Crescat has been the same and that same vibe all these years is still there's , yes things ares expensive in shops inside but you can walk in , the keells is on the ground floor with the food court. It looks elegant during the Christmas season with decorations, this year as well. I can say that they well maintain the premises , just walk in without any fear it's open for anyone, but with money if you want to get something or you can roam around inside but don't make it obvious so walk into shops, ask about prices , go to food court get something you can afford and that's pretty much it, it's basically a mall generations before one galle face.

This area desperately needed a shopping mall and somewhere calm to have a walk. Independence Arcade is a place no one has ever expected. This shopping mall is one of a kind and serves everyone. I remember we went to the place as broke university students and had a good time and after 8 years going to this place to have a good time with having some money in my pocket. Unique and beautiful.

Arcade Independence Square is one of the nicest places in Colombo to relax and enjoy a mix of modern and historical vibes. The buildings are beautifully restored and have a lot of character, giving the whole area a classy and peaceful atmosphere. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafés around, so you can easily spend a few hours just walking around, trying some food, or doing a bit of shopping. The place is also great for photography — both during the day and at night. The lighting, architecture, and open spaces make it perfect for taking pictures, whether you’re into portraits or just want some scenic shots. It’s clean, well-maintained, and has a nice open area to sit and relax. It’s a lovely spot for hanging out with friends, having a quiet meal, or simply enjoying the surroundings. Arcade Independence Square has really stepped up recently! Now they have amazing street food stalls with so many options to try, plus modernized pubs that are calm and quiet – perfect for relaxing with friends. The live music adds a great vibe without being too loud. One of the coolest new things is that you can even play pickleball there! It costs about 4000 rupees per hour, and it’s totally worth it for the experience. Overall, it’s a great place to hang out, eat, and enjoy a nice evening. Highly recommend visiting if you haven’t been in a while!

As a first time visitor, loved the huge array of products they had. Amazing home decor collections and knick knacks. The team also helped bubble wrap the purchases for our return flight, and they were super quick and efficient.

Thirty years ago I bought masses of table linen from Paradise Road on a diplomatic posting and I still use it to this day. I was delighted to revisit today and not only shopped up a storm but had a lovely lunch in the Café with probably the first decent latte I’ve had since arriving a ten days ago! The coconut/salad spoons are of a better quality here, unique stuffed toys, table linen and Christmas napkins and holders were all on the list. Unique Expresso cups went in and multiple beautiful sarongs as gifts. It has some great quality gifts for taking back overseas . Staff were helpful . Parking out front and a clean bathroom near the Cafe area. Staff beautifully wrapped everything for suitcase travel .

Such an amazing place, I can spend hours together here just admiring the way things are put up and how simple and fascinating design can be . The food at the cafe is also delicious though vegetarian options are limited.

Paradise Road has the best handmade items. They are made with care and look special. I really like their collection!

I think my wife would love to live in this store 🤣🤣. There are really some beautiful items here. I do find some products a bit expensive, but to be fair, we have objects and tableware that are over ten years old and still in good condition. So the quality is definitely there.

The outlet offer good varieties of souvenirs, dining cutlery, handy craft, carving of stone and woods. All these are display within the outlet to its maximum, making it difficult to move around with comfort. Stairway to upper level is narrow Nd step too. Unless one have specific items to look for from this place, there are many other shops that offer better comfort shopping experience.

This was recommended from a friend on recent trip to Sri Lanka. Everything sold here is top notch high quality handmade fabric with loom right on location. Was able to buy tons of handmade crafts to remember trip and treat myself to a silk and cotton handwoven, handmade dress. I wouldn’t call it a bargain, but the quality makes it totally worth it. Added bonus is how gorgeous the store is with all the colorful textiles. Head’s up, no pictures allowed - but it’s a visual paradise!

Wonderful atmosphere with a nice and small gallery. I assume it caters mainly to tourists, but I came twice because it’s a great place to buy gifts that are locally made. It’s also a historic spot, running since 1968 I believe.

It is a great place for Sundays brunch and lunch. Burgers and cream cheese cake were good. Live music on Sunday in the garden was so atmospheric. One minus, it is outdoors a bit hot and not much of fans. Some humidifiers plus fan would be a fantastic option.

Barefoot is the one place in Colombo where you can find authentic Love Cake, this is the real deal. A must try!

Once a hospital built by the Dutch (believed to be the oldest building in the Colombo fort area) it's a gorgeous, old building complex with restaurants, souvenir stores and other shops. The building feels like a time capsule stuck amidst high rises and modern buildings, and is well maintained so that people can enjoy this bit of history even today.

It was conveniently located right beside our hotel, and we loved watching the pigeons at the front entrance — a small but lovely touch that made the place feel alive. Overall, a must-visit spot in Colombo for great food, shopping, and heritage charm, all in one place.

Previously it served as a hospital in for dutch officcers and soldiers. Now this area turned into a visiting place with shopping market, cafes and restaurants. Now this place is a must visit tourist attraction with attractive colonial European architectural designs.

