(原文) Beautiful and iconic spot right in the heart of the French Quarter! I love how peaceful and holy it feels inside, even though there’s so much going on right outside. The interior design is gorgeous, and it’s nice and cool inside with the air conditioning. Best part — it’s free to visit! Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in New Orleans.

(原文) A stunning landmark in the heart of the French Quarter, the St. Louis Cathedral is both historically rich and beautifully maintained. Open to the public during regular hours, it is fully accessible and welcoming to all visitors. The architecture is breathtaking, and a peaceful interior offers a quiet moment away from the bustle of Jackson Square. Whether you are drawn by faith, history, or aesthetics, it is worth stepping inside. The surrounding area is lively, with street performers and artists just outside, but the cathedral itself remains serene. It is a must-see for anyone exploring New Orleans.

(原文) This was an interesting stop — it’s cool to see the hangars where the Mardi Gras floats are built and get a peek behind the scenes. The guide was really knowledgeable and shared some fun history and stories about the floats they’ve made for different events. That said, I felt the price was a bit high for what you get. The tour is mostly walking around and looking at the floats — not a lot of hands-on activities or interactive displays. It might be more exciting for kids, but adults might expect a bit more. Also, the walk from the parking lot was pretty hot since it’s a bit of a distance. Overall, worth checking out once for the experience, but I wish there was a little more to do inside.

(原文) Mardi Gras magic in the making! Loved getting a behind-the-scenes look at the float-building process—so much color and creativity. Our tour guide was fantastic: engaging, knowledgeable, and fun. It’s a great stop for families or anyone curious about New Orleans culture. Just a heads-up: the warehouse isn’t air-conditioned, so plan for a cooler day to stay comfortable.

You get to take a behind the scenes look at how these enormous Mardi Gras floats are constructed. It’s a must see for makers, prop and set designers and sculptors!

(原文) The Sculpture Garden truly never gets old. I grew up here in New Orleans and City Park has always had a special place in my heart. It's such a wonderful treat to be able to bring my daughter here and see the new additions to the gardens. (原文) Wonderful little sculpture park nestled in the south side of city park The first thing which struck me about this brilliant little free attraction was the diversity in sculptures. Each crafted by a different creative mind, using varied raw materials in unique and perplexing ways. The sculptures provoke an array of personal thoughts and feelings, sometimes due to the way they move and sometimes due to their curious topologies. The park is nicely connected by a labyrinth of paths that lead you betwixt the sculptures, over quaint bridges and through nooks. A wonderful immersive art experience.

(原文) What a rush! I absolutely LOVED the Sculpture Garden, it was quirky and unique and beautiful and weird, it was amazing. And to see my 5 year old grandson so intrigued by the sculptures made the visit even more fabulous. We visited on a Tuesday and the crowds were light, so we were able to really enjoy without rushing. I urge you to make the Sculpture Garden a definite stop when you visit City Park.

(原文) The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is an absolute gem hidden within City Park, and the best part? It's completely free! This expansive collection of sculptures is beautifully integrated into the public areas of the park, making art accessible to everyone. What truly sets this sculpture garden apart is its impressive scale and continuous growth. The collection is substantial and ever-expanding, offering something new with each visit. The thoughtful placement of sculptures throughout the landscape creates a wonderful journey of discovery. The landscaping surrounding the sculptures is nothing short of impeccable. The grounds are meticulously maintained and create an incredibly inviting atmosphere that enhances the overall experience. Strategic placement of benches throughout the garden provides perfect spots to pause, rest, and contemplate the artwork you've encountered. I cannot emphasize enough what a delightful surprise it is to find such a world-class sculpture garden in City Park, available to all at no cost. This is a must-visit destination that I highly recommend to anyone—whether you're an art enthusiast or simply looking for a peaceful, inspiring place to spend an afternoon.

(原文) A Hidden Gem for History Lovers (and it's FREE!) I was surprised by the quality and depth of the displays. There's a lot of history packed into this collection, and it's presented in an engaging way. I spent a good amount of time exploring the various exhibits and definitely left with a better understanding of New Orleans' past. If you're the kind of person who enjoys museums and historical sites, I would definitely suggest setting aside at least an hour to explore. It's a worthwhile and free activity that offers a great insight into the history and culture of New Orleans.

