After a stroll through town, we decided to stop for a quick indulgence — and this café, with its tempting pastry display, drew us in. We ordered a slice of the house specialty and one of the nougat cake, accompanied by a cup of tea and a coffee. The house cake was excellent — well-balanced, creamy, with a subtle sweetness that didn’t try too hard. The nougat cake tasted just fine, but it arrived broken into two pieces, and this was simply ignored when served. At these prices, one would expect more care and attention to detail — especially when it comes to presentation. The drinks were decent — nothing remarkable, but they did their job. What left more of an impression, though, was the service. While one or two staff members were pleasant enough, most of them moved and spoke with the kind of energy that made you feel like placing a second order was an inconvenience. There was a noticeable lack of warmth. The interior leans into a French-inspired aesthetic, which could be charming — but the space felt a bit cramped and overfilled. With some thoughtful adjustments, it could become far more inviting. That said, if you’re here strictly for the cake, you’ll be just fine. But if you’re expecting a memorable café experience from start to finish, you may leave wishing for a bit more hospitality and a little less attitude.

The café itself is undeniably beautiful, with a charming atmosphere and an impressive display of cakes. At first glance, it looks like the perfect spot. Unfortunately, the reality does not match the appearance. The cakes, although visually appealing, were extremely dry, dense, and not moist at all, far from the quality one would expect. The bruschetta was also very disappointing: just a slice of bread with chopped tomatoes on top, not even toasted. The service was, unfortunately, one of the worst parts of the visit. If you are not from here, do not trust the positive reviews. The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. When they did not understand what we wanted, they sighed loudly and made us show photos of the cakes instead of simply allowing us to point to them in the display. When we tried to describe the cake, the staff refused, saying they only accept orders by the exact name. Even then, when they didn’t understand the name, they eventually allowed us to point, but only after much insistence. To add to this, when ordering bruschetta, the staff corrected our pronunciation. This was ironic since we are descendants of Italians and know the correct pronunciation, which makes us wonder how other guests might be treated if they happen to pronounce something differently. It is also important to note that the café was almost empty at the time of our visit, with only three other tables occupied besides ours. We were there before 9 a.m., so the poor service cannot be explained by the place being busy or overwhelmed. And even if the café had been full, that would not excuse the lack of courtesy and professionalism we experienced. Overall, while the setting of Kaffeehaus Riquet is beautiful, the food is of very poor quality and the service is unwelcoming at best. A disappointing experience that we would not recommend.

Brilliant service! We walked right upstairs and were greeted by a waitress who invited us to have a seat anywhere we’d like. We had a Kaffee Riquet, an Elefantenkaffee, a Leipziger lerche, a Bach Torte, and a Wiener Torte. To be honest, we found the drinks and cakes underwhelming. The only thing that we could say we loved was the Leipziger Lerche. The two kinds of coffee were “interesting” to taste, but do not expect them to taste like modern day coffee. Anyway, we went there, well aware of the value of Cafe Riquet as a place of history. It didn’t surprise us that the food didn’t meet our expectation. We went there mainly to experience the taste and the ambiance of the past.

The restaurant was full and some seating was available upstairs. The tables are very small and the restaurant is not very spacious. As you can see the food we ordered didn't fit on the table we had to resort to leaving other plates we hadn't finished and then eating what was brought out. Service was very slow but expected as it's busy. I'd recommend reserving as some tables were in undesirable places like in front of the door or in hallways. Really nice selection of teas and drinks too.

Very cute and dreamy cafè that makes you desperate to have that one-night to spend with the love of your life romance, the French vibes mixed with the rich history — that they are not afraid to share — is a perfect mix with their heavenly vienna chocolate and their rich cakes. The food and drinks are worth their money and are fair for not only the delectables but also for the nice staff and interesting people you might get the chance of meeting there. The €20-30 price p.p. was for a full breakfast with food and drinks.

I was sat immediately at a table by a window today, with my dog. Busy staff but professional and attentive. The “maracuja” cake looked good but barely tasted of passion fruit. I paid 10 Euros for fresh mint tea and cake which I found reasonable. I didn’t stay long though as it was busy.

Best French toast I have ever had. The coffee wasn't good and the service was also quite bad. However the place is worth visiting if you wanna see nice deco and have a very nice French toast.

Very nice spot, nice beers and we had the quiche which was very delicious. Sadly the service wasn't what you would expect. One of the waiters was wearing his AirPods. Over all they were still nice but we had to wait a long time for some orders. Overall still a good place.

