Shopping mall
Markthal is a modern complex located in the center of Rotterdam, featuring an indoor food market and various dining options nestled under an arch of apartments. The building's striking architecture includes giant glass walls and mirrored panels that beautifully reflect the Dutch light. It is renowned as the largest indoor market hall in the Netherlands, boasting a vast array of cuisines from around the world. Visitors are advised to prepare for tempting aromas wafting through the air as they explore this culinary haven.
Such a good place to go for a quick meal! There are a lot of food stalls and there's even an Albert Heijn and a souvenir shop. There are food stalls with tables and chairs, but you can also just eat outside, since there are benches. The entire structure is so cool. The painted ceiling is awesome as well. Such a cool experience to go here!
Jianne B — Google review
The Markthal in Rotterdam is an absolute must-visit. The stunning arched building alone is worth seeing, with its colorful artwork covering the entire ceiling. Inside, you’ll find a huge variety of food stalls, restaurants, and specialty shops offering everything from local Dutch treats to international cuisine. It’s lively, full of delicious smells, and perfect for grabbing a bite or picking up unique ingredients. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality is generally very good. A great spot to experience Rotterdam’s vibrant food culture all in one place.
Laura — Google review
A magnetic combination of architecture, art, culture, and gastronomy. The soaring ceiling and vibrant artwork create a visual feast, while the market offers a wide range of fresh foods from different cultures. Serving as both a community hub and a tourist landmark, Markthal embodies Rotterdam’s creative, diverse, and bold spirit.
Chingón898 — Google review
Nice architecture for building but from inside it is just a food court offering various cuisines. The Indian cuisine stalls offering North Indian food are worth checking out. Outside are the popular cube houses of Rotterdam. Nice area worth exploring on a fine weekend evening. Overall, Rotterdam is a very modern city and popular for having Europe's largest shipping port.
Nirav P — Google review
An absolute must in Rotterdam! A wealth of dining options both in the hall itself and in the adjacent restaurants. The ceiling paintings make the place truly unique. Once refreshed, you can head out from this central location to the shopping area and many other sights.
Peter K — Google review
This was a stop on our tour. The building is cool. The roof is decorated on an amazing way. But it was packed with people. Mostly food vendors and not a lot of room to move or see anything. Cool for 10 minutes but unless you need something time to move on. Others might have a different feeling but we walked a quick loop and left.

Markthal We visited Markthal, also known as Market Hall, is a unique building popular for tourist destination offering a wide variety of culinary. We had our lunch and eating snack, enjoying food also explore the area, welcome atmosphere. Do take note it can be crowded. We had good experience here.
Muh F — Google review
Our first visit to this extraordinary building, colorful and looking into the ceiling, you see brightly colored paintings across. The ceiling is actually a whole load of high end apartments surrounding the market from top to bottom all round. Fascinating. The food sold at the market are mainly Dutch. The fresh pickled herring is freshly delicious, well worth a try. Cheeses, smoked meats, stroopwaffles and other local foods are available and if you were to pick up souveniors, this is the place! 5 magnets for €10!

Specialty Museums
The Maritime Museum in Rotterdam offers a fascinating glimpse into the city's maritime heritage. Visitors can explore vintage ships, historic port models, and interactive exhibits for kids. The museum showcases paintings of famous sea battles, collections of ships, and informative videos about naval history. It also features recreated boat interiors from different time periods, including karaoke rooms, casinos, and vintage bars. In addition to its permanent collections on shipbuilding and sea legends, the museum hosts temporary exhibits on various maritime topics.
Fantastic spot for families in Rotterdam! This isn’t your typical museum, it’s an interactive experience full of hands-on fun. The offshore platform is packed with engaging exhibits for both kids and adults, and the maritime history displays are really well done. Outside, you can even explore real historic ships. There’s also a cozy café and a gift shop with great souvenirs. Perfect mix of fun and learning – definitely worth more than a quick visit!
Jarosław ( — Google review
The museum is the oldest of its kind in the Netherlands and one of the most important maritime museums in Europe. Founded in 1874 on the initiative of Admiral Lodewijk Pincoffs, it explores navigation, shipbuilding, trade, port history, and life at sea. The museum is especially family-friendly, with many interactive exhibitions. Outside, the harbour in Leuvehaven lets visitors step aboard historic vessels, cranes, and even a lighthouse, bringing Rotterdam’s seafaring past vividly to life.
Seokjin H — Google review
Nice place for both parents & kids. Museum is interesting for adult, at the same time PLONS zone is very attractive to my kids. They spent several hours there while parents could have a cup of coffee in this place. Besides, they can enjoy small boat riding just in front of the museum.
Arisara C — Google review
It was ok. I feel like more old ships history and art can be placed there. The most fun part fpr me was the games but there was too many kids there and other people so it was impossible to play more than 2 games.
Yiqiang X — Google review
Lovely museum with lots of interesting and interactive displays, well worth the visit.
Jean-Francois D — Google review
Very nice museum, covers both the nautical history and the operations of the port. Watching a blacksmith at work is very impressive, and you might even end up with a souvenir!
Lena V — Google review
Great museum, especially the oil rig exhibition. Everything is in English, so perfect for tourists and appropriate for all ages, including little ones. There are picnic tables indoors to bring your own food. Museum is free entry if you purchase the Museum Card in advance.
Steven H — Google review
The Rotterdam Maritime Museum was decidedly okay. For the 19 euro ticket price I expected a bit more in terms of exhibitions which seemed heavily catered towards children. If you have kids this would be a great museum to take them to though, plenty of interactive exhibitions for them If you have a vague interest in maritime history like I did, it might be worth skipping this museum if you aren't so interested

