Croatian restaurant
La Štruk is a dedicated restaurant in Zagreb, Croatia that specializes in the traditional doughy parcels known as strukli. These parcels come in boiled or baked varieties, with cheese being the most popular filling. However, La Štruk offers a variety of options including experimental flavors like cheese and nettle or cheese and paprika. The restaurant is well-known for its innovative twists on the classic dish, such as pumpkin-pesto and blueberry variations.
Zagreb feels a bit stuck in the Soviet era – not well-kept and not the liveliest vibe, and service around town can be a little cold. But La Štruk was a pleasant surprise! The staff here were friendly, and the food was excellent. This spot serves only one dish – štrukli – but they do it exceptionally well. We went for the truffle version, and it was delicious – rich, cheesy, and perfectly baked. The restaurant has both indoor and courtyard seating; we dined indoors, which was cozy and welcoming. Located right on the restaurant row, it’s definitely worth a stop if you want to try a truly local specialty done right.
Regis K — Google review
Came here after reading reviews and hearing about its popularity whilst only serving the Croatian dish, strukli. I've had struklji before in Slovenia so I had some expectations of what it would be like, but they were slightly different. To try a variety, we as a two ordered the truffle flavour savoury strukli, blueberry flavoured sweet strukli, and also a deep fried one, together with a couple of drinks. The service was fairly good and the strukli came out steaming hot from the oven. My favourite turned out to be the truffle flavour, as I loved the delicious creaminess of it whilst having a subtle truffle taste. In this sense, I felt like the savoury strukli in Croatia was better than the one I had tried in Slovenia which were very different. However, for the sweet one, although the blueberry flavoured was tasty, it didn't beat the flavours at Moji Struklji Slovenije in Ljubljana. Still, the blueberry flavour was very delicious, and sweet in just the right amount. My least favourite was the deep fried one with cheese. It was still good but felt a little boring in its flavour and I struggled to finish it all. Although the dishes are good, it can get a bit heavy and monotonous so I would recommend sharing a few different flavours. Overall, I enjoyed my experience so I would definitely recommend it as something to try in Zagreb and I would go back there if I returned to the city.

This place is quite popular in Zagreb; our host recommended it for trying local food, and of course we visited as well. The atmosphere is very pleasant, though during the season you may have to wait in line if you want to sit outside in the garden, which is really beautiful. The classic Struk was delicious and I definitely recommend trying it. We also tasted the blueberry Struk, but we weren’t too impressed—though that’s completely a matter of taste. I’d recommend going and experiencing the local food for yourself. P.S. Be careful, it’s served very hot, so don’t burn your mouth 😀

Taste is pure and yummy. very glad to enjoy local food, perfect for a light lunch or desserts. we ordered red pepper flavor which is very well cooked and flavoured. blue berry is also nice but less surprising
Yun H — Google review
This charming and enchanting restaurant is located on a short, narrow street that has seating areas from the different restaurants down the middle with narrow sidewalks beside. La Struk specializes in ‘strukli’ which is a dish unique to Zagreb. The menu is dedicated to a wonderful variety of versions of strukli which is “made from a hand-stretched dough – which must be so thin you should be able to read newspaper through it – and filled with fresh cottage cheese”. There are sweet and savoury versions, as well as a deep-fried version. While they only have one gluten-free version, a must for celiacs is that it is made separately. My wife thoroughly enjoyed hers, although both her and I found our meals to be quite filling – so go with an appetite! I chose the savoury pumpkin seed version which was enjoyable, although the pumpkin flavour could have been enhanced a little more. If I were to visit again I would choose the savoury truffle paste. One disappointing facet of this dedication to strukli, is that there were no salads or vegetables on the menu. We thought it would have been nice if we could have shared a strukli and a salad. Prices were very reasonable with all options below E10.

Warm and cozy atmosphere. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Top layer tastes like béchamel and the dough tastes like something you would find in a dessert. New and different combination for me, but I enjoyed it. I will have to try one of the sweet options next.
Carissa — Google review
If you are looking to try some local food this is the right place! The pasta is homemade, fresh and tasty and the strukli are full of flavour especially the sweet ones, the combination of sweet and salty is done really well. Also the garden is pretty and makes the atmosphere even more welcoming. Don't miss this restaurant during your stay in Zagreb!
Ana B — Google review
Cute little spot selling the famous štrukle. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The dish is very interesting and rather simple. It was my first time trying this Balkan dish and it was not bad. If you’re a fan of cottage cheese and the phyllo kind of dough, then you’d love this. Only downfall is its limited seating and we noticed coffee was made from capsules not an espresso machine. Other than that, keep up the great work. Hvala !

Vinodol is a popular restaurant in Zagreb, known for its traditional seasonal dishes served in a romantic setting with white tablecloths and a terrace. Located in the city center, it attracts regular clientele and visitors alike. The restaurant offers a mix of traditional cuisine to satisfy long-time patrons and innovative, creative dishes that change weekly.
We had a good time ☺️ I loved the pea cream which came with the trout. Delish 😍 One slight disappointment was that the trout was proposed to be coated with 'hazelnut crust', which was missing. I didn't get any explanation for that, but perhaps was it because I asked a garlic -free dish? It would have been nice to have some hazelnuts !

Very enjoyable experience. We were advised several local dishes that we liked. Since, I Wished to know the local wines, I asked and received good recommendations by glass. We paid a bit high but no complains. I do not understand some of the bad reviews.
Ana R — Google review
Beautiful and quiet dining room. Service was first rate. Jan our server was very attentive and informative. His suggestions were right on the spot. The chard tart starter was not to be missed flavored by the local olive oil. We also enjoyed the veal main dish and the deconstructed poppy seed and cheese cake. The Pinot noir and Chardonnay weekly suggested wines very nice. Good celebration of Croatian food and libations.

A very good local restaurant with some traditional Croatian food. The Monkfish and Zagreb cutlet are delicious. Only one downside is waiting quite long for the dishes.
Murphy P — Google review
Awful place. The service is really bad in terms of speed even when the place is not full. The waiters however are amazing and doing their best. They even suggested local dishes and starters/deserts. However the food is awful. The prices are over the roof and the place is definitely NOT recommended. If you value your sense of taste, eat somewhere else.
Nikolas K — Google review
This restaurant had food I will dream about being able to eat again. The portion sizes were quite reasonable too. I got the veal schnitzel and the cheese literally oozed out of it. My friend had a beef filet, I think, and it was the most tender piece of meat it literally melted like butter in your mouth. Dessert was also incredibly tasty, if I recall I got a chocolate mocha cake and devoured it. Wine was good and the waitstaff were attentive.
Danielle K — Google review
A group of us went yesterday on a Sunday. Made reservation and would suggest this as I can see this restaurant being busy during regular week. Ordered the baked sea cream fish and tried the lamb too. Both were made. Fish as suspected was very fresh. The server was very friendly as we requested separate bills with no issues. Would recommend and the ambience was very nice.
Henry Y — Google review
Beautiful restaurant, unfortunately the food was abit too salty for my liking. I had to push the cheese out of my schnitzel. My pasta was pretty good besides the salt level. Service is eh at best. Everyone seems rushed. I heard 3 things drop during my time and one of them shattered. It’s ok but I’m sure there are better places

Stari Fijaker is a legendary restaurant located in Zagreb, just 5 minutes away from the main city square. Situated in a historical area that once housed city fortresses and mansions, this eatery offers an authentic taste of traditional Croatian cuisine from the Zagreb-Zagorje region. The menu features dishes such as 'punjena paprika,' 'sarma,' 'purica s mlincima,' and the original Croatian specialty 'strukli.'
Had the most amazing meals today good honest home cooking. I had the stuffed peppers(cabbage rolls) cabbage not in season, it was just as I remember having as a kid back home in Australia. The veal schnitzel was also perfect. Well worth the visit while in Zagreb.
Peter A — Google review
Great food, great vibes, but not too great service. The boiled lamb is a must try dish featuring melt-in-your-mouth lamb ribs and soul soothing broth. Not to mention how delicious this would be during the winter months. I also loved that they serve the baked squid with generous portion of sautéed spinach. The chef learns his healthy eating well. However, i felt that we were not welcomed by the tall waiter. We need to walk around the restaurant to find someone to take our order. The tall waiter even rolled his eyes when I asked for breakdown on our food bills. Also, they did not let us know that the bread costs €3 before serving to us. These four stars are for the food and the vibe, and hopefully they can improve their hospitality.
Christine Q — Google review
This place offers excellent local food with a true taste of Zagreb. The staff are exceptionally friendly and make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Both the food and wine are outstanding—flavors are fresh, authentic, and perfectly balanced. It’s definitely worth a visit if you want a genuine local dining experience. Just make sure to reserve a table before coming, as it’s usually busy, which only shows how popular it is with both locals and visitors.
BAB — Google review
I visited Stari Fijaker last night with my family, and overall, our experience was mixed. On the positive side, the atmosphere was wonderful. The restaurant has a lively, joyful energy, and the staff were genuinely pleasant and attentive. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and comfortable, which made the evening enjoyable. However, the food didn’t quite live up to the front-of-house experience. While nothing was terrible, the dishes lacked seasoning, and the pork filet in particular was dry and underwhelming. It felt like the kitchen was a step behind the high standard set by the service and ambiance. If the culinary side matched the charm of the dining room, Stari Fijaker could easily be one of the best spots in town. Hopefully, with a bit more attention to flavor and preparation, it can reach that potential.
Igor K — Google review
We selected the rest because we wanted to have some traditional local Croatian and we were not disappointed. Food is delicious and portion was very generous. The restaurant was not too busy as it was past dinner time and they seated us very quickly. It has the old school restaurant setting which we like and wanted. Very happy with our choice. Everyone should try to go there whenever you are in Zagreb. You'll not be disappointed.
Sam S — Google review
We enjoyed trying this popular traditional Croatian restaurant. Our favorite part was the bread and cottage cheese dip at the beginning of the meal. We absolutely loved the selection of breads and the dip was very tasty. We went for an early lunch and noticed there aren't really any lunch-type entries. It seems to be more of a dinner menu which means large portions. So we shared a peasant lunch of meats, beans and potatoes. One of our group ordered the beef soup which was interesting as it looked like chicken soup and the broth had a taste we couldn't quite identify - cloves? Anise? It also had homeade noodles. We made a reservation and the restaurant was pretty empty at the time we arrived. But before we left it was getting quite busy including a large tour group. So it definitely is a good idea to reserve a table.
G D — Google review
First off, you're going to need a reservation most days. Maybe they can squeeze in 2 pax, maybe not. Excellent food, excellent service and smack in the middle of town center. The bread was so good it has to be mentioned as well as the cabbage rolls.
Famousaj1 — Google review
Excellent local restaurant in Zagreb Stari Fijaker 900 offers traditional Croatian food of great quality with outstanding service. I had the tomato soup, a mixed salad, roasted duck, and a beer; everything was well prepared and generously served. For about €30 in total, the value for money was excellent. What really sets this place apart is the staff: the captain and waiters are friendly, speak English without issues, and maintain a warm camaraderie with local guests, which creates an authentic atmosphere that feels like a gathering place for friends. Although some tourists visit, it remains primarily a local spot. Highly recommended as a must-visit in Zagreb.

Restaurant
Konoba Didov san, with two locations in Zagreb, offers a taste of Dalmatia's hinterland specialties influenced by Bosnian and Mediterranean cuisine. The tavern serves traditional delicacies such as ustipci with kajmak, veal or octopus and squid peka cooked under sac, snail, frogs, and eel stews.
Our group had a truly wonderful dining experience at Konoba Didov San in Zagreb. We had pre-booked the traditional Croatian octopus and veal peka, and everything about the meal exceeded our expectations. To start, we were warmly welcomed by the staff. We started our dinner witha lovely cherry liqueur, višnjevača, and the delicious local sheep cheese, paški sir. Our main courses arrived quickly, and the staff was extremely attentive and helpful throughout the meal. The peka was absolutely fantastic. The octopus was incredibly tender, and the veal with potatoes was so delicious it disappeared from the pan within minutes. I also have to commend the staff for being so accommodating. They were extremely helpful when we explained we needed to split the bill among our larger group, which made the end of our meal completely stress-free. I highly recommend Konoba Didov San to anyone looking for an authentic and exceptional meal in Zagreb. It’s the perfect place to try traditional Croatian cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere.
Sandra O — Google review
This seemed to be authentic, rustic food ~ really home style but with upscale prices that weren't justifiable. Waiters weren't particularly friendly to us, and some repeated requests weren't delivered. We ordered the cucumber salad with sour cream, and it was really basic with giant chunks of cucumber ~ I was expecting a little more traditional, it wasn't like my grandmas 😂. I would suggest going here during the winter, the hearty food is not great for summer. Good atmosphere tho, quiet.
Blendi B — Google review
Specifically sort this spot out for its authenticity. The location is nice & atmosphere lovely. The food was fine, if unspectacular. The price though was excessive. Had it not been for this extravagance, we probably would return again. But it ended up being our most expensive meal in 7 weeks in the Balkans. But I wouldn't rate it in our top 6 meals. Choose carefully. Grandma's fried donut balls worth it! Maybe an entree & a main shared between 2 to make it worthwhile.