Has a great breakfast here, waiting time somewhat exceed the normal, but it was all very tasty and of quality. Waitress was friendly, though somewhat lacking in information when asked to explain several stuff on the menu. They have a shop too, worth a visit. Price is pretty high, but all in all we were not disappointed

Just stopped in for a coffee because the outdoor seating was so inviting and made for good people. Watching. The dishes being served around me looked very good, especially the smoked salmon and egg open face sandwich. I will definitely be back to try the food.

I’ve grabbed my coffee a few times from there, but the last time, the lady who works there (at the ice cream bar) approached me and said, “We don’t have water, so you can’t place your usual order!” It was 9am, and I thought, okay, no problem. I grabbed my coffee from a different place, but on my way back a few minutes later, I found a bunch of people drinking their coffee both outside and inside the café 😅! I believe I know the reason behind the incident since I’m not a local!! Very disappointing and absolutely disgusting behaviour 🤮

Absolutely gorgeous no frills breakfast options with nice coffee, served in a beautifully decorated cafe. There’s plenty of indoor seating with comfy cushions and lots of outdoor seating in the front and rear of the location. This spot is located on a quiet street that will allow you to enjoy a quick bite and drink or a long brunch session with your friends.

We went for a brunch at 10am and the place was packed. Would suggest making a prior reservation. Breads and croissants were served hot and we really like them. Everything was fresh. Cappuccino was good but the highlight was Kakao with cream. Vegetarian breakfast was nice and so was the Süß klein breakfast. Even with the packed tables, the place didn’t feel chaotic or loud. We will visit again!

Very simply decorated- alternative/hipster cafe. The menu (only in German language) offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. We came on a weekend and they had the breakfast buffet [from 10am to 2pm], so we decided to try it. The place was almost full and the atmosphere was warm. The stuff was friendly. The food at the buffet was simple but fresh, we especially liked the tomato-mozzarella salad and the hummus. However, all salads (hummus, olive salad, tomato sauce, seitan) were [TOO] salty. Overall a good place to eat breakfast in a calm atmosphere, thought the buffet price, which is 8,90€ (drinks not included) is a bit over priced. The photos of the place were taken when everyone left after the buffet hour was over.

They serve breakfast in the mornings, lunch from 12, then in the afternoon burgers and snacks and finally in the evening it turns into a bar. You can get beers, cocktails and a wide variety of wines. The interior is very basic. Also quite inexpensive. Child friendly. Visited by the locals, I had the impression.

The weekend buffet brunch is very nice. I wish they had only vegan/vegetarian food and not some meat and dairy dishes. The staff is very nice, and the service is good. Unfortunately (and surprisingly) they don't have English menus.

Quick stop before our departure from Leipzig to buy the famous local sweets. The "Lerchen" pastries were fresh and delicious as well as the "Bachtaler" sweets. We also had some cake which wasn't something special. The prices were ok but service was a bit lazy though.

The location alone feels like a cheat code. It’s right in the heart of Leipzig, directly in front of St. Thomas Church. On a sunny day, you can enjoy a leisurely coffee outside while soaking up the atmosphere. The staff can be a little on the slower side, but if you have time to spare, it doesn’t really matter. A classic, historic café with timeless charm that makes it well worth a visit!

Great cafe to stop by when you are visiting the Thomaskirche. They sell a variety of Saxony speciality desserts and drinks, like the Eierschecke and Leipziger Allasch. I wouldn’t look for exceptional taste, but more a cultural experience and the good location.

Great location by St Thomas church. The cakes here are spectacular! Both my companion and I were very happy with our order. Would definitely come back if ever again in Leipzig. Highly recommended!

The Bach cake with mocha flavor was very good. Great flavor combination with the hazelnut and coffee chocolate cream. It was quite busy, we didn’t have to wait long to sit. But there were not enough people serving, so we had to wait longer on the cake and to pay. It is a busy and nice place to eat good cakes tho!

I was very happy that I could visit and try the coffee here with my classmates before leaving Leipzig. This is the best coffee shop in Germany I think with lots of history and nice vibe. Cannot recommend enough!!!

Great food, don’t pay attention that it’s a tourist place, you can actually eat delicious food here, at least while their current chef is at place. My respect to that particular person— the chef - all the dishes were fresh and exquisite. Once more, I never expected that, but please keep it as long as possible!

