Kaffeehaus Riquet Café is a century-old art nouveau café in Leipzig, offering a unique Viennese tradition experience. The café's history dates back to 1745, with its architectural gem featuring oriental influences incorporated by architect Paul Lange in 1908. The restored art deco interior provides a cozy atmosphere to enjoy Leipzig's signature sweet, Leipziger Lerche.
What a really unexpected surprise! The café was beautifully furnished with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that made me feel instantly relaxed. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and so well presented. And the cake – it was truly outstanding, the perfect finish to the meal. A place I’d be more than happy to return to again.
Elyana K — Google review
After a stroll through town, we decided to stop for a quick indulgence — and this café, with its tempting pastry display, drew us in. We ordered a slice of the house specialty and one of the nougat cake, accompanied by a cup of tea and a coffee. The house cake was excellent — well-balanced, creamy, with a subtle sweetness that didn’t try too hard. The nougat cake tasted just fine, but it arrived broken into two pieces, and this was simply ignored when served. At these prices, one would expect more care and attention to detail — especially when it comes to presentation. The drinks were decent — nothing remarkable, but they did their job. What left more of an impression, though, was the service. While one or two staff members were pleasant enough, most of them moved and spoke with the kind of energy that made you feel like placing a second order was an inconvenience. There was a noticeable lack of warmth. The interior leans into a French-inspired aesthetic, which could be charming — but the space felt a bit cramped and overfilled. With some thoughtful adjustments, it could become far more inviting. That said, if you’re here strictly for the cake, you’ll be just fine. But if you’re expecting a memorable café experience from start to finish, you may leave wishing for a bit more hospitality and a little less attitude.
Sven O — Google review
The café itself is undeniably beautiful, with a charming atmosphere and an impressive display of cakes. At first glance, it looks like the perfect spot. Unfortunately, the reality does not match the appearance. The cakes, although visually appealing, were extremely dry, dense, and not moist at all, far from the quality one would expect. The bruschetta was also very disappointing: just a slice of bread with chopped tomatoes on top, not even toasted. The service was, unfortunately, one of the worst parts of the visit. If you are not from here, do not trust the positive reviews. The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. When they did not understand what we wanted, they sighed loudly and made us show photos of the cakes instead of simply allowing us to point to them in the display. When we tried to describe the cake, the staff refused, saying they only accept orders by the exact name. Even then, when they didn’t understand the name, they eventually allowed us to point, but only after much insistence. To add to this, when ordering bruschetta, the staff corrected our pronunciation. This was ironic since we are descendants of Italians and know the correct pronunciation, which makes us wonder how other guests might be treated if they happen to pronounce something differently. It is also important to note that the café was almost empty at the time of our visit, with only three other tables occupied besides ours. We were there before 9 a.m., so the poor service cannot be explained by the place being busy or overwhelmed. And even if the café had been full, that would not excuse the lack of courtesy and professionalism we experienced. Overall, while the setting of Kaffeehaus Riquet is beautiful, the food is of very poor quality and the service is unwelcoming at best. A disappointing experience that we would not recommend.
Patrícia — Google review
Brilliant service! We walked right upstairs and were greeted by a waitress who invited us to have a seat anywhere we’d like. We had a Kaffee Riquet, an Elefantenkaffee, a Leipziger lerche, a Bach Torte, and a Wiener Torte. To be honest, we found the drinks and cakes underwhelming. The only thing that we could say we loved was the Leipziger Lerche. The two kinds of coffee were “interesting” to taste, but do not expect them to taste like modern day coffee. Anyway, we went there, well aware of the value of Cafe Riquet as a place of history. It didn’t surprise us that the food didn’t meet our expectation. We went there mainly to experience the taste and the ambiance of the past.
Soonyata M — Google review
The restaurant was full and some seating was available upstairs. The tables are very small and the restaurant is not very spacious. As you can see the food we ordered didn't fit on the table we had to resort to leaving other plates we hadn't finished and then eating what was brought out. Service was very slow but expected as it's busy. I'd recommend reserving as some tables were in undesirable places like in front of the door or in hallways. Really nice selection of teas and drinks too.
Devina A — Google review
Very cute and dreamy cafè that makes you desperate to have that one-night to spend with the love of your life romance, the French vibes mixed with the rich history — that they are not afraid to share — is a perfect mix with their heavenly vienna chocolate and their rich cakes. The food and drinks are worth their money and are fair for not only the delectables but also for the nice staff and interesting people you might get the chance of meeting there. The €20-30 price p.p. was for a full breakfast with food and drinks.
Ethan E — Google review
I was sat immediately at a table by a window today, with my dog. Busy staff but professional and attentive. The “maracuja” cake looked good but barely tasted of passion fruit. I paid 10 Euros for fresh mint tea and cake which I found reasonable. I didn’t stay long though as it was busy.

Inside everything looks good but service personal isn't kind and very slow. Taste is good but not worth the wait.

Café Maître and Pâtisserie is a charming art nouveau café and patisserie that has been delighting guests for over a century with its French-inspired interior and cuisine. The breakfast menu offers a variety of French delicacies, from simple combinations like croissants with jam to more elaborate platters designed to be shared.
My partner and I went for breakfast to this place. We ordered a breakfast for two. We also ordered coffee for both of us. The breakfast was perfect for two or three person's. This breakfast was our breakfast and lunch. The staff is very friendly and they speak English. You can pay by card or cash. Of course, we will come back soon.

Came here without reservation, and since it was full, I dined outside (it was still cute as it was sunny anyway) but great food! Lovely service! That onion soup 😍😍😍 ugh! To die for!

