It was the best food i had on the east coast for the few months we have been here. We got the fried shouk with the mint sauce. It is deep fried mushrooms, pickeled vegetables, crispy lettuce, and tangy mint sauce wrapped up in a fluffy pita bread. The contrast of textures and strong flavores is exactly what I look for in a dish. Everything is vegan and it all looked good but since the first thing we got was so good I didn't want to try anything new the handful of times we went back. The design is pretty well put together with cool wall art, crafty nickn-nacks puzzled together, and a good view of the busy kitchen. The prices were a bit high but well worth it and on par for dc. If they had been lower it would have been hard not to get multiple dishes. The food was pretty fast as well and even though it's in to go containers, they seem compost friendly. Having tried Falafel and Shawarma bowls we wanted to try the sandwiches this time. We Picked fried Shouk'n and Shouk Burger. The place is located in CityCenterDC which is a cute stretch of restaurants and high end shops. The place is small with some outside seating. You order your food and then grab a seat if dining in and they bring your food to you. The staff was amazing and the food was superb. We felt like part of the family and we will definitely come back to eat and see them again. I’m not a vegan, but the food here is amazing! It’s located on H Street in DC, so come early before your reservation to find good street parking. Let's start with the drink menu: cocktails galore for people of all alcohol persuasions, and I personally was super excited by the fact that they have orange wines because so few places in DC do. from what I can tell the menu rotates based on the season, which is great because everything was fresh and interesting. The menu has about 10 options in total, and between me and my one other friend we ordered six dishes which was just more than we could eat in one sitting. The food here is fresh and the portions are healthy. The chicken tastes ans looks like the real thing. I tried the steak and cheese sandwich and while it is very good it doesn't come off as well as the chicken in terms tasting like it's real counterpart but it's still a very good sandwich. The mac n cheese is awesome as were the collards. They give you so much food so you you better bring your appetite. The donuts are delicious and very filling. The flavors are some of the best I've had anywhere. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. There was a line out the door when I got there but it went quick. They only allow six people inside the store at one time, but I think that's good so that you don't feel pressure when you want to take your time selecting your flavor of donut. Highly recommend getting a half dozen or even a dozen. I really enjoyed the pistachio lemon and the blueberry cream filled. One of the best donuts I've ever had plan on going back sometime soon.

By far, this stands as the best experience I had. We got the Harvest menu. The experience started with a refreshing warm and umami drink to cleanse our palates. - The first course was bites and finger food. It was “game-on” statement displaying the variety of flavors and textures. With an Indian background, I was delighted to see the novel usage of some of our native spices / ingredients in new flavors - fermented coriander seeds with turnips, sesame with tomato. - The second was salad with potatoes and greens. Absolutely refreshing. - We then had Old Bread New Bread with butter made from sunflower seeds along with Squash and mushrooms. The bread and butter was so addicting that we had to request our hostess not to take that away and we are holding on that to not get stuffy in stomach. - The next course with “meatless” balls was so comforting. I just couldn’t comprehend how they could do that with eggplant! - It was followed by desserts which were ok (not exceptional to me at least). We also took a wine and juice pairing along with this. Finally last Sunday my son and I drove to this place which is inside a Whole Foods store. Parking is a bit of a hassle. The store parking is almost always full. However there is free (on the weekends) parking garage close by. It’s a pretty futuristic garage with indicators as to which floor has availability spots. They have sensors on each spot which feed into the central console. Pretty cool. Does not seem to be fully accurate though since while going to the 4th floor which it said was the first level with spots available I noticed many open spots on the third floor. Well back to PLNT. The place is great! It has a small and simple menu. Burger, fries, drinks and soft ice cream They order up quickly and give you a device that lights up and vibrates when the order is ready. The service is quite prompt. The burger which I believe is Beyond Meat was great. It’s about half the price of the ones in Founding Fathers and a lot more tastier. The cheese is vegan but hard to tell the difference. The buns are a bit small for the size of the patties, especially if you ordered the double cheeseburger. But I am not complaining! The Union Market is one super busy joint that includes multiple restaurants and eateries and DC Dosa is one among them. People start working on your dosa right after you pick your combination of items that needs to go into your dosa, just like what people do at the Chipotles or the Subways. The dosa making process is not new to south Indians, but looking at it in an American restaurant was enchanting. We ordered the Mung lentil dosa with roasted seasonal vegetables and the cilantro sesame chutney. The dosa is good enough for two people to share as there is so much of filling that goes into the dosa that makes one person feel full easily. The dosa was delicious but I rate this place a star less for the huge filling that’s atypical for the “Masala dosas” that you find in an Indian household or a restaurant and for being higher on the pricey side.

The guy who seated us was great and came by a couple of times to check on us, so we really wished he had been our waiter. The girl who took our order also seemed to be the bartender because when I asked her for just a cheap well vodka with pineapple, I ended up with a drink more expensive than all of the other drinks on the menu. I used to enjoy Bubbies in their DC location before they closed, so I was excited to try the new location. It also melts in your mouth with tenderness. I could not help but pairing it with a Diora Pinot Noir wine. What a great combination it was. Martin’s Tavern therefore became the only restaurant during my stay in DC to which I went back for a second time. Because my cousin wanted to try it after I told him about it. I must recognize that despite how busy the restaurant was when I stepped a foot inside, Ramon managed to shorten my wait time to even less than 10 minutes.
