Museums
Situated in Langan Park, the Mobile Museum of Art is a prominent cultural institution boasting an extensive permanent collection of over 10,000 artworks from various periods. The museum also hosts rotating regional and traveling exhibitions. Its mission is to educate and inspire through visual art. In addition to its artistic offerings, Mobile features historic architecture downtown, including the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and charming Victorian homes.
What a pleasant surprise for a city like Mobile, AL! I wasn't expecting to see all the cool pieces available here. Everyone was so friendly, and I even got to hear about the history behind some of the pieces. I always wonder about the generous donors and how they may have come across certain things. There's a horse figure from before Jesus walked the Earth in the Asian exhibit that was originally a gift to an actor who had no idea what it was, so he gave it to a friend, and that friend donated it to this fine museum so that others could enjoy its beauty. There are pieces from Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso; right here in Mobile! There are even pieces from Bronze Age China! How incredible is that? For those who enjoy physical keepsakes, the gift shop is full of art that you can buy from pottery, paintings, woven objects, and jewelry. The view of the surrounding park from inside the museum is so nice on a sunny day. An oasis of tranquility and beauty tucked away in MobTown.
Ajax G — Google review
They’ve got parking space for days, so you won’t be circling around sweating bullets. The ticket prices ain’t too bad either, especially if you’re military—props to them for recognizing our service folks. $12 for a regular adult ticket, $8 if you’re military. Not gonna break the bank, but it does set the tone: you’re expecting to get your money’s worth. Now, the art itself? Some of it’s downright stunning, and I’m not saying that lightly. Local artists are repped well, which is always a plus. And the kids’ section? Y’all, it’s like they sprinkled magic in there. If you’ve got little ones, they’ll be in heaven—touching, building, playing, learning. Heck, even grown folks might find themselves drawn to the giant Legos and couches. I saw folks who didn’t have kids hanging out there like they were 10 again. So yeah, points for creativity and making art fun. But here’s the thing: the museum as a whole feels like it’s trying to be a big deal, but it ain’t quite there yet. Sure, it’s got three floors, and some of that art has history going back a thousand years, but the vibe is inconsistent. Some collections look like they belong in a world-class museum, while others feel more like a college art class final project. And don’t even get me started on the layout—it’s confusing. Why do I gotta go to the gift shop just to grab a ticket? Feels like they’re funneling you straight into a money trap before you even get to the good stuff. For a city like Mobile, with under 200,000 people, the museum’s got potential. It’s a solid attempt at being a cultural hub, but it falls short in execution. They’ve got the bones for something great—local talent, interactive exhibits, and a space that’s peaceful in parts. But they need to tighten up the experience. Be consistent, clean the place up, and for goodness’ sake, keep your doors open as advertised.

This has been one of our favorite art museums so far. The fantastical forest was our favorite to see.

I visited the Mobile Museum of Art recently along with my friend. The place is quite easy to locate and has ample space for parking. We visited on the weekend but still we didn't find any rush. They do have military based tickets as my friend used that facility as she is part of the services. I bought a regular adult ticket. Regular adult tickets are 12 dollars and military personnel tickets are 8 dollars. We enjoyed our time here a lot. A few of the art pieces were really amazing and admirable. A lot of local artists paintings are for sale as well. My favorite part of the museum is the Kid's section. If you guys are visiting with kids this place is a perfect choice. Lots of creative stuff to do for kids. My friend also loved that section a lot. The people in the museum were also really helpful in explaining to us a few of the paintings and the artists behind it. Special shout out to Donna. She really ensured we understood the paintings that were there in her section. Overall we had a really artistic time here and I would recommend this museum to seekers of all sorts.
Utkarsh G — Google review
My first time visiting. Everyone was very helpful and kind. They have a variety of exhibits from Surrealisim to Chinese pottery and European Realism and Modern Abstract, as well as an area to let kids get out some energy and play, touch and create as well as 2 or 3 other areas for children to experience so I would definitely say it is very kid friendly. There is also a garden and park area outside with a boardwalk and trail. I saw several people using the park to exercise and enjoy being out in the wonderful weather we had today. The museum itself is also beautiful in the rotunda area where you walk in and has a gift shop where you can buy art that's made by a lot of the local artists as well.

We had a great time! Highly recommend this museum. Beautiful art, some pieces were 1,000 years old. A fun area for kids. Affordable ticket prices. Friendly staff.

Great family fun day! We enjoyed all of the exhibits very much!

If you’re in or traveling through the Mobile, AL area and looking for a thoughtful, well‑curated art experience, the Mobile Museum of Art is a strong choice. It’s especially appealing if you appreciate art + outdoor space + regional culture all in one stop. Whether you pop in for an hour or spend a leisurely afternoon, you’re likely to come away having seen something fresh and meaningful.

The USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. This park is home to the iconic USS Alabama, a WWII-era battleship that played a crucial role in the war and earned the nickname "Heroine of the Pacific." Visitors can explore this historic vessel on a self-guided tour and also check out the USS Drum, the oldest U.S. submarine on public display. The park also features an Aircraft Pavilion showcasing over 28 historic planes from various wars.
This was a great place to come and visit. It was a beautiful day. Got very warm on the decks of the Battleship, but they had places that you could get cool. Museum was very informative and had things from all service branches. The Submarine was very cool. I don't like tight and small spaces, but I was able to handle it. Gift shop was nice. Had a lot of different things for everyone. The burgers at the restaurant was delicious! Would highly recommend this place for families.
Cindy S — Google review
Amazing experience! Both the Sub and Battle Ship are worth stopping to see. The self guided tour is easy to follow and takes you on every part of the ship. The museum did a great job explaining the spaces and having enough room for multiple people to be in the same room. We went in mid September and it wasn’t too crowded. +100 points for free active military admission.
Tomas R — Google review
We stopped by this memorial and museum in hopes of killing an hour or so before a flight, and we were pleasantly surprised with how interesting everything was. When we visited, we were able to go into the decommissioned sub as well as go into the battleship. The restorations are beautiful, and you quite literally are able to see almost everything in the battleship in submarine. It was worth the price, but if you’re wanting to learn a lot of history about World War II, you may be disappointed. However, if you want to see military vehicles up close, you will not be disappointed. It was definitely a unique spot and worth a visit if you were in the area.
Stan C — Google review
This is definitely a must stop to visit!!! I'm always so touched anytime I visit military museums and this one was wonderfully set up... from the Korean War Memorial do the museum in the battleship ... you could spend hours here just learning about our military history!! It was a weekday so it wasn't that crowded and there was plenty of parking available. There's a wonderful little gift shop inside and a cafe!
L S — Google review
This was one of the most interesting trips I’ve taken my sons on. From the depths of the ocean to way above the clouds, we explored every inch and we thoroughly enjoyed it all. You will be amazed at all the different things they have to look at. We will be back.
Latara M — Google review
$15 admission plus an additional $5 to park gets you lot to see and experience via sea surface warfare, aviation and underwater warfare with tours of the USS Alabama, a WW2 battleship, the USS Drum (submarine) and various aircraft and vehicles inside and outside an air-conditioned hanger, a great place for kids (supervised) and adults alike, expect to spend 3 to 4 hours minimum to look around, time well spent with a gift shop and cafe on premises to cap your visit. Highly recommended!
AJ M — Google review
Interesting visit exploring the ship and the submarine. You can explore so many parts throughout both taking stairs up and down throughout the decks. There is some air conditioning on the inside making it more comfortable on hot days. I’d suggest going during the fall or spring. Also several planes were on display in the hangar. Even avoiding much of the interiors (not a fan of tight spaces) there was plenty in the open air to see. The staff was super inviting! Be prepared to spend $100 for a family of 4 for tickets and a few extras.
Sheri C — Google review
The ship was a sight to see and walk. I'd never experienced anything like it before in my life. I got an appreciation for how life could have been on such a vessel. I'd recommend this to anyone. Only wish we had been able to see the bridge up close and personal, but sadly this was not open to the public. Bring your walking and climbing legs.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant history of Mardi Gras at the Mobile Carnival Museum, located in a historic home. Whether you're in town for the festival or not, this museum offers a fascinating look into one of the oldest annual celebrations in the U.S. Explore gallery rooms showcasing colorful parades, intricate costumes, and historical photographs dating back to the 19th century.
This place was amazing. They have a must watch video that explains the beginning of Mardi Gras. The exhibits are just wow! There is one wall that gives the timeline of when things started, which is a must-read. The staff amazing and very knowledgeable.
Traveling N — Google review
Informative place! Lots of decorations, lots of history, all very interesting. Started off with a video that is very dated but interesting. We then started off with a tour guide but he was a little too long-winded for the kids so we headed off to explore on our own. Still learned tons! Never know that Madi gras stared in Mobile in the US and they have “royalty” still to this day! Loved all the costumes they had to display. Overall, the price wasn’t too bad for what you got to see and learn. Not at all busy, likely due to the time of year.
Andy E — Google review
This museum recently reopened last week after renovations. There are ticket discounts depending on your affiliation: military, AAA, student, etc. You enter the museum through the gift shop. It’s a cool, educational experience that starts with a short video in the theater section. After that short film about carnival is a self-guided walk-through to learn about carnival’s history and see some exquisite costume replicas. You can learn about each exhibit through the QR code menu. Card and cash are accepted here. There’s wifi available there as well. I visited last Saturday while I was in Mobile. It’s a chill, quiet and nice spot to visit. Lots of colorful picture-worthy rooms.
Jazmin H — Google review
An interesting museum displaying the history of Carnival and Mardi Gras. Incredible costumes on display. It is a self guided tour thru an app on your phone accessible by wifi.
Jackie M — Google review
This is a must visit in Mobile. The displays are beautiful, and the ability to phone in to learn more about each area was wonderful. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. We spoke to a gentleman who had been participating in the festivities for 52 years. You can also take photos on an amazing float!
Haeden W — Google review
Really underrated. Fab showcases. Save $ with AAA card. Don't miss. Go for lunch at Blind Mule up the street and get red beans and rice
Chris E — Google review
The museum is mid amusing, the pics I post are pretty much a summary of what you will see. The tour guide, however, is horrendously rude. He was extremely rude to tourist with limited time wanting the self guided tour. We won't be back or recommend. I give it 3 out of 10.
Rebekka N — Google review
We arrived shortly after 3, really not enough time to see everything before closing, so plan to come back another time to see more! But we had fun while there. And the lady working the gift shoppe was a lot of fun. It’s really a must do if you love Mardi Gras. Allow yourself a couple hours so you can take your time and peruse.