Best French toast I have ever had. The coffee wasn't good and the service was also quite bad. However the place is worth visiting if you wanna see nice deco and have a very nice French toast.
Lina C — Google review
Very nice spot, nice beers and we had the quiche which was very delicious. Sadly the service wasn't what you would expect. One of the waiters was wearing his AirPods. Over all they were still nice but we had to wait a long time for some orders. Overall still a good place.
Boris B — Google review
Has a great breakfast here, waiting time somewhat exceed the normal, but it was all very tasty and of quality. Waitress was friendly, though somewhat lacking in information when asked to explain several stuff on the menu. They have a shop too, worth a visit. Price is pretty high, but all in all we were not disappointed

Very sweet waitresses that speak English, delicious food, drinks and desserts! There’s also a English menu option and it’s very warm inside, perfect for this autumn cold 🍂☕️
Andrea A — Google review
Just stopped in for a coffee because the outdoor seating was so inviting and made for good people. Watching. The dishes being served around me looked very good, especially the smoked salmon and egg open face sandwich. I will definitely be back to try the food.
Sam S — Google review
I’ve grabbed my coffee a few times from there, but the last time, the lady who works there (at the ice cream bar) approached me and said, “We don’t have water, so you can’t place your usual order!” It was 9am, and I thought, okay, no problem. I grabbed my coffee from a different place, but on my way back a few minutes later, I found a bunch of people drinking their coffee both outside and inside the café 😅! I believe I know the reason behind the incident since I’m not a local!! Very disappointing and absolutely disgusting behaviour 🤮

If you're wandering through the Lindenau neighborhood of Leipzig, make sure to stop by süß + salzig, a charming cafe that perfectly balances a relaxed atmosphere with an enticing menu. This delightful spot offers a variety of brunch options, from sweet pastries slathered in jam and chocolate spread to hearty muesli and yogurt. For those who prefer plant-based meals, there are plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices available, featuring delicious hummus, olive tapenade, and seitan.
The restaurant has a great selection of vegan, vegetarian and meaty breakfast and friendly staff The restaurant is quite busy on weekend mornings so it's worth it to reserve a table.

Absolutely gorgeous no frills breakfast options with nice coffee, served in a beautifully decorated cafe. There’s plenty of indoor seating with comfy cushions and lots of outdoor seating in the front and rear of the location. This spot is located on a quiet street that will allow you to enjoy a quick bite and drink or a long brunch session with your friends.
Rebecca — Google review
We went for a brunch at 10am and the place was packed. Would suggest making a prior reservation. Breads and croissants were served hot and we really like them. Everything was fresh. Cappuccino was good but the highlight was Kakao with cream. Vegetarian breakfast was nice and so was the Süß klein breakfast. Even with the packed tables, the place didn’t feel chaotic or loud. We will visit again!
Neha B — Google review
thank you for not disappointing us from the good ratings! good food and friendly staff yet reasonable price! of course we were sitting outside during corona time.. the atmosphere was still nice and welcoming. Totally recommend
MJ — Google review
Very simply decorated- alternative/hipster cafe. The menu (only in German language) offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. We came on a weekend and they had the breakfast buffet [from 10am to 2pm], so we decided to try it. The place was almost full and the atmosphere was warm. The stuff was friendly. The food at the buffet was simple but fresh, we especially liked the tomato-mozzarella salad and the hummus. However, all salads (hummus, olive salad, tomato sauce, seitan) were [TOO] salty. Overall a good place to eat breakfast in a calm atmosphere, thought the buffet price, which is 8,90€ (drinks not included) is a bit over priced. The photos of the place were taken when everyone left after the buffet hour was over.
Vlada M — Google review
They serve breakfast in the mornings, lunch from 12, then in the afternoon burgers and snacks and finally in the evening it turns into a bar. You can get beers, cocktails and a wide variety of wines. The interior is very basic. Also quite inexpensive. Child friendly. Visited by the locals, I had the impression.
Ludo R — Google review
The weekend buffet brunch is very nice. I wish they had only vegan/vegetarian food and not some meat and dairy dishes. The staff is very nice, and the service is good. Unfortunately (and surprisingly) they don't have English menus.

Cake wasn’t good at all. Pancakes was ok. Many people comes but i don’t think very nice cafe. We just choose here coz it was almost only cafe open at 10. (other Cafés near here open 11-14) but service was friendly.

Kandler is a traditional coffee house in Leipziger Zentrum with hubby cafes situated directly next to Thomas and Nikolaikirche. It offers fresh coffee and tasty sweets such as Leipzig specialties like a Leipzig swallow. Prices are high but the quality is reliable. The toilets (men) are clean. Café Kandler can be strongly recommended!
A great old cafe to try some local leipziger lerchen. Very wide range of teas and coffees. The staffs are very kind and helpful too. The breakfast was good and the bread and croissants were fresh. The omlet was good and is well done. Coffee could havd been better it lacked flavor. Lerchen was great and fresh. Overall a great place for drink and cakes and breakfast too.
Alireza J — Google review
Nice spot to sit and have coffee outside the St Thomas Church. The service was sometimes slow and we had to provide a reminder for our order. The food and coffee was still enjoyable.
Sean B — Google review
Quick stop before our departure from Leipzig to buy the famous local sweets. The "Lerchen" pastries were fresh and delicious as well as the "Bachtaler" sweets. We also had some cake which wasn't something special. The prices were ok but service was a bit lazy though.
Christiana P — Google review
The location alone feels like a cheat code. It’s right in the heart of Leipzig, directly in front of St. Thomas Church. On a sunny day, you can enjoy a leisurely coffee outside while soaking up the atmosphere. The staff can be a little on the slower side, but if you have time to spare, it doesn’t really matter. A classic, historic café with timeless charm that makes it well worth a visit!
Hyein J — Google review
The person who served my table was super nice. Unfortunately one of my räbschens was frozen inside. The other two was super leckerrrrr! :) tea was okay. Very sweet spot looking over to the church. :)
Ishana B — Google review
Great cafe to stop by when you are visiting the Thomaskirche. They sell a variety of Saxony speciality desserts and drinks, like the Eierschecke and Leipziger Allasch. I wouldn’t look for exceptional taste, but more a cultural experience and the good location.
M Y — Google review
Great location by St Thomas church. The cakes here are spectacular! Both my companion and I were very happy with our order. Would definitely come back if ever again in Leipzig. Highly recommended!
M.M M — Google review
The Bach cake with mocha flavor was very good. Great flavor combination with the hazelnut and coffee chocolate cream. It was quite busy, we didn’t have to wait long to sit. But there were not enough people serving, so we had to wait longer on the cake and to pay. It is a busy and nice place to eat good cakes tho!