⭐️ Review for Konoba Didov San, Mletačka 11, Zagreb I visited Didov San with my family, hoping for a nice traditional meal, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing overall. What shocked me the most was being charged €16 for a lukewarm children’s schnitzel (listed on the receipt as “Didov Unuk”). At that price, one would expect a freshly prepared, properly warm meal – not something that tasted like it came straight from the microwave. My child barely touched it. Other dishes were average at best. The pašticada was fine, but nothing remarkable – and certainly not worth €28. For simple home-style food, the pricing felt completely unjustified. We ended up paying over €99 for a modest family dinner (receipt attached), which is excessive given the food quality and lack of attention to detail. No upgrades, no warm welcome, no hospitality worth remembering. Frankly, I expected much more. I do not recommend this restaurant, especially for families with children. There are better and more honest places in Zagreb.
Marvin B — Google review
We recently visited the restaurant without a reservation. Although there were many empty tables, the staff told us “if you want” we could sit, but only at a spot where there was no heating at all. Despite wearing warm jackets, we were very cold, and the attitude felt somewhat rude. We had walked quite a long way to get there, so we decided to stay. The food was good, but unfortunately, the experience of the space overshadowed the enjoyment. For two people, our total bill was €65.
Panagiota G — Google review
3,5/5 We order a risotto which had too much cheese and could have more meat instead. Pasticada was just ok, I was expecting more out of the meat. Sauce was nice. I guess the strong of this restaurant are the dishes that need to be pre order 3 hours in advance. Relaxed mood, as it is outside of more busy locations. 5 euros for 1l sparkling water is just way to much.

This was the second time visiting Tallinn, capitol of Estonia. So easy to stroll along the cobblestone streets taking in the rich history and heritage that Old Town is steeped in. The people are pleasant, the pastries are delicious and bargains are easy to find. Another visit awaits me.

Restaurant
Noel, located in Zagreb, is the city's sole Michelin-starred restaurant. Chef Goran Koc s, who gained experience in Germany before returning home, showcases international cuisine with a modern twist and Croatian ingredients from small-scale producers. The menu features dishes like Adriatic tuna sashimi and foie gras variation, complemented by an extensive wine list and the option to pair meals with cocktails or sake.
We recently dined at Restaurant Noel in Zagreb and had a very enjoyable experience. The restaurant’s Michelin star is really well deserved! l The setting is modern yet comfortable, with wooden tables, comfortable chairs, and an open kitchen pass that adds a touch of interaction to the atmosphere. The decor features works by local artists, which gives the space a distinct character. We started with cocktails at the bar, which were well-crafted and a nice introduction to the evening. The set menu consisted of around 10 courses, and instead of opting for wine pairing, we tried the tea pairing. Each course was matched with a cold-brew tea, an interesting and innovative choice that complemented the dishes very well. The food focused on local and seasonal ingredients, including truffles, seafood, mushrooms, and pumpkin. The dishes were packed with bold flavors and ,a well-balanced interplay of sweetness, acidity, and savory notes. Service was attentive and friendly, making us feel comfortable throughout the evening. The overall atmosphere was casual but polished. Restaurant Noel offers a thoughtful and well-executed fine dining experience with a focus on Croatian ingredients. It’s a good choice for those looking for a refined meal in Zagreb.
Miriam O — Google review
We made a reservation at Noel to celebrate one of our friends’ birthday during our visit in Zagreb. We were all looking forward to the experience since it is the first restaurant received the Michelin Star in Zagreb. However, we were utterly disappointed and unimpressed. We had their spring tasting menu and added on one of their classic dishes, the trouts for our dinner. Most of the dishes were uninspired, and the taste was either overall sour or salty. I couldn’t even finish one of the dishes since it was extremely salty. I told the host in person and over the phone when I made the reservation that we were here for a birthday celebration and would like to have surprise for our birthday girl during dessert time. They ended up just putting a candle on the chocolate, which left us speechless. On top of it, one of our friends tripped on the step while on the way to the restroom and literally fell on his knees in front of everyone in the restaurant. The host and the restaurant staffs didn’t really show any care after it happened and only gave us a bag of ice after we asked for it. As a Michelin star rated restaurant, you would think that both food and services would be apart from others, but somehow Noel failed to deliver it. We have had great meals during our short stay in Zagreb and was hoping that Noel would top it; However, sometimes things don’t turn out the same as you wished for and that’s the case for Noel.
Y L — Google review
A beautifully curated tasting menu and a truly memorable way to end my time in Croatia. Noel offers an experience that stays with you. From the complimentary kombucha to the thoughtfully printed menu and gift at the end — both marked with the date of my visit on 19/6/25— every detail showed care and generosity. The quiet dining room, complemented by soft, calming music, created a zen-like atmosphere that made the evening feel intimate and special. Service was warm, professional, and never overbearing — a hospitality style that lets the food speak for itself. A refined and heartfelt final meal in Croatia — one I’ll remember for a long time.
Rusdi B — Google review
Noel Zagreb is a culinary gem—refined, inventive, and unforgettable. The tasting menu was a masterclass in flavor and presentation, with each dish telling a story. Service was warm and precise, and the wine pairing elevated the entire experience. Michelin-starred for a reason—Noel is a must-visit for anyone seeking luxury dining in Croatia.
Ismail A — Google review
I’ll admit, I was skeptical walking in. Seasonal “creative” menus at one-star restaurants can feel like try-hard experiments that collapse into the same clichés. Noel switches its menu every three months, and since I arrived just after their transition to the Autumn Experience, I half-expected a lineup still in beta mode. Instead, zero misses. I came in on a Monday night, and the dining room was calm but not empty. Service was courteous yet warm, and the pacing was spot-on. Alongside the seasonal tasting menu, I added their signature trout dish and the non-alcoholic beverage pairing. The food was fantastic. Refined and technically flawless. The pairings, however, were mediocre at best. Each drink felt like a variation on lemonade, and few seemed to connect meaningfully with the dishes. Not offensive, just uninspired. Amuse Bouches - The best I’ve had in my recent memory. Potato chip, fried parsley, and orange gel combo was really good. Convinced me to add their signature trout dish. Leek Cappuccino - Shrimp, shrimp butter, peas, capped with a leek foam. The peas dominated, the shrimp butter gave just enough umami, and nothing overwhelmed. Noel Štrukli - Wish I got to experience the traditional Croatian cuisine before this. This was my first time trying Strukli, so whatever I say might not be accurate. Typically a heavy cheese-filled dumpling, here it became something closer to a raviolo. Caramelized butter sauce and milk powder brought layered sweetness and creaminess, almost addictive. The milk powder in particular made it so satisfying, though that might just be my milk bias. Trout with Elderflower & Wine Sauce- Might be the best trout dish I’ve ever had. Most trout courses rely on the fish’s quality and stop there. The sauce used here was intensely aromatic, sweet, and umami all at once and still kept the trout flour floating around on the palate. Mushroom Tartlette - Chef Mandarić seems to love crispy herbs. First parsley, now crispy kale (which are rarely used in fine dining because of bitterness). However, he seemed to know how to merge it. The portobello tart shell added another bitter register, and without drowning the scallops, the bitterness layering made the dish more interesting. Carrot Croquette - Soft carrot base, caramelized carrot cream, shiitake chips, Dalmatian herb sauce, and plum-wine gel. Texturally more like a spongy pastry than a croquette, but the mix of mild earthiness and bright gel acidity made it enjoyable. Langoustine Cappelletti - Perhaps the most predictable dish of the evening, but still good. Foam and bisque made from the shells carried langoustine depth, and since the cappelletti fillings weren’t too strong, it balanced out. Sea Bass with Pil Pil - My favorite dish here. Slow cooked in 50 degree oil and minimally seasoned. Mostly spring onion and bread crumb powder. The inside of the sea bass was seemingly undercooked, which gave that sashimi-like bounce instead of flaky fish. Almost like eating a sea bass fillet raw, but I loved it. Since they used almost zero salt on the fillet, that natural sea bass flavor was way more pronounced.

Unreal gastronomic experience. Dinner in 6 fantastic courses. The interior is simple, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They deservedly have a Michelin star. Prices are justified considering the status of this restaurant. I recommend it to everyone who wants a real gastronomic journey and pleasure.

From the lovely staff to the wonderful food, it's hard to highlight what we loved the most. We took the cocktail pairings and they were really great. In hindsight, we enjoyed the rooster and the amuse bouches the most.

HERITAGE - Croatian Street Food & Shop is a popular spot located near Zrinjevac Park, attracting locals and tourists alike. The establishment aims to blend national culinary heritage with the global appeal of street food, preserving authentic Croatian cuisine for future generations. This small specialty shop offers a delightful selection of cured meats, cheeses, local wines, and other traditional treats. Visitors can savor fresh ingredients sourced sustainably in Croatia while indulging in meat or fish flatbreads and delectable salads.
Wow, what a gem! This place may be small, but the food is absolutely amazing. We chose to visit this restaurant after discovering it on Google Maps, which claimed to serve traditional Croatian food—a rarity in Zagreb. The dishes we tried were outstanding, bursting with flavor and authenticity. Plus, it’s only a five-minute walk from the city center, making it incredibly convenient. The owner is fantastic! He provided us with excellent food suggestions, enhancing our dining experience. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for delicious cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. Don't miss out!
Olivia B — Google review
This place is absolutely fabulous. The food, mostly sandwiches are truly gourment. It brings me great pleasure to have accidentally stumbled across an actual gem on the street. The only reason I award it 4 stars is because the shop is too small for its operation and getting a table can be a bit annoying. They've actually put up a hierarchy of entry which reinforced my belief that they need to expand. The menu with its descriptions and knowledge of the waitress were probably my favourite apart from the perfect bread.
Sav — Google review
This tiny hole in the wall place just happened to be near my apartment. We actually were seated on a skeleton high chair and table on the street. The STAR was the food. We were very hungry and this tasty, fresh, local food was a delight. The server passionately described each and every ingredient. The sandwich with cod pate and fish bites were excellent. Dessert was toast covered with homemade fig marmalade, local cheese and walnuts- mind blowing. Never knew simple unpretentious food could be so good. Local Croatian white wine was very good
Varsha D — Google review
Small place! Might have to wait/ make a booking! Simple ingredients but damn the sandwich was delicious! I was suggested the white wine with it and it was perfect. The service here is friendly and genuine and they actually wanted to engage explaining where the ingredients came from which was a nice touch!

Unexpected good discovery. Highly recommended to taste Croatian km0 ingredients. It is very tiny with only a few spots in bar stools. However, the girl will make sure that you feel comfortable. We arrived without reservation and there was waiting list. She offered us to wait having a bier in the bar in front and picked us just a few moments later when our seats were free. We could take our biers with us during our meal in Heritage. That is service! If I could I would rate it as 7! Unfortunately, it started to rain heavily for the people in the two tables outside. The waiter made all she could to relocate a couple with baby inside. Very helpful. We enjoyed very much! Nice surprise in Zagreb. Highly recommended.
Ana R — Google review
I ate here on September 20th, 2025 around 3pm - someone give the girl who waited on my table a raise! She was very kind and when I asked for a recommendation she suggested the truffle and prosciutto sandwich. When the order arrived she explained the ingredients (important because they are all sourced locally in Croatia) and it was really delicious. Strong truffle flavor. I will definitely come back here again in the future.
Jason B — Google review
The local food is excellent, with so much flavour. Moreover, the atmosphere is both friendly and cosy. The owners are very knowledgeable and they explain what different dish combinations paired with the right beverage you should try. It was a very pleasant experience for me and I also think that HERITAGE is a must try when visiting Zagreb.

Food might not look like much, but it makes up for it in quality and flavour! I had an anchovies sandwich that was AMAZING!! The salad in the picture was plenty on it's own and the cheese was fantastic.

Wine bar

The menu offers classic local dishes alongside modern bistro favorites like beef cheeks and white fish. Located in the Lower Town near historical landmarks, this restaurant is known for its fresh, colorful cuisine made with daily purchases from the nearby market.
An amazing experience in the heart of Zagreb. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The service was outstanding – friendly, attentive, and professional. The atmosphere is elegant yet cozy, perfect for a special dinner or enjoying local cuisine with a modern twist. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the city.

I had high expectations going into this but was unfortunately so disappointed. I heard this place is Michelin recommended but I’m surprised that this is the case after experiencing it. Maybe it was an off day but here are a list of all the notable things that left a bad taste in my mouth: - The service was nearly non-existent. Once seated we had to ask for the menu, ask to order, waited an abnormally long time for our courses to come out and to get the check - I think the waiter spent more time flirting with the lady at the table next to us than paying attention to our table. She wrote him a long note on the placemat and he spent some time going to the coat area to put it in his coat? Very strange… - My glass was dirty and only noticed after my drink was poured into it, meaning that they tossed it and poured more from the bottle that we purchased (so it was wasted) - Initially I was given the incorrect wrong main dish. The correct one was relatively quick to come out, but we knew the other dishes were ready and getting cold - we were given “bread from the kitchen” which was actually an “optional” menu item. The bread was cold and the butter was okay, but if I had known it was extra cost I don’t think I would have ordered it. To be clear, this was given to us without having asked - when the check came, we were told multiple times that “service charge was not included” without an option to add anything when paying by card. This tactic felt like a “tourist trap” technique to take advantage of tipping culture and get it in cash? The food overall was okay but the service really ruined it for us. I wouldn’t come back which is sad because I was excited to try this place

This was by far the best food I had in three cities in Croatia!!!! Absolutely delicious Beef Cheeks, with a decadent sauce. Just wonderful! Had to send back an old fashion drink due to not being made correctly but I will excuse that for the delicious food 😉

Dining here was one of our best experiences throughout Croatia…everything came together, the food (compliments to the chef!!) the service from Alen and the excellent recommendations from our wine sommelier, Kiki. Kiki was able to perfectly match our food with wine and at the end of the meal shared a tasty wine aperitif which I thoroughly enjoyed! .Alen, our waiter, was great at bringing our dishes in a timely manner and was very thorough at describing each of our dishes! Thank you for making our dining experience so memorable!!

Hands down, one of the best meals we have ever had and a top highlight of our trip to Zagreb. Service was exemplary. Each course was creative and better than the last. Food was so fresh. Outstanding from start to finish. 5 stars isn’t enough.

Amazing restaurant, we were in awe before the plates, the food was beyond spectacular. Every dish was packed full of subtle flavors, and each bite was a joy to the mouth. Truly one of the best restaurant I've ever had. The service was on par with the food, and Ian was there to help us with every if our need, explaining the contents of our plates or bringing us more bread. We were welcomed with top notch service and food for the affordable price of ≈40€ for main course and dessert. I truly recommend this place to anyone who has even a passing interest in quality food, as this is a wonderful experience that was a highlight of our stay in Zagreb. Merci beaucoup !

