The building was a railroad station before and the theme of the restaurant also railroad related!
My wife and I had their samples and I liked their dark beer which I was not a fan of dark beer before!

I am not sure if I will return. Ambience is great. Food is good. I ordered a chicken pasta, a beer flight, and pretzels with Bavarian butter that was served promptly. However, the servers are very unfriendly. That’s why, the 3 stars. There is a need for the management to train the staff on basic etiquettes.
We were tourists from UK, the staff were welcoming and did their best to help on food and beer options. Found all were really helpful. Really helped that their English was better than our German language. Food is excellent, so on same level as the beer.

Deceptively large pub / restaurant, housed in an old railway station, which is well worth a visit, even a detour, if you’re in or around Leipzig. Home to the famous reinvented gose beer, which should bee tried and can be easily worth a flight of the house beers. Main meals are large and very tasty, pork knuckle especially recommended. Service is excellent, friendly and accommodating. We went twice during a week in Leipzig. Seek it out!
Bayerischer Bahnhof offers good German food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. The fish dish stood out with its vibrant sour notes from the confit lemon slice.
The Goze, a beer from Leipzig, was also excellent. The vibrant food and drink are a refreshing change from the typically heavy German fare.
Amazing level of service and generally friendly atmosphere even for english speaking tourists. Before we left we already knew we will come back there one day again.
Food was absolutely on top. Not even mentioning the price, which is lower than some other restaurant and you can clearly tell the quality here is few levels higher.

We were recommended this place by a local and glad we tried it out. It does seem to be very popular and so booking is recommended, although we arrived on spec, the staff were friendly and managed to find us a table near the bar. The beer is very refreshing and compliments the menu very well. The food is good quality, plentiful and a good price. The service we had on the evening was fast and friendly too.

Gosenschenke Ohne Bedenken Inh. Loreen Heinrich is a rustic 1899 tavern located in Leipzig, Germany, offering traditional Saxon cuisine and Leipzig Gose beer. The tavern features a large beer garden shaded by trees and is housed in a stylish multistory building with classical sensibilities. It is known for reviving the gose Ritterguts style and remains the only open Gosenschenke worldwide.
Our European Beer tour guide (from US) bought us here for our dinner and that was a great choice!
But only bad things about this place is the waiter of waitresses doesn’t speak much of English, this is really authentic local German restaurant!
If you found this place on the Google Maps, you have to come, but you have to be patient here with the slow service to receive your meals. This is not the place for a quick bite!
We really enjoyed the beer and food we ordered. If God permits us to visit Leipzig again, we will love to have another meal here!

We were just trying to find a nice restaurant to visit on our first night in Leipzig. We stumbled across this restaurant and we are very glad that we did.
The beers (Gose in particular) were amazing, and the food was great too.
The waiters were also very kind to us and made it a great night.

As the trainer of the Dutch Team that attended the "Weltmeisterschaft der Biersommeliers 2025", I must say after 3 days tasting Gose in Leipzig, Edelgose is, for me, albeit by just a small lead: The best Gose in town at this moment in time 🍻
Amazing food and beer specialities
As the name suggests, it's a beer garden for a relaxing time. It's a little away from the bustle of the city center and is a calm Biergarten filled with trees.
They boast the award winning Edelgose on tap along with a few other freshly brewed bier. If you visit during the summer, be sure to try the famous Märzen Bier. The also have a popular kitchen in the garden along with a historic indoor dining room. Feel free to ask for a visit!

Lovely place with great atmosphere, cheerful staff, and an impressive menu full of local and general German specialities. Beware: the portions are very generous!! They have a dopple gose on the menu that is pretty unusual, as well as an amazing kümmelbrot (caraway bread) liqueur. A must-visit on a trip to Leipzig

The Goldhopfen is a rustic and relaxed bar in Leipzig with a great selection of craft beers. The atmosphere is perfect for catching up with friends and the music is rocking. The only downside may be that there isn't as much decoration as some guests would like, but the beer is definitely worth checking out!