Amazing historic cafe to visit if you're ever in Leipzig. Great coffee choices and traditional German food. The waiters were very courteous and even let me practice my (rather bad) German. Highly recommend

A quaint place, beautifully renovated inside (including a museum and showrooms, with coffee tables set as in the good old days). There is in- and outdoor seating. Service can get overwhelmed by many customers – the area is as busy and touristy as it will get in Leipzig. Hence not exactly quiet, and lots of commotion outside. It's worth a visit for the historic flair, notably within. The prices are commensurate with the location. A decent place in terms of coffee and cake.

A very poor experience when we visited one evening whilst in Leipzig, resulting is us quickly leaving. When entering there was no welcome or attempt by the young staff members to engage with ourselves or any of the other customers. We found a table and menus however could not order as the staff were too busy watching videos on their phones behind the counter. A massive shame and disappointing experience.

The Marktplatz in Leipzig always has something going on. While I visited this year, the Weinfest was happening. Also, from this central place you'll have a great point from which to decide to go to any place in Leipzig.

One of the best in Leipzig. You can do enjoying yourself with nice surrounding you. I spent like 1 hours here. The weather also nice during summer.

Great bars and eateries. Lovely buildings. Great beer. Could have done with a police presence to curtail a particularly aggressive individual smashing bottles two nights in a row in the same spot. Otherwise splendid.

I had the opportunity of visiting the Markt area during Weihnachtsmarkt and you can't get any better than this. The area is bustling with people, several food shops (of course you can try the traditional Glühwein), and much more.

Leipzig is beautiful! I was there at the end of May 2024. Live music on Marktplatz, food, beer. Awesome time.

We stopped late in the evening for an ice cream and beer. The waiter remarked that he could hear we were English from the other side of the restaurant, which was rude and uncalled for. He also seemed annoyed that we ordered tap water along with a beer and large ice cream. The ice cream was large and good fun with fererro rocher, pocky sticks and shot in edible cup all in 3 big scoops of ice cream and cream. We shared it and it was too much for us to finish, but tasty. Another night we can for a take away ice cream and it was cash only, so make sure you have some euros.

I went with my two children today and was amazed at how much the place had changed since I've last been here. It's an institution in Leipzig and holds a special childhood memory for me that I was excited to share with my kids. We found a table in the busy (and a little crowded as the table are too close together) outside area and enjoyed Quarkkäulchen with apple sauce and fruit garnish, a famous local warm desert you have to try when visiting Leipzig, a Haribo bear ice-cream plate for the three-year-old who couldn't finish it (I helped) and a Ferrero Rocher ice-cream bowl for my ten-year-old - super tasty and meals in themselves. We topped it off with mango juice, Fassbrause (a local raspberry lemonade you should also try for the Leipzig taste) and a cappuccino (nice small size but not sure why it didn't have chocolate on top). Wasps forced us inside and the staff were very accommodating and child-friendly. Overall, a lovely visit with just some extra wait times as it was packed and drinks on the pricier end of the spectrum. I guess you pay for the prime location. I will definitely visit again and would recommend.

I really enjoyed eating at this place. The food was delicious, so was their Mango-Strawberry Lemonade as well as the Milchshake I had for dessert. They offer inside and outside seating and their service works well. The staff was very friendly. I can definitely recommend this place. If you're vegetarian or vegan there are quite some options to choose from.

We were there about 20mins before they closed on a Thursday evening, so I guess everybody working there just wanted to get home. The service was okay though, nothing special. The ice-cream itself was not great, it lacked flavour. I had the 'Hanuta cup' with two mini Hanutas, hazel- and walnuts and Amaretti biscuits (which were the saving grace of it all). Not what I was expecting 😔

This time I visited Café Luise for breakfast and the truth is that the Omelette with different vegetables was a good choice, plus it came with a small portion of salad 😊 It was exquisite so I recommend it!

ordered the sweet potato and brussel sprouts stir fry and it was vile. the sweet potato was raw and the brussel sprouts were clearly boiled not fried and tasted like fart. the portion was also quite small but i still couldn’t finish it. it also cost €15 for that

The food and drinks were really good, I loved having breakfast here! They have a variety of food and drinks to offer. The location is beautiful, you can sit inside as well as outside and there's a lot of space. Also, the staff members were really friendly.

best chicken burger in town We come to Luise on a regular basis and I must say it has the best chicken burger in town. All the food is good but portions can be a bit small. If you are really hungry get the fat-man-burger. It’s big. Also the basil-smash-cocktail is to die for.

