The 50 best breakfast and brunch in Zagreb

Went for the acclaimed French toast but on the menu they have scratched through it - our waiter said the cooks said it took too much time but the waiters want them to bring it back because it was so popular. Very limited breakfast menu - also had granola and yoghurt which was better than the eggs pictured.

Was recommended this place, and I tried the Zagreb Breakfast. It was alright. Though I feel the ratio of things was a bit off. It was a lot of salad and bread and very little else. Still tasted good though. Service was alright, but they seemed confused, I put my order in with a waitress and three minutes later a waiter comes to take my order. And the table next to me got their order delivered twice. Someone forgot how to communicate haha. I'd come here again but probably go get something else than the Zagreb breakfast.

Very welcoming elegant, and yet homey type of restaurant near the main square in downtown Zagreb Croatia. The staff here at Otto and Frank is patient, kind and very friendly. I enjoy the egg on toast 😋, since I am Ketovore, I didn't eat the toast. They served coffee but like everywhere in many countries in Europe. They serve lukewarm coffee not hot coffee. You don't get free refills on anything you can order to drink except water. And the larger coffee cups are half the size of the average coffee cup you get in the United States. Half coffee and half warm milk is served everywhere. It doesn't difficult. To find any place that has a normal American size coffee cup. And it's difficult to get anybody to serve coffee steaming hot, which is the way. Coffee is supposed to be But that's the way it is throughout Europe. Lukeworn coffee, that's half coffee half milk. And no refills, unless you pay for each refill. That's my biggest complaint about being able to enjoy coffee while in Europe. But I would recommend Otto and Frank's restaurant to anybody who is visiting Zagreb Croatia.

Tasty breakfast with eggs in a city where egg breakfasts are difficult to find. Only a couple options but both great and both shareable (though we didn’t) if you are just into a light breakfast.

Absolutely delicious breakfast in Zagreb! I had the classic Zagreb breakfast with crispy poached eggs and my partner had two eggs over easy with spicy red peppers. Both meals were exceptional and kept us satisfied all morning!

Good food, good pale ale and good carrot cake. Service is good, unlike other Croatian restaurants we have experienced. Overall a great place to relax and enjoy your food and drink.

On our second day in Zagreb, we went into this restaurant because it offered breakfast all day. We found the interior to be quirky and inviting. Although the menu was not huge, we each zoned in on an appealing choice. I chose the homemade granola with nuts, seeds, fruit and delicious yogurt. My husband had open faced toast with bacon, fried eggs, and creamy feta cheese. We each found our meal to be delicious and satisfying. We also took a homemade oatmeal cookie with fruit and nuts and chocolate as a shared afternoon treat. Quiet, friendly atmosphere with attentive service and yummy food.

A true gem for pasteries and coffee lovers Korica is such a fantastic find! We had breakfast inside and tried a few delicious things. The morning pie with eggs was tasty, though a bit dry. The mini babka with chocolate was to die for — super rich in flavor and so huge we had to share it! My friend had a baguette with ham, which was nice as well. Huge recommendations from me — I had a hard time deciding what to try because everything looked so good!

I love that I came here when they were about to close and they still had lots of freshly baked options. I had a baklava that was SO good 🤩 and a cold brew that came in a can, which surprised me a bit, but it was actually good. the place is beautiful and the girl was really nice.

I was only in Zagreb for a short time but made sure to visit this bakery twice – that’s how good it is! The staff are kind, speak English, and the pastries are absolutely amazing. Yes, the prices are on the higher side, but they’re definitely worth it. Since the place is usually quite busy, I’d recommend going in the morning if you want to avoid the crowd. I also appreciated that they offer free water for everyone. And whatever you do, don’t miss the cinnamon bun!

Decided to try out a bakery for a quick breakfast and was not disappointed. The pastry I had was light and fluffy with delicious cream inside. They also make a nice caffe late. Very friendly service.

Once you get in you can already sent the wonderful smell of freshly baked goods. The service is great. They take time to go through all the sorts of bread they've got always friendly and patient. Pastries are delicious. I'll come back!

Zinfandel is truly a culinary delight! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and sophisticated ambiance that set the perfect tone for the evening. The menu is diverse, featuring an impressive selection of dishes that highlight seasonal ingredients. I started with the roasted beet salad, which was fresh and vibrant, followed by the braised short ribs—simply melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The wine selection is top-notch, with knowledgeable staff who helped me choose the perfect pairing. Service was impeccable; our server was attentive without being intrusive, making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, Zinfandel offers an unforgettable dining experience, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. I’ll definitely be back for more!

Amazing modern restaurant with vintage vibe. Service was amazing and food was beyond expectations. Menu is clean with good selection. Wine list is also excellent. If you are looking for nice place to enjoy your evening you should definitely visit.

Wow that’s how I describe our experience here! Waiter, Lubrov was so welcoming and explains the wine choices and menu. Tony is an amazing waiter too and very informative about the place. Everything from the appetizer, soup, main entrees and dessert were outstanding. We can’t ask for a better way way to start our stay here at the Esplanade.

The food here is of high quality. My husband had the wagyu beef and he loved it. I had the fish and it was tastefully done as well. The ambience and service is great. We had many little complements from the chef as well. We were seated indoors near the windows which felt very secluded and nice with a candlelight.

Excellent dinning experience. We celebrated a significant anniversary here and it did not disappoint.

Food is delicious. No doubt about that. Service was not what you would expect at a Michelin star restaurant. There were a lot of misses. They sent us the wrong dish. We had to ask to fill up our wine glass. I had to pour my own sparkling water because the glass was empty. Just not to the level of what we have experienced at other restaurants with Michelin star. Was it a good restaurant? yes!

I was looking forward to visiting a Michelin one-star restaurant. I particularly enjoyed the sea bass. I felt that the price and taste didn't quite match. The service, however, was fantastic. Given the high price, if asked whether I would go again, I am not sure.

