Nestled in the heart of Colombo, Hilton Colombo Residences is an upscale hotel that provides efficient service and clean amenities. The hotel offers a restaurant, cocktail lounge, outdoor pool, sauna, and gym for guests to enjoy. With panoramic views of the city, harbor or Indian Ocean from its rooms and suites, this hotel is ideal for long-term stays as well as family events and vacations.
From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel warmly welcomed and truly cared for. The spacious suites were perfect for our family modern, spotless, and thoughtfully designed, with breathtaking views of the city and lotus tower. It really felt like a home away from home, with all the comfort and luxury you could ask for. The service was exceptional every staff member we met was friendly, professional, and attentive. They went the extra mile to make our stay special, especially for our child, who was treated with such warmth and kindness. We loved the pool and recreation facilities, which were ideal for family relaxation, and the dining options were excellent (specially Sunday Brunch). The breakfast buffet had a wide variety, and the kids enjoyed every bit of it. Overall gave us the perfect balance of luxury, comfort, and family friendly hospitality. We left with beautiful memories and will definitely return on our next Colombo visit. Highly recommend it to families looking for a perfect getaway!

I have been a Diamond member for a while and have travelled for business and leisure to various Hilton properties abroad. When considering where to stay while on vacation for a month here in Sri Lanka, I wanted to begin our journey right, so decided to book at the Colombo Residences location(as similar to Homewood Suites, they have condo suite style layouts). I couldn't have been more right(and happy) about expecting an awesome experience since Hilton locations have always had a special home away from home comfort while travelling. And this location exceeded all expectations by an immeasurable amount. From the moment I checked in, the evening front desk staff were so kind and warm with their hospitality. As I had Diamond status, I received a very quick and efficient complimentary upgrade to an executive suite on a high floor with possibly the most amazing view of the Lotus Tower. The accommodations were incredibly spacious, modern and comfortable. We also had the opportunity to dine at the hotel restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner over the course of our stay, as the consistency of the exemplary service continued there as well. Extraordinarily kind and knowledgeable staff combined with a diverse variety of quality(sincere compliments to the various Chefs and attendants) food choices across various times of the day, led to a delicious experience. The overall stay reinforced a sense of comfort and safety as well, because the location is extremely secure. It cannot be stated enough how amazing the entire host of various staff members at this location are. Their kindness, friendliness, hospitality and efficiency were incredible to witness. We have already booked and are definitely looking forward to our next multiple day stays at the Hilton Colombo Residences. If you are visiting or traveling through the city, this location is highly recommended, as it checks off all the highest standards of a luxurious Hilton stay, as our stay was beyond perfect.

Overall 5 stars for our stay. The food (breakfast buffet and dinner buffet superb with lots of options and super friendly staff). Check in very smooth (we arrived at 4am so booked the night before). 30m long pool with many lanes and kiddy pools with playground lots of fun for the kids. Also a steam room, Finnish sauna, and jacuzzi inside the gym area. We had a 3 bedroom apartment which had a king bed, a queen bed, and 2 twins. The living room had a regular non fold out sofa. Also 2 full baths, a big kitchen and washer/dryer. The rooms are getting slightly dated but nothing to complain about - everything was clean and the entire stay was good. Thanks 🙏

Had a wonderful stay at Hilton Colombo Residences! The rooms are very spacious and well-designed, giving more of a serviced apartment feel — perfect for staying with friends and enjoying time together in the same space. The staff were extremely polite and helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast spread was huge with plenty of delicious options to choose from. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended for both short and long stays in Colombo

We recently hosted our event “Paulians Shimmer in Gold” on 23rd August at the Union Ballroom, Hilton Residencies Colombo, and it was a truly memorable experience. A very special thanks to Ruwan Amaraseka, Kashmiira Pathirana, and the entire Hilton team for their outstanding service. From the planning stages to the end of the evening, the staff were extremely supportive, friendly, and attentive to every detail, making sure everything went smoothly. The food was excellent and enjoyed by all our guests, perfectly complementing the elegant atmosphere of the ballroom. We are deeply grateful to the Hilton Residencies Colombo team for their professionalism and warm hospitality. You truly made our celebration shine!

While our overall stay at Colombo Villa Collection had its highlights, we feel it’s important to share an unfortunate experience that affected our visit. On the day of our checkout, although we were informed we could remain on the property until 12pm, the villa had also been rented out to another party from 8am. This resulted in unexpected disruption and a clear clash in the use of the space. We had spent a significant amount of money on our stay, and expected to have full access to the property until the agreed checkout time. Unfortunately, we were only informed of the overlapping booking late the night before, when the owner visited us briefly. While we acknowledge the gesture, the conversation seemed more focused on avoiding negative feedback than offering a sincere apology or solution. The issue was largely brushed aside rather than responsibly addressed. That said, the villa itself is beautiful — clean, peaceful, and well-maintained. The service staff were warm, attentive, and helpful throughout, which we genuinely appreciated. With better communication and more respect for guests’ time and investment, the experience could easily match the quality of the space.

