The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites is a historic landmark in Halifax, welcoming guests for over 85 years. Located near the Halifax Public Gardens and within walking distance of the Citadel National Historic Site and the city's harbor front, it offers refined accommodations with modern touches following a recent refurbishment. The hotel's old-world charm is preserved in its remarkable lobby, complete with stately doorkeepers, topiaries, and grand chandeliers.
I felt compelled to share my amazing experience at the Lord Nelson. I stay here from time to time and as always my experience is great. I had to give my appreciation to all the staff who work very hard. From the bell man who treated me and was ready to assist. The house keeping who kept everything clean with a smile. Last and certainly not least the front desk who from check in to check out provided their amazing hospitality. In particular Bidhan was very helpful and I just wanted to take the time out to show my gratitude.

My husband and I stayed here on a recent vacation. It was very, very nice. The room was spectacular, the staff, friendly and helpful. The area had everything, restaurants, shopping, and beautiful gardens right across the street. If you are in the area, and have the opportunity to stay here, do it. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for a lovely stay .
Lynn D — Google review
We have visited several hotels in Halifax area, and selected the Lord Nelson for our event. This is a very nicely renovated hotel with great event space and excellent service. Hotels food is usually 5 out of 10, but the Lord Nelson gets 10 out of 10 from our international attendees and that means a lot. Meals were healthy, delicious, and artfully decorated. The event manager, Jahnia, was above and beyond helpful, ensuring a smooth event operation, setup, and addressed all our requests in a timely fashion. The crew on the ground make the experience a great one and makes us come back. Shout out to Amir at the catering service with being on top of everything and helping with all our needs. We had a great experience and happy with this choice.

Couldn't have been better. They upgraded us to a king suite for our anniversary, even left us wine and chocolates in the room. Everything was tasteful, spotless, and comfortable. The staff was very attentive, and the hotel itself is a historical classic train hotel, with all the beautiful wood, brass and marble accents. The location across from the public gardens was very convenient. We'd stay again, and definitely recommend to friends.

So many things went right with my stay at the hotel from Sept 16 to 19th. Check in was very positive. A sweet, smart an chatty reception agent. She gave me a beautiful room on the 9th floor. She really shined by sending me a handwritten note in my room a couple days later welcoming me to Halifax. In the note was reference to why I was in town, and wishing me the best. I was very touched and still have the note in my briefcase. My room was excellent. Nice to open the fridge and see all I needed for coffee waiting inside. Comfortable couches and bed. Shower was excellent, lots of pressure and roomy. Nice quality amenities. Very quiet as well. Easy parking, but if I had a few bags, I would drop them in front of the hotel with the bell man and then park. Humping a few bags in an unfamiliar parking garage, and then the trek to the actual hotel could start you off on the wrong foot. The hotel is right across the street from the Public Gardens. A great place to take your morning coffee. The real kicker about my stay was that I forgot about the three shirts I had in the wardrobe. I called and the hotel sent me my shirts by Canada Post with only the postal charge. Legendary service. Can't use names, but the person I spoke to about my shirts was as nice and sweet and the front desk person. The location is great for nightlife as well. Only a ten minute walk to be in the heart of the Halifax restaurant/bar scene, but nice and quiet by the hotel. Again, many thanks to the hotel staff for not only a great stay, but for sending me my shirts. Highly recommend.

Standard hotel room. We stayed Saturday night and there was a wedding on so hotel was busy. Elevators are very slow, lucky we were only on the third floor so we took the stairs! Walls are thin, we are woken up in the middle of the night by loud guests and children in the hall - Saturday night so what can you do. No breakfast included but there is a restaurant as well as a McDonald's, Tim Hortons and Starbucks just around the corner. Good location, right across from the public park which is lovely, short walk downtown to restaurants, bars and the seafront. Easy car parking underground for a fee. If you pull up in front they will give you a card to access the underground right away, then there is a drop box when you drive out after check out.

This is our second time staying at the Hotel, our first time was in February and our experience wasn't great. We decided to give it another try. This time everything was perfect. Danielle and her staff did a great job in making our stay a great experience. Danielle, thank you so much to you and your staff. We will be back!

Great old railway style hotel. Beautiful and historic in common areas, with rooms fully renovated and up to date with little kitchens and living areas. Perfect combo. Fun neighborhood, walking distance to all of downtown and waterfront. Easy driving access too. Secure underground parking. Priced really well for our stay. We would easily stay here again.

Hotel
The Prince George Hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia offers stylish rooms and upscale amenities including an on-site restaurant, meeting rooms, and a pool. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of other hotels in the area. One standout feature is the availability of two different buffet options at their restaurant. Additionally, the hotel is pet-friendly and provides amenities for four-legged guests, making it a welcoming choice for travelers with pets.
Granted the hotel was very busy when we went. However the rooms were very clean and spacious. The pool was warm, clean and lovely. The sauna was clean and nicely done. The hot tub well maintained. Location was excellent, and only a short walk to great local sites. The breakfast buffet was good value for the cost. The parking was easy. Staff was approachable and eager to help.

My husband, dog and I stayed here for our first time in Halifax. This hotel is absolutely wonderful. The staff are insanely professional and polite and the atmosphere is lovely. Patrick, who was phenomenal, checked us in and gave us a complimentary upgrade and a present for our dog (she was thrilled). Our room was clean and the view was great. We were also given two complimentary breakfast buffet cards—and that was delicious. We LOVED our stay and cannot wait to come back!

I’ve had the privilege of staying in some of the world’s most luxurious and high-end hotels, yet Prince George Hotel stands out as one of the finest experiences I've ever had. What truly sets it apart is the exceptional service and professionalism of the staff. Every team member is remarkably courteous, attentive, and communicates with genuine warmth and clarity. It’s evident that they go above and beyond to ensure every guest has a memorable and seamless stay. The rooms are immaculate, generously spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with all the modern amenities one could need. From start to finish, my stay was nothing short of outstanding.

My wife and I stayed at Prince George Hotel for 4 nights during our trip to Halifax and absolutely loved the hotel! The room we reserved looked exactly like the photos online. The hotel was extremely clean and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. I requested for a microwave because I needed to use hot compress on my eyelids daily to treat dry eyes, and they provided one without extra cost, which I really appreciated! We were especially impressed by the made-to-order cookies in their in-room food menu. We ordered some cookies, which were made from scratch and delivered to us still warm. The location of the hotel was extremely convenient as well, just steps away from the citadel and all the great restaurants. We will definitely be choosing Prince George Hotel when we visit Halifax again.
James Z — Google review
Excellent hotel. Great staff. Nice room, more like a suite. Maid service even left a written "thank you" for each daily tip. Shower was big enough for a small dance party. Jetted tub was huge, as well. Valet was quick and easy. Morning breakfast buffet, although repetitive, was very good.
Gayle C — Google review
My wife and I arrived at the hotel late evening following our flight from the U.K. and were warmly welcomed, and to our delight, upgraded to a suite with complementary breakfast for our two night stay. The hotel is well appointed and spotlessly clean and all the staff we encountered were polite, professional and friendly. There is secure parking beneath the hotel. The hotel is also ideally situated for easy walking to the waterfront bars and restaurants. Highly recommend. 👌🏻
Joeski — Google review
This is a great hotel. Check in was friendly and efficient. Our room was attractive, well-equipped, and spotless. The hotel had two small but important features that distinguish caring hotels from indifferent ones: the bathroom had a nightlight, so you don't have to blind yourself when you get up in the night, and the room had plenty of conveniently placed USB outlets for charging devices. The hotel is in a great location in downtown Halifax. I'd certainly stay there again.
Phil C — Google review
I had an impressive stay at the Prince George Hotel. My executive suite was very spacious, relatively updated, had a great spa-like bathroom and was very clean. The suite views were also impressive, considering that I was only on the 4th floor. The hotel's front desk team were friendly, professional and attentive, Paige was particularly friendly and helpful with my stay. The hotel is quint yet charming, has all the conveniences that one would want with a great central location to everything within easy walking distance...so many great restaurants and amazing cafes nearby! Breakfast was also impressive, fresh and had a bountiful selection. Service was also excellent and attentive. The bar and outdoor terrace was also nice, great drinks and snacks (service was friendly yet pretty slow). Some of the lobby furniture needs updating, elevators were slow, pool and hallways really needs updating, as they were showing their age (room hallways — are badly dated and smelled musty). The hotel also really needs to add a doorman (especially during busy seasons), and key access to the room floors for guests privacy/security! The hotel also backs onto a very busy "party" street, so be sure to know that rooms facing that side of the hotel can get pretty loud with street / pedestrian noises late into the night. Otherwise, I had a terrific, pretty much flawless stay that exceeded my expectations.

Although our stay was short, it was absolutely memorable. The staff catered to our every need and made us feel truly important and well taken care of. The entire facility was spotless, and our room was in great condition—comfortable and well-maintained. We especially appreciated how family-friendly everything was. The pool was the perfect temperature for little ones, and the hotel clearly puts thought into accommodating guests with children. We also enjoyed the on-site dining options, which were convenient and delicious. To top it all off, the view was spectacular. Overall, it was a warm, clean, and inviting experience from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back!

This is the BEST mariott experience I have ever had after being an avid Mariott customer since childhood. The reason: the amazing people who work here!! The QUEEN here is Renata from the M lounge; I have never met someone so sweet, humble and friendly! She literally single-handedly made our 8-day stay phenomenonal. The joy she gave to our toddler was unprecedented and her gentle manner and games will always be remembered. Another really valuable member of the team we want to give credit to is Ayman from the front desk who made our stay so enjoyable with a nice welcome to Halifax and Nova Scotia and was always available when we had questions and concerns! We also want to give a shout out to Angelica, Jenn, Yoshida and Naomi from the M lounge, who were always smiling and ready to serve us. The Halifax harbourfront mariott M lounge is literally the best club lounge we have ever been to! It allowed for an-inclusive experience, with excellent breakfast and dinner hours (6:30-11:30 and 4-10pm), great variety of food, and tons of snacks and drinks all the time. I think the part we really appreciated was the consideration: to-go biodegradable boxes and bags and everyone being so sweet about taking our left-overs. The pool was excellent - we swam daily! The temperature of the pool area and water was very comfortable. A few suggestions to make the experience even better: clean the pool area floor twice daily to prevent dust/dirt from getting into water, increase the temperature of the changing area (literally freezing) and make the whirlpool less hot. The check in service given by Ayman, SK and Riley were really appreciated. The check-in for kids and the scavenger hunt is so cute and appreciated! It gave our toddler such a wonderful experience.
Saman A — Google review
I really enjoyed my stay at the Marriott Harbourfront. The newly opened M Lounge was a highlight — it was so convenient having access to snacks throughout the day and a nice breakfast in the morning. The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants and attractions within walking distance. The only downside was that the hot tub was closed during my visit, which would have been a nice bonus. Overall, a comfortable stay in a great spot on the waterfront.
Jina B — Google review
Our room was nothing fancy, but clean and housekeeping did a good job keeping the room tidy and stocked with water and fresh towels. The location was perfect, right on the Harbour and walking distance to a ton of restaurants and things to do. The gym had plenty of equipment to use.

What can we say. My husband and I stayed here on our recent vacation. It was fantastic. Our suite was stunningly beautiful. A dining area, dishwasher, fridge, separate from our sleeping area was so nice. The sleeping, seating area was set up perfectly. The shower was so fantastic. Lots to see, and do in the area. The breakfast was SO delicious, and SO much food. Shout out to the front desk staff, and the cleaning lady. They were there for us with information, questions, addressing everything we inquired about. We would highly suggest to stay here in a suite if you are in this area. Thank you so much for a fabulous, wonderful stay during our vacation.
Lynn D — Google review
We were able to check in early, which was a nice surprise. Our room had a beautiful waterfront view and was very spacious with a massive closet, which I absolutely loved! The bed was super big and incredibly comfortable. The hotel also had a great gym with Peloton bikes and a solid selection of weightlifting equipment. The coffee bar was a nice touch, though it closed at 2 p.m. Overall, a very comfortable and enjoyable stay!

We never received our Bon Voy points for my 3 nights stay at Halifax Harbourfront. A week after my stay, my booking and the history for nights I stayed disappeared from our Bon Voy account. I called Bon Voy centre for clarification and explained we booked my stay through my husband’s account and had also called the hotel prior to stay to confirm the booking. The lady at Bon Voy centre confirmed it takes two or three weeks for the hotel to submit points to Bon Voy and sometimes hotel removes and then returns the days stayed due to accounting to include any expenses from the restaurants etc. She assured we will receive our points in two or three weeks from my call and she can see my reservation number and payment history in their file etc. When I was booking my stay through my spouse’s Bon Voy account, I also called for a possible early check in since my flight was arriving early and I was travelling for over 18 hours. The hotel told me my husband needs to call and confirm he is booking the room for me , which he did. They never mentioned my spouse also needs to stay at the hotel to earn Bon Voy points and the hotel certainly had no issue I booked my stay through my spouse account. When I arrived the day at the hotel, the lady at the reception was not welcoming and she was not clear if she wants to submit my stay to Bon Voy since my husband did not accompanied me upon arrival .When I explained the whole process and asked her about the pints status she said she left it to Bon Voy team to decide. This is not a transparent approach. I would certainly choose another hotel or chain for my stay if the hotel would let me know in advance points are not going to be granted. We stay at least 30 days in Marriott hotels in Canada and outside countries from upscale to overnight stays in their airport hotels. Last summer, an Autograph hotel also did not grant the points for a room we booked for a week and paid for our parents stay when we visited oversees and stayed the same hotel with them. All we needed and expected was transparency. Thank you!

The amazing location of this beautiful hotel has been matched with the friendly and accommodating staff. One of the best well-maintained indoor pools within Canada and the top notch gym made our stay even more enjoyable. Our relaxing vacations were made possible by the diligence and devotion of Renata, Kayla and Jeff. (Among many others) Keep up the great hospitality!

The Halliburton is a charming boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Halifax. Housed in three converted heritage townhouses, it offers 29 individually decorated rooms, some featuring wood-burning fireplaces and balconies overlooking a colorful garden courtyard. The hotel's Stories Restaurant is known for its inventive East Coast fusion cuisine, making it a popular dining spot for both guests and locals.
Love the history and old fashioned charm. The staff were friendly and helpful. It had a perfect location. Extremely walkable to everything! Free morning coffee in sitting rooms in main building. Nice backyard seating with water feature and lights. We lucked out on parking but they were happy to have back up parking if needed, which was in a good walking distance to the hotel.
Courtney L — Google review
Super cute and comfortable! We stayed in one of the petite rooms with a double bed, which was excellent. I have back problems and every bed other than my own gives me soreness when I wake up. This one did not! The room was quaint and clean with no smell and a nice bathroom. The hotel occupies three heritage buildings. The main entrance has a lovely but small lobby with a nice sitting room and a small breakfast lounge. The staff were super accommodating, allowing us to store our suitcases in a room there in the morning (we caught a red-eye flight into Halifax landing at 7:15 am) and then put our room on priority cleaning for an early check-in. We were very grateful for this after a sleepless night on the plane. I gave 4/5 stars on location because it is off on one side of the downtown rather than centrally located, meaning many things could be quite a walk, but the location itself is quiet and pleasant with nearby attractions like the public gardens. A good place to stay if you’re catching the train as well.

We had a lovely stay at the Halliburton and will be back again! The hotel is old but very well kept and clean. Rooms were very unique with antique furnishings. There was a lovely courtyard and garden to enjoy. We really liked the complimentary coffee in the morning in the library. We came back in the afternoon to enjoy a couple drinks for their happy hour. The staff are exceptional and really made our stay enjoyable.

Great location in historic downtown. Everything was walkable from there. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable. We didn’t have the breakfast there. Lovely and charming with wonderful friendly staff. It includes parking at the back if you need it.

Loved our stay at the Halliburton! The bed was VERY comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Bonus points for having a shower cap in the bathroom! So many hotels don’t provide one anymore and as a curly girl it is a must!
Julia A — Google review
My wife and I like boutique hotels, so we thought we'd give the Halliburton a try. The lobby is very nice and the staff, what little we saw of them, were friendly and professional. We stayed in a basement room in the building next to the main house. And that was the problem. The basement persistently smelled of mildew and was a bit damp. I asked for another room, but they were booked. Looking back, we should have gone to a different hotel. Having said all this, I suspect that the other rooms (those not in the basement) are likely nice.
Jeff B — Google review
We love it here. The Halliburton is special to us, because my fiance proposed in our room the last time we stayed. This was our second time staying and will be the place we chose to stay any time we are in Halifax. We were surprised with a bottle of bubly in the room when we arrived and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The outdoor gardens are beautiful and relaxing. Highly recommend!
Holly S — Google review
Lovely and quaint hotel in an excellent location in Halifax. The staff was amazing, helpful to a fault, and the room was just the right size. Be forwarded, there are no elevators, but the staff is quick to offer help. And parking is also tight, but with a little car jenga, you're on your way. Oh and value for dollar...amazing!