Zum Arabischen Coffe Baum is a historic coffee house in Leipzig, Germany, known for its centuries-old tradition of serving afternoon coffee and cake. It has been a favorite spot for famous figures like Robert Schumann and proudly holds the title of the oldest surviving coffee-house and restaurant in Europe that has been continually operational since 1695.
Kafe Kreme was really good. Great atmosphere. Love the internal setting. Friendly and helpful staff with excellent English.

I was very happy that I could visit and try the coffee here with my classmates before leaving Leipzig. This is the best coffee shop in Germany I think with lots of history and nice vibe. Cannot recommend enough!!!
Trọng L — Google review
Great food, don’t pay attention that it’s a tourist place, you can actually eat delicious food here, at least while their current chef is at place. My respect to that particular person— the chef - all the dishes were fresh and exquisite. Once more, I never expected that, but please keep it as long as possible!
Maria S — Google review
Amazing historic cafe to visit if you're ever in Leipzig. Great coffee choices and traditional German food. The waiters were very courteous and even let me practice my (rather bad) German. Highly recommend
Kieran G — Google review
A quaint place, beautifully renovated inside (including a museum and showrooms, with coffee tables set as in the good old days). There is in- and outdoor seating. Service can get overwhelmed by many customers – the area is as busy and touristy as it will get in Leipzig. Hence not exactly quiet, and lots of commotion outside. It's worth a visit for the historic flair, notably within. The prices are commensurate with the location. A decent place in terms of coffee and cake.
S M — Google review
A very poor experience when we visited one evening whilst in Leipzig, resulting is us quickly leaving. When entering there was no welcome or attempt by the young staff members to engage with ourselves or any of the other customers. We found a table and menus however could not order as the staff were too busy watching videos on their phones behind the counter. A massive shame and disappointing experience.

Tasty ice cream, nicely decorated and a perfect mix of flavors!

We stopped late in the evening for an ice cream and beer. The waiter remarked that he could hear we were English from the other side of the restaurant, which was rude and uncalled for. He also seemed annoyed that we ordered tap water along with a beer and large ice cream. The ice cream was large and good fun with fererro rocher, pocky sticks and shot in edible cup all in 3 big scoops of ice cream and cream. We shared it and it was too much for us to finish, but tasty. Another night we can for a take away ice cream and it was cash only, so make sure you have some euros.
Laura D — Google review
I went with my two children today and was amazed at how much the place had changed since I've last been here. It's an institution in Leipzig and holds a special childhood memory for me that I was excited to share with my kids. We found a table in the busy (and a little crowded as the table are too close together) outside area and enjoyed Quarkkäulchen with apple sauce and fruit garnish, a famous local warm desert you have to try when visiting Leipzig, a Haribo bear ice-cream plate for the three-year-old who couldn't finish it (I helped) and a Ferrero Rocher ice-cream bowl for my ten-year-old - super tasty and meals in themselves. We topped it off with mango juice, Fassbrause (a local raspberry lemonade you should also try for the Leipzig taste) and a cappuccino (nice small size but not sure why it didn't have chocolate on top). Wasps forced us inside and the staff were very accommodating and child-friendly. Overall, a lovely visit with just some extra wait times as it was packed and drinks on the pricier end of the spectrum. I guess you pay for the prime location. I will definitely visit again and would recommend.

Service was great. Varieties of Ice-cream to pick from with waffles and fruits. Relatively large quantity for abt 6-10€.

I really enjoyed eating at this place. The food was delicious, so was their Mango-Strawberry Lemonade as well as the Milchshake I had for dessert. They offer inside and outside seating and their service works well. The staff was very friendly. I can definitely recommend this place. If you're vegetarian or vegan there are quite some options to choose from.
Natalie O — Google review
We were there about 20mins before they closed on a Thursday evening, so I guess everybody working there just wanted to get home. The service was okay though, nothing special. The ice-cream itself was not great, it lacked flavour. I had the 'Hanuta cup' with two mini Hanutas, hazel- and walnuts and Amaretti biscuits (which were the saving grace of it all). Not what I was expecting 😔

Café Luise is a relaxed spot with a spacious terrace and a bar, offering an array of salads, wraps, coffee, and cocktails. Located just a short walk from Leipzig's city center and major attractions, it's advisable to reserve a table for a leisurely weekend breakfast.
I had a nice brunch time in Luise on the weekend. The staff are very friendly and they also brought water for our dog!! So kind! I would definitely visit again! And there were already many people who were sitting outside on the weekend for brunch, so it’s better to book if you want to sit outside :)

Lovely place for a quick brunch in Leipzig as we were heading to the city centre, with great polite staff. I don’t understand why they charge for a glass of water, though. Very peculiar.

