. Patty was not bad but still won't cover up the price. I felt like there wasn't any "heart" put in to the preparation. Sub was okay. Nothing special. Place is good for a different experience. Food is ordinary for me.

It's awesome. The effort they have taken to secure their comic theme is above expectations. Even the menu apperanece name of the menu items, everything is getting par with the theme. Only two items were available for vegs from the mains and that was a little bummer. Maybe they can add some veg pasta. However the food was awesome. It was a nice experience we had.

The worst burger I ever had in my life was from this place. I don’t recommend this place to anyone reasons 1. Food is low quality and disgusting, bad smelling 2. Burgers are not fresh tasty 3. Staff is not friendly- they seems very lazy 4. No dedicated parking 5. No card payments 6. Food is not worth money Only one reason I love about this place was the surroundings of lot of comic characters and designs related to Geek Magazines. When I was eating their burger I was regretting as I could have eat such a best burgers in Burger King or MCDonals ... Im a burger fan and I had tasted lots of burgers from different places I would say this burger is the worst. Its so disgusting as such it was not fresh. I’m suspicious that was spoiled. Please never ever go to this place to have food. If you want to enjoy the comic geek atmosphere that only what you can get.

The food was not the best and we tried the so-called “biggest burger in Sri Lanka” and was not happy with the taste and the flavoring. Had the cheesy fries, where some melted cheese was added on top of some fries (not baked with cheese). The cheese was tasteless and it didn’t go well with the fries. Also the same cheese was added to the burger as well. Not a good match at all. The drinks were all right. I liked the peanut butter smoothie. I liked the concept of the restaurant which is something very unique.

Nestled along Stratford Avenue, The Cauldron is a delightful vegan haven in Colombo that masterfully blends Sri Lankan flavors with innovative plant-based cuisine. One standout dish is their Cheesy Pol Roti Kottu, which features a trio of cheeses—mozzarella, cheddar, and parmesan—infused into homemade coconut roti for an explosion of flavor. This chic café boasts a cozy ambiance with natural light streaming through its lounge area, complemented by modern furnishings and leather sofas that invite relaxation.
Had the Fried Popcorn Chicken , Stir Fried Chili Prawn Noodles, Chicken Ham & Cheese Pasta , Chicken Meatballs Spaghetti and Butter Beer The food was good , especially the Fried Popcorn Chicken which was absolutely tasty. But the Butter Beer did lack a good taste but was okay. The staff is really nice & helpful and the atmosphere is really good.

Lovey interior and a real hip place to have a meal and work , saw a few busily engaged even for a Sunday evening . They have a amazing menu and had high expectations on the food but unfortunately have to say it was average , waffle was too hard , the pol rotti koththu which I had a lot of expectations needs some fresh rotti as that too was too hard , would have been perfect if it was nice and spongy . The drinks however were amazing , hot chocolate and that “traditional” coffee was next level . Best part they have a QR code ordering mechanism , makes life so easy .

Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. We ordered a chicken meatball spaghetti and a chicken ham and cheese spaghetti. The food was okay but could improve a bit. But definitely recommend as a hangout spot or to get some work done. Great place and will definitely be coming back

The food was really good and affordable and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. I especially loved the convenience of having QR codes at each table, super easy to scan, order, and pay online. Overall, a great experience!

Honestly reading the other reviews just left me thinking did we even go to the same cafe! The food was okay, we had the pol roti cheese kotthu and chicken kotthu. I am not a fan of the pol roti in kotthu but the flavours were on point. The drinks on the other hand were SO bad. Kirikopi tasted like it had been made with old/stale coffee. Couldn’t even finish half. Peach iced tea was watered down too much. Cafe mocha tasted like a latte. We wanted to get desserts but they just had a single slice of each cake inside a cloche, near the cashier. We asked if it was for display and they said no, that’s what will be served 😳 I asked if the cake slice wouldn’t be dry by being exposed like that and no answer for that. Apparently they keep their cakes frozen and only defrost one slice at a time? Very confusing answers and system. We tried the brownie which was microwaved for us and served warm topped with ice cream. Brownie was terrible, could bite sugar crystals throughout and it was just… terrible. The interior is nice but very tired looking. Needs some upkeep. Staff need to be trained better, we had to ask for napkins and then also she brought us just one!