Excellent location for a conference I was attending at the Halifax convention Centre. The rooms were spacious, little Kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffee machine. The furniture is a bit worn and dated but exceptional with the cleanliness. The shower was hot with good water pressure which is all I ask for ;). A makeup mirror would be nice. Breakfast buffet is included and it was nice …bacon/sausages were an extra fee. Wonderful service and very clean. Rooftop patio and fitness area with hot tub and sauna (loved this option for workouts and fresh air). They provided food/drinks on Friday and Saturday evenings. Delicious. Location close to Citadel, Convention centre, restaurants, walking distance to waterfront (be ready to embrace your inner mountain goat on…very steep hills). The set up encourages lots of young children so lots noise from that end but overall it is quiet.

We had a really nice stay in one of the queen suites. The staff was very polite and attentive (I appreciated the initial phone call to check if we had everything we needed in the room). Good location to walk to the waterfront and citadel (despite the construction which isn’t the hotel’s fault). Everything we needed for breakfast. The rooftop patio had a great view.

Stayed 5 nights a week ago, found the check-in process very easy and the room was ready for our early check-in. The hotel is very close to the Citadel and an easy walk to the waterfront. Sackville St, is very close and an nice downhill walk. Returning to the hotel was more difficult but I climbed the hill about 4 times during our stay (did I mention that I am 73 with a replacement hip) but I did it. The free breakfasts were good, especially the coffee. The only concern was paying extra for bacon or sausage so I did without, better for me anyway. The concern I had with our last night of our stay, although it was not their fault (a concert) the addressed my concern very quickly and to my satisfaction. Thank you Will. I would definately stay here again. Carl Schurman Ottawa

We had planned to stay here for three nights with our two month old. Before making a reservation we called ahead to ensure the hotel would provide a pack and play for safe sleep. Upon check in the hotel provided a dated folding crib which does not follow current safe sleep guidelines for a babe of this age. We requested a pack and play once again and the hotel staff attempted to create “bumper pads” which we explained were a suffocation risk. Following this we decided to check out and find alternate accommodations as our babe’s safety was at risk. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone traveling with a baby or toddler.

Great place to stay! Full breakfast with good choices and coffee was good (I'm super picky). I appreciate lobby coffee and water where I stay. Awesome roof top patio to hang out. Fitness area with hot tub but gets busy, of course! Loved the location to walk to so many places including Pier 21. Staff were all friendly too!

Beautiful view of waterfront. Sun was setting from hot tub roof top. Rooms were neat, clean and cozy. Staff were friendly and helpful. I like the lemon water station by the front desk. Nice touch. Left a chocolate bar for my birthday in room!

We arrived at about the same time as a tour bus full of seniors. Our room was very large and comfortable but had a room freshener that left me feeling ill. Also street construction made it difficult to get there. We walked a short distance to get dinner and the area is great for walking. Breakfast was so crowded that it was difficult to get food. Then they were out of spoons and I had to wait so long to get one that my oatmeal got cold. Maybe it is better on other days.

The Westin Nova Scotian is an elegant waterfront hotel located in downtown Halifax, offering comfortable rooms with complimentary WiFi, as well as an indoor pool and dining options. Overlooking the Halifax Harbor and cruise ship terminal, this historic property was built in 1928 as part of the Canadian National Railways collection of Grand Railway Hotels. The hotel's classic elegance is complemented by modern amenities, providing guests with a sense of luxury and heritage.
We missed our connecting flight and ended up booking last minute at the hotel. I shared the situation and the guest services advisor Maria made sure we had an amazing overnight stay by providing cheesecake and a handwritten card in the room. We also got an upgrade to the junior suite as per my Platinum benefits which made the experience so much better. The suite was spacious and the bed was comfortable. We had a great sleep. We also got a late check out which allowed us to nap before our flight in the evening. The hotel is situated next to the Halifax harbour which has many shops and restaurants as well as boat tours. Best location! I’d definitely recommend this hotel.

We just spent 5 nights at the Westin Nova Scotian. Fabulous place to stay, although it is at the far end of the Harbourfront, so a longer walk for older folk, like us. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Of special note were: Scott, Maksym, Sanath and Lily, in the bar; servers Cammy and Tracey in the Seaport Social restaurant (fabulous food, by the way!); Asmira from housekeeping. Thank you to them and the rest of the team (under the guidance of Glenn Bowie, general manager), who made our stay so memorable!

Had a lovely 8-night stay with our two Goldens. There are 4 great strengths to this hotel: unfailingly helpful and professional staff across the services. Second, Bellhops in particular very welcoming and friendly to our dogs, as was the general manager. Third, the waterfront location is great. Fourth, the bromine pool and whirlpool are perfect, as well as gym They just need to be open for a bit longer at night. Downsides: the room was small, as was the closet, which also has an auto-shut which is really inconvenient. The plumbing is outdated. Simple amenities that should be basic are: more hooks to hang clothing or towels, or add towel bars; more hangers; a microwave, and slippers. As well, the cards to open the rooms and use in elevators don’t read that well. As to atmosphere, this seems to have become more and more a convention centre, with constant large groups everywhere and in elevators. and hanging out in the lobby with their drinks, and loud parties tolerated there can be heard in the rooms, ostensibly allowed until midnight This is not the “experience “ or “wellness “ that Marriott touts. It isn’t elegant or restful and doesn’t provide a little extra, such as a complementary breakfast We enjoy the hotel especially because it is so welcoming for our nice dogs and puts us at a really lovely and tastefully developing waterfront. Westin and Marriott need to capitalize on guests’ appreciation for this city, which conventions will not care about

Currently staying here, staff have been great and the room and location are lovely. Just one constructive piece of feedback-please install EV chargers in your main parking lot. We picked your hotel as we thought we could use the one in front but it seems it’s for valet only! Other than that great spot!

I've stayed at the Westin Nova Scotian multiple times this year, and as someone who spends at least a third of my life in hotels, I've become particular about what makes a place worth returning to: solid value, actual comfort, walkability, and ideally, a restaurant that doesn't make you immediately search for alternatives. The Westin checks all those boxes—and throws in pet-friendliness for good measure. The hotel itself is beautiful, bright, and recently renovated. Well, almost everything. The fitness center requires navigating a peculiar elevator tucked away in what feels like a completely different building, as if the gym is in witness protection. But the rooms? Quiet, spacious, and outfitted with those signature Marriott down comforters that make leaving bed feel like a personal failure. The on-site restaurant is legitimately excellent—good enough that I eat there even when I'm not staying at the hotel. Breakfast is solid: the buffet does the job with a live omelet station and rotating options, but ordering from the menu gets you the real highlights, like seared duck frittata or what might be the best avocado toast in the city (smoked salmon, poached egg, the works). Happy hour is even better—dangerously so. My wife and I once ordered one of everything, assuming tapas-sized portions. They had to push another table over just to fit it all. The baos and mussels were standouts. The jackfruit? Once was enough. Parking is slightly odd—it's around the corner behind the building—but accessible via elevator, and conveniently shares space with the Hertz rental center. The building also houses a few independent vendors (spa services, boutiques, home decor consultants), though they're not formally part of the hotel. Location-wise, you couldn't ask for better: minutes from the waterfront, blocks from the city's best restaurants. A car here is optional at best. If you're Marriott Platinum Elite or higher, upgrades are surprisingly easy to snag, even during summer, unless there's a major convention in town. There are only a handful of hotels in the world I'd return to without hesitation. The Westin Nova Scotian is one of them. In fact, my experience here was good enough that it played a part in why I moved to Halifax.

We spent four nights at this hotel with three adults and were only partially satisfied. Upon arrival, the lady at the reception desk was unfriendly. We were neither greeted nor shown any form of sympathy. We had booked breakfast for all days via booking.com. We were given vouchers for two adults and two children. When I complained, I was told that this was always the case and that we should clarify with the restaurant ourselves whether two children count as one additional adult. I felt stupid and started to ask questions. The receptionist explained to me that breakfast can only ever be booked in combination with children and that it was our fault. After a lengthy discussion, we were finally issued vouchers for three people. Overall, the room was dark and musty, with an unlit storage room for suitcases and a wardrobe. It certainly couldn't be described as beautiful at least it was clean. The “highlight” was the breakfast. In principle, it was delicious and the room was very nice. However, there was an incident: I was standing at the omelet station when suddenly a mouse climbed down the curtain next to the chef. Mind you, in the breakfast room with an open buffet?! After pointing this out, several employees were called and supposedly set traps. Especially with open food, something like this should not happen. This is a serious hygiene problem and not acceptable! We will not be returning to this hotel or recommend it.

Had a wonderful stay. Our harbour view room was spacious and exceptionally clean, giving us ample views of the 6 cruise ships docking in port. Front desk and valet were courteous, helpful and professional. Our servers at Happy Hour, dinner and breakfast were attentive to our dining needs. Our only complaint was that the food at the breakfast buffet was luke warm at best.
Claude D — Google review
I was disappointed with the quality of my room during my stay at The Westin Nova Scotian. The room felt clean but there were several elements that felt dated and below the "typical" Westin standards. The food and service in the hospitality spaces were great. I had very positive experiences with the restaurant and room service staff. The location was perfect - very accessible to downtown attractions, food, and activities.

Great hotel. Rooms are spacious and very elegant. Love that they have a Nespresso coffee machine in the room. Great view of the Harbour. Minutes away from waterfront. Excellent customer service. Everyone is nice, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

I had a fantastic stay at The Sutton Place Halifax! The hotel was spotless — you can tell the staff take real pride in keeping everything in top shape. Check-in and check-out were seamless, and every interaction with the valet and front desk team was friendly and professional. The location couldn’t be better — steps from the waterfront, restaurants, and shops, and right next to the conference center, which made attending events incredibly convenient. Highly recommend for anyone visiting downtown Halifax!

We had such a lovely staycation in this hotel to celebrate my birthday. We initially booked a queen size two-bedroom suite and were delighted to receive an upgrade. The hotel was cozy, clean, and had such a relaxing vibe — exactly what we needed for a weekend escape. The staff were friendly and accommodating from check-in to checkout. Special thanks to Patricia Lopez at guest services — she went above and beyond to assist us and made us feel so welcome. Also, a big thank-you to Shelby at valet parking for his professionalism and thoughtful support — it truly meant a lot to us. Our room was spotless with a beautiful view, breakfast was delicious, and the location was perfect for exploring the city and waterfront. My kids said, “These are the best days of our lives. Thanks, Mom!” 💕 Highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, warmth, and local charm. We’ll definitely come back again!

We had a great stay at The Sutton Place Hotel Halifax. The front desk service was warm, professional, and attentive. Valet parking was excellent — staff were courteous and helped with luggage and doors. The room was very comfortable and well-maintained, with a nice view. We only stayed one night but overall had a very positive impression. The only minor downside was the bathroom layout — it had several separate doors for the toilet and shower (for dry-wet separation), but the door placement made the space feel a bit cramped. Otherwise, everything was wonderful. The location is fantastic — just a 5–10 minute walk to the waterfront. Very convenient and highly recommended.

One of the best valued hotels I have stayed at in ages. I wish more were like it. Large modern stylish room, extremely comfortable bed and pillows, luxurious bathroom, soft house coats. The chop steakhouse in the hotel is the best one I have visited. Walking distance to everything down town. Highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed one night for the Foreigner concert at the Scotiabank Centre. Perfect location, steps from the waterfront, restaurants, shops, and beside the conference center. Our room overlooked the harbour, worth it for the view alone. Valet parking was cheaper than hourly rates and a great addition to the excellent service. Highly recommend and would stay again.

Spent 2 nights in a pleasant king room overlooking the Citadel. Nicely furnished and a good size. Location is super central for seeing downtown Halifax. Street parking is free evenings and weekends, but was difficult to find a spot anywhere nearby. One of the elevators seemed to be out of service, and the other 3 could not keep up, so there were some long waits. Service was good, but nothing that would have suggested this was a 5 star property vs 4 star. Cleanliness had some room for improvement with things like handprints on the glass bathroom door, something sticky on the desk.

Impeccable! Won't stay anywhere else in Halifax after this first stay at the Sutton. The rooms are beautiful with all of the right amenities...comfortable bedding, well appointed bathroom, great views, all the space you need and not an inch wasted. The Hollis Halifax - a DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel is a refined and modern hotel located in the heart of downtown Halifax. The recently renovated boutique-style operation offers all-suite accommodations with amenities such as fridges, microwaves, free Wi-Fi, rainfall showers, and comfortable bedding. Situated near major attractions like the Citadel and Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the hotel provides easy access to historic sites and entertainment options.
We stayed at the Hollis celebrating our anniversary. We had a great time, The room was lovely, spacious and clean. Very comfortable bed and pillows. We had breakfast at the hotel and was pleased to see so many vegetarian choices. But what made this trip extra special, was the excellent customer service we received, especially from Manpreet at the front desk. She went out of her way to make sure our anniversary visit was special. She was knowledgable, helpful and so very pleasant....

I stayed here for work for a few days....excellent location, just 2 blocks from the harbour, and 2 blocks from the Halifax Convention Centre. The warm cookie complimentary at arrival sure makes a difference! It was much appreciated. The concierge service was also great; personable and helpful. The suite room I got was BIG, and reasonably priced. The pool is nice although a bit small. Gym is full serviced. Overall, if returning to Halifax, I would stay at this location again. Lovely staff, very generously sized room, and excellent location for sightseeing.

Hotel was good. Good location and room was nice. Pool area was good. Decent enough gym. Hot tub was small, something you would find at a friends house, and was un kept and dirty. Ended up with a rash from the dirty water. Didn't realize things until I noticed a rash a few days later. Would expect a Hilton to have better hot tub maintenance.

We stayed here for several days in July. The hotel was perfect. The room was very quiet, clean and comfortable. The hotel location was perfect. Short walk to the boardwalk, restaurants, and many attractions. The staff were absolutely amazing. There was a very slight delay checking in but Wit was amazing and ensured we were comfortable while we waited. Great attention to service. The breakfasts were really good. Aeriana and Sarah served us breakfast. They were so friendly and nice. Typical East Coasters. They talked to us every morning and shared recommendations for restaurants and tour locations. This is a great hotel with amazing people.
Don B — Google review
Poor front desk responsiveness – calls from the room were never answered regardless of the time of day. Staff were unprofessional (one employee was wearing pool sandals with his uniform). The mini-store fridge was never re-stocked once during a five-day stay. Valet service was extremely slow, averaging 45 minutes daily, with no option to call ahead. Rooms were dirty, the AC was not functioning, and housekeeping arrived as late as 5:00 PM on one occasion. While the location is convenient, the property is poorly managed, overpriced, and offers far better alternatives nearby.
Jeff S — Google review
This hotel could be good, but our experience was frustrating. We were a larger group staying for a work event and had our breakfast included in our room rate. Breakfast here is plated to order, but it took nearly an hour each moring order, eat and get out because it was short staffed every day. We were confused about the process, frustrated with the wait and disappointed in the food. One person in our group got charged for all the breakfasts even though they were supposed to be included and we had to dispute. Then when I checked my credit card statement I got charged for a bottle of water that I never came anywhere near. They reversed the charge but that's a dirty tactic in my opinion. The rooms are big but have a few issues. Some mornings the water was cold, no sheers on the windows with a million balconies looking in and odd dark and depressing living spaces no one actually wants to be in. The hotel was also freezing the entire week. The bed was clean but I dont know that I'll endorse staying here next time.

After considering many other options in Halifax, we went with the Hollis and it turned out to be amazing! Location is ideal to discover the city, the service is outstanding, the rooms are neat (we had a king suite with harbour view on the top floor, wow), the pool & jacuzzi are nice and the complimentary breakfast is exceptional. Kudos to Hilton for offering such a reasonable deal for what turned out to be the best hotel we've stayed at in recent years.

We stayed four nights at DoubleTree Hollis. I'll give it 3.5 stars. PROs It's in a great location, I think we were upgraded to a bigger suite; the rooms were huge and the couches were in great condition. CONs However, the room was really dark, we couldn't open the curtains because the construction workers and building next door can see into our room. Our room was only cleaned once. (Would've been nice to have the room cleaned yesterday). I'd stay here again, but would like a better located room with more light.

The Pebble Bed & Breakfast, located in Halifax's South End, offers refined rooms with luxurious bathrooms and complimentary WiFi. The B&B provides a cozy country-style atmosphere and serves a delicious hot breakfast. Guests can enjoy various amenities such as a terrace, garden, and bar/lounge. The location offers easy access to downtown Halifax and Dartmouth's vibrant community with its charming cafes, restaurants, and historic sites like Evergreen House and Quaker House.
We began our first trip to Nova Scotia with Liz at The Pebble, and were very fortunate to have her and the house all to our ourselves at the beginning of the season. We couldn’t have been happier. The art and decor were stunning, and Liz made delicious breakfasts accompanied by plenty of local information and great conversations each day. Our 4-night stay in the Armview Suite was very comfortable and we enjoyed walks in the neighborhood and days out hiking and sightseeing. We wouldn’t hesitate to return for another stay.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Pebble. Liz, our warm and engaging host, made us feel comfortable as soon as we walked in. She served us tea and the most wonderful scones at her kitchen table and then asked us if we had dinner plans. It was late in the day, and we confessed that we didn’t have plans, so she instantly offered a suggestion. Within minutes, we had a plan for our evening and a dinner reservation. Liz gave us a unique way to see Halifax and also facilitated one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten. (And it wasn’t at an expensive restaurant!) The Pebble is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, but it’s also a convenient 30-minute walk to downtown. It’s also a beautiful home filled with lovely paintings from a local artist ( the gallery where Liz bought is another easy walk). Our comfortable room contained a luxurious bed and an expansive bathroom with a large tub, a fantastic shower, and a vase filled with fresh peonies. Our visit was made even more memorable by Liz’s stories. Don’t miss them! If we ever make it back to Halifax, we’ll be booking another stay at The Pebble.

