This place does not deserve even 1 star. The first time we had Disaronno sour, it was the the best cocktail that we ever had. The bartender is a guy who's a professional cocktail maker. He's the best! It started going downhill since that guy left. The waitress there now makes the worst cocktail and has absolutely the worst attitude. This cocktail literally tastes like orange juice now. Paid 50 Kunas for this disaster. Where is the cherry? It looks nothing like the picture any more. I bet they can't open this place for too long if they keep having these kind of people who with poor work ethic. Will never go there again!

Avoid! If you don’t want wait for a long time to be served. Unfortunately extremely poor and slow service but here is a very nice spot to take a look on the beauty building of the Croatian National theatar.

I‘ve never been to a Café worse than this. The waitress seemed like she did not want to be there, just like us! Our order was completely messed up but she insisted that it was correct. On top of that the coffee tasted old and the milk like it had gone bad. I would friendly, yet strongly advise against visiting this establishment.

In Central position in zagreb, in front of the opera house, do not serve food during the summer but cocktails are very well presented and extremely good. It is your place if you don't mind to spend a couple of euros more for a very well made cocktail. The Interior is simple and has few tables on the outside areas.

Being a student-run place, it offers great fun for relatively low price. It's a caffe in the morning and the afternoon, and at night it turns into a club with very wide variety of events, so there's something for everyone.

Legendary place! Celebrating 40+ years of operation. Cheap prices and great programmes. It's run by a student organization and is an essential part of Zagreb night life and student life in general. Cheap and good coffee during the day, cheap and OK beer during the evening with a various programme ranging from movie projections, music concerts, live performances, karaoke, theatre plays all the way to workshops etc. If you are near and something from their programme got your attention. Great student club with variety of quality concerts and other programmes for students and others. They also have sections that contribute to their programme (theatre section, video, music etc.).

You cannot describe the feeling of 40 years of tradittion and legacy crammed ito one place. Feels like home.

Misleading marketing! 🚫🚫🚫 I ordered online and was supposed to get a discount for my cola and coffee. 1 euro less. I did everything as instructed on the website. However, I was charged full price. When asked waiter how is that possible he said " duck it " 🤷‍♂️😒 What kind of impolite and unprofessional service is this? I will not bankrupt for 1 euro, but the shame is on you and your bar now. Was it worth it?

The service was just absolutely terrible. The waiter was rude. We ordered drinks and were peacefully drinking them when one of the waiters approached us and rudely and aggressively told us to pay for the drinks even though we didn’t finish them. When we got the money ready he just disappeared and we had to wait for 15 minutes for him to go to the counter and take our payment. It is a shame and not a nice experience

Nice designed location in the center of Zagreb. You can have also something to eat (the menu is not offering a lot, but the food is tasty). It has got a big terrace with a nice view over the square. Prices are not very low but I think they are worthy.

This place is Big and spacious has a nice terrace facing the main square, inside the upper floor is a restaurant dedicated for tapas and wine bar called Sol, you must reserve before to come in… the place gets busy and loud at night. Coffee is very good. Service was polite you can pay with card or cash. Toilets need attention were dirty

I like the Johann Franck Café a lot, because I think it's very classy. Located right on the famous Ban Jelačić Square, it's the perfect spot for spending a little time, enjoy some food and drinks and watch the people walk by. We went there twice: One time we had some snacks during the day and the other time we enjoyed some cocktails. Everything was fine, and we liked the cocktails a lot. Only the staff seemed a bit inattentive.😉

Very rude female waitresses. They ignored me several times even though they saw me waive my hand to let them know I wanted to order until a male waiter saw me and came to take my order. I came in a sunny Sundy afternoon, and the place was packed full. I ordered flat white and sparkling water. The flat white was average. Nothing special.

Beautiful garden overlooking the square in the city center. We waited 10 minutes for waiter to come to take the order. I even called one, but he didn't respond. They should go around the tables in the first row more offten and see who is coming and going. Payment is by cash or card. Caffee should renovate the toilet because it is really a shame for a bar like this to have such a toilet.

What an absolutely fabulous experience in Zagreb! I am a self proclaimed Oenophile and so I could not pass up an opportunity to visit Bornstein Wine bar while in Zagreb. During my time in Croatia I really enjoyed learning about their unique wines, wine culture and processing. This experience was truly unique and the prices here are very affordable. We were taken care of by a woman named Doris who was so patient in answering all my questions and thorough in her explanations of the wines, history and regions. She went out of her way to make the experience special including making sure I got to try wines that I hadn't already tasted elsewhere. All the wine was paired with a wonderful cheese, olive and bread tray enhancing and elevating the wines. The atmosphere here is so cool, you feel like you are transported to a centuries old wine cellar including getting to see the oldest bottle of wine in Croatia! I would definitely frequent this place if I lived in Zagreb for unique glasses of rare wines, and even do the wine tasting multiple times due to the fact that Doris picked different wines to create a new experience. If you love wine and learning about wine, or just a good glass you can't get just anywhere I highly recommend going here.

We did the Croatian Tour wine tasting menu. This was great! The owner was very knowledgeable and we had a great time. The wine tasting came with a selection of cheeses which were all delectable, and a small bowl of bread with a Croatian olive oil. Would highly recommended for both people who know a little about wine and for the experts as the history of the wine was the main focus. A must-go if you’re in Zagreb.

Doris was most helpful, explaining the terroir of each of the wines we tasted. The Istrian meat and cheese plates were an excellent way to complement the wines. It’s clear that the owners are passionate about their craft. A most enjoyable evening.

I can't rate the food as we just went for late night drinks. Fabulous wine bar just a few minutes walk from Ban Jelačića Square, nice and close to the centre but in a quiet part of town. Great atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating, the building and place look stunning. Owners are knowledgeable and know their wines, I had a new variety of white that I tried called Pusipel which was stunning - dry and crisp. Just what I wanted! Highly recommend this place, worth a visit to do some wine tasting, sit, relax and enjoy the stunning ambiance.

The wine flight with olives and bread was fantastic. Tasty Croatian wines and a wine education to go with it. I wish we had found this place sooner!