I used to really love this place and came here at least twice a week but then they changed the menu from casual lunch and finger food to some kind of overpriced fine dining which doesn’t match the vibe of this place at all. recently they brought back a few meals from the previous menu, which was mostly perfect so I ordered something I used to love before which is duck spring rolls and the super food salad with shrimps. The duck spring rolls came unrecognisable. I will provide in the pictures below how it looked before and how it looks now. Along with the much smaller portion size those spring rolls are the top five worst things I’ve ever tasted in my life from outside they are dry and from inside they are so tasteless. The best way to describe taste is if you bought them frozen on a gas station and then microwaved them at home. The salad was okay, I would previously I would previously rate it as a 10/10 but now it’s like 8/10 it’s just a slightly bit different

The eggs Benedict were disappointingly bland, and the English muffin/bun was dry, making this place seem overrated. While the coffee was decent, there are plenty of better breakfast spots in Zagreb worth exploring.

Great. A lovely place right next to the slopes leading up to the Upper Town of Zagreb — serves great food, and makes nice drinks. Served on a beautiful patio or sit inside, with the scrambled eggs I had being nicely soft and coming with a portion of cream cheese and some toasted bread. Service was great and friendly.

I just wanted to use this Summer day... Saturday lunch, my favourites Spritz aperol+ Tatar beef on homemade focaccia...😋 fast service, in a quite street, full terrace and still you can enjoy on your own. Thank you Dežman team.

Excellent spot for cocktails. The menu has a selection of well-known cocktails from around the world and also some house-made ones. Nice indoor space with great outdoor seating as well. Highly recommended for a drink. Average drink price is about 50 Kuna per drink.

Perfect little place hidden from city traffic. Tasty finger food (try tuna pate, it is amazing), and the best cocktails in the city. Strongly suggest moscow mule and dark and stormy. Great for coffee or night out. Wonderful staff. Go and check it out😉😍

They say one of the best, if not THE best bakery in Croatia. Everything is handmaded, with best and of course local ingredients. Unfortunately I had only 10HRK in my pocket which is only enough for, as I see, deliciously looking croissant 🥐which is 9HRK. Can't remember have I ever seen expensier one. But luckily they accept credit/debit cards, so I couldn't resist not to take pizza cut🍕. It was 15HRK, nice example of Romana dough, meaning you will get fat pizza. Last and only time I tried Romana was in USA and it was gross. This one? Fantastic. Pizza was more cold then warm, but It was very good. Tomato sauce one of the best ever I tried on pizza from bakery. And ham, cheese, mushrooms all good. I will be back here, to try something other which they offer. So yes, it's in higher payroll, but with quality we can say comes the price, too.😎💪

Probably the best craft bakery in Zagreb. It's always very busy and often you have to wait outside in a queue. While you're waiting, you can watch through the window how everything is made. The pastries are very tasty and juicy, and too sweet. The bread is delicious and crunchy. Unfortunately, there is no delivery or dining in. Their other shop in Palmotićeva has a terrace and offers dining in.

If you are looking for a quality, you just found yourself a right place! Bread club is offering premium bakery products which are extremely delicious but at the same time healthy. Both sweet and sour choices will always be fresh and delicious.

This place is just for buying breads & pastries, not for coffee. You could notice that this shop is very popular. We passed by it at about 10:30 a.m. and a lot of things were already gone. So be there early or be square;) I had a chocolate cruffin (3,7€). The cruffin was chocolatey and the chocolate cream filled inside was quite sweet. The cruffin dough was somehow tougher than I expected it to be (I tried cruffins from the breab club near dolac an year ago and there were better)...maybe I just had bad luck at that day. I would still like to visit bread crub when I visit Zagreb next time and would like to try other pastries or breads.

One the best bakery in town. Love to eat cruffin with pistachios, and croassant with mortadela. Bread you can eat for 7 days, and it's still fresh!

I visited with my friends in September 2021 and must say of all 29 countries I've been to and having grown up London, this bakery has one of the best pastries I've ever enjoyed! The service from the two lovely ladies were impeccable! Open one in London, you won't regret it!

Everything I tried so far was great. The bread is very delicious, some is quite expensive but definitely worth to try. Sourdough pizza is excellent. Pastry is very delicious, strawberry danish and elderflower croissant are a must try.

This little pastry shop was on my radar for quite a while. I'm so happy I finally visited Meet Mia because it was delightful! The atmosphere is wonderful, very easy to talk, and the cakes we got were outstanding. They were a bit on the pricer side, but worth it in my opinion. I highly recommend this place!

this is a very conveniently located cafe at zagreb city center, very close to a parking garage. at our first night in zagreb, we wanted to take a walk across the center but it was very cold and late, only a few places were open. we got lucky by visiting here. it turned out to be a very nice refuge. we got a slice of pie which was delicious. also got some herb tea. the only staff member left at that hour was very kind.

Delicious food and wonderful desserts. We ate brunch here and finished out the day with James Bond and Queen Niki. A great place to gather with girlfriends or the special woman in your life.

Very nice, cozy cafe that is very busy and great for brunch. There is a variety of different high quality and tasty tarts and croissants, but also delicious savory dishes on the menu. The No Name tartlet was excellent and the raspberry vanilla croissant was to die for. The croissant was flaky, fluffy and very moist - not too sweet, just perfect. The prices were perfectly fine. I can definitely recommend going there.

Great, little place to stop and have some refreshments, coffee or dessert - or why not all? They certainly serve some really good and tasty desserts. The place is really cute and modern at the same time. They have a modern look on the inside and a flowery, chic one for the outside seating. The prices are really good for that part of the town, for the quality of the products and service. The staff is nice and hospitable; they speak English and are quick with a recommendation if you're not sure what to get. We had some cake and sandwiches and everything was exquisite. It's definitely a place that we'll be revisiting again when we'll be in Zagreb.

Broom 44 in Zagreb is a delightful find — cozy, bright, and minimalist, with fresh vegetarian and vegan brunch options pulled straight from the nearby Dolac market.  The food is creative yet comforting (think avocado bruschetta, shakshuka, flatbreads) and beautifully presented.  Coffee (including plant-milk variants) is a standout, and staff are friendly and laid-back.  It can get busy, so arrive early — portions are moderate and prices lean a bit high, but the quality makes it worth a stop.

