Shopping mall
Food court
Crescat Boulevard is a well-established shopping center located in the Colpetty area of Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is one of the oldest malls in the city and offers a down-to-earth shopping experience with a variety of stores and services. The mall features three floors of luxury shopping and entertainment outlets, making it a popular destination for locals to do their seasonal shopping or enjoy leisure time with friends and family.
Crescat Boulevard is a great spot for shopping, dining, and a relaxed stroll. The variety of stores and restaurants makes it easy to spend a few hours exploring. The ambience is clean, well-maintained, and welcoming, and the washrooms are nicely kept always a plus! The staff at the outlets were friendly and helpful. A nice mix of local and international brands makes it ideal for both casual visits and serious shopping trips. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Colombo!
Gavin C — Google review
Crescat has been the same and that same vibe all these years is still there's , yes things ares expensive in shops inside but you can walk in , the keells is on the ground floor with the food court. It looks elegant during the Christmas season with decorations, this year as well. I can say that they well maintain the premises , just walk in without any fear it's open for anyone, but with money if you want to get something or you can roam around inside but don't make it obvious so walk into shops, ask about prices , go to food court get something you can afford and that's pretty much it, it's basically a mall generations before one galle face.
Sam — Google review
Nice spot for shopping and hanging out. Lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants all in one place. Clean and well-maintained, with decent parking. Can get busy on weekends, but overall a good place to spend a few hours.
Sameera W — Google review
Crescat Boulevard is one of Colombo’s most convenient and vibrant shopping destinations. Located in the heart of the city, it offers a well-curated mix of retail outlets, supermarkets, and dining options, making it a great stop whether you’re shopping for fashion, groceries, or simply enjoying a meal. The mall is clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate, with a comfortable atmosphere that appeals to both locals and visitors. The food court is a highlight, featuring a wide variety of cuisines at reasonable prices, and the connected supermarket adds extra convenience for everyday needs. Parking is generally good for a city-center location, and security is well-managed. While the mall isn’t as large or modern as some of the newer complexes in Colombo, its central location, friendly service, and diverse shopping choices make it a reliable and enjoyable spot for quick errands or a relaxed outing
Dhammike R — Google review
Crescat Boulevard is always a wonderful place for all your shopping and wellbeing needs. I especially love the experience with the cozy coffee shops and relaxing nail spas located there. It’s such a pleasant and convenient spot to spend time. I also believe it’s a great and comfortable place to live. My foreign friends who reside there have shared how much they enjoy the lifestyle and convenience it offers. Highly recommended for anyone visiting or looking for a well-balanced living experience in Colombo!

Arcade Independence Square is a vibrant shopping destination nestled within a beautifully restored colonial building that once served as the Auditor-General's office. This trendy mall not only showcases an array of boutiques featuring Sri Lanka's top local brands but also hosts international fashion outlets like Levi’s and Nike. Food enthusiasts will delight in the culinary offerings from celebrity chef Dharshan Munidasa, whose innovative menu includes everything from spicy grilled prawns to unique dishes like black curry made with young jackfruit.
So, I recently visited Arcade Independence Square in Colombo, and honestly, it’s a really nice place! The first thing you notice is the architecture — it’s this beautiful old colonial-style building that’s been renovated, and it looks amazing, especially in the evening with the lights on. It’s not your typical busy mall either. The vibe is very calm and peaceful, more like a classy hangout spot. There are some nice shops inside — not a huge variety, but a good mix of local brands and a few international ones. And the food options are decent too; you’ll find places for a quick snack or even a proper meal. What I really liked was the outdoor area — it’s super chill, with fountains, benches, and well-maintained gardens. Great for photos or just relaxing with friends or family. Overall, I’d say it’s a perfect place if you want a quiet, classy spot to shop, eat, or just unwind.
Roneth W — Google review
This area desperately needed a shopping mall and somewhere calm to have a walk. Independence Arcade is a place no one has ever expected. This shopping mall is one of a kind and serves everyone. I remember we went to the place as broke university students and had a good time and after 8 years going to this place to have a good time with having some money in my pocket. Unique and beautiful.

I recently visited Arcade - Independence Square in Colombo and had quite a pleasant experience. The restored colonial architecture is absolutely stunning — elegant façades, open courtyards, and greenery all around make it a delightful place to wander and take photos. Inside, you’ll find a nice mix of boutiques (both local and some international brands), cafes, and restaurants. The dining options are varied, from casual snacks to more refined meals. I particularly appreciated the calm, relaxed atmosphere — it’s not overly crowded or hectic like many big malls. Overall, Arcade - Independence Square is a must-visit in Colombo if you enjoy architecture, peaceful shopping, and a more upscale vibe.
Yulius S — Google review
A beautifully restored colonial building with a peaceful atmosphere. Great place for shopping, dining, and relaxing. Clean, elegant, and perfect for taking photos. Highly recommend visiting if you're in Colombo!
Shamal A — Google review
Arcade Independence Square is one of the nicest places in Colombo to relax and enjoy a mix of modern and historical vibes. The buildings are beautifully restored and have a lot of character, giving the whole area a classy and peaceful atmosphere. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafés around, so you can easily spend a few hours just walking around, trying some food, or doing a bit of shopping. The place is also great for photography — both during the day and at night. The lighting, architecture, and open spaces make it perfect for taking pictures, whether you’re into portraits or just want some scenic shots. It’s clean, well-maintained, and has a nice open area to sit and relax. It’s a lovely spot for hanging out with friends, having a quiet meal, or simply enjoying the surroundings. Definitely one of those places that make you appreciate how beautiful Colombo can be.
Nishuda N — Google review
I like the architecture and atmosphere there.Nice restaurants, good photo spots, and plenty of space to walk around. And also it's clean and quiet.
Bihandu Y — Google review
Arcade Independence Square has really stepped up recently! Now they have amazing street food stalls with so many options to try, plus modernized pubs that are calm and quiet – perfect for relaxing with friends. The live music adds a great vibe without being too loud. One of the coolest new things is that you can even play pickleball there! It costs about 4000 rupees per hour, and it’s totally worth it for the experience. Overall, it’s a great place to hang out, eat, and enjoy a nice evening. Highly recommend visiting if you haven’t been in a while!
Chandu A — Google review
Arcade - Independence Square is a beautifully restored colonial-era building that blends history with modern elegance. The stunning architecture, open courtyards, and well-maintained gardens make it a perfect spot for photos, especially with its grand colonial facades and picturesque surroundings. For dining, the Arcade offers a variety of restaurants and cafés, catering to different tastes. Whether you're in the mood for a casual coffee, a fine dining experience, or international cuisine, there are great options to choose from. The peaceful atmosphere and spacious seating make it an excellent dine-in spot. With its mix of high-end boutiques, dining options, and photo-worthy scenery, Arcade - Independence Square is a must-visit destination in Colombo for both locals and tourists.

Paradise Road is a spacious retailer offering a stylish collection of home goods and decor items, including dishware, handicrafts, and art. Housed in the former office premises of renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa, The Gallery Cafe provides a visual feast with its blend of mossy old brick, cut cement, cobblestone, wood, and wrought iron set amidst lush greenery.
A good place to pick up Sri Lanka inspired home wear. Great wrapping service for gifts and transporting to take back home from your visit to Colombo. Something for everyone but be ready to wish you had more luggage space if you are not local. On the 1st floor there is also a lovely little cafe which serves a delicious cup of masala chai.
Monamie M — Google review
As a first time visitor, loved the huge array of products they had. Amazing home decor collections and knick knacks. The team also helped bubble wrap the purchases for our return flight, and they were super quick and efficient.

My favorite place to buy goods for my home just got updated! Great place with loads of quirky, random stuff in addition to useful stuff which will definitely bring a smile to your face! Staff is really helpful. Parking will not be a problem at all. Highly recommended!
Navod K — Google review
Thirty years ago I bought masses of table linen from Paradise Road on a diplomatic posting and I still use it to this day. I was delighted to revisit today and not only shopped up a storm but had a lovely lunch in the Café with probably the first decent latte I’ve had since arriving a ten days ago! The coconut/salad spoons are of a better quality here, unique stuffed toys, table linen and Christmas napkins and holders were all on the list. Unique Expresso cups went in and multiple beautiful sarongs as gifts. It has some great quality gifts for taking back overseas . Staff were helpful . Parking out front and a clean bathroom near the Cafe area. Staff beautifully wrapped everything for suitcase travel .
Denise K — Google review
Such an amazing place, I can spend hours together here just admiring the way things are put up and how simple and fascinating design can be . The food at the cafe is also delicious though vegetarian options are limited.
Vijayalakshmi K — Google review
Paradise Road has the best handmade items. They are made with care and look special. I really like their collection!
Tharaka W — Google review
I think my wife would love to live in this store 🤣🤣. There are really some beautiful items here. I do find some products a bit expensive, but to be fair, we have objects and tableware that are over ten years old and still in good condition. So the quality is definitely there.
T. R — Google review
The outlet offer good varieties of souvenirs, dining cutlery, handy craft, carving of stone and woods. All these are display within the outlet to its maximum, making it difficult to move around with comfort. Stairway to upper level is narrow Nd step too. Unless one have specific items to look for from this place, there are many other shops that offer better comfort shopping experience.

Fabric store
Barefoot is a renowned shop in Colombo, founded by artist Barbara Sansoni. The store is famous for its colorful clothing, unique crafts, fabric, and books. It has become a landmark with its vibrant flags fluttering in the Galle Road breeze. The two-story shop is filled with an array of fabric pieces and also features a courtyard cafe and a gallery showcasing contemporary artwork.
One of my all-time favourite shops! The beautifully crafted, vibrant items are of exceptional quality. I’ve admired Barbara Sansoni’s work ever since my mother showed us the little stuffed mouse she had as a child. Visiting the Barefoot store in Colombo was an absolute delight, and I loved it so much that I went two days in a row—just to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the wonderful café as well!

This was recommended from a friend on recent trip to Sri Lanka. Everything sold here is top notch high quality handmade fabric with loom right on location. Was able to buy tons of handmade crafts to remember trip and treat myself to a silk and cotton handwoven, handmade dress. I wouldn’t call it a bargain, but the quality makes it totally worth it. Added bonus is how gorgeous the store is with all the colorful textiles. Head’s up, no pictures allowed - but it’s a visual paradise!
Tara A — Google review
Wonderful atmosphere with a nice and small gallery. I assume it caters mainly to tourists, but I came twice because it’s a great place to buy gifts that are locally made. It’s also a historic spot, running since 1968 I believe.
Yasmin — Google review
This store is absolutely colorful and attractive✨️🤩 The prices of those products were reasonable especially for tourists💵👍 There was a good variety of various batik items🎨🎭 Also there was a book store inside of this store📚 This store was packed with tourists during my visit, which means this place attracts lot of tourists🛍🚶‍♀️
Kavinda D — Google review
It is a great place for Sundays brunch and lunch. Burgers and cream cheese cake were good. Live music on Sunday in the garden was so atmospheric. One minus, it is outdoors a bit hot and not much of fans. Some humidifiers plus fan would be a fantastic option.

