The National Aviary, located in Pittsburgh's historic North Side, is a renowned bird sanctuary boasting over 500 birds from 150 different species worldwide. Many of these avian residents are considered threatened or endangered in their natural habitats. The aviary offers interactive exhibits where visitors can walk through and intimately interact with the free-flying birds. Additionally, guests have the unique opportunity to hand-feed and meet rare species during their visit.
This is a beautiful place that we just visited for the first time. The place is so clean, the staff is so friendly and the rooms and the birds are just amazing. There is a lot to see and do here and the staff is on hand to answer questions. They have a lovely little gift shop, a few larger birds to see outside and then several rooms inside. They have a place to sit and eat, clean rest rooms with an adult changing table. They have free entry for a paid caregiver and they accept the Access card for up to 4 people at $5 each. They have their own parking lot and it is a flat fee of $7. We will definitely visit again!

I cant say enough about this place. Every room is spectacular. There are such a wide variety of birds and some are very friendly. Each of the large rooms has a show twice a day. We saw each one and they were immersive and enjoyable, you got learn individual birds names and personalities, and the staff was very knowledgeable. We spent the entire day, went through each area twice, had lunch, and saw the separate show called Passport to the Parks (worth the extra $5). Free parking. Attached gift shop and eatery.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about The National Aviary. As a lifelong lover of the Aviary, my husband and I chose it as our wedding reception venue in February of 2025. From start to finish, the events team helped to make the entire planning process a breeze. We worked with multiple members of their team throughout the planning process, and they were all extremely helpful. Victoria's warmth, professionalism, and knowledge provided comfort and assurance throughout our planning process. We had Adrieanna the night of, and she worked with all of our vendors to make sure the night flowed perfectly! Having Atria’s as the Aviary’s exclusive caterer was incredible, as well. Natalie was extremely helpful and worked with us to create a perfectly customized food and drink menu. She took all of the guesswork out when it came to linens and tableware. All of the servers and bartenders were attentive, personable, and kept our guests happy all night. ALL of the Aviary and Atria’s staff helped to make the entire night smooth and unforgettable. Our guests were able to explore the habitats, meet a penguin (shout out to our boy, Wyatt!), and enjoy an amazing meal and bar in a beautiful facility. If you are looking for the best of both worlds when it comes to having a unique experience AND a stunning event space - the National Aviary is IT.

I was visiting Pittsburgh for a few days and walked here from the downtown area as it was a perfect fall day . I arrived on a weekday when it opened and spent a leisurely time walking around observing ,listening and soaking in the educational information. I suppose I was lucky that day because All the birds were out and about & wanted to to be seen and heard . Magnificent birds! Staff was professional and friendly when needed . Good place to spend a couple of hours learning and hanging out with the birds ( & a few others-like the sloth who was napping up in a tree . ) it was definitely worth my time and a great experience!
J — Google review
On our last day in Pittsburgh before catching our flight home, we had a little extra time to kill before heading to the airport. We decided to come to the national aviary and check it out. After parking on a nearby street, we made our way inside and easily purchased tickets at the front desk. They had a variety of other experiences that we could have upgraded to such as feeding certain birds or getting to interact with some birds in an intimate setting, but we just wanted to check out the space. We walked through all of the exhibits and enjoyed getting to learn so much about the different climates and habitats of the various birds. If you are looking for something to do in the downtown Pittsburgh area and are a bird lover, or just simply looking to learn a little bit more about our feathered friends, I would recommend coming to the national aviary.

Love this place. I hadn’t been in a while but it’s definitely a place to take your kids. They have added scheduled times to feed different birds eg; the penguins. I took lots of pictures and will definitely take my grandkids next time.
Gina A — Google review
Awesome place to learn about birds of all kinds and sizes. Totally worth it to visit for families with young kids who want to see and learn about different birds. Their cafeteria is good and their gift shop is nice. It’s street parking for the most part but easy to find. Very close to other downtown attractions

On a day I needed to be alone and think this place filled me with joy and peace. A wonderful experience. I found solitude among the many admirers of this magical place. I spent hours playing “I spy…” identifying many creatures I had never seen before. This place may seem small but take your time to explore. I also found the cutest bag ever in the gift shop. The food was good too.

Kennywood is a historic amusement park located just a short drive from downtown Pittsburgh. It offers a mix of classic and modern rides, including famous wooden roller coasters and attractions for visitors of all ages. The park spans 150 acres along the Monongahela River and features over 45 rides, such as the thrilling Sky Rocket coaster and water rides like Pittsburg Plunge.
Old time charm sprinkled with some modern flair! There’s nothing like the feel of Kennywood. A park that’s been evolving since 1898 and counting. There’s truly something for any age or enthusiast. You have seemingly rides from today and every decade since, still in operation. There’s so many musts from the rides to the eats. My family has been going for generations!
Jay R — Google review
Obviously a Pittsburgh classic, gotta visit at least once a year. The whole aesthetic of the park is excitement, and the potted flowers everywhere are beautiful. Always gotta stop to look at the gorgeous fountains. Everything seemed pretty good this year, safety wise. Saw security and medical quickly come for somebody who was overheated, while the ride operators let them sit and drink water. Very efficient and under control. My only complaints are 1) that souvenir cups are not sold at every restaurant in the park, and if you buy a soda in a regular cup, it does not come with a lid. That makes me pretty nervous in a large crowd of strangers. 2) The bathrooms are not as clean as they used to be. Had to pass up 3-4 stalks every time I went to pee because of mess, clogs, and stall doors that had no locks. Minor complaints, but worth noting with how the ticket price has raised lol. Please give us clean bathrooms.

I live about 2 and 1/2 hours away and I love going to Kennywood because there's a great sense of nostalgia even your first time going. I love the classic rides and the preservation that they have taken to keep these rides alive. Compared to other theme parks Kennywood seems very reasonably priced. The wait times are lower than some of the other ones and overall just a fun day. We'll definitely be going back.
A.J. W — Google review
Kennywood offers a really cool experience going through the park and seeing all of the different rides and vendors that they have. The rollercoasters are fun and we rode almost all of them when we went. The food at the cafe we went to was pretty good too. It is a great addition to Pittsburgh

Kennywood in Pittsburgh is a classic amusement park with a great mix of thrilling rides and nostalgic charm. It’s perfect for families, with exciting roller coasters like Phantom’s Revenge and fun attractions for kids too. The park is clean, and the food—especially the Potato Patch fries—is a must-try. Overall, a great place to spend the day full of fun and memories!
Gokarna D — Google review
Park is well kept and most staff are friendly. Clearly over worked though. My main complaint is the ridiculous wait time for rides. Ended up having to purchased their speedy pass just to be able to get onto rides. Without it you’re not getting on rides because they're clearly prioritizing people who buy the passes. Which will be the down fall of the park no doubt.
Heather H — Google review
An absolutely iconic theme park. Rich, rich history all around. From the three 1920s wooden coasters to the modern steel coasters- there’s something for everyone here to have fun. Don’t miss the Exterminator indoor coaster, the racer, the kangaroo ride, the whip, and the potato patch!!
Robert K — Google review
On August 9th 2025 our Youth Ministry, Kingdom Kidz spent the day at Kennywood to end the summer. It was definitely a great time had by all ages young and old. Our 3 year old grandson was super excited to ride all the rides in kiddie land because last year he didn't to well. I was so proud of him for brave and facing his fears. Our son didn't like that there was no relation on how many people with fast passes were allowed to skip lunes on rides to make fair for those without one who are waiting in long lines.

The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, located in the Allegheny Center neighborhood on the North side of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a fantastic destination for families. This interactive museum offers a wide range of hands-on learning experiences and play areas for children. Visitors can explore educational exhibits, enjoy puppet shows, and even immerse themselves in a Mr. Rogers display at the MuseumLab featuring artifacts related to the beloved show.
Awesome place for small kids or big kids. So many awesome exhibits and interactive activities. Our favorite is the third floor. It is a water play area. They have aprons for kids if they do not want to get wet. But most kids came with swim suits. They have an ice table that is super fun. But in the winter the room gets kinda chilly so you can’t spend too much time in there. The cafe on the main floor was very good and lots of food options for kids.
Kate C — Google review
I saw that on March 20th they were doing a special to commemorate Mr Rogers birthday and admission was free that day. I think that's a really cool way to keep his legacy alive. I don't have kids, but I love art so and really enjoyed my time here. I only stayed about an hour and half mainly because I was tired. All the kids looked like they were having so much fun. There were so many activities for them. I personally enjoyed the Charlie Harper exhibit I am wild. I love his nature artwork.i also enjoyed seeing the Mr Rogers Memrobellia since i grew up with him.i think the giant catapillar hanging over one of the stairs was my favorite. The cafe area was nice and spacious I liked the decor with the large globe shaped white orbs. I had a really good chocolate muffin. The kids menu was really cute. I ended my trip getting some Mr. Rogers gifts from the gift shop. The Daniel tiger magnet is so cute. Honestly, I really wanted to make a scarf in the scarf workshop. Maybe another day.
Jessica — Google review
I visited the museum with my 4 kids (2 months, 3, 6, and 8) today and we had a great time. They enjoyed every floor, but the water and the “garage” rooms were definitely the favorites. I loved the extra steps taken to make this place exceptional for kids and parents. As a nursing mom of an infant, the quiet corners are amazing. I was able to sit and nurse my son while my older kids played. There are SO many bathrooms which is super convenient for toddlers. The cafe has awesome, fun, kid friendly foods and has a sink just for handwashing. You don’t have to touch the soap or sink at all. It’s so clean and well thought out. Each room is thoughtfully designed and allows kids to play, but in a “STEAM”-centered way. The gift shop is also amazing. It’s small, but packed with thoughtful items. The employees were all super friendly. I really can’t say enough great things about it.
Alexis K — Google review
Visited with friends while in town & walked out very pleased with our experience. This museum is filled with multiple floors of STEAM activities, water play & more. It kept the 2 young kiddos in our group fully engaged for hours & I found the price very reasonable for the quality + quantity of exhibits that are available. Overall, a great spot to spend time with kids & give them a bunch of fun, hands on learning opportunities ✌🏻
Chris V — Google review
Our family and friends had a blast. Even on a busy day there is so much for the kids to play and do. We found it to be very clean and everything was well kept. The kids had a blast and that was all we could ask for.
Taylor S — Google review
We took our toddler and it was amazing! She didn’t understand how all of the activities worked but she still really enjoyed doing them. I wish I would have known that they had a water level where the kids can get EXTREMELY wet. I suggest bringing a change of clothes or a bathing suit. We would definitely visit again.
Brittany M — Google review
This is a wonderful museum, but they ended their discounts for ACCESS card holders which increased the ticket price for 4 from $8 to $78 and this isn't posted anywhere on the website or in the parking lot, so you pay for parking and THEN find out your ticket price is so high.

The institution offers educational programs and conservation projects aimed at fostering connections between animals and people.
A Perfect Family Day at Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium is a wonderful destination for a full day of family fun. From the moment you arrive, the experience is stress-free—especially with ample free parking right near the entrance. The zoo is beautifully laid out, making it easy to explore with kids. There’s an incredible variety of animals to see—from majestic elephants and playful sea otters to exotic tigers and colorful tropical fish in the aquarium. The exhibits are thoughtfully designed, giving you an up-close view while also teaching about conservation and wildlife care. Families will especially love Kid’s Kingdom, where little ones can climb, explore, and interact with animals in a safe, engaging environment. Overall, the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium offers a perfect mix of adventure, learning, and relaxation. With free parking, friendly staff, and activities for all ages, it’s an easy choice for a memorable family outing.

If you end up spending over 5 hours on your first visit here, you know it was a good time. What i loved most was how well the enclosures were made in natural environments. It was like walking through nature while stopping to view a variety of animals. Kyle really enjoyed everything as well. The layout is really well thought out. A couple minor drawbacks were highly congested areas that just didn't have much viewing area for the crowd mass. It was busy and very congested in a few areas. We also waited 30 minutes for a pizza order. Otherwise overall great visit, well worth the price of admission.
Matthew T — Google review
Staff is nice. So much is closed or under construction. This is pretty small for what they charge. The now have reciprocity with other zoos. A few years ago the lost their accreditation. Tigers, lions, elephants are there right at the beginning. The aquarium is nice but not amazing.
Daryl N — Google review
It was my first time there. I have been hearing a lot about this place from my daughter who has been living out here for many years. She always wanted to get me there and she and her fiance got me there. I absolutely loved it. We spent the entire day there just immersed in the fish and animals. Even though there was construction going on, it was still a very special day. I learned some interesting things about some of the animals which was a true benefit. The place is exciting, busy and well worth going.
Linda P — Google review
Great size zoo with lots of animals to see, as well as kid-friendly things like play areas. It is quite hilly (it is Pittsburgh after all!) but scenic and a good way to spend a family day. The food is ok, actually has more options than many zoos I've been to. We ate at the Jambo Grill. There was a bit of a wait for food, but it was tasty enough and we LOVED sitting outside and watching the giraffe and zebras as we ate.
Gabrielle L — Google review
Very easily walkable zoo, absolutely beautiful and not too huge. We've seen it all in 2 hours. The highlights for us were sea otters, the cloud leopard and everything at the aquarium. No long lines at the entrance, you can buy tickets online as well.
JitkaKac — Google review
I felt so disappointed with my recent and first time visiting the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium last Saturday. There was an event going on, "Zoo Boo" or something like that, so obviously there were lots of people and kids. There was some parts under construction, too. I wish there were more staff wandering around as it looked chaotic with the people walking everywhere. There were less animals that were out and it makes me really sad. I hope they are all okay though. Location wise, it was super crowded in the parking area that some people even parked in the grassy field. There weren't a lot of signs and directions so it can be a little disorienting navigating the whole zoo. Now I don't know if it were just the time of the year, but there weren't a lot of animals around and outside when we visited. Shocking to realize there were no bears in sight at all. Nice to see some tigers, lions, cheetahs and others, though. The souvenir shops were nice and well stocked. Just a bit pricey. They sell animal stuffed toys that are not even in this zoo. 🥲 Anyway, I'd still come back here im the future, and enjoy the area. Hopefully I will be able to change this review and give it 5 stars.
Thea — Google review
It's a really nice zoo. I would have given it more stars but quite a few exhibits were closed. Still had to pay full price and they closed at 4pm, which made it feel like you had to rush through the zoo.