If you would like to have a good Wiener Schnitzel, they cook an ok one. Nevertheless, the service and atmophere are really bad. I arrived in a time when the service was slow, and we sat in a tiny table for 1.5 h even when there were several tables empty. I rried to ask for a couple of times but was told the tables were reserved. No one showed up for them even after 1.5h of service. If you like to be well treated when you eat, do not go there. We could barely cut our food with the table they gave us, even with lots of space in tables that were empty for 1.5h.

The cakes were nice and the coffee was okay. The service was very friendly. What I did not like was that the toilet doesn’t have a changing table, my baby needed to co Angie the diaper and was not possible. I was expecting one because is a big place that family can have a nice meal together.

It's a special place with an old behavior: one knows how special it is a bit too much. So it's a hint over the top. You feel strange and at home at the same time. Because you can't stay in the past but you can visit it and have a great food and coffee. If there is Vienna Cafe culture in Leipzig – here it is.

Good quality breakky. Place is quite busy and the atmosphere was nice. Problem was they didn't take our cards, which are international standards, even though they said we could pay by card when we first came in.

If you don't like speciality coffee but rather standard German coffee this is your place (see picture: burned, ash-like taste and coarse foam). Breakfast is overpriced for the quality offered, luckily there are better alternatives for _Feinschmeckern_ in the city :)

Food was great, the wine pairing was not so good for our taste but this is always subjective, but the service was mediocre.Plates were taken or brought, without a word, half of the ingredients of each plate were not presented, waiting times even for ordering were not Michelin star appropriate. Environment and cutlery were not corresponding to the price. Vegetarian menu should not have the same price as the standard one, as the price of the ingredients is not comparable. Compared to other Michelin restaurants we have visited during our stay in Leipzig it was a disappointment.

So once in a while you have a Wow! experience in a restaurant. This was such an experience. Fantastic, exciting flavors in every single dish. Afterwards we were allowed to visit the kitchen and met the Chef. Kitchen spotlessly clean, staff wearing clean aprons, Chef welcoming and proud on his food. This is what fine dining is supposed to be!

The cafe is very centralised in market place. I read they have bad management or service but I had great service. The lady weals super friendly, as per my request, she did altered some items breakfast. Not a coffee drinker or fan so no idea how good a coffee must be. I just had some warm coffee to get awake. Prices are quite high. Altogether quite good place to have relaxed breakfast on weekend.

Excellent cafe. Good spot. Good and huge hot choclate. Big breakfast portions for decent prices. I got scrambled eggs with feta cheese and bread + hot choclate with cream for under 15€. Perfect service! Very friendly and attentive.

Nice staff… good quantity and quality…it was really a large portion of ice-cream and very filling too, had the rafello Becher and a piece of cake. Has a sitting area outside and also inside. Just in the middle of the city. Definitely recommend.

The best Chocolate drink (Coco) that i have ever tasted my all life. They have two type of Coco, please choose the dark one, it is crazy. I was there during the Christmas markets, so i hope they are still making this Coco all year and not only on Christmas

Very nice service and delicious breakfast buffet. The breakfast is provided until 12 on a Sunday. If you come late they even extend the time a bit and warn you in advance. As it's only 9 min away from the main station it's also a good option between hotel checkout and departure. Space for luggage is available.

A fantastic place to stay, enjoy some time with your loved ones, choose between whole grain products, delicious cakes, a wide range of self-made handcrafted sweets and many more to pamper yourself, a super nice staff team is waiting and working hard to make you happy, I love this place, at every time when I'm here we have a great time. We dined At Le Grand on our first night in Leipzig and were delighted with the food, the service, the wine list and the elegant decor. The cuisine is French inspired International cuisine which combines beautiful, fresh locally sourced ingredients. The quail broth was amazing!

We stopped by for a cup of hot chocolate just before closing time and really enjoyed ourselves. My husband used to get hot chocolate in Italy years ago that was like this--super thick, not overly sweet, very delicious, and perfect with a croissant on the side. He was so thrilled to find it again in Leipzig! The owner was so kind and personable. Wonderful service and great food. We'd love to come back when we're in the area.