The Dutch Hospital - Shopping Precinct is a charming blend of history and modernity, nestled in the heart of Colombo. Originally built in the 17th century as a hospital for Dutch officers, this beautifully restored site now features two inviting courtyards surrounded by upscale shops and diverse dining options. Visitors can stroll through cobblestone paths while enjoying an array of restaurants, including the renowned Ministry of Crab.
The Old Colombo Dutch Hospital is one of the most fascinating heritage sites in the city. Originally built as a hospital during the Dutch colonial era, it has been beautifully preserved and now stands as a prominent shopping and dining precinct. This stunning heritage building is a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience the charm of Colombo’s colonial past, while also enjoying modern amenities. It is located in the heart of Fort, Colombo, and the Dutch Hospital is surrounded by some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the World Trade Centre, the Bank of Ceylon, and the Central Bank, making it an ideal stop while exploring the area. In addition to its historical significance, the building now houses a range of upscale shops, restaurants, and cafes, blending the old with the new. It’s also one of Colombo's Archaeological Protected Monuments, making it a key piece of the city’s history.
Thesrilanka-lk — Google review
Once a hospital built by the Dutch (believed to be the oldest building in the Colombo fort area) it's a gorgeous, old building complex with restaurants, souvenir stores and other shops. The building feels like a time capsule stuck amidst high rises and modern buildings, and is well maintained so that people can enjoy this bit of history even today.
Sreeram R — Google review
We visited the Dutch Hospital Precinct with my wife and our 10-year-old child, and it was one of the most charming spots in Colombo! The colonial architecture is beautifully preserved, and the evening atmosphere was lively yet relaxing. We had a wonderful meal at Ministry of Crab, which truly lived up to its reputation, and did some souvenir shopping at I ❤️ Sri Lanka. The area is compact but full of character — perfect for a leisurely walk, dining, and browsing local shops. It was conveniently located right beside our hotel, and we loved watching the pigeons at the front entrance — a small but lovely touch that made the place feel alive. Overall, a must-visit spot in Colombo for great food, shopping, and heritage charm, all in one place.
Shaon S — Google review
If you’re someone who appreciates the charm of old-world architecture, this spot in Colombo is a must-visit. The atmosphere here is captivating, with a perfect blend of warm lighting and an inviting vibe that makes the entire experience delightful. Even though I didn’t try any of the numerous restaurants—being already full during my visit—they seemed promising, with a variety of options to explore.
Navneet J — Google review
The Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct in Colombo is a stunning blend of history and modernity. Originally built in 1681 as a hospital for Dutch East India Company officers, it has seen many transformations over the centuries (including the LTTE attack that followed the Central Bank bombing in 1996). Meticulously restored in 2011, the precinct now houses boutiques, cafes, and restaurants while preserving its colonial architecture. The colonnaded structure with its central courtyard provides a cool, relaxing spot amid the city's bustle. Whether you’re exploring history, enjoying a meal, or shopping, this vibrant precinct perfectly captures Colombo’s heritage and contemporary spirit.
Kavinda D — Google review
A historical place in Colombo city. Established in 1681 by the Dutch East India Company when almost all European colonial powers had formed companies to establish 'from trading to occupying' concept on the Indian subcontinent. Previously it served as a hospital in for dutch officcers and soldiers. Now this area turned into a visiting place with shopping market, cafes and restaurants. Now this place is a must visit tourist attraction with attractive colonial European architectural designs.

Lakpahana Handcraft (Private) Limited is particularly renowned for its stunning jewelry collection, as well as its wooden souvenirs, metal objects, Batik clothing, and handloom products.
Great shop with beautiful souvenirs and super friendly staff! I had the pleasure of meeting Thilini — she was incredibly kind and helpful, which made the whole shopping experience excellent. Highly recommended!

Bit over priced, but has a much better selection and of much higher quality than Laksala. Like others have already mentioned, search around for cheaper prices for the same quality items if you have time. Otherwise, if you want a one stop place and doesn't mind paying a bit extra for the convenience I'd highly recommend here.

Best place to buy souvenirs esp handicrafts. I actually like the painted wooden table and paintings, ughh! It's like antique. Love the collections here! Price is reasonable too! We bought some stuff in here!
Jonah E — Google review
A good variety of arts and crafts all in one place. Not the cheapest place to go but most convenient as there are lots of options and it’s in town. The only downside is the way employees follow you around the whole time; I understand if one does but literally had 4 people following us around as if we’re criminals. It’s off putting and makes you want to leave faster.
Leyla H — Google review
Wide variety of products for relatively high prices how ever the manager is unfriendly. "Look at him walking around with his camera" I was walking with the camera because they insisted that i leave my small camera bag. Would not go there, there are other places with similar products close by.
Naveen W — Google review
Frustrating experience. My family usually shops here for souvenirs, and when I visited SL this year, I dropped by. We were asked to leave our hand bags but I politely explained that we had money, passports and other valuable items, and then the security allowed us to carry them inside. When we were browsing, another employee walked up to us and asked to leave the bags outside. When I explained that I already spoke to the security, she insisted we should leave the bags and carry our valuables in hand. Not only this is rude and insensitive but I saw another customer with a hand bag already inside walking around with no issue. Didn't want to argue so immediately walked out and shopped at Laksala just a few hundred metres away.

If someone asks me about my favorite mall in Sri Lanka, it’s still Majestic City. This place still carries that classic 2000s vibe, and I love wandering around alone, just taking it all in. Even the air freshener has a unique smell that adds to the nostalgia. Not sure why I forgot to leave a review before! That being said, try to avoid most outlets in the food court. A lot of the food isn’t great both in taste and quality. Some sellers even show one thing and serve something completely different.

Majestic City (MC) is currently under renovation, so some areas are not fully open. However, the food court is still functioning well. I hope that after the renovation, MC will regain its place among the top shopping malls once again. Looking forward to seeing the new improvements!

With a wide variety of stores, restaurants, and a popular cinema, it’s perfect for a day of shopping, dining, or simply relaxing with friends and family. Majestic City remains one of Colombo’s most beloved and enduring shopping destinations.

Majestic City is a special shopping mall in every Sri Lankan’s heart. 🇱🇰❤️ It’s been around for ages and has always been the go-to place for the younger generation to chill out. The mall has many stores ranging from fashion, mobiles, toys and equipment. The mall even has a KFC and a Pizza Hut for hungry shoppers. The sub floor has a food court with food stalls offering a variety of dishes such as Indian, Thai, Chinese, Sri Lankan and more. The mall also has an entertainment area with video games, virtual reality games and arcade games for people of all ages. Majestic City has stood the test of time and will always be an iconic place in Colombo.

Majestic City is a classic Colombo shopping destination with a bit of everything under one roof. Fashion stores, electronics, a food court, and a cinema. It’s convenient for quick errands or a casual day out. The mall is clean and well-maintained, though it can get crowded during weekends. Parking is straightforward and the location is easy to reach by public transport. A reliable spot for shopping or catching a movie.

Very nice Christmas decorations in MC. I always go to their food court. Affordable prices. Love it. They have a game area where you can play car games, mortal combat and etc. It's a shopping mall with a cinema too.
Dinithi S — Google review
I recently had a day out at Majestic City, and it was such a cool experience. This place has a vibe that's just right for us younger folks. I was amazed by the variety of shops – from trendy clothes to the latest gadgets, they've got everything. It's like a one-stop shop for everything fashionable. The food court is a real highlight. Whether you're craving a quick snack or a sit-down meal, there's plenty to choose from. I had some amazing local dishes there, and the prices were reasonable, too. One thing I love about Majestic City is the bustling atmosphere. It's not just about shopping; people are there to meet up, hang out, and enjoy the day. Plus, it's super easy to get around the mall, and the staff are friendly and helpful. In short, Majestic City is more than just a shopping centre. It's a great place to catch up with friends, try new foods, and, of course, update your wardrobe. Every visit has something unique to offer, and I can't wait for my next trip there.

Liberty Plaza is a well-known multi-level mall in Colombo, offering a variety of familiar apparel and accessories brands as well as casual dining options. Along with other historic shopping malls like Crescat Boulevard, Majestic City, and Unity Plaza, Liberty Plaza is a must-visit for those interested in exploring some of Sri Lanka's oldest brands known for their quality products.
Liberty Plaza in Colombo is one of the city’s oldest shopping malls and still remains a convenient spot for shopping and services. It offers a variety of stores—from clothing, electronics, and accessories to salons, mobile shops, and bookshops. The mall also features government service counters, banking facilities, and a decent food court, making it practical for quick errands or casual visits. While it may not be as modern or flashy as newer malls, it’s clean, secure, and centrally located. Some areas feel a bit outdated, but overall, Liberty Plaza is a reliable and accessible destination for everyday shopping and services.
Umasuthan S — Google review
Liberty Plaza has always been known as the spot for electronics. Phones, accessories, random cables, anything tech-related, this is probably where you start. And I agree with that, 100 percent. Most of the online sellers get their stuff from here anyway. There are shops you have to be careful about, but there are also plenty that you can actually trust. Now, here’s the issue. Apart from the shops, there’s really nothing going on. The place is not maintained. No proper cleaning, no effort to make it feel welcoming, and there’s always some kind of construction happening. Every single time I go there, something’s being drilled, fixed, painted or half-built. It’s been going on for years and it never looks like it’s getting done. The escalators are a gamble. Sometimes they work, sometimes you’re climbing them like stairs and pretending that’s normal. It’s exhausting. And the place just doesn’t feel safe. Not saying it isn’t safe, but the vibe is very off. The shops themselves are good, but they all look the same. There's no character, no uniqueness, just one glass-fronted tech box after another. It all blends in. So yeah, pretty disappointing overall. The shops are the only thing carrying the whole place, and even they deserve a better space than this. But I guess this is what we’ve got.

All kind of mobile phones, accessories can buy here even used phone available for re-sell but be careful there are fake accessories too..... Commercial bank branch, Peoples Bank branch and Mobitel arcade also have....
Akila A — Google review
If you’re buying a device here, make sure to walk around and check at least 10 shops before deciding. Often, the first few shops you visit will have better prices compared to others, and small independent shops usually sell for less than the reputed stores. Before buying, always ask about the warranty. Some shops may offer lower prices but only give a 6-month warranty, no warranty at all, or exclude important parts like the display or battery. Be clear about their terms and conditions first — if you’re okay with it, then proceed. Also, in some cases, the device price may be cheap but the accessories are very expensive. So, check the total cost for everything before you buy. Liberty Plaza can be a good place for deals — but only if you do your homework and compare carefully.

Laksala is a state-owned gift and souvenir shop in Sri Lanka that offers a wide range of locally made products, including spices like Ceylon cinnamon, arts and crafts, contemporary gifts, homeware, souvenirs, crockery, jewelry, accessories, clothing and skincare. Unlike haggling with market vendors, Laksala provides set prices for its appealing products and has helpful staff. The store emphasizes socially responsible trading to ensure fair prices and fair trade while fostering local crafts.
If you are looking for Sri Lanka-branded gifts and souvenirs, this is the perfect place to visit. It is popular among travelers, even more so than locals. The store features a large collection of mostly handcrafted items. The place is well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you are a traveler, I recommend seeking assistance from the staff rather than wandering around aimlessly. While some gifts may seem a bit expensive, there is a wide range of prices available. Additionally, there is ample parking inside the premises.

Great place to get souvenirs for friends and family. The store is large and they have many beautiful things for you or your loved ones. Some items include clothing, hand carved items, precious stones, jewelry, ayurvedic oils, artwork, collectibles and much more. I visited this store in 2023 when I first came to Sri Lanka and again during my current trip to pick up gifts not only for myself but for friends and family back home.

We were told that Laksala was a government owned shopping center, which has vast varities, right from handicarft, crockery, ayurvedic medicines, apparels, etc. However, it was expensive as compared to other shops. In fact the prices in the souvenier shop at Lotus tower is lower. Pls chose other local shops for your shopping ti get better deal.