(原文) Had an incredible time walking through the Vietnamese exhibit that they had. It was amazing to hear about the history of Vietnamese culture in New Orleans which we did not know a lot about. The stories shared were touching and inspiring. It showed up many places we wanted to visit during our trip like the first Viet restaurant in New Orleans like Pho Tau Bay. The museum is very extensive with 3 floors of artifacts and stories highlighting the many things of the city that makes it so unique. Although this is a free place to visit, it is recommended to donate to keep this place running to educate tourist like me about the true beauties of this city. Thank you for an incredible time.

(原文) It's a wonderful history museum focused on Louisiana and New Orleans. There's 3 floors and each floor has a different theme. I liked the second floor. It talked about the Mississippi River delta and the decline of land. The oil industry digs trenches and the trench fills with salt water and kills the surrounding grass and plants. That helps speed up the erosion process and that' been going on since the 1930's. The other problem is Levy's. They don't allow silt and sediment to travel down stream. By 2070, Louisiana will be 40% smaller.

The current exhibits contain amazing aerial shots of the Bayou is changing over this photographer's life, wildlife explanations and pictures/statues/tactile displays (great for kids), artwork depicting New Orleans through the years, and a very well done civil rights story (we just visited the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, and this added some information to that). (原文) This place was amazing. We went as soon as they opened on a Saturday morning and the kids were able to do everything they wanted to do. They had sunblock dispensers at the entrance and hand sanitizer placed throughout. Indoor areas are amazing, awesome toddler area, the outdoor spots were clean and fun, the art station and water stations were easily the best. The staff was all fantastic as well. I could go on and on, this was a definite hit. It felt amazing to be somewhere designed for kids, not just accommodating or tolerate of them.

(原文) Move with the River, Follow that Food and Jammin House were some of her favorites. Overall, while the museum offers engaging spaces, for those who value children's museums that excel in truly open-ended play, rich loose parts, and exhibits with scalable complexity – allowing children of varying ages and abilities to engage at their own level and continually discover new challenges – there's certainly room for growth in areas like the water and food exhibits. With some thoughtful additions, these spaces could become even more powerful catalysts for learning and imaginative exploration.

My husband and I are both teachers (not in Louisiana) and we had never heard the heroic story of these brave ladies. The site is beautiful, but currently under renovations, so they have the schematics and projected sketches for what the facility will look like upon completion. I cannot wait until it is completed--we will absolutely be back! The images that you see when you google the place is not correct (or wasn't for us, it kept showing the purple house) but this is in the school so pivotal for the desegregation story for LA. I've attached an image of the sign: they request that you call to schedule a tour. It is $5 per person, to help with renovations and well worth the cost. (原文) Oh what a wonderful world A wonderful little world housed just outside of the French quarter of New Orleans. This quiet little haven of peace serves as a public green space, equipped with sculptures, plaques and more honouring the late founder of jazz. Though I would say it’s potential has been let down by its custodians. The park has some quaint little walkways and bridges which personally I enjoyed. This included a wooden bridge over a small beck, within which turtles can be spotted. We pondered on whether the turtles are natural or placed by man. I can’t help feeling like this park isn’t lifted to its full potential, due to the abundance of scaffolding and heras fencing, and the colour of the water. This could be a truly magical place but does feel somewhat uncared for. I understand there has been discussion about whether the adjacent parking lots may be incorporated into the park at some point.

(原文) Louis Armstrong Park has the appearance of a public space designed in the Lyndon Johnson era. Stark looking concrete bridges over concrete ponds seemingly without intent or direction. I can't quite figure out what seems so odd about the park. The rarely used Mahalia Jackson Theater is on the property as well as a very large abandoned building, the Municipal Auditorium whose intent is unknown to me, but is in great need of rehabilitation. I find an Executive Order from the Mayors office setting up a committee to study its redevelopment. Hopefully something is in the works. There is also an older historic building complex in the middle of the park, fenced off. Don't know what that is. The stark concrete bridges would be a lot more pleasing to the eye if they were faced with brick. Anyway, it does serve as an outdoor space for events and gathering spot for walking parades. I'm not sure whether they even have bathrooms in the park. There are some nice statues.