My husband, Sam and I decided to stay at the Pebble for our 3rd wedding anniversary while we were in Halifax. We are grateful we chose to spend a few nights at this gem. The house is charming with immense attention to detail inside and out. The location is ideal - it is walking distance from downtown Halifax and the ocean is observable from the bedroom. Liz was a wonderful host. She truly made us feel at home. She is friendly and inviting, her homemade breakfasts each morning were delicious. I will miss the cup of cardamom tea she prepared for me each morning and Sam loved the French pressed coffee. We also loved the night cap of port wine which was waiting for us upon our arrival back to the B&B each night. Liz had excellent dinner recommendations as well and will provide additional suggestions if you are looking for them. I would 100% recommend the Pebble if you are planning a visit to Nova Scotia. We developed fond memories of this unique B&B in the few days we were there and hope to return when we visit Halifax again in the future.

A Truly Unforgettable 50th Birthday Celebration in Halifax My husband and daughter treated me to a weekend getaway in Halifax for my 50th birthday—a perfect blend of relaxation, fun, and adventure. While the trip itself was wonderful, what made it extraordinary was our stay at “The Pebble Bread and Breakfast”. From the moment we arrived, the B&B enveloped us in warmth, as if we were being welcomed into a lovingly curated home rather than just a rental. The space was beautifully decorated, with immaculate finishing touches that showcased an impeccable sense of design, balance, and aesthetic. Every detail was thoughtfully placed, creating an atmosphere that was both visually stunning and deeply comforting—like a "warm hug." What made our stay truly magical was the genuine connection we formed with Liz, our host. Beyond her natural warmth and attentiveness, we discovered shared passions that led to the most meaningful conversations. The highlight for me was our long talks where we bonded over our common interests in pottery, art, literature, and history—but most profoundly, over our lived experiences as immigrants. We shared stories about the challenges, opportunities, and unique perspectives that come with building a life away from home. These conversations, filled with both laughter and reflection, transformed our stay from simply comfortable to deeply meaningful. In my opinion, Liz and David exemplify what the true hospitality industry calls "unobtrusive service." It’s the little things that elevate your stay—details so thoughtfully executed they make you pause in appreciation. For instance, one small but unforgettable moment captured their attention to detail perfectly: When we returned from dinner one evening, we found our room restored to its shipshape tidiness during turndown service. But it was the bathroom that truly delighted me—as I entered, I was greeted by a subtle, sweet fragrance, and there, by the sink, stood a fresh bunch of lilacs in a vase, freshly cut from their garden. That small gesture made the space feel like home all over again, inviting us to unwind and savor the moment! I could go on and on, but all I can say is: “I cannot recommend this place enough!” On a scale of 1 to 5, I’d give it a 5 plus 1—just for Liz’s thoughtfulness and warmth. The Pebble B&B isn’t just a place to stay; it’s an experience that lingers in your heart long after you’ve left. If you’re looking for hospitality that feels both luxurious and deeply personal, this is your haven in Halifax!

The Atlantica Hotel Halifax offers a luxurious stay with its polished accommodations and four-star rating. Situated in the heart of Halifax, it provides convenient access to various city attractions and boasts stunning views of local parks and the waterfront. The hotel features an indoor pool, fitness room, and a restaurant/bar, ensuring guests have plenty of recreational options. Additionally, its central location allows for easy exploration of nearby landmarks such as Citadel Hill and Dalhousie University.
This hotel was a great choice for a work trip. The staff were kind, helpful, and held my luggage after checkout, even offering tips to make the most of my limited tourist hours. I’d definitely return. The room was clean, and the pool was especially nice—warm, clean, and likely saltwater (I didn’t notice any chlorine smell). The hotel overall was well-kept. A couple of small drawbacks: there was early morning construction outside (not the hotel’s fault, but disruptive—it started earlier than what’s allowed where I live), and the hot tub had some visible brown staining along the walls. It could probably use a deep clean, so I’d recommend checking the hot tub above the water line before hopping in. Otherwise, a great stay and a place I’d confidently book again.

Absolutely phenomenal. I stayed for two nights with family. The room was clean and so quiet: remarkably quiet for its location. Its location was great. Easy to walk to stores and the Commons, and it was easy to use public transportation with stops within meters of the lobby. The highlight were the customer service and the pool. Staff were so kind and helpful (and I asked for lots of help lol). The pool was the best pool I’ve experienced in a hotel. The water was like bath water and not overly chlorinated and the hot tub was perfect. There were tons of comfortable seating and space to relax. Overall this was a great experience. Thank you Tania and Atlantica staff for creating a welcoming experience and comfortable stay.

stayed at this beautiful, newly renovated hotel and absolutely loved it. The design has a Great Gatsby vibe, with thoughtful touches like complimentary snacks and drinks that made the stay extra special. The gym and swimming pool were also a big plus. Tania and the rest of the staff provided excellent service throughout, which really stood out. The hotel is located in a quiet area near Central Park, offering both convenience and a beautiful view. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I’d happily return

Clean rooms, super comfortable beds. Lots of room, and a large TV. The hot tub was a residential style hot tub, and was small. Only fits 4 to 5 people comfortably. The pool was nice and the fitness room was small. Location was about 25 minute walk to Harbour area. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops nearby. We were on the 15th floor and could hear traffic from Robie St. which was weird for being so high up. Also, for "4 star" hotel, they only outfit the rooms with plastic cups. Why not a decent glass tumbler?

The location suits the neighbourhood that is in and it blends in well with the surrounding atmosphere. When we first arrived, Tania at the reception desk was absolutely fantastic. You could see the pride in her face in the way that she lit up when she described the amenities and all of the locations that we had discussed visiting. The lobby area and restaurant are very inviting and the rooms are very well appointed. We would definitely return and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is a great spot, everything is top notch. Very clean, modern (but not annoyingly so), large rooms with comfortable beds and quality linens. Staff are wonderful and it's worth getting the breakfast package add on - the restaurant is a highlight. Location works, it's a $10-12 cab ride (which comes quick and at the push of a button at the front desk) to the waterfront, with lots of sights and donair shops around and in-between .

Oceanstone Resort & Hydrothermal Nordic Spa with Fitness Centre is an upscale oceanfront property offering plush rooms and cottages, perfect for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. The resort provides private cottages, guestrooms, and suites equipped with fully equipped kitchens and barbecues. Guests can also order locally sourced barbecue kits or gourmet meals from the main lodge.
Our five-night stay at Crows Nest Cottage exceeded our expectations . The cottage itself is a charming, quintessential beach house that offers a perfect blend of comfort and coziness. With its light-filled rooms, breezy atmosphere, and beach themed decor, it provided a most comfortable retreat. The sound of gentle waves lapping the shoreline just a short dune walk behind the cottage added to the serenity of our evenings & mornings. We definitely looked forward to beginning our mornings with the sumptuous complimentary breakfast served in the main lodge. The attentive staff served eggs made to order alongside an assortment of fresh fruit, croissants, meats, and other delightful goodies—an ideal way to fuel our days of relaxing exploration. Our experience at the Nordic Spa was remarkable and unforgettable . We began our “spa day” with a couples massage which was the perfect introduction to the day’s relaxing activities. The spa’s unique blend ( in an exquisite garden setting) of heat treatments, cold plunge, and restful breaks created a holistic cycle that invigorated our bodies, cleared the mind, and uplifted our spirits. The knowledgeable and friendly attendants made the experience even more special, ensuring we felt comfortable and cared for at every step. Complementing our entire Oceanstone experience were the ocean views and gorgeous sunsets from our cottage , which provided the perfect backdrop for unwinding after a days adventures . My wife and I enjoyed walking the pristine beach in front of the cottage, searching for tiny treasures of sea glass & shells which immensely added to the joy of our stay. Overall, Oceanstone Resort and Nordic Spa offered an all-encompassing retreat that nurtured our mind, body, and spirit. The warm hospitality of the staff truly made us feel like valued guests, and we left feeling inspired, and eager to return next year . For anyone seeking a restorative, beautiful, and inspiring getaway, I highly recommend Oceanstone for a complete experience of tranquility and renewal.

First stay at resort. Beautiful location, staff are very friendly and accommodating. Room - we had Rhubarb room #2 which is over the kitchen end of the restaurant so we knew when booking that it would be noisier so just be aware that it is - the hours of operation are 11:30 to 8 however they need to prep in the morning so they are there early at 6:30-7 am so no sleeping in unless you have ear plugs this is not a criticism just an awareness. We were good with it as we got up early to get about our day. The view from the deck on our room was spectacular and a great place to sit as long as the weather is good. Bed was comfortable, room is small but again that is ok. The room does not have a chair to sit in which I did make the suggestion to add even a couple of good folding chairs in the closet that could be used. The shower was heavily impacted by the kitchen as well which I also let the resort know about. Overall the room was fine it could just be better with a couple of little tweaks. The common areas are lovely and allow you to enjoy different areas of the resort. The breakfast is bar none the best included breakfast we have had. It is a buffet style, but they take the extra step to make your eggs and bagels fresh to order. The breakfast staff were very welcoming. We would recommend a stay at this resort and we will return.

We were here for a family function and stayed two nights. Location is beautiful minutes away from Peggy’s Cove and the lighthouse. The resort is in a beautiful setting and our cousins had a private cottage on the water with an amazing view. We all gathered there at night for both nights and had an amazing time now we know what it’s like to have an Oceanside cottage. Our accommodations were up the hill on top of the restaurant, and we’re not quite as nice. When making a reservation, make sure you inquire as to what the room is like. They included breakfast was amazing. Cooked order waffles and eggs were great, especially the scrambled eggs. Note that if you want to do the sauna and Jacuzzi in the outdoor area, at the time I write this, it was an $85 per person extra charge.

Great spa located no to to far out of Halifax. It's definitely worth the drive. Very clean and comfortable. All the The amenities were wonderful and we took full advantage of them all on our 2 hr stay. Make sure you check out the ocean view as well.

Staying in Rhubarb room #1 currently, and due to the connected deck another guest came by and peered at me while changing into a dress— seeing me basically naked. The man put his face right up to the glass and peered into my room. I felt completely violated and unsafe. I want to emphasize that staff in the main lodge were incredibly compassionate and understanding, I believe her name was Jen. She worked very hard to find us an alternative room, and she offered us a room without a balcony when one came up. I just want to vouch for how nice and supportive the staff were about this incident which was entirely out of their control. They even offered to waive any fee to switch rooms on short notice. However I still feel it’s necessary to put this out publicly that women, children and other vulnerable individuals should keep the blinds drawn if you’re staying above Rhubarb. Do not expect other guests to respect your privacy and remain in their respective area on the deck balcony.

Been here for the day spa. It was exactly what I needed, super relaxing experience. Great hydrotherapy circuit. The food was also delicious. The location is was unbelievably gorgeous. Haven’t stayed here but would definitely come back to check it out.

The Ocean Vista was a large and comfortable private room, at the top of small building. A good sized kitchenette with the pots, pans and utensils for practical use. The rooms are cleaned and reset daily, a surprise to us because we were only staying for 2 nights. All staff were stellar, we will definitely return on future trips!

Oceanstone is a lovely retreat at the seaside. We found it refreshingly lowkey and restorative. The Nordic circuit is nice, as is the spa and gym. Jumping in the ocean is *very refreshing*. Overall, great experience — will come back. Extra shout out: the resort is run by an army of very young people who did an amazing job of taking care of us, the rooms, and grounds. I’ve never encountered a group of young adults so capable.

The Muir, Autograph Collection is a luxurious waterfront hotel located in Halifax. Scheduled to open in 2021, this five-star property will offer 110 refined rooms and suites as part of the Queens Marque development. Guests can expect a high level of attention to detail, cleanliness, and amenities. The hotel features a wellness center, an indoor pool, and showcases regional artworks. As part of Marriott International's Autograph Collection, it exceeds expectations for a boutique brand affiliated with Marriott.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Muir Halifax Hotel, and I can confidently say it exceeded my expectations in every way. The hotel boasts a prime location right in the heart of Halifax, making it easy to explore the city’s vibrant culture, shops, and waterfront. The contemporary design of the hotel is striking, with a perfect blend of modern aesthetics and local charm. My room was beautifully appointed, featuring large windows that offered stunning views of the harbor. It was spacious, impeccably clean, and equipped with all the amenities I could need for a comfortable stay. The attention to detail truly set this hotel apart. One of the highlights was the exceptional service from the staff. They were incredibly welcoming and attentive, always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. I also enjoyed dining at the on-site restaurant, where the menu featured a fantastic selection of locally sourced dishes that showcased the region's culinary talent. Overall, my experience at the Muir Halifax Hotel was fantastic. The combination of a prime location, luxurious accommodations, and outstanding service makes it a top choice for anyone visiting Halifax. I can't wait to return on my next trip!

I stayed at the Muir for 3 nights on a mother-daughter trip and we both loved it. The location was perfect, room was beautiful, and service was great. I also loved the beautiful gym! We'd definitely stay here again. Our only disappointment was with the spa, because it wasn't quite what we expected based off what we saw online. We were surprised that the spa has "Family Hours" during prime times (mid-to-late morning and late aft/early eve). We visited around 5pm one day and it was full of children jumping into the pool, screaming, crying, etc. (all normal kid behaviour - just not what we expected given the serene environment advertised online!) I love kids and think it's great to have designated hours for them to enjoy the pool, but the hotel missed the mark on the timing. For a quiet environment, you have to go during "Relaxation Hours" which are early AM (6am-9am), mid-day (11am to 2pm), or late evening (6pm-9pm) when most people are out at dinner. Given these hours, it seems the spa caters to kids by default, and adults have to work around that schedule. I've now seen a few other reviews mention this, so I'm hoping that the hotel changes this schedule it some point! Aside from that, we really loved our stay and appreciate how hard the staff worked to make our trip enjoyable!

Our stay at The Muir has been fantastic! The rooms are spotless with a sleek, modern design throughout the entire hotel. Everything feels fresh, comfortable, and well-maintained. A special shoutout to U.T. at the front desk — he went above and beyond to help us plan a week-long trip, even creating a detailed itinerary full of great recommendations. His professionalism and genuine hospitality made a huge difference in our experience. Highly recommend The Muir for anyone visiting Halifax — beautiful hotel, great location, and outstanding service!

We spent 3 nights at the Muir in Halifax. arriving by train. The property is convenient to the VIA Rail station, and sits right on the wharf boardwalk. It is right next to the ferry station. The hotel itself has a very small lobby with a very nice seating area, and there is an excellent on-site restaurant. The decor of the entire hotel is understated modern quiet elegance. There is a small swimming pool on the second level, alongside a cold-plunge pool. A steam room and sauna are next to the pools. The gym is large and well equipped as well as fully staffed. The rooms have an offset entrance door which enhances privacy. The bathroom is huge and has a room-sized walk-in rain shower and a soaking tub. The floor is planking and the bed is surrounded by a rag rug. The furniture is modern and comfortable. There is a large bar containing large bottles of premium liquor, and a refrigerated drawer containing beer and soft drinks. The bed is very comfortable. The large closet contains robes, yoga equipment, an umbrella and an ironing board. The drapes are motorized. Room lighting is controlled by smart switches. My room was absolutely silent at night. Over the years, I have stayed at many high-end hotels and the Muir is in its own class. When I needed something- transportation in the house car, ferry tickets, reservations etc. the great staff just makes things quietly happen.

I had a wonderful stay at the Muir Halifax. Everything was terrific, a true 5-star retreat! The front desk team were very friendly, professional, helpful and eager to assist. Isaiah and Anna were particularly helpful with my stay; going above and beyond with all my requests and questions. The hotel is very beautiful and intimate, small and moody, yet comfortable and relaxed — I call it, "quite luxury"! My deluxe terrace corner room was terrific, spacious and comfortable with a beautiful spa-like bathroom and decent waterfront/city views. Housekeeping service was flawless with meticulous attention to detail and cleanliness; impressive as I have a keen eye for upkeep and high standards. Room service was also impressive and food was fresh (as I can be fairly particular with room service). I also appreciated that they had late night/24 hour options for food. I will say, the service at Drift restaurant could have a been a bit more attentive and friendlier. The spa and wellness pool was also very relaxing, especially after a long day out exploring in the sun, (although it can get pretty busy, going later on in the evenings are best). All and all, this was one of the best luxury hotel experiences I've had in a long time, everything was as close to flawless as it gets.

Our stay at the Muir in Halifax was truly the best we’ve ever experienced. From start to finish, the service was outstanding in every area—never rushed, always attentive, and genuinely helpful. A special shout-out to Torrie in the restaurant and Rhianna at the front desk—both went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. Their warm, professional service added a personal touch that made us feel so welcome. The rooms were impeccably clean and the entire experience felt luxurious. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a high standard of hospitality. We’ll absolutely be back!