We had an evening of beers and burgers at this bar. The beer selection is very extensive and the waitress helped in making our choices as we were unfamiliar with the local craft brewers. Burgers came from an onsite street food vendor. They were massive and very tasty. At €11 for a double cheeseburger (including fries) seemed pretty good value. Worth noting that the burger vendor only accepts cash (cards are fine for the bar).

This was a great find for locals and visitors alike. Great burgers and fries from the Blue Haired guy at KSS (situated within Beertija) and cold beer and cocktails from Beertija. Credit cards or euros accepted at both Beertija and KSS. Cigar and cigarette smoking is welcomed. If weather is stormy, windy or cold, Beertija has indoor and undercover seating.

A very quirky pub just on the outskirts of the city centre. A great selection of drinks, especially local beers. The pub and music is very rock themed which I loved. The atmosphere was a bit quiet, but I did visit on a Monday early evening so that's probably why. But overall, would recommend visiting for a beer or two.

The pub offers a wide selection of beers from Croatia, Poland, Czech Republic and international brands like Heineken. The prices are fair prices and the place is lovely decorated. In case you are nearby, it's definitely a place to stop by. From the conversations around me this pub is populated by locals - could not hear many people seek English.

Underage people all over the club. Dirty bar and venue. Very bad sound system and poor management. Even the spirits selection they have are horrible. Save your time and money and go somewhere else, this club should be closed and I hope the city close it soon

Good club to visit if you're in the area and want to skip going to the city centre. You have to pay for the entrance. Inside quite a lot of space plus if they open the back terrace it gets bigger. Drinks expensive. Music was good and staff was ok. People start coming after 11.30, 12 so don't come early.

Very poor quality security and very rude staff. Their organization is horrible as they have 0 communication with each other. You still have to pay for the ticket even though you made a pricey reservation. Dj is 2/10. Do not recommend. Btw there is no actual roof.

I left this club crying. I was the only person of colour in that club and got asked what county I’m from. Was ignored when people were talking to my my friend which she was White and felt like I didn’t belong there. Probably the worst feeling and experience I’ve been in.

Amazing restaurant in Zagreb. All local produce! The meats, cheese and the cod pate were to die for. And once again drank the local red, a Shiraz . Did not disappoint! What was absolutely outstanding was the bread.

Yesterday it was such a bad experience with this bar. There were me and my friend. We ordered 2 glasses of wine. Had some conversation and in some moment asked to pay by card. We paid by card separately. My friend have not finished her glass after we paid so we were sitting and talking and she was finishing her glass. The waiter met some guests, they we choosing the table not far from us and the waiter asked me: when are you going to leave? I told him it is so rude from his side. I don’t know his name, he has light hair. It is inappropriate to send guests away in such an impolite manner. I have never faced such an attitude from waiters. I am visiting this place not for the first time, so it was very bad surprise

I had the pleasure of being served by Hamza during my recent visit, and I have to say, his hospitality was exceptional. Not only was he friendly and attentive, but his knowledgeable of the local wines, cured meat’s and cheeses really elevated the experience. He made great recommendations and shared facinating insights about the areas food culture. It’s rare to come across someone so passionate and knowledgeable about what they are serving. Hamza truly made our dining experience memorable. A BIG thank you to him for making our visit so special!

Exactly how it sounds 😁 However, it is not a beer factory, just a metal/rock bar. I like it. Great music. It is expensive tho. I payed 2 beers almost 10 euros. Few years ago that was unimaginable in Croatia. Also it is full of smoke .🚬 Toilet has no lock, and the number of urinals is ridicculosly small (2) if compared to the capacity of the bar. And only 3 waiters. 🤯 They are overworked and stressed. 🥲

I was there a few days ago on a pub quiz. The place was completely packed with people, and anyway, the waiter's were very fast and efficient. Great atmosphere, great music, and great food. If you're in Zagreb, don't skip this place.

Ordered a 'Fungi' pizza, received a pie with thick dough, covered with extremely salty cheese (or a cheese substitute) which made it barely edible. There was almost no mushrooms on the pizza as shown on the photo, just a very few very thin slices. You could not smell or taste the mushrooms, that's how little there was. I might give them another chance, but definitely not with any kind of pizza. In response to bff's response - I had other pizzas in Zagreb and all over the world, either it is not the same cheese or someone dropped a salt shaker in it. My point is that it was not quite edible.

One of the best places to visit in Zagreb if you love rock. I'm a regular ever since the club opened because of a single reason - it remains one of the best bars/clubs in Zagreb. The drinks are reasonably priced and offered in a wide selection and their staff is quick and polite. It also features live rock gigs at least once a week all year round with some great instrumental sessions out in the open in the summer. Right next door is the Bikers Food Factory, run by the same folks and offering some great food they'll happily serve at your table as you enjoy the great atmosphere. Pay it a visit and you won't regret it.

I read the reviews before coming here. Unlike North America, no one greets you as you walk in and wait to be seated. They actually ignore you until you ask for service. After that, service was okay. Had a few drinks there. A little pricier than other places I’d been earlier...

I Was meeting a friend for a drink. I ordered a glass Baileys ... not sure what happened it was so watery and full of ice that though I was drinking only dirty water. Service was quick The place is relative big the terrace is very spacious. I decline trying food in there since I was dissatisfied with my drink

Not a WINE bar, just a bar. As indeed wine selection is short plus nothing special about them. Though, what truly deserves these 2 stars is the price for a mix platter : 184 kuna (24€), more expensive than in Paris, congratulations for this achievement !!! When for a better quality platter, same size, we paid 89 kuna (11€) in a true wine bar elsewhere in Zagreb. Disappointed by the tourist scam I encountered at La Bodega, but oh well luckily Zagreb has plenty of other good spots.

Great place with a large assortment of wines. It's a great place to sample local wines. Staff is very knowledgeable on their products and can speak about the history of each of their wines. They also offer indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is heated in colder months

The place has great selection of craft beers on tap and even more bottled. The atmosphere is laid back, and with alternative vibes. There are not many seating options but you can stand and mingle since there is large open floor and the place is buzzing with guests even on working nights. The venue also hosts a record store upstairs and a club doenstairs. Its worth visiting.