They kindly accommodated us as a group of 7, outdoor seating, with no reservation and I’m so glad they did!!! Asian fusion restaurant
SOI Fusion, located in Zagreb, offers a small but delectable menu of Asian fusion street food. The restaurant is known for its flavorful dishes like Tonkotsu ramen with pork broth and glazed char siu, as well as Tuna poke with sushi rice and raw tuna. The establishment has gained popularity for being one of the first to introduce ramen in the area.
Delicious food, beautiful building. I would recommend this place! Saturdays are busy and I’d recommend making reservations for weekends. Prices were okay! First time in Croatia so maybe things are fine differently but the glass of wine seemed stingy. When asked, the bartender said it’s a normal pour. Staff was okay.

I was super stuffed after the lunch at this place. Everything seemed delicious that I ended up over-ordering. Only now days later finally I remember to give my review for this place. One of the best Asian food restaurants in Zagreb. Although they might have been altered to suit the taste of the locals, it’s understandable as they placed themselves as a “fusion” restaurant.

Delicious Ramen. The tonkatsu Ramen broth is really tasty, ingredients are top quality, definitely one of the best ramens I had (and I had a lot). Cooking of the egg could be improved (slightly overcooked), but not a big deal. Highly recommend 👍🏻.

So glad we found this place! After a long day, this was just what we needed. Absolutely amazing food, everything we had was delicious. The chicken gyoza and karaage chicken bun was moist and tasty. Then the noodles and the pork belly donburi was just incredible. So tasty with tender pork. It was all perfect! I would definitely recommend. Staff were great too and it was busy for a Tuesday evening.
Bav M — Google review
I love all kinds of Asian food and this was a hit! You won't get overwhelmed by the menu because it's carefully selected. Pork belly bao was amazing, as was tuna poke bowl. Tuna was well marinated, rice well seasoned and I loved the choice of toppings. My boyfriend had gyozas and karaage chicken donburi - he enjoyed both. I highly recommend reserving a table. We came on Monday evening and I don't think we'd have a place to sit if we hadn't reserved a table. The atmosphere is vibrant and international, after all the restaurant is situated in the courtyard of a hostel and beneath Swankey's terrace. We spoke English with the waitress which was honestly no problem for us. We were also served quickly even tho the place was full. The only downside of our experience were the drinks! I'm not a wine snob but I like to have a good glass of wine, this one unfortunately wasn't it (Dobra berba "Biello") 😬 And ice cubes in my boyfriend's drink had an unpleasant smell/taste. So all in all, we'll definitely come back and try different drinks 😄

We ordered the Khao Soi Ramen — it was delicious and quite unusual, I tried this kind of ramen for the first time! The interior was interesting, and the friendly service was also a nice surprise — at our request, we were moved to another table (since one of the rooms was a bit stuffy). We’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes! 😊

LOCATION & ATMOSPHERE Great location, one tram stop from the main square, atmosphere is pleasant and cozy. SERVICE Professional, friendly, everything was very smooth. PRICE Actually very good prices regarding the location, 12-15€ per dish on average. FOOD Chicken katsu is what I took, decent portion, great flavours, I was very satisfied. OVERALL One of those places where you feel that no matter what you take, it will be good because they hold a certain standard. Come and enjoy, this restaurant has my recommendation.

It is closely associated with the hotel and its kitchens, where it has played a significant role in revitalizing Esplanade's cooking and introducing haute cuisine to Zagreb's food scene.
A truly memorable Advent dinner! The historic Esplanade Hotel surroundings added a special ambience to it. The kitchen and waiter went above and beyond to make everything perfect for us including an anniversary cake and more. Overall, a very memorable evening. We will be back for sure!

Zinfandel is truly a culinary delight! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and sophisticated ambiance that set the perfect tone for the evening. The wine selection is top-notch, with knowledgeable staff who helped me choose the perfect pairing. The food here is of high quality. My husband had the wagyu beef and he loved it. I had the fish and it was tastefully done as well. The ambience and service is great. We had many little complements from the chef as well. We were seated indoors near the windows which felt very secluded and nice with a candlelight.

Food is delicious. No doubt about that. Service was not what you would expect at a Michelin star restaurant. There were a lot of misses. They sent us the wrong dish. We had to ask to fill up our wine glass. I had to pour my own sparkling water because the glass was empty. Just not to the level of what we have experienced at other restaurants with Michelin star. Was it a good restaurant? yes!

They must have changed their Chef and fish supplier, because they got better! I must admit, that I stopped visiting this restaurant a year ago since I became bored with their menu... Finally, they have added a few more dishes and all of those new dishes are fabulous. Now, I am looking forward to go for lunch or dinner again soon!

Excellent food. The staff is super courteous and very helpful. The food quality was really good and fresh. The taste was just amazing. The food in Zagreb is much better than the other cities as there is a lot of variety. The restaurant is very clean and not that expensive. It looks fancy but I believe it is value for money for the service and food it offers. I loved the Salmon, the meat was so tender and fresh. The flavours were just right. They accept cards as well. I hear the desserts are also excellent but I haven’t tried them personally. The gyoza was juicy. It also has veg options for vegetarians. Overall we had a great lunch.

A year ago, this locale was excellent. Last week, for a 115€ and a very generous tip, I expected better. Our waiter was good and prompt. The food has declined in quality. Cold starters - there is nothing more disappointing than lukewarm gyōza. How long had it been sitting? The yuzu cocktail is a pale imitation of what it was. Clearly, they lost replaced, or didn't feel like paying for, their excellent bartender and chef. It's a shame. ----- As far as food, drink, and service goes, it's simply the best Asian fusion I've had in Croatia so far. Our server was polished, polite, knowledgeable, and encouraging. Easily offered suggestions, and was clearly knowledgeable with all food related Japanese terminology. Cheers to the bartender, their excellent yuzu gimlet was a refreshing, creative delight. The gyoza, and I hesitate to use so bold a word, were perfect. I can still recall the crunch, followed by the perfect chew of steamed dough and filling. The spring roll, excellent. I enviously eyed a neighboring tables tempura shrimp and vegetables. Something to come back for. Each piece of sushi was excellent. Carefully crafted, beautifully presented, and a treat to savor. The tuna is of notable quality. Desert, a recent addition to the menu, was playfully delicious. To be fair, there were a few technical issues which weren't agregious, however should be mentioned. The cutlery needs a closer eye, as does the general table settings. I did notice the restaurant does allow babies, but to be fair, the tourists behind us were far louder. Technicalities aside, I found the food, drink, and service to be excellent.

Takenoko has been known for years as a great sushi restaurant in Zagreb. We spent our anniversary there and although the food was good I was not that impressed. The service was not on the level that I expected it to be, on the bill I saw that we got the wrong wine, and just the overall experience was not excellent. I think at this price point it should be better, especially the service.

Having read the reviews I hoped for more. The sushi rolls were average, wouldn't go back for them. There was a stain on the sake jar, menus were also stained. The interior is nice at first glance, but if you look closer, it's made quite cheaply. The waiter was nice and polite. The set of three rolls in the picture + a bottle of water + 0.18ml of sake costed 300 kunas (€40).

Really interesting menu with tasty food and fun and friendly staff. I had their crispy calamari and bucatini with pistachio sauce. Music was excellent. The staff is multilingual and attentive - they spoke Croatian, English, and Spanish. Good wifi and location, very close to the main trg. Would come back and try more of their interesting dishes. I would say for Zagreb, it's about 10-15% higher than local prices used to be, but the art on the walls and 80s music is really a whole vibe.

Rougemarin has a reputation of a high end restaurant, and maybe they were, but now they are just using past glories to sell you food at very expensive prices. Food is good. Capable, but in these kind of restaurant, with these prices, not professional enough. 💲💲And prices are high. If you take an appetizer, main meal and a dessert, you're looking at 50€ price. Lari & Penati, named after a pair of Roman household gods, is a cozy spot in the center of Zagreb offering high-quality food in an informal setting. Despite its small size, it's a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The menu features delectable sandwiches, soups-of-the-day, light main courses, and in-house cakes and muffins at affordable prices. The interior has high stools and small tables while the terrace provides additional seating when the weather is pleasant.
One of the best restaurants in Zagreb. Starting form the service and waiters who are always in a good mood and very kind. Everything on the menu is really delicious, the portions are not small at all, so don’t worry, you won’t be hungry. My favourite is the quiche with spinach, absolutely superb. You can’t miss with any dish. Definitely a must to visit if you want to enjoy great food.

The menu features an array of interesting dishes, from marinated sea bass salad to BBQ ribs with coleslaw and potato salad. However, if you're aiming for a late dinner, you might find limited options available. Some dishes were scrumptious, while others didn't stand out. For those seeking vegetarian options, Lari & Penati offers choices like aubergine parmigiana and spinach, blue cheese, and walnut quiche. The restaurant also boasts a good selection of local wines, many available by the glass. The interior is cozy, with a mix of high wooden tables. The seating is divided into two halls and an outside terrace, providing a relaxed atmosphere.

This is a good choice for a bit during the day, offering a limited but well executed list of dishes. The portions are very decent, the presentation of the dishes visually pleasing and the food itself well prepared. The service was fast (though it was a mid-week, rainy, late afternoon, so not busy at all) and there is an option to sit in or out. Overall, a good experience although I found that the prices to be a little bit on the higher side for what is on offer.
Kalliope T — Google review
I ate one of the best dishes there. Food here has the main word. Prices are reasonable, place is divided into two separate rooms so don't be confused. Waiter was fast and helpful. You should eat here slow and really enjoy it. Would recommend this place to my friends.

Gosh, did I enjoy my lunch here. I had the orange wine followed by a red. I had the vegetable soup with the orange, ribs with the red. Both combos were fantastic. The service is good but not overly precious, so it’s low key but professional. The menu is short and favours meat so it’s probably not a great location for vegetarians, as a group of them left after looking at the menu. But I loved it. I had soup, ribs, three glasses of wine for 181 kuna.

Drives V — Google review
Nestled in the lush outskirts of Zagreb, Okrugljak enjoys a reputation as one of the city’s finer dining establishments. The Croatian platter, promising traditional flavors, instead felt uninspired and lacked finesse. Both the beefsteak and rump steak arrived dry and overcooked, rendering the meat nearly flavorless. At €62, we expected a culinary experience worthy of its price, but the platter was lacking not only in quality but also in substance—hardly living up to the premium positioning Okrugljak so proudly claims.

Okrugljak in Zagreb offered a mixed experience, earning a 3.5 out of 5 stars. We were initially seated outside, but with all the insects landing on our plates and table, it wasn’t the most pleasant start to our meal. That’s why I’m knocking off half a star. However, when we asked to move inside, the staff were accommodating, and the indoor setting turned out to be quite cozy with a traditional feel, which I really appreciated. The service was friendly, and the staff made sure we were well taken care of. I ordered the Turkey Medaillon, and it was great—tender, flavorful, and the portion size was more than fair. The fact that we got a free salad and bread was a nice surprise, especially since that’s not something you typically find in Croatia.

We wanted to round off a pleasant summer day with a delicious lunch in a peaceful setting. In an empty restaurant (2 tables occupied), the waiters crowded us so close that it was impossible not to hear the business lunching at the table next to us or the family with small children at the table behind us. The steak tartare, for which the restaurant was, I can now say, famous, was a real disappointment. But that's not all, the steak carpaccio on unpeeled arugula with only the woody stems sticking out was inedible. The price was in keeping with the restaurant's former reputation. The service was solid.

If you want to really impress someone with great lunch or dinner this is the place to go. Perfect looking ambiance inside will take you back to the past, or outdoor terrace with the view of Medvednica mountain. Service is great, food more then great. To sum up, this is 100 years of experience.

Fabulous old time traditional hunting lodge ambient. Excellent food and service at an expensive, but fair price. Expensive for a normal traveler, but perfect for a memorable buisness or a very important family lunch or dinner. Top notch traditional service! Recomend to make reservations.

I was really looking forward to my meal as I love duck and knew it was on the menu. The duck was good, although so much of it that none of us could finish our meals with a lot going to waste. The lamb was very dry and not a lot of meat, but a lot of bone. The waiters seemed flustered. It was Sunday so they were busy. We weren't offered a menu, which should have warned me of the price (this has happened once before at another restaurant and regret not asking). The cost was a 983 kuna for 3 people. Which I felt was very over priced. That was for small soup, salad and a main meal. If they charged less with smaller portions we may have stayed for dessert, just a suggestion. We weren't offered to order drinks, we had to chase down the waiter and then didn't get our wine until after we finished our meal. Overall disappointed and we won't be returning.

Restaurant Nav is a cozy and inviting food haven located in a city center courtyard. The restaurant places great importance on traditional baking, offering a variety of daily crafted bakes that set the tone for the dining experience. Chef Tvrtko Sokota's mission at Nav is to modernize forgotten Croatian dishes using locally sourced ingredients with a zero-waste approach.
Truly a fantastic experience. Excellent fine dining experience! Very intimate and personal service by the whole team(they don’t have dedicated waiters but the staff including the Head Chef Tvrtko serves you). No menu but you can give them your dietary restrictions and they will accommodate. Went for the wine pairing as well which has not only informative but perfect for each dish. Definitely recommend if you are in Zagreb!

I decided to wait for few days, reflect on my experience before posting a review. I had super huge expectations based on number of reviews read by various food critics and guests. Expected mind blowing experience and my expectations were partially met. Few courses were simply amazing, few average and 1 I did not like at all. But De gustibus non est disputandum. Menu is interesting, brave and creative combinations, well prepared and nicely presented. Staff is professional, yet friendly and pleasant. Wine pairing did not meet expectations and is definitely not worth the price. Giving the chance to new, innovative wine makers is cool, but not necesarrily good always and definitely not worth the price. Vodka based walnut shots were the best. Advertised as "personal" I would have expected that guests were asked about allergies, food preferences, or things they do not eat. Upfront deposit (portion of the full price) payment to confirm reservation is indeed common practice is some Michelin Star restaurants, here you need to pay full price for the menu and online payment needs improvements as we struggled big time. Overall we had great time and will probably be back when spring/summer comes hoping to taste new menu.