Stayed a number of times at the Villa in November. Convenient very centrally placed in quiet and safe area of Colombo. Very close to National Museum. Leafy, shaded streets among embassies and government offices and private villas. The Villa has the feel of an old private mansion, slightly faded, but I personally like that. Impeccable service from the staff! Enormously friendly and helpful!

Ishq Colombo is a luxurious villa located in Colombo, just 2.3 km from Galle Face Beach. This stunning four-suite family villa offers an outdoor swimming pool, free WiFi, and 24-hour front desk service. The property includes a private pool, garden, and complimentary private parking.
This was our first trip to Colombo and this property really made our trip excellent. The property itself is gorgeous. It is tucked away in the city and once you walk back into the villa, all the noises of the city disappear. It is a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city. The property is well curated and the rooms are amazing. The staff went above and beyond to make sure all of our needs were met and the chef is amazing. We had a few meals there and walked away very happy. They also organized all of our hotel transfers and city tours! If you are in Colombo add this property to your list of places to stay. An absolutely wonderful experience!

After a long flight this place was such a nice quiet and serene stop in the colonial manner I was looking for. It has all the amenities of modern establishments but the colonial beauty of the houses of by gone eras ! Service was as impeccable. But beware 🤔 take earplugs because it's possible you might be awakened by BUMPS IN THE NIGHT! We had maybe monkeys?playing on our roof!! A bit scary when you are asleep and it sounds like they are in the room!!!🤪🤪🤪

Spent three perfect nights at Ishq. The boutique hotel and the service was impeccable. Asunga and his team were extremely attentive looking after us. The food at breakfast and dinner was amazing and the luxury villas are absolutely stunning. Don’t look anywhere else, just book it!

Luxury personified. We stayed in Master suite 1. This consisted of a bedroom, large lounge, dressing room and bathroom. We also had an outside terrace. Asanga was our host for our stay and we couldn't ask for anyone more attentive or caring. The food is superb. We had the afternoon tea when we arrived which was wonderful. Breakfast was equally delicious. This is a wonderful luxurious, peaceful oasis in Colombo which I wholeheartedly recommend.

What a beautyfull stay here! The warm welcome after a long flight, the oasis of quietness in the middle of the city of Colombo. Very clean, friendly, and so nively decorated! The service is so amazingly good, I would give a 6-star review instead of the laximum 5. Very nice people, helpfull, respectfull. Thank you so much for this experience!

Last stay (1 night) of our Sri Lanka trip and one of the highlights. We booked a double room but got a much appreciated upgrade. The Villa is an architecture gem, with curated design, rooms and garden. Top notch service and hospitality, with right level of attentiveness. Restaurant is also high level although a bit pricey, but worth it. Only missing coffee machine/kettle in the room, the rest of the amenities was great.
Amine J — Google review
An all-round perfect stay. On the occasion of my brother's wedding and at the end of a round trip, we chose the Ishq as our retreat from the hustle and bustle of Colombo. And it was in every respect. Excellent service and the feeling of being at home. One of the best places we stayed on our trip through Sri Lanka.

Nestled in the heart of Colombo, Gangaramaya Temple is a historic Buddhist sanctuary that beautifully blends spirituality with cultural heritage. Established over 120 years ago by Don Bastian, this temple complex spans two locations—one floating on the tranquil waters of Biera Lake and another nearby. The serene floating section features stunning Buddhist statues encircling a central atrium and sacred Bo tree, creating an atmosphere of peace and reflection.
A beautiful and peaceful place to visit in Colombo. The temple is full of history, with lots of antique items and fascinating artifacts to see. The intricate designs, statues, and cultural displays make it not just a religious site but also a museum like experience.