I recently visited The Cauldron Café, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a lovely vibe that made it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal. Recommended dishes - Three cheese Pol roti kottu with large sausages, Chicken curry, polsambol & cheese roast pan
Oshan M — Google review
This spot has a uniquely creative menu with items like roast paan topped with pol sambol, chicken curry and cheese, butterbeer, and cinnamon hot chocolate — definitely not your everyday offerings. While the taste doesn't quite live up to the excitement of the menu, the atmosphere and service are absolutely top-notch. It’s a charming place with great vibes — perfect for a girls’ day out! 💯

Tasty food. The pol roti cheese kottu was very good. The rice was tasty. The pasta was mid imo. Didn't taste any Nutella in The Nutella shake tho. There wasn't any service charges. Took about 20 for the food arrive.

Monkeybean Cafe offers a delightful experience with its delectable chocolate cake, perfect for sharing among friends. The cafe provides a serene and tranquil ambiance, making it an ideal spot for hanging out or even holding small gatherings or meetings. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, as well as friendly staff and a menu featuring fresh ingredients, Monkeybean Cafe is the perfect place to enjoy tasty food while taking in stunning sea views.
Monkey Bean Cafe has a cozy and cheerful vibe with a nice yellow interior that feels welcoming. The food was tasty and well-presented, with a good range of options for both snacks and drinks. Service was quick and attentive. What really stood out was how friendly and helpful the manager was, he checked in personally to make sure everything was fine and even offered some good menu suggestions. That kind of attention made the visit feel personal and warm. A great spot for a relaxed evening or a casual meet-up. I’ll definitely be back.
Amila K — Google review
Monkey Bean Café serves strong, flavorful coffee, and their brownies and cake slices are absolutely delicious, rich, fresh, and satisfying! The French fries were also a pleasant surprise, crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned. The only downside during my visit was that some interior repairs were going on, so it was a bit noisy inside. But despite the noise, the food and drinks definitely made up for it.
Chamodi G — Google review
The café is in a nice, cozy spot where you can unwind and enjoy the beautiful ambiance with good background music. However, it could use a bit of maintenance, and the service was quite disappointing especially since was one of the first few customers in the morning. I ordered the egg and ham panini with a flat white. The food was decent, but it could be better, and given the portion size, it didn't feel worth the price. Overall, it was just an okay experience.

Nice spot with a chill atmosphere, great for hanging out or getting some work done. I tried the Ice Latte and Vanilla Cake: decent, but not quite worth the price. Excellent customer service, though, and the view of the sea and railway adds a really nice touch.

Visited for the first time to do some office work over the weekend. The place was really nice and relaxing. Even though it’s close to the road, it’s very quiet inside. We loved the calm atmosphere and good service. It’s a great spot if you enjoy working or unwinding while watching trains and the beach. We ordered affogato and mocha with cookies — the affogato was perfect! The mocha was good too, but could be slightly improved. The menu has a good variety, and overall, it’s a peaceful place. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing environment to work or chill.

The first thing is excellent customer service. Staff members are very friendly. The cafe has a great interior. I have tried their Meatballs Panini. It was so delicious. The bread was very soft and the meatballs filling also had a good portion. In here, for the first time I tried a Jasmine Rose Kombucha. It was really good and I loved it. They have Kombucha in five flavors. You can use Mintpay and Koko for the payment here. Good Cafe.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had the loveliest experience at Monkeybean Café by the sea in Colombo! We celebrated my daughter’s birthday here, and from start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make it special. The warm smiles, thoughtful service, and kind gestures truly made us feel welcome. The view of the ocean was the perfect backdrop, and the relaxed, cozy atmosphere made it even more memorable. The food and drinks were fresh and delicious, with something for everyone to enjoy. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team for making our day so special — we’ll definitely be back!