The coffee and panini were delicious. Very good quality ingredients and fair price. But: we came on Saturday at around 10:30 am and it was closed, although according to the opening hours in Google and Instagram it should be open. Walking past the café half an hour later on accident we noticed the owner opening the cafe and finally went in. I was a bit dissatisfied at first to discover the cafe was closed. The opening hours were not correct and no information outside the cafe. But the owner was friendly, served us quickly and gave useful recommendations about Italian products.

I was looking for a coffee place that didn’t serve from a machine and I knew the Italians would never make anything from a bad press-and-go type machine. Great place. Bring cash. God bless the Italians

I’m a big fan of Italian food and culture. For real I wanted to enjoy real Italian stuffs in my ordinary days and finally I got it :) there is lots of variety for real Italian panini but don’t need to have a trouble to choose one, bc the owner of this cafe, he can recommend and find the perfect one for every each guest. So nice, friendly and very Italian way :)) what I had in my first visiting there- panino with prosciutto crudo e mozzarella, aperol Spritz and espresso- were amazing nice. Definitely gonna have another panini and coffee here soon. It was like exactly feeling in one of Café in Italia.

Just got my portion of sweet in the afternoon and was disappointed 😞. The cinnamon roll "Franzbrötchen" was dry and burnt. They tried to cover it up in a ton of sugar and cinnamon, did not work. And the piece of caramel cheesecake was... Nothing. Maybe a good cake under the cheap caramel sauce but who knows. Man cheesecakes are not that hard, but this was not salty, not crunchy, or very cheesy... Try again please. I am so sorry guys your espresso is so great and delicious but the sweets are not up for the task.

I really liked the design of this café because it’s set in an old house. However, I didn’t like the rusty tables. While they might look authentic, it’s unpleasant to think that you could get cut on them. It also seems unlikely that they can be properly cleaned. I visited on a Sunday morning and had to wait for a table a bit. The coffee was decent, but there are places where it’s made better. The shakshuka was good. It’s a nice place, but with some drawbacks, so I’m giving it 4 stars.

A café with a warm and inviting interior mood, carrying a touch of antique charm while maintaining a unique atmosphere. I visited quite late in the day, so I couldn’t try their brunch menu and settled for just coffee. It had a balanced strength and flavor, exactly the way I like it. I only wish I’d had more time to linger and savor it at a slower pace..

One of my favourite cafes in Leipzig. The coffee was creamy and well made. The pancakes were amazing, very fluffy, the serving quite big and the shakshuka didn’t disappoint either! The ambience was cosy with a unique vintage design since it’s located in a former butcher shop. The staff was very friendly. All in all a great experience. Highly recommend!

The food is just divine and made with so much love and eye to detail. Eggs Benedict are my favourite. The coffee is pure art and has a chocolate flavour to it. The interior is old made new and has so much flair, you should go especially to have a look at that, too.

Lovely hype Cafe in Leipzig. The place used to be a butcher ! Beautiful old tiles on the wall giving you the hint of the original place. Great atmosphere with candles and not a bright light in the room. Food was very tasty. Great banana bread with yoghurts and nuts and later on we had a Tom yum soup - just perfect. Very friendly service and very helpful A must to go place in Leipzig! 👍

Best breakfast during this German trip. We got the breakfast feast for 2 and additionally the eggs in a cup with chives and hollandaise sauce. Like a Paleo eggs Benedict. Fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juices and delicious coffee and latte macchiato. All the food was held to a high standard of taste and presentation. The decor is classy but comfortable with velvet couches. They have delicious looking cakes and tarts which we will try next time. Highly recommended!!

It is an amazing place. Everything was so delicious and fresh. The first coffee I drank at a sufficient temperature in my life was here. Try Stracciatella. You won't regret it. The guy who works there was perfectly polite and helpful.

This place was a lucky find as I didn't even think to look for a cupcake place in Leipzig. I am so happy that I found this place though because it's one of my favourite places in Leipzig! The cupcakes are all delicious, the space is cozy, and the staff is all super friendly. It's like a VIP kind of service, specially being in Germany! I couldn't recommend more this place! Best ambiance and best service! The lady who serves us is the same person who bakes the yummy cupcakes! She is so accommodating and serves with genuine smiles (you do not get this often in Germany ;)). Definitely worth going to!!

We popped in for lunch and enjoyed our pasta and schnitzel. The food was freshly prepared, and the salad with the schnitzel was crisp. Service was good and the location excellent.