Here’s the story of Gangaramaya Temple (Gangaramaya Vihara) in Colombo 🌸: ⸻ 📜 Origins & Early History • The temple was founded in the late 19th century by the famous scholar-monk Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thera. • At that time, Colombo was developing rapidly under colonial rule, and the temple became a center for Buddhist education and culture. ⸻ 🌸 Growth & Significance • The temple’s development was continued under Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero (“Podi Hamuduruwo”), who expanded it into what it is today. • Unlike many traditional temples, Gangaramaya became a mix of religious, educational, and cultural institution. • It served as a learning center for monks and laypeople, teaching Buddhism, vocational training, and even social services. ⸻ 🏛️ Architecture & Collections • The temple is famous for its fusion of Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese styles. • Inside, you’ll find: • Hundreds of Buddha statues (from Sri Lanka and abroad). • A Bodhi tree grown from a sapling of the sacred Anuradhapura tree. • An eclectic museum-like collection of antiques, gifts, ivory carvings, coins, even vintage cars. • A library and educational halls. ⸻ 🙏 Cultural & Social Role • Gangaramaya is not just a temple — it has played a big role in Colombo’s Buddhist revival during colonial times. • It runs orphanages, vocational training programs, and charitable projects. • Every year, it hosts the Navam Perahera, one of Colombo’s grandest Buddhist processions, with elephants, dancers, and drummers. ⸻ ✨ Today • The temple remains one of Colombo’s most visited sites — both as a place of worship and as a tourist attraction. • It is sometimes called a “living museum” because of its unusual blend of the sacred and the worldly. ⸻ Would you like me to create a short storytelling version of Gangaramaya’s history — something you could use for a tour guide script or social media caption?
Jeya B — Google review
Rising gracefully beside the tranquil waters of Beira Lake, the Gangaramaya Temple stands as one of Colombo’s most treasured landmarks — a living blend of spirituality, history, and culture. Its story begins in the late 19th century, when the revered monk Venerable Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thera founded it as part of a great Buddhist revival movement sweeping through Sri Lanka. What started as a modest shrine grew steadily into a vibrant temple complex, serving not only as a place of worship but also as a center of education, charity, and community life. Stepping into Gangaramaya is like walking through a kaleidoscope of cultures. The temple’s architecture is an eclectic fusion of Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese influences, reflected in its golden pagodas, intricate carvings, and vivid murals. The Seema Malaka, an elegant assembly hall floating serenely on Beira Lake, was designed by Sri Lanka’s legendary architect Geoffrey Bawa, offering a peaceful refuge for meditation. Inside the main temple, one encounters an astonishing museum of treasures — rows of Buddha statues from across Asia, antique coins, elaborate gifts from devotees around the world, and even vintage cars that tell stories of eras long past. Beyond its architectural beauty, Gangaramaya Temple pulses with life and purpose. It has become a cornerstone of Colombo’s Buddhist community, supporting orphans, vocational trainees, and the elderly through its social service initiatives. Each year, in February, the temple bursts into color and rhythm during the Gangaramaya Navam Perahera, a magnificent procession of elephants, dancers, and drummers that winds through the city, celebrating the enduring spirit of Buddhism. And during Vesak, the temple glows under thousands of lanterns, transforming into a sea of light and devotion. For visitors, Gangaramaya offers a rare blend of reverence and wonder. Modest dress is expected — shoulders and knees covered, shoes removed — as a sign of respect. Whether you come to meditate, marvel at its artistry, or simply watch the golden reflections on Beira Lake, this temple promises a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s spiritual soul. In the heart of a bustling modern city, Gangaramaya remains a sanctuary of peace — where the ancient and the contemporary, the sacred and the worldly, coexist in perfect harmony.

One of Colombo’s most famous temples, combining traditional and modern architecture. A peaceful and culturally rich spot in the heart of the city. Pros: Stunning architecture blending Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese styles. Museum inside the temple complex showcasing interesting artifacts. Well-maintained grounds and friendly staff. Cons: Can get crowded during weekends or festivals. Entry fee is 500 LKR for temple plus museum. Tip: Visit in the morning to avoid crowds. Dress modestly and respect temple rules. Great place for photography and cultural exploration."
Nomadic Z — Google review
A must-see at the heart of the city. It features separate sections allowing you to observe different parts and the history of the faith and the temple itself. Entry costs 500 rupees. The ticket also grants access to the small temple on the lake across the street. Important note: Be prepared to take off your shoes as it is compulsory. The floor is usually wet, so either bring a spare pair of socks or go barefoot.
Eren K — Google review
A beautiful and peaceful temple in the middle of Colombo. The golden Buddha statues, calm lake surroundings, and city lights create a stunning and serene atmosphere. It’s well maintained, quiet, and perfect for evening visits or moments of reflection. A must-visit spot to experience both spirituality and the beauty of the city.
Mihan M — Google review
Visiting the Temple was an absolutely amazing experience. It's so much more than just a temple; it's a vibrant center of knowledge and culture. The collection of sculptures is incredible, with so much history and detail to see. Watching the people quietly praying added to the powerful and peaceful atmosphere. It's a truly fascinating place to visit and learn.