The Kijk-Kubus Museum-house, located near Blaak station in Rotterdam, is a must-visit for architecture enthusiasts. This unique museum allows visitors to explore the iconic Cube Houses and learn about their history and design. The museum house is furnished with vintage decor from the 1970s, providing an immersive experience of living inside these architectural wonders. It features models, photos, and computers that explain architect Piet Blom's cube project.
The architecture is absolutely unique! So cool to see these houses in person. The color is so bright 🌞😎 and vibrant. Very close to Markthal so a quick walk and you're there. We highly recommend making this a stop on your Rotterdam bucket list.
Quietta J — Google review
My buddy told me about this cool landmark, I took a train from Amsterdam to get there. It was late when I arrived. I didn’t get to view inside the architecture, even though the surface was yellow, you could still clearly see that it was being built for decades. If you’re in the area, you should totally drop by. I solely walked around these innovative houses, had a meal and headed back.
Adrianne C — Google review
The Cube Houses are truly one of the most unique architectural sights I’ve ever visited. Walking through the area feels almost surreal—the tilted cubes, sharp angles, and bright yellow panels create a playful, futuristic atmosphere. The show house offers a fascinating look at how people actually live in these unconventional spaces, and the views from inside are surprisingly charming. Whether you’re into architecture or just love exploring memorable landmarks, the Cube Houses are absolutely worth a visit.
T H — Google review
Interesting architecture on the cubes way of design and living. Was it good to visit and paid euro3.50. first time experiencing to see how the laid out. For the cost was ok. But the whole tour takes less than 10 mins to finish all. So it is up to you to judge if the cost is worth to pay.
Koh Y — Google review
Beautiful place to go and take a few shots and vídeos, definitely worth the visit on the OUTSIDE, but to be completely honest, wouldn’t recommend anyone to pay 3,50 euros for 5 minute “tour” inside a cube, my group and I thought it was quite disappointing and I would have appreciated knowing this in advance 😅
Tiemi L — Google review
A definite must visit if coming to Rotterdam. The concept of people living in these unique structures is crazy and it is not too expensive to visit. Note that stairs are narrow so you need to be able to navigate these.
Vin C — Google review
I had a couple of hours layover in Rotterdam so went to check out the cube houses. They are truly uniquebabd it was interesting to see how the architect has integrated storage. Population density in the Netherlands is a constant discussion but once you visit this you realize why they never made any more. Beautiful from the outside, interesting conceptually but definitely ultimate a case of form over function.
Deborah H — Google review
An area I had wanted to see every since I heard of its existence in planning our walk through Rotterdam, this did not disappoint. We were pressed for time so we did not enter the museum/show house but did wander through and around marveling at the tilted cubes and how they intertwined to make patios, shops and of course the actual homes. If I ever return to Rotterdam, I am definitely going to put aside time to enter the interior and explore what they have done with all the slanted ceilings and walls.

Poffertjessalon Seth

Restaurant
Poffertjessalon Seth is a popular spot in the Netherlands known for serving up delicious poffertjes, small and fluffy pancakes that are a favorite snack at fairs and markets. These puffy little pancake pillows, about the size of a 50p piece, are traditionally served with melted butter and dusted with icing sugar. While they can be enjoyed all year round, they are especially delightful during Christmas and New Year.
I stopped by Poffertjessalon Seth in Rotterdam and got a small portion of Poffertjes for dessert recently. The original/classic with just butter and powdered sugar was recommended to me. I was decently surprised by the bite-sized sugary goodness given how simplistic it seems. Overall, I’d give it 8.8/10 as it’s good value and worth trying.
Andy L — Google review
Honestly, it’s my favorite place to get food in Rotterdam; authentic Dutch cuisine! 10/10 would recommend!
Andrew G — Google review
I’m a big fan of the poffertjes you usually get in the UK (at Xmas markets etc) but omg these were on another level! So light, fluffy and delicious. Customisable toppings and extremely well priced. The service was very quick and so lovely. I could resist coming here twice! Definitely somewhere worth checking out if you’re in the area.
Molly B — Google review
The poffertjes here are soo good. Made fresh and you can choose a variety of toppings. I love how they having a smoking and non-smoking section outside. That’s hard to find. So nice to be able to sit outside, enjoy our poffertjes, coffees and people watch.
Adrianna S — Google review
Amazing poffertjes and really friendly, efficient service. Visited twice in a 3 day trip. Consistently good and a perfect place take a coffee break if you’re nearby - or even not that nearby…
Mark A — Google review
Great place to try traditional Dutch snack! Helpful staff and quick service.
Paul W — Google review
The service was very good and fast. The coffee was not that good, it seemed to be from a machine. The location was on a pedestrian street with many people passing.
Κωστας Ζ — Google review
Oct 2025- We noticed a young chap take over the cooking station and it was as delicious as ever. We also ran out of butter and icing, and the female waitress gladly topped it up for us. Superb service and they have a basement toilet too. We sat outside this time and it was great. Oct 2024- we come here every year, it is probably the highest standard of mini Dutch pancakes / poffertjes in a city setting in all of Holland. The locals love the traditional icing sugar plus butter variant. It never goes wrong. Only qualm is that there are customers smoking while seated outdoors but their interior seats are to warm and detached to enjoy the street ambience. Maybe they can have a more dedicated or segregated smoker seating area. The ongoing construction works also cause the smokers smoke to trap within the narrow street. Also beware of the pushcart staff who clear tables. She is a bit raunchy and shouts if you get in her way.

Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the charming Oude Haven area of Rotterdam, Restaurant Fitzgerald is a culinary gem that beautifully marries contemporary flair with international influences. With a menu that evolves regularly, diners can expect innovative dishes paired with an impressive selection of wines. The restaurant's ambiance is enhanced by its stunning indigo blue decor and mid-century design elements, creating an inviting atmosphere for guests.
We had an exceptional dining experience at Fitzgerald, a Michelin-starred restaurant, during a special celebration. From the moment we arrived, the service, food, and ambiance exceeded our expectations. Despite some initial communication challenges regarding dietary restrictions during the booking process, the team handled our requests with care and professionalism. A quick phone call resolved everything, leaving us feeling welcomed and valued even before our visit. The service throughout the evening was impeccable. Liam, our server, was attentive and courteous, ensuring we were well looked after. Duco’s expert wine recommendations and his thoughtful explanations added a unique and memorable touch to the experience. The food was nothing short of extraordinary—each course was a perfect harmony of flavor, creativity, and presentation. It’s evident that great attention to detail and passion goes into every dish. The restaurant’s warm and refined atmosphere made it an ideal setting for our celebration. Fitzgerald truly lives up to its reputation, delivering a flawless culinary journey. We can’t wait to return and create more wonderful memories at this outstanding establishment. Highly recommended!
Globe V — Google review
I dined at Fitzgerald in Rotterdam for a special evening dinner and opted for the 7-course menu, adjusting the dessert to an à la carte option. Overall, I was quite impressed with the quality of the food. From the amuse-bouche to the dessert, the quality of the ingredients and the execution of all the dishes were excellent. However, while the dishes themselves were impressive, the service fell far short of the standards expected from a Michelin-starred restaurant. The service was particularly slow, from the delay in presenting the menu to the lack of attentiveness from the sommelier. The staff appeared overwhelmed and struggled to provide the level of attention and care that one anticipates in a fine dining establishment. Notably, this was on a Saturday evening when the restaurant had plenty of available tables, making the poor service even less justifiable. When I pointed out the slow service, I was met with the explanation that the restaurant was “busy”, an unconvincing excuse given the circumstances. Furthermore, no effort was made to adjust the situation, such as offering a complimentary glass of wine, an additional amuse-bouche/dessert, or even an apology from the chef. This lack of a response to a customer’s feedback exacerbated the disappointment. In summary, while the food was undeniably excellent, the substandard service is the main reason I would hesitate to return. It is particularly disappointing as Fitzgerald is a Michelin-starred restaurant, and such establishments are expected to deliver a seamless dining experience. This failure is all the more disheartening given the limited number of Michelin-starred options available in the Netherlands. P:S: should you have any dietary requirements, it is important to communicate these in advance to avoid any charges on the day.
Jordan D — Google review
The food and service is marvellous. Bas is very patient to reply to all my emails and tried his best to help fulfill an extra request for my reservation. Thank you for making my long-distance 1st anniv went as planned :)
Adelia S — Google review
I came here for my birthday, opting for the 7 course dinner and my partner selected our own bottle of wine. I think the restaurant deserve it's 1 star. Food was excellent, beautifully decorated, and the flavour profiles are varyingly amazing without being overwhelming. I normally hate desserts at restaurants. But Restaurant Fitzgerald refined the dessert in such a way that it was not too sweet, fresh, and easy to finish. My partner and I wiped every course and complimented each one too. Ambiance of the garden is also excellent. I really enjoyed the almost zen garden design composition that makes space cozy yet really chic. Service was impeccable without being suffocating. Food came with a bit of time on between, allowing us to enjoy the memory of every dish without feeling overwhelmed by flavour explosion. Our waiters were very professional and courteous yet easy and not too formal, we liked all of them very much. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and it was the perfect bday dinner 🥰
Dewi N — Google review
Amazed from start to finish. We had a 7-course with wine pairing. The wines were excellent. I loved the preparation and plating of every course. Impressed by the professional staff. I had such a nice dinner and evening in general. Will definitely be back