Laksala is a must-visit spot in Sri Lanka for anyone interested in authentic, high-quality handicrafts and souvenirs. The store is packed with a beautiful variety of hand-made items, including traditional crafts, gift items, tea, clothing, and unique keepsakes. It’s a perfect place to find something memorable to take home, whether for yourself or as a gift. Laksala also has a dedicated entrance for differently-abled visitors, making it accessible to everyone. The vibrant collection and friendly staff make it an enjoyable shopping experience. What's more, you can be sure about the authenticity of the products they sell. From handicraft to batik, leather goods and brassware, tea or spices you have a wide range to choose from. Odel is a renowned Sri Lankan retail brand that operates a popular department store in Colombo. The store features a wide range of products including clothing, accessories, shoes, perfumes, books, luggage and souvenirs from both its own brand and international labels like Nike, Adidas, Mango and local favorites. Spanning 33,000 sq ft, the modern shopping center offers an extensive collection of perfumes, clothing, jewelry, toys and gifts.
I can recommend this place. A large selection of Levi's brand clothing at good prices. The staff are very friendly and always helpful.

1. This place is the only stand alone store that charges for parking. I can understand a multi outlet store or mall charging for parking but a stand alone store? 2 To make matters worse everything is exorbitantly priced. Just not worth the price. 3. Maybe this is the effect of the company going broke, however these policies will only make it worse. BEST AVOIDED.
Firoze M — Google review
I have been there several times. It is good but small. I like the small stalls just in front of the office. The Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop is also there, in front of the stalls. There is parking available, but we need to pay for it. Sometimes, there are discounts on shoes and dresses at ODEL, and visiting in February and March offers good deals. The parking charges seem unfair, but since the area is a bit congested, charging for parking helps prevent misuse.
Sameera S — Google review
What happened to the Odel that we know? It felt like only the name has remained and nothing else is the same. Nothing to shop and I found it hard to use up the vouchers I had. The place is clean, staff faces unhappy, the women's clothing was not interesting at all, households section had the last bit of towels... Delifrance was the only ok experience for me. Also, the kind and curteous cashier at Odel.
Jay K — Google review
Odel's flagship store stands as a premier shopping destination in Sri Lanka, offering a diverse range of products, including clothing, accessories, cosmetics, footwear, and home décor. The store's expansive layout is thoughtfully organized, providing a comfortable and enjoyable shopping experience. The interior is well-maintained, with clean facilities and spacious fitting rooms, enhancing the overall customer experience. Odel offers a wide variety of products catering to different tastes and preferences. The women's clothing section is particularly notable, featuring both casual and formal wear. Additionally, the store houses a selection of souvenirs, lifestyle products, accessories, and home décor items, making it a one-stop shop for both locals and tourists. The staff at Odel are known for their cooperation and helpfulness, contributing to a pleasant shopping atmosphere. Their attentiveness and willingness to assist customers enhance the overall shopping experience. While Odel offers a broad selection of high-quality products, I have noted that certain items can be on the pricier side. The store provides ample parking space, adding to the convenience for visitors. Adjacent to the main building is an open food court, which serves as a delightful spot to relax and enjoy a meal after shopping, especially during the evenings.
Vachintha P — Google review
Whether you're a seasoned brand hunter or a casual browser, Odel delivers big. With a vast array of international and local brands spread across different floors, it's easy to find whatever your wardrobe (or home) desires. From high-end fashion to everyday essentials, the variety is impressive. Plus, the layout is spacious and inviting, making browsing a breeze. There's not much to complain about at Odel, other than perhaps the potential for overspending! Prices range across the spectrum, catering to various budgets, but be prepared to be tempted by all the goodies on offer. Overall, Odel is a one-stop shop for anyone who enjoys quality retail therapy. With its extensive brand selection, comfortable atmosphere, and convenient location, it's easy to see why it earns a solid 4 out of 5 rating. Just bring your credit card and prepare to indulge!

One Galle Face Mall, situated near the Galle Face Green in Colombo, is the largest international shopping complex in Sri Lanka. Boasting over 200 retail outlets, a kids' cinema theater, and a high-quality themed food court with stunning ocean views, this modern seven-level mall offers an unparalleled shopping and entertainment experience.
One of the best shopping malls in the country. Modern, spacious and filled with great shops. Most of which are unique, local and no where to be found in anywhere in the world. Also there are tons of international brands here as well. Whatever you need, there is a good chance you could find it here. There are great dinning options and entertainment options available here as well. Most of which are kid friendly. You can find a lot of international restaurants here as well as fancy local ones. The sea view from terrace is a highlight and the place is always clean and well maintained. Perfect spot for a day out.

One Galle Face Mall is an absolute gem in the heart of Colombo. It's truly a world-class shopping destination that offers a fantastic mix of international and local brands. The atmosphere is upscale, clean, and well-maintained, making it a pleasure to walk around. You can easily spend an entire day here, whether you're shopping, enjoying a meal, or catching a movie. The food court, "Food Studio," is a major highlight, with a wide variety of cuisines to choose from. There are also many great standalone restaurants and cafes throughout the mall. The PVR Cinemas offer a top-notch movie-watching experience, and there's even a play area for kids, making it a great spot for the whole family. While it can get quite busy, especially on weekends, the spacious design and multiple floors help to manage the crowds. The staff are generally very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a premium shopping and entertainment experience in Colombo, One Galle Face is the place to go.

When One Galle Face Mall opened its doors in November 2019, it marked a new chapter in Colombo’s modern city life. Built by Shangri-La, right beside the breezy Galle Face Green, the mall quickly became a symbol of sophistication — a place where locals and travelers alike could shop, dine, and unwind under one roof. Spread across seven floors, it’s a world of its own — more than 300 outlets bringing together the best of international and Sri Lankan brands. Visitors stroll past names like Nike and Tommy Hilfiger, then turn a corner to find beloved local favorites such as ODEL and Lakarcade, where Sri Lankan crafts and souvenirs tell their own stories. It's also connected to Shangri-la hotel. Food lovers find plenty to savor at the Food Studio, a lively food court filled with global flavors, while those seeking something more elegant can head up to the rooftop restaurants overlooking the ocean — perfect for sunsets and city lights. For entertainment, the PVR cinema multiplex offers the latest movies, and children can laugh and play at the Adventure Zone. Located at 1A, Centre Road, Colombo 02, the mall is easy to reach — by bus from the Galle Face stop, by train to Kompannavidiya (Slave Island), or through a simple Uber or PickMe ride. With convenient parking and long opening hours from 10 AM to 10 PM, One Galle Face Mall has become more than just a shopping center; it’s a vibrant part of Colombo’s everyday rhythm — a modern meeting place where the city comes together by the sea.

One Galle Face Mall is truly amazing — probably the best place in Sri Lanka for branded shopping. We explored all the floors and found a great mix of local and international stores, all conveniently under one roof. The food court was excellent, with plenty of choices and affordable prices. There’s also a supermarket on the ground floor, where we picked up some essentials before heading back home to Bangladesh. The watch stores had a decent collection, especially Wrist Lab, though prices are on the higher side due to import taxes. We also found a great deal on a branded perfume at Odel, thanks to an ongoing sale. Our 10-year-old had a great time at the gaming zone, which made the visit fun for the whole family. Overall, One Galle Face Mall is modern, well-organized, and family-friendly — a must-visit spot in Colombo for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Good Market is a vibrant and cheerful small market that offers a variety of locally sourced organic produce and goods. It provides a platform for small-scale businesses and start-ups to showcase their products, making them accessible to the public. The market is often present at community events, serving as an excellent option for marketing environmentally friendly products.
While we would have loved to experience the big Saturday market at the racecourse, we weren’t in Colombo on that day. I loved the shop though, visited mid-morning on a Friday. It may be small but there were lots of great products, all carefully curated to support social enterprises and responsible businesses. We stocked up on gifts for family and local food products to take back to Australia. The Good Market team were incredibly generous with their time too and answered my many curious questions. I can’t speak highly enough of this phenomenal organisation, running an online marketplace (all over the world!), a retail shop, weekly markets, a business incubator and so much more.
Kylie F — Google review
Having explored most markets in Colombo, I must say, if you're expecting to spend an hour immersing yourself in vibrant stalls and unique finds like even the smallest market in Spain, you’ll be sorely disappointed. These markets barely took us 10 minutes to walk through—some even less than that. At the "Good Market" near the racecourse, a glaring sign read: "Bankrupt financially and bankrupt morally." It wasn’t just the sign that left a bad impression; people had recommended these markets, so I had hoped for something more substantial, perhaps a lively atmosphere with street food and a variety of stalls. Instead, every stall seemed geared solely towards tourists, lacking authenticity. What really soured the experience was the blatant overcharging. A curd vendor had labels clearly stating Rs. 700, yet when my wife—fluent in Sinhala—asked, the price magically became $20. This left both of us with a bitter taste, literally and figuratively. Are these markets worth your time? In my opinion, absolutely not. And while my feedback may fall on deaf ears, to the organisers, I’d suggest rethinking the concept entirely. Turn it into a proper experience—a place worth visiting. If you lack the know-how, perhaps consult someone who understands how to run a vibrant market. Where’s the variety? Years ago, I knew someone who sold rabbits and chicks at the Good Market, but now there’s not a single animal in sight. The whole affair feels poorly run and lackluster. On a positive note, Google Maps did its job, guiding us to the right buses. Although it took us slightly further than necessary, requiring a longer walk, it wasn’t a big issue compared to the market experience itself. In summary: underwhelming, overpriced, and not worth the effort.
Kevin C — Google review
There’s a one big shop which is open everyday in the good market. The others are stalls in walking distance. It’s a good place you can have a snack or a full meal and spend half of the day. You can mostly find homemade stuff. I bought few but they aren’t the best products I found. We went looking for Kimchi. Didn’t find it. There’s an information center too. If you’re looking for a specific thing you might get the correct details. Expensive.
Hasara L — Google review

Marino Mall is a stylish waterfront shopping destination in Colombo, Sri Lanka, situated along Galle Road. Boasting a contemporary architectural design, the mall offers an inviting retail space spanning 150,000 square feet. Visitors can explore a diverse array of shopping options including fashion boutiques, electronics stores, and accessory shops. Notably, Marino Mall features cutting-edge entertainment facilities such as a virtual reality gaming center - the first of its kind in Colombo - and a thrilling 9D cinema.
Marno mall is a great place to hang out, meet people, shop and eat. The location is very convenient. Food is delicious and value for money. You have a selection of different cuisines. Their Tea Lounge is the best in town where they serve Freshly brewed Ceylon tea from their own estates. I usually visit Marino Mall several days per week. Their staff is extremely friendly and trained to provide an exclusive service.

This place is perfect for anyone who loves enjoying a sea view while having a meal. Inside the mall, there are several cafes and restaurants with reasonably priced food—some are delicious, while others are just okay. Either way, it’s worth a visit to experience the unique vibe of this place. Personally, I love it! But as a mall their’s nothing special to enjoy and do.

Marino Mall offers a satisfying food scene with diverse dining options, though patience is key—service can be slow, especially during peak hours. While the quality and variety of meals impress, be prepared for longer waits at both restaurants and food court counters. Ideal for relaxed outings when you're not time-pressed.

