I usually carry my own ceramic or glass tumbler because I care about the environment and my health. When I ordered, I said I wanted my bread to go, but my coffee and tea to stay. However, the same male staff member with tied dark-blond hair who both took my order and made the drinks had already poured my drinks into disposable paper cups. At first, I thought those drinks weren’t mine, but they turned out to be. When I asked for mugs, he transferred the drinks from the paper cups into them. By that time, the paper cups had already become waste, and my hot coffee and tea had already been sitting in those paper cups long enough for chemicals to leach out. I normally carry a ceramic or glass tumbler and request “to stay” to avoid disposable waste and exposure to harmful substances, so this situation was utterly absurd and frustrating. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy like latte art. I just wanted to start my morning pleasantly with good coffee, but this experience left me really disappointed. If you visit this café, I recommend getting service from the other male staff member, the one with short(he is always kind), dark hair or women, not the one with tied dark blond hair.

An amazing spot, make incredible by its PHENOMENAL food. Truly the BEST sourdough and BEST croissant I’ve ever had. The only downside is the irregular hours: it seems like they close early often, because I’ve shown up twice before during “regular” hours and the shop was closed. But this makes it even more exciting when you can get here because it’s that much more special. Recommend ten times over!

Nice place to have breakfast. We tried the almond croissant and the ham and cheese croissant. The almond croissant was a little overbaked. Other than that, everything else was good.

Oh LF, I love you so. Please come to Dartmouth. Fresh bread, good coffee, huge rotating selection of treats. You need a home in Dartmouth. This place is Loud, but I think you have to be cognizant that this is a working bakery. Please help us. They’re not usually open on Mondays and they usually take a week off around Christmas and summer, which is well deserved. I’ve never had the sandwiches, but looking at the display case for 10-12 bucks look unreal. Lots of marginalized people in the area, usually try buy something extra to give somebody on the way out. Kindness counts.

Nice little bakery cafe. The bakery seems very busy! We got a loaf of white bread, which was fresh and had great texture, but was missing something (maybe salt?). We also had coffees and treats while we were there. Excellent Americano and a very good croissant. Will go back to try more baked goods.

The cardamom iced latte was good but the blueberry tart was underwhelming & the vanilla custard wasn’t flaky it was soggy and the custard had an egg taste that we didn’t enjoy.

Easily one of the best bakeries in Atlantic Canada. Definitely top three, I haven't been everywhere so I can't rule out some dark horse from some random corner, but these guys are top notch. Croissant is good as you'll get in Paris, and I've been there and done that! Get up early and get down there for when they open at 7:30 and the smell of fresh baked baguettes and other deliciousness will transport you to heaven!

Very cute little cafe with few seating upstairs. The menu selection is small with pastries made fresh daily and different items on different days of the week. The croissant is very good and is layers upon layers of crispy flakiness. Much more dense than I've ever had elsewhere, where most of it is air. Would recommend.

This little place is great. Good cappuccino and the croissants super flaky and nice. Been a long time since I had a croissant that deserved the name. The canélé are awesome too.

Wonderful little find near the Convention Centre. Real French feel…great coffees and eats. The canelé came warmed and had a beautiful soft centre. Macaroons are well priced and made in the Parisian style - delicious. Croissant delicious. Good value..

Stumbled into this little place by accident but immediately fell in love. Very quaint space, beautiful & delicious desserts! Pain au chocolat was perfect - not too much and not too sweet. Croissant dough is buttery light and flaky! I did enjoy my London Fog but my husband said his coffee wasn't very good. I will absolutely return to try more sweets!

This is such a cute little cafe. I had a latte and mocha which were both really good. I also had a vanilla and chocolate caneles which were not that good, didn’t taste like it was made fresh. The barista was really nice and the seating area was colourful.

To be honest, one of my favorite places to go, location is very good in the heart of the city, the old building added value where I felt the history when I was there. The patisseries are unique, French and delicious. Even you can't find them anywhere. I like the girl work over there she is welcoming, smiley face and friendly (I thought she is the owner). Layout, I like the layout and decorations. Prices are ($$), but worth it.p Working hours, I found they close very early, sometime we like to have coffee after 5pm, specially the business in the heart of the city Conclusion, really you should visit, and test macarons, they are frech. My husband and I eloped in Germany in the fall, so for our little wedding celebration with friends and family this past weekend my mom ordered a bunch of pretzels to give to everyone. They reminded us so much of our trip! So yummy and beautiful! We ordered cookies too and they were absolutely beautiful, everything was delicious ! Awesome customer service too, we would definitely order from them and will have to pop in for a pretzel! 🥨

Today is my friend’s birthday and I planned to get a pumpkin pie for her. Only it has to be from Gingerbread Haus. Six years ago, my first autumn in Canada, I randomly walked into Gingerbread Haus. Didn’t know what to pick, I chose to try the seasonal special, the pumpkin pie with whipped cream. It was amazing, so unforgettable. The next time I walked in the shop. Sorry, the pumpkin pie was SOLD OUT. Just like this, year after year, when it was in season, they sold out quickly; when it was not in season, no pumpkin pies. Maybe you can give it a try on Easter. I was told so. I tried. No Easter pumpkin pies. The bakeries were so good and business went so well that making pumpkin pies on Easter was not possible. Luckily I stayed all these years in the same neighborhood and still have friends living nearby. After another random but magic afternoon walk, I pulled open the shop door and found the pumpkin pies available again. Yes, this year we have the luck to enjoy another Gingerbread Haus pumpkin pie. Tastes like the best part of life.

Outstanding! I had been disappointed by several “bakeries” along the Cabot Trail. They left me wanting baked goods when we got back in Halifax. And the Gingerbread Haus delivered! What an amazing selection they had. After our first visit, we immediately returned for more. I had the almond ring on our walk through the Point Pleasant park and it held up the whole way. See the pics for prices and products. Service was pleasant. Staff behind the counter could describe each item in detail. The only downside was that they aren’t open until 9am. Well worth the wait. You must visit this bakery if you are in the area!

In last few years store became worse and worse... I did love that store, and I remember when you guys got open, and my family always was customers for cakes there, even few times we had coffee in, not to go. But last few times I got not fresh slice of cake, and not fresh full cake. With memories, that mistakes could happened and everyone deserve second chance, I start to visit not that often. But last time on Thursday July 10th I came to buy Rum bowls for a family gathering, first for so little desert price jump high from last time I bought it. and when I bought 5 of them, each cost $4.05, with tax I spend more than $23. and cashier did put them in small brown bag! when you selling desert for $4+ and its few of them, you serving it like piece of garbage or leftovers in brown bag. No, I'm not coming back. To sell old deserts, and after treat customers like a garbage after giving you another chance... this place not for me!

A simple bakery with delicious baked goods. Service was friendly, helpful and patient. Selection was excellent even when I came near the end of their day, and everything was amazing. Got Almond Wheels, Mozart's, Gingerbread People, Nougat Wheel, and Lemon Shortbread. All were fantastic! Will be back!

Lovely little bakery serving wonderful European bakes. The gingerbread was perfectly spiced with just the right balance of flavours and the texture was spot on. A great range of bakes at very reasonable prices.

I barely consume sweet goods, almost never, because my senses of taste and smell are too strong and sugar bothers me but when I first got to know of the Gingerbread Haus nearby I realized they are Erupoean-style professionals. By far different from what I've experienced in the North America. Their products are not saturated with sugar. The sour dough breads, the cream on the cakes and the ratio of the ingridients are phenomenal. I have promised myself not to buy any cakes unless I purchase them here. Their products are indeed pricy when compared to the mass production items in the chainstores but you enjoy and live longer :) They close soon, plan and pre-order so you won't have to choose the low quality sweets for your events.

Went for breakfast and the pastry was cold. The staffs seemed just busy that they didn’t make little effort of heating up a cold egg puff. Also had a cupcake which was dry and stale. Though I like their loaf, it is overpriced pastry and overrated place.

Visited their new location in Brewery Market recently. The decor was funky and relaxed and although the selection was small, the pastries were unbelievable! Service was friendly too. Looking forward to going again soon.

As I walked to work everyday, I slowly watched as this place became an empty husk of a venue to the brilliant bakery it is today. I've never had a dessert there I didn't like (even some that I was reluctant to try). The staff was always friendly. Their burger week special was an excellent out-of-the-box idea and was worth its price.

Went here for some breakfast food and coffee and found that everything was way overpriced. I didn't think the food was amazing - it was ok, but definitely not worth what they're charging. Also if you're average male height or above make sure to duck under the lighting fixture they have in the washroom.

Pleasant service. Amazing baked goods. Would recommend the donuts if you want to try something unique and amazing. They also sell travel mugs, ceramic coffee filters, and locally made tea and coffee. Can occasionally get crowded by popular demand. But that is no fault of the store, other than being so good.

While set in a dated decor, the old apothecary offers an amazing Cinnamon Bun. A bit undercooked for my taste but still very much decadent. Perfect to finish your week with your favorite cup of coffee

First saw this bakery on the Food network show; Baking Sisters (I think it's called). So while in Halifax, I had to check it out. The aroma of their bread is intoxicating! If it wasn't for us staying in a hotel (and doing no meals in room) I would have tried their breads. It was hard not to buy! We were too late for croissants or cinnamon buns. I'm betting they sell out fast. But the lemon tart we had was wonderful! Also, (not pictured) we tried a mini orange cake with mascarpone icing, which was also yummy. My next visit to Halifax, will include another stop here. And next time I'm coming for bread!