Place looks like you entered into 80's, nicely decorated with old chairs and tables. Minimalistical. Good for morning coffee. It's also a pet friendly bar. In level -1 there are concerts, so if you look for good place little bit out of city center and Main square check this place. Beer is around 15HRK (2€).

Nice music and atmosphere, simple but cozy interior, it's also dog-friendly and has a cool store upstairs. But the waitress was several times a little bit unfriendly and obviously not interested in having customers, because she never mentioned that there was also a second room downstairs. The third time we went there, we already wanted to leave again because no table was free and she just told us to look around for ourselves. Fortunately, another costumer assigned us to the stairs which lead to the basement, where there were several free tables and the owner apologized later for the misunderstanding.

One of my favourite places in Zagreb to drink coffee, grab some beer and enjoy good atmosphere that's always in the air when I come there. They have various types of events so you can attend dub party, punk night or hip hop concert at the same week. The best thing is that they have merchandise and record shop on the first floor. And pink toilet, really pink.

It is lunch time and we are the only ones having lunch. The place looks nice. The food looks good but it was so incredibly salty that it destroyed the whole tasting experience. It is quite expensive too. The time is a good bar but a restaurant to avoid.

I had a vegetarian curry, which is quite good and surprisingly innovative in terms of curry. I also had a order of avocado roll. Somehow I don’t like them although I think they taste good. The only thing I’d criticize about this restaurant is that it smells like smoke too much, it affected my dining experience.

Asian food in Zagreb centar! Great place for lunch or dinner. Amazing sushi! Awesome waiters and great ambient. Food is prepared as you order it, nothing is done upfront. You have to make reservation since they are always crowded but ita worth it! If you come early or want to stay later you have bar there and you can party there. Staff is great and everything is perfect. I definitly recommend this restoran and bar to who ever loves great sushi or asian food and wants to experience great ambient. Prices are on the higher scale but it is worth it.

I absolutely love this place. One of my favorite places in the city, coffee place, wine place, sushi place..depends what you need at the moment, but it has great energy, staff is very polite, place is cozy, elegant and very stylish. Sometimes I go there just to drink glass of wine and relax from busy day, but definitely try what they offer. My usual choice is sushi but also other fusion what they offer is very good. Try their famous ice cream frozen with nitro (Cheese cake icecream, omg delicious❤️). Wine list is more then good. Also, place is good in autumn and winter for night out. Try it, it is just glance away from the main square. You will always find time for time😎

Went there for new year's Eve. Got a bit excited because it was Michelin recommended with Asian Fusion food. Food was average at best. The ramen they had on the menu was made from spaghetti. The fish curry was very average and the maki was also sub par. I'm Asian, so most probably I was expecting something more different, but I can tell that the fusion part was the restaurant trying to suit the local taste. Waiter was kind. But service was extremely slow. Won't recommend.

We were in Boogaloo for the first time for the Hooverphonic concert. Amazing club atmosphere, cosy setting, no hustle to get a drink at the bar.

Great place for a (EDM) party. Just the right size. Toilets are decent, security guys are professional and nice. Visiting 2-3 times each year from Ljubljana :)

Didn’t try the food but drink prices are reasonable, friendly service. The night I was in, the DJ was quite mediocre, didn’t enjoy too much, left after 2 hours. With other DJ probably I’d go again.

Everything is great, but please invest in air conditioning because during the concert it's almost impossible to be inside. This is why I often decide not to go to concerts and similar events. (I'm not the only one who thinks so)

I think it's one of the most important bars in Zagreb in the alternative scene, they always bring quality artists, the drinks are well priced and the atmosphere is pleasant.

Nice club with tasty food and a comfortable atmosphere. Amazing music and art. It wouldn’t be bad if the building would just get renovated since it’s a little bit run down. Since on Google it doesn’t say “dogs allowed”, they could be allowed inside and outside if they’re not right now.

A lot has changed in the last 15years since i last been there. Toilets and rest of the club is clean and nice, no risk of diseases like before. 🤣 But it was hot like hell, some ventilation would be nice. And your audio tech sucks, louder isnt always better. 😘

Pivnica Mali Medo on Zagreb's main and vibrant Tkalčićeva Street is a place you can't miss. The location is perfect - right on the central entertainment street, with a large terrace that lets you soak up the bustling atmosphere. The food focuses on traditional Croatian pub dishes, which felt good, generous, and almost homemade. I especially recommend trying dishes like fried chicken fingers. Despite the crowds, the service was kind and friendly, and the waitress was very efficient and kind. In summary, this is a great place to combine quality beer, tasty, reasonably priced Croatian food, and a central location with a lively atmosphere in the heart of Zagreb.

We were looking for a place to have a quick dinner and when we discovered this restaurant/ beer hall, we couldn't resist. Three things we loved about it: 1. Fantastic service. Mario is a professional, funny and very fast waiter that speaks several languages and knows one or two things about beers. 2. Food was absolutely delicious. I had Gnocchi in four cheese sauce and a salad. So good in this meat dominant culture. 3. It was an absolute treat to try their Fakin IPA. It is so freaking tasty! If you are an IPA worshiper, this is the perfect place for you.

Unfortunately, I have to leave a negative review. I was served a beer that had a black something at the bottom of the glass. This is completely unacceptable from a hygiene and safety perspective. The staff did not respond. Situations like this should never happen in any restaurant. I definitely do not recommend this place and won’t be coming back.

Fried cheese was good but a bit cold, cevapi was just ok, a little chewy for some reason. Ribs were decent. Service was OK but felt a little awkward after I accidentally ordered a Staropramen beer and was told they only serve their own microbrew beers.