Lovely place with a very friendly, student vibe. Beers, cocktails are served in a relaxed atmosphere. There's a smoking room, which doesn't affect the rest of the bar. There's a Shabby Chic decor.

Really nice bar! Fun and chill atmosphere ;) Music is also one of the highlights. They got comfortable furniture, however they should have more decoration at the last room (back side) Seems kinda empty and would be great to see some cool pictures here as well. By the way, you should try the Synde IPA. Totally awesome!

Fine craft pub. Offers tap beer as well as bottled craft beer from a number of foreign breweries. Stronger drinks also available, e.g. Krsch, Leipziger Allasch or Beer liquor. Plus very friendly staff.
My favourite bar in Leipzig so far, with an exquisite selection of most interesting craft beers (including non-alcoholic ones) of all styles, varieties and tastes. Staff is very welcoming and attentive, and always ready to advise. The bar is easy to get to by public transportation and located just around the corner of the HTWK. Highly recommended to anyone! :)
Great changing selection of craft beers, both from Germany and abroad. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. If you're into beer, be sure to also check out the selection "off tap". I had a nice time, thanks Dr. Hops!

Huge selction of beers from everywhere in the world and strange different flavours. Perfect atmosphere for an evening with friends, and the waiter/owner was super friendly!

One of the few places in Leipzig with a broad variety of beers for a great price. They regularly offer events like live bands and movie nights. The kurbis-coco soup is very tasty.

Auerbachs Keller is a renowned landmark restaurant in Leipzig, Germany, dating back to 1525. It gained fame as the place where Goethe wrote part of Faust and featured it in his play. The restaurant comprises three distinct spaces: the vaulted Grosser Keller offering hearty Saxon dishes, the Historische Weinstuben for upscale fare and set menus, and the Mephisto Bar serving coffee during the day and cocktails at night.
The atmosphere is wonderful, with beautifully painted walls that create a unique vibe. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed both the garlic soup and the main course, you can truly feel the quality in the food. The prices are a bit on the high side, but it’s definitely worth trying at least once. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience!

The food itself was not really that great but is pretty good with portions. The lamb shoulder I ordered was pretty bland.
We were going to order some dessert but our waitress was no where to be found for 10 minutes. We lost the appetite when she finally shows up!
I've always wanted to visit this famous place, and today I finally had the chance since I was out in the city for some errands and decided to have lunch there.
We visited just before 2 PM, and since it was a quiet time with fewer customers, we were able to get seated immediately. The peaceful and calm atmosphere made for a relaxing meal and good conversation. Thanks to that, we didn’t have to wait or make a reservation, which was very convenient.
However, after being shown to our seats, it took about 10 minutes before we could place our order. The appetizer (soup) was served approximately 25 minutes later, and the main dishes arrived about 30 minutes after that. Altogether, from being seated to receiving our main courses, it took nearly an hour. Fortunately, we had plenty of time today, but if you’re on a tight schedule, I recommend planning accordingly and arriving with extra time.
The staff was polite, the food was delicious, and the portions were very generous. The interior had warm colors and a clean, well-organized feel, which added to the pleasant atmosphere.
This is an old German restaurant in the heart of Leipzig. According to urban legend, it's mentioned in Goethe's immortal Faust. It's advisable to make a reservation, although we were able to find a seat. I really liked the ambiance and service, but the food could have been better.
I went there based on the reviews. Honestly the food portions are huge me & my wife ordered 2 veal schnitzel plates and I believe one was enough with an appetiser perhaps.
Now the atmosphere inside was quite chic and the waiters were quite nice however, it was definitely over priced and there was a rusty smell inside that would not make you comfortable to stay for long.
Keep in mind you would pay for almost anything. I paid 2€ for tap water for 2 cups !! and 2€ to take the leftovers as takeaway which was completely weird for me !! And to top it off using the bathroom was 0.5€ per visit can you imagine this !!!. I would honestly think there are way cheaper places to try the same dish in Leipzig than this one, definitely a touristic trap!!
The boar steak, the Blauklaut and Knodels were absolutely delicious. Also the atmosphere and themes are breathtakingly memorable. If you are in Leipzig, you must visit here!