Will likely be coming back again, really liked our meal And Not too costly. We had been presented to our table immediately with no waiting around. Nice location very well located. You will find it at the starting point of a bar street. The cocktails were very well mixed and the finger food was good. From price I found it fair. The staff is very friendly.

Stay away from this cafeteria. I ordered double espresso and a cup of hot water. They charged me 4 euro for coffee and 4 EURO for Hot Water .... Nowhere in Leipzig charged me for Hot Water

One of my absolute favourite places in Leipzig. This place is a great mixture of cafe-restaurant-bar-disco with such modern vibe! Everybody can enjoy their day/evening there and the service is nice and friendly. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very very stylish and somehow fits everybody's taste. Everything is just perfect!

They have a lot of options for breakfast/lunch. I had muesli bowl with cafe. They have pizzas also. The staff was nice and spoke english. They have seating available outside. I didn't like the orange juice, it wasn't fresh. Also, the menu was in german, so prepared to translate stuff before ordering. Seating inside is beautiful.

The treatment of the big lady was terrible, she took the time to serve, the food was good but nothing special and when she was asked for the bill it was the same, she stayed sitting at another table talking with what I believe were her friends, She was rude and not at all attentive. I think she herself is the one who answers the other comments with the same class that she receives you... there are better places to go in Leipzig... if you can, avoid it... it's nothing more than a pretty decoration!

Mediocre at best. According to the waitress, just because I was born a woman, I cannot afford to pay. When she saw we were two couples, she immediately went to the other side of the table and said "so the man pay today" assuming that women are not capable. The food was average and reminds me of the university canteen food. The atmosphere is nice. However, I suggest it is best to stay away if you are not into sexist "jokes"

Awesome breakfast and brunch location with a variety of meals and drinks. Plan some time because it might need some time until you order or pay (much work, but sadly, not enough staff). But it is definitely worth it! Take a seat and enjoy the chill atmosphere.

Great place for specialty coffee drinks (flat white, espresso tonics, etc. ) and laid back atmosphere. The cafe is on a quiet side street but accessible by tram. Outside seating is available. Its the type of place that you could spend hours reading and writing at with the addition of good food and coffee.

One of the nicest cafes in Leipzig to hang out with delicious cakes and breakfast. However the quality of coffee making is unfortunately low, the beans are completely over roasted and there needs to be a professional barista.

Although only two breakfast options were available, both were very good. Book a table in advance, the place is quite bit, but it was almost full on Saturday morning.

One of Leipzigs best coffee locations, because of 1) the state of the art barista coffee, and 2) the location itself. It gives you the chance to just relax, chat, and have a good coffee + cake, as well as putting in a laptop session for work. Preferred at the window tables. As said: top notch barista work, well trained staff, and also plenty of coffee (and milk) options.

Nice little coffee place and roaster with an industrial warehouse interior feel and one of the best coffee’s you can find in Leipzig. Definitely check them out and try there coffee and have some food.

The sandwiches at this place are pretty awesome and the prices are very reasonable. Coffee is average like every other bakery. Service is awful: after being pressured by the looming cashier to order as quickly as possible, husband got yelled at for just pointing at a sandwich in the case and describing the location (in German) instead of saying the name. Some other customers asked for salt and pepper shakers and got told "Just go look for them!" How can you be so grumpy surrounded by wonderful freshly-baked bread all day? A mystery.

It's okay, but not more than that. The breakfast for 2 (24 euro) had more fruits than cheese or ham. The salami was was not even enough for one bread so that 2 people could try it. Also the bread was okay but going to a 'brot Schule' i expected more than okay.

Very unfriendly staff. They would always find a reason to complain (if children are playing in the corner that is intended for children, or if we sit on a table that in their mind is too big for us, or if we sit in the area that they are planning on cleaning [who vacumes at 4 pm when their shop closes at 6?]). They are unfriendly without a reason, too. At the counter, when I just come by to get bread, they seem to be unfriendly just because they feel like it. There is only one (!) person on the counter who is friendly; cudos to him for working in such a gloomy atmosphere and still having a smile for the customer. I’ve been there at least ten times and every time I swear I won’t go back, but I still do because it’s close to where I live and the bread is good, albeit overpriced.