Nice little bakery, tucked in and out of the way. Good selection of baked goods. Mainly breads, muffins and specialty muffins and desserts. Fairly priced, we had muffins and cinnamon buns. Tasted good. Reasonably priced, bread and english muffins are pricy and small portions. Really liked their muffins. Staff is friendly and serve you really quickly.

I recently returned from a trip to Nova Scotia and brought back five different kinds of cakes from the coast. Sharing them with friends, some former East coasters, 24 Carrot oatcakes were the clear fan favorite, more than holding their own against the finest oat cakes from Cape Breton. They are cross between the more austere CB style and some of the thicker, decadent mainland versions. A perfect balance it appears. They were so well loved by a friend’s Colombian girlfriend that she took the balance of his chocolate dipped oak cakes back to Bogota. Thanks to the staff at the bakery for setting me up for success! Ps. I also purchased chocolate macaroons which proved to be a perfect energy boost during the long drive back to Upper Canada.

What did you change in your oatcakes? They used to be crispy and tasty; now they're SOGGY and BLAND. I'm never buying them again and they were my favourite. I'll bet you cheaped out on the butter.....

Ordered some cupcakes online (via email) for a special occasion. Kat was wonderful to deal with! Cupcakes were delicious as always and service is fantastic.

This is my go to bakery for all my needs. I have order so many cakes, cookie, muffins and more and have never been disappointed! The staff are absolutely amazing! 😀

My first experience was great fresh and looked great display was full and service was awesome. But today June 22 .2.10 my child and I felt rushed my daughter 5 years old was excited and didn't know what she really wanted to try she then decided on two cupcakes. After the person served it she said anything else I said yes I would like to have a date square. Again (anything else I said yes my girlfriend wants something as well..she pick and then and anything else. I asked about the pies and the person walked aways from me as I was talking to her ..I could not even hear what she was saying. I asked again and it seemed like she got upset because she had to repeat herself. Not returning to this place again ..

Ordered vanilla birthday cake for my toddler’s birthday.it was so delicious and looked amazing too. Service is good. They would answer all your questions instantly. The cake was ready on time as promised.

I stopped by Two if By Sea cafe, and while it was a hip spot, I left feeling somewhat underwhelmed. The cafe itself is trendy, but seating is limited, so be prepared to grab-and-go. I ordered an iced matcha latte, but unfortunately, it didn't blow me away. The flavor was just average, and I've had better matcha lattes elsewhere. On the bright side, the croissants were a highlight! They're huge and flaky, and the almond croissant was perfect for me since it wasn't too sweet. However, I have to say that the plain croissant didn't impress me as much - I've had better ones from Costco (and you can't beat the value there!). The Nutella and raspberry danish were just okay - nothing special. Overall, I'd say Two if By Sea cafe is a solid choice if you're in the area, but it's not necessarily a destination worth seeking out.

A really nice cafe, got there just when they were bringing out their fresh batch of pastries and man they are huge. The provolone croissant was bigger than my hand and the chocolate croissant was also very large. Loved the outside seating and their food and ambience.

🛑 BEST CROISSANTS IN CANADA! 🛑 if you are visiting Halifax do yourself a favour and cross the bridge into Dartmouth and go try these croissants! Best you’ll ever had! Won’t regret the trip over! You’re going to want to go back to visit Halifax only for these croissants! Don’t forget to pair them with a Cafe Moca, they’re great as well! Hint, go early! By 1:00 pm or so, they could sold out!

We really enjoyed the coffee and the numerous varieties of pastries. We had the pain au chocolat and a everything croissant, and it was delicious. The vibe was also very nice, we sat upstairs with all the paper plates with art on them, we had a good time looking at the drawings! The americano is great, will go again!

Not really sure what the hype is about. The croissants are too dense, the flavor is good but croissants are supposed to be light and flaky. These were far from it. We have tried the prosciutto cheese one and almond croissant. Wouldn't purchase again but their coffee was good and people nice. Also, there is pizza place upstairs - definitely recommend it

You will not find better croissants. The problem is choosing which one. The pain au chocolat is deliciously and generously filled with milk chocolate. The Everything Bagel flavored croissant is amazing as well, filled with cream cheese. This time around I had the special, which was a pumpkin cheesecake croissant. A bit sweet, but oh so good. The seating isn't super comfortable, but if you can snag a table by the open window it's nice. Very busy spot.

I ordered 2 dozen cupcakes for a mini wedding celebration and they were such a hit! They are so cute and every flavour was delicious. I had accidentally entered the wrong date on my order but they whipped it together really quick for me and were so kind about the mistake, really great service. I would absolutely recommend! The crowd favourite was a feature, Banana cream pie, the best cupcake I’ve ever had ☺️.

Phenomenol cupcakes! I had ordered the salted caramel, oreo, and I believe a cinnamonish cupcake? They were so delicious! The salted caramel was my favourite (and I'm someone who's not the biggest fan of caramel). The frosting was so light and fluffy and the cupcake base was so moist. I need to come back again and grab more flavours to try!

Layers is the perfect place to get a sweet treat! Their cupcakes are perfectly created - fluffy, not too sweet and the perfect ratio of cake to frosting. They also always have new creative flavours to try! The staff is super friendly and helpful. If you’re going for a specific flavour, I recommend going early as they sell out quickly!

My long distance friends got a box of THE most delicious cupcakes sent to my place for my birthday last year. Ever since then I’ve been trying to get invited to a birthday party so I can share the joy of these delicious treats. Put in a phone order for delivery the same day, driver was running late but then I was surprised with an extra half dozen cupcakes!! Incredible service and incredible cupcakes!

From the moment I walked in to this cozy shop I knew this would become a favorite happy place for me! I've ordered various cupcakes on different occasions for friends and family, and recently ordered The Chocolate Chocolate Cake for my boyfriend's birthday celebration! These cupcakes are by far, THE MOST DELECTABLE cupcakes we have ever tasted...and The Chocolate Chocolate Cake was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I can't express enough just how scrumptious their recipes really are! This batter recipe Layers uses is not too sweet, but just perfectly sweet enough when combined with the smoothest, dreamiest icing that I have ever tasted! The people in this company are not only cheerful, friendly and kind, but they are true professionals who know their stuff! These people really know how to welcome you and make you want to return again and again for their special product and genuine kindness! I have always had wonderful service and the best treats to share, thanks to all of you at Layers Cupcakes!

We decided last minute to get a wedding cake and cupcakes for our wedding. Layers was super helpful with deciding what to order and fulfilling our order perfectly we only a few weeks notice. We ended up ordering a small wedding cake and mini cupcakes for our guests which worked out perfect. I would definitely recommend doing mini cupcakes instead of the full size cupcakes as they are much more approachable especially after a large dinner. Layers doesn’t do custom wedding cakes but that wasn’t important to us so it worked out well.

I only take one star away as I used to brag about their quality for price. You used to get this great quality for cheaper than people were selling their cupcakes at all the markets all over HRM and even the moncton markets I frequent. Now their price hike has them at the same prices ( I realize prices go up but didn't expect the large leap as izzys bagels did it a few cents at a time for fairness to their customers). I will keep going for their flavors and icing being superior and the friendly lady usually at cash. If I could give it a 4.5 I would.

We went today for a dessert, had never been before. My daughter picked a cookie and she wasn’t able to eat it. She is 4, she eats anything with sugar on it. I tried it and it was terrible, pretty sure it is quite old and has been on display for a while. Very expensive for what they offer.

Lovely bakery and customer service, found the birthday cake ordered way too sweet, gave them a second chance and asked if the sweetness can be reduced a bit, but I was told they don't change recipes. The second cake, different flavor, was also overwhelmingly too sweet, masking any flavour cake might have. Have since found another bakery that have cakes with normal sugar levels and won't be back unfortunately

Love Susie’s. I’m a baker but when I’m in a time crunch it’s my go to. Everyone loves their cupcakes. The person that left a review complaining about too much sugar? Seriously….its literally called shortbreads which are made with butter and sugar. That’s like going to the liquor store and complaining they have too much alcohol!! Most ridiculous comment ever. This is a wonderful bakery.

Nice bakery!! 1. Pastries are amazing. Texture and the balance of taste seem to be the top level in Halifax. However, coffee is just ok which means it is little bit better than Tim Hortons. 2. The vibes of this bakery is pretty good. I recommend the patio. 3. The price is reasonable. I highly recommend here. This bakery must be better than other competitors.

Wonderful place - delicious pastry - warm atmosphere! I usually don't write reviews, but I am a regular customer here, so couldn't miss a chance to leave my review. Atmosphere is absolutely filled with warmness and cheerfulness - wonderful for bold morning coffee as well as cup of tea during the rainy day. Although the service might not be the most personalized, however only because it is partially patisserie shop and cafe, I am truly fascinated with the speed and accuracy of the staff taking great care of such high flow of customers. Not to forget their variety of pastry and bread products - you can always find something for your special moment. Thanks!

Great coffee, huge cafe au lait, tasty croissants, and unique cinnamon buns. The croissant sandwich was tasty but a little expensive at $6.95. The cinnamon bun dough felt similar to the croissant which I found very interesting. Friendly staff, and a very cozy, warm cafe.