This time I visited Café Luise for breakfast and the truth is that the Omelette with different vegetables was a good choice, plus it came with a small portion of salad 😊 It was exquisite so I recommend it!

ordered the sweet potato and brussel sprouts stir fry and it was vile. the sweet potato was raw and the brussel sprouts were clearly boiled not fried and tasted like fart. the portion was also quite small but i still couldn’t finish it. it also cost €15 for that

The food and drinks were really good, I loved having breakfast here! They have a variety of food and drinks to offer. The location is beautiful, you can sit inside as well as outside and there's a lot of space. Also, the staff members were really friendly.

Tasty breakfast, bread is included (not visible in the photo). Coffee is good as well. Nice atmosphere, a bit noisy for my taste but it is a big place. We've waited rather long for the waitress at some point. I would go back here!

best chicken burger in town We come to Luise on a regular basis and I must say it has the best chicken burger in town. All the food is good but portions can be a bit small. If you are really hungry get the fat-man-burger. It’s big. Also the basil-smash-cocktail is to die for.

Café Grundmann, located in Leipzig's Sudvorstadt, is a historic Viennese café that has been meticulously preserved in Art Deco style. With over 100 years of history, this café offers a delightful selection of Viennese desserts such as apple strudel and an array of carefully crafted pastries. The café also serves dishes from the Saxon-Alpine cuisine and international specialties.
We stopped in Sunday morning for coffee and cake and have no regrets. Very friendly service, delicious coffee, tea and cakes at an affordable price. Very nice decor both in the coffee garden and inside. Large collection of posters on the staircase.

If you would like to have a good Wiener Schnitzel, they cook an ok one. Nevertheless, the service and atmophere are really bad. I arrived in a time when the service was slow, and we sat in a tiny table for 1.5 h even when there were several tables empty. I rried to ask for a couple of times but was told the tables were reserved. No one showed up for them even after 1.5h of service. If you like to be well treated when you eat, do not go there. We could barely cut our food with the table they gave us, even with lots of space in tables that were empty for 1.5h.

The cakes were nice and the coffee was okay. The service was very friendly. What I did not like was that the toilet doesn’t have a changing table, my baby needed to co Angie the diaper and was not possible. I was expecting one because is a big place that family can have a nice meal together.
Liz D — Google review
It's a special place with an old behavior: one knows how special it is a bit too much. So it's a hint over the top. You feel strange and at home at the same time. Because you can't stay in the past but you can visit it and have a great food and coffee. If there is Vienna Cafe culture in Leipzig – here it is.

Good quality breakky. Place is quite busy and the atmosphere was nice. Problem was they didn't take our cards, which are international standards, even though they said we could pay by card when we first came in.

If you don't like speciality coffee but rather standard German coffee this is your place (see picture: burned, ash-like taste and coarse foam). Breakfast is overpriced for the quality offered, luckily there are better alternatives for _Feinschmeckern_ in the city :)

The best cafe in Leipzig. The food and service are both excellent and amazing value for a reasonable price. Above all, the Art Deco interior is amazingly well preserved. Only wish I could be a regular here.

Stadtpfeiffer Restaurant im Gewandhaus is a top dining spot in Leipzig, located conveniently at the concert hall. The restaurant offers inventive multi-course menus with a thematic focus, prepared with utmost perfection by chef Detlef Schlegel and served by Petra Schlegel. Despite being awarded a Michelin star, the restaurant maintains an affordable yet sophisticated dining experience.
I randomly found this restaurant on google maps in canada with a friend (ive never been to Germany) but this restaurant looks really good. I’m going to be disappointed at you if u dont eat at this restaurant for me
Living G — Google review
Food was great, the wine pairing was not so good for our taste but this is always subjective, but the service was mediocre.Plates were taken or brought, without a word, half of the ingredients of each plate were not presented, waiting times even for ordering were not Michelin star appropriate. Environment and cutlery were not corresponding to the price. Vegetarian menu should not have the same price as the standard one, as the price of the ingredients is not comparable. Compared to other Michelin restaurants we have visited during our stay in Leipzig it was a disappointment.

So once in a while you have a Wow! experience in a restaurant. This was such an experience. Fantastic, exciting flavors in every single dish. Afterwards we were allowed to visit the kitchen and met the Chef. Kitchen spotlessly clean, staff wearing clean aprons, Chef welcoming and proud on his food. This is what fine dining is supposed to be!

(Translated by Google) While in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig right next door guests are presented with joyful odes for the ears, the team around Detlef Schlegel in the Stadtpfeiffer offers odes for the palate in both liquid and solid form. In addition to ingredients grown in the garden and mushrooms hand-collected from the alluvial forest, which are arranged into works of art on the plate, the excellent, very attentive and extremely competent service is also enchanting. "To each as he likes." is the motto of Schlegels and team. And if you then get a table with a view of the kitchen through the windows, the visual entertainment is finally served.

Stein Café is a bustling establishment with tables arranged in a square layout. It is renowned for its diverse selection of coffees and offers both a breakfast buffet and lunch options. The café also boasts an extensive menu of standard dishes. Among their offerings, one can find a wheat beer that is average in nature but nourishing and warming, known for promoting good blood circulation and serving as a remedy against kidney stones.
It's a chill atmosphere to hang out with friends in the evening. I only got a cup of Eisschokolade mit Sahne, but I enjoyed it and the ambiance was great too.

If I would recommend a place it would be here Super small shop , difficult to see but worth to catch We entered and the chef directly told us that we would wait long because it’s busy , he’s alone and do everything by himself , we took a chance and sit there . Let me tell you that it’s worth the wait , the quantity of the food and the quality is unbeatable , prices are absolutely fair and the ambiance was amazing. We took some charcuterie to go and it was delicious, our guest are pleased and we even got a small treat offered . He was so nice and friendly we really enjoyed and will definitely come back

We stopped by for a cup of hot chocolate just before closing time and really enjoyed ourselves. My husband used to get hot chocolate in Italy years ago that was like this--super thick, not overly sweet, very delicious, and perfect with a croissant on the side. He was so thrilled to find it again in Leipzig! The owner was so kind and personable. Wonderful service and great food. We'd love to come back when we're in the area.