Don Bastian de Silva Jayasuriya Goonewardane, a 19th-century shipping merchant who was seeking suitable land to build a temple for the Matara Sri Dharmarama thero, bought a beautiful tract belonging to three Moors, and filled and prepared the land at great expense. The land was bordered on two sides by the Moragoda Ela and the Pettigala Ela was used to build the temple, which was subsequently named the Padawthota Gangaramaya Viharaya. The Mudaliyar, with the assistance of the people built a great 'Chaitya' (Dagaba) of 30 Riyans, and built a great decorative arch (thorana) and a 'Sandakada pahana' modeled on the ones found at Anuradhapura, at the entrance to the temple. A 'Bo' sapling brought from the great Sri Maha Bhodiya in Anuradhapura, was planted with his own hands and nurtured. He also built a three-storied preaching hall, walls, railings and the moat around the temple.

The National Museum of Colombo is one of Sri Lanka’s most remarkable cultural treasures. Located in the heart of Colombo, this grand white colonial-era building, established in 1877 by Sir William Henry Gregory, offers visitors a deep insight into the island’s rich history and heritage. From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by centuries of fascinating artifacts — from ancient royal regalia and stone inscriptions to exquisite carvings and traditional art. One of the highlights is the regal throne and crown of the last King of Kandy, symbolizing Sri Lanka’s royal past. The museum also showcases prehistoric fossils, ancient coins, weapons, and an impressive collection of Buddhist statues, which reflect the island’s deep spiritual and artistic traditions. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, with clear explanations in both English and Sinhala, making it easy to follow Sri Lanka’s story through the ages. The museum’s surrounding gardens and peaceful atmosphere provide a perfect escape from the city’s bustle, adding to the overall experience. Whether you’re a local visitor or an international tourist, the National Museum of Colombo is a must-visit destination to truly understand Sri Lanka’s diverse cultural identity and its journey through time. It’s educational, inspiring, and beautifully preserved.

The Colombo National Museum offers a deep dive into Sri Lanka’s cultural and historical roots. The collection includes ancient art, statues, royal regalia, and traditional artifacts. The architecture of the museum is impressive and adds to the experience. Some areas could use better maintenance and air conditioning, but overall it’s a fascinating and educational visit for locals and tourists alike.

The National Museum of Sri Lanka is an absolute treasure trove of history and culture. From ancient royal artifacts to beautifully preserved traditional crafts, every exhibit tells a story about the island’s rich past. The building itself is stunning colonial architecture surrounded by peaceful gardens, perfect for a slow walk after exploring. The galleries are well organized and informative, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a great place to spend a couple of hours if you’re interested in art, history, or just want to understand Sri Lanka’s heritage.

The Colombo National Museum is an absolute gem for anyone eager to dive deep into Sri Lanka’s rich cultural and historical heritage. From the moment you step through its grand colonial-style entrance, you can feel the sense of history and pride that this place holds. Established in 1877, the museum beautifully preserves the island’s story through its impressive collection of ancient artifacts, royal regalia, traditional art, and centuries-old manuscripts. One of the most captivating sections is the display of the Kandyan throne and crown, which gives a glimpse into the grandeur of Sri Lanka’s last kingdom. The museum’s galleries are well-organized, taking visitors on a chronological journey through prehistoric times, ancient kingdoms, colonial influences, and the evolution of Sri Lankan art and culture. The life-sized statues of Buddha and the intricate carvings are simply mesmerizing, reflecting the country’s deep spiritual traditions. The building itself is a masterpiece — its white façade, lush garden surroundings, and tranquil atmosphere make it a delightful place to explore at your own pace. The staff are friendly and helpful, always ready to share insights that make the experience even more enriching. Whether you’re a history lover, an art enthusiast, or just a curious traveler, the Colombo National Museum offers something unforgettable. It’s not just a museum visit; it’s a journey through time that deepens your appreciation for Sri Lanka’s cultural soul. A must-visit destination in Colombo that leaves you inspired and enlightened!

They have a good zoological and botanical section which they'll exhibit for Universitites and Schools only on request. They have a small, well equipped auditorium for events as well. The director is a very polite and understanding officer. The museum doesn't display all the cultures and traditions celebrated in Srilanka as most of the treasures have been stolen during the colonial period.

Colombo National Museum is one of the iconic places to visit. The premises was donated by Sir William Henry Gregory, British Governor of Sri Lanka. One of the main attractions is the Throne of Sri Wikrama Raasingha, the last King of Ceylon which is displayed. Main building showcases the Sri Lankan heritage, culture, and history. The other building showcases about the Agriculture, Pre historic facts about Sri Lanka, Mammals and Bio diversity facts. Main attraction is the area of Mineral resources (Gems, Graphite, Phosphate, Silica)which are found in the island.