Amazing Americano (my wife says the best!) Wonderful desserts and food! Latte tastes great, but needs to be hotter. You can always ask for "extra hot" if you are concerned about that. Love this place and everything about it!!!

Pane e Circo is such a beautiful spot to enjoy a coffee! With an Italian touch, they serve illy coffee and offer a wide variety of pastries, sandwiches, croissants or paninis, salads, and even gelato. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Highly recommended!

I made this my first stop to start my first day in Halifax, and I loved it. Beautiful place with a great atmosphere. I picked up a few sweets, and it was a nice touch that they deliver your coffee right to the table. It’s always those small details that make the experience better. Absolutely superb customer service—and then, just a short walk away, you’re ready to start your day.

Great variety of food and beverages, both high quality and delicious. Service is also outstanding. I took the mushroom panini and I was impressed with the flavor and freshness of it. Plus, the bread was really good. And the matcha latte was just perfect in terms of temperature, sweetness, flavor, everything!

Great place to enjoy coffee and chat with friends in Dt! Here has a great selection of coffee, drinks, baking, and brunch options, and the staff are all friendly and professional. Tried the Pistachio Chocolate Croissant, which was the best pistachio chocolate croissant I've had in Halifax! 😆It was very crowded, so if it's rush hour, you'll have to wait for a table.

Went there with a friend, had two almond croissants with hot coffee latte and cold ice latte. Loved the snacks and enjoyed the environmental buzz filled with family, friends, and old ladies and gents. Loved the cozy wibe. It was a lovely day, people sitting in patio and many inside in much colder place.

This is a lovely place with great drinks and the staff is super helpful and kind! I’ve come here a couple of times now and never really ordered a whole lot of the food items (although they look delicious) but the drinks I have tried are amazing! The fruity drinks taste fresh and you can tell they are made with good quality ingredients rather than a whole bunch of artificial flavours, and the ones I’ve tried haven’t been overly sweet either. It was a great place to sit in on a hot day as the drinks were refreshing and the AC was very much appreciated haha. A little busy but aside from that the place is nice and service/drinks are great! (They also have the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen which is automatically a 10/10 for me)

Excellent coffee and pastries. I had a cortado, breakfast sandwich and almond croissant. Great coffee and the croissant was so delicious. I saved half for later and it was still very yummy. My friend had a cinnamon bun and also loved it. The place was nice and the fresh tulips in each table gave it a special touch.

Today I had fish and chips for the first time in about 8 years, and it was delicious. My husband, a happy gluten eater had it as well, and agreed it was some of the best fish and chips he's ever had, gluten free or not.

On the advice of a friend we stopped in here and we were not disappointed. The location is tiny and super busy, the staff are friendly and really helpful. As this is a gluten free spot they gave us tips on some of the products and reheating the items we were taking home. We were a bit late to try the cinnamon rolls (which was what brought us in)so we’ll be back for those. The pizza crust, cookies and danish we bought were great.

A very cool concept for a cafe. Certainly highlights the importance for inclusiveness in such restricted diets. They have a large selection of baked goods to choose from which was really great to see. They were all helpfully labelled to indicate if they were dairy free or gluten free. I would recommend this cafe for anyone who has the dietary needs. My only gripe is that there is a lack of pricing on each item. Overall the staff were friendly and service was 👍

Today is my first time here and I'm super impressed! I've only been eating gluten free for a few weeks and this was an absolute treat! I got a chicken burger and onion rings. They were better than any fast food place I've been before finding out I'm celiac! I can't wait to come back and try more things!

As someone who has been gluten-free for years, I understand the feeling of going to a restaurant and searching for what you can eat instead of what you want to eat. Odell's is a safe space for the gluten-free community where you don't need to worry about cross-contamination. There bakery items are unique and worth the cost. Their restaurant items are fairly priced provide diverse menu options. The staff is excellent and is always willing to answer any questions and provide outstanding service. 10/10 recommend you visit!

Bliss Caffeine Bar has super delicious, fresh, high-quality food and the drinks are delicious (whether you are looking for a caesar, latte, or matcha)! The atmosphere is super cute and you can dine in or pick up a coffee and a pastry to go! I definitely recommend you go there for your next brunch date!😋🥂🥞

Arrived early enough to get in without a reservation (which is recommended as this place is always busy). Heard great things and was not disappointed. The Breakfast Tacos were delicious, the refried beans ( we got them on the side) were spicy and delicious. Green sauce was a nice touch. The potatoes were my favorite part, absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. Great service. Great coffee and lots of amazing pastries also.

What a pleasant surprise! We didn’t expect much when we stopped by, but the food was honestly 10/10 — absolutely delicious. Service was quick and super accommodating; they even split one of our meals into two kids’ portions without hesitation, which we really appreciated. A gem in Halifax! Wonderful, beautiful, and delicious café. I was here for a business trip, and came every day just because it was that amazing! Service was attentive and friendly. The chicken sandwich with the potatoes was succulent. Best I have had in a while. *chef’s kiss* The passionfruit parfait was also delicious and refreshing. I tried their tomato and garlic focaccia as well as their blueberry lemon scone, and again, didn’t disappoint. 100% recommended and hope to return in the future.

The food and the service were simply amazing! I ordered the strawberry shortcake waffles and they didn’t disappoint at all. The matcha strawberry was good, but it just could’ve been a little better as I feel they might’ve just added strawberry syrup. Other than that, I highly recommend this place, it wasn’t too loud and the decor was super cute too!

Bliss Caffeine Bar was my favourite spot to visit during our trip to Halifax. I went back twice because the first time wasn’t enough. First time, we got brunch. Getting seated was fast and our server (whose name I unfortunately can’t remember) was really friendly and professional. They were timely with getting our orders and we really appreciated their warm hospitality. I got the Bliss Brekkie, and hands down the best breakfast/brunch dish I’ve had. Perfect portion, seasoned very well, and everything was balanced. I absolutely loved the breakfast sausage and roasted potatoes—I’m drooling just thinking about it! I also got their chocolate chip cookie as a sweet treat, and it was the perfect ending to a great brunch. The second time I went was to snag their donuts and more of the cookies before they were all sold out. I loved the strawberry cheesecake donut—the filling was sooo dreamy. The s’mores-inspired one was also great and I liked how the sweet meringue balanced the chocolate pastry cream. Just a cute spot with really good food and treats. I’ll definitely be coming back if I visit again!

I discovered Birdies Bread & Co. today by chance and I’m so glad I did! It’s such a beautiful shop. I bought a loaf of bread, a pain au chocolat, and an almond croissant, everything was absolutely delicious and clearly made with care. The service was excellent as well. I’m not sure if they also serve drinks or coffee, but I’ll definitely be going back to find out! :)

Celebrating our volunteer teams for a week, we looked for locally owned businesses to purchase treats from. Birdies was a recommendation from another business, and was such an excellent team to work with - had lots of great ideas, and they put together some great assorted boxes. The oatmeal cookies with orange buttercream are unbelievably delicious - a must try item if you ask me. I also purchased a loaf of sourdough bread and it was the best we've had in HRM. My boss was able to have some too as they don't use yeast in their sourdough. So so fresh and delicious. Will be back and highly recommend. I also love that they sell other items from local makers in the store. That's what community is all about!

The vegan buckwheat brownie was sinfully (my husband’s word) delicious! I shared it with my husband but in hindsight I wished I had not been so generous!

just got home with a loaf of the currant and coriander sourdough and a pot of the cranberry curd and all i have to say is drooooooool. i am in heaven! so so so sooo good! i grabbed some local mushrooms and coffee too. love this place, highly recommend!

Inside looks amazing. Clean and tidy. Staff were lovely. Pastries wasn't the best in the city. Cookie was good but not great. Chocolate croissant don't think their chocolate work well with the croissant. It just didn't tasted good. Country style bread was actually good. There's an after taste but I like it that way. So overall, a good place and decent prices.

What a beautiful little store! When I walked in I was blown away. It’s simply decorated with natural elements. They have a few comfortable tables to have your lunch or coffee and a sweet. But most importantly... their product is delicious! I grabbed a loaf of their ‘plain’ sourdough (maybe it’s called farmers? I can’t remember in the 20 minutes since I grabbed it!) The crust is perfectly crunchy and the inside is soft and moist. The Italian vegetable soup is flavourful and filling. It’s full of chunky pieces of Zucchini, beans, carrots, etc. It is very homemade (in a good way!) I’ll be back! The suggestion that I can offer to the delightful owners is to make sandwiches to showcase your amazing bread (even if it’s a daily selection like your soup).

Birdies is so great, all their baked good are amazing, it’s unfortunate that they are closed on Sunday’s and not open until 9 on other days, the only day we are able to go is Saturdays, and we live in the neighborhood! I hope they change their ours!

Tart and Soul is an incredible cafe run by two of the best people you could know. Their business is a blueprint of what all businesses should strive for. They are community builders and have endless support for other local businesses, employees and patrons. They have set the standard of how to run a business. It also helps that everything they produce is absolutely incredible. The butter tarts are divine, the famous cinnamon buns are to die for, and their breakfast snacks are *chefs kiss*.

has a cute vibe, food is really good, service is great. bagels are housemade and the bagel sandwiches are superb, not to mention prices are low for food of the quality being served here. we will be returning!