I recently visited Hart & Herzlich Pâtisserie Unplugged, and it was an amazing experience! This charming café offers delicious pastries and macarons, with a fresh new menu every month. Even though the inside is quite small, the ambiance is cozy, and there’s a lovely outdoor seating area perfect for sipping hot coffee and enjoying their incredible pastries. Their signature pastry was absolutely delightful, leaving a lingering taste that I couldn’t get enough of. I also tried the one of the special of the month—pineapple pastry in April—and it was just as fantastic. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and I will definitely be back to try the new pastries every month. It was clear this café is in high demand—while I was enjoying my pastry, I saw several customers picking up takeaways. It’s no wonder this place is so popular! Highly recommend giving it a try if you're in the area. I’ll definitely be returning!

I've taken half a day off from my work to go and try out this patisserie and I don't regret it a tiny bit. Beside some delicious macarons, I had the dessert in the photo which had the most amazing aftertaste of lavender. My husband had a very tasty tartlet with plums. The coffee was good.the decoration was simple and tasteful. I wish the place was near where we live.

I don't like sweets. But i love to come here. Everything is amazinhly tasty and looks just wonderful. Never tried something like this even in France and Belgium. The guys, who are working there are super super friendly. I love this place.. On Saturday take a coffee, praline and read a newspaper there ☺️ Coffee is also good! Delightful small cafe. I can highly recommend to have a delicious cake and a coffee here. Everything is made from scratch and in house. In conclusion it’s a lovely traditional cafe with some of the best sweets I ever had (and it’s really affordable to).

A charming, atmospheric café well-known for its signature pastry – the Leipzig Lark (Leipziger Lerche). The pastry was tasty, very sweet, and freshly made. The coffee was nothing special – just standard from an automatic machine. If you're a foreign tourist, bear in mind that the staff doesn’t speak English (or at least pretends not to), but it's still easy enough to get by with gestures and a smile. Definitely worth a visit if you’re curious to try a local specialty or want to buy some as a small gift or souvenir.

Bottom line, for a café.. The most important thing I'd think would be first the coffee. Here they use a simple full automatic machine with weak coffee beans that end up with a flat coffee experience. The cakes however, are surprising and worth a try. * The "Windbeutel" is a fun thing to eat and in spite of it being mostly whipped cream, it was fluffy and light. * The mini Sacher Torte was nicely sweet and moist inside. Service is often very slow. This is relevant if you just want to grab something to take away. I live nearby and I pass by every day on my way to work and want to grab something to bring to the office. But I don't even bother entering if there are customers already waiting. They might be a bit understaffed (there is just one person selling, making coffee, serving), but also they don't seem to be flexible with how they prioritise customers and orders. The sweets are really good. I don't drink coffee, but I have had tea, which was just a normal teabag in a cup of hot water. It would be nice to have slightly nicer tea in a pot etc. But I usually just go there for the Mandelhörnchen.

A palace with a small garden in front. There is a restaurant inside and a small Café where you can get wine and coffee to go. I didn’t see that the facilities were open to the public.

Quite a nice complex, that's well kept, with a kafeteria on site, however it is missing a bigger garden. If you are not interested in a museum it's a 5 minute visit and photos.

Nice and small cafe, dogs are sadly not allowed inside but in summer the outdoor seating is very nice! The garden cafe opening times are 14-18 (wednesday-sat) and 12-18 (sundays)

Firstly I think that It’s tourist attraction, but if you don’t have plans to make a picnic or get married here, you can skip this place :D

Pros: - food quality. It was very good. And also how it is presented. - Location and place. The music is soft and pleasant. You can stay quietly there for a while - Free tap water. Cons: - Service: the young waiter did not make me feel comfortable. It made me feel I was disturbing him. Only at the very end he gave me a smile. - prices: I think 4 euros for a small cup of hot water with 3 lemon slices is definitely exaggerated. Same for the food: almost 17 euros for a single breakfast dish (see photo), despite good. They can cut 30% from their prices with no harm at all.

Went to this place because it is listed on the European coffee trip app. It was 3.30 in the afternoon and the poor barista was all by herself and there was a constant stream of customers. The flat white was very very average (see pic) and she over heated the milk.

A small cafe just outside of the main town. They make the most insane breakfast toasts. The price is about what you would expect to pay in many American cities but the toast is WAY better. Well worth it!!!

Coffee, especially flat white is good here. Food and cakes are rather average. Today I got banana bread, and after waiting and asking about it, they said they were warming it up. Okay. 10 min later the girl brings a cold piece of banana bread saying the other one was burnt. Wow. Finally, I don't understand how a coffee shop where you sell mostly drinks has no toilet. This is outrageous. Unfortunately, after 1 year this coffee shop cannot keep up... What a shame...