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh is housed in a grand building and features an impressive collection of dinosaur fossils, sea creature fossils, and minerals. The museum is one of the four Carnegie Museums in the city and offers extraordinary exhibits. Visitors can also explore the adjacent Carnegie Museum of Art, The Andy Warhol Museum, and the Carnegie Science Center for a diverse cultural experience.
It was awesome my first visit to Natural museum of history. Lots of things to explore about extinct animals and lots of information about older generation. A fun place for kids too but there are no much activities for kids. If kids don't mind exploring history than it would be fun for them. Nearby you have cathedral of leaning which is awesome too for prospective of building and architecture. Parking is decently priced being in downtown area. I recommend it for family with kids to be there.
Balraj V — Google review
If you like reading and stopping at every display, you should plan to spend more than one full day here. As two nerds from out of state, my husband and I loved every moment here. The dinosaurs were like nothing we've seen before and the geology exhibit was super cool. I loved that there were placards near exhibits that are now considered out of date in some way (native American culture and the fossil fuel areas, for example). This is easily one of the best museums I've ever visited. This museum was so captivating that we came back for a second day, only to find out it was closed all day due to a private event. I wish there had been signage or staff letting us know :( Hence the four star review.
Meagan S — Google review
Excellent experience wear some comfortable shoes dress light. Lots of walking and they do have an elevator for ones in wheelchairs or strollers. Once you park in the garage the museum is on level 6 the elevator is a long wait but worth it. You can not leave the parking garage with cash they only take credit cards. Minimum is $10.00. Went today Saturday collage kids everywhere. Enjoy
RUDY — Google review
This is a great experience for those who not only love natural history, but also love the architecture of the gilded age! The natural history exhibits are informative, but not exhausting, giving enough information about scientific discoveries and processes without boring the public. The dinosaurs are some of their most impressive displays, showcasing a variety of species including the famous tyrannosaurus rex, to which this one is the holotype specimen, meaning that it is the first to be recognized as a tyrannosaurus and the gold standard that others use to compare other specimens. The mammal exhibits detail natural life from all around the world, and many of course highlight the local wildlife (western Pennsylvania and specifically the laurel highlands). The bug exhibit was also an impressive collection. The only complaint that I had was that the art museum and the natural history museum were difficult to navigate, though their collections were also impressive despite the Ancient Egyptian exhibits being closed. The gems and minerals were also one of the most elaborate displays of them that I have seen with the exception being the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Overall, this is a great museum for those who want to learn about natural history in the local region as well as around the world.

Fantastic, magical day the Natural History Museum. Some of the absolute best dinosaur displays Ive seen. Breathtaking exhibit. Also an incredible Bird Hall. The Hall of American and African Animals is also fantastic. We were very excited to see the Egyptian Exhibit, but it was sadly closed. The section with gems and minerals to enormous and had we had more than a day to do the museum we would have spent more time exploring that as well. There is a cafe in the basement that had a nice selection of hot and cold items. The store was really comprehensive. Parking was very expensive which seemed excessive given its on top of the cost of getting into the museum. But overall it was worth it. If you take the elevator mind the note inside the elevator that tells you what floor to use for the Museum. Of note, one ticket gets you into BOTH the Museum of Natural History and the Art Museum and both are under the same roof. You can explore each one and the stores are very close to each other.

If you have a chance to go to the Haunted Museum event they hold around Halloween, I highly recommend going!!! It was so fun. They had trivia and photo ops and you could add on food and drinks. It was so fun, and costumes are allowed as long as you follow guidelines. Event is 21+

Amazing museum where you can spend the whole afternoon! We absolutely loved the Polar life/Indian tribe section, wildlife dioramas, the Dino display, the hall of minerals (don't miss this one!!!) and the sculpture hall. Everyone from the staff is very friendly and helpful.
JitkaKac — Google review
We visited today because my husband wanted to show me where he spent time as a kid. He spent many hours roaming the halls and visiting the displays whilst a family member took classes. There have been many changes since then, and although it's an impressive place he felt that much of the room that used to be natural history has been overtaken by the museum of art and feels we've lost out because of it. I did enjoy the dinosaur exhibit and the minerals and gems. I had looked forward to seeing some of Egypt, but that was closed.

Planetarium
The Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh is a renowned museum and research center that offers a wide range of science-related exhibits, a planetarium, live shows, and programs for kids. Situated along the banks of the Ohio River, this award-winning center aims to inspire and entertain visitors by showcasing the connection between science, technology, and everyday life.
The Carnegie Science Center was absolutely fantastic. Compared to other museums and exhibits, this center had a wonderful selection spanning over different fields in science. Pricing was great for how much they have on display. Spent roughly 4 hours here and could've spent even longer. If you also have a kid who loves trains, you can see them constantly going out the window.
Kindle O — Google review
The best science center ever, even for adults! Perfect Mars exhibit, water and wind experiments. They have a section dedicated to education about the human body and the interactive displays are so much fun! The highlight is definitely the huge train model, we spent a lot of time in there! There is also a submarine outside but you need to book the self guided tour in advance. They have a theater as well (not included in general admission). Plenty of parking.
JitkaKac — Google review
Fun but outdated. They have some new things that are cool and you can tell that they are trying to update things which is good. Fun for kids. The submarine is super cool and informational. They have paid parking which is nice. Teachers get in free!
Kate C — Google review
This place is amazing. Spent the entire day here. So many fun things for the kids to do. Submarine was really cool to walk through. We were allowed to bring in our own food/drinks. They do have a cafe on the bottom floor, did not eat there but prices seemed reasonable.
Walker H — Google review
Excellent science museum. It's obviously great for kids, but I had a great time as an adult. There's plenty of interactive exhibits which are the most important to me, and of course all the informative stuff. There is also a submarine you can tour (included with your ticket) which I didn't even know was a thing when I showed up. Definitely worth checking out!
Ethan S — Google review
The Science Center is geared toward younger kids. My almost 9 year old enjoyed the SportsWorks section, but was no longer interested in the rest of it. We weren’t able to see a planetarium show this time, but I recall that being pretty cool for kids and adults. Paid parking in front. You can pre-purchase your tickets online and they have a cafe and gift shop.
Shannon B — Google review
We visited on a Tuesday and had a lot of fun! The museum's exhibits are aimed at a younger audience than the Natural History Museum but are still enjoyable by adults. The Mars exhibit was absolutely fascinating - it's great that the mock society takes visitor opinions into account as it continues to be built. The high point of our visit was the planetarium! The narrator for Space Volcanoes was top notch and deserves a raise - he really put a lot of effort into making it fun and high energy. In retrospect, we wish we would've watched more shows at the planetarium and will likely come back later this year to check them out!
Meagan S — Google review
I had an amazing time walking around, looking at the Science and Technology displays. There are a lot of interactive activities for the younger children to do. These activities also keep the adults interested. If you're looking to go to the submarine or one of the various shows, make sure you go online for ticket availability. I was able to get tickets to the Center, but not the special shows and tours.

Museums
The Senator John Heinz History Center, located in the revitalized Strip District of Pittsburgh, is a six-floor museum that offers a comprehensive look at the history of western Pennsylvania. As an affiliate of the Smithsonian, it features diverse exhibits and archives that cover various aspects such as the region's prominence in glass production, its innovative contributions to industries like steel and healthcare, and a dedicated section for the western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.
What a wild musuem. Six floors. Tons of exhibits. Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania take top billing, but there is so much more. The Western Pennsylvania two-floor sports exhibit is wonderful. The Mr. Rogers collection brought back loads of childhood memories.
Peter D — Google review
I thought it was a museum about ketchup. It was huge. So much history about the area. But there was a section about Ketchup. I hate ketchup. It’s for weirdos. Spent two hours here and I didn’t spent much time seeing everything. Def need two visits to see and experience entire place if you like history and read everything. It was huge and still had places being renovated. Really nice place.
Justin D — Google review
Stumbled upon this gem during our stay in Pittsburgh from our of town and the kids simply loved it. From the sports floor to the Heinz ketchup floor, there was something for everyone. The gift shop had so many cute little finds and the cafe was convenient. The parking lot next door was perfect and it was not too crowded so you were able to take lots of cool photos. I recommend this museum to anyone.
Deb C — Google review
A Great Day at the Senator John Heinz History Center From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew this was going to be a special visit. The building itself, a beautifully restored warehouse in Pittsburgh’s Strip District, felt like the perfect backdrop for the incredible stories inside. Six floors of exhibits stretched out before me—each one drawing me deeper into Western Pennsylvania’s rich history. The Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood exhibit was a personal highlight. Standing in front of the original set pieces—King Friday’s castle, X the Owl’s tree—I felt a rush of nostalgia and a genuine smile I couldn’t hide. Just steps away, I wandered into the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, where I found Franco Harris’ cleats from the “Immaculate Reception” and Mario Lemieux’s skates. Even as a casual sports fan, the pride and excitement in that space were infectious. I loved how interactive everything was—touchscreens, hands-on displays, and even a chance to peek behind the scenes in the Visible Storage area, which was like discovering a secret treasure trove of artifacts. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic, eager to share extra stories that brought the exhibits to life. By the time I left, hours had flown by, and I still hadn’t seen everything. Luckily, my ticket was good for two days—because one visit simply isn’t enough. The Senator John Heinz History Center isn’t just a museum—it’s an experience that makes you feel connected to the past while celebrating the spirit of Pittsburgh today.
Deepnath D — Google review
So much to see! We had to come back the next day to explore all the floors. Admission is valid for 2 days which is great. Everything from transportation, architecture, inventions, music, industry, mining, 2 floors of all kinds of sports and even a peculiar exhibit of quite random items. So much fun! They have elevators, clean restrooms, a café and a gift shop. Paid parking nearby, we parked at the Alco Vision Garage.
JitkaKac — Google review
First time here in my many Pitt visits. The special exhibit was a lot of curious and interesting items pulled from the archives. One floor was dedicated to Pittsburgh sports. It was great seeing all the memorabilia, especially the Penguins items with Fleury's retirement game being held that weekend. They had a very nice section on glass produced in PA, the timeline of Heinz itself, and Mr Roger's Neighborhood and other interesting antiques. I spent a few hours wandering the 5 floors.
Karrie ( — Google review
This is one of the biggest history museums I have been into with the exception of the Smithsonian history museums. There are five floors of exhibits about western Pennsylvania history. There are displays of the first jeep ever created, a Heinz cart, and many other interesting artifacts when one walks through the doors. The first floor explores anomalies in their collections that will amuse people. The second floor has their sports museum, detailing the history of sports in western Pennsylvania, including national and local football, baseball, hockey, racing, boxing, and various other sports that remain important to the identity of this region of the state. The third floor encompasses more of the sports museum and a discovery center for kids. The fourth floor explores the slave exhibit on how western Pennsylvania dealt with the horrors of slavery and former slaves and people of color who challenged the racial hierarchy of the nineteenth century onwards. There is a special collections gallery detailing the history of the various immigrants in the country as well as original set pieces of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. The fifth floor was the special exhibit detailing the history of the French and Indian War, and how important western Pennsylvania was in shaping future events that led to a world war. The staff was very friendly, and if people desire, there is a small cafe where one can grab a quick bit to eat as well as a gift shop filled with many books, shirts (ketchup ones especially), and knickknacks that one can collect. Overall, this is a must stop destination for those who love history, considering it was voted as the best history museum in the United States last year!
Cole M — Google review
If you want to see the Mr. Rodgers, Heinz company, and sports exhibits, this is fine. Lots of places to sit. VERY limited cafe; was out of all good food by 2PM. Pittsburgh could use a museum that provides a BALANCED view of the town's history. ... What about PPG, Westinghouse, US Steel?

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, located in Schenley Park, is a horticultural paradise featuring a Victorian greenhouse and various botanical gardens. The complex has been recognized for its sustainable efforts, with three of the greenest buildings in the world on its campus. These include the Center for Sustainable Landscapes (CSL), Nature Lab at Phipps, and Exhibit Staging Center (ESC).
Absolutely breathtaking! I visited on a Sunday with my husband and we spent most of the day here. Every room is beautifully curated and visually stunning with great placards to learn more about natural habitats. I'm not very knowledgeable about plants but it looked like everything was cared for lovingly. The gift shop had really cool souvenirs and great prices for t-shirts. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Pittsburgh and we will absolutely visit again.

We were there on a beautiful September day, when they had their Jungle Quest summer flower show! What a joyful day and a great time for families with kids. My daughter loved the tropical plants and blooms and was excited to search for the toucan perched on top of the foliages. She loved playing in the areas designated for children and loves learning about the different species of plants and animals that live in these environments. We spent at least 3 hours there touring and visiting the gift shop. The best part is having lunch at the nearby park.

On a beautiful sunny afternoon, my dad, my husband, and I decided to explore Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. First and foremost, the parking situation is absolutely atrocious! We drove around for probably about 15 minutes, just looking for a spot before we finally managed to find one about half a mile away. I think with it being located so close to two university campuses, parking is never good here. The terrible parking situation aside, this place is absolutely beautiful! The variety of plants and various vegetation in beautiful arrangements was definitely something to behold. We had such a wonderful time, exploring the exhibits and even had fun looking for the hidden toucans in the various rooms. Such a pleasant afternoon and definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Pittsburgh.

Phipps Conservatory is an absolute masterpiece. As an educated plant collector and a partner with a degree in horticulture, we came in with high expectations—and Phipps exceeded every one of them, earning a 10/5 rating from us. The level of thought and care that has gone into every single space is breathtaking. Each room is a uniquely curated world, from the stunning orchid displays to the thoughtful tropical collections. The plants are not only healthy and vibrant but are presented with an artistry that makes it clear this is a place run by people who are truly passionate about their craft. We spent hours wandering through the exhibits, constantly discovering new, fascinating details and unique specimens that held our attention. The Phipps experience is a testament to what a botanical garden can be when it's treated as a living work of art. It’s not just a collection of plants; it’s an immersive, educational, and inspiring journey. We can't recommend it highly enough to anyone who appreciates the beauty and science of the plant world."

Adding my 5 star review into the mix because this place was amazing. Beautiful botanical displays of all shapes and sizes all under these magnificent victorian glass greenhouses. You will feel like you were magically whisked off to London or Paris for the afternoon. Worth the visit to escape the madness and chaos of the world around you. Today I needed a nice, calm, relaxing, warm, inviting stroll through a garden and I was glad I stopped by. Thank you to everyone, especially Barbara keeping us going left and on the tour. 😎😎

Really cool experience for those interested in botanical gardens. Well worth the price of admission. Parking can be a tad tough to find on the street so be sure to plan ahead. Plenty of exhibits inside with rooms dedicated to rainforests, chrysanthemums, and ferns. My favorite was the cactus room!

I’ve been to several large botanical gardens, but the Phipps absolutely blew me away! My dad and I spent several hours walking around and I left feeling inspired and having learned a lot. This is an absolute must-visit, even if you’re only in Pittsburgh for a day or two.

Inclined railway station
The Duquesne Incline, a historic incline railway in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has been carrying passengers up and down Mt. Washington since 1877. The elegant wooden cable cars offer a nostalgic journey to the observation deck at the top, where visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its rivers. The upper station also houses a museum showcasing Pittsburgh's history and inclines around the world.
A must-see attraction in Pittsburgh. You can take the mountain train to the highest point. When you walk out of the station, you can overlook the downtown Pittsburgh from the observation deck. It is very beautiful. You must also visit the working museum at the top of the mountain station. The ticket is cheap but only cash is accepted. There is a parking lot opposite the station at the bottom of the mountain where you can park.