The best crust I've had is on the T&S butter tart. And I've had a lot of crusts in my 35 years in case there is question about my comparison set. Have tried nearly all their desserts and have always been very happy. Coffee is hot and lots. Friendly staff, all 3 I have met. Have been offered staff clothing (cafe sleeveless sweater?) for a chilly day on the patio, and given double the number of cookies I paid for. Will return and look forward to it. Even morsel of any edible item that I’ve consumed has been absolutely delicious. T&S Hungry Ma’am and Gobbler pies are on the top of our favourites list. Ohhhh and the specialty birthday cakes are like nothing you can imagine until you experience. Everyday treats and great coffee in the cafe are always delicious and served with a smile. Do yourself a favour and visit Tart & Soul, you and your tastebuds will not be disappointed. IYKYK

The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Setting is nice to work in and grab a sandwich and a latte to fuel your needs. Happy tummy items: soup of the day, cookies, sandwich cookies (oh my God these babies are unbelievable, bagel sammies) Not so happy tummy items: pecan pie (too many pecans compared to the pie filling), butter tarts, cinnamon bun (not as moist as expected) All in all worth a visit :)

Today I visited Creamy Rainbow Café and tried their pistachio croissant—and wow, it was incredible. It looked beautiful, with a chocolate-nut topping, and inside… the pistachio filling was so generous and absolutely delicious. I am a big fan of anything pistachio, and this one totally hit the mark. I also had a cappuccino, which paired perfectly with the pastry. Smooth, well-balanced, and just strong enough—simple to describe, but very well done. Both the croissant and coffee were honestly 10 out of 10. Highly recommend if you’re a pistachio lover or just want a quality café moment.

The place is quite expensive while some desserts are really cute. Me personally, I thought that more authentic Asian food would be available. This experience reminded me of watching a YouTube video because of the hyped title and finding that the content itself is not worth it. If you have no high expectations and just need a good place to have a dessert with coffee - it is totally fine.

This place was adorable! I had their iced strawberry latte with an almond croissant & my partner had a caramel iced latte & bun. They were both delicious & I can’t wait to come back! The staff ate very friendly

One star because their matcha doesn’t taste good at all. Matcha powder doesn’t have flavour, lacks colour and it is very milky. In the picture the color looks fine but once stirred it’s very light green. Although their macaroons are very delicious !!

Pistachio croissants are amazing!💚 very intrigued by that pistachio cake, maybe next time I’ll try it, if no croissants are left 😂 Other desserts are looking so cute and delicious.

It’s my Korean bestie’s and I one of our favorite places ever. I guarantee you that anything you get will be a 100% delicious. They always have a great selection of creamy desserts that are frequently updated and the drinks are supreme. My to go drinks are iced strawberry matcha and yuzu drink. Anyway, if you want a nice place with delicious desserts and drinks and reasonable prices- you won’t be disappointed with this one

They catered our wedding just last weekend and we were taken care of so well by them. The food was superb (the prime roast rib of beef was incredible). And their service was amazing. Made sure every need we had was seen to. If I’m ever entertaining a party in the future, I will definitely be looking to them for catering.

Scanway Catering supplied our wedding dessert bar with various types of mini bites, such as cupcakes, fruit tarts, macarons, etc. Their catering menu is extensive with many good options. Melisa, the Event Catering Manager, was very helpful when organising all of this over email. Guests commented on how delicious the dessert was!

Had such a great experience getting my birthday cake from Scanway. Ray was super helpful and guided me through everything. She was very responsive and friendly.

Recently orders from there and the taste was 10 on 10 . I would highly recommend this place ….. and I will be surely ordering from there again. The only thing missing is they do not deliver and it’s in downtown so that is sometimes a hassle as weather is a challenge here. But otherwise than that in terms of quality and taste this place is absolutely amazing.

I’m satisfied with the birthday cake. Nowadays fancy bakery birthday cakes can easily go over 100 dollars plus tax just for the decorations. No tax for the birthday cake here. Simple and delicious. Great ingredients.

Holy mother of delicious donuts!! The cinnamon sugar donut was INCREDIBLE!! The rooftop patio is fabulous!! Tables and chairs. Umbrellas. Propane heaters. Looks like it becomes a bar (beer & alcohol) around noon. Super friendly staff!! I asked for a grilled chicken sandwich a very specific way and they did their best to accommodate me. My slightly picky (yes, that's sarcasm) girlfriend requested a totally plain pizza (dough, cheese, & sauce -- no basil, no grated cheese) and they made it. We ate breakfast on the rooftop patio. It was really nice! We were the only ones up there at that time. Very quiet. Very relaxing. Nice view. We returned later for lunch and ate inside. If we had spent more time in Nova Scotia I think I would have returned several more times. A perfect spot for a lite bite!! :-)

I ordered a Scanway two-person picnic to celebrate a dear friend's birthday. From the presentation, packed beautifully in a big white box, to all the courses and garnishes, it was perfect. We had the version with the poached salmon. The portions were very generous and every bite was delicious. We were blessed with a beautiful day and found a picnic table with a stunning view. I was very happy with my choice. They will even pack the meal in a real picnic basket if you don't need to use a cooler during transportation. We heartily recommend a Scanway picnic as a way to give someone a special treat.

Stunning waterfront spot in Halifax with a beautiful ambiance. The seafood was top-tier — our seafood stew was full of flavour, the oysters crisp and fresh, the salmon tender and cooked just right. Service was beyond good; Costa was attentive and the whole team came across friendly and professional. The wine list deserves mention: a nice selection, well matched to the seafood. On the flip side: it isn’t cheap, but you do get what you pay for. It has a bit of a “tourist destination” feel, and the interior can get lively (and loud) in peak times; if you want a more relaxed meal, consider an earlier slot. Dessert: the butterscotch cake was rich and a bit too sweet for my taste. The Greenhorn cocktail was a strong pour — good but didn’t quite hit the flavour mark for me. Overall: Highly recommended for a special dinner, celebration or when you want scenic dining with good food and fine service in Halifax.

I had wonderful experience here along with my wife. We came without reservation to celebrate our anniversary, and we received a nice service. We sat down outside around 6pm so we would be able to enjoy the sunset. We got jumbo shrimps with garlic for entries and they were delicious and a couple of glasses of wine After that we tried the Spaghetti with Fruti di Mari and the Diavola. We loved so much the food and specially the service. In the end we ordered a dessert and they put a lovely message to make the ocassion more special.

Our favourite place to eat in Halifax. Staff are so well trained and friendly it’s refreshing. But the cuisine…wow! What a dining experience. I can’t believe they can serve so many people at the same time and yet we feel like one chef in the back personally prepared my plate. Everything was perfect, nothing over cooked and presented as if they had nothing else on the go. We loved the scallops and the halibut! The deserts are all homemade but the pistachio gelato is something you need to try even if you think you’re too full, try it anyway. Right on the pier as well so you can walk right after.

You can see that most of the reviews here are very favourable for this restaurant. That's because the food, the service, the ambience, the location, are all spectacular. The food we had was faultless! It was delicious, beautifully presented, and the wait staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and helpful. No wonder this restaurant is a hit! It was my daughter's birthday vacation and they surprised her with a sundae brought out in a tall glass, on a plate with Happy Birthday written on it. We had been recommended this place by a number of people and had tried to get a table the first time we were in Halifax but couldn't make it work. We were heading back through a ND thought we would try again and made it work and am so glad we did. The service was perfect and our server was delightful. I really appreciated that she asked about allergies and issues from the outset as many places do not cater and we have someone in our family that has a lot of difficulty due to allergies. The space was well set up and felt intimate while also being quite open. We ordered a few appetizers to share and out mains and the food was all excellent. Had the tuna tartare and would highly recommend. Would definitely recommend a reservation but it is worth the wait.

Located just outside the waterfront, reservations are recommended or you would sit at the bar. Nevertheless, the food was amazing! I had the seafood cioppino and it was loaded with seafood, the bread it came with was great too! Pasta and calamari were also delicious. They also gave us their homemade foccacia and while it was good, it would been even better if it was warmed. Definitely a worthy spot to check out in Halifax.

Took my family here for dinner. The service was great. The food was ok. We started with an octopus appetizer and the flavour was just ok. It was nothing to race about. My partner ordered a risotto with scallop. The risotto was too aldente. My daughter ordered a crab tortellini and it was also too aldente. The sauce was terrific. Had a great taste of lemon. I had Linguine Fra Diavolo Sautéed Jumbo Shrimp. My pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauce I thought was not spicy enough.

a Mano used to be one of my go-to spots three years ago, with its rich, diverse menu and bold, memorable flavors. Unfortunately, the recent visit left me feeling underwhelmed. The updated menu is now heavily seafood-focused, and the smell of seafood was quite strong as soon as you get in the restaurant, something I personally don’t enjoy. At first glance, we even considered leaving, but decided to give it a try. We ordered two pizzas, which were just average, not bad, but nothing memorable either. The fettuccine, unfortunately, was overwhelmed by lemon flavor. That was the only note I could taste, and I barely managed three bites. Don't get me wrong, I love lemon but I was hoping for rich creamy fettuccine. The tomato-based pasta was okay, nothing special. I also wasn’t a fan of the soft drinks being from a fountain machine, something I tend to avoid. Overall, I really miss the a Mano of the past. The quality and variety that once made this place special seem to have faded. I hope they consider bringing back some of the original charm.