It's a great restaurant with a degustation menu of about 12 courses. Food is great, something to remember, and the staff is very friendly, including the chef, who personally visits each table and tells a short story about each dish. Atmosphere reminds of someone's living room, with only 5 tables, lovely decorations and a book case. It is very expensive, available only per reservation and open only on certain days. Despite the high prices, it's worth it, regardless of whether you have a special occasion, something to celebrate, or simply want to have a great dining experience.

This is what fine dining is about!!! A lot of times fine dining revolves around a lot of other things and not food, here the food is the center of universe and it is flawlessly executed by well deserved title of best chef in Croatia. Here the best ingredients from Croatia are turned into explosions of flavors. I can't imagine anyone who loves and enjoys food to leave this place unimpressed. If you are from Croatia, some flavors will bring you back to childhood and if you are foreigner it is the best way to taste real flavors of Croatia.

Quite a journey, from tasting menu which was astonishing to wine pairing and presentation, service and staff, ambient and overall experience, friendly and inviting approach yet maintaining top professional level. Thank you Mr Tvrtko Šakota for this day to remember!

This was one of the best restaurant experiences. Perfect ingredients, impeccable execution, beautiful plating and interesting presentation. For me this was a new type of dining experience. Definitely not for every day, but very educational regarding local organic ingredients and bio dynamic farming. Would definitly recommend to any one who is an adventurous eater and wants to tray some "ordinary" ingredients executed and presented in a new and interesting way. We also got small wine paring and wines were fantastic also. My favorite dishes were parsnips, octopus, bread, cheese and smoked chocolate.

Nav is Restaurant owned by Chef Tvrtko Šakota and it represents his vision about fine dining. It is pretty unique experience in Zagreb. Food is very good and innovative. Wine choice is not the best or ideal one. But there are some very good wines on the list. All in all great addition to Zagreb restaurant scene.
Kreso K — Google review
What a fantastic place - absolut recommendation for everybody loving great food and great chefs but not enjoying the typical Michelin star fuss. The chef and owner is actually your host cooking for you, serving you and sharing his broad knowledge of Croatian wines with you and opening his cellar with some true local treasures. There is only a limited number of seats (10-12) in a living room like atmosphere and an open kitchen. From there came one great dish after another - 14 in total all accompanied by fantastic wines that you will not be drinking anywhere else. The atmosphere is cosy but at the same time it‘s also a cool and unique place. Meal and accompanying wines were about 250€ per person - not necessarily cheap but worth it. And if you compare it with prices in other European capitals for the same experience it is an absolut bargain! But that is not why you should come to NAV - come here for an evening that you will enjoy and not forget!

Located on Tkalciceva street in downtown Zagreb, Curry Bowl is a newly opened restaurant run by two Sri Lankan brothers. Despite some negative feedback about service and uncertainty about the meat served, the preparation of traditional Sri Lankan dishes like Kotthu Chicken, Deviled Beef, and Curry Chicken is said to be authentic and worth trying.
OMG! What an amazing top class restaurant. Our lunch at Curry Bowl Restaurant at Zagreb without a doubt one of the finest meals I ever had. We had read some good reviews on TripAdvisor so we decided to come here for dinner. Another reason was availability of veg food which is little difficult in Zagreb. we were not disappointed. It was a small place in a pedestrian lane which was full of bar and restaurants with lively ambience. We had veg curry with rice and deviled vegetables which was quite good. The tables and chairs could have been better. The service was fast and efficient...

Visited here on our first night based on previous reviews as we had booked an authentic meal for our second night and fancied something a little different. The menu is limited but still plenty to choose from. The mixed stater was fine but nothing special, however the slow cooked pork curry was very, very good. The service was not overly attentive and lacked interest.

Found this really cool place on a busy road in Zagreb with seating outside and a really good atmosphere. The have some nice vegan options. I Had a really good sri lanka stir fry made with vegetables and soya chunks in a blend of spices and a sauce. Served with rice and Pol sambol, which is a mix of spices and grated coconut.

It was our first time trying Srilankan cuisine and we loved it. The ingredients were fresh and the dishes were flavourful. Infact, the portions were large. I would definitely recommend the Kaha Bath, the turmeric rice. We tried Chicken curry, Pork curry and Fish curry, all three with Kaha rice and perfectly spiced to our taste. Prabhan(i hope it’s spelled correctly) was so polite and helpful, going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He even gave us the special Srilankan curry powder. Can’t wait to try them in my dishes. Highly recommended for those who want a quality meal with very friendly folks!

The flavors of each dish are an exquisite combination of fresh ingredients. The concept of customizing the spice level is a brilliant idea that caters to all tastes. The fried rice with beef and mixer appetizer platter were so amazing, without a doubt, the culinary experience at this place is highly recommended. I hope to return soon to try other delicacies on the menu.

As a Malaysian being in Croatia for 11 days, I was already craving for spice. curry bowl had so many on their menu and even provides, spicy, level options, which is great. It had enough taste, and the spice was really effective🥵 Some of my friends think that they are ginger. Beer is a tattoo too sweet, but it’s OK for me. You may want to adjust the sugar level according to your preference.M Would strongly recommend. Not to mention that their Service was also super great and friendly.

Me and my partner had the perfect time at this restaurant. The waiter especially was very polite and attentive. (Think his name was Jeff). Very welcoming and informative on the dishes and wines. Although they had sold out of Beef Cheeks I had the most perfect fillet steak, whilst my partner had duck breasts. Would definitely recommend and visit again. The food and wines were absolutely delicious. We had the sweet potato and grilled veg sides, and chocolate cake dessert. Salivating at just the thought of the meal we had. Romantic music playing in the background, there wasn’t a single fault I can point out about our experience at Lanterna only thing is I hope they have beef cheeks available when we next visit as I was craving it. We were gifted a gingerbread heart at the end a traditional Croatian souvenir. Extremely impressed with our visit!!!

100/10 experience! We were greeted with open arms and smiling faces. Jeffrey, our server, was so kind and personable. He was amazing as well as the owner. The food…. AMAZING. Their caprese salad…. I’ve never had anything like it. It tasted like he prepared the mozzarella balls himself, as well as grew the olives for the Olive oil. All of it was so fresh. I will be dreaming about that caprese salad. Our main courses were phenomenal as well — striploin steak & pljukanci. Thank you guys soooo much for an amazing experience!!!! Love, Hannah & Miles

Jeff was our waiter and he was outstanding! Kept a close eye on us to make sure they everything was to our liking and made suggestions, plus presentation of food was very nice. The food we ordered was wonderful and pictures are attached. The price was very reasonable for the amount of food ordered, which included chicken cordon bleu and beef cheeks with a gravy, along with zagorske strukle. For dessert -- you've got to try -- was Lanterna strukle. It was so wonderful! Everyone at the table was very pleased with their meal.

We had a dinner for two - lamb latern, agram steak, seasonal grilled veggies, season salad, red wine, and shared a latern struklja for dessert. Every dish was phenominal. And ambiance is great as well, in the upper town but in a quieter part of it, on the outdoor terrace under old gas street lights. Highly recommended. Put 4 stars for service as it was very frendly and professional but a bit slow, as the team was busy with a lot of customers.

Boban is a charming Italian restaurant located in the heart of Zagreb, named after the renowned football star who originally opened it. Over time, it has evolved into a trendy and contemporary dining spot, earning recognition from Michelin in 2017. The menu features traditional Italian dishes prepared by Chef Branko Kusovac, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and homemade pasta. The restaurant offers alfresco seating as well as a large vaulted cellar space for dining.
Stayed in Zagreb for a few nights and came across this gem! Opt for indoor seating as the atmosphere and the AC makes your experience so much better during hot days. Lovely presented food, attentive service and fabulous selection of local wines! My favourite wine of the day see pictures!
Ilja D — Google review
Stopped by Boban in Zagreb and tried the crostino and Spaghetti di Gragnano. The crostino was decent - good even - but us adding their table olive oil (not specifically meant for it) to enhance the flavor left us feeling a bit off, like it relied too much on a extra touch. The pasta, priced at 19.00€, sounded exciting with roasted pepper cream, pepperoncini, cherry tomatoes, pine nuts, and Pecorino espuma, but it was bit of a letdown - bland and unexciting, almost like a dish for kids we felt. For 19.00€ and with the restaurant’s reputation (and prices of their other dishes), we expected flavor fireworks, but it was so lackluster that adding salt was the only way to taste anything - something you wouldn’t expect at a place like this. Even with salt, it was just okay, still not great. That said, the service was great - friendly and attentive, no complaints there. Overall, a mixed experience.

During our visit to Boban in Zagreb, we enjoyed a fantastic dining experience. We ordered a pork dish, a ravioli dish, and paired it with local red wine. The food was absolutely delicious, and the wine complemented the meal perfectly. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. All in all, everything was great—highly recommend Boban for a delightful meal in Zagreb!

I had an unforgettable dining experience at this Michelin-rated restaurant. The risotto side was among the finest I’ve ever tasted, and while the shrimp in my dish were small, their flavor was outstanding. Highly recommend!

We arrived for an early dinner and the very kind hostess took us to our table at the inner terrace. The ambiance was very nice with italian music playing at just the right volume in the background to allow for a normal conversation. Before our food came, the kind waiters brought us warm, homemade bread and their oilve oil made by Chiavalon. We had a plate of cheese and salami for starter and later linguine with truffles and a steak with fries. The linguine were cooked to perfection as well as the steak. The fries were delicious as well. For dessert we had the homemade tiramisu and ice cream and both were delicious and very light. The waiters were very kind and fast and the wait for the meals was quite short considering the restaurant was getting full. I started coming to Boban back in 2004. and they manage to maintain the high level of service and quality of food ever since. I really enjoy coming back and I can only give my highest recommendations for this restaurant. 5/5

One of the main attractions of Zagreb but it’s much smaller than I expected. Beautiful fresh and cut flowers and lavender being sold there, but apparently some flower vendors don’t allow photography of their flowers while some are very happy and proud when you take photos. I can definitely see that some of the flower vendors are an expert green thumb! Aside from this, one of the flower vendors suddenly moved in front of me strongly pushed down my phone mid-photograph and said something to me but I didn’t understand what she was saying. She also did that to other people in front of her stall. I wasn’t blocking her flower stall, just standing at the side to take a photo of her roses. She was not selling creative flower arrangements but cut roses in buckets like everyone else so I had presumed that photography was okay. Perhaps it would be better for the these vendors to put a small sign up saying that photography was not allowed since they are not comfortable with it; at least tourists would be aware of this. This interaction left a bad mark on the whole flower market experience. Besides this, I bought colourful wool socks from a lovely lady vendor who proceeded to give me a proper printed receipt for this…I’m not sure if receipts are the norm in this market since she was the only one who gave me a printed receipt. She also sold baskets and toys and woollen shoes which were all very pretty. A lot of vendors selling berries here: the blackberries, raspberries and cranberries were all very fresh and affordable.

Great local food market starts from early morning till early afternoon (06:30-14:00). You can get fruit and veg by the kilo for just 2–3 euros. What a gem of a place. The food was mouthwatering. The stuffed fiore di zucca were just like my grandmother made. Not something you would usually find on a menu. Goes to show the level of authenticity in the cooking. The service was spot on. We felt like we had our own private waiter. Couldn't fault anything. Highly recommend if you are looking for good quality authentic Italian food with great service.

Italian food, with Croatian attitude. Sadly, the only raw thing about Carpaccio is the attitude of the wait staff. Apathetic, annoyed, and not something to be expected in the center of the city. I was given dirty silverware, the spoon had some crust caked onto it. Our waiter was generally frustrated and disinterested. Also, we were charged 3 euros per person for some breadsticks and slices of bread. When I asked about, they claimed this is an international standard... Funny, since I come from a family of waiters, and have also traveled a lot, and have never seen such a charge before in my life. Don't serve something to my table, without my asking, and then charge me for it. But this is typical Croatia. The only professional aspect of the staff was their attire...

Dubravkin Put, located in Zagreb, has recently been awarded one Michelin star. The restaurant is known for its seamless fusion of culinary excellence and natural beauty. Tucked away along a wooded path, it offers stunning views of the lush Tuskanac forest. Dubravkin Put specializes in Mediterranean and Croatian cuisine, serving seasonal menus paired with an impressive array of fine wines. It's a delightful destination for both food enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
A very bright star on the Croatian Michelin sky! Highlights include: - Creative presentation and stellar taste (particularly the gold dessert) - Upscale atmosphere - Very attentive and polite staff Improvement suggestion: - Would be helpful to point out somewhere that the six-course menu is only available for larger parties. Overall, a great place for fine dining in Zagreb! We will be back for sure!

I picked this restaurant as a treat for my partners birthday. We both chose a four course menu. The food and the flavours were great. I really enjoyed the veal croquette amuse bouche and the veal tartar. The traditional Croatian meals turned into Michelin style plates was a nice touch especially with the cabbage dish. And the salmon pearls were exceptional. I’d say the fish was ok, and my partners duck was slightly under. But otherwise a very pleasant meal. The cherry dessert was a great surprise. Our waitress was lovely and explained everything perfectly. It’s a shame the restaurant wasn’t more busy as it’s a great place, a little out of the way.