Really wanted to like this hotel but I was disappointed. We stayed 7 nights and the breakfast situation for Marriott Ambassador members was confusing. At first we were told we had a $25 coupon but it wasn’t mentioned that the coupon was per day per person (even if only 1 paper coupon was given). Breakfast was extremely pricey and disappointing. We found mold in the berry bowl we paid $22 for (small portion). The gym, however, was excellent! Great space and the staff was very friendly. We were not impressed with the valets who basically looked at us while we took out our suitcases from the car. A nice welcome or some help is always appreciated. The location is great… but the view from the room wasn’t. We were right above the bar which could get loud. Overall decent hotel but we’ve been too disappointed to come back.

The rooms and the building overall were fantastic. Staff was attentive and friendly. The location is perfect, walking distance to everything you need in the Halifax area. Only disappointment was the speakeasy did not have the two cocktails I was hoping for, as I saw them on their social media. Alternative drinks were recommended and delicious.

Halifax Backpackers Hostel is a trendy and unpretentious accommodation option offering rooms and dorms, along with a shared kitchen and a cool cafe. Situated in Downtown Halifax, it provides convenient access to the city's major attractions such as the Citadel, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Maritime Museum, Farmers Market, and harbor cruises. The hostel boasts super friendly staff and a warm and cozy environment with its on-site cafe. Guests appreciate its proximity to downtown and LF bakery.
It’s not as comfortable as a hotel, of course — it’s a dormitory after all. I arrived in the evening and almost missed the check-in time, but everything worked out fine. I stayed in a 6-bed dorm, and it was quite clean and pleasant. There’s a coin laundry and a shared kitchen available, which is really convenient. The shower area was also clean and well maintained, which I really appreciated. Overall, it’s a nice and comfortable place for a short stay.

I normally don’t write reviews, but after my stay here I feel like I have to share my experience. I booked two nights in a private room for around \$270, which is quite expensive for a hostel. The location is very central, which was convenient, even though the neighborhood itself felt a bit run-down. Arranging a late check-in also worked smoothly, which I really appreciated since I didn’t arrive during office hours. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. Cleanliness was really disappointing: when I entered the room there were black hairs on the floor (I was the only guest and I’m blonde), dust on the fan and around the room in general, and in the bathroom there was something that looked like mold, trash, and more hair. In both areas it was smelling. The room had no AC and was unbearably hot – even with the window permanently open and the fan running all night, it didn’t really cool down. On top of that, the mattress was uncomfortable, and the bed linen didn’t smell as if it had been freshly washed. I have to admit that I peeked in the downstairs bathroom today and it looked much newer and cleaner. Anyways especially the upstairs facilities don't meet the bare minimum. For a hostel, some of this might be acceptable, but for the price I paid I definitely expected a higher standard, especially when it comes to cleanliness.

loved it! i went with my partner and friend and it was a great experience. the staff are welcoming and helpful and were lovely faces to see day to day on our trip! minor thing would be that it happened to be extremely hot and humid and it was something to get used to. my room had had a few fans, however still got hot during the day! however, quick trip to the cafe downstairs had better AC! it was nice to be able to meet new people and share stories about our day by the end of it— even make new friends! the hostel attached to a cafe that serves great food for breakfast. by the evening, an external chef duo offers sushi! other than that, the location offers many places to see close by! my group was able to spend the whole trip seeing everything on our list by just walking! 😋 highly recommend!
Keni — Google review
Originally booked a 7 night stay and unfortunately had to check out early after my first night. The cleanliness and environment was not what I was expecting and left me feeling quite uncomfortable and unsafe. Upon arriving to the hostel, I found my door unlocked and left open for who knows how long as it was evident others were staying in the room but no one had returned until hours after I arrived. It felt as though the hostel was not properly monitored by the staff throughout the day to ensure safety for all guests. The washrooms were poorly maintained, the floors were dirty and grimy and the shower stalls were unkept. There were no shower handles, just a thin metal rod making it incredibly difficult to use. There was also a significant amount of mold within the shower itself and a potent mildew smell. I find it interesting that there are no images of the kitchen, bathrooms or common areas which feels deceptive now knowing the state of them. The kitchen itself was fine, wasn’t overly dirty but wasn’t the cleanest (both in the evening and the morning) in comparison to other hostels Ive stayed in. There were dishes in the sink that had remained overnight, overfilled garbage leading to flies and an unpleasant smell. The area was okay, close enough to downtown but a little more sketchy. Overall I was disappointed, the staff however were very lovely and understanding. Management refunded just under 50% of the total cost of what I paid for the 7 nights and had no comments to the feedback I provided regarding my experience. I personally would not stay again or recommend to others especially as there is a much nicer hostel approx. 25 min walk away for very comparable pricing.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend staying here. I wanted to like it as the cafe downstairs seems cool and the people working there were nice - but the truth is that this place was absolutely filthy. The floors throughout and especially in our room felt and looked like they had never been cleaned. There was dirt all over the floors and walls and baseboards. We were there on a hot summer day and our room was unbearably hot. The only relief was a small table fan that was absolutely covered in dust. The bathrooms were not cleaned thoroughly. I felt dirtier after my shower. The location is close to a few cute bars and restaurants but it seems to be quite a rundown neighbourhood experiencing a lot of the impacts of gentrification. I would not feel safe walking there alone after dark. The hostel is really lacking security. There is a side door that is basically left open into the night and the only lock in our door was a door knob lock. Not safe or secure. I would suggest paying a few extra bucks and staying somewhere else. Thankfully we were only here for one night or we likely would have had to find different accommodations.
Hannah B — Google review
I have to concur with the previous reviews on the cleanliness of this space - granted the bed linens were clean, showers & floors in the travelled areas were modestly clean, staff were nice, but this entire place needs a proper deep clean and broken furniture needs to be fixed. Fan in my room was grimy with dust, ceiling light contained lots of dead bugs there’s years of dust piled into the room corners, very poor air flow through the one small window in my room so I imagine summer would be sweltering. I stayed one night only bc the HI hostel I booked didn’t have that one night available, but when I moved to HI what a world of difference in cleanliness, comfort, & organization! You get what you pay for unfortunately.
O A — Google review
First time in a hostel and it was absolutely incredible. Accommodations are great, the staff was totally helpful and friendly the whole time. I felt secure and comfortable as soon as I got in. The Cafe downstairs is also great. Thanks to the people who put this together and it is definitely more than worth it to spend time here on your travels.

It is baffling to read what people glowingly wrote about this hostel giving it 5-stars. I wonder if they were writing about another hostel. All told, this hostel is easily one of the worst one I had spend a night in and I have been to countless ones. This hostel has many tales to tell. When you come in, you passed by a takeout restaurant counter and the check-in desk wasn’t readily apparent. But then a polite young lady checked me in and, going up to my room through a dimly lit stairs that felt more like a ladder. I was put into a six-bed dorm. The first thing I noticed about the room was that the lower bed did not have a privacy curtains like practically all other hostels offer. There were only two of us in the room and my cohort and I looked at each other in puzzlement over what this hostel was all about. When I tried to open the storage cabinet the whole door came off in my hands. Then I looked around and noticed only one cabinet had a door still mounted on it. The pillows, which resembled rectangular pancakes were woefully inadequate. Luckily I used one of the other unused ones in addition to the one I had. Some of the bathroom hexagonal floor tiles were not grouted and after my shower some of the loose tiles stuck to the bottom of my feet and I needed to dislodge them as I tried to dry myself. The kitchen, which was positively too small for more than two people, was so dimly lit that it was hard to see our way around. The window mount fan came on loud when it did. I talked to a couple of other fellow hostellers and was told the only reason they were forced to come to this one was because the other ones were booked and they had no other choice. The hostel management might not have control over some of base building items such as the steep stairs and narrow corridors, but there are dozens of things they can do to improve this facility, but it is apparent that they don’t have either the capacity or the interest to do so. The rate that this hostel charges is on par with all the other ones across Canada, but the service and facility it provides are woefully subpar. Unless I hear things have improved, I likely won’t repeat this one. I do not recommend this hostel

HI Halifax Heritage House is a modern hostel located in an enduring building with a casual vibe. It offers various types of rooms, including dorms, private suites, and family suites. The hostel provides clean amenities such as bathrooms, showers, and a shared kitchen. The location is excellent with easy access to restaurants and public transportation. The staff is friendly and accommodating, making it a pleasant place to stay for travelers passing through the area.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. It’s newly renovated, with clean, cozy, and comfortable rooms. We stayed for five nights in a private room, and everything was quiet and relaxing. The kitchen is spacious, and the room was well-maintained. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. On New Year’s Eve, a group of us, including fellow guests and staff, went together to the fireworks and the New Year’s party at the Grand Parade area. It was such an amazing experience, and I had a great time celebrating with everyone. Everything about this hostel was perfect, but I do have one small suggestion: adding some hangers in the rooms and bathrooms would be a great improvement, especially for winter guests like us who needed space to hang jackets and towels. It’s a minor detail, but overall, the hostel was absolutely fantastic!

I’ve been to quite a few hostels and this ranks near the top for me. The hostel very clearly has undergone some recent renovations, all the facilities were beautiful. The bathrooms were always clean and available. The beds were comfy and the lockers were a good size, a great kitchen and food storage system. The location was also on a main street and a very short walk away from the harbour. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I was in Halifax. Only 3 things I’ll mention that didn’t tarnish my experience but would be good to note. There is no AC, if on the 3rd floor be prepared to walk your luggage up all the stairs and there is no sign outside which makes locating the hostel confusing (or I’m just not observant 😀)

Great location! Close to the waterfront. Newly renovated, so, everything looks very new and clean. The staff were very nice and friendly. The beds are a bit too stiff but I didn’t mind. Probably the most clean and comfortable hostel I’ve stayed at so far. Would definitely recommend! :)

No locks on bathroom doors in shared co-ed dorm, no locking options on lockers, or curtains on beds. The staff weren't particularly helpful or welcoming, and the hostel was a significant walk from anything of interest. The beds were cozy, however, and the rooms and general washrooms were clean!

Their manager Shane doesn't have the brain to hire decent folks, instead the ones he hires end up doing filthy things to people's food behind their back. Then he ignores the complaints and says it never happened. Truely a sick place not a youth hostel service.

Nestled in a stunning 1867 Italianate building that has seen various roles throughout its history, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts. With an impressive collection exceeding 18,000 pieces, it showcases both classic and contemporary works from local and international artists. The gallery features significant contributions from renowned Canadian painters like Christopher Pratt and Alex Colville, alongside an exceptional maritime folk art collection that highlights talents such as wood-carver Sydney Howard.
I’ve been traveling a lot, and wherever I go, I make a point of visiting local art galleries. I was truly impressed by this one—deeply rooted in Canadian and First Nations art. It was an amazing visit and a memorable experience that I highly recommend. To truly understand a city and its people, one must connect with their past and those who came before. This art gallery is beautifully dedicated to that purpose.

Free Thursday nights after 5pm, can casually walk through all the exhibits in an hour-ish as it’s not a large gallery. Also not busy at all it was largely empty. Most interesting exhibit is the local one on Maud Lewis and her painted house which physically got put inside the museum! Cute little gift shop.

Some really great exhibits/shows on. Wish they had more gift shop merch related to said shows. There were a lot of great indigenous artists but nothing for purchase related to these shows which was disappointing. Worth a visit even for the long-standing Maud Lewis section. The map/way-finding could be better. It’s a confusing and maze-like building and i’m not convinced I actually saw everything!

Chebucto Inn is a family-run lodging located just 10 minutes from downtown Halifax. The motel offers straightforward rooms with free Wi-Fi, free parking, and a communal balcony. It features an on-site grill restaurant that serves standard low-cost breakfast and wholesome food at reasonable prices. While the location may not be ideal for walking to most of Halifax's attractions, it is a good economical option for those with their own vehicle.
The rooms were impeccable, and the staff was attentive and very helpful. A truly enjoyable stay.

Room was comfortable. Floor was vinyl, so this is great for people with allergies, you avoid dust from carpets. The outside of the Inn is old, there are outdoor stairs to the upper level. The location of this property is a short drive to the Halifax boardwalk. The food at the restaurant was decent, we only had breakfast there. The waitresses were very friendly.

On a recent trip to Halifax with my Mom, I had a very troubling experience at this motel involving what I believe to be credit card fraud by an employee. Upon check-in, a $400 hold was placed on my card for a room costing $189.16. I was told this was standard procedure and that the hold would convert to the room charge after confirming no damage. At checkout, I was informed the hold would be released, and the staff member took my card to process the final payment. Instead of charging $189.16, he mistakenly entered $1,891.65. When I questioned it, he apologized and claimed he would refund the incorrect amount immediately. He provided a receipt for the refund and then charged the correct amount. However, after returning home, I discovered that the refund and the correct charge were processed on a different card—one that wasn’t mine. Meanwhile, the original $400 hold on my actual card had been converted to the $189.16 charge, and the $1,891.65 charge was never refunded. This incident has left me deeply concerned and out a significant amount of money. I’m pursuing the matter with my credit card company, but I strongly caution others to be vigilant when dealing with this motel.

If you’re looking for swanky digs, keep looking. If you’re looking for the most comfortable bed, book here. This is an A1 place to stay if you just need a spot to crash before heading out on your next Halifax adventure. (By the way, if you’re visiting Halifax, what on earth are you doing spending time looking at the 4 walls of your room, anyway?) It’s all a little old school, and the a/c unit roaring all night was just what the doctor ordered (as someone who sleeps with a fan for white noise).

Well we got to the hotel. We waited for quite a while to see about renting a room and had to go into the restaurant to see if anybody worked here and then the person walked away and finally we were able to talk to that person and they said housekeeping went home so we can't rent a room so they don't clean the rooms here. So I give it a big fat zero and that's why it says spend the night not a fortune because you can spend the night just not in their hotel cuz they're not clean Just an observation. I'm not being discriminatory as motels go or hotels go. I don't know if it's a hotel or a motel but I don't want to. Discriminate and there's all these males walking around with their bellies hanging over the front of their shorts and no shirts on. It's not my idea of an attractive looking place to stay. What do you think? Not that I'm against men with a little bit of belly. My dad bods are cool but keep it under a shirt would you?

I booked an 'Executive Double' (2 Double Beds) over 1 month before the actual stay. At check in they told us they only had a single room with 1 bed because they were overbooked. They would only give me a $10 discount. So they charged me the price of a 'Executive Double' room (over $200) but gave an a standard single room. I asked for the Manager to call me back and and left voicemails... Ive heard nothing - terrible customer service. I do not recommend.

Great little inn. Stayed there on separate nights. Restaurant food and prices were amazing.

Currently staying at the motel for one more night. Not at all impressed with the staff. I asked for assistance last evening with hooking my iPad to the tv and was told that is a tech issue and I cannot help. No effort whatsoever. Today I went to the restaurant to borrow a bowl and spoon and staff only offered a disposable very small bowl and refused to give me a regular bowl and spoon. I was surprised at the customer service or lack thereof during this stay. Rooms are nice and clean but this type of treatment by staff will not result in a return visit.

Nestled on the western outskirts of Halifax, Best Western Plus Chocolate Lake Hotel offers a delightful stay with free breakfast and picturesque lake views. The property boasts ample outdoor space, making it an ideal choice for dog owners. Guests can enjoy spacious rooms, a gym, indoor pool, and complimentary breakfast. The hotel's location provides easy access to Downtown Halifax and Dartmouth's vibrant community with cozy cafes and top-notch restaurants.
Pros; Polite friendly staff, Nice updated room. There were a lot of options for TV, allowing people to log in to their streaming platforms, bed was comfy. Breakfast was terrific!! Overall, pretty clean room and hotel and a very quiet area with a lovely view. Cons; Not many pillows when 2 people in the room, bathroom quite small but not much can be done to fix that. The soap and lotion dispenser were empty; rude, noisy neighbours who kept letting their door slam shut very often. I suggest a note on the inside of each door reminding people to be aware and considerate when leaving and entering their rooms. Parking seems limited but there are several parking areas around the property. I’m aware a couple of the issues aren’t in the hotels control. I’d stay here again!!

Great affordable hotel with really friendly service :) we had a nice view of chocolate lake from room 810. The pool was empty and had it to myself! Quite warm too. Clean hotel (they were always cleaning), yummy free breakfast. Also the location was fantastic and quiet, only 7 min to dt. We enjoyed our stay and would be back! 1 star off only because I wish they had a hot tub and the elevator was out of service the whole 3 days we were there so made for long elevator waits but we used the stairs.

The stay was alright. Booked a room with king bed and lake view. The room smelled sorta like feet. Kinda the only way I can explain it lol... Other than that the room was fine and appeared clean. Staff at the front desk/lobby weren't unkind, but they also weren't very friendly either. I wish I'd caught the name of the man that served us at the hotel bar though, he was great! All in all, for Best Western Plus, which is more expensive than a regular best western, I expected more and was pretty let down. Our stay at Best Western (not BW Plus) in Truro was much more enjoyable and cheaper. The room there was bigger, bed was comfier and the staff were more approachable.