The coffee and panini were delicious. Very good quality ingredients and fair price. But: we came on Saturday at around 10:30 am and it was closed, although according to the opening hours in Google and Instagram it should be open. Walking past the café half an hour later on accident we noticed the owner opening the cafe and finally went in. I was a bit dissatisfied at first to discover the cafe was closed. The opening hours were not correct and no information outside the cafe. But the owner was friendly, served us quickly and gave useful recommendations about Italian products.

So nice, friendly and very Italian way :)) what I had in my first visiting there- panino with prosciutto crudo e mozzarella, aperol Spritz and espresso- were amazing nice. Dankbar Kaffee is a stylish cafe located in an old butcher shop in the central-west part of Leipzig's city center. During the day, visitors can enjoy international breakfast options such as Shakshuka and sourdough bread with scrambled tofu. In the evenings, the focus shifts to fine wines and a weekly changing four-course menu featuring collaborations with local producers.
Café Dankbar on Jahnallee in Leipzig is a charming spot with a unique atmosphere, housed in a beautifully restored former butcher shop. The coffee is exceptional, and the menu shines with fresh, regional ingredients—especially the dishes featuring their hearty sourdough bread, which were a real treat. The Jugendstil ceiling adds a special historic flair, and the staff is warm and welcoming. It can get a bit hectic during peak hours, and prices are slightly steep, but the quality makes up for it. Perfect for a cozy coffee break or light bite—highly recommend!

1 year later: wow what a change. Coffee is fantastic and the food is seriously great. The service changed too. Love it here! Thank you folks Nice bar for a great coffee. Just got my portion of sweet in the afternoon and was disappointed 😞. The cinnamon roll "Franzbrötchen" was dry and burnt. They tried to cover it up in a ton of sugar and cinnamon, did not work. And the piece of caramel cheesecake was... Nothing. Maybe a good cake under the cheap caramel sauce but who knows. Man cheesecakes are not that hard, but this was not salty, not crunchy, or very cheesy... Try again please. I am so sorry guys your espresso is so great and delicious but the sweets are not up for the task.

I really liked the design of this café because it’s set in an old house. However, I didn’t like the rusty tables. While they might look authentic, it’s unpleasant to think that you could get cut on them. It also seems unlikely that they can be properly cleaned. I visited on a Sunday morning and had to wait for a table a bit. The coffee was decent, but there are places where it’s made better. The shakshuka was good. It’s a nice place, but with some drawbacks, so I’m giving it 4 stars.
AnsterStern — Google review
A café with a warm and inviting interior mood, carrying a touch of antique charm while maintaining a unique atmosphere. I visited quite late in the day, so I couldn’t try their brunch menu and settled for just coffee. It had a balanced strength and flavor, exactly the way I like it. I only wish I’d had more time to linger and savor it at a slower pace..

One of my favourite cafes in Leipzig. The coffee was creamy and well made. The pancakes were amazing, very fluffy, the serving quite big and the shakshuka didn’t disappoint either! Bachstüb'l is a historic building that dates back to at least 1650, although it is believed to be even older based on modern surveys. The perfect location! It is in the corner, so a lot more quieter than all the other restaurants that are cramped together. The music selection was great and the food was amazing. The drinks were very good, they did not get stingy with the alcohol. Best Gin and Tonic I have had in a long time. Our waitress was friendly and always had a smile on her face. Food was fusion and we had a huge selection to pick from. Definitely a place I would go to again when I get back to Leipzig. Stay away from this cafeteria. I ordered double espresso and a cup of hot water. They charged me 4 euro for coffee and 4 EURO for Hot Water .... Nowhere in Leipzig charged me for Hot Water

One of my absolute favourite places in Leipzig. This place is a great mixture of cafe-restaurant-bar-disco with such modern vibe! Everybody can enjoy their day/evening there and the service is nice and friendly. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very very stylish and somehow fits everybody's taste. Everything is just perfect!
Gergana B — Google review
They have a lot of options for breakfast/lunch. I had muesli bowl with cafe. They have pizzas also. The staff was nice and spoke english. They have seating available outside. I didn't like the orange juice, it wasn't fresh. Also, the menu was in german, so prepared to translate stuff before ordering. Seating inside is beautiful.
Manish S — Google review
The treatment of the big lady was terrible, she took the time to serve, the food was good but nothing special and when she was asked for the bill it was the same, she stayed sitting at another table talking with what I believe were her friends, She was rude and not at all attentive. I think she herself is the one who answers the other comments with the same class that she receives you... there are better places to go in Leipzig... if you can, avoid it... it's nothing more than a pretty decoration!

Great place to have breakfast, delicious food with a nice service🤗
Meruyert B — Google review
Mediocre at best. According to the waitress, just because I was born a woman, I cannot afford to pay. When she saw we were two couples, she immediately went to the other side of the table and said "so the man pay today" assuming that women are not capable. The food was average and reminds me of the university canteen food. The atmosphere is nice. However, I suggest it is best to stay away if you are not into sexist "jokes"

Awesome breakfast and brunch location with a variety of meals and drinks. Plan some time because it might need some time until you order or pay (much work, but sadly, not enough staff). But it is definitely worth it! Take a seat and enjoy the chill atmosphere.

Great place for specialty coffee drinks (flat white, espresso tonics, etc. ) and laid back atmosphere. The cafe is on a quiet side street but accessible by tram. Outside seating is available. Its the type of place that you could spend hours reading and writing at with the addition of good food and coffee.