The service here is second to none. Bas especially stands out as someone who is both informed and competent in their work. The atmosphere is so comforting and soothing that you won't even notice the passage of time. The dishes are excellent. This is a spot that has my full endorsement. The whole thing has been great and much beyond any of my expectations.
Alvin S — Google review
What an amazing experience. We reserved/prepaid a booing online for Sat night dinner for 2. We opted for the 7 course menu with wine paring and it was totally worth it. Wonderful and surprising dishes with the right choice of wine. The only thing that could be improved is the explanation behind each dish and wine paring. Other than that a 5 star experience.
Ivan D — Google review
It’s interesting place however I was expecting more from Michelin’s start ⭐️. The signature dish is pigeon. It’s a strong taste, with pigeon meat I miss some side dish that will balance the whole experience. Pigeon stew is great , but pigeon breast too strong. The place has an excellence wine selection from the all around the globe with all price ranges. You have 4,5,6 or 7 menu. If you can choose take a table in the main room not in the front room.

Vessel 11 is a unique dining and entertainment venue located in the heart of Rotterdam. Housed within a historic red lightship, this establishment offers a British gastropub menu and an eclectic selection of drinks. Guests can enjoy live music events in various areas of the ship, including the belly bar, while quizzes and other activities take place in the bow bar. The ship also features a spacious deck terrace where visitors can savor delicious food and drinks while taking in scenic views on sunny days.
Vessel 11 is a truly unique dining experience in the heart of Rotterdam. The setting—a bright red British lightship—is already something special, but the food takes it to the next level. I tried the Sunday Roast and a local craft beer, and both were excellent. The service was friendly and the view from the deck is beautiful, especially at sunset. A great place for both locals and tourists. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something beyond the usual restaurant atmosphere!

Surprisingly, the foods are amazing! Came here for a comedy night the other day, so didnt manage to enjoy the outdoor seating, but the foods were great! It’s too bad that their beef wellington (the menu I was super excited to try) has bacon in it, so could not eat any of it, but the rest of the foods are really nice. Really nice settings, helpful staff, great food, nice wines, and verryyyy romantic. Price is also very reasonable. Perfect for a date night or cute brunch spot

Pretty cool spot to grab a beer or some food. It's a floating brewery and also has gigs and events. I had the brewers wiezen and it was pretty good. Food wasn't bad but it is a little pricey.

We had a wonderful experience at Vessel11. I’d highly recommend you check it out! The food was delicious. I know I’m going to crave their fish and chips soon. But it’s not only their main, the sticky toffee pudding was delicious, and I can’t wait to return to try the banananoffee tart, the chocolate lava cake, or the millionaire’s slice. The waiter who helped us made great recommendations, they were attentive and friendly. Couldn’t ask for more. The view from the top deck is lovely (if it’s a sunny day, make sure to check it out), but there’s also seating inside. If you needed any more reasons to visit - there’s a Pac-Man machine downstairs (which you can play for free) and a dance floor and piano. What a vibe! Go now!

A very nice unique restaurant on a boat. Beautiful red exterior and very cozy interior makes you feel very comfortable and excited. They have a nice terrace on the ship with a camp fire kinda setup in the centre and tables around the bar. The service is very nice and the food is decent. They also have a good options for the drinks you can order.

Glad we made a reservation. Service was quick, waiters were VERY nice and the food was very good. I ordered beef & Guinness stew, it was delicious, the pie itself was moist and well filled, the gravy was a perfect add. Husband had turkey brisket and was also very happy with his choice.

Friendly young girl. Food was fresh, oh the tomatoes and their freshness, huge portions and taste bang on. The Buratta was soo good. Definitely worth a visit to eat good hearty Italian food and pls only share. It's the best way to eat.

I heard from many friends about this place. The interior is really special, high ceilings, rustic feelings and thematic. The service was a bit slow, but maybe because it was a busy night. We had to wait quite a while for our pizzas. Calamaris where delicious, not too salty. Bruschetta and focaccia a bit of a let down, as it has the same pizza dough. So we had pizza as starters to share and more pizza as main… most of the pizzas were good, great crust and thin. Mine just tasted a bit too salty. Dessert was really nice though, the tiramisu was amazing. Maybe my expectations were high, but it was just an okay experience not bad, but not excellent.

Escape to Italy through a single door. It’s weird that when you see a place from the outside it’s not at all what you expect it would look like on the inside. With its rich and historic setting, O’Pazzo really does a great job at taking you out of your Dutch reality and putting you in Italy. From their drinks, to their desserts, they remain true to the Italian cuisine and they do it well. My rating is purely based on my experience from previous Italian places and I rate it for what it is. The food is good, but not exceptional. It has simple flavours that make you go “mmmm, this is good”. I would have liked the Tiramisu to have the same punch in flavour as it has in presentation. What really makes this experience unique is the ambience that is created inside the building. You’re taking a step back in time with stunning art all around you and this amazing music when you go to the bathroom. They are a little bit above average when it comes to food prices (not drink), but it’s okay to pay that if you take a moment to appreciate the work they’ve done to make you feel like you’re not in the Netherlands. This place can easily become a regular spot as it’s simple and sophisticated.