If we had received a room on the lake side our review would likely be a 5. But for $325 a view of the parking lot, in these tiny rooms was a tad disappointing. We don’t have time to explore the beautiful lake, pool or pub, but it does look beautiful on the other side and well kept. The hotel although as tiny as humanely possible, at least has had the clever design of adding a small eating area, the tv worked well, there’s an alarm clock, the beds are super comfy with nice fluffy pillows and it’s very clean. I loved that there are no stairs, the black out curtains work well and the A/C is nice and cold. A functional place, well taken care of and easy to check in. Although overly priced, it’s certainly a safe bet.

This was a good stay, but there are a few notable remarks to make. What we liked was it has a great view of Chocolate Lake, and is fairly easy to get right downtown during rush hour. The room was pretty quiet and the restaurant was really good, with a balcony area overlooking Chocolate Lake. The staff was also very pleasant and helpful and easy to find. What we didn't like was the parking lot and features inside. First, the entrance area is very compact. When we first got there, we had to park around back to actually check in, because cars were blocking the entrance in front of the doors. Second, the rooms, though spacious, were a littled outdated (not a big deal), but the crank windows didn't have a screen and a child could easily fall out if opened. We also noticed the hallways (at least on the 9th floor) was rather cold, like they weren't heated (or maybe because of the season they hadn't quite switched on the heat yet as it needed to be cooled during the day. On top of that, the fitness room was a decent size, but they could use some different machines. Fortunately I was the only one in there, but if a second person was there, we would have had to share a lot of the equipment (room was a decent size, but equipment was lacking). Lastly, the elevators are VERY small. We fit my wife, our stroller, and the hotel cart. I could barely fit in once all that was in there and I'm not a big guy. Overall, we would stay here again, but there are a few things to be aware of, especially the window situation for families with small children.

Second time staying at this hotel. We really like it. Rooms are good, breakfast is pretty good, I love the complimentary coffee machine in the lounge. Lots of parking, although limited with parking off the main lobby. Can be tricky leaving depending on the time and direction, as it's close to a busy roundabout. Not a ton in walking distance, but just a few mins drive to many spots in the area. The lake is cute, and quite popular with lots of swimmers.

We had unexpected mechanical issues during our travels and ended up staying in Halifax for 10 days. What could’ve been a stressful detour turned into a genuinely pleasant experience thanks to this property and its wonderful staff. The location backs onto Chocolate Lake, with a peaceful green lawn that’s perfect for relaxing or enjoying the view. It’s truly dog-friendly—our little pup was welcomed with kindness by everyone we met. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable, scenic, and pet-friendly stay in Halifax.

Staff were really friendly and check in/out was super fast. Rooms were nice, good ac, and clean. Our only issue was that our key cards had to be reset 3-4 times during our stay. There aren't a lot of shops/ cafes in walking distance, but its a good location with a car.

Hotel Halifax is a modern business hotel with free WiFi, a restaurant, indoor pool, and meeting spaces. The location is perfect for families as it provides easy access to downtown waterfront, Citadel Hill, Historic Properties, and other tourist attractions. Guests can enjoy the on-site heated pool that opens at 6:00 am and a fully equipped gym. Additionally, the hotel's connection to an indoor walkway makes it convenient for exploring nearby malls and businesses even during bad weather.
I had a delightful two-night stay at this location. The convenient on-site parking was a plus even tho it was paid, and the bar and restaurant were a lifesaver, especially during inclement weather. The staff were pleasant and efficient, and while the rooms were a bit dated, they were spacious and well-maintained, especially considering the price. The hotel had a wonderful ambiance overall. I would recommend it to anyone seeking an affordable option in this area.

The room was likely the best we have stayed in. Comfortable bed. Clean room. Ecstatically it’s dated but ok. The location is perfect. No breakfast included. There is a restaurant (Tempo) on location. there is also a Boston pizza. Right on Barrington st many places to eat. Staff were very friendly. Helpful. It’s not a high end hotel but for a night or two it’s fine. Parking is not free. There is a fee

Had a great stay at hotel Halifax. Yes they are under construction and as a result amenities are unavailable, however our room was freshly renovated with a comfortable bed, beautiful patio with a view of the harbour, and spacious shower. Staff were extremely friendly, providing free coffee and snacks in the lobby as well as bringing us any requested items throughout the stay. Location is great and we would definitely return. Only negative was we found the pillows to be quite bulky and would recommend regular size pillows be provided.
Kelsey D — Google review
It's a decent enough hotel with little to complain about. Staff is always on it, rooms are clean. Just beware that if you're booking through a 3rd party (e.g. Expedia), that the prices are deceptively competitive. This is because Expedia isn't great at communicating about things like parking fees ($25/day) and pet fees ($35).
Joel G — Google review
Hotel is currently being renovated, but everything was still very clean and rooms were great. Staff were also very friendly and recommended some great restaurants and areas to visit.

Wonderful stay at Hotel Halifax. Our room had the King size bed, medium firm. I recommend everyone sleep on a bed like that when away from home. We had the best sleep. I highly recommend booking your next trip here. I also want to appreciate the filtered water stations on each floor. They're very helpful and located near every elevator on each floor. The hotel is situated in an urban environment and perfectly connected to the mall food court and Enterprise Car Rental in the mall, and only just steps away. Very convenient for travelers not wanting to walk around the city with their suitcases looking for car hires.
Mike K — Google review
The rooms are very basic. We stayed in 613. Our toilet was always running and wouldn’t flush properly. There was a huge crack in the tile on the shower, and the shower had stained marks from the shower mat that were permanently there. The carpet had stains and the bed squeaked like crazy. But they had a nice big smart tv that you could cast too and the windows were big and nice. The hotel staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and were quick and efficient. And the location is great for walking distance trips down town.
Shannon W — Google review
Overall, for the price point, can't complain. Staff were great, the restaurant had good food and was reasonably priced. Decent location in terms of being close to the harbour and other tourist attractions. Little tricky getting around due to construction but looks like once that's done it will be great out front. Rooms need updating. Bed was older and not overly comfortable...and small pillows for a king size. Dated decor and a bit musty smelling. A staff member did mention that the place plans on renovating in the future. Hopefully they do. Would have given 5 stars if they modernized abit. Parking garage was tricky at first but once we figured it out, good to go! Would go back in the future if they do end up upgrading the rooms.

The Barrington Hotel is a business hotel located conveniently near the Halifax Citadel and the harbor, making it an ideal choice for both business travelers and tourists. The hotel offers standard rooms with free WiFi, an indoor pool, and a fitness center. Despite the older design of the rooms, guests appreciate the efforts made by the hotel to enhance their stay, such as adding more lights and electrical outlets for convenience. Additionally, this pet-friendly hotel provides spacious and comfortable accommodations for guests traveling with up to two pets.
This hotel has amazing staff! From the front desk, to security to the restaurant. Hands down one of the few places we have stayed where the customer service was outstanding everywhere you turned. For this I give them 5 🌟. We stayed in a king size room. It had a view of the lovely courtyard and was very clean. Highly recommend!

Its OK. Positive - LOCATION, easy to get from. Airport transit, Staff nice and the Restaurant is hopping, Lobby is clean rooms water pressure and shower head great. Negative Rooms are dated, showing major age, mattress were so squeaky and sheets did not fit mattress, major stain bottom side of mattress, no fan in washroom, vents were dirty, Sauna in women's bathroom did not work Its a solid 3 not anymore than that.
Melissa P — Google review
There is definitely a reason this hotel has a no refund policy. It is dated but not in the quaint or charming way, more in the “maybe it has not been updated since the early 90s” way. My room had bugs, which was a nice little surprise I did not ask for. Housekeeping only comes after three days which might be fine if the place felt clean to begin with but it did not. To make it worse the cleaning staff I overheard were loudly complaining about how much they hate cleaning… which is hard to get behind when they only show up once in a five day stay. There is almost no sound proofing. By 6am you are woken up by constant banging, most likely from the GoodLife gym below. Nothing like being forced into early morning cardio without actually working out yourself. No waters were left in the room which is kind of basic hospitality 101. The one bright spot was the front desk staff who were kind and professional. Unfortunately that did not make up for everything else. Overall I would say if you are looking for a restful stay, maybe bring earplugs, cleaning supplies, and a sense of humor. You are going to need all three.
Nicole G — Google review
This was a nice location - close to the water front board walk where lots of restaurants are. Not the best pool area as there is no hot tub and it takes forever for the saunas to heat up and I saw bugs crawling around inside of it. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the lobby restaurant had good dine in food and a nice selection of grab and go options for a quick snack. Shout out to Lisa being a great server at the Tempo restaurant!

Worst experience i have ever had at a hotel. The front desk has zero idea of what they are doing. Took us over an hr waiting on them to figure out our reservation. Zero parking on site and cost almost 50 dollers for 4 hours where they recommend you park. If you have elderly with you drop them off before parking cause you'll do a good 10- plus minute walk from car to hotel. Rooms are extremely outdated. Wallpaper was peeling off. Pool was gross workout room was very tiny, To where only a few people at a time could work out and you would still be in there space. No hot tub. Best thing about this hotel is location. Definitely not worth the 300 plus a night. Look else where cause this place is a serious joke.

Place was nice and the staff were very friendly but the men's sauna wasn't working which was a let down. The rooms are also very old looking, a more modern renovation would be a good idea but overall a great hotel. Staff forgot to empty the compost in our room from the last guest but we appreciated that you actually had compost.

Could catch a peek of the bay, from our room. Walking distance to pier. Spacious room and very comfy. Price reasonable,, considering we were 3 blocks from the pier. Great restaurant attached for breakfasts we had during our stay. Waitress was a charm.

Excellent central location in Downtown but I had no WiFi during 3 of my 4-day stay, for which they only credited $60 to my account as compensation (?) For a hotel charging what they charge they should be putting more dollars back into infrastructure. My room felt outdated, run down and unclean. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful but the internal infrastructure MUST improve (see pictures).

Nestled in downtown Halifax, the Hampton Inn by Hilton offers a modern and vibrant stay with prime views of the harborfront and nearby attractions like the Army Museum Halifax Citadel. The high-rise hotel boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, an indoor pool, fitness center, free breakfast, and WiFi. The contemporary rooms are adorned with lively splashes of color like lime green, blue, and yellow.
Loved our week stay here! Halifax is a beautiful city! Hotel is very convenient to the downtown harbor area. The walk is up and downs hills, so be prepared! Hotel is right next to the historic Citadel! Rooms are nice sized and very clean. Housekeeping staff is incredibly friendly and asks if you require any additional help. Breakfast is different types of eggs, potatoes and meats in addition to waffles and breads. Kitchen staff is friendly and quick to keep items stocked! We saw the Ops Mgr at Breakfast a couple days. He took time to greet guests and offer suggestions on things to see/do. He also had no problem bussing your table! Very impressive touch! Front desk staff is wonderful, greeting guests as they came and left the lobby. Would definitely recommend this property while staying in Halifax which we hope to again soon!

This is a lovely hotel well situated. We stayed for 2 nites. Parking is on site and plentiful. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and spacious. But the star of the show was Hedy our reception person. She was kind, patient, and informative giving us lots of information to make our stay wonderful! Hilton is lucky to have her representing their brand.
Susie C — Google review
The hotel was very clearly understaffed for a high-volume weekend. Even after checking in through the Hilton app we needed to stand in line for 30+ minutes — digital key cards weren’t working. While check in begins at 3pm, rooms were not yet ready at 4pm. Was told it would be a 10 minute wait and we could not get a room key until the room was prepared. Instead we received a key pass for parking and then headed out for dinner. At 5 pm, we then were required to wait in line for another 30 minutes to finally get our room key. As an “apology” for our wait and inconvenience we were given two bottles of water… The next morning, after getting breakfast, our room keys were no longer working. Had to wait another 10 minutes at 8:30 am to have them updated. In addition, I received a call two days prior to our stay that my payment card was not approved and they threatened to cancel my reservation. I rectified this the next morning by calling the front desk. Then while checking in, once again I was told my payment method was rejected. This was frustrating because it becomes questionable when I update my info and they then claim to not have it. For $460 this was the most inconvenient hotel stay ever. Unfortunately, as a high-volume weekend, it was the best price available in the city. Next time I’ll shell out for a better venue.
Christina G — Google review
We just finished the stay at the Hampton Inn. The location is great as it's really close to downtown and a short walk to the waterfront. We had a harbour view room, which was very nice. And the breakfast bar was a nice touch, and the customer service was pretty standard, nothing really above and beyond. As Google states, this is a 3 star hotel. So please set your expectations to match. Unfortunately, our room was not adequately cleaned prior to our stay. When arriving we found a Mike's Hard lemonade can by our bed and old honey roasted peanuts on the floor of the room. Thankfully, no one in our family has a peanut allergy. We mentioned this to reception who was very apologetic and took care of our parking charge for the inconvenience. When we went to use the bathroom, we found pink bacteria growing in the grout and around the corners of the tub. This would mean that the shower and tub have not been cleaned properly for quite sometime, not just 1 or 2 days. That bacteria begins to grow usually after a few weeks. When we went to use the shower, the drain was so clogged that water would rise above my ankles within 1 to 2 minutes. I kept having to stop the shower to let it drain and then restart. The idea of standing in a pool of clogged drain water is absolutely revolting, and I immediately regretted getting in the shower the second the water started to rise. Unfortunately, the bathroom sink is also so clogged that it would not properly drain either. Finally, when my son was using the pool last night there was a used bandaid floating around. This was mentioned to the front desk upon checkout, they apologized and asked to send an email to them so they could advise housekeeping. I have already sent that email. This definitely isn't a hotel that is up to the Hilton standard we've experienced at other locations.

Great hotel. The location is right in the heart of downtown, minutes away from Halifax Citadel. Our room was clean, and the service was great. The free breakfast had a good selection. I would stay here again.

Wow, what a great stay at the Hampton. I’ve stayed in Halifax many times, but never at this chain or location. I was a bit nervous about how the full week would be, and it was amazing. The staff, I can’t say enough wonderful things about the staff. From check in, to breakfast, to check out, and everywhere in between, they were over the top helpful and friendly. When you ask for something, it isn’t just an answer telling you where to look, it’s them helping you find it. A hello is always followed by a ‘how are you doing’. I’d give a special shout out to the building engineer who helped me find the stairs (and had a great chat with me about how important it is to get your steps in). Sir, you have sick ink, and a really kind approach to people. Also, to the check in clerk whose father is a retiring Coastie, you were wonderfully kind, and so helpful! Lastly, the room cleaning crews do an awesome job, some of the cleanest and best turned-over rooms I’ve ever stayed in. 11/10.

Stayed here for 3 nights with a family of 4. Awesome staff, helpful and engaged. Hot breakfast buffet is a worthy incentive, good food which varied each morning, also got a waffle machine if you’re picky. Room is modern, in good condition and well kept. Pool is clean and maintained but can get quickly crowded (its small). Gym has a good variety of equipment, no bench press if thats your thing. Parking can be a bit of an issue, if you get a rental make sure you talk with reception desk for arrangements depending on your needs. Location is good with walking distance to everything downtown. 5 min walk to the bus terminal for the 320 regional express that travels between the airport if you want to save $50 on uber/taxi (buy tickets on the hfxgo app - make sure you get the regional express ticket) All in all great hotel would definitely recommend.

Awful hotel. The toilet is off the flange shaking. It's like sitting on a rocking boat. The air conditioner seemed noisy, and being an hvac professional , I had a look. The filter in the unit, has not been changed since December of 2024. It is now the 31st of August, 2025. The filter in that unit should be changed every 3 months at the very maximum. Its is clogged solid, and disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. Hotel front desk told me there is nothing they could do for us, and the filter can not be changed until the next day, after our checkout. Stay somehere else.

We arrived around 1045 PM as we had attended the Royal Tattoo in Halifax. Check in was smooth. Hotel is a little tired and needs a hug. Rooms were okay but did not meet our expectations at all given the price. Place is a little worn and dirty for our liking. Our bedding had some minor stains and the skirt was ripped! We do not recommend this place nor would we return. Our AC in the room drowned out the TV leaving you a choice of cool temps or entertainment. The hotel in need of some overdue service. Not the hotels fault but we felt the air outside smelled a lot like an open sewer or even sewage..

A nice hotel that we stayed in for an early flight out the next day. Check in was easy and straightforward. Room keys worked without a hitch and we had adjoining rooms with my brothers family so we were able to hang out together for a bit. Room was clean, washrooms clean and they did have the toilet and bath separate from the sink area so you can get ready while someone else occupies the other area. Beds were comfy enough but the one big complaint is the wifi. For a nicer looking hotel, the wifi was extremely bad. Parking was easy even when we checked in later on in the evening. The front of the hotel gets filled quickly but once you go around the back, it was pretty easy to find spots. Good job

Good for spending a night near the airport when having a transfer. Rooms spacious enough, but hotel could need some improvement. Breakfast was not good organized (the one included in the price was rather poor). Airport shuttle was very good organized.