Franz Morish Coffee Roastery is a bustling cafe tucked away near Johannisplatz, founded by former professional footballer Tom Geissler. The name "Morish" promises a delightful experience for coffee lovers, derived from the English adjective "moreish," meaning tasty and satisfying. Geissler, who trained as a coffee sommelier in Vienna, established the roastery in 2015 to offer various coffees and roasts in a modern atmosphere.
I had breakfast here with my friend. We ordered an omelet and mozzarella tomato salad. The food was delicious. I would really recommend this place if you want to have a good breakfast in Leipzig. One of Leipzigs best coffee locations, because of 1) the state of the art barista coffee, and 2) the location itself. It gives you the chance to just relax, chat, and have a good coffee + cake, as well as putting in a laptop session for work. Preferred at the window tables. As said: top notch barista work, well trained staff, and also plenty of coffee (and milk) options.

Die erste Leipziger Brotschule Bäckerei Lampe is a delightful spot located just outside the bustling city center, making it an ideal stop for both locals and visitors. This charming bakery offers an impressive selection of mega sandwiches perfect for take-away, alongside freshly baked bread and buns that are simply irresistible. Guests can choose to dine in and enjoy a sit-down breakfast from their diverse menu or select tempting items from the glass cabinets filled with baked goods.
Beautiful vibe, delicious pastries and good coffee. No complaints here. Definitely worth checking out!
Laura J — Google review
The sandwiches at this place are pretty awesome and the prices are very reasonable. Coffee is average like every other bakery. Service is awful: after being pressured by the looming cashier to order as quickly as possible, husband got yelled at for just pointing at a sandwich in the case and describing the location (in German) instead of saying the name. Some other customers asked for salt and pepper shakers and got told "Just go look for them!" How can you be so grumpy surrounded by wonderful freshly-baked bread all day? A mystery.
S N — Google review
Wonderful place and a very patient, friendly (but seemingly overworked) staff!

It's okay, but not more than that. The breakfast for 2 (24 euro) had more fruits than cheese or ham. The salami was was not even enough for one bread so that 2 people could try it. Also the bread was okay but going to a 'brot Schule' i expected more than okay.

We love it here. Amazing bread and such lovely options for a sit-in breakfast. The best is the staff though, they are absolute perfection.
Mimi A — Google review
Very unfriendly staff. They would always find a reason to complain (if children are playing in the corner that is intended for children, or if we sit on a table that in their mind is too big for us, or if we sit in the area that they are planning on cleaning [who vacumes at 4 pm when their shop closes at 6?]). They are unfriendly without a reason, too. At the counter, when I just come by to get bread, they seem to be unfriendly just because they feel like it. There is only one (!) person on the counter who is friendly; cudos to him for working in such a gloomy atmosphere and still having a smile for the customer. I’ve been there at least ten times and every time I swear I won’t go back, but I still do because it’s close to where I live and the bread is good, albeit overpriced.

I recently visited Hart & Herzlich Pâtisserie Unplugged, and it was an amazing experience! This charming café offers delicious pastries and macarons, with a fresh new menu every month. Even though the inside is quite small, the ambiance is cozy, and there’s a lovely outdoor seating area perfect for sipping hot coffee and enjoying their incredible pastries. Their signature pastry was absolutely delightful, leaving a lingering taste that I couldn’t get enough of. I also tried the one of the special of the month—pineapple pastry in April—and it was just as fantastic. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and I will definitely be back to try the new pastries every month. It was clear this café is in high demand—while I was enjoying my pastry, I saw several customers picking up takeaways. It’s no wonder this place is so popular! Highly recommend giving it a try if you're in the area. I’ll definitely be returning!

Nestled away on Bruderstraße, Café Corso is a hidden gem in Leipzig that boasts a rich history dating back to 1912. This elegant café and patisserie has been crafting exquisite cakes and pastries by hand for over a century, ensuring each treat is made with the finest ingredients. The legacy of this family-run establishment was revived after the reunification of Germany in 1989, allowing the Fisher family to reclaim their beloved café.
Great historical atmosphere with walls covered in old photos and the cakes are simply delicious! It was hard to pick which one to have. We had Himbeer Sahne Torte (raspberry cream cake) and it was super tasty.

Delightful small cafe. I can highly recommend to have a delicious cake and a coffee here. Everything is made from scratch and in house. In conclusion it’s a lovely traditional cafe with some of the best sweets I ever had (and it’s really affordable to).

A charming, atmospheric café well-known for its signature pastry – the Leipzig Lark (Leipziger Lerche). The pastry was tasty, very sweet, and freshly made. The coffee was nothing special – just standard from an automatic machine. If you're a foreign tourist, bear in mind that the staff doesn’t speak English (or at least pretends not to), but it's still easy enough to get by with gestures and a smile. Definitely worth a visit if you’re curious to try a local specialty or want to buy some as a small gift or souvenir.
Dmitrij S — Google review
✅ Homemade cakes ✅ Nice & quite environment ✅ Kind & friendly service ❌ The coffee (cappuccino) is so mild, it tastes almost like warm water. ❌ The atmosphere outside is nice but overshadowed by big cars parking in front of your nose, close to the sidewalk. Bottom line, for a café.. The most important thing I'd think would be first the coffee. Here they use a simple full automatic machine with weak coffee beans that end up with a flat coffee experience. The cakes however, are surprising and worth a try. * The "Windbeutel" is a fun thing to eat and in spite of it being mostly whipped cream, it was fluffy and light. * The mini Sacher Torte was nicely sweet and moist inside. Very good 👍🏼 Photos attached :)

A beautiful coffee shop with amazing pastries. We ordered only cappuchino but it was a pleasent experience. Recommended.
Michal T — Google review
Service is often very slow. This is relevant if you just want to grab something to take away. I live nearby and I pass by every day on my way to work and want to grab something to bring to the office. But I don't even bother entering if there are customers already waiting. They might be a bit understaffed (there is just one person selling, making coffee, serving), but also they don't seem to be flexible with how they prioritise customers and orders. The sweets are really good. I don't drink coffee, but I have had tea, which was just a normal teabag in a cup of hot water. It would be nice to have slightly nicer tea in a pot etc. But I usually just go there for the Mandelhörnchen.