We had a reservation beforehand, which I recommend, because it was about full when we came for dinner. Had pizza and pasta, really good, and the tiramisu blew our minds. A moderate to high pricing.

I had such a great time here! The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere made the whole experience even better. The place has such a unique vibe, and I have to mention the toilet, it was scary but in such a cool and fun way 😂 Definitely a spot worth visiting again!

O’Pazzo, Rotterdam stuns with its themed interiors and a gorgeous mosaic pizza oven dedicated to Vulcan, the Roman god of fire. Tried the Pizza Carnivora and Quattro Stagioni—both were packed with flavor and perfectly baked. Also loved the Calamari Fritti, bruschetta with smoked salmon, and a recommended drink Maso Di Mezzo along with few pints of Affligem. Only downside: the WC area with a Jesus statue and prayer audio felt out of place. Still, a must-visit for top-notch Italian food in Rotterdam!

I’m a daily customer at O’Pazzo in Rotterdam, and it’s become one of my favorite places in the city. The food is consistently excellent—authentic, flavorful, and always served with care. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are truly great people—friendly, attentive, and always smiling. Even once when the terrace was completely full, they handled it so gracefully, doing their best to make everyone feel comfortable. That just shows the level of hospitality and service they bring to everything they do. If you’re looking for real Italian food and a place that feels like home, O’Pazzo is the spot. Highly recommended!

The rosemary polenta was the highlight of the bistecca di cervo, which was delicious overall, and the carbonara was equally amazing, if not better. The ossobuco was really good, but its gnocchi was just fine. Pizzas are very tasty, good dough and fresh ingredients.

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Rotterdam Zoo, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Van Nelle Factory BV. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Rotterdam Zoo, also known as Diergaarde Blijdorp, is a historic zoo established in 1857 and renowned for its successful breeding programs. The zoo features diverse themed areas such as the Asian section with a swamp forest and large aviaries, a Mongolian steppe, a bat cave, and a Chinese garden. Visitors can observe various wildlife including rhinos, lions, tigers, giraffes, gorillas, polar bears, penguins and elephants.
Great Zoo! The zoo was bigger than i expected, to get through it we walked around from 11:00 till 17:00. A big sealife area is present with lots of different types of animals. Then you have themes all around the park with animals there based on where they live in the world, recommended for couples and families!

Main attraction was red panada to which we come to see and actually end up seeing was very cute to see in natural. The other cute anaimal was volpus artic fox. The zoo has many animals and eating facilities and areas for the children to play. I would recommend a visit, perfect for a family day out
Asad Z — Google review
Diergaarde Blijdorp offers a truly remarkable experience for animal lovers and families alike, standing out as an exceptionally clean zoo with a palpable commitment to its inhabitants. From the moment we entered, the well-kept paths and immaculate grounds made for a pleasant day of exploration. Excellent Habitats and Animal Health The overall impression of animal care was overwhelmingly positive. It was clear that the animals are well cared for, appearing healthy, active, and thriving in their environments. The zoo boasts various animals from different continents, ensuring that every corner of the park provides a new discovery. What impressed me most was the thoughtful design of the enclosures; each animal enjoys quite a spacious area with a good environment that seems tailored to its natural needs. This dedication to natural habitats, rather than small cages, is what sets Blijdorp apart. A personal highlight was watching the elephants; the herd was incredibly active, with one elephant being particularly friendly and playful it was a joyous sight to see them interacting so freely and happily. Room for Improvement While the main zoo experience was superb, there were a couple of minor disappointments worth noting. Sadly, the indoor kid area had a noticeable smell of urine. Given the high standards everywhere else in the park, this was quite a letdown and made the time spent there less enjoyable for the adults. It’s definitely an area that needs more frequent attention from the cleaning crew. The second issue was the technical failure of a key souvenir opportunity. We were disappointed to find that the photo machine didn't really work when we tried to use it. We had really hoped to use it as a souvenir of our visit that day, so having it out of order was a small but significant frustration at the end of a long day. Despite these minor organizational hiccups, the sheer quality of the animal habitats and the overall beautiful, clean presentation of the zoo ensures Blijdorp remains a top tier attraction. The focus on animal welfare is undeniable, making it a highly recommended place to visit.

An absolutely amazing experience at Blijdorp Zoo! 🐘 The zoo has so much to offer it’s large in size, beautifully maintained and full of gorgeous animals surrounded by nature. You can easily spend the whole day here with kids or family. I totally recommend visiting here it’s such a wonderful place!