PROS -It's right next to the airport -The aviation museum is walkable and right next to the hotel (and very cool) -The beds in the rooms are unbelievably comfortable. -Has an indoor AND outdoor pool -Cheaper than every nearby hotel -Free coffee in the lobby all day -Microwave in room -Restaurant inside the hotel (but doesn't serve breakfast) CONS -The free, included breakfast isn't good (no meat, pretty sure they were real eggs but egg-substitute?) -The gym is 90% broken machines That being said, I'd definitely stay here again.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room, not so much. The bathroom was unclean, water pressure was low, towels were unclean, and the shower, toilet was split with the sink on the other side of the room. 🥴 Parking lot was not only full, the management of cars was crazy. The room key card didn't work several times, staff had to come to open the door. Three times. The location is quite far from Halifax. Bear that in mind when booking your trip or planning itinerary.

We had a suite on the 12th floor. Great size with awesome views, though you can basically see directly into other people’s condos across from you, so they can see you too. But was not a deal breaker. Everything was clean and smelled good. Bed was comfortable, along with the pillows and blanket. We did not use the pool, but did see it and looked usable and clean. Gym was decent. Staff was helpful and friendly, parking expensive but worth it since can walk to downtown fairly easy( very hilly lol). Overall a good experience. Only complaint would be single ply toilet paper… when spending this kinda money now a days, give me the good stuff lol.

We checked into this hotel on July 7th - we were initially in room 1205, and then moved to 1605. Our first room was in rough shape. It looked as though it hadn’t been vacuumed in quite some time - fluffs and other debris all over the carpet. The sofa, walls and just about every other surface was covered in stains. The tub didn’t drain, the tub walls and caulking were red with mildew, which made the bathroom stink. There’s dirt in all the corners of the bathroom. We let the front desk know this, and they moved us to room 1605 - we made the move around 7:30pm - but this room is basically the same as the first. There’s a smeared pizza stain on the ottoman. The bathroom is once again covered in mildew and the tub doesn’t drain, again. This one somehow smells worse. The mildew / damp smell spreads out into the bedroom, so enjoy relaxing in bed with that smell. We would have left, but we’re travelling with a 2yr old and getting her up and finding another hotel at night is an ordeal. The desk was willing to move us, but ultimately seemed pretty indifferent and said to not be surprised if there were more stains in 1605, as it’s an old hotel. Those are just the rooms - the pool is in need of serious renovations, and needs someone working down there. We went to swim with our toddler and the pool deck was a mess - old towels all over the floor, hair everywhere, all kinds of junk floating in the pool, no fresh towels in sight. The doors down there are all rusted, there’s no fresh air at all - it all feels oppressive and like you might catch something. The elevators are beat up, with panels falling off. This place needs some major, major renovations to not feel like a dump. It would be great if that happened - the views and location are very, very good - in the 05 rooms you can see the harbour, and I think some of the rooms have a view of the Citadel. It’s just the hotel part that isn’t good. The older, negative reviews have lots of talk like “rest assured, we will address these deficiencies” - but those date back to 2022, 2023 - in 2025, it appears those have not been addressed at all. Update: We ended up leaving the following morning and finding somewhere else. For this price, you’d expect something decent. This is worse than a roadside motel in the middle of nowhere.

We booked suite 1606 with 2 bedrooms and living room. Both bedrooms were quite large, 1 with a king bed and the other with 2 queens. Both had their own bathrooms. Spectacular waterviews, suite 1606. 3 tv's and a small kitchen with kuerig type coffee machine. There is also a sleeper sofa. Breakfast included with things like eggs, ham, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, selection of pastries. Front desk staff were very helpful and professional.

Wow it’s our first time in Halifax. Our hotel is 45 min drive from airport. Well organized, clean and friendly staff. Eleanor was an absolutely delightful lady at the breakfast dining. I had some questions of what to do, where to dine , sights to see for our first visit here. Eleanor made great recommendations for my family. Breakfast was so yummy. Highly recommend you and your family stay here. Having a kitchen is great in your room.

The pool was freezing. The breakfast buffet was limited. Most hotels give you a bottle of water for free. This hotel charges $2.50 per bottle in your room. Despite it being $541 for 1 night. Not great. Even as a Hilton Honours Member. Parking was easy, location to the airport was convenient.

I had a terrible experience with this hotel. I booked in advance and specifically chose it because I needed to be downtown Halifax for evening events and early morning meetings. I flew in, paid $60 for a long Uber ride, and arrived only to be told my reservation had been moved, without notice, to their sister hotel near the airport, far outside the city core. Staff were unhelpful and seemed overwhelmed. The manager conveniently disappeared and never reappeared. Other guests were dealing with the same issue, while people checking in after us were somehow being given rooms, which made no sense. They offered me a cab voucher but completely ignored the larger issue: that I flew in for something important and they moved my reservation without consent to a completely different location. I ended up missing most of the event I came to Halifax for. Even trying to cancel the new booking was a painful process. I won’t be staying at this hotel or recommending Hilton properties in the future.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights! We enjoyed how spacious the suite was including the large TV and couch. We also appreciate the location of the hotel making the city walkable. It's close to the Citadel and Boardwalk. The continental breakfast also had a lot of variety. We'd stay here again if we were visiting Halifax!

Our party of 4 stayed at this hotel for 6 nights, we constantly had to get housekeeping to bring us towels and replenish supplies for 4 as they kept only leaving supplies for 3 people. The sofa bed was old and stained and uncomfortable and the chairs in the kitchen were also stained and dirty. The lights in the bedroom does not work, we were told someone would come to repair, this did not happen. The positive was the staff responded promptly, however it's not within their control to upgrade and replace stained and uncomfortable furniture. Parking was also bad..it's on a 1st come basis.

Garden South Park Inn is a relaxed Victorian B&B located in the historic North End neighborhood of Halifax. The area offers a vibrant district with boutique shops, restaurants, live music venues, and colorful local bars. The inn provides simply furnished rooms with old world charm in the common areas and comfortable amenities including free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast. Guests can enjoy free parking on site and accommodating staff who ensure a pleasant stay. It's recommended to book directly with the inn for good rates.
Needed operation (detached eye retina) at hospital directly across the road from this B&B. Price for room was graciously reduced since we were staying purely for convenience of operation and follow up next day. Love everything about this place. Very homey establishment. Have owned a hundred year old house and grown up with 2 brothers and 2 sisters, this place felt like a home away from home. Being hers the week of Christmas, it was nice seeing the many ornaments and the fresh snow outside. Everyone's friendly, from staff to fellow patrons. The highlight of my stay was the shower experience. First time having shower head on front AND shower directly overhead. There's a control that allows user to have both showers working at once, individually or not at all. Didn't even mind that curtain had two rungs missing. Both my lovely wife Pat and i love this place. ❤️

We did a 1 night stay here for a concert. Lovely historical building, front desk staff were great. Our room was very clean and accommodating. Our room had a rainfall shower head and a regular one which was amazing. Great price and comfort. I noticed they were well equipped for accessible needs guests. We will stay again, the only thing that could make this place better is if they were pet friendly as I typically travel with my 2 cats.

Our stay at the Garden South Park Inn was excellent, due largely to the wonderful customer service! Every staff member was incredibly kind and helpful with wonderful recommendations and friendly conversation. The room was absolutely beautiful and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We found the location to be excellent as well. We took an Uber to the waterfront for under $10 CAD and also walked to Stillwell Beer Garden one evening. Breakfast was described as continental but I’d say it was more like ’continental plus’ because, beyond lovely muffins, bagels, toast, and cereals, they offered hard boiled eggs, deli meats, cheese and crackers, yogurt and fruit. The coffee was also delicious. One note is that parking is an extra charge and not guaranteed, so one night we parked on the street for under $10 CAD and the second night we parked in the lot for $15 CAD. (Yes, this was more but we didn’t have to be concerned about adding more money to the app or moving the car at a certain time.) Overall, an excellent stay in Halifax at the Garden South Park Inn! We would definitely recommend it.

Clean, simple, very affordable. Bed was not super comfortable but i’ve seen worse in fancier places. Breakfast was included and did the trick. Really they are really well located if you’re visiting Halifax for a few days on a budget. Decor is giving funky grand-ma but in a good cosy way. Try to get a room on the upper floors, avoid the basement for a less depressing view.

Nice old building from the outside. Good service.friendly people. Nice and clean. Limited parking. Small room with outdated and broken furniture. Couldn't use the closet our the dresser.closet doors were stuck and dresser drawers were falling apart. Bathroom floor and sink were cracked Didn't eat breakfast because we had to leave early. It would be easy to restore the furniture, but it needs to be done. As for the price it was more expensive than at most best western. We took this room without looking at the reviews because we needed to get to the airport early in the morning. Very disappointing.

Lovely old building not far from downtown and everything else. Good breakfast, everybody was extremely friendly and helpful, rooms were not super modern but clean and everything was working. Fridge is a plus as well.

On a roadtrip across the east coast, stayed here for one night with the purpose to walk down to the Halifax boardwalk. The service was very friendly for check in. Sadly we found the hotel very outdated and old for the price. This was the most expensive stay on our 9 day trip. Our room had old office chairs and a dinner fold out table for a night stand. Also the bed was a very old spring bed. We are not picky at all, just were surprised with the price for what we got.

A real bargain— lovely rooms, free parking (though spaces are limited and first-come, first-serve), basic breakfast included. The staff were so helpful about letting me borrow glassware and dishes for eating in, allowing me to use the common areas after checkout (I had a late flight) and recommending local sights and dining. Great location for visiting Dalhousie— a ten minute walk to campus.

The Waverley Inn is a charming 19th-century retreat located just a short distance from the waterfront and Halifax Seaport Farmers Market. This historic landmark, originally built in 1866, offers 34 individually decorated rooms with vintage charm. Some rooms feature four-poster beds, whirlpool baths, and Victorian antiques while providing modern amenities for a comfortable stay. The inn exudes an old-world opulence that transports guests to another era.
Great location. Rooms are not big but very comfortable and clean. Property has so much characteristics. I also especially liked the snack table with tea/ coffee always available. Walls may be a little thin due to property being historic but the clientele isn’t of partying nature so it was not a problem. Unfortunately property has no elevator so it’ll be hard for those that have trouble carrying their luggage upstairs?

Beautiful inn, with lots of old decor, and chilled out atmosphere. The reception staff were all exceptional, and they were helpful with every request. They let us keep our rental parked on our last day after check-out while we walked around Halifax before our flight. Breakfast in the basement was good! The rooms could use a touch of minimalism to make them more comfortable, and the air conditioning units could use an update. Aside from that, we would stay here again, and recommend that you check it out!

This was not the hotel I picked for my trip to Halifax but my husband talked me into it and I'm so glad he did!! The staff have all been amazing and the place is absolutely beautiful. My room is small but cozy and has everything I need. The bed is almost comfier than my own. The attention to detail is spectacular, the furniture and decorations are so beautiful, you really feel like you've stepped back in time. And the water pressure in the showers is actually really good. Normally I have a horrible time with hotel showers and, because of the age of the building, I was expecting it to be just as bad if not worse than normal but it was on par with my shower at home. Small thing but it makes a huge difference. I will definitely be back.

It was a charming historical house. The bed was comfortable but the room may feel small for people who are used to a big hotel chain. I love the architectural details in the house. Breakfast was great. It is walking distance to Halifax waterfront. Be prepared to walk up and down hills. Lovely stay. Also, free parking.

Very regal but cozy. Rooms were comfy and we'll appointed...but the great thing is the entire building oozes history. The folks running the Inn were polite, helpful and knowledgeable. It is supposed to be haunted and you get the feeling the eyes in the paintings are following you. Great place, great location, good parking and a very reasonable price.

The Waverley Hotel definitely has a lot of character and charm. Decor is decidedly Victorian, which means that it is by no means modern but we enjoyed our stay nevertheless. Despite being on the smaller side, our room had cute little touches and was very comfortable. Similarly, the hallways are decorated with interesting relics and antiques. The location is great...everything we wanted to see and do was only a ten or fifteen minute walk away, and the waterfront boardwalk is even closer. The complementary self-serve buffet breakfast is served in the dining room on the lower floor, with a mostly continental offering plus a few hot items like ham, beans, and hash browns. The on-site parking is extremely convenient. We only stayed one night but would have booked a longer stay if possible.

The hotel has a 1942 feel about it which I think is intended. Very polite and helpful staff. Rooms are clean and tidy, bathroom was basic but clean and ok. Could have tea making facilities in the room which would be nice(can get tea etc from the lobby to take back up to your room). Breakfast was in the basement had a small but good selection of food. Also had off street parking. Ok place to stay with a small walk to restaurants and bars.

Nestled in Fergusons Cove, just 20 minutes outside Halifax, Star of the Sea Bed & Breakfast is a charming 19th-century retreat offering stylish rooms and suites. The property, housed in the historic Stella Maris Chapel dating back to 1864, boasts breathtaking ocean views from its deck and heated pool. Simply AMAZING - the views of ocean & relaxation factor could not get any better. Calming atmoshpere from minute you entered. Only three suites allows you to feel as if you have place to yourself. Views from two decks, with outdoor furniture, are simply breathtaking as you felt the ocean breezes. Sailboats & cruise ships were seen daily. Spacious rooms; large comfortable bed, with sitting areas + breakfast bar. Bathrobes & pool towels provided . Delicious homemade breakfasts delivered to your room were wonderful to wake up to. Hosts, Eva & Tom, were gracious; very helpful in suggestions of what to experience-- Wine country, Bay of Fundy, Halifax etc.. Every detail in comfort & decor were well thought out & waiting for your visit. We travel to boutique B&Bs a lot; this is a hidden gem. The beauty & relaxation of Star of the Sea B&B is 10 Stars. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Called to speak to the establishment's management/owners before an upcoming trip 9/21/2025, spoke to Eva who became frustrated with my questions about the establishment when I asked what to expect before our arrival. She told me, "look at our website, my response, "i'm asking questions based on your website and reviews". Conversation did not go well, needless to say, I am thankful for the call before a bad experience.

Amazing place to stay, highly recommend! The views and room itself set the vibe for our trip. We were able to have an ocean view breakfast each morning (the breakfasts that the hosts make were unbelievable). It is so charming, modern, yet holds history in the building. My mom and I just returned from a three night stay at Star of the Sea, and we are already dreaming of returning! From reading a book on the gorgeous balcony overlooking the ocean to enjoying a delicious meal in our beautiful room while watching the many birds flying around, we had the most wonderful and relaxing time! Eva and Tom are kind and fantastic hosts, the breakfasts were delicious, and the room (we stayed in the McNab Room) was spacious and incredibly comfortable. Thank you for such a wonderful vacation, and we can’t wait to come back!

Star of the Sea B&B is a dreamer's retreat, beautifully designed and wonderfully cozy. Eva & Tom are amazing hosts who have put a lot of work into their business. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in the "Northwest Arm" suite, with the MOST comfortable king bed ever. Gorgeous views of the ocean from our little reading nook. The guest areas include an upper patio, and a heated pool. We tried as many of the breakfasts as we could (yogurt parfait, German breakfast, waffles, over easy eggs & bacon) and ALL were delicious. The location is a bit of a drive (about 20 min) to downtown Halifax, but we chose this place for that reason. It is an idyllic retreat away from the loud hustle & bustle of the city. We hope to be back again in the future.

Amazing experience among the fall leaf colors and perfect weather. The public gardens are exceptional given Halifax’s size, and well worth the visit. Lovely atmosphere. A lot of children, making noise, on Sunday afternoon, but some portion is dedicated as quiet area so it is convenient to read quietly. I did feel a bit of limitation in the collection, especially study books but lots of novel and children books are available. The exciting part was to find the multicultural books, in local languages.

I love going to this library to study, do coursework, hangout with friends, and of course, look for any books that catch my eye. The building itself is beautiful; it has a great view with lots of space and so many books to choose from! I love coming here anytime I need to catch up on homework and even just to sit down with a coffee to read for a bit. It’s both relaxing and has a gorgeous view from the higher up floors. Even at certain times when the library may start to get a bit busy/loud, I just simply move to another area or a different floor and then it’s perfectly fine. I highly recommend coming here to anyone, whether for books or for other uses like studying!

Best place to work around Halifax for free wifi and space, with plugs and closed semi closed cubicles as well. If you are a gamer just get your steam id or Roblox and play hardcore games. get some bottle for water (cups at main). I did build a saas-application sitting at this table. So basically a very good space to think and work productively.

"A modern book citadel" From the outside the building looks modern and very beautiful, but when I first came in I didn’t expect that I would be surprised inside either. An intersection of stairs, a protruding reading zone on the top floor, a small cafeteria and an exit to the roof (closed in winter) next to it. An unusual library style for me. Just like in the library not far from our house, there are computers to sit and do your business. Computers to register/check your profile and books with different languages, various rooms for classes, including small rooms that can be occupied for some kind of meeting I assume. Everything is in greater volume than in other branches... and of course a lot more books. This place was a little disconcerting in a pleasant way. And of course the staff here is very polite and pleasant to talk to.

A very nice place for a quiet walk. There are many places to sit. Very comfortable paths for jogging or walking the dog. Cyclists are permitted to ride on designated trails during Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. My wife and I came here when it was drizzling and a bit "stormy" near the shore, but it was even cool. Very nice and pleasant sea air. There are several small parking lots near entrances to the park. Several interesting historical places and monuments. Overall, a great place, I recommend visiting if you really have at least an extra 3 hours.

