I usually get the $10 small soup and salad combo at the farmers markets at White House (Thurs) and at City Center (Tue). One stop on my many adventures between DC and MD was this restaurant. And I am glad I did. Me and my guest did not have a reservation so we opted to sit at the bar until a table was available. We went there 11:30sh and most of the food are not getting refilled or they take long to refill. Location: It is located along Massachusetts Avenue. I am obsessed with the creamy kale and potato taco, and I love their orange color hot sauce and I put it on everything they serve. Their black beans are seasoned so well, and I could eat five servings of them right now. Currently you get a trio of tacos for $13.45, and the tacos are not that big so if you're feeling really hungry I definitely recommend getting a side of their green rice or black beans. Delish. It is a cute spot with seating on the lower and upper levels. It tends to get crowded during lunch and dinner times, so plan accordingly to avoid a long wait. Their menu is rather small, and I like that because it is a straightforward kind of place that focuses on doing a few things really well. I ordered a classic Vietnamese cold cut combination and ended up with something that had shredded meat, no cilantro, and a hefty amount of spice. The bread was good but not worth the extended wait/disappointing ingredients.

So delicious! Can't describe how amazing the food was. It looked wonderful and tasted even better! One thing though, I eat a lot of food personally and I would've liked a little more rice. While I waited for the food I talked with John. Really cool guy. We got to talking about why they chose to serve halal food in their restaurant, how they started up "Simply Banh Mi", how far they've come, and if they're going to open another one any time soon. She's full of fun energy and very knowledgeable about the entire menu. Their menu is designed for family style so we ordered a little of everything. Steak Tartar, crab risotto, brussel sprouts, lamb, pork, and scallops. Emily suggested a chenin blanc and a hibiscus margarita which were fantastic. Be sure to save a little room for dessert as the chocolate raspberry chouffait and rhubarb brown butter torte!