It's a perfect blend of history and modernity. The beautifully maintained heritage building offers a variety of excellent restaurants and shops. The common area in the middle provides a relaxing space, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for shopping, dining, and casual hangouts, attracting families with its good brands and diverse eateries.

Bit over priced, but has a much better selection and of much higher quality than Laksala. Like others have already mentioned, search around for cheaper prices for the same quality items if you have time. Otherwise, if you want a one stop place and doesn't mind paying a bit extra for the convenience I'd highly recommend here.

A good variety of arts and crafts all in one place. Not the cheapest place to go but most convenient as there are lots of options and it’s in town. The only downside is the way employees follow you around the whole time; I understand if one does but literally had 4 people following us around as if we’re criminals. It’s off putting and makes you want to leave faster.

Wide variety of products for relatively high prices how ever the manager is unfriendly. "Look at him walking around with his camera" I was walking with the camera because they insisted that i leave my small camera bag. Would not go there, there are other places with similar products close by.

Frustrating experience. My family usually shops here for souvenirs, and when I visited SL this year, I dropped by. We were asked to leave our hand bags but I politely explained that we had money, passports and other valuable items, and then the security allowed us to carry them inside. When we were browsing, another employee walked up to us and asked to leave the bags outside. When I explained that I already spoke to the security, she insisted we should leave the bags and carry our valuables in hand. Not only this is rude and insensitive but I saw another customer with a hand bag already inside walking around with no issue. Didn't want to argue so immediately walked out and shopped at Laksala just a few hundred metres away.

If someone asks me about my favorite mall in Sri Lanka, it’s still Majestic City. This place still carries that classic 2000s vibe, and I love wandering around alone, just taking it all in. Even the air freshener has a unique smell that adds to the nostalgia. Not sure why I forgot to leave a review before! That being said, try to avoid most outlets in the food court. A lot of the food isn’t great both in taste and quality. Some sellers even show one thing and serve something completely different.

Majestic City (MC) is currently under renovation, so some areas are not fully open. However, the food court is still functioning well. I hope that after the renovation, MC will regain its place among the top shopping malls once again. Looking forward to seeing the new improvements!

Liberty Plaza has always been known as the spot for electronics. Phones, accessories, random cables, anything tech-related, this is probably where you start. And I agree with that, 100 percent. Most of the online sellers get their stuff from here anyway. There are shops you have to be careful about, but there are also plenty that you can actually trust. Now, here’s the issue. Apart from the shops, there’s really nothing going on. The place is not maintained. No proper cleaning, no effort to make it feel welcoming, and there’s always some kind of construction happening. Every single time I go there, something’s being drilled, fixed, painted or half-built. It’s been going on for years and it never looks like it’s getting done. The escalators are a gamble. Sometimes they work, sometimes you’re climbing them like stairs and pretending that’s normal. It’s exhausting. And the place just doesn’t feel safe. Not saying it isn’t safe, but the vibe is very off. The shops themselves are good, but they all look the same. There's no character, no uniqueness, just one glass-fronted tech box after another. It all blends in. So yeah, pretty disappointing overall. The shops are the only thing carrying the whole place, and even they deserve a better space than this. But I guess this is what we’ve got.

Great place to get souvenirs for friends and family. The store is large and they have many beautiful things for you or your loved ones. Some items include clothing, hand carved items, precious stones, jewelry, ayurvedic oils, artwork, collectibles and much more. I visited this store in 2023 when I first came to Sri Lanka and again during my current trip to pick up gifts not only for myself but for friends and family back home.

We were told that Laksala was a government owned shopping center, which has vast varities, right from handicarft, crockery, ayurvedic medicines, apparels, etc. However, it was expensive as compared to other shops. In fact the prices in the souvenier shop at Lotus tower is lower. Pls chose other local shops for your shopping ti get better deal.

Laksala is perhaps the most popular souvenir shop in the country, the place to go to if you are looking for gifting something typically Sri Lankan. What's more, you can be sure about the authenticity of the products they sell. From handicraft to batik, leather goods and brassware, tea or spices you have a wide range to choose from. Prices are mid range and the quality of the merchandise is very good. No spurious stuff for sure. Service is excellent as staff are friendly, courteous and very helpful.

1. This place is the only stand alone store that charges for parking. I can understand a multi outlet store or mall charging for parking but a stand alone store? 2 To make matters worse everything is exorbitantly priced. Just not worth the price. 3. Maybe this is the effect of the company going broke, however these policies will only make it worse. BEST AVOIDED.

I have been there several times. It is good but small. I like the small stalls just in front of the office. The Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop is also there, in front of the stalls. There is parking available, but we need to pay for it. Sometimes, there are discounts on shoes and dresses at ODEL, and visiting in February and March offers good deals. The parking charges seem unfair, but since the area is a bit congested, charging for parking helps prevent misuse.

What happened to the Odel that we know? It felt like only the name has remained and nothing else is the same. Nothing to shop and I found it hard to use up the vouchers I had. The place is clean, staff faces unhappy, the women's clothing was not interesting at all, households section had the last bit of towels... Delifrance was the only ok experience for me. Also, the kind and curteous cashier at Odel.

