Bar Nero was an incredible experience in every realm of dining, and I will most definitely be going back. First- the environment. This place is huge, but filled with so much character, charm and attention to detail. We love a brick and mortar historical moment. The furniture is antique, the mirrors are epic and the candles bring a charm that we rarely see now a-days. Location is very central and parking is convenient. Second, the service. Wow- I knew the moment I recognized our server from previous outings in YEG that we were in for a treat. He was attentive, incredibly knowledgeable and knew exactly what our group needed. Thank you, Dima (?spelling) for a wonderful experience. I haven’t had such catered service in so long. Your recommendations were on point, and you should be very proud of the cocktails that you created. (We had the Sanguine, Modena, Marmelatta Flip, Sicilian Fizz, Nero Negroni and the Pimiento- and honest to God, they were all dynamite.) You know you have hit the jackpot when right off the bat, several items are calling your attention. The food was very tasty. As I mentioned in my Bianco review from back in August- I am very picky about Italian food, coming from an Italian household. Just like Bianco, Nero did not disappoint. The tomato arancini were PERFECT. Texture was amazing, flavour was even better. We also tried the smoked olives, (gigantic , great portion and so so good) as well as the mushroom toast. (Fresh, yet crunchy.) I cannot wait to try the dinner menu in the dining room, but the options in the lounge did not disappoint. The staff were incredible. The GM was incredible. Upon first arrival, the decor is immaculate. Everything looked beautiful, and the service was really good. Now onto the food, even though it wasn’t on the menu, they made me aperol spritz and my partner got an espresso martini. Both were lovely. We then paired that with two appetizers, one being the Arancini and the other whipped ricotta. Appetizers were really good and they had a lot of options. For mains, we got two pastas.