We had the pleasure of enjoying a memorable lunch at Dubravkin Put—our very first Michelin-starred experience. Tucked away near Tuškanac forest, the serene surroundings matched the refined yet relaxed ambiance inside. We went with the 3-course menu, starting with veal medallions served warm—beautifully tender and elegantly plated. The white fish fillet followed, subtly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Peach Melba rounded things off with its nostalgic sweetness and lovely balance. On the à la carte side, we ordered the Croatian tenderloin aged steak. It arrived without any sauce or decorative garnish, which momentarily surprised us. Perhaps it’s a minimalist approach to let the flavour of the meat take center stage—and in fairness, it was richly flavourful and impeccably cooked. The rustic pairing of chard and potatoes made for a satisfying complement. We finished with the indulgent Le Louis XV—a layered chocolate creation that felt regal in every bite. Service was generally warm and professional, although there was a small hiccup: our waiter brought a second bottle of water after we declined. Likely a simple miscommunication, and not something that detracted from the overall experience. A sophisticated lunch that invites you to slow down and savor. Highly recommended for those looking to explore elevated Croatian cuisine in a stunning setting.

I was VERY excited to come here and the food was pretty good but I must say as an avid Michelin star restaurant frequenter, I do not understand how this restaurant received a Michelin star. The service was terrible, and not because of attitude or rudeness but sheer lack of communication. The waiter didn't tell us when the food had pork although we said no pork several times until after we put in our order. He didn't communicate the menu price are set in a specific way. He gave me sister in law 2 purse rests and didn't give me any. He was extremely slow. Also, the fish was dry. Other than that while the food was good it was nothing amazing or at the standard of what I've come to expect from a Michelin star restaurant.

Great food, awesome service and wonderful ambience. Nested in the greenery away from town centre, it sets a perfect tranquil backdrop for enjoying food that was done with care, love and attention. We had the 3-course lunch menu €55. Every dish was done well. No drinks menu. Just tell them the type of drink preferred and it will be served. Reservations were made months in advance via email which they replied promptly. Due to last minute itinerary changes, we requested for a change in timing to an off-peak one, which they gladly assisted with. We would gladly visit this Michelin restaurant again when we are in Zagreb.

Amazing food, relaxed patio, and great service. Stopped in for lunch on my first day in the city. The restaurant sat between hills on the edge of town, so despite being close to the main tourist drag, it felt calm and tucked away. At lunch the place was nearly empty, so I was able to snag one of the best tables on the patio. For lunch, they were offering 3- and 4-course menus, but I wanted their signature dishes that weren’t included. Ended up going with the 3-course and adding the black cuttlefish risotto and the Louis XV dessert. White Fish Carpaccio (Sea bass, black olive powder, basil emulsion) – Instead of thin slices, the sea bass was minced into a compact cylinder, sidestepping the flakiness that usually makes bass tricky as carpaccio. The basil emulsion and olive powder brought plenty of umami, though flavor-wise it was somewhat expected. Black Cuttlefish Risotto with Langoustine Carpaccio – The signature dish. The risotto itself was seasoned only with cuttlefish ink which left room for the langoustine to carry the flavor. On its own the carpaccio might have been too delicate, but paired with the langoustine cream it became fully indulgent. Perfectly al dente rice and chewy cuttlefish bits made it so satisfying. Slovenian Pork Neck with Smoked Potato Cream, Pork Fat Crumbles, Demi-glace, Grilled Zucchini – A more classic pork plate, except for the pork fat crumbles. Still, probably the best pork I’ve had recently. Gorgeous marbling, fat that melted just right, and the crumbles layered over potato cream kept the dish intensely pork-driven and undiluted throughout the dish. Poached Pear – Firmer than expected, with the usual chantilly cream pairing. What made it special were the honey-glazed walnuts, which gave much-needed intensity to the slightly underripe, less-sweet pear. Louis XV – Added this on since it’s billed as their signature dessert. Essentially a very well-made chocolate mousse cake. Fun, yes, but not necessary if you’re already hitting the edge of a food coma.

Great service and pretty great food! We didn’t love the red fish main dish but aside from that the food was great and they were very accommodating with allergies.

Amazing experience! Food was extraordinary, and not a single bad thing can be said about everything we ate. Steak tatar best we ever ate, both steaks perfectly cooked, side dish is a must (potatoes in a sauce) and dessert is work of art. Young lady that was serving Us was 10/10 and she is definitely on of the highlights in the restaurant. If you have to choose a restaurant in Zagreb for a special day, this has to be it.

The menu features an array of globally inspired dishes, including ribs, pulled-pork sandwiches, fish tacos, soups, bruschettas, cheese platters, sushi options like nigiri and hosomaki uramaki rolls.
The food was so yummy!! I ordered a Wagyu steak in a rare medium and honestly it was one of the best steak I've ever had!! my friends ordered Salad with beef and chicken.. It was also very yummy! The ambient is very relaxing and the staffs are nice. We had a very great dinner in this restaurant! 🥰❤️

Very nice restaurant with good selection of steaks but also other dishes. You can choose also from wide variety of wines. Prices are a little bit higher but ok. Cigar lounge is available in a seperate room. Would recommend the place for dinner when you want to leave an impression.

I was looking forward to visit El Toro heard so many good things about this place. But in the end I was a bit disappointed. The food was actually pretty good, but nothing special. But the biggest thing for me was the waiter. He gave 5% effort, not interested at all. And he looked like a seasoned waiter. I was willing to spent much more money than I did, but his lack of interest totally ruined it for me. Also no music on the terrace was a bit strange.

We found this place on the map by accident and decided to have dinner there. We were greeted with a smile at the entrance, and we were lucky that someone had canceled their reservation, so we got a table (so if you’re set on eating here, make a reservation). Very friendly staff, very attentive waiters, and a great atmosphere. We went on a Saturday night, so there was even a DJ. As for the food, we ordered steak tartare, which came with fresh pita bread and aromatic butter, all prepared excellently. The meat was also perfectly done—highly recommended. You can choose your preferred side dish and add a sauce if you like. The sides are also very tasty. They also have an impressive wine list. The atmosphere, ambiance, and food quality are definitely reasons for us to come back again.

Had a blast dining at el toro with my friends on our last night in Zaghreb. We tried the chicken skewers, shrimp ceviche, the steak salad, as well as the steak and the grilled octopus and chicken tacos. My favorites were the stead salad and the chicken skewers.

The experience was amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially Max giving us exceptional recommendations. Food was cooked to perfection, I would really recommend the rib eye stake.

Vlado, who was absolutely amazing for our dinner service, made sure we understood everything and provided excellent service. The recommendations were very helpfull. As for the food I can not express how talented the chefs are. We had Tomahawk steak, cooked to perfection and the char added amazing flavour too. The star for us was the corn!!! We have agreed that the corn was exceptional and were so surprised we could not stop talking about it. And as we though we could not get even more surprised we ordered desert and that was a cherry on top. The best desert I had in my life, and that is no exagaration! It was better that my grandma's !!!! Definitely recommending this placw as it was 15/10 the venue, the atmosphere, the delicious food and one of the best waiter experiences too.

Mali Bar is a charming restaurant located in the city center, offering a relaxed atmosphere and a menu that changes with the seasons. The dishes are crafted from fresh market ingredients, ensuring a delightful variety throughout the year. The cozy dining room provides an intimate setting to enjoy their Croatian interpretation of tapas, featuring hand-picked local market bites and snacks. With its minimalistic yet effective decor, Mali Bar offers an informal dining experience where guests can savor inventive nibbles and exquisite lunches.
In a few visits, Mali Bar has become my favorite restaurant in Zagreb. It is a rare thing to be able to serve humble and yet creative food and this is what we get every time in this place. The chef and the staff offers fresh and modern cuisine and some dishes with a little twist for the adventurous at heart (like me) whether it be olives in a dessert or even an croissant infused purée next to a steak, there is always a great idea and the perfect execution. I honestly wish I could eat there every week. Great location, great vibe and friendly staff. What else could we ask for ? I hope they keep going with the same philosophy for a very long time.

Had dinner here with 3 friends, we shared some appetizers and then ordered main dishes. There is some difference between meal sizes, for instance my lasagna looked like half a portion, and was indeed too small for one person. On the other hand my friend was struggling to finish his meat meal, as it was too big. In general good is good, but nothing special. Service was very good, fast and professional. Make sure you book table in advance as the place gets packed in the evening. Prices are acceptable, as these days everything is expensive in Zagreb. Good wine selection but pricey

Discover the intimate allure of Mali Bar, a cozy Zagreb eatery renowned for its distinct culinary offerings. Indulge in a gastronomic journey filled with unexpected delights, such as the homemade chicken liver and the flavorful 'vitello tonnato' appetizer, each dish a revelation of new tastes. Treat yourself to the exquisite bavette steak, a testament to Mali Bar's commitment to quality and flavor. While unassuming, this quaint establishment requires advance reservations due to its popularity. Don't miss out on the Mali Bar experience—a culinary adventure that blends innovation with warmth.

The food was generally great and tasty (although the bread that came with labneh was overtoasted so much it was almost inedible), but the waiting staff put us off from coming back...it started from us not having a reservation, so the only option given to us was to be seated outside (it is what we initially wanted since inside was a bit warm and loud), but the folks that came after us also had no reservation, but were nevertheless seated inside...and it continued with us not getting our water after snarky remarks from waitress "of course you want tap water", she forgot to bring it to us, the whole vibe of the place is a bit snobbish and off-putting
Matija M — Google review
This is a cool concept bar with a wide variety of drinks, especially signature cocktails that are impressive. It’s a great place to hang out, enjoy some drinks, and relax. The atmosphere is lovely—romantic, calm, and peaceful—with nice chill music in the background. Regarding the food, the food menu is a bit limited, with only a few options, but the idea clearly focuses more on pairing with drinks. What we tried was tasty, though the portions were quite small. We were still hungry afterwards even though we ordered apprterziers. Also we waited quite long. The location is central, which is a plus, for who would like to come by car, you’ll likely need to use a nearby garage. Overall, it’s a good spot to try out, especially for drinks. But as for food, if you are open to try something new and experience that would work for you, if you are coming with more expectations might not satisfiy you. A slightly expanded food menu would make it for sure better. Be sure to make a reservation for weekend dinners, as it can get busy!
Tuğçe K — Google review
Best bistro in town. Every seasonal ingridient that is treated with care to pull the best and purest flavours out. From simple entrees to more complex main courses, it bursts with colors, aromas and textures. The only problem is that main course is so sweet that you don't want to ruin it with desserts that are also memorable and amazing.
Bojan N — Google review
I had high hopes, but the food was a bit of a mixed bag. The tempura zucchini flowers were excellent. The raviolo however was very disappointing. The sauce was extremely salty, overpowering everything else on the plate, and the filling inside the raviolo was just a mushy mass without any clear flavor, bland and poorly balanced.

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Zagreb at Kralja Zvonimira 124, Bota Šare is a culinary gem that brings together the best of Japanese and Dalmatian cuisine. This unique oyster and sushi bar offers an exquisite menu featuring fresh seafood sourced from the pristine Mali Ston Bay. Diners can indulge in a variety of dishes, including Mediterranean rolls with shrimp and olives, tempura-wrapped specialties, and tantalizing sashimi.
This fish restaurant offers sushi that is much better than all the other sushi places in Zagreb. The fish was fresh and prepared like at home. The desserts were also delicious ("rožata"). The service is a little slow and it seemed that some of the guests got their food before us. They have only 2 beer brands, but the wine selection is much more interesting and bigger. During warmer days, they have a cute terrace. Plenty of places to park around (Zone 2).

I recently visited, and I must say — it was an unforgettable experience! The ambiance was cozy, elegant, and perfect for a relaxing dinner. Although our food took about 50 minutes to arrive, the staff were incredibly kind, kept us informed, and even offered us a complimentary dessert as a gesture of goodwill — a really thoughtful touch that didn’t go unnoticed. Now let’s talk about the food: the scampi was to die for! Fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection — hands down one of the best seafood dishes I’ve had in the city. Everything else we ordered was equally impressive, clearly made with care and quality ingredients. Would I go back? Absolutely! Bota Šare has definitely earned a spot on my go-to list. I’d highly recommend it to any seafood lover visiting or living in Zagreb. You won’t be disappointed!

This place knows how to cook seafood, all of them. Very tasty and flavorod salads and various type of seafood in the menu, also wines were amazing. One of the negative side is service was very slow and no waiter even looked at for 20 minutes, we were planning to leave but we stayed. Also, inside is crowded and because of echo it was too loud additional to music. We stayed 2.5 hours inside and I'm not exaggerating 1 hour of this was waiting even for getting check. You can go if you have enough time and don't forget to make reservation.

One the greatest experience ive ever had. Best fish in Zagreb, perfect service, real professional waiters, excellent wine ( Pošip ), huge portions, everything superfresh. Prices are higher, but it costs it. Please visit this restaurant. I was here 4 times for last 5 year and i will definetly return here again 🫶❤️

The service was efficient, streamlined and well run, the ambiance satisfying and appropriate for a seafood place. As for the food - it was very good, but not great. The white fish carpaccio and prawn tartare were vibrant, delicious and super fresh. For main I ordered the mixed clams and the texture of the clams was chewy, unpleasant and the portion was a little modest for 20 €. However the white sauce that came with was delicious and I enjoyed dunking my bread inside. We also shared some tempura shrimp and vegetables which were crisp, light and very tasty. One more thing, the restaurant also didn’t have half of their menu that day, which was unfortunate. All in all it was pretty good and on a better day I’m sure it would have been great. Regardless of the tiny remarks, I would still recommend.

Amfora is a traditional restaurant situated in Dolac market, offering classic dishes like fish and squid sourced directly from the nearby fish market. The interior may not be very captivating, but dining outside allows you to soak in the lively atmosphere of Zagreb's central marketplace. It's a popular spot for locals, market vendors, and tourists due to its reputation for serving fresh fish at reasonable prices.
The best of the best in Zagreb! I visit Zagreb couple of times per year. This is my favorite place. Not because it looks phenomenal but because the food is incredibly tasteful. Don't mind the servers because they are really super busy. Just be patient and your food will be there for you and believe me, you will enjoy. Don't miss the Tuna! (First photo) Incredible!