We had breakfast at Broom44, a lovely café right in front of Dolac Market in Zagreb. It was absolutely amazing, one of the best breakfasts we have had on our trip! The staff were warm and professional, even though there was a small misunderstanding about seating, they handled it so kindly and with a smile. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Now I completely understand why there’s a queue outside in the morning. Highly recommended for a perfect start to the day!

Easily the best breakfast spot in Zagreb and one of the best I’ve been to in my life. Great food, amazing service and perfect location right next to the market. I recommend to get there right as they open because it does get busy but even so it’s worth the wait!!!!

Amazing brunch/breakfast spot! Made with very fresh ingredients. I got the burrata and sat right next to the kitchen at a shared table since I was alone. I love when you can taste the good quality ingredients.

Cafe is relatively easy to find with some parking on nearby streets. The cafe itself is slightly small inside with a few tables but has a nice area out the front with a lot of extra tables. The staff are really lovely and very helpful. The menu is extensive and really has something for everyone! Even though the menu is large they seemingly do everything very well! Both our meals were absolutely delicious! I also had an earl grey tea which come in this very cool pot! Overall a great restaurant! Would certainly return!

We had an amazing brunch at Balance Bakery in Zagreb! The food was fresh, beautifully served, and full of flavor. The service was fast and genuinely warm — the staff were absolutely wonderful and made us feel so welcome. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, perfect for a weekend brunch or coffee with friends. Tasty food, especially the balanced breakfast. The croissants have a nice bite and aren't too sweet. Coffee was good. At 9 on a Sunday it wasn't too crowded, but it started getting more and more crowded as we were leaving around 10.

Walked from old town to try the croissants. Not bad but a little too moist. It was early afternoon so they were just sitting out a little from the morning. Almond had good flavour. No decaf options here so I tried the vanilla latte. Not bad.

A nice old-style high end hotel, in a central location. Particularly good breakfast and a Michelin recommended restaurant. Definitely the food and cocktails were memorable. The room felt dated: hairdryer must have been as old as the hotel, no complementary water, no electric curtains. Price was too high for what it actually compared to other 5 star hotels worldwide. Staff was polite.

This was a nice hotel for our stay in Zagreb in June 2025. The hotel is a bit dated but we enjoyed the room that was allocated to us. It was comfortable and well appointed. The main reason I gave this 4 star is because the breakfast was just ok. On this particular trip, the breakfast was probably the least enjoyable. My recommendation would be to stay here when in Zagreb but grab breakfast elsewhere.

Just had a lovely lovely stay at the iconic Esplanade. From check in to check out we had the best service. We had 2 rooms one on the 2nd and one on the 4th floor both huge spacious and luxurious. Welcome note on the desk and digitally on the TV was a nice touch. Delicious chocolate and espresso by Ily complimentary. We dined at zinfandel, Bistro and had drinks at the bar everything we ate was exceptional. Highly recommend a stay here.

We stayed here in August of 2025, and we had an incredible experience. We had gotten engaged the day we came in and the staff sent up a bottle of wine that same night as a courtesy. The staff was very friendly and the concierge gave us great recommendations for things to do and places to eat at in Zagreb. The hotel itself is stunning, and the rooms were classic and comfortable. I will be back the next time I am in Zagreb.

A lot of history happened here. The architecture is so beautiful many weddings are done here. Jon The concierge was so pleasant and helpful! The breakfast was not as I expected, the choices were superior in southern Croatia. But the location was perfect. I inquired as to the safety, due to the unbelievable amount of graffiti, coming from LA and the territorial markers, they told me there were no gangs and it was very safe. I did see many women walking alone.

I went to the Esplanade Hotel to dine at Le Bistrot, but the experience was ruined before I even sat down. When I entered, I left my umbrella at the hotel entrance like any normal person would because it was dripping wet and there was no stand or bucket for it. A staff member suddenly followed me through the lobby, confronted me, and told me l “you cannot just leave it there.”Apparently, dripping water all over their marble floor is more acceptable than placing a closed umbrella by the door. For all I care, they could’ve thrown it into the street, it’s just an umbrella. To make matters worse, I was momentarily confused about the restaurant’s location and accidentally walked into another one inside the hotel. The waiter there looked absolutely miserable, barely acknowledged me, and seemed annoyed that I even asked a question. Not exactly the kind of hospitality you expect from a so called five star hotel. The whole interaction felt unnecessarily rude and pretentious. There’s nothing elegant or luxurious about policing guests over trivial things. The staff act like they’re guarding a palace, when in reality, this kind of behavior just screams tacky provincial snobbery. Ironically, the only truly polite people were at Le Bistrot itself. It’s rather funny to see such entitlement and condescension from people whose daily wage is probably lower than the price of a single dish in the hotel restaurant.

I’m not sure in what world this hotel is a 5 star hotel - but it’s not this one. From the start, we received a rude welcome at the front desk where we were greeted by an off-putting woman who laughed at us for saying we enjoyed Slovenia where we had just come from. Upon entering our room, a deluxe room, it smelled like cigarettes and was more worn out than a 30 year old Days Inn. Peeling wallpaper, chipped and damaged wood furniture and a TV that was so dated it couldn’t utilize the smartTV functions and would turn off after 2 minutes of watching anything. After flushing the toilet, we were also greeted by 20 mins of dripping water sounds after it was flushed - which is great when the bed is right next to the bathroom. Absolutely nothing about this hotel is 5 stars (it’s a 2 star at the absolute best) and I would encourage everyone to avoid this place like the plague. The only positive is the location, but that’s far outweighed by all of the negatives.

Kavkaz has one of the most beautiful interiors I’ve ever seen - absolutely outstanding! There are plenty of seating areas, and the music perfectly matches the overall atmosphere of the place. The coffee I had was also very tasty. I’d definitely visit this place again!

We arrived in Zagreb late and was lucky to find this restaurant still open, but it was packed with customers. The young lady was very polite and asked us to return in half an hour, which we did and our table was ready. All of our selections were fresh and tasted excellent. The Croatian wine was also very good. The service was excellent as well with all staff we met spoke English well. This is a great place for people who wants to try Croatian food. Highly recommended.

A good place with a magnificent view of the theater. Coffee and food are delicious. But if you sit on the terrace, the service is very slow. You will wait a long time for the waiter and just as long for the bill.