Small but would say they have the more fancy and traditional food within the mall. Have tea and watch the sunset. Must try.
Eng L — Google review
I have been visiting Marino Mall since the day it opened, and it has remained one of my favorite places in Colombo. My connection with this mall goes back to my university days since the place where I studied was nearby. During our free time, my friends and I would visit Marino Mall to relax, explore, and spend quality time. Even after all these years, I still find myself coming here for meetings, casual visits, and sometimes just to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. What Makes Marino Mall Special? Less Crowded & Peaceful Ambience Unlike other malls in Sri Lanka, Marino Mall is never overcrowded. This is one of the biggest reasons I enjoy coming here. Whether you want to shop, dine, or just hang out, you can do so without the usual hustle and bustle. It’s a great place for those who prefer a calm and relaxed shopping experience. Great Dining Options & Sunset Views Marino Mall offers a variety of dining options, from quick snacks to full-course meals. The restaurants here provide not only delicious food but also an amazing sunset view, which makes dining even more enjoyable. Whether you’re meeting someone for a business discussion or just catching up with friends, the setting is perfect. 9D Cinema – A Unique Experience When Marino Mall first opened, one of the most exciting attractions was their 9D cinema. My very first 9D movie experience was right here, and it was truly unforgettable! The combination of immersive visuals, movement, and effects made it a thrilling experience. Even though I visit the mall less frequently now compared to my university days, I still make it a point to stop by the VR gaming and entertainment area whenever I get a chance. Wide Range of Stores – Especially Soap & Beauty Brands One thing that stands out at Marino Mall is the wide variety of soap and beauty brands they offer. It’s one of the best places in Sri Lanka to shop for high-quality skincare and personal care products. Apart from that, the mall has several well-known brands, making it a great place for shopping in general. Final Thoughts If you are looking for a modern, spacious, and peaceful mall in Colombo with great dining, unique entertainment options, and excellent shopping choices, Marino Mall is the place to be. It’s a great spot for both locals and tourists, whether you want to shop, relax, or just enjoy a less crowded yet premium mall experience. I highly recommend visiting!

During a recent visit to Selyn (Fair Trade) in Colombo, I had the chance to experience a unique and inspiring shopping atmosphere. This boutique specializes in handmade, fair trade products ranging from colourful toys, home décor, clothing, accessories, and uniquely Sri Lankan handicrafts. Every item on display tells a story of skilled craftsmanship and ethical production, giving a deeper sense of appreciation for what you're buying. Parking is somewhat limited near the store, but there's the convenience of street-side parking which worked well during my visit. Once inside, the warm and welcoming ambience is immediately noticeable, along with the helpful and friendly staff who are ready to assist without being intrusive. The prices lean toward the higher side, but it’s evident that you’re paying for quality, sustainability, and the empowerment of local artisans. For those who value ethically-made goods and meaningful purchases, the cost is justified by the value and purpose behind each product. What stood out the most was the shopping experience itself — it’s not just about picking up souvenirs or décor, but about connecting with Sri Lanka’s rich cultural artistry in a modern yet authentic setting. Selyn offers a refreshing alternative to mainstream gift shops, making it well worth a visit for those seeking something special and socially responsible.

I had the privilege of coming across this business many years ago(2016). When I saw the beautiful colors and crafting quality, I was entranced. When I heard about their start, their mission, and their purpose, it brought tears to my eyes. I immediately bought more items than I would ever wear. Those items have remained durable and high quality to this day. Today, I pulled them out of my treasures from all my adventures and was reminded of this memory. These great women have earned and deserve all your support. BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS. You won't regret it.

Lovely staff and very nice handloom products. I bought a cotton sari and very happy with it. Bit expensive than what I late bought but definitely the fabric is much more superior .

House of Fashions is a standout among the numerous cheap clothing outlets in and around Colombo, Sri Lanka. Unlike many others, they offer good quality items at incredibly low prices. Located in Pettah, the trading hub of Colombo and Sri Lanka, House of Fashions is known for its wide range of wholesale products available at affordable prices. Despite the maze-like streets leading to this area, visitors can find an abundance of goods to explore and purchase.
This shopping mall is a hidden gem for anyone looking to buy everything under one roof at unbeatable prices. From daily essentials to fashion, and more.the variety is impressive. But what really stands out is their winter jacket collection, stylish, high-quality, and super affordable. Whether you're looking for something warm and practical or trendy and bold, there's a jacket for every taste and budget. Everything well-organized so you can walk away with great deals. Highly recommend for smart shoppers who want quality without breaking the bank!

It was a great shopping experience there with plenty of stuff, even the seasons off I could find all seasons cloths. This place I saw there winter clothes too. Not only clothes, every house hold equipment as well as camping gears spread in six stories huge mall may be a one of the biggest mall in Colombo with enough free parking. In the basement there is a food court but not enough selections but can relax there. Staff not try to assist you but if need assistance the promptly help. I like it. Place with in the busy city but when you goes inside the premises you can spend there many hours without busy. I can recommend this place to do convenience shopping for house hold items in one place with reasonable and affordable price with good quality.

Disappointed with Damaged Item and Exchange Experience On 15/06/2025, I purchased a trouser from this place and later noticed a few damages, unfortunately only after removing the label. On 22/06/2025, I returned to the exchange counter and showed them the photos of the damage. They asked me to bring the item back. However, when I did so, the elderly gentleman at the counter told me they couldn’t accept it. I’m really disappointed to have bought a damaged item from such a reputed place. I’ve always loved the beautiful clothes sold here at affordable prices, but this experience was very discouraging.

As always a great shopping experience at House of Fashions. Their variety never fails to amaze. Very high value for money. They have their own shops so buyers are not paying for rent cost added to the price that happens when you shop at major shopping malls. Do check and try out before you buy. Best for family shopping. Free, safe and ample parking is a huge plus. Friendly and helpful staff. Will be back for sure.
Janaka S — Google review
I had an excellent experience at House of Fashions, Colombo 08. I was assisted by Mr. Prasad, a talented young sales executive, while shopping for winter clothing. Instead of just pointing me to a rack, he asked the right questions to understand my needs, shared valuable insights about cold weather and body response, and even gave practical tips on how to stay warm in extreme conditions while recommending me with the ideal winter clothes to carry to my travel destination. It’s rare to meet a salesperson who goes beyond just selling and truly educates the customer. Prasad showed professionalism, product knowledge, and genuine care, the kind of service that creates lasting customer trust. He is an asset to House of Fashions and a great example of excellent salesmanship.
Thivanka V — Google review
I’ve been visiting House of Fashion for more than 20 years now, and it’s still one of the best shopping destinations in Sri Lanka. From the very beginning, this place has always impressed me with its huge variety of items — clothes for men, women, and kids, shoes, bags, homeware, toys, perfumes, and so much more. No matter what you’re looking for, you’ll almost always find something here that suits your taste and budget. The store layout has changed a lot over the years, but it keeps getting better and more organized. The prices are still very reasonable compared to other big stores in Colombo, and you can easily spend a few hours shopping without even realizing how time flies. It’s one of those places that truly offers something for everyone — from daily wear to office attire, party outfits, and even travel essentials. During our last visit, we went there specifically to buy winter clothes for an upcoming trip. I must say, the collection was really good — they had jackets, gloves, mufflers, sweaters, and everything needed for cold weather. One of the staff members, a young man who seemed like an expert in winter wear, was extremely helpful. He patiently guided us, explained the material differences, and even suggested which items would be most suitable for freezing temperatures. Thanks to him, we managed to find exactly what we needed without wasting time. What I appreciate most about House of Fashion is that it has managed to keep its quality, variety, and affordability consistent through all these years. It’s a place that locals and tourists both love, and for good reason. Parking can be a little tight during weekends, but that’s only because the place is so popular. If you’re in Colombo and want to do some serious shopping — whether it’s casual wear, formal clothes, gifts, or even winter gear — I highly recommend visiting House of Fashion. It’s truly a one-stop shop and one of the few stores in Sri Lanka that has stood the test of time while keeping customers happy for decades.

House of fashion is a place you can buy quality stuff at a reasonable price from fashionable clothes to household items. Staff is very helpful. Household items section sales personnel Sashi is a very energetic active girl who will assist anyone who goes to that flow. Admirable personality where you will not find many in this field.

Not Recommended at All 🤮🤮🤮 I visited House of Fashion recently, and the experience at their men’s section was terrible. The staff there were extremely rude, unhelpful, and treated us with no respect. Even the staff manager was unprofessional and did not handle the situation properly. Instead of assisting customers, they behaved in a harsh and unfriendly manner. This is completely unacceptable for a store of this reputation. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant shopping experience.

Floating market
Pettah Floating Market is a unique shopping destination located on Beira Lake, featuring over 90 trade stalls selling a variety of goods including food, clothing, electronics, and handicrafts. Some of the stalls are built on boats, adding to the market's distinctive charm. Originally established to relocate street vendors from busy Pettah streets, it has evolved into a popular tourist attraction while providing locals with a platform to sell their produce and crafts.
The Floating Market in Pettah is an interesting concept that brings a touch of calm to the usually busy heart of Colombo. Built along Beira Lake, the market is designed with wooden walkways and floating platforms that host shops and stalls. You can find a mix of items here—from clothing and electronics to handicrafts, souvenirs, and local snacks. The lakeside setting gives it a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the bustling Pettah streets just outside. That said, the market doesn’t always feel as lively as one might expect. Many stalls remain closed or sparsely stocked, which can make the space seem quieter than a typical Sri Lankan market. Some of the charm is also offset by occasional issues with water quality in the lake, which may affect the overall experience. Despite that, the Floating Market is still worth visiting if you enjoy photography, a peaceful stroll, or simply want to experience something different in Colombo. The best time to go is late afternoon or early evening, when the sun is setting and the atmosphere becomes more pleasant. While it may not be as bustling as other markets, the Floating Market offers a unique perspective of the city and a nice place to pause during your visit to Pettah.
Vishal S — Google review
Unfortunately not worth a visit. There are only a handful of restaurants open and that’s it. No floating-market at all… really a bummer, could be or maybe used to be nice! But at least you can get a good view of the Lotus Tower from here.
Kayef 2 — Google review
Floating market is all hype. There is nothing necessary you have to buy or will catch your interest. I don't know why everyone suggests it. But trust me its nothing like a local market. But the place itself is quite beautiful. You can see in the pictures. There is a small lake with green water. And beautifully organized shops inside the market. Its a good place to hangout or goofing around with friends.
Mosayedul I — Google review
Visited the floating market, but it was quite disappointing. Most shops were empty or had very few items, nothing special to buy. Pros: The market is located by a lake, so there is some scenic value. Cons / Tips: Water in the lake has a strong, unpleasant smell. Many shops are empty or poorly stocked, and some have a weird odor. Not much to buy or explore; not ideal for shopping. Tip: Visit only if you want to see the lake or take photos; don’t expect a good shopping experience."

Visited this shop yesterday, and it was a great experience. Absolutely beautiful clothing, pleasant shop environment, and friendly and welcoming employees. I ended up selecting some flowy silky dresses and shawls (which were a little bit pricey but truly excellent quality, so a good value). I need to come back soon when I have more time so I can look at their jewelry and bags—they have a good selection of really interesting designs). I also didn’t have a chance to shop in the household goods section, because I had very little time, but it also looked to have some really cool merchandise. I’ll be back soon for sure!

Beautiful work from many local vendors and designers! I shopped here on 2 different occasions picking up pieces from a variety of brands. The reason for my 3 star review is the attitude from the staff. I believe her name was Zainab - both times I was in the store I was met with hostility. A smile wouldn’t hurt once in a while…

Ceylon Tea Supermarket is a family-owned shop that specializes in offering a diverse selection of handpicked loose-leaf Sri Lankan teas. As a major exporter of tea, Sri Lanka has established itself as an expert in marketing its tea to tourists. In Colombo, numerous tea boutiques, lounges, and cafes have emerged, showcasing an array of tea flavors with attractive packaging suitable for gifting or personal use.
I visited the Ceylon Tea Supermarket at the end of Aug 2024. The store is really big and has a big selection of teas mainly from Halpé brand. The staff in the shop is really friendly and helpful. I was able to try a couple of teas to help me decide which one I want to get. I was also told about different types of teas and how the region where it grows changes it’s colour and flavour. Also there’s pineapple processing plant right next door so the whole place has a lovely sweet pineapple smell. I highly recommend!