We do not recommend Auerbachs Keller's vegetarian dishes to vegetarians. The main courses were a big disappointment! We were very curious based on the reviews and to try the restaurant. We did not have a reservation on Saturday evening, but after a few minutes of waiting we got a free table. We knew that mainly meat dishes "go" in the restaurant. However, there were some vegetarian main courses on the online menu, so we were happy to try them. The employees were very nice. The soups were delicious (but extremely overpriced - a small cup is 9-9.50 Euros). Ok. So be it! The cellar is nice! But for the 23 Euro vegetarian main courses to be just stewed greens with a little pasta or cream? Outrageous and underrated! German vegetarian cuisine is much more than that! This visit was a bad gastronomic experience and a waste of money for us. There is no service, if the food is bad!

The pizza was burned and the waiter never returned. I ate the unburned parts. The waiter brought the bill and shrugged his shoulders when I showed him the pizza. Without prior disclosure, a service charge was also added to the bill, and I was told it was standard at their establishment.

The best feature is certainly its proximity to the Thomaskirche, one of Bach's church. They specialize in Italian food and the pizza with salami was fantastic. They also had a tasty winter warmer on tap.
The server added +10% tip to the bill without asking.
When he put the payment machine in front of us, we asked for the bill, he said after we paid we could get the bill.
You can't decide for customers whether or not they tip you. Especially unanounced and untransparant.

I had a nice brunch time in Luise on the weekend. The staff are very friendly and they also brought water for our dog!! So kind! I would definitely visit again! And there were already many people who were sitting outside on the weekend for brunch, so it’s better to book if you want to sit outside :)

Lovely place for a quick brunch in Leipzig as we were heading to the city centre, with great polite staff. I don’t understand why they charge for a glass of water, though. Very peculiar.
This time I visited Café Luise for breakfast and the truth is that the Omelette with different vegetables was a good choice, plus it came with a small portion of salad 😊 It was exquisite so I recommend it!
ordered the sweet potato and brussel sprouts stir fry and it was vile. the sweet potato was raw and the brussel sprouts were clearly boiled not fried and tasted like fart. the portion was also quite small but i still couldn’t finish it. it also cost €15 for that
The food and drinks were really good, I loved having breakfast here! They have a variety of food and drinks to offer. The location is beautiful, you can sit inside as well as outside and there's a lot of space. Also, the staff members were really friendly.
Tasty breakfast, bread is included (not visible in the photo). Coffee is good as well. Nice atmosphere, a bit noisy for my taste but it is a big place. We've waited rather long for the waitress at some point. I would go back here!

We come to Luise on a regular basis and I must say it has the best chicken burger in town. All the food is good but portions can be a bit small. If you are really hungry get the fat-man-burger. It’s big.
Also the basil-smash-cocktail is to die for.
We had a very good breakfast here. Everything was delicious and the waiters super friendly. We reserved for tomorrow again.

The Getränkefeinkost in Leipzig provides beer lovers with a choice of drinks from all over the world. The shop also offers wine, cider, lemonade and spirits. There is no need to carry your beer home; you can simply drink it at the store.
We stopped by to pick up a couple of beers and to have a quiet drink, which would have been a 5* experience given the range of beer/gin/whiskey/rum... available, as well as the staff being very knowledgable and friendly.
We ended up spending a couple of hours there chatting with the staff about different imported beers, whiskey recommendations, and life in general. If I could give a 6* rating I would.

Excellent place for beer lovers. You can find there several hundred kids of beer from all over the world. Also you can drink it directly in the shop. There good choice in the refrigerator too! For now I would say it is the best place in Leipzig where you can buy good beer in bottles

Very good Breuwery in Leipzig. The IPA is more better than what I drunken in America. And I support your various challenging sprit in beer. It was really nice the "Fest bier" especially.