This is our third visit to the zoo. We really love it! The enclosures for the animals are spacious and the staff seem to really care and they make sure that the animals aren't bored. I didn't take any photos this time of the sea lions or the penguins, but they were very entertaining, as always. The sea lions were in a cuddle/huddle in the outdoor viewing area. They were singing quite loudly, also. It's so fun to watch the penguins swim. The underwater tunnel is a place to sit and dream of being in the water with the animals. We saw an angel fish that was working out, swimming against a current. 😁 We also saw a shark resting on the floor of the glass above is in the tunnel. It's so nice to go here and see bison, which reminds me of the Midwest (USA). While walking past the polar bear exhibit, we thought that we were unlikely to see them, as they were not outside. However, as we were about to leave that area, two emerged from one of their homes, standing on their hind legs and fighting. It was wild! We were happy that we got the chance to see them. My kid loves the gift shop. If there's an unusual stuffed plush animal you are seeking, it is likely they carry it. We always take home a new one with each visit. This visit was a stuffed deer. Highly recommend a visit. Make sure you have energy, because it can be a lot of walking if you want to see all parts of the zoo.

As a family, we like to visit different animal parks wherever we go. This time we went to Rotterdam, and we defenitely were not dissapointed. Altho some places looked empty or not habited, the ones that were looked great. The animal(s) looked good. It made me think of a smaller version of pairi daiza here in Belgium. Off course it’s not comparable, but I think with the right sponsors and whatnot. They could get there at some point :) we would probably go again if we were in Rotterdam, especially with young kids. To me this was so baby/kids friendly!

A nice zoo, i rate it next to Amersfoort zoo. Though they don't have train ride for children or paddling boat like Amersfoort had. We enjoyed the Oceanium,, my kids loved sharks, Manta rays, Nemo n'Dory. A white bears which I've only seen in Antwerpen Zoo. They have more soort of Savanna animals, en educational museums. A lot of giraffe's Amazing! A lot of food court/resto..and 'statiegeld inleveren' machines is a ➕️ Ticket is expensive, no discount. Everywhere benches to get some rest

Miniworld Rotterdam is a captivating attraction housed in a spacious warehouse, spanning over 535 square meters. It features an intricate miniature model of Rotterdam, complete with day and night simulations. The exhibit showcases famous landmarks and attractions of the Netherlands on a small scale, including a detailed replica of the Rotterdam Port and Water Port. Visitors can marvel at the 2.
My kids age 4 and 8 loved it. I like that you can use the ticket for 99 days (I believe even 1 year if you buy something extra for 4.5€). I like that they added paw patrol and pokemon figures around the place for children to find. We will come back

I enjoyed it here. The building itself looks a little tired and dated, but there are lots of detailed models, mostly of places around Rotterdam. They also have a new section downstairs, with models of places in the UK. It was a work in progress (in February 2025) but it's good to see that they are still adding new attractions. There is a restaurant (although I didn't eat there), as well as a gift shop, which sells a wide range of products, such as models, trains etc. Overall, a good experience and worth visiting if you're in Rotterdam.
Tintin — Google review
The miniatures were cool to look at. We had fun spotting the Pokémons and interacting with the displays via the buttons you can press to make things move. However, the place needs a bit of updating, like the paint on the walls, the ceilings, and the floor. They're still building the rest of the UK miniatures. The staff in the reception was nice and efficient, but not very friendly or talkative, but it's fine. We went on a hot weekend and the place inside felt cool so that's nice! It was also not too crowded.

Really great miniature museum showcasing what feels really authentic Netherlands landscapes and some of the main Rotterdam landmarks. It's amazingly crafted, and you can get a sneak peek of the work being done behind the scene with view of the workshop and the train system control station. Pretty cool! There's also a UK exhibition on in the basement with great castles and mountain towns. The whole place feels really cozy and family friendly, there's also a small gift-shop and restaurant. The person at the front desk was really nice and welcoming, giving some explanation on where to go and what to see. If you like miniatures, don't miss out!
Julien P — Google review
The interior of the building felt a bit old and the lady in the front just needed to scan my ticket to let me in but took quite a while before she actually got me in because she was busy with a phone call (someone seemed to be making an appointment for a big group) but I waited probably 10 to 15 minutes before being helped. I think that is room for improvement but it was just one employee. The actual displays themselves are something to behold, it really brought back my inner child and there are plenty of interactive displays. In addition to all of this, they have the lights go out periodically to simulate night and day. I highly recommend this even though I had a bit of an inconvenience in the beginning.

The Van Nelle Factory BV is a modernist 1930s factory in Rotterdam that has been transformed into an arts hub, housing creative companies and serving as an event venue. During Rotterdam Art Week, the city comes alive with major art and design fairs like Art Rotterdam and Object Rotterdam, attracting numerous art enthusiasts. The factory, originally a tobacco factory, is considered a pinnacle of Dutch industrial heritage and was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2014.
I highly recommend taking the guided tour. It was an amazing experience. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage building. Our guide was a student in architecture and he enjoyed sharing all his knowledge about the factory and more. He shared with us info on architectural details used in the building which I thought was inspiring and mind blowing considering it was built in the 1920s. Before booking the guided tour, I didn’t expect to learn so much about this historical and important building and the brand and story behind it. The photos won’t mean anything until the tour is taken or unless there is already some knowledge on the Van Nelle Factory.