After visiting the museum, you could go to Congo Square and Louis Armstrong Park to immerse yourself in this iconic venue where it all began. We skipped the ground floor US Mint exhibition (the building was formerly the US Mint) and went straight to the first floor jazz exhibitions. Informative, diverse pieces including photographs, instruments and music snippets and good storytelling connecting them. We loved the exhibits: Keith Duncan's HBCU portraits were joyful and beautiful, Benny Andrews was a revelation, Hoa Tay (Flower Hands) was thought provoking and the images of New Orleans from the permanent collection gave us new insight into the creative history of a great American city. Finally visited last summer on one of the free local days, and it’s now one of my favorite art museums.

(原文) Garden district was a series of sugar cane plantations in its heyday. It was the only street where Americans could purchase lands and build houses when the French had ownership of Louisiana before the Louisiana purchase. The houses still hold the facade many of them too expensive to be redone inside, many abandoned projects. There are symbolic architecture on fences which were done by African slaves to pay homage to their culture. I had an exceptional tour guide who was very very knowledgeable kind and it was a walking tour. I’m glad that I did it. I also visited the infamous Brukner mansion which was also a university for a while.

(原文) Truly an amazing city district! One of the finest, classiest I've ever visited. The history, the architecture; it's truly one of a kind! I would highly recommend adding this striking district to your New Orleans travel itinerary. There is much to explore, museums, art galleries, guided tours, and more! This part of New Orleans has appeared in many Hollywood films; notably The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Interview With The Vampire, as well as television shows such as American Horror Story: Coven. There are many fine restaurants and coffee houses, which, combined with the stunning visuals surrounding you, truly makes for an unforgettable experience. There are some downsides, however. This area is often crowded with tourists and, just as well, con artists eagerly waiting to take advantage of these inexperienced travelers. Be weary of anyone you do not know. If someone calls you out on the street, ignore them or politely move on. All in all, New Orleans is one of the United States' oldest and most unique cities, and that vibrant, diverse, and truly different culture is on full display in the Garden District. I highly recommend you explore this amazing part of an already amazing city!

From there, you can watch the boats float by and the sunrise ripple on the water. The place is quiet in the early morning with just a few joggers and walkers. (原文) I love Longue Vue. I have been coming 6 years. Every time I come the staff is lovely and kind. And the food at the cafe is great. yes it has changed a couple of years ago to what I see as a vegan/vegetarian food options the food is still great and I specifically love their bagels!! I recommend 10/10! Garlic spread specifically. The gardens? GORGEOUS The staff? MARVELOUS The home? IMMACULATE The food? DELICIOUS For all the people giving one star because the gardens are 'unkempt' how would you like to keep up 16 different gardens across 8 acres of land? It is very difficult. I have become close with the Longue Vue staff for coming here so often. If you have an issue with how the gardens look please go and volunteer yourself to clean it up and make it look beautiful. However they are still beautiful and the gardens that are 'unkempt' to you, might actually be designed to look like that. Also, "As it is, at $3 more per person than the far superior botanical garden 10 minutes away, I do not feel I received good value for my money." somebody said this in a review. If you feel that way then just go there. As I have volunteered at Longue Vue before, we have a lot of staff and a lot of land that we need to work to keep it how it was previously. Also y'all understand what weathering is correct. Old things do get dirty and it is hard to get to everything. Don't be shallow as an adult.

(原文) Finally had a chance to visit the iconic Congo Square. It is a city park filled with New Orleans tradition. From the slave trade to the beginning of Jazz the park offers some great statues and historic markers.

(原文) This area is deep rooted in history. Enslaved and free people of color gathered here in the 19th century for meetings, markets, and cultural celebrations. These Sunday gatherings developed jazz by serving as a rare space for African Americans to practice ancestral music and dance traditions which influenced the foundation of American music. Congo Square's history continues today through festivals and traditional drumming circles, honoring its legacy as a vital center of African American culture. Take the time to explore this deep rooted connection.