Maybe it was an off day but here are a list of all the notable things that left a bad taste in my mouth: - The service was nearly non-existent. Once seated we had to ask for the menu, ask to order, waited an abnormally long time for our courses to come out and to get the check - I think the waiter spent more time flirting with the lady at the table next to us than paying attention to our table. She wrote him a long note on the placemat and he spent some time going to the coat area to put it in his coat? Very strange… - My glass was dirty and only noticed after my drink was poured into it, meaning that they tossed it and poured more from the bottle that we purchased (so it was wasted) - Initially I was given the incorrect wrong main dish. The correct one was relatively quick to come out, but we knew the other dishes were ready and getting cold - we were given “bread from the kitchen” which was actually an “optional” menu item. The bread was cold and the butter was okay, but if I had known it was extra cost I don’t think I would have ordered it. To be clear, this was given to us without having asked - when the check came, we were told multiple times that “service charge was not included” without an option to add anything when paying by card. This tactic felt like a “tourist trap” technique to take advantage of tipping culture and get it in cash? The food overall was okay but the service really ruined it for us. I wouldn’t come back which is sad because I was excited to try this place

This was by far the best food I had in three cities in Croatia!!!! Absolutely delicious Beef Cheeks, with a decadent sauce. Just wonderful! Had to send back an old fashion drink due to not being made correctly but I will excuse that for the delicious food 😉

Dining here was one of our best experiences throughout Croatia…everything came together, the food (compliments to the chef!!) the service from Alen and the excellent recommendations from our wine sommelier, Kiki. Kiki was able to perfectly match our food with wine and at the end of the meal shared a tasty wine aperitif which I thoroughly enjoyed! .Alen, our waiter, was great at bringing our dishes in a timely manner and was very thorough at describing each of our dishes! Thank you for making our dining experience so memorable!!

Hands down, one of the best meals we have ever had and a top highlight of our trip to Zagreb. Service was exemplary. Each course was creative and better than the last. Food was so fresh. Outstanding from start to finish. 5 stars isn’t enough.

Amazing restaurant, we were in awe before the plates, the food was beyond spectacular. Every dish was packed full of subtle flavors, and each bite was a joy to the mouth. Truly one of the best restaurant I've ever had. The service was on par with the food, and Ian was there to help us with every if our need, explaining the contents of our plates or bringing us more bread. We were welcomed with top notch service and food for the affordable price of ≈40€ for main course and dessert. I truly recommend this place to anyone who has even a passing interest in quality food, as this is a wonderful experience that was a highlight of our stay in Zagreb. Merci beaucoup !

I picked this restaurant as a treat for my partners birthday. We both chose a four course menu. The food and the flavours were great. I really enjoyed the veal croquette amuse bouche and the veal tartar. The traditional Croatian meals turned into Michelin style plates was a nice touch especially with the cabbage dish. And the salmon pearls were exceptional. I’d say the fish was ok, and my partners duck was slightly under. But otherwise a very pleasant meal. The cherry dessert was a great surprise. Our waitress was lovely and explained everything perfectly. It’s a shame the restaurant wasn’t more busy as it’s a great place, a little out of the way.

We had the pleasure of enjoying a memorable lunch at Dubravkin Put—our very first Michelin-starred experience. Tucked away near Tuškanac forest, the serene surroundings matched the refined yet relaxed ambiance inside. We went with the 3-course menu, starting with veal medallions served warm—beautifully tender and elegantly plated. The white fish fillet followed, subtly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Peach Melba rounded things off with its nostalgic sweetness and lovely balance. On the à la carte side, we ordered the Croatian tenderloin aged steak. It arrived without any sauce or decorative garnish, which momentarily surprised us. Perhaps it’s a minimalist approach to let the flavour of the meat take center stage—and in fairness, it was richly flavourful and impeccably cooked. The rustic pairing of chard and potatoes made for a satisfying complement. We finished with the indulgent Le Louis XV—a layered chocolate creation that felt regal in every bite. Service was generally warm and professional, although there was a small hiccup: our waiter brought a second bottle of water after we declined. Likely a simple miscommunication, and not something that detracted from the overall experience. A sophisticated lunch that invites you to slow down and savor. Highly recommended for those looking to explore elevated Croatian cuisine in a stunning setting.

I was VERY excited to come here and the food was pretty good but I must say as an avid Michelin star restaurant frequenter, I do not understand how this restaurant received a Michelin star. The service was terrible, and not because of attitude or rudeness but sheer lack of communication. The waiter didn't tell us when the food had pork although we said no pork several times until after we put in our order. He didn't communicate the menu price are set in a specific way. He gave me sister in law 2 purse rests and didn't give me any. He was extremely slow. Also, the fish was dry. Other than that while the food was good it was nothing amazing or at the standard of what I've come to expect from a Michelin star restaurant.

Great food, awesome service and wonderful ambience. Nested in the greenery away from town centre, it sets a perfect tranquil backdrop for enjoying food that was done with care, love and attention. We had the 3-course lunch menu €55. Every dish was done well. No drinks menu. Just tell them the type of drink preferred and it will be served. Reservations were made months in advance via email which they replied promptly. Due to last minute itinerary changes, we requested for a change in timing to an off-peak one, which they gladly assisted with. We would gladly visit this Michelin restaurant again when we are in Zagreb.

Amazing food, relaxed patio, and great service. Stopped in for lunch on my first day in the city. The restaurant sat between hills on the edge of town, so despite being close to the main tourist drag, it felt calm and tucked away. At lunch the place was nearly empty, so I was able to snag one of the best tables on the patio. For lunch, they were offering 3- and 4-course menus, but I wanted their signature dishes that weren’t included. Ended up going with the 3-course and adding the black cuttlefish risotto and the Louis XV dessert. White Fish Carpaccio (Sea bass, black olive powder, basil emulsion) – Instead of thin slices, the sea bass was minced into a compact cylinder, sidestepping the flakiness that usually makes bass tricky as carpaccio. The basil emulsion and olive powder brought plenty of umami, though flavor-wise it was somewhat expected. Black Cuttlefish Risotto with Langoustine Carpaccio – The signature dish. The risotto itself was seasoned only with cuttlefish ink which left room for the langoustine to carry the flavor. On its own the carpaccio might have been too delicate, but paired with the langoustine cream it became fully indulgent. Perfectly al dente rice and chewy cuttlefish bits made it so satisfying. Slovenian Pork Neck with Smoked Potato Cream, Pork Fat Crumbles, Demi-glace, Grilled Zucchini – A more classic pork plate, except for the pork fat crumbles. Still, probably the best pork I’ve had recently. Gorgeous marbling, fat that melted just right, and the crumbles layered over potato cream kept the dish intensely pork-driven and undiluted throughout the dish. Poached Pear – Firmer than expected, with the usual chantilly cream pairing. What made it special were the honey-glazed walnuts, which gave much-needed intensity to the slightly underripe, less-sweet pear. Louis XV – Added this on since it’s billed as their signature dessert. Essentially a very well-made chocolate mousse cake. Fun, yes, but not necessary if you’re already hitting the edge of a food coma.