Lovely air conditioned coffee shop serving great coffee with smiles. Their food and breakfast spread options were great too. The manager Aravind deserves a special shout out as he just one of the most amazing human beings. He helped us plan our itinerary, gave great suggestions, and also helped us with the cab driver who turned out to be great as well. As two female travellers, we really appreciate this help from him as it made our trip great! Apart from that the location, coffee and food were great in itself :) Thanks! PS - perfect to grab coffee/breakfast if you stay nearby in any airbnbs or hotels around the beach.

A quaint tea house, TeaTalk is perfect for a relaxing afternoon. With good food and service, as well as a lovely outdoor area, it's the perfect place to spend some time with friends. You can also bring your own drinks and snacks, so there's no need to leave your comfort zone.
Place really nice with great staff. Room are extremely worth the price (don’t expect 5 star quality rooms but for the price they are awesome clean and nice I hope they will do a bit of renovations soon to level up the overall quality of the room). They have a limited but superb food that I think you must try.

Two stars only because the room was clean, and staff and security guard were friendly, but the bed sheets were torn. The side mirrors of our car were stolen while we were parked on their driveway, the CCTV cameras don’t work and the manager never even contacted us. The lack of courtesy is really disappointing.

A nice cozy place located right next to Lanka hospital in park road. Ideal place to hangout with friends and have a chat while eating good food. It won’t leave a dent in your wallet as well. Staff was friendly. Would love to head over to the place again for sure. They have there own tea corner where you can buy different types of Ceylon tea which you can take home. 🙂

Tasty and quality serving and a very reasonable pricing for the superb service and relaxed ambiance of a perfect place two chill for two or a fab team reunion. Has awesome Karaoke facilities to groups and an Open-mic night every 1st sunday of month, apart from the lodging upstairs. Have an exclusive brand of its own in the middle of the city with a decent crowd and a very reasonable menu.

Its a nice place for a small chit-chat. Especially if you're looking for a small and comfortable space to hang out with your friends or business associates. Their tea was good and good prices. However, didn't experience anything much on the service. It was difficult to find while driving as i couldn't locate any signs of the place facing the road.

Superb place to have a tea and relax. Very nice, spacious, quiet and beautiful atmosphere. Pleasant interior with wonderful seating arrangements. Staffs are very good and their service is excellent. There are many restaurants surrounded by this place.

Myself and my partner frequent Lattice whenever we find ourselves in Colombo. It's a great way to end our day with a wonderful cup of tea and on occasion a cake to indulge. Sometimes we'll have an alcoholic drink and the bar has many options to choose from. The waiting staff are so attentive, very helpful and professional. We are made to feel welcome each and every time we visit. Staff are second to none in the area of hotel chains. We really are happy with the service given. The atmosphere is lovely, quite relaxing and the chairs are very comfortable. I will say, however, that the few times they decide to have a live performer the music can get way too loud and spoil the soft ambience. The cakes are lovely, although, I would avoid the "cheese"cake as they aren't exactly your typical cheesecake. It's very gelatinous. However, that's the *only* downside of their cake selection. We will always come back. We truly believe it's the best cup of tea at a great price in the whole of Colombo.

Taj Samudra is a Sri Lankan hotel that we have known since childhood, that's why we decided to go there for the High Tea buffet. The High Tea buffet was held in the lattice restaurant in the lobby area with a beautiful free environment. The Taj lobby is a beautiful environment that looks Indian anyway. the buffet had sandwiches, pastries, desserts, and some beverages . All the food is very tasty and the friendly staff must be mentioned. You can choose the Kringsbury Hotel for a free high tea platter experience. Highly recommended.

Galle Face Hotel is a luxurious 4-star hotel located in Colombo, offering modern amenities while still retaining its old colonial charm. It's conveniently situated just south of the city center and provides easy access to various attractions. The hotel has hosted numerous famous guests over the years and offers a unique evening experience with sunset cocktails on the Chequerboard lawn terrace, accompanied by a bagpiper serenading the flag-lowering ritual.
Lovely hotel. I didn't actually stay here. I just came for the buffet which was amazing. Wide range of breakfast items to choose from. Food that's actually thoroughly cooked AND hot. Also, pork! Delicious pork in different varieties! Pork, pastries and a full café selection! Absolutely wonderful. The staff were exceedingly courteous and professional. I was made to feel welcome; treated with dignity and respect. Much appreciated. Thank you for having me!