A must visit if you like craft ale!
If you love a really small selection of beautiful locally crafted beer which is full of hop notes, then come here. Absolutely love the Wit beer of this season now.
• Super friendly and attentive staff.
• Seating: probably enough for barely 20 people.
• Location: under a basement of a building which is really easy to pass by if you don't have the address.
• Would be lovely if they have some more types of snacks, eg: salami. But it also makes sense when they don't because of seats shortage. And that basement with the warm cozy vibe there just makes you want to stay longer.
• Seat reservation: recommended. On their website.
• They sometimes have beer workshops too. Price is decent. Pity that we discovered this lovely brewery too late 😭

I drunk many kinds of IPA. and I can say the IPA in this brewery was really nice. I will not be able to forget the memory of the "Fest bier" in here. I definetly recommand this place to the visitor of Leipzig.

I love the historic buildings in this square. Some are over 400 years old. From Friday through Sunday, the street comes alive with food and street performers. I loved the energy and vibe!
The Marktplatz in Leipzig always has something going on. While I visited this year, the Weinfest was happening. Also, from this central place you'll have a great point from which to decide to go to any place in Leipzig.
One of the best in Leipzig. You can do enjoying yourself with nice surrounding you. I spent like 1 hours here. The weather also nice during summer.
Great bars and eateries. Lovely buildings. Great beer. Could have done with a police presence to curtail a particularly aggressive individual smashing bottles two nights in a row in the same spot. Otherwise splendid.

Highly recommended! This German restaurant is tucked away in a quiet courtyard, away from the busy street behind, which was full of restaurants and smokers. Here we could sit outside in peace and really enjoy ourselves. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. A lovely place to enjoy a good meal in a calm atmosphere.

Nice location for the restaurant and the service was friendly. It took some time to get our food. The schnitzel was delicious, but my fish pasta lacked flavour. I'd recommend ordering their specialities.

I had the Mutzbraten (Pork shish-kebab with Marjoram), Sauerkraut, and Kartoffelbaumkuchen (layers of cooked mashed pototoes topped on one another like a cake). Very delicious!! Only negative which I told the waiter, was that I only got one Kartoffelbaumkuchen and not two. ;-) My son said it was the best Sauerbraten that he had ever had.
The allelei was served without the crayfish, so I f vegetables for 28 euros. When mentioned to the server, the restaurant only offered 10% discount for the dish. allelei was pretty bland as well but vegetables were fresh

Had a business lunch with "all you can eat" option for 12,9 euro per person. Quite good. Not perfect but I will check again later to create a full picture. Drinks are not included in "all you can eat".
There is a choice between chicken, pork, fish (baked in egg). They have rice, Pommes, vegetables (also with cheese). Four salads to choose from. Two kinds of soups. Bread. Different sauses.

A pleasant restaurant located on a narrow street between similar places. The staff were very nice and friendly, although there was a slight misunderstanding because we didn't speak German and the staff didn't speak English. We chose dishes from the seasonal menu featuring chanterelle mushrooms. The quality and presentation of the dishes deserve high praise. The price is average, roughly in line with the class of the establishment.

The first thing I noticed when walking in was the background music, which was mostly inaudible, apart from the bass line. Some people like this, so not a complaint, rather an observation.
We ordered two burgers, and drinks. My coke was flat, so I asked for a replacement. The replacement was also flat. I guess it came from the same bottle.
The burgers arrived and were cold. I ordered a smashed burger, but what arrived was a limp slop of minced beef, and it was cold. The other burger was a regular cheeseburger, and that too was only lukewarm.
Unfortunately we cut our visit short then and there, paid €16 for two drinks which we left and went somewhere else.

Went there with a couple of colleagues and we were amazed by this place. There is a musician who plays the piano, which give a very cozy atmosphere. Every couple minutes there is this little devil jumping out off the ceiling, which always came as quite a surprise. The cocktails were fantastic and the prices awesome. I was at Brauhaus Napoleon with my family. We entered the restaurant at 7:00 PM and received our dishes at 8:20 PM.
The waitstaff were very tense, serious, and stressed that night, but this doesn’t justify the rude reply I received when I kindly asked about our dishes (around 8:00 PM).
We didn’t receive any apology, nor any acknowledgment of the delay. There was no offer of a discount either. Bad customer service. We won’t be going there again.