Great service and pretty great food! We didn’t love the red fish main dish but aside from that the food was great and they were very accommodating with allergies.

Amazing experience! Food was extraordinary, and not a single bad thing can be said about everything we ate. Steak tatar best we ever ate, both steaks perfectly cooked, side dish is a must (potatoes in a sauce) and dessert is work of art. Young lady that was serving Us was 10/10 and she is definitely on of the highlights in the restaurant. If you have to choose a restaurant in Zagreb for a special day, this has to be it.

We made a reservation at Noel to celebrate one of our friends’ birthday during our visit in Zagreb. We were all looking forward to the experience since it is the first restaurant received the Michelin Star in Zagreb. However, we were utterly disappointed and unimpressed. We had their spring tasting menu and added on one of their classic dishes, the trouts for our dinner. Most of the dishes were uninspired, and the taste was either overall sour or salty. I couldn’t even finish one of the dishes since it was extremely salty. I told the host in person and over the phone when I made the reservation that we were here for a birthday celebration and would like to have surprise for our birthday girl during dessert time. They ended up just putting a candle on the chocolate, which left us speechless. On top of it, one of our friends tripped on the step while on the way to the restroom and literally fell on his knees in front of everyone in the restaurant. The host and the restaurant staffs didn’t really show any care after it happened and only gave us a bag of ice after we asked for it. As a Michelin star rated restaurant, you would think that both food and services would be apart from others, but somehow Noel failed to deliver it. We have had great meals during our short stay in Zagreb and was hoping that Noel would top it; However, sometimes things don’t turn out the same as you wished for and that’s the case for Noel.

Noel Zagreb is a culinary gem—refined, inventive, and unforgettable. The tasting menu was a masterclass in flavor and presentation, with each dish telling a story. Service was warm and precise, and the wine pairing elevated the entire experience. Michelin-starred for a reason—Noel is a must-visit for anyone seeking luxury dining in Croatia.

I’ll admit, I was skeptical walking in. Seasonal “creative” menus at one-star restaurants can feel like try-hard experiments that collapse into the same clichés. Noel switches its menu every three months, and since I arrived just after their transition to the Autumn Experience, I half-expected a lineup still in beta mode. Instead, zero misses. I came in on a Monday night, and the dining room was calm but not empty. Service was courteous yet warm, and the pacing was spot-on. Alongside the seasonal tasting menu, I added their signature trout dish and the non-alcoholic beverage pairing. The food was fantastic. Refined and technically flawless. The pairings, however, were mediocre at best. Each drink felt like a variation on lemonade, and few seemed to connect meaningfully with the dishes. Not offensive, just uninspired. Amuse Bouches - The best I’ve had in my recent memory. Potato chip, fried parsley, and orange gel combo was really good. Convinced me to add their signature trout dish. Leek Cappuccino - Shrimp, shrimp butter, peas, capped with a leek foam. The peas dominated, the shrimp butter gave just enough umami, and nothing overwhelmed. Noel Štrukli - Wish I got to experience the traditional Croatian cuisine before this. This was my first time trying Strukli, so whatever I say might not be accurate. Typically a heavy cheese-filled dumpling, here it became something closer to a raviolo. Caramelized butter sauce and milk powder brought layered sweetness and creaminess, almost addictive. The milk powder in particular made it so satisfying, though that might just be my milk bias. Trout with Elderflower & Wine Sauce- Might be the best trout dish I’ve ever had. Most trout courses rely on the fish’s quality and stop there. The sauce used here was intensely aromatic, sweet, and umami all at once and still kept the trout flour floating around on the palate. Mushroom Tartlette - Chef Mandarić seems to love crispy herbs. First parsley, now crispy kale (which are rarely used in fine dining because of bitterness). However, he seemed to know how to merge it. The portobello tart shell added another bitter register, and without drowning the scallops, the bitterness layering made the dish more interesting. Carrot Croquette - Soft carrot base, caramelized carrot cream, shiitake chips, Dalmatian herb sauce, and plum-wine gel. Texturally more like a spongy pastry than a croquette, but the mix of mild earthiness and bright gel acidity made it enjoyable. Langoustine Cappelletti - Perhaps the most predictable dish of the evening, but still good. Foam and bisque made from the shells carried langoustine depth, and since the cappelletti fillings weren’t too strong, it balanced out. Sea Bass with Pil Pil - My favorite dish here. Slow cooked in 50 degree oil and minimally seasoned. Mostly spring onion and bread crumb powder. The inside of the sea bass was seemingly undercooked, which gave that sashimi-like bounce instead of flaky fish. Almost like eating a sea bass fillet raw, but I loved it. Since they used almost zero salt on the fillet, that natural sea bass flavor was way more pronounced.

Unreal gastronomic experience. Dinner in 6 fantastic courses. The interior is simple, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They deservedly have a Michelin star. Prices are justified considering the status of this restaurant. I recommend it to everyone who wants a real gastronomic journey and pleasure.

From the lovely staff to the wonderful food, it's hard to highlight what we loved the most. We took the cocktail pairings and they were really great. In hindsight, we enjoyed the rooster and the amuse bouches the most.

Absolutely delicious cocktails here! Loved all that we tried. Service was really great, we were able to walk in after 10pm and get seats inside. The waiters were friendly and explained the cocktails well. Croatia- Tasty. The star is the prosciutto, cheese and olive garnish was the star.. basically you sip the drink to try it. The eat the garnish to taste with a different palate. Really delicious we were offered another garnish so we both can try but were charged for it! Barbados- the most delicious mango flavored cocktail i ever had!! The foam was out of this world! Australia- good cocktail, very refreshing and tart. The foam here yet again is the star. If you like berry and tartness this is for you.