(原文) I love history, so this review is somewhat biased. I am sure that many would find the battlefield to be dull and boring; there isn't much for kids to do here. The talk by the NPS ranger was excellent. A bonus (for me at least) was the Creole Queen had docked while I was there. A walk up to the levee led to other opportunities to ship-sight. The restroom was clean and convenient. The a/c at the visitor's center was not functioning, so it was closed. The park rangers were available outside to answer questions, but I would have liked to have seen the exhibits inside.

(原文) It is a good concept and provides access from the Treme area to Mid City. The several playing fields and the exercise pavilion are ok gathering and recreational spots. However the constant reworking of the landscape is both annoying and seemingly irrational, and completely contradicts the purported goal of "naturalizing" the space. Whoever is directing this disruptive disaster should be replaced with someone with actual horticultural knowledge and understanding of natural processes. Also, horse riders are often taking over the walkway and also allowing their horses to defecate at will. This is totally inappropriate and very unsanitary. Overall, the Greenway experience is mixed and could be much improved.

(原文) November 2025: we did a lot of research which restaurants to visit during our visit to New Orleans, my expectations were very high. Perhaps for that reason I was slightly disappointed. The start was fantastic. I like the option of having three small cups of their soups. Each one was excellent. I loved the turtle soup, gumbo was excellent and the cauliflower crab bisque came a close third. The arugula salad with apple shaving was refreshing with nice blend of flavors. However, the main entree were a disappointment. We switched in the middle comping that the flavors might be more pleasing for each, but that did not work for either one of us. Our choices were pork and quale. Our waitress was in training, and could not answer any questions and always had to call another waitress, who was terrific. Perhaps they should do training in pairs, so it is less frustrating to the diners.

(原文) Commanders pork chop was simply the best ever. The bread pudding souffle is a must. Remember to order it at the beginning of your meal. The chicken gumbo was very savory, but the turtle soup had too much of an alcohol aftertaste even without the sherry. While every server was friendly and attentive the "group care " concept didn't work for us. We had our drinks before our menu's. Everyone is whipping around and you kind of feel like the eye of a storm. It's a football team without a quarterback. Saying all that, the food was amazing and I would try it again. Oh, and the garlic bread are slices of heaven.

That is serving excellence! Turle soup is a must and loved the pumpkin curry as well. Fish and quail were so well prepared. And perfect portions. Can't wait to go back!

(原文) A long-standing tradition, Commander’s Palace is truly beautiful and feels like what you want New Orleans to be. While I did see comments about becoming too touristy and spotty service issues, we experienced none of the issues and all of the charm. I was in town visiting my local NOLA work crew and client and wanted to take everyone out for a special meal (we were celebrating a birthday, anniversary, successful presentation, and a brand new member of the team, as well as the last time I’m likely to see them this year). The space is beautiful. Cozy, charming, soft, and genteel, all with that creole flair. The food was divine. It took our entire table way too long to decide what to order because everything sounded too perfect. We got the gumbo (no okra, with chicken for inquiring minds), the turtle soup, the scallops, the pecan crusted fish with prosecco poached crab, the carrot cake cobbler, and of course the bread pudding. I’m going to dream about the bread pudding yall. For the celebration aspect, they put out balloons for the birthday girl and every single person who was working the floor made sure to stop by and wish her well. She almost murdered me. It was glorious. Please dress nicely and order something delicious (I can’t imagine how you’d go wrong). It’s an experience and an institution for a well-earned and deserved reason.

(原文) I came here before they were temporarily closed but I wanted to share some pictures. I loved seeing the craftsmanship because as you can see not all of them look the same. It’s like the perfect cemetery for a horror movie or show, walking around here at night would give you creepy, spine chilling vibes. It was free to visit and we didn’t do any tours. We drove here but parking was limited.

(原文) The Lafayette Cemetery # 1 was the last stop on our French Quarter Phantom's Garden District Tour. While this can't compare to the Recoleta Cemetery's (Buenos Aires) grandeur, it was still interesting to see but our guide's information was the best part. THE GROUNDS: High walls surround the city block-sized cemetery which opened in 1833 and is full of mausoleums and tombs of all styles, shaded by old magnolia trees. A lack of greenery and poshness is its only downfall. We learned that there is a proper way to be buried in the Big Easy due to the area's shallow water table, the rules of family interment, and the gruesome facts of "natural cremation". While some of its residents were well-known, none of their names rang a bell for me. A few mausoleums stood out, including a white one made out of metal that inspired author Anne Rice in her book Interview With The Vampire, one of my least favorite movies, LOL. One grave in particular wasn't properly dug which resulted in human remains surfacing above ground and are still visible today. OVERALL: A definite highlight of our tour but not the most compelling graveyard we've been to.