Pros: - food quality. It was very good. And also how it is presented. - Location and place. The music is soft and pleasant. You can stay quietly there for a while - Free tap water. Cons: - Service: the young waiter did not make me feel comfortable. It made me feel I was disturbing him. Only at the very end he gave me a smile. - prices: I think 4 euros for a small cup of hot water with 3 lemon slices is definitely exaggerated. Same for the food: almost 17 euros for a single breakfast dish (see photo), despite good. They can cut 30% from their prices with no harm at all.
Fab — Google review
Went to this place because it is listed on the European coffee trip app. It was 3.30 in the afternoon and the poor barista was all by herself and there was a constant stream of customers. The flat white was very very average (see pic) and she over heated the milk.

Coffee, especially flat white is good here. Food and cakes are rather average. Today I got banana bread, and after waiting and asking about it, they said they were warming it up. Okay. 10 min later the girl brings a cold piece of banana bread saying the other one was burnt. Wow. Finally, I don't understand how a coffee shop where you sell mostly drinks has no toilet. This is outrageous. Unfortunately, after 1 year this coffee shop cannot keep up... What a shame...

Absolutely delicious food - many vegan, vegetarian and glutenfree options. There are so many yummy and tasty options, it’s difficult to choose only one. I had the vegan english breakfast with vegan scrambled egg and it was absolutely amazing! I tried their cucumber limo which was very refreshing. I highly recommend to add this to your itinerary for Leipzig. Normally you need to reserve for their slots (we were very lucky getting a seat without one)

I came there asking for a table, the waitress said all tables are reserved, I asked if I can order take away, she said it will take 30 minutes. I went inside and asked to make a takeaway order at the „bar“ the lady there simply said no. I went back to the waitress and asked for a takeaway order, she said „I told you 3 times no“. We got a custom cake made from them for my friends son's birthday. The cake decoration was as per our expectations. The cake overall was good when compared to others but taste was not as per expectations. We had asked for Chocolate cake but it was not complete chocolate cake. The Galerie Hotel Leipziger Hof is a charming property located in Leipzig, offering comfortable and unfussy rooms adorned with local and international artwork. The hotel features an art gallery showcasing pieces from the Leipziger Schule, making it a unique accommodation choice for art enthusiasts. Guests can enjoy a quiet courtyard for dining or drinks, as well as complimentary breakfast. Additionally, the hotel provides amenities such as bicycle rentals and Wi-Fi throughout the building.
This is a nice, clean, professional, and affordable hotel with an attached restaurant and bar. There are many beautiful art works throughout the building and in the rooms. American travelers should know this is an older building and your room probably won't have A/C, but will have a fan. Shower water can be as hot or cold as you'd like. The neighborhood has easy bus and tram access to get anywhere in the city / region. There are numerous food options in this part of the city, additional options are a short tram ride away. I was very happy with everthing!

Pretty basic, cost effective and decent hotel in Leipzig. Within walking/tram distance of the city centre. The direct surroundings are a bit less inspiring, but the hotel itself is okay and has a friendly staff and proper German breakfast buffet.
Hans R — Google review
The place is alright and not too pricey, the hotel and rooms are obviously rather old. The rooms are rather small, the beds a bit worn and not really comfortable, somewhat natural given the age. Everything is cleanly. The WiFi does not comply with current security standards. The breakfast is quite ok for the price. The surrounding area has a lot of oriental food options, but little more.
Patrick J — Google review
Friendly stuff, rooms are simply but ok. Fair price
Yannik B — Google review
Nice hotel, especially the focus on art and the paintings everywhere. The charm of the old house is also the main problem: you hear everything, it's like a whole division marching up the stairs if 2 guests arrive later at night. Room 205 was fairly quiet, your best shot should be the top floor. Great location, awesome breakfast. For a short stay, it is well-suited.
Ph7ckngM4d — Google review
Visited the hotel in Leipzig. A nice place, to have a good evening. Didn't stayed over night, but so far I can say, it got a nice bar. Maybe aperfect place to have a date. All in all I had a delightful night there.
Johnathan G — Google review
This is a review of the property as an art gallery. Focusing on Leipzig School works, and spread over the hallways of the five floors of the hotel, the Leipziger Hof gallery is quite enjoyable. It can be visited any day between 10a and 8p. Plan between 30 and 45 minutes. Particular highlights include a Mattheuer and a Tuebke.
Jeremy — Google review
The breakfast buffet is very simple, nothing special. Bathroom was dirty. The hotel has a bad location, surrounded by abandoned buildings.

Located in the self-proclaimed Gohliser Kiezcafe, Schwung und Schwebe offers a delightful experience with its own coffee roastery serving delicious coffee and homemade dishes. The cafe provides a vibrant atmosphere for relaxation and socializing over coffee. Owners Jens and Max prioritize collaborating with local partners who share their passion for quality. Guests can expect fresh, tasty food and exceptional service at this new gem in Gohlis, making it an ideal spot for enjoying top-notch drinks and meals.
We've missed the breakfast by two minutes (ends at 12), however had tasty Flammkuchen in the sun. Service was friendly, food tasty. Prices too high in my opinion (as some other reviewers already pointed out), but won't let it influence the review here.

Only issue. The prices and portions. 5 stars for service. Good if you want to give it a try. Not your regular place of choice for our taste.