Visited Roots Bar in Zagreb twice in two days, and it’s an absolute gem! The service is super friendly and genuine - not the fake touristy kind - making us want to return just for that. Yesterday, we tried two Negroni-inspired cocktails: the “Fig” (fig distillate, Campari, red vermouth, fig leaf soda) offered a nice twist, though not groundbreaking, and the “PBJ” (rye whiskey, red vermouth, peanut butter, and jelly) was a standout - beautifully presented with a jelly-topped spoon for that PB&J vibe. Today, the Lemon Cheesecake (limoncello, lemon, heavy cream, Licor 43) was an absolute explosion of delight - imagine a creamy, zesty lemon cheesecake transformed into the most divine drink you’ve ever tasted! It’s a must-try masterpiece! Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Zagreb! Oh and the music selection was spot on as well 😉

During my three days in Zagreb, I discovered ROOTS, and I couldn’t be happier! Their special diets menu is fantastic: super vegetarian-friendly and filled with vegan options. I indulged in a delicious smoothie bowl that blew me away and the avocado salmon sandwiches were delightful. Even if was very busy all, they were very kind and helped us with a table for two. The service was friendly and casual, making my lunch experience truly enjoyable. Highly recommend it!

We have had only the nachos and they weren't perfect, cocktails are good and there are plenty of interesting options. Waiter was very kind and the atmosphere outside was very nice during late hours.

I have been to Zegrab twice to see family, both times I have come to Roots. One of the best places to go for brunch, so fresh, tasty and amazing food (and smoothies/juices). I had the ham and cheese brioche with poached eggs, salad, nuts and seeds etc with the mangosta juice! It’s a must try for anyone passing by. Thanks again, and cannot wait to be back 🇭🇷

You know what!?!?!? I walked in thinking to order dessert from the photos seen at reviews. However, they had stopped serving dessert, left with smoothie. Why i gave 5star, the service staff brought 2 glass of water right after we are seated. He politely told us that they no longer sell dessert. Very good service rendered. It was quite crowded when we reach around 830Pm.

Overall a great place with a great menu, tasty food, decent service, and a great atmosphere. Very well shaded outdoor section and stylish interior. Food was good, but the Soba noodles with duck, while very tasty, was a bit too salty. They should significantly reduce the sodium content, perhaps by cutting the amount of soy sauce they use by 75% and allow the customer to add soy sauce as they like, since it is already on the table. It was very salty, but still good. The chicken salad was very good. The chicken spring rolls were much more like chicken croquettes with minced meat and breadcrumbs, not with the usual crispy / crunchy spring roll dough you might find at a more traditional Asian restaurant. They tasted ok, but they really aren’t “spring rolls”. I would suggest renaming this dish as “Asian chicken croquettes”. The crispy tuna roll was good, but rather small (4 pieces) and also not very crispy. The atmosphere and music was really great and our waiter was kind. A bit expensive compared with other nearby restaurants, but overall a nice experience. I would definitely go back, but I would order differently.

We enjoyed the dinner. Reservation needed. We ate sushi it was tasty. Parking is problem, better to come with taxi. For parents, important to know it is not child friendly at night. Inside is a night club at night after one point with club music. It is easy to continue your night inside at the bar after your dinner. It is located in the heart of the city so you can explore the city earlier and continue dining and clubbing there.

I've never sat here, so I don't know what drinks or food they have, or if the staff is capable, but it looks nice and expensive. Also, during summer it's super crowded. No parking, not accessible with public transportation, lots of people that think that they have money, lots of women with 5 layers of makeup, if that's your schtick, then feel free to visit 🙂

I had crispy tuna roll and it was delish. Walked through here several times over the week that I was in Zagreb so finally got to try. The music was always really good, chill ‘house’ type vibes with a DJ when I walked past… now that I’m here just pop music which makes me want to move on (hence the single dish). Really beautiful outdoor dining. Good beer, yummy food.

Khala is new restaurant with terrace. Cosy interior but little bit artificial there is something missing for total experience. Offer is great but we didn't manage to try everything. Maybe some other time. We had vegetarian rools. Grilled vegetables. Beef rools with truffles Spicy rice with chicken Food was delicious If you want something different definitely need to stop and eat something.

An intimate space, tucked slightly away from the main square, the bar is run by very friendly and efficient staff, who were happy to accommodate our requests. When our chosen item wasn't available, they suggested and created a very suitable alternative. The young lady who looked after us was really smiley and attentive, despite it being veeery late. She intuitively knew when to have a little chit-chat with us and when to leave us to chat amongst ourselves. 5*!👍 Downside: too smoky ... with a group of eight festive visitors sitting beside us, the space got pretty smoky pretty quickly. Stumbled across this place on our first night in Zagreb and it was excellent. Very reasonably priced and had good vegetarian options. The decor is cool, aquatic themed, and the server was really friendly. One of us had the special which he said was excellent. Great for budget dining.

This restaurant was great; my husband and i had one of the best meals of our 3 week tour of Croatia here. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The ambience of the restaurant was really great too: chic, eclectic, and cozy all at once. The server was friendly and attentive and spoke English well. I would definitely recommend!

Nice small restaurant. Everything there is made with passion. The interior was to be remembered, definitely. If I visit Zagreb again, I surely will pay a visit one more time.

Food was decent. Meatballs weren’t meatballs, but more of a patty. They also weren’t made with beef but pork. Service was great though! If you are around, it’s worth a visit, but don’t go out of your way to try it.

During our internship abroad, my friend and I came here almost every single day it truly became one of our favorite spots! We always played cards and felt super comfortable. One of the waiters was especially kind and patient, especially when my friend tried to order in Croatian, even when she struggled a bit, he was always polite. The coffee was amazing , and the teas ,especially the matcha were great too. Sadly, we’re not in Zagreb anymore, but we’ll definitely be back… and we’ll bring our cards with us. 😄🃏

Stopped here for a takeaway coffee and loved the vibe. They also had great iced tea options, handmade on the spot — almost like mocktails, super refreshing for summer. Inside, the décor is creative, showing all the different flavors coffee can take on depending on the blend and process. Cool little spot for a drink in Zagreb.