One of the must do attractions in Pittsburgh. Paid parking is available at the lower station. You need to pay cash for tickets. 5$ per adult. Kids below 5 rides free. The carriage travel was quick and took us to the upper station. View is amazing from the top. There is a small working museum on how the incline works if you are interested. Overall took us less than 1hr

This sorta feels like one of those things you need to do when you go to Pittsburgh. Parking is in the huge dirt surface lot on the street below. It’s $10 for 24 hours there didn’t seem to be another option. The incline itself is $5 per person, cash only. If you don’t have cash they’ll give you an IOU. There’s an ATM at the top, you can give them your money when you come back down. There’s lift is a little rickety but you get great views on the 2-3 minute ride up. At the top there’s a small gift shop but you’re probably coming for the views. They’re worth the price of admission alone. We went near dusk so there wasn’t a line or many people waiting to take pics. There’s probably other stuff to do up there but it was cold and windy, so we snapped pics and left. Parking price aside, totally worth it.

A lovely experience...an absolute must while in the Pittsburgh area. Paid parking lot close to the lower level and free (or paid) street parking near the upper level. There is also a bus that runs near the lower level along Lincoln Highway. The incline costs $2.50 each way for adults and $1.25 for children. Cash only...exact change. Children under 5 are free. The last ride is at 12:40am. The ride itself is a lovely experience offering some amazing views of downtown Pittsburgh. The views from the top at the viewing platform are even more amazing...definitely a great spots for photos. Once you get to the top, there are some exhibits within the station. There is also a staircase and walkway which allows you to see the gears and cables pulling the car up the hill...quite fascinating. There is also a small gift shop there.

I lived in Pittsburgh few years ago, I was just visiting the River side casino, every time I been to the casino, this incline always draw my attention. I was always curious about the view from the top. Finally after 12 years, I decided to visit incline, the experience was amazing, it only cost $2.50 one way. When I reached top of the hill, the view of the Pittsburgh downtown was breathtaking. I never thought that the entire expedition would be lifelong memory. I highly suggest you visit this place. Just don’t forget the cash since they don’t accept any cards. It is cash only place and the ATM on the top of the incline charges &$4.00 for cash withdrawal. So, it is better to have $5.00 per person cash.
Raj G — Google review
Visited Pittsburgh for the Steelers VS Browns game (tore em up) and was advised to check out this incline. It was somewhere between O and K. Nothing to call home about unless you’re into waiting 45 mins for a 3 min ride to the top of the incline. Granted, it’s only a $5 round trip per person but this place needs some efficiency. If you are going for the views, I recommend just parking at the top of the incline and getting your photos that way. Cool for you history buffs though
Chris M — Google review
One of Pittsburgh’s must-visit tourist attractions is the Duquesne Incline. The incline cars almost run continuously, resulting in minimal wait times. A round trip ticket costs $5, and each car can accommodate approximately 18 people. At the top station, there’s a gift shop and a self-guided museum that explains how the incline system works. But the most important part is the breathtaking view of Pittsburgh from the top observation deck. There is a parking lot in front of the incline station across the road. It costs 8$ for 2 hours. See photos and videos attached for latest details.
Shreenidhi — Google review
The Duquesne Incline offered great views of the city and a unique experience on train car going up at a 45 degree angle. However, it was quite crowded on the incline and at the overlook at the top. We actually preferred the Monongahela Incline which had no crowds on the incline or at the overlook and a short walk to a neighborhood diner for breakfast.

The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh is a must-visit for art enthusiasts. It celebrates the iconic pop art figure, showcasing his diverse collection from early student works to portraits of global celebrities. The museum also hosts rotating exhibits that push the boundaries of American art, featuring avant-garde performances and workshops.
Just for a day trip to Pittsburgh, I had to try out the Andy Warhol museum. I was pleased surprised with a lot of his artwork that I was not aware of, like his “blotted ink” artwork and seeing how he collected a lot of common items and collectors items! I loved how easy it was to follow the art and I would definitely bring your significant other or a good day trip!

Great museum on the North Shore. This is a multi level (multi floors with an elevator) museum with some of Warhol's art you won't find anywhere else as it does not travel. We spent the best part of the day here. We love Andy Warhol's works and so this was truly a treat for us to see and learn so much more than we knew before. Definitely a must when visiting Pittsburgh.

Was able to visit for free as a museum employee, but I’d definitely have found it worth it for the price! Comprehensive collection and thoughtful layout + wall text. They also offer a few tours which are very worth the time, I had a great time learning from Cate about Andy’s early work. Super cool activities in the basement where you can print your own shirt with Andy’s designs which is such a unique keepsake

Visited Pittsburgh for a weekend to take in a Pirates game and check out the city. The Warhol museum is a must-visit. We spent 90 minutes, but could've stayed much longer if we had the time. Lots of floors covering different themes and eras. Some interactive pieces as well. And the kids area on the bottom floor was a blast for our 7 year old (and for us!)

It was a good place to visit if you like his art. The video on first floor is a must watch to get to understand him more. Then go through the floors like they recommend. Also if you go there for the weekend, The Factory is open during the afternoon so that is a highly recommended!!!

Seven Floors of fun. Start at the top and work your way down. My favorite for the emotion it evoked is the Jackie Kennedy series. It’s her face through the day that JFK was killed. My other was the face from Botticelli’s Birth of Venus. I love all the striking colors.
Bowmanlaurapiper — Google review
I was not that familiar with Warhols works other than his famous iconic works like Campbell soup and Monroe, so I was curious to see his other styles of art, especially his abstract series. The museum is 7 floors and there are a lot of interactive things to take in. My favorite floors were 4 and 2. My favorite pieces were the typewriter and the white gem stone. Im really into minimalist expressions right now. I only had about a 1.5 hour in the museum, but you could easily spend a few hours and really learn about his life. It had a really large gift shop and there was a coffee shop. Both are free to the public. I think after 5 on Fridays they have date night events and admission is half off. It's closed on Tuesdays right now. I was going to go on a Tuesday because my birthday was on a Tuesday. My most interesting take away was his involvement in music and the velvet underground. There was a biography about Nico that looked interesting. I may read it in the future. I don't know if I resonate with their music, but I found their sound interesting as well as the story of Nico and Andy Warhol. You can get a museum pass for 75 a year that lets you into four area museums which is a great artistic investment. The Warhol museum is one of the 4 museums included in the annual pass. You can also get a free day pass for 4 with the rad pass summer program if you have a library card and sign up on the rad website.

The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh is an absolute must-visit — a bold, immersive celebration of one of the most iconic and influential artists of the 20th century. Housed in a sprawling seven-floor space, the museum offers a deep and fascinating dive into Warhol’s life, art, and cultural impact, all right in his hometown. Every floor offers something unique. The Andy Warhol Museum isn’t just an art museum — it’s a cultural landmark that captures the spirit of innovation, rebellion, and creativity. A brilliant and unforgettable stop in Pittsburgh that’s worth every minute.

Randyland is a vibrant and eclectic landmark building in Pittsburgh, created by folk artist Randy Gilson. The house is adorned with vividly colored murals, upbeat artifacts, and an array of quirky objects. Located in the Mexican War Streets neighborhood, this psychedelic dream has transformed the area into a colorful spectacle. It functions as a home, garden, and artists' space decorated with pink flamingos, mannequins, lawn furniture, banana plants, and plastic dinosaurs.
I always enjoy myself at Randyland. Second stop. It’s free. I find it to be a happy place with stimulating colors. It gives me a dose of creativity. It’s an open air space between 3 buildings that is decorated and painted to the max. I always wonder how many gallons of paint has gone into Randy’s creation.

Yeah. Every interesting place. My favorite was the two "one way" street signs outside. I also guess my assumption of art is very different from Randy's. This place does bring much needed color to a colorless street. It was an entertaining visit.

To see a collection of quirky art, go to Randyland. To be inspired, visit Randyland. After visiting the nearby Mattress Factory, my family of three walked to Randyland, a house bakyard filled with toys, sculptures, art, and more. If you're lucky, Randy himself will be there and he loves greeting every guest. Randy started collecting art to help beautiful the neighborhood years ago. It's turned into an outdoor gallery visited by many and inspired an entire neighborhood to reuse and beautify where you live. Our daughter LOVED the toy section and played for an hour in the sand and finding all the different toys scattered throughout. Randyland is a must-visit when in Pittsburgh! Admission is free.

PNC Park is a picturesque baseball stadium located on the riverside, hosting Pittsburgh Pirates games. The classic architecture of the park mimics America's traditional baseball fields and has hosted all-star games and playoffs. The area around the park offers various attractions such as restaurants, retail shops, and world-class museums like the National Aviary and the Andy Warhol Museum. Visitors can also enjoy tours focusing on the history of the Rebellion with a cocktail and tasting flight included.
One of the most beautiful ball parks. If you’re in are coming here do not forget the stadium is outside and many of the seats are in the sun! Catch a day and night game so you can see the skyline during both times of day. You’ll be walking along the Roberto Clemente bridge and the view of the bridges from here are excellent. So many good photo ops. Highly recommend catching a game here!

PNC Park is hands down one of the best ballparks in the country! Getting there is incredibly easy – it’s just a short walk from downtown Pittsburgh, and the area around the stadium is very walkable. Entry into the park was smooth and hassle-free, which made the whole experience even better. The ballpark itself is beautiful with plenty of concessions available throughout. As expected at a major league park, food and drinks are on the pricey side, but the variety of options makes it worth it. The views are absolutely spectacular – you get an amazing backdrop of downtown Pittsburgh and the river, which adds so much to the game-day atmosphere. Even if your seats aren’t the best, PNC Park has plenty of areas to move around and take in different perspectives of the game. From the outfield concourses to open standing areas, every angle seems to offer a great view. Overall, the combination of easy access, great amenities, and one-of-a-kind views make PNC Park a must-visit for any baseball fan or visitor to Pittsburgh.

The stadium has good history, atmosphere. Easy to walk to from nearby hotels. Very clean, staff friendly and accommodating. This was the only stadium that the usher wiped down my seat so far. We've been to several. Nice area, worth the trip. It was kind of confusing to walk around inside the stadium to check it out. Before we sat in our seats.

This is my favorite ball park. We travel the country just to see baseball stadiums. This is a great place. The view... the people. MLB has to do a better job with the food but the prices are below average and if you go when the gates open drinks were on happy hour prices. The ushers were great. This is the one ballpark that you want to sit higher up on the first base line so you have a great view. Normally I like to sit as close as I can to the field but the view is worth the sacrifice and the tickets are way cheaper. Take in as many games as you can while you're there.

Calling yourself the Best Ballpark in America takes some big ones. Being an SF Giants fan, I might have to disagree. I attended a Sunday afternoon game here, was a rather warm day, but my seats were soon in the shade and I was able to enjoy the rest of the game. The views are quite stunning, it’s a perfectly situated ballpark. My only complaint was that the concessions weren’t as special as the park.
Dennis P — Google review
The best baseball views in the country. The concourses are open and have lots of food and drinks available. Large bathrooms, easy to find seating. The exterior has lots of foor and bar options and the walk over the Clemente bridge makes for a great outing.

Best ballpark in the world with the best view of Pittsburgh! The employees are all very friendly- everyone at security, to the elevator operators or the vendors all make you feel immediately welcomed and seem very proud to work there. Be prepared to pay a lot for parking which is anywhere from $25-$40 on game day. The lots fill up quickly, so be prepared for a walk from the parking lots or garages surrounding the stadium. Food prices are also outrageous but there’s a lot of choices. I ordered the a slice of “world-famous” Caliente pizza which was huge and equivalent to two slices and cost $12 a slice. It was very good and also very greasy! All in all, if you’re a baseball fan, add this ballpark on your list to visit…you won’t be disappointed!
Tricia P — Google review
This is a beautiful park. It's clean and the staff were all friendly. Even the fans were kind and helpful. The surrounding area is nice and felt safe both before and after the game. There are a lot of great eateries and attractions around the stadium. The whole package makes for a great experience.

One of the best boat tours I've ever been on! Narration is really fascinating and tells you so many interesting facts about Pittsburgh heritage and buildings, there is even a photographer on board that allows you to buy images of family and friends. Some great views and angles of the city and its bridges.

The sightseeing tour was a lot of fun. The prices was right for the hour tour. The ferry had a full bar and lots of different areas on the boat to get good views. The tour narrator was great, tons of information and covered just about every building in the city, very fun tour, good way to spend an afternoon in Pittsburgh!

Awesome cruise!!! Get some history on the Burg. The announcer was very enthusiastic and made the journey fun. Pricing is also affordable. The crew was great and the boat was clean. Nice family and friends activity to spend some quality time in the Burg.

We have been able to enjoy a boat tour for the past three years when we visit for work in the fall. It's always a nice comfortable time. The history and jokes are fun. It's relaxing, the drinks and food are good. They offer some basic concession food. Hot dogs/ popcorn and serve alcohol.

We took the captains dinner cruise. The food was pretty good, the scenery was beautiful, it was a calming and relaxing experience. My favorite aspect was enjoying the crisp night air on the open air deck after we finished our dinner.

The Friday R&B dance party was just one my favorite things I've done all summer!! The drinks were pretty expensive and the snack station ran out of buffalo and BarQ chicken and that was left to choose from was a hot dog and nachos. The cheese sauce could've at least been warm. But overall I really enjoyed myself. The DJ was lit all night and night view of my beautiful, Pittsburgh city from top deck of the boat was just breathtaking!!

Point State Park, located at the confluence of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers in downtown Pittsburgh, spans 36 acres and offers a mix of historical landmarks and recreational opportunities. The park features the Fort Pitt Museum and the Fort Pitt Blockhouse, which provide insight into Pittsburgh's founding and its role in the American Revolutionary War. Visitors can enjoy boating, hiking, biking, or simply relax while taking in picturesque views of the city and rivers.
Really nice park and nice views of city. Def a must go to check out. Had some museums also but it was closed when I came. Area and park being under construction so in a Few years I’m sure the area will be even nicer.

Great place to see the rivers from the Ohio River. There are no guardrails to protect you from falling into the rivers. Very windy, so securing your personals is a must. There are shaded walkways to enjoy some botanical insight and learn about the local vegetation. Great place to run, jog or bike. Security makes there rounds frequently. Nice open space to play it have a picnic, but can be very crowded. You can hear and see the stadium from the point.
Fort L — Google review
It’s beautiful, I really like the botanical garden and the area next to the university. The park feels very relaxing. But right now there’s a lot of road construction, so GPS doesn’t really help. For tourists like us, it’s not very friendly—we’re just wandering around trying to find our way.