I was there today for lunch and I can confirm that everything was excellent. The linguine with clams was good, just a little too much chilli. The fried calamari was good. The tiramisu was good but it could improve if they used less mascalpone. I will definitely go back.

I’d call this place pretty good. They do homemade pasta really really well here. The ravioli in particular was excellent! Service was lovely. I did find the food and the vibe to be lacking in authenticity. Take for example the sad bread (pictured here) which costs 8$ and is served with what tastes like spicy salsa from a jar.. Just not my cup of tea really. My steak was cooked properly but underseasoned. If you’re craving a glass of wine and a bowl of homemade pasta then a mano is a good choice. All around though, this place gave me a corporate vibe and I think there are better places to eat in Halifax. Would give 3.5 stars if I could.

We came here twice while in Halifax. The first time was on Thanksgiving. The food and drinks were amazing but the service was a bit lacking. We were left on our own a little too long and there was some clear communication gaps between the servers about our asks. Luckily the tiramisu was out of this world and we had to come back for seconds. Our second trip was amazing. The servers were great and they helped to accomodate one of our party who had an allergy. Would recommend the tiramisu a million times over. The ravioli and the lobster gnocchi received top marks.

Been here 3 times now on work travel to Halifax. Food is always fantastic. Service is excellent as well. Highly recommend but make reservations as getting in could be difficult without them.

MAKE A RESERVATION! Went on a Thursday and it was absolutely packed at 7 PM. We had a reservation for a nice two top inside. Ordered a drink and meal each, plus bread to start. Serving for the bread was small, I’d recommend a different starter. Pastas were great, I believe the whole menu is solid and can’t imagine a problem with any item, everyone around us was happy and satisfied. Our service was great, enjoyed a free scoop of gelato for our anniversary with a sparkler. Drinks were a mimosa and the “secret agent” which were presented amazingly and tasted great. Prices are reasonable considering the waterfront atmosphere.

Overall a good restaurant, and one of my wife’s favourites. However, I will never order takeout from here again. Waiting 48 minutes, when I was told it would take 30 minutes is fine, it happens. But, dealing with a disrespectful, unprofessional, and unwelcoming host ruins the experience. He couldn’t have been worse if he tried. The lady at the front was kind and helpful, but the gentlemen ruined the experience and dinner. Thanks.

We had the most incredible meal we had at Il Mercato on NYE, but I'm just getting caught up on my reviews. First off, our waitress was excellent. We started with the Flamingo Club cocktail and appetizers, Pan Seared Scallops with mushroom and truffle cream, and jumbo shrimp with garlic & wine sauce. Our entrees were the Chicken Parmesan and their evening special, Snow Crab Ravioli with limoncello beurre Blanc. We were too full for a full dessert so we had an Affogato for a bit of sweet and hopefully avoid a nap from all that delicious pasta. Absolutely delicious, we loved every aspect of this meal and experience.

Came for lunch and had a lovely time. Extremely attentive staff. Food was excellent. I honestly was a bit doubtful I'd be full because the presentation was lovely but looked deceptively small. But this was really well made pasta that tastes delicious and fills you up. Lots of people couldn't finish their dish. Great dessert options, authentic coffee options, lots of alcoholic and non alcoholic options too. Complimentary bread. The lasgna was epic. Lovely patio seating as well.

As a semi regular the Il Mercato, I love trying new things on the menu. We had the scallop tagliatelle and the pork tenderloin. The tagliatelle was great, although I suggest for service to wait until customers have tried their food to offer cheese/pepper (big pet peeve - how do I know if it needs more of either until I try it?). The pork was also slightly overcooked, but otherwise really good.

Loved my visit to ll Mercato! The salmon was cooked perfectly - flaky, tender and so flavorful. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere. Our server was warm, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and the atmosphere felt cozy yet upscale - soft lighting, tasteful decor and a relaxed vibe.

I absolutely loved the Tagliatelle con Capesante pasta perfectly cooked and full of flavor! 🍝 The service was impressively fast, and our food arrived much quicker than expected. A special shout-out to Tyler, who was incredibly accommodating and genuinely friendly. His attention to detail really made the experience even better. Highly recommend!

This food at this restaurant is SO good!! The restaurant is a little bit loud, but you are so focussed on how delicious the food is that you forget about that. And all the staff are very friendly, professional and attentive. Our family eats at many restaurants in this city and we as a family all agree that this is the best restaurant in Halifax!

Amazing place for dinner and special occasions, Italian food and hospitality at its best! Cocktail and mocktails are unique and flavourful. I had vegetarian pasta (Primavera), specially recommended by the server, it was amazing! Bruschetta and Focaccia bread the best ever I had. Desserts are from the gourmet category, extremely creamy, perfect texture and exquisite taste! The best birthday cake for my special day. My friend had reserved the patio table for the dinner and the temperature was perfect, that made quite the ambiance for the dinner.

The salad was delicious, as well as the steak. Perfectly medium rare and buttery soft! The sides and sauce for it were divine. Only thing I didn’t really enjoy was the ball shaped rice dish? Forgot the name, found the idea of it good but it was a bit dry, maybe if it were saucier inside. Everything else was great though, service was awesome, a bit cramped space but not bad

We enjoyed our dinner here. The food is quite good, with a decent price range. Their seasoning is on par with expectations. Our "pizza" is interesting, but the paste saved it. The atmosphere was great, but they were busy when we arrived. The service is good, but we didn't get much attention, maybe because of the reason above. Not really their fault Overall, I would recommend it to everyone trying them out.

Atlantic salmon was really nice. Good balance of grilled fresh salmon, sauce and vegetables a balance sour and salty. Service was earnest and excellent. Pub was a bit dark and the table lights didn't work but otherwise a pretty nice experience.

We were just passing through the area and stopped in based on Google reviews — what a great decision! Everything about this restaurant was on point. The space is stylish and welcoming, and the service is some of the best I’ve experienced. Our server was polite, quick, and clearly very familiar with the menu. We ordered a few shareable plates, and each one was better than the last. The standouts were the truffle fries and the garlic butter prawns. We weren’t planning to stay for dessert, but after seeing it go to other tables, we had to — and we’re glad we did. The chocolate tart was rich and decadent. Would absolutely return next time we’re in town.

We love this place, having a family dinners and celebrations almost every month here! Amazing food! Usually also a kind and friendly service! But today was a strange thing, where we were waiting for the coctali for 20 minutes... It could happened, for sure... But we do like to come to this place as our fav restaurant! The restaurant is beautiful. The ambiance is amazing. The staff were all friendly! We went with our toddler- they don’t have a kids menu but you can order half servings of pasta. We each ordered a different dish- all phenomenal!

I tried the mango cheesecake and ice coffee. Staff members are friendly and explained to me they are made in stores. Cheesecake cafe and people games for them. They are not too sweet, just right, the mango and raspberry sauces are great. Anyone who does not want to have too sweet cheesecake is a good choice.

That was one of the best cheesecakes I’ve had in over a decade. I had the London fog cheesecake. Sadly I don’t live in Halifax so not sure when I’ll have it again :(. Staff was also really helpful and kind. My boyfriend had the brownie and also loved it. Ambience was great!

I think this may be the best. Geese ale I have ever had! Boston Cream pie made with their homemade Venetian cream. Absolutely divine!

This cheesecake was one of the best I've ever had! It was so good that I wish the slices were bigger. I got the marble one. I loved how you could actually taste the cream cheese and it was not overpowering. The staff was super friendly!

First of all, the decor in this place is so pretty! I met up with a friend to try the new cheesecake flights. The flavours were strawberry shortcake, London fog, Kit Kat, Crispy Crunch, raspberry lemon and Wunderbar. They were all absolutely delicious, my favourite being the Wunderbar. Perfectly chocolatey and peanut butter-y without being overly sweet or rich. I can't wait to come back and try more flavours in the future! All of the staff were so friendly as well! 😊

I had the Boston cream cheesecake and it was amazing! So creamy it melted in my mouth, if I could give ten stars, I would!

I dread having to go get anything on Quinpool. The traffic is a nightmare and the parking is scarce. However, if there ever was a reason to brave those fears it's Sweet Hereafter. Absolutely amazing cheesecake! Nice cozy atmosphere. If you haven't gone, do yourself a favor and go have a slice.