Cosy inside, drinks are perfect. No matter cocktails or coffee, they care a lot for quality. The only thing that i don't like is outside sitting area, but it's really subjective opinion. Anyway, i like it a lot because we visit it a few times.

Located just a minute long walk from the main square, Express bar offers definitely the best coffee in town with an excellent have-it-all experience. In addition to coffee, they offer home-made iced-tea and hot chocolate during winter times with carefully selected ingredients of the highest quality. Customer service is beyond all expectations as always superbly prepared coffee by highly skilled baristas.

Definitely recommend Express Bar for coffee lovers from Australia. The staff are committed to a smooth coffee with a kick and their enthusiasm for good coffee comes across with a smile. This visit to this wine bar was a very pleasant experience. The temperature was chilly and nice in the summer heat. It was lovely to try the local Croatian wine.

A fantastic bar to get drinks in a calm road side. The drinks price is very reasonable and it offers lower price during evening time. It offers complementary popcorn which made us very happy. It has plenty of drinks options.

Have to say that this place was a pleasant surprise. We popped in for one on the way to another craft brewery and ended up staying for four! Great selection on draft, the memorabilia on the walls was fun to look at and chat about. Prices are fair and the gorgeous popcorn was another wonderful surprise.

After ordering my drink, as I always do, I asked confirmation that the they were accepting payments by card. Answer was we don’t even have pos. What if I didn’t ask? They would have given the drink to me for free? Of course there was not sign outside saying there are not accepting cards. It is a pity as the bar seems very cool.

I liked this place a lot! It is special! Go for a coffee a beer or a drink...go and have nice conversations!

Very bad start, waiting for the waiter for a very long time, even though the terrace is empty, 15 minutes to ask you what you want to drink, after 15 minutes a waiter comes without Coca Cola, to ask me what I'm going to eat, after that another waiter comes to serve me, a strange situation, but the situation is saved by the food that doesn't wait long and is very, very good, good prices, I will definitely come again to try to improve the general impression and rating!

Solid food, good BBQ but nothing special. Soup was oversalted. A bit overpriced in my opinion, especially cold starters. It's not too expensive but it's not really a cheap place. I suppose the atmosphere is nicer with live music, if that's your thing. Service was good and professional.

Very good and not expensive

Potatoes were uncoocked, meat was so so. On our comment to the waiter, he just confirmed "oh than they are really uncoocked" like he knew it already. Price was not reduced. At least bottle beer was ok.

Extra short waiting time of daily menus and also with reasonable price, portions are big, stuff are cheerful, food is tasty whatever we tried so far, we are now eating there at least 2-3 times per week.

First time in Zagreb and landed in this club and was absolutely thrilled. The guy behind the counter was sensational. I will stay here for a few days and will definitely come back ❤️

Hundreds of happy guests are served each day at this club. People feel great, they feel happy having the best time of their lives and guess what: they return for more great fun! Isolated case of one unhappy guest and his two friends who think they can rewrite the reality of great service and awesome vibes this place has to offer are of little importance. 😀 I give five stars. Those five stars are stronger and shine brighter than Your combined three stars. That's the reality. Sorry (not sorry) to break Your spell guys.

The WORST place ever. I was there around 11pm last night as a single asian woman. When I was drinking a beer on the chair near by AC, a guy who was working nearby front door suddenly came to me and kept touching and rubbing my thighs, with a weird random excuses like he will bring some chairs to me, which I never needed. It was really horrible. He didn't even do it just one time. He came back and did once again. How could this even happen? DISGUSTING

Easily my favourite bar in Zagreb, perhaps even the entire Balkans. Very attentive bar staff who remembered my drink every night I came back, great atmosphere - particularly after midnight - and brilliant music. You can’t ask for more from a bar.

Very lively late night bar just off Ban Jelačić Square in Zagreb City Centre. Cheap drinks & fast service. Open until 4am. Highly recommended.

The place is great. The locals are lovely. The staff are really friendly and the music is spot on! Closing at 4am is a bonus too, although I noticed the influx of people after 2am when all the other bars close. I’d recommend it for sure!

Very nice and friendly staff. Drinks were the least expensive in Zagreb. Only downside is allowing people to smoke in the bar, seems to be common in Croatia however.

Our server with the cute pig tails was very sweet and accommodating to new visitors to Zagreb. She made our trip amazing. She made our experience at the mojo bar very pleasant.

Great place to have a glass of wine. As always they could work on their toilet so you can close inside. When I was last time there they had 2 time power problems and we were in dark. They could have more cheep wine on the menu. But overall a cool bar to come and have a good time.

Nice wine and rakija selection as well as other drinks. Love the vibe and service at Mojo. You can choose to sit inside or teracce. If you choose teracce go see the interior, you're gonna like it. Have fun after work :)

The good: great karaoke joint! Clear sound, laser, fog and a bubble machines. very talented KJ. Older guy, sings like an angel. 😇 Security guys are cultured and polite. That is hard to find. The bad: some drinks are overpriced, rude owner who likes to fight with people online, cigarette smoke made my clothes smell very unpleasant.

Lots of fun. Cheap and tasty beverages. Excellent vibe. We've been two nights in a row. Wednesday it was packed and awesome. Last night it was quieter. Great local singers carry the night and make you feel able to go and make a fool of yourself. Then you end up feeling like a rockstar. Zero judgement zone. Staff are warm and genuine. We got invited to another place but we'll probs still drop in here regardless. Feels like home already. You wouldn't have guessed from the outside. It looks like a random side door. Ignore your senses, follow the flashing light, go to wonderland and see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

You will not believe how cheap and fun this place is! A round for 4 of us was less then 10 euro! Get there early but expect it to be too quiet and all of a sudden it gets mega busy. Best night in Zagreb!