I was pretty disappointed that the fountain wasn't working on our visit(Monday, May 19). But, it's still an absolutely stunning area to soak up all the great views of Pittsburgh.
Suomirakastaa — Google review
Point State Park is one of those rare places that captures the entire soul of a city. Where the three rivers meet, you can feel the energy of Pittsburgh — steel roots, modern skyline, and endless water reflections that look straight out of a postcard. Whether you’re catching the fountain mist on a summer evening, watching boats glide by, or taking in the golden bridges from every angle, it’s pure magic. The park is clean, peaceful, and perfectly blends urban life with nature’s calm. If you want to understand Pittsburgh, start here — the Point is the point.
Adam F — Google review
Great walk to this park. Pretty amazing views and while going there you can go through the market or do the river walk. Both are amazing. Must do if you are in Pittsburgh.
N N — Google review
This is a well maintained park that offers great walking trails and sites of historical importance. One can walk up to the end of the park, which is the point, and see forks of the Ohio where the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio rivers converge. This area was contested by French, Indigenous, Pennsylvania, and Virginia that culminated in the actions that led to the Seven Year's War. The outline of Fort Duquesne and the Fort Pitt Museum offer much information for those who love the historic significance of this area. the pathways offer views through vegetation as well as of the rivers. I recommend running, jogging, and walking around 9:00 in the morning at this time of year. This is a must see destination for those in the Pittsburgh area.

The Mattress Factory is a unique contemporary art museum located in Pittsburgh's North Shore. It features avant-garde, room-sized installations created by resident artists and contributors from around the world. The museum spans three separate buildings and offers immersive displays that showcase mesmerizing works of art. Visitors can also participate in art classes using various materials such as fabric and plexiglass. After exploring the museum, guests can unwind at Allegheny Commons, which provides a stunning view of the city.
this was an absolutely amazing experience!!! all of the exhibits were so cool (though i admit, some were MUCH better than others) and it was just so much fun! a lot of the exhibits have a creepy vibe which i absolutely LOVE. i wanted to stay there for a lot longer than i did and just stare at some of the exhibits for hours. i would absolutely recommend the mattress factory, and i do plan to come again!
Charlee W — Google review
The staff were kind and helpful. There were a few really neat exhibits like the Raggedy Anne and "Blood in the Water" stairwell. I feel as though it would be a better museum to visit during warmer months when outdoor exhibits are in bloom and going between buildings isn't a chore in freezing weather (It isn't one big building; it's a few buildings scattered around the block). Be aware that one building upper floor is in very low light (red light) and can be tricky to navigate for some.
Megs B — Google review
I really don’t understand the amazing reviews. I have been to many different museums in many different countries and cities. I am from Pittsburgh and proud of my city and went here with a friend visiting and left completely embarrassed. This is the worst museum i have ever been to I honestly feel like I got scammed for $22 a person. Where do I start… Was told to start at the 4th floor and work my way down. Got to the 4th floor and thought it was a joke. Plywood walkway surrounded by cut up cardboard leading to three tvs of people wrestling. That was it. 2nd floor was completely dark except for one room with a blue screen and one with a red box. 3rd floor had a vr exhibit where the vr headset did not work. The mirror rooms were the coolest part but besides that where is the art?? I like modern art but I felt the whole place was just… empty The museum was so small and barely had anything in it The other building was just a dilapidated building with a few odd things in it although the third flood was the most interesting.
Benjamin P — Google review
The experience overall was pretty boring and not very thought-provoking. There's some mildly interesting exhibits but not really worth it in my opinion. Though I may not be the target audience. For people not into modern art, it's bordering on one of those carnival scams where you pay a high price to see a low effort exhibit.
Max — Google review
Interesting contemporary art space. Basically they gave artists a whole house or a floor and said, 'Do whatever the hell you want.' Then, some other artist comes in and does their thing. So, these exhibits feel like snowflakes. Here, then gone. Some artists made more of an impact than others.
Peter D — Google review
For a unique art experience, go to the Mattress Factory inside an old mattress warehouse. Admission can be steep so try going on a day where there's discounted admission. It took my family an hour to go through both buildings. The art is very unique and some of it is hands on. Our eight-year-old daughter enjoyed the third floor of the main building where there's VR and the Kasama room. Restrooms are on the bottom floor. Don't sleep on the gift shop for some treasures. Also, spend time walking down the alley finding murals and art on houses.
Austin G — Google review
Fun art museum with contemporary art exhibits. Some of it worked for me, some of it didn't, but it all made me think. The museum is spread across three historic buildings. Tips: Start at 500 Sampsonia to get tickets. There's a parking lot off Jacksonia Street.
John M — Google review
Not a bad way to spend a few hours, but I wasn’t wowed by the place as a whole. Some of the installations were thought provoking and engaging (I particularly like the works exploring and engaging with the history and impact of Pittsburghs industrial history), but I found other works to be vapid at times. Definitely take the stairs from the 4th to 3rd floor, there’s an incredible view. Also, and this is just by nature of some of the converted buildings, the campus isn’t incredibly accessible. They have measures where possible but some of the spaces just aren’t conducive to lifts or elevators. There were also a large number of low light installations that were kind of treacherous- I tripped and fell over a bean bag in one room because the room and bean bags were all black and just kind of strewn about.

Really wanted to take my toddler here.. Thought I'd have some luck as there's actually a little parking lot, but it was packed when I went on Saturday. It's in the middle of a neighborhood where all the streets are either no parking or permit only.. So we ended up going to the library down the street (which does not have much of a kids area btw, but better than nothing for getting out of the house). I called the Center and they said they didn't know where else I could park.. I might try parking at the library and walking next time.. I just didn't want to get yelled at, as their lot is reserved for patrons. Hope I'll be able to update my review in the future, but wanted to note the parking situation here for others.

The Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA) in Pittsburgh is a sprawling contemporary art museum that houses permanent collections of paintings, sculptures, and more. It is one of the four Carnegie Museums in the city, alongside the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, The Andy Warhol Museum, and the Carnegie Science Center. CMOA features a diverse collection ranging from antique to contemporary art.
A smorgasbord of art. A little modern, impressionistic, classical. I liked the modern furniture and appliances display. Visited a copy of Venus di Milo and Winged Victory of Samothrace. Helpful staff. Good selection in gift shop. You can also see the Museum of Natural History with your ticket. My Cincinnati Art Museum membership got me in free.

We went for the Musem of Art mainly but enjoyed the Natural History section too. Friendly staff and guides help you to learn more about the art. The natural history section had great exhibits on birds and bugs. And a jewelry exhibit was fun to run through. Easy parking make it easy to spend time here.
Sharlene F — Google review
Well, it’s not an overly large museum, the collection is really high-quality. And there’s a huge amount of variety. You can see a lot of European paintings from the 15th to the 19th centuries, but I thought the best part of it was the pre-impressionism impressionism and then what followed after. All of the big name artists that you’d expect in those time periods are pretty well represented. And they aren’t bogus quality. Most of them are actually pretty good ones. It’s definitely worth a trip.
Lon W — Google review
Art collection wasn't super inspiring to me. Building is stunning. Ticket price a little high if you're only planning on visiting the art side, but a good deal if you want to do the art+natural history double visit in the same day
Maximilian K — Google review
I'm a member so that I can visit this large art gallery often. It houses so many famous pieces including a Monet Water Lilies! The collection of Charles "Teenie" Harris photography, a Pittsburgh icon, captures Black life tenderly. Many modern artworks as well. Many galleries to choose from. Plus it is connected to the Carnegie Natural History Museum where you can see beautiful minerals and see our famous dinosaurs just to name a few.
Michele K — Google review
A mixed bag. Parts of the Carnegie Museum of Art are truly transcendent. The Hall of Architecture is a metaphysical experience — towering replicas of Renaissance masterpieces, true beauty and spiritual order. The Grand Staircase is breathtaking, with a mural of angels. Unfortunately, the rest of the museum goes in the opposite direction, drowning you in nihilism. There are many modern, woke, joyless, or grotesque pieces. The Heinz Galleries in particular felt like a full-on assault on my spirit - my fiancé and I could barely make it through. I was particularly infuriated and offended by the removal of a historic Greek statue in the Hall of Sculptures, now swapped for twisted, malformed figure with blackened hands and a curved spine staring at a cell phone. Whoever made the decision to replace the original piece should lose their job - an absolute disgrace to the beauty of the hall, intended as a sanctuary of classical beauty and ideal form, now degraded by the intrusion of a grotesque figure mocking everything the space was meant to honor. I am torn: half the museum is uplifting and enriching, half of it is demoralizing and draining. Overall, I'm not confident that the leadership at the Carnegie Museum of Art is committed to distinguishing between that which is beautiful and that which panders to modern nihilism. Art should elevate the soul, it should be transcendent and timeless - it should never bend the knee to the ugly, chaotic, soulless, and nihilistic.
Amy M — Google review
Great to have museum of arts and natural history in one. Compared to the other big museum, Carnegie Museum is not too crowded and have seats available in some rooms.

I didn’t plan to come into the museum but I ended up having a hour, so I was able to come in and had some good time. A lot of their arts are from similar ones from gallery of arts from DC, so I really enjoyed. The map is not so friendly but all good!

Sandcastle Water Park, with its many slides and pools, is a great place to spend a day in Pittsburgh. The park is situated alongside the Monongahela River and has been providing fun & enjoyment activities to locals and visitors for over twenty-nine years. There are numerous slides for all ages as well as a lazy river and jumbo wave pool.
This is a family friendly spot to take children of all ages. My daughter is 4 and enjoyed all the pools. She is not tall enough for the slides but there is still plenty for her to do. The pizza spot is also our favorite place to eat while visiting! We opted for platinum passes this year & we’ve gotten our moneys worth thus far. I would def recommend!
Shannon H — Google review
I went to Sandcastle Water Park for the first time yesterday and this place is beautiful. I was amazed at how clean and lush the place felt. I know the place has been around for a while, but with few exceptions the place felt well maintained. Now the rub. All the employees I came in contact appeared to be under 20 or over 80 and were either rude or clueless. I’m sure this had to do with a “difficulty hiring” or “no one wants to work” which is code for poor management.. I mention the difficulty in hiring because staff was almost the reason I didn’t even enter the park, no one could answer my questions regarding questions to the new season pass I had just purchased. At one point the person at the customer service desk told me I should refer to the web site for the answers to my questions. Still not sure why they even bother with a customer service desk. For all the tomfoolery and attempts by ownership to fail this business, this place felt nice. A good water oasis by the river. I liked how the rides and pools are spaced to help limit overcrowding in any one area. This feature allowed for sunbathing and relaxing areas to be more peaceful. Lockers are available, but they are all located inside the park, and are not cheap. Food and drink seemed reasonable. Shaded picnic area outside the front gate. If you don’t plan to come by car, the GAP trail runs right next to the front gate, which is on the back side of the parking lot entrance. No lockers outside the park. Bike racks not convenient. Lockers are not cheap.
Eric C — Google review
Not worth the regular rate -- only go when it's discounted. There isn't much to do when rides are all opened, but from what I've heard and seen today, they regularly have at least 3 to 4 rides closed every day. Today three slides and the lazy river were closed. Also, please someone send an adult into the Potato Patch to supervise the workers. There was a long line of people waiting for food while four girls were surrounding the potato slices sink with their arms elbow deep in the water PLAYING WITH the potato slices. They were then filling their gloves with water to make water balloons and flinging the potato slice water around the kitchen. They were also blowing up their gloves with air with their mouths, putting the same gloves on, and serving people. Totally unacceptable. I give three star because the rides are definitely fun, but your employees suck (with the exception of the life guard on Dragon's Den asking trivia questions. He was very nice). Pay better to get better employees. Lord knows with a $25 parking fee and all the other ways you nickel and dime guests, you can afford it.
Jeanine — Google review
Such a fun place for everyone! Great slides, food, and pools! Make sure to wear water shoes or sandals on the board walks. They get HOT! Overall awesome place!
Brandon D — Google review
The slides and overall quality it great, but the parking costs more on the weekend and it wasn't specified and half of the slides and the lazy river was closed but we still had to pay full price for more time in lines and less time doing the stuff we paid for. I think it was because they were understaffed with college loss going back to school which I get, bit it doesn't seem like paying for all of the slides and whatnot only to be able to enjoy half of them is fair...I don't mean to sound like a complaining mamby pamby but that might be too late. Nice place to visit and cool location, maybe just call ahead and see what's up and running/confirm prices!
John R — Google review
This was my first time here, my family will not be returning, thank goodness I came in on a guest pass. The food was okay, the rides were pretty good. My 7 y/o loved the pool. My husband loved the wave pool. The employee advised that the refills were all watered down. Also, the reason for the low rating, is that your restrooms and ladies showers were unacceptable. Just horrible, pure filth. When I found out how much it is normally without a free pass, I was just dumbfounded. Just terrible upkeep. I will keep my money and spend it at Disney. Do better, I really had high hopes for this place.
Sonya J — Google review
Seemed like park was understaffed took forever to get into the the park then seemed like half food places and attractions were closed. The attractions that were open were nice. I rented one of the two seat cabanas by wave pool and it was real nice. The pavement got super hot next time I will wear my slides between attractions. Lol

Nestled in the serene Riverview Park, just a short drive from downtown Pittsburgh, the Allegheny Observatory offers an extraordinary glimpse into the cosmos. Operated by the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Physics and Astronomy, this historic site has been a hub for astronomical research since its establishment in 1859. Visitors can embark on guided tours during select evenings throughout spring, summer, and fall.
Took the free tour here on a Friday night. It was spectacular. I highly recommend the tour. It’s such a gem in the city of Pittsburgh that not a lot of people visit. You will not be disappointed. You will learn a lot, and get to check out this awesome historic building.

I love hearing about special interests from folks who are passionate about a topic. This is a lovely overview of Pittsburgh's history through the lens (literally) of astronomy and astrophysics. Absolutely a must-do for anyone interested in the city's foundations in education and science. A two hour sampling that leaves you thirsty for more! Probably not the right venue for the U12 crowd -- take them to the science center for a Buhl planetarium tour unless they have a specific, deep interest -- but absolutely awesome for the armchair astronomy buff.

Great old piece of history. It’s part of Riverview park which is expansive with nice trails. We did not find any public bathrooms, but that was only negative. They have cut dog park up top by observatory with water and is fenced off. The building is beautiful and although has its blemishes, you can still appreciate its old glory. Lots of history even in its short time in use. There is plenty of parking at the top and at the bottom. Take the time to see the building and enjoy the trails surrounding it as well. It’s in a nice quiet spot away from all the noise and traffic. So glad we found it!