I mean, where to begin. First of all the service/people working here are truly warm and lovely. My server gave the best recommendations. My lunch was incredible. Best Ceasar salad I've ever had, hands down. Looking forward to one day coming back and trying the famous dragon fries. 😍

We are very fortunate to have a few tasty vegan options in Halifax but nothing comes close to Wild Leek! I can't express how yummy this place is in words! So many options! A must try! 🌿

I've had a few things here over the past few days I've been in Halifax and I feel pretty good about my decision. I've had the choco-lite smoothie, wild bowl, titanic burrito, elixir juice, carrot cake, mac n cheese, and two different kombuchas (the lavender sage one and the rosehip hibiscus). My favourite things so far were the smoothie, mac n cheese, and dragon sauce. Unfortunately for me and my taste buds I found the burrito kinda of one note ~ I was hoping for more diverse flavours between everything that is in there (a symphony if you will). The carrot cake tasted kind of funny to me... it is hard to describe but I was expecting more cinnamon-carrot and to me it was a bit more clove I guess? I am not sure - I was also not a fan of the whipped topping. The wild bowl was good, and the dragon sauce really helped, but I do think it should come with one more little container as the vegetables and tofu are quite chunky and the rice isn't flavoured ~ so the sauce didn't go a long way and it basically ended up tasting like plain vegetables half way through. They do charge more for extra sauce so yeahhh... For me it would have been better if the veggies and tofu were more bite sized so I could get a bit of everything, instead of taking a big bite of broccoli or kale with some rice or tofu. Or maybe if the tofu was marinated (?longer)... I am sorry I am not trying to dissect the food ~ just wanting to share some feedback. The kombucha was great, local, and just a standard booch. I want to come here again one day (I am from BC) and try other things ~ I want to try the green juice! I love a good pineapple and greens juice :)

Great menu for vegan food lovers. The the wild bowl is delicious with the dragon sauce being the mvp. I only wish it was a bit flavorful. For someone who eats flavorful and spicy food, the one tiny bowl of the sauce is not enough. I asked for extra sauce and was charged for it, which felt a bit unnecessary. I tried the chocolate and banana cupcake which was delicious. I also got their fresh juice (orange, ginger, citrusy one). The dining area is small so it will be crowded during peak hours. The staff is great!! The overall cost for the meal for one was around 50$ including the tip, which felt expensive especially given the small portion sizes.

I have had food here before and it's very good but I bought cupcakes here today and they are incredible. I had to share how delicious they are. The chocolate one is dairy free and it's the best dairy free cupcake I've ever had and one of the best cupcakes I've ever had. The cake is so moist and the frosting is delicious. The strawberry one is incredible and also gluten free. Definitely the best gluten free cake I've had. Good texture and taste. Very impressed!

Found the Almonak as we were going to be in Halifax for the day. Greeted by the coolest “linebacker” ever! Then proceeded with the most fun waiter ever! The meal was spectacular. I don’t say that lightly either. We’ve been on the road for two months (across the US, toured Newfoundland for a month, and just now heading back home to California) and have stopped for breakfast/brunch countless times and this was easily #1. I ordered the Gouda, Bacon, Caramelized Onion Eggs Benedict that came with roasted potatoes and a green salad - YUM! I can’t say enough about this contemporary and innovative cafe, so good. My only tiny issue is that they need some noise dampening medium/fabric to quiet it a bit. I’d return in a heartbeat though if it were closer to California!

My wife and I are here for the first time today and the atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and vibrant! I got the classic breakfast which was perfect & my wife got the GF classic egg’s Benedict! Both meals came out incredibly fast and was really warm and delicious! They have so many dietary options and is a must-try in the HRM!

Good food and great coffee, a lil pricey. We were a big table and they waited until after we ordered a second cup of coffee to tell us that we need to leave since we exceeded the 75 min on the table. I've been to some resturaunts where its dine and go vibes from how popular and busy they are. But they wait until youre done eating and their service is super fast so you get the hint. I just felt annoyed that they waited until after the 2nd cup of coffee was ordered and served to tell us that we need to leave. My sister had no time to drink it, it was super awkward. Then we had to reach out to staff for a to go cup, I wasnt sure if they expected she would chug it or just leave it untouched. But besides that hiccup in service. The food and coffee were great thats why we asked for seconds.

Their savory danishes are my top choice! They have limited cafe drink options, but have the staples. And that's OK cus the pastries and lunch combos are the stars of the show. I have always found seating for at least 2 people between 10 and 12, and 2 and 4pm without issue. So a great meeting place for catching up with friends, colleagues, or clients. May you be blessed with the timing of visiting them while they are baking chocolate cakes. That aroma!

I got a Vanilla Strawberry cake from The Bread Lounge for Mother’s Day, and it was a total hit! All the moms absolutely loved it—the flavor was light, fresh, and just the right amount of sweet. Everyone kept asking where the cake was from! It looked beautiful too, perfect for the occasion. Definitely going back to The Bread Lounge for our next celebration.

Came in based on the high rating. Ordered the red velvet cheese cake. The cake was dry and stale including the cheese cake part itself. It had no flavour. For over $8 + tax, it was not worth it. There was no service to even comment on.

After calling several bakeries with no luck—most didn’t have any ready-made cakes left at the end of the day—I reached out to Piece of Cake. To my surprise, someone kindly offered to try and make a cake within 30 minutes and asked for a bit of time to confirm with their delivery person. They followed up shortly after to confirm that delivery would be possible. The entire experience—from the prompt and clear text communication to the on-time delivery—was absolutely seamless. The cake itself was delicious and beautifully made. It truly saved the day, especially since I live in Calgary and couldn’t be there in person. We had our Christmas dinner from Jane’s. It was so good. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and generous portions. We even had leftovers for Boxing Day. It was nice to not have spent 2 days in the kitchen!

These sandwiches used to be made fresh daily, but that doesnt seem to be the case anymore. The "fresh artisan bread" was most definitely stale. The lettuce, wilted and soft. The amount and quality of the meat was questionable and even a bit sour? I took two bites and stopped eating cause it was so bad. Definitely not worth $10+ dollars.

Jane's recently catered a birthday party for 30 people with beautifully presented platters. Ordering through the website was incredibly easy, they were extremely professional and attentive to an allergy. They delivered the food to our location and it could not have been more straightforward. Hot and cold dishes were delicious and all guests raved about the food. I would definitely have them cater future events.

Jane's provided a catered dinner and dessert for us for my mother's birthday party this year! Jovaria was lovely to work with and the kitchen was extremely accommodating with our dietary restrictions. The serving sizes were huge and there were rave reviews from the party guests! We will definitely order from Jane's again!

Food was very tasty and interaction with staff was great! Very friendly and personable. The only reason I give 4/5 is because the portion sizes are a bit smaller than I expected. We ordered the family bundle and felt it was moreso suited for a couple. Also… probably an oversight on my part and no effect on the rating… the website has a section called “Jane’s frozen” so I figured the bundles listed above were not frozen but they are 😅 . Wasn’t a big deal but just an fyi in case anyone else has mom brain! Food definitely super tasty!! Just wish there was more of it!

We recently ordered birthday dinner for 10 from 'jane's'. The food was good (especially the Black Tiger Shrimps + farfalle). The staff were friendly and helpful. We were unfortunately surprised by a very large bug in one of the meals. The owner was impolite and unpleasant - as was the beef stir fry which included the large bug. An unfortunate end to a heretofore pleasant experience. Staff = 5 stars. Meal = 4 stars. Owner + bug = 0 stars.

Jane's soba noodle bowls are the highlight of my weekly lunches. One of the best healthy yummy and filling dishes. Plus all their sweets cater to all dietary needs without compromising taste or texture. Definitely recommend stopping by Jane's when you need a quick treat or great lunch.

My friend and I went to Ori Foods yesterday for a nice brunch and found the food was beyond expectations. My friend ordered the octopus on the special menu and I got a lamb flatbread. Both of us enjoyed the food from the first bite. The flatbread tasted crunchy and juicy; the green onions and the sour cream on top added to the richness of the sauce, which I used a piece of croissant to save and savor. And the croissant was wonderful too!

We finally checked out Ori Foods this weekend and it’s a very cute spot. Super small but done nice and the server we had ,(a recent hire), was very nice. My girl and I were super hungry and when I looked online I felt like this place wasn’t too expensive and would be a good choice for a quick and delicious lunch. Unfortunately the portions here are very small. I noticed they had Lemon Tarts that looked amazing so we promptly ordered two of those and a couple sandwiches to share. The Lemon Tarts came first so we started with dessert and they are one of the best lemon tarts I’ve had. Basically a perfect 5/5 on those even though they are kinda small for $7; the size is made up for by the flavour and fresh strawberries on top! We shared the breakfast sandwich and the Brisket on Rye, so half of each for my girl and I, and we left hungry. The breakfast sandwich was kinda bland with a really nice bun and the Brisket on Rye was tasty but super thin and I felt it was difficult to get a good bite without all the meat coming out at once. I don’t feel I got a great value for the >$50 I spent on lunch but I did enjoy the tart and might return for dessert and coffee. I also don’t really like paying/tipping before I get my food/experience a place. Sides with the sandwiches and bigger portions for slightly more cost would be nice and maybe all-day breakfast on weekends since they close at 4pm and breakfast is 9am-11am. 5/5 for dessert, 5/5 on ambiance, 5/5 customer service, 2/5 on each sandwiches, 2/5 value. Overall a 3.5/5 but google doesn’t allow partial stars so I’m giving a 3/5 based on how hungry I was after lunch and feeling rather disappointed about it.

Only 4 tables are available inside and some customers are not mindful about other customers waiting at the door and take their time to enjoy lingering. Unagi (eels) crepe was a fantastic dish and very affordable for what it is. Definitely go back. Wish it was on the other side of the bay;).

this is my first time to Nova Scotia and I wanted to try what was supposedly the best restaurants in downtown. Water polo absolutely did not disappoint. In the moment I walked in to the moment I left was an extraordinary experience. I had three types of oysters that were brilliantly displayed, and then I had the post halibut which was beyond exceptional. The service was flawless. The bonus was at the potato chips that they make there or the best potato chips. I think I’ve ever had in my entire life. If you ever find yourself a Nova Scotia water polo is the perfect place for a wonderful dinner along the bay. Seriously. I rarely rave about restaurants this much I like.