Restaurant
Upali's by Nawaloka is a top choice for those seeking traditional Sri Lankan cuisine in Colombo. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes suitable for vegans and vegetarians, from soups and salads to main courses and desserts. Once the childhood home of businessman Upali Dharmadasa, this establishment provides a homely atmosphere while serving mouthwatering rice and curry spreads during lunch hours.
I, absolutely love coming here, exceptional food every time. Before I start, the service does not match the quality of the taste and the food. Don’t get me wrong, the wait staff are great, there is not enough of them, and the customers end up waiting a long time. I love having the traditional rice and curry, and it is so good. The next trip I had the hoppers, and wow. Can’t beat that. We also shared some kitty roti and the dry beef curry, all exceptional. The watalappam was excellent and so was the caramel pudding. The restaurant is very clean and really worth the trip.

One of the popular Sri Lankan cuisine restaurants in Colombo, this place is favored by both locals and tourists, making it a trending spot. It is easily accessible from the main road, and parking is always available. The food is delicious, with each dish served as a single portion, making it perfect for sharing among kids. You can customize the spices to suit your preference. My favorites are the mutton kottu and prawn curry with roasted bread. All the ingredients are fresh, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Typically, there is no waiting time, which adds to the convenience. I highly recommend it for dinner, as the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere.

I tried the Sri Lankan mixed flavors platter and one of their desserts (photos attached). Both were delicious! The waiter was very kind, friendly, and attentive — he even gave us information while chatting with us. One small note: if you don’t want spicy food, make sure to mention it in advance. Overall, it’s definitely a place where you can comfortably enjoy a meal if you’re around. Highly recommended!

Greeted with smiles. We had fried rice both chicken and prawns. The isso thel dala was really nice. Spicy but delicious 😋. Also the potato fry was excellent. Service is excellent. The drinks were excellent. Genuine sri lankan culinary experience in the heart of colombo. You got nelum pokuna and the colombo council building for the view. Easy to have a conversation. The watalappan was fantastic as well. I didn't notice any artificial flavors or enhancers. It's a healthy genuine experience. Highly recommend!

The highlight of our short stayover at Colombo before heading to explore other parts of SL. When the 2 of us, ordered the Jaffna Crab Curry we were warned that the portion size is usually fit for 3-4 people. And to be fair, it is but little did they know our capacity to devour that delicious crab and soak in all the gravy into our set lunch menu plate with rice, bread and vegetables. I'm going to have dreams about that crab gravy. There were so many other things on the menu that caught our eye but our stomachs betrayed us by only allowing us to eat so much. Coming back again on the next visit to Colombo to savour more.
Nitin S — Google review
The service was exceptionally friendly, and the staff took the time to guide us through their extensive menu and explain the dishes. The food was delicious as well. We had roti paratha, veggie curry, prawns, milk hopper and buffalo milk. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a sri lankan experience in Colombo! :)

Fantastic Sri Lankan Fare in Colombo Upali's by Nawaloka is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in Colombo. From the moment you walk in, you'll appreciate the trendy, welcoming atmosphere—it's a chic spot to enjoy traditional food. The location is excellent, too, right in the heart of Colombo and conveniently close to Viharamahadevi Park. The menu truly delivers. Whether you're craving comforting staples like roast paan or looking for perfectly cooked meat dishes, Upali's has you covered. The flavors are genuinely authentic and utterly delicious. If you want a taste of real Sri Lanka in a vibrant setting, make a stop here. Highly recommended!

Poor food quality. We ordered the srilankan taster plate, they took more than 20 minutes to bring us the dish. String hoopers and hoppers were good, the garlic rice was extremely dry and the whole platter was very average, Unlike the other reviews…. Extremely disappointing. Fish and cuttlefish were average too. Not worth it. Poor service

Beira Lake is a stunning oasis located right in the heart of Colombo, offering a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle. This expansive lake features scenic paths along its shores and is home to the enchanting Seema Malakaya temple, which floats gracefully on its waters. With a rich history dating back to Portuguese rule, Beira Lake was originally constructed for protection against invaders. Over time, it became an essential part of Colombo's landscape as the British developed the area around it.
This lake gets its name from the era of Portuguese rule 100's of years ago, when it was a huge reservoir of more than 1.65sq km now reduced to only 0.65sq km due to multiple reasons. Situated right in the middle of Colombo, this lake gives a picturesque view of the surroundings. With all the big skyscrapers all around and the main financial hub of the town.