It's an ideal spot for a rainy day or a unique outing with the family. Visitors can expect various price points for admission and plenty of activities to keep kids engaged.
Best thing since Discovery Zone (back in the day) Urban Air is the ultimate indoor playground for kids (and kids at heart)! From trampolines, climbing walls, obstacle courses, and the Sky Rider, there's lots to do . The staff is friendly and attentive, and the facility feels clean and safe. We had a birthday party that went well. The children get socks. Perfect for a rainy-day adventures or high energy children 12 and under love it, adults too. Highly recommend for families looking to keep the children active.

Great place for the kids to run around and play and climb in a safe environment. The employees were well trained on fitting harnesses properly and were serious about making sure people were safe.

A few days ago my family (husband and two boys ages 4 and 7) went to Urban Air in the Waterfront. Overall we had a good time. It was very apparent that they were understaffed, I had to watch over my own kids at the Battle Beam area. With that said though, it felt that the staff were doing their best to keep everything under control (Dodgeball was handled great!) We really enjoyed the Sky Rider Coaster thing though it took a while for an employee to get to us. It was a little irritating that there wasn’t at least one more person down there to help out the 2 employees putting the harnesses on people. You have 3 attractions that require harnesses but only have 2 people to do them. I really hope you all can get them help because they were working hard, sweating. I wish I could remember their names 😔. They did a great job though and we had a lot of fun! The food was just about what you’d expect for this type of place, our wait wasn’t too long and we enjoyed the chicken bites. Though we had our little grievances, we still had a lot of fun. Urban Air wasn’t busy so we got to do everything we wanted!

NOT doing another yearly membership! I tried to verify the expiration of my daughter's membership and because it was a present they would not tell me if it expired or not. Why? I gave them all the info they requested. THEN they tell me no on info that isn't personal. In addition, they never have enough people working the snack counter so it is a miserable time trying to feed hungry kids.

We had such a wonderful experience at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park! The manager, Donald, truly went above and beyond to make sure our visit was special. He was attentive, professional, and made us feel valued as guests. A big shoutout to Char, one of the attendants, who was amazing with our 3-year-old, Elliott. She was patient, kind, and so engaging — Elliott had the best time thanks to her! The staff here really made the difference and turned a fun outing into a memorable one. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this location to other families.

We had a buy 1/ get another 50% off. The lone person at the front desk said she'd never seen one, didn't know what to do so we couldn't use it. We bought 2 of the all inclusive tickets anyway but it was disappointing. Most of the staff were nice, one lady was exceptional. Very understaffed. But we had to search for staff to let the kids use attractions. Food, very expensive. After spending a disappointing hour there ( after the 25 minutes waiting to be checked in behind the one person in front of us) my child was told she could not use the trampoline because her trampoline socks were not purchased there. We left. ADD: The reply from the business was inadequate. They did not dot do anything to remedy the bad experience, the extra money I had to spend. The $100 I spent will be the last I waste there for a disappointing time. Don't waste your $

Attendants today did an unusually good job of watching out and keeping the kids following safety rules. They should be proud, especially those on the warrior course. The food was also really good and not as expensive as I expected. Overall good experience. We got the summer pass and it was definitely worth it.

Kayla was the girl working the at the food court. She was absolutely amazing. When you bring kids to the stand with you it’s a nightmare. Because they can never decide what they want. Well this girl has the most patience for a young girl. Thank you Kayla for being the best!

This impressive museum and arcade boasts over 300 pinball machines spanning various eras, including a rare gem from the 1933 World's Fair. Fans of iconic franchises like Star Wars will be thrilled to explore dedicated sections featuring games inspired by their favorite films.
I really enjoyed my visit! The owner is friendly and showed us around the collection of pinball and arcade machines. We were able to play most of the machines, and all worked well. Very reasonable pricing as well!

Wow... what a GREAT place to visit! No messing around with coins! Pay one price and pay all day. There are games i haven't seen in years and ones that are 100 years old... video games, air hockey, skeet ball, shooting games, driving games, a place to chill...2 FLOORS, and HUNDREDS of games! Lol.. it should be called Pinball Paradise! 👈🏻😁 We've been to several museums and this and Vegas are the 2 best we've been to! An absolute MUST if you're in the Pittsburgh area. 👈🏻😎 We will definitely come back here every time we visit Pittsburgh! 👍🏽

We had talked about going here for well over a year. We had a free day and decided to make the drive. We live over an hour from the city. It was a blast. There are tons of machines from very vintage to retro with some more modern as well. The owner was very nice and happy to talk about the business. I noted a set of drums at the far end of the building on a staging area. Turns out he is a keyboardist and sometimes drummer in a band. As a fellow musician I appreciated that he brings live music into Pinball Perfection occasionally. There are machines that are not operational while he gets parts and time to repair them. But there are plenty of machines to play! We paid for an hour and there was a whole row that I never touched. For the price you can't beat it!! The nostalgia alone was worth it for me. We will for sure return when we are back in Pittsburgh and even make the trip again with it in mind.

This place is awesome! 100’s of diff pinball machines and styles. 11 and 13 year daughters never been and loved it. Pool, football, ski ball bowling, video games…. Pay $20 for unlimited, beyond worth it. Was open New Years Day thankfully. Cool Pgh owners/workers too.

Great place to visit if pinball enthusiast. Hours may vary. ---If kids are tall enough to play pinball, worth going to for a couple of hours. --- place essentially operates as a hands on retro-arcade museum. Everything is set on "free" play ---- ----[ $ Admission is hourly $ or day rate $.]---- Mostly pinball. Some retro arcade games. One ski-ball & other electro-mechanical wonders , however no tickets nor prizes, just fun!
Joe S — Google review
A great selection of classic pinball with some modern machines on the floor too. I enjoyed that each game had a card with notes on the condition of the game that marked any issues with the game; lights out, ramps broken, or A-OK! They don’t leave the power on for the whole place. Understandable if you consider the power cost. Just tell them what game you want to play and they will gladly turn it on. It costs $12/hour to play during the week when we visited. An extra fee if you pay with credit card. Bring cash. The atmosphere is the only thing we thought needed improvement. No air conditioning. So it will be hot inside during the day if it’s hot outside. It’s an old-no-frills-building with dingy walls and some cluttered areas with machines, equipment and even a band setup. The bathroom is needing updated. Overall it’s a good place to experience some great games. Just be prepared for adjusting to the atmosphere if needed.

Such a fun place! I thought my sons might be bored but the whole family enjoyed our first visit here. They have so many pinball machines from so many eras. The Star Wars collection was impressive. I loved the action figures and collectibles that were around the games too. It is worth any pinball lovers time to plan a trip.

This is a must visit in the Pittsburgh area. My wife, 8 year old son and I spent 2+ hours here playing every machine possible. I would have stayed all night but had to stick to an 8 year old's schedule. When we woke up the next morning, the first thing my son asked for was to go back. There is plenty of fun to be had and plenty of nostalgia for anyone with fond childhood memories of pinball machines. The building itself is unassuming with no-frills but the size and quality of the machine collection makes up for any lack of beauty.

MuseumLab, part of the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, is set to reopen with new exhibits and refreshed spaces on June 12. This date holds special significance as it marks the museum's debut in 1983. The venue has also been praised for hosting weddings, offering a flexible and accommodating experience for couples. With its friendly and organized staff, MuseumLab provides a beautiful space for events while allowing the use of multiple areas to keep everything flowing smoothly.
We had our wedding at MuseumLab on 10/21/23 and it was the best day ever. I know now why every vendor I told our site to was so excited to be at ML with us! Allyson is a fabulous venue coordinator who is friendly, organized, and thorough. She went above and beyond at every turn to help us keep everything together and create a beautiful space. It was great to be able to have our entire event in one space but be able to use multiple areas to really keep everything flowing and give every area a distinct job. The building is so beautiful on it's own and really is stunning at every turn. On our wedding day I was not worried about any set-up or tear down logistics, I knew that she had everything in the venue on lock and I was absolutely right! Everything flowed so well and they took great care to transform the space. You get a lot included for the reservation price like a lot of tables & chairs, drapes, and a great team of employees. We really felt taken care of and like everyone at the venue was just as excited as we were! Thank you to Allyson and her team for an amazing experience.

One of my absolute favorite wedding venues hands down! What makes this place so special is the variety of beautiful spaces it offers. Every corner feels like its own little world, from dreamy dinner space to unique indoor stairway, each with its own vibe and character. It’s a creative playground that truly lends itself to an unforgettable experience, for both couples and guests. As a vendor, it’s a dream to work here. The flow of the venue makes every part of the day feel effortless and inspired. It’s one of those places that just feels good the moment you arrive. Can’t wait to be back!

MuseumLab is housed in a beautiful old Carnegie Library on the north side of Pittsburgh. Much of the original character of the library remains including a tile mosaic in the floor and architectural archways and columns. The staff of MuseumLab is welcoming and friendly. The Mo Willems art exhibit on display was a fun juxtaposition of modern art against the early 1900s architecture.

Such a nice place for everyone. The building has an amazing architecture and the inside is preserved with a twist of modernity. The kids loved all the activities on the 1st floor, the 2nd floor was closed unfortunately so we didn't get to see what was going on there.

Staff was great. Security guard is a joke! Staff when we bought tickets told us the youngest couldn't go, but the older kids could go in without an adult. Totally fine! Got over there and the security guard told us that I had to go in with them, but suggested the 3 year old waited outside! I asked if he expected me to leave her outside alone and he laughed and goes "well she cant be in here can she?" Crazy! We will not return
Milly H — Google review
Fun add on to a day at the Children’s Museum (included in admission). Don’t skip the gymlacium! They’ve made a great rope climbing activity out of the original library bookshelves for the structural integrity of the building.

We had our wedding at the MuseumLab (~120 people) and absolutely loved the venue. I can't even believe there was a time where we considered other locations. Our guests loved that we used each floor of the venue and had everything at one location. Each floor made for a unique space for the different events and the overall flow from 1st to 2nd to 3rd floor worked very well. Allyson was great to work with. We absolutely recommend MuseumLab to others planning their wedding.

Hofbräuhaus Pittsburgh is a Southside favorite, offering an authentic Bavarian-style beer experience with traditional snacks and live entertainment. Modeled after the famous Munich original, it provides a taste of Europe in the Steel City. The large beer garden along the river is perfect for enjoying a warm summer night under the stars.
For our last dinner in Pittsburgh after a hot day in the sun, we enjoyed a meal at Hofbrauhaus! Ashely was an excellent server and all of the food was delicious. She recommended beers to my parents that they really enjoyed. The ambiance was fun too! Wish we had this back home in CT.

Amazing food and great service. We had a great dinner with the Munich sampler, the bratwurst chili, the pork shank, and kids menu of schnitzel and mini corndogs. Hubby had the beer on tap and enjoyed every bite and drink. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you want a chill dinner in a large dining hall. Noise level was medium/high but they also have a pretty patio area. They carry Pepsi products for those who are particular about their soda

The Hofbräuhaus keg tapping is an unforgettable experience that blends tradition, excitement, and German charm. From the keg parade before the keg tapping to the pouring of the keg; the energy in the room is electric. The live music, authentic German beer, and festive atmosphere make you feel like you’ve been transported straight to Munich. The staff is friendly and engaging, and the quality of the beer is outstanding—smooth, fresh, and perfectly poured. It’s more than just a drink; it’s a celebration of culture and community. Truly an excellent event that should not be missed!

A nice German-style tavern. Lot's of room even for larger parties. The beer was good, but the food could have been better. The quality of the sausage meat & spices was not of the highest caliber. It was still decent though and the sauerkraut was very good.

The tour of the mansion definitely made history come alive. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and provided us with historical facts with such details that I felt like we traveled back in time and really gave me a deepened appreciation of what I am looking at. Also the car and carriage museum is free! Take the time to read the signs! There is also an old classic car you can sit and take pictures in. Unfortunately the museum was closed when we visited. The grounds itself is free and beautiful. Definitely put this on your list and plan for few hours here!

Schenley Plaza is a beautiful and vibrant spot right in the heart of Pittsburgh’s cultural district. This is a very nice little grass area on Pitt Campus. For the six years that I was at Pitt, I would come here many times to relax, do homework, try the food from the food stands, and visit various music festivals and events here. Whoever manages this plaza does a good job keeping it clean. There's also a small carousel and merry-go-round for kids. My church has also come here to host bible studies. Lastly, sometimes they have free fitness sessions here like Yoga and Meditation.

Everything an urban park should be. Not overwhelmingly huge, open, airy, several food options including one lovely place called The Porch. There’s also table tennis, lovely plantings, mod seating, and of course, a carousel. What’s also nice is the surrounding buildings that add to the character of the park.
KGQ N — Google review
Schenley Plaza is a wide, green hangout in Oakland, a short walk from CMU and right by the Cathedral of Learning. It’s an easy place to pause between classes: a big lawn with moveable chairs and tables, plenty of shade, and a friendly, open feel. In warm weather the carousel runs and kids laugh, while students read, eat, or meet for group work at the edges. Food stands and nearby cafes make it simple to grab lunch and sit outside. There are often small events or music, but most days it’s calm enough to study or people-watch. It works for quick breaks, laid-back picnics, and evening chats after lab. When you’re done, you can head straight into Schenley Park, over to Phipps, or back to campus in a few minutes. It’s simple, central, and welcoming.

Wonderfully done in an interactive format that's engaging for kids. Adults learn too. Get to watch the making of a future moon lander and learn of Pittsburgh's role. Not a large museum, but very interesting. I would recommend going.

Fascinating place to watch engineers and scientists work. The museum is small, but the video and chance to watch engineers work are well worth it. They also have a number of fun activities for kids. The ticket price is affordable for a small museum. Go there first and get $3 off the Carnegie science museum. The lunar lander will be leaving soon and they will start working on a larger lunar lander.