Was so excited to visit this brunch bar as a person with coeliac. I had a chicken panini and took a few of the cheese flavoured tapioca sticks/balls. the food was delicious and so nice to be able to choose any options. the staff were friendly and the prices were decent. would visit again.

I had a lovely snack at this place and the food was super tasty. Bought some snacks for the way and am absolutely gutted I didn't buy more because the biscuits were delicious! It is a small space, so that's something to keep in mind. The service was great too, will definitely be returning when I'm back in the city!

A lifesaver for the “gluten free gang” that needs a quick bite on the go (and God knows how hard those are to come by). Super tasty and affordable sandwiches, and the saleswoman was so nice to give me a few tips regarding my dietary restrictions, a topic she had plenty of knowledge on. I really appreciated the wholesome service and warmth. Sadly I forgot to take a picture of the actual sandwich, but look how cute the packaging is. :)

I ate zlevanka with too much turmeric added, overseasoned komiska pie and a small tapioca sandwich. I used to eat there every now and then, order via Wolt and loved their food, but it's definitelly not as good as it used to be. The portions are smaller. The seller seemed quite cold and reserved

It’s a tiny cute cafe although there are only 2 vegan options, a veggie sandwich and a raw ball. I would be very happy with this if they didn’t have vegan signs as advertisement both inside and outside. With all the signs the limited options were a bit of a disappointment.

What can I say....had the best.gluten free poppyseed and chocolate cake, and cherry crumble ever! They were delicious,.moist and full of flavour. And the young girl who served us was so pleasant. Thank you so much, worth the travel from Australia 🇦🇺

A very cozy small place with great food. It is great for a quick breakfast or snack, and takeaway. Since it is very small it is not that comfortable go sit inside on the only available table, but it has a lot of charm.

Visited here a few times whilst in Zagreb on holiday. The service and food was excellent. The English speaking young girl was particularly helpful.

It looks good on the pictures but its very small in person. You can grab a bite and go. Non suitable for vegans or vegetarians and it is not healthy cuisine. Mostly meats, fat sandwiches and bread. We went because the place tagged itself as vegan and vegetarian friendly. It is not.

SO GOOD! We were in Zagreb for a couple days and almost missed this place, so glad we didn’t because the mixed kebab wrap was delicious and so is the garlic sauce with the fries! Yum! The staff was also super friendly! Thanks for the great meal

lovely employees and great food! i got a vegan 'chicken' wrap and absolutely enjoyed it. it tasted fresh, the seasoning being nicely balanced yet not too spicy. portion sizing was great, too! sadly, the place offers no sit-in options, but if you happen to be hungry and on the go in zagreb, i would absolutely recommend stopping by! 🌞

I've been eating vegan since 5 years now and this was definetly the best burger I ever had! The patty was really juicy and the cheese tasted like the real thing. There was only take out available when we were there though but there's a little park nearby where you can eat!

We had the Cheesko and on of the wraps (forgot which one). They were both very very tasty and the service was more than i could ask for. The food was ready in under 10 minutes. It was actually the best burger i had so far. 10/10 recommend.

One of the main attractions of Zagreb but it’s much smaller than I expected. Beautiful fresh and cut flowers and lavender being sold there, but apparently some flower vendors don’t allow photography of their flowers while some are very happy and proud when you take photos. I can definitely see that some of the flower vendors are an expert green thumb! Aside from this, one of the flower vendors suddenly moved in front of me strongly pushed down my phone mid-photograph and said something to me but I didn’t understand what she was saying. She also did that to other people in front of her stall. I wasn’t blocking her flower stall, just standing at the side to take a photo of her roses. She was not selling creative flower arrangements but cut roses in buckets like everyone else so I had presumed that photography was okay. Perhaps it would be better for the these vendors to put a small sign up saying that photography was not allowed since they are not comfortable with it; at least tourists would be aware of this. This interaction left a bad mark on the whole flower market experience. Besides this, I bought colourful wool socks from a lovely lady vendor who proceeded to give me a proper printed receipt for this…I’m not sure if receipts are the norm in this market since she was the only one who gave me a printed receipt. She also sold baskets and toys and woollen shoes which were all very pretty. A lot of vendors selling berries here: the blackberries, raspberries and cranberries were all very fresh and affordable.

Great local food market starts from early morning till early afternoon (06:30-14:00). You can get fruit and veg by the kilo for just 2–3 euros. If you enjoy a good bargain, arrive around 13:30, you might find large quantities of produce for just €1 each. Everything is very fresh and high quality. There are also some great local restaurants nearby.

Great markets. From flowers to honey fruits of the day. Also check out the meat and cheese sections that are below ground. Some cool souvenir shops as well. Stop have a coffee and take it all in. Great place for tourists

A local market where you can buy fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, flowers, and more. Prices are reasonable, and the vendors are friendly. Shops start gradually opening around 7 AM. We bought fruit at a great price and enjoyed it throughout the trip :)

It's fun to walk around, of course if you want things there's a lot of vegetables, fruits, flowers and souvenirs. A few cafes line the market which are great for coffee or drinks. Many walkable streets in the vicinity.

It's a local bazaar, but small and not that great or inviting like other bazaars. There are mostly food vendors like meat buttlers, fruits and vegetables, bakeries, florists, and other shops. It's not worth visiting for tourists.

If you like cakes this is y place in Zagreb 😃 They got COSTA coffee as well!!! And great matcha latte. The ice cream are very good too. Large menu to choose from a tasty cake to lunch and dinner. The place is very clean and the staff are very nice. They have got a great variety of cakes with plenty of fresh fruits, nuts, chocolate, cheese cakes, croissants, etc It would be nice to put the ingredients in English 😉, please. Plenty of space to seat inside or outdoors. I couldn’t see a disabled toilet. The toilets are downstairs.

Love their egg florentine. Very tasty sauce with fresh and lots of spinach and tomato. Decent quality smoked salmon and cucumber croissant. A very busy place at the center of Zagreb, so be patient with their service. They are nice and helpful once they have the time.