The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico, also known as GulfQuest, is a unique educational museum located in downtown Mobile, Alabama. It offers over 90 interactive exhibits that cover various aspects of the maritime heritage of the Gulf of Mexico. Visitors can engage in hands-on activities such as navigating ships, loading cargo, and experiencing simulations related to marine life and coastal environments. The museum also features theaters where guests can watch films on topics like WWII history and port navigation.
We were just starting to explore new and interesting places, and stopping into the National Maritime Museum was the perfect choice! This place was absolutely wonderful—spotlessly clean, filled with fascinating exhibits, and offering some really beautiful views. What truly made the experience stand out were the volunteers. They were so friendly and welcoming, taking the time to share insights and stories that made everything even more engaging. It’s totally worth the stop! We loved every second of our visit and highly recommend it to anyone in the area.
Benita C — Google review
My friend and I went on a weekday. It was the middle of the day on June day. There is a cover charge but it's not too bad. There are elevators and ramps for handicapped or people with difficulty climbing stairs. There are 4 floors with many displays and hands on exhibits. I'm 68 years and I enjoyed the museum very much. There is a lot to see for old and young alike. I may go back but probably on a day that's cooler. It got warmer as we went higher but it was still bearable on a hot summer day. If you are looking for a family oriented museum this would be the pace to go. Any complaints I have are minor. It is on the waterfront and hard to get to. There is a restaurant on the bottom floor that is little high on the prices. The admission prices for a family can be high depending on how many are with the family. There were a few exhibits not working or under construction
Norman H — Google review
Very cool museum. My 4 kids, who range from 1 to 7, had a lot of fun. I wish I would have known they offered a military discount.
Kelley G — Google review
Beautifully maintained, clean, informative and air conditioned. Wheelchair accessible. They even have a limited number of wheelchairs available for use at no fee! Fun interactive displays and special children exhibits. Very pleasant 2 hours and the staff was great!
Mike R — Google review
Probably more of a kids museum but still some interesting things to see as an adult. Would recommend the nearby USS Alabama for an adult experience between the two, but if you have time this one is worth checking out as well. Just seems more like a kids thing.
The F — Google review
The GulfQuest National Maritime Museum was WAY more than we expected! We went on their free Family Day. This museum had 5 levels. There is an elevator, stairs, or a ramp to use for those who various needs. Their hands-on exhibits keep our kids busy. There were short movies to watch as well. Highly recommended if you're in the Mobile (AL) area!
Brandi S — Google review
Great staff. Go above and beyond. Very cool and informative place. Could have stayed all day. Good for older kids and tweens. Lots of interactive kiosks. Great information on how our maritime systems work. Great information about E.O. WILSON and our eco systems. Plant and animals that inhabit Alabama. Very informative and educational. Very hands on and educational and FUN. elevator and lots of space. Children's play and rest area. Even have costumes so they can dress up. Staff willing to help. Very nice. Just a wonderful place. I love this place. Would go every day I could. Wonderful awesome place. Bathroom clean. All well kept. Bathroom is all done in nautical bath tiles. Adorable. We bought a two day multi pass battleship and this was included but both have a lot to see and we spent almost four hours at each and still didn't get to see it all. I love the multi pass saves some cash.
Rob — Google review
This is such a wonderful place to go. It has interactive activities for the kids. Beautiful views and the event I went to was very informative. I would love to see them bring something in on dinosaurs, sharks, or even the holocaust. There is a lot of space that could be utilized and make so much more fun. Just call ahead and make sure there are no field trips attending that day. That is the only thing that makes it hard for individuals to enjoy. It is a wonderful opportunity for the kiddos from school, and they need to see it, but individuals may have a harder time getting to see anything when the schools are there.

Mobile Botanical Gardens, established in 1974, is located on Museum Drive in the Spring Hill community. It offers a delightful mix of natural habitats and cultivated areas for both locals and tourists to explore. Visitors can wander through diverse flora including the Rhododendron Garden with over 1,000 evergreen and native azaleas, the Camellia Wintergarden showcasing more than 500 camellias, and a meticulously maintained Japanese Maple Garden.
This is a tranquil and relaxing garden that helps a person connect with nature. There is a wide variety of flora and subspecies surrounded by the sights and sounds of fauna (birds and insects) on 100 acres. The Koi pond is my favorite!

So many things to do and see! Beautiful plants and grounds. Now I have so many ideas for my garden at home - especially the herb garden with different uses (medicinal, fragrance, culinary) in different containers, I loved that. The staff are very friendly and treat you like family. Dogs allowed too!

We had a great time! Unfortunately most of the floral plants we're not in bloom because of the season. My favorite part was the koi fish bridge.

I attended a presentation from a visiting author and gardener and found it delightful and informative. Their classroom is comfortable and the registration includes the ability to walk in. This also came with a nice lunch in a gift shop that is infused with beauty and charming things to purchase. The garden is wonderful to walk anytime of the year and if you enjoy gardening, you will want to attend their plants sales. The staff attending those sales are very helpful. A wonderful experience!

We had a very pleasant visit. We went on a spring day and enjoyed a walk around. We learned a lot about different types of Japanese Maple trees. Aromi Azalea Garden was beautiful. The garden is not very big, so you can spend a couple hours or whole day depending on what you want. There is no restaurant there. I believe you might be able to order lunch a couple days a week but other than that you’re on your own. They have a cute gift shop with art work from local artists. The worker we interacted with was very pleasant. Great place to visit with children. Dogs are allowed on a leash.