Highmark Sportsworks is a modern center located within the Carnegie Science Center, offering an engaging way for kids to learn about science through sports activities. The Motion Lab combines sport exercises and science, allowing children to get their wiggles out while learning. Visitors can also test their reaction time against an ice hockey goalie in the Sports Challenge. One of the most popular attractions is the opportunity to become a human yo-yo by swinging high in the air using cable-tethered handles.
I loved going her when I was a kid, so getting to take my own babies was so special. they don't have as much as they used to. But the kids still seemed to have a wonderful time

Very cool research/science based facility. More geared towards kids and teenagers, but it was awesome to see them wanting to be active. Still worth checking out. Careful going on a weekday during school hours. Sadly some things were not working, but only because said kids are just being kids.
Nathan B — Google review
our kids has fun, there is a ton to learn, i love the fact they have a area designed for babies who are just learning to walk/crawling. not alot of places have that type of thing. and when you have a 11 month old who also wants down to play but there is bigger kids running around this type if area is so special and thoughtful! unfortunately alot of parents let their older kids run in there making it dangerous for the little ones. but I will say when the staff caught it they would kick them nicely out of that area and I so appreciated the fact they did that! Ours kids favorite part was the submarine tour which was really well done staff had every answer to every question. and then the 4th floor play area along with all the energy tables and the human body tables. they had such a blast. I will say there is alot of reading so in some ways its a bit better for older kids. BUT there was also enough to do that our 9 yr old, toddler, and 11 month old all seem to have alot of fun! I was a tad disappointed in the sports building though that's why I'm going to do 4 stars. and that's still hardly deserve 4. but alot of things were out of order, rock wall was the biggest thing my child wanted and it was not open. they also don't have as many things to do in there as they did years ago when I went, and part of that truly may have been to so many things being out of order or closed. luckily that build comes with general ticket admission so I can't say it wasted our money. but we only spent like maybe 10 mins in there and then our kids wanted to go back in the main building. the main building also had a few things no longer working I'd love to see them be able to get some of that fixed and working properly again. it's such a great educational building.
Courtney G — Google review
Let’s get physical! Highmark Sportsworks has always been the highlight of Carnegie Science Center with our kids. Imagine becoming a human yo-yo! Visitors have the opportunity to swing high in the air, up and back down-and then up again by pulling on cable-tethered handles. Some make it all the way up and done don’t. One of the best things to do in this building, as obvious by the line that waits. Use lasers to determine your Major League swing speed, and whether you could knock a ball out of PNC Park. My kids could spend forever in this cage trying to better their speed! Remove and repair body parts linked to the ten most common sports injuries. An operation game bigger than yourself? Why wouldn’t you want to play?! Learn CPR to the beat of the disco hit “Stayin’ Alive.” My son really focused on this one. Future EMT? Wheelchair Racers gets the circulation in the arms going. Jump to see how high you can dunk! How long can you hang? Test your endurance on the pull up bars. This one really gets their heart rate going! Compare your time against that of Olympic silver medalist and local track star Lauryn Williams in Olympic Sprint. Race the machine or race someone else at the same time! Lots of physical activity on this one! Test your reaction speed against an ice hockey goalie at Reaction Time Hockey. These green screens are always on my kids lists of fun things to do! Motion lab was the most recent addition. Perform various sports-related activities while being recorded on a high-speed camera at about 200–250 frames per second. Once recorded, play back your footage, and compare your motions to a professional athlete! This teaches you how to improve your movement with science. Other pieces here and there bringing lots of fun to all ages! The rock wall has never been open when we have attended over the years which the kids are always bummed about. The overhead obstacle course that was once there has been removed which was also a great loss. I understand that things change, but adding some more over the top items would really beef up your rankings. The kids still had fun, but you could tell something was missing at Sportsworks. Go to the Yo-yo when you see the line a little shorter or you may never get on. Time is a killer on this one. Wheelchair accessibility to the building and a ramp that takes you down. Wheelchair accessible parking outside and restrooms. Still a great addition to your Carnegie Science Center admission! Be sure to bring the kids!

I was very disappointed in the Sportsworks. We had an eleven year old with us, and there was not a lot of activities geared for that age. Almost nothing for teenagers. The rock wall was closed, several activities were broken, and I was expecting some other high adventure/ropes course, but it has been removed. I only recommend both the Carnegie Science Center and Highmark Sportsworks for youth ages 10 and under.

This place is fantastic for families. I took my 6-year-old while my wife had my other daughter doing other things in town. We spent a few hours there which felt just right. I didn't get to go into the submarine but I had done that when I was younger and I'd like to take my daughter but they were sold out today. The current center piece of the science center is the history of guitars July 2022. The mid floor is a United health exhibit on the body. My daughter really enjoyed looking at x-rays and MRIs and cat scans and whatnot. As always, anything planet related is King. They really loved seeing what their weight on other planets. Sad that the gift shop wasn't carrying any space food at the time, but it's easy to get free dried stuff online for them to try. She bought a few other small things in the gift shop and all in all it's a good time.

The line to get in is absurd, even having to wait when tickets were purchased in advance. There's so SOOOOOO MANY PEOPLE, they're just jamming people in any and every which way possible. Even without covid regulations and/or restrictions, this many people just should NOT be allowed in here! It's too many people to even be able to enjoy anything at all whatsoever. Carnegie science center, I'm EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS HORRENDOUSLY ATROCIOUS EXPERIENCE! The one and ONLY reason I am having the tiniest bit of a good time is because I'm with my 7 year old son and my boyfriend and anywhere with them is a good day in my book. Do NOT go here if you want to actually have something to do.
Sarah S — Google review
Hubby and I came here to do rock climbing and the rope obstacle. Kids taller than 48 inches can participate, but adults can still have fun doing them. It was a hot day (over 90 degrees) so it was nice to do these things indoors, and admission to the museum and parking were affordable. I definitely recommend coming here.

Playground
Highland Park Super Playground in Pittsburgh is a beloved and magical play area that supports imaginative play with its nooks and crannies. It's designed to let little kids climb without many places to fall off, providing great seating for parents to watch over the well-contained area. This retro playground, one of the largest in the city, is made almost entirely of wood and encourages kids to explore its castle-like structure with bridges, walls, and slides.
Very fun little playground in a great little park. Both my daughter and my dog had a great time, I can't ask for much more. Very friendly area. UPDATE: After a number of pandemic filled years and a new baby, I went back to this nice playground with my two kids- and it was still a great time. Their renovation is quite nice, and the kids had a wonderful time. And the mix of playgrounds and trails give multiple options to keep things interesting. Definitely recommend.
Marcus B — Google review
We LOVED this playground. We didn't even know that it existed. My almost 2 year old, needed some help in some places but she LOVED it. As for my 8 year old she's generally pretty bored with the average park set up...its usually just the same thing. But this one, gave her a wow factor. She loved it and had so much fun. Didn't want to leave. Highly recommend it for kids of all ages.
Brooke B — Google review
The City of Pittsburgh recently revamped the playground sitting in this area, adding new toys and soft ground for kiddos to play safely. The new one has sort of the same vibe from the previous one, with wood toys distributed in a big area. The only reason that I’m giving four stars is due to the fact that I think the previous playground instigated more exploration for the little ones while the updated version gives the full fun without any effort.

A beautiful place!!! Perfect for relaxing, exercise or enjoy time with the family! Having a long walk here makes you the happiest person on Earth! Fresh air surrounded by the beauty of nature and little cute squirrels running around...it's really amazing!

Fun park for kids ages 5 and under. Sadly my older two boys are a bit too big for this park now. Our youngest is still small enough to really fit in and not bowl over the other kids Enjoy the days when your little ones are little.

Super park is the perfect name for this place it’s huge and there is so much to do. My two children had plenty to do. There is also a covered area which has tables that looks like it can be rented as well as a water fountain. There are plenty of places to sit for the adults and the park is dog friendly

Fantastic revision and update of the old children’s playground. It is now called The Highland Park Super Playground. This summer there is all new play equipment that allows kids big and small to explore, imagine, pretend, and just have a great time playing. Benches and picnic tables are placed in shady spots for parents, as well as a covered area for Summer parties. Each time I go, there is a park full of kids of all ages laughing and enjoying themselves! My grandkids love going there.

It's a pretty amazing playground like few around with all kinds of clever twists and turns, all made of wood and nailed together yet somehow pretty safe. Adults will be able to navigate most spots as well. Worth visiting.

Romp n' Roll Pittsburgh East is not your typical children's gym. It offers a dynamic environment that integrates gym, art, and music classes for kids up to 5 years old, providing a trifecta of enjoyment. Visitors have praised the facility for its engaging activities such as slides, jungle gyms, and bubble play. The staff is friendly and accommodating, with special amenities like kid-sized toilets. Parents appreciate the cleanliness of the space and the considerate service provided by employees.
More than what I expected!! They do the work so you can enjoy your time. I had a toddler triplet birthday and always need extra hands and when having their 3rd party here it was pure excitement and joy for the family. The babies had the time of their lives with guided play and activities and to top it off had a personal touch with a bubble dance with their favorite song. My oldest daughter has some sensory needs and they helped by providing some noise canceling headphones. I was in a budget and wanted a private party and they were worth it and more. I will show up for classes with the kids soon cause they provide that as well. I thank you “B”, Courtney and Miss Katt. You were the best!!

We absolutely loved it here! The instructors are amazing and so kind. The activities were age appropriate and spot on for our daughter’s age group. If you’re thinking about signing your little one up I highly recommend. It is worth every penny. Can’t wait until our next class 🤍

Honest review! I’ve taken my son to 5 tumbling classes in the Pittsburgh area and this one impressed me! My 1.5-year-old attended Tumble Tunes class and it was a great experience! It was such a clean facility and I was met with a warm welcome and instructions on what to expect. We started at Rompys house and had circle time where we sang , clapped and established what the class was going to entail. The theme was Under the Sea and the skill focus was jumping. The kids explored instruments, danced to songs, had a bubble dance party and practiced rolling climbing and jumping all while in a safe, toddler-friendly space. The instructor was warm, enthusiastic, and great with the kids. She was attentive and polite, answering questions, cheering on the kids and guiding the class. My only feedback would be to tie the class a little more strongly to the advertised theme/skill so parents know what their little ones are working on. Overall, it’s such a fun spot for kids 3 months to 5 years to learn through play, music, and movement. Highly recommend for active toddlers!

We had the best experience at Romp n’ Roll Pittsburgh! The music class was so fun for my toddler — from gym play to instruments to a bubble ending, he was in heaven. The space is clean, bright, and so well-run, and the instructors are amazing with the kids. Highly recommend for any parents looking for fun, enriching activities! P.S. they have their own parking lot!!

I got to check this place out thanks to Run Relay, and I’m so glad it exists. This is a great spot to have for littles. They do a great job of keeping it clean. The instructors are patient and kind, and it’s wonderful that even babies can easily and safely explore and have fun.

We loved our time at Romp n' Roll. Highly recommend. There is parking just behind the building and you enter at the rear. I really loved that they don't require your child participate in the class' programming if they don't want to - this is definitely different than other gym classes we have attended in the Pittsburgh region and it's so wonderful, developmentally. I only wish I had visited with my older children! Very clean too.
Molly K — Google review
My 2yr old loved the class he took here. It was a lot of open play mixed with interactive portions. Scarfs, stacking cups, parachute, singing, and ended with a bubble party. The staff led the class and were very nice!

We stopped by for a trial class as we drove through Pittsburgh on our way to Ohio. Worth the stop! The kiddos (9 months and 19 months) had a blast and got out a ton of energy. Jordan was awesome with the kids. It was a smaller class (likely cause it’s Fourth of July weekend) but it was still amazing. Definitely recommend!

Primanti Brothers is a well-established chain originating from Pittsburgh, renowned for its sandwiches filled with coleslaw and french fries. The signature sandwich has gained widespread popularity both in Pittsburgh and beyond. Regardless of the sandwich you choose, it is guaranteed to be substantial, making it essential to have a hearty appetite. While the food may vary slightly in ingredients and portion size at different locations, the overall experience is described as enjoyable and delicious.
Man, this Primanti's outpost has terrible reviews! My experience this past week was a pleasant surprise. I didn't expect much since this is a kiosk inside Kennywood, but my sandwich was delicious. Soft bread, fresh tomato and meat (turkey), coleslaw that wasn't too wet, tasty fries . The employees were very friendly and helpful. My food came out quickly despite the fact that only two people were working at the kiosk. The menu is limited, but the options are a decent selection.
Stacy D — Google review
Was at Kennywood with my family and we went to go get food and watched as they served a security guard who was in front of us and literally as soon as we got up to the window they tell us that they're now closed. When I asked how the security guard got food they gave some excuse about him ordering earlier. They were more concerned with playing on their phones than serving food so with that being said we definitely won't be coming here anymore
Duane S — Google review
My husband and I ate at the one on 51. We get the pastrami sandwich which we do and are very good! The last two times the COLESLAW HAD NO TANGY ZIP TO IT!!! which makes the sandwich so good. What happened to the COLESLAW!!!! It’s very bland!! Please make it the way it was!! That’s what made their sandwiches so good along with the fries on it. I think we will go elseware to get a good Premanti sandwich that we like.
Janet S — Google review
The quality of your sandwiches are not up to standards. I expect a delicious primanti's brother's sandwich not a soggy, bloody bread sandwich with uncooked runny wet pastrami. I have had good pastrami sandwiches from Primanti's locations. BUT Kennywood location employees need some more training. MY Sandwich & fries were disgusting. I will not be back at this location. Your Chicken fingers also had no Flavor what so ever as well. I also will be spreading the word on service here. This was a waste of money and I was still hungry!... I'm tired of wasting money here. It just Not worth eating here. I'm at the point of starting to bring my own food in the park which is a SHAME! The Pnc ballpark Primanti's tastes way better. This is place is horrible!!!!!!! New Cooks Needed ASAP!
Carla B — Google review
Garbage employees. Complete trash service. Don't expect anything in a timely manner. However, do expect everybody behind you to get their food first. "Waiting on fries" for your order, but everybody else's has fries with them that ordered after you? What a joke.
John G — Google review
We got the bacon fries they were very small for the price. The bacon was imitation bacon bits. And the fries did not taste like primantis fries at all. I expected a lot better with primantis name on it.

Only ask for no slaw or tomato on a Pitts-Burgher was refused. Was 7pm on a Sunday not really busy. Not up to the chains reputation!

Stadium Tour: Incredibly well organized and worth the nominal fee charged for this privileged experience. Ran on time, used all 90 minutes promised, received so much history and learned about the NFL’s growth in technology too. Amazing to be in the locker rooms and being able to walk on the field; Steelers Nation’s hallowed ground. Sunday 10/12/2025 Steelers Acrisure stadium I took my daughter to her first NFL game! We are loyal Steelers fans! I’ve noticed a lot of settle changes in the remodels that they have done from the changeover from Heinz Field prior to 2022! It is still very family atmospheric and electrifying! I’m absolutely astonished how clean it was for the volume of people that were in attendance for this big rivalry home game against the Cleveland Browns! I want to think of everyone that was able to make this experience very special impossible for my daughter I recommend anybody even if you’re not an NFL fan or Pittsburgh Steelers fan to visit the new Acrisure stadium it is home to the Pittsburgh Panthers as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers and they also host tours in addition to other events as well, which you can check on their website! I rate the overall experience five stars, but I would give it the whole galaxy if I could! Absolute perfection!

Wasn't too impressed by the numerous daylight games I've been to here, but Sunday night games have a great atmosphere and energy that make them pretty fun. The food is definitely pricey, though that’s expected for an NFL stadium. The biggest downside has consistently been the lines, both for the restrooms and for food. It’s not unusual to wait 15 minutes just to use the restroom during the game, and I can’t imagine how bad it gets at halftime. I will say, the line to enter the stadium through security was significantly quicker than my last visit, which was a plus. Overall, it’s not a top 10 NFL stadium, but it’s serviceable.