Beautiful old coffee, tea and tobacco factory from 1931 Architectural masterpiece with ingenious environmentally friendly solutions. Choose a guided tour including the equally beautiful Chabot museum. Which is located in the centre of the city. And offers a film about the Van Nelle.By bike or car ( free parking at van Nelle). Also a nice location for parties and events. Unesco World Heritage.

Fascinating modernist building with great story behind it! Lots of original fixtures and fittings.

Fantastic building in the context of 1920-1930 when designed and built. Recommended to take the guided architecture tour by the Chabot Museum during weekends. In one hour you are taken into the factory and explained many interesting details of the design, technology and use of the building. Now a hub for rental office spaces of a wide variety of companies. Its UNESCO status means that building is maintained as close as possible to its original design.

I visited Van Nelle factory on a tour. The building is a UNESCO heritage site, famous for its beautiful modern architecture. It is a bit obscure and off the beaten track as a tourist destination but definitely worth a visit if you are an achitecture/art fan. There is a nice view from the top floor on the surroundings, with Rotterdam skyscrapers in the distance. To my knowledge, it is open for tours only on week ends. English language tour was excellent, highly informative and brought the building to life. It should be booked in advance online. The factory is accessible from Rotterdam central by taxi ride (probably there is also a public transportation option but i am not sure).

Amazing building and a key visit in Rotterdam if you’re into modern architecture. You can park your car within the perimeter, enjoy the building from all angles and then go for the cafeteria where there is a small exhibit.

Lovely experiences. I highly recommend the Art Fairs in The Netherlands. Van Nelle Factory is a great place for events and conferences. PS: Before ending your visit, grab a homemade cider made right at Van Nelle Factory
Andrei F — Google review
To begin with, it doesn't feel too fascinating, when you're associating it with UNESCO! However when you understand that this was built in 1925-31, in the beginning of industrial revolution, when all other buildings were built of bricks and primarily opaque - this, primarily made of glass & steel and primarily transparent - is an absolute shocker! This paved way for, set an inspiration for all the sky-scraper office buildings that you see today that are just glass & steel!

Café Marseille, formerly known as Tandoor 16, has undergone a successful transformation into a vibrant and popular spot. The colorful bar and terrace make it an ideal place for a leisurely breakfast, quick coffee break, or indulgent seafood feast. This lovely French café in Chinatown offers diverse menu options to suit various tastes and budgets. The one-woman show service is impressive, creating a romantic yet lively ambiance. Guests highly recommend the fish soup and perfectly cooked chips.
Cafe Marseille is one of those rare places in Rotterdam where everything comes together perfectly. The mussels are absolutely outstanding — fresh, richly flavored, and cooked just right every time. Equally impressive is their steak, which is consistently tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. But beyond the delicious food, what truly sets Cafe Marseille apart is the exceptional service. The staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in. Their warmth and professionalism elevate the entire dining experience, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re there for a special dinner or a casual meal, Cafe Marseille delivers both quality and hospitality in equal measure. It’s definitely one of my go-to spots in Rotterdam for great food and impeccable service.

I took a chance on the restaurant after having read the reviews. The food is excellent, no questions here. But the service is disappointingly deplorable. While the waitresses were very nice and understanding, the food was veeeery (excruciatingly) slow and the owners next to us were acting as if the restaurant was their playground; I’m guessing for an interview/social media. I personally regret having come all the way out of Zeeland just to witness this. But it’s alright. Food is decent but I wouldn’t go out of my way anymore for a joint like this.

Amazing oysters. The shrimp croquette was good but not amazing and definitely not worth the price. Personnel is very friendly, also the food and drinks come quickly. The atmosphere is really good, in general the furniture decorations etc all look very nice. Definitely a must visit especially on Sunday for the discounted oysters.

A former colleague of mine recommended this place, so we decided to try it out on a Friday. It was a really good time! Staff are very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. Quite a substantial part of the menu seems to change periodically. Which I think is really fun and definitely encourages me to return there. Food was quite good, we shared a tuna steak salad, a plate of duck and a plate of fish (forgot what it was, but it was one of the periodical dishes). Dessert was a lot! Really tasty, and not too sweet.