Overall friendly staffs. It's a bit busy places little hard to find your server when you need anything. Food quality is over my expectations. Thumbs up! Especially seafood dishes. I really enjoy the shrimp pasta. It's well balanced source pair with large prown cooked to perfection. We went back another day for lunch. Fish and chips was my pick. It never disappointed me.

We visited Water Polo for the first time with my family on June 3rd. We were celebrating my husband and my mom's birthdays. Mr. Hakkan, the owner, welcomed us with a warm greeting and even brought us complimentary champagne. We still can't believe how nice that was. It was a Tuesday, but the restaurant was packed. Our server, Gabriel, ensured that our experience was fantastic, making it a memorable celebration. Our food arrived right on time, and we spent the evening enjoying ourselves. Just as we were about to check out, our server surprised us with a free dessert. All in all, we had a great first experience here, and we will definitely return!

My server was extremely friendly and helpful! Service was fast and we had a nice seat on the beautiful harbour facing patio. Everything we had was amazing except for the maki rolls and the croquettes which I would not recommend. The tacos were a special that they were testing, but if available, I would definitely highly recommend.

We came in on a Saturday night and the place was full, so making a reservation is a good idea. We ended up sitting at the bar, which turned out to be a unique experience. The service was attentive and the atmosphere was lively. Great food and drinks, worth the visit.

My favorite bakery and café! Delicious pastries and great coffee. We pick-up a box of different pastries every now and then and they are so good. Lovely atmosphere inside as well. This is my new favourite place. I’ve never had a bad thing from here. The pastries are amazing. The sourdough is fantastic. Had the Easter box and it was delicious. Tonight we had the lemon pistachio cake for Mother’s Day dessert and it was a huge hit. The owner is always so nice and the staff are super. I’m gushing but I mean it. This place is always packed and I’m so happy to see their success. I hope that means they’re around for a long time!!!

The food here is always fantastic, which is why I'm a customer. I'm a consistent tipper when I dine in, as I believe in rewarding good service. That said, I was taken aback when picking up a takeout order to find a strong expectation for a tip. I've always understood tipping to be optional, primarily for table service. “Having it addressed at checkout felt inappropriate. “ I still love your food but wanted to share this feedback on the takeout process.

It’s very busy on Sat. Pastries are good but cake are too North American like…quite sweet and heavy. Wish they had light whipping cream + custard with fruits, healthy choices. Good atmosphere. Average price - $7-8. $5 for a plain croissant.

This little cafe on Almon street is wonderful! They lured me in with the scent of delicious cinnamon baked goods. They offer a range of beverages and they bake all of their pastries in house so they are very fresh. The egg sandwich is hearty and yummy! If you’re looking for a local cafe to support please put this one on your list. You won’t be disappointed!

Ordered a matcha white chocolate cookie and an iced matcha latte with oat milk. The cafe was very cozy, they played great music, and the staff were nice! The iced matcha latte was a pretty average, I felt as though I tasted more milk than the matcha. The cookie was great though! Not too sweet.

Suda Table is an absolute gem! We tried the salmon roll and the brie/apple sandwich — both were incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The service was fantastic; super friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Their baked goods were also a highlight — everything looked amazing, and what we tried was delicious. Paired with a great latte, it made for the perfect lunch stop. Highly recommend!

I'm afraid to say specifically which one because it'll likely be tried more often and It'll make it harder for me to find, but it's easily one of the best things in Halifax. Coffee, people are fantastic. A beautiful addition to the cafe surge scene, especially alongside creative cup where you can get amazing sandwich too.

Cute little take out sandwich stop. I’ve gotten sourdough from them before and they have the best sourdough bread ever! So get one. The sandwiches are presented very nicely, they taste good, but nothing out of the ordinary, the pickle and chips are a 2dll add on, but you only get a quarter of a pickle so that’s sad :(….. The store has tons of little jams, sauces, sardines and other fun stuff. We didn’t try the drinks! Good simple food.

The bread is so freaking fresh and smooshy, yum. It was a standard turkey & cheese but the bread made it. The pickle was delicious too, wish it was a full pickle. We bought a sourdough loaf as well, that’s a must each time!

Had an impromptu date night here on a busy evening in Halifax as it was the only place we could get in right away. We really liked it! The patio is gorgeous and feels very private with the way the planters are set up. It was nice to be outside but not feel like you’re being stared at by all the people walking by - very smart design! The food was great. We didn’t take pictures of our appetizers because we were too hungry. We had the mussels and beef tongue as our mains and they were both delicious. A bit expensive but to be expected for this area. They are smaller plates as well but that is also to be expected as it is a “tapas bar.” Overall very happy with our experience.

Authentic Spanish Vibes & Amazing Food! Matadors offers an incredible dining experience that truly transports you to Barcelona. The ambience is warm and inviting, with a beautifully designed space that enhances the overall experience. We started with SQUID A LA PARRILLA and GAMBAS AL AJILLO—both were absolutely delicious, packed with authentic flavors. For the main course, we had the NS LOBSTER PAELLA, which was cooked to perfection with fresh ingredients and rich, deep flavors. We enjoyed our meal so much that we didn’t have room for dessert, but the manager generously surprised us with CHURROS, adding the perfect sweet touch to end our night. It was a thoughtful gesture that made our experience even more special!

I had no idea about this Tapas Bar in Halifax but the upon discovery I have to say that the food was excellent. The Chicken and Chorizo Paella was very tasty. The ambiance and music felt European but most of all the food was just very delicious. That was the important part for me and I would go back there for sure.

We tried Matadora on the Halifax waterfront tonight for the first time. We had high expectations as we had heard good reviews from a few friends. The atmosphere & music were both great, service was above average, some dishes were good, some were not. Their wine list and cocktail menu offer numerous choices and the red wine I had was delicious. The apps we chose were patatas bravas, gambas al ajillo, and croquetas de jamon. For the main we shared the NS lobster paella. For dessert we shared the pastel vasco cake. The apps were decent, they weren’t out of this world delicious but they were good. The croquetas were very salty. I like salt but this was borderline too much. The paella was also very salty and the rice tasted very musty and strange. I don’t know how else to describe it. We have had paella many times all over the world and this was not good. The mussels were super tiny (pinky fingernail size for a few) and very over cooked. I find this very disappointing due to where we live with access to the finest seafood in the world. The lobster was cooked perfectly as well as the shrimp. The cake we shared for dessert was a little crumbly/dry but very tasty. I really enjoyed the pistachio crema. Today, with extra funds being tight for most, I’d pick a different restaurant for quality assurance.

Cute looks, food was meh. Sangria is average (heard it was supposed to be really good), however the Turista cocktail was sweet and delightful. Oh! My friend’s Diet Coke was flat, even asked for them to pour a new one… no one wants flat soda. Other friend got non alcoholic drink (something with “garden”in it) she said it was bad and just bitter. I didn’t order the food so i apologize for not knowing the dish names. Grated tomatoes on sourdough was soggy (tomatoes were fresh; bread was fresh and soft and would have been great with butter , but together … a gross wet soggy mess.) Maybe if the sourdough was toasted, it would have held the fresh tomato juice better but alas, it’s a no for me. Their potatoes with tomato sauce and aioli were very reminiscent of runny ketchup and mayo, also too wet and saucy. Their chicken paella was a bit too al dente (could have used maybe 3 more min of cooking) and for $52 could have had a lot more protein. BUT their sea bream with mandarins? Was great! So fresh and aromatic, yum. It was my friend’s birthday and the waitress overheard and brought her a gelato with a sparkler… and we thought aw how thoughtful…and then we saw it was charged on our bill. It wasn’t expensive ($4) but felt weird to have it added on when we didn’t ask for it, when usually little surprises like that are free? (For example Mystic gives you a cute lil cake FOR FREE if they know you’re celebrating something) so it was just weird. So beware, don’t say you’re celebrating something unless you want surprises on your bill 😂 Other than that, the waitress was delightful.

I had high expectations from this bakery considering it has been long running. Customer service was okay. I was only able to try two different sandwiches, and two different desserts and they were all just okay. I had better breakfast sandwich at Reno's. I had better sausage roll at European Pantry. I had better hot sandwich at Pete's. I love their coffee. I do like their house-made dessert.

I really like this bakery. Is a bakery a dying breed? It was a challenge to find a place to get a fancy birthday cake. It's not everyday I buy a fancy birthday cake and $37 is nothing to sneeze at, they look the part and you can order something special if you like but I wanted to buy something off the shelf.Great helpful friendly instructive staff and that means a lot. I love the stools and the counters by the windows. A great place to hangout. I hope to come back and try some of the tasty bits for lunch soups and pizzas and chilis. I've been on a diet as of late so I was really looking forward to tasting this chocolate cake but I have to admit I was a little let down. It was a little too heavy and dense for my taste, maybe heated up with some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream and it would have been perfect. Maybe it was perfect and I just don't like chocolate cake as much as I thought I did :-) I did try a cupcake sized ‘birthday cake’ (sadly I can’t recall the name) which was a white pound cake and white icing which I found delicious. Great coffee as well.

Good coffee, though it is self serve and there are no free refills. I enjoyed the baked goods we sampled. The tables are awkward, wobbly and oddly placed. When they chose the metal backed chairs I'm guessing they didn't take into account the amount of glare from the sun. It was pretty uncomfortable but would be fine on an overcast day or in the morning when the sun isn't coming right through the front window, bouncing off the chairs and burning my retinas. Free wifi and reasonable prices though. I would go again but not on a sunny afternoon.