One Galle Face Mall is truly amazing — probably the best place in Sri Lanka for branded shopping. We explored all the floors and found a great mix of local and international stores, all conveniently under one roof. The food court was excellent, with plenty of choices and affordable prices. There’s also a supermarket on the ground floor, where we picked up some essentials before heading back home to Bangladesh. The watch stores had a decent collection, especially Wrist Lab, though prices are on the higher side due to import taxes. We also found a great deal on a branded perfume at Odel, thanks to an ongoing sale. Our 10-year-old had a great time at the gaming zone, which made the visit fun for the whole family. Overall, One Galle Face Mall is modern, well-organized, and family-friendly — a must-visit spot in Colombo for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Having explored most markets in Colombo, I must say, if you're expecting to spend an hour immersing yourself in vibrant stalls and unique finds like even the smallest market in Spain, you’ll be sorely disappointed. These markets barely took us 10 minutes to walk through—some even less than that. At the "Good Market" near the racecourse, a glaring sign read: "Bankrupt financially and bankrupt morally." It wasn’t just the sign that left a bad impression; people had recommended these markets, so I had hoped for something more substantial, perhaps a lively atmosphere with street food and a variety of stalls. Instead, every stall seemed geared solely towards tourists, lacking authenticity. What really soured the experience was the blatant overcharging. A curd vendor had labels clearly stating Rs. 700, yet when my wife—fluent in Sinhala—asked, the price magically became $20. This left both of us with a bitter taste, literally and figuratively. Are these markets worth your time? In my opinion, absolutely not. And while my feedback may fall on deaf ears, to the organisers, I’d suggest rethinking the concept entirely. Turn it into a proper experience—a place worth visiting. If you lack the know-how, perhaps consult someone who understands how to run a vibrant market. Where’s the variety? Years ago, I knew someone who sold rabbits and chicks at the Good Market, but now there’s not a single animal in sight. The whole affair feels poorly run and lackluster. On a positive note, Google Maps did its job, guiding us to the right buses. Although it took us slightly further than necessary, requiring a longer walk, it wasn’t a big issue compared to the market experience itself. In summary: underwhelming, overpriced, and not worth the effort.

There’s a one big shop which is open everyday in the good market. The others are stalls in walking distance. It’s a good place you can have a snack or a full meal and spend half of the day. You can mostly find homemade stuff. I bought few but they aren’t the best products I found. We went looking for Kimchi. Didn’t find it. There’s an information center too. If you’re looking for a specific thing you might get the correct details. Expensive.

Operates on Saturdays and a good place for a refreshing outing. There are shops with organic fruits and vegitables, handcrafts, paintings and a varity of such goodies. A good place to take foreigners for shopping. Food outlets too are pretty good and affordable.

The little good market shop had the most incredible selection of locally sourced ethical goods, from spices to tea to gifts and soap. This is the best place ever to get little ethical gifts if you are visiting from another country.

It was a great shopping experience there with plenty of stuff, even the seasons off I could find all seasons cloths. This place I saw there winter clothes too. Not only clothes, every house hold equipment as well as camping gears spread in six stories huge mall may be a one of the biggest mall in Colombo with enough free parking. In the basement there is a food court but not enough selections but can relax there. Staff not try to assist you but if need assistance the promptly help. I like it. Place with in the busy city but when you goes inside the premises you can spend there many hours without busy. I can recommend this place to do convenience shopping for house hold items in one place with reasonable and affordable price with good quality.

Disappointed with Damaged Item and Exchange Experience On 15/06/2025, I purchased a trouser from this place and later noticed a few damages, unfortunately only after removing the label. On 22/06/2025, I returned to the exchange counter and showed them the photos of the damage. They asked me to bring the item back. However, when I did so, the elderly gentleman at the counter told me they couldn’t accept it. I’m really disappointed to have bought a damaged item from such a reputed place. I’ve always loved the beautiful clothes sold here at affordable prices, but this experience was very discouraging.

Not Recommended at All 🤮🤮🤮 I visited House of Fashion recently, and the experience at their men’s section was terrible. The staff there were extremely rude, unhelpful, and treated us with no respect. Even the staff manager was unprofessional and did not handle the situation properly. Instead of assisting customers, they behaved in a harsh and unfriendly manner. This is completely unacceptable for a store of this reputation. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant shopping experience.

Unfortunately not worth a visit. There are only a handful of restaurants open and that’s it. No floating-market at all… really a bummer, could be or maybe used to be nice! But at least you can get a good view of the Lotus Tower from here.

Floating market is all hype. There is nothing necessary you have to buy or will catch your interest. I don't know why everyone suggests it. But trust me its nothing like a local market. But the place itself is quite beautiful. You can see in the pictures. There is a small lake with green water. And beautifully organized shops inside the market. Its a good place to hangout or goofing around with friends.