Cosy, comfortable place in Karli. Went there without a reservation and the server very helpfully accommodated us. We had a nice avocado, tomato omelette and a goat cheese, avocado sandwich. Very good quality of ingredients and taste, quick service and very reasonable prices.

I came there asking for a table, the waitress said all tables are reserved, I asked if I can order take away, she said it will take 30 minutes. I went inside and asked to make a takeaway order at the „bar“ the lady there simply said no. I went back to the waitress and asked for a takeaway order, she said „I told you 3 times no“. This place might have the best breakfast according to reviews but definitely the worst customer service. That was on 3 May 2025 at 12:00.

Beautiful cafe with some of the nicest staff this side of the Elster! The irish coffee tastes like home (if home had better coffee)! Perfect ratio of cream to coffee to whiskey in a comfortable glass and the chocolate on top if a lovely touch! Will 100% be calling back in again soon!

Traditional-style bakery with a good selection of breads, rolls and cakes. Quality was good without being amazing, service was efficient, and prices about average for Leipzig (expect to pay €0.60 for rolls and €1.70 for streusel or a slice of fruit-filled pastries).

We got a custom cake made from them for my friends son's birthday. The cake decoration was as per our expectations. The cake overall was good when compared to others but taste was not as per expectations. We had asked for Chocolate cake but it was not complete chocolate cake. The base was combination of chocolate and normal. The cake felt a bit dry as well. But for the price of 35 Euros, it was a good decent cake. Overall happy with the service.

Pretty basic, cost effective and decent hotel in Leipzig. Within walking/tram distance of the city centre. The direct surroundings are a bit less inspiring, but the hotel itself is okay and has a friendly staff and proper German breakfast buffet.

The place is alright and not too pricey, the hotel and rooms are obviously rather old. The rooms are rather small, the beds a bit worn and not really comfortable, somewhat natural given the age. Everything is cleanly. The WiFi does not comply with current security standards. The breakfast is quite ok for the price. The surrounding area has a lot of oriental food options, but little more.

Nice hotel, especially the focus on art and the paintings everywhere. The charm of the old house is also the main problem: you hear everything, it's like a whole division marching up the stairs if 2 guests arrive later at night. Room 205 was fairly quiet, your best shot should be the top floor. Great location, awesome breakfast. For a short stay, it is well-suited.

Visited the hotel in Leipzig. A nice place, to have a good evening. Didn't stayed over night, but so far I can say, it got a nice bar. Maybe aperfect place to have a date. All in all I had a delightful night there.

This is a review of the property as an art gallery. Focusing on Leipzig School works, and spread over the hallways of the five floors of the hotel, the Leipziger Hof gallery is quite enjoyable. It can be visited any day between 10a and 8p. Plan between 30 and 45 minutes. Particular highlights include a Mattheuer and a Tuebke.

The breakfast buffet is very simple, nothing special. Bathroom was dirty. The hotel has a bad location, surrounded by abandoned buildings.

Only issue. The prices and portions. 5 stars for service. Good if you want to give it a try. Not your regular place of choice for our taste.

Had the most overpriced breakfast ever: a combination of 3 different types of sausage (each comes with a mini-portion), 3 types of cheese (also, each type comes with 2 thin slices), 3 different chutneys (one of which was jam), butter, and a basket of bread. All this strange combination in a quite small portion is positioned as a big breakfast plate and costs 22 euro. Left hungry and disappointed :(

Despite saying we would like to sit indoors, we were arranged to sit outside. We waited over an hour for our food, during which time it began to pour with rain. At no point did anyone offer us the option to move indoors, nor did anyone check in on us. Because we were running late for a football match and still hadn’t been served, we had to request the food as takeaway. Eventually, we were given a non-waterproof paper bag in the middle of the rain, which broke shortly after, leaving the food soggy and inedible. We paid €36 and did not expect such poor service or to leave hungry and frustrated.

Extremely rude staff. I went only once a month ago. I was waiting in the queue for more than 10 minutes. The guy behind me got impatient and left. There was 1 employee working outside the bar and 3 employees working inside the bar, but one of them was being trained that's why everything was so slow. When I complained that I'm waiting long, they justified in a very rude way by saying that one was being trained.