I was really excited when I moved to Halifax from Montreal and found this little bakery near where I live. I thought it would be the perfect place to pick up breakfast before work and order cakes for birthdays. Unfortunately, I must agree with some of the other reviewers, the customer service is awful. Last time I was helped by a cutesy hipstery girl named Sarah (sp?) who looked a lot like a brunette version of Taylor Swift. She messed up my order at least three times and still over charged me! I wouldn't be writing a review had this been my only negative experience, but, sadly, there have been many. I have also found hair in my food several times. Is it that difficult to get competent staff?

New review: If I had to pick somewhere to go for breakfast that wasn't The Ardmore Tea Room, it would be Smith's Bakery. Everything here is nothing short of phenomenal. They offer breakfast and lunches, corfee, a huge assortment of baked goods, drinks from a cooler, etc. Prices are extremely reasonable given the quality, everything feels very homey and cozy. $5 for fresh bread, $3 for yesterday's fresh bread IF they have any left. I heartily recommend the breakfast sandwich, it'll set you up for a late lunch. Original review: The food is so good I don't have any pictures of it.

Definitely not like years ago. The sweets are overpriced, the cake is not like year's ago. Disappointed over the years. I was 6 when my Mom would go every day to buy something from there I'm now 58 it was friendly, the bakery was amazing! Today it's all about the money and I agree with others, the product is getting smaller and the price went up.

Found this spot in our search for gluten-free & dairy-free options in Halifax. So glad we did! The baked goods were amazing (we arrived right as the muffins came out of the oven and were still warm)! We left with cookies, which I am now devouring as I write this. The fact that this is a social enterprise is the absolute cherry on top, but don't for one second think you are going there as any sort of compromise; you are not, quite simply, some of the best gluten-free baking I have had anywhere. The service was friendly and made us feel like locals (the best compliment I can give to anyplace). I will also add, that by gluten-free standards, the prices are excellent ($3 for muffins, $1 for cookies).

I ordered two boxes of gluten-free cookies to celebrate a birthday with my friends, one of whom is celiac. (I ordered the ginger cookies & chocolate crinkles. Twenty-six cookies fed six adults with a couple left over.) The order was ready on time, the people at the cafe were fantastic, and the baked goods were phenomenal. I will definitely be placing additional orders in the future for gluten-free treats!

I stumbled upon this spot by accident, and I'm so glad I did. What a great little bakery & café. The staff were so friendly. The baked goods are delicious, as is the coffee. This will definitely be in my rotation of regular spots to grab coffee when in the city.

This is the best gluten free bakery in the city. The staff are super sweet and the food is amazing. It is also affordable, which is a huge bonus. They make wonderful cookies boxes and cater too. Pictured is a cookie and 2 muffins which were only $7. I forgot my wallet and the staff let me have the items and told me to pay next time (which I will). Update Dec 21st: went to pick up my Christmas cookie order and had to order extra cookies because they looked so yummy I knew I would want more. I really can't describe how good the cookies are that I ate so far. If you haven't gone you need to go. The prices are amazing and the staff are so friendly and nice.

I'm very disappointed with the pies I've bought the last couple of times. For thanksgiving I got a pumpkin and apple crumble pie, and while the apple was good the pumpkin was severely underwhelming, barely any filling and overheard one of my guests refer to it as new york style. I got another apple crumble pie for another event and while it looked good opening the box, topped up to the crust with toppings, a cross section shows it should just be called crumble pie. Again barely any filling. For $16 a pie I was expecting something a little more gourmet, not something I could have gotten out of the freezer bunker at gateway for 1/4 the price.

The best little hometown bakery and deli/cafe! Excellent selection of hand picked European goods, pastries and coffee. Delicious sandwiches and catering! We go at least once a week as a family for a treat or lunch. Thanks for bringing such a wonderful spot to our little community!

Really lovely coffee shop and desserterie. It is nicely decorated, staff is very lovely as well. The chaï latte, with an add of pumpkin spice syrup for the fall lovers like me (even in spring), was delicious. Same for the lemon turnover, it was amazing. Would be even greater if it had a bike stand since it is nearby a trail, but still a really nice stop ! :)

The vandals donuts we came to is on the harbor. That location is not on Google Maps. The donuts were huge, based great and they sell shirts, hoodies and other trinkets. Very nice place to chill.

On top of the amazing treats, the shop also sells cool merch like accessories and t-shirts, which makes the place feel more like a lifestyle brand than just a donut shop. Service was not great. The one lady was serving a customer and the other girl behind the register told us to go back and wait for help. We went back and stood there for a few moments until that same girl came back over to serve us. Did not find her very approachable or polite. The store was cute , had a lot of options , all photo worthy doughnuts. Boyfriend got a chuckle out of the Homer Dougnuts and Homer balls. We ended up ordering a classic honey glazed doughnut and a Lemon Raspberry doughnut. Both fresh and delicious . The lemon raspberry was top notch especially with the freeze dried raspberry pieces ontop. Would recommend

The local place where we usually get our donuts from was closed for the long weekend, so we drove to Gottingen to get Vandals. Those donuts were WAY too sweet. One of my children (10 yrs) scooped out the filling, the other one (6 yrs) refused to eat it because it was “gross”. I enjoyed their coffee though, so I gave the review an extra star.

Fun place! Reminded me of Voodoo Donuts in Orlando, Florida. Atmosphere is great. Donuts are different than your typical donut place and they are delicious. We had the Lemon Raspberry donut. It didn't disappoint.

If you’ve ever tried Voodoo Donuts, I’d say that these donuts remind me of those but I think I prefer these ones more. Theyre huge donuts & they have a ton of flavours. The donuts were pretty tasty, but they were also standard. They were on the dense side. They had fun flavours overall. We bought one of different flavours to try as dessert. They paired pretty well with a cup of tea.

This bakery has been around for quite a while. I always enjoy getting cookies and bagels from here. Keep in mind that its main business is from cookies and bagels. Don't expect much else. It's awesome to have a popular kosher bakery around Halifax.

Not only does East Coast Bakery have some of the best challah in town, they are also staffed with the sweetest humans around. I was 10min late to pick up some items I hadn’t even paid for yet; not only did they call and ask if I was still coming, they stayed open until I got there! Truly so wonderful. Bagels are delicious and staff are friendly, but it is frustrating that bagels and buns are only sold by half dozen or dozen. For university students with little freezer and refrigeration space, it makes the offer a lot less appealing.

Accidentally discovered this spot while walking to our car after lunch. The chimney cakes were wonderfully tasty as we had not had dessert. I had these a couple of years ago in Budapest and these were as good if not better. Will certainly return again. They are fantastic with tea or coffee.

They operate food truck also, they post inaccurate hours for their food truck. They posted an add on Facebook marketplace, I responded to the add with my bad customer service experience. Rather then try and fix the issue they decided to say that I shouldn't post recomending people to not go there "in times like this" So basically hiding behind the pandemic for the bad customer service. Then to save their post and have it be all positive they deleted my negative review. ***************************************************In response to the reply from the owner. My negative review on your Facebook marketplace post is no longer there. I did not delete so that leaves either you or an admin. I wouldn't think an admin would care as I have seen people respond about negative customer service experience on posts and they were not deleted. This is not an attack but me as a potential customer telling the world about a bad customer service experience I had. That is what reviews are for. If all reviews were postive there would be no point in them. You obviously use social media, if you were truly sold out why was it not posted there. We checked before we showed up 15 minutes prior to your advertised closing time?

A Positive Change Worth Noticing! I used to feel that Halifax Bread Factory lacked the warmth and customer service you'd expect from a Persian store, and I wasn’t the only one—many shared similar feedback in the past. But I’m genuinely happy to say things have turned around lately. A big part of this positive change seems to be thanks to the new shop assistant—a young lady with a sweet smile who truly embodies the spirit of Persian hospitality. She’s polite, helpful, and radiates such a positive vibe that it transforms the whole shopping experience. Her presence is exactly what this place needed. It’s refreshing to walk in and be greeted with kindness and attentiveness. This is what Persian stores should be known for—genuine hospitality, respect, and that sense of community. I hope the management recognizes what a gem they have in her. Keep up the great work!

Clean, well organized store with bread, cakes, baked goods, nuts, and Iranian products. Product presentation is impeccable and it’s hard not to want to buy multiple items as gifts or snacks. Plenty of parking in the plaza. I would recommend dropping by and checking out what they have in store.

This has quickly become a favourite bakery to shop at in Dartmouth. The loaves of bread are double-long and they can slice it onsite for you. Their molasses brown bread is one of the best I've had. Check out their display counter - the cakes are delicious and you can purchase three slices for a variety package to try them all. You do NOT want to miss out on the cream puffs. On my first visit another customer warned me they were addictive... and she was right. I picked up this tasty coconut macaroons today which are over 90% coconut - no need for flour! The assorted shortbread cookies melt in your mouth - perfection! While the owners service many restaurants around the city, they are open to the public which is lucky for us lovers of great bread and sweet treats.

Such a unique place and lovely food decent prices and great photo ops. The lattes were amazing and they have games and such so great place to hang out and chill with friends. Even more they are the sweetest I forgot my purse there and it have everything. in it 30 min later I called they still had it and all contents 🫶🏼.