Omfg what a huge experience we've had today and not to mention the Steelers pulled a win today against the Cleveland Browns!! Our seats was section 135 row B, behind the Steelers!! I will add one more photo we got a signature from #41 Wilson (was hoping for Watt and Rogers🥰 but no!). Very sweet man to sign it!! We are definitely coming back but next time sitting in front row!! The drinks for a can of beer was $16. I literally took sips that i should added a nipple cause it took me through the game!!😂 The prices for the tickets was steep but seeing my family's faces enjoying the game was so worth it!!🥰 as always LETS GO STEELERS!!!❤️💯🏈🎊

It was definitely worth the 2 mile walk from my hotel. I was greeted with a friendly hello as soon as I entered the front door and explained the museum cost. I initially wasn’t looking for any specific bike , but quickly realized this place had examples of Just about every bike I had owned growing up. The exact blue Schwinn mag scramble, the PK mini-ripper, red-line RL20 and such much more. I enjoyed all The BMX examples but also all the other bikes. Mountain bikes, road, cruisers they had an example of all.

The diner is famous for its specialty crêpe-hotcakes and American favorites.
Finding a good stack of pancakes when I’m traveling is the test of a great brunch culture and Pamela’s is the best. These somewhat Swedish style (a little thicker than crepe like) are inspiring. I tell everyone who’s visiting to go and it’s now tradition when I’m in town to make a visit. The potatoes are classic and the eggs are delicious. 10/10

I stopped by Pamela’s Diner while in Pittsburgh and really enjoyed it. The place has a cozy, old-school vibe, and the staff made me feel right at home. I tried their famous crepe-style pancakes, and they definitely lived up to the hype—light, crispy on the edges, and really tasty. The portions were generous without being over the top, and the coffee kept coming. It felt like a laid-back spot where you could easily spend a slow morning.

While visiting Pittsburgh with my dad and my husband, the three of us made our way to P&G’s Pamela’s diner for breakfast one morning. We managed to find a parking spot right out front. There was no wait for our table and the service was extremely fast and friendly. I decided to order the “morning after breakfast” while my dad ordered the corn beef hash, and my husband ordered the Pittsburgh hash. The portions are large and you definitely leave full. There really is nothing fancy about the food, but it’s just good old-fashioned comfort diner food. They have several locations, but this one was quite spacious and like I said, we were in and out in a flash.

These rooms, designed to reflect historical classrooms from the 18th century, are actively used for classes and offer visitors a chance to experience diverse cultural learning environments. The rooms themselves are considered works of art and provide an opportunity to celebrate the city's diverse communities.
I highly recommend taking a tour of these rooms. They are absolutely amazing. I visited on a Friday during spring break, so it wasn't too busy. If you are able to take a tour with Abby, definitely do! She gave a fantastic tour that was very informative and in-depth! We were also able to talk about visiting Bratislava and bryndzové halušky! Very friendly outgoing and easy to connect with the visitors, which makes a great tour. The Austrian, Greek, and Turkish rooms were my favourite. The stained glass in the German room was quite cool. All it takes is going there on weekends, stop by at the tour desk, pay $10/person and get a chip card that enters the rooms in exchange for your ID (obviously, don't forget to come back there when you're done). Then you can browse for 2 hours on the 1st and 3rd floors where the rooms are. You can switch the lights on when visiting the rooms but don't forget to turn them off when leaving, also make sure that the door closes behind you every time. Our favorite were the English, Ukranian, Swiss and Austrian rooms. You can also use the elevators and check the view from the 36th floor.

Highly recommended! It’s one of the most impressive places in Pittsburgh! Be advised that you need to book a guided tour in advance. You should fill out a reservation form online and in 30 min you’ll receive a confirmation letter by email. Payment will be done on arrival at the gift shop inside the Cathedral of Learning. Also it is better to visit the place on weekends when there are no students in the building. The Nationality Rooms are real classrooms at the same time, so you won’t be able to enter the room if there is a class in there. Also be advised that you won’t be able to see all 31 Nationality Rooms because the tour takes 1,5 hour only. When the tour starts your guide will ask you which rooms would you like to see, so check the university website and make your preferences before the visit. In my opinion, the most impressive ones are German, Austrian, Ukrainian, Syria-Lebanon and Turkish.
Julia G — Google review
I visited the rooms twice, in 2018 self guided and again in 2023 with a tour. I enjoyed it a lot more on my own than with the tour guide. If you have critical thinking skills, these rooms will be very disappointing. The tour guide Grace was kind but she shared inaccurate details about the Syria-Lebanon room (claiming that the there were verses of the Quran on the wall, although upon closer examination it seemed to me like Arabic text, not Quran. It was very hard to read and the tour does not allow you to enter the room, only look from behind a glass, so that made it difficult to check). You also notice similar patterns of Americanization in the rooms, e.g. the Turkish room had a huge photo of Ataturk, the leader of political secularism. And although the rooms represent countries and designs that predates 1787, the Isr**li “heritage” room was confusing because Isra*l illegally occupied Palestine in 1945.. so what exactly is the “heritage” you are designing if your country did not exist until 150+ years later? A Palestine room would be stunning 🥰 the best room was the Africa room although very sad that they grouped an ENTIRE continent in one room.. anyway, the nationality rooms are a solid reflection of the way americans see the world and what they prioritize and value, so if that does not resonate with you, feel free to skip the tour and enjoy the pictures or visit on your own!

Had a guided tour this after with Natalie. It was 5 stars in every regard - Natalie was thoroughly knowledgeable, engaging, enthusiastic and had a wonderful sense of humor. She obviously cared deeply about the history, meaning and the building itself. Thank you for the great experience!! We will be back !!

I've been coming here since I was a little kid and have loved seeing all the new ones added over the years. I went today to see the newest room and it was fabulous as always. Had a fantastic tour from Abby who was very knowledgeable and let the group choose which rooms we wanted to see. Some of the older rooms aren't quite as wheelchair accessible due to ADA not being a thing when they were built but Abby was very accommodating and shifted some things around so I could get in. Everyone should go see the rooms if they can.
Sarah K — Google review
This was truly an inspirational experience. Our guide Abby was so knowledgeable and interesting! There are 31 rooms. For our 90 min tour, we saw 12 of them. She asked if there were certain ones we wanted to see, and made her own recommendations as well. I'm not sure what happened with other reviewers, but we absolutely got to go into the rooms and even sit in the chairs. She also explained the committee process and their fundraising process - including their decision making on what goes in to the rooms. Previous reviewers missed out on that info - that's too bad. My favorites were the German room for their stained glass windows and the Swiss room for their purposefully "mistake-included" murals on the ceilings (the quill for the writing on the slate board was especially funny). We definitely want to come back so we can see more of the rooms and get the details from Abby that we might miss if we just did a self-guided tour. And, at only $10, it is an incredible bargain!

The diner is famous for its fancy pancakes and delectable crepes filled with sweet ricotta cheese and various toppings. With its retro atmosphere featuring a red-and-white checkerboard floor, counter seating, booths, and unique murals, this 71-year-old establishment offers classic diner fare that never disappoints.
The minute you walk in the staff are greeting you and offer you seating . Then the menu, the breakfast menu is filled with options ; I definitely would suggest any of the pancakes and the French toast paired with you favorite egg selection!! The Steak and Eggs were perfect , everything fresh and made to your liking!! Great atmosphere, great Chef’s and great staff!! 🥰 Plus, the fun history of various artists and actors have placards to view!! Such a great place in the Strip District..

First time ever eating here and loved the experience! We got the Steel City Breakfast of Champs, the Eggs Benedict, and the Apple Cinnamon Crepe (see image). NOTE: They only accept cash!! The food was served fast, the quality was fantastic, and for the amount of food we got, the price was extremely fair. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll love the Crepes, Waffles, and Pancakes they have. But if you don't, they have plenty of traditional breakfast foods as well! So if you've thought about coming here, do it! I highly recommend!

My first time here. Not a disappointment! Our waitress was fantastic even though she proclaimed to be "the meanest waitress ever"far from it. She was a joy and seemed to love what she does. All of the staff seemed to be happy there. Very refreshing. The food was fabulous! We will be back!

First time eating here and had a great experience. Our server was friendly and explained things thoroughly. She even gave us her honest opinion of foods and even offered to replace it if it was as bad as she mentioned. I ordered the country friend chicken that came with biscuits, gravy, home fries, and eggs. I appreciated her honesty when she said she thought the biscuits were horribly crumbly. She offered to give me something else if I thought they were bad once I ate them. Honestly, I've baked worse biscuits. 😂 These were a bit dry, but that's where the gravy helped. Rest of the food was good. Overall, I really enjoyed my food and experience.

Fantastic service and delicious diner food in a very nostalgic diner setting. We also tried the root beer float which was perfect. The cheesy eggs were very good. I thought the French toast was ok - it was thick slices of toast - cooked well just not something I would get again. Overall great experience.

Great diner, definitely a pgh institution! Ona late Sunday morning, Delucas was a lot easier to get into than Pamela’s, though the e wait time to get your food can get pretty crazy. The staff are super friendly, and once it did arrive, the pancakes are as big and yummy as expected! The kielbasa was also a stand out, with the coffee being the classic, good diner kind, always a solid breakfast here!

Station Square is a lively riverfront entertainment district in Pittsburgh's South Side, offering a 1.2-mile stretch of historic charm and modern attractions. This bustling complex features diverse restaurants, bars, and shops, as well as a musical fountain that adds to the vibrant atmosphere. With convenient access to public transportation, including the Duquesne and Monongahela Incline, Station Square serves as a gateway to nearby landmarks.
It’s one of Pittsburgh’s facelifts that has remarkably revitalized the riverbanks 😎😎😎😎😎. It’s the location of several restaurants and business offices. It is also the docking area of several riverboats. Google Maps has unfortunately mislabeled this place a shopping mall. It is a business complex that is very popular to locals and visitors. Close Views of Pittsburgh skyline are easy and pleasing to eye. There’s a viewing platform to enjoy the panorama There’s a dancing fountain that is draw for little kids😎😎😎. There’s also historical pieces from steel mills that used to occupy the place. A very good place to visit.

The Grand Concourse has been one of my favorite places to visit for over three decades. I haven't visited in two years, and there are many changes. The food was delicious, but the portions were smaller. The prices have gone up, they changed the bread service to mini sour doughs, and the Martha vineyard salad is no longer on the menu. I believe they are using a different coffee as well. The dessert options have also changed. The chocolate lava cake was a treat. The setting remains beautiful, but we were seated in an area that was abnormally loud. We were a small table of two placed behind a large, full round table. It made conversation difficult. I've never encountered this issue in the main dining area as seats there are spaced more reasonably. I still enjoy dining here, but I would probably choose a Monday - Thursday to enjoy the prix fixe, or dine later to be seated in the main dining area.

We just went to Station Square to kill some time. It was beautiful going on the incline and looking out over the city. There were some really good restaurants to choose from and plenty to see. We really enjoyed the fountain that played to the beat of music. My only complaint is that there really weren't any great gift shops around that area.

Whether you are taking in the sights from the Riverwalk or noshing on yummy food, this place is a great place to be. Fountains, historic pieces, skyscrapers, boats…the city has my heart! Be sure to schedule a trip!

Everyday Noodles is a unique Chinese eatery in Squirrel Hill that offers a captivating dining experience. The restaurant specializes in hand-pulled noodles, which are crafted behind a kitchen-viewing window, allowing diners to witness the fascinating process. The menu features a variety of Chinese and Asian cuisines, including soups, vegetarian and vegan dishes, as well as an array of delectable options such as pork soup dumplings and Dan Dan noodles.
5 Stars - An Exceptional Culinary Gem, Worth the Parking Hassle! My first visit to Every Day Noodles was wonderful. From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere set the perfect tone, a little upscale from your typical Asian restaurant without being stuffy. The food is the star: expertly prepared, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The expansive menu offers an impressive array of options, including many enticing soups, hearty entrées, delightful appetizers, and a large, creative variety of vegetarian dishes. Considering the generous portion sizes, the prices are remarkably reasonable. Service was impeccable. Our waitress was attentive, highly informative, and patiently answered our many questions about the various dishes, which was enhanced the experience. The restaurant itself is clean. The only caveat is parking; located in a bustling, busy part of town, securing a spot can be a chore. However, I wholeheartedly highly recommend Every Day Noodles, it is absolutely worth the walk!

For hand pulled noodles, head to Everyday Noodles. My family of three walked in around 1pm on a May Sunday and got a table right away in front of the staff making the noodles. Our server even brought out dough for our eight-year-old daughter to play with, which she loved. To eat, we ordered the bok chuy, dan dan noodles, pork soup dumplings, cucumbers, and hot and spicy noodles. Our daughter loved her soup dumplings. Everything else tasted good, but not as amazing as we expected. The flavors were muted in each dish. Despite that, it was still a fun lunch!
Austin G — Google review
Everyday noodles is a cool experience! They make the dumplings fresh all day, and you can watch them make everything through a glass window. The staff is incredibly friendly and the service is quick. I think this should be called "Everyday DUMPLINGS", as the dumplings are the star of this restaurant, not the noodles. Mind you, I think the noodles are very authentic, but myself and my wife's noodles were muted in flavor and texture. The noodle dishes left some to be desired. Will definitely come back to try the dumplings, but with so many noodle options in Squirrel Hill, I will likely not come back for the noodles.
Tim A — Google review
A bit disappointed trying it after seeing all the reviews. The oxtail noodle soup was a bit bland, I had clear soup noodles in Asia often so I'm not having mismatched expectation. I know it will be milder than most noodle soup, but when served with noodles the soup gotta have flavor to compliment the noodles you know. Noodles were ok, not the best hand pulled I've had, not that bouncy and slightly on soggy side. The pork and crab dumplings were better than noodles in comparison. But still, it's quite average for siu long bao. I would say you get what you pay for.

Another Asian restaurant makes tips mandatory. We ordered 3 dishes, soup dumplings, scallion noddle and wonton noodle. The soup dumplings and scallion noodle are fine, wonton noodle is tasteless, they didn’t use correct type of noodle for this dish. The waiter is friendly, helpful. The service is overall pretty fast. We paid the bill by cash, we planned to leave a tip but we forgot. However, the owner chased us to the entrance, dragged us back to our table requiring tips. This move is rude and inappropriate. If the guest didn’t leave a tip, you should think there is no tip because your service is not good enough. Also, why we should tip an owner anyways? The whole thing is ridiculous. We finally went back leaving a 20% tip because the server lady is really good and friendly, but I truly hope our tip went into her pocket, not the owner. Will not come back, food is mid, the owner is very rude, not sure why paying cash give us 10% off, or 20% off, seems way to much for credit card fee.

The soup pork dumpling (xiaolongbao) is great, it’s a pity that it did not come with ginger pickles but fresh ginger with water taste. Noodles are good but the turnip is not well cooked but tastes like salad raw. The dry noodle with bean curd (zajiangmian) is too dry not able to mix the source with noodles we used soup from soup noodle to add into it to make it mixed properly. Staff are nice and responded quickly

What I really loved about the North Shore Riverfront Park was that it was near the football stadium that the Pittsburgh Steelers play their home games at and it is friendly for walkers and runners as well.