Visited this shop yesterday, and it was a great experience. Absolutely beautiful clothing, pleasant shop environment, and friendly and welcoming employees. I ended up selecting some flowy silky dresses and shawls (which were a little bit pricey but truly excellent quality, so a good value). I need to come back soon when I have more time so I can look at their jewelry and bags—they have a good selection of really interesting designs). I also didn’t have a chance to shop in the household goods section, because I had very little time, but it also looked to have some really cool merchandise. I’ll be back soon for sure!

I went to collect my all natural deodorant. A product from Nue Body Basic. The Design Collective also have other local natural products like soup, shampoo, body creams and scrubs. Visited the Ceylon Tea Supermarket in Colombo today have to say it was excellent. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about their products and we had a tea tasting session where we learned more about tea! We shall definitely return.

Wide variety of tea options for selection. The sales lady- Safna clearly explains the different origins and qualities of all the options, especially Halpe Tea so that I can easily find the right tea options as gift and for personal use. The other sales team- Poornima, Nirmani and Keil are also very friendly and share with me the culture of Sri Lanka. Highly recommended for tea lovers, especially when you want to learn more about the tea you're going to drink.

During my vacation in Sri Lanka, I was looking to buy a certain elegant European style tea mugs to refill my tea mug collection back home but was unable to find a set of 8 anywhere. I tried several Noritake stores in Colombo before I found Exotic Noritake, on the last day of our trip. The owner went above and beyond for us, contacting the warehouse and nearby stores (30 min-5min distance ) and paying the same day delivery fee himself so we could have the style we wanted before we left the store/ country. Highly recommend and this will be our go to store for Noritake purchases in the future. They took great care in packaging them as a check-in box for our flight.

I have been meaning to leave a review for a while, to thank CJS, Mr Hyzam Rauf and Staff for such a fantastic jewellery store. What makes them stand out is not just their beautiful pieces, but also their extraordinary customer service, the best I have seen anywhere. When my mum lost an earring ( one of a pair) the famous jewellery store we bought it from simply shrugged their shoulders and did not want to recreate another one for us. But CJS did and my mum was so happy. The pieces they sell are absolutely gorgeous and one of a kind. I have shopped all over the world and their craftsmanship is next to none. And you definitely get what you pay for. What’s even better is they are generous towards their customers in every way which something I rarely see. I rate this even higher than all the precious gems.

I had someone buy me a few products from Spa Ceylon recently as I wanted to support a local SL brand. And Spa Ceylon came highly recommended. However, I am quite disappointed that the brand is labelled as luxury because the products are far from it! I bought 3 of the tube lip balms. And they are so grainy and rough! Its more of a lip scrub than a lip balm. Please do not purchase! I got the mango, citrus & grapefruit flavors FYI. Its unfortunate because they are pricey for 8g of product and I have no way of returning them as I live abroad. Please be warned.

This is not a Government department but a business place that depends on Customers. They need good customer service first not Posh atmosphere.

I am very disappointed with Spa Ceylon. I ordered a scheduled birthday gift and it was not delivered on time, completely ruining the purpose of the order. I then asked for a cancellation and refund. Since then, Spa Ceylon has given me multiple false promises with refund dates, but the money has still not been returned. Recently, they even sent me a so-called “refund proof,” but when I checked directly with their payment gateway, I was informed that Spa Ceylon has not initiated any refund at all. This shows a complete lack of honesty and professionalism. The customer service is not answering my calls and not responding to my emails. Please stop misleading customers and process my refund immediately. Others should be aware of this experience before trusting Spa Ceylon with their orders.

This place holds a lot of political significance and till today whatever political victories happen, the signing of documents are done here in memory of the independence Square. There's a museum too which is on one side of the structure. It is packed with history. One must definitely check it out in Colombo.

Really nice place to get a glimpse of local life and see how people in the city go about their day. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk or some light exercise — super calm and relaxing all around. You can really feel the history of the place too, which makes it even more special. Definitely recommend coming around sunset, the view and atmosphere are just amazing!

It’s a really quiet place to sit and relax. They won’t allow to take pictures of the statues and stuffs, but you can take pictures of you inside the hall. And when I sit and relax for a while then tried to read a book, they said something in Sinhala like I shouldn’t read there or anything, I was confused and had to leave. Anyway the place was amazing.

The independence memorial hall built to commemorate the country's independence from British control on 4 Feb 1948. The design is influenced by the ancient architecture of the Kandyan era. Not being properly maintained. Lighting at night is not up to the standards of similar national monuments. Apparently there's no freedom or liberty to the visitors as per the numerous notices displayed throughout the premises (which destroys the beauty and historical value of the place). No close by toilets, cafes or souvenir shops. This place needs to be maintained well, nicely lit up and opened 24 hours without manned by security (CCTV would do). Being a tourism oriented country, the authorities need to consider taking a more liberal and progressive approach in managing these places of national significance and are tourist attractions.