We stopped by to see the waterfall and the koi fish and well I don't know where to begin,, you enter a gate then you have to go to the souvenir / admission shop pay to enter the garden / woods. I was not impressed because there's really nothing to see but woods, trees, and forestry!!!! I understand it suppose to be a Garden, but it's really nothing to see, NO BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS,NO BEAUTIFUL SCENERY just overgrown bushes, trees, and trails!!! You can get off track easily cause there is NO signs to point you in the right direction ,,,,BUT the biggest disappointment was the Waterfall,it was so small but the koi fish in the small little pond was beautiful, well my final review is it should be FREE! Or maybe we went the wrong time of year April 2024
Marie B — Google review
As members of the Corpus Christi Botanical Garden we have reciprocal privileges at many other botanical Gardens nationally. Some could argue a five-star rating would be generous but a garden that does many things should perhaps be very well regarded as a local treasure. We enjoyed our 1 hour morning visit on a very warm day to tour the numerous attractions of this well-maintained facility. Individually taken Mini of Gardens settings may not be up to a five-star rating. Taken on the hole ambitious effort on so many topics it was very enjoyable. I may have given them an extra star for the Shaded parking.

Museums
The History Museum of Mobile is housed in a 19th-century Italianate city hall and marketplace, originally built in 1855. It boasts over 117,000 artifacts from the city and surrounding region, offering insights into Mobile's history from its Indigenous beginnings through periods of slavery and civil rights. The museum features permanent exhibits such as an original Confederate ship cannon, a gallery showcasing Southern luxury items, and detailed miniature houses.
Lovely building, awesome exhibits and very interesting stories. Loved the carriages, the canoe, the Mardi Gras displays, the history of industry in Mobile, and the more modern additions! The building itself is historic and still holds city meetings to be considered one of the oldest city halls still in operation. The statues and the photos of Mobile show the early times of Mobile and its development, and even showcases some remnants from prehistoric time that have been found nearby.

We have come to this museum several times now for photoshoots and love it! The checkered floor to the staircase are stunning. Staff is also super sweet and great with communication. If you're wanting photos done and want a different vibe, highly recommend coming here!

This is now one of my favorite museums and I would love to go back to visit soon. I was in town nearby for work and a solo vacation. I visited on a weekday at non-peak hours, so it was quiet which made for an enjoyable exploration. I learned quite about about Mobile and had no idea of its history or significance regarding the formation of the country. I was so pleasantly surprised to see an area dedicated to the Clotilda ship because it led to Africatown in Mobile. I think that section needs to be expanded into a larger exhibit for guests to learn more about its significance. I appreciate that some exhibits are interactive and engaging to help visitors connect with the history. The sound effects and music were a nice touch to transport you back in time for the horse carriage exhibit. I wish the gift shop were bigger with a larger selection, given the museum's size and it being connected to the welcome center. I'd love to support by purchasing merchandise unique to the area and reflective of a guest's experience of touring the museum. The exterior of the museum has a striking design and it's connected to the Mobile Welcome Center, which is perfect for those visiting or new the the city. You can go right next door and learn about the city's history. It's also the meetup for a trolley tour of the city. Unfortunately, on the day I visited, the museum was closing 30 minutes early in preparation for a law enforcement parade happening downtown. So I missed seeing some exhibits. I realize, I need a full day to enjoy this two-level museum because I spent an hour on just half of one floor immersed in the exhibits. I recommend about 3-4 hours to fully explore all the exhibits. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this museum. I'm glad I got to explore some of it during my trip. Learn something new and see Mobile in a new light.

We bought a 1 day Mobile multiattraction pass and went here with plans to see just the fort. The museum was excellent. I wish we had planned more time here. The fort is included in the ticket. The museum is very well arranged. Easy to understand complex historical perspectives. The ship building area was very, very well done.

This museum was pretty cool. My 4 boys enjoyed their time there. They have a discovery room on the second floor. Our admission was free because we are military. They also offer free admission to people with EBT benefits.

Lots of interesting things to see here. The miniature houses were amazing. Also the history of mobile from early settlements through the fights between the British, Spanish, French, and Indians for the territory was interesting. They even threw in some Mardi Gras!

We visited this museum on a rainy Sunday. It was a pleasurable visit, and we learned quite a bit about Mobile's history, including its role as the first permanent settlement on the Gulf Coast, and the first to celebrate Mardi Gras.

Beautiful little Park, love all the trees and fountain. Situated in the middle of downtown. It's a nice little reprieve from the city life. Especially at night time when is skyline is lit up. The squirrels are a nice catch. But it's the trees that make it feel like a great city park.

Beautiful church. Very big. Beautiful music. Love the gift shop here. Bought my bracelet here a few years ago. Wearing it while visiting here. The Richards-DAR House Museum in Mobile, Alabama is a prime example of Italianate style architecture from the 19th century. Built in 1860 by steamboat Captain Charles G. Nice place and interesting things to see. The history of the building has nothing to do with the DAR but still a nice place to check out if you’re inclined. They offer tea and cookies at the end of your tour. My pics give an idea of the location relative to the downtown area.

Oakleigh House Museum, located in Mobile, Alabama, is a preserved cotton broker's mansion that showcases the Southern interpretation of the Greek Revival style. Built in 1833 by James W. Roper, this historic house has been witness to significant historical periods and events such as the cotton trade, slavery, Civil War, Emancipation, railroad expansion and epidemics.
If you are big into architecture or early American history, this is must stop. This gem has been preserved and decorated with time appropriately decor. Many families lived there, and there is lots of history. The grounds are packed with huge live oak trees, many of them over 200 years old. Our tour guide was great, very knowledgeable, and could tell she has a passion for what she does. The tour is priced well and was roughly an hour long.