Opens at 9. Karaoke starts at 10:30. The DJ played some very tasteful music pre-karaoke. The crowd is packed after 11 on a Saturday. Great singers with feeling and the young crowd gives a lot of energy. Great party. Too bad I had to fly back to Toronto the next day. I will want to fly through Zagreb again just to go back.

The food tastes absolutely amazing and the staff is friendly. The portions are a bit smaller, but it's worth a visit. Mussels are a definite must have. With appetiser, main course and a desert you get to around 35-40€ per person

If your a ‘foodie’ try this spot as it’s local ingredients on global type menu. This spot is very flavour forward vrs size of portion and they hit the mark. One of our most favourite meals in Croatia. The mussels are exquisite as they are served in a thick fish/mussel based ‘soup’. We found the pricing very reasonable for the quality and the host/waiter knew every detail for every dish.

This is something different! ...in a very positive way! Very nice atmosphere in a quite small space, with fantastic food presented in great style. Guys who are taking care here are really good, especially the one who served us - very talkative, bringing many helpful insides about the dishes served and available wines. By the way, they have imported wines which quite unusual for Zagreb. Prices are reasonable for the quality offered.

We enjoyed this local bistro in Zagreb so much, we ate here twice in one week. Offering Croatian cuisine with a modern twist, all made from fresh, high-quality ingredients, we very much enjoyed it! Worst food we’ve had in Croatia. We’ve been here since 4/9 (Plitvice, Rastoke, Split & Dubrovnik). Short pours of wine (or maybe it was just for me) and pedestrian dishes. Obviously not freshly prepared. Skip.

Came back after a while to try the new menu, but unfortunately the experience didn’t quite meet our expectations. The mussels were overcooked, the lamb was served cold (not sure why) and the gorgonzola gyoza was quite strong and salty. We also ordered the octopus, but it never arrived, possibly just an oversight, although we were the only guests at the time. Hopefully just an off day, but we’re not sure we’ll be returning. While the concept is fun dining, the prices felt a bit too serious :(

A classical hotel atmosphere with spacious dining room and elegantly picked interior decoration accessories. The menu has limited items, the wine card has a wide range of picks. The AC was not working, hard to bear the heat in July.

I was so please to go with a friend to celebrate some good news, so we agreed to meet in The Esplanade bar. The place is lovely, the service was impeccable the man in charge was extremely polite, kind, smiley and charming My cocktail was good. Shame for some health issues, I could not try some more. I’m coming back for some relaxing time as soon I will get better. Highly recommend this place. I felt like home.

Hello, I would like to leave a review.I don't know what happened at the bar, but it's definitely not the kind of place you want to go back to.Let's take it in order , the first is the service , waiting 25 minutes for an order at a 5-star hotel, which is something new considering that there are few people, the second is I ordered an aperol absolutely tasteless , ok I ordered champagne , and again i got flat Champagne this is ready incredible! 👎

The place i really well made and well decorated, the staff i great, the vibe i awsome. Drinks are great and food is even better. Loved it. But sence it is a hotel made for wealthy people if you don't have money for a single coffe there that costs 24kn don't go there.

I felt like I was in "Gone with the wind", beautiful spacious terrace with oleanders, in shade of hotel. You can feel summer breeze and relax with a book watching old architectural buildings. I had cocktail mix which was fresh and tasty, but the service is slow. Need to upgrade it.

As for the lounge and cocktail bar - this was the slowest service on planet earth. 10 minutes to get the menu 30 minutes for a simple dish Table next to me was kept uncleaned with food leftovers for more than an hour. Lovely terrace though.

Just ignored by all waiters and managers, waited 20 minutes, not even acknowledged, so left to go to local bars instead - very poor experience

One of the most popular nightclubs in zagreb, but a bit hard to get to it with public transportation and the music is only turbofolk

If you want to see the worst club, and to have a nightmare of music (Serbian folk music) and crazy young rich people...this is the place. Never again!!!!

If you want to experience Croatian specials like homemade prosciutto, sausages, hams, cheese’s from different regions and big selection of Wines this is the place. They have over 80 different wines from all Croatian regions. Service is great and ambiance is magnificent. Location is in the center of Zagreb, near funicular that drives to the old city. Definitely place worth visiting.

Nice looking wine bar with domestic wines. We wanted to split a white wine and red wine tasting menu, and had each 8 x 1/2 glass of wine -> a total of 8 glasses of wine. When the bill came we where charged for 4!!! Tasting menus. The menu did not mention that the tasting menu had only 1/2 glasses, also doesn't make sense as the average glass of wine on the menu is approx 1/4 the price of the tasting menu. We are not talking about huge amounts of money here, but left not exactly a warm fuzzy feeling.

Great service. Great location. Staff is very professional, knows about wine. Enjoyed very much, especially stories they've told us about wine origin. Prices are not so cheap but it's worth.

Well, you know, there are warm and nice places around, usually more expensive, but in Basement you can have domestic plates with the best Croatian wines and feel fine knowing that you won't pay to much for the excellent atmosphere you are going to experience.

Placed right in the city centre, next to the funicular, so you cannot miss it. It is quite dark, but service is nice. The cocyails are also nice and very well decorated. It is a good afterwork place, to hang out with friends.

The waiter came to us the minute we sat down. He was nice. The Cafe was empty. When I asked for the cake, he told me it was old and bad so he saved me. Don't order cakes. Tip the nice waiter

While I heard the cafe had some positive reviews, I had the worst experience here. After sitting in the cafe in for some time we asked at the bar for drinks to be served. There we were rejected and asked to wait for a waiter. Waiter made with us eye contact, saw us multiple times asking but still failed to come and take our order. After 30 minutes of waiting as we were about to leave, a waiter suddenly remembered us and came to ask for our order. An excuse was that he is the only one working (while his 2 other colleagues are sitting behind a bar and playing on their phones, and the cafe wasnt that full). If you are looking for a place to enjoy some coffee avoid this place by all means because you will be left forgotten and just waste your time.

Great place to have an evening wine glass or two. The bruschetta platter was more than satisfying and the waiter Marin had good advice on food and wine. Going back for sure.

There is a lots of space to improve your menu. Lighting is to poor so you actually can't see what ate you dinnig.