I have been meaning to leave a review for a while, to thank CJS, Mr Hyzam Rauf and Staff for such a fantastic jewellery store. What makes them stand out is not just their beautiful pieces, but also their extraordinary customer service, the best I have seen anywhere. When my mum lost an earring ( one of a pair) the famous jewellery store we bought it from simply shrugged their shoulders and did not want to recreate another one for us. But CJS did and my mum was so happy. The pieces they sell are absolutely gorgeous and one of a kind. I have shopped all over the world and their craftsmanship is next to none. And you definitely get what you pay for. What’s even better is they are generous towards their customers in every way which something I rarely see. I rate this even higher than all the precious gems.

I had someone buy me a few products from Spa Ceylon recently as I wanted to support a local SL brand. And Spa Ceylon came highly recommended. However, I am quite disappointed that the brand is labelled as luxury because the products are far from it! I bought 3 of the tube lip balms. And they are so grainy and rough! Its more of a lip scrub than a lip balm. Please do not purchase! I got the mango, citrus & grapefruit flavors FYI. Its unfortunate because they are pricey for 8g of product and I have no way of returning them as I live abroad. Please be warned.

I would highly recommend the place. All type of luxurious ayurvedic products are available. The cardomom butter handcream and sleep balm are my favorite. Quality level is much beyond expectations. Prices are little high but worth for their standards. Assistance is appreciated. The place is so eye-catching.

I visited this place this morning and a guy dressed in Black attire, may be a security guy but in normal dress was coming towards me almost frowning as if I'm going to steal something. No greetings at all till I asked him " Don't you greet customers"? Then, this fellow pointed towards a lady in Saree but she too came towards me without any greetings but I questioned her again "Don't you greet your customers"? She replied No Sir not like that.... bla..bla. I think, Janett should train her people to first Greet and welcome Customer into SpaCeylon. This is not a Government department but a business place that depends on Customers. They need good customer service first not Posh atmosphere.
Shabir F — Google review
I am very disappointed with Spa Ceylon. I ordered a scheduled birthday gift and it was not delivered on time, completely ruining the purpose of the order. I then asked for a cancellation and refund. Since then, Spa Ceylon has given me multiple false promises with refund dates, but the money has still not been returned. Recently, they even sent me a so-called “refund proof,” but when I checked directly with their payment gateway, I was informed that Spa Ceylon has not initiated any refund at all. This shows a complete lack of honesty and professionalism. The customer service is not answering my calls and not responding to my emails. Please stop misleading customers and process my refund immediately. Others should be aware of this experience before trusting Spa Ceylon with their orders.
Poornima W — Google review
Spa Ceylon, where luxury ends the moment you place an order online. Their customer care team could win an Olympic gold for false promises, especially on delivery dates. And just when you think it can't get worse, they've partnered with CityPack — a duo so dysfunctional, you'd think it was a sitcom. My advice? Skip the headache. Walk into a store if you must, or better yet, pamper yourself elsewhere. Luxury should feel effortless — not like this frustrating comedy of errors.

Loved it! The store hosts unique and trendy Sri Lankan items! Was so pleased to visit - the place made me smile! Will be back for sure.

I recently visited Pendi and I was honestly blown away by the experience. It’s not just a regular store it’s a beautifully curated concept space that brings together the work of over 90 local designers from all around Sri Lanka. Every item felt special and thoughtfully made. What really stood out to me was their lamp collection. Pendi designs and manufactures their own lamps, and I’ve never seen anything quite like them before. Each piece is so unique, and the best part is they actually customise the lamps to your exact needs! Whether it’s the size, colour, material, or design, they’re super flexible and happy to help you create something perfect for your space. They also offer interior design services, which I found really impressive. You can tell they understand design deeply, and it shows in every corner of the store. The quality of their products is excellent everything feels durable and well-crafted. Plus, the prices are very reasonable considering the high quality and long lasting nature of what they sell. Shopping with them was super convenient too. You can either shop in-store or order online, and they offer delivery across Sri Lanka and even internationally, which is such a plus. Their staff was friendly, helpful, and genuinely passionate about what they do. The location is easy to access, and their opening hours are really customer-friendly, whether you’re local or visiting from abroad. I left feeling inspired and will definitely be coming back. If you’re into unique, high-quality design with great servicePendi is a must visit!

Beautiful array of furniture and other items. If you are ever looking out for modern furniture designs that you can't get from the ordinary furniture shops, this place would be the best place. However, keep in mind that the price tags are a little high but worth the value you get.

Independence Square, nestled in the vibrant heart of Colombo, is a delightful urban oasis that beckons both locals and travelers. This picturesque park features the Independence Memorial Hall, a significant national monument celebrating Sri Lanka's liberation from British rule on February 4, 1948. The square is adorned with lush lawns, meticulously designed gardens, and playful areas for children, making it an ideal spot for families and fitness enthusiasts alike.
Independence Square is one of the most peaceful and picturesque spots in the city. The blend of rich history and modern open spaces creates the perfect setting for a morning jog, an evening stroll, or simply sitting down to enjoy the fresh air. The lawns are always well-kept, and the iconic Independence Memorial Hall never fails to impress with its grandeur. Whether you’re a photography enthusiast, a fitness lover, or someone who just wants a quiet escape from the busy city life, this place has something for everyone. Truly one of Colombo’s finest public spaces!

Beautiful structure where many people are seen chilling or site seeing. This place holds a lot of political significance and till today whatever political victories happen, the signing of documents are done here in memory of the independence Square. There's a museum too which is on one side of the structure. It is packed with history. One must definitely check it out in Colombo.
Nyesha S — Google review
Really nice place to get a glimpse of local life and see how people in the city go about their day. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk or some light exercise — super calm and relaxing all around. You can really feel the history of the place too, which makes it even more special. Definitely recommend coming around sunset, the view and atmosphere are just amazing!
Sai R — Google review
It’s a really quiet place to sit and relax. They won’t allow to take pictures of the statues and stuffs, but you can take pictures of you inside the hall. And when I sit and relax for a while then tried to read a book, they said something in Sinhala like I shouldn’t read there or anything, I was confused and had to leave. Anyway the place was amazing.
Sreesangameera S — Google review
Independence Square is one of Colombo’s most approachable heritage spots: historically meaningful without feeling like a formal museum visit, and pleasant for a short break from the city. It’s ideal if you like architecture, quiet green spaces, easy photo ops, or a quick cultural stop that pairs well with nearby cafés and attractions
Mohamed Y — Google review
The independence memorial hall built to commemorate the country's independence from British control on 4 Feb 1948. The design is influenced by the ancient architecture of the Kandyan era. Not being properly maintained. Lighting at night is not up to the standards of similar national monuments. Apparently there's no freedom or liberty to the visitors as per the numerous notices displayed throughout the premises (which destroys the beauty and historical value of the place). No close by toilets, cafes or souvenir shops. This place needs to be maintained well, nicely lit up and opened 24 hours without manned by security (CCTV would do). Being a tourism oriented country, the authorities need to consider taking a more liberal and progressive approach in managing these places of national significance and are tourist attractions.

IS in Colombo is a truly captivating historical landmark. The stunning architecture, detailed carvings, and unique handcrafted designs make the entire place stand out with its own charm. This is the main park in Colombo. Security is high, but we can freely walk around, and parking is free, though limited. On a sunny day, staying under the shade is a great comfort. On holidays, people come for picnics, but the park seems to be more popular among Muslims than other ethnic groups. A bike rental facility is also available. they have horse ride,.horse carriage riding which was around 200 per person. And they also had paddle boats for 100/=per person. It was a fun experience. It's a big, green, peaceful space right in the city's heart - perfect for a chill walk or just relaxing under the trees. The park is clean and well-maintained, with many shady spots, walking paths, and benches. There's a cool golden Buddha statue at one end and the Town Hall building right across the road, so it's a nice little area to explore. Families, joggers, and some street vendors were around, but it wasn't crowded. You might catch some local events or kids playing cricket if you're lucky.

A small lane that has 4-5 restaurants in it, the place is lit up by lanterns and fairy lights. Each restaurant focuses on one cuisine- Pan Asian, Italian, Middle-eastern, French and Japanese. The place gets very vibrant on weekends. The food is tasty and priced about right.

Went to park street mews on a weekday for lunch. The place has a warm ambiance with a high roof that makes it feel spacious. The staff are friendly and kind. There were a few guests. The place has both indoor and outdoor dining facilities. There's a soothing background score running. The menu has breakfasts running till 2pm. It also has starters, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and mains. The desserts are limited to a few, but good. The smoked chicken burger with salad was really good. Would recommend trying it once. The avocado milkshake was good. The sausage based starter was yum.

Ample choices!!! Yes! You name it they got it. Great location love the atmosphere they have created. Looks lovely in the night with street lights and everything. Ample parking space at the back. (Finding the parking area is a bit tricky and challenging). Love the furniture, the rustic look adds greater glamour. Most of the restaurants are not Air conditioned but they got fans and stuff. Perfect place to hang with your friends and family. Food was great and tasty. But only down side was the pricing. You are look at about 2500+ if you get a main, drink/beverage and share a appetizer with a friend. So yeah expensive!! But i must tell you its kinda worth it. They do give free bed and butter with olive oil, good stuff. Clean and tidy bathrooms. Must try the spicy cheese toast, high recommended. Beverages are average and i hv had better. Overall great experience and would definitely recommend. Better in the night with lights!!

Breakfast restaurant
t-Lounge by Dilmah – Chatham Street is a haven for tea enthusiasts in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It's the go-to place for an extensive selection of unblended teas, including Exceptionals, Gourmet tea selection, Ceylon Green tea, organic selection, infusions, Elixir of Ceylon tea, and more.
One of my best loved cafes in Colombo. The interior and the details are spot on. Cozy little gem of a place serving a variety of drinks and food. A lot of foreigners milling in and out of this cafe. They serve a welcome drink in a tiny mug, which is very thoughtful. I was mind-blown by the mungo strawberry drink today. They’ve used flavored black tea with mango pulp & chucks of strawberry to curate the drink, it was truly refreshing with very very minimal sugar. The spicy chicken crepe was great too, the flavors were on point albeit would have loved more stuffing in the crepe. Staffs are quite friendly and welcoming feedbacks. Very cozy little outlet. Definitely my go to spot every-time I need some me time. Prices are slightly on the higher side plus the VAT and tax is heavy on the bill