This is the main park in Colombo. Security is high, but we can freely walk around, and parking is free, though limited. On a sunny day, staying under the shade is a great comfort. On holidays, people come for picnics, but the park seems to be more popular among Muslims than other ethnic groups. A bike rental facility is also available. they have horse ride,.horse carriage riding which was around 200 per person. And they also had paddle boats for 100/=per person. It was a fun experience. Perfect place for walking or jogging. Amazing atmosphere. They also a small place with gym equipment for anyone who wants to come and work out

It's a big, green, peaceful space right in the city's heart - perfect for a chill walk or just relaxing under the trees. The park is clean and well-maintained, with many shady spots, walking paths, and benches. There's a cool golden Buddha statue at one end and the Town Hall building right across the road, so it's a nice little area to explore. Families, joggers, and some street vendors were around, but it wasn't crowded. You might catch some local events or kids playing cricket if you're lucky.

A small lane that has 4-5 restaurants in it, the place is lit up by lanterns and fairy lights. Each restaurant focuses on one cuisine- Pan Asian, Italian, Middle-eastern, French and Japanese. The place gets very vibrant on weekends. The food is tasty and priced about right.

Went to park street mews on a weekday for lunch. The place has a warm ambiance with a high roof that makes it feel spacious. The staff are friendly and kind. There were a few guests. The place has both indoor and outdoor dining facilities. There's a soothing background score running. The menu has breakfasts running till 2pm. It also has starters, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and mains. The desserts are limited to a few, but good. The smoked chicken burger with salad was really good. Would recommend trying it once. The avocado milkshake was good. The sausage based starter was yum.

They do give free bed and butter with olive oil, good stuff. Clean and tidy bathrooms. Must try the spicy cheese toast, high recommended. Beverages are average and i hv had better. This is one of the famous restaurant in town and contain alcohol. this place is ok and nice views are too there Visited this restaurant with family. We were 7 of us and were extremely satisfied with the service. They have nice comfortable sofas and we had our own dining section which was spaced out. Adds a nice dimension to the Colombo night life. This place has a fair number of eating places. Food was delicious. I highly recommend to try their hand made ice creams specially burnt caramel and chilly mango. Overall an amazing experience!

I had the chance to visit T Lounge in Colombo and it was a truly unique experience. The variety of teas they offer is astonishing and each one feels carefully crafted. The tea experience itself was superb and the ambiance of the place makes it even more enjoyable. The service was a little slow start but picked up later . The food was also very good and paired well with the tea. The place itself is an experience and I’m glad I found this place . Plenty of variety to try their tea and I’d surely come back Overall, T Lounge is a wonderful spot to enjoy a relaxed tea experience. The atmosphere is warm, the tea selection is excellent, and the food is worth trying. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Colombo.

Dropped by t-Lounge by Dilmah and had their katsu chicken burger and Kandy Lamissi Iced tea – absolutely delicious! The portions was generous and definitely worth the price. The menu has a great spread with plenty of interesting options. Looking forward to my next visit!

Recently hosted a surprise high tea for my wife's birthday here. The staff were very helpful (Chamara) and flexible for a lot of my requests. The event went of very well and it was an overall very pleasant experience. Definitely will come back here again.

These iced teas were incredible. Honestly, they beat every tea or lemonade I’ve ever had in Europe. Perfectly balanced, super refreshing and full of flavor. If you’re even remotely into tea, don’t skip this place.

I have never had the same experience at any other restaurant as I did at the Station Restaurant. The service they provided was so poor. I was very disappointed.😑😑 The seafood they served us was so dry that it was inedible🦀. The french fries they gave us were so burnt that they were inedible. 🍟 When we asked the reason, they said it was the nature of this food.🙄🤷 Likewise, the chicken bite they gave us could not be used as a snack at all. It was better eaten with something like rice or bread. They charged us over 23,000 rupees for such poor food and service. However, after we argued with them, they reduced the bill to 15,000 rupees. Visited here with my friends for a birthday treat. The time we visited here almost dark and sea view is pitch back so couldn't enjoy the sunset. There is a train train track to cross to reach the restaurant. So better pay attention on the passing trains. Usually there will be a security officer who guide us when we coming to the resturant to cross the track. Food is tasty and prices are bit high. Yes there is a waiting time after placing the order. Staffs are helpful and kind. Street parking is there but it seems bit unsecured. Most of the time there is security guard still i feel leaving our vehicle unattended on main road is not safe.

I am very disappointed in your restaurant. It took hours to complete my order because your menu is not updated. You sent water-based potions in a paper box that leaked almost everything. Don’t you have the common sense to include a lunch sheet in your packaging? Additionally, I only received 10 pieces of cuttlefish for the large portion, which feels very cheap. If you want to be this cheap, perhaps you should reconsider being in business. Overall, I am really disappointed. Do not ever buy from this place

We wanted to try a new restaurant and came here for a change. Very disappointed about the service. Can’t communicate properly. Made us ask 3 times to finally get our drinks. Once drinks arrived, the glass was broken. We asked for a new drink, since we didn’t know whether the glass piece was inside the drink. They pored the old drink in a new glass. Came with wrong food and tried to convince us that we ordered that food. Positive note: Nasi goreng was alright taste wise. We won’t come back here any time soon. Was not worth the 1900LKR service charge.