(原文) Wandering through the Garden District in New Orleans feels like stepping into another time, where ornate architecture, history, and atmosphere combine into a living story. My self guided walking tour brought me face-to-face with Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 one of the city’s most hauntingly beautiful landmarks. The first challenge was maneuvering my arm through the ornate wrought iron gate just to capture the photos. The ironwork itself felt like an introduction to the cemetery’s artistry, elegant yet impenetrable, guarding centuries of memory. Inside, the above ground tombs rise like miniature marble houses, their aging façades streaked with time and weather. Cracks spider through the stone, moss clings to corners, and names long forgotten peek out from fading inscriptions. Each tomb seemed to whisper a different story of families, of traditions, of the city itself. What truly set the mood were the leaves scattered across the grounds. The fall foliage was in the process of transforming the cemetery into something cinematic, as if nature itself had decided to stage a production just in time for Halloween. The golden and rust colored leaves draped the tombs, carpeting the pathways, and casting long shadows in the afternoon light. It was equal parts reverent and theatrical walking through felt like being part of a quiet, ongoing ritual where life, death, and art intermingle. A self-guided tour means you can linger, pause, and let the weight of history settle in. And trust me, with every photo and every corner turned, Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 delivers an unforgettable sense of beauty in decay.

(原文) The cemetery is closed to entry. You may occasionally see people coming or going but they are there to maintain the tombs. You can see quite a bit through the locked iron gates if you walk around the perimeter. The Lafayette Cemetery Number One is the oldest cemetery in what was the City of Lafayette. Lafayette was later incorporated into New Orleans. The above ground tombs are varied and in some ways quite beautiful.

Boys did their Junior Rangers booklets and there are two, for the Lafite and for the Jazz museums. There is a tiny gift shop in the visitor centre but the interpretation section is really great. 😎 (原文) Beautiful waters!! We found a secluded beach area where we stopped and barbecued and swam a bit in the water. It was gorgeous weather and perfect to be on the water in the boat! 😎

(原文) Always love being on the water in my boat. Lots of open water and hide away beaches. After a long day at the shop, being on the boat after work is just what I need.

(原文) Gigantic lake...so wide, you cant see the other side from the shore! Lots of shelters surrounding it for gatherings and picnics, plus a nice walking walk and nice paved roads for bike riding with several restaurants nearby on the Metairie side. The neatest thing was taking a car across the causeway, especially when its slightly foggy, it's like driving thru a cloud. Just make sure you're not on an empty tank! Worth a detour!

(原文) Went here twice and enjoyed both tours. It is a very historic building with an amazing church as well. I would recommend coming here.

(原文) This was originally supposed to be a quick, filler activity while we waited for the French Quarter to liven up, but we had such a good time. We did the guided tour and I cannot stress enough how good of an idea that was. Our guide was amazing. He was super knowledgeable, telling us history of the entire city and answering any and all NOLA questions, not just about the convent itself. The convent was beautiful, everything amazingly well preserved. Anyone with 1-2 hours to spare while they’re in New Orleans should definitely check it out.

(原文) Absolutely a must visit. The convent and church are stunning; everything in their collection is well labeled and vast in both historical and religious significance. Our guide Tom was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and had so much to share on how the convent and the nuns played a role in New Orleans history. We were also given as much time as we needed after the tour to look at everything closer, which was appreciated. My partner and I left incredibly impressed!

We went this morning and it was even better than imagined. This is the oldest structure in the Mississippi Valley, steeped in history and absolutely lovely. Beautiful grounds and church. The tour is extremely interesting and informative. A must do in the French Quarter if you can.

Shunli D — Google review
Y B — Google review
Vivian L — Google review
Great location, lots of people waiting in line almost all the time. The Beignet tastes good,my son likes them very much.Haven't try the coffee yet.
Yf H — Google review
Google review