Nestled along the Mobile River, Cooper Riverside Park spans 3 acres and offers a serene escape with its outdoor sculptures, paved walking paths, and inviting benches. Well, not sure how to rate this. We were camping & drove into Mobile to check out the park only to find that it's completely dug up (except for the big trees)...including most of the parking lot. So, nothing to see except big equipment dredging the river's edge & dumping it onto the land & the statue of Diberville (but that may belong to the nautical museum). Expanding the park? Turning it into something else?
Monique — Google review
This is an interesting little park on the riverfront that we visited when we were in town for an event at the Convention Center. You can watch the ships coming and going, and take a short walk. Not sure why, but they had the area closest to the river blocked off when we were there. The parking lot is good for using when going to an event in the Convention Center, rather than getting lost in the parking garage and having to pay a $12 fee.

The Conde-Charlotte Museum, also known as the Kirkbride House, is a historic landmark in Mobile, Alabama. Built in 1822 as the city's first courthouse and jail, it was later transformed into a residence by Jonathan and Elizabeth Kirkbride. The museum offers tours for adults to explore its rich history under five different flags: French, English, Spanish, American and Confederate. Visitors can see authentic antique furnishings reflecting Mobile's diverse cultural heritage over the past 300 years.
The Condé-Charlotte Museum in Mobile, Alabama, is a hidden gem! Kathy and Kim provided an exclusive and personalized tour, catering to just the two of us. Their passion and knowledge for the history and artifacts were evident as they shared detailed stories and allowed close-up views of the antiques. The mansion itself is a beautiful testament to the city's past. This intimate and informative experience left us with a deeper appreciation for the history of Mobile and the people who shaped it. Highly recommended for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking a unique cultural experience.

The Condé-Charlotte Museum is a beautiful home and collection of period pieces. The host are some of the most gracious folks you will find anywhere and they give a great tour. Besides all the Historical Artifacts, which are excellent, it like a walk through time not only of Mobile, but Alabama and the United States. Very educational and it pulls no punches with it exhibits. They did it the right way. Plan to spend some time there to take it all in. Park
Meaher State Park, located less than 10 miles east of downtown Mobile, is a serene nature area offering camping and picnicking spaces, a fishing pier, and a waterfront boardwalk. The park is part of the Coastal Alabama Birding Trail and features gorgeous nature trails for hiking and bird watching. With over 1,300 acres of wetlands to explore, it's an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts.
First time here. Meaher is a gorgeous state park. It's in close proximity to all kinds of things. Bathhouse/restrooms are clean and comfortable. Sites are spacious and spaced far enough apart. Beautiful views of the bay - at sunrise and sunset. Plenty of gators to be seen. Staff was super friendly. Went straight across the road, to the government building, and got my out of state fresh water fishing license. Full hook-ups uos were nice. The pedestal grill was OK- but the wind kinda makes it hard to grill on it. No fire pits at campsites but with the amount of pine needles carpeting the ground I understand why. No biggie. Be sure and sweep/blow needles off the tops of your slide outside before retracting tem in. Just a suggestion. Overall it is a lovely place and we will be back sometime.
Robert R — Google review
A small but very beautiful park. The facilities (restrooms, showers, laundry) are well kept, the bathrooms being especially clean. They are currently adding new buildings and upgrading the park quite a bit. In addition to the well kept older wash buildings, there is a brand new wash house with each room having toilets, changing table, and shower. They have a brand new loop with paved, level sites; however, there is no shade in the new loop as all the trees were taken out to accommodate the new sites. Hopefully part of the long term plan is to put some trees in that area, as it can get extremely hot and the wind off the bay makes it hard to keep an awning or canopy in place. We struggled a little bit with the water pressure at our full hook-up RV site. The staff was so kind and accommodating, the boardwalk is perfect to catch a sunset. The boat launch is easily accessible to all sites. There is also a fishing pier, which we didn’t utilize but is also conveniently located within the park. The USS Alabama Memorial Park is a 10 minute drive from here, which was part of the reason we booked here to begin with. It’s also got groceries and restaurants nearby.
Lauren B — Google review
Came here for homecoming pictures. Absolutely gorgeous view and beautiful sunset. There were a few grasshoppers on the trail part. The park is well-maintained and has a grass pathway that leads to a pier overlooking the bay and causeway. It's really breathtaking.

For our girls trip, we found this park to tent camp while visiting the Mushroom Festival in Fairhope. We stayed at campsite 33, which is just steps from the water and has a little bench under a tree to sit on to enjoy the view of the Bay. There are water and electric at each site. The people here are so friendly and the facilities are clean. There is a coin laundry area, a kayak drop-in & rental, and a dock to walk out on to fish or just enjoy the view! Not every site has tree coverage so make sure if you want to have a couple of trees near you to just look up YouTube reviews that visit each site ... this is what helped me pick site 33 because I wanted to be near the water and have trees around us. We would definitely stay here again!!