Avoid This Restaurant – A Complete Waste of Money Our visit to this restaurant was an extremely disappointing experience. I went with my family for dinner and we ordered the mixed grill, mixed seafood, and grilled chicken. Unfortunately, none of the dishes were worth the high prices they charged. The portion sizes were shockingly small. The grilled chicken looked more like a kids’ meal, yet we were charged full price. The mixed grill and seafood were even worse – the meat was burnt, and all we got were small, overcooked pieces served with basic French fries. I couldn’t believe they charged more than 13000 LKR for such poorly prepared food. The mixed seafood dish was bland and lacked even basic seasoning like salt. It was completely tasteless. When we raised our concerns with the staff, they didn’t take them seriously and showed no intention of making things right. It felt like they were used to receiving complaints and just didn’t care. To make matters worse, the washrooms were filthy and poorly maintained, with broken doors – absolutely unacceptable for any restaurant. Despite showing them the burnt food and expressing our dissatisfaction, we were still charged the full amount. There was no apology or effort to resolve the issue. I honestly don’t know how this place is still in business given the poor quality of food, lack of hygiene, and terrible customer service. Please do not waste your time or your hard-earned money here. Extremely disappointed – I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointed with the Staff at Odel Alexandra Place Our experience at Odel Alexandra Place has been terrible once again. The staff are extremely rude and unfriendly, making us feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. Instead of assisting customers properly, they follow us around as if we are shoplifting, which is completely unprofessional. This is the third time we’ve had to deal with this, and it’s frustrating. What’s even more disappointing is that the smaller outlets have much friendlier and more professional staff. If they can provide good service, why can’t this location? We expect a much better shopping experience from a store of this standard. Hope management takes this issue seriously and improves staff behavior.

I visited Havelock City Mall in Colombo during my trip to Sri Lanka, mainly because I wanted to try Popeyes, and we also thought of doing a bit of shopping. The mall was huge!! It is spread across four floors.. and had so many stores on each level. Some of the brands I remember seeing were Jockey, Adidas, Odel, Cool Planet, Miniso, and even Kate Spade. The entire fourth floor was dedicated to food and restaurants, which I loved. They had all the big names like Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Popeyes, along with a few other local restaurants that looked really good. A special mention to their washrooms — they were so, so clean, which honestly made such a difference while shopping for hours. The mall also has ample parking space, and it’s really easy for cabs to locate the mall and drop you off or pick you up right at the entrance, which makes the visit super convenient. The vibes of the mall were absolutely amazing — clean, spacious, and lively. Coincidentally, the day we visited happened to be the mall’s second anniversary, and there was a lovely performance happening in the center atrium on the ground floor, which made the visit feel even more special. Really enjoyed spending time here as a tourist. Thank you, Sri Lanka, for such a beautiful experience! 🇱🇰

I visited on a tuesday evening to watch a movie. The entrance area is huge and staffed very well to avoid vehicle build up. There is a security scan check at the entrance, but they don't seem to worry about the security much. The cinema and food court is at the 4th level. most of the major fast food chains are available. The cinema is good as well. Overall the atmosphere is great inside.

A beautiful mall with a luxury feel. Parking is convenient and the interior design is impressive. Modern, clean, and full of great shops! The food court has a nice variety too. Easily one of the best malls in Colombo. Excellent shopping experience.

I visited the mall and its food court recently. I can highly recommend this place for families to spend leisure time with their children. There are dedicated play areas for kids, and even the food court includes a play zone. However, unlike in some other food courts, this play area is not free, you have to pay LKR 500 for one hour, and after that, they ask you to exit.. If your child wants play more you have to pay another LKR 500. The food court offers a good variety of options, and the shopping experience at the mall itself is excellent, with plenty of stores to explore.

Pet Marc is definitely worth a visit and has a ton of different type of vendors and street food that you can buy. It’s less busy and chaotic than markets in India, but has similar prices. Definitely worth a trip.

Crowded but a good place to buy stuff especially whole sale. They have a variety of products from shoes to toys to electronics. There is a lot of walking involved so make sure you wear comfortable shoes and also bargain!!

Not a really big market but rather many whole sale shops around it.

Petah market is definitely worth a visit, but I felt a little unsafe walking around in the afternoon as a female solo traveller.

This supermarket consistently delivers a great shopping experience. The store is clean, well-organized, and fully stocked with a wide variety of fresh produce, groceries, and household essentials. The staff are friendly, helpful, and efficient at checkout. Prices are reasonable, and there are often good deals and promotions. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality products and excellent service!

Good Place to buy a variety of items. A typical supermarket but with a jewellery store, electronic store, furniture store, rubber items, food court etc. They also have toilets which are OK - clean but very shabby. Parking is available in abundance.

Little constructive criticism. Newly introduced Fried Chicken bucket project is quite good. But every time we bought, they are not fully fried or not fully done. Inside near the bones are rare or bit row. Chicken should reach inside temperature min. 165°F to take them out from the fryer. Pl take into account this matter. Offering 2 kinds of sauces with fried chicken is quite good.

Huge Hypermarket. Goods sold at reasonable prices. Huge selection of goods. It actually takes you time to go thru the entire range of products across several aisles. Staff do not seem to know much re ... the products at the store. No sheltered pick up / drop off point in case of heavy rain. Today we had to walk in the rain to our transport that was atleast 100 feet away. The staff at the pharmacy do not seem knowledgeable.