Nice stop when visiting Point Pleasant Park but not a must see thing when in Halifax. If you have spare time, this is a good place for a nice walk or for a run. You can also bring food and have a picnic or if you have a dog, this is a perfect friendly park to walk dogs. There is no restaurant or cafe inside the park so make sure to bring your own food and drinks if you plan to do a lot of walking. They have portalet washroom all over the park which is good for emergency use :) You can take a bus to go here, but you still have to walk about 15 minutes to get inside the park. The bus do not enter inside the park itself.

This park is gorgeous and very big. There is plenty of wheelchair parking. It's easy to stroll around in a wheelchair and even better on a bicycle. Be prepared to sweat up and down the multiple walkways if walking. The waterfront view goes on for quite the kilometers. The same is true with the forest scenery. The historical sites are interesting. There are benches and tables to sit and enjoy a picnic. The bathroom facilities could be better taken care of, as they're quite smelly and poorly maintained. I recommend visiting this park if you want to just relax and let your eyes enjoy the beauty of nature.

Farmers Markets
The Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market is a vibrant covered marketplace where locals and visitors alike can explore a diverse array of vendors offering fresh produce, gourmet foods, plants, handicrafts, and more. This bustling market attracts a multicultural crowd and provides an excellent opportunity for style watching, showcasing unique fashion trends with confidence. With close to a million annual visitors, it's a popular destination in the city.
I would say that this is not a small but not a big farmers market too. There are definitely a lot of interesting vendors here tho. We found good contacts for two farms to buy fresh products and took a couple of interesting unique products invented by the vendors themselves. In addition to food, there are many ordinary items, like souvenirs so you definitely can find something interesting here on your taste... both literally and figuratively. There is a large parking area, which is free on weekends.

The port of Halifax in general is an amazing place to visit. Many different dining options and beautiful views of a very busy harbour. The Maritimes museum on the boardwalk is well worth a visit as is the immigration museum at Pier 21. Parking for the farmers market and pier 21 is available at lot D across the road. Parking cost is 12$ per day but you can also choose the hours you wish. Pay by debit or credit card at the provided terminals which are well marked. The lots are patrolled and tickets are issued for non payments or over hours .

As a vendor it is awesome, love meeting new customers. There is a great variety of fresh and cooked goods along with homemade artisan products for all ages. A great opportunity to come and support local while having a uniquely wonderful shopping experience. All the vendors there are fantastic!

The Halifax Seaport Market was enjoyable to visit, lots of friendly vendors, good local products, and a nice waterfront atmosphere. I liked it overall, but I was expecting it to be a bit bigger with more variety. Still worth checking out if you’re nearby, especially for a quick stroll and a bite to eat!

I've been to NovaBunsik and had such an amazing BBQ chicken bun I've ever had! This BBQ chicken bun tasted like something from a fine dining restaurant, and the ingredients inside were incredibly tender and delicious. My son even ate two! The staff here made their own sauces, which really enhanced the flavor, and some other menu which we tried were excellent as well.

Nestled in the heart of Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Old Town Clock stands as a cherished emblem of the city’s rich maritime history and architectural diversity. Erected in 1803 as a thoughtful gift from Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, this iconic clock tower was designed to help local soldiers manage their time better. Perched atop Citadel Hill, it not only serves as a historical monument but also provides breathtaking views over Halifax's vibrant downtown and its expansive harbor.
A beautiful historic landmark right in the heart of Halifax! The view from here is great, and it’s a perfect spot for photos. Easy to access and no wait. A must-see if you’re exploring the city!
Nabi Y — Google review
We didn't get the chance to visit here, due to the heavy traffic and tourists but I still got a good glimpse of the famous architecture. Driving down Brunswick Street, there's a lot of parking but it gets filled pretty fast by late morning due to visitors. It's free to visit, and an important icon to Halifax. I recommend seeing the Old Town Clock, if you ever get the chance to while visiting Halifax!

An iconic Halifax landmark! The Old Town Clock is beautiful and makes for a fantastic photo. A must-see on your way up to Citadel Hill. Truly a timeless piece of the city's charm.
Tario S — Google review
The Town Clock on Citadel Hill is one of Halifax’s most iconic landmarks, and a key feature of the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site. I passed by it on my way up to the Citadel entrance, and it immediately caught my attention. The structure is elegant and striking, perched prominently on the hillside overlooking downtown Halifax. Its classic Georgian design and pale blue façade make it stand out against the landscape, almost like a sentinel watching over the city. Commissioned in 1800 by Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, the clock was intended to promote punctuality among the local garrison stationed at the Citadel. It began operating in 1803 and has been keeping time ever since, making it one of the oldest functioning clocks in Canada. The building itself is a three-tiered octagonal tower, and its elevated position offers stunning panoramic views of the city, the harbour, and the Atlantic horizon. At the base of the hill, you’ll find interpretive panels that explain the clock’s history, how it was built, why it was placed there, and its role in Halifax’s development. It’s a great spot to pause, take in the scenery, and appreciate how this timepiece has quietly marked the rhythm of the city for over two centuries. If you're visiting Halifax, the Town Clock is a must-see. Whether you're into history, architecture, or simply want a beautiful vantage point, this landmark delivers on all fronts.

Lovely historic place especially with lots of history, information, preservation of this historic monument especially with 1812 war that happened before Canada was born. I highly recommend this place to visit especially with the gun salute the happens everyday at noon.

The Halifax Old Town Clock is located as part of the Fort George / Halifax Citadel. It was originally opened in 1803 and has gone through several restorations since then. You can spot this from many angles. Didn't seem like you could go inside or really find out much more about it.
Mat B — Google review
Great spot and easily one of the most well-known places in the city. I come here to take a few photos every time I'm in the city. I am unsure of you can actually go inside at certain times, but the area is right downtown and on Citadel Hill so it's a phenomenal location. Lots to see, lots to do and lots to eat.

The old town clock is the most recognized landmarks in the historic urban core of Halifax. This place is beautiful 🤩 and surrounded with grass. A lot of place to sit with friends, family and alone. A road goes behind the clock. One can park the vehicle and sit for sometime 😎. I didn't find anything to do there. But i will suggest to visit to this place for once 😃

Burntcoat Head Park, located in the Bay of Fundy, offers a unique dining experience on the ocean floor during low tide. The event includes a foraging excursion, a seafood lunch, and a guided tour of the park. Guests can enjoy a three-course dinner with local wine and beer pairings while watching the tide come in, followed by a campfire on the tidal flats.
A great place. Both for a picnic, when you can make a place for it during the low tide, and also for a simple walk along the bottom of the Bay. And when the tide is in, it's quite interesting to sit and watch the water and drink coffee. It sounds like something boring, but I was interested in watching how the water gradually reclaims all the cracks and stones on the bottom. It takes a lot of time, so if you choose the right time to visit, you can enjoy both low tide and high tide. There is also a small shop in the lighthouse building, where you can also try cookies and apple cider on the floor above. And look at the surrounding places from the top floor, through the windows of the lighthouse. There is a big parking lot for such a small park here too. The only thing I didn't like was the three speed bumps in front of the park. I jokingly told my wife that this would be a good reason not to come here anymore, so as not to experience this inconvenience again (they are very high).

So happy to find this place by chance while on our way to Cape Breton. We spent about 3 hours wandering the place, taking photos and just enjoying the area. When we arrived, it was high tide. About 45 mins later, it was low tide and we were able to walk on the ocean floor. What a great experience! The climb up to the lighthouse was interesting and you will get a 360 view on the place. Definitely worth the stop!
Sandra L — Google review
Mesmerizing place! A stroll in ocean bed is worth alongside of flowerpot in Burnt coat during the low tide. We reached early morning when none was around and the tide was to its lowest. Felt in love with giant red blocks, shades of greens, gave a tranquility, the sounds of waves, birds chirps added flavour. However, the Ocean bed was mildly slippery, any anti slippery footwear's would be great to for use. If you are visiting plan based on tides schedule, helps to enjoy both low and high tide. There is a tap and brush nearby stairs to clean the footwear. Restroom, gift shop and lighthouse are operational between 9am to 5pm.
Mona R — Google review
Incredible views. We checked the tide schedule before we left . We got there at the beginning of the six hour window where you can explore the ocean floor. Saw hermit crabs, sea weed lots of shells and scenery was beautiful. Very muddy in parts watch your step!!
Anne A — Google review
One of the best places to see both high and low tides. Ample parking with clean washrooms (9-5). Has a diaper changing table as well! The viewpoint is 2 minutes away from the parking lot. Better take a boot if you are interested to walk on the ocean floor.
Rashed E — Google review
Beautiful place. Very important to wear proper shoes when going down the stairs. There is water to wash shoes off. Benches to sit and enjoy the view, plaques with explanations and informations. Lighthouse can be entered during certain time and climb up. Big gravel parking lot, with designated RV parking. Washrooms available and a little gazebo to sit and enjoy. Lots of green space to have Picknicks. Dog friendly, just keep on leash and clean up after them. Watch the apple trees. As nice as they are apples are falling and “could” maybe hit your head.
Marie — Google review
Burntcoat Head Park is absolutely a gem place. Make sure you check the tide timings before you plan your trip. Although it’s recommended to visit both during low and high tide I would recommend to visit during low tide to experience the ocean floor. The walk on the ocean floor is a classic muddy adventure and you get the real feel of how those Guinness record tides can make the floor look. It’s guaranteed that your footwear will be a mess if you wish to go down. There is lot of information about the park on their website and also live web cameras which you can access anytime. Also a lighthouse. Good washrooms. Tons of parking available. Make sure to carry your own food and water if you wish to spend a complete day!
Cyrus A — Google review
This place is a gem! A once in a lifetime experience to explore the ocean floor during low tide. We saw lots of tiny shells, sea snails, barnacles and kelp. The trail to the ocean floor is short and very easy to follow. Tips: check out the official tide schedule on the website and come during low tide, pack food and water, and don’t expect to spend too much time in the lighthouse as there is no air circulation and it’s super hot and stuffy at the top. Also bring water shoes.

Museums
The Museum of Natural History, established in 1868, offers a captivating exploration of Nova Scotia's natural history. Visitors can enjoy interactive exhibits and live animals while delving into the province's geological past, indigenous Mi'kmaq artifacts, and marine life. The museum features a diverse range of permanent installations including a whale skeleton, Mi'kmaq artifacts, and displays on Sable Island's shipwrecks and wild horses.
The kids (12,10, 7 years old) were completely engaged and happy the entire visit. We fell in love with Gus and had a sweet and informative chat with his outside watcher that day. All of the resident animals were a hit, really. Great stop!

Absolutely wonderful experience! Came here with my sister and we spent so much time at the natural living habitat exhibitions at the front that we didn’t realize there was so much more to the museum. It is massive, larger than you would think, and provide very immersive experiences in different ways throughout the sections.

We visited the Museum of Natural History on October 26, 2025, and had an absolutely wonderful experience! The museum was hosting a special Halloween event that day, and it was fantastic — full of creativity, fun activities, and festive decorations that both kids and adults enjoyed. The exhibits were engaging and educational as always, offering something interesting for every age group. Although the museum doesn’t have its own dedicated parking, there are several paid public parking options conveniently located right next to the museum, which made our visit smooth and hassle-free. Overall, it was a delightful day filled with learning and celebration — highly recommended for families and anyone who loves exploring nature and history!

Nature & Parks
McNabs Island, located in Halifax Harbour, is a secluded parkland accessible by water taxi. The island offers nature trails, tours of historic forts, and abundant wildlife. With over 200 bird species and various animals like rabbits, squirrels, deer, and coyotes, the island provides a unique natural experience. Once settled in the 1780s but abandoned since World War II, it now houses abandoned military forts and remnants of human habitation.
This is a great affordable family adventure. It's easy to access... just hop a boat ride from fisherman's cove in Eastern Passage. The cost is around 20.00 for 4 pple. The boat drops you off at one end, and the friendly captain gives you lots of instructions and a map on how to get to your pick up point. You will experience old military structures, beaches, wildlife and 3 large lovely abandoned homes. The whole hike takes about 1.5-2 hours to complete. Highly recommend.

This place is tough, rough terrain, lots of rocks and at the shire is windy. But if you're searching for adventure thus might be the place. You can take some of the trails and walk for hours just admiring the views. Take care with the animals and you're good to go.
Rix M — Google review
We went on an all day tour with Friends of McNabs Island. This is a non-profit, volunteer, registered charity that works to help preserve the historical sites on the island. Pick up was 9:30 at Eastern Passage and where on the island by 10 hiked almost 10 miles (9.7 by cellphone tracker). It was a warm day although the ocean breeze kept it comfortable for most of the time. There is no where to make any purchases on the island so take what you need for food and water. The island has some hills so it is more of a hike than a walk. The water taxi picked us up at about 3:30 and we were back to Eastern Passage by about 4. Fantastic tour, knowledgable guides and the group of about 25 was just about the perfect size, tons of history, and local stories.

Halifax City Hall, a stunning Victorian edifice completed in 1890, proudly stands at the northern edge of Grand Parade Square, which has been the city's vibrant public space since its establishment in 1749. This historic square was originally designed for military drills and parades and is now surrounded by notable landmarks like St. Paul's Anglican Church to the south and a cenotaph honoring World War veterans at its center.
Very old building that maintains a piece of history on the north side. The clock on the north side is stopped at the time the Halifax Explosion occurred back on December 6th 1917. Also the building is really beautiful and great for pictures

Very nice old building - Halifax City Hall It’s very cool when such buildings remain in the history of their city and are maintained in good condition. From time to time this building is illuminated with different light themes, or some event takes place in front of it. Not 5 stars just because I haven't opportunity to come in and review it's inner corridors and rooms.
Alexandr O — Google review
The city planning is horrible. 1. Streets are extremely narrow. 2. Two Ports are situated in the city so expect trucks in downtown. For a trucker to get to any of the ports is a nightmare. 3. Tolls are making money. 4. The only positive thing is that the nicest people live here which has not much to do with the city administration (decision makers, city planners).

Hemlock Ravine Park, located in Halifax, is a 200-acre nature park known for its heart-shaped pond and ancient hemlock trees. The park offers 4 kilometers of looped trails, some of which are designated as off-leash areas for dogs. Visitors can enjoy the shade provided by the towering hemlocks while taking leisurely walks or going for a jog. The famous Heart Shaped Pond, built by Prince Edward for his love, Madame Julie de St.

Hemlock Ravine Park is a hidden gem for nature lovers. The trails are well-kept and lead you through serene forest areas filled with towering hemlock trees. It’s a great spot for casual hikes, dog walks, or simply enjoying some quiet time in nature. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy some natural beauty close to Halifax.
Ali H — Google review
Been a while since I have been here, but positively surprised that the parking lot is now paved and spots marked with lines. Before that, I always wondered what people were thinking when parking, as so much space was wasted. Very nice now, even designated motorcycle parking. No designated RV parking, and unless it is a Van, I do now recommend driving up here. Not much space to turn around when parking lot is full, and narrow road. Lots of different hikes, for different needs. Short , or long by combining a few. Signage indicating which trail you are on and where you are, as well as when the dog leash area starts and stops. Very quiet, and mostly gravel paths, very easy to walk. Lots of shade thanks to the trees, unless it’s a hot summer day, maybe bring a light sweater. Bring bug spray! Benches with garbage bins spread out during the park. No washrooms or stores nearby. People live along the road, and I have seen busy days where parking was full, and people just parked in front of people’s houses or drive ways. Don’t do that!
Marie — Google review
I like this spot and really enjoyed the nature here. The trail was not very long but good enough for small hiking. It was my first time there and I was expecting to see more natural views. All the scenes were the same but still had a good time. Was super busy when we got there... seems like it’s a super popular place for everyone. This park is not very far from my home so probably will go back sometimes!
Carrie G — Google review
Great little walking path. Met a few very well behaved dogs on the off leash section. Maintained well, very safe easy walk. The duck pond was super cute too.
Tracey C — Google review
The trails look like looping around but they are not always. Well marked at turns and joints of the paths, but it's quite easy yet tempting to go off the trail. During summer time, walking with the brook babbling in the background can be very soothing. While during the winter season, trails are not under maintenance, so always put on the proper hiking boots for the ice and/or stumps.
Jolly R — Google review
A very enjoyable walk/hike for pets, kids and adults. There are plenty of hills but also different trail options depending on your preference. On and off-leash areas are marked (although most dogs are off leash throughout) and there are a few benches near the parking lot by the pond. Parking is limited so arrive early and if headed there in the winter, I'd suggest packing a pair of crampons as the hills can be very icy.
Katie E — Google review
Nice park for a hike in the woods. Just small trails and woods, nothing else. So, came prepared because there's no washroom neither water (at least where we went). There is a good size of it where you can take your fur off leash. Lots of ups and downs for a good exercise. It is close to a school so your kid can have some fun before or after the walk. Really quiet. Be aware of the mosquitoes too, there is a lot of them.

With abundant fish in the lakes and a peaceful winter atmosphere, Long Lake is the perfect place to enjoy both nature and history. A true gem for locals and city guests.