We really enjoyed our visit to Oranž Bistro & Wine Bar. We managed to get a table on the covered terrace, even though it was raining. We also absolutely loved the interior's look—it had a fantastic, stylish design, and we'd definitely want to sit inside next time! The food was great; the salad was fresh and the hamburger tasty. The only minor point was the service. Given how busy they were, it was a little slow at times. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it's worth noting. Overall, Oranž is a place with a wonderful atmosphere and good food.

Stopped by for some ice cream and it was fantastic. The place has a great vibe with nice music, and the staff were really friendly. Definitely a good spot.

The cakes were really delicious and served in generous portions. Perfect for a casual evening or a night out with friends, with well-prepared food and attentive service.

Friendly service, amazing coffee and a huge variety of delicious cakes and other desserts. The prices are fair too, so I can only recommend this place when you come to Zagreb.

Misleading marketing! 🚫🚫🚫 I ordered online and was supposed to get a discount for my cola and coffee. 1 euro less. I did everything as instructed on the website. However, I was charged full price. When asked waiter how is that possible he said " duck it " 🤷‍♂️😒 What kind of impolite and unprofessional service is this? I will not bankrupt for 1 euro, but the shame is on you and your bar now. Was it worth it?

Nice designed location in the center of Zagreb. You can have also something to eat (the menu is not offering a lot, but the food is tasty). It has got a big terrace with a nice view over the square. Prices are not very low but I think they are worthy.

This place is Big and spacious has a nice terrace facing the main square, inside the upper floor is a restaurant dedicated for tapas and wine bar called Sol, you must reserve before to come in… the place gets busy and loud at night. Coffee is very good. Service was polite you can pay with card or cash. Toilets need attention were dirty

I like the Johann Franck Café a lot, because I think it's very classy. Located right on the famous Ban Jelačić Square, it's the perfect spot for spending a little time, enjoy some food and drinks and watch the people walk by. We went there twice: One time we had some snacks during the day and the other time we enjoyed some cocktails. Everything was fine, and we liked the cocktails a lot. Only the staff seemed a bit inattentive.😉

Very rude female waitresses. They ignored me several times even though they saw me waive my hand to let them know I wanted to order until a male waiter saw me and came to take my order. I came in a sunny Sundy afternoon, and the place was packed full. I ordered flat white and sparkling water. The flat white was average. Nothing special.

Beautiful garden overlooking the square in the city center. We waited 10 minutes for waiter to come to take the order. I even called one, but he didn't respond. They should go around the tables in the first row more offten and see who is coming and going. Payment is by cash or card. Caffee should renovate the toilet because it is really a shame for a bar like this to have such a toilet.

Good place for a sit and a chat in the very center of Zagreb. It always has been. Lovely card with exciting drinks. Pity not all is available. The staff is a bit too relaxed.

If you look for a delicious pancakes this place you can take into consideration. Why not 5/5, well I ordered dark pancake. My friends ordered normal white pancakes. When I tasted both I can say mine was a bit raw...you know that feeling when you eat something which is not fried like it should be. Well, this was case here. Didn't wanna complain to much, but you have been warned. Go with white pancake and everything should be OK. If I could choose I would rate this place 4.5, but we can only choose between 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 stars. Once I had breakfast here, it was wonderful. Atmosphere is relaxing, design of interior is great. Observe cookies attach to ceiling. They have outdoor terrace, so no need to sit inside if weather is nice and warm. You can thank me later. Btw. We came for desert, for the sweet creps, but stayed pleasantly surprised with salty ones. Do not miss fried ones with kulen and prsuto.

It's true what they're talking about this place lately. Pancakes here reflect their interior: pretty on the outside, empty within. They serve empty pancakes and molten "ice" cream, folded a couple of times, with a splatter of whatever you ordered on top, for 5€ apiece. Empty and dry. Don't bother ordering a filling and a topping, hoping you'll get a filled pancake, because they'll just put everything in a thin layer on top. The sad thing is, every time it's a lottery. One time they could be filled and lure you for the next time, the next time they're empty and dry like bread. I guess it depends on how the students filling them up are feeling that day. Customer care is abysmal, with them knowing about the bad reviews and not really caring, as long as they turn a profit. I won't name any, but google some other creperies and you won't be disappointed there :)

Very cute place with plenty of variety of sweet and salad food. Nicely decorated and with an space dedicated to kids so they can play.

Delicious pancakes with so much toppings to choose from. I dare you not to exaggerate :) The interior is full of details and cakes on the ceiling are their signature interior move. Very cosy place. It was quite crowded when we got there but we didn't wait for too long. The only downside is the price, because it can get quite expensive if you go overboard with the toppings, but it was very well worth it :)

The location was great right in the heart of city in a pedestrian zone but only 100 meters away from main road. All the facilities like restaurants, bars, shopping, main sight seeing attractions were within walking distance. The reception staff was nice enough to give an early check-in.The room was very good on top floor facing Jelacic Square. It was very neat and clean and so was the bathroom. The lobby was good with a bar. We only had breakfast in our one day stay at the the hotel and it was as good as in a bigger hotel. The best part of our stay was the service at front desk. They always looked happy and cheerful and were extremely helpful with their expert advice on Zagreb. Worth staying !!

The location of this hotel is great. It’s right in the center of everything and quite close to the museum of broken relationships. The room was incredibly spacious with lots of windows and a great bathroom. Lots of food and drink nearby too. For parking, I parked at Garage cvjetni (Varšavska ulica 9, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia) using bmove ticketless. Super easy to park and only a short walk to the hotel.

The service is great. Amazing breakfast! But the single rooms are not as portrayed on www.booking.com photos! I would leave a video, but don't know how. If needed then reply and I will send it to you personally, so you can make sure what I am talking about. And I had to pay so much extra money so I could get larger room.

A fabulous hotel. The location was perfect and really central and a great car park about 5mins away. The rooms are really large, the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. There was a huge breakfast buffet, with an enormous choice. Everyone was incredibly helpful and friendly. Very highly recommended

The best experience. Very tidy, comfortable rooms, balcony overlooking Adriatic Sea, great breakfasts, which are included in the price. Love the comfy lounges on the beach. Very friendly personnel.