We were at the cafe a while ago. The staff is rude Doesn’t give a bill. When requested they got angry. Holding the cups with their fingers inside When requested to heat the buns the staff got angry. The staff who handlers and was rude to us were Divya.

The cafe inside is a good place to kill time. I came to Arpico Crust Cafe as I was waiting for my friend. Bought myself a chicken hotdog and an iced coffee. The bun of the hotdog is too dry and tasteless. Hotdog itself is quite bland. And the sauce. Arpico sauce. Like the sound of it even not very appealing. Arpico goes for me with rubber floor mats better than tomato sauce. Anyway it’s not all bad, the store has usual supermarket stuff. So overall it’s a good place to kill time which also air conditioned.

Today is 21st August 2025, time is around 10:15 The Tamil girl having a dot on her forehead (cashier) working at food court is really awesome. She is providing a good customer service. Happy face. Nice smile... Keep it up young lady.. ❤️💐

Yesterday i visited Fashion Bug, Colombo 03 and had a somewhat mixed experience. Initially, I was disappointed when Mr. Anuhas informed me that my size and preferred color were unavailable and did not offer further assistance, which felt a bit dismissive. However, my experience took a turn for the better, thanks to Mr. Manazir. Noticing my disappointment, Mr. Manazir approached me and offered to help. He went above and beyond to locate my size and the exact color I was looking for. His dedication, patience, and willingness to assist truly stood out and turned my shopping experience into a positive one. A big thank you to Mr. Manazir for his exceptional service! Staff aren’t trained for proper queue manners. A sales assistant jumped with a customer with a loaded bag (not sure whether known one or not) and made the cashier to serve him who was far behind the in the queue. Waited customers were ignored. Pathetic experience for a crowded seasons. Management must have some polite manners. If not this shop will also fall like other chains in Colombo soon.

The Cargills Food Court at Colombo City Centre offers a wide variety of delicious food at affordable prices. The fried rice is a bit oily but still very tasty. It's one of the best places for dining in, with a clean and pleasant atmosphere. You can enjoy a range of dishes including pasta, noodles, fried rice, and a selection of beverages.

Cargills Food Hall has potential, but in reality, it looks much better in photos than it feels in person. You can find a fair amount of groceries here—enough for basics and a few specialty items—but the space has definitely seen better days. It’s on the smaller side and could really shine with a bit of upkeep and better organization. Right now, it feels a little tired. That said, it's still a convenient stop if you're already in the mall and need to grab a few things quickly. Overall, it gets the job done, but don’t expect anything fancy.

The Cargills outlet here is clean and spacious. They have their usual array of groceries with a major change on ambience and also a fresh food restaurant that makes a various number of dishes. Vegetables are fresh and they also have a small cute collection of plants

This is the only Cargills outlet I’ve seen that’s maintained in this quality. I wonder why the management cannot maintain other outlets similar to this. Easy access from the car park. Well arranged and spacious. You can find pretty much all the groceries you need. Quality of the vegetables is good too compared to other outlets. Friendly and helpful staff. Got a pharmacy and a small scale food outlet too, where you can dine-in or takeaway.

This well-stocked mass market isn't a typical food City that we gotta see...The food hall at the lower ground of CCC looks extra chic with many eateries , Juice / Sushi bars and other usual products... They've also intoduced a 'flower section' which I haven't noticed in any other Cmb supermarkets...The range of products are simply awesome... Thumbs up !! It was really a great and a trendy shopping experience

I had a terrible experience at the Colombo City Center Cargills food court. The staff were the worst I've encountered. They seemed completely uninterested in serving customers, more focused on their own conversations than taking orders. When I tried to get their attention, they ignored me and continued chatting. It was clear they favored their friends, giving them priority over regular customers. To make matters worse, I saw one of the male staff members eating while preparing food. This is not only unprofessional but also unhygienic. Despite the fact that the food court was nearly empty with only one other customer, it took an unreasonable amount of time to get my order. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I won't be returning.

Situated in the basement of Colombo City Centre, this place combined features of a supermarket and a food court. This is the best Cargill's supermarket I seen in Colombo that maintained properly and very clean. There is a sushi bar, fresh fruit juice stall and a bakery if you are after quick bite. Cargill's management should implement this concept to their other stores as well.

They’ve got many unique handcrafted goods that resemble the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka. 🇱🇰 The prices are a bit too high though. Introducing KOKO or Mintpay as installment payment options will definitely help.

Lovely well laid out shop…. one gets a dreamy earthy feeling when browsing at leisure without anyone breathing down your neck … have always loved this shop since its inception … wish nothing but the best for all the work they do uplifting the rural community of Sri Lanka … what untapped talent there is out there and to bring it to a shopping experience ☺️… all visitors to the island this is a ‘must visit’ place … stuff you don’t see anywhere else …

Urban Island offer a wide range of above average market quality products; handicraft, souvenir, gifts, clothings, tea, rug, tableware, fashion wear and even furniture. Products are tastefully done and not commonly available in departmental store. If you are looking for something unique, this is the right place to go to. Pricing is above average but not out of reach. Few parking spaces in front of the shop for the convenient of visitor.