Wonderful time there. The service staff were amazing, thoughtful and really friendly. Food was above average and the vibes were perfect! Just what we had wanted for our dinner date.
Teck K — Google review
We had a dinner for 2 at Cafe Marseille, a place that's been on our list for a long time. The "specials" menu at the entrance is tempting, so we had the anchovies starter and halibut main from there. Anchovies were nice and the halibut was cooked well, still flaky and had a fresh sea aroma. Halibut comes with a pumpkin puree and hollandaise sauce, I also picked mashed potatoes on the side. I love it when restaurants serve a slice of lemon with fish, but in this case, it wasn't necessary. The halibut was well-seasoned and the hollandaise sauce had enough acidity to complement it. I'd highly recommend it if you see in their menu again. We also tried their bouillabaisse, the broth was fresh, and it was one of the better fish soups I've had here so far. You could tell the ingredients were fresh. For dessert, I went for the special of the day: tarte a babeurre. A French take on pastel de nata, as our waiter described it. I liked that it wasn't as sweet as that, and the plating of the dessert was my favorite of the night. I wish they had more options for wine by glass. While they did have some more interesting natural wines, I'd like to see more French varieties available on their menu. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with plenty of French elements in the decor, but I guess there're too many tables inside, and it can get loud when it's packed full. Adding to that point, while we were happy with the service, keep in mind that it can take a while for the food to arrive, especially if it's a busy night. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner there, and we'll come back to try out the rest of their menu.
Aysun U — Google review
The food was amazing, brought me back to my holidays in France. The place is really cute and so French. The service was great, the waitress was really lovely and helpful. The only thing is I find it a bit overpriced, the food is amazing but some items like the pulpo is a bit overpriced in my opinion. But it’s a great dinner place for special occasions.

Fantastic little restaurant serving traditional bistro style french food. It serves classics the way they're supposed to be done. We started out with some 'oefs mayonaise' and 'rilletes de canard', all home made. As mains we had bouilabaisse, 'steak frites' - of course with a real sauce bearnaise - , and skrei accompanied by grilled green asparagus with white bean and lemon creme fraiche. Everything was done simple and delicious. To round up the evening we tried the 'tarte aux citron' which was great! The whole ambiance breathes 'France' up to and including the French cinema classic 'La Piscine' playing in the background. Very happy with this experience!

I booked a 5-course dinner for restaurant week. The overall taste was not very balanced. It was either too salty or too sour. The main course steak had some tendons like chewing gum. The dessert was very sour. The decaf coffee was just a long Nestle capsule, and it was charged for 9.5 euros. And btw the still water is also 9.5 euros, which is quite shocking. The service may be one of the few that is up to standard.

The restaurant is certainly a must visit in Rotterdam. The staff is extremely courteous and will satisfy every wish. The food is phenomenally good. The watermelon in particular is an exciting composition of appearance, texture and taste. If desired, the sommelier will serve excellent wines to accompany each course. The prices are absolutely reasonable. I will definitely come back here for dinner on every visit to Rotterdam.

Verhage Blijdorp seems to be a standout among Dutch snack bars, offering a delightful experience. Despite general reservations about snack bar food, this place managed to impress with its chicken bucket and BBQ dip sauce. The grilled chicken received high praise for both its appearance and taste, making it worth the price. Additionally, the 0.33 size Coke served with the meal was appreciated. While cold beer was missed, the terrace and relaxed atmosphere were perfect for families.
I loved this place, the hamburguer was delicious and with the fries and salade it is a lot of food! I came with family and we all loved it. We even ended up asking for a delivery in the next weekend. I will surely visit more often.

Normally very friendly service and good food. Summer 2025: rude service if you can even call it that - they get your order wrong, throw fries all over the (dirty) table and then put them back on the plate and expect you to eat them! They bring your drink in a broken glass and when you point it out, tell you to drink from the other side! Honestly, I live around here and this is by far the worst experience I had so far. I was with my kid, we had to wait ages for our replacement fries and it turned out they just forgot to bring them. When I asked to speak to the manager, got fobbed off by the very rude girl. Food is good but honestly, the owners should reconsider their hiring choices… Will avoid this summer

Also upon waiting in line to order a mouse came running out of the kitchen, so I can only imagine the nastiness that’s contaminating the food. A really nice place in this neighborhood. We enjoyed a good burger and great service. The personnel were really friendly and helpful, especially Kim

I have tried many places for fries, in different cities of the Netherlands, even Belgium. Guess what, Bram is the best of them all. It is crunchy outside and softly cooked inside. It is AMAZING. My favourite ever. I'm scared of getting addicted on Dutch potatoes, welp XD OH ALSO, IT IS CRUNCHY OUTSIDE EVEN IF YOU ADD SAUCE ON IT, YES!!!

get the fries, the fries are amazing. i got the truffle sauce, i will get it again.

The fries are great, but the problem is the prices of the fries and the amount of sauce they give. Ordered a medium fries and got an amount of sauce like its war time and we have to ration. Honestly Bram, give the people some more sauce, especiallt since they charge seperate for the sauces and quite a lot

The guy was nice, but I only got one of two fries I ordered 🥲 and the burger wasn’t lekker

Very friendly owner, a few seats to eat there inside and s few seats outside. The chips of Bram ladage are amazing, crispy, never dry, super. They have recently added several other snacks, vegetarian, beef, chicken. Good place for a quick fried potato

Quick service, best fries in the Netherlands for sure. Nice milkshakes as well. Didn't have to wait too long and the prices are good too.