I had the chance to visit T Lounge in Colombo and it was a truly unique experience. The variety of teas they offer is astonishing and each one feels carefully crafted. The tea experience itself was superb and the ambiance of the place makes it even more enjoyable. The service was a little slow start but picked up later . The food was also very good and paired well with the tea. The place itself is an experience and I’m glad I found this place . Plenty of variety to try their tea and I’d surely come back Overall, T Lounge is a wonderful spot to enjoy a relaxed tea experience. Seafood restaurant
Located in the vicinity of Barracuda, The Station Restaurant & Bar is known for its delectable hot butter cuttlefish. Among the array of dishes offered, the highlight is undoubtedly the HBC (Rs. 600). This rendition has gained recognition as one of the top 5 HBC versions, featuring a crispy golden fried batter with a well-balanced seasoning and spice, complemented by perfectly cooked cuttlefish that appeals to local tastes.
Station is a place that has never disappointed me, except for the occasional times it’s completely houseful. The menu is solid, the food is tasty, and the atmosphere is unmatched. It’s honestly one of the best spots in Colombo to enjoy a beer with the sea breeze, feet in the sand, and a perfect view of the sunset.
Prabath P — Google review
Had a good time. Has a good view of the sea and a chill vibe with soft music on the day i went there. The food was not bad - The seafood chopsuey didn’t have enough salt. The chicken + cashews were good though! Great service from the staff.
Yohan P — Google review
I have never had the same experience at any other restaurant as I did at the Station Restaurant. The service they provided was so poor. I was very disappointed.😑😑 The seafood they served us was so dry that it was inedible🦀. The french fries they gave us were so burnt that they were inedible. 🍟 When we asked the reason, they said it was the nature of this food.🙄🤷 Likewise, the chicken bite they gave us could not be used as a snack at all. It was better eaten with something like rice or bread. They charged us over 23,000 rupees for such poor food and service. However, after we argued with them, they reduced the bill to 15,000 rupees. This restaurant fails to provide value for money and satisfy customers. * No parking 🅿️ * Toilet facilities are available 🚽 * BYOB 🍾🍺 * Smoking is allowed 🚬 * Food is available for dining and takeaway
Asiri K — Google review
Visited here with my friends for a birthday treat. The time we visited here almost dark and sea view is pitch back so couldn't enjoy the sunset. There is a train train track to cross to reach the restaurant. So better pay attention on the passing trains. Usually there will be a security officer who guide us when we coming to the resturant to cross the track. Food is tasty and prices are bit high. Yes there is a waiting time after placing the order. Staffs are helpful and kind. Street parking is there but it seems bit unsecured. Most of the time there is security guard still i feel leaving our vehicle unattended on main road is not safe.
Irshad J — Google review
I am very disappointed in your restaurant. It took hours to complete my order because your menu is not updated. You sent water-based potions in a paper box that leaked almost everything. Don’t you have the common sense to include a lunch sheet in your packaging? Additionally, I only received 10 pieces of cuttlefish for the large portion, which feels very cheap. If you want to be this cheap, perhaps you should reconsider being in business. Overall, I am really disappointed. Do not ever buy from this place
Dilakshan C — Google review
We wanted to try a new restaurant and came here for a change. Very disappointed about the service. Can’t communicate properly. Made us ask 3 times to finally get our drinks. Once drinks arrived, the glass was broken. We asked for a new drink, since we didn’t know whether the glass piece was inside the drink. They pored the old drink in a new glass. Came with wrong food and tried to convince us that we ordered that food. Positive note: Nasi goreng was alright taste wise. We won’t come back here any time soon. Was not worth the 1900LKR service charge.

The Station Restaurant & Bar – A Beachside Spot with a Great Vibe but Mixed Experiences The Station Restaurant & Bar is one of the most well-known beachside hangouts along the Mount Lavinia coastline — and for good reason. It’s got a fantastic atmosphere, great music, and a lively beach crowd that creates the perfect setting for a night out with friends. Whether you’re visiting for drinks, casual dining, or just to unwind by the ocean, this place definitely delivers on ambiance. The restaurant offers open-air seating with ocean views, a gentle sea breeze, and upbeat tunes that give you that relaxed tropical vibe. The bar menu is impressive, featuring cocktails, mocktails, and local favorites that are both refreshing and well-priced. The staff are generally friendly, attentive, and quick to serve, which enhances the overall experience. The food quality, however, tends to be inconsistent. On some visits, dishes like the seafood platter, grilled prawns, and devilled chicken come out perfectly cooked and flavorful. On other occasions, meals have been under-seasoned or arrived lukewarm. A few customers have also mentioned long waiting times, especially during peak hours, as well as packaging issues with takeaway orders. It’s worth noting that The Station allows BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle), which is a major plus for group outings and celebrations. The live music sessions, especially on weekends, add to the vibrant, beach-party vibe that keeps people coming back despite occasional service hiccups. What’s Great: 🌊 Beautiful beachside location with relaxing ocean views 🎶 Great music and lively evening atmosphere 🍹 Nice range of cocktails and beverages 🍽️ Varied menu with local and international dishes 💬 Friendly and accommodating staff 🍾 BYOB-friendly (bring your own liquor) What Could Be Improved: 🕒 Slow service during busy hours 🍤 Inconsistent food quality (especially seafood dishes) 📦 Poor packaging for delivery or takeaway orders 💧 Some items lack flavor or freshness Despite the mixed reviews, The Station Restaurant & Bar remains a popular spot for friends’ hangouts, casual dates, and weekend nights out. The energy, music, and setting are unmatched in the area — it’s more about the experience than the meal itself. If you’re looking for a fun, beachy restaurant-bar in Mount Lavinia, this is a great place to relax and enjoy the ocean breeze — just keep your expectations balanced when it comes to food consistency. ⭐ Overall Rating: 3.8/5 ✅ Best for: Chill evenings, drinks by the beach, and live music nights ❌ Not ideal for: Quick meals or fine dining

Avoid This Restaurant – A Complete Waste of Money Our visit to this restaurant was an extremely disappointing experience. I went with my family for dinner and we ordered the mixed grill, mixed seafood, and grilled chicken. Unfortunately, none of the dishes were worth the high prices they charged. The portion sizes were shockingly small. The grilled chicken looked more like a kids’ meal, yet we were charged full price. The mixed grill and seafood were even worse – the meat was burnt, and all we got were small, overcooked pieces served with basic French fries. I couldn’t believe they charged more than 13000 LKR for such poorly prepared food. The mixed seafood dish was bland and lacked even basic seasoning like salt. It was completely tasteless. When we raised our concerns with the staff, they didn’t take them seriously and showed no intention of making things right. It felt like they were used to receiving complaints and just didn’t care. To make matters worse, the washrooms were filthy and poorly maintained, with broken doors – absolutely unacceptable for any restaurant. Despite showing them the burnt food and expressing our dissatisfaction, we were still charged the full amount. There was no apology or effort to resolve the issue. I honestly don’t know how this place is still in business given the poor quality of food, lack of hygiene, and terrible customer service. Please do not waste your time or your hard-earned money here. Extremely disappointed – I will never recommend this place to anyone.

We recently purchased two beautiful rings from Vogue Jewellers, and we had an exceptional experience. Shashikala, the salesperson, and her assistant Piyumini were incredibly helpful and professional throughout the entire process. They were welcoming, patient, and took the time to help us find exactly what my wife was looking for. We were also impressed with the great discounts they offered, making the purchase even more satisfying. The fact that they provide a lifetime guarantee for gold gives us added peace of mind and speaks volumes about the quality and trustworthiness of their products. Overall, we are very happy with both the service and the jewellery. Highly recommend Vogue Jewellers and especially the amazing team!

Additionally, Odel features fast food joints and midrange restaurants on the premises. Visitors can find original brands like USPA and Jack & Jones at Odel.
5 stars because Janitha who served us was excellent. Understood what my partner was looking for, gave many suggestions and recommendations and patiently found us the right sizes etc.

Disappointed with the Staff at Odel Alexandra Place Our experience at Odel Alexandra Place has been terrible once again. The staff are extremely rude and unfriendly, making us feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. Instead of assisting customers properly, they follow us around as if we are shoplifting, which is completely unprofessional. This is the third time we’ve had to deal with this, and it’s frustrating. What’s even more disappointing is that the smaller outlets have much friendlier and more professional staff. If they can provide good service, why can’t this location? We expect a much better shopping experience from a store of this standard. Hope management takes this issue seriously and improves staff behavior.

Odel is kind of a tourist destination for shopping as you may see a lot of foreigners shopping here. The place is crowded during the weekends. They have a wide collection of clothes, footwear, accessories and food. The quality of clothes are good. The price is a bit on the higher side. They have deals going on sometimes, like buy 1 get 1 or buy 2 get 1. They have a good spread of perfumes. They also have a Spa ceylon outlet. The kids section is on the first floor. They have a good variety of kids clothing and toys. Theres ample reserved car parking space available.

I have been here on many occasions. Quality of the products is undeniable, staff is also friendly and supportive. Prices are truly expensive compared to other places in Colombo. However I love to wear "Luv SL" T-shirts which are made for both parties(men and women). Those are prized at a reasonable cost. I have some of them which I have been using since 2010. That is good enough to tell about the quality, Overall good service!!!

The mall also offers entertainment options such as the first IMAX cinema in Sri Lanka, a six-theater multiplex, a gaming arcade, and an adventure zone for kids. Shoppers can indulge in high-end brands and department stores offering an extensive range of products.
Havelock City Mall is a fantastic addition to Colombo's shopping scene! The food court is a highlight, offering a wide selection of global and local dishes. I especially enjoyed the unique flavors at Colombo Steak House-perfect for steak lovers seeking something different. The mall is family- friendly, with a kids' play area, gaming, and the impressive Scope Cinemas Multiplex for movie fans. Some outlets could use better signage, but overall, the atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Highly recommended for a day out with family and friends

Havelock City Mall is truly a one-stop destination for shopping, dining, and leisure. Whether you’re out for some serious retail therapy or just a relaxing day out, this place checks all the boxes. 🔸 Shopping Experience The mall features a vast selection of shopping outlets that cater to every need — from global fashion brands and local boutiques to electronics, lifestyle stores, and beauty essentials. It’s well laid out, clean, and spacious, making it easy to browse without feeling crowded. The Food Studio alone is worth the visit — and paired with the mall’s stylish, modern design, it makes for a fantastic outing.

I visited Havelock City Mall in Colombo during my trip to Sri Lanka, mainly because I wanted to try Popeyes, and we also thought of doing a bit of shopping. The mall was huge!! It is spread across four floors.. and had so many stores on each level. Some of the brands I remember seeing were Jockey, Adidas, Odel, Cool Planet, Miniso, and even Kate Spade. The entire fourth floor was dedicated to food and restaurants, which I loved. They had all the big names like Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Popeyes, along with a few other local restaurants that looked really good. A special mention to their washrooms — they were so, so clean, which honestly made such a difference while shopping for hours. The mall also has ample parking space, and it’s really easy for cabs to locate the mall and drop you off or pick you up right at the entrance, which makes the visit super convenient. The vibes of the mall were absolutely amazing — clean, spacious, and lively. Coincidentally, the day we visited happened to be the mall’s second anniversary, and there was a lovely performance happening in the center atrium on the ground floor, which made the visit feel even more special. Really enjoyed spending time here as a tourist. Thank you, Sri Lanka, for such a beautiful experience! 🇱🇰

I visited on a tuesday evening to watch a movie. The entrance area is huge and staffed very well to avoid vehicle build up. There is a security scan check at the entrance, but they don't seem to worry about the security much. The cinema and food court is at the 4th level. most of the major fast food chains are available. The cinema is good as well. Overall the atmosphere is great inside.
Bhanuka S — Google review
A beautiful mall with a luxury feel. Parking is convenient and the interior design is impressive. Modern, clean, and full of great shops! The food court has a nice variety too. Easily one of the best malls in Colombo. Excellent shopping experience.

I visited the mall and its food court recently. I can highly recommend this place for families to spend leisure time with their children. There are dedicated play areas for kids, and even the food court includes a play zone. However, unlike in some other food courts, this play area is not free, you have to pay LKR 500 for one hour, and after that, they ask you to exit.. If your child wants play more you have to pay another LKR 500. The food court offers a good variety of options, and the shopping experience at the mall itself is excellent, with plenty of stores to explore.