So relaxing. The kids can run around in the grass (while avoiding the bird poo), you can have a picnic, sit and people watch on a bench, walk along the river, or jog. I like to take some snacks and music down there and walk along the river admiring the boats and one side of the Heinz stadium. I wish there was a bathroom. You must see if a restaurant will let you use theirs if you need to go, because otherwise there isn't one. Even during covid-19, there's quite a few people in the general area, but not necessarily walking along the river. Great night life for young adults.

Market Square, established in 1764, has been revitalized into a bustling hub in downtown Pittsburgh. It offers a variety of dining options such as upscale Italian and Creole cuisine, making it a popular spot for food enthusiasts. The square's lively atmosphere and regular events like the Farmers Market and Night Markets make it one of the most vibrant spots in Pittsburgh. Additionally, Market Square hosts Yoga sessions during the summer months.
Market square is great for events that are in the city. When an event isnt occuring, usually its just a empty lot with a few signs and empty stage. Notable events that occur in the square include: Picklesburg, Oktoberfest and the Christmas Village (not pictured). It can get jam packed during these events on the weekend nights so beware! Theres a few bars and good restaurants in this area and plenty of garage parking. I know Blvd of the Allies has parking on the street for free on weekdays after 6 pm, which is a short walk. Its a good spot in Pittsburgh thats for sure!

We went down for the Christmas village and skating rink. It was a wonderful day. There were so many artisans. We bought some gifts then had a very tasty lunch. ( I'm going to have to look up the name) if you want to give your spirit Boost please go and enjoy. I'm sure you feel more in the Christmas spirit. Enjoy.

Love the holiday shops. I was blown away at the reasonable prices at the Irish Design Center's fundraiser booth - they have 100% wool sweaters. Same with the 100% Peruvian Alpaca wool booth (the young girl who works there has the best personality for the job. She's just terrific). The 100% wool sweaters that are made in Nepal are high quality too and would cost 3 times as much in a store. Other warm weather apparel, ornaments and gifts are gorgeous and some are one of a kind. The German Christmas shop is gorgeous. Wow. Ice-skating is nearby and PPG lobby has a beautiful Christmas display from various countries. I highly recommend checking in out. I recommend going during the day and staying till it becomes dark. You'll feel the Holiday charm in the air as the Christmas trees start to sparkle.

The menu includes delectable treats such as madeleines, choux a la creme, tarts, quiches, and brie tarts. Visitors can also enjoy coffee and tea in the cheerful ambiance while indulging in sweet or savory delights.
I stopped by La Gourmandine with my wife this weekend after hearing great things from my family and friends. It definitely lived up to the hype. Perfectly flaky croissants and elegant pastries. I visited this restaurant at around 1pm on a Saturday and it wasnt very busy. I hope to come back soon.

Very cute bakery but I think I just need to come on a day when I know the prepared items are fresh. The croissants look to die for but I got the pistachio eclair and it was flavor wise amazing but it had the texture that it had been sitting in the fridge for a while. So I’ll definitely go back and make sure it’s fresh but besides that it was very good.

This is such a cute and delicious bakery! I went with a friend and liked it so much that I went back and snagged some pastries for my kids and husband an airplane ride away. I put them in a bag, and my daughter wanted more the second she finished her croissant. There isn't really a place to sit in the bakery, but the street it's on has plenty of tables and chairs. 10/10

What an excellent place to get delicious pastries. Especially French pastries. I thought the prices would probably be quite excessive, but this isn’t the case. Quite reasonable actually. I got to try out their clafoutis, abricotine (apricot pastry), and chouquettes. All 3 were very good. The clafoutis was wasn’t exactly like a pudding that I imagined. It was a lot more firm. Still, it was quite tasty and not too eggy. I loved the touch of cherries in there. Good portion for the price too. The chouquettes were a very lovely little pastry. Nice little snack and very cheap, but they are also very small. Plenty of sugar beads surrounding the patty, and the inside is a great firm texture as well. But buttery inside. The apricot was my favorite. It was somewhat like a danish with an apricot in the middle, but also somewhat like an apricot croissant. You have to try one of these out. Not too sweet. Goes very well with morning coffee. Buttery pastry. Nice! All in all, a very nice bakery in Lawrenceville. I’d love to come back and try out more items, but everything I had was great!

Great service, excellent pastries and sandwiches! Really can’t go wrong with anything here, but would definitely recommend the Montagnard sandwich if you’re a prosciutto lover, and the almond croissants!

The moment I walked in, the smell of fresh pastries pulled me right in. They offered samples of their almond chocolate croissant (amazing) and the woman at the counter was so welcoming, answering all my questions with a smile. She recommended their macarons — and I’ve never liked macarons before — but theirs completely changed my mind. Light, flavorful, and hands down the best macaron I’ve ever had. I also took home a ham & cheese quiche slice that made the perfect breakfast the next morning. Between the friendly service, delicious pastries, and cozy atmosphere, this place is a must-visit in Lawrenceville.

Visitors can also rent bikes to independently cruise through downtown districts, along riversides, and across parks in this bike-friendly city with a vibrant cycling community.
I highly recommend 'Bike the Burgh' Tours'. It was easy to book and the price is more than fair. The tour was scenic and beautiful. I have lived close to Pittsburgh my whole life and we came across places I have never seen before today and I learned so many interesting facts about our beautiful city. Our tour guide Daniel was absolutely fantastic. Incredibly knowledgeable, had a great attitude the whole time, attentive the entire tour, and patient with my daughter that needed extra time because she was young, and had never biked in the busy Pittsburgh area. Bikes and helmets are available to rent. The convenience of renting their equipment was perfect and absolutely worth the price. Can't wait to come back to attend one of the other tours! Thank you for a great experience!

We had an amazing time on the Bike the Burgh tour today with Sara! She was an awesome guide — knowledgeable, passionate, and clearly loves what she does. Her enthusiasm really made the experience stand out, and her beautiful singing voice was an unexpected treat! We learned so much about Pittsburgh’s history, and Sara came fully prepared with props and fun facts that made everything more engaging. Even with a bit of rain toward the end, it was still a fantastic day. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city or even locals wanting to see Pittsburgh from a new perspective.

We had a fabulous time on our bike ride on the Great Allegheny Passage! We rented bikes from Bike the Burgh Tours and the bikes were our style, well maintained and included all the bike tools needed (just-in-case) for our self-guided tour. On the day of our departure, the staff at Bike the Burgh narrated the cityscape as he escorted us to the beginning of GAP trail. This was an extra bonus! Sarah from Bike the Burgh was easy to work with and responsive to our emails and questions. The shuttle that retrieved the rental bikes in Cumberland, MD and returned them to Bike the Burgh was smooth, too. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Bike the Burgh is hands down one of the best ways to explore the city! From start to finish, the tour was fun, informative, and incredibly well-organized. Our guide Sarah Scherk was not only super knowledgeable about Pittsburgh’s history, architecture, and quirky facts, but also had a great sense of humor that made the ride even more enjoyable. The pace was relaxed and chill. We cruised through neighborhoods, hidden gems and scenic riverfronts – basically all the spots that make you say “Wait, this is Pittsburgh?!” Whether you're a visitor or a lifelong yinzer who still gets lost Downtown (no judgment), this tour is 100% worth it. We can't recommend this tour enough. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for Pittsburgh—and probably a few cool stories to share! Peg and Elise Peony Women’s Bike Tours

Sarah was an amazing guide with a vast knowledge of the areas history, and it was apparent how much she enjoyed sharing that info. Even with all the hills/mountains, the ride was very manageable. It was a thrill to cross some of the iconic bridges that Pittsburgh is known for.

Great tour! I went solo and was grouped with 6 other people, some who were also solo. I thought 3 hours would drag but it actually went fast. There was beautiful weather which made this extra enjoyable. So many people warned me, Pittsburgh is a hilly city, why are you doing a bike tour?! The company and the reviews don't lie- the route is flat and easy! There was one small section of switchback inclines to get up to a bridge, that was the hardest part and still no big deal. You can expect stop and go riding, so it's just a little bit at a time. The guide Doug was very knowledgeable and he admits he likes to talk too much. I'd prefer a little less talking and more riding but I still very much enjoyed the tour. The bikes are prepped with a water bottle holder and small leather pouch for personal items. Bikes were comfortable and in good condition. Got a cute little Heinz pickle pin for a souvenir.

After being referred to Bike the Burgh by the folks at Noble Invention, I was immediately contacted by Sarah at Bike the Burgh who collected the pertinent information for the rental. I received multiple confirmations and when I arrived on the morning of September 28, after a quick fitting, the bike was ready to go. At the end of the ride, our shuttle service successfully delivered the bike back to Bike the Burgh on my behalf. Well done and thank you Sarah!

Quaker Steak & Lube is a casual chain restaurant with an automotive theme that offers a menu featuring American favorites, with a focus on their famous chicken wings and a variety of spicy sauces. The restaurant is known for its themed decor, including race cars and bikes hanging from the ceiling, making it an enjoyable spot for families. Located in various places including PPG Paints Arena and PNC Park, Quaker Steak & Lube has gained recognition for having some of the best wings in Pittsburgh.
I dk why ppl are complaining get the wings! That's the whole point u get their food is for the wings

This review is for the milkshake only! My son and I stopped for lunch and were both craving a shake. We both ordered the cookies and crème version. First, it’s not a real shake. Mostly ground ice instead of an ice cream base. Second, it was Really hard to get through the tiny straw! We gave up less than halfway through and headed to Coldstone for REAL milkshakes. PS. The food was decent.

At the Pirates game. The worst onion rings and worst boneless wings I've ever had. Both egregiously over cooked. And they were tattooing ketchup. Really? Get prepared. Don't blame COVID-19 on the lack of ketchup. This is where Heinz started!
Bill K — Google review
Man have the times changed! Quaker Steak used to be the hudagra of wing joints. The service was slow, the waitress seemed high. Almost every table had food napkins and dirt under them that looked to have been there all day. The wings were less than average and the sauces tasted horrible. It breaks my heart because this was always my go to for the best wings around, but i do not believe i will ever return. R.I.P. Quaker Steak!

If I owned this location. I would fire every single employee and just start over. We waited from half time until 3 minutes into the 4th quarter for wings. We lost an entire quarter of the game because the entire staff is horrible. Beyond horrible. Just standing there doing nothing at all. Oh occasionally playing on their cell phones as people just kept leaving out of frustration. I just can't believe they are going to collect a paycheck. Games aren't cheap and to lose over a 1/4th of it to waiting for wings by horrible employees is outrageous. I will never again eat at a Quaker Steak and lube as long as I live.

My son and I ordered pastrami and corned beef sandwiches in the club section and it was awful all the way from the service to the quality of the food. The people that waited on us were not friendly and the food looked like something they would feed people in prison and it was pricey. The pastrami and corn beef were soggy and scooped out of a metal bucket right in front of my very eyes. This was an awful experience, not to mention it was 35 dollars for these soggy, sloppy, tasteless disgusting sandwiches.

Schenley Park is a sprawling urban oasis covering 456 acres of land in the Oakland area. It features a variety of attractions including walking trails, sports facilities, botanical gardens, and a golf course. The park boasts picturesque oak tree groves, winding pathways, and elegant memorials. Visitors can enjoy activities such as disc golf, picnicking, and ice skating at the rink.
Beautiful surroundings in Oakland area of Pitt University. Green areas to spread yourself out in the sunshine. Phipps terrarium and fantastic fountain.
YEPPerino!! — Google review
Amazing park, everything is within walkable distance even though it looks like it's a huge park but once you're there, you would love to explore. Didn't find much elevation either. Definitely a must visit. Parking - park your car either across on Schenley Drive opposite Phipps Botanical garden (better location) OR across Anderson Playground. Some of the trails are not that great, so bring your most comfy shoes if going to trails. There are lots of benches to sit on near the fountain as well as near Phipps. There is an American restaurant called "The Porch" as well as an Ice cream/milkshake place and Omar's halal grill near the Catherdral of Learning.
Sagar — Google review
Great hiking spot in the middle of the city! Schenley Park has beautiful trails, peaceful nature, and nice views. Easy to access from Pitt, and perfect for a walk, jog, or just relaxing outdoors. Highly recommend if you’re in Pittsburgh!
Shalani J — Google review
Very nicely wooded! I came through for a trail run and was amazed by the intricacy of the routes within this entire park. Great for a scenic walk or a long run. There's a nice viewpoint on a large hill near the observatory and university campus!

Excellent staff, variety of plants, lots of activities for kids. Lovely. Just go when it's cooler weather!

New things to see. If you never been there it can be a little confusing. But lots of trails and nature to see...

Nestled in the Elliott neighborhood, West End Overlook Park is a delightful escape that offers stunning vistas of downtown Pittsburgh and the Ohio River. This hidden gem is perfect for those seeking a quieter experience away from the bustling city center. With its convenient access by car or public transport, visitors can enjoy amenities like benches, pavilions, and a playground while soaking in breathtaking views.
Hey, we are Vicky 🇵🇪 and Malte 🇩🇪 from the travel blog "Traveling Is Our Passion." For a full one-day Pittsburgh guide, check out our blog. West End Overlook Park is one of those spots you don’t want to miss when visiting Pittsburgh! It’s a peaceful park with stunning views of the city skyline, the Ohio River, and even the famous Mount Washington. You can take a short walk or just relax and enjoy the amazing scenery. It's a perfect spot for photos, especially at sunset. The park is not very crowded, so it’s a great place to escape the busy city life for a little while. There’s a small parking area nearby, making it easy to get to. If you’re looking for a quiet, beautiful place to enjoy Pittsburgh from a different perspective, this is the perfect spot!

A hidden gem, never crowded, always chill. Lesser known than Grandview on Mt Washington, but my preferred view of downtown Pittsburgh and the rivers.
George W — Google review
Spectacular views and a clean facility overall! Parking is a little scarce, but otherwise a great place to see the entire city and suburbs!!
Michael H — Google review
I walk up here a bunch every winter. I swear walking is only comfy when its under 32 midday.
THICC 9 — Google review
Beautiful park with a perfect view of the city & a great location to watch the 4th fireworks display. Especially if you don't like loud booms that come with them.
Cara L — Google review
The scenery here is really nice, but every time I come in the afternoon or evening, it’s such a hassle to find a parking spot.
Lucas S — Google review
This park has great views of downtown Pittsburgh and the rivers, bridges and buildings it has. It’s a little hard to find and the streets are very steep leading up to it, but it’s worth a visit. My only wish is that the foliage was cut down a bit more so the views are even better, but they’re still great regardless.
Christopher J — Google review
What a view. Also a place to walk around or just rest and take in the scenery.