Great provincial park for any daily activity. It isnt a small area or lake either. I've enjoyed paddleboarding and dog walking there this summer. The water is not cold to me (Alberta girl here) so I'm often on my board until we'll after 6pm. I've been told to always wear water shoes in this lake due to lost of old fishing lines etc in the water. So I do that.

A very interesting hike! The starting point is next to the second-hand market and the course takes about 2 hours. Recommended for new hikers! It is possible to see small waterfalls and streams, observe different plants, there are no existing paths and many times it is necessary to walk on grassy areas with tree roots. Hiking navigation app can be used. Comfortable shoes, light and breathable clothes are recommended (the woods have a lot of humidity), refreshing drinks and energy bars. Enjoy your hike!

Beautiful and picturesque trail along the lake with couple of view points to enjoy. We also found some wild blueberry bushes on our way and stopped to take photos of them. There’s also a canoe rental place that you can rent a canoe and paddle in the lake. Strongly recommended to anyone enjoying the nature.

A trail lover's dream come true. So many places to visit and do many different ways it can change depending on the time of year so the main trail is never boring. Great for biking, walking, running and ATVb lovers. Tip : The loops (off main trail) are super fun but watch out for bear and moose

Well maintained trail and great views. This is an amazing spot to enjoy the sunset. The trail is quite long but with frequent spots to sit and rest. There is an ample spaces for cars in the parking lot too. Great place will regularly go there for sure.
Jaipreet H — Google review
It has great trails through the woods in a peaceful setting, however over the past year or so it has gotten really busy with the addition of the trail along the northwest arm drive that is basically a 10ft wide gravel road. There are still trails throughout that are more natural though.

Long lake is definitely one of my favourite lakes for swimming, probably #1. It's absolutely ginormous, and is surrounded by flat rocks for lounging. Also a great spot for hiking the perimeter of the lake. Also having it be a 10 min drive from downtown makes it pretty unbeatable.

Peggy's Cove Lighthouse, also known as Peggys Point Lighthouse, is a famous landmark in Nova Scotia. Situated in the picturesque fishing village of Peggy's Cove, this historic lighthouse was built in 1914 and is one of Canada's most photographed lighthouses. The village itself dates back to 1811 and retains its rustic charm while being surrounded by a natural preservation area.
I visited here 35 years ago. Definitely more tourist-y now but plenty of parking. Wear good footwear if you want to venture out onto the rocks. There are boat tours, souvenir and local artistry shops. One of the cafes on site had awesome cranberry squares.

The scenery is simply stunning—waves crashing against the shore, the salty breeze, and the sound of the ocean all around make it such a peaceful yet powerful place to visit. It’s a perfect spot for taking photos, enjoying a walk along the rocks, or just sitting and soaking in the view. The village nearby is charming, with colorful houses, shops, and friendly locals that make the trip even more special.

Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse is truly a gem and a must-visit spot, located just about an hour from Halifax. The view is absolutely breathtaking, especially in the evening during sunset – it’s one of the most romantic and picturesque places you can experience in Nova Scotia. The lighthouse sits on massive rocks, which add to its charm but can also be slippery when waves are rough, so it’s best to be cautious while exploring. Fortunately, there’s usually a guard on duty keeping an eye out for tourists’ safety, which is reassuring. Overall, Peggy’s Cove is a stunning destination that perfectly captures the natural beauty of the Atlantic coast. Highly recommended for couples, families, and anyone who loves scenic views – we definitely recommend this spot!
Mukesh S — Google review
Visiting Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse was an absolute highlight of my trip to Nova Scotia! The moment you arrive, you’re greeted by the breathtaking contrast of rugged granite rocks, crashing Atlantic waves, and the iconic white lighthouse standing proudly against the horizon. It’s one of those places that feels almost magical — peaceful yet powerful. The air is fresh and salty, the views are spectacular from every angle, and the sound of the ocean is simply soothing. Whether you visit at sunrise or sunset, the light transforms the landscape into something truly unforgettable. It’s a photographer’s dream and a soul-soothing escape for anyone who loves nature and simplicity. The nearby village adds to the charm — friendly locals, cozy little cafes, Peggy’s Cove is a reminder of how beautiful Canada’s East Coast truly is... 📍 Must-See Tip: Go early or stay late for the most peaceful experience and the most stunning light for photos!

My favourite place to visit in Canada. What other tourist attraction has free entry, free parking, and stay as long as you want. The gift shop has some nice souvenirs and a good restaurant if needed. Been here many times but this was my first sunset visit. Simply spectacular!
John H — Google review
Iconic. Honestly, although it's frequently overblown and the only place that people may talk about visiting or know, the fact is that it is pretty spectacular. There are other areas along the coast that are similar with the large granite rock, or lighthouses, or crashing waves, but it all comes together here in one spot. Because of that, whether it's off season or not, there are TONS of people always swarming all over the rocks. Check out the Cape Forchu lighthouse for a comparable but different experience. Parking fills up quickly and it's not that big. Thankfully there is another parking lot not too far away.
Cory S — Google review
Amazing views, and you can walk all the way on the rocks to see the oceans waves. Quaint little community with shops and restaurants. Even during weekday in October the place was quite busy with people and tour buses.
Natasha C — Google review
Lots of parking, shops to buy things a boat tour 23$ a person, restaurant with lots of souvenirs to buy, great pics and vids to take. Amazing feeling there. U feel like u belong. In the summer in to September no need for a coat or a sweater. I wore shorts and a T-shirt and was fine but some may need it. There are public bathrooms at a restaurant and at the enterce at the visitor center. Closes around 5 pm to go to the bathroom. Lots of brochures. Tones for every area u visit .

Halifax Stanfield International Airport, located in Nova Scotia, offers a unique experience with occasional live music and dance performances as well as a play area for kids. Travelers can also purchase fresh lobster from Clearwater Seafoods to take home with them. The airport is conveniently situated near the Fundy Discovery Site, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn about the Bay of Fundy's tidal landscape.
Beautiful, clean, and extremely passenger-friendly. The airport is modern and very easy to navigate. Staff are kind and helpful, and there are plenty of comfortable seats equipped with power outlets throughout the terminal. The facilities are spotless—including the washrooms—and everything feels designed with the traveler in mind. A great airport experience from start to finish.
Amiel D — Google review
Great airport experience! Clean, easy to navigate, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Security was quick, and there were nice local food options while waiting. A calm, well-organized airport with a welcoming East Coast vibe. One of the better airports in Canada!
Navjot S — Google review
Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia is widely recognized for its exceptional passenger experience, consistently ranking among the best airports globally in customer satisfaction surveys like Skytrax and Airport Service Quality (ASQ) ratings. It holds a 4-Star certification for its facilities, cleanliness, shopping, food and beverage options, and staff service, offering a comfortable and welcoming environment for travelers. The airport is praised for its efficient security processes and friendly, helpful staff, although some passengers note limited dining and shopping choices. It is a critical transportation hub for Atlantic Canada, connecting passengers to North America, Europe, and beyond, and plays a vital role in regional economic growth. Continuous improvements, including technology upgrades and enhanced passenger amenities like mobile library kiosks, demonstrate its commitment to innovation and customer service. Despite being a medium-sized airport, Halifax Stanfield provides a smooth travel experience with good seating areas and modernized facilities, though some areas could benefit from more seating and power outlets. Its reputation for hospitality and operational excellence is reflected in multiple prestigious awards and industry recognition. Overall, Halifax Stanfield stands out as a friendly, efficient, and well-managed airport that successfully balances quality service with cost-effectiveness, making it a top choice for travelers in the region
Sujith M — Google review
The Halifax airport was overall a good experience, clean, organized, and not too crowded. Security and check-in were efficient, and staff were friendly. I just wish there were a few more food and drink options, especially for early or late flights. Otherwise, it’s a smooth and comfortable airport to travel through.
Kat — Google review
The Halifax International Airport is a decent airport in Canada. Even though Halifax is a capital city, it is not a very big one, so it makes sense that the airport isn't very big. It's got a single terminal building with the appropriate sectors for domestic and international travellers, and it is not super busy - even during rush hours. There are a few shops and restaurants and ample seating for the amount of people that come to and fro. The departure and arrival boards are easy to read and readily available across the concourse and building, both landside and airside. The security lines are usually not very long and the staff are able to maintain a professional and efficient flow for the people to go through. Overall, it is a nice airport, perhaps considered average in Canada but compared to many airports in other countries, the Halifax (YHZ) airport is nice. Edit: some of the photo captions have spelling errors... I don't know how to edit the photo captions so please excuse the errors. Thanks

I recently travelled back home to England after visiting Halifax for the first time — and it was also my first time travelling alone. I was feeling quite stressed and emotional, but the lovely Air Canada staff, especially Sarah, made the experience so much easier. Sarah was incredibly friendly, approachable, and reassuring. She patiently answered all my questions about my seat and flight, helped me understand the boarding process, and even gave clear directions to my gate and boarding time. Her kindness and calm personality really helped me feel more at ease and confident about my journey. I’m so grateful for her support — it truly made a difference on a day that could have been overwhelming. Thank you so much, Sarah, for your wonderful help and care! — Pooja

Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park, located just 40 kilometers outside of Halifax, spans 40 hectares and is home to a variety of native and exotic wildlife. Visitors can observe black bears, cougars, wolves, and the park's most prized animal, the Sable Island horse. The park also features an interpretive center, playground, and clean washroom facilities that are easily accessible for all visitors.
This park is a wonderful spot for families and nature lovers! The park is well-maintained, the animals are clearly well cared for, and it’s a great way to learn about native Canadian wildlife. Peaceful trails, friendly staff, and a fun, educational experience for all ages. Highly recommend for a relaxing day outdoors!
Maqnoon A — Google review
Overall a nice place. As with most, I wish there was more funds for larger habitat enclosures and better water features. I'm glad though that the animals are ones that can't go back to the wild and are taken care of. Staff we wonderful.

An excellent place to observe a variety of extraordinary and fascinating wild creatures. While some animals prefer staying inside their shelters, many can be seen roaming outside. A few appear calm and relaxed, while others are impressively energetic and active. The zoo also features a pleasant picnic area, making it a great spot for families and nature enthusiasts alike.

What an amazing experience! (Could only imagine how it would be for a child). The park is set up in a way where it never feels too crowded and is extremely clean and the animals are all very evidently well cared for. Highlights were definitely the adorable raccoons, the precious bear eating leaves, and the wild to see wolves!
Kali G — Google review
We took our family on a night tour of the wildlife park. It was such a cool experience to see animals at night and how differently they act at night. We met the tour guide at 8:00 and we finished the tour at 10:00. It was a lot of walking so be prepared for that. Our children are between 12 and 5 and did start to get tired. Seeing the wildlife park with a guide was a really great experience because we got to learn so much about the animals and how they came to be at the park. Totally recommend this for anyone looking for a unique experience with their family. The night tours aren't run all the time and do fill up quickly.

We had an absolute blast at this wildlife sanctuary! 🦌🦅 There was such a great variety of animals, many that are native to Nova Scotia it was really cool to see them quite up close. It’s the perfect spot for families, kids, and friends of all ages. The admission was very reasonably priced, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable and accessible. The park is really well set up with tasty food, drinks, snacks, and even ice cream to keep you fueled throughout the day. The social media team does a fantastic job too! super informative, helpful, and a great way to plan your visit ahead of time. Highly recommend for a fun, memorable, and family-friendly adventure!

Alt Hotel Halifax Airport offers contemporary and polished accommodations, making it a convenient choice for travelers flying into Halifax. The hotel features spacious rooms with comfortable beds, good showers, and decent coffee facilities. Guests can enjoy the grab-and-go cafe as well as amenities like a pool and gym. Additionally, the hotel is conveniently located near the car rental facility. Visitors have praised the attached pizza place for its reasonable prices and great selection of food and drinks.
Recently stayed at the beginning and the end of my trip to Nova Scotia. The airport was a Skywalk and a hallway away from the hotel, which the convenience was very much appreciated after an unexpected 27.5 hr day of travel. My flight in was delayed and resulted in getting checked in super late, well after midnight, around 2am and everyone at the front desk was very helpful as if it was any other time of the day. I was easily checked into my very modern, updated, and uniquely decorated room, overlooking the airport and runway. Very unique and modern amenities. Each floor is adorned with one of the bright colors in their logo (red, pink, purple, green) when you get out of the elevator and the specific floors colors are accents throughout. Sosta! Pizzeria in the lobby has various food options, including options for specific dirtary restrictions (gf&df) to purchase from 6am til around 11pm, it said that later food options may be available for later flights, however I did not utilize those services. The hotel is along a bus route in and out of Halifax and the other nearby areas, which is easy to utilize and relatively inexpensive. The check out process was also very simple. When I return to Halifax, I'll be planning to stay at thr Alt Hotel again. Great experience and hospitality from everyone I encountered during my stay
Lindsey A — Google review
We choose this hotel for the location before a flight and that part was perfect! The rooms were decent but very small. The painted black plywood on the ceiling was odd to me. It made the room feel like a dungeon. The restaurant in the hotel was very good!
Ashley M — Google review
This is the bomb for staying right at the airport! The Alt did an outstanding job soundproofing the building. We couldn't hear the planes even though we could see them taking off and landing right out our window on the 10th floor. Couldn't hear the elevator right next to our room. Fantastic! High marks for multiple USB A&C plugs, as well as conventional electric outlets. The room was generously proportioned and the beds were comfortable. The entire place was super clean and modern. The decor focused more on style than comfort - the chairs were great to look at but very uncomfortable for sitting. Bathroom was well sized, and plenty of towels. The closet was a bit small and there was insufficient storage for the contents of our luggage. But for a double Q room with 4 adults, we couldn't ask for more. Plus, this is an airport hotel where guests come and go quickly - many are likely one-night stands, so to speak. Overall, 2 thumbs up for the purpose of this hotel. And they charge accordingly. I'd say a bit stiff on price, but for the convenience and a good night's sleep, I'd come again... and again.

Great experience at the Alt Hotel Halifax Airport in August 2025! For some reason the entire city was booked on a Saturday evening and managed to get a room here as a last resort. It was a bit annoying to drive back to the airport after a day around the city but the overall experience was great! I've stayed at a few Alt hotels before and this one has similarly modern and tastefully finished rooms. The proximity to the airport is of course very handy and it made for an entertaining rum walk in the evening. Only thing that could be improved is that there is no designated parking for the hotel (which is fine) but it isn't really that obvious what you are supposed to do when you arrive. At least some temporary parking while you check in would be useful.
J B — Google review
Checked in was great, I asked the lady on the counter what time breakfast is since my flight was at 8am. She informed me it was at 6am. Went to get breakfast at 6am, was informed breakfast was at 6:30am but the woman there said I can grab a sandwich which I think was good that they considered in giving me something to eat before heading to the airport. However, after checking my credit card they charge me almost $15 for a sandwich which was suppose to be a substitute for my free breakfast! I was not happy, I paid $280 for a night with free breakfast, and ended up paying $15 for a little sandwich!
Lord M — Google review
We stayed overnight before our flight since we had an early departure. The hotel is really convenient to stay at before a flight because you just have to cross a sky bridge to get to the airport. The room was nice and clean with comfortable beds and pillows. The front desk staff were also really friendly and helpful.
Liz M — Google review
The Alt hotel was super convenient because it was connected to the airport that we were going to. The person who checked us in was very nice and even gave us a huge room just to be nice! I loved their creativity with using rainbow colors for each floor. The bathrooms were very nice and so was the room. I recommend this hotel to others, especially since it's right next to an airport.

Alt hotels are large. They’re offered in convenient locations. They’re efficient, clean, appropriate and well groomed. The information you may not know, is they’re like “going home”. The Halifax hotel is located adjacent to the Halifax international airport. There’s a pedway, so it’s perfect. But most importantly it’s comfort. I live 4 hours from the airport. If I’m flying out on early morning flight I need a comfortable bed. If I’m flying in late, I desperately want a good sleep. The Alt offers this. I arrive to smiles. To “Welcome back”! When one arrives at the desk they’re greeted with a warm welcome. Sometimes is quite busy, the staff look, nod & acknowledge each person. You know you’re seen and wait patiently. They’re doing their job. When approaching the desk they speak clearly, with eye contact, and are ready to ensure your expectations are met and help you get settled. When they ask “ How are you? Do you need anything, contact us. “ it’s genuine. The rooms, everything you need. They’re meticulously clean, provide a proficient amount of towels, off a nespresso coffee machine, great lighting features, and most importantly the most comfortable beds. I choose to stay here because of “who they are”. A welcoming staff who can see you’re extremely happy to be going on holiday or also see you’re a bit sad as your family are departing. You’re not just a guest checking in. You’re a real person wanting a comfortable place to stay Thank you hugely to the staff of the Halifax Alt for always, always, making me feel welcomed, comfortable, safe and like it’s a “home away from home”

The Halifax Harbour Boardwalk was such a cute walk in Downtown Halifax. So many things to see and do. Hammocks to hang out in, beautiful chairs along the boardwalk to sit and enjoy the day. Not much to "do" during the winter months as tourist season is not open until May but you still get to enjoy the essence of Halifax.