They have a great selection of clothes, accessories, home decor, organic products and so many other stuff. The atmosphere is very nice. You feel welcome to just spend time there browsing through. Prices are also quite reasonable given the quality. There's a small cafe outside that I haven't tried yet.

Urban Island is a beautiful curation of Sri Lankan traditional crafts in a contemporary environment. Products are designed by the Urban Island team and produced in collaboration with crafts experts in regional villages. Sari fabrics and rugs are created by hand looms in husband wife teams. Fantastic swimwear, homeware and traditional and Sri Lanka inspired fashion.

My mother and I visited the Zam Gems store in Cinnamon Grand, where we were staying. We ended up buying three beautiful pendants in different stones - two were ready-made, and one was made for us. The selection of gems available is varied and stunning. We were assisted by Sadhook and his colleagues, who were extremely helpful. As well as being knowledgeable about the stones, they were very honest and reasonable with us, e.g. we suggested setting a lemon quartz stone in gold, which they advised against because it is a cheaper stone that doesn't justify the expense of a gold setting. We really appreciated their sincerity and professionalism, and felt that we could trust them. They were very accommodating to us and we never felt under pressure to make a purchase despite them spending time showing us various options. The pendant that we got made was done within 72hrs (the order was placed on Friday evening, we received the pendant around Monday lunchtime). They also accommodated a small change to our choice of metal during that time. It was made to an extremely high standard that surpassed our expectations, and we were very pleased. I would definitely recommend Zam Gems, and Sadhook and his colleagues.

We had dinner at Ministry of Crab last night as a couple with our 10-year-old, and it was a fantastic experience overall! The atmosphere was vibrant yet cozy — perfect for a family evening out. We tried the clay pot prawn curry with rice, and it was absolutely delicious. The prawns were fresh and perfectly cooked, but the real star was the rich, coconut-based gravy — bursting with flavor! We also had passion fruit juice, which was refreshing, though a bit on the sour side for our taste. Overall, a memorable dining experience with great food, friendly service, and a lovely ambiance. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Colombo Fort! 🍤🥥🇱🇰

This amazing restaurant lived up to all the hype. From when you arrive you are treated with a first class experience. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, and know the menu off by heart. The food is sensational. The prawns and crabs are delicious. My tip, don’t go for the heavily spiced or strongly flavoured sauces, and let the crab do the talking! Sitting in a 400 yo building, surrounded by history and eating top quality food is well worth the pricing! Enjoy!

We had high expectations for our visit to Ministry of Crab given its strong reputation and premium pricing. While the service was attentive and courteous, and the atmosphere warm and inviting, the overall dining experience fell short of what we had hoped for. The evening began well, with friendly staff ensuring we were comfortable and well looked after. The crab avocado salad, however, was unexpectedly bitter, which took away from what could have been a refreshing start. The crab pâté was smooth and nicely seasoned, and the prawn curry offered a pleasant blend of spice and creaminess. However, the bread served alongside the prawn curry was a let-down, lacking freshness and texture, which made the dish feel incomplete. Unfortunately, the main highlight of the menu - the crab - proved to be the biggest disappointment. It was heavily peppered to the point where the natural sweetness of the crab was completely overpowered. Given the restaurant’s signature focus on this dish, it was disheartening that it didn’t live up to expectations. To finish, the coconut crumble was the clear highlight of the meal. Light, fragrant, and beautifully balanced, it was a delightful ending to an otherwise uneven dining experience. Overall, while the setting and service were of a high standard, the food did not quite justify the price. We left wishing the flavours had been more balanced and that the signature crab had showcased the quality and finesse that Ministry of Crab is known for.

We had such a wonderful dining experience at the Ministry of Crab! Before going, we were a little bit skeptical and worried it might just be another tourist trap, but we were pleasantly surprised. The service was outstanding—attentive to every details, anticipating our needs before we even asked, and offering helpful guidance on how to order. We tried only two dishes, the claypot curry and the chili garlic crab, but they were absolutely addictive. The sauces were so good that we couldn’t resist overindulging, especially with all the bread. In short, we really enjoyed our dinner and definitely worth a try when you are in town!

What a great dining experience at the Ministry of Crab. On arrival service and welcome by Dilanka was warm and welcoming. He explained the menu and guided us through our choices and sizes. The prompt ongoing service for drinks and wipes and extra touches to make our meal memorable were attended to. The entrees of prawns, clams, oysters were each amazing in presentation and flavour. We had three varieties of crab for our main as a group and each were different and delicious. The fleshy crabs were the best I have ever eaten and the body of flavour in the sauces were rich and delicious. The Sri Lankan bread and rice helped us enjoy the sauces and flavours. It was a beautiful meal experience. We rounded off with perfect macchiato coffees. If your budget can stretch this far, I highly recommend a meal here. Just remember to book as our lunch sitting was fully booked out.