The food and drinks were good.

Cozy restaurant in the middle of some small Schrebergärten with a big outside space for children and dining in the summer. The beer specialty "Gose" is not for everyone but I enjoy it a lot. Wide variety of Schnitzel and roasts. Even though there were many football fans as it is close to the stadium we managed to get a place and had a great experience. Been here many times and enjoyed it every time. Great ambience with the feeling of an old mill or something like that. Very cozy!

I had the schnitzel, potato salad and split an order of fries with my girlfriend and everything tasted great. I liked that the bike parking is inside the gated area which means that you do not have to worry as much about your bike (of course I would still lock it up).

Very large and often very busy beer hall, popular with students. We were thrown that smoking is accommodated here, so be warned. Service terribly slow, good range of drinks but just one guy serving behind the bar on a Friday night and some patrons are prone to pushing in.
The place is really nice. Unfortunately, however, we have to breathe cigarette smoke every time and our hair smells like smoke afterwards. As a non-smoker, I don't spend any more time there.
From my view, it would be much appreciated if they implement a rule that smoking is only allowed outside.
The attention of the man at the checkout and the woman is horrible. They made my order wrong. I asked them to correct my order and they did not want to do it, a typical German response. It's the worst cheeseburger I've ever eaten, full of fat. Best of all, I will not return to this place. There are other great places in Leipzig to go instead of this.

It IS a bar where you can and are allowed to smoke, so seeing it, entering it and then complaining about it, sorry but that is silly. If smoking is a problem, then don't enter smoking bars.
If it is full, service will, which is normal, take a bit longer.

Ate here last weekend a Burger, it's not like a 5Star Michelin meal, but good. Price of Burger was also less than in other bars on the Karli where the Burgers are not as good.
I can not follow Miss Ackermann's comments. Because at the time her review was written, it was closed due to corona, there was and is also no Indian owner at that time. Let alone you'd be able to see an owner if the bar is closed. The vegetarian restaurant she mentions was more than 10 years ago. In fact, I even believe that its longer and there used to be another bar in between that and Barfly. So to me that review seems odd.
Food is alright, above average. Decent drinks. Unfortunately smoking is allowed indoors so one can bearly breathe inside during the winter. But has always a lively atmosphere.

We were on a companytrip and had an amazing time here during the first night in Leipzig. Cocktails were good, music was very good. We left with a 250€ bill, and we decided to go back there with more people than sunday on our last night. It clearly depends on who’s serving that night, because one of the two guys wasnt happy at all when we came in. Really did everything in its way to make it clear we were not welcome. When we decided to go for another round of cocktails - the bartender must have misheard what we said because he thought we asked to pay for 7 cocktails (even though we had 9, so i don’t know why he only accounted us for 7) but we really asked for 7 more. He refused to serve us so we had a bit of a discussion at the bar, and we decided to leave it before it got to heated. We -obviously- payed for the 2 cocktails we still had to pay for and left. We won’t come back here again - that bartender cost you a lot turnover that night because we were there with 10 people and a company expense card. Might have been your best tuesday night yet.

We were eager to try the cocktails at this place. As we descended the steps down to the underground local, we noticed a heavy, dense and unconfortable atmosphere. We were led to a table and quickly discovered the reason: several customers were heavlily smoking. I find this a no-go for a place which, appparently, takes pride in the taste of their creations.
The cocktails were excellent. People are allowed to smoke inside, so beware of the smoke if you have breathing issues.
They speak English and the drinks are very good, quiet place, music is a bit loud so you can't talk.

Great place for a group bar trip. It is very snug and loud so no personal dates if you want to have leg space and calm vibes. The futbol game is on if there are sports to watch. You can smoke inside the location so thats cool, but you will absolutely smell like a tobacco fire after you leave.