The room was a bit old fashioned, and the bathroom a bit worn out. Very loud air con system which was quite old too. The air con is fixed into the ceiling and does not have many options to operate. Did the job, though. The breakfast was amazing. Service was lovely. Location 10/10.

This is in the center of everything. Right in the heart of the city. Caution though, the stores around the area hike their price on things. The hotel is great and the staff are very nice. I havent tried their breakfast yet, but I heard it is good.

Great caffe bar located on the Cvjetni trg. The coffe we ordered was nice aswell as the mulled red wine. It is even better to sit here when it is sunny. Service fast and great.

We asked to pay card, but waiters insisted on paid cash. High price, overrated place with terrible service. Not recommended. "Prosecco" like an odecolone" ))) it's better not to even try. 12 euro.

We waited for the waitress a little longer to come for the order, but she was kind when we asked her which wine she recommended. She typed the cash bill, although now the bill can be paid by card. When we told her that we didn't bring the cash and that she must first ask how we pay, she said that we have an ATM around the corner so we can withdraw money, which is rude. She has not yet learned how to use a card machine and thinks that we don't know it is possible to pay by card. She called a colleague so he came to help her to charge the bill. Wine was good. Saturdy night, it was crowded and DJ was playing good music.

They asked us to pay in advance. We decided not to say anything and observe around us. After much observation, it was clear that we only paid in advance because we are too tanned for them. All other customers paid after being served. And on top of that, two of the three employees watched us the whole time, we were not comfortable at all.

Bloody good burger and a beer for 50 kuna. No complaints. Vegan burger also offered and is excellent!

Be careful to check the price before you order. The price on the menu is not what they will charge you. And if you ask why, they get angry …

Warm, cozy nice place. Has better breakfast than most of the places. Prices are reasonable. Good for children and good for resting. Also good for reading, studying. For smokers they have outside tables.

We came here with a big group as a part of a student exchange. The owner welcomed us personally and served us a wide array of amazing Croatian food – prices for drinks etc. were more than fair too. Whenever in Zagreb, I will definitely come back!

A cute place known for its brunch and pancakes (they even have a pancake-making course). On the weekends breakfast is served until 12:00, on other days until 11:00. We ordered omelette and toast. The omelette was a little soggy and watery, but otherwise very tasty. The toast was almost cold. The service, on the other hand, is very quick and friendly. And the terrace is peaceful and ample.

I thought I looked everywhere in search of a Croque Madame in Zagreb and was beginning to give up on the search when I accidentally stumbled upon this sweet little place on the east side of the city. Offering a very wide variety of options, both sweet and savoury, this place is perfect for a brunch date, or just somewhere to go when you're in need of a hearty, filling breakfast and don't feel like making it yourself. The staff is very friendly, the space is fairly small but extremely sweet and homey and the food is tasty and eye-pleasing. Will be visiting again to try out other things from the menu!

Such a gem near Maksimir Park! Visit it when you are near by, but its also worth a trip across Zagreb! I was there twice already once with the family and friends and once with a group of 13 and everything was delightful. The place is charming, the coffee is good, the food is amazing! I was especially pleasantly surprised when I was there with a group and we all good our meals at the same time, warm and fresh! Oh and they have mimosas <3.

A bit tacky and expensive, probably one to miss as a tourist but maybe one for local students. Was pretty busy with a bit of an atmosphere but not as much as you would expect for a place so busy. I wouldn't specifically say not to go but it definitely wouldn't be one I'd recommend as there are some other great local bars.

This place is very unique has some amazing pieces of art.... as well as the menu. I’m Peruvian and for this first time I tried a fantastic chocolate Inca tea. I must say I Was fascinated with the unique flavour. The waiter was so nice as professional he knew it all the menu by heart. Definitely I recommend to visit this place.

The WORST place ever. I was there around 11pm last night as a single asian woman. When I was drinking a beer on the chair near by AC, a guy who was working nearby front door suddenly came to me and kept touching and rubbing my thighs, with a weird random excuses like he will bring some chairs to me, which I never needed. It was really horrible. He didn't even do it just one time. He came back and did once again. How could this even happen? DISGUSTING

Easily my favourite bar in Zagreb, perhaps even the entire Balkans. Very attentive bar staff who remembered my drink every night I came back, great atmosphere - particularly after midnight - and brilliant music. You can’t ask for more from a bar.

Very lively late night bar just off Ban Jelačić Square in Zagreb City Centre. Cheap drinks & fast service. Open until 4am. Highly recommended.

The place is great. The locals are lovely. The staff are really friendly and the music is spot on! Closing at 4am is a bonus too, although I noticed the influx of people after 2am when all the other bars close. I’d recommend it for sure!

Very nice and friendly staff. Drinks were the least expensive in Zagreb. Only downside is allowing people to smoke in the bar, seems to be common in Croatia however.

The bakery offers variety of pastries. The ones we tried were pretty tasty. There are two high tables where you can eat inside. For the sendwiches they offer free ketchup and mayo and they also warm up the sandwich.

They provide service 7/24 This is the great version of “burek”. Lots of layers….. If you are a “burek” lover like me, you should definitely try this flavor. 😋

They have a great variety. The burak is very nice. They have little counters inside to eat which is very helpful. No tea or coffee though.

I love the owner of the bakery and his son is very charming, I love the products and also the employees. Thank you Romaja for working 24 hours a day when noone else would. I would strongly recommend their pizza for 3in1 quality, quantity and pricing, 10kn for the biggest slice of pizza you've ever seen! 5/5 ❤

Probably the best place outside a hotel to have breakfast while in Zagreb. Interior is fresh, staff is SUPER friendly, and the food is well worth it even if it is a bit pricey. On the downside, it gets very hot inside during spring and summer. Plan and go early for a great breakfast.

By far the best speciality cafe in the west of town. Their Arabica blends and single origins are perfectly roasted and balanced to fit (and elevate) the taste of general public and coffee aficionados alike. Service is impeccable, friendly and they simply can't hide their enthusiasm for what the do so well - you really feel welcome every time. And you can have your bike fixed as well! Can one ask for more? P.S: I haven't found it noisy at all.