It is a small man made lake with a temple and meditation place. There is a ticket for foreign travellors with LKR 400 per adult. This ticket can be used in Gangaramaya temple as well. You can cover this place along with Gangaramya tempe as they are just a road apart

A wonderful green space and water feature with plenty of wildlife. A great place for an early morning walk to enjoy the sights. Wonderful place for kids to see the animals around the lake and enjoy a ride on a swan. The temple and small island with the bridge walkway are enjoyable. I think the city could do more in terms of better maintenance, repairing the walk ways. My hat off and thanks to the wonderful ladies who are busy cleaning in the mornings. Thank you! Support the people of Sri Lanka!

The Beira Lake is a lake which is situated in the center of Colombo City. It is surrounded by many large businesses in the city. The lake was built by the Portuguese in order to protect Colombo from enemies, especially local kings. The lake gets an inflow of water from the Kelani River and flows out to the Indian Ocean. The lake area includes a park which has swan boat rides, a suspension bridge with a small island in the middle of the lake. It is a great place to spend some quality time relaxing in serenity, especially in the evening. It is home to the Seema Malaka Temple and is located close to The Gangaramaya Temple.
Roshan T — Google review
This lake in Colombo is a really nice spot, both for the temple on the water and for the lovely ride on swan boats. You can rent one for 30 minuts and pedal on the water among many smily local people. The atmosphere is great and you will get a nice view of the city buildings surrounding the lake.

There is a passenger boat service from Union Place to Colombo Fort implemented as a solution to ease the traffic congestion. Passengers could use the service free-of-charge. This service is operated by the Sri Lanka Navy. It is possible to travel from Colombo Fort to Union Place in less than 15 minutes.
Chamali I — Google review
The Beira lake is situated in the heart of Colombo. Surrounded by sky rise apartments and malls, its just a lovely lake to walk around. There is a little bridge that you can take to walk over into the center and benches to sit and unwind. The walk around the lake is a good 2 km so its perfect for an evening run. There are also little peddle boats that you can rent and use in the lake. The Buddhist Temple is also accessible from here and makes a great visiting spot for tourists.

Geoffrey Bawa's Residence is a captivating destination for architecture enthusiasts visiting Colombo. Nestled at the end of a serene street, this home was where the legendary architect lived from 1960 to 1970. The residence beautifully showcases Bawa's signature style, blending traditional local elements with a striking white palette.
Visiting this place was a dream come true for us! Stepping into Geoffrey Bawa’s personal space felt like walking into a masterpiece. The way he blends indoor and outdoor spaces is pure genius—simple tricks, yet so impactful. Every corner radiates tranquility, reminding you why thoughtful design matters, even in a bustling city. That said, the tour itself left us wanting more. The guide struggled with English and stuck to surface-level details until we started asking more pointed questions. For the price, we hoped for a deeper dive into Bawa’s life and work. Still, the home is a must-visit for architecture lovers—it’s a glimpse into the mind of a legend.

An amazing and beautiful paradise, full of magic and wonder. Serene, architecturally amazing. A big tribute to everyone who runs the place and offers such solace and solid perfection.

a stunning home; the tour is rather short / has limited interaction considering how much you would pay (assuming you’re a foreigner), but I suppose you take away from it what you will. I had a pleasant time learning from our tour guide, who has been employed at the residence for 15 years, and is an expert in his own right. I visited at 10am on a Monday and our group had about 15 pax.
Hannah C — Google review
The Bawa Mansion is well preserved, and the administrator is very happy to assist with exploration and explanations. After a basic explanation of each location, you can ask him about the part you are interested in. The tour fee is 5000KLR per person. Suggestions for improving the video playback room:The film is a bit old, which adds to the retro feel, but it needs better picture and sound quality. The chairs are not sturdy enough to allow me to sit down and relax completely.

The atmosphere in where we were sitting is one of the most panoramic views I’ve ever seen, and the sounds of the wind chime are very soothing to the ears. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing. The sushi was amazing and the chicken gyoza was simply so mouthwatering. The tom yum goong and the seafood rice was heavenly. But, my most favorite food here was the cuttlefish. It almost tasted so fresh and hot, and it was just delicious! I loved this place so much, and if I can, I will definitely go again.

They have increased the prices of their Uber Eats offerings exponentially so I'm left with no choice but to give this review. Rates are now higher than well established food outlets. I don't see the logic in this because they lost me as a customer overnight and I would have kept buying till the place closed down or I died. Lol.