Galle face hotel is all about history, colonial charm, and one of the best location in Colombo! The service there is excellent, staff are well trained. The entire property is very well kept, every part is history. It is directly facing the Indian ocean, watching sunsets and sipping a cool drink by kbe of their bars is a must do! This is part of what makes fond memories of Colombo. Let's talk about the room. I have one of those standard room, which is a bit further away from the main foyer. But good thing is, it is closer to the restaurant that serves buffet (excellent btw). Because it's an old property, many parts are made of wood, floor creaks when u walk even window frames are made of wood. The window didn't cut out much noise from the ocean waves and the band playing until around midnight. The electric plugs are old, some of the cables of the lights are torn and pose great risks. The hot water system is intermittent, hot and cold randomly. In my opinion, this part of the property really could do with a make over and modernization. But the room rate is very reasonable. So, all in all, it isn't a bad experience at all. I recommend to anyone to stay here once, to get that experience of staying at a charming iconic hotel.

I recently had lunch at the iconic Galle Face Hotel, and it was a truly memorable experience. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt elegant and welcoming, with that unique blend of heritage charm and modern comfort the hotel is known for. The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish was prepared with care, and you could really feel the quality and authenticity in each bite. The service was equally impressive. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. Dining with the ocean breeze and stunning views added an extra touch of magic to the whole experience. Galle Face Hotel continues to stand out as a place where tradition meets outstanding hospitality. Thank you to the entire team for making our lunch both enjoyable and memorable.

We stayed two nights here. Staffs are very friendly and assist with everything. The location is very good. We had high tea at their restaurant it was really good. Generally food is very good. You get historical old world experience there. The museum and the history of the place is interesting. I give 4 stars because the place has a bit of smell and lot of moisture. Floors are very slippery we had to be very careful when we walk on them. I will definitely recommend this place.

A ‘must stay’ when visiting Colombo - while it may not be the ritzy new hotels, the charm and colonial quaintness is what you experience. Bagpipes played at lowering of the Sri Lanka flag at sunset, G&Ts/cocktails on the lawn or patio, or lounging by the 25m pool (salt water, filtered from the sea) - I am so glad we cancelled our local ‘new’ hotel to stay here. The staff are extremely friendly, polite, but not overly ‘hovering’ and all are very proud of the Galle Face traditions. Established in 1864 you get yesterdays charm with tomorrows comfort! Beds were comfy, room was quiet, and wonderfully cold after our warm day walking around Colombo. We did not buffet dine, but ordered off the A la carte menu on the patio - excellent taste and well prepared. You won’t regret your stay!

I visited there for the boxing day High-tea with my friends. The galle face sea view as we all know is breathtaking. The food was good. The buns were a little dry however there wasn’t any other dishes disappointing us. This is one of the oldest five-star hotels in Colombo. I have been there for Lunch buffet as well. Would rate it 4/5 overall

The Galle Face Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka, opened in 1864, evolving from a Dutch villa into a world-renowned luxury hotel. Built by four British entrepreneurs and named after the Galle Face Green it overlooks, this historic landmark has welcomed many iconic figures over the years — from politicians like Richard Nixon and Indira Gandhi to artists such as Arthur C. Clarke and Harrison Ford. The hotel’s timeless Victorian-era architecture and colonial charm have been carefully preserved through extensive restorations, including a major renovation of the South Wing in 2006, blending heritage with modern comfort. Everything about this place feels exceptional — the food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the architecture is simply stunning. It’s easily accessible from the main road, with secure parking available. The atmosphere attracts both locals and foreigners alike, and the rates are quite reasonable considering the premium experience you get. Truly a must-visit gem in Colombo.