Pure ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ place. It's something special if you are fan of cycling because it combines bikes, bikeservis, books together with specialty coffee,craft beers and energy bars. Cherry on top of it all is friendly and professional service from the working staff.

Great bike and coffee shop whose well-traveled owner is an excellent resource, for anything related to cycling, Croatian history, and the state of things in Europe and beyond. Highly recommend!

Slow service, but coffee is good, they also have a variety of plant based milks. I used to come here often for working, it was never a problem. However, today I asked the staff to lower the volume a bit because it was very loud. They were very rude and said this is not an office. I did not ask the music to be tuned off (as it would be in an office), but the volume slightly decreased. With this attitude you will deter anyone who wants to do anything meaningful while having a coffee like working, reading or having a nice conversation. You should recognise that more and more people use cafés for working and seeing cafés as exclusively places to have (loud) talks is a very limited way of thinking. I don't think that other guests would have minded had the music been less loud. There are luckily many nice cafés in the area that recognise this trend and adapt to the needs of their customers.

What a lovely place to sit with close family, friends or a partner. Hurray! for your independent thinking and open mind. You surely enrich Zagreb food scene, by choosing organic ingredients and healthy food. The dishes are colorful, attractive, and delicious. The desserts are delicious and not too sweet. Continue this way and spread your word!

Best latte I’ve had in Croatia!!! I’m not sure if they use a different kind of milk or what but it was SO good. And same thing about their yogurt bowl - the fruit was pretty sour which is a nice contrast to the honey, and the rye granola was a nice touch!! I wish I could come here everyday

We heard about this place from a famous Greek chef who featured it in his travel show, and it definitely has a reputation for serving authentic Croatian breakfast. The ingredients come straight from their own farms, which makes it even more special. Unfortunately, we arrived just before closing, but still managed to have a coffee and try their signature zucchini and multigrain pie — simple, traditional, and very tasty. Would love to come back earlier in the day to experience the full menu.

Salo is a lively and cozy spot in Zagreb, always busy and popular with locals. It can feel a bit disorganized, but the food makes up for it. We had the štrukle (a must-try in Zagreb) and the scrambled eggs—both fresh and very tasty. Great place for a local experience!

Cute little gem 💎 I ordered the cappuccino, and strukle my friend also ordered the toast along with a pastry I wished I knew the name. It was very busy and only one person was working. She did a phenomenal job helping every one and getting their orders promptly.

Such a cute little cafe in a beautiful setting. All food is delicious, taste home made and almost all options are vegetarian! I had the granola which was amazing, with so much flavour, wow! And a delicious kale pie. Definitely don't miss out on this place when you're in Zagreb!

I love the vibe of this place. Amazing design and you just feel like you are not in Zagreb. Coffee is excellent. I’d give this a 5* but the music was a bit too loud (most people there were working/studying, but even if you are just having coffee with friends it might be a bit difficult to talk) and the prices are a bit high. Service was okay, nothing special.

Cogito is a very cool coffee spot. I went here for a brunch but not actually much of a brunch place 😅 they had only three options so I wouldn’t recommend it if you are looking for a brunch but the place and coffee is super cool and worth a visit. But if you would like a tasty snack with your coffee, Cogito breakfast is quite delicious😋

Very cute place, crowded with young people, not on the main street so it is not that noisy. The coffee definitely tastes different from what we are all used to, but I would definitely recommend trying it! Haven't tried the food, but it looked very nice.

Cogito has the best coffee in Zagreb, and this specific place is the one I prefer because of the interior design. An urban place that’s great if you want to meet up for a cup of coffee, a casual business meeting or you just want to sit by yourself and do some work or chill. The staff is nice, friendly and professional, and the coffee is amazing! They offer non-dairy options, so it’s great for vegans, too. Take notice that the entrance is not directly from the street, but you have to go through a passage in the building.

One of the best specialty coffee shop in Zagreb, they have really nice breakfast sandwiches and also this place is perfect to work a bit with your laptop. Hrvoje is the best barista! :)

You must try the banana bread. They have an amazing brunch. The staff is superb. And yes, they even have decaf coffee in addition to all these amazing drinks.

I sat there just to have a bite before the next meeting. I had a salmon croissant sandwich and I enjoyed every bite. I continued working, the next meeting got delayed... so I continued working some more, not noticing the time passing, but I did notice the weather was so nice and the music the caffe played was right up my alley 🙂 I ended up having the fluffiest pancakes I ever had here in Zagreb, with banana and apple slices and blueberries. Stopped off for a late breakfast, had the scrambled egg on toast, it was excellent. Had a few good craft beers. Staff friendly and helpful. Prices were very good

Not the place to drink a coffee. Simple espresso with no sugar and it was not good. Reply to the owner's comment. The taste was not good! No sugar means I drink the coffee pure with nothing else so it only depends on the quality of the coffee or the preparation. And the outcome was not good. Felt a little like boiled coffee with a burn aftertaste.

Great location, presentation, service, and taste. Absolutely fell in love with Jupi after finding the other more popular brunch spots really crowded. We got the french toast, scrambled eggs, and losos toast. It was all delicious and priced to our advantage. Plus, the service was fast and the food came out quickly. Our server was very friendly as well.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this place deserves a warning label. The food was fine (I guess), but the waitresses completely ruined the experience. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we were bothering them just by existing. No smiles, no greetings – just eye rolls and sighs like we had interrupted their day. Honestly, if I wanted to be treated like garbage, I’d stay home and argue with my cat. Zero stars if I could. Avoid unless you enjoy being served by people who clearly hate their job and you.

Chocolate like you never seen before. A part of a chain, this shop opened in our neighborhood just recently and it didn't dissapoint. Lots of chocolate products anywhere from hot chocolate, chocolate chip cookies to all sorts of make it yourself pancakes. Great place for kids and first dates 😀

A small place that’s easy to miss (I know because I passed it by while looking for it). It's so tiny that inside there are only three seats at a counter. The guy working there was extremely polite and friendly. The menu is straightforward—you either create your own bowl just the way you like it, or you choose from one of the recipes. You pick a container, and the staff quickly prepares it for you. I should mention, though, that the type of container isn't very convenient for eating, as the ingredients are layered. Nonetheless, it was a tasty bowl, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys this type of food.