Pettah Market, located in Colombo, is a vibrant and bustling marketplace that has stood the test of time through various historical periods. The market is a melting pot of different ethnicities, with vendors selling an array of goods such as fruits, vegetables, fashion accessories, traditional clothes like saris and salwars, gold jewelry on Sea Street, and delectable Indian sweets at Chennai Cafe on China Street.
I was able to buy a ton of goods at cheap prices at Pettah Market yesterday. The market spans across around 4KM down many different roads with each containing around 1000 small shops with a variety of products. They literally have everything sold across Sri Lanka at this market. It’s always crowded at the Pettah Market so I recommend parking your vehicle elsewhere and exploring the market on foot. Be vary of shop owners quoting higher prices if you are a tourist so it’s best if you do a background check before buying anything. Overall it’s a unique experience for anyone traveling around Sri Lanka.

Good Place to buy a variety of items. A typical supermarket but with a jewellery store, electronic store, furniture store, rubber items, food court etc. They also have toilets which are OK - clean but very shabby. Parking is available in abundance.

Little constructive criticism. Newly introduced Fried Chicken bucket project is quite good. But every time we bought, they are not fully fried or not fully done. Inside near the bones are rare or bit row. Chicken should reach inside temperature min. 165°F to take them out from the fryer. Pl take into account this matter. Offering 2 kinds of sauces with fried chicken is quite good.

Huge Hypermarket. Goods sold at reasonable prices. Huge selection of goods. It actually takes you time to go thru the entire range of products across several aisles. Staff do not seem to know much re ... the products at the store. No sheltered pick up / drop off point in case of heavy rain. Today we had to walk in the rain to our transport that was atleast 100 feet away. The staff at the pharmacy do not seem knowledgeable.

The cafe inside is a good place to kill time. I came to Arpico Crust Cafe as I was waiting for my friend. Bought myself a chicken hotdog and an iced coffee. The bun of the hotdog is too dry and tasteless. Hotdog itself is quite bland. And the sauce. Arpico sauce. Like the sound of it even not very appealing. Arpico goes for me with rubber floor mats better than tomato sauce. Anyway it’s not all bad, the store has usual supermarket stuff. So overall it’s a good place to kill time which also air conditioned.

However, my experience took a turn for the better, thanks to Mr. Manazir. Noticing my disappointment, Mr. Manazir approached me and offered to help. He went above and beyond to locate my size and the exact color I was looking for. His dedication, patience, and willingness to assist truly stood out and turned my shopping experience into a positive one. A big thank you to Mr. Manazir for his exceptional service! Staff aren’t trained for proper queue manners. A sales assistant jumped with a customer with a loaded bag (not sure whether known one or not) and made the cashier to serve him who was far behind the in the queue. Waited customers were ignored. The Cargills Food Court at Colombo City Centre offers a wide variety of delicious food at affordable prices. The fried rice is a bit oily but still very tasty. It's one of the best places for dining in, with a clean and pleasant atmosphere. You can enjoy a range of dishes including pasta, noodles, fried rice, and a selection of beverages.

Cargills Food Hall has potential, but in reality, it looks much better in photos than it feels in person. You can find a fair amount of groceries here—enough for basics and a few specialty items—but the space has definitely seen better days. It’s on the smaller side and could really shine with a bit of upkeep and better organization. Right now, it feels a little tired. That said, it's still a convenient stop if you're already in the mall and need to grab a few things quickly. Overall, it gets the job done, but don’t expect anything fancy.

This is the only Cargills outlet I’ve seen that’s maintained in this quality. I wonder why the management cannot maintain other outlets similar to this. Easy access from the car park. Well arranged and spacious. You can find pretty much all the groceries you need. Quality of the vegetables is good too compared to other outlets. Friendly and helpful staff. Got a pharmacy and a small scale food outlet too, where you can dine-in or takeaway.

This well-stocked mass market isn't a typical food City that we gotta see...The food hall at the lower ground of CCC looks extra chic with many eateries , Juice / Sushi bars and other usual products... They've also intoduced a 'flower section' which I haven't noticed in any other Cmb supermarkets...The range of products are simply awesome... Thumbs up !! It was really a great and a trendy shopping experience
Abdullah A — Google review
I had a terrible experience at the Colombo City Center Cargills food court. The staff were the worst I've encountered. They seemed completely uninterested in serving customers, more focused on their own conversations than taking orders. When I tried to get their attention, they ignored me and continued chatting. It was clear they favored their friends, giving them priority over regular customers. To make matters worse, I saw one of the male staff members eating while preparing food. This is not only unprofessional but also unhygienic. Despite the fact that the food court was nearly empty with only one other customer, it took an unreasonable amount of time to get my order. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I won't be returning.

Situated in the basement of Colombo City Centre, this place combined features of a supermarket and a food court. What a wonderful takeaway from Sri Lanka! Zam Gem offers genuine and special gems. I got an amazing garnet from their airport branch. The service was exceptional, and the staff were incredibly helpful, especially Huzam Mohamed. Highly recommended!

My mother and I visited the Zam Gems store in Cinnamon Grand, where we were staying. We ended up buying three beautiful pendants in different stones - two were ready-made, and one was made for us. The selection of gems available is varied and stunning. We were assisted by Sadhook and his colleagues, who were extremely helpful. As well as being knowledgeable about the stones, they were very honest and reasonable with us, e.g. we suggested setting a lemon quartz stone in gold, which they advised against because it is a cheaper stone that doesn't justify the expense of a gold setting. We really appreciated their sincerity and professionalism, and felt that we could trust them. They were very accommodating to us and we never felt under pressure to make a purchase despite them spending time showing us various options. The pendant that we got made was done within 72hrs (the order was placed on Friday evening, we received the pendant around Monday lunchtime). They also accommodated a small change to our choice of metal during that time. It was made to an extremely high standard that surpassed our expectations, and we were very pleased. I would definitely recommend Zam Gems, and Sadhook and his colleagues.

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Ministry of Crab, founded by Sri Lankan cricketing legends Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara along with culinary expert Dharshan Munidase, is a seafood haven that pays homage to the country's delectable crabs. The restaurant, which opened in 2012 in a restored old hospital building, has quickly become a favorite among locals and tourists.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an incredible experience at Ministry of Crab! From the moment I arrived, the hospitality stood out. A huge shoutout to Anoja at the front desk who went above and beyond to squeeze me in even though the restaurant was full — her warm welcome and effort to make it happen set the tone for a memorable evening. The service throughout was excellent, especially from Madin, who was not only attentive but also genuinely friendly and kind, making me feel completely at ease. And of course, the food… absolutely outstanding! The crab and prawns were perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and lived up to every bit of the hype. The quality of ingredients and the way each dish was prepared really shows why Ministry of Crab is world-renowned. Overall, a perfect combination of amazing food, top-class service, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommend — and I’ll definitely be back!

We had dinner at Ministry of Crab last night as a couple with our 10-year-old, and it was a fantastic experience overall! The atmosphere was vibrant yet cozy — perfect for a family evening out. We tried the clay pot prawn curry with rice, and it was absolutely delicious. The prawns were fresh and perfectly cooked, but the real star was the rich, coconut-based gravy — bursting with flavor! We also had passion fruit juice, which was refreshing, though a bit on the sour side for our taste. Overall, a memorable dining experience with great food, friendly service, and a lovely ambiance. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Colombo Fort! 🍤🥥🇱🇰
Shaon S — Google review
This amazing restaurant lived up to all the hype. From when you arrive you are treated with a first class experience. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, and know the menu off by heart. The food is sensational. The prawns and crabs are delicious. My tip, don’t go for the heavily spiced or strongly flavoured sauces, and let the crab do the talking! Sitting in a 400 yo building, surrounded by history and eating top quality food is well worth the pricing! Enjoy!
Jacqui B — Google review
We had high expectations for our visit to Ministry of Crab given its strong reputation and premium pricing. While the service was attentive and courteous, and the atmosphere warm and inviting, the overall dining experience fell short of what we had hoped for. The evening began well, with friendly staff ensuring we were comfortable and well looked after. The crab avocado salad, however, was unexpectedly bitter, which took away from what could have been a refreshing start. The crab pâté was smooth and nicely seasoned, and the prawn curry offered a pleasant blend of spice and creaminess. However, the bread served alongside the prawn curry was a let-down, lacking freshness and texture, which made the dish feel incomplete. Unfortunately, the main highlight of the menu - the crab - proved to be the biggest disappointment. It was heavily peppered to the point where the natural sweetness of the crab was completely overpowered. Given the restaurant’s signature focus on this dish, it was disheartening that it didn’t live up to expectations. To finish, the coconut crumble was the clear highlight of the meal. Light, fragrant, and beautifully balanced, it was a delightful ending to an otherwise uneven dining experience. Overall, while the setting and service were of a high standard, the food did not quite justify the price. We left wishing the flavours had been more balanced and that the signature crab had showcased the quality and finesse that Ministry of Crab is known for.
Kelvin L — Google review
Ministry of Crab in Colombo is a must-visit if you love seafood, especially crab. The place has a warm, stylish vibe inside a beautiful old colonial building. The star of the menu is definitely the Sri Lankan lagoon crab—fresh, meaty, and cooked just the way you like it, whether it’s spicy pepper, garlic chili, or buttery goodness. The staff are super helpful and friendly, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but totally worth it for a special night out. If you're in Colombo, treat yourself—you won’t regret it!

We had such a wonderful dining experience at the Ministry of Crab! Before going, we were a little bit skeptical and worried it might just be another tourist trap, but we were pleasantly surprised. The service was outstanding—attentive to every details, anticipating our needs before we even asked, and offering helpful guidance on how to order. We tried only two dishes, the claypot curry and the chili garlic crab, but they were absolutely addictive. The sauces were so good that we couldn’t resist overindulging, especially with all the bread. In short, we really enjoyed our dinner and definitely worth a try when you are in town!
HH H — Google review
What a great dining experience at the Ministry of Crab. On arrival service and welcome by Dilanka was warm and welcoming. He explained the menu and guided us through our choices and sizes. The prompt ongoing service for drinks and wipes and extra touches to make our meal memorable were attended to. The entrees of prawns, clams, oysters were each amazing in presentation and flavour. We had three varieties of crab for our main as a group and each were different and delicious. The fleshy crabs were the best I have ever eaten and the body of flavour in the sauces were rich and delicious. The Sri Lankan bread and rice helped us enjoy the sauces and flavours. It was a beautiful meal experience. We rounded off with perfect macchiato coffees. If your budget can stretch this far, I highly recommend a meal here. Just remember to book as our lunch sitting was fully booked out.

Absolutely incredible experience at Ministry of Crab! The food was outstanding – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We had the signature garlic chili crab and it was hands down one of the best seafood dishes I've ever had. Also, the prawn curry was superb with bread. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming. Tip: If you're planning to go for dinner, make sure to book in advance. It gets busy quickly and walk-ins are rarely available during peak hours. Totally worth the hype – a must-visit if you're in Colombo!