A beloved local spot known for its delicious fried seafood, this small restaurant is a favorite among locals. It also serves excellent coffee and is the perfect place to unwind with a refreshing drink and light bites after shopping at the food market. Seating is limited, but takeaway is available. Prices are very reasonable.

The waitress recommended some local fresh fish and wine: fried red mullets, shrimps, and French fries. Grilled Sea bream with vegetables as side dishes. The food is fresh and delicious! Wine is nice. We like the waitress as she serves us in a friendly way. Definitely recommend here!
Ti Y — Google review
Located next-door to the Dolac fish market, Amfora gets fresh fish (mostly red mullets, squid, prawns) and prepares simple yet quite tasty meals ideal for brunch/light lunch. It's ideal in warmer months, to eat on the terrace as there is not much place indoors. The establishment is basic, as comfort and style are definitelly not a priority here. Good seafood is, though.
Mirko S — Google review
Sea side vibes into the mainland. Fresh fish grilled and fried to perfection. We tried red mullet, sardines, and seabass. Simple and tasty side dishes. The market is the view as the only seating option is on a covered terrace. The only thing we didn’t like is too many smokers around.
Rabii K — Google review
It's hard to provide a review, just because the way Google splits the numbers. This is a local for spot, not what tourists are expecting, and not with the polished tourist response. HOWEVER, don't let that scare you away. The food is sublime. We are 8 days in to a month trip, having been is Southern Portugal and Rome, and this was easily my wife's favourite place to eat. The sardines were delicate, and full of flavour. The squid was so tender it felt like it had just been caught (and likely had). This place screams out as being a place for locals, and for a reason. It is tasty z local food, great price, and not aimed at tourists. Come here and you will not be disappointed.
Arran H — Google review
Really delicious fresh fish and seafood. The prawns are nice and smoky and the blitva (kind of spinach/chard with potatoes) is really good. It's not a fancy place, but the quality is great. The best bet is to ask the waitress what she recommends as she'll tell you what's good that day.
Graham R — Google review
Lovely fried seafood place located next to seafood market of dolac. We had seafood platter recommended by the owner. Seafood was fried with just right amount of batter, Lightly crisp outside but soft texture inside. Only complaint was much too salty. Both for fried seafood and the vegetables. Seats are limited and exposed to the sun and smoking friendly so not great for non smokers.

The pistachio croissant was delicious. The cappuccino was lukewarm and flavorless. Pink lemonade was also a disappointment. The decoration is cozy and stylish. Very spacious environment.
Derya H — Google review
I am compelled to write this review for a few reasons: 1. They do a proper barista coffee and that's not that common in Croatia I find. I tried one of their fancy kinds and it was great. I suspect the "standard" ones are also good. 2. It's the only place I observed that does not prioritise seating for smokers. As a non-smoker I appreciated that the "outdoor" terrace seating is non-smoking (as I understood it due to no ashtray). I hate cigarette smoke and could enjoy my coffee with natural light and not gagging from the smell. Please stay this way, smokers can deal with not smoking for an hour, and if they can't - they have 99.9% of other places to go to. 3. The service was friendly and the whole place has a really nice vibe and interiors. They don't have many food options, sadly, but I still appreciate this place for what it is.

My wife and I were looking for some shelter from the rain and a quick google search for the “best coffee in Zagreb” and Quahwa was only 200 yards away. Tucked just behind the main road, we were pleasantly greeted by a lovely lady. The coffee was really good quality and very reasonably priced. As we had arrived later on in the day they had run out of cake for the coffee and cake deal they do but that’s on us turning up just before closing. Would highly recommend.

Came here after reading the reviews and we weren’t disappointed. Really lovely and smooth coffee. Quick service too. The only negative but I won’t remove a star is that you can smoke in the seating area so it was very heavily smelling of smoke when i was there. Maybe it’s not like that all the time and I’m sure most people don’t mind, I just hate that smell :) but perfect coffee.

Asian restaurant
Restoran Izakaya is a popular Asian restaurant located just outside the city center of Zagreb. It's a great spot for after-work cocktails, private dinners, or romantic dates. The menu features ten signature dishes created by their sushi masters, along with a variety of exotic bites like gyoza, tartar, tataki, and tempura spring rolls. The restaurant offers a beautifully decorated space perfect for relaxed gatherings and has received praise for its cozy ambiance and attentive staff.
This restaurant has been repeatedly awarded a Michelin star year after year — and it truly deserves it. Its reputation in Zagreb is well-earned and widely recognized. Upon arrival, we were greeted with smiles, and the atmosphere is somewhat dark and mysterious, adding to the experience. Once the food arrived, it was immediately clear that this is top-tier Japanese cuisine, with flavors that perfectly matched the impeccable presentation. My favorite dish was the pork belly bun, and I will definitely return multiple times. The only minor critique is the music, which currently plays pop from the radio rather than matching the Japanese theme — I hope this is adjusted before my next visit.

We came as a group of six and were lucky to have the small, separate room all to ourselves – cozy, warm, and perfect for a relaxed dinner among friends. The host guided us through the menu with spot-on recommendations for shared appetizers and main courses from Istria. Every dish was delicious, but the highlight for me was the risotto with green asparagus and shrimp – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and the hospitality is just as impressive. Friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about food. VODNJANKA is definitely a must visit in Zagreb.

Let me tell you… the place itself is great, the food is beyond great but what makes this place top notch is Ado!!! He takes great pride in relating to his guests and wants to make you happy. You will not be disappointed in anything… no wonder they’ve won all the awards!

Cute restaurant with a quiet and elegant atmosphere. Service was nice and attentive. The soups we tried were excellent and so was the bread and selection of olive oils and chocolate dessert. The mains though maybe left a bit to be desired, especially the Istrian beef plate. They were not bad by any means, but we've tried better versions of the dishes we got elsewhere. Still would recommend.

From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely fantastic — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The dishes were outstanding, each one crafted with remarkable attention to detail and flavor. The highlight of the evening was the truffle steak — a truly unforgettable experience. Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and infused with that rich, earthy truffle aroma, it was easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The ambiance added to the charm — elegant yet cozy, making it perfect for a special night out. We left not only full, but impressed and already planning our next visit. Highly recommended!

Pizza restaurant
Pizzeria Purger is a classic lunchtime spot in Zagreb that has maintained its traditional charm since it opened in 1932. The restaurant offers a menu featuring grilled meats, tripe soup, and an excellent grah. A must-try dish is the punjene paprike (stuffed peppers) served with creamy red sauce and mashed potatoes.
Iconic pizza place in Trešnjevka neighborhood in Zagreb. Old school interior design, as it was 30 years ago. Took the family there for the first time. It was great there and everything was nice - food, service, people.

Purger – A Zagreb Classic! Purger has been serving delicious Croatian-style pizza since 1979, and it never disappoints! The crust is perfect, the toppings are generous, and the prices are affordable.
Armano C — Google review
For me Purger represents one of the best pizza places in the 🌍 - taste, atmosphere and emotion wise 😁. It looks, tastes and feels like it did decades ago and, with a no delivery/cash only policy, still stands out. Eating your pizza there means they can ensure it's always just as it should be. I absolutely love coming back here!

As I was travelling through Croatia, I've spent two days in Zagreb. Looking for fast meal I've found nice pizzeria near my location. Pizza was very tasty, with fresh cheese and vegetables( very good peppedoni!) and nice crispy doe. Staff was smiling and nice, perfect english. Atmosphere quiet and relaxing. Prices very affordable. Deffinitly recommended place! 5/5 :)

Pizza was excellent, place is cash only.

This place is like a time machine that transports you back 30 years in the past. Don't expect Neapolitan or any other modern type of pizza; instead, anticipate the classic, old-school pizza that was crafted around Zagreb. The ham is still flavorful, generously topped with mushrooms. The dough is crunchy and delicious, and surprisingly, despite the abundance of mushrooms, it remains perfectly crispy and not soggy. We enjoyed our experience here, and whenever we crave authentic old-school pizza, this is our go-to spot.
Petar J — Google review
Delicious pizza with a perfectly toasted crust. Not too thick or thin, not too doughy or crisp. Just right. I had the namesake "Pizza Purger" with egg, bacon and onions. Really good. Service isn't super attentive, but I was there on a rainy Sunday afternoon, so it was probably super slow compared to a weekday lunch hour. It was nice to have a booth to myself and not feel rushed, so no complaints. They've got a few beers (bottles only I think), so you've got your choice of pivo:) a huge mirrored wall makes for fun photo ops if you're into that kind of thing;)

Launched by Chef Marko Turkovic and restaurateur Pero Dangradovic, and now led by the talented Chef Katarina Vrenc, this establishment has quickly become a must-visit spot since its inception in late 2022.
Superb dining experience in Sopal! Setting and the menu is bistro type, in the center of Zagreb. The wintery menu we tasted last week was well executed ride through traditional croatian cuisine with twists and unusual combinations. Wine list is funky. Hospitality is great. Will come again.

The food tastes absolutely amazing and the staff is friendly. The portions are a bit smaller, but it's worth a visit. Mussels are a definite must have. With appetiser, main course and a desert you get to around 35-40€ per person

This charming local bistro in Zagreb is a true hidden gem. The menu showcases the Croatian cuisine with a modern twist, using fresh ingredients. From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to share recommendations. We had branzino bite and steak both dishes were bursting with flavor, clearly made with care and attention to detail. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience delicious food made with love in Zagreb.

If your a ‘foodie’ try this spot as it’s local ingredients on global type menu. This spot is very flavour forward vrs size of portion and they hit the mark. One of our most favourite meals in Croatia. The mussels are exquisite as they are served in a thick fish/mussel based ‘soup’. We found the pricing very reasonable for the quality and the host/waiter knew every detail for every dish.

This is something different! ...in a very positive way! Very nice atmosphere in a quite small space, with fantastic food presented in great style. Guys who are taking care here are really good, especially the one who served us - very talkative, bringing many helpful insides about the dishes served and available wines. By the way, they have imported wines which quite unusual for Zagreb. Prices are reasonable for the quality offered.

We enjoyed this local bistro in Zagreb so much, we ate here twice in one week. Offering Croatian cuisine with a modern twist, all made from fresh, high-quality ingredients, we very much enjoyed it! The staff were incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, ready with thoughtful recommendations and a genuine enthusiasm for the food they serve. A wonderful spot I'd come back to if I return to Zagreb.

Worst food we’ve had in Croatia. We’ve been here since 4/9 (Plitvice, Rastoke, Split & Dubrovnik). Short pours of wine (or maybe it was just for me) and pedestrian dishes. Obviously not freshly prepared. Skip.
Pixie P — Google review
Came back after a while to try the new menu, but unfortunately the experience didn’t quite meet our expectations. The mussels were overcooked, the lamb was served cold (not sure why) and the gorgonzola gyoza was quite strong and salty. We also ordered the octopus, but it never arrived, possibly just an oversight, although we were the only guests at the time. Hopefully just an off day, but we’re not sure we’ll be returning. While the concept is fun dining, the prices felt a bit too serious :(

Went for the acclaimed French toast but on the menu they have scratched through it - our waiter said the cooks said it took too much time but the waiters want them to bring it back because it was so popular. Very limited breakfast menu - also had granola and yoghurt which was better than the eggs pictured.

Was recommended this place, and I tried the Zagreb Breakfast. It was alright. Though I feel the ratio of things was a bit off. It was a lot of salad and bread and very little else. Still tasted good though. Service was alright, but they seemed confused, I put my order in with a waitress and three minutes later a waiter comes to take my order. And the table next to me got their order delivered twice. Someone forgot how to communicate haha. I'd come here again but probably go get something else than the Zagreb breakfast.
Kenny A — Google review
Very welcoming elegant, and yet homey type of restaurant near the main square in downtown Zagreb Croatia. The staff here at Otto and Frank is patient, kind and very friendly. I enjoy the egg on toast 😋, since I am Ketovore, I didn't eat the toast. They served coffee but like everywhere in many countries in Europe. They serve lukewarm coffee not hot coffee. You don't get free refills on anything you can order to drink except water. And the larger coffee cups are half the size of the average coffee cup you get in the United States. Half coffee and half warm milk is served everywhere. It doesn't difficult. To find any place that has a normal American size coffee cup. And it's difficult to get anybody to serve coffee steaming hot, which is the way. Coffee is supposed to be But that's the way it is throughout Europe. Lukeworn coffee, that's half coffee half milk. And no refills, unless you pay for each refill. That's my biggest complaint about being able to enjoy coffee while in Europe. But I would recommend Otto and Frank's restaurant to anybody who is visiting Zagreb Croatia.

Restaurant
Fish Restoran "Ribice i tri točkice" is a popular seafood spot in Zagreb, known for its delicious yet affordable traditional fish dishes. Situated on the first floor of a building at the intersection of Preradoviceva and Teslina Street, it offers a cozy atmosphere and even has a terrace for outdoor dining. The restaurant maintains high standards amidst other excellent dining options nearby.
We walked by this place with a colorful business sign, and the menu outside drew us in. The different seafood dishes on the menu sound enticing. We weren't expecting much as only two customers were there. After we sat down, more people showed up, giving us hope that this place would potentially be a good choice. We ordered fish soup, boulibesse, arugula salad, black (squid ink) pasta with seafood, and grilled sea bream. All dishes were FANTASTIC! Soup was hot, fish was fresh, and pasta dish was savory. Lastly, the prices of each dish were reasonable, compared to seafood restaurants in the US. Definitely recommend this place!

Domaće (like home cooked) Croatian Food at its best. Fresh, clean and tasty produce. I had a Brancin fish on the grill (na žaru) and it was beautifully cooked and seasoned perfectly, pomme frites (chips) were freshly made and crispy, rukola and potato salad went well with everything. Cannot fault the food. Quirky decor, paintings by a local artist made it a vibrant and colourful restaurant. Highly recommend.