I liked breakfast burrito (vegan)! Hot chocolate is ok, but you can find same in Kaufland. Matcha latte is 4/5. Cakes were a disappointment - absolutely plain taste, coffee-caramel cake has way too much coffee. Overall pleasant vibe and tasty food, unless you order cakes ))

Food is fine, a little pricey. But it takes forever to serve. We even waited for 15-20 mins for 3 pcs of bread
Matt H — Google review
Had the most overpriced breakfast ever: a combination of 3 different types of sausage (each comes with a mini-portion), 3 types of cheese (also, each type comes with 2 thin slices), 3 different chutneys (one of which was jam), butter, and a basket of bread. All this strange combination in a quite small portion is positioned as a big breakfast plate and costs 22 euro. Left hungry and disappointed :(
Кристина Н — Google review
Despite saying we would like to sit indoors, we were arranged to sit outside. We waited over an hour for our food, during which time it began to pour with rain. At no point did anyone offer us the option to move indoors, nor did anyone check in on us. Because we were running late for a football match and still hadn’t been served, we had to request the food as takeaway. Eventually, we were given a non-waterproof paper bag in the middle of the rain, which broke shortly after, leaving the food soggy and inedible. We paid €36 and did not expect such poor service or to leave hungry and frustrated.

Excellent baked goods and friendly, helpful service. Try the Mahnschnecke poppy seed roll! They're delicious.

Mediocre pastry, bad coffee, and unfriendly staff.
Yul K — Google review
Extremely rude staff. I went only once a month ago. I was waiting in the queue for more than 10 minutes. The guy behind me got impatient and left. There was 1 employee working outside the bar and 3 employees working inside the bar, but one of them was being trained that's why everything was so slow. When I complained that I'm waiting long, they justified in a very rude way by saying that one was being trained. They didn't apologise and one of these boys (not the trainee) came in from of my face (very close), and said "OK Byyyyye" in an ironic way. I was shocked how rude and defensive all of them were. They could just apologise because I'm a client who was seeing them joking and training someone while there were many customers awaiting. I definitely wouldn't go again. There is an amazing bakery on the other side if the street where employees are very polite and fast!
Arlinda B — Google review
Just as a counter to the negative reviews from non-German speakers: they have always been very helpful and patient with me (I speak a bit of German). It's important to at least TRY to speak German in Germany, it's not asking much and you will be very surprised by the difference it makes. Their breads and pastries are delicious and exciting - try something new every day!

It was nice to try a cinnamon roll with a cappuccino. The cinnamon roll looked a bit different from my expectation (a CinnaBon in the US); but, it was good to me. Kind staff and cozy to stay for a moment enjoying coffee.

Unfriendly and rude owner who screams and humbles his customers. The product is good, better than average industrial Leipzig bakeries. High prices and bad energy ☠️

Kalas Coffee, a renowned coffee roastery established in Seoul in 2010, expanded to Leipzig in the summer of 2020. The team, led by Ann and their loyal dog Sozi, is dedicated to sharing high-quality roasted coffee with the community. Their commitment to excellence is reflected in their careful selection of premium beans and expert roasting process. Visitors praise the exceptional coffee drinks and appreciate the variety of cold options available during hot weather.
My new favorite coffee place in Germany so far! Their coffee menu reminds me almost of a little cocktail menu with super creative and exciting signature creations to try. I ordered the Noir Blanc (espresso with sugar syrup and creme brulee) and my sister a Vanilla Monkey (cold espresso with vanilla and banana cream) - both absolutely amazing 🤩 Next time I visit Leipzig I’ll definitely come back again.

It seems like this might be the best place to have coffee in Leipzig. The coffee is simply excellent! There’s also a courtyard hidden from the street — very cozy! A very friendly guy behind the counter offered us several specialty coffee options and made exactly what we asked for. Now this is my favorite place :)

Its a must go place if you are in Leipzig and like to enjoy very good quality coffee.Higly recommend !!!!

hands down my favorite coffee and roastery in Leipzig. Very experienced staff, always eager to share knowledge about the wide world of coffee. Would definitely recommend to go for a "pour over - special" (V60), they have a very diverse coffee beans menu, always perfectly roasted at the same place (I love that smell). The vegan cakes are great and you can sit either on the sidewalk of Karli, inside or on the cozy terrace in the garden at the back. They also sell amazing coffee beans to go, the packaging is perfect to offer it as a nice gift.

I enjoyed a pour-over coffee where the beans were infused with bourbon, an extraordinary thing. Later, I tried a cappuccino with Cinnabon, which was delicious as well. I took some Ethiopian ground coffee home. The place is just fabulous, with a barista who pays attention to each cup of coffee.

I enjoyed my visit at Analog Café/Bar a lot. Many people said it before and I say it again: coffee and cake are absolutely fantastic. But that’s not only what this place is about. From my point of view it’s more about the space itself, its warm atmosphere, a very well selected interior, products which are made with love, and this gorgeous guy who takes care of all this. For me, the Tea House Leipzig is much more than just a shop – it's a place where tea, enjoyment, and well-being come together in a wonderful way. As soon as you enter, you sense the loving atmosphere that immediately makes you feel welcome. I'm always particularly impressed by the expert and personal advice. Tea isn't just sold here – it's lived here. They take their time, listen, and give honest recommendations, and I've always found exactly what suits my taste. Tastings I've enjoyed outside of the shop have only enhanced the charm of the whole experience. All of these experiences are true highlights for me and have allowed me to see and perceive tea with completely different eyes. Whether for myself or as a gift – every tea from the Tea House Leipzig was a hit. Quality, variety, and attention to detail characterize this special place. Not only is tea served, but also enthusiasm and a genuine connection to the product.