Decided to stay one night while enroute to St. George Island. Park is very clean, sites are nice size, very level. We enjoyed a stroll on the boardwalk and saw an alligator eating its dinner. Showers/restrooms are clean. Each site has picnic table and grill, with full hook ups.
H E — Google review
The best thing about this park is being on Mobile Bay for the sunsets and the wildlife - pelicans plunging for fish, the occasional alligator in the water. The lots are flat and paved, with full service outlets (electricity, water, sanitation), and a laundry on campus. The restrooms were extremely clean but oddly spartan - for example, no trash receptacles in the stalls in the women's rest room. You can hear the noise from Hwy 98 at this park. Great for a couple nights while exploring the Mobile area.
Merry S — Google review
Great stop for a couple of hours - parked in a small shaded lot by the boardwalk. nice walk over the marsh - birds, turtles. saw lots of signs warning about gators but saw no gators. $3 per person for a day pass and they let us fill up our water tank at an open RV site. thank - you!!

Wintzell's Oyster House is a renowned seafood restaurant that has been a staple in Mobile, Alabama since 1938. Originally starting as a small oyster bar, it has now grown into an informal chain eatery known for serving fresh Gulf Coast seafood, including their famous oysters prepared fried, stewed, or nude. The restaurant has received accolades for its oysters and crab, recognized as the best in various publications.
We enjoyed a great meal. The bienville oysters were delicious. The gumbo had a nice little kick to it and a great consistency. The strawberry shortcake included ice cream on top which was very tasty. We had excellent service and great tasting food. The fried green tomatoes were also very good, including what they called gravy which was a seafood sauce that you could put on the tomatoes which made them even more delicious. Besides being great food the atmosphere is fun because the walls are covered with short, funny jokes everywhere you look. It's non-stop fun reading all of the jokes on the walls!

I was extremely excited for this as I had heard so much about the quality of food and the overall experience. Maybe my expectations were too high. The service was great and the food was good not great. The restaurant has character and could be a little cleaner. Parking was easy as it was right across the street but it was a Sunday night and if really busy downtown parking could be a challenge.

My husband and I tried Wintzells Oyster House recently and both liked it. We ordered the oyster sampler and the shrimp sampler. He loved his oysters. My shrimp sampler was pretty good but most of them were overcooked. Service was great and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Parking wasn't bad since they have a dedicated parking lot across the street. Bring a jacket because they keep the restaurant cold!

Tried it based on reviews and liked it. We had grilled oysters and the broiled platter. Oysters were small ( reportedly because of this time of year which we can live with but they were slightly overcooked and one oyster was only bread which they offered to fix but we declined as we were getting ready to leave. We really enjoyed the meal and almost perfect. Yes we would try it again.

The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion, a stunning Greek Revival-style building constructed in 1855, is a historic landmark in Mobile, Alabama. It is renowned for its architectural beauty and has become one of the city's most photographed structures. Originally built as a lavish home for Judge John Bragg's wife to entertain during Mobile's social season, the mansion features extravagant elements such as double parlors, a grand circular staircase, and spacious rooms that reflect Southern social entertaining at its peak.
Just a beautiful spot! So much rich history and wonderful staff. I booked this place (no fee) for an outdoor trail maid session and the staff was so helpful and readily available! They also have an instagram page!

Beautiful old home, tour is a hour long, but as mentioned in other reviews, photography inside is not allowed, and preference is given to anything wedding related over your tour.

Fantastic tour by Mary Kay Beautiful grounds (with trees over 300 years old!) and an even more beautiful home. Highly recommend!!

Gorgeous venue I attended for a beautiful wedding. Inside and out was immaculate. Would definitely host special events here and would love to go back!

Great tour with lots of info on the house and its former owners. The house is available for weddings and receptions and other events. The grounds are well maintained as is the house itself. The tours start only at the top of the hour so plan accordingly and don't be late.
Stevan B — Google review
The home is very elegant and the young lady who gives the tours is very pleasant. However they do not allow photos (After of course I had taken a few) I was informed. I believe the admission price was $10 a person. They do have wheel Chair accessibility And an elevator so you needn't have to climb the stairs if unable. However if you are unable to climb the stairs you won't be able to see the pictures they have in the vestibule that shows the home prior to having an add on To the porch. Extremely beautiful and most everything in the house is original Except for one bedroom and They will tell you about that. There is a lot more than this to see, if you like what I've shown you it's a must see !!

This is a nice park during the day. It's usually safe, and I've been coming here since I was a kid. Now, I usually hunt for mushrooms to identify in the woods area. There's tons of species back there. There's a pretty good trail/forest system connected, as well as a disc golf course.

Medal of Honor Park, located at 1711 Hillcrest Road, is a large, 133.5-acre public park in Mobile, Alabama. Named to honor Medal of Honor recipients, the park provides a serene and welcoming environment for families, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone seeking outdoor recreation. Its spacious layout and variety of amenities make it a versatile destination for the community. The park is well-maintained, with clean facilities and shaded areas that provide comfort during warmer months. The mix of sports fields, trails, and quiet green spaces makes it suitable for both active recreation and leisurely visits.

The playground is an “out-of-the-box” plastic structure. No hanging, pull-up or monkey bars. No structures for adults to exercise or train on except a walking path. And the splash pad has really warm water, which is not fun when it’s 100° outside and the water just shoots up from the ground. No dumping buckets or unique or playful structures. I teach parkour and ninja fitness classes and workshops wish they had more unique and creative endurable structures for jumping, climbing, swinging, etc.