Restaurant
Royal India, located on Tkalc ceva Street in Zagreb, is a popular Indian restaurant known for its rich warm decor and extensive menu featuring traditional tandoor-cooked dishes. The restaurant offers a variety of options for vegetarians and also serves Croatian wines to complement the spicy Indian cuisine. Over the years, Zagreb's restaurant scene has seen a renaissance with the addition of various international cuisines, including Indian.
In the very center of Zagreb, on Tkalciceva Street, there is this Indian restaurant that I accidentally entered and was delighted with. The selection of food is very large and everything is extremely delicious. You could write a whole novel about spices because everything is so rich in flavors and really delicious if you like them. The restaurant staff is very polite and unobtrusive, which is very important to me. If you ask them, they will be happy to help you with instructions and advice on what is best for you.

Unfortunately our second time here and a bit disappointed the food wasn’t as tasty as 2 years ago and my son said the meat tasted fishy and it did. I feel sad as we were really looking forward to the meal and it just wasn’t up to scratch and don’t think we’ll be returning, sadly. The worst Indian food my family & myself have ever had! I don’t recommend it at all & a place to avoid in the future! A waste of time and money! My son never complains about his food but sadly he did about the food served here.
Jennifa H — Google review
You are roaming Zagreb and the aroma of yumminess hits you. You have to have this food. You must. We were quickly seated. A friendly server suggested portions and what’s good (hint everything). We have been traveling for a bit and craving desi food. And boy are we glad we found this restaurant. We had samosas for appetizers. This was a big serving and tasted awesome. The butter chicken tasted excellent. The tikka fresh and served on a hot plate. Most importantly not with the red dye which is not common in the US. I loved the biryani, especially how it was cooked in a dough cover like it’s supposed to be. We really enjoyed our experience here. The staff from the host to the servers is friendly and made our experience special. Really loved the place and hope to be back.
Ali R — Google review
Was hoping for a bit better experience here. On a Sunday evening 8.30 the restaurant was full and almost unbearably noisy - including families with children playing loud games on their phones and couriers entering and leaving all the time. I wish the restaurant would do something to limit the noise i.e. acoustics, asking people to limit the noise and better interior design. It was a very stressful evening. Had chicken tikka grill and butter chicken. Food portions are the smallest we have ever had in an Indian restaurant. The grill was good cooked well but did not taste of much compared to other Indian food. The butter chicken was well spiced but a little undercooked. Prices are only okay, considering that you have to add naan and rice to the main dish. The service was okay, not the often humble Indian service but also not rude. Would only eat here again if it is not so busy.
Ali K — Google review
Really nice food! The lamb was really exquisite. The rice and garlic bread were great extras. The chicken tandoori was a bit dry for my taste but good. Shout out to the Indian Typical Lemonade which is sweet and salty at the same time. Perfect to wash the spicy out of the mouth

What a wonder Japanese restaurant. We’ve travelled the world eating great sushi but never expected to find such a nice experience in Zagreb. The restaurant is well appointed and we love the glassed in kitchen. The service was tops, friendly, informative and never rushed. The menu was… extensive. As for the food… fish was super fresh and very importantly, the rice, often overlooked, be it in nigiri form or in a bowl, was perfectly made. And we had the green tea sesame mousse dessert that was just fantastic. When you’re in Zagreb and looking for Japanese food, this is it. Oh…. We enjoyed it so much, we went back again the second day of our stay in Zagreb.

A great place is currently advertising and is called Kozel. Despite the busy hour, they quickly found us a place for four. Admirations for the waitress - smiling, quick, with a sense of humor, explains well and takes care of everything. The food was extremely tasty and quickly prepared. I cannot say that I would recommend this restaurant. The food is quite average - not particularly tasty, though not bad either. Take a look at the burger; it doesn’t even appear appetizing. The beer is served in smaller quantities than expected. The restroom is extremely small, and the faucet only provides cold water, which is especially uncomfortable during the colder months. On the positive side, I can highlight the quick service.

Stopped in here for a late lunch/snack. The menu is very extensive and is peppered with amusing nuggets of information about beer! 😅 Sitting outside gives you the chance to watch people going by on the busy, pedestrianised street. Service was good and friendly. Would recommend a visit.

10/10 would recommend! Our family of six truly enjoyed our dining experience at ozujsko pub. The atmosphere and staff are wonderful. Seating is comfortable and our service from Luka was the best we have had since living and traveling in Europe the past 4 years. Our kids all got different burgers and loved each bite. I had a veggie burger and grilled veggies instead of fries 10/10. My husband got a platter recommended by Luka and was glad he did. Thank you for this perfect dining experience.
Heather J — Google review
We waited 40 minutes for the order to arrive, the waitress recommended multiple times to have some fries without telling us the price and after we checked that regular fries cost 3,40€, in less than 2 minutes we asked her if we could change the fries with pub potatoes instead and the answer was absolutely no without even thinking or asking if it was possible. (They already made the fries in less than 2 minutes and they couldn't change?!) I saw they would bring the food to other tables that ordered after us, in less time than they served us but it wasn't possible to change the fries? I'm sure the fries weren't even ready when we asked to change. We asked for ketchup and the waitress said ketchup mayonesse? So we said ok and she brought us ketchup and mayo in small bags and charged them 1,40 (or 1,50€ i dont remember exactly) EACH!!! This is the first time except from fast foods that they charge us for ketchup and mayo. In the end, when we asked for the bill, we paid in cash and we waited more than 10 minutes for the change and when we asked the waitress for it she said she thought it was a tip...??! No we never told her to keep the change or anything, but of course she wanted to keep it. Unbelievable unprofessional behaviour. We always leave tips when we visit other places but this time I'm sorry to say that was the worst service we ever had, we weren't satisfied with how she treated us as guests. We saw other waiters there running all the time but unfortunately we weren't satisfied at all with the one that served us. Overall, burgers were good, chicken burger had too much paprika in the minced meat.

That said, it can get loud when busy, and service isn’t always flawless — but the food more than makes up for it.

Very tasty food but with average to bad service. The waiter was very rude and unprofessional. I did not repeat this restaurant for this reason, even the good quality food

We take a platter for two and a pie with spinach. The sis kebab was very tasty excellent. Sausages and small kebab excellent too. The bread homemade with butter very tasty. The problem was that rhe plater had no salad!!! So it's very difficulty to eat kebab only and bread and potatoes with no salad..so we didn't enjoy the kebab..if the platter had salad or any sauce would be excellent. The pie was very tasty. Service was awful...very delay with the food and we order and a salad that they never take it to our table.

When this place first opened, the food was really good, but now the quality has declined significantly. The food quality is horrible, and the portions are small compared to the prices. On one occasion, we even received sour kajmak that was past its expiration date, which could cause health issues. I can no longer recommend this place as it clearly needs big changes.

Best place in town to taste authentic Bosnian cuisine. Original cevapi and other dishes. Make sure you try Begova baklava! Free parking available in front of the restaurant. They also serve Sarajevsko Premium beer. Whatever you choose here can’t go wrong

Excellent authentic Bosnian restaurant. Minced meat meals are very tasty and made with quality ingredients, everything is spiced nicely, no need for salt or anything. There's lots of meat in all meat dishes and quantities are excellent. If you have a BIG appetite you want be disappointed! Staff is very friendly and helpful, they'll assist you with your choices and modify and dish if neccessary. Highly recommended!

Bistro Apetit, a highly acclaimed restaurant located in Zagreb's old quarter, is recommended by Michelin and has won multiple awards. The restaurant features floor-to-ceiling glass panels that seamlessly connect the dining area with the surrounding gardens, offering a serene dining experience. Chef-owner Marin Rendic curates menus that blend Croatian, French, and Italian influences and are regularly updated to showcase seasonal flavors. Guests are encouraged to trust the chef's selections for a delightful culinary journey.
Wonderful experience for me with my warm greetings to the chef Marin Rendic. Cozy atmosphere, surrounded by a Zagreb quiet and nice neighborhood. It’s a gastronomic experience guaranteed. The tasting menu accompanied by selection of wonderful wines, brings rich flavors on a original and delicious journey. Thank you Shelly for your invitation. We all enjoyed and hopefully we will repeat.

Our experience was not so good in total considering the pushy service. We went as a group and were offered welcome drinks by the glass, and later discovered those glasses were charged at 100 euros. It was surprising that they could charge so much for a welcome drink. While selecting our meals, the waiter frequently pressured us to try different dishes, suggesting various combinations and insisting on mixing items. The food was decent, but for a Michelin-star recommendation, it was not outstanding—though it tasted good, it didn't wow us. If it weren't for the negative experience with the pricing, I would have written a more positive review. The experience was so bad because of their attitude and I agree with others who suggest sticking to the menu and not move from it. Additionally, they informed us that they didn't have all the wines listed on the menu and would bring similar options instead. Everything is extra charged. The portions were small, typical of fine dining, but while we women were satisfied, our male friends were not so happy. Typically, fine dining establishments offer carefully designed chef's menus that, despite small portions, leave you feeling content. Inside seating is very limited, but the outside area is lovely. However, at one point, they played "Happy Birthday" very loudly for a next table's celebration, which felt out of place in a fine dining setting. Despite the pleasant outdoor ambiance, due to the pricing issues, I do not recommend this restaurant. I think it's a high chance to be taken advantage by prices especially for tourists

Excellent! They passed the test with the highest grade for an overall experience. Fine dining, tasting menu with top noch service! We were welcomed and given a table even though we haven’t made a reservation. And you might know that for this kind of haute cuisine one most certainly needs to book ahead so the chef is prepared... They follow the rules of zero food waste! The wine paring was on the point. You can see, that the main waiter (I forgot his name, unfortunately – my apologies) has gone through great sommelier education. He was an excellent host! Let’s see, if they can get a plant based menu for me on our next visit. That would be another test for them to pass! Haha

Superb service and a delectable tasting menu, and the matching Croatian wines are paired perfectly. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant!

Now, this is my absolute favorite restaurant in Zagreb! Thanks everyone from restaurant for the outstanding experience and many thanks Marko for great service. We had a 5 course meal, with a wine pairing. Everything was so tasty and special and good looking and wines were perfect! Considering the quality and service, the price is reasonable.
Paula B — Google review
Very good restaurant specialising in the fine dining experience that is still relatively rare in Croatia. Apetit definitely deserves five stars and is an interesting experience with some great techniques on display. The food is beautiful and artistic in composition. The Kvarner langoustine was wonderfully buttery and sweet, and well balanced with the beetroot-soaked orange and fresh sashimi. Tuna tartar was also great and the cuttlefish was excellent with a highly umami parmesan sauce. Top desert with tobacco-flavoured chocolate-ganache cigar, and some fun theatre with dry ice giving a Mediterranean scented smoke. In terms of negatives, my well-cooked flat fish was matched with some slightly bland lentils. The restaurant is relaxed in atmosphere, which is great, although the service was unusual - early in our meal we could barely go 3 minutes before a waiter would come to top up our water or wine, which is a little intrusive, but subsequently when we wanted to pay we felt slightly invisible. Having said that, the staff were immaculate and very polite. All in all, highly recommend and will certainly return since this is one of the top bracket of restaurants in Zagreb.

Really nice location up in the hills. Restaurant inside was elegant but still cosy. Decoration of plates was little old school for NY tadtw, but quality was really great. 5 courses each was fantastic except for the 5th..a plain cheese plate.. Come on guys.. So 4 stars but still a thumbs up
Rudolf Z — Google review
What an amazing experience. This restaurant is part of the recommended Michelin guide for a reason. I actually don't understand why they don't have at least 1 star yet; we've been to a 3-star Michelin star in the San Francisco Bay Area that was worse... Service was great, every single dish was amazing, wine pairing was perfect. The only small issue was that it's not only expensive (rightly so) but they are also a tad pushy with extras... we said yes to a couple of sparkling wine to stary, only to find out with the check that they were more expensive than the great bottle we shared with the meal...

Burgeraj, situated in the heart of Zagreb, is renowned for serving some of the city's finest burgers. Despite offering a limited selection, each burger is crafted to perfection with 100% fresh ingredients from local farms and homemade sauces. The establishment's small but carefully curated menu has garnered a cult following, with standout options like the Pepper Jam Burger and Tamari Burger drawing food enthusiasts from near and far.
It is not easy to distinguish your self among others on burger scene but they managed to do it. It's melting in your mouth like no other burger do and tastes amazing. Just to mention, beers selection is outstanding.

You will wait too long, burgers are small but they are the best burgers in Zagreb. Delicious :) If I go there with someone, we order 3 burgers. One and a half for each is a perfect measure :)
Dear V — Google review
One of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Burgeraj truly impressed me! I tried the Tamari Mushroom burger with shiitake, and the combination of ingredients was amazing — super rich, flavorful, with an incredible bun and top-quality meat. It is quite small, but the ideal portion size for the girls. But honestly, the potato chips stole the show — I loved them! The waitress was super nice, though we did wait a bit longer than expected even though the place wasn’t crowded at the time. Definitely coming back here!
Andreja — Google review
The burger was very tasty, though a bit small. It comes with a side of potatoes, which were also delicious. When we arrived there were available tables but the place was quite crowded and although reservations weren’t needed, people did have to wait a bit. Also for burgers we had to wait longer than expected. There are a few tables both inside and outside. The staff was friendly and the restaurant is child-friendly, which was a plus. Overall, a nice spot for a quick and tasty bite! If you like hamburgers you should try. They don't have such a big menu but you will find some classics that will satisfy you.
Tuğçe K — Google review
It's a little place, some furniture are actually damaged sadly, but in general, the atmosphere is amazing and the food too. I didn't expect competitive prices, but they are. My only fault was to arrive there starving after a flight and with no food from too long, fault because portions are not abundant, they are just perfect. I got used to oversize average taste burgers, but here you can find standard sized burgers with an incredible quality. Sure, you could wait 20-30 minutes, but absolutely worth it. Burger with mushroom just perfect, the taste of mushroom was strong but not overwhelming, perfectly balancing with everything else. Also chips were great and the price just perfect. Highly suggested

Barbecue restaurant
Tvornica Pljeskavica Kosta is a popular grill-house in Zagreb, known for its cult dining status and specializing in grilled minced-meat patties called pljeskavice. The menu offers plain ground-beef versions as well as spiced up options with hot peppers or nuggets of cheese. Owner Kosta, originally from southern Serbia, imports kajmak, a buttery cream that's a must-try side dish.
10/10 ćevapi, honestly don’t know when I’ve eaten better - flavourbombs, succulent, soft but still nicely seared and well caramelized. Sides perfectly complemented the meat (baked peppers and baked beans) and the bread was to die for, honestly could be eaten by itself. Service on point as well - quick and professional. Every recommendation for this restaurant!

