Staff were great. Given there was a lot of dancing in a full room, it didn't feel like the AC was on at all. It was very humid and hot, and many people kept leaving the room to get fresh air. It didn't seem like it could handle a sold out crowd. The women's bathroom floor was even wet from the humidity (It had fully open doors) and the mirror was fogged up at one point. They gave out free ice cold bottled waters which was really necessary, and they let us go outside as long as we were stamped to get back in. I'm not sure I would go to another event there, especially if sold out, but it was fun, the venue was small (compared to other music venues) but good, and staff were friendly including security which kept making sure we were okay. I'm not sure what the reasoning was, but we also waited outside about 40 minutes to be let in after the event start time, so those of us with exposed legs were getting bitten by mosquitoes while waiting.

Entertainment: They have a different set every 40 or 45 minutes after the hour. Definitely not raunchy or anything classless, But I would not recommend this place for kids under 16 maybe even 18. As this was my first time, I wasn’t really aware that the show takes place kind of at the eye level of the people sitting upstairs, and we ended up sitting downstairs. Still a great deal because the entertainment was also on the floor, but I feel like there were parts of the show that we missed when they were doing floor work in the skybox. We would have been able to see that better if we were on the second floor. Now we know for next time though. Last tidbit: No matter the size of your party or the time of day or the day of the week that you come in, they will be adding 22% gratuity to your bill automatically. Overall, my first Sax experience was great. Definitely book a reservation. They do have a two hour maximum time limit that they claim that they strictly enforce. I used to frequent this place a lot in 2016-2018. There was no line, got my ID checked, and gave my $20 cover fee. Upon entering and going down the stairs, it seemed over capacity. We arrived right when doors were scheduled to open, only to be shuffled up to the rooftop bar due to technical difficulties downstairs. That said, the rooftop staff and bartenders were incredibly friendly and clearly doing their best to keep things running smoothly. All in all, we were thrilled to see some of our favorite artists in such an intimate space, but the experience as a whole felt a little chaotic. With some tweaks to crowd control and sound, DC9 could be a killer venue. For now, I’d say it’s worth going—but maybe not for a fully sold-out show.

If you’re looking for a Caribbean/Reggae music, look no further, this is it. The space is really inviting with high ceilings and graffiti/art on the walls. Ordering drinks was a little challenging during the busy times of the night. Although it got busy, there was still room to dance. All in all, fun experience! Highly recommend!

The placed was very crowded so I guess it goes to say the restroom lines would be long but wow. They have a bathroom attendant helping the guests which helped but only a little. The place was packed which is probably because the music and decor are awesome. It's a real cabin feel all the way to the fireplaces on the tv screens. The problem we ran across was getting to the bar. The bartenders were hustling but the bar itself isn't very big against the volume of people inside. I had been here a few times and I liked the vibe, so for one of my friends birthday I decided to get a table for the night. Long story short, booked the spot (which was no small amount) and got treated very poorly throughout the night. At one point when I stepped out, the server came to get someone to pay. This was very early into the night. After we were finished with our bottles, I went to the bar to get another one. While I was at the bar being unattended for, I saw a bottle that looked cool to me. So, I turned it so that I could read the label. One of the bartenders grabbed it and said that I shouldn't touch it and moved it away 2 inches. I tried to turn the bottle again, mind you in a very careful manner just to have it's label face me. The bartender lost it and cussed me off after which she told the 'head' bartender that was about to serve me to not serve me. So after waiting for 5 minutes for my turn at the bar, I was told by the bartender that I have to go to the other end of the club because "she will not serve me". These are just two examples from a night filled with consistent impudence from the staff. What was just meant to be a good time with some of my friends was tainted by aggressively rude service. I have a sour taste left in my mouth after this experience which will most definitely hinder me from getting table service or simply going here for a night out in the future. My issue wasn't that since I was paying so much, they should treat me like royalty. But it was that as a customer, I should at least be treated with some decency... Definitely not a bar that I will recommend to anyone with an ear. If I could, I would give less them than 1 star.