Really, a truly wonderful experience. I can't give high enough praise to the staff for making a wonderful stay. From the moment of check in I was treated with careful, individual attention. We booked the whole villa for oursleves everything was really fine and we liked the villa and the location. The cartaker was a very nice person but really sorry to say he should be taught to respect on some personal space of the guest where as he some times jumps in to our conversations. The beds and rooms were comfortable but not clean i would say, behind every window curtain there is so much horrible dust which caused breathing issues with the air con on at night. Even the washroom window curtaimns had horrible dust, and no handshowers which should be mentioned onsite since not everyone is comfortable with other type pf service provided. Me and my friends enjoyed the space very well together and had our fun, if people expect some privacy then this isnt the right place, and for gatherings as well. The host and the caretaker are not happy with gatherings and parties due to the location. Overall i will give just two stars, and the caretaker also should be taught to talk politely to the guest as he is rude some times as well and he repeats the same thing again and again about how to behave and use the space and then we had to mention that all of us are from the hospitality trade and we cleaned the space mostly by ourself after consuming food and using the rooftop as well.

We stayed at shalimar residency for 2 weeks while preparing for my wedding. The house has 3 spaciouse and comfy bedrooms. The house is very clean and well maintained. It is very close to nugegoda and situated very conviniently. The owners are very attentive and friendly. I had initially mixed up my arrival date and arrived much earlier. They were very flexible and easy going allowed me to check in earliar than anticipated. The best thing about our stay apart from the house it self was the lovely care taker deva and his wife rani. Both of them ensured that me and my family were taken care of and offered tireless support in all the wedding preperation. As i initially arrived in sri lanka by my self having them in the house felt very safe. Deva ensured that i was comfortable and well fed. We didnt have to worry about anything during our stay and everyone that visited us absolutely loved deva and ranis hospitality. Hospitatlity was outstanding and deva personafies the kind honesty and intergrity that is now very rare in sri lanka. We will definitly be returning to stay next time. X

This place is awesome. The caretaker Deva helped us a lot and very friendly. Also, the place is very clean and it has all the facilities you need. We didn't request food but we heard Deva is a specialist cook as well 😁. I am definitely recommending this place, if you are planning on hassle free place to spend your day near Nugegoda.

The room was not clean upon arrival. Used items and other leftover stuff from previous guests were still present. There were no towels provided, and the floor was dirty with hair and even some clothing left behind. The fan made loud noises while working, and the AC remote was difficult to operate. The doors did not feel safe or secure. For the price paid, the room was definitely not worth it. Basic amenities like soap and towels, which should be included in a booked room, were missing. The curtains were dirty, torn, and did not close properly, leaving the side window half open and reducing privacy. Overall, a very disappointing experience. The cleanliness, safety, and basic facilities need serious improvement.

Just a short distance from R Premadasa Stadium, this charming property exudes warmth and hospitality. The villa's interior strikes a perfect balance between modern elegance and timeless charm, making it feel like a cozy home away from home.
This boutique villa is simply outstanding. We were not expecting this when we booked, it was truly more than what you see online in pictures. Suhini was amazing—so warm, helpful, and full of great insights about Colombo. The house is stunning, beautifully kept, and feels like a home away from home but with resort facilities and vibes. The family that owns it made us feel incredibly welcome, and the mom’s cooking… i can only say you have to taste it…. Highly, highly recommended for anyone visiting Colombo. You won’t want to miss this gem!

Staying at this villa was an absolute delight! It beautifully balances a modern touch with an old soul, making it both cozy and stylish. The design is gorgeous—every corner is thoughtfully crafted, with furniture arranged in such a timeless way. You can tell a lot of heart went into making this place feel like a home. What made the experience even more special was the warmth of the family. The mom’s cooking was simply the best—each meal was filled with flavor and love, and we couldn't get enough! And Uncle? He took us on the most memorable tuk-tuk ride around town We can't wait to come back!

One of the best places I have stayed here in Colombo. Although its a villa, it felt much more than that when we stepped in. Its very serene and calming even if its in the middle of Colombo. Everyone there made our stay special, going above and beyond to ensure we felt at home. The rooms are beautifully decorated with thoughtful details throughout. Ayurvedic bath amnities, bamboo tothbrushes, etc etc… Was not expecting this level of detail in the villa….Absolutely worth every penny for the comfort and experience!

This was a surreal escape… We booked this villa over the weekend for change of scene and boy we were in for a surprise. We actually did not expect this level of luxury and comfort that was in the villa for the price we paid… It was an absolute bargain!. I can’t recommend it enough for anyone seeking a getaway!