Nice cozy place, our waiter could speak english and was helpful. We went there for the cevapi so we tried the simple version and the ones with cheese and spices and they were very good. They were serbian again, we are yet to find the acclaimed bosnian cevapi that are supposed to be the best the balkans have to offer. Unfortunately as the evening was setting in we couldn't sit outside as it was swarming with mosquitos and when we tried to sit inside we had the same problem, so i tried to eat asap so we could get out of that blood bath 🤣 They seriously need to address the mosquitos issue, other than that it's a nice place.

I think this place is a nice place to experience local food and Balkan tastes. I have already been here 3 times and everything was perfect every time I've been here. Waiters know English, and it is easy to communicate. The garden is so cosy and attractive to sit. I really recommend the beans that they offer, it was tremendously delicious. The place is so close to the Vjesnik tram station, so it is also very convenient to access. Definitely worth to go!!

This a great restaurant for typical Croatian barbecued meats. The čevapi here is some of the best I've had in Zagreb. I love the baked beans too. Nice service with pretty fair prices, as well as a photo menu for those who don't speak Croatian. I highly recommend this place - we will be going back for sure. You may want to make reservations if going on the weekend, it gets busy.

Best staff, best food, best location. Small big place. Very welcoming staff. The dishes were great. the green and salad side dishes could be a dish in themselves. Loved the Italian radicchio (red slightly bitter salad). Green beans with Parmesan were also great. Monkfish was perfect. Mango dessert was beautiful and tasty. Excellent wines by the glass. Dog friendly.

Definitely the best meal I've enjoyed in Croatia. Service was fantastic - no need to look at the menu, just tell the staff what you are looking to enjoy. Wine recommendations were on point as well.
Low H — Google review
We just walked in and asked for a table. The answer was a little too friendly, as I was expecting something more like, "Unfortunately, we are fully booked today. Would you like a table outside?" The outside area has its own atmosphere, but be aware that the restroom is just over the wall from the tables. But the inside looks good. Overall, the main courses were quite good—the filet mignon and the mackerel, in particular. But at around €30 each, they should be. I ordered the focaccia as a starter. For a restaurant with a Bib Gourmand rating, it looked and tasted weird, and I couldn't find any olive oil. The side dish, a summer salad, isn't worth mentioning. It was just a kind of green that didn't seem like a proper salad and was too salty. The wine was good, except that the glasses were placed on the left side of the table. They didn't charge for the salad, but I'm not sure if it was a generous gesture due to its saltiness or if they just forgot about it in the first place. If you visit with a positive attitude, the main dishes are absolutely worth the price.

Love the fact that somebody suddenly decided to make Croatian food with a twist. These are definitely all Croatian staples but prepared in an interesting, new and unfamiliar way! The place itself is cozy and the staff is friendly and helpful. The wine list is quite extensive and definitely ask for some recommendations if unsure what to get. If all the dishes are as good as the ones I had, you’re in for a treat. I’m definitely coming again to try the lamb… the radicchio side dish was amazing!

Great spot, friendly staff. really good barbecue and selection of hot sauces, and amazing selection of beer both on tap and from the fridge! Prices are about what you'd expect from a restaurant in the center, certainly not cheap, but not prohibitively expensive. Since I first went here in January, I've been back twice, and plan to go back again soon!

My wife and I stopped for lunch here, and it was excellent. First, the views from the second floor terrace were excellent. It was a warm day, and the terrace was shaded by large umbrellas, and there was a soft breeze. Very pleasant! The food was tasty and the beer was excellent. Some very nice IPAs, a welcome break from the ever-present lagers of Croatia.

This place is a masterpiece. The food is ridiculously good. The beer list is extensive, though I’ve mostly stuck to one flawless option (I’m not naming it, it's mine, pick something else). The vibe? Effortlessly perfect. Even the music is not just background noise, it's your favourite playlist on shuffle. Right by the door, there’s an entire shrine of hot sauces. 🌶️ My only regret is discovering, when I came home, that I had food in my teeth while paying the bill. I’ll be remembering that at 3 a.m. for the next twenty years.

As a prominent figure in Zagreb's burgeoning craft beer scene, The Garden Brewery also serves as a sought-after late-night establishment, drawing international DJs and local talent for lively parties.
Came here whilst on a weekend break for a family birthday - absolutely fantastic guided tour of the brewery and operation- the guide and master brewer Louis was really informative and enthusiastic. Then we had a few samples of the lager and IPA - get ready they are strong! Ranging between 3% & 10%, it’s got something for everyone. As a bonus, the food was amazing too! Highly recommended trip out if you are interested in this type of thing.

Loved it here. The staff were very friendly and the beer was excellent. They had 4-5 sours on tap, and sometimes it’s hard to find sours. It had rained the day before we came so the patio was pretty wet. They had nice covered patios for people to sit under outside and there was ample seating inside. I liked the airstream outside—cute touch. There is food to eat there, submarine and another restaurant.

Very friendly staff. Good selection of beers, both on tap and in cans — including their own craft brews. We took a few cans to go — the beer was excellent: affogato stout, mango IPA, and more. In my last few holidays in Croatia I fell in love with this company and it‘s beers. So a visit to the actual brewery was a no brainer as I was in Zagreb for a few days. Exceptional sour beers and service with great ambience and plenty of seating to enjoy an evening. Also super convenient to have two food hall options on site to choose from. The smash burgers at Submarine were so tasty with thin patties and delicious melted cheese and the chicken and cheese fries at the other stall were superb.

A must for all beer lovers. Non-smoking!!! Very hard to find such a place in Zagreb. And you won’t stay hungry too, there are two small street food buffets offering tasty meals, even for vegans or vegetarians. And you can buy some beer home too.

I was there on a Saturday for the brewery tour, and it was well worth it! Conor led us through the brewery. He explained the brewery's processes in detail and with humor. After the tour, we enjoyed a tasting in the brewery's beautiful garden area. Conor worked overtime and stayed with our group for a few more beers, during which we chatted about everything and laughed a lot. In between, we got delicious burgers from Submarine, which is located right in the same building. Unfortunately, they didn't have the full selection of beers (on tap and in cans) at this time of year. Otherwise, it was an all-around great experience, and the tour, including the tasting for €20, plus a 20% discount on any subsequent consumption, was a very fair deal. The Garden Brewery is definitely high on my list if I return to Zagreb.

Cool decorations, the design really gives it an "worn-out" look, something that many pubs are desperately trying to achieve. Also, it is huge! This place is little hidden gem! The menu has seasonal section, so had to try the soup - and it was amazing, but the homemade pasta with aceto, tomatoes and parmesan - perfect! The meat platter was well combined, with different options - from baked to fried meat. Side potatoes and vegetables perfectly balanced the meal. The service and ambient was pleasant and nice.

Nice, traditional food. Fast service. Reservation definitely needed especially for the weekends. They have their own parking but small so better to come earlier to figure out parking option. Food was very good. Traditional Croatian food with a great atmosphere! Perfect for big groups and celebrations, and also very child-friendly. welcoming environmen.

The restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu features beautifully presented dishes made from fresh, high-quality ingredients bursting with flavor. The service is outstanding—our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, making us feel truly valued throughout the meal. His recommendations enhanced the entire experience. We will gladly return and recommend this place to everyone. Overall, a top-notch spot for delicious food and excellent hospitality.

This was a great discovery for me, never been here before. Food is absolutely amazing! Prices are affordable, and the interior is really nice. Outside terrace is operational during the winter as it has heating. Separate smoking area outside next to the terrace. Haven’t been inside but I am sure it also looks great. Traditional food from Medimurje region of Croatia, if you are in the area make sure to stop by.

A very decent and cozy restaurant, nicely decorated. The service is very quick and friendly. The cuisine here is mostly comprised of authentic Croatian meals. I have tried the fileki and it was delicious (and a huge portion!). The prices are also very competitive and they have the daily menu which costs a little bit less than the other meals. You can make a reservation, and also the guests have free parking in the back.

Food was very good - lamb meat excellent and soft with grilled vegetable, soup also. Tasty cakes with extraordinary good icecream. I would like to see veniger and oil on the table but I am sure that very kind waiter would bring it if we asked. The same as he brought tap water at our request. I do not know the prices as my friend treated me.Service kind, atmosphere nice.

The best traditional food of Međimurje County in Zagreb. Definitely one of the best restaurant in Zagreb. If you are more into fish try Tuna. Also they serve the best Gibanica of Međimurje. Walnuts, poppy seeds, apples and cheese are joined in a layered cake which delights with its juiciness, and a taste that is reminiscent of orchards and fields and represents a mandatory sweet morsel for every celebration.  Definitely must visit restaurant in Zagreb.

Our dinner at Tajer was absolutely fantastic. The food was exceptional, i had beefsteak in pepper sauce and my parter had duck with mlinci. Both meals were phenomenal and our server, Josip, was incredibly helpful, friendly, and his recommendations for both food and wine were perfect. Highly recommend!

Fast food restaurant
Good Food is a popular fast-casual chain with multiple locations in Zagreb and Split. They prioritize using fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients to create a diverse menu that includes rich salads, sandwiches, burgers like the Gourmet 42 made with aged baby beef, cheddar cheese, and caramelized onion. Additionally, they offer healthy options such as Good Bowls featuring rice or quinoa with chicken or vegetarian versions with avocado and fresh vegetables.
I was in Zagreb for a few days and still i ate here for like 4 times because the food is so so good, and yet its a healthier version.Great service, loved everything about this place🫶🥑

Anything but "good food". For context, I ordered this beef tortilla a few times in the past and it was passable. I came back here after half a year or so to find that they reduced the size by ~30% and it also arrived absolutely *drenched* in oil and sticking to some colored paper. The tortilla wrap was also obviously reheated in a microwave. All that for just €7.5. For context, in central Manhattan I can get a killer steak burrito that's twice the size of this wrap for just $11. I certainly won't pay for this shit again.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve had! I tried the beef tortilla and the chicken tortilla, both were incredibly delicious and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The restaurant itself is clean, nicely decorated, and has a welcoming vibe. Staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended if you’re looking for quality food and a great atmosphere

This was my first time in Good Food. I tried their new Fit&Sit bowl - Balanced Body with Chicken, white cheese, arugula, red cabbage, spinach, marinated beets, broccoli, cucumber, purple onion, cherry tomatoes, apple, cashews, dried cranberries + Libra sauce. It was so delicious and has everything your body needs to be perfect and balanced. I will be back for sure. 🙂

Quick service, tasty grub, smack dab in the centre. Ordered a Mexican tortilla, but it's more like a burrito, and the Crispy in Love salad - delicious crispy chicken and sauce! Highly recommend.
Alena — Google review
It's a small restaurant, and my review is based on a single occurrence and a based on two food items. other dishes may be great. We rocked up at 10.30pm and had to take away. We ordered the double trouble burgers and chips. The burgers were terrible, the breast is mushy, the meat pay was , no idea how to describe it, flavourless, the combination of bad cheese, soggy lettuce, pickles, etc just tasted like terrible goo. It was the mushiest burger ever. The French fries were hot, bland, and tiny for euro 3.30. I wish evergreen sushi was open.

Decent food, freshly made and reasonably priced. Had soup of the day and rice bowl - both good sized serving. Small seating area inside ~12 persons.

Croatian restaurant
Marenda Niko is a popular and well-kept secret in Zagreb, known for serving traditional Dalmatian dishes like octopus salad, fish soup, and pasta with mussels. The restaurant uses top-quality ingredients and offers a selection of luxurious options like scampi. While not super cheap, the average price per dish is around 15.
No one speak English but the staffs are friendly, food is good taste
Warsaw K — Google review
Perfect food, everything was very tasteful and beautiful decorated. Also we liked the wine.
Andrea L — Google review
Cozy little restaurant with authentic Dalmatian food. One of the rare places in Zagreb where you can eat fresh fish and seafood. The service is a little bit slow. The menu changes daily, but it's mostly comprised of Croatian specialties and desserts. A little bit pricey, but it's worth the atmosphere.
Ivan M — Google review
Hidden behind a huge beer brewery, Marenda is a superb local eatery, serving honest Dalmatian fare. It is a lunch place, so don't come too late, and it sells out most of the food on the daily menu by 4PM. House wine is superb. Unfortunately, there are no vegetarian options and fish is mostly reserved for Fridays, but the selection of vegetables served as side dishes is large and most people.manage to find something.
Nenad V — Google review
Very authentic local food, though place is small. It is highly recommended to book table to have lunch.

Perfect national food,good personal,friendly price...recommend!!!
Alex M — Google review
Nice small restaurant that only serves fresh food that they receive same day. Because of that menu is quite limited, but food is very tasty. Polite and professional staff. Very fair prices. Location is not so attractive, but main strong point is quality of food.
Vedran H — Google review
The food we got was good. The waiter didn't speak any English but he was very friendly and patient. However this caused us to have to pay for a number of things which we thought were included such as soup, salad, deli meat. He also didn't understand tap water so we ended up having to pay for a bottle as well. Overall though it came out to 173 Kuna for 2 people so it wasn't entirely bad. The place was very empty when we got there around 12:30 and started bustling around 13:15. It seems to be a local favorite and not very touristy at all. The door says it closes at 23:00 but the first time we tried to eat there it was closed already and they said they close around 17:00 or whenever the guests stop trickling in.