A well-rounded environmental center for education and conservation/rescue, plus entertainment and recreation. Their holiday and outreach camps are invaluable for teaching all generations. Very peaceful, love to see the animals. My kids loved it. We live very close by however this was our first time visiting two days in a row. Wonderful job the people who work here love what they do. Everyone should promote and support places like this to preserve the animals and to educate our new generations to appreciate and do their part to preserve nature. This place should be supported by the Mobile County public school system. Visit and tell others about this place, please. Do not litter. preserve our water resources, help turtles cross the road., plant a pollinators garden. God Bless you all!

Beautiful place but god forbid you find a wild animal and need help. The biologists 'advice' killed 5 birds all because she didn't want to spend the time to care for them for 2 weeks until they were fledged. She also acted like I was a complete idiot and was super condescending. If you see this, I hope you at least learn to treat people with more respect rather than just shut them down.

My partner and I decided to go here after the new year started and we were both pleased with the experience. Both of us have such fond memories of the center from when we were kids in the 1980s on school field trips. The center is still as fascinating and tranquil as it was then. My favorite exhibit was definitely the aviary. It was the first time I ever saw a bald eagle up close. The lake and the carnivorous plant bog were so idyllic and eye catching; we didn't want to leave. It was like something out of a nature painting. The classroom was also a highlight with live reptiles. We are going to adopt an animal and will definitely be returning here often to donate and be with nature. It is almost like a gasp of fresh air in the midst of a chaotic city. We are both eagerly anticipating the bi-annual "Skywatch" event.

Interesting and eclectic collection with thought provoking pieces. Some interesting social statements. Didn't agree with some, but they were well presented and showed the artists' intense feelings on the subject matter. And being of a libertarian bent, I appreciated the visual statement of the point of view. There is some nudity in the adult section; however it is not gratuitous. Those familiar the nudity with more classical art will be comfortable. Typical of contemporary art, there was a fair variety of media used. Got a chance to speak with the executive director. A very interesting woman. Admission is a donation in the amount you choose. Worth a side trip if you are downtown. And take a few minutes to enjoy the Moblobz mural on the building exterior. A fun and fanciful work.

Africatown Heritage House is a newly opened cultural center that features the Clotilda: The Exhibition, showcasing artifacts and documents telling the story of enslaved people who built the Africatown community. The Historic Avenue Cultural Center also offers an interactive exhibition called Remembering the Avenue, which includes panels on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The space is beautifully designed with images, maps, stories documented by Zora Neale Hurston, artifacts, a film, and personal audio devices.
Fascinating local museum (in partnership with National Geographic and the Smithsonian) centered around the people brought to America on the last known slave ship to land in the country (the Clotilda) and the founders of the town in which the museum is located. Staffed by locals, many of whom are descendants of the original enslaved, then freed, Africans themselves. Exhibits don't take more than an hour and a half to enjoy, reading absolutely everything. Pieces of the wreck of the Clotilda, discovered in 2019, are featured in the last room. Photography is not allowed inside the exhibits.
Bryan C — Google review
I am not sure what I was expecting when I found out about this museum, but I am blown away. The exhibit begins in Africa and ends with descendants speaking about growing up and living in this area. It is thought provoking and chilling to learn this information. I would recommend to anyone at all.
Andrea F — Google review
What an inspiration! This is a first rate museum detailing the history, through an audio self-guided tour, of the settlers of Africatown. The settlers were enslaved illegally, long after the Transatlantic slave trade had been banned but shortly before Emancipation. When freed, they built their own town based on their shared African values. We would have liked to take the tour of Africatown itself but time prevented. We hope to be back!
Merry S — Google review
It was AMAZING to learn of this extraordinary history. The museum outlines the resilience of Africans brought to America against their will, and how the remaining ones built a community called AfricaTown. If you love history, it's a must-see in Mobile, Alabama.
Debbie T — Google review
This was one of the highlights of my Alabama trip was visiting the heritage house. When coming to Mobile 15 years ago just a plaque. So happy that now an actual building I didn't rush but took everything in and during it had to stand back and later sit to reflect. As an avid genealogist also like how items used to research family during certain times was displayed to tell their stories. There's a short film at the very end and one of the women in it was there and glad to give more information since she is a descendant. This is part of America history which some don't want to acknowledge. The history of our country is both good and bad and all need to be shown.
Tamara J — Google review
The Africatown Hertiage House is a very interesting, informative, and educational Museum. The museum shares a lot of information regarding the "CLOTILDA-The Last Ship" that arrived in the U.S.A. and the Community of Africatown.

October 25, 2025 – Africatown Heritage House This was a really neat tour. The thing that amazed me the most was the beaded regalia—millions of beads covered each piece. I didn’t even know how the beads were made, so I asked, and they told me that the men of the towns created them from glass. I’m assuming the women did the embroidery. The pieces featuring snakes and a lion were absolutely stunning, as were the headpieces and the bags. The amount of time and effort that went into making these works of art was phenomenal. The stories shared during the walkthrough were powerful and moving. Thinking about these people being ripped from their homes and families, and treated like animals, was absolutely heartbreaking. This experience was a powerful reminder of where we once were as a nation and how far we’ve come and a call to never go down that kind of path again.
Noelle P — Google review
We did several museums in the Mobile area and this was by far the most educational. The lady at the desk is an actual descendant of a slave and she was a wealth of information. It is not very big but it serves its purpose well.