The National Museum of Colombo is one of Sri Lanka’s most remarkable cultural treasures. Located in the heart of Colombo, this grand white colonial-era building, established in 1877 by Sir William Henry Gregory, offers visitors a deep insight into the island’s rich history and heritage. From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by centuries of fascinating artifacts — from ancient royal regalia and stone inscriptions to exquisite carvings and traditional art. One of the highlights is the regal throne and crown of the last King of Kandy, symbolizing Sri Lanka’s royal past. The museum also showcases prehistoric fossils, ancient coins, weapons, and an impressive collection of Buddhist statues, which reflect the island’s deep spiritual and artistic traditions. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, with clear explanations in both English and Sinhala, making it easy to follow Sri Lanka’s story through the ages. The museum’s surrounding gardens and peaceful atmosphere provide a perfect escape from the city’s bustle, adding to the overall experience. Whether you’re a local visitor or an international tourist, the National Museum of Colombo is a must-visit destination to truly understand Sri Lanka’s diverse cultural identity and its journey through time. The Colombo National Museum is the largest and most important museum in Sri Lanka. It’s a great place to learn about the country’s history, culture, kings, and ancient kingdoms. The building itself is beautiful, with a classic white colonial design and peaceful garden outside. What You Can See Inside ; • Royal treasures from the Kandyan Kingdom, including the crown and throne of the last king. • Ancient statues of Buddha and Hindu gods from Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, and other old cities. • Old weapons, masks, coins, and traditional tools that show how people lived long ago. • Paintings and carvings that tell stories from Sri Lanka’s past. Experience ; The museum is very calm and quiet. It takes about 1–2 hours to walk through slowly. The displays are well-organized, and most items have English descriptions. Good for ; Anyone who wants to understand Sri Lanka’s culture and history, including students, tourists, and locals. Tips ; • Go in the morning to avoid crowds. • Photography is allowed in some areas but not everywhere. • There is a separate ticket for the Natural History Museum next door.

They have a good zoological and botanical section which they'll exhibit for Universitites and Schools only on request. They have a small, well equipped auditorium for events as well. The director is a very polite and understanding officer. The museum doesn't display all the cultures and traditions celebrated in Srilanka as most of the treasures have been stolen during the colonial period.

Major Railway station in Colombo. You could easily get train to any part of the country from here. Old station with lots of history. The station is colonial era architecture and well maintained. You could visited anytime. To get train to Kandy, Galle or other cities you need to take the train from here.

Pettah Railway Station is more than just a train stop it’s a living, breathing slice of Sri Lankan life that offers foreign travelers an authentic cultural experience right from the moment you arrive. Located at the edge of the bustling Pettah Market, this station is a gateway to exploration, connecting you to major cities like Kandy, Galle, and Jaffna. While not the largest station, it’s rich in local character, with the constant hum of commuters, the calls of vendors, and the rhythmic sounds of trains pulling in and out it’s like stepping into a scene from a travel documentary. Don’t expect ultra-modern facilities here, but that’s part of its charm. The station is simple yet functional, and if you’re an adventurous traveler, you’ll enjoy observing the local rhythms of everyday life. From tuktuks buzzing nearby to street food vendors selling spicy snacks, this place captures the real energy of Colombo. There’s basic signage in English, but it’s always good to ask locals for help they’re often warm and willing. Trains may not always run on time, so patience and flexibility will go a long way. That said, the views on the train journeys especially the coastal line towards Galle are absolutely breathtaking and worth every minute. Pro Tips for Foreign Travelers: • Buy your tickets early and keep small cash ready. • Keep an eye on your belongings; it’s busy and fast-paced. • Embrace the organized chaos, it’s all part of the adventure! Whether you’re a backpacker, photographer, or culture enthusiast, Pettah Railway Station is a great starting point to dive deep into Sri Lanka’s soul.

Fort Railway Station is the central hub of Sri Lanka’s railway network, located in the heart of Colombo. With its colonial-era architecture and busy platforms, the station reflects both historic charm and the pulse of daily urban life. It offers connections to major towns across the country, including Kandy, Galle, Jaffna, Anuradhapura, and Batticaloa. Trains run on a fixed schedule, but delays are common, especially during peak hours or bad weather. The station is scenic in its own way, especially with early morning or evening train views. However, it can be overcrowded, and facilities are basic. Disadvantages: Long queues, occasional cancellations without notice, and limited cleanliness. Scams to watch for: Be cautious of unofficial porters asking for high tips, fake “guides” offering help, or people selling overpriced tickets outside the counters. Despite its flaws, Fort Station remains a vital and historic part of Sri Lanka’s transport system.
Sivatheesan K — Google review
As the epicentre of Sri Lanka's railway network, Colombo Fort Railway Station serves millions of commuters and tourists, who move to and out of Colombo. Built by the British in the early 20th Century, its architecture shares many similarities with railway stations in contemporary Britain. Colombo Fort is the terminus of most intercity trains, and every train that passes Colombo Fort stops there. Seat reservation facilities are provided at the Reservations Office. Food and beverages are also available at the canteen, and can also be purchased from hawkers, and vendors who have put up stalls near the entrance.

🏛️ Colombo Fort Railway Station is the main hub of Sri Lanka’s railway network — a must-visit spot for travelers exploring the island! 🇱🇰 🚉 Location: Right in the heart of Colombo, close to Pettah Market and bus stands — super convenient for connections. 🕰️ Vibe: Busy, historic, and full of local energy. The architecture has an old colonial charm that makes you feel the island’s history. 🎫 Tips for Travelers: Go early if you’re buying long-distance tickets (like Kandy, Galle, or Jaffna). 🎟️ Keep an eye on your bags — the station is crowded at times. 🎒 There are small food stalls nearby for snacks & tea. ☕🍩 Trains are often delayed a little, so be patient and enjoy the local experience. 🕐 🚄 Overall: A historic and lively place to start your Sri Lankan railway adventure! Great experience if you love local culture and travel vibes. 🌅✨
Zamith S — Google review
Having traveled through Fort Railway Station more than 10 times, I've gotten to know it well as the primary artery for train travel in Sri Lanka. It's an essential and bustling hub that connects the entire country, and while it has its quirks, it's a reliable starting point for any journey. The first thing you notice is its sheer scale. As a huge railway station with 10 platforms, there is a constant flow of people and the distinct energy of a major transport terminus. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but the signage is generally clear enough to find your platform. Its main strength is its comprehensive network. This is truly the gateway to Sri Lanka. From here, you can catch trains to virtually every corner of the island—whether you're heading for the scenic tea plantations in Badulla, traveling to the eastern coast of Batticaloa, exploring the historic north in Jaffna, or relaxing on the southern beaches of Galle. A significant advantage for travelers is the canteen located right inside the station. This is incredibly convenient, especially if you're rushing for a train or setting off on a long journey. You can easily buy snacks, drinks, or a full meal at an affordable price, which removes the stress of having to find food outside the station. The only minor drawback is the mobile network connectivity. As you move deeper into the station, you'll notice the signal isn't as strong as it is outside. It's not a complete dead zone—you can still send messages or make a quick call—but it's not ideal for heavy data use. However, considering the overall convenience and importance of the station, this is a very small issue. In conclusion, Fort Railway Station is a functional and vital piece of Sri Lanka's travel infrastructure. Its extensive destinations and practical amenities like the canteen make it an indispensable hub for both locals and tourists.
Gnanavel N — Google review
The station is pretty big and being a central transfer station, it can get crowded. Some ticket counters only issue tickets to certain destinations and you need to know the final stop of the train to know which ticket counter to buy your tickets from. Unless you use Google maps or know the train lines, this can be a challenge. The easier option is to use the online ticketing system which eliminates having to go through with it. The digital signage showing the train times and platforms are accurate and super helpful but again don’t name the individual stops on a line. Boarding the train is a free for all and like many places in Srilanka, there is no concept of forming a line. We were traveling with three kids under 11 and people would still try to cut in front of us to get on the train.

I bought a beautiful blue dress from Cotton Collection for my birthday, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. When I wore it once, the dress kept slipping from the arm and chest areas, which was embarrassing, as everyone noticed. I traveled from a far distance, Sri Lanka, to Cotton Collection in Colombo, spending a lot on transport, only for them to reject my return. Despite not wearing makeup, the staff insisted there were 'makeup stains' and refused to take the dress back. Frustrated, I decided to keep it, but when I washed it just once, without detergent, the dye started to bleed heavily. I spent over 10,000 rupees on this dress, and the quality doesn’t match the price at all. I've been a loyal Cotton Collection customer, but after this experience, I’ll never buy from them again. It’s extremely unfair to spend so much on something that doesn’t meet basic quality standards. I’ve attached a photo as proof. Very disappointed 😞

There is parking available. The store looks very cozy and welcoming. They have clothing for men and women but not a lot of options. It is a bit pricy from other stores and there's not a lot of range in sizes for their apparel. There's also a very few modest clothing to choose from but they do have a good collection. Good customer service and quality but definitely not a store that meets everyone's requirements or expectations.

Mayura Hotel is a small restaurant located in Pettah, the largest market in Colombo. Despite its name, it's not actually a hotel but rather a cozy eatery known for serving some of the best crab curry in the city. The establishment offers Jaffna-style preparation of tiny crabs served with rice, curry, and vegetables on a banana leaf. While it may not be fancy, Mayura Hotel is renowned for its delicious Tamil-style cuisine and friendly service.
Mayura Hotel serves only lunch and dinner, closing after 3 PM and reopening for dinner. Offers authentic Jaffna-style food with a variety of non-veg options, including chicken, mutton, cuttlefish, prawns, and crabs. You can choose between white or red rice, and it's served unlimited. The omelet is a must-try—one of the best! Those dining in are served on a banana leaf. The service is friendly and quick, despite the heavy crowd. Although the prices are relatively high, the quality and taste make it worth it. Located in a busy area, finding parking can be challenging, but the wait is worthwhile. Takeaway is available.

One of the best budget friendly hotels in Colombo. The omelette was very good and it cost for a omelette food is 450. From this you can get unlimited rice and curry. This was too busy and the opening time is only 11.30 to 3.30. Must try dishes are crab and cuttle fish.

Mayura Hotel offers a basic dining experience with average food quality. During the visit, service was quite slow, and the staff seemed a bit inattentive. The place has a simple setup, but nothing too special in terms of ambiance. What stood out the most was the price — it’s quite expensive compared to the quality and portion size. Overall, it’s okay for a quick stop, but not really value for money.
Venu N — Google review
Rice and curry were really good, did not taste artificial at all. Prices are higher than usual rice and curry rates. You can ask them for more rice and more curries if you feel like you can eat more. The meat option is served separately. You’ll have to park in a safe place and get here since the road is narrow and there is no designated parking.
Yasesa G — Google review
Your OG Jaffna style rice and curry joint. The food is just amazing. The portions are amazing for the price you pay. They lay a banana leaf on the table and serve you rice and veges and then you can choose a meat dish from omelet to crab curry. My favorite is the prawns or the mutton, just amazing.. parking can be a real nightmare though. But all the effort is absolutely worth it coz the food is so good. By the way, you get unlimited rice and two types of veges for a normal meal so if your meat runs out, you can order another portion of meat.

When travelers from outside of Srilanka comes, will be an interesting experience. However for locals this will be an expensive place to eat. The crab curry is really good but the mutton was very chewy. The rice, lentil and carrot dish was tasty. We came as a couple and ordered the crab curry and the rice and carrot and the lentil. Was plenty.

The gallery hosts regular exhibitions featuring both local and foreign artists' works along with photography displays. Additionally, visitors can enjoy concerts and movies at this vibrant cultural hub.
A Hidden Gem in the City Barefoot Gallery is a delightful hidden gem that I highly recommend! Each visit is a joy as I explore the captivating exhibitions on display. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, making it a perfect place to appreciate art. The location is very convenient, which is a huge bonus. Plus, the Barefoot Cafe right next to the gallery is fantastic for grabbing a bite or a refreshing drink after your visit. Overall, it’s a must-visit spot for art lovers and anyone seeking a peaceful and enjoyable experience in the city!

Visited the restaurant and the shop. Its an oasis of aesthetic art, good food and knick knacks for the tourist. Staff is very helpful and the home made ginger beer is absolutely awesome.
Aditya K — Google review
We love this place! Everything about it! We had lunch here and the food was fabulous, the service was fabulous, and the ambience was fabulous! And then there’s the bookstore… And then there’s the clothing store… And then there’s the gift shop… And then there’s the gallery… There is absolutely something for everyone here. This is a wonderful business to support.