Highly ironic that some of the best McDonald's I've ever had was outside of the US. I've had meals delivered that were arranged with an almost Japanese level of neatness and presentation. What's not great is adding a ramp to the toilet entry, where you have to pay 1€ or scan your receipt. The customers are constantly having issues scanning the code. It's annoying. These anti-homeless devices always only hurt the paying customers and makes the owners look like greedy, capitalist trash.

The waiters are rude and insolent, and it feels like they are doing you a favor by serving you. We had to remind them about our order several times, and even then, the food arrived cold and incorrect. Moreover, some waiters clearly don't care about hygiene — I noticed them touching food with bare hands and not washing their hands after using their phones. This is unacceptable for an establishment that respects its customers. Overall impression — a complete lack of care for visitors and cleanliness. Excellent cakes and great cake selection. I'm not really sure how they fare on the gluten-free and vegan friendly cakes but what they do have is just delicious! The staff is friendly and polite, everything is clean and the prices are around mid-range. If you need a lovely, relaxing time, with a cake or a warm beverage, this is the place to go.

I only have positive things to say about the cakes and coffee, but unfortunately the staff in this particular place always looks like they hate their job and do the bare minimum. I don't know if they need to be paid better or just find something else to do. I stopped going because the waiters create an uninviting atmosphere.

Rooms are modern and clean, food is ok, Good prices. There is a big parking, so hotel is perfect for have a cover for night during the long trip by car. There is nothing to eat near, so we ate in the restaurant. Dinner was fantastic. Great location for overnight stay on a way to Adriatic. Near to highway, yet reasonably quiet ( had a room in the back side). Good quality room, clean, air con, comfy beds. Restaurant open untill 11pm.

The staff is very polite. Prices are okay. Soup is not very tasty. The food on the plate was cold and you can see and feel that it was prepared few hours ago and that its not freshly made. The heating worked for an hour then stopped and it was very cold. But the terrase is nice.

Breakfast was a little disappointing as we were expecting much better from a hotel which has such fantastic restaurant and chefs. Had a batch brew at Monocycle Coffee and really enjoyed it. Batch brew is an Ethiopian filter coffee. The place is famous for this coffee. However, it’s an acquired taste! Not many might like it. The place has a nice, relaxed atmosphere-great spot to unwind or get some work done.

In Zagreb, this place is one of the best cafe to taste specialty coffee and experience city's rush alongside with the Zagreb's passing trams. Plus, the clear view of Trg Žrtava Fašizma and the monument is the hidden gem..

I happened to notice this place while walking to the hotel and I have to admit that I'm glad I stopped and had a coffee. The flat white was very tasty but the only thing I missed was the body. I don't know what coffee I had, I'll have to repeat it. Btw while I was sitting on the terrace I heard two ladies commenting that the bar next door makes great latte art and even better flat whites, so be sure to expect me soon.

While the baristas are skilled, the coffee's texture and taste were disappointingly weak, even for a cortado. Be aware that ordering a flat white will cost you almost double at 3.6, likely due to the double espresso shot, which is on the pricier side for this locale. Also, if you're in a hurry, note that immediate payment doesn't seem to align with the Croatian culture's traditional service approach.

At first sight this place looked like a tourist trap but when we got in we were positively surprised. The coffee was average but they have quite extensive selection of good cocktails (I have tried several of them) for acceptable prices. The interior is quite cosy and comfy just the staff was quite poor. If you want to order something you have to go to the bar just because the waiter didn't care.

Asked for a Elderflower Juice, got a Domaci Iced Tea - went to get it changed, they said they don’t have elderflower juice anymore and offered to change it with freshly squeezed orange juice. Nice, right? Wrong. The juice comes from a bottle and it’s bitter as hell. Despite my utmost effort to not waste, this is as much as I could drink. The atmosphere is nice but that doesn’t excuse bottled juices and ready mix powdered hot chocolate.

I discovered Cogito Coffee in Zagreb and was blown away by their espresso, it’s sharp, rich, and perfectly balanced. The staff are friendly, and they serve specialty roasts that just stand out. If you’re in Zagreb and serious about your espresso, Cogito shouldn’t be missed

Awesome place. Excellent service and food. Well visited. I had lunch here, the daily menu, tuna steak and cooked vegetables. It was very well prepared. The prices are not cheap but are reasonable.

They had a variety of healthy salads more than in a traditional restaurant in Zagreb. The cakes and pancakes are very good. The variety of toppings for the pancakes are varied. We visited the cafe 'Sopot', this is a chain of cafes. A perfect little cafe with ample outdoor seating that serves a great hearty breakfast. The outside furniture was a little tired and could do with a refresh to be more aligned with the indoors decor which was more modern. Coffee was served in beautiful cups, although temperature could have been warmer. While sitting at the cafe, we were lucky to experience a vintage car rally driving through the streets of Zagreb.

One weird thing about Choco cafe is that the quality depends on the place that you're at. The one in Baštijanova is abyssmal. All pancakes I get there are dry and don't have enough filling. Cakes are old and I found a hair in some. Barf. But the one in Turinina is better, pancakes are better made and more filled. Salty pancakes are also great as are their sandwiches and omelettes. The interior everywhere is nice, cosy and colorful, so if you just want to grab a coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy talking with your friends go to Choco cafe. If you want to eat good pancakes go to Milky Whey.

Cozy place with good desert choices, but also breakfast options. One of the best coffees I had in long time. Pancakes were also very good. Stuff seems to be a bit overworked so ordering can be slow sometimes.

Current setup of staff is great! Toast is tasty and fried pancake is delitious. Few more improvements and you will get five stars from my side. Staff during the summer were not so good and omlet was full of oil so I gave 3 stars in the first place. Now, you are on a good way to get 5 stars.

The staff was very rude. We asked the waiter do they have a cake/ice cream without eggs. He said he did not know. We had to beg him to go find out! The answer was no, everything contains eggs so if you have allergies or you are a vegan don't bother to visit this place. I ordered a choco cake and it was served to me with a giant fork! I'm going to add the picture so you can have a laugh with me. The cake was not worth the cost (18kn).