I had my son a birthday party at DREAMLAND skate center in Tilman’s corner on yesterday. I’m not a fan of bashing businesses of any kind so I’ll keep it as brief as possible... I was rushed from the time I walked through the door. My experience was terrible, and I couldn’t be more disappointed. The owner constantly hassled my son’s father about adding more time. Although I booked from 4-6 (per my contract) they penciled in a different time & made us leave at 5:30 because the staff had come in early (she complained about working on a holiday and having her time wasted) Nothing was prepared when we arrived. From the snooty staff to the very rude owner the entire experience was absolutely awful. They were vacuuming while we were singing happy birthday!! To top off the terrible experience…as we were packing our cars, outside of the rink (the owner and staff had left) 2 officers pulled up because the owner said he wanted us off of his property. They were as confused as we were because no one was disorderly. Go where you’re welcomed, and not tolerated for a dollar.

Though small, this is a great science muesum. We especially appreciated the interactions with one of their demonstrators, who was welcoming, friendly, and encouraging to both my children, not bothered by differences or or abilities. The current special exhibit is on illusions. Both kids were intrigued by the science behind "magical tricks." Our kids love this place, so lilely would give it 5 stars. But it is small. And I cannot recommend the cafe, which was tough for even me to endure, let alone enjoy, and I am not picky. They can't accommodate allergies either. (So we have learned to bring your own lunch or opt to visit a local restaurant and come back later the same day.) I do wish the hours were more extended on Saturdays and during the summer. 10-4 is really brief when there is so much to be engaged by and learn and discover.

So their website has this to say: Chickasabogue Park is temporarily closed to the public effective Jan 31, 2022, for infrastructure and amenity improvements. It will remain closed until construction and renovation are complete. It’s estimated the park will be closed for at least a year. Yet my review date is 01.14.24 and NOTHING done to the beach area yet.

I really love this park. It has a wonderful swimming area. After swimming it has a nice shower area so you can wash and change. Adults cost a dollar and children are free. You can't beat the price. It has wonderful picnic areas with grills close to the water. The park is very clean and well maintained. Security are wonderful . A place you must visit.
Cindy H — Google review
Boo-No more kayak rentals! You can still bring your own, but I do wish they would publish that info on website or somewhere obvious. Way-finding signs are desperately needed in the park and on the way there. The water access area still needs updates and maybe some big warnings about alligators would be responsible. (I saw an 8ft-er up the creek.) Every employee I encountered was solidly inside their phone.
Aliv — Google review
We are pleased to see all of the renovations and equipment updates completed at the park. It has been one of our favorite local spots for swimming and trails and we were excited for the re-opening. There a couple of reasons for only being able to give 4 stars. The restrooms that used to stay well-maintained and clean were less than satisfactory during our last two most recent visits. There was no toilet paper or soap in either the men's or women's restroom. While I understand that a busy day can cause stocked supplies to go quickly, when I asked one of the many workers on golf carts about it, they laughed and said, "Yeah there isn't any anywhere." The restrooms were very unclean, and no attention seemed to be going toward them despite golf carts with 2-3 workers riding around, stopping to talk to people. It was just disappointing to see that no one was taking it as a priority even though this was obviously a health concern. The employees were nice enough, and I do feel like they were watching for safety concerns - swimmers, boats coming through, cars speeding, etc. I would just rather the park charge a small fee again so that needed supplies can stay stocked.
Kamann H — Google review
$1 entry for access to forested paths, camping, ball fields, fishing dock, disc golf course, small boat launch, kayak rental with mapped water trails, restrooms, playground, and sandy swim beach. Clean and extremely quiet. Called twice recently just to find out if playground equipment was open yet after covid restrictions loosening (but no answer)
Alexandra M — Google review
Yes this was an awesome place but not anymore the bathrooms aren't taken care of nor do the mobile county employee's care about the park this place would be a great place to be if the money was actually spent on the parks some how and for some reason money continues to get lost or" misplaced " so they say. Can anyone say that they see enough improvement for a 1million dollar budget every year. which they have been getting for sometime now. please let me know what you think.

My favorite full size park in the city of Mobile, Alabama. Its beauty is its simplicity-no huge playgrounds or splash pads. The walking trails are beautiful, great for enjoying nature with your friends and family. We took our son and our dog and they were very happy. The park itself is really nice and huge, with plenty of space to walk, explore, and enjoy. It was clean and well-maintained overall, with lots of trash receptacles and open areas to relax or play. However, the playground was a bit of a letdown—several pieces were broken and taped off. It didn’t feel completely safe for the kids, though with close supervision, we were still able to enjoy the visit. We stuck to the safer areas and had a good enough time overall. Definitely worth a visit, but I hope they repair the playground soon so families can enjoy it fully.

A great place to take family. Don't be afraid of the ducks, they're used to being fed so they will come close to you if you're sitting in the swing. I just sat there and eventually they went away. You van walk the trails, eat at the picnic tables, or enjoy the scenery. I definitely recommend this place.

Fantastic park. Beautiful scenery. I love the wildlife, walking trails and picnic area. It's a fantastic place for birthday parties, a morning or afternoon walk, run, bike and don't forget the furbabies. The park is always clean and the landscape is maintained. There is are trails across the bridge behind the museum to the left and right. The left trail is a bit more challenging for those of us willing to go the extra mile and leads up the hill around to the tennis courts and back to Ziegler. The restrooms are on the main park side near Ziegler are very clean and usually open during park hours, they lock at dusk. Enjoy the park, keep it clean, don't feed the ducks (several we're killed a year or so ago, people feed them but complained about the poop on the walkway) feed the seagulls and have a wonderful day.