Great villa to spend some time to recharge… We came here after a friend recommended it us after his photoshoot. we stayed 2 nights. Suhini was very flexible with our checkin and checkout times. The kitchen was fully eqipped with everything you need to prep meals. And Cargills foodcity is only a 2 minutes walk. Uncle Rupa is always there to give us a ride in his tuktuk for groceries and restuarants… The villa is very nicely done, and recommended to anyone. We will come back again whenever we need a break

I had to make an urgent trip to Sri Lanka and stumbled upon this beautiful villa for my short stay. Tastefully designed and decorated, this cozy villa is located in the heart of Colombo, offering easy access to malls, stores, hospitals, and restaurants. The villa is equipped with all the essential amenities, featuring gated off street parking, spacious living areas, large bedrooms, (1 with gardens access and the other 3 with balconies) fully equipped kitchen and even a well-maintained courtyard — making it a truly comfortable place to stay. The hosts, Sylvester and his wife, were exceptionally kind, hospitable, and welcoming. They ensured my stay was as comfortable as possible, always just a call away whenever I needed assistance. They also offer convenient vehicle rental options, whether for tours or airport pick-up and drop-off. I highly recommend this villa and look forward to staying here again on my next visit.

I had the most amazing stay at this villa while visiting family in Sri Lanka. The location is absolutely excellent, there’s truly nothing else like it in the area. The villa itself is stunning, with beautifully designed interiors that make the whole place feel luxurious and unique. The rooms were large, very comfortable, and had everything I needed for a perfect stay. Even though the villa is centrally located, it’s tucked away enough to give you peace and quiet, the best of both worlds. The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, always attentive to any needs I had, and the hosts were wonderfully responsive. The daily room service made it feel just like staying in a luxury hotel, which was such a treat. Overall, this villa is a wonderful and luxurious place to stay .I’ll definitely be booking here again on my next trip!

We came across Teal Villa while casually scrolling through Airbnb and fell in love with it just from the photos. When we finally got there, the villa did not disappoint. Mr. Sylvester and his staff were so warm and welcoming and the whole booking process was seamless from start to finish. They gave us a full tour and were happy to help with anything we needed. The villa itself is absolutely beautiful and has such a cozy, homely feel to it.

We discovered Teal Villa online two days before our departure for Sri Lanka and made a last minute decision to change our booking. Sherden made immediate contact and kept in close touch on our very late arrival into Colombo. He was there past midnight to greet us and show us around the property. What a wonderful find this property is. It’s a chance for a group of up to 8 to stay in a charming, beautifully furnished house with creeping bougainvillea, delightful private courtyards, and a lovely wrought iron bannistered-spiral staircase. The house is spacious, bright and clean, and has plenty of seating areas for people to find a quiet corner. Also, there is a billiards table at the top floor. There are air-cons and fans in every room, mosquito nets over the beds and every room has an en-suite bathroom so no need to share. Would come again in a heartbeat. Thank you for the hospitality.

Travelling to Sri Lanka. I worried if i would find a good place to stay... My expectations were surpassed when I stumbled across the Teal Villa. Nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. This quiet haven was Nirvana. I would rate the place higher than 5 stars if I could. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. The check-in process was seamless and stress-free, with clear instructions and a warm welcome. The space itself was spotless, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Sherden went above and beyond to make sure I felt at home, offering great local recommendations and responding quickly to any questions. I especially appreciated the small touches that made the experience feel extra special. The location was perfect: quiet, safe, and within easy reach of restaurants, shops, and attractions. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and all amenities worked flawlessly. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. I highly recommend Teal Villa to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and outstanding hospitality. I would definitely book again! A special thanks to Sherden for everything.

The property was kept very clean in a quiet neighborhood with everything we hoped for including the complementary “Ceylon Cinnamon” that I used to make refreshing Chai tea each morning. My family enjoyed our stay in Colombo mainly because when we returned each night it felt like home sweet home. We will book this property every time we plan our trips to Colombo.

Guests can enjoy comfortable accommodations equipped with air conditioning, along with complimentary WiFi and private parking. The lush garden adds to the tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal retreat for travelers seeking both relaxation and accessibility to local attractions.
Useless place, place is very hazardous specially when you invite friends over as the entrance is covered with Algae, my aunt almost slipped on these Algae. The fuse box blew and was unable to live as no electricity and it took for ever for them to fix it where we had to live sweating with the mosquitoes eating us away. Bathroom taps have no water coming and no heater. AC make lot of noise and very old. House is pretty much joined with another house not even by a gypsum wall but by a painted metal sheet. Jus we booked for 5 nights and vacated the premises after the first night and the guy who manages is extremely rude and cunning. If he says give me time don't buy it. He is buying time to deceive you. We never got our refund back and we raised the dispute with booking.com read the property reviews all are terrible.
